Sojourner Truth s Shadow
Sojourner Truth was born Isabella Baumfree in 1797 as one of 12 children to enslaved parents
James and Elizabeth Baumfree. As a young girl Isabella was often traded between owners who
could at times be cruel and harsh towards her. In 1815 at around the age of 18 Isabella married a
man by the name of Thomas who was also a slave and together they had five children. In 1827 a
year before the emancipation act of 1828 that would free all slaves in the state of New York,
Isabella ran away leaving behind her husband and children only carrying her infant daughter,
Sophia. She had a feeling that her master intended on going back on his word to grant her her
freedom. Isabella found solace with a couple by the name of Van Wagener, Isaac Van Wagener a

Ftir History
History of the FTIR
The FTIR came from the IR (infrared) spectrum that was found in the 1800s. IR spectrum was
discovered by Sir William Herschel. A scientist named Peter Fellget had obtained the first IR
spectrum by using the FTIR in 1949.
The FTIR stands for Fourier Transfrom Infrared Spectroscopy. More FTIRs were being used by the
1960s. When matter and energy interact it produces wavelengths that can be seen by the FTIR.
Basically, all FT are waveforms that are just the sum of simply sinusoids of different frequencies. It
uses a mathematical tool that show how to deconstruct the waveform of the sinusoid components.
The FTIR analyzes the absorption of certain wavelengths by a solid or liquid sample. FT IR

Central Bank s Influence On The Market In The National...
Define the role of the Central Bank and its influence on the market in the national economy.
Monetary policy is the process of supplying nominal money, look after the availability of money
and cost of interest rate, which is controlled by the government or central bank, can be rather an
expansionary policy, or a contractionary policy. The expansionary policy is adopted to increase the
whole amount of supply of money in the economy, and a contractionary policy is used to decrease
the whole amount of nominal money supply. The central bank or government usually use the
expansionary policy to fight against unemployment in a recession, where they lower the interest
rate, so investment can grow. On the other hand the contractionary policy is ... Show more content

The raising of government spending is done by purpose, the state wants people to consume and
invest more so the economy will grow faster. But the raising of interest rate is unexpected and not
wished to be the perfect result of tax cuts, because higher the interest rate, lower the investment rate,
and this has a negative effect on the economy.
The Central banks can create money in three different ways, the first is money creation, producing
a new monetary unit, and this is the case when older currencies need to be changed because they
can t be used anymore. Another example is when a new EU member adopts Euros instead of their
old currency. The second is credit creation, where Banks are lending money to other banks, the clue
is that they are not dealing with money as cash but they use virtual money. The third is electronic
creation which is the process of buying government bonds or other financial scriptures by central
bank through Open market operations.
The primary objective of the European Central Bank is to maintain price stability within the Euro
zone, or in other words to keep inflation low. The ECB aims at inflation rates of below, but close
to, 2% over the medium term. It s obvious that inflation can influence the savings and that s why
also investment, when the price of goods are rising and peoples income stayed the same so
consumers have less money to save. Inflation can also used by the government

Section 59 of the Crimes Act and a Parent s Right to...
The change to Section 59 of the Crimes Act compromises a parent s right to discipline their child.
Parents are in a position of authority in which they are responsible for shaping their children into
respectful, law abiding citizens, and often a light smack to the hand or bottom is an effective way
of teaching the right attitude and behaviour. If a child displays behaviour that goes against what
their parents are teaching them, a light smack is often necessary in letting the child know what they
are doing is wrong.
Changing the Crimes Act will not stop serious physical abuse from happening to children. Research
carried out in Christchurch has suggested that serious offences of child abuse occur as a result of
parental personal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michele Wilkinson Smith (2007), a criminal lawyer who has argued on both sides of Section 59
in court deems the repeal unnecessary. In her own experience she has never seen a case where a
child has been seriously abused go excused because of the reasonable force defence and it is
likely that no New Zealand jury would find such serious abuse to be perfectly reasonable. It is
unrealistic to assume a person who has seriously harmed a child will go unpunished, however
parents who lightly smack will face serious consequences. Joanne Black (2007) agrees, saying the
only effect of this change is that a parent who smacks a child in order to improve his or her
behaviour breaks the law (p. 58). Light smacking to improve a child s behaviour is at the discretion
of the parent, who is aiming to better their child, not seriously harm them.
Naturally, the change to Section 59 does have a positive side, providing a step toward New
Zealand becoming a less violent society. Removing the reasonable force defence gives parents the
opportunity to think twice about the practices they use in correcting their child s behaviour, opting
to not use a physical method. Children of this abuse are also less likely to go out and commit
violent crimes as a result of the way they were brought up. In the long run, this change could alter
the way parents treat their children, and therefore, cutting back on crime (Else, 2007). However, this

Chemotherapy is the main way of treating AML.It is divided into three phase, Induction
chemotherapy, Post remission chemotherapy and Consolidation chemotherapy.Alone a
chemotherapy is not that much effective so a Stem cell transplantation or a Bone marrow
Transplantation is recommended (only if the patients is able to tolerate a transplantation) in most of
the times. Allogeneic (ALLO) stem cell transplantation (i.e. using donated stem cell)is done in case
of patients suffering from AML[17]. This induction chemotherapyis given with (except in case of
M3 subtype of AML) cytarabine (ara C) and an anthracycline [18]. The induction Chemotherapy

dosages of chemotherapy, Gemtuzumab Ozogamicin (Mylotarg), a monoclonal antibody linked

by its manufacturer, Pfizer in the year of 2010[22]. US FDA approved Arsenic trioxide for the

How Is Humor Used In Hamlet
Humor is used for many different reasons. It may be used as a relief after a heavy and dark
situation, to lighten the mood. Sometimes it is used as a defense mechanism, to hide what the
character is truly thinking about. Other times, it may be utilized to accuse someone without being
blatantly rude. In Hamlet, Hamlet constantly uses humorfor different reasons and situations. He
uses subtle humor such as pun when he is feeling depressed. Wit when he is angry and offended.
Comic relief when Hamlet is feeling relaxed and is with someone he trust. Thus, humor is used to
reveal Hamlet s emotion. Hamlet uses puns whenever he is feeling down and do not have any
energy. In the first Act, Hamlet is depressed due to the death of his father and claims

How Does Social Media Have A Negative Effect On Body Image
As Theodore Roosevelt once said, Comparison is the thief of joy. Many women and men often find
themselves obsessed with comparison to others. People often look at themselves in the mirror and
think that they are not good enough, and that they are not pretty or skinny. Social media plays a
huge role in this. Celebritiesphotos can be so fake and edited on social media to the point where
the photo does not even look like them. Young women and girls spend so much time on social
media and this is all they see. It is no wonder that their self esteem is so low. They are looking at
pictures of unrealistic bodies for hours and hours on end. A recent poll by CNN stated that, Thirty
five percent of young women and girls, are worried about other... Show more content on

