William Penn Hotel Research Paper
It s the largest hotel between New York and Chicago; containing 597 guest rooms now, and about
1,600 when it first opened March 9th of 1916. Located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh, the
William Penn hotel, named for the founder of Pennsylvania, is one of the most awarded hotels in the
Mid Atlantic region. When visitors enter the building through gold plated revolving doors, they catch
a glimpse of the three dazzling chandeliers hanging from the main lobby s ceiling. This lobby cost
almost $1 million. Mr Page, the director of sales and marketing said, mostly because the floor includes
marble from seven different countries.
Along with the ornate architecture and design throughout the lobby, the main room also includes the

A newspaper announcing the sinking of the Titanic is preserved in a glass case in Heritage Hall, one of
Mr. Page s favorite places. Along with this, and other newspapers from the time period, there are also
other artifacts which include old cutlery and china from the original opening but that s just the
beginning. One of the most well known artifacts in the hotel is Lawrence Welk s bubble machine,
which has been widely envied by music museums across the country. Even though it is an old piece of
machinery, we still decided to run the bubble machine during our 100th year anniversary of the hotel
being opened since it is such a big part of our history here at the hotel says Mr. Page.

The Digestive Tract ( Gi )
The abundance of our body s ability to carry out the functions required to sustain itself, relies heavily
on our diets. And not diet in terms of a fad you might read about in a health magazine, but rather in
terms of the food we consume for the nutrient contents it contains. This is also referred to as a food s
nutrient density. In addition to the food choices we make, a vital system in our bodies is composed of
several organs that work together to chew, swallow, breakdown, absorb, and expel what was once
lunch, into usable energy for every day tasks (Yale, Kathleen). This system is known as our digestive
tract, or our gastrointestinal tract (GI). Of the many important organs that make up the GI tract, our
stomach acts as an intermediary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Basic anatomy describes two classes of tissues that make up our bodies: epithelial tissues, a thin tissue
forming the outside lining of the body s surface, and connective tissues, tissues that support, bind, and
separate other tissues or organs deep to the epithelium. Believe it or not, your digestive tract is lined
with epithelial cells, supporting the notion that we are theoretically hollow and open to the outside
world, almost like a donut. Epithelial cells, while simplistic in nature, carry out various complex
functions, but of the most important is their ability to secrete mucous and absorb nutrients. In the
stomach, these functions are vital in not only the secretion of HCl, but also protecting us from the HCl
itself. Lining the stomach is an epithelial mucosa layer known as the secretory sheet, which produces a
carpet of mucus that covers the interior surface of the stomach. This alkaline mucous layer protects
epithelial cells against the acid and enzymes in the gastric lumen. (Martini, Nath, Batholomew. p. 881)
Two major cells that play a key role in the breakdown of nutrients live in gastric pits of the rugae, they
are parietal and chief cells. Chief cells promote enzymatic breakdown of nutrients, while parietals
cells play a major role in the secretion of HCl.
The parietal cell itself

Body Image By Jamie Santa Cruz
Society follows a norm that requires a general agreement between groups in order to function as a
whole. Human beings are social group animals (Lessing 1) and need each other to survive with the
intention to get along or fit in. These desires to conform influence our idea about ourselves (Lessing 1)
and people lose a sense of their inner self based on these insecurities. The false concept of ideal beauty
of body image is displayed in the media and it pressures young women and men to accept this
particular notion of beauty. The role of the media comes into play because it pressures individuals to
give in, since they appeal to our need, which is to be accepted. Although, people oppose to media
pressuring individuals to conform, it is clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Body Image Pressure Increasingly Affect Boys, Jamie Santa Cruz shows that the media harms boys
and girls in similar ways. Cruz discusses that boys who were highly concerned with their weight,
about half were worried about gaining more muscles...major difference between boys and girls when it
comes to weight concern: whereas girls typically want to be thinner, boys are as likely to feel pressure
to gain weight as to lose it (1). This displays that boys feel obligated to look a certain way like having
a 6 pack or looking physically fit due to the influence of media. Similarly, women want to lose weight
because being skinny is considered to be attractive. Cruz shows that most action figures have a
significant proportion of muscles which displays the improbable body image they set up for young
boys (3 4) because of this, boys are falling prey to a distorted image of themselves and their physical
inadequacies (3 4). It is presenting men in a way that is unnatural, like how girls and their bodies are
advertised. We assume that this is how men should appear and we judge them based on the illusions
that the media has created. Cruz displays that steroids is associated with depression, range attacks,
suicidal tendencies, and cardiomyopathies (4). He asserts that boys are pressured to look what is
considered as healthy in society. This shows how the media is harmful to boys because they can use
other alternatives, such as

