Ecological System Theory And Resilience Research
The ecological system theory enunciate by (Bronfenbrenner 1989), examine the interaction between
individual and their environments and the consequence effects on the individual s development
((Bronfenbrenner 1979). In a child s world comprises of mainly five system of interactions, and the
relationship between them, that include microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, macrosystem and
chronosystem. These change over the course of a child development. Microsystem is the closest
system that the adolescent lives in (Bronfenbrenner, 1979), it comprises of the design of activities,

All these share the experiencing one way or another and overcoming with positive result the situation
of adversity. The first two relate however the fact that the risk did not produce any injury while the
third approach refers to the situation where the child has been effected by trauma, in which the injury
is made (Small and Memmo, 2004). Any of these three aspects can be applied in the pursuit of the
resilience of children at risk including children who are staying in children s home settings as 1)
success by overcoming situation such as abuse, neglect, family extreme poverty, or trauma of
separation from family by institutionalization, 2) the acceptance and acceptable functioning in
institutionalization conditions, 3) recovering from injuries suffered in the family or in orphanage for

St Anthony Humility
The saints give us the greatest examples of this life of humility and what it means. In the life of St.
Antony, Christian monk from Egypt, there is a story that God, through a vision, showed him the world
with the lures and traps that Satan had prepared for human beings. After seeing this, the monk was
scared and asked God; Lord, who can escape all of these traps? Antony heard a voice saying, only he
who is humble can escape these traps, because God provides his grace to the humble and those who
are lowly and meek, but the proud always fall into Satan s traps. But, Satan does not attempt to attack
a humble man.
This story of St. Antony makes it clear that living the virtue of humility is not only a matter of
rejecting the motions of pride, selfishness and vanity, the devil s greatest allies and the sins that are the
greatest obstacle to the vocations we have received from the Lord, but living a life that sees power and
authority made perfect in weakness. (2 Cor. 12:19)
Just think about the Canaanite woman. She did not feel humiliated by Jesus comparison emphasizing
the difference between Jews and Pagans. Because she was humble, she understood her place next to
the chosen people of Israel. Her humility gave her the strength to persevere, prostrate herself and
make herself lowly and meek before Jesus even in the face of an apparent rejection. Because she
understood that power is made perfect in weakness, her humility and persistence, obtained for her and
her child a great

The Secret Service And A Protective Security Policy
Introduction
Assassination is always a serious business. It is unfamiliar to most of us who live in liberal
democracies. The Secret Service found that assassination seems clear is that, for almost all subjects,
attacks or near lethal approaches occurred after a period of downward spiral in their lives (Dedman,
1998). The most often motive that assassins gave for attacking a public figure was to achieve notoriety
or fame, and only a few wanted political change or acted in a group. Other assassins wanted to end
their pain by being imprisoned or to avenge a perceived wrong. In this article, some of the incorrect
stereotypes associated with assassins or near lethal approachers who direct their activities against
prominent public officials and public figures, and how these stereotypes can create blind spots in a
protective security policy.
Blind spots in a Protective Security Policy
Portraits of assassins are fixed in the American mind as the deranged madman, the lonely loser
obsessed with his target, the political killer following threats with violence. Dedman (1998) shows
that half of the assassins has mental illness symptoms, where many shifted from one target to another,
valuing the act more than the victim. Not one had communicated a direct threat to the target or to law
enforcement authorities.
Many studies found there was no set profile, although there were some patterns like histories of social
isolation, weapon use or harassing other people. Yakin (2011) discusses

Key Success Factors
In this assignment we introduce the idea that the organizational culture is the personality of an
organization which can be defined, measured, sustained and changed and have an important impact on
an organization s effectiveness.
We want to define organizational culture as it is presented by two theorists, indicate levels of
expressions of culture in an organization, and provide specific strategies or tools to modify
organizational culture.
We know that every individual has something that psychologists have termed personality . An
individual s personality is made up of a set of relatively permanent and stable traits. When we describe
someone as innovative, relaxed, warm or conservative, we are describing personality traits. An ...

