Importance Of My High School Football Team
A High School Football Team is a community of students selected to play together in the school
team where all the students have the fair opportunity to join the team. There will be a lot of
students in the team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined
the football teamin high school. As a Nepali refugee who had never heard of football until he came
to America, the transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse
community of my High School FootballTeam by developing my knowledge about football,
communicating, and making friends with team members from different culture and social
group. My journey to the school team was hard, but it was worth. I became part of a football
team because students are taught to be responsible and mature in the team. Joining a football
team was a great opportunity for me to make a lifelong friendship with other players learning
about leadership, communicating, and working with a team. Just like other players, I played
with a hope of getting a scholarship for college. I began with desired to become a true member of
this community, but I was so determined that I end up leading a team by becoming a team
captain. Therefore, it is important for everybody to learn the experiences of others because there
might be somebody out there who wants to be part of any team, but maybe they are afraid to step
up to join that team thinking he or she is different among all. It doesn t matter who you are,

Describe And Explain The Roles And Responsibilities Of...
This report will outline, describe and explain the roles and responsibilities of different levels of
Government.
1.Roles and responsibilities of the Monarchy: (P1 M1)
The current Monarch is Queen Elizabeth 11, She is the longest reining Monarch of 63 years.
The Monarch is the Head of State and Head of the Common Wealth. The main role of the Queen
is to pass legislations, which have to go through a process, called royal assent. The royal assent is
processed once a legislation/bill has been completed through all of the parliamentary stages in both
House of Commons and House of Lords; the royal assent means that the Queen formally agrees to
make the legislation/bill into an act of Parliament. The Queen has to have weekly meetings with the
Prime minister in which she has the right and duty to discus and express her views on all the
current Government matters. The communications between the Queen and Prime Minister are to
be remained strictly confidential and once the Queen has expressed her views, she will abides by

recommended by an independent body which the House of Lords appoints commission. The
House of Lords shares the task with House of Commons of making and shaping new laws and
then checking and challenging the work of the Government. The Members of the House of Lords

The Pathology Of A Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Essay
Seth Kahn s (2011), article entitled, Putting Ethnographic Writing in Context, identifies
ethnography as the study of relationships, rituals, values, and habits that make people understand
themselves as members of a group. Ethnographers adopt a stance of observation, as well as
participation to better understand the discourse among members within a particular group, or
discourse community (Khan, 2011). This ethnographic research will connect what community
members know and do, with what they say and how they say it (Devitt, Bawarshi, Reiff, 2003).
The purpose of this study is to explore how nurses, working in a cardiac catheterization
laboratory, learn the local knowledge necessary to communicate with a multidisciplinary
discourse community successfully. To protect the identity of participants in this study, the name
of the laboratory included in the study will be identified as the XYZ Cardiac Catheterization
Laboratory. Cardiovascular diseases have long been the leading cause of death in the United
States (Narang et al., 2016). Research predicts the progression of cardiovascular disease will
affect forty percent of our population by the year, 2030 (Narang et al., 2016). Furthermore,
research shows that the cardiovascular workforce is inadequate to meet the rising demands of this
patient population (Narang et al., 2016). In particular, a subset of cardiac nurses, a cardiac
catheterization laboratory nurse is a key member of this cardiovascular workforce.

Summary Of The Song Concrete Angel
While child abuse can indirectly cause obesity, it is often directly responsible for child death. The
Song Concrete Angel written by Martina McBride illustrates the pain and hardships of a child who
was abused, neglected and then died. McBride explains the fear and the worry the child felt each
day and then reminds listeners that many abused children don t even live to adulthood. Often times,
the long term effect of child abuseand neglect is death. She argues that people need to do more to
help those that are abused when she sings She hides the bruises with the linen and lace, oh/The
teacher wonders but she doesn t ask ( McBride 4 5), and later on in the song, Somebody cries in the
middle of the night/ the neighbors hear but turn

Professionalism Definition
I have an extremely broad definition for professionalism. Overall, I believe that professionalism is
a multidimensional term that refers to many ideal qualities associated with respectable,
professional individuals. These individuals have chosen to conduct themselves in the best ways
possible in all areas related to their career and work. In my opinion, individuals exhibit
professionalism when they are highly self disciplined, competent, experienced, and well mannered.
In addition to this, I believe professionalism refers to those that are good decision makers and
individuals that strongly adhere to ethical guidelines. I believe the term also characterizes those
that strive to serve the needs of their employer and coworkers before their own... Show more content

First, I will sincerely strive to adhere to the ethical guidelines associated with my professional
career. Ethical guidelines may seem easy to follow initially, but my experiences while interning
have shown me that it could become difficult to follow these guidelines in situations where
morals contradict with the ethical guidelines of the organization. For example, there have been
times at Rogers County Youth Services where the youth have tried to give me a hug when I
leave. From a moral standpoint and my Christian faith, I strive to be a caring, loving person in
all my social interactions. I try to display this when deemed appropriate to be an encouraging
presence in a dark place. Therefore, it may seem odd for one such as myself to deny a hug from a
youth that has been ripped from their family due to neglect and/or abuse. However, Rogers County
Youth Services made me sign an ethical contract that specifically stated that I was restricted from
hugging any of the residents in the shelter no matter what. Although my moral compass may lead
me to disregard this statement in certain extreme scenarios, I have an obligation to conduct myself
in an ethical, professional manner while interning. I believe this is an excellent rule at the shelter
because it protects the individual and the organization from a wide variety of repercussions that
could result from hugging a resident. Nonetheless, it is a rule that could be challenging for many
to follow in situations where a young victim of abuse is asking for a

A La Carte By Web Based Services Essay
Nowadays, budget conscious customers look at ways to avoid paying for expensive bundles
cable TV offers. They prefer to choose a la carte programming offered by web based services. A la
carte approach to programming enables the subscribers to pay for only the channels they really
want to watch. Several companies including Verizon, Walt Disney
and Viacom provide their
customers with content they are interested in without the need of paying for channels they are not
willing to watch. No wonder there is a lot of competition between the largest operators in the
wireless and cable industry like Verizon, Dish and Comcast.
In 2014 Verizon Communication chief, Lowell McAdam, said that Web and mobile devices require
a different approach than traditional cable. He stated that Web and mobile users don t desire to
have hundreds of channels on their wireless device (Albanesius, 2014). Verizon looks into the
future and understands the need of implementing changes and satisfying customers. The company
wants to move in the right direction and allow their customers to have more control over the
programming.
Dish is another company that has made their services more attractive to their customers. The
company strives to increase the value of their products and services. Dish offers live local broadcast
and channels like ABC Family or ESPN over mobile devices and set top box. Dish s customers are
now able to access Disney s Watch ESPN or Watch ABC Family apps making it possible to view

