Functional Areas of Business
The functional areas of business are management, law, human resources management, leadership,
accounting, finance, economics, research and statistics, operations management, marketing, and
strategic planning. Although, all of the functional areas are essential to the success of a organization,
two areas stand out as key to getting the business started and keeping it profitable, and they are human
resources management and the accounting area (University of Phoenix, 2013).
The Human Resources Management (HRM) area of business focuses on utilizing people as business
resources. The HRM is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The roles of the managerial accounting manager are to make decisions, forecast and plan, and create
budgets for the organization. The accounting manager has to be detailed and precise in making
decisions. The decisions they make are used by the division managers for them to adjust their
strategies for achieving their goals. Decisions made by the manager can range from what the company
should charge for a product or service to how much it should cost the organization to make or supply
the product or service. The accuracy of the managerial accounting manager s decisions is essential to
the organizations managers balancing the supply and demand for their areas (Johnson, 2013). The
most basic role of the accounting manager is budgeting. The budgeting process allows managers to
allocate resources to the most financially need departments, and eliminates programs and departments
that are not effectively using the resources (Managerial Accountant s Role in Business Planning, para.
5).
The budgets that the accounting managers have to generate can vary from industry to industry, but
some common budgets are sales, production, and cash budgets (Johnson, 2013).
Similar to the managerial accounting manager, the financial accounting manager is responsible for
generating certain reports that revolve around cost. However, the

The case against Judicial Review Essay
The Case Against Judicial Review
In order to make a case against judicial review it is first important to understand the origins. Born in
1803 out of the landmark United States Supreme Court decision of Marbury V. Madison, judicial
review gives the court the power to invalidate any law repugnant (or in conflict with) to the
constitution. Judicial review has for the courts, become a self made license to strike down legitimately
made legislation by democratically elected representatives. It has been a tool to restrain laws that are
in the bill stage by the threat that if the bill materializes into law then at its first challenge the court
will strike it down.
In a democratically elected society it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is exemplified by an individual who has brought a case through the court or legal system. Now
that its at the U.S. Supreme Court the person seeks to have the words under God removed from the
pledge of allegiance (the success of this case is unlikely because of how the court has a conservative
right wing majority). Another example of a group with their own agenda undermining democracy is
the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). The ACLU is seeking to repeal the Bush administration
s highly touted Patriot Act. This is an example of a group that is making it their mission to skirt the
proper channels of American democracy and use the judiciary to get sweeping policy change with or
without the consent of the governed people.
Judicial review has become the tool of choice for all the public interest law firms. It is through judicial
review they are able to get (properly enacted) laws struck down or thrown out. Judicial review goes
from being a tool with the intent of protecting the constitution to manipulating the legitimately enacted
laws.
In conclusion of the second argument against judicial review, it is inappropriate for individuals and
groups to have the ability to make frivolous attacks on laws that are democratically enacted.
Furthermore, it is inappropriate to clog the judiciary with requests such as removing under God from
the pledge of allegiance when they should speak to their congressman or senator over the

Indigenous People In Canada Essay
Terminology: Different terminology is used to describe groups of people. In Canada it had been
commonly accepted to say Aboriginal or First Nations people; however, nowadays, the term
Indigenous is more appropriate. Indigenous people are those, living on Canadian territories before
Europeans arrival. The term includes First Nations, Metis, and Inuit. All these groups have a unique
culture, languages, and beliefs.
History: Indigenous communities have existed for thousands of years on the Canadian territories.
They lived as independent nations, with different degrees of socio cultural, political and economic
complexity. After European came, their interactions were divided into four periods: first mutual
respect, second first conflicts, third ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, accordingly to Maldonado, Having an Indian status does not necessarily mean free
universities and no taxes (lecture, November 15, 2016). The Canadian s stereotypes about Indigenous
people and their favorable position in the society is based on the misunderstanding and leads to the
discrimination they are still facing nowadays. Although Canada s bill of rights were created in 1960
and gave people the right for equality, liberty, and freedom of speech and religion, even the fact of
existence of Residential Schools makes it obvious that Ingenious people were still harshly
discriminated. Those schools, where children were kept away from their families and taught that their
culture was evil, that their parents were pagans, that their identity was primitive, existed till 1996 and
have been teaching approximately 150,000 First Nation, Inuit and Metis children (lecture, November
15, 2016). Residential School is an example of the discrimination against Aboriginals, trial to diminish
the culture, language and family connections of the whole nation. The formation of The Truth and
Reconciliation Commission of Canada was an essential step for the Government in order to renew the
positive relationships with Indigenous people. This commission worked on revealing the truth about
the Residential Schools and informing about it all Canadians. I believe that creating such programs is
an important part of history of social policy in Canada as it fosters positive relationships between
different groups of

Samsung Electronics Company: Global Marketing Operations
Company Background and Strategy
The Samsung conglomerate s roots dated back to 1938 when the company produced agricultural
products. In the 1970s, the company focused on shipbuilding, chemicals, and textiles. Samsung
Electronics Company (SEC)2 was founded in 1969, primarily as a low cost manufacturer of black and
white televisions. In the 1970s, Samsung acquired a semiconductor business, thereby setting the stage
for future growth in electronics. Throughout the 1980s, SEC supplied global markets with massive
quantities of commodity products such as televisions, VCRs, and microwave ovens. The company

