Religious Expression In Public Schools
For many years, schools have struggled to decide on whether to give students the freedom of religious
expression at school. This difficult topic is especially prevalent in many public schools today. Most
public schools comply with the separation of church and state by instating rules against any kind of
religious expression, essentially mandating conformity among students in terms of religious
expression. Some schools, however, have decided to place no restrictions on religious expression. This
serves to promote individual freedom among students. Even if it may seem that schools strongly differ
when it comes to religious expression, schools do have something in common pertaining to this issue.
They all believe that the unique decision they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all, it is the school s job to educate our future generation so they are equipped for a world
containing a multitude of religious aspects even if doing so in an indirect manner. Providing students
the freedom to practice whichever religion they choose restricts feelings of pressure to withhold their
religious expression; something they would have to withhold in the name of conformity at some
public schools. As students become inevitably educated about religion through religious expression
around them, they steadily become less intolerant of other religions besides their own. The students
become accepting of the reality that we live in where many different religious beliefs exist among
people in all areas of life. This effect closely mirrors the attitude that these students will have towards
religion in the real world. Not only does exposure to religious expression benefit the students and the
school, but it furthermore benefits the world as a whole by moving the future generation away from
religious intolerance. This creates a world where people can be comfortable and sure in their religion
due to the lack of intolerance directed towards them. Currently, however, religiously motivated hate
crimes are on the rise. In 2004, about 10 percent of all hate crimes were religiously motivated−
compared to 28 percent today (Jackson 1). This is an example of religious intolerance in today s world
which can be remedied by educating the future generation about religion through allowing religious
expression at school. The religious tolerance that is subsequently developed among these students is
what this world so desperately

A Report On The Underwater World
I throw on all of my gear on my back and shuffle to the end of the boat to jump off into the deep ocean
below. I hold my mask and regulator tight onto my face as I take the plunge. The underwater world
takes on a new persona as its inhabitants are magnified through my goggles. Bubbles float up past my
head as I slowly and deeply breathe through my regulator while keeping my body neutrally buoyant to
prevent myself from touching the marine life below. My fins cut through the water as they attempt to
propel me against the strong ocean current over large kelp forests. Fish of all shapes and sizes swim
up to investigate who I am and what I am doing in their underwater world.
I was lucky enough during spring break to take part in an Open Water scuba diving course and receive
my diving certification that allows me to dive anywhere in the world up to eighteen meters deep. Over
the weekend, I headed down first to Rye Pier and then Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park in
Victoria to give diving in the ocean a try after taking my first few breaths underwater in a local pool.
We began with shore dives and proceeded to diving off a boat once we felt comfortable in the ocean.
Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park was established in November of 2002 as marine conservation
awareness became more prevalent in Victoria as well as throughout Australia. It is home to six marine
areas (Swan Bay, Mud Islands, Point Lonsdale, and Point Nepean) along with the two dive sites that
we explored:

Crossing State Park. The park section where we stayed was 74.862940 degrees south (Longitude) and
40.313780 degrees east (Latitude). We went there at 2:20 PM and returned at 3:51 PM. The objectives
of my observation was to clearly identify the energy flow in the environment while observing the flora
and fauna of the area. The temperature for the past few days was around 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit

Living Conditions During Ww2
Several conditions in the Nazi concentration camps and work camps made it very hard for children to
survive. The camps were tremendously ruthless. The epidemics that broke out in the camps, including
the awful living conditions were very diverse mainly during the years that the camps operated. They
were also uniquely contrasting in each different camp. Whereas many other conditions such as,
executions, hard labor, etc. had a great effect of death of the children, some conditions were worse
than others causing the children to pass away real quick. Medical experiments and living conditions
had the greatest effect of death of children in the Nazi work camps during WWII. Not only were the
children involuntarily used for medical experiments they were also forced to live in brutal living
conditions.
Children died very easily because of how they were being treated. They became very weak. They were
not fed the right amount of calories and were not treated properly. Feeding the prisoners in the
concentration camps was a big issue during the holocaust. The Jewish prisoners were fed three times
thought the day which was spread out evenly between the morning, noon and evening. It wasn t

The Continuity Of Life Chapter 1 Summary
Chapter 9 The Continuity of Life: Cellular Reproduction Summary (184)
Reproduction is important for the survival of all living things. Without a mechanism for reproduction,
life would come to an end. There are two types of reproduction to learn in elementary grades, asexual
and sexual reproduction. Many teachers are afraid of discussing reproduction, but if presented as a
factual lesson it is easy for the students to understand the principles without the standard giggles.
Asexual reproduction refers to simple cell division that produces an exact duplicate of an organism.
There are many different types of asexual reproduction which can be discussed to show students the
variability of modes of reproduction. Some single celled organisms reproduce by simple cell division,
this is called binary fission. In this manner, the mother cell simply splits in half producing two
daughter cells. Some cells reproduce by unequal division of the cells, this is called budding. In this
process the bud forms as a knob on the mother cell. The nucleus divides and identical parts go to the
mother cell and the bud. The bud may grow until it is as large as the mother cell and can form buds of
its own. In some cases buds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History Of Production Logging Into Four Periods
(Ding Z. X. 1992) divided the history of production logging into four periods in which each period is
characterized by new and different tools and interpretation.
The first period (late 1930 to late 1940s): in this period temperature sensors were used to locate fluid
entries in wellbore. The interpretation was qualitative.
Second period (late 1940s to mid 1960s):
Different flowmeter and pressure measurements were added to temperature tools in order to detect
different type of fluid produced or injected. He also argued the objective or applications of production

Such as permeability, litho logy and skin damage. Measuring flow rate and pressure immediately
above a producing zone not only reduces wellbore storage effects but also makes it practical to run
transient tests without shutting in a well and hating production. According to Caivin kessier and (Gray
Frisch, 1998) (1995) in recent years a new generation of well logging tool string developed which is
better than the older type of the tool. This new sensors reports to the full cross sectional area of the
production toolbars (casing, tubing or slotted liner) occupied by gas and liquid. From this response,
the holdup fractions for liquid and gas can be determined. The fullbore measurement eliminates
previous uncertainties in holdup fraction that can occur when flowing conditions are none uniform or
when water cut is high.
Single pass interpretation is the most straightforward but slightest dependable strategy for spinner
interpretation which utilizes a single logging run and depends on a direct spinner reaction to aggregate
stream rate. With this technique, the highest spinner reaction (most importantly holes) is as marked
100% in stream and the least spinner reaction is thought to be in static liquid and in this way is
allocated 0% in stream. Anytime in the middle of, the in flow rate is expected relative to spinner
reaction. Improvement of the multiple array

Andrew, Matt, and Steve. With their new proclaimed powers, the development of the fantastic
character Andrew Detmer is evident through Andrew s desire to have freedom, believing that he is
superior to every other human being, and Andrew s powers acting as a release for his anger.
Andrew s development as a person involves being a free, he wants to be able to do whatever he wants

by saying that he cannot be told what to do. As his ego gets bigger and power strengthens, he realizes
that he chooses what he can or cannot do, and no one can stop him. When Andrew, Matt, and Steve go

Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue
Section One: The Prologue 208 09 Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue is generally considered one of her
most vivid statements regarding her role in a Puritan society. This is a poem where she reveals who
she is to her readers. Bradstreet is critical of those individuals who place restrictions on women s roles
in society, especially in consideration of a female writer in a male dominated environment. In the first
few stanzas Bradstreet talks about how her ability as a poet is not up to the task, unlike the work of
men. This is implied when she mentions that Let Poets and Historians set these forth. My obscure

