This document is a case study about two competing hotels, the Sunrise Hotel and Beachside Hotel, located in Goa, India. The Sunrise Hotel has higher occupancy rates and better customer satisfaction due to a strong company culture and focus on training and development. In contrast, the Beachside Hotel has lower occupancy, high employee turnover, and poor customer satisfaction. The Beachside Hotel's general manager Brian lacks a human resources background and is not involved in hiring or training. To improve performance, Brian needs to implement training programs, improve the company culture, and learn from the effective practices of the Sunrise Hotel's general manager Joe.
