Red Wrestling Narrative
I can remember my freshmen year one of my teammates got into a fight and kneed a Lehigh wrestler
in the face and knock him out after a match. Scuffles like these are frequent when our two teams
collide, tensions always run high when the big red encounter their brown and white counterparts. The
two colors may form a beautiful burgundy, but the two schools do not mix as well.
This is a date that is marked on everyone s calendar: fans, wrestlers, and coaches. We talk about this
match every year; it is a must win. In the center of this arena is a black and red wrestling mat in the
shape of a square, around 12 meters long on each side. The bleachers are pulled out waiting to be
filled by fans. But at the moment they are filled with famished men ... Show more content on

Then I run back to into my sanctuary where no one can see me expect my teammates, where no one
can bother me while I try to relax; the locker room. I put on my headphones and try to block out all
other background noise. I am afraid that the highs and lows of the match will exhaust me. I must stay
calm. As with the hour in between our match and weigh ins, time speeds up. I wish I had more time. I
can still feel that brick from the outside of the Friedman in my stomach. But I begin to go through my
pre match

get all the power. She saved the day, and went back to being a cop. Judy never gave on the challenge
she was given, the real world. At the end she left everyone with the words of: When I was a kid, I
thought Zootopia was this perfect place. Where everyone got along, and anyone could be what they

life is messy. We all have limitations, we all make mistakes. Which means hey, glass half full, we all

His key traits were determined, visionary, risk taker, tenacious, dedicated, high energy, caring,

individuals in the realization of success. He took a personal interest in all of his followers by paying
attention to their concerns and mentoring them (Alef 2009). He encouraged two way communications
between him and his followers to allow the people to express their views. He tolerated differences
among the employees and delegated most of the work to others. This leadership style is important as it
takes into consideration individual views of every person and makes the employees feel valued (Eeden
et al. 2008). Globalization has led to the establishment of multinational companies that draw their
employees from different backgrounds. There is need for leaders to understand their followers and
tolerate their differences for the success of the entire team. Hilton also inspired his followers towards
the attainment of common goals through a shared vision. He gave the employees a sense of belonging
by motivating them to continuously focus on company goals. His wide experience in politics, military,
and the entrepreneurial skills that he learned at his father`s store was a great inspiration to his
subordinates. The Hilton employees viewed Conrad as a role model due to the high moral standards

All Quiet On The Western Front Dehumanization Quotes
Dehumanization is the process of depriving people of human qualities (dictionary.com). In the book
Night by Elie Wiesel, it s based on an experience from one of the Holocaust survivors of how him and
his family, and how he was deprived of all his rights as a person in concentration camps in Auschwitz,
Germany. In the excerpt All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is based on an
experience from a soldier in Germany during WW1, and how he felt forgotten after fighting in the war
not important to anyone.
The novel Night by Elie Wiesel is a real life experience about a young boy and his family of how they
had to embark on a journey of being tortured for their religion. In the novel, he wonders if god is there
to help him. One boy was sentenced to death, he was hung by an SS Officer and Wiesel heard Where
is merciful God, where is he? (Wiesel 64) . This quote is an example of dehumanization because the
young boy was killed and people are wondering where is god, will he be there to help us? This is
important because he wants to know if there is someone who will have his back and keep him alive
through these rough times in his life.He knew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

everything. Remarque said, I am a soldier, I must cling to that (Remarque 8). Knowing that he fought
and survived is all he needs to feel important and not forgotten to himself or people who forgot about
him. While signing up for the war thinking he would be honored he hasn t felt like he should be

The Bluest Eye And Alison Bechdel s Fun Home Essay
Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye and Alison Bechdel s Fun Home are both novels that employ a
reflective narration of the past to address common themes of trauma, unorthodox family relationships,
and sexuality. Although they demonstrate pronounced differences in setting and design, both stories
utilize this retrospective narrative to expose masculinity s stratified hegemony as a driving force of
internalized shame, violence, and the death of self. Furthermore, it becomes clear that these shared
themes result from the intense pressure to conform to the asymmetrical hierarchy s ideal masculine
identity through an analysis of the characters Cholly and Bruce. Before examining these characters it
is important to define gender with the understanding that masculinity is a gendered hegemony. In her
definition of gender, Judith Halberstam notes that gender is socially systematized, performed, and
reproduced in cultures, institutions, and individual identities (Burgett, Bruce, and Hendler, 116). Mimi
Schippers expands this definition in her article on gendered violence, implying that masculinity is
central to gender relations. In short, Schippers defines masculinity as simultaneously a place in gender
relations, the practices through which men and women engage... in gender, and the effects of these
practices on bodily experience, personality, and culture (Schippers, 86). Here, masculinity is classified
as a social position, the set and practice of masculine qualities (substantially by

Theories Of Sexual Selection Theory And Social Role Theory
AbstractIn this paper will discuss the sexual selection theory and gender role theory. Then, what are
the main principles of each theory? Additionally, what position is taken by each theory on the origins,
development, and causal mechanisms of aggression? Moreover, give an example of aggressive
behavior that may be explained from the perspective of sexual selection and from the perspective of
social role theory that is not covered in the reading. Furthermore, discuss at least on psychological
phenomenon that may influence displays of aggressive behavior as explained by the sexual selection
theory and the social role theory.

