Becoming An Ally By White Americans
Becoming an Ally
When white Americans choose to self educate about systemic racism they can become allies in the
fight to dismantle racist structures in our society. Systemic racism is a theory that takes a look at how
individual, structural, and institutional forms of racism intersect, overlap, and create a deep rooted
form of prejudice and discrimination that advantages a cultural group at the expense of others in all
institutions of a society economics, political representation, the criminal justice system, employment,
and many others. (Luther College 2015). This includes discrimination affecting credit, schooling,
justice, residential location, etc. It can be eradicated in the next century, but not without white people
acknowledging that it is a real issue that cost lives. It is not the duty of the oppressed to make a liberty
sales pitch to their oppressors. However, it is the responsibility of those benefiting from the oppression
of others to become educated, listen, and use their privilege to combat injustice. Asian, Latino, Black,
and First Nations people respectively do not experience white supremacy in the same ways.
Throughout this essay I will focus on the systemic racism targeted at Black people, using the term
People of Color , coined by Black Feminists in the 1970s, abbreviated to PoC, to refer to them.
The first step to becoming an ally to People of Color is to become educated about the issue to
understand that racism did not disappear with the Civil

Two key areas for improvement are revenue, through customer base and equipment sales increases,
and margin improvements. Private labeling, which Verizon has attempted before with the cable
television industry (Bode, 2013), is one key area that Verizon s competitors excel (Sprint , 2014), but
Verizon is not presently utilizing. Additionally, expansion of the Edge program, whereby customers
can acquire a new smart phone every year will improve customer retention and growth and improve
margins, since customers pay full price for the equipment instead of deply discounted or free phones.

Persuasive Essay On Tax Reform
REPUBLICANS AIM to unveil Wednesday a long awaited tax plan, premised on the fanciful idea that
slashing taxes by $1.5 trillion over 10 years will somehow leave the federal budget better off. And it is
not just the GOP s most blinkered ideologues who have bought into this wishful thinking.
I think at the end of the day this will actually be reducing the deficit because it s going to finally get
this economy moving, Sen. Rob Portman (R Ohio) said Sunday on Meet the Press. In a sentence, Mr.
Portman erased much of the credibility he developed while decrying deficits during the Obama years
or running the White House Office of Management and Budget during the George W. Bush
presidency.
Sen. Susan Collins (R Maine), one of the few moderate Republicans left in Congress, was hardly more
responsible. If we have just four tenths of 1 percent increase in our [gross domestic product], which is
entirely realistic, it will cover the cost of the tax reform package, she claimed. In fact, those growth
numbers cannot be assumed, and betting the federal budget on hopes of loads of new revenue is highly
risky. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Tax Policy Center concluded that cutting the corporate tax rate, encouraging business investment
and enhancing incentives to work would each encourage economic expansion modestly. The extra
growth would result in maybe $50 billion in new federal revenue over 10 years. To secure these small
economic gains and that tiny revenue bump, Republicans would cut taxes by well over a trillion
dollars, leaving a massive hole in the budget. Over time, the negative consequences of higher federal
borrowing would be a serious drag on the

The Single Most Important Argument As Regards To Hobbes’
The single most important argument as regards to Hobbes conception of human nature is that of its
pessimism, as it is this pessimistic view that brings Hobbes to his conclusion that the state of nature is
as objectionable as his view describes it to us. Hobbes argues that every man is characterised by his
view that, despite a few who, through mutual recognition or admiration, he believes to be his equal, he
is endowed most liberally with the faculty of wisdom. In this way, contends Hobbes, all men are equal
in that they all believe the same of themselves, and thus, their equal stature fosters an equality in
desires and their ability, in their own minds, to realise them. The result of this is that where men desire
what they cannot both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And consequently among men , he contends, there ariseth on that ground, envy, hatred, and finally
war; but amongst these [ants and bees] not so. It is therefore on three main grounds that men disagree
competition , diffidence , and glory , and it is the resultant self interested acts of men that set out the
foundations upon which Hobbes vision of the state of nature is constructed. Hobbes state of nature,
therefore, is one that is as equally pessimistic as his view of human nature. The state of nature, for
Hobbes, is that of anarchy, in the sense that there is no over arching power to constrain the actions of
men, and is one in which there are limited resources. Man is thus driven by his desires as described
above, and in that all men are essentially free, pursues them forsaking all others. As resources are
limited, and all men have the same essential desires, not everyone has the ability to realise these
desires. The result of this is a state which Hobbes calls war of every man against every man . Hobbes
can be no plainer in his explanation than with the following: At this time, he says, there is continual
fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short .
Consequently, as a product of the state of war against all and man s need to use all he can in order to
guarantee his conservation, it