Black Bubbly Girl She Chameleon Skin Essay
Kirsten Child s Black Bubbly Girl Sheds her Chameleon Skin is a musical play describes the life of
black woman Viveca who was brought up in a white centered culture. She developed a different
feeling towards her white peers since in the kindergarten at Los Angeles suburban to Broadway. Since
she was a young girl, dancing was her life ambition. She arrives at Broadway where she lives her
dream despite the ever changing politic of race and class discrimination. Using the style of
performance by the author, the paper will focus on how the black woman Viveca despite the racial and
class status discrimination, she manages to become an active and great dancer in Kirsten s choir and
how she gained her freedom. She is a freedom agent.
Viveca as the primary focus of the author in the play has become a typical example of great blacks

Disc Brakes Are The Finest
Disc Brakes are the Finest
Brakes have been around for a few years, and only a couple different types of brakes can be
manufactured. The two classifications of brakes are disc brakes and drum brakes. Drum brakes are an
older type of brake that uses springs and levers to apply brake pads to the wheels. Disc brakes are a
newer type of brake that uses a piston and an O ring to apply pressure to the brake pads. Which in turn
creates friction to a rotor that is bolted to the wheel, whereas drum brakes only apply pressure to the
wheel (Stockel, Auto Service 714). These brakes have been used in many different vehicles as well as
used in trailers and motorcycles. Disc brakes are seen in most cars today throughout the world; though
they did not start out as the best brake when they were first engineered, disc brakes are now the best
leading brakes out there because of the quality and performance level that was engineered into this
brake. Before there were any disc brakes, cars first had drum brakes that were the first engineered
brakes to be operational. Anyone who remembers driving passenger cars with four wheel drum brakes,
no doubt remembers their scary tendency to quit working when wet, or after repeated, hard stops
(Richards). Drum brakes have been around for a very long time, so manufactures have caught most of
the problems with drum brakes. This creating trust between the customers and their brakes on their
cars. Then the next big leap came in the 1970s,

Stereotypes In Black Men And Public Space
Stereotypes are born from fear and ignorance. They are used to wrongly judge an individual or group.
Brent Staples, a black man, is no stranger to this. Black Men and Public Space, written by Staples, he
discusses his experiences as a black man; often being mistaken as a criminal because of his
appearance. Most people see his universal identity and not who he really is. Living in the city of
Chicago as a black man, he is frequently categorized as a thug or aggressor. The purpose of his essay
is to inform the readers about how it feels to be the one who is stereotyped, as well as to express his
discontent of being type casted. As a result of the negative stereotypes involving black men, Staples
has the capacity to negatively alter the space he is in by causing others to fear him. Equivalently, many
people also fear cops because of the stigma they have. Because of this, the police negatively impact
the space they are in. In the article, What Happens When Black People Learn They Should Fear the
Police , Jesse Singal discusses how police brutality has affected the black community s trust in the
police.
Staples often faces stereotypes because of his threatening physical appearance. In fact, during his
night strolls most women he came in contact with would hide their purses and others would walk
towards the opposite side as him. Women in particular are often the ones who fear him. Staples does
not deny the fact that women are the most vulnerable to street violence, and young

Booker T Washington Dbq
Two important figures in history who were well known for educating African Americans and who also
changed the way the U.S education system worked were Booker T. Washington who focused on
having education for real life jobs and not asking for equality from whites. He just focused on getting

women slave was not tolerated, especially not in the south. Because of that Jane guarded his identity.
The emancipation proclamation was the event which changed Booker T. Washington s fate, making it

dominated by males. This evidently demonstrated a difference in her work in comparison to her male
counterparts. For instance, During this time writers such as W.E.B. Du Bois and Langston Hughes
were analogous to black activist and spoke up for their race, discussing inequality and examining the
negative issues at play while offering strategies to combat those issues and bring about change. For
instance, Dubois spoke greatly about black upliftment through the process of higher education and
urged blacks to stand up for what they believed and not conform to passiveness. This is depicted when
Dubois states the way for a people to gain their reasonable

Weeknd s upbeat song is heard all across the nation. Here in Orange County, every time you turn the

Thus, while there s a lot to really admire and get excited about in this script, there are areas to revisit.
First, the opening sequences set up the world of Sara Mann (last name has nice subtext man ). She

nice anticipation and suspense, but when the mist begins to billow out, try to build more anticipation

