Marc Benioff Research Paper
Marc Russell Benioff (born September, 25, 1964) is a notable entrepreneur, author and philanthropist.
He is best noted as the founder, chairman and CEO of Salesforce, an internet based company that
sought to solve ....inefficiencies in the software industry (Benioff Adler, 2010, p. xii). Many have
regarded Benioff as the leader of The End of Software because his business delivers immediate
benefits at reduced risks and costs. Marc was raised in a Jewish San Francisco family. He graduated
from Burlingame High School in 1982, and sold his first application, How to Juggle, for $75 (Benioff
Adler, 2010). By age 16, Benioff was earning royalties of $1,500 a month after he founded Liberty
Software, created and sold games for the Atari 8 bit computer and published a series of books. The
royalties earned were enough to pay for college as he received a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration from the University of Southern California in 1986 (Benioff Adler, 2010, p. xix). ...

Los Angeles Riots Of 1992 Essay
It was the evening of August 9th 2014, when a small town erupted in a state of chaos. St. Louis
County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of all
ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are burnt
down and the windows of parked vehicles are shattered. Hateful slurs are graffitied around town, with
sayings like, fuck the police, and the only good cop is a dead cop. Rocks are thrown and police
officers use tear gas to control the growing crowd. Concerned locals lock themselves in their homes
hoping for the craziness to die down. In what seems to be a twisted dream, society as we know it, has
turned into a battle field.
A riot can be defined as the violent disturbance of society s peace, it is also known as the violent
version of a protest. Riots are often referred to as urban riots, due to most riots being in cities filled
with poverty. In the midst of an urban riot, you will likely see public buildings being destroyed and/or
physical altercations between two social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 was a public outcry after 26 year old African American, Rodney King,
was severely beaten by white police officers. Four policemen were caught on surveillance, beating
Rodney King after a high speed police pursuit. The police officers were eventually acquitted of their
crimes, initiating a violent protest. Outraged civilians destroyed public property and physically
assaulted innocent bystanders. The actions that took place in Los Angeles shocked the world.
Referring back to the definition of a riot, African Americans across the country felt betrayed by the
justice system. It was assumed that the troopers would be charged for assault, especially since it was
caught on film. When justice was not served, violence erupted in an attempt to gain a reaction from

Tax Law Changes of 2012
The bill officially titled Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010 (HR
4853), extended many of the Bush era tax cuts of The Economic Growth and Tax Relief
Reconciliation Act of 2001 (EGTRRA) that then President Bush signed into law. As per the
announcement on Desire to Learn, I ll call this new bill The Bush Tax Cut Extension. The bill was
signed into law December 17, 2010. I am happy with most of the provisions and cuts as they
positively affect most individuals lives in this country, including mine. The Bush Tax Cut Extension
applies to small businesses as well but I will focus on the laws that affect mainly individuals. Working

According to the researchers at CCH, Without this patch...an estimated 21 million additional
households would be subject to the AMT. The AMT was designed so that higher income earners
would have to pay some tax and not be allowed all the deductions and credits. However, the AMT has
increasingly affected more middle income taxpayers. This is a really good provision that helps many
families keep more of their hard earned income. Also, the National Health Service Corps Scholarship
Program and the Armed Forces Scholarship Program continue to be qualified scholarships for
exclusion from income purposes through 2012. Without the tax extensions, in 2010 this would have
had to be included in income. I feel that people who are promoting our nation s health and fighting for
our country should not have to pay tax on their scholarships, making this another great aspect of the
tax cuts. Overall, there are dozens of other tax cut extensions in this Bush Tax Cut Extension bill that
were recently passed. I touched on some of the key ones that affect individuals. I am happy and
grateful that it did pass as well as millions of other Americans most likely are. This helps students,
parents, homeowners, working individuals, married couples, investors, and really every individual. We

The Harmony Of The Gospels Essay
Harmony of the Gospels The first four books of the New Testament, collectively referred to as The
Gospels, are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Defined, gospel means good news (BD, 682). Together,
these gospels written by distinctly different authors, each with a different perspective, offer marvelous
insight into the life and ministry of the Savior and Redeemer, Jesus the Christ. Through their
similarities and differences, they provide a beautiful testimony of his teachings and works to provide a
dynamic and living picture of who Jesus is: a King, Christ in action, a human, and as the light and life
of the world. Each author is striving to bring the good news of who the Son of God is and his amazing
and infinite Atonement, to all mankind.
Matthew
The first book of the New Testament is Matthew. Matthew was known before his conversion as Levi
(BD, 729), and lived in Capernaum which is located on the Northern Shore of the Sea of Galilee (The
Holy Land in New Testament Times, Map 11). He was Jewish publican, or tax gatherer, which was
possibly one of the most hated positions of that time. During Christ s ministry, Matthew was called to
be one of the Twelve Apostles, named in Matthew 10:3. In his writings, Matthew emphasizes that
Jesus is in fact that very Messiah that had been prophesied in the Old Testament, by citing the words
of Isaiah, Micah, and Jeremiah (Class Lecture, September 19). He sought to show the Jews that Jesus
is the King of kings, the promised Messiah (BD,

mid March 2011, spear phishing attack exploited an Adobe Flash vulnerability that was not patched at
the time, and is considered as one of the worst attacks in 21st century. The RSA immediately reported
that information stolen is related to SecurID two factor authentication products. The company has
faced criticism of its approach and maintained secrecy by keeping attackers in the dark as much as
possible. Later, in a conference call with analysts, RSA revealed that small groups of RSA employees
were targeted through e mail phishing displaying the title Job Recruitment 2011 that landed in email
junk folder. The document is an excel sheet, resulting hackers to gain control of machines and access
servers in RSA s network. The excel sheet contained a zero day installed through Adobe Flash

