Harold Pinter´s Among the Hidden and the Theme of Propaganda
It s so easy for propaganda to work, and dissent to be mocked, believes Harold Pinter, Nobel Prize
winning English playwright, screenwriter, director and actor. Various propaganda from the totalitarian
government of Among the Hidden will affect citizens, baron or farmer. Either way, there will be
attempts to voice other sides of the story. The government is spreading lies about the population
police; their deceptive ways will change citizen s lives.
Luke is the third child of a farmer s family, and propaganda deeply interfered with his life. Ever since
he was a toddler, he was obliged to a strict set of rules from his paranoid parents. Then they started
running all that on TV about the Population Police, how the Population Police had ways of finding out
everything, how they d do anything to enforce the law... And your dad started hearing rumors in town,
about other babies... (10 11) Luke s mother replied to his questioning. His mother was telling him
about the government s propaganda, the propaganda they had believed. Luke s parents fell right into
the government s trap of lies. Therefore, Luke was forbidden from watching TV, using the computer,
or calling someone on the phone, blocking him from the outside world. Being a farmer s third child
practically meant Luke was clueless when it came to real life. The doctrines of the government
changed Luke s life.
Barons were impacted, in a distinct way. They say. But everybody knows the Government s not that

Dust Bowl Case Study
All through in the 1930s, eastern Colorado alongside most of the Southern Plains states, experienced
outrageous dry seasons. Baca County was among the regions hardest hit, close to the focal point of
what was named the Dust Bowl. Southeastern Colorado got just 126 aggregate creeps of dampness for
every one of the years somewhere around 1930 and 1939. This was 205 inches not exactly the earlier
decade, and well beneath the 18 inches yearly expected to develop wheat. No rain implied no
products, and no yields implied no insurance for the dirt when the spring winds arrived.
Clean was normal in the semi dry territories of Colorado when the high fields winds blew, so nobody
was truly amazed to see a couple of dusters in eastern Colorado in 1931. They returned the following
year with more energy, and by 1933 the clean tempests were intense to the point that regular daily
existence turned out to be practically unthinkable for both individuals and animals. One tempest,
starting on May 9, 1934 and going on for a few days, was assessed to have expelled 300 million tons
of rich finish soil off of the Great Plains. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Homageddon Advertisement Analysis Essay
People have been constantly made aware of the dangers of smoking their whole lives. The warnings
are shown in blaring, edgy commercials, obscenely blunt labels, and methodically indoctrinated
through numerous programs at schools. Despite this, people still choose to smoke and callously ignore
the unending dire warnings that smoking is a leading cause of cancer, numerous other debilitating
health problems, bad personal hygiene and social disgrace. Most people however, are also very much
unaware that smoking can have adverse effects on the animals around them. The advertisement
Catmageddon presented by Truth Orange does a powerful job in persuading young adults to not smoke
though the use of logos, pathos, and ethos.
The purpose of this advertisement is to show young adults the negative effect smoking has on animals.
It is an appeal to young adults through the use of up to date jargon and social norms in creating current
relatable memes and music. To spread the message, Truth Orange focuses mainly on cats that are
famous from their appearances in a wide array of YouTube videos. The commercials show a cat that
plays the piano, another cat gliding around on a Rumba, and cats chasing laser pointers. The primary
target audience is young adults ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is first seen when the advertisement shows the fact graphic: Cats are twice as likely to get cancer
if their owner smokes. This graphic inserts the relationship into the viewer s mind that if smoking
harms cats, then the people who smoke are harming cats directly. The commercial continues with the
idea reaching its logical conclusion that if people who smoke kill cats, and I smoke, then I will be
killing my own cat. Since the whole purpose of the advertisement is to stop young adults from
smoking, then putting forth the idea that everyone would be angry with that person for killing the
cat/cat videos acts as a form of peer

For this database project, you will use MS Access to create a database of vendors, and the related
items they sell to your hardware store. For example, if you are Lowe s® or Home Depot®, you
purchase items to sell from various vendors, such as Black and Decker®. Some of those items may be
power tools or hand tools. You may purchase items for sale from other vendors, such as garden tools.
Your database is made up of two tables: * The vendor table, it will contain at least four vendors in it. *
And the item table, it will contain at least three items for each vendor.
In this project, you will:
1. Design the Table Structure 2. Enter the Data. Print. 3. Relate the two tables. Print. 4. Then delete ...

