The 19th century saw the rise of advertising agencies and magazines being used to reach mass markets. The 20th century brought radio and television advertising and the growth of the advertising industry. In India, advertising began in newspapers in the early 1900s and expanded with the growth of cinema, radio, television and the internet in the post-independence decades of the 20th century.