In the first lines of her poem she describes how a pilgrim reaches his goal. She references the pilgrim
as a symbol of determination and perseverance to be followed, especially when hoping to attain a
dream. Being a pilgrim herself, and living in a Puritan society, her audience was able to relate to her
plight and feelings about the journeys that are taken throughout one s life. In this poem, Bradstreet
uses her skills to compare the voyage to America from England to the journey a religious person is to
take to Heaven from Earth. Now that the journey of the pilgrim has ended, he no longer has to endure
the hardships of the trip to his destination, his dangers past, and travails done. However, in order to
reach his destination the pilgrim has made sacrifices, like leaving things behind. Otherwise he wouldn
t have been able to accomplish his feat, and therefore, to All cares and fears he bids farewell . Later
one Bradstreet contemplates how the pilgrim has been successful in his achievement, and how she
herself wanted to be part of such journey. Bradstreet sees herself in the image of the pilgrim,
renouncing to the world in her way to Heaven. She feels tempted, but obeys the will of God.
Bradstreet reminds others that while it is not easy to live a sinless life, the reward at the end is worth
all the effort. She understands the difficulties of her plan, and longs to be at rest and soar on high
among the blest. Although the journey is lengthy and arduous, Bradstreet realizes that there are still
many years before she achieves her goal, years in which she will have to continue following the
Commandments and struggling against the society she has been born in. Still, she continues her
journey, weary, but hoping for rest, until the day she completes her voyage to eternal life in

Deaf Listening Analysis
Whether an individual is blind, deaf, or contain all of the five senses, every individual is capable of

noises into thoughtful consideration, or a blind individual not being able to see body gestures and

Francois Rabelais And Thomas More Dystopia
The word utopia descended from a Greek word meaning no place and today is defined by the Oxford
English Dictionary as an imagined or hypothetical place, system, or state of existence in which
everything is perfect, especially in respect of social structure, laws and politics (). Both Francois
Rabelais and Thomas More describes the Utopic world to depict the ideal human society, however,
both texts describe a society in which dystopian features are extremely emphasized. This shows that
there is a thin line between an orderly society and a repressive dystopian one. Historically, Utopia has
been considered by its values of egalitarianism: it has no class divisions; people have economic
freedom and stability, and have free will and lastly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thomas More offers a highly ordered society. ....one occupation at which everyone works, ... trained
in it from childhood... (). People are working in agriculture, which they practice from childhood. This
means that no one is really offered the opportunity of individual expression and practice what they
want. And furthermore, if these people want to learn another trade, he or she requires a permission.
Commonsense permission clearly means that these people have no free will. Moreover, despite the
abundance of everything everyone is wearing the same thing. And if a person want to visit a friend or
wants to travel just to discover a new place, he or she requires a permission. Thus, although the
opportunities to have everything and travel around, no one use can benefit from those opportunities.
This simply shows that people are without free will and obliged to a highly ordered system. In Abbey
of Theleme, on the other hand, it seems initially that people have their free will and can govern their
lives as they wish to. Rabelais says ...their lives were not ordered and governed by laws and statutes
and rules, but according to their own free will... (). He demonstrates that women and men of Theleme
governed their lives, got up when they wish and worked when feel like. In other words, there were no
obligations. Commonsense no obligations mean free will.

Antipsychotic Therapy For Schizophrenia Essay
Medications used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia are often used when the individual is in a state
of psychosis. These medications are commonly antipsychotics, but can also include atypical
antipsychotics as well. Types of antipsychotics include phenothiazines, chlorpromazines,
butyrophenones, and thioxanthenes. Phenothiazines work by blocking dopamine receptors in the
brain, preventing excess stimulation and thus reduced symptoms. All antipsychotic medications do
help reduce positive symptoms, but none reduce negative symptoms. However, they also result in
many negative motor side effects. Atypical antipsychotics work by influencing serotonin receptors and
typically have less motor side effects than antipsychotics. Some of these medications include
clozapine, olanzapine, and risperdone. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nitrogen Essay
Nitrogen
Nitrogen, symbol N, gaseous element that makes up the largest portion of the earth s atmosphere.
The atomic number of nitrogen is 7. Nitrogen is in group 15 (or Va) of the periodic table.
Nitrogen was discovered by the British physician Daniel
Rutherford in 1772 and recognized as an elemental gas by the French chemist, Antoine Laurent
Lavoiser about
1776.
Nitrogen is a colorless, odorless tasteless, nontoxic gas. It can be condensed into a colorless liquid,
which can be compressed into a colorless, crystalline solid.
Nitrogen exists in two natural forms, and four radioactive forms (artificial). Nitrogen melts at 210.01
degrees C, ( 349.02 F), boils at 195.79 C
(320.42 F), and has a density of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nitrogen compresses about 4/5ths by volume of the atmosphere.
Nitrogen is inert and serves as a diluent for oxygen in burning and respiration processes. It is an
important element in plant nutrition; certain bacteria in the soil convert atmospheric nitrogen into a
form, such as nitrate, that can be absorbed by plants, a process called nitrogen fixation. Nitrogen in the
form of protein is an important constituent of animal tissue. The element occurs in the combined state
in minerals, of which saltpeter (KNO ) and Chile saltpeter (NaNO ) are commercially important
products.
Nitrogen combines with other elements only at very high temperatures of pressures. It is converted to
an active form by passing through an electronic discharge at low pressure. The nitrogen so produced is
very active, combining with alkali metals to form azides; with the vapor of zinc, mercury cadmium,
and arsenic to form nitrides; and with many hydrocarbons to form hydrocyanic acid and cyanides, also
known as nitriles. Activated nitrogen returns to ordinary nitrogen in about one minute.
In the combined state nitrogen takes part in many reactions; it forms so many compounds that a
systematic scheme of compounds containing nitrogen in place of oxygen was created by the American
chemist Edward Franklin. In compounds nitrogen exists in all the valence states between 3 and +5.
Ammonia, hydrazine, and hydroxylamine represent compounds

Essay on Barilla Business Analysis
Barilla Business Analysis INTRODUCTION
Barilla SpA (Barilla), is an Italian manufacturer that sells pasta to retailers largely through third party
distributors. Barilla has been experiencing widely fluctuating demand patterns from these distributors.
Such unpredictable patterns are problematic because a specific sequence of pasta production is used
that minimizes the incremental changes in kiln temperature in order to keep the changeover costs low
and the product quality high. This process makes manufacturing unfortunately unresponsive to
changes in anticipated demand.
In order to address this issue, Brando Vitali s has proposed a Just in Time Distribution (JITD) model,
which is a continuous replenishment strategy under which the ... Show more content on

To the distributors it would result in decreased inventory costs and a reduction in stockouts. This
decision that Barilla faces is how such JITD would be implemented. In evaluating the solutions to the
JITD s major problems we will use four main evaluation criteria:
1.) Cost Savings to Barilla The reduction inventory and transportation costs incurred by Barilla.
2.) Cost Savings to Distributors The reduction in inventory incurred by the distributors. 3.) Service
Level As defined as the percent of retailer orders filled from distributors inventory. 4.) Internal
resistance Making adjustments to insure that internal buy in for the JITD is high.
SOLUTIONS TO JITD IMPLEMENTATION PROBLEMS
LOSS OF POWER
An obvious concern of Distributors in allowing Barilla to implement a JITD system is that it gives
Barilla the power to push product into distributor warehouses as it wishes. Such a system in the eyes
of the distributor can result in obvious abuses as it could be used by Barilla to move inventory from
the CDC to the Distributors inorder to decrease costs to Barilla at the expense of the Distributor. This
concern can easily be mitigated by structuring the contractual supplier distributor relationship in way
that gives the Distributor the power to deny any shipment. In this way the Distributor still has the
power to say no if it feels that the order is excessive. As most Distributors

Best Weight Loss Supplements Research
There are almost always more questions for those of us who want to and need to lose weight than
answers. Which supplements will give me the fastest results? The best weight loss pills are which
ones? For the millions of people who need to lose weight these are two of the most important
questions they ask. There would not be a billion plus dollar industry related to losing weight and
getting fit if there were easy answers. What would be the best answer to these questions? The
supplements which produce the best results for me. That may seem like too easy of an answer.
However, this is the answer we are all looking to find.
Medications can cause dissimilar reactions for different people because we re not all alike. The DNA
makeup of our bodies, although similar in basic structure, can be vastly different. The best weight loss
pills that work for you may not necessarily work for me because of these differences. A good example
of this would be the effects of caffeine on siblings. Take me and my brother, for instance, caffeine can

loss pills. However, we should be aware of the risks involved when using them. At least you have