Marginalization And Immigrants In The Shawl
Have you ever felt alone? Did you feel separated from the rest of society? As human beings, everyone
has experienced this at some point in their lives. There are many factors to take into account when
trying to figuring out why people seem to feel so marginalized or alienated. A group of people who
feel they are marginalized is immigrants. The experience of entering a new and unknown country is
difficult and can make the experience a struggle for different reasons. One reason is the lack of feeling
welcomed by the residents of that country. The biggest decision immigrants face, when entering a new
country, is whether they will be able to hold on to their own culture and heritage or if they will adaptor
the new culture they are being exposed to. Books tell a story and often time authors decided to
incorporate their own experiences into their novels. Two of these authors are Cynthia Ozick and Henry
Roth, both of whom have touched upon the Jewish American Experience. Ozick created characters
who handled the events from The Shawl in different ways throughout Rosa. Henry Roth incorporates
his childhood experiences and inner thoughts in Call It Sleep through the eyes of (name of main
character), the main character. Cynthia Ozick, author of (name of book), says she has always felt like
an outsider, when it comes to being Jewish because she did not experience the Holocaust first hand.

Parking Problems At The New Residence Halls
Parking on campus is a recurring problem throughout the years, but the most recent of these problems
has evolved into a catastrophe for and not so much for others. As the fall term came into place, more
and more parking was taken away for the new residence halls. Students regularly admit to hoping
other students would hurry and drop some of their classes, or that the students will go ahead and stop
coming to lectures so there is more parking available and less of a burden. However, the burden of
circling parking lots and the never ending loop of frustrating continues on for the fall term and more is
to come with the lack of parking the campus wishes to offer. The OU Daily has released statements in
articles concerning the matter. The new residence halls will also provide a parking garage or parking
lot in which has a capacity of 1200 1300 parking spots. This is a nice edition for the lack of parking,
but the new residence hall took the place of an old parking lot which held the capacity of 500 600
parking spots. Yes, the parking is nearly doubled, but what good will that doubled number do in
comparison to the number of students (approximately twenty two times the quantity of parking spaces
provided in said lot). The new residence halls may further establish a slightly more extensive parking
lot than previously seen on campus, but the couple hundred more spots available is minuscule in
comparison to the quantity of students and faculty members at the university. The amount

High School to NBA: Good or Bad?
Mel Plantenga
College Composition P.4/5
March 6, 2013
Some of the greatest stars in the NBA were drafted straight out of high school. Lebron James, Kobe
Bryant, and Dwight Howard are just a few examples. Even though, as of 2006, the NBA eligibility
rule states that a player entering the NBA draft must be at least nineteen years old and a year removed
from high school, it is still a huge debate in the sports world of whether or not this rule is the right
choice. Before the rule was set in place, NBA commissioner David Stern said, We have the right to set
an age limit in the collective bargaining agreement. I believe we can work together to come up with
something that is legally correct and will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the rule were to be changed to require two years of college, the players would be much more
experienced and would create a stronger group of rookies each year for the NBA. Imagine a young
man, straight out of high school, with dreams of playing in the NBA. What if he was one of the four
players who, between 1975 and 2001, declared for the draft straight out of high school never made it
to the NBA (Should high school players be eligible). What are his options after that? Sure, he could
always go to college, but what if he never applied to one? Another option is to play in a European
league, but how is an eighteen or nineteen year old expected to live on his own in a whole new
country? This is just one downfall to being able to enter the draft straight out of high school. While
many are successful, the young men who are not may be forced to give up their dream and must make
serious life decisions to move forward. For this reason alone, the rule should stay the same to allow
players to mature before they are able to enter the draft. The year of college basketball played is
monumental in the maturation of young players directly out of high school. High school basketball is
clearly a much different game than what is played in the NBA; the pace is slower and the plays are far
less complex. With this said, only few players are able to adapt to the fast pace of the NBA straight out
of high school. For the majority of the players unable to do so, their

The Plants of the Desert The brittle bush is a bush that grows across most of the Mojave Desert and
from March to June it thrives turning the desert yellow. Growing to around five foot these plants are
suited to this environment as they have a matt of short hairs that cover all the leaves. These hairs act as

the whole island until the 16th 17th century Tudor conquest. This led to colonisation of Ireland by
settlers from Britain. In the 1690s, a system of Protestant English rule was designed to materially
disadvantage the Catholic majority and Protestant dissenters, and was extended during the 18th