You are going to follow the procedure described in class to relate the Vendor table to the Item table.
They will be related via the Vendor Table s VENDOR ID to the Item Table s VENDOR ID. Before
you create your relationship, you must be sure that at least one record match exists between the two
tables. When you create your relationship, you must be sure to specify that you will be enforcing
referential integrity. After you have created your relationship, and have entered all of your data (you
may have entered all of your data before creating the relationship that s OK), you will need to delete
one record. You will need to delete one record from the Item Table (not the Vendor Table). You should
delete a record that is not the last record in your table. If you have 12 records, do not delete the 12th
record. By looking at the numbered Item ID s, I ll be able to tell that you successfully deleted one
record. 4. QUERIES Joined Query * Using Design View, create a joined query on your data. * When
you create your query, add both tables to the query. As in class, the relationship should be displayed in
the Query by Example grid. * Select from the Vendor Table: * Vendor ID * Vendor Name * Select
from the Item Table: * Item ID * Item Description * List Price * On Hand Qty * Item Type * Sort the

Art Of Bullhitting Research Paper
The art of bullshitting Art is one thing that can be associated to any form of verb. There is the art of
talking, art of thinking, art of waiting, art of holding a pen, art of reading, and not to forget the art to
talk about art. Then after all of that, there s the mother of all arts, The Art Of Bullshitting . Usually
People would not associate with such an art with something that anyone should be proud of exhibiting
(yeah, I agree, there are people who are proud of bullshitting) and they have their own good reasons to

The Construction Of The Twin Towers
The Construction of the Twin Towers Foundation system In the beginning of the project, the surveying
team discovered a steep limestone cliff beneath the surface of the original site for the Petronas Twin
Towers. This would cause failure to the foundation resulting on a higher cost and the need for
exceptional experts to build the foundation as planned. It alarmed the whole construction team to
come up with a whole new strategy to overcome the problem which ended up with the movement of
the building site 60 meters to the south east away from its original footprint which was located on the
busy intersection of Jalan Ramlee and Jalan Ampang. The new location would mean that the buildings
would sit on a concrete mat anchored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But each tower would exert 1,140 kilopascals of pressure, more than twice the weight bearing capacity
of Kenny Hill soil [ Gala Abada, 2004] As a result of the soil conditions, friction barrettes (a
rectangular friction piles with heavily textured sides varying from 40 meters to 105 meters in depth)
were needed in order for the foundation to be completed. Grout tubes were lowered into each hole to
force concrete from the edge of the pile into the surrounding to maximize the efficiency of the friction
piles[ Spiro Pollalis,2002].A concrete mat cast was then installed on top of the barrettes which then
completed each foundation of the twin towers.
Figure 4: The soil and foundation of the twin towers Figure 5: Construction of the foundation Eighty
five barrettes were used to support each tower whereas nineteen shorter barrettes were needed for each
bustles( the shorter cylindrical towers that was half the height of the taller towers). There were several
problems that occurred from specific conditions of the site. An underground cavern in the porous
limestone cliff caused a portion of the perimeter wall to collapse, causing a two week delay in the
pouring of this element. In order to keep up with the schedule, the pouring of the mat consisted of two
continuous pours with the aid of eight pumps that went for more than fifty hours for each pour. For a

What I Learned From The Chief Officer Of The Largest...
When offered a seat on a rocket ship, don t ask what seat just get in Sheryl Sandberg. This quote from
the chief operating officer of the largest social media sites reinforces what I have been taught since I
was young. Taking the chance to do something you could possibly never have the chance to try again
is worth the risk rather than playing it safe and wishing you could have done it. One of my earliest
memories was when I was still living in Robbinsdale. My dad was, and still is, the type of guy that
will let his kids take risks if he knows a lesson could be learned from the outcome. That is exactly
what he did in this situation. I thought is was a good idea to try and climb up a slide at a busy
playground, consequently, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally I would have never tried this at all, not even thought about it, but something that day pulled
me to try it so I did. Going back and thinking about it now it was a really bad idea because I could
barely water ski in general! The pain was immense, the amount of stinging I was feeling was like
nothing I had ever experienced. I was up and doing pretty well for about 40 feet. Then my toe caught
the water and I went face first into the wake of the boat. As I swam up to the surface of the water i
started laughing uncontrollably, I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to inhale water. When I
reached to surface my lungs were burning, it felt like I had gone without air for hours. The boat circled
back around and a lot of my friends were doing the same thing I was doing. Through the laughing and
the that was awesome dude I became addicted to trying new things and taking risks. I began to try
more and more, than, an opportunity came up to do a 13 day hiking trip in the very small town of
cimarron new mexico at the foothills of the rocky mountains, I definitely took the chance to do that.
Through all of the money I spent on gear and all of the training I put in so I would survive the trip was
definitely worth it. Prior to this trip I never would have thought it possible for me to climb an actual
mountain. Looking over the world at over 12,000 ft is the most exhilarating experience I have had the

Why I Am Researching A Construction Worker
Kyle Smith
Mrs. Lozares
English II
15 February 2017
Construction Worker 1.The career that I am researching is a construction worker. I am interested in
this occupation because ever since I was a little kid, construction seemed like it would be something
that might be fun. It also would be cool to see a building slowly rise, or even fall. That is why I am
researching a construction worker. 2.There are many responsibilities for this career. Those
responsibilities consist of building, demolishing, cleaning an area for preparation of building
something. You may also be digging holes or operating heavy machinery on this job. Some of the
large machinery or tools that construction workers use are saws, drills, blowtorches and jackhammers.

