Franklin Harrod Case Study
According to the information gather by law enforcement, one morning as Kelly was getting her and
Franklins children ready for school, Jerry and Mr. Harrod got into a fight. Tamara ran outside, where
she was ordered to get a gun from a trunk by Jerry Trussell. On Jerry que, Tamara shot Franklin
Harrod. The next day the Trussell took Franklins body and wrapped it in roofing tarp, and buried in a
location near Walnut River. Harrods, wife then filed a missing person report and began disposing of
her husband s vehicle and other belonging. A month following the disappearance of Franklin Harrod,
Jerry Wilson made an anonymous report to police about the Trussell s asking him for a gun. Another
person told law enforcement that Jerry Trussell, asked her ex husband for help disposing the body of
Franklin Harrod. However, investigator did not have enough evidence to charge anyone. Also Kelly,
and Trussell kept insisting that Franklin simply left.
In 2001, Tamara Trussell began talking to law enforcement. She initially implicated her husband Jerry,
and Kelly Harrod in the disappearance of Franklin Harrod. She later confessed to her own role in his
disappearance and led police to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Googling Franklin Harrod name gave me all the same basic information I receive while searching for
a summary. Next, I goggled his wife s Kelly Harrod name. I found articles about the sentencing of
Kelly Harrod and Tamara Trussell. I also searched other alias Kelly used such as Kelly Bishop. In one
of the article I found under that search, I found out that Franklin Harrod worked as a custodian for The
Andover school district. This information is not entirely useful, but it was some new information that I
had not been privy to. As I was doing my searches on Kelly, I noticed that in almost all of the articles I
read that Franklin Harrod Jr was referred to as Punkie

A Summary On The Pestle Of Renault
PESTEL is analytical instrument that identifies and analyses the external influences on 10 years period
and clarify they way an organisation should deal with the key external and internal factors that need to
be taken into account in order to accomplish any organisations intiatives. The term PESTEL refers to
the: Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal factors. These factors are
significant especially in the global automobile industry where billions of several large brands are
competing for market share. Since its foundation in the 19th century, this sector has increased and
become an important aspect of today s economy in terms of revenue. In this essay, the organisation of
Renault will be presented.
The French automobile manufacturer Renault takes its name from Fouis Renault, the company s
founder, and is currently the fourth largest automaker in the world. It was created by Fouis, Marcel,

one of the most significant automobile firms, that is capable to adapt itself in several contexts from
1898 until today. (Jean Louis Loubet).

Calculation of Preferred Dividends
How to Calculate Preferred Dividends
Preferred stock (or preference shares) is a special class of stock that pays a fixed dividend set at the
time of issuance. Also, preferred dividends must be paid before common stock dividends. To calculate
the dividends for preferred stocks, you need to multiply the par value of the shares by the dividend
percentage.
Example 1:
If the dividend percentage is 8 percent and the preferred stock was issued at $20 per share, then the
annual dividend is: 8% * $20 = $1.60 per share.
Example 2:
If you owned 10,000 6.5 percent preferred shares which were issued at a par value of $50 per share,
then:
The dividend per share of preferred stock = $50 * 6.5% = $3.25
Total Preferred Dividends = 10,000 shares * $50 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an indication of the cash return that shareholders receive from holding shares in the listed
company.
Formula:
Dividend Per Share (DPS) = Dividends paid to equity shareholders / Number of issued equity shares
Example 1:
Bronze Ltd announced a total of $200,000 in dividends over the last year, and it has 4 million shares
outstanding, then the DPS would be: 200,000 / 4,000,000 = $0.05 per share.
Example 2:
Calculate the DPS for Modern Product Ltd., given the following information:
Dividends proposed $30,000
Ordinary shares of $0.50 each: $600,000
Solution:
Number of shares issued = 600,000 / 0.50 = 1,200,000
DPS = 30,000 / 1,200,000 = $0.025

Gilbert Tennent s Abolishment Of An Unconverted Ministry
In the eighteenth century, the new and young Presbyterian Church in America had problems 1) to get
ministerial training only in New England 2) The procedures for examining immigrant ministers were
inconsistent and inadequate (Class, April 10). In this time, Gilbert Tennent criticizes the system by
asserting abolishment of abolishment of Parish line, and insists on convert ministry. Samuel Blair also
emphasizes convert ministry by narrating his experience of revival movement in his church.

Chivalry In Medieval Literature
The Dark ages also know as the Middle ages were a time when medieval literature started. What is
medieval literature? It is a broad subject about all the written works available in Europe. The funny
film Monty python recreates the Arthurian stories. This film made fun of the circumstances during
Middle Ages told through the story of King Arthur( Morte d Arthur) and framed by a modern day
murder investigation. All of the knights were sent on a quest to find the Holy Grail facing a bunch of
obstacles mentally and physically. The king of the Britons (Arthur) lead his knights through a
persistent Black Knight, Three headed giant, an old man guarding the bridge of death, a shrubbery
challenge, the Castle Anthrax (house of the virgins), rude Frenchman and a killer rabbit. Throughout
the film and story of Morte d Arthur we see themes and codes of chivalry being mocked. We see
examples of loyalty, bravery, knowledge, modesty, and honesty, which are all expectations of knightly
behavior. The knight s loyalty and bravery are constantly being tested on their quest to find the Holy
Grail. It is their duty as knights to continue on their journey and to follow the chivalric code, but can
they do it? On their quest some of the knights received same flesh wounds and even death. On King
Arthur s quest he comes across the Green Knight and the Black Knight fighting. It is a tough and
respectful battle but unfortunately the Green Knight dies. King Arthur respected the Black Knight and
wanted him to be apart of his group of the knights at the round table. The Black Knight won´t let
Arthur through the woods without a fight so then they battle. We see the theme of bravery being
mocked during this battle because the Black Knight was losing but would not give up. Arthur sliced
off all his limbs yet the Black Knight still wanted to keep going. Bravery is being mocked here
because knights would fight to the death which was very brave. In the film they make a joke of this
because the Black Knight was limbless and still wants to fight KIng Arthur and we all know this
would not happen in real life. Another obstacle the knights run into during their journey are young
women. You think young women are harmless but they are always