Central Land Issues Of The United States
Central Land Issues
In the United States, Long Island is one of the most densely populated regions where land is a hot
commodity. The population as of 2014 was over 7.8 million. As a result, of many people living in a
fixed area a large amount of waste starts to develop. Waste is being left behind after many human
activities. If nonbiodegradable products are not disposed of properly; the vast population growth is
forcing the further building of homes and roads which is encroaching upon natural habitats.
Since humans are moving into the natural habitats plant species are dwindling in numbers. Which
alters the habitats for which birds relied on for a camouflaged and protected home? Migratory birds
are also moving to other areas due to the land pollution. Human waste, cigarette butts, snack wrappers,
and beverage containers are all contributing to the growing land pollution.
Other pollution sources include chemical plants, coal fired power stations, oil refineries, nuclear waste
disposal activity, large animal farms, plastic factories, and metal production factories. The soil
becomes contaminated by many chemicals and pathogens; this passes on to humans through direct
contact via food and water. Overuse of pesticides and chemical fertilizers causes toxins to enter the
food chain.
There are critical environmental issues that result from land pollution. People live and work in areas
where land waste is dumped. Some toxic chemicals coming from waste causes deformities and are

How Did Tsar Nicholas II Create A Backwards Economy Of Russia
Introduction:
Unlike other countries having a democratic government, Russia was ruled by a monarchy, therefore
Nicholas II inherited the role of Tsar after his father passed away from kidney inflammation in 1894.
There were many reasons behind why Russia was considered as having a backwards economy and the
Russo Japanese War was a major setback for Russia. Bloody Sunday took place and shortly afterwards
Nicholas II was compelled to introduce the October Manifesto ... . Nicholas II
Tsar Nicholas II was a problem for the social, political and economic well being of the early Twentieth
Century Russia.
Russia s backwards economy:
Nicholas II was raised watching his father rule autocratically. He was not prepared by no means to
rule, and most likely took this as the best approach to ruling a country since it is how his father did.
Tsar Nicholas II refused to stray from what he knew, and more importantly what his father practised as
an autocrat whilst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With no workers, Russia was put under pressure as this meant no transport, schools, shops and
factories were in working order. They banded together for many destructive acts such as rioting,
stealing, street performances and destroying Tsarist authoritative symbols. This was a political issue
for Russia as workers were fighting for their rights.
October Manifesto:
Nicholas II introduced the October Manifesto on the 30th of October, 1905. Once the October
Manifesto was introduced to the people, they believed he was making a step in the right direction.
This piece of paper, written by Sergey Witte, promised political reforms after ten months of strikes, a
lot of political debate and attacks of violence. Little did the people of Russia realise that this was the
Tsar Nicholas II s plan to please, however he had no intentions of acting on this or changing his ways.

Constitutional tests can be applied to the above suggestions for teaching evolution, creationism, and
intelligent design in public schools. For the Lemon test, it could pass for the secular purpose if done
not to promote any particular religion but as an opportunity for students autonomy and it must be
optional. Allowing it in the schools as an elective covering multiple viewpoints does not advance
religion(s) by forcing it on anyone nor does it hinder religion(s) by keeping it from anyone. Keeping
out of the science classroom can help to prevent excessive entanglement. Including the teaching of
evolution, creationism, and intelligent design with the latter two as an elective could pass the Sherbert
test because as an elective the course does not interfere with the practice of religion(s), the compelling
interest could be met because keeping it separate avoids excessive entanglement and uses science time
for science instead of debates that distract from class time, also avoiding a possible altercation or mob

be seen to promote religion just by allowing it in there, if communicated clearly, it could pass because
it is promoting the optional study of religion(s) and without favoring one over another, or encouraging
not discouraging any religion. Teaching evolution, creationism, and intelligent design in public

A Report On The Concrete, Fly Ash, Sodium Silicate
KEY WORDS
Geopolymer concrete, Fly ash, Sodium Silicate, Sodium Hydroxide, curing.
INTRODUCTION
In 1978, Davidovits suggested that a binder could be generated by a polymerization process including
a response between soluble fluids and mixes containing aluminium and silicon. The folios made were
termed as geo polymers . Not at all like normal Portland/ pozzolanic bonds, geopolymers don t frame
calcium silicate hydrates (CSHs) for matrix formative and strength , yet silica and alumina responding
with an alkaline solution and creates an alumina silicate gel that ties the aggregates and gives the
strength of concrete ,source materials and antacid fluids/alkaline fluids are the tow primary
constituents of geo polymers, the strengths of which rely on the nature of the materials and the sorts of
fluids.
Materials containing silicon (Si) and aluminum (Al) in indistinct structure, which originate from
characteristic materials or by item materials, could be utilized as source materials for geopolymers.
kaolinite, clay, etc., are incorporated into the common materials bunch though fly cinder, silica smoke,
granulated ground blast slag, rice husk fiery debris, red mud etc., are by products obtained from

on their accessibility and expense, the sort of utilization and the particular interest of the clients. Fly

