Cultural Tension In Rocky IV And Office Space
Throughout history, Americans have dealt with cultural and social tensions in a number of ways. For
several decades, the nation was manipulated by fear and paranoia as the shadow of Soviet influence
continued to loom large in everyone s life. Rocky IV (1985) is an American sports film written by,
directed, and starring Sylvester Stallone. Rocky IV tells the story of world champion American boxer
Rocky Balboa (Stallone) seeking to avenge the death of a friend and defend his country s honor by
daring to travel to the Soviet Union and fight their best athlete on enemy soil. Director Mike Judge s
1999 comedy film Office Space depicts a different kind of enemy in modern America, as it satirizes
the daily grind of a typical software company and its disgruntled employees in the 1990s. By
incorporating real world elements of cultural tension, immersing the viewer into an all too familiar
environment, and mirroring the mentality of society during their respective times, Rocky IV and
Office Space effectively inspire and educate each viewer in their own unique ways. ... Show more

In the 1980s, the tension between the United States and the Soviet Union hit its peak, and certain parts
of the film parallel this historic tension. For example, when the Soviet s greatest athlete, Ivan Drago
(Dolph Lundgren), travels to America and defeats Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) on his own turf
killing him in the process it is insinuated that he is considered a war criminal for his actions. Drago s
wife is observed shouting You have this belief that your country is very good and we are so very bad .
. . that you are fair and we are so very cruel. Creed s representatives retort We don t keep our people
behind a wall with machine guns. The complexity and reality of this interaction demonstrates what
people in society during this time truly felt about their respective adversary (Lowe,

Getting The Opportunity To Get A Driver s License
Getting the opportunity to get a driver s license is very important to me. The best part about getting a
license is that I have the freedom to go where I want instead of always going where my parents want
me to go. It may be easy to get a driver s license, but I still have to remember that I have to pay gas
money, insurance, etc. Once i get these stages down I will be good and not have to worry about
anything else, right? Wrong, driving can also be dangerous and their are things you can do to prevent
those dangerous outcomes. Let s learn more about these three key features.
First, driving can give me more rights to go wherever my heart desires. It can also help me get to
places where i need to be. For example, I live in Iowa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will help me to value money instead of just spending. I need to spend my money wisely and not
spend it as soon as I get it. All of these things that I listed can cost over $35,000 depending on how
much my car is worth. Even driving a vehicle burning gas could cost over $1,500 of gas a year.
Last, but not least, driving may cost me a couple thousand dollars out of my pocket, but it can sure be
dangerous. When I m driving with people I have to remember that my life and their life are in my
hands. There are ways I can prevent reckless driving such as, always watching the road and not
drinking alcohol while I drive. Driving safely is very important, you can even go to jail behind
careless driving. In conclusion, stay safe while driving and don t get caught up in the motions.
As one can see, getting a driver s license is extremely important to me. It gives me the freedom to
drive where I want, it helps me to value money more, but it can also be dangerous. When I m driving I
will consider and look back on these features. I know these three reasons are reasons where i can be
safe and benefit from. They will stay in my life and I will never forget

who prefers to wear her brother s clothing and cover her fingernails in black sharpie marker. Daisy is
looking forward to watching a firework show on TV later that night. Judd s friends stop by and ask
him to come out with them. They seem like the overpowering, bully type of kids but Judd wants to
hang out with them and is being kept back only by Daisy, so she relents and they all leave together.
First, they stop at a convenience store where the boys send Daisy to do their dirty work for them. She

Early Psychosis Intervention ( Epi ) Program Essay
Once hospitalized, SC was enrolled in the Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Program. This pilot
provides timely treatment for individuals under 25 who are newly diagnosed, or have untreated
psychosis (Vancouver Coastal Health, 2016). SC met these criteria. EPI is based on the idea that if
psychosis is recognized and treated early, interventions can limit the potential for ongoing negative
consequences (BC Early Psychosis Intervention Program, 2016). Although this was SC s fourth
hospitalization, this was her first time on the EPI. By not being treated effectively on her first
admission, her chances of success were reduced. A substantial barrier for EPI is a client s delay, or
refusal to access services (BC Schizophrenia Society, 2012). SC had not been ready to accept
treatment during previous admissions. Lappin et al. (2016) also argue that there needs to be available
services specifically for young adults early in their illness that also have particular interventions for
drug related psychosis. This addictions component is not specifically addressed in the current EPI
model. However, it specifically targets young adults.
As well as additional monitoring of EPI, SC was being stabilized through medications. Her
pharmaceutical interventions included suboxone to treat substance dependence, gabapentin as a mood
stabilizer, olanzepine for psychosis and zopiclone for insomnia (Vallerand, Sanoski, Deglin, 2015).
However, only offering abstinence rather than a harm

Homeless Veterans Program Analysis
Programs and Support for Homeless Veterans Veterans have a higher possibility in becoming
homeless than the general population especially if they are in poverty or a minority (Thompson
Bridier, 2013). In human services and other services that have counselors would be able to start a plan
of action. A plan of action will provided proper resources for this population. A counselor can also find
programs to help find shelter and to get them back into the workforce by looking into the Veteran
Affairs (VA) programs.
There are five programs from Veterans Affairs (VA) that offer services for the homeless veterans to get
back on their feet. The programs are The Housing and Urban Development Veterans Affairs (HUD
VA), The Grant and Per Diem program, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Veterans who use these programs can better themselves gaining insight; obtain job skills to advance
employment. These programs can help the veteran homeless population and prevent veterans in
becoming homeless. The VA is constantly trying to better its systems to give and offer quality care for
veterans. Veterans who have served and put the life on the line should not have to worry about
transition back to civilian life and the VA is trying to make sure this happens. Human services, social
services, and other services can also assist homeless veterans by getting them into or guide them to a
right program. The VA has changed its guidelines to help and improve what is best to for treating
PSTD and substance abuse due to they both can be related but not recommended to treat them together
(Bernardy, Hamblen, Friedman, Kivlahan, 2011). The VA also has individual placement and support
(IPS) and transitional work experience (TWE) to help veterans to obtain a job. Individual placement
and support is a prompt system for job placement (Leddy, Stefanovies Rosenheck, 2014). Another
opportunity that veterans have to help them to transition back to civilian is education assistance
programs. One of the programs that is popular is the GI Bill. It pays for tuition,