(Exhibit 1 shows the growth in revenues and profits between 1997 and 2002.) By 2003, Samsung was
the most widely held stock among all emerging market companies due in part to relatively transparent
disclosure practices. Over half of Samsung shares were held outside Korea, and the stock price had
increased tenfold between 1997 and 2002. The company had a market capitalization of $41 billion in
2002, making it the largest Asian electronics company by this measure. SEC Chairman Kun Hee Lee
led the transformation. In 1993, Lee launched the new management initiative, which set out to remake
Samsung as a global business leader. It was the changes that followed from this initiative that saved
the company during the Asian financial crisis and streamlined the company into a profitable
enterprise. Throughout the 1990s, Lee demanded the rethinking of key fundamentals and set the stage
for long term commitment to investment in innovative, premium products and brand value. Following
the chairman s new management initiative and the appointment of Yun Jong Yong as vice chairman in
1997, the company pursued a bold combination of strategies, many of which seemingly contradicted
conventional wisdom.
Vertical Integration

and inventory risk, Samsung remained committed to manufacturing as a core competence. If we get

What Can Sports Teach Us About Business Strategy
What can Sports Teach Us about Business Strategy? In recent times, no sports team has lived up to the
title of Underdogs as Leicester City have. When the 2015 16 English Premier League Season began,
few could have imagined the shock that was about to follow. A team that had just scraped off
relegation last season, had very few financial resources and had a new head coach, went on to perform
the greatest miracle seen in English Football history. To put it in perspective, the odds of Leicester
winning the English Premier League at 5000 1, was deemed more unlikely than the Second Coming of
Jesus Christ by British Bookmakers. It is indeed a fairytale and one which any person with a dream
would want to follow. While I was witnessing this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brings me to the importance of acquisitions in Businesses. Acquisitions done at the right time can
turn around the fortunes of any enterprise. For Example, Founded in 1911, the rapidly growing
Swedish pharmaceutical company Pharmacia, showcased its first demonstration of market power with
the purchase American rivals Upjohn in 1995 and Monsanto less than five years later. During that time
Monsanto, had been developing the anti inflammatory drug known as Celecoxib , which had been
eyed by Pfizer during its development stages. Beaten to the punch by Pharmacia, the American Pfizer
announced the purchasing deal of Pharmacia as a whole in July 2002 with the transaction tag of $60bn
(U.S). Less than seven years later Pfizer would agree to purchase rival Wyeth for approximately
$68bn (U.S). Today, Pfizer Inc. is worth as much as twice its value at $172bn (U.S). Taking another
example, at one point Bank One Corp was the sixth largest bank in U.S.It was the first of many

The Women s Liberation Movement
Beginning in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century women began to vocalize their opinions
and desires for the right to vote. The Women s Suffrage movement paved the way to the nineteenth
Amendment in the United States Constitution that allowed women that right. The Women s Suffrage
movement started a movement for equal rights for women that has continued to propel equal
opportunities for women throughout the country. The Women s Liberation Movement has sparked

In America the Women s Liberation movement has been embraced by how women are valued for
more than baring children, but we often do not consider the ramifications the transition has had on our
society. Feminist Marlene Dixon has said that although women have done wonderful work in ending
oppression for themselves, oppression still exist, only in psychological sense of the word. Dixon
writes, Individualized struggles between men and women around the oppressive attitudes and
objective sexual and social privileges is the consequence of the psychological oppression that is taking
place in the minds of women, and men, who are being hyper sexualized in the need for attention.
Taking into consideration the amount of emphasis is placed on a woman s sex appeal Dixons ideas
cannot be disregarded. With women increasing their assets in the work force and decreasing a mans
need in relationships, women are marketing their bodies to prove that they are still can be desirable
and relying on the opposite sex. By allowing ourselves to be used as sexual properties in advertising it
is giving men and other women the notion that women are only desirable if they can be physically
attracted to the masses. As feminist, and women these sexual barriers need to be brought down to

Dr King Nobel Peace Prize Speech Sparknotes
Dr. King s Nobel Peace Prize Lecture was one of the most powerful reading assignments during my

one person could change the world. Dr. King believed in non violence in order to obtain social justice,

justice is both impractical and immoral. I am not unmindful of the fact that violence often brings about

King preached tenets of universal love; moreover, King fought against despair, racial separatism, and

The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot
T.S. Eliot s most famous poem The Wasteland, a grim picture of post war London is analyzed as being
the most important poetic work of the twentieth century. The first glance at this poem leads one to the
conclusion that the content of this piece is bleak and depressing. The assumption can be made that
Eliot has diagnosed his society with a terminal disease, which he chooses to describe through his
poem. After further analyzing The Wasteland it can be seen that out of the dust of this barren place
there shines a light of hope. In this decayed hole among the mountains/In the faint moonlight, the
grass is singing (361 62). The decaying world being serenaded by the grass under the moonlight
reinforces the idea that out of desolation, something wonderful can be found or created. Eliot scatters
The Wasteland with motifs in the setting that directly contrast to the fertile periods of society in
previous years. Eliot intentionally manipulates an obscure water motif in order to illustrate nature and
life. Just like water is constantly altered in structure through its path, Eliot s poem continually changes
due to his literary structure of writing: stream of consciousness. It is strange to think of a description
of a barren land being writhe with water. Eliot discusses a drought in a desolate dessert, yet also talks
about the abundance of it in the drowning of the Phoenician Sailor. He seemingly contradicts himself
in his discussion. Water is a symbol of fertility, how can this

Wonder Woman s Relationship to Feminism
History affords that American popular culture has relished the abundance of comic books. This
indulgence was heightened with the introduction of comic superheroes in the years after the Great
Depression, which largely helped to boost the low spirits of a nation just emerging from a dark period
of economic turbulence. An important fact worth noting is that most of these comic superheroes were,
sadly, only male, perhaps echoing the culture that was practiced then, with regard to the equal
acceptance of women. However, and as stated by Community Cinema (2014), this was to change in
1941 when Harvard educated psychologist and lawyer, William M. Marston, created Wonder Woman.
So what exactly was the inspiration behind this particular line of thought? In answering this question,
perhaps it should be mentioned that the creator of the Wonder Woman as a comic character was
staunch supporter of early women rights movements. The story of the Wonder Woman evolves
through different phases; the golden age, silver age, modern age, and the new 52 which is the recent
version of the comic story. The purpose of this paper is to address the interrelationship between the
character of the Wonder Woman, and modern feminism, paying special attention to the impact on the
progression of women rights. In order to comprehend the relationship between Wonder Woman and
feminism, it is important that we grasp the perspective of Marston; that even girls would not want to
be girls, so long as the female