Types of data to be collected:
1. Sickness Records: This type of data/report may be collected periodically (monthly or quarterly) and
compared or analysed against each employee s attendance records. This helps the human resources to
manage the attendance record of the organisation accurately and inform line managers of the constant
attendance offenders in order to discourage further occurrences or for long term sicknesses that need
the company s support.
2. Another type of data that may be useful for the human resources department of an organisation is
the contact details for each employee especially home addresses. This is essential if a correspondence
needs to be sent out to each employee, such as contracts, payslips and pensions or leave information.
It is important for each employee to receive the appropriate communication and not to be ignored.

Social Identity Theory
In Racial and Ethnic Relations, Feagin and Feagin explore important matters of Culture and Ethnic
groups to better understand the presence of discrimination and prejudices that we see in modern
society. It is through their specific analysis of prejudice and stereotypes that we are introduced to this
term called ethnocentrism. As they reference the definition of ethnocentrism made available by
William G. Sumner, it is described as believing the group that you culturally or socially identify with
to be central in society and all the other groups are only seen as something relative to the group that
you belong in (11.) This term can be further investigated with the introduction of a psychology theory
called the social identity theory. It proposes that discrimination is used to strengthen one s social
identity and improve one s self image. Basically, it further concretes the us and them (or in group and
out group) mentalities through the attribution of negative qualities to the out group. It is the presence
of ethnocentrism and the negative implications of the social identity theory that it relates to that we
can best understand and evaluate the structure and social experiences of those who are forced into the
out group positions. This term can be further investigated through the analysis of text from M.
Butterfly by David Henry Hwang. It is through his parody of the opera Madama Buterfly in which
Puccini pushes racial stereotypes through the actions of the character Cio

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Housemaids
Introduction For this project, I investigate the current debate surrounding the idea of keeping

or bad idea. Besides, because our values and norms are changed; as well as, our behaviors and
thoughts are changed by technology and globalization. In the past, there were no housemaids and the
parents have to serve themselves; in contrast, now, both parents are working, so they need somebody

The sub reasons are parents don t know to deal with children as this research stated that housemaids
know things about the children more than their parents. Besides, this research reported that housemaid
was treating the child harshly, that is because housemaids see this work as a job to have money which
means they are not parents.
Conclusion/Recommendations
To conclude, leaving the children with housemaids can create problems; for example, they will make
unethical behaviors, they will be close to the children more than their parents and they will impact the
children s language.
However, you can solve those problems by putting your children in daycare or nursery school where
can play and interact with other children instead of picking up a new language or bad behaviors. The
second solution is living with a big family that children can communicate more with people from
same beliefs and behaviors. The last solution, if the parents decide to have children, one of them has to

Social Worker Self Analysis
2. This week (3/28) I shadowed a Social Worker (Ms. Lloyd) and we went to a nursing home. She is
an Option Counselor for the agency. An Option Counselor is a person that is called once someone is
transitioning from the nursing home and they are asking for more information on their options for
housing and services outside of the nursing home. I also went to a Senior Delta Luncheon (3/29) with
Ms. Averret (supervisor). At the luncheon Ms. Averret spoke to the seniors about the services that the
agency offers and also gave out flyers to upcoming events. I was there to pass out brochures about the
agency. I am still working on my training to help with counseling seniors about Medicare and data
entry (3/30 3/31). 3. Value: Dignity and Worth of the Person 1.02 Self Determination Although I only
shadowed while at the nursing home, I felt that Ms.Lloyd showed this value. I was able to watch how
Ms.Lloyd gave options for transitioning out of the nursing home to this elderly lady and also listened
to her to see what she wanted to do. She didn t just tell her what she needed to do, but asked her what
she would like to do once she left the nursing home. Ms. Llyod asked a numerous of ... Show more

This week when I went to the Senior Delta luncheon Ms.Averret didn t really have nothing for me to
do there, but she wanted me to come with her. I made myself useful and took the initiative to get a
table to set up with the flyers, brochures, and bags from the agency. I also got the sign in sheet that the
agency has for every event so that they will be able to keep up with the numbers on how many people
they are giving out information to. They also use the sign in sheet to get their contact information so
that they can follow up with them just in case they would like more information. I made sure that
everyone signed in and got the information that was on the table. At this event I noticed that you can