The Sequence Of Development Can Be Divided Into Five Aspects.
The sequence of development can be divided into five aspects. Each sequence has a age bracket
but you should always remember that children and young people develop at their own rate, the ages
just provide a framework. Sequence of a childâ€TMs development 0 to 3months Social
development: The child communicates its needs by crying and stops crying when their needs
are met. Responds to smiles and relates to others by satisfying their own needs for food, drink,
sleep and comfort. Physical development 0 to 3 months The child is growing fast so will sleep
for a lot of the time, tries to gain head control by trying to lift the head, primitive reflexes such as

Their intellectual development includes recognises certain sounds and objects , continues to enjoy
water play in bath, continues to be egocentric, shows interest in surroundings, enjoys peek a boo
games Communication and language development at 3 9 months continues to develop smiling ,
recognises family names, starts to look at books, tries to join in games by imitating sounds,
babbles using single syllables for example †̃maaâ€TM and then from approximately 7
months uses two syllable sounds such as †̃maamaâ€TM. The emotional sequence at
this age would be that a strong attachment to theparent/carer , developing attachments with familiar
people, does not like anger in others and will become distressed themselves, developed what they
like and donâ€TMt like and shoes strong emotions through gestures. At 9 to 18 months old the
social development still makes them egocentric , thinking all toys belong to them, aggressive to
other children but not meaning it, can use some words to communicate and if they feel like it
respond to instructions. During this Physical sequence the child is becoming more mobile by
crawling, bottom shuffling, cruising and walking so safety measures need to be in place at home
eg. Cushioned corners, stair gates, security on cupboards and drawers. Starts to hold cup and tries

Raising The Minimum Wage
According to the Wall Street Journal, more than one half of the people earning the minimum
wage are from 16 to 24 years of age. This statistic clearly shows that most of the people in
America making minimum wage are young adult that just got out of high school or college and
are trying to find work experience. Why should a low skilled young adult with no work
experience make as much as a teacher? They are doing a job that any other low skilled human
could do. Jobs making the minimum wageshould not be considered to be a career, they should be a
stepping stone towards your future career. The current federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and
the state minimum wage is $8.10 an hour. An increase in the minimum living wage in the United
Stateswill ultimately result in increased unemployment, increased prices for goods and services,
and essentially becoming ineffective at reducing poverty. Increased unemployment is just one
of the negative effects of increasing the minimum wage. When employers are forced to pay it s
employees more money every week it requires them to find ways to pay for these wage
increases. One unfortunate way these employers will will pay for these wage increases is by
laying off more employees, and requiring the employees left to do even more work then before.
Most fast food establishments in the United State are typically already understaffed, which begs us
to question what would happen if they have even less employees? Many people go to fast food

Universal Health Care System Of Universal Healthcare
Individuals who reside in countries practicing a system of universal health care have access to the
health services they require, which, consequently, leads to overall healthier populations. Such
health services include, amongst other things, prevention promotion, treatment, rehabilitation and
palliative care.(who.org) These services are provided without the risk of monetary adversity or
destitution for those who use them. Ease of access to health facilities and care in turn leads to
healthier people. Universal health caresystems bring the entire populace into contact with good
quality services and health professionals, in addition to medicines and technologies that aid in the
diagnosis and treatment of medical problems. In order to meet the urgent well being needs of the
population, such systems employ a people centered combined care approach to treatment that
incorporates:
Information programs which support healthy lifestyles and avoidance of sickness
early detection of chronic conditions
capability to treat diseases
assistance for patients in convalescence and
provision, where needed, of sympathetic palliative care (who.org)
The ambition of universal health is always to deliver a growing number of health services over time
and to guarantee that populations have opportunities to participate in strategic preventive health
programs. In this way, the goal of countries that provide universal health care is to continually work
and strive to maintain healthier

Fossil Fuel Resources For Alternative Sources Of Energy Essay
Diminishing fossil fuel resources have prompted scientists and researchers to look for alternative
sources of energy. Though several alternative sources of energy have been identified, generation of
energy using combustion of fuels still remains the dominant source of energy globally [1].
In search for alternative fuels, biofuels have shown promising results to generate useful energy.
However, efficient atomization of some high viscosity biofuels to yield maximum useful energy
and minimise emissions is an area of research that has not been completely explored so far. As a
result, liquid atomization has drawn a lot of attention among researchers over the past few years [2].
Though several different types of atomization processes are used in the industry, twin fluid
atomization practices have been quite common and effective. Twin fluid atomization techniques can
be broadly classified into Air Blast (AB) atomization, Effervescent Atomization (EA), and Flow
Blurring (FB) atomization.
Amongst these, FB atomization technique is a very recently developed concept that has
demonstrated promising experimental results with high atomization efficiency. Researchers have
conducted experiments to understand the process of atomization in a FB injector as well as the
spray characteristics [2].
However, a computational model has not been developed so far to complement the outcomes from
practical experiments. This project was aimed at gaining further in depth understanding of a FB
injector

brother s friend. With the absence of a father, and little presence of a mother, the house is to be
full of adolescent teens. As time progresses within the house, relationships begin to form;

Being the child she is, Briony misinterprets Robbie s emotions toward Cecilia, and identifies him

of rape. Due to past evaluations of Robbie, Briony comes to a conclusion that it was Robbie who
assaulted Lola. Unfortunately, Robbie is taken to prison. Rather than sitting hopelessly in
prison, he decides to take part in the war effort in France. The war in Europe is not so bright, as
the German s are successful in utilizing their scheme. Robbie and his military partners decide it
is best to fall back and return home. As they travel towards the sea, Robbie is bearing an injury;
which only seems bearable with constant thoughts of Cecilia. Resulting from her false accusation
of Robbie, Briony experiences a sense of resentment for what she has done. At this point, her
weak state of mind rejects going to school, and allows her to become a nurse in London. As
Briony finds time, she finally meets with Cecilia to address her false accusation. She converses

Ethos And Pathos In Me Talk Pretty One Day By David Sedaris
This essay Me Talk Pretty One Day about the author David Sedaris stands one of his phenomenal
pieces that he got us used to. He indicated several techniques throughout his essay that included
more meaning and humor to his selection. It s much easier to be anything other than being
humorous and comedic on paper, however David Sedariscontinues to be a brilliant author in his
selection for the language techniques that he uses to deliver the smile upon our faces; the extensive
imagination to the scenes of his story. David develops his thesis through delicate humor and
entertaining anecdote of his French course and his know it all professor who finds enjoyment of
belittling her students.
One of the most techniques I notice that David uses his selection is the style of Persuasion; Ethos,
Logo and Pathos. The techniques that he used to help broaden the audience s imagination; creating
a clear view of the scenes to what the author is talking about and how he was feeling during those
scenes. David used Pathos for most of his essay, leading his audience into his feelings and emotions
as he tells us his story. In addition to the earlier techniques, David came across some simple,
entertaining methods to accomplish the purpose of this selection (Entertainment). David implied
gibberish words which made it a lot more interesting and enjoyable.
David s first impression of his teacher was: She s mean and very sarcastic with her responses. At
that point he knew he was in trouble. So, he