This may make it safer to use supplements in the prescription category as you ll be mitigating some of

have, an art program goes to express that most groups of people are unaware of artistic rehabilitation.
By surveying the benefits that have impacted those hospitals that do offer a program for creation, it is
safe to conclude that art therapy is a successful way of recovery. Most hospitals do not offer an art
organization because it is beyond the societal norm when it comes to therapeutic outlets. Leaving a
comfort zone is incredibly challenging for most people, even more for those struggling with mental
illnesses. Society has created a stigma around mental illness as a whole, that it is not appropriate and
should not be expressed. Every year, about

Disadvantages Of Ultrathin Models
During the presentations there was to presentations that really opened my eyes to the issues we have
today in our society. These two presentations were on models in the United States versus other
countries and there other presentation was on homeschooling. The modeling one stuck out to me
because I have always struggled with being under weight. The magical number that countries had
imposed was that all models had to have a BMI of no less than 18%. Since we are surrounded by these
images all over the place countries are taking initiative to ban ultrathin models. They set unrealistic
expectations that people want to be like them. Since the BMI was so important I thought I would do
some research after class and I found out that I have a BMI of ... Show more content on

The two things that stuck out to me was that there is no financial support for individuals who chose to
homeschool their children, and there are more benefits than I thought about homeschooling. Firstly,
when you opt to homeschool you child you are not given money to help with the cost. This makes it
very difficult for families who are in poverty to homeschool a child. It costs more money for a child to
be homeschooled versus going to a public school, but it does cost less than attending a private school.
A child who is homeschooled can do online schooling, but most of the time it is a parent or other older
individual teaching a child during the day. If a family is financially challenged it is hard for a parent to
stay home to teach their children. It was said that children might not be receiving homeschooling
education from someone who is not fully capable of teaching a student. In addition, there are also
many positives that come from homeschooling. Homeschooled children do well on standardized tests,
and are known to be self directed learners. They also have the educational freedom to choose or for
their instructor to choose what they want to learn. They can learn at their own pace so they can spend
more time on things that are difficult and move quickly on things that are easy. The children doesn t
need to be held back by others if they want to move on. It is a much more

Locke And His Theory Of Motivation
Here is where I first disagree with Locke and his theory of motivation of the will according to pain
and pleasure. I think this is a difficult notion to be comfortable with. To use the formula of pleasure
minus pain equals happiness is in direct conflict with Christian teachings and the common good of all
people. Locke, being a self proclaimed Christian, is revealing himself throughout this book as actually
being non Christian, and I agree with Chappell when she stated that he was an egotist and a hedonist .
He discounts the husbands that sacrifice for their wives, the wives that sacrifice for their husbands,
parents that sacrifice for their children, siblings that sacrifice for each other, neighbors that sacrifices
for neighbors, the priests that sacrifice for the church and all people, people that sacrifice for God, and
we can go on and on and on. We are all meant to work toward the good of all and serve one another,
but not for Locke. Locke says that every intelligent Bring really seeks Happiness, which consists in
the enjoyment of pleasure, without any considerable mixtures of uneasiness . I see two was to read this
excerpt. First is to take the capital B in Bring and interpret the intelligent Being as relating to all
human being and saying this is to say all humans think that happiness is maximized pleasure and
minimized pain. And to refute this is to point back to the list of people who sacrifice pleasures and
even life for the wellbeing of others. The

A Response On Nozick s Conception Of Knowledge
Emmaline DiPace
Professor Theodore Korzukhin
PHIL 10100
October 29, 2016
A Response to Nozick s Conception of Knowledge In everyday life, people often claim knowledge of
various facts and experiences. However, despite the regularity of such claims, it is difficult to
articulate what knowledge specifically is and what conditions are necessary to constitute knowledge of
a specific fact or event. One set of conditions for knowledge, known as justified true belief, states that
a person knows something if that thing is true, if they believe it, and if they are justified in believing it
(Gettier 345). This theory, however, was shown to be problematic by the philosopher Edmund Gettier.
By proposing two examples, Gettier showed that the conditions of justified true belief are not
sufficient to establish knowledge (345 346). Although Gettier found this flaw, he did not propose any
alternate conditions of knowledge to add to or replace those of justified true belief (346). This is where
Nozick s idea of knowledge, presented in Knowledge from Philosophical Explanations, becomes
relevant. Nozick s conditions for knowledge attempt to define knowledge without being swayed by
cases such as the Gettier examples. In this paper, I will first summarize Nozick s conception of
knowledge as well as some of the reasoning for including each condition. I will then try to find an
example to show that Nozick s conditions, although more widely applicable to knowledge than
justified true

Analysis Of Warren Eisenberg And Leonard Feinstein Founded...
BBNY Company: In 1971, Warren Eisenberg and Leonard Feinstein founded Bed Bath
Beyond(BBBY). BBNY begun its journey with two stores, followed by a superstore launch in 1985.
Since then, company underwent a massive expansion strategy and was operating 575 stores towards
the end of year 2003. BBBY s growth was also fueled by adjoining business segments; it owned and
operated beauty store and specialty Christmas shopping stores. In 2003, BBNY owned 30 Harmon
stores and 24 Christmas Tree Shops stores by 2003.
BBNY followed a niche strategy to create differentiation benefit over the competition. Founder s
strategic focus on creating good customer experience resulting in high productivity and decentralized
BBNY store operations were some of the key reasons BBNY enjoyed high margins on its profit and
low cost structure. Since BBNY went public in 1992, BBNY was a Wall Street s darling stock and was
favored by investors over other retail companies. BBNY stock was trading at $37 per share at the
beginning of year 2004, an impressive 118% gain over its IPO price of $17 per share.
BBNY s Present Challenge Holding large Cash and selecting optimal capital structure
BBNY s business philosophy thus far was based on the cash is king notion and BBNY has strayed
away from leveraging debt in its business operations. BBNY was sitting on $400 million dollars

Parent Trap Essay
These differences between original movies and remakes are apparent throughout the history of
movies. During the 1960s, when the original movie The Parent Trap was published, divorce was a
touchy topic. Many children did not even know what it was, because it was so rare. Divorce had
become more common in 1998 when The Parent Trap was remade. More and more children were
seeing their parents split up. How do changes, such as these, tell us about the time periods in which
the movies were made? Both movies tell the same story, but the audiences, standards of men and
women, social norms, and settings vary. The 1961 version of The Parent Trap was undoubtedly a
popular movie, although the main topic divorce was not an ideal during the time. ... Show more

The roles of the men and women in the original movie The Parent Trap reflected the time of the
1960s. In the movie, Vicky, Mitch s fiancé, is always accompanied by her mother. Vicky was much
younger than Mitch. She had not ever been married before, unlike Mitch who had been through a
divorce. Her mother tagging along everywhere goes to show that parent involvement, even in
marriage, was important during the time of this film. Her mother wanted to make sure that Vicky did
everything she needed to do in order to marry Mitch. All Vicky wanted was Mitch s money, and her
mother was going to make sure that is what she got. As time progressed, women became more
independent. In the 1998 version of The Parent Trap, Meredith, Nick s fiancé, is always alone, never
accompanied by her mother. This reflects the women of this time: independent and able to make
decisions for themselves. In this version too, all the fiancé wants is the twins father s money. Greed is
a quality that is still seen today because money is something that everyone wants more than they need.
The identical twin girls, Susan and Sharon, are 14 years old in the original movie. In the remake, the
twin girls, Annie and Hallie, are 11 years old. Changing the age was a necessity for the second movie
because girls were much more aged in 1998 than in 1961. The director of the remake, Nancy Meyers,

Covetousness Of God In Amadeus
Moreover, Mozart s music in Amadeus is attributed to survey intricate relationship between God and
humans. Through Salieri s powerful jealousy of Mozart s music and his intense blame on God, the
movie proposes the issue of human s incomplete belief in God and the question about the existence of
God. Salieri, in the beginning part of the movie, is presented as the profoundly religious human. He
believes that God grants his faithful wish to be a successful composer so he tries to devote to his God
earnestly. However, after the appearance of Mozart in his life, Salieri starts to distrust God and commit