Comparing Clothing in Knight s Tale and the Miller s Tale...
One of the striking differences between the Knyghts Tale and the Millers Tale (which is supposed to
quit(e) the Knyghts Tale) is that of clothing (the former tale) and lack of clothing (in the latter). Upon
an inspection of the General Prologue s description of the Knyght, I found that clothing is a very
signifcant part of the Knyght s Tale. Chaucer s decription of him may forshadow (or, since Chaucer
wrote the tales after they were told, color his perceptions of the Knyght) the importance of clothing in
the Knyght s Tale. Special attention is paid to the Knyght s coat of mail.

But this ornament may in fact hinder the tale. When Chaucer began the Tales with the Knyght s Tale,
he was probably quite aware that he was going to borrow heavily from other tales. ...Scholarship has
uncovered and stressed his strong relationship to conventional rhetoric... (Finlayson 133). Chaucer
probably felt as if he was about to be bound by the fact that he was borrowing from another tale (from
Boccaccio s Il Teseida delle nozze d Emilia), and that he would have to change it to make it his own.
The characters that he uses are bound by literary stereotypes and narrative function which they fulfil
rather than transcend or reject. (Finlayson 147). Chaucer transcends the Romantic stereotype, but the
characters don t. The characters are bound to convention and the ornament of Romance, much like
they are bound by thier clothes that define them, keep them from true human (flesh) contact, and that
ultimately destroys them.
The first significant mention of clothing is when, after Theseus has conquered Thebes, the soldiers go

The Political System And The United Kingdom Essay
The political systems in the United States of America, and the United Kingdom are fairly different due
to several policies. The most predominant difference that could be deducted from their policies is the
difference in selecting their government. The United States base their elections off of what is known
as the Electoral College. The Electoral College is a process that was created by the founding fathers,
written in the Constitution. Not only is it a compromise made between the election of the President by
a vote in Congress, but also the election of the President due to popular vote of eligible citizens. In
total, there are 538 electors that make up the Electoral College. However, for the President to be
elected there is a required majority of 270 electoral votes that need to be won. If you obtain the most
votes within a state, then you will win the seats of that state that help the potential President to get 270
electoral votes. The way in which the number of seats in each state is decided is through
Congressional delegation; there is one for each member of the House of Representatives, and two
others for the Senators. The Electoral College is particularly interesting due to the reason that even if
you win the popular vote, you may not necessarily be elected as President. The most recent example
of this is the 2016 presidential election between democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and republican
Donald Trump. Clinton did in fact receive more votes than Trump; however,

originated by and sustained by Nigerian immigrants, the members at Nigerian youth Alliance are more
than what they look like in the surface. Even though they are immigrants in the United States, they
have integrated into American culture and hold a concept of morals not controlled by ethnocentrism. I
have always observed immigrants to be ethnocentric. Nevertheless, expectations based on speculation
are poor. Also, same can be said about drawing deductions established on cultural formations. Culture

The undercurrents of culture can be seen in an immigrant organization. By offering acceptable

anthropology plays an important role in the dynamics of not just this immigrant organization but also

The Battle Of The Second Triumvirate
The Battle of Philippi was the last fought battle of the wars of the second Triumvirate. These wars
were a fight between the forces of Marc Antony and Octavian of the Second Triumvirate, and the
forces of Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus. Brutus and Cassius were the
assassinators of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony and Octavian were very close allies with Julius Caesar
and Octavian would become the heir to his throne after the assassination. Because of this, Marc
Antony and Octavian would wage a war against Brutus and Cassius to avenge their ally Julius Caesar.
Immediately following the assassination of Caesar, Brutus and Cassius fled to Italy to take control of
the Eastern provinces. The three main Caesarian leaders, Antony, ... Show more content on

With the arrival of Republican admiral Gnaeus Domitus Ahenobarbus, communications back to Italy
were made very difficult because of the large fleet of ships that he brought with him which blockaded
the triumvirate. These fleets of the Liberators did not wish to engage in a physical battle with the
Triumvirate, but only to block their communications with their supply base back in Italy. With this
swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own defensive positions
forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving west giving the Liberators the upper
hand at this spot. Brutus and Cassius were able to gain position on the Via Egnatia on each side with
this fleet. To the north and south were impassable marshes and mountains. Brutus and Cassius then
split their forces each manning a North and South defensive position of the Via Egnatia. After arriving
to the scene, Marc Antony put his troops to the south while Octavian put his troops to the north,
preparing for battle with the Liberators. Marcus Junius Brutus was always known in history as being
too soft of a general. Although he had little successful battle victories in Thrace and Lycia, he had
always been judged as being lacking in authority when it came to the generalship of his troops.
Because of this, Brutus was commonly referred to as a statesman than a military commander. The
other Liberator commander, Gaius

