Drive In Theatre History
June 6, 2008 the flag flying over the U.S. Capitol commemorated the 75th birthday of a distinctive
slice of Americana: the drive in movie theater.
It was on that day in 1933 that Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto bound in
Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as per person to see the British comedy Wives
Beware under the stars.
The concept of showing movies outdoors wasn t novel; people often watched silent films on screens
set up at beaches or other places boasting an abundance of sky. However, it took an auto parts
salesman such as Hollingshead to see the genius in giving a car loving society one more activity they
could do in their vehicles.
He first conceived the drive in as the answer to a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Digital cinema will be both an opportunity and a threat for drive in owners, said the association s
director of media and research Patrick Corcoran in an e mail. An opportunity because digital will
allow them to get new movies sooner than they do they are often weeks behind the break for new
films. It s a threat in that the digital transition will be expensive to manage, and some may not be able
to do it.
Kopp of course bets on the drive ins survival. In 2005, he and his wife bought the Raleigh Road
Outdoor Theatre in Henderson, N.C., for $22,000 on eBay. He said they ve invested about $300,000
since to clear the seven acres of weeds and modernize the technology. Today the theatre can
accommodate 265 cars and show movies in a 60 foot by 80 foot screen. The sound comes through car
radios.
Film fare of the Raleigh Road and other drive ins typically consists of G rated films, Kopp said.
Disney movies thrive, as do animated films.
We ve had some folks that come out on a weekly basis. It s almost like a tailgate party, Kopp

Red Kayak Analysis
Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings, is about a thiteen year old boy named Brady. Brady lives near the
Chesapeake Bay. One day, he receives a call that a three year old and his mother were lost in the river.
Brady rescues Ben, the three year old. Unfortunately, Ben dies of hypothermia due to the extremely
cold water. Brady is devastated from the incident. Time passes and he finds out his friends were
involved in the incident. Brady wants to know more about this. The story would have been completely
different if this story hadn t taken place in Maryland. The story takes place near the Chesapeake Bay.
Ben and his mom were found in the Corsica River. Since the story takes place during early spring, the
river would have been way too cold for anyone

Effects Of Pesticides On Environment And Individual Health
Introduction to Environmental Health (PUBH7027) Essay on Impact of pesticides on Environment
and Individual health
According to European Charter on Environmental and health, Environmental health includes human
health and disease that occurs or get affected from environmental factors such as social, physical,
chemical, biological or psychosocial. I totally agree with this definition as it has effectively explained
that not a single factor is responsible for the ill outcomes pertaining to environment but multifactor
plays a crucial role and according to my perspectives, drastic use of pesticides in agriculture is one of
the serious environmental degradation practice. In this essay, I ... Show more content on

These are helpful to control insects generally called pests, unwanted plants, fungi and rodents that
tends to reduce the production of fields by sharing water and other nutrients from soil. Before going
further, it is important to understand the importance of my chosen environment and it can be
apparently explained with the help of five point criteria that includes time/activities, choice,
responsibility, vulnerability and risk.
After attending week 3 lecture, I am able to understand about this criteria that more the person remain
in specific area or place, higher the chances of him to get exposure(time), it means if a person resides
in a house after spraying of pesticides, he or she is more likely to inhale or having a direct skin contact
and same phenomena is applicable on farmers working in fields except the fact that they are working
in open environment while houses are closed spaces which are meant to be more dangerous as the
chances of ventilation are comparative less than farms over here.
Choice of dwelling in this environment is entirely based on the individual needs and also on their
expectations. Somewhat, it also depends on the natural phenomena s, for example different
geographical locations comprised of different type of soil, unwanted plants growth can be varied and

What Is The Timeline Of The Big Bang Theory
Timeline of The Big Bang
The broadly accepted philosophy for the evolution of our universe is the Big Bang theory, which states
that the universe began as an incredibly hot and dense point roughly 13.7 billion years ago before
expanding into a large, unexplored cosmos; home to an unknown amount of planets and systems.
The universe is said to have begun with a cataclysm that generated space and time, as well as all of the
matter and energy that the universe will ever hold. For an incomprehensibly tiny fraction of a second,
the universe is theoretically an infinitely dense fireball. At 10 35 to 10 33 seconds, a runaway process
called inflation is said to have caused a vast expansion of space filled with energy. The inflationary
period is stopped only when this has converted into the matter and energy we know of today.
After inflation, one millionth of a second after the Big Bang, the universe supposedly continues to
expand, but not nearly as quickly. The most basic forces in nature become distinct: first gravity, then
the strong force of which holds atoms together, followed by electromagnetic forces. By the first
second, the universe is made up of fundamental particles and energy: from electrons, photons, to less
familiar types. These particles merge together to form protons and neutrons which will combine to
form the nuclei of simple elements such as hydrogen, helium and lithium.
The first major creation of the universe was radiation different wavelengths of light,