Larry D. Bouchard states that even if Salieri could not create the voice of god, he was the musician

from the severe jealousy of Mozart leads him to revenge for God and to break officially his tie with

the wife of Mozart visits Salieri again in a late night to request his recommendation for her husband to

people that go there for drug deals which is bad for young skaters to get into that kind of material. In
my opinion, a community skate park is a bad idea. In the first place, a skate park my lead to crime

Defects Of Nuclear Weapons
Isolde Fang Current issue Benefits and defects of nuclear weapons The use of nuclear weapons is a
heated topic today, catching more attention from both the public and governments than before. While
many countries favor nuclear weapons for safety and international reasons, nuclear weapons do have
defects in moral, environmental, and economic aspects. For counties that favor nuclear weapons, they
favor them because of the benefits brought by them in guaranteeing national safety and boosting
international status. Nuclear weapons can protect a country physically, like a physical protection of
national territory, just as Sico van der Meer writes in his article States Motivations to Acquire or Forgo
Nuclear Weapons that nuclear weapons are considered to be the ultimate tool for survival. (2016) This

survival. Due to their power, they can protect a country s territory from external aggression by
deterring other countries. Japan is a good example of this kind of country. There are many possible
reactions Japan can made after the threat from North Korea of nuclear attack of U.S. bases in Japan.
Some assert that protecting Japan itself by developing nuclear weapons is a good way (Corr, 2017).

Examples Of Child Care Observation
Step 1: Participant.
The child I chose to observe was a brown hair, Hispanic 15 month old girl. The reason I chose to
observe her is because I have seen her at the daycare before and she is always so happy, and has such
a fun personality. When I began to observe her she was just getting to the center, and her parents just
dropped her off.
Step 2: Consent. You need to insure an adult responsible for the child has given you permission to
observe the child.
I had to get consent from the director of Oakwood Methodist Daycare, as well as the parent. I briefly
described to both the director and the parent what my paper was going to be about, and asked if it
would be okay if I observed the little girl in the infant room. The director had no problem with it. The
mother also agreed to it, but she did ask to obtain a copy of the paper before submitting it just so she
could read it, and make sure everything looked good.
Step 3: Procedure.
The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood
Methodist Preschool/Daycare. I went in to the daycare at about 9:00, which is just free play/ breakfast
time in the infant room. The infant room I observed in was a little different than the CDRC, because

Benjamin Franklin, the Father of Foreign Diplomacy Essay
Some people will argue that the true birth of United States of America started with George Washington
leading the Continental Army against Great Britain s royal army in pursuit of freedom from foreign
dictatorship; seizing the opportunity to create and control their own government in the manner in
which they sought fit. One of the major forces in this battle for freedom was the diplomatic travels of
Benjamin Franklin. His travels to England and France set the foundation for the dealings in foreign
diplomacy that are still in effect today. Without Benjamin Franklin s wisdom, knowledge and courage
to address Kings and Parliament on the behalf of the colonies, the American government, as we know
it would not exist.

Upon his return to the colonies he was elected as the unofficial ambassador to England, and this
became a duty that he carried out for many years to come.
Over the next decade, hostilities grew between the colonies and England. Benjamin Franklin spent his
time as a delegate between the two lands and argued many of the colonies grievances toward Britain s
mistreatment. In 1765 at the age of 59, Franklin addressed Parliament regarding the Quartering Bill,
which allowed forceful housing of British soldiers in the homes of the Americans. He argued on
behalf of the colonies and Parliament amended the bill making the act illegal. During this same year,
Parliament passed the Stamp Act as a way of acquiring more money from the colonies. This is where
many of Benjamin Franklin s diplomatic duties began.
Franklin was called to testify in front of Parliment,
A questioner asked: Considering the resolutions of Parliament as to the right, do you think, if the
stamp act is repealed, that the North Americans will be satisfied?
Franklin responded: I think the resolutions of right will gibe them very little concern, if they are never
attempted to be carried into practice.
A adversary asked: If the stamp act should be repealed, would it induce the assemblies of America to
acknowledge the rights of Parliament to tax them, and would they erase their resolutions [of

Ruby Payne s Model Of Poverty, Middle Class
SES is a dramatic way that approaches a person s labeled level of culture in society. This is
categorized further by Ruby Payne s model of the three classes poverty, middle class, and wealthy.
The Socioeconomic Status (SES) in Education
Often times a teacher will have a mixture of students from different backgrounds. SES deals with the
education, income, and occupation of the family members, while also corresponding to privilege,
power, and control standings in society (American Psychological Association, n.d.). Sometimes, but
not always knowledge of these things by teachers helps them to understand why a student lacks the
necessary learning skills in order to succeed.

If a teacher believes this idea, then when the student fails, the teacher will feel he or she has no reason
to fear repercussions by a parent or staff member. But, the critical idea is that not all children in this
SES poverty category have the same attributes. Payne s writing does give more information to
teachers about students, but it stereotypes them as a group rather than an individual.
Another criticism is that children in poverty lack skills and experiences of the other two SES classes.
In a way this is true because people of these two other SES classes get more toys, travel more, see
more movies, and many other forms of entertainment. But, what is not stressed is children in poverty
often appreciate more what they possess then the other two classes. That is because they are not
afforded the opportunities to always get what they want. For example, one might take better care of
their one pair of shoes if that is all they

Comparing Women In The Odyssey And Lysistrata
Since the beginning of time, women have always been looked down upon mentally. During the time
period of The Odyssey and Lysistrata, women were known as less powerful gender. They have never
had much say about what goes on around them. Some women were recognized as a sex symbol. In
The Odyssey, some women were goddesses that just wanted sex and other women had to stay at home
to help raise their kids and do all of the feminine work. Compared to The Odyssey, in Lysistrata,
women denied sex against their men to get what they want. In addition, they did not have many
political rights and a say so on what goes on in their country. In comparing both of these stories,
women show similarities toward each other. In The Odyssey it shows that all the women are uniquely
different by their relationships, desire, and personality towards men. In addition, all the women help
represent the typical role of a woman. Their role is very critical in the ongoing adventure in this epic
poem. Homer represents women as strong roles and real life characters such as them being strong,
tough, and diligent. In the story there are three major types of women, which are the goddess, the good
hostess/wife, and seducers. With each one of these female characters they are a vital importance and
add a different type of factor to the story. As Odysseus returns home to his wife Penelope and his son

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Planet
The effects of climate change have become more apparent than ever within the last 100 years.
Increasing climates have been proven; with the warmest temperatures in 30 years being recorded

for natural resources to sustain economic growth has resulted in exploitation of ecological systems at a
rate never recorded before. These huge changes to the planet will have a knock on effect to individual
and global ecosystems resulting in varying levels of positive feedback. Throughout this essay I will be

The Carbon Cycle consists of the vital components for all animal and plant lives. It is primarily a
reflection on primary and secondary production (Krebs, 2009). As seen in Figure 2, carbon levels have
not been constant throughout history. Figure 3 represents the basic components of the Carbon cycle.
The diagram shows that the oceans are the largest sink of carbon, and is at a constant equilibrium of
atmospheric CO2 and aqueous CO2. The increase in atmospheric CO2 levels causes ocean
acidification by decreasing the pH of the oceans. PH values are said to have dropped by 0.1pH units
since pre industrial levels and are expected to drop a further 0.3 units by the end of the 20th century
(Scott C Doney, 2007). This chemical change will have knock on affects in many marine ecosystems,
which will be discussed later.
However, there are positive results of the rapid increase of CO2 in relation to plants a; CO2

Nonviolent Actions That Could Leapfrog Current Issues...
Shaking off a Hell of Dependancy and Creating the Leaping Frog
This essay assesses nonviolent actions that could leapfrog current issues perpetuating the Israel
Palestine conflict to bring about beneficial inter dependence. To scope potential outcomes I will
configure the fundamental interests of both parties, some barriers to reconciliation, then employing
principles of Constructivist theory [1], explore harnessing and coordinating the potential of creativity
and technology, as well as the influence and goodwill of social media. I conclude that this
environment can lead to achievable options providing Israel security and defuse its dominance over
Palestine with two independent states [2].
Contemporary outsiders consider Israel and Palestine s bleak circumstance with fatigue, apathy and
lack commitment to support further resolutions [3]. This paralysis taps into my reactions as a young
adult researching the holocaust which were not diplomatically measured. I was full of horror, disbelief
and determined never to stand by silent; silent, facilitating such a thing to occur again. Well, it has not
been that simple and enormous transgressions have happened again and again!
A daily existence in Hell, pitifully dependant, Palestine clings to futility; while Israel terrified about
security, digs its boots in pursuing expansion. Reframed through a Constructivist lens this could
become: Capturing ideas; resilient; resourceful and intertwined, Palestinians maximise restorative