The Expansion Of The Oil Sands
Canada has always been a leader in the oil sands industry. Over the past few years there has been
controversy in Canada over oil production. Some say we should continue to expand the production of
oil and others say we should try to reduce our production. The first article Why Canada needs to
develop the oil sands by Konrad Yakabuski argues that Canada should continue to expand the oil
sands. Contradictory to the first article, the second article Stop oilsands expansion, Canadian and U.S.
researchers say argues that Canada should stop expanding the oil sands. In this paper both articles are
summarized and compared based on factors that could influence the reader. In this paper I will argue
that the article that supports the expansion of the oil sands is more convincing as it is better organized
and the writing style makes the reader think about the issue more so than the other article. The first
article Why Canada needs to develop the oil sands by Konrad Yakabuski argues the point that Canada
should continue the expansion of the oil sands. The article first addresses the critics to the plan to
expand the oil sands as it states that critics warn that Canada risks becoming a petro state akin to Iran
or Nigeria . The next couple of paragraphs address this statement and the author points out that overall
our economy is very diverse and the oil sands are unlikely to expand so much that our economy is
totally reliant on them. The next point the article brings up

Teen Drinking Essay
The average American begins drinking at 15 years old, despite the fact that the legal drinking age in
the United States is 21 years old. Underage alcohol use is more likely to kill young people than all
illicit drugs combined. I believe that raising the drinking age to 25 years old can save many young
lives.
Affects of Adolescent Drinking Adolescent drinking affects a child s mind, body and future.
Adolescence is the between childhood and adulthood. During this time alcohol use may interrupt brain
development. Hippocampus, the part of the brain important forfvb fg learning and memory has been
proven to be smaller in people that have started drinking in a young age. In a recent study where short

The condition, delirium tremens, known primarily to heavy drinkers, causes hallucinations along with
loss of control of muscular functioning. When this condition develops and the alcoholic slows their
drinking, withdrawal syndrome can and usually does. This may include agitation, tremors, seizures,
and hallucinations.
Social Consequences Car crashes are the leading cause of death among youth ages 15 to 20 years old.
Adolescents already are at a high risk being inexperienced drivers. Drivers younger that 21 are more
likely to have alcohol induced impairment of driving skills than older drivers. The rate of fatal crashes
among alcohol involved drivers between 16 23 is more than twice the rate for alcohol involved drivers
24 and older. Sexual assault, including rape, occurs mostly with women in late in late teens and early
twenties, usually with a date. In a survey, approximately 10 percent of female high school students
reported having been raped. Research suggests that alcohol use by the offender, the victim, or both,
increases the likelihood of sexual assault by a male.
Adolescent alcohol use with high–risk sex (having multiple sexual partners and not using any
condoms) produces serious outcome. The consequences of high–risk sex also are common in this age
group, particularly unwanted pregnancy and

Analysis Of Harley Davidson s Life
Summary of analysis and recommendations.
Harley Davidson has been operating as a U.S. motorcycle manufacturer since 1903. Throughout its
life, it has been through many hardships, but just as many successes. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s
Harley Davidson experienced tremendous difficulties and almost went bankrupt in 1985. To its
dismay, in the 1990s Harley Davidson experienced several years of record growth and was ranked in
1990 by BusinessWeek as one of the top U.S. companies with a market value of $515 million. As a
sign of their success, they remain the only U.S. motorcycle manufacturer still in business. Harley
Davidson has competed in the U.S. and international markets against 140 other manufacturers, most of
which were larger and far better financed then they were. In 1985, Harley Davidson was emerging
from its hardships and growing as one of the top five motorcycle manufacturers in U.S. market shares,
while also having 31% of its sales coming from overseas. Its international sales were increasing as
they had partnered with a European parts warehouse in Germany and a joint venture in Japan. In
addition to these relationships, it had also partnered with 851 U.S and international dealerships.
As a business, Harley Davidson focused on three major business segments 1) motorcycles and related
products; 2) transportation (both recreational and commercial); and 3) defense and other businesses. In
order to continue its success as a motorcycle manufacturer, the

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome ( Cprs ) Essay
Complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy is an
autonomic and central nervous system disease that results in an individual s experiencing chronic pain
(Ferrillo, 2016). Pain usually happens in one or more generalized region of the extremities, such as the
arms, hands, legs, or feet, but can also affect other parts of the body. Although the particular origin of
the disease is undetermined, the majority of the time CRPS is caused by a significant trauma; such as a
fracture, sprain, burn, cut, bruise, limb immobilization, or a surgical procedure (Ferrillo, 2016). CRPS
stems from a neurological dysfunction that generates severe pain, mild or dramatic changes in skin
color, temperature, and swelling in the affected area (National Institute of Neurological disorders and
Stroke, 2015). There are two types of complex regional pain syndrome, type I is no apparent nerve
injury and may it develop following a noxious event that may or may not have been traumatic. Types
II develop after a nerve injury of the affected area (Carr, Cerda, Fiala, 2016).
CRPS is uncommon, amongst all individuals, however, can easily affect a person after a traumatic
injury to a limb. CRPS symptoms differ in severity and duration and the outcome for each individual
is different, for example, children and teenager have a higher prospect of recovering, whereas others
are left with irreversible variations regardless of treatment (National Institute of Neurological

What Word Home Means To You Essay
What the Word Home Means to You
Home noun
1. The place where you live.
2. The place where you where born or feel you belong.
I feel that the dictionary meaning of home is the same as my opinion of the word. Home for me is
where I feel without care and is where I can live without fear. My home is in Bolden Colliery, South
Shields in that unique northeastern town of Newcastle in England.
For me it was very hard to establish where home was because my parents are of different nationalities.