Summary Of The Film The Linguists
The film The Linguists follows linguists Gregory Anderson and David Harrison on their journey to
learn about and document endangered languages in Bolivia, India, Arizona, and Siberia. Through their
quest, they are able to interact with some of the few remaining speakers of languages that are near
death and they manage to make an impact on how these communities view their heritage language.
Focusing on the moribund languages of Siberia and Arizona, it becomes evident that speakers of the
heritage language feel a love for the language and the culture it represents, but went through periods
of oppression and embarrassment for being speakers of a minority language that ultimately shaped
their attitudes on the language. The film highlights the Chemehuevi language of a Native American
tribe in Arizona, where there is only one remaining speaker. The speaker is forced to repeat words to
himself and replay recordings in Chemehuevi over and over again so that he can keep the language
alive, since there is no one else who knows the language. This exemplifies how drastically endangered
this language is, as it is only survived by one speaker. It is evident that this man has a love for his
language and a cultural attachment to it because he does not give up in keeping it alive, even if it
means having to talk to himself repeatedly. The local majority language that killed off Chemehuevi
was English, as it kept being imposed on younger generations until it was ultimately the only

Foundation Of Engineering Ethics And Values
Foundation of Engineering Ethics and Values Interaction between Ethics and Technology

CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT: At the outset morals and innovation appear to have no
collaboration. On the other hand, we see the impact of morals on innovation both from the calling and
the general population. Case in point the code of expert morals has changed the techniques in
distinctive parts of science, building and innovation, and has given a specific heading to the sorts of
tasks done, their degree, and executions. The affectability of customers to pick good values has
additionally brought about the alter of course for some advances. Open investment in science and
innovation and the legitimate stations are alternate components that shape the impact of morals on
engineering. All the more disputably on the other side we see the effect of engineering on morals. One
can contend how and why the absolute most theoretical thoughts like regulating moral hypotheses or
Kantian morals have been responses to the progressions in science and engineering. Also, the impacts
of mechanical change have significantly impacted cutting edge relativistic morals. Innovation has
given new potential outcomes to human life and made new moral inquiries as well. It could be said,

Juvenile Violent Crime And Juvenile Crime Rates
According to (Walton, 2014), as far back as the late 1800 s, children have been sentenced to the same
punishments as adults, depending on the crime they committed. Punishments even included death if
the juvenile was deemed to be past the point of help. Later on courts were geared more towards
rehabilitation than punishment. Reform movements came along and parents could send their children
off to reformatories to live and work as part of their rehabilitation. Due to poor living and working
conditions many of these places were closed down.
Soon after the Progressive Era, the first juvenile court system was opened in Illinois. The main focus
of these courts was rehabilitation for the juveniles (Fiorillo, 2013). Juvenile violent crime rates had
increased so much that law makers knew they had to do something to combat all of the violence.
Juveniles were committing murder, assault, rape and other serious crimes which sent the public into a
fear overload. These increases in juvenile violent crimes lead to some of our early get tough on
juvenile laws. Policy makers were inclined to push for harsher laws for juveniles who committed
violent crimes.
The increase in juvenile crimes led lawmakers away from implementing laws the focused on
rehabilitation and back to laws that focused on punishment. States began to develop statutes allowed
juveniles to be tried in the same court system and receive the same sentences as adults. These statutes
brought important reforms to the juvenile

Universal Design Analysis
The Universal Design (UDL) for Learning and the heutagogical approach to learning were the topics
studied during this week in Design and Instruction of Online Courses. These two concepts were new
to me. The UDL is an approach to curriculum development that provides flexibility in the ways
information is presented, in the ways students demonstrate knowledge and skills, and in the way
students are engaged. The purpose of this approach is to meet the diverse learning styles and needs for
all students, including students with disabilities and students who require ESL support. UDL offers
students equal access to learning and equal opportunity to participate in their own learning by opening
several learning pathways and using assistive technology. Some examples of assistive technologies are
captioned video, speech recognition applications, audio players and recorders, reading guides
applications etc.

As we know, teaching and learning for adults is a process of negotiation characterized by learners
taking control and self responsibility in their learning process. Moreover, much of adult learning
theory is based on the idea that experience is the basis for genuine education. Clearly, heutagogy is a
constructivist perspective that shares the common assumption that learning is the construction of
meaning from experience and emphasizes the collaborative nature of learning and the importance of
cultural and social context. In addition, heutagogy as an extension of andragogy includes more
interaction between the teacher and student; student to student; and student to content/expert. With
heutagogy, teaching and learning have moved into a more connected, creative education that integrates
web 2.0 and social media to promote cooperative learning, global learning, shared reflections, and

What Is The Theme Of Conflict In Tea Cake By Zora Neale...
Every creature goes to journey on an seemingly endless rollercoaster as life can be. Dreams that lie
beyond the horizon is something people continually try to achieve and Janie is no exception to this as
she defines her own strength and self worth. From facing gender roles to endless criticism she has the
strength to keep moving forward. As the story s main conflict is concentrated around Janie
relationships through she acquires the desire to want more for her own life. Where these hardships she
gains experience to live independently and especially learn to stand up for oneself no matter the
adversity. Characters like: Nanny, Logan Killicks, Joe Starks, and Vergible Tea Cake Woods gave her
experiences that help her gain her own ambitions and accomplish the quest of happiness Janie
searches for. The bravery exemplified by the author, Zora Neale Hurston throughout the story is
perfect to learn from as strength is exemplary to live today.

better life, as she explains with her past in slavery. The aspirations she wishes to have is put towards
Janie. But the ideals conflict as Nanny s outlook of love battles Janie s teenage aspirations. Only later