Building Roman Civilization Analysis
Intelligence and physical strength are equally contributed to the buliding of the city. They are equally
contibuted to the building of the city because of the way it was built, they had to figure out what to do
when it would not cut through the wood, also it took a lot of strength to lift it up. It took intelligence to
figure out how it was built. It states from the passage Building a Roman City By: David Macaulay,
The skilled laborers cut, polished, or carved inscriptions in the stone. It also states, The clay was made
into bricks and tiles in factories near Arretium. The clay, dug out of large pits in the ground, was
formed into standard shapes and sizes using wooden molds. The mold was then removed and the wet
clay was placed in an oven to dry and harden. All ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It states from the passage, The unskilled workeers seperated and lifted the huge blocks from the earth.
It also states, The stone was usually cut with a saw. When the stone was very hard, the blade used in
the saw had no teeth; sand and steel filings were placed under the blade and the back and forth motion
of the saw ground away the stone. It also talks about where the wood that they used for the city came
from, it states, The wood used for scaffolding and roof framework came from a forest at the foot of the
Apennine Mountains to the south. This proves that another hard part of the job was lifting the blocks
up. In conclusion, building the city of Rome was super hard for everyone. There was a job for
everyone to take part in, and it all required hard work, intelligence and phyical strength. If one person
did not do their part then it would be hard for them to finish because building the City of Rome was a
difficult task you would have to have a lot of people who were smart enough to do some parts of the
job and you would have to have a lot of people who were physically strong and could lift stuff and get

The American Democratic Republic
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Although the United States is
moving toward a more democratic political system, the framers of the constitution aimed at creating a
republic government. The word democracy is never even mentioned in the United States Constitution.
Our modern government is a blend of both democratic and republican ideals called the American
Democratic Republic. When the founding fathers of the United States met together to create a new
government system, they had imagined a system that limited government power and protected the
rights of the individuals. The framers wanted popular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous doctrines that also helped aide the framers in giving certain rights to the citizens of the
United States. The idea of trial by a jury of your peers was taken from the Magna Carta of 1215.
(pg.6) The English Bill of Rights of 1689 prohibited cruel and unusual punishment. (pg. 6) Because
republican and democratic systems are similar in outward appearances, it is easy to understand why a
lot of people are confused in thinking the American government is a democracy. The United States is
not a true democracy but a blend of a republic and democratic system. Both systems are based on
government by popular consent, and have many similar attributes but with specific details of ideology
that set them apart from each other. Both systems also believe in safeguarding the rights of individuals
but democracy has an emphasis on property rights. A republic is ruled by the people through layers of
representatives that are elected to act on the behalf of the common good. While democracy is ruled by
the people also, it can either be directly or indirectly. (pg. 17)
Direct democracy is a system of government in which all the citizens of a community meet together
on a regular basis to solve problems or make decisions for the community as a whole. This type of
government was evident in ancient Athens. It, however, is only possible in small communities where

Essay about The Sokal Hoax
The Sokal Hoax In Fall of 1994, New York University theoretical physicist, Alan Sokal, submitted an
essay to Social Text, the leading journal in the field of cultural studies. This essay, entitled
Transgressing the Boundaries: Toward a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity, pretended
to be a scholarly article about the postmodern philosophical and political implications of the twentieth
century physical theories. However, as Sokal later revealed in the journal Lingua Franca, his essay
was merely a mixture of deliberately concocted blunder, stitched together so as to look good and to
flatter the conceptual views of the editors. After review by five members of Social Text s editorial
board, Sokal s cartoon was accepted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sokal then goes on about his views on quantum gravity and physical theory. He tries to generate
political and cultural views from these views. His reasoning is supported by nothing more than a hazy
patchwork of puns. When he does this, how is it that credential scientists can claim to have a complete
understanding on scientific knowledge in their field? They accepted an article that was a total hoax
and didn t realize it! This article was an impenetrable swamp of jargon and citations. At the same time
this article was printed, Sokal published an article in Lingua Franca revealing that the article was a
total hoax, and more or less was to show the intellectual absence in the field of those that had
published it. There were many different reactions to the publishing of Sokal s essay. Some applauded
him for putting many of the too smart for their own good/think their so smart scientists in their place.
It was an ingenious act. Then there were those who frowned upon his actions in that he had no right to
have such an article published. The following are some arguments that are opposing Sokal s misuse of
knowledge. A one sentence summary: its bad enough, being in a physics department, seeing physicist
compete to try to prove they re smarter than each other all the time; the last thing I need is to see them
acting out this compulsion to prove that they are intellectual kings of the entire academy (Weiner).

Preparation of 3 (2 Nitrophenyl)acrylate Utilizing the Wittig Reaction
Introduction:
The Wittig reaction, named after Georg Wittig, produces an alkene from an aldehyde or ketone
reacting with a phosphonium ylide (a Wittig reagent). The Wittig reaction is typically stereoselective,
which makes the Wittig reagents more difficult to work with but use of the Wittig with different allyl
substituents prove to make the Wittig more versatile which can lead to the synthesis of a wide range of
alkenes, styrenes, stilbenes, and 1,3 dienes which can then be used to synthesize more complex
bioactive compounds such as leukotrienes which are used to treat asthma1. The Wittig reaction is also
favored over other reagents because it can be used under

not only because trans alkenes are more stable but also because the phenyl substituents for the
phosphoylide were anion stabilizing. This stabilization for the anion gives the antioxaphosphetane
intermediate, which then produces the trans alkene.
There was a low yield for the product, as much of the reactant remained in the analysis sample,
despite what seemed to be a decent yield by mass. This could be because of poor mixing after the
reaction was heated since much of the reactant had solidified. Another source of error could be in
separating products since the fractions from column

Analyzing Epicurus s Letter To Menoeceus
In the Letter to to Menoeceus, Epicurus explains his principle doctrines and prescripts on how one can
live the best life possible. His letter argues two distinct beliefs to reconsider. The first argument
suggests that we do not need to fear the gods as the fear of punishment from the gods will deteriorate
one s overall happiness. The second argument suggests that the fear of death is an irrational fear as
one will no longer feel sensations after death. In this paper, I will defend these two arguments made by
Epicurus and show that the removal of these beliefs will allow an individual to live a more fulfilling
life with happiness and less fear and anxiety.
Epicurus first argues that while he does believe that the gods do indeed exist, he ... Show more content

He recommends that we should rid this irrational fear in order to maximize our pleasure and minimize
our pain. In his letter, he writes all things good and bad are experienced through sensation, but
sensation ceases at death. (Epicurus, Letter to Menoeceus,1) What Epicurus means is that these
sensations are only experienced by those that are alive and will cease once our bodies are dispersed
back into tiny particles of atoms. What solidifies this argument is Epicurus s belief of how we
experience the sensory world. Epicurus believes that the soul is our bodies access to sense perceptions
and experiences. In order to communicate with the material body, the soul must also be material and
consist of atoms similar to the body. Thus, when our bodies decay and break down, the soul will also
disperse back into the environment. With this understanding, it is logical to think that there is no point
of fearing death as the dispersal of the soul after death will cease any form of sensation. Once the
removal of sensations and experiences, nothing can create any pain or pleasure nor make the situation
better or worse. This suggests that death cannot harm and cause pain to an individual when it finally
arrives. Epicurus continues his argument with the line when we exist, death is not present, and when
death is present, we do not exist. (Epicurus,

