Emmett Barcalow Moral Egoism Analysis
Capitalism is more than an economic system it is, in many ways, a philosophical view of life, a
belief in how people should act and how the world should be. Capitalism even spills over into
ethical decisions, based on a theory called Moral Egoism. Emmett Barcalow introduces the
concept of Moral Egoism in chapter four of the third edition of his textbook, Moral Philosophy, on
page 71. He describes Moral Egoismas the belief that one should make moral decisions based on
one s own self interest. Moral Egoism allows for behavior as genuinely helpful and benign as
eating well and staying fit since you would do this to boost your personal health, which is in your
self interest and as sinister as lying, cheating, stealing, and even murdering since

Analysis Of As You Like It, A Play Written By William...
As you like it, a play written by William Shakespeare in 1623, is a comical interpretation of the
antithesis that exists between living in nature versus living in a society. The play addresses
philosophical dilemmas that are directly connect to the behavior of the characters. Throughout the
comparison of these two settings, the reader is exposed to various levels of human interaction. The
first one relates to how the characters participate as a community. And the second one approaches
familial relationships that demonstrate individual fluctuations depending of where the characters
interact. To capture this theme, the author relies on the use of juxtaposition and dynamic
characters. Consequently, Shakespeare highlights the irony of human behaviorby exposing dynamic
characters to two different settings, The Forest of Ardenand the Court. The playultimately suggests
that interacting with nature creates a utopian society that contrasts with a hierarchical court, thus
demonstrating how the characters can reinvent themselves in roles that were inaccessible to them
before. Initially, the play begins by introducing a familial conflict between two brothers, Orlando
and Oliver. Orlando is the starting character of the play and his dialogue describes how his brother
treats him. He states that, My brother...keeps me rustically at home (4). He continues emphasizing
the evilness of his brother s treatment by mentioning that horses are bred better (4) and how

The Airline And International Airlines
Before 1985, Dubai was primarily served by Gulf air. Gulf air was based out of Bahrain, a
neighbouring country. It was struggling financially and began to cut back its flights to Dubai. This
presented a dire need, we saw an opportunity and ceased it with utter determination and an
outstanding vision. As a result, Dubai s government started the airline in 1985(McGinley,2010).
The airline started with two aircrafts, which were leased by Pakistan International Airlines(PIA).
PIA took administrative and its flight crew training responsibilities for Fly Emirates for the first
few years of its operations(McGinley,2010). Fly Emirates began to expand. In 1990, it was the
world fastest growing airline(Heasley,2010) Since its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Un And The Eu Using Rationalist Approach Essay
Summary:
Realists argue IOs are only forums in which states pursue their interests. I believe that this is
wrong to begin with, as IOs are more than forums to realise states self interest. They are also
largely important for other means, essentially, in maintaining world peace and order. This paper
will mainly explore on two most controversial IOs that are the UN and the EU using Rationalist
approach. To support the argument, this research will use two relatable in depth cases that are the
2011 Military Intervention in Libya and the European Union (EU) on the Syrian refugee crisis to
demonstrate if IOs are only forums for states to pursue their interest or not. The research is
important to inform the readers that IOs are not simply a medium for states personal gain, but also
to cover the betterment of the world.
Thesis Statement:
I believe that IOs are not only forums for states to pursue their interests as argued by the realists,
but also significantly important in maintaining world peace and order as to prevent further
imbalance of power among them, and this will be proven using Rationalist approach on the 2011
Military Intervention on Libya and the EU on the Syrian Refugee crisis.
Research Question/s:
Q1: Given that states only use IOs as forums to pursue their interests as conceptualised by
Realists, why do states often found look up to IOs to work for the betterment of the world as well?
Does it have anything to do with personal agenda/s and what does Rationalist

Allusions In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
In the middle ages, society assumed that friars were always impeccable. Most friars expressed that
they served Christ with their preaching, blessing, and begging for gifts. Chaucer mocks the
assumption about religious figures by labeling religious figures in The Canterbury Tales as
hypocrites. In The Summoner s Tale of The Canterbury Tales
, Chaucer uses allusion, imagery, and
the archetypal theme of good vs. evil in order to depict the friar as a hypocritical religious dignitary.
Chaucer uses allusions to numerous Biblical figures, such as Satan and Christ Jesus. The friar,
while presenting his lecture, references countless individuals and stories from the Bible. He
does so in order to tell Thomas, the ill man, that his anger and spite have been the reasons he is
so frail. You lie here full of anger, full of ire, / With which the devil you re your heart afire, / And
chide this humble innocent your wife, / Who s been so meek and patient in her strife (1981 1985).
In the quote, the friar describes Thomas soul as being possessed by the devil, being the ... Show

Chaucer uses a quote on line 2122 that says: He would like to see the friar on fire. That quote is
significant because Thomas irritation by the friar has been increasing. Another important
significance of the quote shows how the friar has the potential to be more devil like, full of ire.
The friar s potential becomes a reality when Thomas farted in the friar s hand. As ridiculous as it
sounds, the friar felt like the fart was the devil possessing him. He went forth on his way
consumed with ire (2158). Ire epitomized evil and the devil. The friar had become evil,
representing malevolence. The anger in him raging like a fire (2166). The anger continues,
showing how the friar s anger continued building up within. Chaucer was able to use archetypal
theme to ridicule the friar, and other religious figures of the time

The Reaction Of Zinc And Iron
Discussion:
As only 2 balloons expanded in size, the results did not provide solid evidence to completely
support the hypothesis of the practical. Having said that, the magnesium reaction time clarified its
high metal reactivity as it expanded to its optimal circumference in the 30 seconds provided.
Similarly, copper did not react at all as expected due to its low metal reactivity. However, between
the maximum and minimum metals, in terms of reactivity, aluminium, zinc and iron showed no sign
of expansion in the 30 second observational time limits. Nevertheless, the aluminium balloon
expanded after approximately 40 minutes. As neither zinc nor iron reacted in this time span, it was
confirmed that aluminium had the second highest metal reactivity, as anticipated from the
hypothesis. After the first, second and last metals in the metal reactivity series were established,
the remainder had to be observed for their chemical reactions to make a valid conclusion under the
time constraint provided. From the observations between zinc and iron, it was perceived that zinc
was more reactive due to which more bubbles and gas had formed in the test tube containing acid
as opposed to iron where only occasional bubbles had developed. The metal reactivity series was
confirmed from the balloon expansions and the chemical changes that occurred.
This experiment was designed on the basis of previously obtained knowledge of metals and their
reactivity with acids. It is known that when metals

The Effects Of Histrionic Personality Disorder On Young...
Social media websites and activities such as Facebook, Instagram, Blogs, and open forums
allows people to seek the attention from others. Apps and websites that focus on a persons
appearance affects how one might think of themselves. The self esteem of Young adults and
adolescence ages 15+ are greatly affected. The thought of being appealing and gaining status is a
target for young adults to change their color or dark personality traits as an accommodation
(Furnham, 2014). Posting self portraits of oneself in a provocative position, videos illustrating a
wild personality are behaviors will lead to instant gratification that a typical young adult craves.
Various factors such as cell phone use, the likely hood one might join a site based on the big five

emotion. When one might feel that they are losing the attention of others, they habitually behave in
outlandish behavior in which they dramatize their actions, flirt, perform sexual movements, and

Causes Of Strokes
Each year more than 795,000 Americans have a stroke. Strokes are the fifth leading cause of
death for Americans but the risk of having a stroke varies with race and ethnicity. African
Americans are more likely to die because the risk of having a first stroke is nearly twice as high for
African Americans. Hispanics risk for a strokeis between whites and blacks. Age also has an impact
on strokes as well. A risk of a stroke increases with age, strokes can and will occur at any age. But
what causes people to have strokes? What exactly causes a stroke? A stroke occurs when blood
supply to the brain is reduced. This deprives the brain of oxygen and the nutrients, which causes
brain cells to die. It can also be caused by a blocked arteryor the leaking of a blood vessel.
Mayoclinic.org says that about 85% of strokes are ischemic strokes. They also said that ischemic
strokes occur when the arteries to the brain become narrowed, causing severely reduced blood flow.

