Reflection for Co Teaching This semester was my first time working with 3rd graders at an IB
school. This type of school is structured much differently than all the other elementary schools in
Jefferson County. The curriculum at this school is a concept driven curriculum that helps students
construct meaning through improved critical thinking skills. This means that the lessons taught are
inquiry based. Inquiry based instruction is centered on posing questions and establishing facts
through exploration rather than simply presenting the facts to the students. With that being said,
my cooperating teacher (CT) planned a very interactive Science lesson to get his students engaged
in learningand doing Science. My CT told me that he did not have a specific book to teach with,
yet he had essential questions and standards that needed to be met in Science. The lesson was
centered on the 3rd grade Colorado academic standard 2, concept 2, which pertained to the
concept of the duration and timing of life cycle events in different organisms. The essential
question of how humans can have a negative or positive impact on the life cycle of animals and
insects was also a guiding factor in the lesson. My CT and one of his co workers that taught 3rd
grade came up with this lesson with the help of the ButterflyPavilion, who provided specimens,

On 16 October 2007 Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation officials reported a
toxic spill of methanol (methyl alcohol) at the Prudhoe Bay oil field managed by BP PLC.
Nearly 2,000 gallons of mostly methanol, mixed with some crude oil and water, spilled onto a
frozen tundra pond as well as a gravel pad from a pipeline. Methanol, which is poisonous to plants
and animals, is used to clear ice from the insides of the Arctic based pipelines.
From January 2006 to January 2008, three workers were killed at the company s Texas City,
Texas refinery in three separate accidents. In July 2006 a worker was crushed between a pipe
stack and mechanical lift, in June 2007, a worker was electrocuted, and in January 2008, a worker
was killed by a 500 pound piece of metal that came loose under high pressure and hit him.
On April 1 2009, a Bond Offshore Helicopters Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma ferrying workers
from BP s platform in the Miller oilfield in the North Sea off Scotland crashed in good weather
killing all 16 on board.
On April 20, 2010, a semi submersible exploratory offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico
exploded after a blowout and sank two days later, killing eleven people and causing a massive oil
spill threatening the coast of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, and Florida. The rig is

can be found in nature or is made by humans. I will explain that artists throughout time have used

The Story Behind Why Brady Street Should Be Changed All throughout the history of Tulsa,
Oklahoma there has been many racially charged tragedies that have happened. Many people
believe that the so called Brady Street, which was named after the founding father of Tulsa, Wyatt
Tate Brady, should be changed due to his membership with the Ku Klux Klan. In 2013, business
owners in Tulsa wanted and are still wanting to change the Brady street named after W.T. Brady
and name it Brady after the Civil War photographer. I believe that it should be changed because of
how much W.T. Brady was involved with the Ku Klux Klan, The Tulsa Outrage, and The Race

It occurred when a white mob started attacking residents and businesses of the African American
community of Greenwood in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in what is considered one of the worst incidents of
racial violence in the history of the United States. Although the riot itself lasted only a few hours,
its repercussions are still felt today. The riot started after a young black man was accused of
having sexual contact and raping a young white female who was operating an elevator. He was
later taken into custody and rumors raced all throughout the Negro Community. Over 800 people
had to be taken to the hospitals and over 6,000 negroes were taken into custody. Tulsa Policemen

one bunch of whites would come in and loot. Even women with shopping bags would come in,

On the contrary to public knowledge, November 19th is a United Nations (UN) observance for
World Toilet Day. Although it is unclear as to who invented the first latrine, for Homo sapiens,
public toilets are one of the major markers for sophistication as a species. With eradicating
unrestricted urination and defecation behaviors, this helps humans to keep cities clean and overall
reduces the risk of disease.
With this knowledge at hand, one could infer that other mammals have adapted this same behavior
of sharing toilet spaces. In fact, rather than excreting randomly, many mammals have specific sites
assigned for this activity. These sites are assigned to specific locations that are away from where
the animals reside to sleep and feed.
However, where Homo sapiens differ from other mammals, is that human public toilets are
designed primarily for sanitation purposes. As described by the United Nations, World Toilet Day,
on 19 November, is about taking action to reach the 2.4 billion people living without a toilet, (UN
2016). The United Nations then further express how sanitation is a global development priority,
and how sanitation, or lack of, can impact the livelihood of people (UN 2016).
In contrast, other mammal communal latrines serve a more unique purpose than just health. Not to
neglect sanitation as being an important factor in the overall survival of a group, but other
