Conformity Quotes In Fahrenheit 451
Don t step on the toes of the dog lovers, the cat lovers, doctors, lawyers, merchants, chiefs, Mormons,
Baptist, Unitarians, second generation Chinese, Swedes, Germans, Texans ,Brooklynites, Irishmen,
people from Oregon, or Mexico. (Bradbury 57). This quote, a statement from Captain Beatty, is an
example of how conformity is a big ideology in the society. His statement proves that they believe
conforming removes conflict. Take away opinions, likes, dislikes, and everyone is happy. Tell the
people how they should feel and what they should believe. Montag s society s idea of a utopia is that
compliance is honing. Mildred backed away as if she were suddenly confronted by a pack of mice that
had come out of the floor. (Bradbury 66). In this quote, Bradbury describes Mildred s reaction to being
presented books by Montag. An example of complying to the law. She reacts in fear to illegal objects.
She is unsure of why she s apprehensive of the books, other than that because the society says she
should be. If a book, tradition, or common practice, anything human, doesn t conform to the societal
standards, then it is offensive, therefore in need of being burned, or forgotten. They erase books to
erase the past. Erase tradition. An example to support the previous statement is when Beatty says,
Colored people don t like Little Black Sambo. Burn it. White people don t feel good about Uncle Tom
s Cabin. Burn it. Someone s written a book on tobacco and cancer of the lungs? The

Space Exploration Of Space
Space exploration has brought with it numerous advances and changes to the world. Included in these
changes are the significant impacts to America s cultural landscape. America s cultural perception has
been shaped by fear, patriotism, and a division between the Country. Throughout Margaret Lazarus
Dean s memoir Leaving Orbit, she explored many of these changes as they happened throughout the
almost sixty years that American s, and the world, have been leaving Earth. Dean delves into the
initial launches throughout the 50 s and 60 s, describing both the unease and loyalty to country that
drove space flight forward and allowed for the cultural landscape American s live in today.
One of the first cultural changes that came with the space program occurred before America s first
capsule even left the Earth. The American people s fright over what the Soviets could do with this new
technology of space travel was the driving factor into pushing for space flight. Fear grew
exponentially in the late fifties and early sixties as the first Russian satellites were launched and the
possibilities of what the Soviet Union could do with those capabilities weighed heavily on American
minds. [T]he degree to which Americans were shaken by Sputnik is all but incomprehensible to
people born too late to remember the Cold War... And what was to stop it from raining weapons down
upon Americans from that vantage point... It is fair to say the Sputnik completely changed the way

Food Security Is A Basic Human Right, Essential For Life
Food security is considered as a basic human right, essential for life. It exists when all people, at all
times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary
needs and food preferences for a healthy and active lifestyle [Food Agricultural Organization (FAO),
1996]. Food insecurity can refer to not having sufficient food; experiencing hunger as a result of
running
out of food and being unable to afford more; eating a poor quality diet as a result of limited food
options;
anxiety about acquiring food; or having to rely on food relief (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003).
Although the United States population is considered food secure as a whole, with 85.7% being food
secure (Coleman Jensen, Gregory Singh, 2014), pockets of food insecurity have been identified
among
sub populations such as single parent households (34.4%), people at social or geographical
disadvantage (26%), the homeless and the young (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003; Innes Hughes,
Bowers, King, Chapman, Eden, 2010).
According to National Center for Education Statistics (2013), enrollment of students 18 24 years in
degree granting institutions increased from 15.9 million in 2001 to 21 million in 2011. Many students
live
on low incomes and have unique expenses, such as high tuition, cost of textbooks, healthcare cost and
other instructional expenses such as housing that increase their cost of living relative to other young

Fluoride Mouth Rinses
Focus on Fluorides: Update on the use of Fluoride for the Prevention of Dental Caries This article is
based on the negative and positive impacts of fluoride uses. Topics discussed include: updates on
community water fluoridation, fluoride available in dentifrices, and fluoride varnish, use and
recommendations. Fluoride is the first line of defense, along with education, for preventing caries.
Fluoride is the only compound recognized by the FDA for the prevention of dental caries (Carey,
2014). Fluoride comes primarily from fluoridated community water, toothpastes, and mouth rinses.
The intake of water and processed beverages in the United States provides about 75% of a person s
fluoride intake (Carey, 2014). Community water fluoridation began ... Show more content on

Products that contain sodium fluoride (NaF) as the active ingredient also need to have sufficient
detergent to prevent the fluoride ions from reacting with the silica abrasives forming insoluble
fluorosilicates (Carey, 2014). There is a large effort to develop reliable methods of measurement of
available fluoride. The difficulty in achieving the analytical methods is related to the large variety of
ingredients used in toothpaste products and the different forms of fluoride delivered during tooth
brushing (Carey, 2014). There are three categories of fluoride form toothpaste during tooth brushing:
free ionic fluoride which has the ability to react with tooth structure, interfere with microbial
metabolism, absorb to the oral mucosa, and has anticaries efficacy; profluoride compounds that are
delivered or precipitate in the oral cavity during brushing, release ionic fluoride over time, and
contribute to anticaries efficacy; and unavailable fluoride compounds that do not release fluoride ions,
are either spat out or swallowed, and have no anticaries efficacy (Carey, 2014). Monofluorophosphate
is an example of a profluoride compound that is hydrolyzed to release ionic fluoride through salivary
enzyme action (Carey, 2014). The total and potentially available fluoride can be

Australian Tax Reform
Debt, Death Taxes
16th October 2002 Robert Camilleri
The Conservative government doctrine is essentially defined as the party of tax relief. But now
conservatives have converted themselves into the party of debt retirement. The conservative
government has lost interest in tax cutting and instead wants to devote the surplus tax payments and
asset sales over the next 3 years to paying down the national debt. The Howard Costello government,
seen as militant debt hawks, has announced their goal is to retire the entire national debt by 2005.
Has this government forgotten all of the economic and political lessons of the past 20 years? Take the
American experience of the Reagan Government, they used surpluses to cut marginal tax rates, ...