Some people always look in the mirror and think they look bad or ugly. They may do this
because they spend hours and hours on end looking at pictures that are very much fake and
photoshopped. Many people may compare themselves to other celebrities and people. Social
media is the main cause of this. There are no positives to comparing yourself with others.
Comparing yourself with others will lead to either an inferiority complex or a superiority complex.
Both of which will have a negative effect on your self improvement in the long run (Selvam).
When young girls are spending the majority of their day on social media and they are looking at
these pictures they do not know any better and are of course going to compare themselves to
others. The young women might not even be looking at real pictures of people instead
photoshopped and unrealistic bodies. Us teens believe it or not, can sometimes be like monkeys.
We would much rather have something sweet than a boring vegetable. That something sweet
could be having a hot or sexy body. Rather than a have a boring and ugly body like the boring
vegetable. We really are beautiful on the inside and outside and we most definitely do not need to
edit our bodies to the ideal image for the public and the rest of the

How Is Iago A Complex Character In Othello
Shakespeare s work is heavily studied in America. He has created hundreds of works, and many
of his plays have found a place in classrooms around the world. Shakespeare has written many
famous plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. With all these plays one character
type has appeared repeatedly throughout his work, a character that spurs on trouble and usually
exhibits antagonistic actions while on stage. One great example is Iagofrom Shakespeare s Othello.
He constantly manipulates the feelings and actions of fellow characters to insure his own schemes
come to fruition (Melville). This character acts as the antagonist that causes the very problem the
play centers around ... most of the hardships in the tale come about because... Show more content on

His plot had been complete but he had been unable to escape the fallout freely. With Iago s
treachery out in the open his trial was quick, reaching the verdict of imprisonment and torture.
Iago was unable to escape the backlash of his mischief and paid with his life. That is why this
play is called a tragedy, almost every main character is dead by the plays end, leaving nothing
but death and a lesson. Revenge is often a double edged sword, fulfilling the ambitions of those
brash enough to wield it at the cost of whatever the user holds dear. The core lesson Shakespeare
was teaching his audience was to have faith in those closest to them, to give them the benefit of
any doubt and to never allow your anger to determine your choices. Iago was consumed with his
anger at the mention of rumors about Othello and his wife, and his dissatisfaction with Cassio s
promotion. Have faith in those you love and strive to give yourselves the happiest life possible.
Life does not always go as we would like, but we should simply continue to strive for our

False News Bias Essay
Everyday, billions of people read websites, magazines, newspapers, or watch television segments
so they are informed on what is happening in the world. The news is something that so many
people rely on and check constantly. What people aren t aware of however, is that so much of
what they are being told is a lie. False newsis a growing and constant issue in today s society. Fake
news spreads rapidly, changing people s views on the world constantly. However, putting an end
to this media trend has proved to be a struggle. Fake news comes from countless places and spreads
at an alarmingly fast rate. Usually, false stories start as a hoax on a small scale website, blog, or
even social media post. A journalist from a slightly bigger news... Show more content on

Most of this has to do with the fact that fake news is biased. People like and share the
information that aligns or confirms their beliefs and disregard the information that does not.
According to a recent analysis, information can bring people together or drive them apart... Fake
news is divisive . On the other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and
persuades the ones who do not. With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people
have become more and more divided on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society
that has been completely bombarded with false information is the Presidential Election. In fact,
as election day got closer and closer, the most popular stories were derived from false
information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters were trying to make an educated
decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that was not even true. Some
people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But why are people
believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone s opinion on something,
they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources have been
working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do this is
by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another way is by making their
sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to trustworthy places ( Fake
News and the Internet Shell Game ). Unfortunately, once fake news is produced and in the public,
it can change people s views on the

Standardized Test And Measure A Student s Scholastic...
A standardized test: an exam to measure a student s scholastic performance. Though this definition
holds merit in its general meaning, it does not take into account whether the exam is unbiased, fair,
or accurate. Mainly, in part, due to the questions presented in the exam, as well as the fact that the
questions and answers to the testare made by subjective human beings, certain biases can be seen in
a standardized test. These biases include the favoring of the dominant culture, people of a certain
English dialect, along with students who come from a functional academic curriculum. The
inaccuracy of the test can also be seen since the assessments provided in the test do not capture
the full extent of what students know and can do. Consequently, when looking into the issue of
whether standardized testing is a fair assessment of one s overall knowledge or achievement in
one s educational career, one ought ask whether the use of standardized testing for the assessment
of a future college student s mental capabilities the ideal form of showing a student s true
potential in both academic and real life settings? One should also question whether standardized
testing has grounds to determine whether a person is qualified for higher educational
opportunities. In addition, for many years, standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT have been
known for their ability to measure and assess how well a student will do in his or her college life;
however, in recent years, studies

The definition of child protection is the process of protecting individual children identified as

protection is increasingly being replaced by safeguarding . Safeguarding has been described as; a
broader definition of the range of ways in which adults and professionals working with children

St. Patricks Day Pranks
Papa (2011), emphasized that current classroom teachers are digital immigrants preparing a
generation of digital natives (p.109). This concept that was alarmingly true last Thursday, when a
small group of students employed the use of technology to pull a St. Patrick s Day prank. The
scheme was simple enough, the culprits downloaded an android app which would allow them to
selectively turn on the classroom televisions to airplay youtube videos. Interestingly, they had
preselected a goofy, yet tasteful video of a man playing the electric saxophone to play throughout
the day. The video prompted a great deal of confusion for the teaching staff, with most reacting as
if voodoo had taken over their t.v.s. Although this prank exemplifies a small disruption within a

Unfortunately, our situation is not unique. Across the nation schools are routinely subjected to
outside hacking, in house errors, and even technology gaps at companies they work with , making

held responsible for paying significant legal fees and damages if private student academic
information is breached (Bathon, 2013, p.1). Papa (2011), indicated to combat these issues
administrators must consider protective measures for both internet and technology use (p.198).
Protocols for teaching students how to use the internet appropriately must be put in place (Papa,

Essay about Spanish Resistance to Napoleon
Napoleon and the Spanish Resistance
Throughout time, the military has been considered one of the key features in a civilization. It has
been considered the heart and soul of many countries and empires and has been the center of many
cultures. Throughout history we have seen many military leaders and military powers. We have
seen military techniques and technology change as we progress. Our schools are filled with
legends of great war heroes and hard fought battles. One such hero is Napoleon Bonaparte, perhaps
one of the greatest generals who ever lived. In his adventures and conquest, as general of the
French army, he warred against many lands. These included Spain, in which ... Show more content