Applied Behavioral Analysis
Introduction
Behavior Analysis emphasizes on the values and principles that explain the process of learning
through the development of human beings. Behavior analysis represents scientific approach that
understands behavior within the context of occurrence. One of the principles of how learning occurs is
positive reinforcement. In the process of implementing reward after behavior, there is a possibility of
repetition of the action in the future. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) refers to the application of
these principles to achieve meaningful and positive change in relation to behavior(Johnny et al, 2011).
Objectives
To enhance understanding of applied behavioral analysis in relation to treatment of individuals with
autism
To illustrate why applied behavioral analysis is an effective treatment approach to individuals with
autism
To outline and explain importance of applied behavioral analysis to individuals suffering from autism

Status of Women in Indian Society... a Study
Status of women in society
A project report
Present scenario of the status of women in Indian society
According to India s constitution, women are legal citizens of the country and have equal rights with
men (Indian Parliament). Because of lack of acceptance from the male dominant society, Indian
women suffer immensely. Women are responsible for bearing children, yet they are malnourished and
in poor health. Women are also overworked in the fields and complete all of the domestic work. Most
Indian women are uneducated. Although the country s constitution says women have equal status as of
men, women are powerless and are mistreated inside and outside the home.
India is a society where the male is greatly revered. Therefore women, ... Show more content on

Educated/literate women will be better able to manage their families, so that their children become
good citizens of the country.
Mothers create the foundation stone on which children can build their careers and grow to become
respectable citizens.
The family is the foundation for building sustaining any nation and women is an important aspect of a
family.
Family participation should not be limited to their children only but must also include children of
relatives, neighbors and the less privileged. Since people do not live in isolation, we must encourage
mothers to participate in the parenting of people in and outside of their own families.
Young and even older children must also participate in supporting the family activities on a regular
basis. Through family participation, values can be instilled that will build and sustain a great nation.
My views
A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home,
brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the making
of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state.
The question is how secure a woman is in her family and society and what is her socio economic and
political status. The position of women in any society is the indicator of health of the state.
Women contribute to society in many, many ways! There are very, very few professions that

The Discrete Event System
In the Discrete Event Systems (DES) literature, deadlock avoidance for sequential, complex resource
allocation sys tems (RAS) is a well established problem that arises from many contemporary
technological applications [1], [2]. In its basic positioning, this problem concerns the coordinated
allocation of the system resources to concurrently executing processes so that every process can
eventually proceed to its completion. In particular, by utilizing the information about the current
allocation of the system resources and the available knowledge about the structure of the executing
processes, the applied control policy avoids the visitation of RAS states from which deadlock is
inevitable.
The work presented in this paper is an extension and an application of the symbolic framework that
has recently been proposed in [3], [4] for the computationally efficient de velopment of the maximally
permissive deadlock avoidance policy (DAP) for various classes of RAS. More specifically, by
modeling any given RAS instance in the modeling frame work of the extended finite automata (EFA),

Simon Kuznets Theory Of Income Inequality
Luke LeCoche
LeCoche.1
ID: 200408941
Statement of the Problem
In the mid 1900s, economist Simon Kuznets hypothesized that in the early stages of a nation s
development, when the nation is at low income levels, personal income inequality begins to increase,
and when the nation achieves higher levels of income, income inequality decreases. Simon Kuznets
formed this hypothesis from examining how when a nation is first developing, it s economy begins to
shift from rural areas to cities, and the laborers in the rural environments migrate to the cities in search
of work. Due to the dramatic increase in the labor force, many people are unemployed and those who
can find jobs make very little. The owners of these firms and businesses that hire the ... Show more

The variables Emissions, Population, GDPpercapita, represent the sulphur emissions for a specific
country code, the recorded population for that country, and the GDPpercapita for that country,
respectively. It is important to note that there are thirty one entries in each of those variables for each
country code, and this is due to the observations being recorded over the course of thirty one years,
from 1960 to 1990, for each country. So in the variable population, the first thirty one entries represent
the populations from the years 1960 1990 for country code 54, which represents Canada. The
Environmental Kuznets curve states that there is a point where sulphur emissions of a country stop
increasing and start decreasing. This would mean that there is a maximum, and to determine if there is
a maximum I took the variable GDPpercapita and squared it to create the variable. GDPpercapitasq. If
there is a maximum, the variable GDPpercapitasq would have a negative