The idea of the US President and the fundraiser is a bit confusing. One isn t sure if this is in a different
location or where it s taking place. It would be nice to foreshadow the US President introduce him. If
the audience likes him, then his death will have a stronger emotional impact.
The main note is regarding the motivation for both Soule and Rapp to conspire against the US. It s
simply challenging to follow and it feels too convenient that both were conspiring. It s not clear if they
were working together or not.
Normally, in a political thriller the person who is a traitor has a close relationship with the
hero/heroine. Neither Rapp nor Soule seems close to the heroine.
Basically, it s difficult to understand their motivations. One reason for this may be the fact that the
script relies heavily on dialogue versus visual storytelling or action. When there s so much dialogue

Comparing Two Different Types Of English Riding
In the competitive world of horseback riding, there are two distinct styles: english and western. Even
though both sports require a horse, there are differences in the equipment you ride in, the type of
horse, and the basics of the sport.
The first difference is the type of equipment used in the sport. When riding, you use a saddle of
course, but saddles are made a hundred different ways for certain types of activity. For example, the
saddle you use. For a barrel racer, which is western, the saddle you use has a longer horn for the
ability to grab it when turning the barrels. The saddle is also heavier and thicker so it allows the barrel
racer to sit deep in the seat when going fast. For a jumper, which is english riding, the saddle has no
horn and is extremely light. The saddle is so light because the horse can jump higher and the only
weight that needs to be on the horse is the rider itself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different breeds of horses have different body structures, different speeds, and different temperaments
that fit with the sport they are used in. In all western sports quarter horses are mainly used even
though other types are used. Quarter horses are usually short and have very muscular hindquarters and
they also have the ability to reach top speed at a quarter of a mile, hence the name quarter horse .
Western sports are timed events but the fastest time wins, which is why this short and fast little horse
is used primarily in the western world of horseback riding. If you attend any english riding sport, the
horses you see are usually tall. For example you wouldn t see a short quarter horse in the jumping
arena trying to jump the high jumps. Thoroughbreds are a common breed spotted in the english arena
because of their build. They are quite tall and that also allows them to be used in racing because of

Ammonium Cyanate Synthesis
This chemical reaction was discovered in 1828 by Friedrich Wohler in an attempt to synthesize
ammonium cyanate. It is considered the starting point of modern organic chemistry. Wohler wanted to
prove, contrary to scientific thinking of the time, that a product of the living processes of animals
could be made in the laboratory from inorganic materials. The synthesis was almost an accident, as
Wohler had been trying to make another compound, ammonium cyanate, to continue a study of
cyanates he had been working on for the previous few years. When he added silver cyanate to
ammonium chloride solution he obtained a white crystalline material, which proved identical to urea
obtained from urine. His investigation was questioned by the theory of the vitalism. Vitalist chemists
predicted that organic materials could not be synthesized from inorganic components His discovery
was the beginning of the process of preparing organic compounds from inorganic substances. It is
used on an industrial scale for the manufacture of fertilizers, pharmaceuticals and resins. For example,
urea is one of the precursors to the various barbiturates, which are widely used as sedatives and
sleeping pills. Urea is also used in the production of urethanes, which are then ... Show more content

How heteronormativity and media stereotypes influences how queer people express their sexualities

Who is the man in the relationship? Who tops or bottoms? These questions have become a
fundamental part in queer people s lives. Why do non queer people need for queer people and their

In media, queer men and women are almost always portrayed in stereotypical roles, and bisexuality is
almost always expressed as a phase or not real. These ideas affect how others view queer identities
and how queer people view their own identity, and the social norms around them. Men are commonly
described as feminine whilst women are portrayed as masculine (Tara Sarper, 2013). How did these
widespread ideas come to exist and how do they continue to affect members of the community? These
stereotypes can be harmful as they build a picture of what it means to be a certain sexuality, as well as
the heteronormativity behind the stereotype. We often see queer people in relationships being asked
who s the dominant one, the man in the relationship, the top, etc. These ideas come from a
heteronormative society that puts harmful misogynistic norms even in relationships where women
might not be present. Where does the overwhelming pressure for there to be a man or top in the
relationship come from, and why are those two associated with each other? Since same sex
relationships go against the norm in society, society still puts pressure on heternormative ideas to be
present in them. If two men decide they want to be exclusively a bottom or top, dominant or
submissive, in either their sexual relationship or in their general dynamic, that is their choice and right
to do so. However, a social constructionist would say