The Rising Cost Of Healthcare
Introduction
There have been many studies performed focusing on the rising costs of health care and some of
the findings state that the rising cost of healthcare premiums is a worldwide problem. However,
I believe they are higher in the U.S. In 2015, U.S. health care costs were $3.2 trillion. That makes
healthcare one of the largest U.S. industries, equaling 17.8 % of the Gross Domestic Product
(GDP) in comparison to the late 1960s; where healthcare costs were only $27 billion, or 5% of the
GDP, which averaged $9,990 per person each year. The main reason for the rising costof healthcare
is a combination of government policies and lifestyles changes. Examples included lack of
coverage or costly coverage, lack of available coverage for ... Show more content on

It was something I needed so I could not refrain from purchasing it; had I met the deductible it
would have cost me only fifty dollars. Cancer is another example. In an article written by
oncologist Lacie Glover, her concern was about the rising cost of cancer treatment, newly
approved cancer drug costs of an average of $10,000 per month, and therapy costs averaging
$30,000 per month. A patient typically pays 20 30% out of pocket for drugs. Therefore, the year s
average cost of new cancer medications would $26,000 $36,000, in addition to their health insurance
premiums. If you wonder why insurance premiums are constantly on the rise, reflecting on the
illnesses and costs to treat them.
How could we create a decrease in insurance premiums? health care specialists and physicians
should share one set of tests annually sending patient to test blood work, procedures are costly
and each test is billing separately to the insurance company. To elaborate, if a patient did a
physical and blood work yearly other physicians should get access to it within that year if there
should be the need for blood work, I would think that they should be able to use that blood
similar an X ray scan. One of my main point to my statement is that I did a complete annual lab,
and less than a month I needed blood work for insurance purposes and I had to do everything all
over, that was very unnecessary if tests are continually being repeated there is also the possibility of
overtreating,

Chemical Dependency And Substance Abuse
Many people have turned to substance abuse or experience chemical dependency for a variety of
reasons. Nurses experience chemical dependency as well. According to Kunyk (2013), healthcare
professionals, including nurses, are also potentially vulnerable to substance use disorders
regardless of any special knowledge, skills or insights they might have owing to their education
and professional experiences (p. 54). This paper will define what chemical dependency is, report
causes of chemical dependency in nurses, describe behaviors associated with chemical dependency,
and explain what needs to be done upon reentry into the work place.
First of all, chemical dependency or substance abuse is a more specific term for addiction. Addiction
is defined as a compulsive and maladaptive dependency on a substance (alcohol, cocaine, opioids)
or a behavior (gambling, viewing pornography) (Kaiser, 2011, p.113), while chemical dependency
specifically pertains to the dependency of a substance. Kaiser (2011) states that there are
consequences to chemical dependency, whether it be psychological, physical, economic, social, or
legal (p. 113). When one overuses substances such as alcohol, opioids, or amphetamines, there is a
chance that the body will get used to the chemical effects of the drugs. This can lead to tolerance
and eventually withdrawal. Tolerance represents a cellular adaptation in a pharmacologically active
substance so that increasingly larger doses are required to produce

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Having An Accredited Program
Professional Accreditation Pros and Cons
Pros
Most of the Pros of having an accredited program appear to be well known. Accreditation is a
feather in one s cap because it is a conferring of an honours degree in the field. Accreditation states
that the program has been peer evaluated and found worthy . Accreditation allows the program to be
more visible in an honorable manner to other professionals in the same field, to allied professionals,
and also to the outside hiring world. Programs that are accredited attract highly qualified faculty and
students than programs that are not accredited. Accredited programs typically conduct routine

Myth Of Anger Essay
Therapists have seen many years of progressive and ever changing rules regarding proper ways to
deal with emotions. These emotions range from happiness to extreme sadness to anger. A very
prominent myth that almost everyone has heard is It s better to express anger to others than to
hold it in (Lilienfeld 147). For clarity s sake, Scott Lilienfeld, Steven Lynn, John Ruscio, and Barry
Beyerstein intended this to mean that violently expressing anger is worse. Anger is a very delicate
and strong emotionthat has a very strong influence over millions of people. As discussed in 50
Great Myths of Popular Psychology, aggressively displaying anger has shown to be worse than
channeling it in a constructive and calm manner. Many people continue... Show more content on

People take the word of broadcasters as gospel, no longer seeking the help of professionals.
There are plenty of explosive characters in movies and shows, and people find a way to relate
with them. They believe that by blowing up over their anger will result similarly to the falsity
portrayed by television. Lastly, Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc Reasoning is a major factor in why
people believe that aggressively displaying anger is useful. People often mistakenly attribute the
fact that they feel better after they express anger to catharsis, rather than to the fact that anger
usually subsides on its own after a while. (Lilienfeld 151) This quote from 50 Great Myths of
Popular Psychology accurately captures the misconception that is commonly faced with this myth.
Correlation does not equal causation, and this is something that people often forget. If people
knew that this fact was actually a myth, it could save relationships, marriages, families, and lives.
Dealing with anger in a level headed manner is crucial to developing a better sense of control over
said anger issue. There have been many studies conducted to evaluate anger management; Art
Markman PhD. analyzed a social experiment that placed people in situations that would anger them
and then allowed half to punch something and the other half to do nothing. The results are as

Professional, Ethical, and Legal Issues in Human Services
Michal Cash
BSHS332/Professional, Ethical, and Legal Issues in Human Services
Introduction Every day people are faced with dilemmas within their work place. Some of those
dilemmas are minor while others are major and go against the ethics that people have. Some of
them not only go against one s personal ethics, but work ethics as well. Some are able to look past
these dilemmas and continue on while others can t and feel the needs to confront the person or
person s that are involved. One has to remember that their values maybe different than others and
that is more so true within the work place than anywhere else s. The work place is full off

She does not feel comfortable going and confronting the teacher, but the principle will not do
anything to help her in the dilemma she is in. The teacher s assistant tells herself that she has done
what she is supposed to do and that got her nowhere. From now on if any situation arises like this
one she will not go to the principle, but to the administration over the principle because she know
believes that even if she goes to the principle she will not do anything to the teacher.
Conclusion
The biggest dilemma that we as humans face in the work place is what we as individuals see as
personal values may not be the same values that everyone else holds. We are each our own
individual and we have all been raised in different cultures with different values. We all come
together within the work place to not just do a job, but to try and work together with people that
are different from ourselves. When we find ourselves in a dilemma that goes against our ethics, one
has to ask themselves, how does this affect my values, and does it affect our values so much that we
need to report it to a higher authority . Educating the mind without educating the heart is no
education at all (Quotes About Ethics, 2012). If one see something that goes against their personal
values and does nothing about it than they need to reevaluate their values. If it is something
important to them, than they will do everything within their power to stop whatever they see is
wrong.