For example here people can make more money due to the taxation rates and people can buy more
luxury items. I benefit from being able to roam the streets alone until eleven o clock at night. In
England I would have to be at home at eight o clock or go out with a big group of friends for security.
Naturally I love these benefits. The feature about Dubai that I dislike is that good friends a very hard
to come across. This is partly because, in my opinion, people here are very fake and do not appreciate
how lucky they are to be here. Another reason why it is hard to make good friends is because your
friend or you will have to leave the country. This is due to a new contract that your parents have
received, to work in another country, or the current contract to work in this country has ended.
My house in Dubai is a single story, terraced villa and is situated in a nice area of the rapidly evolving
city. The villa has a total of six rooms. It has two spacious bedrooms, one equipped with an en suite
bathroom. The second bathroom is found in the hall. Moving from the hall the next room is the

Differences On Body And Tissue Weights
Results and Discussion
Body and Tissue Weights
The initial body weight of rats was similar (p value=0.19). At the end of the experimental period, the
HFFr+S rats had a near doubling of visceral fat weight, compared to the control group (6.9±1.1 g vs.
3.4±0.4 g, p value=0.009), while it was slightly and non significantly lower in the other groups,
especially in the rats gavaged with the high dose of metformin (200 mg/kg/day). After 60 days, no
significant differences were found between the groups regarding the final body weight and liver/body
weight percentage (Table 2). This suggests that the excess energy intake of HFFr rats have led to a
greater adiposity, but not to a higher body weight.

In this study, HFFr diet, calcium vitamin D3 supplementation and oral gavage administration of

serum CTRP3 (also known as cartonectin, cartducin, CORS 26) was significantly higher in the

Competitive Advantages Of Competitive Advantage Essay
Question 1: Competitive advantages are conditions that permit an organization or nation to deliver a
decent or administration at a lower cost or in a more alluring manner for clients. These conditions
permit the gainful element to produce a bigger number of offers or unrivaled edges than its opposition.
Competitive advantages are ascribed to an assortment of components, including cost structure, mark,
nature of item offerings, dispersion and system, licensed innovation and customer support. Samsung
had settled on the choice to receive design as a wellspring of competitive advantage in the 1990s.
Prior, the company s items had been unsatisfying and undifferentiated. In the mid1990s, the Group
administrator, Kun Hee Lee, started Samsung s change from a low end OEM into a world class
gadgets organization. Honing the company s design aptitudes was a critical part of the activity. Be that
as it may, this required significant changes in culture, procedures, and frameworks inside the
organization. Samsung understood that competitive advantage can be accomplished through the
design innovation. Samsung s voyage toward design greatness began in 1993. That year, Lee
supposedly went by a gadgets store in Los Angeles, USA. He saw, sadly, that the Samsung items in
plain view looked ugly, while the results of Sony and some different organizations looked a great deal
all the more engaging. He discovered too that the business staff at the store were themselves

The successful organization is the one that communicates well both internally and with other

the more successful it is.
At work a great of information is convoyed in technical documents, some of the tasks tackled by their

information. Most of it is prepared by professionals, such as engineers, scientists and other

The Compact Cameras And My Pocket Sized Camera
As a present, my husband announced that I was to research the newest compact cameras so that I
could update my pocket sized camera. Previously I had a Kodak compact camera however the features
were lacking and it was starting to eat batteries, it was time for a new camera. It was shocking to find
that compact cameras have come a long way since the last time I purchase a compact camera just five
years ago. There were many cameras to choose from and most were under $200.00. Here are my top
eight picks for compact cameras for under $200.00. They are listed in no order of quality or price. 1.
Sony Cybershot W120: If you are looking for a colorful camera to express yourself, this is the camera
for you. It comes in the original silver, or one can choose the same camera in black, pink, blue, or red.
Choosing a color is nice but I found that some colors were $50.00 or more, just to have a color on the
outside case. Similar to the Olympus FE 300, it contains a 15 MB internal memory; 4x Optical Zoom;
2.5 1 LCD Display; Lithium Ion battery; and utilizes a Memory Stick Duo for memory. The only
downside of the camera is that it contains only 7.2 Megapixels, much under the Olympus camera. I
have talked to a friend that owns this camera which states that the camera is good for tons of lighting
like outdoors but does not work well indoors with lower, florescent lighting. It can be purchased at
just about any store for under $200.00, especially at Wal Mart. 2. Canon Powershot SD1100

Fever Epidemic In Laurie Halse Anderson s Fever 1793
The historical fiction story Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson takes place in Philadelphia during
the yellow fever epidemic of 1793. Matilda, the main character in the story, wanted to go out and
explore the city. Her mother wouldn t let her go out because of the fear of the yellow fever. Because of
this fear, people started leaving the city of Philadelphia and went to the country. Because of this, a
good theme for Fever 1793 would be that if people stayed in Philadelphia and worked together, there
would be better outcomes. If people worked together there would be better outcomes. For example,
Mattie and Eliza walked around the city helping others that had the fever. They were working together
and there was a better outcome. People who were sick got taken care of when they were forgotten by
others. The outcome was also better for Mattie as she matured and helped Eliza when she didn t need
to. No... I m not going anywhere. The work will go faster if you have me there. Mattie says. (pg. 196)
Mattie was helping the sick and the dying and both people had a better outcome. Therefore, when
people work together there are better outcomes for everyone. Certainly it could be said that when
people work together there are worst outcomes. While this is a good point... it fails to account for the
fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to help prevent another epidemic. Anderson creates the lesson in Fever 1793 by using dialogue and
inner thoughts. By the end, it is clear that people started to working together to create better