Police Brutality And The Police
For the past couple years there has been so many incidents involving some sort of police brutality. The
mainstream media has shown police misconduct, case after case it has become a routine and making
people wonder if our officers of the law really doing their jobs? Unjustified shooting, and fatal
choking s have all contributed to the problem of police brutality in America and also has become very
controversial. The police carry an enormous burden each day, which makes their job really hard.
Police work is very stressful and involves violent, and split second decision. Nevertheless, cases like
the shooting of Samuel DuBose, and Walter Scott and the choking of Eric Garner has raised questions
regarding our police system. In many confrontations the police are put in a position in which they
have to use force to control the situation, but there are different levels of force and most of the time
the situation dictates the level of force that s necessary. In addition, I will explain different cases of
police brutality, the use of excessive force, and the consequences the officers have faced. While many
disagree with the rough treatment by police, others argue that the police are well trained to use force
and that they should be tough on crime and apprehend criminals. Statistics have illustrated this very
well due to modern technology; vital videos of police brutality have brought the real issue to the
surface. The use of excessive force is a criminal act. However, Bill Maher

History Behind Moulin Rouge the Movie
Moulin Rouge It was 1899 in Paris, France, it was the time of the Bohemian Revolution, and it was
the summer of love. Christian, played by Ewan McGregor, was a writer and came to Paris to
experience this revolution and be surrounded by the artists, singers, and dancers of this new Bohemian
world. Little did he know that he would experience something he had never felt before but always
believed in: love. Moulin Rouge, directed by Baz Luhrmann, is an exquisite movie musical based off
of a real life cabaret called Moulin Rouge in Montmartre. The movie tells the story of the love triangle
between Christian, Satine aka the Sparkling Diamond of the Moulin Rouge, played by Nicole Kidman,
and The Duke. Although Christian and Satine are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The champagne s on you? (History). La Goulue is relatable to Satine in the film, because Satine was
also the star and best dancer and she spotted Christian the first night he was there and while she was
dancing called him out in front of everyone who was in attendance at the Moulin Rouge that evening.
Moulin Rouge is one of Baz Luhrmann s best films. The movie came out in June 2001 and has won
many awards and is one of the best movies in the musical genre. The set design, costumes, casting of
roles, and music all is so perfectly put together to create this brilliant film. Luhrmann, who also co
wrote the movie with Craig Pearce, traveled to Paris with Pearce and the production designer to
conduct historical research and write the synopsis for the movie. To find ways to depict 19th century
Paris and the Moulin Rouge as it may have felt to its audience then at the cutting edge of sex, music,
dance, theater and modern thinking the filmmakers immersed themselves in the neighborhood, venues
and culture of their story (Luhrmann). Through their research and learning about the culture, they
came to understand that the Moulin Rouge was a club that brought all different classes together and

The Consequences Of The Delian League
Originally, The Delian League was an alliance created to continue the onslaught on the Persia after the
Greeks successfully repelled the second Persian invasion the founding principle was offense is the
best line of defense and speculations that Persia could one day arrange another invasion (Butler,
2007).
Due to the fact that the Athens were given most credit for the Greek victory, and because the Athens
had the strongest navy, they were chosen to lead the alliance in its continued naval (counter)
aggression and continue on pressuring the already shattered Persian forces.
Now, this brings us to a point that ends The Delian League as a military alliance that had a purpose of
bringing the aggression back to Persia, and turns The Delian

The Art Of Activism In Art
Activists make their messages and movements known through art in order to express messages,
validate identities, and to make struggles known, calling themselves ARTivists to show that there is an
often undervalued intersection between the two. But before the coining of the term, activists have been
creating art to advance themselves and their communities. ARTivists within the Chicano community
have especially been creating art in order to validate and record their own experiences. ARTivism is
crucial in today s society and culture as it intersects art and politics in order to emphasize injustices
that are deeply rooted within these structures. By decolonizing and deconstructing exploitive
structures, ARTivists liberate the oppressed while creating a more socially conscious future by
allowing the oppressed to create their own voice and tell their own stories. ARTivism dismantles the
idea of art for art s sake by giving a meaning to art. It exposes truths that become hidden or are erased
by social structures, which oppresses the people who live out those truths. Portraying activism through
this medium allows for people to connect in a creative way as art is able to speak volumes for those
who do not have a voice to speak out against injustices against them. During the time of Cesar Chavez
and the United Farm Workers, Chicano farm workers created a movement to fight for better wages
and working conditions in the fields they worked. In addition to protesting, they utilized