Elizabeth 1 Accomplishments
During the 1500s, one woman prevailed in a society dominated by males. Queen Elizabeth I of
England served for forty four stable and prosperous years. She claimed the throne in 1558 and reigned
until her death in 1603. Because of her strong leadership, this time period was known as England s
Golden Age or Elizabethan Era. Queen Elizabeth s accomplishments were possible because of her
educational background, Protestant upbringing, and unmarried status. First, Queen Elizabeth s reign
was successful because she was well educated. According to the Folger Shakespeare Library website,
she received instruction that only men received during the 1500s. She studied mathematics, history,
and several different languages. She played music, danced, rode horses and hunted. (Folger.edu) She
supported the country s culture. For example, she loved to attend plays written by William
Shakespeare. She saw The Merry Wives of Windsor and Love s Labor s Lost. (Folger.edu) As a queen,
she was also able to communicate well with diplomatic ambassadors from other countries because she
spoke so many languages. Because of the education she received, the kingdom thrived. ... Show more

Britain s primary supplier of flying boats, the Short Company, developed a new model, designated the
C class, with 24 seats and weighing 18 tons. Since it had an increased range and flew 145 miles per
hour, it was able to simply bypass politically difficult areas. The Short C class went into service in
October 1936. A year later Imperial Airways made its first trans Atlantic crossing with a flying boat
equipped with extra fuel tanks. However, it was Pan Am, with more sophisticated and updated Boeing
airplanes, which was first to schedule a regular trans Atlantic service.
Imperial Airways was formed with the intention of being Britain s chosen instrument for overseas air
service. On its European services, however, Imperial was competing with the British Continental
airlines and an aggressive newcomer called British Airways. British Airways was created in October
1935 by the merger of three smaller airline companies. Three months later the company acquired a
fleet of Lockheed 10 Electras which were the fastest airplanes yet available. The competition from
British Airways threatened the chosen instrument so much that in November 1937 a Parliamentary
committee proposed the nationalization and merger of Imperial and British Airways. When the
reorganization was completed on November 24, 1939, the British Overseas Airways Corporation
(BOAC) was formed.
The creation of BOAC was overshadowed

economic system ( doc5). The increase impedance to the Chinese economy would fill the pockets of
moneylenders instead of benefiting the economy. Likewise, the increase in silver production, while
benefiting Spain early on, in time hurt the Spanish empire. Tomas de Mercado, a Spanish scholar,
wrote how the high prices of luxury goods caused silver to only flow out of Spain, hurting the
economy (doc2). Mercado wrote this account in 1571, yet already Ming ships conducted extensive
silver trade with the Spanish Empire via Manila. In addition, Antonio Vasquez de Espinosa, a Spanish
priest, shows another side that the silver production affected in negative way the social side: Vaquez,
writing about Potosi, the largest silver mine in Spain s colonial possessions, describes the terrible
condition that Native American dealt with in the labor in the mines ( doc6).Although the encomienda
system had already been dismantled in 1542, Vasquez shows the continuing manipulation of the
Native American population by the Spanish. Vasquez, a Spanish priest, is obviously a priest

Are Websites Beneficial For A Secondary Special Education...
For this assignment, I decided to use http://www.nsttac.org/ and http://www.ncset.org/ to research and
discuss. I believe that both websites would be beneficial for a secondary special education teacher for
many reasons. I was a little lost when researching the websites because I do not know what most of
the information is talking about, but I think a secondary special education teacher would. Both
websites had a lot of information on how to create opportunities for youth with disabilities to achieve
successful futures. The website, http://www.ncset.org/, focused on four major areas of national
significance for youth with disabilities and their families, which include: providing students with
disabilities with improved access and success in the secondary education curriculum, ensuring that
students achieve positive post school results in accessing postsecondary education, meaningful
employment, independent living and participation in all aspects of community life, supporting student
and family participation in educational and post school decision making and planning, and improving
collaboration and system linkages at all levels through the development of broad based partnerships
and networks at the national, state, and local levels. Given this information a secondary special

of violence and sexuality. Bouncing back and forth between the two gives the reader an idea of the