Fahrenheit 452
In our 21st century today, it is somewhat precise to how Ray Bradbury portrayed the future in his
novel Fahrenheit 451. Mildred Montag s fate really matches up to the people in our society.
Mildred, like many people today, are constantly on their technology devices and having no interest
in the outside world. If more and more people in our word become like Mrs. Montag, then we will
start losing interest in people and the world outside of technology.
Bradbury reveals to the readers that Mildred Montag has short term memory. Mildred easily
forgets what happened the night before when she overdosed on sleeping pills. Maybe you took
two pills and forgot and took two more, and forgot again and took two more, and were so dopey

The things you re looking for, Montag, are in the world, but the only way the average chap will
ever see ninety nine per cent of them is in a book. Don t ask for guarantees. And don t look to be
saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you
drown, at least die knowing you were headed for shore (Bradbury 86). I believe that in the future,
when hard covered or soft covered books don t exist anymore because books can now be
purchased on any type of device or because people don t really read nowadays, we will for sure
miss books one day. Our world today does not read books as often as in the past because movies
are constantly being made from books and most people don t feel the need to read it, if they are
just going to go watch the movie. Reading books to me is like living in a different world because
it makes me see more of the struggles that people in our society face without me having to
actually experience it. I love the feeling of putting myself in the shoes of the main character and
seeing the journeys they go through with heartbreak, solving mysteries, or living in poverty and
finding ways to survive. I am most 100% sure that that is what Faber was trying to tell Montag and
Bradbury was saying to his readers. In Fahrenheit 451, there are many characters fates that match
up to our own fates. Mildred is an obsessed television watcher who talks to people as if she is

Pompei Essay
Are the remains in Pompeii and indication of how the Ancient Romans lived? The city of Pompeii
has been frozen in time since the early afternoon of 24th August 79CE. A gigantic time capsule,
illustrating the everyday life of ancient Romans, has captured the last moments of at least two
thousand people. Pompeii had remained mostly untouched up until 1594 when building an
aqueduct, upon uncovering the ashes that worked as a preservative, they found the ruins of a once
great town. Casts of people showed their dying moments, gold and precious household items
littered the streets. (Staff, 2010) From the ruins of the city, it is reasonable to assume that the rest
of Roman society was much the same as Pompeii was at the time of the eruption. (Whipps, 2007)
The 24th August began just as every other day for the citizens of Pompeii. However the warning of
an earthquake sixteen years earlier did not warn them of the incoming danger. Mount... Show more

Pompeii s amphitheatre was built shortly after 80 BCE; this causes it to become the oldest known
example of its kind in the Roman world. Any event hosted in the amphitheatre was strongly
publicised and well attended. These attendee s were not just the citizens of Pompeii, but many of
the spectators were from the surrounding villages. (Western Australian Museum, n/d) It is
recorded at in 59 CE, a riot broke out between Pompeian fans and the citizens of the nearby town
of Nuceria, and as a result, the amphitheatre was closed for a decade. A gentler form of
entertainment, with less gore, was that of theatrical performances. Pompeii s theatre was old, built
originally in the second century BCE in the traditional Greek Style, this was later enlarged and
modernised to look similar to the Roman theatre. The drama of ancient Greece proved popular with

Bill Fontan An Internationally Reputable Composer And...
Bill Fontana is an internationally reputable composer and pioneering American sound sculptor born
April 25th 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. Since the mid to late 70 s Fontana has used sound as a
sculptural medium, able to interact and transform our perceptions of visual and architectural spaces.
Fontana is constantly engaged with the idea that at any moment there will be something musical to
hear in the coherent soundpatterns around him. His sound sculptures use the human or natural
environment surrounding as a living source of musical information, often creating multiple
networks of live listening points that relay real time acoustics to a common listening place or
sculptural site. All of Fontana s works produced over the years experiment with process of listening,
recording, relocating and representing found sound patterns. Through discussion of his works and
the process undertaken in his listening for different found sound, the technologies used in recording
and relaying of these sounds to site, and the sites themselves through his works can be seen to
complicate the idea of medium within his practice.
Links from Fontana s background can be seen to have influence upon the development of his

Case Study Of Burger King And Tim Hortons
The size of potential synergies is small as Burger King and Tim Hortons will continue working as
distinct brands. As a result, only common corporate services and several purchase savings will
enjoy any arising synergies.
2.1 Burger King First, Burger King will experience an increase in revenue after taking over Tim
Hortons (Kirby, 2014). The increase of revenue is due to the improved menu resources. However,
menu resources will not help Burger King outdo its current competitors like McDonalds. It will
only help to improve Burger King position. Improved menu resources perfectly suit the takeover s
new model of concentrating strongly on international growth. Burger King knows Tim Hortons has
been trying hard to acquire a base on United States markets for several years now despite highly
strong demand in Canada. At the same time, Burger King has been dealing with high competitive

The Physics Of Golf Ball
Fore! A Newtonian and Projectile Motion Study of the Golf Swing

Spring 2015
Figure 1 below depicts a snap shot of the compact and physics ridden entity known as a golf
swing. Taken at my home in Olympia, WA, this picture was taken moments before the impact
between my driver and the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. The game of golf is riddled with physics
concepts governing everything from the power generated in the swing, to every impact with the
ball, to even the motion of the ball in the air and on the ground. Everything is governed by and
can be explained by physics concepts. However, this paper will focus on the impact of the
clubface and the ball (governed by Newtonian physics) and then its subsequent flight in the air as
a projectile. We will look at both the first and second laws that Isaac Newton proposed as well as
the resulting equations and concepts that come into effect when the ball is launched. The paper
will conclude with a brief aside on the history surrounding the golf ball and its evolution, and
subsequently why (in terms of physics) the golf ball embodies a very unique and well known
physical form.
To begin, consider a ball resting on the tee as can be seen in Figure 1. Before the golfer even begins
his swing, we see evidence of our first physics concept. The ball is resting on the tee and is
remaining there and ceasing to move because of Newton s first law of