(3M.com).
9.There could be some specific abilities that can help you in this occupation. One of them could
possibly be strength. This could be a quality that could help you because of the things you would have
to lift on the job such as bags of concrete, or maybe some stones that need to be clear in order to start
building. Another quality could be the knowledge to save money. There are positions for construction
workers that are meant specifically to help the company that you are working for to save money. If
you know ways to get around expensive things and get supplies or anything else that could be costly,
then this would be a good position to have that knowledge. The ability to drive heavy machinery in
this occupation would be extremely important for this occupation. The reason it would be so important
for this type of career is because there is a lot of need for vehicles like this. These vehicles are used for
all sorts of things in construction from digging holes, dumping dirt, transporting rocks or dirt to or
from the construction site, and even pouring concrete. These are a few of the specific abilities that
could help me on the job.
11.There are some limiting factors that go with being a construction worker. The first one is that there
could be some long hours. Depending on how many workers, the project, and the weather, there could
be some quite long hours involved in this type of job. Another limiting factor is the chance of a
disease. There are many

Example Of Observational Learning
The topic that I chose for this week is observational learning. Observational learning is learning by
others and imitating their behavior (Griggs, 2009, p. xx). Observational learning can help us when we
want to learn how to play sports, drive a car, or even learn to write letters. There are numerous things
we can acquire through observational learning. Many of us watched our mother and grandmother
bake, or even just cook when we were younger. We picked up many of the things that they did, this is
another example of observational learning.
We also learn attitudes and behaviors through observational learning. There are good models of
behavior. Models such as how to act appropriately in certain situations. On the other hand, there are
bad models. Those little negative traits, and habits we pick up from watching others. Often times we
hear people say: He/she did not have proper home training. This comes from ... Show more content on

If you have ever made a face at an infant and watched them try to imitate it, this is the observational
process at work. The same with a toddler who sees his parents folding laundry. Later the child will
grab some clothes and pretend to be folding them. A young boy watches another boy on the
playground get in trouble for hitting another child. He learns from observing this interaction that he
should not hit others (Cherry, 2016).
There are several factors that influence observational learning. They are attention: The person must
have their focus directed at the model. Retention: The observer must be able to code, and store
patterns so the data can be retrieved. Motor reproduction: Kinesthetic and neuromuscular patterns are
practiced with successive iterations until the model s behavior is approximated by the observer (
Albert Bandura Observational Learning, 2016). Lastly reinforcement and incentives: These send the
learner in the direction of wanting to pay attention, retain, and recall the action in

The Game Of Soccer Essay
Description Soccer is a sport played with two teams of eleven players on a rectangular grass field with
a ball and typically lasts 90 minutes. The players wear shorts, a short sleeved jersey, shin guards, long
socks, and cleats. Of the eleven players, one is a goalkeeper and the remaining players are either
playing defense, midfield, or forward. The goalkeeper s objective is to stop the ball from going into
his or her team s goal. The other players, using only their feet, must dribble and pass the ball in order
to move it up the field and attempt to place the ball in the opposing team s goal. In the middle of both
short ends of the field, there is a goal, one belonging to each team.(Swanson) The objective of each
team is to place the ball in the goal of the opposing team to get a point. The team with the most points
at the end of the game wins. History There is evidence tracing soccer back to 2000 BC. At this time,
the game was played by the Romans, Greeks, and Chinese. A leather ball was being dribbled and
kicked in a small net or passed between two people. (History) The game of soccer arrived in England
during the medieval times. During this time, the objective of the game was to move the ball to a
specific spot. Violent strategies such as punching, kicking, and biting were used to slow down the
opposing team. Violent incidents during a soccer match were common. King Edward III of England
and King James I of Scotland banned soccer in 1365 and 1424 respectively due

Legality of the Threat or Use of Nuclear Weapons , Advisory Opinion, was first brought to the

Grade Up
Hey Ben, have you seen this? my dad exclaimed. Oh shoot, what could it be this time, I considered? I
hoped that it wouldn t be a bad grade, because I had not done anything yesterday and the days before,
as I had been practicing hard for a game against our rival school. Hopefully it could have been
something a kid in his class from Harvard had made, like last week when someone had made an toy
car that ran on carbon dioxide. Seen what Dad? I stammered. Just come down here! he shouted.