One is sexism, defined as prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, based
on sex. For most of the novel, Celie sees sex as violence and abuse due to the experiences she has had
with both her husband Albert and her Stepfather. Celie was raped at the age of fourteen by her
Stepfather and until she met Shug, her understanding of what sex is was pain. Celie shares in detail,
He start to choke me, saying You better shut up and git used to it (1). Although Celie was raped at a
young age, Shug tells Celie that she is still a virgin because unless you enjoy sex, you have not
experienced the bliss of sex. As the story unfolds, Celie shares sexual moments with Shug, both
enjoying the presence of the other. The other theme of The Color Purple is racism. It is obviously a
huge part of the early 20th century and that is the time period in which the book takes place. Celie and
her sister Nettie both relied heavily on each other and when Nettie heads south to Africa, Celie is
defeated. Celie, being black, has had nobody or nothing that has brought pleasure and happiness to her
life except Nettie. Discrimination was heavily induced upon Celie on a daily basis

The Color Red In Beloved By Toni Morrison
The color, red, symbolizes a variety of different meanings like the quote from an unknown source,
Red, the single most dynamic and passionate color, symbolizes love, rage and courage. Demanding
attention, red has great emotional impact. Those who select red are aggressive, impulsive and strive
for success. In the novel, Beloved, by Toni Morrison, the author demonstrates the color red for the
future, memories, and hope. The main character Sethe, had a baby girl named Beloved, after her
youngest daughter, Denver. Before, she was able to show her love and affection to Beloved, she ended
her misery and fate by slitting her throat open. In 124, the house was considered spiteful and full of a
baby s venom . Due to the killing of her baby, Beloved haunts the whole house with a quote from the
novel, Now the iron was back but the face, softened by hair, made him trust her enough to step inside
her door smack into a pool of pulsing red light. (Morrison, 11). The glowing aura is significant to the
tragedy that took place in 124. At the beginning of first chapter, it already gives the readers the sense
of what took place and the imagery of the situation. The quote represents how the baby ghost is ready
to react to a stranger, which is Paul D. from Sweet Home, a slave plantation. Another quote form the
author, The red was gone but a kind of weeping clung to the air where it had been. (Morrison, 11).
With the color red, it can represent a variety of emotions such as, fear,

Bank Mergers And Its Effect On The Banking Industry
Bank mergers often occur to diminish costs and increase efficiency across the banking industry. In
Finance 412, we have expressed the importance of regulatory burdens and the stress and challenges
banks face with enforcing these regulations. According to Kersha Cartwright, a bank official that I
spoke with, ProBank (PB), formerly located in Tallahassee, Florida, was under a regulatory order to
raise more capital. Since 2009, regulators have been concerned with banks holding greater capital
buffers and to keep larger reserves of liquid assets to prevent from becoming insolvent. ProBank s

Facilities Management in the Service Industry
This essay revolves around the critical evaluation of theories relating to management of
accommodations and facilities that can be utilised to help hotels design efficient and effective
processes. The key concepts such as process, efficiency, and effectiveness will be discussed while
justifying the methods of process analysis or design which will be highlighted in this essay. All these
topics will be critically evaluated in order to incorporate the operations management concepts of
quality, in the application of accommodation and facilities to add value and deliver efficient and
effective quality customer centric services.

Hence, service quality should be seen as an on going process (Pallet et al, 2003) and the above QFD
model helps incorporate guests view and take into account the heterogeneity and complexity of the
hospitality experience which was not evident in the previously built models.
At the operations management (OM) level, an output based model of seven key result areas (KRAs)
for the management of the service delivery system can be used as the analytical framework, derived
from Lockwood and Jones (1990) cited in Slack et al (2007). The managed KRAs are assets,
employees, capacity (or customers), productivity, service, income (or control), and quality. Within
each area of this model there are a range of alternative operational policies and procedures that might
be adopted to reflect the type of hospitality business, its size, and its technology. For instance, yield
management is an approach to managing capacity in hotels, especially large, chain properties (Jarvis et
al., 1998); quality control is applied largely in quick service restaurants, whereas total quality
management (TQM) has been applied to a few hotels, such as Ritz Carlton.
Quality is not an absolute term. A product can be of high or low standard, yet still be of quality. For
e.g. a small barely furnished guest room, with shared bathroom facilities is a quality product if it is
perceived by the customers as fulfilling their needs for clean and comfortable overnight
accommodation. However, such a