What Memories Tell About Truth
What Memories Tell About Truth It is a common belief that memories are important, but why is that
so? Is it because memory can be a marker for a person s level of intelligence or does it have to do with
the effect memory has on person? Memory can be thought of as a recollection of an event that has
been pieced together from information by the mind. These collections of memories that a person
possesses are what define their identity, assist in future decision making based on past experiences,
and describes life experiences. But memory can be a tricky. The tendency to distort one s own
memory can be a way to make the world more understandable and allows a person to place these
experiences in terms better fitting to their own needs. The Yellow Birds narrator, Bartle, presents the
connection between truth and memory in an interesting way. Through Bartle s memories the idea of
personal truth stems from a distorted account done for his own peace of mind versus the acceptance of
the factual truth.
When people reconstruct memories, they do not purposely try to distort the actual experience, unless
their motive was to lie. In the case of Bartle s memories, the motive behind his distortion was done in
emotional self preservation. Like most soldiers returning home from overseas, Bartle s emotional state
was distressing due to the traumatic events that happened in Al Tafar. As Bartle tries to unravel and
make sense of the events of the past year it is evident that the memories of

Comparing The Jungle And How The Other Half Lives
Society has led us to believe that what doesn t kill you actually makes you stronger. That there is no
gain without pain. That a man s blood, sweat, and tears will be all worth the struggle. The Roman poet
Horace even once said that adversity can bring out talents which in a successful environment, would
not exist. With all these assurances that difficult circumstances will meritable, it is hard to picture
Horace s statement being challenged. However, in the books, The Jungle, and How the Other Half
Lives, adversity clearly never led to any such benefits or talents being drawn out as Horace
mentioned. For example, within, The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, Jurgis, a Lithuanian immigrant, came
to America with his family for the American Dream. Eventually, they fall into fiscal trouble, and
Jurgis old father, Antennas, is forced to perform grueling work until he dies from it. Additionally,
Jurgis struggles to pay for his high interest house, and instead of eliciting a talent, Jurgis elicits harsh
resentment for his family. How the Other Half Lives, by Jacob Riis, also described many of the
worries the people of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to worry about and no money for himself. He calls himself a slave to marriage because he longs to be
free from responsibility. No talents or abilities came from this misfortune, and the family is never able
to pay off the house. One by one, most of his loved ones die because Jurgis is no longer strong enough
to support them. If Horace was right, Jurgis would have found a sleeping skill within himself to save
the day and help everyone, but that just is not how reality works. Hard times do not mean that one will
come out a more skillful person. Horace s words really let Jurgis

What Is Hobos During The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a time of loss, sadness, and families being separated. Normal people during
this time had income but it was slow, and most owned houses and shared with others who didn t. On
the other hand, Hobos were normally penniless and owned only what they had on them. They road the
rails to travel, and met many other interesting people along the way. The life of Hobo during the Great
Depression was full of variables; hobos were taken care of through soup kitchens and clothing give

them work, although many people thought it was a horrible mistake, and hobos also road the rails, but

the Hobos, and homeless/jobless people. Although they were cared for well, hobos were not always
treated fairly. Hobos were blamed for many crimes including; robberies, murders, and assaults even
when they were not to blame. The hobos were most likely blamed because of their circumstances; they
were poor, possibly aggressive, and unknown to the common man. Even Police Men and civilized
people were tricked into thinking that Hobos were to blame. In an example, a person would

Food And The Food Industry
Since the 1900 s the food industry has genetically modified and added supplements to our foods in
order to provide big companies year long produce and products. Although the food industry is
technically part of the real estate industry; these politician should step down from businessmen to
conscience human beings. Most scholars in the field believe that the Western diet has the worst
combination of nutrients, and is the main cause in the rise of premature death and illnesses. In the
United States, every one in three people are affected from E. coli disease or some other stomach
diseases which can potentially lead into death. Also the techniques used for agriculture and raising
livestock have adequately changed to GMOs and unsanitary cultivation in order to make mass
production much easier. As a result of the tremendous amount of revenue being made annually,
politician endlessly ignore the controversial issue of death caused from contaminations. Although a
major small steps we can all contribute to is start a change in our community; by influencing others to
research what they are consuming and to stay active. Considering, the remarkable changes the
Speedee Industry has allocated, it seems to only financially benefit the food industry. Ever since the

Analysis Of The Current Energy Productions And...
Response paper # 4
GEOG 473
SPRING 2016
Chad (Jong H) Lee
Historically, most of the current energy productions and distribution systems are centrally controlled
regardless whether it is operated by government or private sectors. Not to mention most of the current
government policies on those energy sectors are highly tailored of the centralized structure. Part of the
reasons I can think of that is because the framework of the current energy model is largely focused on
a big scale energy system. Although this is not necessarily mean bad, but there are also some
disadvantages when we only focus on big scale energy systems. A couple of good examples are
hydroelectric and nuclear power. While these two sources of energy produce energy in completely
different ways, they are traditionally massive in its scale. Hydroelectric power is the oldest energy
source. From a small water wheel to a massive dam, humans have been used many of them for a long
time. Since the principles of the technology in hydroelectric plant are relatively simple and using
flowing water, it is one of the most widely used, as key energy source worldwide, and supplying
electricity much like at the national scale in many counties. While many large scale hydroelectric
dams continue to be built in many parts of the world, it is unlikely U.S. will add more of them in the
future. One of the reasons is the arising consensus of its environmental impacts to the natures. Unlike
a small scale hydroelectric dam, a

Discrimination Against Women In School Sports
I attended the live streaming showing at the Dohney Campus. The things I learned from the event is
that women are under represented in school sports and in the professional arena. One of the statistics
given was by Mayor Eric Garcetti and he said that women s professional teams make zero dollars per
event compared to men s professional teams making $260,000. And, the reason is because Title 9 does
not apply to NWA because it is a non profit. For me this statement was not surprising but, I would
have thought that there would be some types of laws and regulations against this type of
discrimination. Moreover, Mayor Garcetti, has increased the number of women in high level positions
at City Hall by having at least one woman in each committee. Mayor Garcetti is working on hard on

President Johnson did a nice job presenting the statistics found in the Report on the Status of Women

story that starts out with Goodman Brown telling his wife, Faith, goodbye and making sure she prays

Ambivalence About Immigration
Its been no secret that we have a major political divide this past year. At the center of this controversy
has been the issue of refugees and our country s veterans. About 88,000 foreigners arrive in the United
States on a typical day. Most are welcomed at airports and borders, and most do not intend to stay in
the United States. 82,000 nonimmigrant foreigners per day come to the United States as tourists,
business visitors, students, and foreign workers. Another 2,200 arrivals are immigrants and refugees,
persons that the United States has invited to join American society as permanent residents. The other
4,100 are unauthorized or illegal foreigners some enter legally as tourists and then stay in the United
States, but most enter the country unlawfully by eluding border patrol agents or using false documents
to circumvent border inspectors.
Is the daily arrival in the United States of the equivalent of a small city s population something to be
welcomed or something to be feared? There is no single answer, which helps to explain America s
historical ambivalence about immigration. On one hand, the United States celebrates its immigrant
heritage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Assessments and feedbacks are crucial to helping students learn effectively. Evaluating student s
abilities to comprehend text and science concepts is a major component because it helps the teacher
know how their student s literacy skills are developing (Rakes Smith, 1992). Therefore, assigning
formative literacy assessments are crucial in STEM classrooms because it helps educators get an
insight on how their students would perform on high stake exams. A student who is having difficulty