Education Inequality In Thailand
Although gender and education inequality may be both gradually increasing while shifting up and
down throughout the years, the adult literacy rate in Thailand has only been increasing since 2000. In
2015, only about four percent of Thailand s citizens aged fifteen and over were illiterate. This ends up
positively contributing to a wide variety of social improvements, such as lower infant mortality rates
and higher education levels for future generations. This is because a parent who went to school and
learned to reads is more likely to do the same with their child, regardless of gender. The same goes for
length of education as well the more education they received, the more education they will likely
expect their child to experience.
As Thailand s globalization has increased very little over the years, another major developmental
indicator has also done the same. The World Bank shows Thailand s average citizen lifespan from
birth experiences a four year increase from 2000 to 2014, from 70 years to seventy four years. Another
improving factor for Thai citizens is the increasing health standards even after the 2014 military coup.
Thailand has ranked higher than the surrounding countries for births attended by a skilled staff
member since 2000 and beyond. This is a major indicator of Thai development, not only for health but
also for women s rights. From the year 2000 to 2012, Thailand s percentage ranged from 97.3% and
99.6% of births. In comparison, Laos highest percentage

The Knight s Tale Comparison Essay
In the short story, The Knight s Tale written by Geoffrey Chaucer, the two main characters, Palamon
and Arcite battle for the love of Emily. The Duke of Athens, Theseus, had taken Palamon and Arcite
prisoners and locked them up in a tower, where they then noticed Emily and immediately had fallen in
love without ever even talking to her. Emily was Theseus sister in law and since both Palamon and
Arcite were prisoners, they most likely had a slim chance of getting to meet the love of their life.
Throughout The Knight s Tale , there are many instances that display differences, similarities, and the
resulting consequences between Arcite and Palamon. Throughout The Knight s Tale , Palamon and
Arcite display many differences in everything they do to win the love of Emily. Palamon was the first
to remark Emily, but instead of falling in love with her as a woman, he fell in ... Show more content

when Arcite saw Emily, he instantly was infatuated with her as a woman and not as a goddess.
Another difference between Palamon and Arcite is the way they got out of prison. Perotheus, a friend
of Theseus and also of Arcite, visited Theseus in Athens and heard that Arcite is in prison, so he asked
Theseus to release Arcite. Theseus immediately did what his friend asked, and Arcite was freed from

Analysis Of Dave Barry s Guys Vs.
A short essay Guys vs. Men written by Dave Barry, presents Dave s perception on the difference
between Guys and Men . Dave presents his essay in a comical way that generalizes the men vs. guys
and also gender biased generalization. Dave argues that men hold too much of responsibilities and
many expectations in which guys do not and they live happier life. One of the methods he uses to
support his argument is a comparison. Other method he uses is the description of how he views men
vs. guys and gives his perspective. And the last method he uses to further his argument is the use of
hyperbole, exaggeration through out the essay.
First method of development Dave uses to further his argument is a comparision and gender biased
generalization. His temptation to buy new and unnecessary things just because he is a guy can be
compared when he compares females urge to rearrange furniture with males urge of using newest and
latest technical equipments. Dave separates guys and women by giving their choice that is somewhat
statistically true, that women are more interested in decorating house oppose to buying latest version
of technical items. Dave s use of logos play significant role here to support his argument. Not only he
compares guys and women, but also guys with his auxiliary dog. (919). He compares that guys do not
follow rules even though they know they are not suppose to do things they do, just like his small
auxiliary backup dog. Dave is saying that his

time grow. The need for a shift in strategies has emerged in reaction to the volatile economic situation.
Nando s has not been immune to this downturn and has had to tighten operating margins in order to
remain competitive. This has lead to slower growth rates than the company initially anticipated.
Certain pressures surrounding how and where Nando s sources its poultry from has recently become a
pressure for the organisation. Fair Trade, organic, and free range concerns have resulted in some
problems for Nando s in regards to its product standards. This has caused the company to begin
working with local authorities in some countries when purchasing, transporting, and storing its
poultry. This added pressure has caused Nando s to rethink some of its values and strategies. The
company s marketing tactics have also resulted in external pressures for the company. Whilst often
said to be edgy and attention grabbing, Nando s adverts have often been found offensive by groups of
individuals in certain countries. Due to this reaction, several of the organisation s adverts have been
redone to be more suitable for certain markets. Vision and Values (Policies that affect people, internal

Saint Augustine, one of the best scholars of the early church, portrayed the Trinity as practically
identical to the three sections of an individual: personality, soul, and will. They are three unmistakable
viewpoints, yet they are conjoined and together constitute one bound together individual. The purpose
of this research paper is to further emphasize, highlight, and defend St. Augustine s conclusion that the
Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons according to the meeting at the Council of Nicea
325.
In 325, the Council of Nicea set out to formally characterize the relationship of the Son to the Father,
in light of the dubious lessons of Arius. Driven by Bishop Athanasius, the gathering confirmed the
precept of the Trinity as conventionality and censured Arius showing that Christ was the first making
of God. The ideology received by the committee depicted Christ as God of God, Light of Light, very
God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance (homoousios) with the Father.
The Council of Nicea occurred by request of the Roman Emperor Caesar Flavius Constantine. Nicea
was situated in Asia Minor, east of Constantinople. At the Council of Nicea, Emperor Constantine

War as an Influential Force in the Jade Peony Essay
War as an influential force in The Jade Peony
The Jade Peony is a novel that concentrated on the life of early Chinese immigrants by describing a
series of stories happened in a four kid family. The novel told the reminiscences of three children s
child life in that family, therefore it was divided into three parts according to the different characters.
But apart from the family routine portrayed in the novel, it can be clearly seen in the whole book that
war, as another implied clue, played an important role in the development of the story.
In the first place, as an overall background, Chinese civil war between Kuomintang (the party leaded