There were many disputes between Angkor and its neighbouring states, such as the kingdom of
Champa to the east. The purpose of raiding fellow cities was not to dispute fear or warning, but purely
to expand the empire. The kings after Jayavarman II followed the path of their predecessor and
engaged in territorial wars. They invaded rival kingdoms and took control. One ruler, Suryavarman I
directed his military to the west and expanded the empire to Ayutthaya (Thailand and Laos). The
efforts of Jayavarman II and his successors to invade neighbouring kingdoms and seize control
allowed the empire to expand and rise successfully to power above the entire Khmer region.
During the beginning of its formation, the empire relied largely on the isolated and protected area it
resided in to build and develop the empire further. It was situated in the North of Tolne Sap Lake, in
an area later known as Angkor. Its location was strategically chosen, therefore would serve as the seat
of the Khmer Empire. It was surrounded by thick forests that provided protection, with no developed
roads or paths that led into Angkor.
These jungles and other natural barriers also protected Angkor from being easily accessible to its
enemies. The empire is circumscribed with land, sandstone hills, and is remote from the South China

nearly 16 years, but recently relapsed in August of 2015. He has experienced four overdoses since
then, and is on his way to working the 12 steps again. Bob has been sober for about six weeks now. In
the group meeting, there were 20 members (four female, 16 male) in this meeting, composed of 75%
Caucasian, 20% Hispanic/Latino, 5% African American, and 5% Asian (just me). Majority of the
group members appeared to be in the middle class, hypothesized from listening to their stories of
owning cars, homes, apartments, taking care of children, and having employment. Many of them
appeared to be in their late thirties to late forties. There were a few children (children of group
members) and one

The Father Of Pan, The Greek God Of Nature
Pan is the Greek god of Nature. He was born father Hermes and his mother, who is one of
Dryops daughters. When Pan was born and his mother and nurse saw that he had horns ,ears, tail, and
legs of a goat they both ran away to escape Pan s monstrous appearance. Then Hermes saw his child.
He was over joyed and to Pan to Olympus and proudly introduced his son to the immortals. After that
Pan grow up and went to the forest in Arcadia there he had worshiper.
Pan s main domain was nature, but he mostly stay in Arcadia. Also most of his follower lived there.
Arcadia was a group of mountain dwelling people separated from other Greeks. Also it is said that if
the hunter were disappointed with the chase they would scourge the statue of Pan.
Being a rustic god Pan was never worshiped in temples or any built building. He was worshiped in
Natural sitting like cave or grottos; these are often called the caves of Pan. It is said when Pan is
lonely he lets out a whale that send fear though any mortal that hears it, this is part of the reason why
panic is dedicated to pan. There is another thing with pan he is associated with fertility and spring, but
he is also associated with a mother goddess either Rhea or Cybele.
Unlike some other gods Pan was ugly. Also he lived in the mortal world. He hunted for his food in the
mountain and he pursued quite a wild life himself, but he also spent his time playing with the
woodland nymphs he also talked to them too. He also had another side to him. This

Montesquieu s Definition Of Inequality In Jean Jacques...
Introduction Both Jean Jacques Rousseau (28 June 1712 2 July 1778) and Montesquieu (18 January
1689 10 February 1755) wrote theory concerning inequality and its effects. They explored gender
relations, slavery, and many other topics. One particular concept that they both address is inequality
and its relationship into despotism. While the authors utilize common definition of despotism, it is
plain to see that Montesquieu believes that preserving certain privileges can serve to protect from
despotism, but Rousseau, on the other hand, believes that inequality breeds it. Montesquieu s
Argument Montesquieu s Persian Letters follow the travels of two Persian noblemen, Usbek and Rica
as they tour France. During their travels, they see many unorthodox things that they are not used to,
such as the manner of women, and practice of Christian religion as compared to Islam. At the same
time, the story of the Seraglio, where Usbek s wives and eunuchs reside, happens concurrently with
the story of Usbek and Rica s travels. Usbek tries to keep an open mind about his foreign experiences
and shares them with his companions, wives, and eunuchs via letters. Montesquieu wants to protect
historical privileges. Preserving privileges, or sometimes called, ... Show more content on

For both of the authors, despotism does not necessarily refer to a single tyrant, but a system of
government, characterized by a lack of laws, lack of restraint, no respect for authority o rank, and ran
by constant fear. Montesquieu exemplifies this in his depiction of the Seraglio in the Persian Letters.
In the Seraglio, the women were basically imprisoned, and charged with pleasing the needs of one
master. This is seen in the letter Usbek writes to Roxanna (Letter 26) where he believes Roxanna to be
entirely fortunate to reside in his fortress and be virtuous by appeasing him. Eventually, the Seraglio
broke down into uncontrollable chaos, or