Parliament will spend the money, because it is in their nature. The debt hawks say, stash the surplus
money away so it s available for a rainy day. The truth is, for parliament; every day is a rainy day. The
Howard government real concern is that if they are sitting on this cash the public will be screaming
out for tax cuts, so repaying debt is a quick an easy way to take the focus off this get rid of the cash.
Tax reform is the smarter strategy rather than reducing the debt burden and it will grow the GDP
faster. A dollar devoted to reducing marginal tax rates or to reducing the tax penalty against saving and
investment will yield a higher return to the Australian economy, and thus to future generations, than a
dollar used for retiring debt
But even if we suspend our disbelief and assume that every surplus penny was used to buy down debt,
the economic benefit would be trivial. The primary argument in favour of debt reduction is that it will
relieve the burden from our children of having to pay off the debt in the future. But as long as we don t
add to the debt over the next decade through a return to deficit spending, the debt burden on the next
generation will fall automatically. It already is happening. Even without a penny of actual debt
retirement, the debt as a share of GDP will fall from 15% of GDP in the early 1990s, using the current
debt levels, to about 8% of GDP now. In

Age Related Dysphonia Case Study
The aging process impacts the vocal mechanism as it does any other system of the body. In one of the
few studies that reviewed vocal disorders in the geriatric population, the incidence of vocal disorders
in people 65 years or older was between 12% and 35%. (Davids, Klein, Johns, 2012). Of that
population, 25% had vocal fold atrophy as the cause of their disorder. (Davids, et al., 2012). A 2006
study conducted on 100 assisted living residents found the incidence of age related dysphonia to be
around 20% (Golub, Chen, Otto, Hapner, Johns, 2006). It further found that the impact of this disorder
had a percieved negative impact on quality of life in 13% of the test poplutation (Golub et al., 2006).

were designed to strengthen and balance the laryngeal musculature and to balance airflow to the
muscular effort. (Stemple, JC., Lee, L., D Amico, B., Pickup, B., 1994). In 2011, Tay et al., (2012)
conducted a study on the efficacy of VFE on 22 members of a community choral. Participants were
between 68 and 83 years of age and divided in to a control and VFE groups evenly. After the 5 week
study was complete, the VFE group had greater MPT that the control group. The VFE group showed
post VFE training decreases in mean jitter, shimmer and nose to harmonics ratio percentages as
evaluated using a series of two way repeated measures analysis of variance (Tay et al, 2012). The

Rhetorical Analysis Of A Computer Science Proposal
The following memorandum contains my rhetorical analysis on a computer science proposal. The
authors John E. Laird and Michael van Lent propose that human level AI researchers use video games
for AI research. Throughout the memorandum I will analyze what audiences the article can reach and
how it can persuade them in a sense. I will also analyze the conventions of the article and where it
seems to lose track of its main objective. As well as analyzing how the document correlates with
ethos, pathos, and logos. Audience AnalysisPrimary Audience: The primary audience of the proposal
is human level AI researchers. These are the main people the authors want reading their proposal. The
proposal does a very good job at stating what the reason for the article is and whom the article is
meant for in their introduction.Secondary Audience: The secondary audience could be the abundant
number of video game companies. Some of these video game developing companies could take
interest into what the authors are proposing AI researchers do. These companies could either lend a
helping hand to AI researchers or use their own resources to make their own AI breakthroughs before
researchers do. External Audience: An example of an external audience could be the players of video
games. The authors brought up many interesting ideas that could attract gamers to join in the push for
AI research using video games. The authors describe how more developed AI in video games creates
different genres. The

Wounded Knee Massacre Analysis
Gabriel Adler Professor DiGiralamo History 1000 Spring 2015 Wounded Knee Massacre Historian
Heather Cox Richardson, provides a comprehensive analysis of an attempt by the government to
annihilate the native Indians. In her book Wounded Knee: Party Politics and the Road to an American
Massacre, she discusses the well calculated assault by the Whites on the Plain Indians. Behind this
move was not the manifestation of destiny but rather politics; politics almost wiped out the natives. To
illustrate the role of politics, this paper discusses the specific role of tariff reforms, farmers alliances,
republicans and democrats, the silverites, the statehood process, and the spoils system. Partisan
politics played a huge role in realizing the massacre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would be a hard story to understand without considering the political factor. The political factor
gives the bridges that join, seemingly independent, incidents into one seamless story. It makes it
possible to see logic in actions which otherwise may seem illogical. One thing that Richardson does
clearly is to show the political pressure that the Republicans were exposed to and therefore the
desperate situation they were in. The author is able to appeal to logo, pathos and ethos, and thus
manages to from a compelling proposition discussing and explaining the events leading up to the
massacre. There is no doubt, readers will not find it hard to align with the deductions arrived at by
Richardson. Her book Wounded Knee is indeed a masterpiece and clearly explains the overriding
political interest that gradually led to the

Allusions In O Brother Where Art Thou
Some movies have strong connections to famous books, epics, or myths. Often times, there will be
many strong allusions to different epics, but there will be few weak allusions. In Joel and Ethan Coen

O brother Where Art Thou has strong allusion with the minor characters of the Odyssey. For example,
in the movie, Everett and his men meet a blind traveler who tells them about their journey ahead. This
shows a strong allusion to The Odyssey as Odysseus and his men meet a blind foreteller named
Tiresias. Tiresias tells them about the different issues occurring at home and how to reach Ithaca.