When the bell rang I bolted out of science and sprinted across the broken pavement, brushing past
many students. When I got inside, I went through my study guide multiple times, until Ms. Baker, my
teacher, told us to put away our study guides and bring out a pencil. She passed out the test, and with a
groan I saw how thick it was. I opened it and it there were 50 questions! Immediately, I got stumped
on the first question. And then the fifth one. And the seventh, tenth, nineteenth, which were all about
some crazy kid name Bill trying to figure out which bike tire was the best for the price. When I finally
was finished with the test, there was 2 minutes left in the period. I reluctantly dropped my paper into
the scanner, my hand sweaty from nervousness. Slowly I opened my eyes.
No I whispered to myself. I had gotten a B , which I doubted would have raised my grade up to a C or
above, which is what I needed to be able to shoot some hoops again. But at least I didn t get a C or
lower, which would have surely dropped my grade to an F, and make me in a bigger hole than I was

Processing A Deer Research Paper
Processing a deer takes many steps and many tools to complete including: cutting, taking hide off, and
deboning. There are about two different types of tools it takes to process a deer and they are a knifes

time and patience. If the deer hunter did not take his time and have patience then the meat the hunter is
trying to preserve then it would not be correctly processed. If the deer is not correctly preserved then
the deer would not have as much meat the hunter would like to have. Before the hunter skins a deer
the hunter needs to properly field dress that deer by taking all of its insides out and cleaning that

Function Of A Value Of X Essay
Up to now if I gave you an equation, and asked you to solve it for x you would be, in general, looking
for a value of x which solved the equation. Given:
x^2+3x+2=0
You can solve this equation to find two values of x.
I could also give you an equation which linked x and y explicitly, and you could find a relationship
between the two which, given a value of x would give you a value of y. You ve been doing this now
for many years. Now we re going to add a hugely powerful tool to our mathematical arsenal. We re
going to allow our equations to include information about gradients of the function...let s see what this
means...
We re going to take everything that you learnt about integration and turn it into a way to model and
understand the world around us. This is a very powerful statement and indeed differential equations
are without a doubt the most powerful mathematical tool we have to understand the behaviour of
everything from fundamental particles to populations, economies, weather, flow of wealth, heat,
fluids, the motion of planets, the life of stars, the flight of an aircraft, the trajectory of a meteor, the
way a pendulum swings, the way a ponytail swings (see paper on this here), the way fish move, the
way algae grow, the way a neuron fires, the way a fire spreads...and so much more.
So what is a differential equation? It is an equation which contains one or more derivatives of a
function.
Let s look at a very simple example, of population growth. We might want to

have undergone for several centuries. This notion needs to be understood in a historical context in
order to be useful to the modern therapist providing therapeutic services and consultation to the Native
American community (Duran and Duran, 1995). For generations and till this present day, Indigenous
people of Canada have suffered historical trauma immeasurably. It consists mainly of colonization and
imposition of systems such as residential schools and reserve systems. Since the initial contact
between the European and Indigenous populace, the effects of it has been quite astounding.
Colonization has been a crucial factor in affecting mental health of aboriginal people, which has been
resisting since beginning. There is no perfect definition for colonization but other foreigners can
define it as some form of invasion, dispossession and subjugation of a people s. It is the process of
capturing another nation s property or territory in purpose of ruling power (History of Colonization,
2012). The invasion could be any kind including a geographical intrusion in the form of agricultural,
urban or industrial encroachments etc. The large part of Canadian history is the history of colonization
of aboriginal people, which has started with the European and Aboriginal relationship (LaRocque,
n.d.). This relationship is an unfair by nature that only reimburses the

Review Of Beethoven Symphony No. 9
Ludwig van Beethoven once said, Music, in truth, is the mediator between intellectual and sensual life
. Though he and his music were from an entirely different era, both still have relevance in our lives
today. Music from the past is all around us on the radio, in commercials, and on the big screen. For
example, one of Beethoven s most famous symphonies, Symphony No. 9 , makes an appearance in
many movies. It even makes an appearance in Die Hard. Though we like to think that which is old is
obsolete, we are everyday reminded that this is not true. Symphony No. 9 , better known as Ode to Joy
, was written by Beethoven in the years 1822 to 1824. The performing forces in this piece are an
orchestra, four vocalists, and a chorus. The genre of the piece is symphony. The piece is comprised of
four movements. The first movement is in Allegro form. While the second movement is in Scherzo
form. The third movement is in Adagio form. Finally, the fourth and final movement is in Recitative
form. The key for Beethoven s ninth symphony is D minor. The tempo changes frequently throughout
Beethoven s symphony, Ode to Joy . In the first movement the tempo is allegro. During the second,
the tempo is molto vivace. In the third movement the tempo is adagio molto e cantabile. Then, in the
fourth and final movement the tempo changes a couple of times. The tempos that appear in the fourth
movement are presto; allegro molto assai (Alla marcia); andante maestoso; allegro energico,

Planned Parenthood Vs Planned Parenthood
President Trump signed an executive order on Monday, January 23, 2017 barring federal funds from
organizations that promote abortion around the world, including the International Planned Parenthood
Federation, in what activists say is the president s first major pro life action while in office
(Richardson, 2017). The Mexico City Policy known as the gag rule policy by abortion rights
organizations, is a U.S government policy blocking US federal funding for non governmental
organizations that provide abortion counselling or referrals, and advocate to decriminalize abortion or
expand abortion services. This policy dates back to the Reagan era policy and was rescinded by
President Clinton in 1993, restored by President Bush in 2001, overturned ... Show more content on