The doing ethics technique The technique of analysis depends upon asking questions. It has been
found that the order in which the questions are asked is also important. The following questions, in
this order, have been found to work best (through trial and error over many semesters). Q1 What is
going on? What are the facts? Q2 What are the issues? Q3 Who is affected? Q4 hence, What are the
ethical issues and implications? Q5 What can be done about it? What options are there? and Q6 Which
option is best? and Why? Benefits An injunction to think ethically about a situation is not helpful.
Perhaps if one has a background in moral philosophy this would work, but usually both students and
IT professionals require some form of guidance as to how to achieve an appropriate outcome. The
technique has proven itself as a means to achieving this, at least for PIIT students. This approach is not
dependent on a particular standard, such as the code of ethics of a particular professional society. It is
a technique that can be applied in a variety of circumstances, not limited by technological, cultural or
religious background. The approach is not limited by one s moral philosophy. One can use this
technique effectively and be an objectivist, holding that certain moral truths remain good
independently of personal likes and dislikes, or a relativist, holding that truths are relative to the
individual

Working With Complex Business Environment
To cope with complex business environment, all companies need measurement and management tool
to evaluate and control operations. Bernard Marr (2013) a leading business and data expert believe
that if management tools are properly used they can be powerful enablers of changes and actions in
companies. Currently, the world s six most widely used management tools are as follows:Strategic
Planning, Customer Relationship Management, Employee Engagement Surveys, Benchmarking,
Outsourcing and Balanced Scorecard. Of which Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is an idea that has not
came out for a long period but has been discussed a lot. This essay will examine the BSC approach

Rigby and Bilodeau (2015) reported in Bain s Management tools and trends survey that BSC ranked
the top six worlds most popular tools of 2014. It also achieved high satisfaction among executives. It
was noticed that the usage rates of BSC vary by regions with slightly higher usage in EMEA (44%),
North America (39%) and Latin America (39%) and lower usage in APAC (28%). The BSC is widely
used in all types of companies including businesses, non profit companies and government
organizations although different companies create their own unique BSC approach corresponding to
their key success factors and operation mode.
The balanced scorecard can act as different roles in a company. When acting as a measurement of
performance, BSC follows two steps. Firstly, it draws objectives and measures from the company s
overall strategy. In other worlds, it converts the vague strategy into detailed actions. Then, by using
these objectives and measures as a benchmark, the performance are evaluated from four different
aspects including the financial, customer, internal business process and learning and growth
perspective (Kaplan and Norton, 1996). The financial perspective concentrates on financial health of a
company, it is the most direct way for executives to measure organization performance. Usually, the
good performance of the other three perspectives of the scorecard will lead to good results of financial
performance as the four perspectives are interrelated. In terms of

indicators of a strong and healthy bond with Jack. As indicated in the above chart, Jack is displaying
all the behaviour expected for this stage of development (from 6 12 months), and accordingly, as
related to attachment, he was friendly with me as long as mom was close, and vigilant in ensuring he
was always aware of her location. The fact that Alice is able to soothe Jack quickly and consistently

Bodybuilding In The 1970 s
The 1970 s was a major time period for bodybuilding, some say the most important time period for
this sport. From the best bodybuilder ever to live breaking records and winning titles to poems about
the life of a bodybuilder. The main topic for this essay is American Culture in the 70s but to
summarize it down, bodybuilding is what the topic is because without the 70s, bodybuilding would
not be as popular as it is today. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the best bodybuilder known to man. Reason
is because he had the drive, the determination , the mind set to never give up and always keep pushing
yourself. The 70s was the biggest time period for him because he won his Mr.Olympia 7 times in a
row. In the 70s people were confused about bodybuilders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

having a major role in bodybuilding to racial, citizen roles Arnold and Franco and just every other non
citizen had to face with. But it showed how there is and can be success in the United States if you set
your mind to something a do it and never give up on yourself and never quit grinding and always stay

Bite Marks Weaknesses
Weaknesses of Bite Mark Analysis The lack of large scale systematic research and data collection on
the correlation between bite marks and dentition limits the degree to which bite marks can be
considered a unique character. By its nature, research concerning bite marks, especially on humans,
are difficult to conduct. Models using animal skin or wax are often used in bite mark research as well
as education. Though these models are a good tool for research, they cannot replace data sourced from
humans. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when examining bite
marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in reliability can easily roll
over to the examination of human bite marks. Research also varies in their findings: some negating
their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it (Rawson, Ommen, Kinard,
Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the sample size which the
researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively ascertain the prevalence
of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have difficulty providing
scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is described as specimens
that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error (Saks, Albright, Bohan,
Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). However, it is found that the probability of having matches