Essay On Attractiveness Of Jaguar
An analysis of the attractiveness of the luxury car industry with respect to Jaguar, based on Porter s
Model of The Five Forces of Competition.
Although India is a developing country, in the last few years due to economic crises, the country has
been facing numerous challenges. Despite the situation, very recently it has been acknowledged that
the Indian market has seen as increase in the demand for luxury items specially Luxury Cars. Another
fact to be considered is that the demand of such cars is not only increased in Tier I cities but also in
Tier II and Tier III cities. In view of this shift in buying preferences, global luxury car brands like
BMW, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini and others now have their eye on

One of the most significant barriers comprises the brand equityenjoyed by most established brands.
The repute of the brand is extremely important to customers; luxury brands such as Jaguar, Mercedes
Benz, BMW and Audi have a long and magnificent history to boast about, and the companies work
hard to preserve the association between them and other symbols of individuality and of top notch
quality and performance.
Although several Asian companies have developed new luxury brands to compete with the traditional
European and American brands, it is extremely difficult for challengers to match the prestige of brands
with years of history.
Another challenging barrier to entry is the huge initial investment required to enter car markets in
general. Large amounts of capital are required to set up manufacturing facilities and invest in R D,
among other large expenses. This also creates large sunk costs and makes it hard to achieve economies
of scale. The capital requirements are one of the main reasons why new luxury brands have been
produced by companies which were already present in the market as large car manufacturers (Toyota s
Lexus and Nissan s Infiniti) and not by new, free standing,

The Relation Between Wen s Theorem And Lawton
In this work, we review a paper by Parker [4]. In [4] Parker derived several trace identities for M(3,
C). In this paper we improve on the results obtained by Parker [4]. We discuss the relation between
Wen s theorem and Lawton [1] and Will s work on the trace of the commutator
[8]. We also present the merits on how to parametrise pair of pants via traces and cross ratio. In the
last section we use a formula which is due to Pratoussevitch [6] to compute trace of matrices
generated by complex reflection.
Mathematics Subject Classification : 51M99
Keywords: Hermitian matrix, Hermitian form, Free group, Triangle group,
Special linear group, Special unitary group, Trace of a matrix.
1 Introduction
In his survey paper published as [4], Parker studied the connection between the geometry of M and
traces of Γ, where M is a complex hyperbolic orbifold written as H2
C
/Γ and Γ is a discrete, faithful representation of π1(M) to
Isom(H2
C). He did that by first considering the case where Γ is a free group on two generators and secondly,
looking at the case where Γ is a triangle group generated by complex reflections in three complex
lines. Several geometrical information connecting traces and complex hyperbolic space could be seen
in Parker [4].
Pratossevitch [6] also presented several formulas for the traces of elements in complex hyperbolic
triangle groups generated by complex reflections. In this paper we improve on the traces identities
found by Parker [4] on M(3, C).

Essay on Ernest Hemingway s For Whom the Bell Tolls
In Hemingway s For Whom the Bell Tolls, the recurring images of the horse and the airplane illustrate
one of the major themes of the novel. The novel s predominant theme is the disintegration of the
chivalric order of the Old Spanish World, as it is being replaced by the newer technology and ideology
of the modern world. As a consummate artist, Hemingway, in a manner illustrating the gothic quality
of his work, allows the bigger themes of For Whom the Bell Tolls to be echoed in the smaller units.
He employs the tropes of the horse and the airplane to convey these larger themes, while at the same
time using them to comment upon the complex relationship that exists between the Spaniards Fascists
and Communists, alike and religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have abandoned religion, as they have become disillusioned by it, and, therefore, have no
mechanism for atonement. Stemming from their close attachment to the chivalric ideal of equality in
battles, the Spanish have absolutely no conception of modern warfare, until the planes begin invading
their land. They view war as a match of equals, wherein a lone soldier can look his enemy in the eye
as they battle, but, instead, they are forced to come to grips with the horrors of modern warfare.
The planes are representative of the modern mechanical accomplishments that have emerged, which
can replace the chivalric, soldier of the Old World. With the emergence of such technologies, and the
influx of new ideologies, not only has the religion, once integral to chivalry, become obsolete, but the
people, too, have become dispensable. Gone forever is the almost sacred element of one on one
battles; the planes have eradicated these chivalric ideals, by replacing them with a brand of never
before seen mass destruction. In effect, the new ideologies have become the new religion; they have
replaced the Church, just as the new mechanisms, such as planes, and mass warfare have replaced the
chivalric ideals of the medieval world.
The meaning of the horse and airplane images can be illuminated through an exploration of Chapter
27, which conveys, without a doubt, their significance. One of the very first

Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality And Psychological Types
In the 1920 s, a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung devised a theory. Jung didn t accept the idea that
the behaviors of people were random. Instead, he was a firm believer that the differences between
individuals were a result of how people use their brains. Jung claimed that what appears to be random
behavior is actually the result of differences in the way people prefer to use their mental capacities.
(The Myers Briggs Foundation). Jung realized that people typically function in one of two ways, take
in information or make decisions, and that people usually are more comfortable alone or around
others. With all these observations, Jung wrote a book titled Psychological Types, which introduced
the idea of personality and psychological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introverts are people who spend time thinking and reflecting before they act. Their motivation is
internal, which might end up closing them off from the world around them. Introverts usually prefer
one to one relationships, and only express intimacy with a few family members or close friends.
Introverts also love doing activities that allow them to be put in an organizational position.
Occasionally, introverts will shut down and close off from all of those around them. Personally, I
believe that is a completely accurate description of myself. I also plan out my days ahead of time, and
I love being able to put things together. While I sometimes I think that it is a negative thing, I do tend
to close off from my circle, which happens to be very small. If I do get to meet my goal of being a
teacher, my introversion definitely yields to potential for problems. Getting out of my shell would be a
challenge, without a doubt. That being said, my introversion is mostly geared towards others my age. I
am usually very comfortable around people that are older or younger than I am, which makes me
believe I would probably be okay. Other than having to overcome the challenge of opening up, being
an introvert does have upsides, such as having an urge to get things done. The next part of my INFJ
combination is that I am intuitive. Being intuitive means that I able to feel things that seem true by a
feeling that is similar to instinct. The intuitive brain wants to be able to

The Role Of An Island In E. Lockhart s We Were Lias
In We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, the setting of an island is crucial to the story, both in a symbolic
sense and logistically. As Cadence struggles to regain her memory and discover her family s secrets,
the island plays an important role in her story. One way the island does this is by showing the isolation
of the family from the outside world. In a book, islands often represent seclusion. Islands are
surrounded by water and thus disconnected from outside civilization, just as the Sinclairs are. Cadence
comes from a very privileged family, a family with very little perspective. The island embodies the
family s unawareness of the issues in the world. Another way in which the setting adds meaning to the
story is how only the surface of an island

The Rational Decision Making Model Essay
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of this report is to provide feedback on administrative and public policy violation issues
in the city of Crestview located in Okaloosa County, Florida. The report analyzes public policy
violations, City Council member adjudication, transparency, and leadership issues in the City of
Crestview. The report uses various research methods to gather data to help formulate the conclusion
and recommendations of the report.
The rational decision making model is utilized to make the best decision possible. The rational
decision making model is the best known prescriptive model; the model involves several sequential
steps: identifying the problem, determining the goals and objectives, identifying and evaluating
alternative policies, choosing from the alternatives, recommending actions, implementation, and
evaluation (Smith, 2014). The use of this model is justified as it provides structure and sequence to the
choices of the decision maker. The model helps ensure key indicators can be fully considered in a
logical manner.
It is recommended that the administration create new procedures and implement trainings or classes to
educate City Council members, employees and other city officials on new public policies as well as
the Sunshine Law. These trainings will outline laws, policies and ordinances as well as target times for
legislators to move any issue from the systemic agenda to the formal agenda; this policy should allow

America has many presidents who are still remembered with their legacies, but President Andrew
Jackson s presidency is a history of which the Native American will never forget. Jackson s
democracy was not in support for women to vote, and black men to join in armies. The people who
paid the greatest price through his presidency were the Indian tribes, whom he forced to move from
their land which belonged to their ancestors.
Therefore, in 1800s all the five civilizer tribes are Choctaws, Creeks, Chickasaws, Seminoles and
Cherokee wanted to adopt European ways of living for them to survive within white culture. The way
of adopting white culture was, they invited Moravian missionaries in to their community in 1801.