The Effects Of Drunk Driving On The Road Of Driving
Oluwaseyi Isola
Prof. Laura Baltuska
English 101 015
29 November, 2016
Under the Influence Is Under Arrest
What is one of the most evil and deadly acts? Drunk driving? Oh no! These two words together are
uncordial behaviors. The crime of driving a vehicle or operating a motorized machine while under the
influence of alcohol is totally against the law of the land, but some people still won t stop. Is there any
gain in drunk driving than loss of lives, loss of driving privileges, and property vehicles? One third of
traffic deaths involve alcohol impaired driving (MADD). Therefore, a behavior that involves a tiny
proportion of drivers is one of the key causes of death on the roads. This is an indication that retaining
the licenses of drivers involved in drunk driving is not enough to deter drunk driving because some
people in this category are still driving even though their licenses have been suspended or revoked.
For this reason, it is necessary to adopt more strict measures to deal with the problem. In particular,
drunk driving can be prevented through the use of ignition interlock systems and sobriety checkpoints
at an individual level while a school based instructional program can help to prevent the problem at a
community level.
To begin with, drunk driving is a serious menace to Americans on the road, as it contributes to a large
number of traffic deaths and injuries. In 2012, for instance, over 10,000 people lost their lives from
crashes attributed to drunk driving.

What Is Karwachauth Festival Essay
One of the many festivals that we celebrate in India is Karwachauth. Karwachauth has a profound
significance in the lives of married women since they fast for their husband s long life and well being
on this festival. Karwachauth falls in the month of October. According to Hindu lunisolar calendar,
this festival falls in the month of Kartik, on the fourth day past the full moon of the Krishna Paksha.
Karvachauth word is a blend of two Hindi words: karva means the earthen pot (used in the puja) and
Chauth means the fourth day. Married women fast for their husband from the time the sun rises till the
moon rises and offer their prayers to the goddess Chauth maata to get the blessing of the longevity of
their spouse.
Scriptures have it that this festival is celebrated because Satyavati had saved his husband, Satyavan,
king of Hastinapur from Yama god of death by fasting and got her husband s life restored. There are

Raymond Carver and his Works
Part 2
I personally believe that with any story told or movie made that you have to creator s life to see where
the story actually comes from. No matter what we do in life we all as human beings find a way to
show what we have been through in our lives. Raymond Carver was no different just he had a really
tough road that he traveled and it showed in his stories. According to an interview with William, Stull
in Matters of Life Death: An Interview with Raymond Carver Carver also understood that his life
showed through in his work, Wolff said in a review of my first book of stories that he felt he could
pick out a story of mine without seeing my name attached to it. I took that as a compliment. If you can
find an author s fingerprints on the work, you can tell it s his and no other s. (Stull 14 17) Carver s life
bled through his work and in The Bath we can see this. In The Bath we have a couple dealing with the
accident their son had been in and it seemed to push them apart more than they already were. The fact
of the couple losing touch with each other managed to transcend the story into Carver s real life,
Carver s marriage to his first wife Maryann. But instead of an accident pushing Raymond and
Maryann apart, it was Raymond s addiction to Alcohol and the problems that came with his addiction.

Loss Oriented Stressors
Death has always been and will be a topic that just a few want to talk, but since time immemorial man
has worshiped their dead, and this is reflected in the various rituals and forms of burial. The anguish
of death has been considered the deepest anguish of man. Death is the inevitable companion of life, is
the final stage. It can occur at any age, suddenly or after a long illness. Despite knowing that someday
we will have to die the death of a loved one is a terrible fact, very difficult to accept, that affects
everyone around the deceased person. When the link with the deceased breaks, the suffering is so
great, that they put into question the fundamentals of being, of human existence and our deepest
beliefs, affecting significantly the basic family and social relationships.
The process model of coping with bereavement identified two types of stressors related to
bereavement: loss oriented stressors and restoration oriented stressors. Loss oriented stressors are
essentially those that relate directly to the death and the feelings associated with it. These types of
stressors include ruminating on the emotions associated with the deceased, concentrating on how life
had been prior to the loss, and focusing on the actual circumstances surrounding the death. Restoration

Essay
Introduction
Negotiations and decisions are act as key counterparts in every business. A clear definition as well as
the recognition of core elements surrounding the decision making process is required to reach a
suitable decision. These approaches purpose to be achieved clear concerns before a final decision
making. This paper will outline prospect theory and discuss the differences between prospect theory
and expected utility theory. Following will be, as explanation of the biases and heuristics of the
investment decision making process.
Part 1.
Prospect theory is an important alternative descriptive theory for decision making under unreliable
situation (Kahneman and Tversky 1979), which includes real life selection and psychological analysis
between choices that involve risk. Prospect theory, which efforts to explain individual make decisions
between risky replacements based on the value of potential gains and losses (Wakker 2010), advanced
from expected utility theory, which explains that investors want to maximize expected utility of wealth
when unclearly situations (Blavatskyy 2007). According to Kahneman and Tversky (1992), more
recent researches perceived nonlinear preferences in choices that do not involve definite events in
prospective theory. The concept of framing effect refers description invariances (Kahneman and
Tversky 1992). To be specific, individual always makes the same decision in identical choice
conditions. Also, decision makers have tendency to

restructuring process mainly detached the job rotation which is the key area to develop the employee
ability and get equal advantages of service quality as well as job satisfaction.
Frenkel et al. (1999) describe that, the great job satisfaction is being connected by the end appearance
of the work. This categorization can be useful where complaint management, for illustration, is
expected to stick to the previous, even as the technical help is being possible to be related with