George Orwell s Writing Style
The English language changes dramatically over time, effecting how English writers formulate their
words; some argue that these changes are not for the better. In the essay Politics and the English
Language, George Orwell evaluates both modern and past works, and elaborates on his views of how
language degrades. He conveys that the modern writing style needs considerable improvement. Orwell
wants writers and speakers, such as politicians, to adjust their phrasing to favor clarity. At first, Orwell
uses modern language errors in his own writing to demonstrate their impracticality, then he reveals
how modern writers dupe their readers, in the end Orwell warns his audience of the harmful effects of
deficient writing. Right away, the author derides the modern writing style to establish the framework
of his message. Orwell lists examples of bad modern phrasing throughout his essay. In one instance,
he uses a mocking tone before listing a number of improper phrases, asserting that they . . . save the
trouble of picking out appropriate verbs and nouns (Orwell 3). The author does not literally mean that
the phrases he lists avoid the necessity of choosing the right words; he uses the words save the trouble
as a kind of joke. He applies a sarcastic tone to make his audience take the use of these phrases less
seriously. His wittiness makes the phrases that modern writers use seem almost laughable because
they are so unclear in their complexity. Through his mockery, he

Compare and Contrast Between Classical India and China Essay
CAC between India and China When analyzing cultural traditions and innovations, economic

and classical India. Classical China lasted from 2000 B.C.E 600 C.E, while classical India lasted from
600 B.C.E 600 C.E. There are quite a few similarities and differences between these two civilizations.
With regards to cultural traditions and innovations both developed similar technologies in their period.

The Gupta s promoted Sanskrit, which became the language of educated people, but this, did not
change the diversity of popular, regional languages. Both India and China were technologically
advanced in their societies with new inventions and ideas. Economic relationships between classical
China and India were similar and almost seemed to rely on one another. India was considered the
center of trade . Most trade routes were all passing through and dependent on India. Indian emphasis
on trade and merchant activity was far more than in China, and also greater in the classical
Mediterranean world. During the Maurya rule, India expanded their trade between the main centers of
civilization Eurasia and Africa. Some products produced at one end of the system, such as Chinese
silks and porcelains, were carried the whole length of the trading networks to be sold at the other end
of the routes, in Rome. As a result, China and India both had to work together and figure out a way to
make sure and help each other because both civilizations depended on each other for different things.
Social classifications and expectations between classical china and classical India were very similar to
each other. Both classical China and classical India had what is called a caste system. A caste system
is when a citizen is organized into a special group that determined everything from their job, to their
political rights, to their religious beliefs, and who they would marry.

Diversity Paper
Diversity Behavior is best defined as the unique behaviors, emotions and thought processes of an
individual including the way that he or she interacts with others. While much of behavior may be
thought to be innate, there are also external factors that can impact an individual s behavior. These
factors have diversity and demographic characteristics; four of these factors will be discussed in this
paper and the impact each has on individuals will be shown. Religion, personality traits, age and
gender are thought to have the greatest impacts and therefore providing the best opportunity for
discussion.

in various situations. In its most basic form personality is attitude, values and interests. Personality
traits can also be known as behavioral differences. Understanding and appreciating the diverse
personalities of others can help people to interact and know why one person might act or respond in a
certain way. This appreciation of personality diversity gives respect to the quirks and differences of
individuals therefore respecting these differences as strengths. A person s personality traits develop for
various reasons. These reasons can stem from the interactions of an individual with the environment
along with biological influences. These environmental influences can be living during segregated
times, being reared in a single parent family along with living in a household with an income below

Argumentative Essay On Exotic Animals
While domesticated pets like dogs and cats make good pets many people want to own exotic animals
that belong in the wild. These animals range from tigers to pythons, but should not be owned as they
need special care most people cannot provide. Not only this, but exotic animals release is harmful for
everyone, the exotic animal, humans, and native animals. Lastly, many exotic animals carry diseases
that are harmless to them, but fatal to humans. Exotic pets are harmful for everyone, not just the pet.
This is why people should not be able to own exotic pets.
Although it may be different and fun to own an exotic animal, they require special care that most
people just cannot provide. Many supporters claim they are just like other pets, but they require care
that is very difficult to provide. This includes, a special diet, housing, and maintenance. These
standards cannot be met by an average person, so Instead of trying to meet these animals needs,
owners use cruel methods to make them more pet like, and domesticated. These methods include
bleak or lifeless enclosures, and even chaining and beating. It s thought people can domesticate these
animals but that s not the case. This would take several years of breeding. The problems go even
further after this. Animals also often have things like claw and tooth removal, which are extremely
painful. If a person cannot take care of the animal they turn to zoos, however zoos cannot take care of