Odysseus was gone. Once Odysseus came back, he started fighting with the other suitors.

river and felt like he was relieved when he dipped his head. Everett, however, forced Delmar to get
out of the water and continue their journey. This shows an allusion to The Odyssey, as Odysseus had
to force his men away from the Lotus eaters. Some of his men ate lotus, which made them relieved of

Essay about British Romanticism
Even today, man finds himself asking, What is beautiful? Many would point to nature when prompted
with such a question; however, few realize that a similar question was posed and a similar answer
given back in Romantic Great Britain, but to a whole new degree. British Romanticism was a reaction
against technology as well as a cry to turn back to the beauty of nature, and its advocating troops held
no more than a pen and paper in hand (Lorcher). Authors of the Romantic era used literature to open
the eyes of a society bogged down by the chaos and clutter of everyday life, and the ideas that they
promoted still affect man to this very day. The Romantic Movement spans approximately from 1783
to 1832 (Bernbaum). This was a time of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
a change from a mechanical conception of the world to an enthusiastic religion of nature, from rational
virtue to emotional sensibility, from ... egoism to humanitarian benevolence, from realism to
optimism, from acceptance of things as they are to faith in progress, from contentment with urban
civilization to sentimental primitivism. (Bush 43) Romantics protested strongly to the contemporary
evils of their time, such as poverty and warfare (Bernbaum xxvii). They believed that such atrocities
existed because there were still men in the world motivated by greed and pride. But they did not let
this knowledge force them into a state of despondency; instead, they looked forward to the future,
when such things might improve (Bernbaum). Romantics hoped that one day man s imagination
would awaken and life could be what it was meant to be: free, natural, beautiful, and humane
(Bernbaum xxvii). This desire for a natural life came from the Romantic s love and admiration of
nature. To him, nature was emotionally expressive and the only real source of peace (Lorcher).
Romantics discovered truth, virtue, and beauty not by routine examination, but by moments of
inspiration in which they could see something for what it truly was (Bernbaum). They did not
experience such inspiration by focusing on the exterior, the everyday affairs of mundane life; instead,
they focused on the interior (Bernbaum). This is why man s imagination

Gad s Psychodynamic Approach

Child Poverty
In the United States, child poverty has been a severe issue even when the country was established.
When looking at the statistics of child poverty from the past, it is clear that there was an increasing
number of families and children living in poverty. This trend dates back to the year 2000 when 11.6
million people were living in poverty. In 2007, the number of individuals suffering from poverty rose
to 13.4 million, (Arrighi Maume, 2007). This is due to the massive economic fallout, also known as
the Great Recession. The United States lost over 7.5 million jobs and the unemployment rate doubled,
which directly impacted parents and their children, (Grusky etc., 2011). This crisis resulted in leaving
many Americans financially insecure. Even though many of the financially stable individuals suffered
a great loss, they were able to utilize their resources to navigate through the calamity and recover
whereas those who were poor faced an economic issue with greater impact. They were faced with
foreclosures, bankruptcies and mortgage felonies. Most importantly, the lives of the young children
were negatively impacted as well. The four areas that the children were affected by from the Great
Recession were: health, hunger, housing, abuse and neglect, (Wiltz 2015). In several households, there
was at least one member that suffered from malnourishment because of the inadequate food supply for
the family. On the other hand, numerous children were left to be homeless because of

Benefits Of Tryouts
For hundreds of years sports have been used as a way for kids and adults to cope with stress but now
with all these talented players it s no longer fair for the talented players to play with the terrible
players so in order to keep the talented players happy they created tryouts. Tryouts are a kind of
physical test that are used to determine what players are talented and deserve a spot on the team and
what players aren t very good and shouldn t be playing with good players. Tryouts are beneficial for
both players and schools because it allows poor schools to play and it reduces the number of players

Did the revitalization of Sundance Square influence and creation of Bass Hall benefit the popularity of
art in Fort Worth?
April 9th, 2015
Abstract As there is not a whole lot known about the revitalization of Fort Worth Texas, so it is
important to draw attention to the transformation of the city hiding in Texas from the beginning of
Revitalization in 1979 to the end of it in 2011. Fort Worth was in economic disorder after WWII and it
was seen through the crumbling state of the city... people moved from cities into suburbs and these
people began shopping at strip malls rather than downtown centers. (Bernard,1). This severely
affected Fort Worth s economy but this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To make Fort Worth a major center in the metropolis as it was before, and not just a part of it as the
city had become, the Bass Brothers Enterprise decided to make the Bass Hall out to be the centerpiece
of the Sundance Square by making it the best architecturally and aesthetically, as well as acoustically.
Bass Hall is currently the permanent home of the Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Symphony
Orchestra, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and Cliburn
Concerts(Bradley Hasse, 6). Before Revitalization the thought of such programs was ridiculously
impossible, especially for them to be based out of Fort Worth. The Bass Brother s contribution of the
Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall, as the crown jewel of Sundance square to many
artists and musicians all over the world due to its global recognition for being one of the top ten best
opera houses in the world (Fort Worth Architecture, 1) further allotted for attention to be drawn into
the city further than it already was, due to the completed Revitalization process. As stated, the building
was originally rejected by the city as a tax funded project (as taxpayers felt their money was better
used elsewhere), so the millionaires were so adamant about creating the famous hall at the time that