The Berlin Wall s Impact On Economic, Social And...
The Berlin wall had a highly significant impact on the economic, social and political relations
between West and East Europe. It stood from 1961 1989 as a physical reminder of that divide, a
daily reminder of the divide that still influences the nation today, and a physical barrier in which
138 East Germans died trying to cross. So dire was the Berlin Wallthat Heinrich Albertz, an aide to
West Berlin Mayor, compared it to as if; They are cutting up a city, cutting into living flesh without
anesthesia . Thus it can be observed that so high was its importance, that only after the Berlin wall
was abolished in that the cold warwas finally coming to an end and so traumatising was its presence
that Berlin has yet to fully recover.
In order to come to a conclusion about the impact of the Berlin wall, one must first understand the
context of which it came to be. At the end of the second world war, the disintegration of German
central authority allowed allied powers to take control of Germany. During the February of 1945,
the allied victors held the Yalta conference, a committee focused on the dismemberment of
Germany, in order to come to a conclusion on the current German question . This can be regarded as
the defining moment of which the division between East and West Europe became apparent. As
victors struggled with their losses and the defeated nations lost international favor, the Soviet Union
and USA began a power struggle to become the new global powerhouse. The Potsdam

The Pros And Cons Of The Catcher In The Rye
Did you know that you have the capability and audacity to challenge censorship? According to a
2016 study done by the American Library Association, there was been 323 cases of books being
banned or challenged across the United States. Most books are often challenged due to their use of
sexual explicitness, violence, and vulgar language. At the same time, many of these challenged
books teach moral lessons to readers. With the high number of books being challenged, not all of
them should be banned. The American Library Association provided the information stating that
only 10% of books are being challenged and taken off the shelves. This study shows that many
novels are not worthy of banning including, The Catcher in the Rye.
Written by J.D. Salinger, the book The Catcher in the Rye was published in the year 1951, and
has been the subject of constant debates and controversies. The novel has not only been the target
of ridicule and criticisms, but has also sparked an intriguing discussion on its effectiveness for use
in schools across the nation. The novel centers on the life of the sixteen year old Holden Caulfield.
The novel deals with issues such as profanity, irrational behavior, and teenage sex and has many
appropriate lessons to teenagers and youth as it teaches readers the benefits of tolerance, discipline,

How did the kings attack the church in this period? Contrast these events with ones in earlier ones
in which the pope dominated rulers.
The kings were able to control the church because the society had lost faith in the church due to the
Black Death. Kings attacked the church by taxing them and controlling who the head clergy were.
In older times there was no questioning of the church, so it was believed that if you prayed enough
your ascension was inevitable, so if the king spoke up over the church then the church would
excommunicate them and tell them they were going to hell. But when the Black Death struck, the
first reaction was that if you prayed then you would be spared but that wasn t the case because even
some popes contracted the bubonic plagued. Faith was lost in the church.

The Stereotypes Of Discrimination In The Workplace
Infringement of people s rights because of their race, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation is a
common phenomenon. This phenomenon contradicts the eternal aspirations of humanity to

to equal access to work, equal pay for equal work, equal chances of promotion, protection from

not only talk, but look for ways to protect those categories of citizens who are discriminated against.
Discrimination in the labor market is a widespread process that can be defined as the unequal
opportunities of workers with equal productivity, or the unequal treatment of employers, society,

Adaptation In The Tempest
The Tempest is believed to be the final play written by English playwright William Shakespeare
(Arnold 2009: 1). This allegorical play takes place on an exotic island and describes the master
slave relationship between Prospero the virtuous ruler and Caliban the ugly evil. Approximately
three and a half centuries later, French poet and author AimГ© CГ©saire, who objected to
colonialismand was concerned about post colonial issues, published A Tempest ( Une TempГ
Єte ),
a post colonial adaptation of Shakespeare s work.
While the two plays share the same characters and provokes similar ideal dichotomies of master
and slave; colonizer and colonized; natural and supernatural (Chan 2008: 1), there are differences,
for instance, Caliban becomes a Black slave and the ending is changed in CГ©saire s version.
Based on these alterations, some consider A Tempest not a translationof The Tempest but rather an
adaptation that stands on its own, independent of the original. In response to this view, this paper
attempts to examine the relationship between the two versions and analyze in what ways A
Tempest can and cannot be regarded a translation of The Tempest. The reason to view CГ©saire s

Translation can now be seen as a form of response that recognizes, preserves, and even multiplies

can therefore be seen as a form of dialogue with Shakespeare s original (ibid: 293). Indeed, traces

Similarities Between To Kill A Mockingbird Book And Movie
Books and movies are never exactly the same. Movies tend to leave out events that took place in
the novel and may do things not according to the novel. To Kill A Mockingbird has a few
difference and similarities between the novel and film. One of the differences, for example, is that
in the movie Dill is Miss Stephanie Crawford s nephew, but in the book Dill is actually Mrs.
Rachel s nephew. A similarity that both share is when Atticus kills the mad dog that is disturbing
the neighborhood. These are only two examples of the many similarities and differences among the
noveland film.
There are quit a few more differences between the movie and the book, To Kill A MockingBird.

Types Of Simulation Software, And Investigating Software...
There are many types of simulation software, and investigating software component metadata for
all of them is infeasible. The scope of this research is restricted to one important class of
simulation software, the area of semi automated forces (SAF) systems. As Petty describes in [14],
semi automated forces (SAF) systems are computer software systems to generate and control
autonomous entities (such as tanks, soldiers, or aircraft) in a simulation using a combination of
behavior generation algorithms and human operator commands. The SAF entities exist in a
battlefield that is a simulated subset of the real world, so the physical events and phenomena on
the battlefield must be modeled. SAF controlled entities should obey the laws of physics. The
accuracy of the SAF physics models is important to the utility of the simulation. Exactly how
accurate those models must be, depends on how the system will be used. It is not uncommon
when the real time performance of the simulation is more important than high accuracy, to have
high fidelity models replaced with lower fidelity models based on look up tables. Figure 1.1 A
screenshot from ModSAF, a SAF system. An important example of semi automated forces is One
Semi Automated Forces (OneSAF). In [15] Parsons states that OneSAF is the U. S. Army s newest
constructive battlefield simulation and SAF system. OneSAF is intended to replace a number of
legacy entity based simulations and to serve a range of applications including

Theme Of Pride In The Stone Angel
Pride In Margaret Laurence s powerful novel The Stone Angel the theme pride often displayed
through the characters. Each figure had their own way of showing this theme through both
actions and words. The recurring theme is exhibited by the behaviors of Brampton Shipley,
Hagar Shipley, and her father, Jason Currie. Hagar Shipley lived her life blind, with pride as her
cane for guidance. There was many situations throughout the novel where she made decisions
solely based off of her pride. The first example of this is when Hagar was just a little girl,
scampering around in her father s store. When she made a comment while Jason was talking
with Mrs.McVitie,a customer, he took a ruler to Hagar s hands. Despite the stinging pain, she
wouldn t cry in front of her father. She held back the tears until her father couldn t see because
that would show weakness and hurt her pride. Another example of Hagar s pride was when her
son, Marvin, went to war. When he comes to say goodbye, Hagar states that I wanted all at once
to hold him tightly, plead with him, against all reason and reality, not to go. As most mothers
would do such a thing, Hagar s pride kicks in as she reconsiders her thinking, But I did not want
to embarrass both of us, or have him think I d taken leave of my senses. This shows how
engraved pride is carved into Hagar s head. Even though her son is going into war and may die, she
can t even show him that she will worry about him. Another example that