This proposal was never made formal and it seems unlikely that Planned Parenthood will accept,
despite the fact they receive $500 mill annually in Federal Funding. However, let it be noted that the
majority or almost none of the funding is used for abortions, with the majority of the money being
used to help pay for women s health services provided by the non profit. As can be seen in the Planned
Parenthood summary of service 2016 Image and 2014 Graph in the appendix, very little of Planned
Parenthood s service relate to abortions, with as little as 3% being the average over the past 3 years. In
addition the Images below, under Planned Parenthood Revenue Sources and Service Graphs, show the
Non profit receiving $528.4 million in Government funding and only 3% of services related to
abortions. If it is concluded that all the funding for abortions comes from the Government, then $15.74
million of Government money is spent on abortions. However, it is very unlikely that it all comes
from one source meaning that the amount of government money spent on abortions is much less than
$15 million. Due to the lack of funding going towards abortions, Dawn Laguens, the executive vice
president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said Let s be clear: Federal funds already
do not pay for abortions (Haberman, 2017). Overall, based on the graphs, it is quite noticeable that
Planned Parenthood s impact is not all abortions, rather abortions are a small part of Planned
Parenthood. The Non profit spends more in preventing and treating women with STDs and STIs, as
well as providing contraception methods Thus, the federal funding cut would be a horrible decision
for the U.S Government to go through with, as

Countries with high national debts and low GNP such as Mozambique experience greater difficulties
in providing the care and support to the infected and affected. HIV/AIDS results in greater number of

Life expectancy in most countries in Africa would be at least 50 years or greater but countries such as
Botswana and Namibia who boast more than 20 percent prevalence have an estimated drop between
24 42 years in life expectancy (imf.org).
Women accounted for 48 percent of all adults living with HIV worldwide and 69 percent in Sub
Saharan Africa due to their bio physiology, vulnerability to rape and assigned gender roles among
others. In Kenya HIV prevalence rates in women was at 7.7 percent compared to the 4 percent in men
(NACC, 2006: Daily Nation October12, 2006: 3). The youth are a t the greatest risk as half of the new
infections worldwide are confined to the 15 24 age group of who young women account for majority
of the infected. Around 6,000 youth become infected with HIV every day(UNAIDS, 2006). Most of
the infected die within ten years due to lack of treatment leaving behind shattered families and
crippled prospects for sustainable development (Republic of Kenya, 2005).
The number of AIDS orphans has increased since the pandemic started. In Kenya there were 39.000
orphans in 1987, 968,287 in 2001,1,780,557 in 2004 and the number of orphans in 2010 was expected
to be around 2,204,115

Comparing Two Viewpoints
We will not agree on every issue. But let us respect those differences and respect one another. Let us
recognize that we do not serve an ideology or a political party; we serve the people (Lynch).
Throughout this essay I am going to briefly discuss a multitude of controversial topics, and give
different perspectives of Conservatives, Liberals, and Libertarians. While discussing the different
viewpoints, I will maintain objectivity, and fairly discuss all party s opinions. It is important to remain
unbiased in order to relay the most accurate information. The main goal of this information is to
enlighten the reader of these differences, in order to help them decide which ideological group best fits
their standards. But before we delve into the information, it is important to note ... Show more content

In this case, there are two categories of Conservatives who support the Pro Life movement. To further
explain, the more extreme Conservatives will say that any form of killing of a fetus, even if they are
raped, should be illegal. On the other hand, less extreme Conservatives are a bit more lenient in saying
that if a woman experiences incest, rape, etc. they should be allowed to have an abortion, however, at
any other time it is considered immoral. It is to be said, though, that both types of Pro Life
Conservatives support creating some form of law against abortion. As explained by the Conservative
Liberal Coalition, Conservatives are in favor of the death penalty. They do not believe that execution
of the guilty party is considered to be, cruel and unusual , as prohibited by the 8th constitutional
amendment. They believe execution to be an appropriate punishment for deserving criminals. On the
contrary, Conservative s stance on same sex marriage is that it should exclusively be between a man
and a woman, and any other form is considered immoral. The reasoning behind this is many
Conservatives are followers of Christianity and believe it to be a

Fantasy Elements In House Taken Over By Julio Cortazar
It wouldn t do to have some poor devil decide to go in and rob the house, at that hour and with the
house taken over. (Cortazar 42). Fantasy elements like this one are widely utilized and encompassed in
the short story called House Taken Over by author, Julio Cortazar. Cortazar incorporates fantasy in
this magical realism selection into the setting and details incorporated, the way the characters act,
main events and the unimpressed tone also expresses a magical vibe. He entangles this magical theme
into the aspect of realism. Within House Taken Over there is a balanced amount of realistic and
mystical events and features.
The setting and specific details portray magical realism in this short story by Cortazar. The house in
this captivating selection is described in a realistic manner. We liked the house because, apart from its
being old and spacious (in a day where house go down for a profitable auction of their construction
materials), it kept the memories of great grandparents, our paternal grandfather, our parents and the
whole of childhood. (Cortazar 37). This explains the ancient house to be generational and pasted down
to the characters living in it now. The peculiar way the characters live in this house is where the
fantasy element begins. There is a massive oak door separating two parts of the mansion and the
characters really ever go on the other side of it. Another unusual detail in the story is the fact that they
have money piling up, from farms