How Did Indian Ocean Trade Dbq
From 600 to 1450 CE, trade thrived through the Indian Ocean trade routes. Large and powerful states
provided security for merchants and travelers, allowing them to follow these routes with ease. While
the spread of goods and ideas along the Indian Ocean trade routes remained constant, the states
controlling them changed, leading to the creation of new states and the addition of European
participation in this network.
At the beginning of this time period, Malay sailors began riding monsoons to go to China and India.
This led to the passing of knowledge to others as well as making connections with various people. The
merchant and traveller s reliance on monsoon winds would remain constant through the period. There
was a great desire for cotton

Short Story A Good Man Is Hard To Find
In the short story A Good Man is Hard to Find Flannery O Connor brings a family road trip to life
writing a tale of misfortune and adventure throughout travel. I can relate to her story based on the road
trips taken over the years with my family. While not one trip stands out in my mind, collectively
fragments of adventures across the states come to me. Growing up we would travel at least once a year
if not more, solely relying on the pavement as transportation we would take SUV s to the islands south
or take a bus to New York. With my three sisters, various animals, as well occasional grandparents
accompanying these journeys, morale tended to grow hectic. My parents although very kind, were
incredibly strict through the entirety of my adolescence, when my sisters and I would argue they
would shut it down almost immediately. Now when arguments are shut down without resolve they
typically fester, and so emotions would explode between the children. The back and forth bickering in
a good man is hard to find reminds me of petty arguments on late nights or days with little sleep and
even more driving. The short story A P written by John Updike reminds me of my first year of public
schooling. After completing homeschool my mother chose to place me into a charter school in
manatee county for my seventh grade year, school was very foreign to me along with the company it
brought. Throughout my years of homeschool we spent our time traveling from state to state, or we
were settled down. My first public school encounter was a dreadful yet fun year depending on the day,
I was often the subject of class ridicule among others. I excelled in very simple academics in
comparison to what my mother and grandmother taught me, with good grades came the offer of being
an exclusive member of the safety patrol. As the year went on the safety patrol were given referral
slips to pass out accordingly, mine was given often to a bully of a very beautiful face, reminding me of
Queenie. The short story Good People written by David Foster Wallace reminds me of a childhood
friend, Jessie Sherman. While we lived in arcadia, a cozy town due east of palmetto, we had very few
neighbors and the ones we did have were

There Are Some Things Shaping Cultural Identity
Cultural identity is a broader term, people from multiple ethnic backgrounds may identify as
belonging to the same culture. There are many things that shape our identity. Some things that shape
our identity are our mother s, T.V, and music. To begin with our mother s help, us shape our identity
with support. My mother believed you could be anything you wanted to be in America. The text
evidence is this little girl s mom is telling her she can be anything she wants to be because this is
America. My mother slapped me. Who ask you to be a genius? However, this passage does not fully
shape her identity. When a mother slaps her child, it breaks her child and they feel useless. A child

Pro Choice Vs Pro Life Essay
The terms pro life and pro choice basically comes down to the question of whether a person wants to
see abortion banned or not. But as black and white we may want it to be, there s more to the debate
(Head). The Roman Catholic Church and a wide range of other religions disallows abortion,
euthanasia, the death penalty and war (Head). When a person is pro life , you can say that individual
believes the government has an obligation to preserve all human life, despite intent, viability, or
quality of life concerns (Head). So basically if a girl or woman was raped and got pregnant, it would
be illegal to get an abortion. Another situation would be a pregnant woman s life is at risk if she goes
through with the pregnancy. That person would technically be fines or go to jail for wanting to save
her own life as opposed to keeping the baby and possibly dying. ... Show more content on

When someone is pro choice , that person wants independence with respect to their own reproductive
systems as long as they do not violate the autonomy of others (Head). Pro choice supporters assert
strongly that celibacy and abstinence; Contraception use; Emergency contraception use; Abortion, for
the first two trimesters of pregnancy; and Childbirth to remain legal (Head).I find it very disturbing
that people are willing to abort a child from second trimester to child birth. I find it unethical and
inhuman. Unless that mother has 90 percent chance of dying by keeping the child, they should then
have the choice of going through with it or getting an abortion. I personally think if someone wants to
have an abortion because they were careless, there should be a limit on the timing. Even if it was a
rape related situation, I would still consider the facts: By 21 to 25 days, the baby s heart starts beating
(Spuc). Most people of religion will associate this with life and say that s when the fetus becomes a
person. But the heart only pumps