Video Games and Violence Speech
B.Z. Smith AP Lang 1 Feb. 2013 Videogames and Violence In today s society, the vast majority
of adolescents spend their free time indoors. Many of those hours are enjoyed playing video
games, a habit which teenagers will never hear the end of from their parents. These games will
ruin you , they say, It makes you angry and violent , they say, but does it really? Media often
portrays videogames as detrimental to mental health, and this topic is especially scrutinized today
because of the sudden popularity of the recent public mass shootings and gun violence; however,
past and more recent studies show that this is absolutely not true. In fact, the positives of gaming
seem to massively outweigh the negatives. Lately there has been... Show more content on

Even the Supreme Court stands by that knowledge. In 2011 when California decided to ban minors
from purchasing games with mature content, the Supreme Court overruled that decision by 7:2,
based on the fact that it violated our first Amendment and that the judges saw no correlation
between the subjects, going so far as to state that the connection between exposure to violent video
games and harmful effects on children do not prove that such exposure causes minors to act
aggressively. Any demonstrated effects are both small and indistinguishable from effects produced
by other media. (Suzy Khimm) In the midst of everything that is happening right now, people need
a scapegoat. They need something to take all the blame, and unfortunately, videogames are just here
at the wrong place and the wrong time. CITES 1. Travis, Corte, ed. Violent Video Games, Blamed

Essay On High Grades In High School
As I made the walk into my first hour, geometry, my first day of high school; I thought to myself
I would never pass this class, I am a freshman in a sophomore class and I have not been taught any
of this before. Nervous and scared about the rest of the day and how hard my classes would be, I
looked forward to a year of low grades and failed assignments. However, this was not the case, high
schoolclasses were much different then what I had thought. Many teachers were easy on students,
gave less homeworkthan I had expected and were lenient on the homework assignments. Much
different than what I had expected, I have flown through high school with ease and superior
grades. On the other hand, as I begin to take college courses, I have learned that those grades in
High School were much easier to obtain and were of less value. High Schools have made it easier
to get higher grades, and that in turn, will affect my grades in college.
It can be seen strongly at my High School, Oologah High, that students have gotten lazier and
parents still expect teachers to hand out better grades. When enrolling and selecting classes;
students have the option to select easier, less demanding classes, yet are still rewarded with high
grades. Now, instead of taking classes that reward hard work and prepare students for the future,
they are able to pass easy classes and receive better scores. Those students who take more rigorous
courses are slated with more work, tougher assignments, and

Examinee Reflection
On February 20, 2016, I completed my fourth WISC V administration. I noticed several things that
I could have improved on as well as things that I did well on during the recorded administration.
The video began with me asking the examinee several rapport building questions. For example, I
asked him about his hobbies to get him to talk about what he liked to do in his free time. It is
important to build report with the examinee because he child is likely to be apprehensive before an
assessment. Rapport building helps increase the likelihood of a smooth administration and an
interested examinee. I didn t think my examinee was nervous, but I knew that he would have rather

One of the most obvious environmental distractions was the voice over the intercom saying that the
Russell Union was closing soon. It was unexpected to both me and the examinee because I had
never tested in that building near closing time. The intercom warning was made twice near the end
of the administration. Another distraction was my phone. I had forgotten to turn the vibrate option
on my phone off during the administration so my phone rang several times. This could have
distracted the examinee during administration and affected his performance. It should be noted that
I used my phone to text the examinee s mother back when she inquired about the status of the
administration. The examinee s mother lived about 15 minutes away from the site of the
administration and I knew that she needed time to get to the building. In the future, I will make
sure that I call or text the examinee s parent during an official break to let them know that we are

How Did The Rise Of Islam Influence Western Europe
The rise of Islam brought many important changes to Europe, both physically and culturally.
Through the many conquests of Muhammad and his successors, Muslim dominion, by the middle
of the eighth century, included all of the southern and eastern Mediterranean, as well as Spain.
Spain would serve as a point of invasion for Islamic forces into Western Europeand it would
continue to serve as an Islamic state up until 1492 when its last territory (Granada) fell to Christian
forces. Muslim control of the regions south and east of the Mediterranean led to their domination of
the Mediterranean sea and all the European trade that went on there. All of this contributed to a
deep mistrust of Islamfrom Europeans, which would make way for the persecutions

Exploring the Main Concepts of Advertising
How many of you listened to the radio, watched television, or glanced at a magazine before
school this morning? Whether you realized it or not the minute you pressed the power button or
flipped the cover page you were exposed to some sort of advertisement. Defined as any paid form
of communication by an identified sponsor, advertising dominates a huge part of our daily lives.
Living in such a consumer driven economy means that we deal with subliminal and up front
messages pushing us to buy, buy, buy , countless times throughout our day. Most of these messages
are sent by identified sponsors including major corporations like Wal Mart, as well as smaller run
businesses. No matter the size, all modern day businesses employ workers to... Show more content

The success of these advertisements must be measured. Marketers often conduct surveys and
questionnaires to pull information about their products from the marketplace. Information gathered
like this for a specific purpose is known as primary research. Marketers can draw a lot of valuable
knowledge from primary research. Such as images and ideas consumers associate with certain
brands, a concept known as brand image. Primary research also evaluates levels consumer
satisfaction. Following a product purchase, the buyer experience either satisfaction with their
decision or cognitive dissonance, when one regrets their recent purchase. This regret often
corresponds with the amount of involvement and thought put into a purchase. As a consumer, you
most likely think less about buying a bag of Cheetos versus buying a new IPod. When it comes to
Cheetos you know what you re getting, not much variation involved. However, an iPod offers
multiple opportunities for customization and upgrades that the consumer must carefully consider
relative to the price they are willing to pay. In this sense, buying Cheetos requires far less consumer
purchase involvement then the purchase of a new iPod. All of these factors contribute to the
overall satisfaction associated with a product. The results of conducted primary research help
marketers decipher elements of their advertising strategy that need tweaking. Essentially, the

The Horror Of The Vietnam War
Well Done
Since the Vietnam War was fought in Southeast Asia, it is difficult for many Americans to imagine
what the people of South Vietnam experienced during the Vietnam War. To better understand, the
American people had to rely on eye witness accounts, film clips, and photographs. One photograph
in particular captures the horror of the Vietnam War. It is the image of Phan Phuc, a naked, nine year
old, South Vietnamese girl, taken on June 8, 1972, by Nick Ut. The photograph shows the horrors
of napalm, the emotionless soldiers, and photo journalists, and children suffering.
Jets tear through the air over a green jungle in Vietnam. What is a beautiful, peaceful, thriving
jungle, with villages and families will soon be a charred ash pit with nothing but the lingering
feeling of what once was. As bombs drop and the liquid fire races through the jungle, everything
in its path is destroyed. Trees that have stood the test of time, burned over. Resource providing
plants turned to ash. People s homes and everything they have, destroyed. They flee, screaming
for their lives. Mothers and fathers separated from their families. Children left to die in a burning
jungle. While some make it out, most are likely charred to crisp. Left homeless, with nowhere to
go. Bodies lie on the scorched jungle floor like burnt pines in a California wildfire. The smell of
burnt flesh burns your nostrils. Thick, black smog fills the air and begins to flatten out over the