Relationship Between A Manufacturer And A Distributor
Writing Assignment #2
The relationship between a manufacturer and a distributor is a crucial part in the success of a business
alliance or partnership. It is necessary to pay close attention to the relationship between manufacturers
and distributors in terms of trust, alliances and conflict. Manufacturers and distributors should select
each other appropriately and wisely because each member of the supply chain has different
expectations for the other. The most common two paths for a manufacturer to enter the market through
distribution are exclusively and non exclusively. Information on relations and channel paths is
significant because it will be easier be able to include them in my other projects and classes
throughout the rest of academic and professional careers.
The most vital concepts I learned in IDIS 340 is how important it is for manufacturers and distributors
to choose the right business partners. Market share is the main driver for manufacturers, so they must
turn their attention to distributors that have a wide range of access to the market. Profitability is the
primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers that have a strong market brand,
supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and offers a technical sales team.
Sharing common goals and visions is perhaps the most significant element in choosing how to align a
manufacturer and distributor.
After aligning with proper distributors, manufacturers have expectations that they

Free Time For Students In High School And College
Over half of the students in the United States struggle with grades, thus resulting in an unhappy
experience in high school and college. Patience, effort, and preparation for needs are an essential key
to knowledge and success. Before such steps can be followed, a student must set self goals of what
they desire to achieve in school over a period of time. Not all students are born naturally gifted with
intelligence in this universe, but following the most helpful directions in life will in no doubt assist
any lost student in achieving his or her self desire. The negligence of studying and completing
homework is the first and main reason why students continue to struggle with their grades and life in
general. Free time between classes and after school should contribute towards studying and homework
instead of time to associate with friends and/or a significant other. Of course, students do not have to
shelter themselves away from what makes them most happy, however, free time should be divided up
so that a proper amount is spent preparing for tests or finishing assignments. Just one to two hours a
day spent studying can boost a grade from a seventy percent to a ninety percent, and this will
significantly relieve stress and boost confidence.
Not only do some students need to divide up time between a social life and school work, but they also
desire to divide it up between extracurricular activities and/or a job. Most people want to experience a
little bit of everything

Part 1 emergence
The words féminisme ( feminism ) and féminist ( feminist ) first appeared in France and the

Dictionary lists 1852 as the year of the first appearance of feminist and 1895 for feminism .
The first wave was a wave of feminist activity that occurred with in the time period of the 19th and

The feminist movement originated in Europe, especially in England, Historian Margaret Walters traces

In this essay, I would like to relate Christine de Pizan s and Simone de Beauvoir s idea of community
with the use of education to the question of individuality. For Christine, educating oneself on morality
and ignorance is essential in shaping one s individuality. Then for Simone, she uses education as a
basis for debunking the unrealistic ideals and values placed on women; teaching women to create an
identity for themselves. By defining individuality as the unique journey to awareness and difference,
community becomes a central point of conversion to direct one s education in context towards her
newly converted identity. The motivation to learn establishes and reorganizes this community, where

the same educational opportunities as men. Christine argues that if women are intellectually and
morally inferior, despite being untrue, it would be because of their lack of exposure to things beyond
the domestic realm and the lack of opportunity to develop their minds and critical thinking skills.
Christine believes that it is every individual s right to be exposed to as many ideas and influences as

Using a martyr story in Book 3.5, Christine describes how Lucy was seen as a respectable being only

America s Crime Fighters Need DNA Fingerprinting
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a chemical structure containing a base sequence. Base pairs are
genetic codes made up of four chemicals (Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine) and each
sequence differs in every person. Because DNA is so complex and varies immensely in individuals, it
can be used like a fingerprint, hence the name DNA Fingerprinting. DNA can be found and analyzed
in blood, semen, saliva, hair and skin even decades old if properly stored. The process takes longer
than simple fingerprinting and is very expensive, but the results are almost perfect in determining

Department of Justice. Today DNA testing is used regularly to convict criminals as fingerprints have
in the past. The Department of Justice states that in 1998, the FBI created the National DNA Index
System (NDIS), which currently links 42 states. Today there are genetic profiles for more than one
million criminals stored in this database, and soon all 50 states are expected to participate in the NDIS.
That is a great example of an effective use of DNA Fingerprinting and security.
Previously used only in research labs, DNA fingerprinting has become more common to the public.
Although mostly used for paternity testing, DNA profiling is reliable enough as evidence that
prosecutors are relying on it more and more to help convict suspects in criminal cases. One specific
example occurred in Goldsboro, North Carolina. A man known as the Night Stalker had committed
offenses of rape in 1990 to three elderly women. Each incident resulted in an attempt to murder the
victim; however, only two lost their lives along with one husband. One woman was fortunately saved
by the unusually early arrival of her daughter. The suspect planned to burn the residence to hide the
crime, but panicked and ran, leaving behind substantial evidence. A matching pap smear was taken
from each victim to cross reference DNA samples, but no suspect was known. This is where the NDIS
came into effect, adding a profile to North Carolina s database. After 10 years of