Comparing Death in D.H. Lawrence s The Horse Dealer s Daughter and Katherine Mansfield s The
Garden Party
Controlling the movements of the short stories, death is a regnant theme in D.H. Lawrence s The
Horse Dealer s Daughter and Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party. Death brings forth
consciousness and it excites the need for an epiphany within the protagonists. To a lesser extent, death
creates tremors in the worlds of the antagonists. Death furthermore makes the indifferences of the
secondary characters more pronounced. Affecting the lives of the protagonists, the antagonists, and the
secondary characters of these two short stories, death plays an integral role in the themes of these
works.

Furthermore, she feels secure and invisible amongst the graves. Death does not scare Mabel; instead,
it comforts her. Attending to her mother s grave, Mabel feels immediate contact with the world of her
mother which, to her, is far more real than her life in the world of the living (2335). Rescued from the
pond by Dr. Ferguson, Mabel does not feel that her suicide attempt was foolish: It was the right thing
to do. I knew best, then (2338). Nevertheless, the immersion in the frigid waters cleansed Mabel s
soul, and she begins to feel a desperate need to be loved. Mabel asks her rescuer bluntly: Do you love
me, then? (2338). Mabel wavers in her spiritual recovery: her humble eyes of transfiguration,
triumphant in first possession (2338) quickly turn into a look of death when Ferguson hesitates to
profess his love for her (2339). In the end, when the doctor smiles at her, Mabel s eyes well up with
tears, like some slow fountain (2339) like the fountain of life. Mabel, through her brush with death, is
granted a renewal of life.
Empathetic but naïve, Laura in Mansfield s The Garden Party is not spiritually dead like Mabel, but
she reaches a new level of understanding about life through the death of Scott the carter. Laura s love

Modern City Ideal
Introduction The Modern City was shaped by industry, technologies and transportation (Barth, 1980).
The Modern City ideal was designed to grow and adjust to technological changes and the services that
were being provided. With the economic, social, political and technological trends changing rapidly
within the late twentieth century, the modern city was not prepared to handle all the major changes
that were in store. The Modern City ideal had started to unravel because of the many issues the
surrounded the economic structure as well as the way the city had developed. There were many
important things learned during this time period that helped to develop the city to what it is today.
Looking at how the Modern City became unraveled as well as the impact and consequences it has on
our cities today it is easier to see how the Modern City ideal is relevant in cities today. The Modern
City ideal is very important to examine due to the impact that it has had on the way cities have
developed and are functioning now. The unraveling of the Modern City ideal leaves many people
wondering how the city will be affected based on changes that are to come with regards to technology,
economical, social and political aspects within society. With so many changes that are eminent within
society people will be interested in watching the way that cities in the past were developed compared
to how our cities will continue to develop in the future.

Tudor Succession Problems Essays
Tudor Succession Problems
The Tudor period is unique in that it is marked by succession difficulties in every generation. The
Tudor dynasty was plagued by poor health, short lives and a shortage of male claimants to the throne.
For three successive monarchs the throne passed not from ruler to child, but from sibling to sibling
and three consecutive monarchs died childless. Henry VIII s search for a suitable male heir to his
throne had far reaching ramifications. This period is distinctive in that it would start the precedent of
determining the succession by statute in consultation with Parliament. The parliamentary enactments
and wills that he had created complicated the succession issue for future generations in the attempt to

Even if his Beaufort line could be considered for the throne, Henry s mother would be in line to
succeed before him. It was in fact remarkable that Henry VII ever succeeded to the throne and
England accepted him as king for Henry VII was a former attainted exile who did not have a strong
hereditary claim to the throne. But it was his victory at Bosworth field that brought him the throne, not
his descent; his weak hereditary claim gave his accession some semblance of legitimacy. Bosworth
helped him consolidate his dynasty for it not only eliminated some of the other principle claimants to
the English throne, it was regarded by contemporaries as an expression of divine will, as Henry would
tell parliament the true judgement of God in granting him victory over his enemy in the field. In order
to further consolidate his claim Henry married Elizabeth of York. He did so partially at the request of
Parliament, partly because he could not afford the political price of going back on his pre Bosworth
promise and most importantly to prevent anyone with ambitions for the throne from marrying
Elizabeth, who had the stronger claim. However the succession was by no means secure in Henry VII
s reign. When Henry VII s heir Prince Arthur died prematurely on April 2, 1502 Prince Henry was
only ten, and if he were not to survive there remained only his sisters Margaret and Mary. Henry VII