We believe that the internal and external problems are closely interconnected and organizations must
deal with them simultaneously.
In conclusion, Schein (1992) defines the organizational culture as shared assumptions and beliefs
about the world and their place in it, the nature of time and space, human nature, and human
relationships. Organizational culture have distinct dimensions that can be defined and measured. This
is important to know in order to develop and use change strategies of the culture.
Ott s definition of the organizational cultureOn the other hand Ott (1989), in The Organizational
Culture Perspective describe organizational culture as a social constructed, unseen, and unobservable
force behind organizational activities. Organizational culture is a social energy that moves
organizational members to act and unifying theme that provides meaning and direction to and
mobilizes the members. It functions as an organizational control mechanism, informally approving or
prohibiting behaviors (Lawson and Shen, 1998).
In short, organizational culture is a hypothetical construct that must be inferred from the share
thoughts, feelings, values, and actions of organizational members.

Lecture 5 Articles vs Constitution
The Articles of Confederation constructed a national government that had military power, elected
officials, power to declare war, and even the power to manage indian relations. It took many
complaints, and conflicts to ratify the Articles of Confederation. It has a certain structure, and many
weaknesses. On the other hand, the Constitution was also opposed, but accepted as well, and it is
ratified. A federal constitution was first proposed on June 12, 1176, when the Second Continental
Congress called for a thirteen man committee to draw it. It became known as the articles of
confederation the following November, and was turned in to the states for its approval. John
Dickinson was the main contributor to the Articles of confederation. He called it a League of
Friendship .The Articles took 5 years to get approved by all 13 states, and were ratified until March 1,
1781. The length taken to ratify the Articles was seen as a lack in common unity. There was complaint
that states with land could use their tracts to pay money for common cause. It seemed logical that the
western area be given to the central government to get rid of land for common benefit . There was a
problem with landed estates, which had land west of the Appalachians, and the landless states, which
boundaries were defined. It became an even bigger problem with the proclamation line of 1763. The
landless states said that land that was debated about should be shared by all

Argumentative Essay On The Black Mirror
The stand alone series Black Mirror , features an episode titled Nosedive directed by Joe Wright. In
the show, a seemingly ideal woman named Lacie Pound lives in a status obsessed world, and struggles
to express herself. At first, Lacie is described as this merry, popular, and fun person to be around. But
then we see that Lacie tries to fit in with everybody else, and struggles with that objective. So she
begins to have courage in herself to say and do whatever she wants, even if society disagrees with her
defiance. In the end, Lacie is finally able to find her voice and express her individuality, even though
ultimately she is put behind bars. Therefore, Joe Wright suggests that even though social hierarchy is
valued in society, it does not promote one s self expression or individuality. In other words, Nosedive
displays the negative impact of social standings on people who are not a true fit with what society
views as perfect.
At the start of the episode, we take a glimpse of where Lacie lives. The beautiful topiary of the trees,
clean roads and sidewalks, all picture perfect. The scene later changes to Lacie interacting with her
brother Ryan, who is described as an apathetic gamer that consumes himself in his game instead of his
social status. Lacie s relationship with Ryan is a seemingly normal brother sister correlation,
sometimes bitterness and harsh words, but they also care for one another. She does seem like the ideal
sister and even an ideal person to be

Medicinal Effects Of Mushrooms And Their Metabolites Essay
Mushrooms were known and consumed as food in ceremonies as far back as prehistoric times.
Throughout the history, mushrooms were used in different cultures for their medicinal and tonic
properties (Gunde Cimerman, 1999). The longest tradition of using edible mushrooms for medicinal
purposes is in China. Mushrooms represent a major and as yet largely untapped source of powerful
new pharmaceutical products. The most significant medicinal effect of mushrooms and their
metabolites that attracted the attention of the public in the recent years is their antitumour property.
Many pharmaceutical substances with potent and unique properties were isolated from mushrooms
and distributed worldwide. Many of them are not strictly pharmaceutical products but represent the
novel class of dietary supplements of approximately 10,000 known species of mushrooms, 2000 are
safe and 300 have significant pharmacological properties (Hobbs, 1995, Miles and Chang, 1997).
Mushrooms are nutritional functional food and as a source of physiologically beneficial and nontoxic
medicines. They have been reported to have significant pharmacological effects or physiological
properties such as bio regulation, maintenance of homeostasis, regulation of biorhythm, cure of
various diseases, and prevention and improvement of life threatening diseases such as cancer, cerebral
stroke and heart disease. They have been also demonstrated to have effective substances for