Apollandsian Vs Dionyysian
Friedrich Nietzsche believed that art fit into two categories: the Apollonian and the Dionysian, or
sometimes a combination of the two. The Apollonian consists of visual art and poetry, while the
Dionysian is music and dancing. But lyrical music, or poetry in music form, is a combination of the
two. Revenge of the Dadaists by The Agonist is this kind of song, as there is emphasis on both the
lyrics and the music. Within the lyrics is an indirect description of the wisdom of Silenus and its
reversal: where life is horrible and death is the end goal, but then art justifies life s problems and
eternal life is desired. The singer also sings in the first person, thus surrendering subjectivity through
the music. And the words imitate the sound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But since lyrical music is a combination of both the Apollonian and the Dionysian, it is hard to say
which it supports. Even with the constant use of I throughout many songs, including Revenge of the
Dadaists, it s hard to say if this is the songwriter s voice, the singer s voice, or the universal voice of
humanity in general. Nietzsche says that In the first place, as Dionysian artist he has identified himself
with the Primal Unity, its pain and contradiction... Now, however, under the Apollonian dream
inspiration, this music reveals itself to him again as a symbolic dream picture... The artist has already
surrendered his subjectivity in the Dionysian process. The picture which now shows him his identity
with the heart of the world, is a dream scene, which embodies the primordial contradiction and
primordial pain, together with the primordial joy, of appearance (511 512). In other words, despite the
I used throughout the song, the fact that it is set to music makes the I become part of the Dionysian,
thus representing the whole world. So even while the singer sings about personal issues, these
problems become dreamlike and universal so anyone can connect to them. Thus everyone knows and
feels the singer s pain through contradiction. So in Revenge of the Dadaists, the lyrics You leave

gardens provide spaces for experimental hands on education. This also allows for incorporating the
full cycle of learning associated with healthy food; from growing, to nutrition, and then to cooking.
The school gardening program would be designed to involve teachers and certain primary curriculums
in subjects such as economics, social studies, and science. This in turn would create respect for
diversity and also promote self growth. The primary purpose would always be education. Having the
school and the garden be a cohesive program that would be included in the day to day culture of
school would promote sustainability with the administration, neighborhood volunteers, and parents
who are all essential to the function of this plan.
Stewardship opportunities for the students could be provided through the outdoor classroom by
utilizing the grounds of the school site. Outdoor classrooms are engaging spaces for children; it helps

Crime In Prison Research Paper
Many citizens in the United States today have a common interest in crime. Whether it s the criminals
themselves or the prison facilities that house them, Americans wonder what drives a particular human
being to such crime or what goes on inside a maximum security prison. The American public appears
to have an insatiable fascination with what goes on inside prisons. Moviegoers flock to see Hollywood
films about prison life (e.g., Escape from Alcatraz, Murder in the First, and The Shawshank
Redemption). The news media is quick to cover lurid stories about prisons, including prison
disturbances... (Wright). Consequently, a thought that flies under the radar is the reputations of these
hardened convicts and how these reputations are what attract ... Show more content on

Both Alcatraz and Rikers have become famous to America because of how they treat and house their
inmates. Alcatraz became known for containing many of the most dangerous criminals in the United
States. An example of one would be Robert Stroud, also known as the, Birdman of Alcatraz. Alcatraz
has a longstanding relationship with birds. Everybody knows that one of the most famous residents of
the prison was the Birdman of Alcatraz, an inmate with a penchant for raising canaries. He gained
worldwide fame from the eponymous movie starring Burt Lancaster. Robert Stroud , the real Birdman
of Alcatraz, was quite different from his movie counterpart. Stroud was a violent repeat offender who
killed two people and tried to kill a third..., (10 Criminal Facts About the History of Alcatraz).
Furthermore, another notable criminal who was incarcerated at Alcatraz was Alvin Karpis. Karpis is
famous for being imprisoned on the Island the longest of any prisoner; he served his time for 26 of the
29 years that Alcatraz remained a maximum security prison(10 Criminal Facts About the History of
Alcatraz). Following the closing of the prison, Karpis was transported elsewhere to serve out his
remaining life sentence. Criminals who arrive at Alcatraz must have had a convincing reason to be
there, meaning they must have committed a serious crime at another institution or be a repeated

Trickery In The Odyssey
Odysseus, the King of Ithaca is trying to come home, after helping the Greeks win the Trojan War, by
making the plan of the Trojan horse. Odysseus and his men struggle through their 10 year journey
home and only with Odysseus trickery, bravery, and god honoring ways, he is able to make it back
alive. Odysseus on his journey back home goes through some human flawed situations, but has many
heroic moments. Odysseus overcomes these human flaws, making him become an Epic Hero.
Odysseus embodies the Greek value of trickery, when in the battle of Troy and on his journey back
home. Odysseus is in the Trojan War, comes up with the idea to penetrate the wall of Troy, Odysseus
does this by building the hollow Trojan Horse, (with Geeks inside) as a surrender gift to the Trojan
(Homer, Iliad). This plan Odysseus organized was trickery because the Trojans brought the Greek s
Trojan horse into Troy, with Greeks hiding inside the horse, the Greeks were able to get out of the
horse at night and opened the gates, in to Troy. With Odysseus trickery the Greeks are able to defeat

During the second world war, over eighteen million people were killed in concentration camps and in
the euthanasia program alone. Of these eighteen million, roughly six million were Jewish. This
number was so large, due to the euthanasia program and the many concentration camps located around
Nazi controlled Germany. The euthanasia program in Nazi Germany was the beginning idea of the
concentration camps. Not long after Adolf Hitler became Führer of Germany, he slowly instituted a
program to house certain citizens. According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, The

of the horror. They discovered about 7.000 starving prisoners, millions of items of clothing that once

Vocal Fry Research Paper
The terms vocal fry and up talk are two ways to describe some teenagers talk now. Vocal fry means
when one talks like they are choking or out of breath. This frequently happens at the end of a sentence.
The definition of up talk is when one says a sentence with a question in there or answering a question
with a question. When one talks about up talk, some people automatically think about teenager girls.
People thinks it is annoying and do not understand why these girls talk in this way. However, teen
girls are actually not the only group of people who talk in that way. Up talk is something most people
do, and it is almost like a nature that humans have. The cause of people using up talk is when people