Of Anglo Saxon And Germanic Culture In Beowulf
Beowulf: The Exemplar of Anglo Saxon and Germanic Culture The Anglo Saxon and Germanic
culture is widely known for being raiders and pillagers. But as this epic poem is told, Beowulf shows a
different perspective of this culture, and embodies this culture in his heroic instances during this epic
poem. For the Anglo Saxon and Germanic culture is the backbone of this poem s atmosphere. As the
story is told and develops with Beowulf, he himself shows through his heroic instances what it means
to be a heroic figure. With that figure Beowulf will be displaying qualities such as honor, loyalty, and
strength, which are the three pillars of the Anglo Saxon and Germanic culture. Beowulf s first showing
of his loyalty was when he heard about Grendel and decided to go defeat this monster. When he heard
about Grendel, Hygelac s thane was on home ground, over in Geatland. There was no one else like
him alive. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, high born and powerful. He ordered a boat
that would ply the waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and search out that king, the
famous prince who needed defenders (Beowulf, Line 195 201). His decision to go and help the Danes
was one of debt, for he knew of Hrothgar and had helped his father during exile. As Beowulf and his
men arrived to Hrothgar s kingdom, his guards didn t know about this man coming, but when they saw
him they were just excited knowing he could be the one. We belong by birth to the Geat people

Mountains are too big to be real, I saw one in TV that has a women hanging on it by ropes. Women
aren t real like Ma is, and girls and boys not either. Men aren t real except Old Nick, and I m not
actually sure if he s real for real. Maybe half? (Donoghue 18)
Through this, we see that the only other person who might be real is Old Nick. Even then, Jack
expresses the thought that Old Nick may not be completely real because he is from Outside. Once
Jack learns that outside is a real place he must being to comprehend the idea that Outside has
everything (Donoghue 71). As Jack begins to think this through he states:
Whenever I think of a thing now like skis or fireworks or islands or elevators or yo yos, I have to
remember they re real, they re actually happening in Outside all together. It makes my head hurt. And
people too, firefighters teachers burglars babies saints soccer players and all sorts, they re all really in
Outside. I m not there, though, me and Ma, we re the only ones not there. Are we still real? (Donoghue
71) This is just the beginning of his thought process about the unknown world he refers to as Outside.
The perspective of the narrator allows the reader to begin to understand the mind of a child. The
author chooses to use this unique point of view to give the audience the chance to think of what it
would be like to be in a situation like this. It makes a person reflect and think about their childhood,
how it was different, and what they

Sexual Harrasment
Throughout the 1840 s and 1850 s a growing tension developed between the Northern and Southern
states of America. That tension was primarily focused on the existence of slavery in the Southern
states. Most Northern states had abolished slavery by 1850 and made a promise to the people to end
slavery completely. They wanted the South to begin to become similar to the North, and to live under
the concept of free labor, and not rely on slavery for productivity. The resentment for the interference
of the North angered southerners because they felt that it was not the place of the federal government
to interfere. Ever since the American Revolution sectional differences arose, the first being those
favoring greater states rights and those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By 1860, one quarter of all Northerners lived in urban areas. Between 1800 and 1860, the percentage
of laborers working in agricultural pursuits dropped drastically from 70% to only 40%. Slavery had
died out, replaced in the cities and factories by immigrant labor from Europe. In fact an overwhelming
majority of immigrants, seven out of every eight, settled in the North rather than the South.
Transportation was easier in the North, which boasted more than two thirds of the railroad tracks in
the country and the economy was on an upswing. Far more Northerners than Southerners belonged to
the Whig/Republican political party and they were far more likely to have careers in business,
medicine, or education. In fact, an engineer was six times as likely to be from the North as from the
South. Northern children were slightly more prone to attend school than Southern children.
The fertile soil and warm climate of the South made it ideal for large scale farms and crops like
tobacco and cotton because agriculture was so profitable few Southerners saw a need for industrial
development. Eighty percent of the labor force worked on the farm. Although two thirds of
Southerners owned no slaves at all, by 1860 the South s peculiar institution was inextricably tied to
the region s economy and culture. In fact, there were almost as many blacks but slaves and free in the

Social Classes In Plato s Republic
Just as the soul has three distinct parts that compose it the republic has three distinct social classes and
without each of the three parts, the republic cannot function properly. There is dependability among
the three social classes in the republic because people cannot survive alone, a farmer won t make his
own plough, not if it s to be a good one, nor his hoe, nor any of his other farming tools. Neither will a
builder and he, too, needs lots of things (Republic, II, 370d). Dependability will become a key element
amongst the citizens because one man alone cannot maintain an entire republic, he cannot take on
twenty distinct roles in society at the same time. This will not uphold an entire city and will only
prevent the republic from having