Impact Of The Job Design On Retail Banking
Introduction As a financial service provider, the banking industry employs an abundance of
standardized processes. In order to deliver a professional, accurate and fast service to customers, as
well as to maintain the motivation and performance of banking staff, it is critical to design a smooth
and friendly process for various types of service requests, or in other words, to allocate the tasks to
appropriate positions. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the impacts on performance resulting
from the job design in retail banking so as to demonstrate the ability of the author to apply the
operations management concept into real life. When companies plan to reengineer or redesign the job,
they could use the Job Characteristic Model (JCM), which was developed by Richard Hackman and
Greg Oldham. The basic idea of the model is that task itself can drive the motivation and performance
of employees (Saavedra Kwun, 2000, p. 132). There are five core job characteristics, including skill
variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback, which influence psychological states
of meaningfulness of job, responsibility for outcomes and knowledge of the actual results (Slack,
Brandon Jones Johnston, 2013, p. 264). Eventually, the above mentioned psychological states will
result in four aspects of personal outcomes, including motivation, quality performance, satisfaction as
well as absenteeism and turnover (Slack et al., 2013, p. 264). However, the theory does not

Jumping Frog
Based on Mark Twain s comparisons of a comic versus humorous story, The Celebrated Jumping Frog
of Calaveras County, is Twain s most famous humorous story. How to Tell a Story by Mark Twain is
clearly shown in this jumping frog story and abides by the rules he has set forth according to the
countless expert storytellers he has heard from by word of mouth. Today we will explore what makes
the jumping frog story a humorous one rather an a witty one and explain how Twain accomplished
what he did. From the subject of telling a story gravely , how one tells a nub , and how it contrasts to a
comical story. The secret is being expressionless. Twain mention that in order to master a humorous
story, it must be told gravely. Well, what does that exactly mean? In the first few paragraphs we can
see how our author presents Simon Wheeler as seemingly to have an impartialness, neutrality, yet true
genuineness about him as he tells the story. To the author, nothing seemed ridiculous to him no matter
how crazy the story progressed. That is exactly what gravely means. When a person builds up a story
as a bland, ordinary thing although it is evidently the contrary, it becomes the most comedic tale, and
that is what Twain takes advantage of in Wheeler s personality, whether he realizes it or not. It takes a

Promiscuity In 1001 Arabian Nights
The story of 1001 Arabian Nights is an interesting collection of stories but the prologue is even more
fascinating. The King, Shahryar went on a rampage where he would marry the daughter of a merchant

Most of the times both parties do not set out to hurt each other, they probably have been betrayed and

Similarities Between The Wife s Bath And The Pardoners Tale
Throughout The Canterbury Tales, there are many different tales with many different plot lines. In The

storyline of The Wife s Bath there is a knight who commits a terrible sin. He has raped a girl and the
townspeople believe he should be faced with the punishment of death. King Arthur and the Queen
believe differently, they believe he should get one chance of life and they send him on a year long
quest to get one question answered correctly. He assumed this would be a breeze and took this lightly,