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised By Gil Scott Heron
In the 1960s, the Civil rights movement faced many challenges, a lack of media was one of them. The
media managed to cover a lot of the events that happened during the movement. However, the media
coverage still failed to bring the right amount of attention to the issue at hand. T.V. shows and
advertisements did not change or show any support. Even though a change was taking place, the
messages were not being shown to the American public. With that being said, the black power
movement had a saying for this The Revolution Will Not Be Televised .
The Revolution Will Not be Televised was written by Gil Scott Heron in 1970. This was during the
time after the Civil right movement was big. Equality was still a struggle, but things were coming
along, as blacks were finally getting some notice in things. The Government treated black like they
did not exist and were very corrupt, which is why he wrote this poem. Born on April 1, 1949, Gil Scott
Heron was raised by his maternal grandmother, Lillie Scott, In Jackson Tennessee. He later moved to
New York, after his grandmother died, at the age of 12. He went to a high school in the Bronx and
attended Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, eventually settling down in Manhattan. He met Brian
Jackson during the time he was attending Lincoln University and later founded the Black Blues band.
There were about nine members in the group, but according to Scott Heron he was arguably not the
most important voice

Emily Dickinson Analysis
What Lies ahead in the Afterlife?
Death is something most people tend not to think about. When death is brought up most people have
several questions like, what happens afterlife? where do you go? what do you see? Emily Dickson was
obsessed with writing about death and love. She had a unique view when she explored her curiosity of
death and what happens in the afterlife threw her imaginative writings. Dickinson examines death
from many different viewpoints and carries her thoughts and feelings through her poetry. She makes
death seem natural and unstoppable, but at the same time giving comfort that it is not the end of a soul
s journey. Dickinson could take her thoughts, belief s, emotions and transform them into words then
put them into a poem that was truly from her heart.
In both her poems, Because I could not stop death and I heard a fly buzz , Emily Dickinson brings to
light the subject of death and what happens when coming to terms with death by accepting it. One
having a more powerful point of view about the afterlife. Both poems show similarities because they
both wanting death to take them both on to the afterlife. Dickinson is trying to send to her audience a
greater feel for what may lie ahead in the afterlife with two different moods. Both poems have very
different messages on what happens when one is confronted after death. One describes the afterlife as
peaceful and civil while the other one disappointing and sad. Because I could not stop for death is the
more powerful poem of the two. By discussing comparing and contrasting both poems and
understanding their meanings, the reader can gain a fuller understanding of the of what lies ahead in
the afterlife.
For example, In Emily Dickinson s poem I heard a fly buzz it brings a good point about Emily
Dickson in a way has come to the terms with dying. She had stated in the third stanza line one of the
poem I willed my keepsakes Signed away (753) meaning she has already gave all her possessions
away and ready for death to come take her away to see what the afterlife has in store for her. She is set
on trying to find out the question everyone seeks at least a few times in their life, what will happen
after death? She ponders as she is

The Cicones In The Odyssey
Cicones were a Homeric Thracian tribe, whose stronghold in the time of the Odyssey was the town of
Ismara, located at the foot of mount Ismara on the south coast of Thrace, in modern Greece. After they
raided the Cicones they made there way over to the Land of the Lotus Eaters. The Lotus is a plant
which affects your brain when consumed to make you want to stay on the island and eat it for the rest
of your life. Some of Odysseus s men were taken over by the lotus plant, but overcame it when the
other crew members made them stop. One of the biggest problems Odysseus s crew had to overcome
was being turned into swine by Circe.
Circe drugged a number of Odysseus s men, which turned them into swine. When Odysseus goes to
rescue them, Hermes confronts him in the form of a young man. He tells Odysseus to eat a herb called
moly to protect himself from Circe s drug. Odysseus did what the young man, Hermès, told him to do
and lunged at Circe when she tried to hit him with her sword. After escaping Circe, Odysseus and his
men took back to his ships and sailed off. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sirens were dangerous creatures, who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing
voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their islands and to counter the Sirens they had to plug their
ears with beeswax. They did so and it worked magnificently. Odysseus and his men then arrived at the
land of Calypso. Odysseus wasn t very loyal to his wife on this whole journey and he definitely was
not at the island of Calypso in which he had many affairs with multiple women for several years.