Responsibility In Virgil s Ceres And Dido
Ceres and Dido each possess great power and authority, but their depictions by Ovid and Virgil
establish an inaccurate sense of weakness. As women, they are characterized as adversaries to the
male idea of power and strength. Though they are queens and goddesses, they are unequal to their
male counterparts simply due to their sex. Each of these women fall victim to the oppressiveness of
their respective patriarchal societies. Even though Ceres and Dido, in adherence to gender roles, are
devoted mothers and lovers, respectively. Their love is only met with pain and agony. Dido allows her
burning desire for Aeneas to distract her from her duties, and Ceres is brought to a crippled state
because Dis has stolen her daughter. In both Virgil s The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Dis abducts her daughter, she appeals to Jove, but faces great injustice and inequality. Jove does
not attempt to empathize with the grieving mother, but instead chooses to lecture her. Though she is a
most powerful goddess, she must humble herself in his presence. Aware of the dynamic, she appeals to
his masculine dominance and says, ...if you have no regard for her mother, relent as her father don t
hold her unworthy, I beg you, simply because I am the child s other parent! (V. 687 689). This self
degradation is a notable contrast from the fierceness Ceres demonstrates only moments before. As an
autonomous goddess, she reeks havoc in her rage, but in the presence of a male counterpart, she must
subdue her rage. She hides her true emotions and submits to the male dominated world she lives in.
Instead of respecting Ceres for her humility, Jupiter almost mocks her concerns and exclaims ...how
much it is to be Jove s brother! (V.702). Desperate for his aid, Ceres has no response and must tolerate
his insincerity. Although Ceres is a powerful goddess, it is almost irrelevant because her might and
fortitude are minimized by Jove s haughtiness. But, her capacity to temper her emotions indicate a
power all of its own. This control is in fact, far more impressive than Jove s excessive