Book Thief Rudy
Throughout the novel The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, Rudy Steiner has shown his heroic
capability by continuously putting other s needs before his own. His interminable behavior towards
the less fortunate, Liesel, and many different characters demonstrates his boldness and bravery to help
others, just as a hero would do. From the beginning of the book, you can infer that Rudy is an
altruistic character from his actions of defending Liesel in front of her classmates (page 51), to feeding
the undesirable Jews on the streets of Molching (page 440). Therefore, under all of these
circumstances, Rudy seems undaunted by the consequences that he may have brought upon himself.
Now, with World War Two under way, the young boy feels the need to protect his family, friends, and
the new girl on Himmel Street, Liesel. Rudy is an individual who follows his heart and is impervious
on what the rest of the world perceives. Lately, his whole world has revolved around Liesel Meminger,
the new girl on Himmel Street who has come to live with Hans and Rosa Hubermann. The lipstick
print denotes his desire to kiss her as brought up throughout the book such as on page 53, when the
author says, It was the lover boy coming out of him. If I beat you, I get to kiss you. Although Liesel
refuses numerous times, Rudy still remains diligent in trying. He seems unharmed by the denial from
Liesel from the naked eye, but on the inside, he gets discouraged as pointed out on page 303. He must

Effect of Hot Water Treatment on Germination of Acacia falcata seeds
Chaarvee Sood Department of Biological Sciences, Macquarie University, NSW 2109, Australia
Introduction
Germination process for acacia species takes variety of factors and not necessarily that all species
would take one coherent measures in order to germinate. Acacia falcata is one of the species for which
the germination process could be easily being noted through treatment of boiling water. Although
keeping in check that other suitable methodology can be taken to find results. Through several
research conducted in the area of germination in acacia, it is now transparent that varieties of acacia
seeds remain dormant in the soil and years may elapse until they all the viable seeds germinate.
According to (Harding, 1940), the reason behind this dormancy is due to the coat of the seed of many
acacia species to be thick, hard and highly polished. Hence reducing the moisture penetration to be a
very slow process in natural conditions. According to the research in (Harding, 1940), it has been
immensely shown that boiling water can improve the germination rate of acacia species. Particularly,
Acacia pycnantha which was shown to highly germinate when dipped in boiled water for 5 seconds
which had a percentage of 72.5%. However further study in (Harding, 1940) showed that Acacia

The Beginning and the End of the Weekend
The Beginning and the End of the Weekend.
Before the 1870 s, the week end was just that. Week end. The week end was Saturday night, not
Sunday. Sunday was considered the first day of the week, not the week end, week end or weekend. It
was not for work or fun, it was for worship, a day of rest. Now It s week days and weekend , as
Rybczynski points out in Waiting for the Weekend (35). We call the first day of the week, Monday, but
it is in fact, Sunday.
There was no such thing as the weekend as we know it until the 1870 s. Workers put in up to 16 hours
a day, 7 days a week, according to Krissy Clark s, A Weekend History Lesson, labor organizers
worked with the government to get shorter hours and better working conditions and better pay. These
kinds of changes did not easily come back then, some protesters lost their lives for publicly speaking
about it and others in riots. Men were insisting on having time to do whatever they wanted, whether it
be with their families, get more education or just leisure according to historian Michael Feldberg from
Clark. Clark also points out a bumper sticker made by artist Ricardo Levins Morales that says The
labor movement. The folks who brought you the weekend.
The weekend was actually brought about by several things: The unions coming in, pushing for what

A hierarchical Bayesian model is developed in the inverse problem setup. The Bayesian approach
contains a natural mechanism for regularization in the form of a prior distribution, and a LASSO type
prior distribution is used to strongly induce sparseness. We propose a variational type algorithm by
minimizing the Kullback Leibler divergence between the true posterior distribution and a separable
approximation. The proposed method is illustrated on several two dimensional linear and nonlinear
inverse problems, e.g., Cauchy problem and permeability estimation problem. The proposed method
performs comparably with full Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) in terms of accuracy and is

Notes On The And Binary Conversion
6. Gray to Binary Conversion A binary image is the matrix comprising of only 0 s(black) and 1
s(white). It can be implemented by using the command im2bw in MATLAB. Thresholding concept
has been used in this algorithm. The threshold concept works by choosing a threshold value, T,
automatically and then extract (or separate) object from background. The threshold function of the
binary image is defined as g(x,y) = {█(a,if (x,y) T@b,if (x,y)≤T)┤ Pixels having a value correspond
to object and pixels with b value correspond to background. Usually, a=1 (white) and b=0(black) by
convention. When T is a constant applicable over an entire image, the above equation is referred to as
Global thresholding. In the algorithm, global thresholding concept is used. Enhanced image is
converted into binary format by using the command im2bw and the resultant image is shown below
Fig. 11 Gray to Binary conversion 7. Morphological Operations Morphological operators take a binary
image and structuring element as an input and combine them using a set operator such as union and
intersection. Structuring element have dimension of 3*3 and its origin is at the center pixel. The pixels
of the structuring element are compared with each pixel of an image. If it matches the condition
defined by the set operator then the pixel is set to a pre defined value (0 or 1 for binary images). There
are two basic types of morphological operator, which is used in this algorithm. 7.1 Dilation Dilation

The War Of The Persian War
In Ancient Greece there were many famous wars and conquerors, in every era. These wars were all
recorded in early history and lasted a couple of years. The only one that was not, or is thought to be
made up, is the Trojan War. The only things they can go off of are the stories and the ruins of the city
of Troy. Another famous war was the Persian wars. This war was the first big war between the persian
empire and Spartans/Athens. After the Persian war, the Peloponnesian war took place, which was led
by sparta. Than in Ancient Greece there were two main conquerors, Philip II and Alexander. As they
are father and son, Philip II did a lot less than his son Alexander. Alexander wanted to fulfill his father
s visions, which he exceeded his expectations. The trojan war took place in 1250 B.C.E. As this war
has little evidence that it happened, it was passed down through many generations that this war took
place. Many stories have the war happening in the city of Troy. Two famous poets wrote about this
war, Homer and Sophocles, which wrote the Iliad Odyssey. These poems are part of evidence that this
war took place. One of the stories has a Wooden Horse as a gift to the Trojans, and when the horse
was in the city the Spartans invaded Troy. This war was to believe to be started by the kidnapping of
the Spartan Queen, Helen, by the Trojan prince, Paris. This ended with the Greeks winning and in
some stories, the death of the Trojan prince. The Persian war lasted from 499 B.C.E