Mondavi Procurement Management
Mondavi Procurement Management
Procurement is the complete process or action of acquiring or obtaining material, property, or services
at the operational level, such as purchasing, contracting, and negotiating directly with the source of
supply. Procuring goods and services is a larger process than just the label price of wine; the process
to buy those items includes major organizational costs, often accounting for half of the product price.
When allowing for the vast number of purchases Mondavi makes in a year, it is easy to see how these
costs can spiral out of control without careful management. This paper will describe the contract
administration policies, procedures, tools and termination procedure for the Robert Mondavi Winery,

Several types of contract terminations exist including evergreen, rolling contracts and end of contracts.
Typically Mondavi uses End of Contracts , where once the contract tasks are completed the contract is
finished.
These contracts signed by Mondavi are often long term, whether they are dealing with grape growers
or equipment suppliers. An example of this took place in 1966 after Robert Mondavi left Krug Winery.
Mondavi met with several of Krug s grape suppliers and convinced them to provide grapes for
Mondavi s new company. Mondavi signed these growers to long term contracts to provide Mondavi
with the grapes he needed to produce fine wines in the years to come. This was unique to the
California wine industry, because most of the deals between vineyards and wineries were handshake
deals. Even in 1996, many small wineries were caught off guard when Mondavi purchased Sierra
Madre Vineyard; several of these small wineries had handshake deals with Sierra Madre and could not
purchase the same quantity of grapes from Mondavi that they had grown accustomed to in the past
from Sierra Madre (Berger, 1996). Robert Mondavi has always done business this way, through a
contract with specifications to the length and details of the contract.
External Influences to Procurement Management
There are a number of external influences on the procurement management processes in the wine
industry; key is the price of

Suffering In Sophocles Oedipus The King
From Greece to Rome and to Britain, the world s most renowned philosophers and literary writers
have tackled the concept of suffering. From Sophocles Oedipus the King, to the poetry written by
Jonathan Swift, John Donne and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, multiple literary scholars have
demonstrated suffering throughout the last couple centuries. Whether it may be sexual suffering as
seen in the work of John Donne s His Mistress Going to Bed, and Jonathan Swifts The Lady s
Dressing Room and A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, or the emotional, physical and psychological
suffering in Oedipus the King, literature s greatest authors have allowed audiences to experience a
character s suffering and emotions in various forms sexually, emotionally, physically ... Show more

The Lady s Dressing Room is the complete opposite of A Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed; in fact,
rather than taking a calmer and accepting approach towards women and their flaws as he did in A
Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed, Swift attacks women and takes on a more sexist and misogynistic
approach. Swift s poem is highly invasive as it chronicles the unwanted entry of Strephon, a young
man, into a Celia s dressing room; it is here that Strephon begins to suffer psychologically from what
he witnesses in fact, Swift states that he pity wretched Strephon blind, to all the charms of female kind
. Strephon does not literally go blind as Oedipus did in Oedipus the King but is psychologically
scarred by the horror that he witnesses when he is exposed to Celia s mess. Strephon is ultimately
disillusioned by the discovery of his beloved Celia s humanity and flesh and blood physicality. It is at
the moment that Strephon shouts Oh! Celia, Celia, Celia shits! (Lady s Dressing Room, 118), that
audience members are truly aware of Strephon s horror and suffering. Although some may feel pity for
Strephon, his suffering is quite humorous. After Strephon runs away from Celia s chamber, the reader
is reminded of how foolish his actions and reaction to his discovery of Celia s bodily functions were in
fact, they were

The Midlife Crisis
Midlife crisis is defined as a period of emotional turmoil in middle age (40 60 years) characterized by
a strong desire for change (Argosy University Online, 2015). According to Tergesen (2014), a
continuing national study of midlife funded by the National Institute on Aging, reports that 26% of
adults ages 25 to 75 reported having had a midlife crisis (Tergesen, 2014).Among respondents who are
50 plus, slightly more, 35%, say they ve had one, but in the group that includes 30 and 40 age groups,
only about half reported having a change triggered by inner turmoil and angst, associated with getting
older, the link included things such as, job loss and divorce, which are not unique to midlife (Tergesen,
2014). Many of the participants in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Batman. Superman strugles with this because he does the best he can at helping people, and arguably
does a better job at saving the world than Batman, and is still under appreciated. Up untill the end of

Not Either an Experimental Doll
Ryan Shellady Professor Mtisi Paideia October 31st, 2012 Placing Fault: A Look at Determining Who
is to Blame for Lily Moya s Downfall in Not Either an Experimental Doll The Separate Worlds of
Three South African Women In today s Western culture, it is hard to imagine a world without
education. Adults and children alike view education as a common practice that is essential to everyday
life. For Lily Moya, this is not the case. In Not Either an Experimental Doll, edited by Shula Marks,
letters of correspondence reveal a relationship between Dr. Mabel Palmer, a well known European
supporter of black education, and Lily Moya, a girl growing up in apartheid South Africa. Lily writes
to Palmer requesting acceptance into a school. Due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of Lily s individual weaknesses that lead to her demise is stubbornness; it plays a large role
in why Palmer has such a difficult time dealing with Lily. On a number of occasions through the
correspondence, Lily attempts to treat Palmer as though the two of them are close, intimate friends.
Lily even goes as far as saying to Palmer, I hope you stay for years, with me (Marks 113). If this is not
pressure enough, Lily goes on to guilt Palmer by proclaiming, You cannot leave me alone in this
merciless world (Marks 113). When faced with these remarks, she needed to address Lily s outlook on
their relationship to make sure Lily understood that their interaction had to remain professional. You
say that one of your reasons for wishing to be in Durban is that you want to see more of me, but have
you ever asked yourself whether I wish do see more of you? As a matter of fact I do not. Your
romantic and self centered imagination has built up for you a picture in which you are to be my
devoted and intimate friend. Now you must forgive me for saying that this is all nonsense. Even if you
were a European girl of your age it would still be nonsense (Marks 136). Palmer makes it very clear
that Lily s feelings for her are simply not reciprocated. Palmer says she does not wish to see Lily, and
that Lily s perception of their connection is just nonsense . Critics will argue that Palmer s tone here is
too aggressive though. They ll argue that