This is because the Indians did not want to give an opportunity for whites to own land for farming,
and they did not support Jackson s presidential election. The president got his support from southern

Mississippi River. While Jackson and other groups of government gave a speech regarding Indian
Removal. The removal was a nightmare to Indian history in America. Furthermore, in 1832 thousand
of Sac and Fox Indians where force across the Mississippi, which was led by Chief Black Hawk. at
that time the Indians could do little for themselves, because they did not have strong a military and
most of them are not educated to fight the whites back. (US History)
Meanwhile, the Cherokees were educated because they were able to write their own newspapers and
elected leaders to a representative government. Since the state of Georgia did not recognize their
government structure, they forwarded their complaint to the federal government. Around 1830 s the
Cherokee won their case, which is Treaty of New Echota, but Georgia still did not want to accept the
decision, even though, they won their case at the Supreme Court, there was no support from the
President {US HISTORY}.

  • 3. The Digestive Tract ( Gi ) The abundance of our body s ability to carry out the functions required to sustain itself, relies heavily on our diets. And not diet in terms of a fad you might read about in a health magazine, but rather in terms of the food we consume for the nutrient contents it contains. This is also referred to as a food s nutrient density. In addition to the food choices we make, a vital system in our bodies is composed of several organs that work together to chew, swallow, breakdown, absorb, and expel what was once lunch, into usable energy for every day tasks (Yale, Kathleen). This system is known as our digestive tract, or our gastrointestinal tract (GI). Of the many important organs that make up the GI tract, our stomach acts as an intermediary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Image from: Associate Degree Nursing Physiology Review.) Basic anatomy describes two classes of tissues that make up our bodies: epithelial tissues, a thin tissue forming the outside lining of the body s surface, and connective tissues, tissues that support, bind, and separate other tissues or organs deep to the epithelium. Believe it or not, your digestive tract is lined with epithelial cells, supporting the notion that we are theoretically hollow and open to the outside world, almost like a donut. Epithelial cells, while simplistic in nature, carry out various complex functions, but of the most important is their ability to secrete mucous and absorb nutrients. In the stomach, these functions are vital in not only the secretion of HCl, but also protecting us from the HCl itself. Lining the stomach is an epithelial mucosa layer known as the secretory sheet, which produces a carpet of mucus that covers the interior surface of the stomach. This alkaline mucous layer protects epithelial cells against the acid and enzymes in the gastric lumen. (Martini, Nath, Batholomew. p. 881) Two major cells that play a key role in the breakdown of nutrients live in gastric pits of the rugae, they are parietal and chief cells. Chief cells promote enzymatic breakdown of nutrients, while parietals cells play a major role in the secretion of HCl. The parietal cell itself ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Body Image By Jamie Santa Cruz Society follows a norm that requires a general agreement between groups in order to function as a whole. Human beings are social group animals (Lessing 1) and need each other to survive with the intention to get along or fit in. These desires to conform influence our idea about ourselves (Lessing 1) and people lose a sense of their inner self based on these insecurities. The false concept of ideal beauty of body image is displayed in the media and it pressures young women and men to accept this particular notion of beauty. The role of the media comes into play because it pressures individuals to give in, since they appeal to our need, which is to be accepted. Although, people oppose to media pressuring individuals to conform, it is clear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Body Image Pressure Increasingly Affect Boys, Jamie Santa Cruz shows that the media harms boys and girls in similar ways. Cruz discusses that boys who were highly concerned with their weight, about half were worried about gaining more muscles...major difference between boys and girls when it comes to weight concern: whereas girls typically want to be thinner, boys are as likely to feel pressure to gain weight as to lose it (1). This displays that boys feel obligated to look a certain way like having a 6 pack or looking physically fit due to the influence of media. Similarly, women want to lose weight because being skinny is considered to be attractive. Cruz shows that most action figures have a significant proportion of muscles which displays the improbable body image they set up for young boys (3 4) because of this, boys are falling prey to a distorted image of themselves and their physical inadequacies (3 4). It is presenting men in a way that is unnatural, like how girls and their bodies are advertised. We assume that this is how men should appear and we judge them based on the illusions that the media has created. Cruz displays that steroids is associated with depression, range attacks, suicidal tendencies, and cardiomyopathies (4). He asserts that boys are pressured to look what is considered as healthy in society. This shows how the media is harmful to boys because they can use other alternatives, such as ... • 7. Disc Brakes Are The Finest Disc Brakes are the Finest Brakes have been around for a few years, and only a couple different types of brakes can be manufactured. The two classifications of brakes are disc brakes and drum brakes. Drum brakes are an older type of brake that uses springs and levers to apply brake pads to the wheels. Disc brakes are a newer type of brake that