Money In Congress
When the founders of the United States created this country, they wanted the citizens to have an
election system which was fair, and they did not want outside influences affecting these elections.
However, through out our countries history, money has been able to influence elections. Therefore, it
is important that the government install a limit on how much one can contribute to a campaign.
Because of this, congress has worked vary hard to limit the amount of money that one is able to
contribute during a federal election. While congress had been working hard for decades to make these
laws, this has not been the case in Illinois. The State of Illinois passed its first piece of legislation,
which limited the amount of money one can contribute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new law stated that during primary election, these committees are only allowed to contribute
$200,000 to candidates for statewide office. Furthermore, they are only allowed to contribute
$125,000 for state senate elections, some judicial elections, and some county elections. Moreover,
political parties and legislative caucus committees are also only allowed to contribute $75,000 for
state representative elections, Finally, the bill states that these committees are only allowed to
contribute $50,000 for any other election in Illinois. Although this act states how much a political
party is allowed to contribute to a candidate, this new legislation also documents how much money
these committees are allowed to receive during an election cycle. The act states that during an election
cycle, a political party is only allowed to accept $10,000 of contributions from an individual, $50,000
of contributions from a political action committee, and $20,000 of contributions from a corporation
and labor organization. Because this legislation does not place a spending restriction legislative caucus
committees and political party committees to in the genial election, It has caused many people to

Persuasive Essay About Food Bank
Food banks are a terrible solution to a terrible issue. Hunger is one of the biggest issues the human
race experiences. One in nine people in the world, or 795 million people, out of the 7.4 billion people
go hungry every day because they do not have enough to eat. Every 10 seconds, a child dies from
hunger related diseases (The Hunger Project, 2017). The way lots of organizations try to help these
people in need are through food banks. A food bank is a non profit, charitable organization that
distributes to those who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger. Food banks are
inefficient in aspects of time, money, and effort because so much more can be done through donations
of money, not non perishable foods and items. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another issue arises though, it needs to be transported from the warehouse to the appropriate drop off
place, which is most likely in a high density residential area, not an industrial area. The time it takes
for all this to happen is simply too much and non efficient. We are in an era where time is valuable.
Everyone is so busy with their lives, be it for work, school, family, or hobbies, it is unnecessary to
spend all this time just to donate something that not even the buyer would eat. To show an example,
let s say a donator s name is David. David works a 9 5 job which pays $20 per hour and has three kids,
two of which have swimming practice after school. David picks up his kids at 5:30, and goes home
right in time for dinner. On his dinner table, he has high quality foods that are packed with nutrients.
David remembers there s a food drive raffle near his workplace that is looking for donations for a
chance to win a grand prize. David now has to go out of his way to go to a grocery store to buy non
perishable foods. Instead of wasting his time going, he can go to the food bank and simply donate
money. If David was planning on spending $5 and 45 minutes for the whole process, from purchasing
the items to dropping them off, he actually spent $20 plus a few extra dollars for gas. Instead of
wasting 45 minutes of his time to get $5 worth of food, he could easily have donated $25, which go a
long way. This will be explained later, but

Media Bias In Society
Media bias can be seen today on every type of media coverage that exists. Media bias is how the
person reporting the information perceives it, whether through their language when they speak about
the subject or their choice of words used in the article they wrote. A trending and important topic,
subject to such media bias is genetically modified organisms. These GMOs have modified DNA
which leads to better traits. For example, some modifications are to be able to withstand lower or
higher temperatures to growing bigger and at a faster rate. The perception of GMOs in society is
heavily split into two factions. One side is supporters of GMOs as they see it as a necessity in today s
society of billions of people. The other side is the people against GMOs who believe GMOs are not
actually beneficial to the society and may cause negative effects in overall human health. GMOs is
profoundly shown biasedly through people in all types of media coverage, like magazines,
newspapers, radio segments, the internet, or televised news segments since the people reporting use
multiple fallacies.
Media bias pertaining to GMOs can be seen in magazine articles. An article by Time magazine called
FOOD: GMOs Are Our Destiny is biased towards GMOs (Jahren, 2016). The article uses the appeal to
emotion, the attempt of persuasion through the use of emotion and feelings. For example, the author

Theme Of Materialistic Love In My Last Duchess
Unlike the sensual approach which Keats took on for his poems, La Belle Dame sans Merci and The
day is gone, and all its sweets are gone ; My Last Duchess presents love in a negative light through the
description of the Duke s materialistic and misogynistic nature. This is evident when the narrative
persona describes the painting of the Duchess as, The depth and passion of its earnest glance .
Browning uses the abstract nouns depth and passion to portray the materialistic nature of the Duke.
Instead of cherishing the Duchess when she was alive, he is seen to be treasuring the painting of her
due to its value. This is reinforced with the impersonal pronoun, its as it signifies that the Duke has
objectified the Duchess, thus treating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the narrative persona in My Last Duchess demands his wife to devote her love to him, the
protagonist of La Belle Dame sans Merci devotes himself to the woman he loves even though the love

poem. The noun phrase cold hill suggests that the knight is lonely and depressed when he waits for the
woman solely, however unlike the narrative persona of My Last Duchess , he would not demand the
woman to love him instead he would wait patiently until the day his affection towards her is accepted.

How Does Collins Present Capitalism In The Hunger Games
Suzanne Collins dystopian novel The Hunger Games, published in 2008, portrayed a post apocalyptic
Northern America, in the hedonistic nation of Panem. The Hunger Games were an annually televised
event in which the governing body, The Capitol , appointed two tributes from each impoverished
district. Twenty four children were in opposition of each other and were forced to compete for their
survival. The novel concentrated on the link between the contemporary society to an enhanced
adapted dystopian nation. This was achieved by using allegory and opinionated descriptions of the
identifiable problems of systems and ideas gone astray. Collins raised many questions in the
concerning themes of The Hunger Games on the negative future development of Panem. This included
capitalism resulting in income equality, questioning the humanity of the games and merging
entertainment with sacrifice on reality TV. The Hunger Games, presented a variety of issues that were
interpreted in various ways. The novel presented capitalism as an economic system that derailed into
forms of exploitation. Capitalism was displayed in The Hunger Games as the Capitol controlled the
trade and industry of the nation. Instead of capitalism as it was not considered a free market the
economy was reliant on comparative advantage and exploitation, in turn, creating income inequality.
This was due to the governing body treating the districts unfairly in order to benefit from their work.