Informal Borrowing and Lending in Rural Finance
INFORMAL BORROWING AND LENDING IN RURAL FINANCE
INTRODUCTION
This paper presents an assessment of informal borrowing and lending in rural finance with a focus on
its advantages and disadvantages. It examines a number of issues related to the functioning of rural
credit markets, determinants of rural interest rates, why the government intervenes in rural credit
markets and how.
BACKGROUND Commercial banks and other formal institutions fail to take care of the credit needs
of peasants, however, mainly due to their lending terms and conditions. It is generally the rules and
regulations of these formal financial institutions that have created the myth that the poor are not
bankable, and since they can t afford the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also mentions the less traditional and informal forms of collateral acceptable in rural markets and
the convenience it gives poor peasants. Many of these rural dwellers live in subsistence and can only
use farm produce, livestock, labour etc as collateral in exchange for loans. He further states that with
informal borrowing, the circumstances surrounding the applicant are considered when the financial
assistance is being offered. This offers the advantage of having special considerations even when the
criteria for lending are not met. In short, the informal market does not have set standards to measure
up to when financial services are needed, and therefore they are able to offer flexible services
according to individual needs.
Motamen Samadian (2012) accedes to these claims in her presentation, identifying intimate
knowledge of requirement and abilities between lenders and borrowers, better rates of loan recovery
as far as the lenders are concerned, repayment flexibilities and minimum protocol as the advantages of
informal credit. There are, however, many limitations and disadvantages of informal credit. In 1981,
Stiglitz and Weiss in their work established a link between information asymmetry, adverse selection
and moral hazard. In their analysis, interest rates charged by a lender is seen as having a dual role of
sorting potential borrowers, leading to adverse selection and affecting the

how to act and how to be a gentilmen. Eventhough in his home, his sister and Joe was rude and
uneducated, Pip was not like that when he was socializing through his life. It can be argued that this
situation can be explained by secondary socialization. Secondary socialization refers to the process of
learning what is the appropriate behavior as a member of a smaller group within the larger society.
Basically, it is the behaviors intensified by society. Secondary socialization occurs outside the home. It
is where children and adults learn how to act in a way that is appropriate for the situations they are in
as Pip learned in Mrs. Hamington s house. After he got out of the home, he stil was thinging that it is a

appropriate from parents does not affect him that much. Also in this novel we can see that all the
events happen at the Victorian England times. Thats why the relationships between people in the

The Path Of Life In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
In the poem, The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost, as the poem advances, the author s attitude and
choices are revealed as the poem develops. The poem is all about choices and what his attitude is as
the poem develops. The poem talks mostly about a path of life that a person will choose and that they
will have to forever follow that path of life, because they can t change the past no matter how much
they try. In the end, once he s old, he might regret the decision and ponder if he made the right
decision, but he won t be able to do anything in the end because he is a realist. Although there are
many stanzas, the most important stanza is about two roads and how he must make a choice, but he is
unsure of which path he should take. Also, the poem develops in many ways through the attitude of
each stanza because he is dwelling on which path he will take. Between the first stanza to the fifth
stanza, it talks about how he is sorry for how he can t take both roads and that life is forcing him to
choose to go down a path. In the poem it states, And I looked down on as far as I could. To where it
bent in the undergrowth (Frost 4 5). This shows, that this was a monumental part of his life, but if he
chose the wrong path, he might regret it for the rest of his life, so he tries to see beyond, but the
undergrowth blocks his sight. The undergrowth is symbolic because it is about growth of trees and
shrubs like how he must take that path and see for himself what will lie in the end.