Based on the 1982 Stephen King novella titled Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, Frank
Darabont s film adaptation The Shawshank Redemption was released in 1994 and become a
remarkable motion picture in the history of American cinema. The film tells the story of prison life,
focusing on the mutual trust, friendship and growth prisoners experience together set against the
intolerable hardship and despair of prison life. Moreover, the movie portrays the nearly twenty year
friendship between two imprisoned men, Andy Dufresne and Ellis Red Redding, and how their self
concepts gradually change and their behaviors adjust to life behind bars. In 1948, a young and well off

During Andy and Red s first encounter in the yard when Andy asks Red if he could possibly get him a
rock hammer he says to Red I have no enemies here and Red replies No? with a smile, and said Wait
awhile (King, 1982). Since Andy is new to prison life, he does not understand that the second he
walked into Shawshank prison he made enemies already, but Red understands that and sarcastically
warns Andy about the possible threats are becoming more apparent. A man like Red, a man who has
many friends on the inside know that those friends and popularity will help keep him safe and alive.
While Andy is a man without friends and will eventually not be safe in Shawshank Prison anymore
unless he begins to make friends and alliances. The scenes that the bus enter the prison best represents
the dynamic or an individual outsider within an outsider group. Separation between the new prisoners
and the old ones is clearly evident in this scene. The way the old prisoners are taunting and attempting
to frighten the news ones is a prime example. The experienced inmates know the system and the
organizational culture; they know the do s and don ts of prison life, whereas the novices do not. The
fences surrounding the prison maintain the idea that prisoners are outside of mainstream society, but
also part of a separate community within the

It can also be interpreted, however, as a debate about the purpose of the corporation or about whose
interests the corporation should ultimately serve.
Various academics have joined the debate, arguing that there is an increasing consensus that managers
should strive to maximize shareholder value, and that doing so maximizes social welfare. There is also
a claim that managers are increasingly setting shareholder value maximization as their main corporate
target. This paper questions the existence of a widespread consensus that companies maximize
shareholder value or should do so.
Theoretical reasons to doubt the existence of a strong consensus are often related to the externalities
that a focus on shareholder value maximization would create.
How corporations are run can affect, for example, the welfare of entire regions.
Tirole (2001, p. 3) summarizes this line of reasoning by writing, There is no denying that such
externalities may be substantial [...]. Why should institution design ignore the natural stakeholders,
and favor the investors, who are stakeholders by design, by giving them full control rights and by
aligning managerial compensation with their interests? The doubts about the consensus on shareholder
value maximization, however, transcend financial externalities. Take the case of managerial
compensation. Critics throughout the Western world have called for legal

patients are being asking questions related to marijuana uses and glaucoma, whether it is beneficial or
not to treat such disease. However, the American Academy of Ophthalmology does not have a
scientific evidence of marijuana effectiveness to treat glaucoma. In the 1970s different studies were

Britain, the UK and London are the home of global menswear
(Menswear: British Fashion is GREAT, 2004, 6:41) Caroline Rush, chief executive of the British
Fashion Council stated in a video to promote and celebrate British Menswear.
London, as the capital of the United Kingdom and often used synonymous as representing the country
as whole, is regarded by many as the capital of menswear, claiming to have invented several items
crucial for contemporary Western menswear and the long standing tailoring tradition of Savile Row.
As the statement above, London is also a pivotal point for fashion. Ironically, both are often referred
to separately. Menswear contains more than the fickle, superficial phenomenon of fashion as it is ...

critically analyze its conception.
2. Dressing a nation
Nations, despite their localization in certain geographical and geopolitical territories, are always
imagined communities because national boundaries do not necessarily coincide with ethnic and
cultural identities of all members of a nation. Due to nations artificial construction they are subject to
constant formation and change. To [foster] a sense of identification (Kaiser, 2012, p.52) within such a
conglomerate of multiple identities of its inhabitants, often certain forms of dress are introduced and
used to create and establish coherence and uniformity within the nation and difference to other nations
(ibid p.52f).
2.a National femininity
With dress employed as a way to express and strengthen national identification of its inhabitants many
nations chose rural, traditional , ethnic or peasant attire, perceived as unchanging and static, as a most
appropriate representative (ibid. p.53).