Sight And Blindness In Oedipus
When most people think of blindness they think of someone who cannot see out of their eyes.
However, someone can have their eyesight but be unable to see what is going on around them and the
impact they are making in everyday life. In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus was blind both metaphorically and
eventually physically. Sophocles recurring motif of sight and blindness serves to illustrate Oedipus s
own blindness and understanding. Tiresias is physically blind, but sees more into Oedipus than
Oedipus can see in himself. Oedipus s lack of self knowledge makes him metaphorically blind. Once
he gains knowledge and insight, Oedipus no longer wants his physical sight.
Tiresias is a blind prophet who Oedipus calls upon to clarify information from Apollo s oracle.
Tiresias is physically blind but has the ability to see metaphorically and make predictions. He is
hesitant to reveal to all of his knowledge of Oedipus identity. You, even though you see clearly, do not
see the scope of evil, nor where you live, nor with whom you dwell. Do you know your true descent?
And secretly you are an enemy to your own kin, both under the earth and on it (433 438). Tiresias
knows Oedipus descent and Oedipus needs some self insight to understand the deeds he has
committed and the truth of his birth. Oedipus ignorance causes him to be angry and poke fun at
Tiresias s blindness. Tiresias s blindness allows him to ponder and self reflect, which Oedipus fails to
do which causes his downfall. Tiresias

Describe Mr Brirkway
Mr. Birkway is Sal s English teacher. He is a tall man with brown cow like eyes. He has short dark
hair and he is energetic. I chose to make him look like the way he is because it makes him look a lot
friendlier. I also gave him a friendly smile so people would like him more. The special object I chose
was the pile of journals and inside the pile was Mr. Birkways journal. The journal tells you about
words that describe his personality like terrific, great or super. It also makes him who he is and how he
is different from all the other journals. Everyone is different from each other in a way. The quote for

Fashion Magazines Affects Women s Self-Esteem
Depleting Body Image:
The Effects of Female Magazine Models on the Self esteem and Body Image of College age Women
Influence of Magazines on College Age Females Body Image
Millions of women every day are bombarded with the media s idea of the perfect body. These
unrealistic images are portrayed in women s magazines all over the country. The message being sent
to women is that they are not pretty or skinny enough. The average American woman is 5 4 and
weighs 140 pounds, while the average American model is 5 11 and weighs 117 pounds. Annually,
magazine companies spend billions of dollars on diet and exercise advertisements to put in their
magazines. Magazines sell body dissatisfaction to their readers through unrealistic images of ... Show

They found it was important to use the body and breast variables separately. Cusumano and Thompson
also found a distinct lack of a relationship between exposure to body size ideals and measures of body
satisfaction, eating disturbance, self esteem and one s own actual degree of obesity. Internalization of
social norms of appearance accounted for significant and substantial variance, whereas exposure was
not.
Thomsen s (2002) study Health and Beauty Magazine Reading and Body Shape concerns among a
group of college women, proposed testing a structural equation model which incorporates several
mediating processes through which beauty/fashion, health/fitness magazines might influence the
college age female s fear of being fat. He explores the potential direct and indirect effects of two
additional mediating influences: hope and the internalized belief that men expect women to be thin.
Three key findings emerge from this study. The first is women s belief about men s preferences or
expectations for female thinness were the strongest predictor of body shape and size concerns.
Although two types of magazines were studied, only health and fitness magazine readings were
directly linked to body shape and size concerns. Finally, hope was not influenced by the reading,
expected future weight gain and loss, and body shape and size concerns; this finding was not
anticipated.

The Theory Of Evolution Of Creationism
The theory of evolution is at odds with the views of many religions, and many people want to allow a
religious view of creationism to be taught in the public school system. The foundation of evolution is
based upon the belief that the origin of all ordered complex systems, including living creatures, can be
explained by natural laws without the initiation or intervention of God. A person who believes in the
biblical model of creation is viewed by some non believers as a naive, narrow minded religious fanatic
who is not willing to look at the observable evidence with an open mind. Because the evolutionary
idea of origins has been so widely accepted by the scientific community, many people have reasoned
that the creation model should be completely rejected without fairly examining its claims. Even many
Christians who have deep trust and faith in the Bible have never really understood the claims of the
creation account
(McLean 11).
Over the past several years, a great deal of controversy surrounding the creation evolution issue has
been generated by scientists who have based their claims on the creation model and have been willing
to let their reputations stand. Creationists have openly requested that when the discussion of origins
occurs in the public school system, both the model of creation and evolution be presented side by side.
Initially, scientists and educators who have accepted the theory of evolution without question were
reluctant to pay any serious attention to

americanisation of australian television Essay
The Americanization of Australian Television is a sad and terrible thing. It is a process whereby
ordinary Australians are bombarded every day with images of American lifestyle, so much that it
merges almost unnoticed into their own lifestyle. It is a process whereby our home grown
entertainment industry is overwhelmed by the enormous powerhouse of the American economy, with
drastic effects upon the modern Australian nation. Not only is Australian free to air TV being
dominated by American produced shows, but a lot of the content on the Australian TV shows is
sourced from America. American culture is part of Australian mass consumer culture, It dominates our
television.
If we look at the early history of Australian television, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have tried. The only local program I could praise is Wildside ( Cited in the Sydney Morning Herald,
David Dale). So whilst there are many Australians concerned over this issue there are so many more
that do not see the affect the American TV culture is having on Australian television and its identity,
the distinction between what is inside and outside Australian culture is slipping away.
The influence of Americanisation upon Australian Free to air TV is clearly evident, If we look at the
top 10 shows that are viewed by the Australian public today it would be obvious that the top two
shows are both American produced, Lost and Desperate Housewives (Top 10 shows, Who Magazine.).
Lost and Desperate Housewives are doing very well, loading up the viewing figures in the US favour.
But go back six months and the picture would be far more balanced. Jump eight years back, and Blue
Heelers was holding its own against Friends (Bell Phillip, Television 1997 Twenty Most popular
programs). The Australian audience is becoming more Americanised, as more and more prefer
watching American TV shows opposed to the ones made in Australia. Shows like SVU, Law and
Order, CSI (and its derivatives), NCIS, and the OC, dominate the TV screens of many Australian
households today. Ordinary Australians spend many hours watching TV (especially Australian youth),