Examples Of Delusion In Don Quixote
Miguel Cervantes Don Quixote is a masterpiece in many senses of the word: at the time of its
conception, it was hailed as a revolutionary work of literature that defined a genre, in later centuries
regarded as an acerbic social commentary, a slightly misshapen romantic tragedy, and even as a
synthesis of existentialist and post modernist features. At the centre of this Spanish satirical chronicle
is the perplexing character Don Quixote. Don Quixote s personality and perspective is rapidly
established fromsince the beginning of the novel, revealing unabashedly to readers that he is mad. The
source of his madness lies in the extent to which Don Quixote acts on his delusions and projections
unto reality as he saunters through Cervantes Andalusia. Don Quixote s delusions have two primary
functions in the novel: demonstrating the reality and tragedy of Cervantes manifestation of idyllic
themes of love and chivalry, and revealing certain characteristics about narration. A role of Don
Quixote s delusions is to provide a glimpse into a situation where the chivalric code is implemented.

Several key jazz figures made their way through vaudeville which allowed them to hone their craft.
One of the earliest jazz musicians and orchestrators, James Reese Europe, was an early advocate for
equality through acceptance of virtuosity in music endeavours. His orchestra backed up Vernon and
Irene Castle who are known for the fox trot and their role in the social revolution through dance (D.

vaudeville stage as a comedic pianist (Devaux 48). Another prominent member of the jazz community
was Henry Minton, who was among the initial generation to use the vaudeville circuit for upward
social mobility (Kelley 62). Significantly, he later established Minton s Playhouse, modernly known
as a revolutionary location in the development of bebop because of its cutting sessions (Gourse 19).

Fresh Connections
I am going to conduct a 5 forces analysis of the industry Fresh Connections is involved in, that is to
say the fresh food industry. These forces help us to analyse everything from the intensity of
competition to the profitability and attractiveness of the industry. We are going to use this model to
better understand the industry in which Fresh Connections operates. So, the five forces are rivalry,
buyer power, supplier power, barriers to entry and threat of substitutes.
1) The rivalry among competing sellers
First and foremost, competitive rivalry describes the intensity of competition between existing firms in
an industry. In the fresh food industry, the intensity of rivalry is influenced by different characteristics.
Price ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Switching to another competitive product is simple for them because of the competition in the U.S.
food industry. On the other hand, quality and research and development are very important for buyers
like restaurants, and Fresh Connections tries to focus its efforts on this particular segment. There is
significant buyer switching cost because these products are not standardized and buyer cannot easily
switch to an other product. They will have to pay again for development costs to switch the products.
Besides, buyers are quite powerful insofar as substitutes are available, there is good buyer
information, but fresh products are highly differentiated.
3) Competitive pressures stemming from supplier bargaining power and supplier seller collaboration
The supplier power is how much pressure suppliers can place on the business. The fresh food industry
requires raw materials and suppliers. Suppliers, if powerful, can exert an influence on the industry,
such as selling raw materials at a higher price to capture some of the industry s profit. In our industry,
bigger the firms are, more they can negotiate prices with their suppliers. So, it depends on the firm
size but also on its experience and the brand reputation. Moreover, suppliers are not very concentrated.
Firms need many different raw materials like vegetables, fruits, cheeses and meats. They do not have
just one supplier. In this sense, suppliers are not powerful but it tends to reduce volumes.