The Problem Within Fice Of Appeals Essay
Describe the Problem: Describe the situation surrounding your problem/project in detail and include
the stakeholders, their expectations, and the impact of the project on them.
The situation surrounding the problem within the Office of Appeals is adapting from seeing things as
they are to seeing things as they could be. It is time to move into the fast pace and changing
technology world. The Office of Appeals must be equipped with today s technology to ensure that our
beneficiaries and stakeholders receive information and assistance as quickly and efficiently as
possible. By instituting a new tracking system, the Division of Medicaid could greatly improve the
quality or services it provides to its beneficiaries and stakeholders.
In my opinion, it is the desire of the beneficiary to receive the results of their application in a timely
manner. A new appeal tracking system would minimize the time in providing hearing notification to
the beneficiaries we serve. By utilizing the most recent program software, it will allow the Office of
Appeals to thoroughly track an appeal from the beginning to the final administrative decision.
Identify Major Issues: Describe the major issues, both current and historical that may or have
impacted the need for the project.
The Agency must take final administrative action on a hearing within 90 days of the date of the initial
request. Although, the 90 day timeframe allowed pursuant to regulations, the Agency makes every
effort to conduct

Modern Day Fighters Research Paper
Extenuating circumstances, better known as the modern day escape hatch. Yeah, that s a pretty fuckin
harsh prononcment but I m not the kinda guy who is gonna waste time waxing poetic. I ve gone on the
record as sayin that I hate the extracurricular fireworks that go on in this business. To me our job as
fighters is simple: we show up, beat the hell of each other and get paid. It d be great if that was what it
was like but nope there always has to be a catch with the modern day fighter. There are mouths that
have to be run and egos whose dicks need to be stroked. All that shit leads the majority of modern day
fighters to do seedy shit that fuckin ain t right. Slanderin and injurin other fighters without a care;
without a thought of repercussion; always with an excuse, extenuating circumstances, to wriggle out
of potential punishment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Lgbt Rights Of Americ A Social Effort
The Road To LGBT Rights In America : A Social Effort
Imagine a world where the identity of a person jeopardizes their safety, that they must live in fear of
the world around them simply for being who they are; this is the world of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,
and Transgender (LGBT) community. Despite the strides made to improve the conditions for this
group, they are still under much scrutiny as society and the government adapts to their presence. The
general public has maintained an uneasy balance of contentedness and bias, whereas the government
cannot decide its stance on the issue.
The LGBT community s adversity has persisted for quite some time in America, and has achieved
federal attention as early as 1986, during the case of Bowers v. Hardwick. In 1986, the American
Supreme Court accepted a case from Georgia regarding consensual sodomy. Hardwick claimed the
Georgia statute which criminalized sodomy was unconstitutional. Unfortunately, the majority opinion
moved in favor of Bowers, upholding the statute on the grounds that morals are allowed to dictate
legislation. This was the popular belief at the time, where strong morals and family tradition was not
just a belief, but the way of American life. The dissenting opinion contested this, claiming the case
was not a matter of whether the law was constitutional, but whether it infringed on the civil liberty of
privacy. A regretful outcome, as the majority opinion would pave the way for further discrimination

Homeschooling Is More Beneficial For A Student
Times have drastically changed in the twenty first century, one of them being education. Many aspects
are considered when parents choose how they would like to educate their child. Aspects such as
academics, sports, learning accommodations, finances, student performance, and social life may all be
factors in the final decision. Over the past ten years, homeschooling has become increasingly popular
among Americans. According to Brian D. Ray from National Home Education Research Institute,
there are over 2.2 million homeschooled students in the United States. Although public schooling can
have its benefits, homeschooling is more beneficial for a student in today s society. Homeschooling,
also known as home education, is self explanatory. Home education is the educating of children or
students inside one s home, usually instructed by a parent or tutor. One of the most prominent reasons
for this is because of religious reasons. Other reasons may include, learning differences, family
reasons, or even educational/academic reasons. The most popular homeschooling styles include,
school at home, unschooling, Charlotte Mason, Montessori, relaxed/eclectic, classical, Waldorf, or
multiple intelligence. School at home is the most expensive method of schooling. It includes buying a
boxed curriculum that comes with textbooks, schedules, and a grade keeper. Unschooling is student
led, and the curriculum is based on real life experiences and does not use lesson plans or textbooks. It

US$750 million ordinary stock issued by Lenovo. The remaining US$1.5 billion will be paid to
Google by using three year promissory note. In this paper, we just consider the transaction between
Lenovo and Motorola Mobility. Allocation of acquisition differential (see Exhibit 1) The purchase
consideration paid for 100% of Motorola Mobility was $3.09 billion, including cash paid,

Bank Robber And Capiche
I think the central message of this short story is to live life with purpose and originality. In this story, I
hated Anders from the second he started smart mouthing the bank teller. Then, I thought he was just an
arrogant idiot when he was mocking the bank robber. I felt that he deserved getting shot and he
basically asked for it. This dialogue especially gave me the inkling he was eager to get shot; The bank
robber and Anders exchanged words, You think you can fuck with me? No. Fuck with me again, you
re history. Capiche? Anders burst our laughing. He covered his mouth with both hands and said, I m
sorry, I m sorry, then snorted helplessly through his fingers and said, Capiche oh, God, capiche, After