  • 2. Religious Expression In Public Schools For many years, schools have struggled to decide on whether to give students the freedom of religious expression at school. This difficult topic is especially prevalent in many public schools today. Most public schools comply with the separation of church and state by instating rules against any kind of religious expression, essentially mandating conformity among students in terms of religious expression. Some schools, however, have decided to place no restrictions on religious expression. This serves to promote individual freedom among students. Even if it may seem that schools strongly differ when it comes to religious expression, schools do have something in common pertaining to this issue. They all believe that the unique decision they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all, it is the school s job to educate our future generation so they are equipped for a world containing a multitude of religious aspects even if doing so in an indirect manner. Providing students the freedom to practice whichever religion they choose restricts feelings of pressure to withhold their religious expression; something they would have to withhold in the name of conformity at some public schools. As students become inevitably educated about religion through religious expression around them, they steadily become less intolerant of other religions besides their own. The students become accepting of the reality that we live in where many different religious beliefs exist among people in all areas of life. This effect closely mirrors the attitude that these students will have towards religion in the real world. Not only does exposure to religious expression benefit the students and the school, but it furthermore benefits the world as a whole by moving the future generation away from religious intolerance. This creates a world where people can be comfortable and sure in their religion due to the lack of intolerance directed towards them. Currently, however, religiously motivated hate crimes are on the rise. In 2004, about 10 percent of all hate crimes were religiously motivated− compared to 28 percent today (Jackson 1). This is an example of religious intolerance in today s world which can be remedied by educating the future generation about religion through allowing religious expression at school. The religious tolerance that is subsequently developed among these students is what this world so desperately ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Report On The Underwater World I throw on all of my gear on my back and shuffle to the end of the boat to jump off into the deep ocean below. I hold my mask and regulator tight onto my face as I take the plunge. The underwater world takes on a new persona as its inhabitants are magnified through my goggles. Bubbles float up past my head as I slowly and deeply breathe through my regulator while keeping my body neutrally buoyant to prevent myself from touching the marine life below. My fins cut through the water as they attempt to propel me against the strong ocean current over large kelp forests. Fish of all shapes and sizes swim up to investigate who I am and what I am doing in their underwater world. I was lucky enough during spring break to take part in an Open Water scuba diving course and receive my diving certification that allows me to dive anywhere in the world up to eighteen meters deep. Over the weekend, I headed down first to Rye Pier and then Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park in Victoria to give diving in the ocean a try after taking my first few breaths underwater in a local pool. We began with shore dives and proceeded to diving off a boat once we felt comfortable in the ocean. Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park was established in November of 2002 as marine conservation awareness became more prevalent in Victoria as well as throughout Australia. It is home to six marine areas (Swan Bay, Mud Islands, Point Lonsdale, and Point Nepean) along with the two dive sites that we explored: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The camps were tremendously ruthless. The epidemics that broke out in the camps, including the awful living conditions were very diverse mainly during the years that the camps operated. They were also uniquely contrasting in each different camp. Whereas many other conditions such as, executions, hard labor, etc. had a great effect of death of the children, some conditions were worse than others causing the children to pass away real quick. Medical experiments and living conditions had the greatest effect of death of children in the Nazi work camps during WWII. Not only were the children involuntarily used for medical experiments they were also forced to live in brutal living conditions. Children died very easily because of how they were being treated. They became very weak. They were not fed the right amount of calories and were not treated properly. Feeding the prisoners in the concentration camps was a big issue during the holocaust. • 7. The Continuity Of Life Chapter 1 Summary Chapter 9 The Continuity of Life: Cellular Reproduction Summary (184) Reproduction is important for the survival of all living things. Without a mechanism for reproduction, life would come to an end. There are two types of reproduction to learn in elementary grades, asexual and sexual reproduction. Many teachers are afraid of discussing reproduction, but if presented as a factual lesson it is easy for the students to understand the principles without the standard giggles. Asexual reproduction refers to simple cell division that produces an exact duplicate of an organism. There are many different types of asexual reproduction which can be discussed to show students the variability of modes of reproduction. Some single celled organisms reproduce by simple cell division, this is called binary fission. In this manner, the mother cell simply splits in half producing two daughter cells. Some cells reproduce by unequal division of the cells, this is called budding. In this process the bud forms as a knob on the mother cell. The nucleus divides and identical parts go to the mother cell and the bud. The bud may grow until it is as large as the mother cell and can form buds of its own. In some cases buds ... According to Caivin kessier and (Gray Frisch, 1998) (1995) in recent years a new generation of well logging tool string developed which is better than the older type of the tool. This new sensors reports to the full cross sectional area of the production toolbars (casing, tubing or slotted liner) occupied by gas and liquid. From this response, the holdup fractions for liquid and gas can be determined. The fullbore measurement eliminates previous uncertainties in holdup fraction that can occur when flowing conditions are none uniform or when water cut is high. Single pass interpretation is the most straightforward but slightest dependable strategy for spinner interpretation which utilizes a single logging run and depends on a direct spinner reaction to aggregate stream rate. With this technique, the highest spinner reaction (most importantly holes) is as marked 100% in stream and the least spinner reaction is thought to be in static liquid and in this way is allocated 0% in stream. Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue Section One: The Prologue 208 09 Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue is generally considered one of her most vivid statements regarding her role in a Puritan society. This is a poem where she reveals who she is to her readers. Bradstreet is critical of those individuals who place restrictions on women s roles in society, especially in consideration of a female writer in a male dominated environment. In the first few stanzas Bradstreet talks about how her ability as a poet is not up to the task, unlike the work of men. In the first lines of her poem she describes how a pilgrim reaches his goal. She references the pilgrim as a symbol of determination and perseverance to be followed, especially when hoping to attain a dream. Being a pilgrim herself, and living in a Puritan society, her audience was able to relate to her plight and feelings about the journeys that are taken throughout one s life. In this poem, Bradstreet uses her skills to compare the voyage to America from England to the journey a religious person is to take to Heaven from Earth. Now that the journey of the pilgrim has ended, he no longer has to endure the hardships of the trip to his destination, his dangers past, and travails done. However, in order to reach his destination the pilgrim has made sacrifices, like leaving things behind. Otherwise he wouldn t have been able to accomplish his feat, and therefore, to All cares and fears he bids farewell . Later one Bradstreet contemplates how the pilgrim has been successful in his achievement, and how she herself wanted to be part of such journey. Bradstreet sees herself in the image of the pilgrim, renouncing to the world in her way to Heaven. She feels tempted, but obeys the will of God. Bradstreet reminds others that while it is not easy to live a sinless life, the reward at the end is worth all the effort. She understands the difficulties of her plan, and longs to be at rest and soar on high among the blest. Although the journey is lengthy and arduous, Bradstreet realizes that there are still many years before she achieves her goal, years in which she will have to continue following the Commandments and struggling against the society she has been born in. Francois Rabelais And Thomas More Dystopia The word utopia descended from a Greek word meaning no place and today is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as an imagined or hypothetical place, system, or state of existence in which everything is perfect, especially in respect of social structure, laws and politics (). Both Francois Rabelais and Thomas More describes the Utopic world to depict the ideal human society, however, both texts describe a society in which dystopian features are extremely emphasized. And furthermore, if these people want to learn another trade, he or she requires a permission. Commonsense permission clearly means that these people have no free will. Moreover, despite the abundance of everything everyone is wearing the same thing. And if a person want to visit a friend or wants to travel just to discover a new place, he or she requires a permission. Thus, although the opportunities to have everything and travel around, no one use can benefit from those opportunities. This simply shows that people are without free will and obliged to a highly ordered system. In Abbey of Theleme, on the other hand, it seems initially that people have their free will and can govern their lives as they wish to. Rabelais says ...their lives were not ordered and governed by laws and statutes and rules, but according to their own free will... (). Phenothiazines work by blocking dopamine receptors in the brain, preventing excess stimulation and thus reduced symptoms. All antipsychotic medications do help reduce positive symptoms, but none reduce negative symptoms. However, they also result in many negative motor side effects. Nitrogen exists in two natural forms, and four radioactive forms (artificial). Nitrogen melts at 210.01 degrees C, ( 349.02 F), boils at 195.79 C (320.42 F), and has a density of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nitrogen compresses about 4/5ths by volume of the atmosphere. Nitrogen is inert and serves as a diluent for oxygen in burning and respiration processes. It is an important element in plant nutrition; certain bacteria in the soil convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form, such as nitrate, that can be absorbed by plants, a process called nitrogen fixation. Nitrogen in the form of protein is an important constituent of animal tissue. The element occurs in the combined state in minerals, of which saltpeter (KNO ) and Chile saltpeter (NaNO ) are commercially important products. Nitrogen combines with other elements only at very high temperatures of pressures. It is converted to an active form by passing through an electronic discharge at low pressure. The nitrogen so produced is very active, combining with alkali metals to form azides; with the vapor of zinc, mercury cadmium, and arsenic to form nitrides; and with many hydrocarbons to form hydrocyanic acid and cyanides, also known as nitriles. Activated nitrogen returns to ordinary nitrogen in about one minute. In the combined state nitrogen takes part in many reactions; it forms so many compounds that a systematic scheme of compounds containing nitrogen in place of oxygen was created by the American chemist Edward Franklin. In compounds nitrogen exists in all the valence states between 3 and +5. Ammonia, hydrazine, and hydroxylamine represent compounds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Essay on Barilla Business Analysis Barilla Business Analysis INTRODUCTION Barilla SpA (Barilla), is an Italian manufacturer that sells pasta to retailers largely through third party distributors. Barilla has been experiencing widely fluctuating demand patterns from these distributors. Such unpredictable patterns are problematic because a specific sequence of pasta production is used that minimizes the incremental changes in kiln temperature in order to keep the changeover costs low and the product quality high. This process makes manufacturing unfortunately unresponsive to changes in anticipated demand. In order to address this issue, Brando Vitali s has proposed a Just in Time Distribution (JITD) model, which is a continuous replenishment strategy under which the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To the distributors it would result in decreased inventory costs and a reduction in stockouts. This decision that Barilla faces is how such JITD would be implemented. In evaluating the solutions to the JITD s major problems we will use four main evaluation criteria: 1.) Cost Savings to Barilla The reduction inventory and transportation costs incurred by Barilla. 2.) Cost Savings to Distributors The reduction in inventory incurred by the distributors. 3.) Service Level As defined as the percent of retailer orders filled from distributors inventory. 