Why Food Is A Natural Resources
Natural resources are important because most of the things in the world comes from natural resources.
Some people think that food is a natural resource but its not. Food is not a natural resource because
you have to grow the food first. Gas and air are both natural resources because air helps you breath
and survive on the earth. Gas is a natural resource because it helps us drive our cars and planes. Gas is
important because without it how would we get from place to place. Also without gas how would
police get to a crime scene or get robbers before they escape from the bank. If robbers get away
money will be taken away from people. Bees are a natural resource because people can t make bees.
They are also helpful because without them who would take the honey and nectar from plants and
flowers so that the can grow. Without the bees who would take the nectar from the plants to help them
grow. When bees go extinct the prices of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This helps us because at night we can barely see and if it s like that all day people might get in even
more accidents. We also need the sunlight so that people can get to there job and home safely without
any problems. Sunlight is also a good this because when it is sunny out you can go outside and go to
the beach and have fun with friends and family all day long. If there wasn t any sunlight kids wouldn t
go outside with their friends because it would be too dark to play anything at all. Water is a natural
resource because we can get it from lakes, oceans, rivers, and creeks or even toilets. These are all
possible water resources because certain types of people clean the water so that people can drink it
instead of getting poisoned everytime you drink water. When people get poisoned they will have to go
to the hospital and get treated just because they got poisoned when there are other people in the

New Prophets And Its Impact On The Nation Of Israel,...
Many new prophets came about in books Isaiah through Malachi. The goal for the prophets was to
have Christ like characteristics and tell people the good news. God is the shepherd who chooses his
prophets to change the future. This was a time where the nation of Israel, Judah, Jerusalem and
Nineveh were not obeying God. However, God offered hope to the people by exiling the nation and
offering the people a new opportunity for a personal relationship. The nations existed to be a
disappointment to God because he had clearly informed the people to walk humbly with him in order
to experience the good life.
God had an unconditional love for his people, but he can still get angry when people oppose his word.
He offered forgiveness to the Israelites even when they turned against him to worship a false god.
Also, God did not ignore people who rebelled against him. He knew all the actions of everyone. God
was angry with the people of Nineveh because they had a strong rebellion against him. There were
people in the city who didn t believe in him and he casted a wrath. God is good to the people who
follow him, but he becomes bitter toward people who deliberately deny him as the Father. The time
period of Nineveh was a disappointment to God. There has been judged upon nations, but forgiveness
was offered. This is a reoccurring theme throughout the Old Testament. It goes to show that God
doesn t like when his people turn their backs against him, but he is willing to forgive them if they

Compare and Contrast the Chicago and Los Angeles Schools...
Essay: Compare and Contrast the Chicago and Los Angeles Schools of Urbanism.
Urban studies aims to develop an understanding the modern city metropolis. As Savage et al. have
pointed out, the urban encompasses far more than just the physical city itself; understanding the city
help us to understand many aspects of modern life (2003, pp.4). Many of its features, such as mass
media and public transport systems have spread throughout society over the past century. Sociological
studies of urban life began with the landmark publication of The City in 1925 by sociologists Robert
Park, Ernest Burgess and Louis Wirth from the University of Chicago, students of Georg Simmel who

113). In addition Knox and Pinch suggest empirical evidence supporting Wirth s theory to be lacking
(pp. 152).
The Los Angeles school begins with quite different precepts, disputing the hypotheses of the Chicago
School. They contend its orientation towards individuals as explaining the environment (for example
the genius/criminal type creating vice and disorder (Park 1925, pp. 41)), its historical determinism and
its view of the city as a cohesive, stable unit (Dear 2008, pp. 109). Its theoretical bases, rather than the
structural, modernist paradigms of the Chicago School are postmodern, 21st century ones. For
example Mike Davis, one of the leading thinkers of the LA school, cites Fredric Jameson s conception
of postmodernity, with globalised, temporary forces producing uncertain outcomes (Davis 1998, pp.
84). Edward Soja, another sociologist of the LA school, has employed Foucault s post structuralist
paradigm to explain some aspects of the postmodern city, for example he has likened the central
downtown district of the city to a new panopticon , Foucault s conception of a form of total
surveillance and control for the centre over the periphery. He suggests as a headquarters of space,
knowledge and power with universal visibility throughout the city, it can supervise economic and
social activity, and is able to surveil the surrounding city (Soja 1989, pp. 234 6). Another highly
influential postmodern theorist in the LA School has been Henri Lefevbre

What Is The Conflict Between The Two Political Parties
In today s culture, there are several controversies that drive the forefront of social gatherings, private
debate, and especially political races. Whether you know it or not, if you assimilate into society in
anyway, you probably have an opinion on some issues in today s culture. Some major topics in today s
news are abortion, gay marriage, and the legalization of marijuana. These issues have increasingly
divided us as a society, and have also infiltrated into our political affiliation. The two major parties,
Democrats and Republicans, have never been able to see eye to eye on theses issues as they deeply
involve moral and negative culture impact.
Today, we will decipher the core beliefs and values of each party and also a potential compromise that
could take the key points of each party s platform and figure out a solution that would finally resolve
the majority of conflict between the two parties. A brief history and explanation of the two parties is
detrimental to successfully explaining where they stand on the issues. The Democratic Party is
infamous for being the party of everything blue, donkey, and for choice and freedom. This party
upholds a strong passion for the rights of mankind and helping those less fortunate. They are built
upon the structure that a larger government can best serve the people by providing a mass, nation wide
standard in the best interests of the population.1 Some examples include national healthcare,

Essay on Red Lobster s Ethical Dilemma
Red Lobster s Ethical Dilemma Term Paper
Gerry Mullen, CEO of Red Lobster restaurants, has been faced with a dilemma. He recently received
an email from Terry Modotti, Vice President for Public Relations concerning the lobster retrieval in La
Mosquitia, also known as the Mosquito Coast. The article states that many of the young working men
are being killed and maimed to make lobsters available at cheap process to consumers in the United
States. The men, known as buzos, must dive up to 130 feet for lobster, and face dangerous
decompression sickness which begins with paralysis and ends in a slow death. This is due to the fact
that there are no medical or decompression facilities on the boats, and there is also no equipment to