Determining Optimum Temperature and Ph for Enzymatic...
Enzymes lower the activation energy of chemical reactions but they themselves are not consumed or
altered when doing so. These catalysts work best at optimum temperatures and pH s. The temperature
and pH at which the reaction occurs the quickest is the ideal condition for the enzymatic reaction.
Alpha amylase converts starch into glucose and when starch is combined with I2KI indicator a dark
purple solution forms. As the enzyme breaks down the starch the absorbency will decrease. The
absorbency is measured through the spectrophotometer which reads the transmittance of the
wavelengths that pass through the solution. In order to determine the optimum temperature for the
enzymatic reaction water bath of varying temperatures were made. To ... Show more content on

Materials and Methods A blank cuvette was created in order to set the spectrophotometers absorbance
to zero. Contained in this cuvette was 5mL of distilled water and 0.1mL of I2KI indicator. This was
used to recalibrate the spectrophotometer between the temperature and pH trials (Vliet, 2007).
To determine the most favorable temperature for the reaction of alpha amylase s enzymatic conversion
of starch to glucose water baths of various temperatures were used. First a stock solution was prepared
prior to the experiment; it included alpha amylase, I2KI indicator and .0033 g/ml of starch. Thirty five
mL of this solution was then combined with 35mL of distilled water into an Erlenmeyer flask in order
to create the reaction flask. The flask was then added into one of the various water bath temperatures,
15, 35, 45, 55, 65 and 70 #61616; C. The reaction flask needed to be in the water baths long enough
for it to reach the required temperature before the enzyme was added. 0.1mL of I2KI indicator was
then added to each of the twelve cuvettes which were used in the timed readings. Then 5mL of the
solution from the reaction flask was transferred into one of the cuvettes which contained I2KI
indicator. Next, the starch iodine complexes absorbance were read on the spectrophotometer and
recorded onto the appropriate table. Then, 1mL of alpha amylase was added into the reaction flask to
begin the reaction, once

The Island Of The Galapagos Archipeggio
Isabela Island, the largest island of the Galápagos archipeggio, seemed to rise straight out of the water.
The sedimentary rock cliffs were rusty brown, but were covered with life. Red and black crabs rested
on the surface, while blue footed boobies gracefully dived into the water to catch sardines. Baby nazca
boobies peered out of their nests to see a small inflatable boat, known as a panga, bobbing in the
water. Our guide, Christina, enthusiastically shared her knowledge of these animals to my family. This
wildlife viewing boat ride was our plan for the afternoon. But things changed. As things always
change.
The sun was starting to set in the west, over the Bolivar Channel. The sea seemed calm, but a bird
would occasionally skim the surface. My family and I watched the horizon intently. The Bolivar
Channel was known for having the best marine wildlife viewings in the Galápagos. In the far distance,
water was displaced. Mist flew in the air, forming the shape of a miniature fountain. Could it be a
whale spout? Or was it just my imagination? Quietly, I told my sister Raley. However, it was not quiet
enough. Christina heard and immediately started to scour the area with her binoculars. What if there
was no marine life in the area? I was convinced I would die of embarrassment.
Suddenly, Christina dropped her binoculars.
I see it! It s a whale spout!
Immediately, our panga raced off full speed to the location of the whale spout. However, as we inched
closer to our

Term Limits Analysis
The Supreme Court is a critical part of our government. As such, we need the very best and most
capable judges to serve on the bench of the court. Unfortunately, there have been several cases where
judges have stayed on the court way to long. For example, Philip Cattan fell asleep during a rape trial,
and was allowed to remain a judge . (Daily Mail, 2016). Therefore, term limits are a good idea
because it would reduce the impact of judges medical issues on the court, changing judges more often
would result in judges who are more in touch with society, and the majority of people in the United
States support the idea of the term limits for the Supreme Court. Having term limits would be an

Democrats, and independents support term limits. As a matter of fact, John Fund states that A Gallup
survey from Jan. 2013 found that 751% of Americans including huge majorities of Republicans,
Democrats, and independents support term limits on congress . (John Fund, 2014) Having term limits
is just a great idea. Term limits are not only good for the Supreme Court, but also us. It would be
reducing medical issues, allowing younger judges who are in touch with society take charge, and also
it would be taking the peoples vote who support term limits. Judges who are in touch with society
should be allowed to take charge and make better laws. Most of the United States citizens would be