The Divide Of The Genders
The Divide of the Genders In the past, there have been many debates about the gender gap
happening throughout school systems. Even still to this day, there are many arguments about this
topic. Back then, all there was was problems about education. Guys were more privileged than
the girls were. For the past decades, this issue has stuck around. Many argue that boys are still
more privileged than girls are. But many facts these days say otherwise. There are many people
still that believe that schools are biased towards girls. Many think, That girls are treated as the
second sex in schooland consequently suffer, that boys are accorded privileges and consequently
benefit, so these are usually the things many people seem to presume. So these types of ideas
have the schools being biased towards girls, which had now, ... given rise to an array of laws and
policies intended to curtail the advantages boys have and to redress the harm done to girls
(Sommers). But these statements that are being made are not true. There are many facts that
girls hardly suffer. There are now many, claims that men are now the second sex and that boys
not girls are the ones who are in serious trouble (Kimmel). Yet, in thought, both sides of this
debate are very true. That there is a crisis happening among boys. However, they are also both
wrong. Yes, there are many logical facts proving that boys are now suffering more than the girls
are. Let s begin with the evidence of crisis. The

Stephen Harper s Wealth Gap Analysis
Stephen Harper has continually disgraced Canada and its citizens throughout his almost 10 year
reign as Prime Minister. There are many problems that have risen throughout Harper s governing;
the widening of the wealth gap, the lack of women s rights and aboriginal rights are just a few.
With an election around the corner, it s time for change.
The Harper government tend to push aside many problems that exist in this nation. The wealth gap
is widening tremendously; the rich are getting richer and the poor are still poor. According to
Statistics Canada, The top 20 per cent of Canadian families by income saw their average net worth
rise from $721,900 in 1999 to $1.3 million in 2012, adjusted for inflation. Those numbers compares

Harper also pays favouritism to his friends who will undoubtedly vote for him by preferring
policies aimed at giving tax breaks to the rich (Rochon). Families, who really need an increase in

consequences of Harper s actions.
The Harper government has also been neglecting important basic human rights that are given to
women and aboriginals. The Conservative party has cut funding to many women s groups. In
2006, the Conservatives cut Status of Women Canada s budget by 37 percent and closed 12 of its

Sam Cooke Meaning
A Change is Gonna to Come It s hard to listen to songs about slavery or the civil rights movement
without imaging the hardships and the unfairness that African American had to go through. Sam
Cooke did that, writing a song that grads your attention and later after Cooke s death would
come more popular. He had a vision for the African Americans, and was not afraid to sing about
what he felt was right. Sam Cooke s song A Change is Gonna to Come was a song of protest. For
the African Americans that were fighting for their rights. He wrote this song to support the civil
rights movements. Not just for his self, but for all blacks that was affected by the unfairness. He
wanted to capture the frustrations he had and he was not afraid of a challenge. Before the Civil
Rights Act of 1964, segregation in the U.S was mostly in the Southern states. The segregation was
supposed to be separate but equal. But that is not how it was. Blacks in the south were
discriminated against and the law did nothing to protect their rights as individuals. The civil rights
act of 1964, stated that all public places including public schools were desegregated. This meant
that employer may not deny a person employment because of their race, religion, or gender. You

Organ Shortage Around The World
In the 21st century, it is obvious to the world that there is an organ shortage around the world.
Many thousands, hundreds of thousands of people are waiting for organs to save their lives. There
are just not enough organs to be spread around to the people who urgently need them. The global
response to this problem is very different throughout different countries. Some countries are
harvesting organs, some executing prisoners, some paying people to donate, some allowing people
to sell them on the black market, and some countries just urging people to donate out of the
kindness of their hearts. The organs and tissues you can currently donate (deceased) are; liver, heart,
lungs, cornea, tissue, pancreas, kidneys, small intestines, blood, blood vessels, bone marrow and
other parts of the bone, heart valves and skin. Organ donationis a very controversial topic, with
many nations taking different opinions as a whole. But why are some people so hesitant to donate
their organs to the people who really need them?
The first question is really; how many organs do we actually need? Currently, the Australian
Donation rate is 16.1 donors per million. 16 people in every million donating their organs. That is
approximately 384 donors in the whole population of Australia. You may think that is quite a lot,
but when there are 1600 people urgently waiting for an organ, this measly 384 people is just not
enough. This situation is viewed differently around the globe. There are many different

The Plague by Albert Camus Essay
The Plague by Albert Camus
Albert Camus The Plague, takes place in the desert town of Oran, Algeria, in northern Africa. It is
the perfect setting for this story to take place. The ordinariness of Oran is contrasted with the
extraordinary business of the plague. Sprintzen points out that There is a mythic significance of
Oran. Given the previous description of the quality of Oranian life, the selection of Oran as the
location for the outbreak of plague should not come as a surprise (Sprintzen 38). In Oran, life for its
inhabitants has lost meaning. The plague offers them a chance to give meaning back to their lives.
The plot of the story is revealed in five parts, over which we see the characters undergo changes.

Vital living can be stifled by habits. Todd suggests that It is at this point that one should revolt
against his stultifying pattern of living. Recognition of bottomless death makes a habit bound
life even more absurd (Todd 165). Considering that they are completely unaware of anything
around them, it is easy to see that the disease captures the city completely by surprise; no one is
prepared for it. Doctors gather to discuss the matter. They have trouble naming the disease at
first, and refuse to accept it for what it is. This reflects the whole attitude of the town, as the
citizens do they very same thing. Doctors in particular are the first attempt to combat the disease.
The individual efforts are valiant but have a negligible effect. An epidemic is a problem, which
belongs not to a person but to people. It becomes apparent, however that it cannot merely be one
who must oppose the plague. No matter what the doctors do one their own, they cannot stop the
dying. The number of victims lost to the plague climbs higher and higher. Sprintzen writes The
Plague does, beyond any possible discussion, represent the transition from an attitude of solitary
revolt to the recognition of a community whose struggles must be shared (Sprintzen 103). Yet
slowly at first, people begin to die, and the citizens of Oran take notice. The residents of Oran do

He pretends to have a strange liver disease, he has ambiguous thoughts on flying missions by
dropping the bombs as quickly as possible whether they are hitting the targets or not so they can
get back to base faster, and he also falsifies the bomb line on the map to make the commanders
think the area has already been captured, calling off the air strike from being deployed. Yossarian
s analysis of other members on the Air Force base offers a better understanding of each character
and how they are just as crazy as Yossarian. Despite, Yossarian s efforts to avoid the war, he is
mortified by the death of fellow soldiers. First Mudd, a soldier killed just two hours after his
arrival, was dumped in Yossarian s tent and even though Yossarian insists there is a dead body
in his tent, everyone in the air force base denies it. Second, was a soldier named Snowden, that
died in Yossarian s arms during one of the missions. Lastly, was Nately, Yossarian s dearest friend,

superior officers Colonel Cathcart and Korn are unable to stop Yossarian from rebelling, they give

that if he took the option of being sent home he would have to support the superior officers in their