Kennedy s Assassination Book Report
On November 22, 1963, President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, accompanied by the First Lady, Jackie
Kennedy, traveled in a motorcade through Dallas, Texas with Governor John Connally and his wife
Nellie on a campaign trip preparing for the upcoming presidential election. Moving seamlessly
through Dealey Plaza, the limousine was suddenly fired at from a nearby warehouse shortly after
noon. Governor Connally was left wounded while President Kennedy, who was hit twice, was rushed
to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he died moments after arrival. At 2:38 P.M., Vice President
Lyndon B. Johnson took the Oath of Office on Air Force One with Jackie Kennedy by his side.
Minutes later, the plane took off for Washington, D.C. ( November 22, 1963 1, 3). Hours ... Show

Instead of looking at every single piece of evidence, conspiracy theorists choose only what they need
to back up their false claims. Ironically, the people who claim that the Warren Commission distorted
the autopsy reports, the Zapruder film, and other evidence are the same people who distort their
evidence and twist the truth to make it fit to their own theories. But conspiracy theories are never
going to cease to exist; they are obsessive fanaticisms. Furthermore, the assassination occurred 50
years ago and, still, not one word has been said or has been leaked that any mobs were involved or
that the CIA was involved in Kennedy s assassination. By now, if someone else helped Oswald, we

What Is The Quarter Horse Essay
American Quarter Horse
The Quarter horse, or the American Quarter Horse is the all American symbol in the equine world. A
remarkable animal, with an amazing history, the American Quarter Horse can easily spring roughly ¼
times faster than other horse breeds. Originally created for competing in quarter races several
centuries ago (thus the name of the breed), the Quarter Horse is one of the most complex, and beloved
horse in America, if not in the world.
Very adaptable and with a gentle, thou resistant nature, the breed gained recognition only in 1940, and
soon after, the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) was formed. Then the American Quarter
Horse Museum and the American Quarter Horse Congress were created, as follow up of the breed s
increasing popularity. Excellent for pleasure, cattle and racing, this horse has it all, so it s no wonder
that everyone loves him so much.

Quarter Horse comes from the Quarter Mile races organized by the first English colonists. ... Show

Choosing and then taking care of a horse, is no easy peasy, so before purchasing it, think wisely. You
will find lots of American Quarter Horses for sale, on websites and at different ranches, but our advice
would be to be very careful when it comes to the horse s pedigree, the show s it took part in, the farm
in which it was grown, etc. While looking for your future horse, you may see the word Appendix. An
appendix is a specimen that isn t completely purebred and is usually a crossbreed of Quarter and
Thoroughbred. These horses are considered Quarters, but they are registered in a special system which
is the Appendix. Once again, you need to decide the main reason for buying the horse, as for example,
the Appendix horses have breeding restrictions. Appendix horses are only allowed to breed with
regular numbered horses and they cannot breed with Thoroughbred or other Appendix