  • 2. Becoming An Ally By White Americans Becoming an Ally When white Americans choose to self educate about systemic racism they can become allies in the fight to dismantle racist structures in our society. Systemic racism is a theory that takes a look at how individual, structural, and institutional forms of racism intersect, overlap, and create a deep rooted form of prejudice and discrimination that advantages a cultural group at the expense of others in all institutions of a society economics, political representation, the criminal justice system, employment, and many others. (Luther College 2015). This includes discrimination affecting credit, schooling, justice, residential location, etc. It can be eradicated in the next century, but not without white people acknowledging that it is a real issue that cost lives. It is not the duty of the oppressed to make a liberty sales pitch to their oppressors. However, it is the responsibility of those benefiting from the oppression of others to become educated, listen, and use their privilege to combat injustice. Asian, Latino, Black, and First Nations people respectively do not experience white supremacy in the same ways. Throughout this essay I will focus on the systemic racism targeted at Black people, using the term People of Color , coined by Black Feminists in the 1970s, abbreviated to PoC, to refer to them. The first step to becoming an ally to People of Color is to become educated about the issue to understand that racism did not disappear with the Civil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two key areas for improvement are revenue, through customer base and equipment sales increases, and margin improvements. Private labeling, which Verizon has attempted before with the cable television industry (Bode, 2013), is one key area that Verizon s competitors excel (Sprint , 2014), but Verizon is not presently utilizing. Additionally, expansion of the Edge program, whereby customers can acquire a new smart phone every year will improve customer retention and growth and improve margins, since customers pay full price for the equipment instead of deply discounted or free phones. • 5. Persuasive Essay On Tax Reform REPUBLICANS AIM to unveil Wednesday a long awaited tax plan, premised on the fanciful idea that slashing taxes by $1.5 trillion over 10 years will somehow leave the federal budget better off. And it is not just the GOP s most blinkered ideologues who have bought into this wishful thinking. I think at the end of the day this will actually be reducing the deficit because it s going to finally get this economy moving, Sen. Rob Portman (R Ohio) said Sunday on Meet the Press. In a sentence, Mr. Portman erased much of the credibility he developed while decrying deficits during the Obama years or running the White House Office of Management and Budget during the George W. Bush presidency. Sen. Susan Collins (R Maine), one of the few moderate Republicans left in Congress, was hardly more responsible. If we have just four tenths of 1 percent increase in our [gross domestic product], which is entirely realistic, it will cover the cost of the tax reform package, she claimed. In fact, those growth numbers cannot be assumed, and betting the federal budget on hopes of loads of new revenue is highly risky. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Tax Policy Center concluded that cutting the corporate tax rate, encouraging business investment and enhancing incentives to work would each encourage economic expansion modestly. The extra growth would result in maybe $50 billion in new federal revenue over 10 years. To secure these small economic gains and that tiny revenue bump, Republicans would cut taxes by well over a trillion dollars, leaving a massive hole in the budget. Over time, the negative consequences of higher federal borrowing would be a serious drag on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Single Most Important Argument As Regards To Hobbes’ The single most important argument as regards to Hobbes conception of human nature is that of its pessimism, as it is this pessimistic view that brings Hobbes to his conclusion that the state of nature is as objectionable as his view describes it to us. Hobbes argues that every man is characterised by his view that, despite a few who, through mutual recognition or admiration, he believes to be his equal, he is endowed most liberally with the faculty of wisdom. In this way, contends Hobbes, all men are equal in that they all believe the same of themselves, and thus, their equal stature fosters an equality in desires and their ability, in their own minds, to realise them. The result of this is that where men desire what they cannot both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And consequently among men , he contends, there ariseth on that ground, envy, hatred, and finally war; but amongst these [ants and bees] not so. It is therefore on three main grounds that men disagree competition , diffidence , and glory , and it is the resultant self interested acts of men that set out the foundations upon which Hobbes vision of the state of nature is constructed. Hobbes state of nature, therefore, is one that is as equally pessimistic as his view of human nature. The state of nature, for Hobbes, is that of anarchy, in the sense that there is no over arching power to constrain the actions of men, and is one in which there are limited resources. Man is thus driven by his desires as described above, and in that all men are essentially free, pursues them forsaking all others. As resources are limited, and all men have the same essential desires, not everyone has the ability to realise these desires. The result of this is a state which Hobbes calls war of every man against every man . Hobbes can be no plainer in his explanation than with the following: At this time, he says, there is continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short . Consequently, as a product of the state of war against all and man s need to use all he can in order to guarantee his conservation, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Elizabeth 1 Accomplishments During the 1500s, one woman prevailed in a society dominated by males. Queen Elizabeth I of England served for forty four stable and prosperous years. She claimed the throne in 1558 and reigned until her death in 1603. Because of her strong leadership, this time period was known as England s Golden Age or Elizabethan Era. A year later Imperial Airways made its first trans Atlantic crossing with a flying boat equipped with extra fuel tanks. However, it was Pan Am, with more sophisticated and updated Boeing airplanes, which was first to schedule a regular trans Atlantic service. Imperial Airways was formed with the intention of being Britain s chosen instrument for overseas air service. Demanding attention, red