Police Privacy Concerns
1.3 Privacy Concerns
While police are utilizing body cameras, it is vital to ensure privacy and confidentiality for any
information or person videotaped. That is why it is necessary for police departments to have
detailed guidelines in place. Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier recently cautioned that the
video footage will capture a broad range of information including police communications,
passwords and interiors of private residences that would need to be redacted before releasing video
(Vega, 2015, par. 7). This will take a good deal of time and resources as millions of hours of video
recordings will need to be stored and analyzed (Vega, 2015). Also, body cams worn by police could

According to the National Institute of Justice, at the end of 2013 only 25% of the 18,000 police
departments in the United States were using body cameras (Maney, 2014). This number has
increased greatly since 2013 as one third of police departments are now outfitting policemen
with wearable cameras (Delong, 2015). The American Civil Liberties Union has voiced
concerns about privacy regarding footage recorded on body cameras and has asked questions
about whether the scene like that of a suicide or domestic battery be made public (Vega, 2015). In
response to concerns about privacy, the President of Citizen s for Privacy authorized this study to

Review of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance
Nathaniel Hawthorne used the term romance to refer to his longer fictions the year before
writing The Blithedale Romance, he chose to define the term for the benefit of his readers:
When a writer calls his work a romance, it need hardly be observed that he wishes to claim a
certain latitude, both as to its fashion and material, which he would not have felt himself
entitled to assume, had he professed to be writing a novel. The latter form of composition is
presumed to aim at a very minute fidelity, not merely to the possible, but to the probable and
ordinary course of man s experience. The former while, as a work of art, it must rigidly subject
itself to laws, and while it sins unpardonably so far as it may swerve aside from the truth of the
human heart has fairly a right to present that truth under circumstances, to a great extent, of the
writer s own choosing or creation. If he think fit, also, he may so manage his atmospherical
medium as to bring out or mellow the lights, and deepen and enrich the shadows, of the picture. (
Preface ) For Hawthorne, the novel is meant to be realistic, marked by a fidelity to the probable and
ordinary events of human life. But romance, in Hawthorne s definition, is allowed to stray from
strict realism, but must be accurate about the truth of the human heart . In the case of The
Blithedale Romance, however, Hawthorne was nonetheless working with real and autobiographical
material the community of Blithedale in the novel is

Pharmacy Technician Vs Pharmacist
The biggest difference between a pharmacist and a pharmacy tech is the schooling that is required.
Pharmacists have to attend at least six years of schooling while pharmacy technicians only have to
have a high school diploma. In some states, there are certification programs to become a pharmacy
tech while other states have on the job training. When it comes what their jobs qualify them to do,
pharmacisttechs basically just assist the pharmacist. The pharmacist techs can not give medical
advice to patients, only assist the pharmacists. By assisting the pharmacist, they can accept
prescriptions. The pharmacist just has to review and approve the medications before they are able
to give it to the patients.

Economic uncertainty, coupled with the retirement of the baby boomers, skyrocketing medical

acting upon this, by enacting a policy beginning in 2017 and ending in 2036, to gradually increase

Even though, the increase is small employees and employers are going to feel it in theirs pockets
and checkbooks; leading towards an already declining labor force and corporation downsize.
The tax increase is a bad idea as it can discourage those looking for employment and those trying
to retire. While tax increases are wonderful long term, the short term effects seem too risky to
chance during the tough economic situation we are currently involved in. Overall, the proposals
both seem like bad policies. Our young workers deserve to have the long term benefits they are
both working and paying for now, readily available at retirement and without proper reform that
may not come to fruition.
Although, compromise is needed to close the gap and create revenue for Social Security for future
generations, how can one morally stand by and take from another because of their salary or
increase their taxes and employer payments. Collectively, our lawmakers and economist need to
come together and think or the people rather than the numbers and focus on our morals, and most
importantly to help one another.

younger generation, and the old generation. Thus, due to the cultural differences, it is difficult for

Economic difficulties seem to be a widespread theme throughout the books this semester.
Obviously, it is difficult to get a well paying job in a new country without proper education or
without being proficient with the language. How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accent highlights the

Previously, I had not considered the numerous difficulties in the US Latina experience. I knew
about the racism and stereotyping these people have faced for years in the US. Thus, it came as
no surprise that the authors presented instances of explicit racism and stereotyping.
Additionally, most of the books take place in the 1950 s and 60 s which highlights the racism
Latina s experienced during this time period. However, the racism continues after 9/11 in
Cepeda s memoir Bird of Paradise, which shows that racist attitudes towards Latin American s
have not dwindled over the years, but are still prevalent in our society today. Knowing the
racism Latina s continue to face today, I believe it can become difficult for Latin American s to
truly feel as if they belong in this country. For instance, the study conducted by Parra Cardona, et
al. asked both foreign born and U.S. born Latina parents questions regarding family life, and
experiences in America. Unsurprisingly, the research found that both foreign born and U.S. born
Latinas have experienced discrimination in America. One mother recalls: I remember a lot of

wanted to be White... Life would have been a lot easier (В¶ 34). It is difficult to truly relate to the

Climate Change Is Induced By Man s Carelessness And Lack...
Climate change is the acceleration in regular surface temperatures on Earth. Even small increments
in Earth s temperature provoked by climate change can have serious effects. The Earth s median
temperature has gone up 1.4 ВєF over the past century and is awaited to rise as much as 11.5 ВєF
over the next (Banerjee, 2015). That might not look like a lot, but the average temperature during
the last ice Age was about 4 ВєF lower than it is today. The climate of the planet is constantly
changing. This change is not something new; it is a very old concept, perhaps since the birth of the
universe. The factors or deduction for the climate changecan be split into two sides. One side is of
the opinion that this is a natural course that will and has to develop, whereas the other side
believes that the change has taken place because of the human activities on the earth. Climate
change is induced by man s carelessness and lack of interest. We need to make a change in order to
provide a safe environment for future generations.
Currently, scientists are changing their opinion and saying that the process of development is
natural. some well known people, for instance, Nobel Prize Winning Stanford University
Physicist Dr. Robert B. Laughlin, who won the Nobel Prize for physics in 1998, and was before a
research scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory said Please remain calm: The Earth
will heal itself. Climate is beyond our power to control...Earth doesn t care about

As a young girl Nelson Mandela was an inspiration to me. My grandparents raised me, my

who was in prison because he fought for what he believed in truly fascinated me. My grandpa, who