Defects Of The Human Heart
In order to understand defects of the human heart, it is important to first understand its
development. Initially, the fetal heart is a simple tube, consisting of just three layers and three
specific areas. These primitive layers later develop into the myocardium and epicardium of the
heart. The areas cranial (head) end, caudal (tail) end, and bulbus cordis eventually form the aorta
and ventricles.
Around the third week of pregnancy, the fetal heartbeat can be seen as a flicker on the ultrasound
monitor. At this stage, the heartorganizes into two chambers one atrium on the left and one on the
right. Structural defects are most likely to occur during this time of development. Eight weeks after
conception, the fetal heart consists of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a healthy heart, the aorta is attached to the left ventricle for transportation of oxygen rich blood
to the body. An overriding aorta, another defect of tetralogy of Fallot, is one in which oxygen poor
blood flows directly into the aorta instead of into the pulmonary artery due to the aorta s position
between the left and right ventricles.
Narrowing of the pulmonary valve and the main pulmonary artery called pulmonary stenosis is the
third defect of tetralogy of Fallot. This obstruction forces the heart to work harder and deprives the
lungs of adequate amounts of oxygen rich blood. Because the heart is pumping at high pressure to
move blood through the narrowed pulmonary valve, the muscle of the right ventricle becomes
thicker than usual. This defect is known as right ventricular hypertrophy.
A small percentage of children with tetralogy of Fallot may also suffer from an atrial septal defect
(ASD). This is a hole in the septum that separates the atria of the heart. This defect causes blood to
flow directly from the left atrium to the right atrium, increasing the blood pressure in the lungs to
dangerous levels.
Heart conditions among newborns are relatively common, affecting almost 1 in 100 American
babies. Of these, tetralogy of Fallot accounts for 8 10% of all congenital heart diseases among
newborns. Although tetralogy of Fallot affects males and females equally, it is seen more
commonly in children with Down

Reasons for Mergers Acquisitions
The following are the other important reasons for mergers or amalgamations: 1. Economies of
scale. An amalgamation company will have more reasons at its command that the individual
companies. This will help in increasing the scale of operations and the economies of large scale
will be available. These economies will occur because of more intensive utilization of production
facilities, distribution network, research and development facilities, etc. these economies will be
available in horizontal mergers were scope of more intensive use of resources is greater. 2.
Operating economies. A number of operating economies will be availed with the merger of two or
more companies. Duplicating facilities in accounting, purchasing,... Show more content on

The collective finances of merged companies will be more and their utilization may be better than
in the separate concerns. It may happen that one of the merging companies has short gestation
period while the other has the longer gestation period. The profits of the company with short
gestation period will be utilized to finance the other company. When the company with the longer
gestation period starts eating profits then it will improve financial position as a whole. 10.
Economic necessity: It may force the merger of some units. If there are two sick units,
government may force their merger to improve their financial position and over all working .a sick
unit may be required to merge with the healthy unit to insure better utilization of resources,
improve and better management. Rehabilitation of sick units is asocial necessity because their
closure may result in UN employment etc. 11. Gaining Cost Efficiency When two companies
come together by merger or acquisition, the joint company benefits in terms of cost efficiency. A
merger or acquisition is able to create economies of scale which in turn generates cost efficiency.
As the two firms form a new and bigger company, the production is done on a much larger scale
and when the output production increases, there are strong chances that the cost of production per
unit of output gets reduced. 12. An increase in market share is one of the plausible benefits of
mergers and

Anheuser Busch, The Largest Beer Distributing Company Of...
Anheuser Busch is the largest beer distributing company in the world. This is because over the
years dating back to 1852 they have been pioneers in both their product production and
distribution. Over the years they have faced a lot of criticism and setbacks. Most notably during
Prohibition from 1920 through the early 1930s. In 2008 they were bought by the European
company InBev and currently hold 49.6% of the market share. Today through the modern era they
have also been one of the most successful companies when it comes to marketingtheir products.
After World War II, Anheuser Busch entered into a time of prosperity and growth. In 1955, August
A. Busch, Jr. made a personal television appearance to introduce the first successful new beer brand
since Prohibition, Busch Bavarian. To help market the brand, August Jr. tied Busch to America s
national pastime: baseball.
In the 1950s, Anheuser Busch tapped into the growing medium of television and became the first
brewery to sponsor a network television show, The Ken Murray Show, on CBS in 1950. Popular
campaigns, such as Pick a Pair, which urged customers to buy not one but two six packs at a time,
helped make Anheuser Busch the leading U.S. brewer in 1957 a position it retains today.
In the 1970s, advertising featuring memorable slogans helped keep Anheuser Busch s products in
the forefront of consumers minds. Budweiser s 1979 This Bud s for You campaign saluted

Identity In Elie Wiesel s Nightwood
After reading Nightwood I have been radically altered. Not in the clichГ© sense where one
comes from reading a book and proclaims his or her life different, but altered in the sense where I
have been forced to confront the issue of my own identity through the text itself. The idea of the
human condition which Barnes explores in the novel brings up for me more questions than
answers. Do we all suffer cruelly at the hands of this abstract notion of love? Can we reconcile,
within ourselves, the notions of love, animalism, identity and sexuality (or other cultural
difference) after they are marginalized into the realm of other? How do we step outside of an
ideology produced by the hierarchical formation and heal the wounds that we inflict on one
another? For the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jeanette Winterson in her preface to Nightwood remarked The language [in Nightwood] is not
about conveying information; it is about conveying meaning. It is hard to disagree with
Winterson, especially taken in the context of Barnes not being able to communicate her feelings
with people directly; it makes sense that she would communicate her feelings indirectly via her
writing. In my attempts to explain Nightwood as a whole, that is its language, and the meaning
that one can take from such a book, I find what draws me to this piece of literature aside from its
complexity and richness are the way in which its characters, Felix Volkbein, Robin Vote, Dr.
Matthew O Connor and Nora Flood seek out one another in hopes that the one will fulfill the other
s desire. For the analytical discussion of the novel I would like to read the character Robin Vote,
examine the locus of her abject, which is that place where the meaning between Object and Subject
collapses the construction of the I (read: identity ) and allows the character to experience and
occupy the space of symbolic terror as she sleepwalks in and out of Felix and Nora s