Some guerillas will even use crowds to conceal themselves, called urban guerillas. Urban
guerillas have to rely heavily on support from the citizens. Guerilla warfare basically relies on
one standard. The element of surprise. Often, guerillas will not be in uniform and carry just a
concealed weapon. By doing this it helps the guerillas startle the enemy and catch them off guard,
giving them the clear cut advantage. Also, the enemy is always in a state of fear, never knowing
when or where these guerillas could pop out and attack. They are constantly on watch and they tire
easily. By using guerilla warfare, forces are able to lower they re casualties while increasing their
opponents, even if they are winning cheap. Because they often time use cowardly tactics, guerillas
are usually considered terrorists by their opponents. Sometimes however, this can be true.
Guerillas in some cases have used propaganda, or started revolts to win over their cause. Instead of
trying to defeat their enemy, they try to create chaos, hoping to drive their enemy out. Massive
riots and sabotage are not at all uncommon in guerilla wars. All in all, guerilla warfare is the use of
unconventional war tactics used against enemies that follow these conventional laws.
Now that we have cleared that up, lets move to the actual events that took place. Spanish resistance
was mainly part of the Peninsular War, or as some call it, Napoleon s

Maria Isabella Boyd aka Belle Boyd Essay
Have you ever dreamt of living an adventurous life? Well for me that was reality. I was a spy and
actress, mercilessly charming Union officers into giving me information. Dubbed La Belle
Rebelle by a French war correspondent, I went by the name Belle Boyd instead of my original
name, Maria Isabella Boyd. I have gone in and out of jail, marriages, and careers (three of each).
Throughout the whole ordeal though, I have been constant in my loyalty to the Confederacy. Born
on May 4, 1843, I was raised just like any other southern lady. My father was a merchant, and I
grew up in Martinsburg, West Virginia with my parents, several brothers, one sister, and
grandmother. I attended Mount Washington Female College of Baltimore from age 12 to... Show

I raised money for the South until I became more active. My spying career began by chance. A
band of drunken Union officers broke into my home and insulted my mother. The horror! I drew
a pistol and shot a man. Though I was acquitted of the crime, officers still kept close watch over
me. I took advantage of them and bewitched them into revealing military secrets. I made my slave,
Eliza Hopewell, carry the secret messages to confederate soldiers in a hollowed out watchcase.
Then one warm May evening in 1862, a Union troop gathered in my local hotel. I hid upstairs,
eavesdropping through a hole on the floorboards. It was exciting to hear secrets poured out, and
the adrenaline pumped through my blood. I rode out acting and bluffing my way past the Union
sentries and conveyed my information, which allowed Jackson?s army to win a battle. I braved
enemy fire that put holes in my skirt. For my contributions, I was awarded the position of captain,
a true honor. I continued to carry more messages after that. Romance led me in and out of trouble,
one beau betrayed me while another saved me. C.W.D. Smitely, one sweetheart, told about my
spying escapades. I was sent to Capital Prison on July 29 1862. Soon after leaving it, I was
imprisoned in Old Carroll Prison in Washington D.C. It wasn?t too bad though, I spent my time
living like royalty reading fashionable magazines and eating delicacies brought by

The Impact Of Privacy On The Internet
As technology continues to advance, the world continues to shrink. Information can be easily
obtained with a click of a mouse. Since this information is keystrokes away, how can individuals or
businesses monitor this public information on the Internet? Can this accessible information violate
an individual s privacy? First, the word privacy is defined in numerous ways from an individual or
business perspective. Based on these different views of privacy, this can impact operations or
people s life.
The definition of privacy for a business is to collect information about its customers, but respect
the customer s privacy. Businesses took the concern of individual s privacy a long time ago, and
created a section of the business for privacy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to McCreary, that growth rate reflects more than just a greater appreciation of privacy
protection as a business responsibility (McCreary pg.5, 2008). The rise of these executive positions
and organizations is due to privacy regulations that impact businesses.
With privacy laws, businesses can collect people s personal information, analyze it, but the
business has to be within reason. Before these privacy laws, business were able to collect all the
information that the company can access and use that information to their advantage. If the
information leaked out or was stolen, the business did not have to disclose the issue with the
public or even the company s customers. Now, businesses have to release to the public on any
breaches of security such as their privacy. When California passed legislation in 2003, companies
were obligated to alert them to a breach at the earliest reasonable moment after it was discovered
(McCreary pg.6, 2008). After this regulation was passed, other states began to adopt their own
mandates of security to protect individual s privacy.
Ultimately, this changed how business analyzed their risk equation. Businesses would have to face
the consequences when information is breached, and the reputation from its customers. Enterprises
are trying to be proactive when collecting, storing and protecting an individual s data. A privacy

Comedy in Midsummer Night s Dream Shakespeare displays wordplay regularly throughout
Midsummer Night s Dream. Wordplay is the witty usage of words and banter such as puns, irony,

establish comedy. It helps tell a story by entertaining, amusing and providing satire. He even uses

He claims that drinking tea occasionally led to a less buildup of calcium that can inhibit the
arteries function to transport blood to the heart. For this reason, this condition could cause heart
disease, high blood pressure, or stroke. Thus, drinking tea is associated with a 36 per cent lower
risk of heart disease compared to those who drank less than a single cup of tea per day (Smith,
2016). Adversely, coffee is good for the digestive system in the body. Dr. Stephen Gruber, director
of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer center and senior author of the study indicated that
there was a decreased risk that was seen across all types of coffee, both caffeinated and
decaffeinated (Lambert, 2017). Dr. Gruber also reported that coffee consumption decreases the risk
of colorectal cancer (Lambert, 2017).
Another benefit of drinking tea is that it helps reduce weight. Many scientists and doctors motivate
obese people to acknowledge drinking tea for weight loss. Euan MacLennan, a medical herbalist

Wasdin Sel Team Six Analysis
Brotherhood Morality In the book SEAL Team Six By Howard Wasdin, there are many different
themes that the author develops. Two of the most prevalent he uses are brotherhood and
morality. Brotherhood is developed because the SEAL team members learn to trust each other
like family. Navy SEALS must also recognize morality because it can easily be lost on some of
the most traumatic ops. Wasdin develops the themes of brotherhood and morality throughout the
book. When Wasdin is on is on SEAL team two, he describes the bond he has with the rest of his
team. One of the ongoing traditions among this naval force is how they acquire their nicknames.
Each name given to an individual soldier is unique and developed over time, sometimes a guy
gets his nickname for doing something really stupid. (11). Later, Wasdin refers to his team to be
just as important as his actual family. Wasdin was extremely dedicated to his military career,
especially working with SEAL Team Two. The teams were everything. After staying in the hospital

To have good morals is being able to know the difference between good and bad. Since Wasdin
eventually became a sniper, it was important for him to keep his morality. For his job, he kills
many of his enemies which can be mentally exhausting. On one of his missions, he and his team
had to take over a ship. Luckily for the prisoners, he and his team did not kill anyone although they
wanted to. He knew that they did not do anything directly towards him so there was no reason to
kill anyone. Wasdin first realized the importance of morality when he killed someone. I realized it s
more important to understand that our enemies are human. (143). This statement alone shows the
maturity he had when it comes to war. Morality is one of the many things he learned over the

Technology is the use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes or applications, especially in