  • 2. Emmett Barcalow Moral Egoism Analysis Capitalism is more than an economic system it is, in many ways, a philosophical view of life, a belief in how people should act and how the world should be. Capitalism even spills over into ethical decisions, based on a theory called Moral Egoism. Emmett Barcalow introduces the concept of Moral Egoism in chapter four of the third edition of his textbook, Moral Philosophy, on page 71. He describes Moral Egoismas the belief that one should make moral decisions based on one s own self interest. Moral Egoism allows for behavior as genuinely helpful and benign as eating well and staying fit since you would do this to boost your personal health, which is in your self interest and as sinister as lying, cheating, stealing, and even murdering since ... • 3. Analysis Of As You Like It, A Play Written By William... As you like it, a play written by William Shakespeare in 1623, is a comical interpretation of the antithesis that exists between living in nature versus living in a society. The play addresses philosophical dilemmas that are directly connect to the behavior of the characters. Throughout the comparison of these two settings, the reader is exposed to various levels of human interaction. The first one relates to how the characters participate as a community. And the second one approaches familial relationships that demonstrate individual fluctuations depending of where the characters interact. To capture this theme, the author relies on the use of juxtaposition and dynamic characters. Consequently, Shakespeare highlights the irony of human behaviorby exposing dynamic characters to two different settings, The Forest of Ardenand the Court. The playultimately suggests that interacting with nature creates a utopian society that contrasts with a hierarchical court, thus demonstrating how the characters can reinvent themselves in roles that were inaccessible to them before. Initially, the play begins by introducing a familial conflict between two brothers, Orlando and Oliver. Orlando is the starting character of the play and his dialogue describes how his brother treats him. He states that, My brother...keeps me rustically at home (4). He continues emphasizing the evilness of his brother s treatment by mentioning that horses are bred better (4) and how animals on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Un And The Eu Using Rationalist Approach Essay Summary: Realists argue IOs are only forums in which states pursue their interests. I believe that this is wrong to begin with, as IOs are more than forums to realise states self interest. They are also largely important for other means, essentially, in maintaining world peace and order. This paper will mainly explore on two most controversial IOs that are the UN and the EU using Rationalist approach. To support the argument, this research will use two relatable in depth cases that are the 2011 Military Intervention in Libya and the European Union (EU) on the Syrian refugee crisis to demonstrate if IOs are only forums for states to pursue their interest or not. The research is important to inform the readers that IOs are not simply a medium for states personal gain, but also to cover the betterment of the world. Thesis Statement: I believe that IOs are not only forums for states to pursue their interests as argued by the realists, but also significantly important in maintaining world peace and order as to prevent further imbalance of power among them, and this will be proven using Rationalist approach on the 2011 Military Intervention on Libya and the EU on the Syrian Refugee crisis. Research Question/s: Q1: Given that states only use IOs as forums to pursue their interests as conceptualised by Realists, why do states often found look up to IOs to work for the betterment of the world as well? Does it have anything to do with personal agenda/s and what does Rationalist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Allusions In Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales In the middle ages, society assumed that friars were always impeccable. Most friars expressed that they served Christ with their preaching, blessing, and begging for gifts. Chaucer mocks the assumption about religious figures by labeling religious figures in The Canterbury Tales as hypocrites. In The Summoner s Tale of The Canterbury Tales , Chaucer uses allusion, imagery, and the archetypal theme of good vs. evil in order to depict the friar as a hypocritical religious dignitary. Chaucer uses allusions to numerous Biblical figures, such as Satan and Christ Jesus. The friar, while presenting his lecture, references countless individuals and stories from the Bible. He does so in order to tell Thomas, the ill man, that his anger and spite have been the reasons he is so frail. You lie here full of anger, full of ire, / With which the devil you re your heart afire, / And chide this humble innocent your wife, / Who s been so meek and patient in her strife (1981 1985). Chaucer uses a quote on line 2122 that says: He would like to see the friar on fire. That quote is significant because Thomas irritation by the friar has been increasing. Another important significance of the quote shows how the friar has the potential to be more devil like, full of ire. The friar s potential becomes a reality when Thomas farted in the friar s hand. As ridiculous as it sounds, the friar felt like the fart was the devil possessing him. He went forth on his way consumed with ire (2158). Ire epitomized evil and the devil. The friar had become evil, representing malevolence. The anger in him raging like a fire (2166). The anger continues, showing how the friar s anger continued building up within. • 10. The Reaction Of Zinc And Iron Discussion: As only 2 balloons expanded in size, the results did not provide solid evidence to completely support the hypothesis of the practical. Having said that, the magnesium reaction time clarified its high metal reactivity as it expanded to its optimal circumference in the 30 seconds provided. Similarly, copper did not react at all as expected due to its low metal reactivity. However, between the maximum and minimum metals, in terms of reactivity, aluminium, zinc and iron showed no sign of expansion in the 30 second observational time limits. Nevertheless, the aluminium balloon expanded after approximately 40 minutes. As neither zinc nor iron reacted in this time span, it was confirmed that aluminium had the second highest metal reactivity, as anticipated from the hypothesis. After the first, second and last metals in the metal reactivity series were established, the remainder had to be observed for their chemical reactions to make a valid conclusion under the time constraint provided. From the observations between zinc and iron, it was perceived that zinc was more reactive due to which more bubbles and gas had formed in the test tube containing acid as opposed to iron where only occasional bubbles had developed. The metal reactivity series was confirmed from the balloon expansions and the chemical changes that occurred. This experiment was designed on the basis of previously obtained knowledge of metals and their reactivity with acids. It is known that when metals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That makes healthcare one of the largest U.S. industries, equaling 17.8 % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in comparison to the late 1960s; where healthcare costs were only $27 billion, or 5% of the GDP, which averaged $9,990 per person each year. A patient typically pays 20 30% out of pocket for drugs. Therefore, the year s average cost of new cancer medications would $26,000 $36,000, in addition to their health insurance premiums. If you wonder why insurance premiums are constantly on the rise, reflecting on the illnesses and costs to treat them. How could we create a decrease in insurance premiums? health care specialists and physicians should share one set of tests annually sending patient to test blood work, procedures are costly and each test is billing separately to the insurance company. To elaborate, if a patient did a physical and blood work yearly other physicians should get access to it within that year if there should be the need for blood work, I would think that they should be able to use that blood similar an X ray scan. One of my main point to my statement is that I did a complete annual lab, and less than a month I needed blood work for insurance purposes and I had to do everything all over, that was very unnecessary if tests are continually being repeated there is also the possibility of overtreating, ... • 15. Chemical Dependency And Substance Abuse Many people have turned to substance abuse or experience chemical dependency for a variety of reasons. Nurses experience chemical dependency as well. According to Kunyk (2013), healthcare professionals, including nurses, are also potentially vulnerable to substance use disorders regardless of any special knowledge, skills or insights they might have owing to their education and professional experiences (p. 54). This paper will define what chemical dependency is, report causes of chemical dependency in nurses, describe behaviors associated with chemical dependency, and explain what needs to be done upon reentry into the work place. First of all, chemical dependency or substance abuse is a more specific term for addiction. Addiction is defined as a compulsive and maladaptive dependency on a substance (alcohol, cocaine, opioids) or a behavior (gambling, viewing pornography) (Kaiser, 2011, p.113), while chemical dependency specifically pertains to the dependency of a substance. Kaiser (2011) states that there are consequences to chemical dependency, whether it be psychological, physical, economic, social, or