The Human Psyche, By Michel De Montaigne And Sir Francis...
When King David considered the majesty and greatness of God, he felt insignificant by
comparison, and asks, what is man that you are mindful of him? In Psalm 8 of The Bible, David
stands in awe of the majesty of the Lord, and when he realizes how vast and magnificent God truly
is, he is even more amazed that God would take the time to notice him a mere mortal man. Buried
deep in the humanpsyche is the desire to explore the subjects that give human life meaning, and the
question of what it means to be human has been a source of contemplation for as long as recorded
history. The Renaissance essayists, Michel de Montaigne and Sir Francis Bacon, with their
immense minds and insatiable curiosity, used the literary form of the essayin an attempt to capture
the world in its entirety and its diversity: every thought, every experience, and every inquiry in their
work questions the intrinsic value of humanity. The intelligence and imagination of these two
essayists becomes a small universe , in which the individual can articulate the way in which humans
think about the world and their relation to it. Montaigne s essay, Of Experience (1580 92), and
Bacon s Of Studies and Of Truth ( 1625) are critical meditations that raise fundamental questions
about the nature of human endeavour, and suggest that knowledge of what it means to be human is
to be found in observation through experience, rather than through reason alone. The writers and

Painting today is pure intuition and luck and taking advantage of what happens when you splash

movement and happenings in the world inspired artist to make new works, I was able to see much
more than just a canvas with random paints and sketches. The interesting part about this concept is
that each piece of art could be interpreted in many different ways. In contemporary artthere isn t
right and wrong, each of us view and find different meanings and connections with artworks. The
beginning of 20th century was a time of drastic change. New developments were made in the
arenas of the classical sciences, social science, psychology and philosophy each challenging
traditional thought. Industrialization and the introduction of many new, challenging concepts in
the fields of politics as well as the development of new technologies gave artist more freedom to
innovate and break the rules of traditional art. By using new materials, techniques and the new
approach artists were pushing boundaries of what has previously been accepted art practice in order
to invent radically new styles. Modernism was a broad period surrounding many movements. It

If you are having a large rug, you can buy a simple non slip rug pad to keep your area rug from
slipping or shifting from its position. If you are only interested in keeping your larger area rugs
from sliding from its position, then just buying a basic non slip rug pad can do the trick.
However, a quality rug pad is only essential for smaller rugs. For larger area rugs, a basic non skid
rug pad can help in preventing them from slipping or sliding. My recommendation is a natural
rubber rug pad because it is more eco friendly (made from rubber tree sap) and won t stain your
hardwood floors. My best bet is eco friendly rug pad, the ones that are made from the sap of the
rubber tree. They not only helps the environment but also won t leave any stain on your floor.
You can go for eco friendly natural rubber rug pad, because it can help the environment and most
importantly, it won t stain your hardwood floor. The best option is natural rubber rug pad, since
it is more environmentally friendly and also won t leave any kind of stain on your floor surface.
Again, they are a bit more expensive than traditional china imported pvc padding, but I wouldn t

Persuasive Literary Devices In Could We Be Amusing...
Could We Be Amusing Ourselves to Death?
The evolution of technology has become indescribable. Technology is prevalent in our society, as
well as its portrayal in the media, a seemingly essential aspect of our everyday lives. Although
many idolize how technology has improved our lives, many fail to recognize technology s faults.
By using three persuasive literary devices (pathos, logos, and ethos), Neil Postman expresses his
concern for technological advancement and possible failure in the book Amusing Ourselves to
Death. Logos appeals to logic; when using a persuasive device such as logos, you are using
logical reasoning to appeal to the reader. When using logos, you must include facts, statistics,
and citing credible sources. By using ethos, the author conveys his ideas while being well aware
of what he is talking about by utilizing credible sources. Pathos, however, conveys the author s
ideas by appealing to the reader s emotions. Postman does an outstanding job of orchestrating a
piece using the most popular persuasive elements. Postman was able to incorporate all three of
these devices into his book, but the most prominent one in my opinion, and that helps to best
convey Postman s point, is logos; statistics and facts are two things you very rarely can fight
against. Over and over Postman uses facts on how the media is basically dumbing us down. For
example, Postman pointed out that with the rise of the televised age there was then a decrease in
literacy.

the rights/interests of all beings aside from any form of discrimination or prejudice (speciesism)

animals therefore also possess interests, interests that are similar (although not exact) to those of a

Tuck Everlasting Movie And Book Comparison Essay

How does the movie differ from the novel and how are the two similar? The book and the movie

The setting is still the same and in the same time frame. The man in the yellow suit is also dressed

Why Is Socrates My Teacher

Digital Technology And Social Media Essay
More recently than in years past, digital technology and social media have grown to become a
part of our everyday lives. The recent rise in those who own smartphones allows this everyday
use of digital technology and social networking to be easier than ever before. At any time and any

communication is altered from personal to digital. This universe has led to debates over whether or
not these online communities are real or whether social mediais actually social. Various digital

connect with nearly anyone at any time, Americans have taken advantage of its use, and their
attention has been drawn away from real life interactions to digital ones. The ramifications of such

Essay On Systematic Review
Three out of the five systematic reviews observed participants over an extended period of time
(Ostacher, Perlis, Roy, Nierenberg, Calabrese, Stange, Salloum, Sachs, 2010), (Kilbourne, Biswas,
Pirraglia, Sajatovic, Williford, Bauer, 2009), (Felicia, Derek, Satre, Weisner, 2006). Sample sizes for
the participants being observed ranged from hundreds to several thousand. The other two systematic
reviews, reviewed existing studies (Miklowitz, 2008), (Drake, O Neal, Wallach, 2008). All five
systematic reviews concluded that, the different psychotherapy techniques decrease mental health
symptoms, increases engagement, and modestly decrease substance use (Ostacher, Perlis, Roy,

All eight studies were various in race, ethnicities, and genders. However, the most frequent
demographic in all the studies was an adult male.
The two case studies had very weak sample sizes (Jones, Barrowclough, Callott, Day, Earnshaw,
Wilson, 2011), (Biseul, Icick, Seguin, Bellivier, Scott, 2017). Case studies are supposed to have
small samples. However, observing less than fifteen participants in a study cannot give an accurate
depiction of how effective a treatment is, because it makes it hard to replicate the treatment in other
population demographics.
All three experimental designs had strong sample sizes. Both the pilot and follow up study
completed by (Weiss, Griffin, Kolodzie, Greenfield, 2007), (Weiss, Griffin, Greenfield, Najavits,
Wyner, Soto, Hennen, 2000) had a strong sample size. The sample size in the pilot study was 45,
and the sample size in the follow up study was 61. This is a strong sample size for experimental
designs because it includes various population demographics that make it easier to replicate. The
study written by (Smelson,Kalman Losonczy,line,Sambamoorthi,Hill,Ziedonis 2012;2010) had 102
participants that were gathered from an inpatient psychiatric unit. This size is strong because it is
reflective of the entire population.
The research designs were: systematic reviews, experimental designs, and case studies. The