Another disadvantage of implementing this option would be that net earnings would decrease due to a
decrease in consumers, and shareholders will be angered by the decreasing figures of the company.
With all of the negativity being placed upon the company as a result of this option, a bad light would
be shown on the CEO and the company, especially since Gerry is relatively new. Since there are
clearly more disadvantages than advantages for Gerry and Red Lobster by exercising this option, I
would advise Gerry to further pursue other options. Another option with which Gerry could
investigate would be for Red Lobster to offer to pay a higher price for lobster to boat companies in the
Mosquito Coast in order for the divers to receive a higher salary cut. A possible advantage to this is
that it would provide a better living environment for the divers. It is stated in the article that after the
sacabuzos (middlemen), boat captains, and fish processors take their share of the money, what remains
for the buzos is a mere $2 per pound of lobster fetched. Within a two week time period, this rate will
amount to about $300. If the divers are trying to support families, $300 for two weeks is quite meager.
By increasing the price that Red Lobster is willing to pay for wholesale lobster, the divers will benefit
considerably due to a higher salary. Another advantage to a higher salary would mean that more
individuals would be inclined to become divers,

Essay Nick s Self-Discovery in Hemingway s In Our Time
Nick s Self Discovery in Hemingway s In Our Time
The focus of this essay will be to analyze Nick s transition as he moves from mental isolation, to
physical isolation, to maturation and self discovery.
If Nick s life were to be chronologically ordered and analyzed, the stories Indian Camp and The
Doctor and the Doctor s Wife would definitely come first. It is these two stories that give us the first
insight to what kind of character that Nick really is as a child. Because Nick is only mentioned briefly
in the latter story, I think that Indian Camp is more significant in analyzing the portrayal of his
character. I suppose the one passage that truly gives insight about the innocence (and ignorance) of ...

The significance of the quote, It isn t fun any more. Not any of it (34) is the absence of emotion and
meaning in his life. Obviously, the way in which Nick broke up with Marjorie is that he was searching
for something in life that was not yet to be found; not in her or, as it appears, anyone. It is this
hollowness that I think directly relates back to his relationship with his father and is the same lack of
emotion that lead Nick to go to war and to continue wandering by himself after he returns. It is this
same emotion (or lack there of) that is apparent in The Three Day Blow, as well. Though he expresses
some remorse over his break up with Marge ( All he knew is that he had once had Marjorie and that he
had lost her (47)), I truly believe that there was something else that deeply troubled Nick. It is in these
two stories, however, that the reader can begin to infer that Nick, though once a content child who
would never die, is now searching for something in life, whether it be adequacy or meaning. Thus,
these stories are important because they show his maturation and make a preface for the events that
follow.
The Battler seems to be the culmination of Nick s psuedo depression that is sensed in the two stories
before it. The reader can infer that, whether to leave his parents, to seek meaning in life, or just for
adventure, Nick has taken on the life of a

Suffering In Oedipus The King And Antigone
With Fate Comes Suffering
Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.
(Gibran, Khalil) Khalil Gibran, a famous Lebanese American artist, poet, and writer once spoke a
quote which relates to two Greek tragedies, Oedipus the King and Antigone. The quote analyzes the
tragic characters in each play because they must endure pain before, during, and after their downfalls
in order to grow. In Oedipus the King, written in 430 B.C, Oedipus has been named the king of
Thebes, which is suffering from a plague. He later finds out that he killed his own father and married
his mother named Jocasta whom he had four children with. In Antigone, which focuses on a teenage

A major misunderstanding is, Ismene also takes the blame for the burial of their brother Polynices.
Ismene confesses, I did it yes / if only she consents I share the guilt, / the consequences too.
(Sophocles, 604 606) This is a misunderstanding because we see Ismene confessing, and Antigone
does not want her to die and take blame for a deed that she did not take part in. We see this throughout
the play that Ismene has strong family ties, but is not gutsy enough to take part in anything against
human law. This also exhibits that Ismene s loyalty only goes so far and is meant to teach the audience
to think before you act and stay true to your beliefs. This quote also relates to the role of women in
society, how they were meant to stay quiet and not defy men. Antigone goes against this idea because
she buries Polynices disregarding the fact that Creon placed a human law against it. Sophocles
intended to teach the audience that women were starting to become freer and wanted to make their
own decisions, as well as, that it was not uncommon to support your family even if it meant dying for
a cause that you believed in. Even if Ismene was not in agreement with the actions of Antigone, she
still wanted to help and stick up for the rights of women, by defying their uncle. Humanity has come a
long way since the early motives of women s freedom. From obtaining the right to vote in public

This brief will examine FireEye s position as it relates to Michael Porter s Five Forces of competition;
Threat of New Entrants, Threat of Substitutes, Bargaining Power of Suppliers/Customers, and Rivalry

Threats of New Entrants
There are a variety of barriers that an organization may face when entering into a particular market
space. In the case of FireEye, the barriers they faced in the cyber security domain were incumbents in
the market, like customers exhibiting cost sensitivity in switching from their existing service.
The majority of the customer s in the cyber security industry has multiple cyber related business like
antivirus, providing network hardware, providing security services, performing audits and assessments
and risk advisory services. Company s like Palo Alto and McAfee are entering into malware analysis
with very less or no profit margin set to attract more customers. This affects the quality of the product
and poses a critical challenge for FireEye.
FireEye, unlike its competition, does not have easy access to distribution channels distribution
partners. Proper distribution channel is a matter of concern when expanding the sales to countries
other than US.
The growing number of cyber security threats has brought about a proliferation of businesses offering
various forms of network protection solutions. This may

This computer technology is useless without data from the physical world.
Today, computational biology has thrived forward to a new level where biologists do experiments
totally in the virtual world and take them into account and make them usable for further study or for
drawing a conclusion about a subject. For example, in real world, biologists, or more precisely
evolutionary biologists, can t predict evolution and are unable to go back to the time or to repeat the
same path that has led to today s world. Through computer simulation or program, biologists can have
a look through the evolutionary pathway that had been followed long time ago and made today s
world.
One of the theory of adaptation is exaptation. Survival of the fittest determined the adaptation and thus
evolution of new species. Some evolutionary innovations may originate non adaptively as exaptation,
or pre adaptations, which are by product of other adaptive traits (Barve and Wagner, 2013). It has been
known that birds got their feathers for flight from dinosaurs, and some proteins change into lens
because of their ability to refract light. In a nutshell, exaptation is the result of adaptation from traits
that were evolved for something different at first, which later causes innovative changes and give
adaptation for a different trait.
Barve and Wagener used novel computational methods in their research. They randomly sample
different metabolic pathways that can sustain life in any given carbon