legal (p. 113). When one overuses substances such as alcohol, opioids, or amphetamines, there is a chance that the body will get used to the chemical effects of the drugs. This can lead to tolerance and eventually withdrawal. Tolerance represents a cellular adaptation in a pharmacologically active substance so that increasingly larger doses are required to produce ... • 18. Myth Of Anger Essay Therapists have seen many years of progressive and ever changing rules regarding proper ways to deal with emotions. These emotions range from happiness to extreme sadness to anger. A very prominent myth that almost everyone has heard is It s better to express anger to others than to hold it in (Lilienfeld 147). For clarity s sake, Scott Lilienfeld, Steven Lynn, John Ruscio, and Barry Beyerstein intended this to mean that violently expressing anger is worse. Anger is a very delicate and strong emotionthat has a very strong influence over millions of people. As discussed in 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology, aggressively displaying anger has shown to be worse than channeling it in a constructive and calm manner. Many people continue... There are plenty of explosive characters in movies and shows, and people find a way to relate with them. They believe that by blowing up over their anger will result similarly to the falsity portrayed by television. Lastly, Post Hoc, Ergo Propter Hoc Reasoning is a major factor in why people believe that aggressively displaying anger is useful. People often mistakenly attribute the fact that they feel better after they express anger to catharsis, rather than to the fact that anger usually subsides on its own after a while. (Lilienfeld 151) This quote from 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology accurately captures the misconception that is commonly faced with this myth. Correlation does not equal causation, and this is something that people often forget. If people knew that this fact was actually a myth, it could save relationships, marriages, families, and lives. Dealing with anger in a level headed manner is crucial to developing a better sense of control over said anger issue. There have been many studies conducted to evaluate anger management; Art Markman PhD. analyzed a social experiment that placed people in situations that would anger them and then allowed half to punch something and the other half to do nothing. We are each our own individual and we have all been raised in different cultures with different values. We all come together within the work place to not just do a job, but to try and work together with people that are different from ourselves. When we find ourselves in a dilemma that goes against our ethics, one has to ask themselves, how does this affect my values, and does it affect our values so much that we need to report it to a higher authority . A gigantic time capsule, illustrating the everyday life of ancient Romans, has captured the last moments of at least two thousand people. Pompeii had remained mostly untouched up until 1594 when building an aqueduct, upon uncovering the ashes that worked as a preservative, they found the ruins of a once great town. Casts of people showed their dying moments, gold and precious household items littered the streets. The game of golf is riddled with physics concepts governing everything from the power generated in the swing, to every impact with the ball, to even the motion of the ball in the air and on the ground. Everything is governed by and can be explained by physics concepts. • 40. Adaptation In The Tempest The Tempest is believed to be the final play written by English playwright William Shakespeare (Arnold 2009: 1). This allegorical play takes place on an exotic island and describes the master slave relationship between Prospero the virtuous ruler and Caliban the ugly evil. Approximately three and a half centuries later, French poet and author AimГ© CГ©saire, who objected to colonialismand was concerned about post colonial issues, published A Tempest ( Une TempГ Єte ), a post colonial adaptation of Shakespeare s work. While the two plays share the same characters and provokes similar ideal dichotomies of master and slave; colonizer and colonized; natural and supernatural (Chan 2008: 1), there are differences, for instance, Caliban becomes a Black slave and the ending is changed in CГ©saire s version. Based on these alterations, some consider A Tempest not a translationof The Tempest but rather an adaptation that stands on its own, independent of the original. In response to this view, this paper attempts to examine the relationship between the two versions and analyze in what ways A Tempest can and cannot be regarded a translation of The Tempest. • 42. Types Of Simulation Software, And Investigating Software... There are many types of simulation software, and investigating software component metadata for all of them is infeasible. The scope of this research is restricted to one important class of simulation software, the area of semi automated forces (SAF) systems. As Petty describes in [14], semi automated forces (SAF) systems are computer software systems to generate and control autonomous entities (such as tanks, soldiers, or aircraft) in a simulation using a combination of behavior generation algorithms and human operator commands. The SAF entities exist in a battlefield that is a simulated subset of the real world, so the physical events and phenomena on the battlefield must be modeled. SAF controlled entities should obey the laws of physics. The accuracy of the SAF physics models is important to the utility of the simulation. Exactly how accurate those models must be, depends on how the system will be used. It is not uncommon when the real time performance of the simulation is more important than high accuracy, to have high fidelity models replaced with lower fidelity models based on look up tables. Figure 1.1 A screenshot from ModSAF, a SAF system. An important example of semi automated forces is One Semi Automated Forces (OneSAF). In [15] Parsons states that OneSAF is the U. S. Army s newest constructive battlefield simulation and SAF system. OneSAF is intended to replace a number of legacy entity based simulations and to serve a range of applications including ... Each figure had their own way of showing this theme through both actions and words. The recurring theme is exhibited by the behaviors of Brampton Shipley, Hagar Shipley, and her father, Jason Currie. Hagar Shipley lived her life blind, with pride as her cane for guidance. There was many situations throughout the novel where she made decisions solely based off of her pride. The first example of this is when Hagar was just a little girl, scampering around in her father s store. When she made a comment while Jason was talking with Mrs.McVitie,a customer, he took a ruler to Hagar s hands. Despite the stinging pain, she wouldn t cry in front of her father. She held back the tears until her father couldn t see because that would show weakness and hurt her pride. Another example of Hagar s pride was when her son, Marvin, went to war. When he comes to say goodbye, Hagar states that I wanted all at once to hold him tightly, plead with him, against all reason and reality, not to go. As most mothers would do such a thing, Hagar s pride kicks in as she reconsiders her thinking, But I did not want to embarrass both of us, or have him think I d taken leave of my senses. This shows how engraved pride is carved into Hagar s head. Even though her son is going into war and may die, she can t even show him that she will worry about him. Another example that ... Much different than what I had expected, I have flown through high school with ease and superior grades. On the other hand, as I begin to take college courses, I have learned that those grades in High School were much easier to obtain and were of less value. Marketers often conduct surveys and questionnaires to pull information about their products from the marketplace. Information gathered like this for a specific purpose is known as primary research. Marketers can draw a lot of valuable knowledge from primary research. Such as images and ideas consumers associate with certain brands, a concept known as brand image. Primary research also evaluates levels consumer satisfaction. Following a product purchase, the buyer experience either satisfaction with their decision or cognitive dissonance, when one regrets their recent purchase. This regret often corresponds with the amount of involvement and thought put into a purchase. As a consumer, you most likely think less about buying a bag of Cheetos versus buying a new IPod. When it comes to Cheetos you know what you re getting, not much variation involved. However, an iPod offers multiple opportunities for customization and upgrades that the consumer must carefully consider relative to the price they are willing to pay. In this sense, buying Cheetos requires far less consumer purchase involvement then the purchase of a new iPod. All of these factors contribute to the overall satisfaction associated with a product. Review of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance Nathaniel Hawthorne used the term romance to refer to his longer fictions the year before writing The Blithedale Romance, he chose to define the term for the benefit of his readers: When a writer calls his work a romance, it need hardly be observed that he wishes to claim a certain latitude, both as to its fashion and material, which he would not have felt himself entitled to assume, had he professed to be writing a novel. The latter form of composition is presumed to aim at a very minute fidelity, not merely to the possible, but to the probable and ordinary course of man s experience.