has great emotional impact. Those who select red are aggressive, impulsive and strive for success. In the novel, Beloved, by Toni Morrison, the author demonstrates the color red for the future, memories, and hope. The main character Sethe, had a baby girl named Beloved, after her youngest daughter, Denver. Before, she was able to show her love and affection to Beloved, she ended her misery and fate by slitting her throat open. In 124, the house was considered spiteful and full of a baby s venom . At the beginning of first chapter, it already gives the readers the sense of what took place and the imagery of the situation. The quote represents how the baby ghost is ready to react to a stranger, which is Paul D. from Sweet Home, a slave plantation. At the operations management (OM) level, an output based model of seven key result areas (KRAs) for the management of the service delivery system can be used as the analytical framework, derived from Lockwood and Jones (1990) cited in Slack et al (2007). The managed KRAs are assets, employees, capacity (or customers), productivity, service, income (or control), and quality. Within each area of this model there are a range of alternative operational policies and procedures that might be adopted to reflect the type of hospitality business, its size, and its technology. For instance, yield management is an approach to managing capacity in hotels, especially large, chain properties (Jarvis et al., 1998); quality control is applied largely in quick service restaurants, whereas total quality management (TQM) has been applied to a few hotels, such as Ritz Carlton. Introduction Both Jean Jacques Rousseau (28 June 1712 2 July 1778) and Montesquieu (18 January 1689 10 February 1755) wrote theory concerning inequality and its effects. They explored gender relations, slavery, and many other topics. One particular concept that they both address is inequality and its relationship into despotism. A study has shown that examiners have a lower degree of reliability when examining bite marks in animal skin versus those in wax (Whittaker, 1975). This decrease in reliability can easily roll over to the examination of human bite marks. Research also varies in their findings: some negating their uniqueness (Bush, Bush, Sheets, 2010), while others support it (Rawson, Ommen, Kinard, Johnson , Yfanits, 1984). These differing results can be attributed to the sample size which the researchers used. Forensic odontologists lack sufficient data to conclusively ascertain the prevalence of specific dental characteristics within a given population and thus have difficulty providing scientifically proven probabilities of dentition patterns matching. A match is described as specimens that could not be determined as distinguishable within measurement error (Saks, Albright, Bohan, Bierer, Bowers, 2016, p. 558). However, it is found that the probability of having matches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Informal Borrowing and Lending in Rural Finance INFORMAL BORROWING AND LENDING IN RURAL FINANCE INTRODUCTION This paper presents an assessment of informal borrowing and lending in rural finance with a focus on its advantages and disadvantages. It examines a number of issues related to the functioning of rural credit markets, determinants of rural interest rates, why the government intervenes in rural credit markets and how. BACKGROUND Commercial banks and other formal institutions fail to take care of the credit needs of peasants, however, mainly due to their lending terms and conditions. It is generally the rules and regulations of these formal financial institutions that have created the myth that the poor are not bankable, and since they can t afford the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also mentions the less traditional and informal forms of collateral acceptable in rural markets and the convenience it gives poor peasants. Many of these rural dwellers live in subsistence and can only use farm produce, livestock, labour etc as collateral in exchange for loans. He further states that with informal borrowing, the circumstances surrounding the applicant are considered when the financial assistance is being offered. This offers the advantage of having special considerations even when the criteria for lending are not met. In short, the informal market does not have set standards to measure up to when financial services are needed, and therefore they are able to offer flexible services according to individual needs. Motamen Samadian (2012) accedes to these claims in her presentation, identifying intimate knowledge of requirement and abilities between lenders and borrowers, better rates of loan recovery as far as the lenders are concerned, repayment flexibilities and minimum protocol as the advantages of informal credit. There are, however, many limitations and disadvantages of informal credit. In 1981, Stiglitz and Weiss in their work established a link between information asymmetry, adverse selection and moral hazard. In their analysis, interest rates charged by a lender is seen as having a dual role of sorting potential borrowers, leading to adverse selection and affecting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Path Of Life In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken In the poem, The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost, as the poem advances, the author s attitude and choices are revealed as the poem develops. The poem is all about choices and what his attitude is as the poem develops. The poem talks mostly about a path of life that a person will choose and that they will have to forever follow that path of life, because they can t change the past no matter how much they try. In the end, once he s old, he might regret the decision and ponder if he made the right decision, but he won t be able to do anything in the end because he is a realist. Although there are many stanzas, the most important stanza is about two roads and how he must make a choice, but he is unsure of which path he should take. Also, the poem develops in many ways through the attitude of each stanza because he is dwelling on which path he will take. Between the first stanza to the fifth stanza, it talks about how he is sorry for how he can t take both roads and that life is forcing him to choose to go down a path. In the poem it states, And I looked down on as far as I could. To where it bent in the undergrowth (Frost 4 5). This shows, that this was a monumental part of his life, but if he chose the wrong path, he might regret it for the rest of his life, so he tries to see beyond, but the undergrowth blocks his sight. The undergrowth is symbolic because it is about growth of trees and shrubs like how he must take that path and see for himself what will lie in the end. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