Archetypes On The Rainy Road
Every single person on planet Earth has a set of personal morals; whether as basic as the old standard
tell the truth to everyone , or a more controversial belief such as no sex before marriage

concepts to adhere to when faced with challenging circumstances. Tim is a young man living in
Minnesota, and by his own admission, had the world dicked...summa cum laude... and a full ride

the secession of the south began his sense of duty required him to join the Union. Shaw was a natural
leader and quickly was promoted from Lieutenant to Colonel. As a man who proved his worth as a
military leader and his family open support for the integration of freed black slaves into the military, it
is only fitting that he obtained a command leading the first all black unit the 54th Massachusetts
regiment. This command defined his military career and earned him the respect of his troops and the

in defense of the Union capital. His time with the Seventh New York Regiment was short lived, due to
the unit only serving for thirty days and was disbanded. During his time in Washington D.C. with his
regiment, Shaw discovered his purpose in life and with much respect and enthusiasm he applied for a
commission in in the regular Army. In May of 1861, his request was granted and he was assigned to
the Second Massachusetts Regiment at the rank of second lieutenant. This decision to follow his new
found purpose placed him in the position to be involved in some of the Civil Wars greatest and pivotal
battles that determined the momentum of the war. Shaw served in campaigns in western Maryland and
Virginia serving under Major General Nathaniel Banks, who was actively engaged in stopping major
General Thomas Stonewall Jackson s Shenandoah Valley campaign. Shaw nearly avoided being
wounded while fighting in the First Battle of Winchester, when a bullet struck his pocket watch. Shaw,
now baptized by fire, was offered a position on Brigadier General George H. Gordon s staff and
accepted. He was promoted shortly after the Battle of Cedar Mountain to Captain. The Second
Massachusetts s was present for the Battle of Second Manassas, but was held in reserve and did not
see any action, but later on September 17th, he would be involved in the bloodiest battle of the entire
Civil War, Battle of Antietam. Shaw would be wounded at the Battle

11th Christmas Essay
My 11th Christmas
It was December 25th the day I become part Methodist, the day in which people believe god s son was
born, the day my family goes to my aunt s house to celebrate Christmas. It was also the day in which
we received presents from our relatives and that s why I was so excited. This day was so special to my
relatives, that they even made all three meals for us.
Ding dong. The doorbell rang, we were standing on our aunt s brick porch. I looked in the side
window next to the door and saw my grandmother making her way off the couch. Hey, the kids are
here, my grandmother said as she walked to the door. I could hear her unlocking the door. Creak! The
wooden door opened. They had the football on the TV and it looked as if they were already starting
the party. We only come to this house for this type of occasion.
Hello, my dad replied, slightly raising his hand and smiling as if my grandmother made this joke. My
dad was wearing a golf shirt with hiking pants.
Come on in, my grandfather said in the background as he slowly made his way to the door. We walked
in. The walls were still white, the small wooden dining room to the left of the door was still there
along with my uncle s small office to the right. Overall it didn t look like they changed anything, I
could still see the small hallway leading to the garage and the couches next to the television screen.
But the amount of presents lying under the Christmas tree next to the stairs was

The Issues Of The Midwifery And Obstetrics
In recent years, midwifery and obstetrics have become two of the most prominent and primary ways
of care for women of childbearing age in comparison to unassisted births and other documented
methods. Although midwifery is not as prevalent as obstetrics, there is a rise in midwifery today. In
the United States women and their partners are faced with the choice of who should provide care
before, during and after pregnancy. As of today there has been a rise in how many births are attended
by nurse midwives than it was a quarter of a century ago but the number of births attended by an
obstetrician gynecologist (OBGYN) is still significantly higher. Faced with either option, OBGYN or
nurse midwife, women of childbearing age are not adequately informed or are misinformed on their
choices when it comes to each specialty. This paper explores the issue of women being thoroughly
informed on their birth options and on which provider is necessary. This paper also compares the two
professions, midwifery and obstetrics in the realm of pregnancy, pregnancy care and childbirth. This
examination of professional practices for pregnant women points out the limitations of each
obstetrician gynecologists and their attendance in low risk pregnancies and deliveries and suggests the
need for midwives more than ever.
Choices: Midwifery Today
What is choice? Is it making an informed decision based on facts or is it deciding between opposing
factors based on pure emotion? Perhaps it is just

The Role Of Traditional Family Life Cycle
Traditional Family Life Cycle The stages the typical consumer passes through from childhood to death
of spouse or partner is known as the family life cycle. The typical stages of a traditional family life
cycle were as follows:
1. Bachelor stage
2. Young newlyweds with no children
3. Full nest I: youngest child under the age of six
4. Full nest II: youngest child over six
5. Full nest III: older married or with dependent children
6. Empty nest I: older married couples with dependent children, head in labor force
7. Empty nest II: older married couple, no children living at home
8. Solitary survivor in labor force
9. Solitary survivor retired
As the stages transition characteristics of the life cycle change as well. During different stages of life
the different circumstances lead to different priorities in their purchasing decisions. The family life
cycle listed above is becoming less traditional. People are making the choice to be and remain single
throughout the course of their lives. Many marriages end up in divorce and later remarry to create
blended families. Families may consist of two same individuals of the same sex sharing a household
and raising children, or a single person not involved in a relationship raising a child. There are many
types of households. For the purpose of this paper the nine stages of the traditional family life cycle
will be used to determine who would most be attracted the Avera McKenna website retrieved from

2. Literature Review
2.1. Introduction to the literature review
The following headings cover the theory and literature relevant to this study.
The literature review is divided into four distinct sections: Economic growth, productivity, industrial
robot density and its effect on labour.
2.2. Economic growth models
2.2.1. The Solow economic growth model and the Solow residual
Burda Severgnini (2014) stated that that for half a century the Solow decomposition and residual
theory have been used to define and measure the productivity component of growth in economics and
management. The work by Solow (1957) remains influential, as it broke the limitations of the
contemporary and restrictive labour and capital input growth models of the period. ... Show more

The so called Solow residual can be explained by the phenomenon where the growth rate in output
exceeds that of the growth rate of inputs (Ten Raa, 2011). This paved the way for the contribution of
productivity as a metric contribution to economic growth theory, and in this context why the increased
productivity effected through ever advancing robotic technologies and rate of implementation are
important to study. Robert Solow s research was core to theoretical concepts of which the Solow
residual, total factor productivity (TFP), the Solow decomposition and the Neo classical growth model
were relevant to this research.
Robert Solow s (1956) seminal essay titled: A contribution to the theory of economic growth
introduced the framework for the development of the neo classical growth model. Productivity is a
key enabler of economic growth (Autor, 2015; Krone, 2014; Mokyr, Vickers Ziebarth, 2015). These
theories affirmed the applicability of industrial robot density as an accurate metric and enabler of
economic growth within the neo classical economic growth theory