Pornography Is A Complex Topic
Pornography is a complex topic. Anti pornography feminists claimed that pornography may cause
serious problem such as gender inequality thus opposed its existence while other feminists may
disagree with those claims from disagreeing with one specific argument to claiming the benefit of
pornography (Saul, 2003). Historically, women are excluded from the pornography consumer sitting.
However, some people began to notice the demand of women in sexual fantasy space in this century.
Some published works are described as designed for women (Sonnet,1999). Vadas (2005) claimed that
pornography s manufacture for use harms women because it creates women who are not necessarily
persons. In other words, objectification harms women because it makes women s personhood become
not necessary. However, Vadas s claim is not enough to oppose pornography. I will, firstly, explain
Vadas s claim. Then I will argue that Vadas s claim only focuses on the heterosexual use of
pornography for men in specific. This kind of focus totally based on the male dominate view and
overlook other kinds of pornography and their possible benefit.
In the manufacture for use of pornography and women s inequality , Vadas (2005) claimed that
pornography is an object manufactured for sexual use. The manufacture is for satisfying sexual desire.
The act of pornography consumed seems to be a sex act because using pornography can fulfil the
whole sexual process from sexual arousal to ejaculation and orgasm as real sex.

“When Your Conscience Says Law Is Immoral, Don T Follow
When your conscience says law is immoral, don t follow it. (Washington v. Glucksberg, n.d) This line,
originally from Jack Kevorkian seems to resonate deeply with the proponents of legalizing marijuana
use, despite it originally referring to assisted suicide. The legalization of marijuana use had become
one of the biggest hot button issues of the last decade, and is being fiercely debated across the United
States. First made illegal in 1970 with the passing of the Controlled Substances Act, which declared it
an addictive drug with no medical value, many are now fighting against this law, citing medicinal uses
and an apparent lack of fierce addictiveness. Since 1996, 23 states have passed laws allowing for
medicinal use of marijuana, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other side of pro legalization are those who seek full legalization of the drug for recreational, as
well as medical, usage. Recreational marijuana should be understood as marijuana that has not been
recommended for use by a medical professional, and is used solely for the psychoactive properties that
it contains. But is the morality between these two camps really any different? Is using marijuana for
the medicinal purpose alone any different, when looking at it from an ethical standpoint, then using it
for enjoyment? By examining this issue through several different ethical theories, it becomes clear that
there is a distinct difference in the morality between medical and recreational use. Medical use of
marijuana is moral. In some cases, it allows users to live a relatively normal life, while in other cases
it gives users a reduction in pain as they approach the end of their lives. However, recreational use of
marijuana is not moral. Unrestricted use for no medical reason can be destructive and addicting,
despite the momentary pleasure it may bring to the user. Pleasure is the basis for one of the main
ethical theories, hedonism. As one of the simplest ethical theories, it is probably the best place to
begin our examination.
Hedonism is one of the oldest of philosophical theories, dating back to the ancient Greeks. As Schafer
Landau (2015) explained, Epicurus (341 270 BCE), the first great hedonist, argued that pleasure was

The House On Mango Street By Sandra Cisneros
The Street That Changed a Life The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros, displays a great
emphasis on culture and people helping form a young girl into a young lady. The main character,
Esperanza, has to navigate a mentally and physically challenging life growing up in a poor, Hispanic
neighborhood while still learning how to mature and rise above the poverty that surrounds her. Thus,
the question arises: in what way and to what extent does close human interaction change Esperanza s
life and set her on the path to being accomplished? Being around people such as her friends, family
and neighbors cause Esperanza to realize what she wants in life and how to gain the maturity needed
to escape the troubles of Mango Street. Mango ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mango Street affects her at first in a bad way. Her disapproval is proven by her thought, I knew then I
had to have a house... But this isn t it. The house on Mango Street isn t it. For the time being, Mama
says. Temporary, says Papa (Cisneros 5). Even though Esperanza does not like the house, it is a very
special thing to her family, The house on Mango Street is ours, and we don t have to pay rent to
anybody, or share the yard with the people downstairs, or be careful not to make too much noise, and
there isn t a landlord banging on the ceiling with a broom (Cisneros 3). This is the first sign of
Esperanza s transformation to a new and better life which will be guided by the wisdom and ignorance
of people neighboring her family. Esperanza s family has a heavy impression on her. Being the eldest
out of four children made her have to mature fast if she wanted to care for her younger siblings
properly. An instance in which she proves to overlook sadness for the sake of her family is when their
grandfather died. She had to accept the responsibility of being a leader to her young brothers and
sister, Your abuelito is dead...Because I am the oldest, my father had told me first and now it is my
turn to tell the others (Cisneros 56). Her mother also pushed her to be mature and responsible by
encouraging her to try in school and not give up, Shame is a bad thing, you know. It keeps you down.