Observational learning is learning by others and imitating their behavior (Griggs, 2009, p. xx). Observational learning can help us when we want to learn how to play sports, drive a car, or even learn to write letters. There are numerous things we can acquire through observational learning. Many of us watched our mother and grandmother bake, or even just cook when we were younger. We picked up many of the things that they did, this is another example of observational learning. We also learn attitudes and behaviors through observational learning. There are good models of behavior. Models such as how to act appropriately in certain situations. There are several factors that influence observational learning. They are attention: The person must have their focus directed at the model. Retention: The observer must be able to code, and store patterns so the data can be retrieved. Motor reproduction: Kinesthetic and neuromuscular patterns are practiced with successive iterations until the model s behavior is approximated by the observer ( Albert Bandura Observational Learning, 2016). The players wear shorts, a short sleeved jersey, shin guards, long socks, and cleats. Of the eleven players, one is a goalkeeper and the remaining players are either playing defense, midfield, or forward. The goalkeeper s objective is to stop the ball from going into his or her team s goal. The other players, using only their feet, must dribble and pass the ball in order to move it up the field and attempt to place the ball in the opposing team s goal. In the middle of both short ends of the field, there is a goal, one belonging to each team.(Swanson) The objective of each team is to place the ball in the goal of the opposing team to get a point. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. History There is evidence tracing soccer back to 2000 BC. At this time, the game was played by the Romans, Greeks, and Chinese. I could also give you an equation which linked x and y explicitly, and you could find a relationship between the two which, given a value of x would give you a value of y. You ve been doing this now for many years. Now we re going to add a hugely powerful tool to our mathematical arsenal. We re going to allow our equations to include information about gradients of the function...let s see what this means... We re going to take everything that you learnt about integration and turn it into a way to model and understand the world around us. • 22. Review Of Beethoven Symphony No. 9 Ludwig van Beethoven once said, Music, in truth, is the mediator between intellectual and sensual life . Though he and his music were from an entirely different era, both still have relevance in our lives today. Music from the past is all around us on the radio, in commercials, and on the big screen. For example, one of Beethoven s most famous symphonies, Symphony No. 9 , makes an appearance in many movies. It even makes an appearance in Die Hard. • 23. Planned Parenthood Vs Planned Parenthood President Trump signed an executive order on Monday, January 23, 2017 barring federal funds from organizations that promote abortion around the world, including the International Planned Parenthood Federation, in what activists say is the president s first major pro life action while in office (Richardson, 2017). The Mexico City Policy known as the gag rule policy by abortion rights organizations, is a U.S government policy blocking US federal funding for non governmental organizations that provide abortion counselling or referrals, and advocate to decriminalize abortion or expand abortion services. This policy dates back to the Reagan era policy and was rescinded by President Clinton in 1993, restored by President Bush in 2001, overturned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This proposal was never made formal and it seems unlikely that Planned Parenthood will accept, despite the fact they receive $500 mill annually in Federal Funding. However, let it be noted that the majority or almost none of the funding is used for abortions, with the majority of the money being used to help pay for women s health services provided by the non profit. As can be seen in the Planned Parenthood summary of service 2016 Image and 2014 Graph in the appendix, very little of Planned Parenthood s service relate to abortions, with as little as 3% being the average over the past 3 years. In addition the Images below, under Planned Parenthood Revenue Sources and Service Graphs, show the Non profit receiving $528.4 million in Government funding and only 3% of services related to abortions. If it is concluded that all the funding for abortions comes from the Government, then $15.74 million of Government money is spent on abortions. However, it is very unlikely that it all comes from one source meaning that the amount of government money spent on abortions is much less than $15 million. Due to the lack of funding going towards abortions, Dawn Laguens, the executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said Let s be clear: Federal funds already do not pay for abortions (Haberman, 2017). Overall, based on the graphs, it is quite noticeable that Planned Parenthood s impact is not all abortions, rather abortions are a small part of Planned Parenthood. The Non profit spends more in preventing and treating women with STDs and STIs, as well as providing contraception methods Thus, the federal funding cut would be a horrible decision for the U.S Government to go through with, as ... In this case, there are two categories of Conservatives who support the Pro Life movement. To further explain, the more extreme Conservatives will say that any form of killing of a fetus, even if they are raped, should be illegal. On the other hand, less extreme Conservatives are a bit more lenient in saying that if a woman experiences incest, rape, etc. they should be allowed to have an abortion, however, at any other time it is considered immoral. It is to be said, though, that both types of Pro Life Conservatives support creating some form of law against abortion. As explained by the Conservative Liberal Coalition, Conservatives are in favor of the death penalty. They do not believe that execution of the guilty party is considered to be, cruel and unusual , as prohibited by the 8th constitutional amendment. They believe execution to be an appropriate punishment for deserving criminals. On the contrary, Conservative s stance on same sex marriage is that it should exclusively be between a man and a woman, and any other form is considered immoral. The setting and specific details portray magical realism in this short story by Cortazar. The house in this captivating selection is described in a realistic manner. We liked the house because, apart from its being old and spacious (in a day where house go down for a profitable auction of their construction materials), it kept the memories of great grandparents, our paternal grandfather, our parents and the whole of childhood. (Cortazar 37). This explains the ancient house to be generational and pasted down to the characters living in it now. The peculiar way the characters live in this house is where the fantasy element begins. There is a massive oak door separating two parts of the mansion and the characters really ever go on the other side of it. Another unusual detail in the story is the fact that they have money piling up, from farms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tudor dynasty was plagued by poor health, short lives and a shortage of male claimants to the throne. For three successive monarchs the throne passed not from ruler to child, but from sibling to sibling and three consecutive monarchs died childless. Henry VIII s search for a suitable male heir to his throne had far reaching ramifications. This period is distinctive in that it would start the precedent of determining the succession by statute in consultation with Parliament. The parliamentary enactments and wills that he had created complicated the succession issue for future generations in the attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if his Beaufort line could be considered for the throne, Henry s mother would be in line to succeed before him. It was in fact remarkable that Henry VII ever succeeded to the throne and England accepted him as king for Henry VII was a former attainted exile who did not have a strong hereditary claim to the throne. But it was his victory at Bosworth field that brought him the throne, not his descent; his weak hereditary claim gave his accession some semblance of legitimacy. Bosworth helped him consolidate his dynasty for it not only eliminated some of the other principle claimants to the English throne, it was regarded by contemporaries as an expression of divine will, as Henry would tell parliament the true judgement of God in granting him victory over his enemy in the field. In order to further consolidate his claim Henry married Elizabeth of York. He did so partially at the request of Parliament, partly because he could not afford the political price of going back on his pre Bosworth promise and most importantly to prevent anyone with ambitions for the throne from marrying Elizabeth, who had the stronger claim. However the succession was by no means secure in Henry VII s reign. When Henry VII s heir Prince Arthur died prematurely on April 2, 1502 Prince Henry was only ten, and if he were not to survive there remained only his sisters Margaret and Mary.