Human Factors Affecting Your Largest Operating Expenditure
Introduction Manual order picking is still the most common way to fulfill orders from customers. This
process of order picking is highly labor intensive, repetitive and time consuming, resulting in one of
the largest organizational expenses in a warehouse environment. Traditionally, order picking systems
have been designed to limit travel time, search time, and pick time. The theory is that by reducing
travel, search, and pick time, the process should become more productive, limiting costs, reducing
errors, and being user friendly. So why design a system that is dependent on your largest operating
expenditure without taking into account various human factors which can lead to lower productivity,
increased errors, system constraints, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We installed new racking which enabled us to store our inventory higher than before, allowing us to
increase our product offerings. We changed our aisle configuration to decrease travel time. We
implemented a new system to locate our product which reduced search time. We configured our layout
of products so that the best sellers are on the floor which lowers our pick times. We even implemented
a new hand held scanner technology to reduce our pick errors.
With our new order picking system we were trying to increase production. During our planning of the
system, we never took into account how the human factor would affect our productivity. We designed
it to maximize our efficiency, increase pick rates, lower pick errors and be user friendly. We did not
take into account how our employee s learning curve, acceptance, and engagement would affect the
system. We realized that the system was still manual and that human error would be a factor, but we
did not fully consider the human factor in designing the system.
Question
Should human factors, which are traditionally overlooked, be more highly considered when designing
an order picking system to optimize productivity and reduce inefficiencies in a warehouse setting?
This question was reached with the help of the following PICOC:
Population Employees that pick orders
Intervention Impact of human factors on order picking

Analysis Of Waking From Sleep
Robert Bly s Waking from Sleep explores the thoughts and events that occur at night as the country
recovers from the war that has just occurred. In the first stanza of the poem, the narrator is addressing
the war, the reader can confirm this because he states tiny explosions at the waterlines (line2) and
wind of the salty blood (line 3). The reader is immediately informed that a war has occurred because
of the navies setting forth, tiny explosions and salty blood. In the second stanza, the narrator is
describing the months after the war. The memories still remain of the tragic events that have occurred.
In the third stanza things for the narrator start looking brighter. The country is now rising from bed
and waking up. However, the memories of those who have passed away are remembered as their
shouts are heard from the harbor. Throughout the fourth, and final stanza the country is healing. The
country is singing, and dancing in the kitchen. The author portrays that those who are lost are never
forgotten, and the country is reminded of their memories every morning at dawn when silence sweeps
the nation.
Bly s underlying theme of Waking from Sleep is that memories are often left behind after a traumatic
life event. Bly often writes about the world that is going on around him. In his work he is often
persuaded by the events going on in the world around him. Robert Bly has written poetry that is
nonacademic, based in the natural world, the visionary, and the realm of

Explain The Basic Process Of The Respiratory System
Explain the basic process of the respiratory system from initial respiration through gas exchange.
➢ Inhaled air enters the nasal cavity, where it is cleaned, warmed and humidified on its way through
the pharynx.
➢ After leaving the pharynx, air enters the ;larynx, where two pairs of ligaments, together with the
mucosa covering them, forms the vestibular and vocal folds. These folds help prevent foreign
particles, including food, from entering the lower respiratory system.
➢ Air next enters the trachea, which divides into two primary bronchi. As the bronchi enter the lungs
they continue to divide into smaller bronchi, and ultimately into terminal bronchioles.
➢ Each terminal bronchiole divides repetitively to form respiratory bronchioles, alveolar