How Did The Eureka Stockade Transform Australia
The Eureka Stockade/ Gold Rushes
The Eureka stockade has changed a lot of our history, life would not be the same. We have learned
everything about the stockade and the gold is still being mined to this day. The Eureka Stockade
rebellion was the first of its kinds against British authority in Australia. It was a brief bloody battle
which led to historic reforms for prospectors and government. Today, people ask what, where and
when was the Eureka stockade built, what were the main grievances of the miners, who were the main
leaders of this rebellion, account for the actual battle, what was the eventual results of this important
moment in Australia s history and finally how did the Eureka Stockade transform Australia?

The Eureka Stockade had little to do with the democracy that made the miners unware of the impact
that they would have on Australia s history. The Eureka rebellion was a rebellion in 1854, it had gold
miners in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia who revolved against the colony of the United Kingdom. The
diggers formed a Ballarat reform league, they then burnt their licences and the government sent their
troops to Ballarat. It was December 3rd Eureka lead and named for the stockade structure built by
miners during the conflict. The rebellion resulted in 27 deaths of at the least 27 people, which was
most of the rebellion.
The Eureka Stockade has eventually changed Australia s nation by its important moments in Australia
s history. Before dawn December 3rd 1854, the government troops stormed the diggers from the
Eureka Stockade. The fiery battle only lasted 20 minutes, with more than 30 men killed. The diggers

An Injustice for All in Sonata Allegro Form Wideman s quotation from Brothers and Keepers could be

explain the reason things are the way they are in life. In trying to come up with a logical answer they
dwell on it and it becomes even more confusing. Afterwards they settle upon the conclusion that
things happen for a reason and not in any kind of order. Wideman also claims that people do not have
the power to control their own destinies. They are simply a product of their own environments and the
events that make and shape them. John Edgar Wideman s Our Time is an essay ... Show more content

The epilogue helps me to kind of understand where John and Robby are coming from but still does not
justify their actions. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family member
died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a canvas paint a
picture on. After the epilogue Wideman jumps straight into an important part of the story, the death of
Robby s friend Garth in Robby s point of view. This is important because this is what sparks Robby s
behavioral changes. Then John, as an outsider looking in on the situation moves onto how he views
Robby. He understands Robby s behavior is wrong but he lets it go because of all the awful things that
Robby has gone through growing up. Wideman now finds that his mother is starting to accept that
Robby is a product of his environment and the events lead up to his wrong doings. John visits Robby
in prison and finally opens the lines of communication between each other. They decide to write a
book together but John doubted himself. John did not trust himself with Robby s story because he was
tempted to make it his own. The first story Robby talks about is his friend Gar in the hospital. Gar
seems very sick, he s stuck in a hospital bed. He was misdiagnosed by the doctors and dies because of
it. After the death of Gar, Robby turned into a hardcore gangster. He vowed to make it to the top of the

Behavior Change Tests
Introduction In the figure below, Catania and colleagues have explained the process of behavioural
change and how each step impacts the overall approach of the individual. The figure confirms all of
the steps that have been aforementioned and illustrate how the success of each step is important for
not only its completion but also the appropriate initiation of the next step (Catania et al, 1990). The
labelling refers to the recognition of the problem; the commitment to the stage of planning to resolve
the problem; and, the enactment to the action taken. In this paper we will mainly highlight how the
different behaviour change tests will impact an individual when he chooses to sustain a medium sized
company. The paper will be divided across four sections: the first will be the critical evaluation of the

The Prologue and First Scene of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet This essay will feature how
different directors put the original text of Romeo Juliet into films using their own interpretations. In
the prologue Shakespeare has given an insight into the play similar to a blurb on a book or a film
trailer. The prologue sets the scene, In fair Verona (where we lay our scene), making the play more
believable, as in Shakespeare s time scenery would have been minimal. In Elizabethan theatre the
prologue would have been there to catch the audience and tell them that the play was about to begin,
as well as including general information, two hours traffic of our stage, like how long the ... Show