The Role Of Stereotypes In The Workplace
The way to overcome this challenge in the workplace is for companies to host events to celebrate
accomplishments and achievements, so that it can help them balance out their company culture
(Gausepohl, 2016). These events are also done, so that the different generations can learn about each
other. Through these events, companies should try to create a company culture that takes into
consideration of all the generations, so that everyone can work together without any disagreements
about the culture of the company (Srivastava). The next challenge that generations face in the
workplace is communication. In today s workplace, there are many different ways to communicate
with a co worker, such as using letters, emails, telephones, text, ... Show more content on

All the generations believe that there are certain negative stereotypes associated with each age group
and these stereotypes can cause conflicts and challenges in the workplace because one generation will
think they are better than another which will cause the generations to not work well with each other.
For example, the stereotypes that older generations believe that Millennials have are that they are lazy,
entitled, tech obsessed, and overeager while the Millennials view the older generations as being too
stubborn to change and difficult to train (Srivastava). Stereotypes in the workplace is a big challenge
for many organizations that have many generations working together, but the best way to tackle this
problem is for leaders of a company to instill in their workers to not label other generations and not let
the perceived stereotypes change how they view all age groups (Gausepohl, 2016). In addition, the
leaders are also encouraged to get involved in any problems that are forming in their company and
they should take immediate action to resolve them. The main reason why stereotypes in the workplace
is a challenge is because of the pride and ignorance that each generation has that creates these beliefs
about each age group. The way to eliminate this kind of thinking is by focusing more on the ability of
an individual and not the age of the person, so that pride and ignorance does not blind a person s
judgement about another individual

Wild West Show History
Wild West shows were the amusement parks of our time. They were full of fun and entertainment.
These shows were also responsible for the images of the Wild West we think of today. In the book,
True Grit, Mattie hears that Rooster Cogburn is in a Wild West show. She goes to see the Cole
Younger and Frank James Wild West show and finds out that Rooster is dead. Wild West shows were
what shaped our idea of the Wild West, our ideas of fun, and the name cowboy.
Wild West Shows were a form of entertainment composed of scenes from the early, western United
States. They included many sorts of back territory feats. Some of them included horseback riding,
marksmanship or sharpshooting, and rope twirling ( wild west show ). They traveled all over the
United States to perform. They even went to show a performance to the Queen of England ( A Brief
History )! People mostly came for entertainment, excitement, and thrill ( Wild West Shows ).
Buffalo Bill was the one who created these shows. William F. Buffalo Bill Cody was born on February
26, 1846 in LeClaire, Iowa ( Buffalo Bill Cody ). At age eleven, he moved away from his family to
herd cattle and to work as a driver on a wagon train, a train of wagons and horses transporting
supplies. After those jobs he tried gold mining and fur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On January 10, 1917, Buffalo Bill passed away ( Buffalo Bill Cody ). He was buried on Lookout
Mountain in Colorado, overlooking Denver and the plains ( A Brief History ). Although Buffalo Bill
himself was gone his legacy lives on. He was the creator of the common myth of The Old West, with
its bandits, indians, and cowboys, like we see in Hollywood movies today ( Buffalo Bill Cody ).
Buffalo Bill also was equal to people like cowboys, giving them the respect and dignity that others did
not ( A Brief History ). Buffalo Bill was a remarkable man who, through Wild West shows, changed
our ideas of the Wild West, our ideas of fun, and the name