  • 2. Red Wrestling Narrative I can remember my freshmen year one of my teammates got into a fight and kneed a Lehigh wrestler in the face and knock him out after a match. Scuffles like these are frequent when our two teams collide, tensions always run high when the big red encounter their brown and white counterparts. The two colors may form a beautiful burgundy, but the two schools do not mix as well. This is a date that is marked on everyone s calendar: fans, wrestlers, and coaches. We talk about this match every year; it is a must win. In the center of this arena is a black and red wrestling mat in the shape of a square, around 12 meters long on each side. The bleachers are pulled out waiting to be filled by fans. But at the moment they are filled with famished men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then I run back to into my sanctuary where no one can see me expect my teammates, where no one can bother me while I try to relax; the locker room. I put on my headphones and try to block out all other background noise. I am afraid that the highs and lows of the match will exhaust me. I must stay calm. As with the hour in between our match and weigh ins, time speeds up. I wish I had more time. I can still feel that brick from the outside of the Friedman in my stomach. But I begin to go through my pre match ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He encouraged two way communications between him and his followers to allow the people to express their views. He tolerated differences among the employees and delegated most of the work to others. This leadership style is important as it takes into consideration individual views of every person and makes the employees feel valued (Eeden et al. 2008). Globalization has led to the establishment of multinational companies that draw their employees from different backgrounds. There is need for leaders to understand their followers and tolerate their differences for the success of the entire team. Hilton also inspired his followers towards the attainment of common goals through a shared vision. He gave the employees a sense of belonging by motivating them to continuously focus on company goals. His wide experience in politics, military, and the entrepreneurial skills that he learned at his father`s store was a great inspiration to his subordinates. • 9. The Bluest Eye And Alison Bechdel s Fun Home Essay Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye and Alison Bechdel s Fun Home are both novels that employ a reflective narration of the past to address common themes of trauma, unorthodox family relationships, and sexuality. Although they demonstrate pronounced differences in setting and design, both stories utilize this retrospective narrative to expose masculinity s stratified hegemony as a driving force of internalized shame, violence, and the death of self. Furthermore, it becomes clear that these shared themes result from the intense pressure to conform to the asymmetrical hierarchy s ideal masculine identity through an analysis of the characters Cholly and Bruce. Before examining these characters it is important to define gender with the understanding that masculinity is a gendered hegemony. In her definition of gender, Judith Halberstam notes that gender is socially systematized, performed, and reproduced in cultures, institutions, and individual identities (Burgett, Bruce, and Hendler, 116). Mimi Schippers expands this definition in her article on gendered violence, implying that masculinity is central to gender relations. In short, Schippers defines masculinity as simultaneously a place in gender relations, the practices through which men and women engage... in gender, and the effects of these practices on bodily experience, personality, and culture (Schippers, 86). • 12. Marginalization And Immigrants In The Shawl Have you ever felt alone? Did you feel separated from the rest of society? As human beings, everyone has experienced this at some point in their lives. There are many factors to take into account when trying to figuring out why people seem to feel so marginalized or alienated. A group of people who feel they are marginalized is immigrants. The experience of entering a new and unknown country is difficult and can make the experience a struggle for different reasons. One reason is the lack of feeling welcomed by the residents of that country. The biggest decision immigrants face, when entering a new country, is whether they will be able to hold on to their own culture and heritage or if they will adaptor the new culture they are being exposed to. Books tell a story and often time authors decided to incorporate their own experiences into their novels. Two of these authors are Cynthia Ozick and Henry Roth, both of whom have touched upon the Jewish American Experience. • 13. Parking Problems At The New Residence Halls Parking on campus is a recurring problem throughout the years, but the most recent of these problems has evolved into a catastrophe for and not so much for others. As the fall term came into place, more and more parking was taken away for the new residence halls. Students regularly admit to hoping other students would hurry and drop some of their classes, or that the students will go ahead and stop coming to lectures so there is more parking available and less of a burden. However, the burden of circling parking lots and the never ending loop of frustrating continues on for the fall term and more is to come with the lack of parking the campus wishes to offer. The OU Daily has released statements in articles concerning the matter. The new residence halls will also provide a parking garage or parking lot in which has a capacity of 1200 1300 parking spots. This is a nice edition for the lack of parking, but the new residence hall took the place of an old parking lot which held the capacity of 500 600 parking spots. Yes, the parking is nearly doubled, but what good will that doubled number do in comparison to the number of students (approximately twenty two times the quantity of parking spaces provided in said lot). The new residence halls may further establish a slightly more extensive parking lot than previously seen on campus, but the couple hundred more spots available is minuscule in comparison to the quantity of students and faculty members at the university. If the rule were to be changed to require two years of college, the players would be much more experienced and would create a stronger group of rookies each year for the NBA. Imagine a young man, straight out of high school, with dreams of playing in the NBA. What if he was one of the four players who, between 1975 and 2001, declared for the draft straight out of high school never made it to the NBA (Should high school players be eligible). What are his options after that? Sure, he could always go to college, but what if he never applied