Video Games Have On Culture
The Far Reaching Influence Video Games Have on Culture
All you can see on screen is a pair of arms holding a gun as you proceed down a poorly lit, grungy
tunnel. Looking down, you can t see your own feet not because of the gloom, they simply weren
t included in the design. A heads up display shows ammo, health, shields, and a motion tracker in
the corner while an aiming reticule sits in the center of the screen. The graphics are shoddy at
best by today s standards, but at the time it was released this was considered to be the cutting edge
of video games. This is Halo: Combat Evolved, released in 2001, not even two decades ago. Now
known as the first in the Halo series, at the time it was an example of how far video games had

In books, everything is laid before you, he says. There is nothing left for you to discover. Video
games are the only forms of artistic expression that allow the authoritative voice of the author to
remain true while allowing the observer to explore and experiment. This is especially true when
looking at older creations, when the graphics and narratives were limited by the current technology,
forcing players to draw heavily from their imaginations, becoming what Melissinos calls the game s
third voice, the first voice being the designer of the game, and the second voice being the
mechanics of the game itself (Tucker).
One of the most memorable parts of any game is its main theme, the song that plays during the title
screen . Originally simple 8 bit tunes meant to draw attention at arcades, a video game s soundtrack
was handled by the programmers, limited to whatever space was left over after the game itself
was complete (Hsu). As a result, early games such as Tetris had a single short, repetitive song that
would loop constantly in the background, eventually becoming embedded in the player s brain. As
technology developed to allow for more efficient data storage, companies were able to add longer
and more complex songs. Eventually, as games became more immersive, the soundtrack became a
way to emphasize what was occurring on screen (Hsu). With video games becoming an increasingly

60s Makeup Look
60s Makeup Look
The 1960s were the start of a huge boom in the use of makeup and the 1960 s differs from the
bright Day Glo shades of the 80 s and the natural look of the 90 s. If you are looking for a really
authentic 60 s makeup look, you will want to go for dramatic, smoky eyes and nude lips. This
look is quite different from the smoky eye and nude lip of today. The first step is to get all your
supplies ready. You will need a good foundation with medium to heavy coverage, concealer,
powder, brow pencil, frosty peach blush, black eyeshadow, a lash curler, false lashes, mascara and
nude lip pencil and beige lipstick.
The first thing to do is to apply your foundation. You can apply the foundation with your fingers
if you wish or use a damp makeup sponge. One tip is to do what the pros do and use a foundation
brush. Use concealer to cover up any imperfections of the skin such as dark undereye circles and
blemishes. For this look, apply foundation even to your lips so that there is a nude base for your
liner and lipstick. Set your base with a liberal dusting of powder. The look should be matte, not
dewy. Next, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accentuate your natural arch with the pencil. If your brows are too thick, pluck them first.
Unruly brows can be held in place with a dab of brow gel, clear mascara or even a little hair gel.
Next, use an eyeshadow applicator or brush to apply the black shadow to the lids and crease.
Blend gently. Wet the applicator and dip it into the black shadow again. With the wet shadow,
apply a dramatic line to the upper and lower lash lines. You may also want to use liquid black
eyeliner if you don t like using wet shadow. Wing the liner out at the outer corners for a cat eye
look. After the liner is dry, apply the false eyelashes. When they are securely adhered, curl your
lashes to blend them with the falsies and apply two coats of black

Cultural Differences Between The Nisei And The Issei
In 1869, the first Japanese Immigrants arrived in California in an attempt to escape the Meiji
restoration, which forced them out of their houses. Many joined them in America after that, forming
the first generation of Japanese Americans, the Issei. Those immigrants then formed families and
gave birth to the second generation, the Nisei. However, the cultural differences between the Issei
and the Nisei, who were all born in America, created an important gap between the two generations.
The short story Seventeen Syllables , through the relation between Rosie, a Nisei young girl, and
Tome Hayashi, her mother, is a good depiction of this issue.
First of all, the lack of a common language between the Nisei and the Issei was the main problem
in their relations. Most the Nisei went to American schools where they learned everything in
English. The Issei, for their part, had learned Japanese as their first language. In Seventeen
Syllables , Rosie only has little knowledge in Japanese. Here, the author describes a bit more her
level in that language: It was about cats, and Rosie pretended to understand it thoroughly and
appreciate it no end, partly because she hesitated to disillusion her mother about the quantity and
quality of Japanese she had learned in all the years now that she had been going to Japanese school
every Saturday (and Wednesday, too, in the summer). (170) It reflects the delicate situation in which
that ignorance put the Nisei. To make their parents proud,