  • 3. Los Angeles Riots Of 1992 Essay It was the evening of August 9th 2014, when a small town erupted in a state of chaos. St. Louis County, Missouri was in a state of emergency as social riots spread. Belligerent men and women of all ages, storm around town, destroying all that they can put their hands on. Private businesses are burnt down and the windows of parked vehicles are shattered. Hateful slurs are graffitied around town, with sayings like, fuck the police, and the only good cop is a dead cop. Rocks are thrown and police officers use tear gas to control the growing crowd. Concerned locals lock themselves in their homes hoping for the craziness to die down. In what seems to be a twisted dream, society as we know it, has turned into a battle field. A riot can be defined as the violent disturbance of society s peace, it is also known as the violent version of a protest. Riots are often referred to as urban riots, due to most riots being in cities filled with poverty. In the midst of an urban riot, you will likely see public buildings being destroyed and/or physical altercations between two social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 was a public outcry after 26 year old African American, Rodney King, was severely beaten by white police officers. Four policemen were caught on surveillance, beating Rodney King after a high speed police pursuit. The police officers were eventually acquitted of their crimes, initiating a violent protest. Outraged civilians destroyed public property and physically assaulted innocent bystanders. The actions that took place in Los Angeles shocked the world. Referring back to the definition of a riot, African Americans across the country felt betrayed by the justice system. It was assumed that the troopers would be charged for assault, especially since it was caught on film. • 4. Tax Law Changes of 2012 The bill officially titled Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010 (HR 4853), extended many of the Bush era tax cuts of The Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 (EGTRRA) that then President Bush signed into law. As per the announcement on Desire to Learn, I ll call this new bill The Bush Tax Cut Extension. The bill was signed into law December 17, 2010. I am happy with most of the provisions and cuts as they positively affect most individuals lives in this country, including mine. The Bush Tax Cut Extension applies to small businesses as well but I will focus on the laws that affect mainly individuals. Working people, both rich and poor, will be able to save more with the tax ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the researchers at CCH, Without this patch...an estimated 21 million additional households would be subject to the AMT. The AMT was designed so that higher income earners would have to pay some tax and not be allowed all the deductions and credits. However, the AMT has increasingly affected more middle income taxpayers. This is a really good provision that helps many families keep more of their hard earned income. Also, the National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program and the Armed Forces Scholarship Program continue to be qualified scholarships for exclusion from income purposes through 2012. Without the tax extensions, in 2010 this would have had to be included in income. I feel that people who are promoting our nation s health and fighting for our country should not have to pay tax on their scholarships, making this another great aspect of the tax cuts. Overall, there are dozens of other tax cut extensions in this Bush Tax Cut Extension bill that were recently passed. I touched on some of the key ones that affect individuals. I am happy and grateful that it did pass as well as millions of other Americans most likely are. This helps students, parents, homeowners, working individuals, married couples, investors, and really every individual. We are all in some way, shape, or form affected by these tax ... • 6. The Harmony Of The Gospels Essay Harmony of the Gospels The first four books of the New Testament, collectively referred to as The Gospels, are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Defined, gospel means good news (BD, 682). Together, these gospels written by distinctly different authors, each with a different perspective, offer marvelous insight into the life and ministry of the Savior and Redeemer, Jesus the Christ. Through their similarities and differences, they provide a beautiful testimony of his teachings and works to provide a dynamic and living picture of who Jesus is: a King, Christ in action, a human, and as the light and life of the world. Each author is striving to bring the good news of who the Son of God is and his amazing and infinite Atonement, to all mankind. Matthew The first book of the New Testament is Matthew. Matthew was known before his conversion as Levi (BD, 729), and lived in Capernaum which is located on the Northern Shore of the Sea of Galilee (The Holy Land in New Testament Times, Map 11). He was Jewish publican, or tax gatherer, which was possibly one of the most hated positions of that time. During Christ s ministry, Matthew was called to be one of the Twelve Apostles, named in Matthew 10:3. In his writings, Matthew emphasizes that Jesus is in fact that very Messiah that had been prophesied in the Old Testament, by citing the words of Isaiah, Micah, and Jeremiah (Class Lecture, September 19). He sought to show the Jews that Jesus is the King of kings, the promised Messiah (BD, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Status of Women in Indian Society... a Study Status of women in society A project report Present scenario of the status of women in Indian society According to India s constitution, women are legal citizens of the country and have equal rights with men (Indian Parliament). Because of lack of acceptance from the male dominant society, Indian women suffer immensely. Women are responsible for bearing children, yet they are malnourished and in poor health. Women are also overworked in the fields and complete all of the domestic work. Most Indian women are uneducated. Although the country s constitution says women have equal status as of men, women are powerless and are mistreated inside and outside the home. India is a society where the male is greatly revered. Mothers create the foundation stone on which children can build their careers and grow to become respectable citizens. The family is the foundation for building sustaining any nation and women is an important aspect of a family. Family participation should not be limited to their children only but must also include children of relatives, neighbors and the less privileged. Since people do not live in isolation, we must encourage mothers to participate in the parenting of people in and outside of their own families. Young and even older children must also participate in supporting the family activities on a regular basis. Through family participation, values can be instilled that will build and sustain a great nation. My views A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home, brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the making of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state. The question is how secure a woman is in her family and society and what is her socio economic and political status. The position of women in any society is the