Also, preferred dividends must be paid before common stock dividends. To calculate the dividends for preferred stocks, you need to multiply the par value of the shares by the dividend percentage. Example 1: If the dividend percentage is 8 percent and the preferred stock was issued at $20 per share, then the annual dividend is: 8% * $20 = $1.60 per share. • 8. Chivalry In Medieval Literature The Dark ages also know as the Middle ages were a time when medieval literature started. What is medieval literature? It is a broad subject about all the written works available in Europe. The funny film Monty python recreates the Arthurian stories. This film made fun of the circumstances during Middle Ages told through the story of King Arthur( Morte d Arthur) and framed by a modern day murder investigation. All of the knights were sent on a quest to find the Holy Grail facing a bunch of obstacles mentally and physically. The king of the Britons (Arthur) lead his knights through a persistent Black Knight, Three headed giant, an old man guarding the bridge of death, a shrubbery challenge, the Castle Anthrax (house of the virgins), rude Frenchman and a killer rabbit. Throughout the film and story of Morte d Arthur we see themes and codes of chivalry being mocked. We see examples of loyalty, bravery, knowledge, modesty, and honesty, which are all expectations of knightly behavior. The knight s loyalty and bravery are constantly being tested on their quest to find the Holy Grail. It is their duty as knights to continue on their journey and to follow the chivalric code, but can they do it? On their quest some of the knights received same flesh wounds and even death. On King Arthur s quest he comes across the Green Knight and the Black Knight fighting. It is a tough and respectful battle but unfortunately the Green Knight dies. King Arthur respected the Black Knight and wanted him to be apart of his group of the knights at the round table. The Black Knight won´t let Arthur through the woods without a fight so then they battle. We see the theme of bravery being mocked during this battle because the Black Knight was losing but would not give up. Arthur sliced off all his limbs yet the Black Knight still wanted to keep going. Bravery is being mocked here because knights would fight to the death which was very brave. In the film they make a joke of this because the Black Knight was limbless and still wants to fight KIng Arthur and we all know this would not happen in real life. Another obstacle the knights run into during their journey are young women. You think young women are harmless but they are always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Summary Of The Film The Linguists The film The Linguists follows linguists Gregory Anderson and David Harrison on their journey to learn about and document endangered languages in Bolivia, India, Arizona, and Siberia. Through their quest, they are able to interact with some of the few remaining speakers of languages that are near death and they manage to make an impact on how these communities view their heritage language. Focusing on the moribund languages of Siberia and Arizona, it becomes evident that speakers of the heritage language feel a love for the language and the culture it represents, but went through periods of oppression and embarrassment for being speakers of a minority language that ultimately shaped their attitudes on the language. The film highlights the Chemehuevi language of a Native American tribe in Arizona, where there is only one remaining speaker. The speaker is forced to repeat words to himself and replay recordings in Chemehuevi over and over again so that he can keep the language alive, since there is no one else who knows the language. This exemplifies how drastically endangered this language is, as it is only survived by one speaker. It is evident that this man has a love for his language and a cultural attachment to it because he does not give up in keeping it alive, even if it means having to talk to himself repeatedly. The local majority language that killed off Chemehuevi was English, as it kept being imposed on younger generations until it was ultimately the only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Juvenile Violent Crime And Juvenile Crime Rates According to (Walton, 2014), as far back as the late 1800 s, children have been sentenced to the same punishments as adults, depending on the crime they committed. Punishments even included death if the juvenile was deemed to be past the point of help. Later on courts were geared more towards rehabilitation than punishment. Reform movements came along and parents could send their children off to reformatories to live and work as part of their rehabilitation. Due to poor living and working conditions many of these places were closed down. Soon after the Progressive Era, the first juvenile court system was opened in Illinois. The main focus of these courts was rehabilitation for the juveniles (Fiorillo, 2013). Juvenile violent crime rates had increased so much that law makers knew they had to do something to combat all of the violence. Juveniles were committing murder, assault, rape and other serious crimes which sent the public into a fear overload. These increases in juvenile violent crimes lead to some of our early get tough on juvenile laws. Policy makers were inclined to push for harsher laws for juveniles who committed violent crimes. The increase in juvenile crimes led lawmakers away from implementing laws the focused on rehabilitation and back to laws that focused on punishment. States began to develop statutes allowed juveniles to be tried in the same court system and receive the same sentences as adults. These statutes brought important reforms to the juvenile ... The UDL is an approach to curriculum development that provides flexibility in the ways information is presented, in the ways students demonstrate knowledge and skills, and in the way students are engaged. The purpose of this approach is to meet the diverse learning styles and needs for all students, including students with disabilities and students who require ESL support. UDL offers students equal access to learning and equal opportunity to participate in their own learning by opening several learning pathways and using assistive technology. Some examples of assistive technologies are captioned video, speech recognition applications, audio players and recorders, reading guides applications etc. Regarding the second ... As we know, teaching and learning for adults is a process of negotiation characterized by learners taking control and self responsibility in their learning process. Moreover, much of adult learning theory is based on the idea that experience is the basis for genuine education. Clearly, heutagogy is a constructivist perspective that shares the common assumption that learning is the construction of meaning from experience and emphasizes the collaborative nature of learning and the importance of cultural and social context. In addition, heutagogy as an extension of andragogy includes more interaction between the teacher and student; student to student; and student to content/expert. With heutagogy, teaching and learning have moved into a more connected, creative education that integrates web 2.0 and social media to promote cooperative learning, global learning, shared reflections, and creation of learner generated ... • 14. Relationship Between A Manufacturer And A Distributor Writing Assignment #2 The relationship between a manufacturer and a distributor is a crucial part in the success of a business alliance or partnership. It is necessary to pay close attention to the relationship between manufacturers and distributors in terms of trust, alliances and conflict. Manufacturers and distributors should select each other appropriately and wisely because each member of the supply chain has different expectations for the other. The most common two paths for a manufacturer to enter the market through distribution are exclusively and non exclusively. Information on relations and channel paths is significant because it will be easier be able to include them in my other projects and classes throughout the rest of academic and professional careers. The most vital concepts I learned in IDIS 340 is how important it is for manufacturers and distributors to choose the right business partners. Market share is the main driver for manufacturers, so they must turn their attention to distributors that have a wide range of access to the market. Profitability is the primary focus of distributors so they should choose manufacturers that have a strong market brand, supply the appropriate products to meet the market s demands, and offers a technical sales team. Sharing common goals and visions is perhaps the most significant element in choosing how to align a manufacturer and distributor. After aligning with proper distributors, manufacturers have expectations that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Free Time For Students In High