The Causes Of Computer Threats
Have you ever wondered about today s ongoing problem with computer based threats? There are
many online complications today with these new generations forming. Computer viruses, malware,
identity theft, online predators, cyber bullying, phishing, and hacking (black hat and white hat) are
only a few problems going on online, yet they cause so many problems and threats.
To begin with, computer viruses are types of malicious software programs that replicate themselves
by changing other computer programs and inserting their own code. This all happens when they get
executed. This takes place when computers become infected with the virus, there are many reasons
to why computers can become infected. Accepting without reading is by far the most common way
a computer can become infected. This happens when a user just automatically accepts what they see
on their screen without reading the prompt before continuing. For example, while on the internet an
advertisement or a window may appear that says your computer is infected, without completely
understanding what you re getting, you accept the prompt anyways. Another reason to why your
computer may become infected is by downloading any infected software. When downloading
software such as programs, utilities, games, updates, demos, etc. always make sure you are
downloading this software from reliable sources. Always read all prompts about what the program
is installing onto your computer. Opening e mail attachments can cause your

Simone De Beauvoir Female Circumcision
Female Genital Cutting and Western Influence Female Genital Mutilation is practiced in parts of
Africa, Asia, and the Middle East as a way for girls to be inducted into womanhood. This medical
procedure is extremely controversial for it goes against many westernized feminist ideologies.
Though seemingly hurtful and damaging towards the women in these cultures, there are still large
amounts of girls who willingly chose to have this done to them. This conflict of opinions of what
is right and what is wrong to do to women s genitalia has been contested for a long time, and the
answer to this question has not been solved. For one, the answer of what is moral in this situation

Feminists such as Simone de Beauvoir who states in The Second Sex, that women are
considered the other to men. De Beauvoir notices how men have been constituted as the positive
and neutral in many societies, which leaves women to be the subordinate nothing. She states,
She is simply what man decrees; thus she is called the sex , by which is meant that she appears
essentially to the male as a sexual being (De Beauvoir 3). This is how many feminists view
female circumcision, which entails three different types of surgeries. The first, clitoridectomy, is
the cutting off of the clitoris; excision is the removal of both the clitoris and the inner labia;
while infibulation, is the removal of both the inner and outer labia usually along with the clitoris
(www.who.int). It is clear that some form of sexual repression and patriarchy is opposed upon
women when they chose to undergo anyone of these types of procedures. However, with the idea
that this is done to women to suppress their sexual desires, then why are so millions of women
still choosing to have it done to them? It is clear that the tradition may impose itself upon them,
but they still have a chose of whether or not to have their vaginas reconstructed. The idea is that
many women in such cultures that have the option of having this surgery done to them do not see
it as oppressive; instead they see it as empowering. What we might find to be oppressive in nature
may have a completely different meaning to a culture different then ours. This is what I wish to
emphasize, that though it may be difficult to separate ourselves from our opinions, we do not give
a chance to allow these women who undergo these surgeries to express

When we are caring for HIV patients in the community we as the nurse need to be able to
identify the mode of transmission of the disease. The agent would be what causes the infection
of HIV. HIV is a virus so therefore the virus itself would be the agent. A virus may have a spiny
outside layer, called the envelope. Viruses have a core of genetic material, but no way to
reproduce it on their own. Viruses infect cells and take over their reproductive machinery to
reproduce (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2012). The host would be the
person who became infected with the disease. These patients have come into contact with someone
who was infected with disease already. This could have been due to cross contamination of blood,
sharing needles during drug use, vaginally delivery of a baby, or it could have even been
through a blood transfusion; which is very, very rare. Environmental factors would include the
surroundings or conditions outside of the host that cause or allow the disease to be spread. This
would be any household that participates in the use of illicit drugs such as heroin. Anyone who is
in this type of environment is at risk due to old needles laying around, actually partaking in the use

The cloister stood in the heart of a medieval abbey or monetary. The example that I saw was based
on the elements of the cloister located at Abbey of Saint Genis des Fontaines in the Roussillon, a
mountainous region in Southwestern France that was fought over by Christians and Muslims for
centuries . The cloister was the center of the abbey; which connected the living quarters to the
church.
I also observed many paintings in this gallery. One painting that caught my eye was titled, The
Mocking of Christ by Hieronymus Bosch. It was an early 16th century, oil on wood painting.
Christ was seen in the upper right next to Pilate and was surrounded by figured who looked more
like friends than enemies that would crucify him. These so called friends of Christ were holding
weapons and wearing bizarre headgear. In the painting, Jesus had a saddened look on his face
while the others looked jollier. Another painting that I observed was a painting by Defendate
Ferrari which showed the enthroned Virgin Mary breastfeeding the baby Jesus with Saint John the
Evangelist, Catherine of Alexandra, Anthony Abbot, and a saint reading a book. I was attracted
to this painting because I would never have thought to have seen a picture of Mary feeding Jesus
in that way. This painting was originally an oil and gold on wood and was transferred to canvas.

Growing Up In The Rain Quotes With Page Numbers
1.) Fact then: Somehow, my travels crossed time as well as distance. Another fact: The boy was
the focus of my travels perhaps the cause of them. Pg.24
This quote is very important when pertaining to the setting of the story. The main character, Dana,
finds herself traveling to another dimension. The quote shows Dana s realization that she is
traveling from a California home in 1976 to Maryland plantation pre Civil War. The setting is
finally determined to the reader, as well. Letting the reader know she is switching between two
different time periods.
2.) You did almost come home. Your fear almost sent you home. Pg. 50

Don t tell them no. Don t let them see you mad. Just say yes, sir. Then go head and do what you

Luke advises his son, Nigel, about how to interact with white people. Luke does his work in a
satisfactory fashion and keeps others in line. This is inspiring to Dana because he shows her
how to hide her inner rebellion with a calm, humble approach. Luke eventually is sold for
carrying himself like a white man . This shows that slaves behavior is mostly irrelevant and they
are just sold for no reason or put up for any crime possible. They are just portrayed as something
to be made a profit. This quote shows the importance of the plot as the way slaves were portrayed
and treated.
4.) I could recall walking along the narrow dirt road that ran past the Weylin house and seeing the
house, shadowy in twilight, boxy and familiar . . . I could recall feeling relief at seeing the house,
feeling that I had come home. And having to stop and correct myself, remind myself that I was in
an alien, dangerous place. Pg.