Functional Areas of Business Functional Areas of Business La Kisha Thomas University of Phoenix Management MGT 521 Greg Luce February 11, 2013 Functional Areas of Business The functional areas of business are management, law, human resources management, leadership, accounting, finance, economics, research and statistics, operations management, marketing, and strategic planning. Although, all of the functional areas are essential to the success of a organization, two areas stand out as key to getting the business started and keeping it profitable, and they are human resources management and the accounting area (University of Phoenix, 2013). The Human Resources Management (HRM) area of business focuses on utilizing people as business resources. The HRM is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The roles of the managerial accounting manager are to make decisions, forecast and plan, and create budgets for the organization. The accounting manager has to be detailed and precise in making decisions. The decisions they make are used by the division managers for them to adjust their strategies for achieving their goals. Decisions made by the manager can range from what the company should charge for a product or service to how much it should cost the organization to make or supply the product or service. The accuracy of the managerial accounting manager s decisions is essential to the organizations managers balancing the supply and demand for their areas (Johnson, 2013). The most basic role of the accounting manager is budgeting. The budgeting process allows managers to allocate resources to the most financially need departments, and eliminates programs and departments that are not effectively using the resources (Managerial Accountant s Role in Business Planning, para. 5). The budgets that the accounting managers have to generate can vary from industry to industry, but some common budgets are sales, production, and cash budgets (Johnson, 2013). Similar to the managerial accounting manager, the financial accounting manager is responsible for generating certain reports that revolve around cost. However, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The case against Judicial Review Essay The Case Against Judicial Review In order to make a case against judicial review it is first important to understand the origins. Born in 1803 out of the landmark United States Supreme Court decision of Marbury V. Madison, judicial review gives the court the power to invalidate any law repugnant (or in conflict with) to the constitution. Judicial review has for the courts, become a self made license to strike down legitimately made legislation by democratically elected representatives. It has been a tool to restrain laws that are in the bill stage by the threat that if the bill materializes into law then at its first challenge the court will strike it down. In a democratically elected society it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is exemplified by an individual who has brought a case through the court or legal system. Now that its at the U.S. Supreme Court the person seeks to have the words under God removed from the pledge of allegiance (the success of this case is unlikely because of how the court has a conservative right wing majority). Another example of a group with their own agenda undermining democracy is the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). The ACLU is seeking to repeal the Bush administration s highly touted Patriot Act. This is an example of a group that is making it their mission to skirt the proper channels of American democracy and use the judiciary to get sweeping policy change with or without the consent of the governed people. Judicial review has become the tool of choice for all the public interest law firms. It is through judicial review they are able to get (properly enacted) laws struck down or thrown out. Judicial review goes from being a tool with the intent of protecting the constitution to manipulating the legitimately enacted laws. In conclusion of the second argument against judicial review, it is inappropriate for individuals and groups to have the ability to make frivolous attacks on laws that are democratically enacted. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to clog the judiciary with requests such as removing under God from the pledge of allegiance when they should speak to their congressman or senator over the ... • 4. Indigenous People In Canada Essay Terminology: Different terminology is used to describe groups of people. In Canada it had been commonly accepted to say Aboriginal or First Nations people; however, nowadays, the term Indigenous is more appropriate. Indigenous people are those, living on Canadian territories before Europeans arrival. The term includes First Nations, Metis, and Inuit. All these groups have a unique culture, languages, and beliefs. History: Indigenous communities have existed for thousands of years on the Canadian territories. They lived as independent nations, with different degrees of socio cultural, political and economic complexity. After European came, their interactions were divided into four periods: first mutual respect, second first conflicts, third ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, accordingly to Maldonado, Having an Indian status does not necessarily mean free universities and no taxes (lecture, November 15, 2016). The Canadian s stereotypes about Indigenous people and their favorable position in the society is based on the misunderstanding and leads to the discrimination they are still facing nowadays. Although Canada s bill of rights were created in 1960 and gave people the right for equality, liberty, and freedom of speech and religion, even the fact of existence of Residential Schools makes it obvious that Ingenious people were still harshly discriminated. Those schools, where children were kept away from their families and taught that their culture was evil, that their parents were pagans, that their identity was primitive, existed till 1996 and have been teaching approximately 150,000 First Nation, Inuit and Metis children (lecture, November 15, 2016). Residential School is an example of the discrimination against Aboriginals, trial to diminish the culture, language and family connections of the whole nation. The formation of The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada was an essential step for the Government in order to renew the positive relationships with Indigenous people. This commission worked on revealing the truth about the Residential Schools and informing about it all Canadians. I believe that creating such programs is an important part of history of social policy in Canada as it fosters positive relationships between different groups of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the 1970s, the company focused on shipbuilding, chemicals, and textiles. Samsung Electronics Company (SEC)2 was founded in 1969, primarily as a low cost manufacturer of black and white televisions. In the 1970s, Samsung acquired a semiconductor business, thereby setting the stage for future growth in electronics. By 2003, Samsung was the most widely held stock among all emerging market companies due in part to relatively transparent disclosure practices. Over half of Samsung shares were held outside Korea, and the stock price had increased tenfold between 1997 and 2002. The company had a market capitalization of $41 billion in 2002, making it the largest Asian electronics company by this measure. SEC Chairman Kun Hee Lee led the transformation. In 1993, Lee launched the new management initiative, which set out to remake Samsung as a global business leader. It was the changes that followed from this initiative that saved the company during the Asian financial crisis and streamlined the company into a profitable enterprise. Throughout the 1990s, Lee demanded the rethinking of key fundamentals and set the stage for long term commitment to investment in innovative, premium products and brand value. Following the chairman s new management initiative and the appointment of Yun Jong Yong as vice chairman in 1997, the company pursued a bold combination of strategies, many of which seemingly contradicted conventional wisdom. Vertical Integration Instead of outsourcing production to external suppliers and thereby transferring the capital investment and inventory risk, Samsung remained committed to manufacturing as a core competence. • 7. What Can Sports Teach Us About Business Strategy What can Sports Teach Us about Business Strategy? In recent times, no sports team has lived up to the title of Underdogs as Leicester City have. When the 2015 16 English Premier League Season began, few could have imagined the shock that was about to follow. A team that had just scraped off relegation last season, had very few financial resources and had a new head coach, went on to perform the greatest miracle seen in English Football history. To put it in perspective, the odds of Leicester winning the English Premier League at 5000 1, was deemed more unlikely than the Second Coming of Jesus Christ by British Bookmakers. The Women s Suffrage movement paved the way to the nineteenth Amendment in the United States Constitution that allowed women that right. The Women s Suffrage movement started a movement for equal rights for women that has continued to propel equal opportunities for women throughout the country. In America the Women s Liberation movement has been embraced by how women are valued for more than baring children, but we often do not consider the ramifications the transition has had on our society. Feminist Marlene Dixon has said that although women have done wonderful work in ending oppression for themselves, oppression still exist, only in psychological sense of the word. Dixon writes, Individualized struggles between men and women around the oppressive attitudes and objective sexual and social privileges is the consequence of the psychological oppression that is taking place in the minds of women, and men, who are