uses a piston and an O ring to apply pressure to the brake pads. Which in turn creates friction to a rotor that is bolted to the wheel, whereas drum brakes only apply pressure to the wheel (Stockel, Auto Service 714). These brakes have been used in many different vehicles as well as used in trailers and motorcycles. Disc brakes are seen in most cars today throughout the world; though they did not start out as the best brake when they were first engineered, disc brakes are now the best leading brakes out there because of the quality and performance level that was engineered into this brake. Before there were any disc brakes, cars first had drum brakes that were the first engineered brakes to be operational. Anyone who remembers driving passenger cars with four wheel drum brakes, no doubt remembers their scary tendency to quit working when wet, or after repeated, hard stops (Richards). Drum brakes have been around for a very long time, so manufactures have caught most of the problems with drum brakes. This creating trust between the customers and their brakes on their cars. • 8. Stereotypes In Black Men And Public Space Stereotypes are born from fear and ignorance. They are used to wrongly judge an individual or group. Brent Staples, a black man, is no stranger to this. Black Men and Public Space, written by Staples, he discusses his experiences as a black man; often being mistaken as a criminal because of his appearance. Most people see his universal identity and not who he really is. Living in the city of Chicago as a black man, he is frequently categorized as a thug or aggressor. The purpose of his essay is to inform the readers about how it feels to be the one who is stereotyped, as well as to express his discontent of being type casted. As a result of the negative stereotypes involving black men, Staples has the capacity to negatively alter the space he is in by causing others to fear him. Equivalently, many people also fear cops because of the stigma they have. Because of this, the police negatively impact the space they are in. In the article, What Happens When Black People Learn They Should Fear the Police , Jesse Singal discusses how police brutality has affected the black community s trust in the police. Staples often faces stereotypes because of his threatening physical appearance. In fact, during his night strolls most women he came in contact with would hide their purses and others would walk towards the opposite side as him. Women in particular are often the ones who fear him. Staples does not deny the fact that women are the most vulnerable to street violence, and young ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though both sports require a horse, there are differences in the equipment you ride in, the type of horse, and the basics of the sport. The first difference is the type of equipment used in the sport. When riding, you use a saddle of course, but saddles are made a hundred different ways for certain types of activity. For example, the saddle you use. For a barrel racer, which is western, the saddle you use has a longer horn for the ability to grab it when turning the barrels. The saddle is also heavier and thicker so it allows the barrel racer to sit deep in the seat when going fast. For a jumper, which is english riding, the saddle has no horn and is extremely light. It is considered the starting point of modern organic chemistry. Wohler wanted to prove, contrary to scientific thinking of the time, that a product of the living processes of animals could be made in the laboratory from inorganic materials. The synthesis was almost an accident, as Wohler had been trying to make another compound, ammonium cyanate, to continue a study of cyanates he had been working on for the previous few years. When he added silver cyanate to ammonium chloride solution he obtained a white crystalline material, which proved identical to urea obtained from urine. His investigation was questioned by the theory of the vitalism. Vitalist chemists predicted that organic materials could not be synthesized from inorganic components His discovery was the beginning of the process of preparing organic compounds from inorganic substances. It is used on an industrial scale for the manufacture of fertilizers, pharmaceuticals and resins. These ideas affect how others view queer identities and how queer people view their own identity, and the social norms around them. Men are commonly described as feminine whilst women are portrayed as masculine (Tara Sarper, 2013). How did these widespread ideas come to exist and how do they continue to affect members of the community? These stereotypes can be harmful as they build a picture of what it means to be a certain sexuality, as well as the heteronormativity behind the stereotype. We often see queer people in relationships being asked who s the dominant one, the man in the relationship, the top, etc. These ideas come from a heteronormative society that puts harmful misogynistic norms even in relationships where women might not be present. ARTivists within the Chicano community have especially been creating art in order to validate and record their own experiences. ARTivism is crucial in today s society and culture as it intersects art and politics in order to emphasize injustices that are deeply rooted within these structures. Stemming from their close attachment to the chivalric ideal of equality in battles, the Spanish have absolutely no conception of modern warfare, until the planes begin invading their land. They view war as a match of equals, wherein a lone soldier can look his enemy in the eye as they battle, but, instead, they are forced to come to grips with the horrors of modern warfare. The planes are representative of the modern mechanical accomplishments that have emerged, which can replace the chivalric, soldier of the Old World. With the emergence of such technologies, and the influx of new ideologies, not only has the religion, once integral to chivalry, become obsolete, but the people, too, have become dispensable.