  • 2. Conformity Quotes In Fahrenheit 451 Don t step on the toes of the dog lovers, the cat lovers, doctors, lawyers, merchants, chiefs, Mormons, Baptist, Unitarians, second generation Chinese, Swedes, Germans, Texans ,Brooklynites, Irishmen, people from Oregon, or Mexico. (Bradbury 57). This quote, a statement from Captain Beatty, is an example of how conformity is a big ideology in the society. His statement proves that they believe conforming removes conflict. Take away opinions, likes, dislikes, and everyone is happy. Tell the people how they should feel and what they should believe. Montag s society s idea of a utopia is that compliance is honing. Mildred backed away as if she were suddenly confronted by a pack of mice that had come out of the floor. (Bradbury 66). In this quote, Bradbury describes Mildred s reaction to being presented books by Montag. An example of complying to the law. She reacts in fear to illegal objects. She is unsure of why she s apprehensive of the books, other than that because the society says she should be. If a book, tradition, or common practice, anything human, doesn t conform to the societal standards, then it is offensive, therefore in need of being burned, or forgotten. They erase books to erase the past. Erase tradition. An example to support the previous statement is when Beatty says, Colored people don t like Little Black Sambo. Burn it. White people don t feel good about Uncle Tom s Cabin. Burn it. Someone s written a book on tobacco and cancer of the lungs? The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Space Exploration Of Space Space exploration has brought with it numerous advances and changes to the world. Included in these changes are the significant impacts to America s cultural landscape. America s cultural perception has been shaped by fear, patriotism, and a division between the Country. Throughout Margaret Lazarus Dean s memoir Leaving Orbit, she explored many of these changes as they happened throughout the almost sixty years that American s, and the world, have been leaving Earth. Dean delves into the initial launches throughout the 50 s and 60 s, describing both the unease and loyalty to country that drove space flight forward and allowed for the cultural landscape American s live in today. One of the first cultural changes that came with the space program occurred before America s first capsule even left the Earth. The American people s fright over what the Soviets could do with this new technology of space travel was the driving factor into pushing for space flight. Fear grew exponentially in the late fifties and early sixties as the first Russian satellites were launched and the possibilities of what the Soviet Union could do with those capabilities weighed heavily on American minds. [T]he degree to which Americans were shaken by Sputnik is all but incomprehensible to people born too late to remember the Cold War... And what was to stop it from raining weapons down upon Americans from that vantage point... It is fair to say the Sputnik completely changed the way Americans in positions ... • 4. Food Security Is A Basic Human Right, Essential For Life Food security is considered as a basic human right, essential for life. It exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for a healthy and active lifestyle [Food Agricultural Organization (FAO), 1996]. Food insecurity can refer to not having sufficient food; experiencing hunger as a result of running out of food and being unable to afford more; eating a poor quality diet as a result of limited food options; anxiety about acquiring food; or having to rely on food relief (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003). Although the United States population is considered food secure as a whole, with 85.7% being food secure (Coleman Jensen, Gregory Singh, 2014), pockets of food insecurity have been identified among sub populations such as single parent households (34.4%), people at social or geographical disadvantage (26%), the homeless and the young (Rychetnik, Webb, Story, Kat, 2003; Innes Hughes, Bowers, King, Chapman, Eden, 2010). According to National Center for Education Statistics (2013), enrollment of students 18 24 years in degree granting institutions increased from 15.9 million in 2001 to 21 million in 2011. Many students live on low incomes and have unique expenses, such as high tuition, cost of textbooks, healthcare cost and other instructional expenses such as housing that increase their cost of living relative to other young ... • 5. Fluoride Mouth Rinses Focus on Fluorides: Update on the use of Fluoride for the Prevention of Dental Caries This article is based on the negative and positive impacts of fluoride uses. Topics discussed include: updates on community water fluoridation, fluoride available in dentifrices, and fluoride varnish, use and recommendations. Fluoride is the first line of defense, along with education, for preventing caries. Fluoride is the only compound recognized by the FDA for the prevention of dental caries (Carey, 2014). Fluoride comes primarily from fluoridated community water, toothpastes, and mouth rinses. The intake of water and processed beverages in the United States provides about 75% of a person s fluoride intake (Carey, 2014). Community water fluoridation began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Products that contain sodium fluoride (NaF) as the active ingredient also need to have sufficient detergent to prevent the fluoride ions from reacting with the silica abrasives forming insoluble fluorosilicates (Carey, 2014). There is a large effort to develop reliable methods of measurement of available fluoride. The difficulty in achieving the analytical methods is related to the large variety of ingredients used in toothpaste products and the different forms of fluoride delivered during tooth brushing (Carey, 2014). There are three categories of fluoride form toothpaste during tooth brushing: free ionic fluoride which has the ability to react with tooth structure, interfere with microbial metabolism, absorb to the oral mucosa, and has anticaries efficacy; profluoride compounds that are delivered or precipitate in the oral cavity during brushing, release ionic fluoride over time, and contribute to anticaries efficacy; and unavailable fluoride compounds that do not release fluoride ions, are either spat out or swallowed, and have no anticaries efficacy (Carey, 2014). Monofluorophosphate is an example of a profluoride compound that is hydrolyzed to release ionic fluoride through salivary enzyme action (Carey, 2014). The total and potentially available fluoride can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Australian Tax Reform Debt, Death Taxes 16th October 2002 Robert Camilleri The Conservative government doctrine is essentially defined as the party of tax relief. But now conservatives have converted themselves into the party of debt retirement. The conservative government has lost interest in tax cutting and instead wants to devote the surplus tax payments and asset sales over the next 3 years to paying down the national debt. The Howard Costello government, seen as militant debt hawks, has announced their goal is to retire the entire national debt by 2005. Has this government forgotten all of the economic and political lessons of the past 20 years? Take the American experience of the Reagan Government, they used surpluses to cut marginal tax rates, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Parliament will spend the money, because it is in their nature. The debt hawks say, stash the surplus money away so it s available for a rainy day. The truth is, for parliament; every day is a rainy day. The Howard government real concern is that if they are sitting on this cash the public will be screaming out for tax cuts, so repaying debt is a quick an easy way to take the focus off this get rid of the cash. Tax reform is the smarter strategy rather than reducing