4.) Internal resistance Making adjustments to insure that internal buy in for the JITD is high. SOLUTIONS TO JITD IMPLEMENTATION PROBLEMS LOSS OF POWER An obvious concern of Distributors in allowing Barilla to implement a JITD system is that it gives Barilla the power to push product into distributor warehouses as it wishes. Such a system in the eyes of the distributor can result in obvious abuses as it could be used by Barilla to move inventory from the CDC to the Distributors inorder to decrease costs to Barilla at the expense of the Distributor. This concern can easily be mitigated by structuring the contractual supplier distributor relationship in way that gives the Distributor the power to deny any shipment. In this way the Distributor still has the power to say no if it feels that the order is excessive. As most Distributors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using art as an option for recovery, or a coping skill, is not as mainstream of a recovery method as necessary. Those who believe this have a harder time reaching out, and stepping out of their comfort zone to experiment with a new coping mechanism. Only half of all hospitals in the United States have some type of art or creation program. (The Wall Street Journal). The smaller amount of hospitals who are open to, and have, an art program goes to express that most groups of people are unaware of artistic rehabilitation. By surveying the benefits that have impacted those hospitals that do offer a program for creation, it is safe to conclude that art therapy is a successful way of recovery. The two things that stuck out to me was that there is no financial support for individuals who chose to homeschool their children, and there are more benefits than I thought about homeschooling. Firstly, when you opt to homeschool you child you are not given money to help with the cost. This makes it very difficult for families who are in poverty to homeschool a child. It costs more money for a child to be homeschooled versus going to a public school, but it does cost less than attending a private school. A child who is homeschooled can do online schooling, but most of the time it is a parent or other older individual teaching a child during the day. If a family is financially challenged it is hard for a parent to stay home to teach their children. It was said that children might not be receiving homeschooling education from someone who is not fully capable of teaching a student. I think this is a difficult notion to be comfortable with. To use the formula of pleasure minus pain equals happiness is in direct conflict with Christian teachings and the common good of all people. Locke, being a self proclaimed Christian, is revealing himself throughout this book as actually being non Christian, and I agree with Chappell when she stated that he was an egotist and a hedonist . He discounts the husbands that sacrifice for their wives, the wives that sacrifice for their husbands, parents that sacrifice for their children, siblings that sacrifice for each other, neighbors that sacrifices for neighbors, the priests that sacrifice for the church and all people, people that sacrifice for God, and we can go on and on and on. • 22. A Response On Nozick s Conception Of Knowledge Emmaline DiPace Professor Theodore Korzukhin PHIL 10100 October 29, 2016 A Response to Nozick s Conception of Knowledge In everyday life, people often claim knowledge of various facts and experiences. However, despite the regularity of such claims, it is difficult to articulate what knowledge specifically is and what conditions are necessary to constitute knowledge of a specific fact or event. One set of conditions for knowledge, known as justified true belief, states that a person knows something if that thing is true, if they believe it, and if they are justified in believing it (Gettier 345). This theory, however, was shown to be problematic by the philosopher Edmund Gettier. By proposing two examples, Gettier showed that the conditions of justified true belief are not sufficient to establish knowledge (345 346). Although Gettier found this flaw, he did not propose any alternate conditions of knowledge to add to or replace those of justified true belief (346). This is where Nozick s idea of knowledge, presented in Knowledge from Philosophical Explanations, becomes relevant. Nozick s conditions for knowledge attempt to define knowledge without being swayed by cases such as the Gettier examples. In this paper, I will first summarize Nozick s conception of knowledge as well as some of the reasoning for including each condition. I will then try to find an example to show that Nozick s conditions, although more widely applicable to knowledge than justified true ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Divorce had become more common in 1998 when The Parent Trap was remade. More and more children were seeing their parents split up. How do changes, such as these, tell us about the time periods in which the movies were made? Her mother tagging along everywhere goes to show that parent involvement, even in marriage, was important during the time of this film. Her mother wanted to make sure that Vicky did everything she needed to do in order to marry Mitch. All Vicky wanted was Mitch s money, and her mother was going to make sure that is what she got. In The Odyssey it shows that all the women are uniquely different by their relationships, desire, and personality towards men. In addition, all the women help represent the typical role of a woman. Their role is very critical in the ongoing adventure in this epic poem. Homer represents women as strong roles and real life characters such as them being strong, tough, and diligent. In the story there are three major types of women, which are the goddess, the good hostess/wife, and seducers. With each one of these female characters they are a vital importance and add a different type of factor to the story. As Odysseus returns home to his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus from fighting in the Trojan War he is faced with many obstacles that he must get through to get home to ... • 36. The Effects Of Climate Change On The Planet The effects of climate change have become more apparent than ever within the last 100 years. Increasing climates have been proven; with the warmest temperatures in 30 years being recorded (Houghton, 1994). Suggested cause of this increase is population change, the ever increasing demand for natural resources to sustain economic growth has resulted in exploitation of ecological systems at a rate never recorded before. These huge changes to the planet will have a knock on effect to individual and global ecosystems resulting in varying levels of positive feedback. Throughout this essay I will be discussing on various ways climate change effects the ecology of the planet. The planet shows fluctuations of temperature from millions of years ago. ... The Carbon Cycle consists of the vital components for all animal and plant lives. It is primarily a reflection on primary and secondary production (Krebs, 2009). As seen in Figure 2, carbon levels have not been constant throughout history. Figure 3 represents the basic components of the Carbon cycle. The diagram shows that the oceans are the largest sink of carbon, and is at a constant equilibrium of atmospheric CO2 and aqueous CO2. The increase in atmospheric CO2 levels causes ocean acidification by decreasing the pH of the oceans. PH values are said to have dropped by 0.1pH units since pre industrial levels and are expected to drop a further 0.3 units by the end of the 20th century (Scott C Doney, 2007). This chemical change will have knock on affects in many marine ecosystems, which will be discussed later. However, there are positive results of the rapid increase of CO2 in relation to plants a; CO2 enrichment will no longer be a limiting factor of photosynthesis. Shaking off a Hell of Dependancy and Creating the Leaping Frog This essay assesses nonviolent actions that could leapfrog current issues perpetuating the Israel Palestine conflict to bring about beneficial inter dependence. To scope potential outcomes I will configure the fundamental interests of both parties, some barriers to reconciliation, then employing principles of Constructivist theory [1], explore harnessing and coordinating the potential of creativity and technology, as well as the influence and goodwill of social media. I conclude that this environment can lead to achievable options providing Israel security and defuse its dominance over Palestine with two independent states [2]. Contemporary outsiders consider Israel and Palestine s bleak circumstance with fatigue, apathy and lack commitment to support further resolutions [3]. This paralysis taps into my reactions as a young adult researching the holocaust which were not diplomatically measured. I was full of horror, disbelief and determined never to stand by silent; silent, facilitating such a thing to occur again. Well, it has not been that simple and enormous transgressions have happened again and again! They are equally contibuted to the building of the city because of the way it was built, they had to figure out what to do when it would not cut through the wood, also it took a lot of strength to lift it up. It took intelligence to figure out how it was built. It states from the passage Building a Roman City By: David Macaulay, The skilled laborers cut, polished, or carved inscriptions in the stone. It also states, The clay was made into bricks and tiles in factories near Arretium. The clay, dug out of large pits in the ground, was formed into standard shapes and sizes using wooden molds. It also talks about where the wood that they used for the city came from, it states, The wood used for scaffolding and roof framework came from a forest at the foot of the Apennine Mountains to the south. The word democracy is never even mentioned in the United States Constitution. Our modern government is a blend of both democratic and republican ideals called the American Democratic Republic. (pg. 6) Because republican and democratic systems are similar in outward appearances, it is easy to understand why a lot of people are confused in thinking the American government is a democracy. The United States is not a true democracy but a blend of a republic and democratic system. Both systems are based on government by popular consent, and have many similar attributes but with specific details of ideology that set them apart from each other. Both systems also believe in safeguarding the rights of individuals but democracy has an emphasis on property rights. A republic is ruled by the people through layers of representatives that are elected to act on the behalf of the common good. While democracy is ruled by the people also, it can either be directly or indirectly. Essay about The Sokal Hoax The Sokal Hoax In Fall of 1994, New York University theoretical physicist, Alan Sokal, submitted an essay to Social Text, the leading journal in the field of cultural studies. This essay, entitled Transgressing the Boundaries: Toward a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity, pretended to be a scholarly article about the postmodern philosophical and political implications of the twentieth century physical theories. However, as Sokal later revealed in the journal Lingua Franca, his essay was merely a mixture of deliberately concocted blunder, stitched together so as to look good and to flatter the conceptual views of the editors. Sokal then goes on about his views on quantum gravity and physical theory. He tries to generate political and cultural views from these views. His reasoning is supported by nothing more than a hazy patchwork of puns. When he does this, how is it that credential scientists can claim to have a complete understanding on scientific knowledge in their field? They accepted an article that was a total hoax and didn t realize it! This article was an impenetrable swamp of jargon and citations. At the same time this article was printed, Sokal published an article in Lingua Franca revealing that the article was a total hoax, and more or less was to show the intellectual absence in the field of those that had published it. There were many different reactions to the publishing of Sokal s essay. Some applauded him for putting many of the too smart for their own good/think their so smart scientists in their place. It was an ingenious act. Then there were those who frowned upon his actions in that he had no right to have such an article published. The following are some arguments that are opposing Sokal s misuse of knowledge. The Wittig reaction is typically stereoselective, which makes the Wittig reagents more difficult to work with but use of the Wittig with different allyl substituents prove to make the Wittig more versatile which can lead to the synthesis of a wide range of alkenes, styrenes, stilbenes, and 1,3 dienes which can then be used to synthesize more complex bioactive compounds such as leukotrienes which are used to treat asthma1. There was a low yield for the product, as much of the reactant remained in the analysis sample, despite what seemed to be a decent yield by mass. • 46. Analyzing Epicurus s Letter To Menoeceus In the Letter to to Menoeceus, Epicurus explains his principle doctrines and prescripts on how one can live the best life possible. His letter argues two distinct beliefs to reconsider. The first argument suggests that we do not need to fear the gods as the fear of punishment from the gods will deteriorate one s overall happiness. The second argument suggests that the fear of death is an irrational fear as one will no longer feel sensations after death. In this paper, I will defend these two arguments made by Epicurus and show that the removal of these beliefs will allow an individual to live a more fulfilling life with happiness and less fear and anxiety. Epicurus first argues that while he does believe that the gods do indeed exist, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He recommends that we should rid this irrational fear in order to maximize our pleasure and minimize our pain. In his letter, he writes all things good and bad are experienced through sensation, but sensation ceases at death. (Epicurus, Letter to Menoeceus,1) What Epicurus means is that these sensations are only experienced by those that are alive and will cease once our bodies are dispersed back into tiny particles of atoms. What solidifies this argument is Epicurus s belief of how we experience the sensory world. Epicurus believes that the soul is our bodies access to sense perceptions and experiences. In order to communicate with the material body, the soul must also be material and consist of atoms similar to the body. Thus, when our bodies decay and break down, the soul will also disperse back into the environment. With this understanding, it is logical to think that there is no point of fearing death as the dispersal of the soul after death will cease any form of sensation. Once the removal of sensations and experiences, nothing can create any pain or pleasure nor make the situation better or worse. This suggests that death cannot harm and cause pain to an individual when it finally arrives. Epicurus continues his argument with the line when we exist, death is not present, and when death is present, we do not exist. (Epicurus, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each of these women fall victim to the oppressiveness of their respective patriarchal societies. Even though Ceres and Dido, in adherence to gender roles, are devoted mothers and lovers, respectively. Their love is only met with pain and agony. (V. 687 689). This self degradation is a notable contrast from the fierceness Ceres demonstrates only moments before. As an autonomous goddess, she reeks havoc in her rage, but in the presence of a male counterpart, she must subdue her rage. She hides her true emotions and submits to the male dominated world she lives in. Instead of respecting Ceres for her humility, Jupiter almost mocks her concerns and exclaims ...how much it is to be Jove s brother! (V.702). Desperate for his aid, Ceres has no response and must tolerate his insincerity.