In This Experiment, Kay Deaux And Tim Emswiller Are Testing
In this experiment, Kay Deaux and Tim Emswiller are testing and analyzing the attributions made
to luck versus skill in explaining the performance of a stimulus person. They hypothesized that
when people are asked to evaluate the performance of a male or a female on either a male or
female related task, where they both perform equally well on both tasks, the males performance will
be attributed to skill, while the females performance will be attributed to luck. On the other hand,
when it s a female related task, the female s performance will be more strongly attributed to skill
and the male s performance will be more strongly attributed to luck. Previous investigations of male
and female performance in equivalent situations has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test taking partners were previously taped recordings by either a male or female answering
the discrimination questions. The subjects were told that the test taker would be shown a series
of pictures on a video of familiar objects embedded in a camouflaged background. Each picture
was shown for approximately one second and the test taker would then have to make a true or
false response determining whether the object seen on screen was the same as the one listed. The
subjects would hear the question number and the true or false response of the test taker. The
subjects were given mimeographed answer forms that were assumed to match the ones in front of
the test takers. The subjects answer forms contained the correct answers so that they could keep
track of the test takers scores. There were two tasks consisting of twenty five questions each. The
first consisted of household objects and was female oriented. The second consisted of mechanical
objects and was male oriented. There was only one task completed during each experimental
session chosen by the experimenter. The instructions given to each subject emphasized that a
person s performance is influenced by factors such as luck, ability, and effort. These factors were
told to be kept in mind as well as the tone and hesitation in the test takers voice.
In each case the test takers answered 16 of the 25 questions correctly, while the norm was told to

Prevent-Teach-Reinforce Model
While completing the Prevent Teach Reinforce (PTR) model on my selected student, I was able to
comprehend the student aggression through his oppositional defiant disorder while being told what
to do especially in a classroom instruction environment. The student display negative interaction
with his teacher and peers when he was prompted to complete an assignment along with display
physical aggression toward a student he believes is receiving more attention. Through the PTR

Brand Loyalty Case Study
4. Brand Loyalty: Aaker (1996) defined brand loyalty as the attachment of a customer to a brand.
According to the attitudinal perspective, brand loyalty is defined as a deeply held commitment to
re buy a preferred product or service consistently in the future despite situational influences and
marketing efforts having potential to cause switching behavior (Oliver, 1997).From the behavioral
perspective Odin, Odin and Valette Florence (2001) suggested that the customer who buys the brand
systematically is considered loyal to this brand. Authors may differ in defining the brand loyalty
but they all agree on the importance of focusing on loyal customers and trying to increase their
number and their loyalty. Managers know that loyal customers do buy more with willingness to
spend more, are easier to reach and act as an advocate for the brands firms (Chaudhuri and
Holbrook, 2001; Odin, et al., 2001; Oliver, 1997).

to the degree of satisfaction or dissatisfaction of the consumer with the product/brand, and this

the area would have been extremely hard to work in, being an American, with the Taliban on the
rise and the chaos in the Middle East starting. Americans, also, weren t very supportive of the

would have to adjust to the culture, build a building capable of withstanding the climate and to be

Star Formation Research Paper
Stars
Introduction
Those stars in the night sky seem small and tiny, but up close they would be millions of times
larger than the Earth. Stars are the most recognized astronomical objects and are the building
blocks of the galaxies. These luminous spheres made of plasma are responsible for the creation of
heavy elements like carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. They were among the first objects in the early
universe. Most of the elements found in the human body originated in stars, this means that we
are literally made of stardust. When you are staring at stars from the night sky, you are actually
looking back in time, the light you see could be from a million years ago. The study of the birth,
life and death of stars are the central field of astronomy today.

Well, the collision of 2 black holes as never been observed hear on Earth. The galaxy NGC 6240 is
a super galaxy formed by the collision of 2 smaller galaxies. Since every galaxy has a
supermassive black hole at the center of it, the NGC 6240 galaxy has 2 black holes at the center.
Scientists are predicting that someday these two black holes would collide. There are two
different outcomes of 2 black holes colliding. The first one is that if the 2 black holes are
spinning at very high speeds and come together at just the right angle, the smaller black hole will
be slingshotted away from the bigger black hole and sent hurtling through space. The second,
more likely outcome is that they will slowly come closer and closer together until they can t
escape each others gravity and eventually become one, when this happens the resulting black hole
is known as a Binary Black Hole. The energy emitted from the collision would be so great it
would send ripples through the space time fabric of the Universe. These ripples are known as
Gravitational

Information Security Management And Maintenance
ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which
had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced
the likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the
attack. These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security
management and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of
being addressed, based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears
that it was still in many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there
had been more time available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues
regarding the OPM and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues
show a lack of Information Securitymanagement and maintenance. This is made clear in an article
by ABC News that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the
inspector general s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM
chief angry over hack, 2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented
by the OPM, and the appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the
recommendations as well as implement and maintain. Accountability should be put in place for the
OPM management and the security and

Wild Prairie Fires Research
Upon reviewing how frequently historical wildfires have burned near my home (Fire Regime
2017) I had found that my home area fell between the fire regime group 1 and 2. These regimes
have a 0 35 year frequency of wildfires occurring with surface fires being the most common. This
is due to the fact that the area around my home is made up of mainly 20% herb and tree cover.
Most of the wildfire in my area are made up of prairie fires which have an important role in
healthy ecosystems near me. Wild prairie fires can introduce some benefit for the prairie
ecosystems near my home. To start wild prairie fires can help decrease the invasion of trees from
the edges to the prairie ecosystem. This allows small prairie plants to gain the sun needed to

Immanuel Kant And Kant s Philosophy Essay
Immanuel Kant in his work An answer to the Question: What is Enlightenment? reflects his
understanding of immaturity as the main source for not being enlighten(p.41). It is true that Kant
animalized human beings , It is so easy to be immature is best understood as an attack towards
human beings because of our naivetГ©. It is only normal for us to apprehend knowledge from
others. Immanuel Kantemphasizes on the lack of self esteem, caring, and trustworthiness in
ourselves. The lack of zeal to discover what is good for thyself and what is not. An immature
person has always been known as somebody who cannot take care of himself. The immature will
never seek to understand on his own but borrow ideologies from others. According to Kant
immaturity is the inability to use one s understanding without guidance from another (WE p.41).
Assuredly, we can see throughout the text that Kant is not stressing on an age or period in our
lives to be able to eventually be matured enough to takes grown up affairs into consideration and
become mature. What he really means is that we must learn how to be dependent by ourselves,
Kant states for after falling a few times they would end. certainly learn to walk ( WE p.41).
However, the claim that Kant mentioned does not mean that we must learn how to become
geniuses by our own instinct, this would be quite a ludicrous claim to state, but he is trying to
emphasize on the fact that we take too much time to do so after we have the means and

Genetic Modification ( Gm )
Genetic modification (GM) is the use of modern biotechnology techniques to change the genes
of an organism such as plants or animals. No one is permitted to deal with a genetically modified
organism (GMO) in Australia unless the Australian Gene Technology Regulator has determined
that the GMO is safe to human health and the surrounding environment. As the world s
population continues to increase and is expected to double within the next few years, the world
s demand for food and fibre has increased drastically. GM foods and fibres seem to be the only
means for a solution to provide for the high demand in which we now face. (Agric.wa.gov.au,
2014) Many foods in Australia contain GMO s including Cereals, non organic dairy products,
papayas, bread, rice, potatoes, corn and many more. Genetic modification of foods and fibres
includes inserting genes from one organism into another. The purpose of this is to modify the
genetic code in animals and plants to make them resistant to pests or farming techniques such as
being soaked with chemicals that would normally kill them or even just to make the plants and
animals more productive. (Leigh Erin Connealy, 2013) If an organism is genetically modified it
can be breed or crossed with another organism whether it s GM or non GM. Reproduction
techniques such as cloning which is done through asexual reproduction or selective breeding and
hybrids can be used to breed the genetic modification from the parents into the offspring either