  • 2. Drive In Theatre History June 6, 2008 the flag flying over the U.S. Capitol commemorated the 75th birthday of a distinctive slice of Americana: the drive in movie theater. It was on that day in 1933 that Richard Hollingshead opened the first theater for the auto bound in Camden, N.J. People paid 25 cents per car as well as per person to see the British comedy Wives Beware under the stars. The concept of showing movies outdoors wasn t novel; people often watched silent films on screens set up at beaches or other places boasting an abundance of sky. However, it took an auto parts salesman such as Hollingshead to see the genius in giving a car loving society one more activity they could do in their vehicles. He first conceived the drive in as the answer to a problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Digital cinema will be both an opportunity and a threat for drive in owners, said the association s director of media and research Patrick Corcoran in an e mail. An opportunity because digital will allow them to get new movies sooner than they do they are often weeks behind the break for new films. It s a threat in that the digital transition will be expensive to manage, and some may not be able to do it. Kopp of course bets on the drive ins survival. In 2005, he and his wife bought the Raleigh Road Outdoor Theatre in Henderson, N.C., for $22,000 on eBay. He said they ve invested about $300,000 since to clear the seven acres of weeds and modernize the technology. Today the theatre can accommodate 265 cars and show movies in a 60 foot by 80 foot screen. The sound comes through car radios. Film fare of the Raleigh Road and other drive ins typically consists of G rated films, Kopp said. Disney movies thrive, as do animated films. We ve had some folks that come out on a weekly basis. It s almost like a tailgate party, Kopp ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Effects Of Pesticides On Environment And Individual Health Introduction to Environmental Health (PUBH7027) Essay on Impact of pesticides on Environment and Individual health According to European Charter on Environmental and health, Environmental health includes human health and disease that occurs or get affected from environmental factors such as social, physical, chemical, biological or psychosocial. I totally agree with this definition as it has effectively explained that not a single factor is responsible for the ill outcomes pertaining to environment but multifactor plays a crucial role and according to my perspectives, drastic use of pesticides in agriculture is one of the serious environmental degradation practice. These are helpful to control insects generally called pests, unwanted plants, fungi and rodents that tends to reduce the production of fields by sharing water and other nutrients from soil. Before going further, it is important to understand the importance of my chosen environment and it can be apparently explained with the help of five point criteria that includes time/activities, choice, responsibility, vulnerability and risk. After attending week 3 lecture, I am able to understand about this criteria that more the person remain in specific area or place, higher the chances of him to get exposure(time), it means if a person resides in a house after spraying of pesticides, he or she is more likely to inhale or having a direct skin contact and same phenomena is applicable on farmers working in fields except the fact that they are working in open environment while houses are closed spaces which are meant to be more dangerous as the chances of ventilation are comparative less than farms over here. Choice of dwelling in this environment is entirely based on the individual needs and also on their expectations. Somewhat, it also depends on the natural phenomena s, for example different geographical locations comprised of different type of soil, unwanted plants growth can be varied and pests ... • 6. What Is The Timeline Of The Big Bang Theory Timeline of The Big Bang The broadly accepted philosophy for the evolution of our universe is the Big Bang theory, which states that the universe began as an incredibly hot and dense point roughly 13.7 billion years ago before expanding into a large, unexplored cosmos; home to an unknown amount of planets and systems. The universe is said to have begun with a cataclysm that generated space and time, as well as all of the matter and energy that the universe will ever hold. For an incomprehensibly tiny fraction of a second, the universe is theoretically an infinitely dense fireball. At 10 35 to 10 33 seconds, a runaway process called inflation is said to have caused a vast expansion of space filled with energy. The inflationary period is stopped only when this has converted into the matter and energy we know of today. After inflation, one millionth of a second after the Big Bang, the universe supposedly continues to expand, but not nearly as quickly. The most basic forces in nature become distinct: first gravity, then the strong force of which holds atoms together, followed by electromagnetic forces. By the first second, the universe is made up of fundamental particles and energy: from electrons, photons, to less familiar types. These particles merge together to form protons and neutrons which will combine to form the nuclei of simple elements such as hydrogen, helium and lithium. The first major creation of the universe was radiation different wavelengths of light, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Education Inequality In Thailand Although gender and education inequality may be both gradually increasing while shifting up and down throughout the years, the adult literacy rate in Thailand has only been increasing since 2000. In 2015, only about four percent of Thailand s citizens aged fifteen and over were illiterate. This ends up positively contributing to a wide variety of social improvements, such as lower infant mortality rates and higher education levels for future generations. This is because a parent who went to school and learned to reads is more likely to do the same with their child, regardless of gender. The same goes for length of education as well the more education they received, the more education they will likely expect their child to experience. As Thailand s globalization has increased very little over the years, another major developmental indicator has also done the same. The World Bank shows Thailand s average citizen lifespan from birth experiences a four year increase from 2000 to 2014, from 70 years to seventy four years. Another improving factor for Thai citizens is the increasing health standards even after the 2014 military coup. Thailand has ranked higher than the surrounding countries for births attended by a skilled staff member since 2000 and beyond. This is a major indicator of Thai development, not only for health but also for women s rights. From the year 2000 to 2012, Thailand s percentage ranged from 97.3% and 99.6% of births. In comparison, Laos highest percentage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Duke of Athens, Theseus, had taken Palamon and Arcite prisoners and locked them up in a tower, where