  • 3. Cultural Tension In Rocky IV And Office Space Throughout history, Americans have dealt with cultural and social tensions in a number of ways. For several decades, the nation was manipulated by fear and paranoia as the shadow of Soviet influence continued to loom large in everyone s life. Rocky IV (1985) is an American sports film written by, directed, and starring Sylvester Stallone. Rocky IV tells the story of world champion American boxer Rocky Balboa (Stallone) seeking to avenge the death of a friend and defend his country s honor by daring to travel to the Soviet Union and fight their best athlete on enemy soil. Director Mike Judge s 1999 comedy film Office Space depicts a different kind of enemy in modern America, as it satirizes the daily grind of a typical software company and its disgruntled employees in the 1990s. By incorporating real world elements of cultural tension, immersing the viewer into an all too familiar environment, and mirroring the mentality of society during their respective times, Rocky IV and Office Space effectively inspire and educate each viewer in their own unique ways. ... • 7. Early Psychosis Intervention ( Epi ) Program Essay Once hospitalized, SC was enrolled in the Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Program. This pilot provides timely treatment for individuals under 25 who are newly diagnosed, or have untreated psychosis (Vancouver Coastal Health, 2016). SC met these criteria. EPI is based on the idea that if psychosis is recognized and treated early, interventions can limit the potential for ongoing negative consequences (BC Early Psychosis Intervention Program, 2016). Although this was SC s fourth hospitalization, this was her first time on the EPI. By not being treated effectively on her first admission, her chances of success were reduced. A substantial barrier for EPI is a client s delay, or refusal to access services (BC Schizophrenia Society, 2012). SC had not been ready to accept treatment during previous admissions. Lappin et al. (2016) also argue that there needs to be available services specifically for young adults early in their illness that also have particular interventions for drug related psychosis. This addictions component is not specifically addressed in the current EPI model. However, it specifically targets young adults. As well as additional monitoring of EPI, SC was being stabilized through medications. Her pharmaceutical interventions included suboxone to treat substance dependence, gabapentin as a mood stabilizer, olanzepine for psychosis and zopiclone for insomnia (Vallerand, Sanoski, Deglin, 2015). • 9. What Memories Tell About Truth What Memories Tell About Truth It is a common belief that memories are important, but why is that so? Is it because memory can be a marker for a person s level of intelligence or does it have to do with the effect memory has on person? Memory can be thought of as a recollection of an event that has been pieced together from information by the mind. These collections of memories that a person possesses are what define their identity, assist in future decision making based on past experiences, and describes life experiences. But memory can be a tricky. The tendency to distort one s own memory can be a way to make the world more understandable and allows a person to place these experiences in terms better fitting to their own needs. The Yellow Birds narrator, Bartle, presents the connection between truth and memory in an interesting way. Through Bartle s memories the idea of personal truth stems from a distorted account done for his own peace of mind versus the acceptance of the factual truth. When people reconstruct memories, they do not purposely try to distort the actual experience, unless their motive was to lie. In the case of Bartle s memories, the motive behind his distortion was done in emotional self preservation. Like most soldiers returning home from overseas, Bartle s emotional state was distressing due to the traumatic events that happened in Al Tafar. As Bartle tries to unravel and make sense of the events of the past year it is evident that the memories of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That a man s blood, sweat, and tears will be all worth the struggle. The Roman poet Horace even once said that adversity can bring out talents which in a successful environment, would not exist. With all these assurances that difficult circumstances will meritable, it is hard to picture Horace s statement being challenged. However, in the books, The Jungle, and How the Other Half Lives, adversity clearly never led to any such benefits or talents being drawn out as Horace mentioned. For example, within, The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, Jurgis, a Lithuanian immigrant, came to America with his family for the American Dream. Eventually, they fall into fiscal trouble, and Jurgis old father, Antennas, is forced to perform grueling work until he dies from it. Response paper # 4 GEOG 473 SPRING 2016 Chad (Jong H) Lee Historically, most of the current energy productions and distribution systems are centrally controlled regardless whether it is operated by government or private sectors. Not to mention most of the current government policies on those energy sectors are highly tailored of the centralized structure. Part of the reasons I can think of that is because the framework of the current energy model is largely focused on a big scale energy system. Although this is not necessarily mean bad, but there are also some disadvantages when we only focus on big scale energy systems. A couple of good examples are hydroelectric and nuclear power. While these two sources of energy produce energy in completely different ways, they are traditionally massive in its scale. Hydroelectric power is the oldest energy source. From a small water wheel to a massive dam, humans have been used many of them for a long time. Since the principles of the technology in hydroelectric plant are relatively simple and using flowing water, it is one of the most widely used, as key energy source worldwide, and supplying electricity much like at the national scale in many counties. • 23. New Prophets And Its Impact On The Nation Of Israel,... Many new prophets came about in books Isaiah through Malachi. The goal for the prophets was to have Christ like characteristics and tell people the good news. God is the shepherd who chooses his prophets to change the future. This was a time where the nation of Israel, Judah, Jerusalem and Nineveh were not obeying God. However, God offered hope to the people by exiling the nation and offering the people a new opportunity for a personal relationship. The nations existed to be a disappointment to God because he had clearly informed the people to walk humbly with him in order to experience the good life. God had an unconditional love for his people, but he can still get angry when people oppose his word. He offered forgiveness to the Israelites even when they turned against him to worship a false god. Also, God did not ignore people who rebelled against him. He knew all the actions of everyone. God was angry with the people of Nineveh because they had a strong rebellion against him. There were people in the city who didn t believe in him and he casted a wrath. God is good to the people who follow him, but he becomes bitter toward people who deliberately deny him as the Father. The time period of Nineveh was a disappointment to God. Urban studies aims to develop an understanding the modern city metropolis. As Savage et al. have pointed out, the urban encompasses far more than just the physical city itself; understanding the city help us to understand many aspects of modern life (2003, pp.4). Many of its features, such as mass media and public transport systems have spread throughout society over the past century. The Los Angeles school begins with quite different precepts, disputing the hypotheses of the Chicago School. They contend its orientation towards individuals as explaining the environment (for example the genius/criminal type creating vice and disorder (Park 1925, pp. 41)), its historical determinism and its view of the city as a cohesive, stable unit (Dear 2008, pp. 109). Its theoretical bases, rather than the structural, modernist paradigms of the Chicago School are postmodern, 21st century ones. For example Mike Davis, one of the leading thinkers of the LA school, cites Fredric Jameson s conception of postmodernity, with globalised, temporary forces producing uncertain outcomes (Davis 1998, pp. 84). Edward Soja, another sociologist of the LA school, has employed Foucault s post structuralist paradigm to explain some aspects of the postmodern city, for example he has likened the central downtown district of the city to a new panopticon , Foucault s conception of a form of total surveillance and control for the centre over the periphery. He suggests as a headquarters of space, knowledge and power with universal visibility throughout the city, it can supervise economic and social activity, and is able to surveil the surrounding city (Soja 1989, pp. 234 6). Whether you know it or not, if you assimilate into society in anyway, you probably have an opinion on some issues in today s culture. Some major topics in today s news are abortion, gay marriage, and the legalization of marijuana. These issues have increasingly divided us as a society, and have also infiltrated into our political affiliation. The two major parties, Democrats and Republicans, have never been able to see eye to eye on theses issues as they deeply involve moral and negative culture impact. Since there are clearly more disadvantages than advantages for Gerry and Red Lobster by exercising this option, I would advise Gerry to further pursue other options. Another option with which Gerry could investigate would be for Red Lobster to offer to pay a higher price for lobster to boat companies in the Mosquito Coast in order for the divers to receive a higher salary cut. A possible advantage to this is that it would provide a better living environment for the divers. It is stated in the article that after the sacabuzos (middlemen), boat captains, and fish processors take their share of the money, what remains for the buzos is a mere $2 per pound of lobster fetched. Within a two week time period, this rate will amount to about $300. If the divers are trying to support families, $300 for two weeks is quite meager. Ismene confesses, I did it yes / if only she consents I share the guilt, / the consequences too. (Sophocles, 604 606) This is a misunderstanding because we see Ismene confessing, and Antigone does not want her to die and take blame for a deed that she did not take part in. We see this throughout the play that Ismene has strong family ties, but is not gutsy enough to take part in anything against human law. This also exhibits that Ismene s loyalty only goes so far and is meant to teach the audience to think before you act and stay true to your beliefs. This quote also relates to the role of women in society, how they were meant to stay quiet and not defy men. Antigone goes against this idea because she buries Polynices disregarding the fact that Creon placed a human law against it. Sophocles intended to teach the audience that women were starting to become freer and wanted to make their own decisions, as well as, that it was not uncommon to support your family even if it meant dying for a cause that you believed in. This decision to follow his new found purpose placed him in the position to be involved in some of the Civil Wars greatest and pivotal battles that determined the momentum of the war. Shaw served in campaigns in western Maryland and Virginia serving under Major General Nathaniel Banks, who was actively engaged in stopping major General Thomas Stonewall Jackson s Shenandoah Valley campaign. Shaw nearly avoided being wounded while fighting in the First Battle of Winchester, when a bullet struck his pocket watch. Shaw, now baptized by fire, was offered a position on Brigadier General George H. Gordon s staff and accepted. He was promoted shortly after the Battle of Cedar Mountain to Captain. The Second Massachusetts s was present for the Battle of Second Manassas, but was held in reserve and did not see any action, but later on September 17th, he would be involved in the bloodiest battle of the entire Civil War, Battle of Antietam. • 41. 