  • 2. Sojourner Truth s Shadow Sojourner Truth was born Isabella Baumfree in 1797 as one of 12 children to enslaved parents James and Elizabeth Baumfree. As a young girl Isabella was often traded between owners who could at times be cruel and harsh towards her. In 1815 at around the age of 18 Isabella married a man by the name of Thomas who was also a slave and together they had five children. In 1827 a year before the emancipation act of 1828 that would free all slaves in the state of New York, Isabella ran away leaving behind her husband and children only carrying her infant daughter, Sophia. She had a feeling that her master intended on going back on his word to grant her her freedom. Isabella found solace with a couple by the name of Van Wagener, Isaac Van Wagener a ... • 3. Ftir History History of the FTIR The FTIR came from the IR (infrared) spectrum that was found in the 1800s. IR spectrum was discovered by Sir William Herschel. A scientist named Peter Fellget had obtained the first IR spectrum by using the FTIR in 1949. The FTIR stands for Fourier Transfrom Infrared Spectroscopy. More FTIRs were being used by the 1960s. When matter and energy interact it produces wavelengths that can be seen by the FTIR. Basically, all FT are waveforms that are just the sum of simply sinusoids of different frequencies. It uses a mathematical tool that show how to deconstruct the waveform of the sinusoid components. The FTIR analyzes the absorption of certain wavelengths by a solid or liquid sample. • 5. Central Bank s Influence On The Market In The National... Define the role of the Central Bank and its influence on the market in the national economy. Monetary policy is the process of supplying nominal money, look after the availability of money and cost of interest rate, which is controlled by the government or central bank, can be rather an expansionary policy, or a contractionary policy. The expansionary policy is adopted to increase the whole amount of supply of money in the economy, and a contractionary policy is used to decrease the whole amount of nominal money supply. The central bank or government usually use the expansionary policy to fight against unemployment in a recession, where they lower the interest rate, so investment can grow. On the other hand the contractionary policy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The raising of government spending is done by purpose, the state wants people to consume and invest more so the economy will grow faster. But the raising of interest rate is unexpected and not wished to be the perfect result of tax cuts, because higher the interest rate, lower the investment rate, and this has a negative effect on the economy. The Central banks can create money in three different ways, the first is money creation, producing a new monetary unit, and this is the case when older currencies need to be changed because they can t be used anymore. Another example is when a new EU member adopts Euros instead of their old currency. The second is credit creation, where Banks are lending money to other banks, the clue is that they are not dealing with money as cash but they use virtual money. The third is electronic creation which is the process of buying government bonds or other financial scriptures by central bank through Open market operations. The primary objective of the European Central Bank is to maintain price stability within the Euro zone, or in other words to keep inflation low. The ECB aims at inflation rates of below, but close to, 2% over the medium term. It s obvious that inflation can influence the savings and that s why also investment, when the price of goods are rising and peoples income stayed the same so consumers have less money to save. • 7. Section 59 of the Crimes Act and a Parent s Right to... The change to Section 59 of the Crimes Act compromises a parent s right to discipline their child. Parents are in a position of authority in which they are responsible for shaping their children into respectful, law abiding citizens, and often a light smack to the hand or bottom is an effective way of teaching the right attitude and behaviour. If a child displays behaviour that goes against what their parents are teaching them, a light smack is often necessary in letting the child know what they are doing is wrong. Changing the Crimes Act will not stop serious physical abuse from happening to children. Research carried out in Christchurch has suggested that serious offences of child abuse occur as a result of parental personal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michele Wilkinson Smith (2007), a criminal lawyer who has argued on both sides of Section 59 in court deems the repeal unnecessary. In her own experience she has never seen a case where a child has been seriously abused go excused because of the reasonable force defence and it is likely that no New Zealand jury would find such serious abuse to be perfectly reasonable. It is unrealistic to assume a person who has seriously harmed a child will go unpunished, however parents who lightly smack will face serious consequences. Joanne Black (2007) agrees, saying the only effect of this change is that a parent who smacks a child in order to improve his or her behaviour breaks the law (p. 58). Light smacking to improve a child s behaviour is at the discretion of the parent, who is aiming to better their child, not seriously harm them. Naturally, the change to Section 59 does have a positive side, providing a step toward New Zealand becoming a less violent society. Removing the reasonable force defence gives parents the opportunity to think twice about the practices they use in correcting their child s behaviour, opting to not use a physical method. Children of this abuse are also less likely to go out and commit violent crimes as a result of the way they were brought up. In the long run, this change could alter the way parents treat their children, and therefore, cutting back on crime (Else, 2007). However, this is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many women and men often find themselves obsessed with comparison to others. People often look at themselves in the mirror and think that they are not good enough, and that they are not pretty or skinny. Social media plays a huge role in this. Young women and girls spend so much time on social media and this is all they see. It is no wonder that their self esteem is so low. Both of which will have a negative effect on your self improvement in the long run (Selvam). He has created hundreds of works, and many of his plays have found a place in classrooms around the world. Shakespeare has written many famous plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. With all these plays one character type has appeared repeatedly throughout his work, a character that spurs on trouble and usually exhibits antagonistic actions while on stage. Revenge is often a double edged sword, fulfilling the ambitions of those brash enough to wield it at the cost of whatever the user holds dear. The core lesson Shakespeare was teaching his audience was to have faith in those closest to them, to give them the benefit of any doubt and to never allow your anger to determine your choices. Iago was consumed with his anger at the mention of rumors about Othello and his wife, and his dissatisfaction with Cassio s promotion. The news is something that so many people rely on and check constantly. What people aren t aware of however, is that so much of what they are being told is a lie. False newsis a growing and constant issue in today s society. Fake news spreads rapidly, changing people s views on the world constantly. Most of this has to do with the fact that fake news is biased. People like and share the information that aligns or confirms their beliefs and disregard the information that does not. According to a recent analysis, information can bring people together or drive them apart... Fake news is divisive . On the other hand, real news brings the people who agree even closer and persuades the ones who do not. With fake news ruining the flow of this common ground, people have become more and more divided on certain topics (Donath). One important aspect of society that has been completely bombarded with false information is the Presidential Election. In fact, as election day got closer and closer, the most popular stories were derived from false information (Obama). That is a big problem because as voters were trying to make an educated decision on who to vote for, they were being told information that was not even true. Some people say that fake news could have even altered the election results. But why are people believing all this? In order for a piece of information to change someone s opinion on something, they obviously have to truly believe and buy into that information. False news sources have been working to develop ways to get people to think what they are saying is true. One way to do this is by confusing the viewer just enough to not know what is true. Another way is by making their sites look extremely professional and falsely crediting information to trustworthy places ( Fake News and the Internet Shell Game ). • 14. Standardized Test And Measure A Student s Scholastic... A