indicator of health of the state. • 10. The Discrete Event System In the Discrete Event Systems (DES) literature, deadlock avoidance for sequential, complex resource allocation sys tems (RAS) is a well established problem that arises from many contemporary technological applications [1], [2]. In its basic positioning, this problem concerns the coordinated allocation of the system resources to concurrently executing processes so that every process can eventually proceed to its completion. In particular, by utilizing the information about the current allocation of the system resources and the available knowledge about the structure of the executing processes, the applied control policy avoids the visitation of RAS states from which deadlock is inevitable. The work presented in this paper is an extension and an application of the symbolic framework that has recently been proposed in [3], [4] for the computationally efficient de velopment of the maximally permissive deadlock avoidance policy (DAP) for various classes of RAS. • 12. Simon Kuznets Theory Of Income Inequality Luke LeCoche LeCoche.1 ID: 200408941 Statement of the Problem In the mid 1900s, economist Simon Kuznets hypothesized that in the early stages of a nation s development, when the nation is at low income levels, personal income inequality begins to increase, and when the nation achieves higher levels of income, income inequality decreases. Simon Kuznets formed this hypothesis from examining how when a nation is first developing, it s economy begins to shift from rural areas to cities, and the laborers in the rural environments migrate to the cities in search of work. Due to the dramatic increase in the labor force, many people are unemployed and those who can find jobs make very little. The owners of these firms and businesses that hire the ... So in the variable population, the first thirty one entries represent the populations from the years 1960 1990 for country code 54, which represents Canada. The Environmental Kuznets curve states that there is a point where sulphur emissions of a country stop increasing and start decreasing. • 13. George Orwell s Writing Style The English language changes dramatically over time, effecting how English writers formulate their words; some argue that these changes are not for the better. In the essay Politics and the English Language, George Orwell evaluates both modern and past works, and elaborates on his views of how language degrades. He conveys that the modern writing style needs considerable improvement. Orwell wants writers and speakers, such as politicians, to adjust their phrasing to favor clarity. At first, Orwell uses modern language errors in his own writing to demonstrate their impracticality, then he reveals how modern writers dupe their readers, in the end Orwell warns his audience of the harmful effects of deficient writing. Right away, the author derides the modern writing style to establish the framework of his message. Orwell lists examples of bad modern phrasing throughout his essay. In one instance, he uses a mocking tone before listing a number of improper phrases, asserting that they . . . save the trouble of picking out appropriate verbs and nouns (Orwell 3). The author does not literally mean that the phrases he lists avoid the necessity of choosing the right words; he uses the words save the trouble as a kind of joke. He applies a sarcastic tone to make his audience take the use of these phrases less seriously. His wittiness makes the phrases that modern writers use seem almost laughable because they are so unclear in their complexity. Through his mockery, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But as this epic poem is told, Beowulf shows a different perspective of this culture, and embodies this culture in his heroic instances during this epic poem. For the Anglo Saxon and Germanic culture is the backbone of this poem s atmosphere. As the story is told and develops with Beowulf, he himself shows through his heroic instances what it means to be a heroic figure. With that figure Beowulf will be displaying qualities such as honor, loyalty, and strength, which are the three pillars of the Anglo Saxon and Germanic culture. Beowulf s first showing of his loyalty was when he heard about Grendel and decided to go defeat this monster. When he heard about Grendel, Hygelac s thane was on home ground, over in Geatland. There was no one else like him alive. In his day, he was the mightiest man on earth, high born and powerful. He ordered a boat that would ply the waves. He announced his plan: to sail the swan s road and search out that king, the famous prince who needed defenders (Beowulf, Line 195 201). His decision to go and help the Danes was one of debt, for he knew of Hrothgar and had helped his father during exile. However, someone can have their eyesight but be unable to see what is going on around them and the impact they are making in everyday life. In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus was blind both metaphorically and eventually physically. Sophocles recurring motif of sight and blindness serves to illustrate Oedipus s own blindness and understanding. Tiresias is physically blind, but sees more into Oedipus than Oedipus can see in himself. Oedipus s lack of self knowledge makes him metaphorically blind. Once he gains knowledge and insight, Oedipus no longer wants his physical sight. Tiresias is a blind prophet who Oedipus calls upon to clarify information from Apollo s oracle. Tiresias is physically blind but has the ability to see metaphorically and make predictions. He is hesitant to reveal to all of his knowledge of Oedipus identity. You, even though you see clearly, do not see the scope of evil, nor where you live, nor with whom you dwell. Do you know your true descent? And secretly you are an enemy to your own kin, both under the earth and on it (433 438). Tiresias knows Oedipus descent and Oedipus needs some self insight to understand the deeds he has committed and the truth of his birth. • 30. The Theory Of Evolution Of Creationism The theory of evolution is at odds with the views of many religions, and many people want to allow a religious view of creationism to be taught in the public school system. The foundation of evolution is based upon the belief that the origin of all ordered complex systems, including living creatures, can be explained by natural laws without the initiation or intervention of God. A person who believes in the biblical model of creation is viewed by some non believers as a naive, narrow minded religious fanatic who is not willing to look at the observable evidence with an open mind. Because the evolutionary idea of origins has been so widely accepted by the scientific community, many people have reasoned that the creation model should be completely rejected without fairly examining its claims. Even many Christians who have deep trust and faith in the Bible have never really understood the claims of the creation account (McLean 11). Over the past several years, a great deal of controversy surrounding the creation evolution issue has been generated by scientists who have based their claims on the creation model and have been willing to let their reputations stand. Creationists have openly requested that when the discussion of origins occurs in the public school system, both the model of creation and evolution be presented side by side.