  • 2. Importance Of My High School Football Team A High School Football Team is a community of students selected to play together in the school team where all the students have the fair opportunity to join the team. There will be a lot of students in the team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined the football teamin high school. As a Nepali refugee who had never heard of football until he came to America, the transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse community of my High School FootballTeam by developing my knowledge about football, communicating, and making friends with team members from different culture and social group. My journey to the school team was hard, but it was worth. I became part of a football team because students are taught to be responsible and mature in the team. Joining a football team was a great opportunity for me to make a lifelong friendship with other players learning about leadership, communicating, and working with a team. • 4. The Pathology Of A Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Essay Seth Kahn s (2011), article entitled, Putting Ethnographic Writing in Context, identifies ethnography as the study of relationships, rituals, values, and habits that make people understand themselves as members of a group. Ethnographers adopt a stance of observation, as well as participation to better understand the discourse among members within a particular group, or discourse community (Khan, 2011). This ethnographic research will connect what community members know and do, with what they say and how they say it (Devitt, Bawarshi, Reiff, 2003). The purpose of this study is to explore how nurses, working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory, learn the local knowledge necessary to communicate with a multidisciplinary discourse community successfully. To protect the identity of participants in this study, the name of the laboratory included in the study will be identified as the XYZ Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Cardiovascular diseases have long been the leading cause of death in the United States (Narang et al., 2016). Research predicts the progression of cardiovascular disease will affect forty percent of our population by the year, 2030 (Narang et al., 2016). Furthermore, research shows that the cardiovascular workforce is inadequate to meet the rising demands of this patient population (Narang et al., 2016). Overall, I believe that professionalism is a multidimensional term that refers to many ideal qualities associated with respectable, professional individuals. In my opinion, individuals exhibit professionalism when they are highly self disciplined, competent, experienced, and well mannered. First, I will sincerely strive to adhere to the ethical guidelines associated with my professional career. Ethical guidelines may seem easy to follow initially, but my experiences while interning have shown me that it could become difficult to follow these guidelines in situations where morals contradict with the ethical guidelines of the organization. For example, there have been times at Rogers County Youth Services where the youth have tried to give me a hug when I leave. From a moral standpoint and my Christian faith, I strive to be a caring, loving person in all my social interactions. I try to display this when deemed appropriate to be an encouraging presence in a dark place. Therefore, it may seem odd for one such as myself to deny a hug from a youth that has been ripped from their family due to neglect and/or abuse. However, Rogers County Youth Services made me sign an ethical contract that specifically stated that I was restricted from hugging any of the residents in the shelter no matter what. Although my moral compass may lead me to disregard this statement in certain extreme scenarios, I have an obligation to conduct myself in an ethical, professional manner while interning. I believe this is an excellent rule at the shelter because it protects the individual and the organization from a wide variety of repercussions that could result from hugging a resident. Nonetheless, it is a rule that could be challenging for many to follow in situations where a young victim of abuse is asking for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Several companies including Verizon, Walt Disney and Viacom provide their customers with content they are interested in without the need of paying for channels they are not willing to watch. No wonder there is a lot of competition between the largest operators in the wireless and cable industry like Verizon, Dish and Comcast. This statistic clearly shows that most of the people in America making minimum wage are young adult that just got out of high school or college and are trying to find work experience. Why should a low skilled young adult with no work experience make as much as a teacher? They are doing a job that any other low skilled human could do. Jobs making the minimum wageshould not be considered to be a career, they should be a stepping stone towards your future career. The current federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and the state minimum wage is $8.10 an hour. • 11. Fossil Fuel Resources For Alternative Sources Of Energy Essay Diminishing fossil fuel resources have prompted scientists and researchers to look for alternative sources of energy. Though several alternative sources of energy have been identified, generation of energy using combustion of fuels still remains the dominant source of energy globally [1]. In search for alternative fuels, biofuels have shown promising results to generate useful energy. However, efficient atomization of some high viscosity biofuels to yield maximum useful energy and minimise emissions is an area of research that has not been completely explored so far. As a result, liquid atomization has drawn a lot of attention among researchers over the past few years [2]. Though several different types of atomization processes are used in the industry, twin fluid atomization practices have been quite common and effective. Twin fluid atomization techniques can be broadly classified into Air Blast (AB) atomization, Effervescent Atomization (EA), and Flow Blurring (FB) atomization. Amongst these, FB atomization technique is a very recently developed concept that has demonstrated promising experimental results with high atomization efficiency. Researchers have conducted experiments to understand the process of atomization in a FB injector as well as the spray characteristics [2]. Initially, the fetal heart is a simple tube, consisting of just three layers and three specific areas. These primitive layers later develop into the myocardium and epicardium of the heart. The areas cranial (head) end, caudal (tail) end, and bulbus cordis eventually form the aorta and ventricles. Around the third week of pregnancy, the fetal heartbeat can be seen as a flicker on the ultrasound monitor. Eight weeks after conception, the fetal heart consists of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a healthy heart, the aorta is attached to the left ventricle for transportation of oxygen rich blood to the body. An overriding aorta, another defect of tetralogy of Fallot, is one in which oxygen poor blood flows directly into the aorta instead of into the pulmonary artery due to the aorta s position between the left and right ventricles. Narrowing of the pulmonary valve and the main pulmonary artery called pulmonary stenosis is the third defect of tetralogy of Fallot. This obstruction forces the heart to work harder and deprives the lungs of adequate amounts of oxygen rich blood. Because the heart is pumping at high pressure to move blood through the narrowed pulmonary valve, the muscle of the right ventricle becomes thicker than usual. This defect is known as right ventricular hypertrophy. A small percentage of children with tetralogy of Fallot may also suffer from an atrial septal defect (ASD). This is a hole in the septum that separates the atria of the heart. This is because over the years dating back to 1852 they have been pioneers in both their product production and distribution. Over the years they have faced a lot of criticism and setbacks. Most notably during Prohibition from 1920 through the early 1930s. In 2008 they were bought by the European company InBev and currently hold 49.6% of the market share. Today through the modern era they have also been one of the most successful companies when it comes to marketingtheir products. After World War II, Anheuser Busch entered into a time of prosperity and growth. In 1955, August A. Busch, Jr. made a personal television appearance to introduce the first successful new beer brand since Prohibition, Busch Bavarian. To help market the brand, August Jr. tied Busch to America s national pastime: baseball. In the 1950s, Anheuser Busch tapped into the growing medium of television and became the first brewery to sponsor a network television show, The Ken Murray Show, on CBS in 1950. Popular campaigns, such as Pick a Pair, which urged customers to buy not one but two six packs at a time, helped make Anheuser Busch the leading U.S. brewer in 1957 a position it retains today. In the 1970s, advertising featuring memorable slogans helped keep Anheuser Busch s products in the forefront of consumers minds. • 26. Identity In Elie Wiesel s Nightwood After reading Nightwood I have been radically altered. Not in the clichГ© sense where one comes from reading a book and proclaims his or her life different, but altered in the sense where I have been forced to confront the issue of my own identity through the text itself. The idea of the human condition which Barnes explores in the novel brings up for me more questions than answers. Do we all suffer cruelly at the hands of this abstract notion of love? Can we reconcile, within ourselves, the notions of love, animalism, identity and sexuality (or other cultural difference) after they are marginalized into the realm of other? Jeanette Winterson in her preface to Nightwood remarked The language [in Nightwood] is not about conveying information; it is about conveying meaning. It is hard to disagree with Winterson, especially taken in the context of Barnes not being able to communicate her feelings with people directly; it makes sense that she would communicate her feelings indirectly via her writing. In my attempts to explain Nightwood as a whole, that is its language, and the meaning that one can take from such a book, I