School And College Over half of the students in the United States struggle with grades, thus resulting in an unhappy experience in high school and college. Patience, effort, and preparation for needs are an essential key to knowledge and success. Before such steps can be followed, a student must set self goals of what they desire to achieve in school over a period of time. Not all students are born naturally gifted with intelligence in this universe, but following the most helpful directions in life will in no doubt assist any lost student in achieving his or her self desire. The negligence of studying and completing homework is the first and main reason why students continue to struggle with their grades and life in general. Free time between classes and after school should contribute towards studying and homework instead of time to associate with friends and/or a significant other. Of course, students do not have to shelter themselves away from what makes them most happy, however, free time should be divided up so that a proper amount is spent preparing for tests or finishing assignments. Just one to two hours a day spent studying can boost a grade from a seventy percent to a ninety percent, and this will significantly relieve stress and boost confidence. Not only do some students need to divide up time between a social life and school work, but they also desire to divide it up between extracurricular activities and/or a job. Most people want to experience a little bit of everything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For Christine, educating oneself on morality and ignorance is essential in shaping one s individuality. Then for Simone, she uses education as a basis for debunking the unrealistic ideals and values placed on women; teaching women to create an identity for themselves. By defining individuality as the unique journey to awareness and difference, community becomes a central point of conversion to direct one s education in context towards her newly converted identity. Base pairs are genetic codes made up of four chemicals (Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine) and each sequence differs in every person. Because DNA is so complex and varies immensely in individuals, it can be used like a fingerprint, hence the name DNA Fingerprinting. DNA can be found and analyzed in blood, semen, saliva, hair and skin even decades old if properly stored. That is a great example of an effective use of DNA Fingerprinting and security. Previously used only in research labs, DNA fingerprinting has become more common to the public. Although mostly used for paternity testing, DNA profiling is reliable enough as evidence that prosecutors are relying on it more and more to help convict suspects in criminal cases. One specific example occurred in Goldsboro, North Carolina. A man known as the Night Stalker had committed offenses of rape in 1990 to three elderly women. Each incident resulted in an attempt to murder the victim; however, only two lost their lives along with one husband. One woman was fortunately saved by the unusually early arrival of her daughter. • 21. Apollandsian Vs Dionyysian Friedrich Nietzsche believed that art fit into two categories: the Apollonian and the Dionysian, or sometimes a combination of the two. The Apollonian consists of visual art and poetry, while the Dionysian is music and dancing. But lyrical music, or poetry in music form, is a combination of the two. Revenge of the Dadaists by The Agonist is this kind of song, as there is emphasis on both the lyrics and the music. Within the lyrics is an indirect description of the wisdom of Silenus and its reversal: where life is horrible and death is the end goal, but then art justifies life s problems and eternal life is desired. The singer also sings in the first person, thus surrendering subjectivity through the music. And the words imitate the sound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But since lyrical music is a combination of both the Apollonian and the Dionysian, it is hard to say which it supports. Even with the constant use of I throughout many songs, including Revenge of the Dadaists, it s hard to say if this is the songwriter s voice, the singer s voice, or the universal voice of humanity in general. Nietzsche says that In the first place, as Dionysian artist he has identified himself with the Primal Unity, its pain and contradiction... Now, however, under the Apollonian dream inspiration, this music reveals itself to him again as a symbolic dream picture... The artist has already surrendered his subjectivity in the Dionysian process. The picture which now shows him his identity with the heart of the world, is a dream scene, which embodies the primordial contradiction and primordial pain, together with the primordial joy, of appearance (511 512). In other words, despite the I used throughout the song, the fact that it is set to music makes the I become part of the Dionysian, thus representing the whole world. So even while the singer sings about personal issues, these problems become dreamlike and universal so anyone can connect to them. Thus everyone knows and feels the singer s pain through contradiction. So in Revenge of the Dadaists, the lyrics You leave footsteps of fire / So no one can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effect of Hot Water Treatment on Germination of Acacia falcata seeds Chaarvee Sood Department of Biological Sciences, Macquarie University, NSW 2109, Australia Introduction Germination process for acacia species takes variety of factors and not necessarily that all species would take one coherent measures in order to germinate. Acacia falcata is one of the species for which the germination process could be easily being noted through treatment of boiling water. Although keeping in check that other suitable methodology can be taken to find results. Through several research conducted in the area of germination in acacia, it is now transparent that varieties of acacia seeds remain dormant in the soil and years may elapse until they all the viable seeds germinate. According to (Harding, 1940), the reason behind this dormancy is due to the coat of the seed of many acacia species to be thick, hard and highly polished. Hence reducing the moisture penetration to be a very slow process in natural conditions. According to the research in (Harding, 1940), it has been immensely shown that boiling water can improve the germination rate of acacia species. It can be implemented by using the command im2bw in MATLAB. Thresholding concept has been used in this algorithm. The threshold concept works by choosing a threshold value, T, automatically and then extract (or separate) object from background. The threshold function of the binary image is defined as g(x,y) = {█(a,if (x,y) T@b,if (x,y)≤T)┤ Pixels having a value correspond to object and pixels with b value correspond to background. Usually, a=1 (white) and b=0(black) by convention. When T is a constant applicable over an entire image, the above equation is referred to as Global thresholding. It can also be interpreted, however, as a debate about the purpose of the corporation or about whose interests the corporation should ultimately serve. Various academics have joined the debate, arguing that there is an increasing consensus that managers should strive to maximize shareholder value, and that doing so maximizes social welfare. There is also a claim that managers are increasingly setting shareholder value maximization as their main corporate target. This paper questions the existence of a widespread consensus that companies maximize shareholder value or should do so. Theoretical reasons to doubt the existence of a strong consensus are often related to the externalities that a focus on shareholder value maximization would create. How corporations are run can affect, for example, the welfare of entire regions. Tirole (2001, p. 3) summarizes this line of reasoning by writing, There is no denying that such externalities may be substantial [...]. Why should institution design ignore the natural stakeholders, and favor the investors, who are stakeholders by design, by giving them full control rights and by aligning managerial compensation with their interests? He highlights that research has shown very promising results with the use of cannabis for epilepsy and some others neurological disorders. On the other hand, Representative Frank Wolf disapproves with their opinion. Wolf is concerned that the public and policymakers do not have an accurate understanding of the health and public safety impacts of widespread marijuana availability. London, as the capital of the United Kingdom and often used synonymous as representing the country as whole, is regarded by many as the capital of menswear, claiming to have invented several items crucial for contemporary Western menswear and the long standing tailoring tradition of Savile Row. As the statement above, London is also a pivotal point for fashion. Ironically, both are often referred to separately.