11th Christmas Essay My 11th Christmas It was December 25th the day I become part Methodist, the day in which people believe god s son was born, the day my family goes to my aunt s house to celebrate Christmas. It was also the day in which we received presents from our relatives and that s why I was so excited. This day was so special to my relatives, that they even made all three meals for us. Ding dong. The doorbell rang, we were standing on our aunt s brick porch. I looked in the side window next to the door and saw my grandmother making her way off the couch. Hey, the kids are here, my grandmother said as she walked to the door. I could hear her unlocking the door. Creak! The wooden door opened. They had the football on the TV and it looked as if they were already starting the party. We only come to this house for this type of occasion. Hello, my dad replied, slightly raising his hand and smiling as if my grandmother made this joke. My dad was wearing a golf shirt with hiking pants. Come on in, my grandfather said in the background as he slowly made his way to the door. We walked in. The walls were still white, the small wooden dining room to the left of the door was still there along with my uncle s small office to the right. Overall it didn t look like they changed anything, I could still see the small hallway leading to the garage and the couches next to the television screen. But the amount of presents lying under the Christmas tree next to the stairs was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The Issues Of The Midwifery And Obstetrics In recent years, midwifery and obstetrics have become two of the most prominent and primary ways of care for women of childbearing age in comparison to unassisted births and other documented methods. Although midwifery is not as prevalent as obstetrics, there is a rise in midwifery today. In the United States women and their partners are faced with the choice of who should provide care before, during and after pregnancy. As of today there has been a rise in how many births are attended by nurse midwives than it was a quarter of a century ago but the number of births attended by an obstetrician gynecologist (OBGYN) is still significantly higher. Faced with either option, OBGYN or nurse midwife, women of childbearing age are not adequately informed or are misinformed on their choices when it comes to each specialty. This paper explores the issue of women being thoroughly informed on their birth options and on which provider is necessary. This paper also compares the two professions, midwifery and obstetrics in the realm of pregnancy, pregnancy care and childbirth. This examination of professional practices for pregnant women points out the limitations of each obstetrician gynecologists and their attendance in low risk pregnancies and deliveries and suggests the need for midwives more than ever. Choices: Midwifery Today What is choice? Is it making an informed decision based on facts or is it deciding between opposing factors based on pure emotion? Perhaps it is just ... • 44. What Is The Solow Economic Growth Model And The Solow... 2. Literature Review 2.1. Introduction to the literature review The following headings cover the theory and literature relevant to this study. The literature review is divided into four distinct sections: Economic growth, productivity, industrial robot density and its effect on labour. 2.2. Economic growth models 2.2.1. The Solow economic growth model and the Solow residual Burda Severgnini (2014) stated that that for half a century the Solow decomposition and residual theory have been used to define and measure the productivity component of growth in economics and management. The work by Solow (1957) remains influential, as it broke the limitations of the contemporary and restrictive labour and capital input growth models of the period. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The so called Solow residual can be explained by the phenomenon where the growth rate in output exceeds that of the growth rate of inputs (Ten Raa, 2011). This paved the way for the contribution of productivity as a metric contribution to economic growth theory, and in this context why the increased productivity effected through ever advancing robotic technologies and rate of implementation are important to study. Robert Solow s research was core to theoretical concepts of which the Solow residual, total factor productivity (TFP), the Solow decomposition and the Neo classical growth model were relevant to this research. Robert Solow s (1956) seminal essay titled: A contribution to the theory of economic growth introduced the framework for the development of the neo classical growth model. Productivity is a key enabler of economic growth (Autor, 2015; Krone, 2014; Mokyr, Vickers Ziebarth, 2015). These theories affirmed the applicability of industrial robot density as an accurate metric and enabler of economic growth within the neo classical economic growth theory ... • 45. Human Factors Affecting Your Largest Operating Expenditure Introduction Manual order picking is still the most common way to fulfill orders from customers. This process of order picking is highly labor intensive, repetitive and time consuming, resulting in one of the largest organizational expenses in a warehouse environment. Traditionally, order picking systems have been designed to limit travel time, search time, and pick time. The theory is that by reducing travel, search, and pick time, the process should become more productive, limiting costs, reducing errors, and being user friendly. So why design a system that is dependent on your largest operating expenditure without taking into account various human factors which can lead to lower productivity, increased errors, system constraints, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We installed new racking which enabled us to store our inventory higher than before, allowing us to increase our product offerings. We changed our aisle configuration to decrease travel time. We implemented a new system to locate our product which reduced search time. We configured our layout of products so that the best sellers are on the floor which lowers our pick times. We even implemented a new hand held scanner technology to reduce our pick errors. With our new order picking system we were trying to increase production. During our planning of the system, we never took into account how the human factor would affect our productivity. We designed it to maximize our efficiency, increase pick rates, lower pick errors and be user friendly. We did not take into account how our employee s learning curve, acceptance, and engagement would affect the system. We realized that the system was still manual and that human error would be a factor, but we did not fully consider the human factor in designing the system. Question Should human factors, which are traditionally overlooked, be more highly considered when designing an order picking system to optimize productivity and reduce inefficiencies in a warehouse setting? This question was reached with the help of the following PICOC: Population Employees that pick orders Intervention Impact of human factors on order picking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Analysis Of Waking From Sleep Robert Bly s Waking from Sleep explores the thoughts and events that occur at night as the country recovers from the war that has just occurred. In the first stanza of the poem, the narrator is addressing the war, the reader can confirm this because he states tiny explosions at the waterlines (line2) and wind of the salty blood (line 3). The reader is immediately informed that a war has occurred because of the navies setting forth, tiny explosions and salty blood. In the second stanza, the narrator is describing the months after the war. The memories still remain of the tragic events that have occurred. In the third stanza things for the narrator start looking brighter. The country is now rising from bed and waking up. However, the memories of those who have passed away are remembered as their shouts are heard from the harbor. Throughout the fourth, and final stanza the country is healing. The country is singing, and dancing in the kitchen. The author portrays that those who are lost are never forgotten, and the country is reminded of their memories every morning at dawn when silence sweeps the nation. Bly s underlying theme of Waking from Sleep is that memories are often left behind after a traumatic life event. Bly often writes about the world that is going on around him. In his work he is often persuaded by the events going on in the world around him. Robert Bly has written poetry that is nonacademic, based in the natural world, the visionary, and the realm of ... • 47. Explain The Basic Process Of The Respiratory System Explain the basic process of the respiratory system from initial respiration through gas exchange. ➢ Inhaled air enters the nasal cavity, where it is cleaned, warmed and humidified on its way through the pharynx. ➢ After leaving the pharynx, air enters the ;larynx, where two pairs of ligaments, together with the mucosa covering them, forms the vestibular and vocal folds. These folds help prevent foreign particles, including food, from entering the lower respiratory system. ➢ Air next enters the trachea, which divides into two primary bronchi. As the bronchi enter the lungs they continue to divide into smaller bronchi, and ultimately into terminal bronchioles. ➢ Each terminal bronchiole divides repetitively to form respiratory bronchioles, alveolar ...