the debt burden and it will grow the GDP faster. A dollar devoted to reducing marginal tax rates or to reducing the tax penalty against saving and investment will yield a higher return to the Australian economy, and thus to future generations, than a dollar used for retiring debt But even if we suspend our disbelief and assume that every surplus penny was used to buy down debt, the economic benefit would be trivial. The primary argument in favour of debt reduction is that it will relieve the burden from our children of having to pay off the debt in the future. But as long as we don t add to the debt over the next decade through a return to deficit spending, the debt burden on the next generation will fall automatically. It already is happening. Even without a penny of actual debt retirement, the debt as a share of GDP will fall from 15% of GDP in the early 1990s, using the current debt levels, to about 8% of GDP now. In ... • 7. Age Related Dysphonia Case Study The aging process impacts the vocal mechanism as it does any other system of the body. In one of the few studies that reviewed vocal disorders in the geriatric population, the incidence of vocal disorders in people 65 years or older was between 12% and 35%. (Davids, Klein, Johns, 2012). Of that population, 25% had vocal fold atrophy as the cause of their disorder. (Davids, et al., 2012). A 2006 study conducted on 100 assisted living residents found the incidence of age related dysphonia to be around 20% (Golub, Chen, Otto, Hapner, Johns, 2006). It further found that the impact of this disorder had a percieved negative impact on quality of life in 13% of the test poplutation (Golub et al., 2006). An inability, or a limited ability to ... • 8. Rhetorical Analysis Of A Computer Science Proposal The following memorandum contains my rhetorical analysis on a computer science proposal. The authors John E. Laird and Michael van Lent propose that human level AI researchers use video games for AI research. Throughout the memorandum I will analyze what audiences the article can reach and how it can persuade them in a sense. I will also analyze the conventions of the article and where it seems to lose track of its main objective. As well as analyzing how the document correlates with ethos, pathos, and logos. Audience AnalysisPrimary Audience: The primary audience of the proposal is human level AI researchers. These are the main people the authors want reading their proposal. The proposal does a very good job at stating what the reason for the article is and whom the article is meant for in their introduction.Secondary Audience: The secondary audience could be the abundant number of video game companies. Some of these video game developing companies could take interest into what the authors are proposing AI researchers do. These companies could either lend a helping hand to AI researchers or use their own resources to make their own AI breakthroughs before researchers do. External Audience: An example of an external audience could be the players of video games. The authors brought up many interesting ideas that could attract gamers to join in the push for AI research using video games. The authors describe how more developed AI in video games creates different genres. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wounded Knee Massacre Analysis Gabriel Adler Professor DiGiralamo History 1000 Spring 2015 Wounded Knee Massacre Historian Heather Cox Richardson, provides a comprehensive analysis of an attempt by the government to annihilate the native Indians. In her book Wounded Knee: Party Politics and the Road to an American Massacre, she discusses the well calculated assault by the Whites on the Plain Indians. Behind this move was not the manifestation of destiny but rather politics; politics almost wiped out the natives. To illustrate the role of politics, this paper discusses the specific role of tariff reforms, farmers alliances, republicans and democrats, the silverites, the statehood process, and the spoils system. The author is able to appeal to logo, pathos and ethos, and thus manages to from a compelling proposition discussing and explaining the events leading up to the massacre. • 10. Allusions In O Brother Where Art Thou Some movies have strong connections to famous books, epics, or myths. Often times, there will be many strong allusions to different epics, but there will be few weak allusions. In Joel and Ethan Coen s O Brother Where Art Thou, The movie has strong allusion with the plot, hero qualities, and the minor characters of The Odyssey, O brother Where Art Thou has strong allusion with the minor characters of the Odyssey. For example, in the movie, Everett and his men meet a blind traveler who tells them about their journey ahead. This shows a strong allusion to The Odyssey as Odysseus and his men meet a blind foreteller named Tiresias. Tiresias tells them about the different issues occurring at home and how to reach Ithaca. When Everett saw this, he started attacking Vernon. This shows an allusion to The Odyssey, as many suitors tried to marry Penelope when Odysseus was gone. Once Odysseus came back, he started fighting with the other suitors. O brother Art Thou also has strong allusions with the plot of the Odyssey. For example, in the movie O brother Where Art Thou, Delmar wanted to stay in the Baptist rive, because he was attracted to the river and felt like he was relieved when he dipped his head. Everett, however, forced Delmar to get out of the water and continue their journey. This shows an allusion to The Odyssey, as Odysseus had to force his men away from the Lotus eaters. Many would point to nature when prompted with such a question; however, few realize that a similar question was posed and a similar answer given back in Romantic Great Britain, but to a whole new degree. British Romanticism was a reaction against technology as well as a cry to turn back to the beauty of nature, and its advocating troops held no more than a pen and paper in hand (Lorcher). Authors of the Romantic era used literature to open the eyes of a society bogged down by the chaos and clutter of everyday life, and the ideas that they promoted still affect man to this very day. The Romantic Movement spans approximately from 1783 to 1832 (Bernbaum). This was a time of ... They believed that such atrocities existed because there were still men in the world motivated by greed and pride. But they did not let this knowledge force them into a state of despondency; instead, they looked forward to the future, when such things might improve (Bernbaum). Romantics hoped that one day man s imagination would awaken and life could be what it was meant to be: free, natural, beautiful, and humane (Bernbaum xxvii). This desire for a natural life came from the Romantic s love and admiration of nature. To him, nature was emotionally expressive and the only real source of peace (Lorcher). Romantics discovered truth, virtue, and beauty not by routine examination, but by moments of inspiration in which they could see something for what it truly was (Bernbaum). They did not experience such inspiration by focusing on the exterior, the everyday affairs of mundane life; instead, they focused on the interior (Bernbaum). This is why man s imagination ... Growing up we would travel at least once a year if not more, solely relying on the pavement as transportation we would take SUV s to the islands south or take a bus to New York. With my three sisters, various animals, as well occasional grandparents accompanying these journeys, morale tended to grow hectic. Examples Of Delusion In Don Quixote Miguel Cervantes Don Quixote is a masterpiece in many senses of the word: at the time of its conception, it was hailed as a revolutionary work of literature that defined a genre, in later centuries regarded as an acerbic social commentary, a slightly misshapen romantic tragedy, and even as a synthesis of existentialist and post modernist features.