they then noticed Emily and immediately had fallen in love without ever even talking to her. Emily was Theseus sister in law and since both Palamon and Arcite were prisoners, they most likely had a slim chance of getting to meet the love of their life. Throughout The Knight s Tale , there are many instances that display differences, similarities, and the resulting consequences between Arcite and Palamon. Theseus immediately did what his friend asked, and Arcite was freed from prison without having to escape. • 10. Analysis Of Dave Barry s Guys Vs. A short essay Guys vs. Men written by Dave Barry, presents Dave s perception on the difference between Guys and Men . Dave presents his essay in a comical way that generalizes the men vs. guys and also gender biased generalization. Dave argues that men hold too much of responsibilities and many expectations in which guys do not and they live happier life. One of the methods he uses to support his argument is a comparison. Other method he uses is the description of how he views men vs. guys and gives his perspective. And the last method he uses to further his argument is the use of hyperbole, exaggeration through out the essay. First method of development Dave uses to further his argument is a comparision and gender biased generalization. His temptation to buy new and unnecessary things just because he is a guy can be compared when he compares females urge to rearrange furniture with males urge of using newest and latest technical equipments. Dave separates guys and women by giving their choice that is somewhat statistically true, that women are more interested in decorating house oppose to buying latest version of technical items. Dave s use of logos play significant role here to support his argument. Not only he compares guys and women, but also guys with his auxiliary dog. (919). He compares that guys do not follow rules even though they know they are not suppose to do things they do, just like his small auxiliary backup dog. Dave is saying that his ... This has put pressure on those restaurant companies wishing to remain competitive whilst at the same time grow. The need for a shift in strategies has emerged in reaction to the volatile economic situation. Nando s has not been immune to this downturn and has had to tighten operating margins in order to remain competitive. This has lead to slower growth rates than the company initially anticipated. Certain pressures surrounding how and where Nando s sources its poultry from has recently become a pressure for the organisation. Fair Trade, organic, and free range concerns have resulted in some problems for Nando s in regards to its product standards. This has caused the company to begin working with local authorities in some countries when purchasing, transporting, and storing its poultry. This added pressure has caused Nando s to rethink some of its values and strategies. The company s marketing tactics have also resulted in external pressures for the company. Whilst often said to be edgy and attention grabbing, Nando s adverts have often been found offensive by groups of individuals in certain countries. Due to this reaction, several of the organisation s adverts have been redone to be more suitable for certain markets. The Council Of Nicea ( 325 ) LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DIVINITY Research Paper on The Council of Nicea (325) Submitted to Dr. Jerry Sutton, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of CHHI 510 D03 Survey of the History of Christianity by Todd Bush August 20, 2016 Saint Augustine, one of the best scholars of the early church, portrayed the Trinity as practically identical to the three sections of an individual: personality, soul, and will. They are three unmistakable viewpoints, yet they are conjoined and together constitute one bound together individual. The purpose of this research paper is to further emphasize, highlight, and defend St. Augustine s conclusion that the Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons according to the meeting at the Council of Nicea 325. In 325, the Council of Nicea set out to formally characterize the relationship of the Son to the Father, in light of the dubious lessons of Arius. Driven by Bishop Athanasius, the gathering confirmed the precept of the Trinity as conventionality and censured Arius showing that Christ was the first making of God. The ideology received by the committee depicted Christ as God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance (homoousios) with the Father. The Council of Nicea occurred by request of the Roman Emperor Caesar Flavius Constantine. Nicea was situated in Asia Minor, east of Constantinople. War as an Influential Force in the Jade Peony Essay War as an influential force in The Jade Peony The Jade Peony is a novel that concentrated on the life of early Chinese immigrants by describing a series of stories happened in a four kid family. The novel told the reminiscences of three children s child life in that family, therefore it was divided into three parts according to the different characters. But apart from the family routine portrayed in the novel, it can be clearly seen in the whole book that war, as another implied clue, played an important role in the development of the story. The Effects Of Drunk Driving On The Road Of Driving Oluwaseyi Isola Prof. Laura Baltuska English 101 015 29 November, 2016 Under the Influence Is Under Arrest What is one of the most evil and deadly acts? Drunk driving? Oh no! These two words together are uncordial behaviors. The crime of driving a vehicle or operating a motorized machine while under the influence of alcohol is totally against the law of the land, but some people still won t stop. Is there any gain in drunk driving than loss of lives, loss of driving privileges, and property vehicles? One third of traffic deaths involve alcohol impaired driving (MADD). Therefore, a behavior that involves a tiny proportion of drivers is one of the key causes of death on the roads. This is an indication that retaining the licenses of drivers involved in drunk driving is not enough to deter drunk driving because some people in this category are still driving even though their licenses have been suspended or revoked. For this reason, it is necessary to adopt more strict measures to deal with the problem. In particular, drunk driving can be prevented through the use of ignition interlock systems and sobriety checkpoints at an individual level while a school based instructional program can help to prevent the problem at a community level. To begin with, drunk driving is a serious menace to Americans on the road, as it contributes to a large number of traffic deaths and injuries. In 2012, for instance, over 10,000 people lost their lives from crashes attributed to drunk driving. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historically, women are excluded from the pornography consumer sitting. However, some people began to notice the demand of women in sexual fantasy space in this century. Is using marijuana for the medicinal purpose alone any different, when looking at it from an ethical standpoint, then using it for enjoyment?