standardized test: an exam to measure a student s scholastic performance. Though this definition holds merit in its general meaning, it does not take into account whether the exam is unbiased, fair, or accurate. Mainly, in part, due to the questions presented in the exam, as well as the fact that the questions and answers to the testare made by subjective human beings, certain biases can be seen in a standardized test. These biases include the favoring of the dominant culture, people of a certain English dialect, along with students who come from a functional academic curriculum. The inaccuracy of the test can also be seen since the assessments provided in the test do not capture the full extent of what students know and can do. Consequently, when looking into the issue of whether standardized testing is a fair assessment of one s overall knowledge or achievement in one s educational career, one ought ask whether the use of standardized testing for the assessment of a future college student s mental capabilities the ideal form of showing a student s true potential in both academic and real life settings? One should also question whether standardized testing has grounds to determine whether a person is qualified for higher educational opportunities. In addition, for many years, standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT have been known for their ability to measure and assess how well a student will do in his or her college life; however, in recent years, studies ... Urban guerillas have to rely heavily on support from the citizens. Guerilla warfare basically relies on one standard. The element of surprise. Often, guerillas will not be in uniform and carry just a concealed weapon. By doing this it helps the guerillas startle the enemy and catch them off guard, giving them the clear cut advantage. Also, the enemy is always in a state of fear, never knowing when or where these guerillas could pop out and attack. They are constantly on watch and they tire easily. By using guerilla warfare, forces are able to lower they re casualties while increasing their opponents, even if they are winning cheap. Because they often time use cowardly tactics, guerillas are usually considered terrorists by their opponents. Sometimes however, this can be true. Guerillas in some cases have used propaganda, or started revolts to win over their cause. Instead of trying to defeat their enemy, they try to create chaos, hoping to drive their enemy out. Massive riots and sabotage are not at all uncommon in guerilla wars. All in all, guerilla warfare is the use of unconventional war tactics used against enemies that follow these conventional laws. I made my slave, Eliza Hopewell, carry the secret messages to confederate soldiers in a hollowed out watchcase. Then one warm May evening in 1862, a Union troop gathered in my local hotel. I hid upstairs, eavesdropping through a hole on the floorboards. It was exciting to hear secrets poured out, and the adrenaline pumped through my blood. I rode out acting and bluffing my way past the Union sentries and conveyed my information, which allowed Jackson?s army to win a battle. I braved enemy fire that put holes in my skirt. First, the word privacy is defined in numerous ways from an individual or business perspective. Based on these different views of privacy, this can impact operations or people s life. According to McCreary, that growth rate reflects more than just a greater appreciation of privacy protection as a business responsibility (McCreary pg.5, 2008). The rise of these executive positions and organizations is due to privacy regulations that impact businesses. With privacy laws, businesses can collect people s personal information, analyze it, but the business has to be within reason. Before these privacy laws, business were able to collect all the information that the company can access and use that information to their advantage. If the information leaked out or was stolen, the business did not have to disclose the issue with the public or even the company s customers. Now, businesses have to release to the public on any breaches of security such as their privacy. When California passed legislation in 2003, companies were obligated to alert them to a breach at the earliest reasonable moment after it was discovered (McCreary pg.6, 2008). After this regulation was passed, other states began to adopt their own mandates of security to protect individual s privacy. Ultimately, this changed how business analyzed their risk equation. Feminists such as Simone de Beauvoir who states in The Second Sex, that women are considered the other to men. De Beauvoir notices how men have been constituted as the positive and neutral in many societies, which leaves women to be the subordinate nothing. She states, She is simply what man decrees; thus she is called the sex , by which is meant that she appears essentially to the male as a sexual being (De Beauvoir 3). This is how many feminists view female circumcision, which entails three different types of surgeries. The first, clitoridectomy, is the cutting off of the clitoris; excision is the removal of both the clitoris and the inner labia; while infibulation, is the removal of both the inner and outer labia usually along with the clitoris (www.who.int). It is clear that some form of sexual repression and patriarchy is opposed upon women when they chose to undergo anyone of these types of procedures. However, with the idea that this is done to women to suppress their sexual desires, then why are so millions of women still choosing to have it done to them? It is clear that the tradition may impose itself upon them, but they still have a chose of whether or not to have their vaginas reconstructed. The idea is that many women in such cultures that have the option of having this surgery done to them do not see it as oppressive; instead they see it as empowering. What we might find to be oppressive in nature may have a completely different meaning to a culture different then ours. This is what I wish to emphasize, that though it may be difficult to separate ourselves from our opinions, we do not give a chance to allow these women who undergo these surgeries to express ... Initially the source of input for the application is Twitter tweets which are collected using Twitter API. The Twitter API is designed by Twitter which is made available to all registered Twitter Developers which runs on the Twitter Server. Input for the search term is provided by a Web Application User Interface designed for the user to input a product name on which the sentiment analysis is to be performed. This search term then acts as an input query for collecting tweets related to the product. Once when the user inputs the search term on the web application, the browser makes an Ajax call to the web application server with search term as an input to initiate the... It uses Ruby on Rails web application framework which is a open source software. It is model view controller framework and has a controller component which responds to external requests from the web server to the web application and determines which view to be rendered for a particular action. The controller is responsible for a particular action to be performed when is called and routed through the framework. In this project the algorithm resides inside a controller class called home and it renders a index view. The home class in this project invokes all the required libraries as gems and the Twitter API too. Figure 3.3 demonstrates the individual components in the Ruby on Rails framework. This project provides storage of processed tweets and all tweets collected by the Tweeter API. HIV is growing concern in the community and too many people are uneducated about the seriousness of this disease. HIV is terminal illness; it will eventually consume your life at some point. There are treatment options out there but being compliant with the medication regimen is crucial to the maintenance and management of this disease. HIV also known as the Human Immunodeficiency Virus; with HIV the virus replicates and attacks our immune system causing it to go haywire. With the suppression of our immune systems it puts people with HIV at a bigger risk for infection and other common illnesses. People with HIV the common cold can be very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we are caring for HIV patients in the community we as the nurse need to be able to identify the mode of transmission of the disease. The agent would be what causes the infection of HIV. HIV is a virus so therefore the virus itself would be the agent. A virus may have a spiny outside layer, called the envelope. Viruses have a core of genetic material, but no way to reproduce it on their own. Viruses infect cells and take over their reproductive machinery to reproduce (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2012). The host would be the person who became infected with the disease. These patients have come into contact with someone who was infected with disease already. This could have been due to cross contamination of blood, sharing needles during drug use, vaginally delivery of a baby, or it could have even been through a blood transfusion; which is