being hyper sexualized in the need for attention. Taking into consideration the amount of emphasis is placed on a woman s sex appeal Dixons ideas cannot be disregarded. With women increasing their assets in the work force and decreasing a mans need in relationships, women are marketing their bodies to prove that they are still can be desirable and relying on the opposite sex. By allowing ourselves to be used as sexual properties in advertising it is giving men and other women the notion that women are only desirable if they can be physically attracted to the masses. As an international student from Saudi Arabia, I never imagined that one person could change the world. Dr. King believed in non violence in order to obtain social justice, racial integration, and civil rights. In essence, Dr. King s speech represented the progressive nature of the United States and it motivated me to become a future leader in my home county, Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, King did not believe in violence and preached non violence. King felt that nonviolence was the only means to fight oppression, racism, and injustice. King preached tenets of universal love; moreover, King fought against despair, racial separatism, and hate. • 11. The Wasteland by T.S. Eliot T.S. Eliot s most famous poem The Wasteland, a grim picture of post war London is analyzed as being the most important poetic work of the twentieth century. The first glance at this poem leads one to the conclusion that the content of this piece is bleak and depressing. The assumption can be made that Eliot has diagnosed his society with a terminal disease, which he chooses to describe through his poem. After further analyzing The Wasteland it can be seen that out of the dust of this barren place there shines a light of hope. In this decayed hole among the mountains/In the faint moonlight, the grass is singing (361 62). The decaying world being serenaded by the grass under the moonlight reinforces the idea that out of desolation, something wonderful can be found or created. Eliot scatters The Wasteland with motifs in the setting that directly contrast to the fertile periods of society in previous years. Eliot intentionally manipulates an obscure water motif in order to illustrate nature and life. Just like water is constantly altered in structure through its path, Eliot s poem continually changes due to his literary structure of writing: stream of consciousness. It is strange to think of a description of a barren land being writhe with water. Eliot discusses a drought in a desolate dessert, yet also talks about the abundance of it in the drowning of the Phoenician Sailor. He seemingly contradicts himself in his discussion. Water is a symbol of fertility, how can this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Wonder Woman s Relationship to Feminism History affords that American popular culture has relished the abundance of comic books. This indulgence was heightened with the introduction of comic superheroes in the years after the Great Depression, which largely helped to boost the low spirits of a nation just emerging from a dark period of economic turbulence. An important fact worth noting is that most of these comic superheroes were, sadly, only male, perhaps echoing the culture that was practiced then, with regard to the equal acceptance of women. However, and as stated by Community Cinema (2014), this was to change in 1941 when Harvard educated psychologist and lawyer, William M. Marston, created Wonder Woman. So what exactly was the inspiration behind this particular line of thought? In answering this question, perhaps it should be mentioned that the creator of the Wonder Woman as a comic character was staunch supporter of early women rights movements. The story of the Wonder Woman evolves through different phases; the golden age, silver age, modern age, and the new 52 which is the recent version of the comic story. The purpose of this paper is to address the interrelationship between the character of the Wonder Woman, and modern feminism, paying special attention to the impact on the progression of women rights. In order to comprehend the relationship between Wonder Woman and feminism, it is important that we grasp the perspective of Marston; that even girls would not want to be girls, so long as the female ... One of the striking differences between the Knyghts Tale and the Millers Tale (which is supposed to quit(e) the Knyghts Tale) is that of clothing (the former tale) and lack of clothing (in the latter). Upon an inspection of the General Prologue s description of the Knyght, I found that clothing is a very signifcant part of the Knyght s Tale. Chaucer s decription of him may forshadow (or, since Chaucer wrote the tales after they were told, color his perceptions of the Knyght) the importance of clothing in the Knyght s Tale. (Finlayson 133). Chaucer probably felt as if he was about to be bound by the fact that he was borrowing from another tale (from Boccaccio s Il Teseida delle nozze d Emilia), and that he would have to change it to make it his own. The characters that he uses are bound by literary stereotypes and narrative function which they fulfil rather than transcend or reject. (Finlayson 147). Chaucer transcends the Romantic stereotype, but the characters don t. The characters are bound to convention and the ornament of Romance, much like they are bound by thier clothes that define them, keep them from true human (flesh) contact, and that ultimately destroys them. • 17. The Political System And The United Kingdom Essay The political systems in the United States of America, and the United Kingdom are fairly different due to several policies. The most predominant difference that could be deducted from their policies is the difference in selecting their government. The United States base their elections off of what is known as the Electoral College. The Electoral College is a process that was created by the founding fathers, written in the Constitution. Not only is it a compromise made between the election of the President by a vote in Congress, but also the election of the President due to popular vote of eligible citizens. In total, there are 538 electors that make up the Electoral College. However, for the President to be elected there is a required majority of 270 electoral votes that need to be won. If you obtain the most votes within a state, then you will win the seats of that state that help the potential President to get 270 electoral votes. The way in which the number of seats in each state is decided is through Congressional delegation; there is one for each member of the House of Representatives, and two others for the Senators. The Electoral College is particularly interesting due to the reason that even if you win the popular vote, you may not necessarily be elected as President. The most recent example of this is the 2016 presidential election between democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, and republican Donald Trump. Clinton did in fact receive more votes than Trump; however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With this swarming fleet they were able to outflank the Triumvirate and set up their own defensive positions forcing Norbanus and Saxa to retreat from their positions moving west giving the Liberators the upper hand at this spot. • 25. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome ( Cprs ) Essay Complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) formerly known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy is an autonomic and central nervous system disease that results in an individual s experiencing chronic pain (Ferrillo, 2016). Pain usually happens in one or more generalized region of the extremities, such as the arms, hands, legs, or feet, but can also affect other parts of the body. Although the particular origin of the disease is undetermined, the majority of the time CRPS is caused by a significant trauma; such as a fracture, sprain, burn, cut, bruise, limb immobilization, or a surgical procedure (Ferrillo, 2016). CRPS stems from a neurological dysfunction that generates severe pain, mild or dramatic changes in skin color, temperature, and swelling in the affected area (National Institute of Neurological disorders and Stroke, 2015). There are two types of complex regional pain syndrome, type I is no apparent nerve injury and may it develop following a noxious event that may or may not have been traumatic. Types II develop after a nerve injury of the affected area (Carr, Cerda, Fiala, 2016). CRPS is uncommon, amongst all individuals, however, can easily affect a person after a traumatic injury to a limb. CRPS symptoms differ in severity and duration and the outcome for each individual is different, for example, children and teenager have a higher prospect of recovering, whereas others are left with irreversible variations regardless of treatment (National Institute of Neurological ... Competitive Advantages Of Competitive Advantage Essay Question 1: Competitive advantages are conditions that permit an organization or nation to deliver a decent or administration at a lower cost or in a more alluring manner for clients. These conditions permit the gainful element to produce a bigger number of offers or unrivaled edges than its opposition. Competitive advantages are ascribed to an assortment of components, including cost structure, mark, nature of item offerings, dispersion and system, licensed innovation and customer support. From the subject of telling a story gravely , how one tells a nub , and how it contrasts to a comical story. The secret is being expressionless. Twain mention that in order to master a humorous story, it must be told gravely. Well, what does that exactly mean? When a person builds up a story as a bland, ordinary thing although it is evidently the contrary, it becomes the most comedic tale, and that is what Twain takes advantage of in Wheeler s personality, whether he realizes it or not. It takes a seasoned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