to one? Another option is to play in a European league, but how is an eighteen or nineteen year old expected to live on his own in a whole new country? This is just one downfall to being able to enter the draft straight out of high school. While many are successful, the young men who are not may be forced to give up their dream and must make serious life decisions to move forward. For this reason alone, the rule should stay the same to allow players to mature before they are able to enter the draft. The year of college basketball played is monumental in the maturation of young players directly out of high school. High school basketball is clearly a much different game than what is played in the NBA; the pace is slower and the plays are far less complex. Jack, the owner of Jack s Ranch said he was petrified as the new extraterrestrial space being approached him rapidly. Social Identity Theory In Racial and Ethnic Relations, Feagin and Feagin explore important matters of Culture and Ethnic groups to better understand the presence of discrimination and prejudices that we see in modern society. It is through their specific analysis of prejudice and stereotypes that we are introduced to this term called ethnocentrism. As they reference the definition of ethnocentrism made available by William G. Sumner, it is described as believing the group that you culturally or socially identify with to be central in society and all the other groups are only seen as something relative to the group that you belong in (11.) This term can be further investigated with the introduction of a psychology theory called the social identity theory. It proposes that discrimination is used to strengthen one s social identity and improve one s self image. Basically, it further concretes the us and them (or in group and out group) mentalities through the attribution of negative qualities to the out group. It is the presence of ethnocentrism and the negative implications of the social identity theory that it relates to that we can best understand and evaluate the structure and social experiences of those who are forced into the out group positions. This term can be further investigated through the analysis of text from M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang. In the past, there were no housemaids and the parents have to serve themselves; in contrast, now, both parents are working, so they need somebody to help them at home and to look after their children. Conclusion/Recommendations To conclude, leaving the children with housemaids can create problems; for example, they will make unethical behaviors, they will be close to the children more than their parents and they will impact the children s language. However, you can solve those problems by putting your children in daycare or nursery school where can play and interact with other children instead of picking up a new language or bad behaviors. The situation surrounding the problem within the Office of Appeals is adapting from seeing things as they are to seeing things as they could be. It is time to move into the fast pace and changing technology world. The Office of Appeals must be equipped with today s technology to ensure that our beneficiaries and stakeholders receive information and assistance as quickly and efficiently as possible. The Lgbt Rights Of Americ A Social Effort The Road To LGBT Rights In America : A Social Effort Imagine a world where the identity of a person jeopardizes their safety, that they must live in fear of the world around them simply for being who they are; this is the world of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community. Despite the strides made to improve the conditions for this group, they are still under much scrutiny as society and the government adapts to their presence. The general public has maintained an uneasy balance of contentedness and bias, whereas the government cannot decide its stance on the issue. The LGBT community s adversity has persisted for quite some time in America, and has achieved federal attention as early as 1986, during the case of Bowers v. Hardwick. In 1986, the American Supreme Court accepted a case from Georgia regarding consensual sodomy. Hardwick claimed the Georgia statute which criminalized sodomy was unconstitutional. Unfortunately, the majority opinion moved in favor of Bowers, upholding the statute on the grounds that morals are allowed to dictate legislation. This was the popular belief at the time, where strong morals and family tradition was not just a belief, but the way of American life. The dissenting opinion contested this, claiming the case was not a matter of whether the law was constitutional, but whether it infringed on the civil liberty of privacy. These catalysts work best at optimum temperatures and pH s. The temperature and pH at which the reaction occurs the quickest is the ideal condition for the enzymatic reaction. Alpha amylase converts starch into glucose and when starch is combined with I2KI indicator a dark purple solution forms. As the enzyme breaks down the starch the absorbency will decrease. The absorbency is measured through the spectrophotometer which reads the transmittance of the wavelengths that pass through the solution. Materials and Methods A blank cuvette was created in order to set the spectrophotometers absorbance to zero. Contained in this cuvette was 5mL of distilled water and 0.1mL of I2KI indicator. This was used to recalibrate the spectrophotometer between the temperature and pH trials (Vliet, 2007). To determine the most favorable temperature for the reaction of alpha amylase s enzymatic conversion of starch to glucose water baths of various temperatures were used. First a stock solution was prepared prior to the experiment; it included alpha amylase, I2KI indicator and .0033 g/ml of starch. Thirty five mL of this solution was then combined with 35mL of distilled water into an Erlenmeyer flask in order to create the reaction flask. The flask was then added into one of the various water bath temperatures, 15, 35, 45, 55, 65 and 70 #61616; C. The reaction flask needed to be in the water baths long enough for it to reach the required temperature before the enzyme was added. 0.1mL of I2KI indicator was then added to each of the twelve cuvettes which were used in the timed readings. Then 5mL of the solution from the reaction flask was transferred into one of the cuvettes which contained I2KI indicator. Next, the starch iodine complexes absorbance were read on the spectrophotometer and recorded onto the appropriate table. Baby nazca boobies peered out of their nests to see a small inflatable boat, known as a panga, bobbing in the water. Our guide, Christina, enthusiastically shared her knowledge of these animals to my family. This wildlife viewing boat ride was our plan for the afternoon. But things changed. As things always change.