very, very rare. Environmental factors would include the surroundings or conditions outside of the host that cause or allow the disease to be spread. This would be any household that participates in the use of illicit drugs such as heroin. Anyone who is in this type of environment is at risk due to old needles laying around, actually partaking in the use of the drugs, or sharing needles with other people. Also an environment that would put someone at risk would be a hospital setting. It is very possible for nurses especially to accidentally stick themselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was a series of paintings, sculptures, architecture, and tapestry of the Medieval and Early Renaissance as well as objects from the Middle East. This exhibit was an important part of the history of the Philadelphia Museum of Art because for the first time, Italian, Spanish, and Northern European paintings from the John G. Johnson collection were shown. It gave me a good idea of what the paintings were like in these four centuries and reflected ideas of both the east and the west. The example that I saw was based on the elements of the cloister located at Abbey of Saint Genis des Fontaines in the Roussillon, a mountainous region in Southwestern France that was fought over by Christians and Muslims for centuries . The cloister was the center of the abbey; which connected the living quarters to the church. I also observed many paintings in this gallery. One painting that caught my eye was titled, The Mocking of Christ by Hieronymus Bosch. It was an early 16th century, oil on wood painting. Christ was seen in the upper right next to Pilate and was surrounded by figured who looked more like friends than enemies that would crucify him. These so called friends of Christ were holding weapons and wearing bizarre headgear. In the painting, Jesus had a saddened look on his face while the others looked jollier. Another painting that I observed was a painting by Defendate Ferrari which showed the enthroned Virgin Mary breastfeeding the baby Jesus with Saint John the Evangelist, Catherine of Alexandra, Anthony Abbot, and a saint reading a book. I was attracted to this painting because I would never have thought to have seen a picture of Mary feeding Jesus in that way. Luke does his work in a satisfactory fashion and keeps others in line. This is inspiring to Dana because he shows her how to hide her inner rebellion with a calm, humble approach. They are just portrayed as something to be made a profit. This quote shows the importance of the plot as the way slaves were portrayed and treated. 4.) According to the attitudinal perspective, brand loyalty is defined as a deeply held commitment to re buy a preferred product or service consistently in the future despite situational influences and marketing efforts having potential to cause switching behavior (Oliver, 1997).From the behavioral perspective Odin, Odin and Valette Florence (2001) suggested that the customer who buys the brand systematically is considered loyal to this brand. Authors may differ in defining the brand loyalty but they all agree on the importance of focusing on loyal customers and trying to increase their number and their loyalty. Managers know that loyal customers do buy more with willingness to spend more, are easier to reach and act as an advocate for the brands firms (Chaudhuri and Holbrook, 2001; Odin, et al., 2001; Oliver, 1997). Stars are the most recognized astronomical objects and are the building blocks of the galaxies. These luminous spheres made of plasma are responsible for the creation of heavy elements like carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. They were among the first objects in the early universe. Most of the elements found in the human body originated in stars, this means that we are literally made of stardust. When you are staring at stars from the night sky, you are actually looking back in time, the light you see could be from a million years ago. The study of the birth, life and death of stars are the central field of astronomy today. Star Formations Stars do not form out of nowhere and just pop into appearance in space. The galaxy NGC 6240 is a super galaxy formed by the collision of 2 smaller galaxies. There are two different outcomes of 2 black holes colliding. The first one is that if the 2 black holes are spinning at very high speeds and come together at just the right angle, the smaller black hole will be slingshotted away from the bigger black hole and sent hurtling through space. The second, more likely outcome is that they will slowly come closer and closer together until they can t escape each others gravity and eventually become one, when this happens the resulting black hole is known as a Binary Black Hole. Information Security Management And Maintenance ASSESSMENT OF BREACH There were a number of factors that contributed to the breach, which had they been addressed or had corresponding mitigation responses in place, would have reduced the likelihood that the breach would have taken place, or at a minimum reduce the impact of the attack. These items range from policy related issues, technology implementations, and security management and maintenance. Although I believe a number of these areas were in the process of being addressed, based on the information gathered regarding the details of the incident, it appears that it was still in many areas insufficient and would not have prevented an incident even if there had been more time available to perform the implementations. To start, there were significant issues regarding the OPM and its solutions to deficiencies found during their regular audits. These issues show a lack of Information Securitymanagement and maintenance. This is made clear in an article by ABC News that at the time of the Senate hearings regarding the OPM breach, Only a few of the inspector general s 29 recommendations for improvement have since been implemented ( OPM chief angry over hack, 2015). Proper management of security audit findings must be implemented by the OPM, and the appropriate resources should be put in place to plan how to implement the recommendations as well as implement and maintain. • 50. Immanuel Kant And Kant s Philosophy Essay Immanuel Kant in his work An answer to the Question: What is Enlightenment? reflects his understanding of immaturity as the main source for not being enlighten(p.41). It is true that Kant animalized human beings , It is so easy to be immature is best understood as an attack towards human beings because of our naivetГ©. It is only normal for us to apprehend knowledge from others. Immanuel Kantemphasizes on the lack of self esteem, caring, and trustworthiness in ourselves. The lack of zeal to discover what is good for thyself and what is not. An immature person has always been known as somebody who cannot take care of himself. The immature will never seek to understand on his own but borrow ideologies from others. According to Kant immaturity is the inability to use one s understanding without guidance from another (WE p.41). Assuredly, we can see throughout the text that Kant is not stressing on an age or period in our lives to be able to eventually be matured enough to takes grown up affairs into consideration and become mature. What he really means is that we must learn how to be dependent by ourselves, Kant states for after falling a few times they would end. certainly learn to walk ( WE p.41). However, the claim that Kant mentioned does not mean that we must learn how to become geniuses by our own instinct, this would be quite a ludicrous claim to state, but he is trying to emphasize on the fact that we take too much time to do so after we have the means and ... • 51. Genetic Modification ( Gm ) Genetic modification (GM) is the use of modern biotechnology techniques to change the genes of an organism such as plants or animals. No one is permitted to deal with a genetically modified organism (GMO) in Australia unless the Australian Gene Technology Regulator has determined that the GMO is safe to human health and the surrounding environment. As the world s population continues to increase and is expected to double within the next few years, the world s demand for food and fibre has increased drastically. GM foods and fibres seem to be the only means for a solution to provide for the high demand in which we now face. (Agric.wa.gov.au, 2014) Many foods in Australia contain GMO s including Cereals, non organic dairy products, papayas, bread, rice, potatoes, corn and many more. Genetic modification of foods and fibres includes inserting genes from one organism into another. The purpose of this is to modify the genetic code in animals and plants to make them resistant to pests or farming techniques such as being soaked with chemicals that would normally kill them or even just to make the plants and animals more productive. (Leigh Erin Connealy, 2013) If an organism is genetically modified it can be breed or crossed with another organism whether it s GM or non GM. Reproduction techniques such as cloning which is done through asexual reproduction or selective breeding and hybrids can be used to breed the genetic modification from the parents into the offspring either ...