find what draws me to this piece of literature aside from its complexity and richness are the way in which its characters, Felix Volkbein, Robin Vote, Dr. Matthew O Connor and Nora Flood seek out one another in hopes that the one will fulfill the other s desire. For the analytical discussion of the novel I would like to read the character Robin Vote, examine the locus of her abject, which is that place where the meaning between Object and Subject collapses the construction of the I (read: identity ) and allows the character to experience and occupy the space of symbolic terror as she sleepwalks in and out of Felix and Nora s ... • 27. The Human Psyche, By Michel De Montaigne And Sir Francis... When King David considered the majesty and greatness of God, he felt insignificant by comparison, and asks, what is man that you are mindful of him? In Psalm 8 of The Bible, David stands in awe of the majesty of the Lord, and when he realizes how vast and magnificent God truly is, he is even more amazed that God would take the time to notice him a mere mortal man. Buried deep in the humanpsyche is the desire to explore the subjects that give human life meaning, and the question of what it means to be human has been a source of contemplation for as long as recorded history. The Renaissance essayists, Michel de Montaigne and Sir Francis Bacon, with their immense minds and insatiable curiosity, used the literary form of the essayin an attempt to capture the world in its entirety and its diversity: every thought, every experience, and every inquiry in their work questions the intrinsic value of humanity. The intelligence and imagination of these two essayists becomes a small universe , in which the individual can articulate the way in which humans think about the world and their relation to it. Montaigne s essay, Of Experience (1580 92), and Bacon s Of Studies and Of Truth ( 1625) are critical meditations that raise fundamental questions about the nature of human endeavour, and suggest that knowledge of what it means to be human is to be found in observation through experience, rather than through reason alone. Technology is prevalent in our society, as well as its portrayal in the media, a seemingly essential aspect of our everyday lives. Although many idolize how technology has improved our lives, many fail to recognize technology s faults. By using three persuasive literary devices (pathos, logos, and ethos), Neil Postman expresses his concern for technological advancement and possible failure in the book Amusing Ourselves to Death. Logos appeals to logic; when using a persuasive device such as logos, you are using logical reasoning to appeal to the reader. When using logos, you must include facts, statistics, and citing credible sources. By using ethos, the author conveys his ideas while being well aware of what he is talking about by utilizing credible sources. Pathos, however, conveys the author s ideas by appealing to the reader s emotions. Postman does an outstanding job of orchestrating a piece using the most popular persuasive elements. Postman was able to incorporate all three of these devices into his book, but the most prominent one in my opinion, and that helps to best convey Postman s point, is logos; statistics and facts are two things you very rarely can fight against. Over and over Postman uses facts on how the media is basically dumbing us down. For example, Postman pointed out that with the rise of the televised age there was then a decrease in literacy. ... All five systematic reviews concluded that, the different psychotherapy techniques decrease mental health symptoms, increases engagement, and modestly decrease substance use (Ostacher, Perlis, Roy, Nierenberg, Calabrese, Stange, Salloum, Sachs, 2010), (Kilbourne,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All eight studies were various in race, ethnicities, and genders. However, the most frequent demographic in all the studies was an adult male. The two case studies had very weak sample sizes (Jones, Barrowclough, Callott, Day, Earnshaw, Wilson, 2011), (Biseul, Icick, Seguin, Bellivier, Scott, 2017). Case studies are supposed to have small samples. However, observing less than fifteen participants in a study cannot give an accurate depiction of how effective a treatment is, because it makes it hard to replicate the treatment in other population demographics. All three experimental designs had strong sample sizes. Both the pilot and follow up study completed by (Weiss, Griffin, Kolodzie, Greenfield, 2007), (Weiss, Griffin, Greenfield, Najavits, Wyner, Soto, Hennen, 2000) had a strong sample size. The sample size in the pilot study was 45, and the sample size in the follow up study was 61. This is a strong sample size for experimental designs because it includes various population demographics that make it easier to replicate. The study written by (Smelson,Kalman Losonczy, line,Sambamoorthi,Hill,Ziedonis 2012;2010) had 102 participants that were gathered from an inpatient psychiatric unit. This size is strong because it is reflective of the entire population. The research designs were: systematic reviews, experimental designs, and case studies. The research designs primarily ... • 45. Video Games Have On Culture The Far Reaching Influence Video Games Have on Culture All you can see on screen is a pair of arms holding a gun as you proceed down a poorly lit, grungy tunnel. Looking down, you can t see your own feet not because of the gloom, they simply weren t included in the design. A heads up display shows ammo, health, shields, and a motion tracker in the corner while an aiming reticule sits in the center of the screen. The graphics are shoddy at best by today s standards, but at the time it was released this was considered to be the cutting edge of video games. This is Halo: Combat Evolved, released in 2001, not even two decades ago. Now known as the first in the Halo series, at the time it was an example of how far video games had come; today it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In books, everything is laid before you, he says. There is nothing left for you to discover. Video games are the only forms of artistic expression that allow the authoritative voice of the author to remain true while allowing the observer to explore and experiment. This is especially true when looking at older creations, when the graphics and narratives were limited by the current technology, forcing players to draw heavily from their imaginations, becoming what Melissinos calls the game s third voice, the first voice being the designer of the game, and the second voice being the mechanics of the game itself (Tucker). One of the most memorable parts of any game is its main theme, the song that plays during the title screen . Originally simple 8 bit tunes meant to draw attention at arcades, a video game s soundtrack was handled by the programmers, limited to whatever space was left over after the game itself was complete (Hsu). As a result, early games such as Tetris had a single short, repetitive song that would loop constantly in the background, eventually becoming embedded in the player s brain. As technology developed to allow for more efficient data storage, companies were able to add longer and more complex songs. Eventually, as games became more immersive, the soundtrack became a way to emphasize what was occurring on screen (Hsu). With video games becoming an increasingly competitive ... If you are looking for a really authentic 60 s makeup look, you will want to go for dramatic, smoky eyes and nude lips. This look is quite different from the smoky eye and nude lip of today. The first step is to get all your supplies ready. You will need a good foundation with medium to heavy coverage, concealer, powder, brow pencil, frosty peach blush, black eyeshadow, a lash curler, false lashes, mascara and nude lip pencil and beige lipstick. The first thing to do is to apply your foundation. You can apply the foundation with your fingers if you wish or use a damp makeup sponge. One tip is to do what the pros do and use a foundation brush. Use concealer to cover up any imperfections of the skin such as dark undereye circles and blemishes. For this look, apply foundation even to your lips so that there is a nude base for your liner and lipstick. Set your base with a liberal dusting of powder. The look should be matte, not dewy. Unruly brows can be held in place with a dab of brow gel, clear mascara or even a little hair gel. Next, use an eyeshadow applicator or brush to apply the black shadow to the lids and crease. Blend gently. Wet the applicator and dip it into the black shadow again. With the wet shadow, apply a dramatic line to the upper and lower lash lines. You may also want to use liquid black eyeliner if you don t like using wet shadow. Wing the liner out at the outer corners for a cat eye look. After the liner is dry, apply the false eyelashes. • 48. Cultural Differences Between The Nisei And The Issei In 1869, the first Japanese Immigrants arrived in California in an attempt to escape the Meiji restoration, which forced them out of their houses. Many joined them in America after that, forming the first generation of Japanese Americans, the Issei. Those immigrants then formed families and gave birth to the second generation, the Nisei. However, the cultural differences between the Issei and the Nisei, who were all born in America, created an important gap between the two generations. The short story Seventeen Syllables , through the relation between Rosie, a Nisei young girl, and Tome Hayashi, her mother, is a good depiction of this issue. First of all, the lack of a common language between the Nisei and the Issei was the main problem in their relations. Most the Nisei went to American schools where they learned everything in English. The Issei, for their part, had learned Japanese as their first language. In Seventeen Syllables , Rosie only has little knowledge in Japanese. Here, the author describes a bit more her level in that language: It was about cats, and Rosie pretended to understand it thoroughly and appreciate it no end, partly because she hesitated to disillusion her mother about the quantity and quality of Japanese she had learned in all the years now that she had been going to Japanese school every Saturday (and Wednesday, too, in the summer). (170) It reflects the delicate situation in which that ignorance put the Nisei. To make their parents proud, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