Many directors have shown their interpretations of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet through both stage
and films. Two well known performances of Romeo and Juliet are by Luhrman and Zeffirelli. Baz
Luhrman is one of many directors to show their interpretations of Romeo and Juliet . Luhrman repeats
the prologue three times, in this sense he is trying to achieve the same as Shakespeare: to capture the
audience. Luhrman accomplishes this by the variety of ways in which he portrays the prologue. For
example the first showing of the prologue is a new reader on a television screen, this inclines the
audience to believe important news is coming, it also suggest tragedy. The second time the audience
view the prologue is in a selections of straight cut clips, these are out takes from newspapers, as well
as pictures of the setting and characters. It is very similar to a short film trailer and the audience can
relate to this, also as the shots are quick in concession this catches the viewers eyes. The third viewing
of the prologue is fast black and white subtitles (of the prologue) appearing on the screen, this is there
to make sure the audience got every part of the prologue and to aid understanding. In general the

Botulinum Toxin Lab Report
The botulinum toxin enters the body via the oral route in a complex enclosed by auxiliary proteins to
prevent metabolism of the toxin by endoproteases. The auxiliary proteins contain hemagglutinin (HA)
and a non toxic non hemagglutinin (NTNH) component which make up approximately 900kDa and
ensure the toxin enters the gut without being lysed by the present enzymes. The botulinum toxin in the
gut now has to enter the vascular system and does this via the process known as endocytosis and
undergoes a further process (transcytosis) to move it into the vasculature. The botulinum toxin acts on
neuron endings i.e. the neuromuscular junction and therefore needs to leave the vascular system.

toxin A and E cleave a bond in SNAP 25, but A cleaves the peptide bond between Gln197 Arg198
whilst E cleaves Arg180 Ile181. Only one peptide bond in the SNARE protein is cleaved by the
catalytic domain of the light chain, even though there may be more occurrences of the same bond
within the structure. The reason for this was speculated to be due to structural differences between the
serotypes and that the binding domain of each may be in a different position so that when the toxin
binds to its substrate it changes its orientation to cleave the peptide bond that is ideal in
correspondence with the change in orientation. The effect of the peptide bond cleavage is revealed
once an action potential reaches the neuron. An action potential at the neuron depolarises the

Why Tattoos Should Be Allowed In The Military
Tattoos are a growing trend that continues to become more popular as the years go by. However, the
trend does not stop the rules and regulations that are set in the U.S. military. The paper examines the
reasons why tattoos should be allowed in the U.S. military. The history of tattoos date back to the
pyramid times and they have also been a longstanding tradition in the military. Tattoos are a form of
art, which express a significant meaning. The artwork reflects a positive image of individuality and
self expression for people. Tattoos are a lifelong commitment. People who view the art of tattoos as
trashy can be quick to judge others who have tattoos. However, it is impossible to know the true colors
of a person based on their tattoos. As long as the tattoos are not offensive to anyone, service members
should be allowed to have them in the U.S. military. Tattoo Policies in the U.S. Military It is inevitable
that tattoos are becoming more popular as time goes by. There are more people today with tattoos than
there were years ago. Before it was only common for bikers and servicemen to have tattoos. Now it is
one of the most cultural trends out there. Some call them trashy, rebellious, and unprofessional when
others would disagree stating that they are pieces of art and beautiful. There are troops that sacrifice
their lives for our country that have been involved in many combat operations that are denied re
enlistment because of tattoos. How is this fair to the ones that

The Heroism Of The Valor Games Midwest
The Contest that was years in the making.
Unimaginable pain ran thru my hand, a few seconds later I passed out. I had been shot thru my left

many things from me. The hardest trial I would endure was to regain my range of motion and ability

It was surreal to say the least. I was completely over whelmed with emotion and fear all at the same
time. I had a little boo boo on the wrist and some of these heroes were missing limbs, or scared, would
they accept me as one of their own or would I be an outcast. Only time would tell.
The contest would last 3 days. 3 days, 3 different events, 3 locations around Chicago. I had been
training for months to compete. I would participate in the Shot Put, Archery and Powerlifting (Bench

was supposed to be for Shot Put. I was nervous, a lot of people were there all decked out in their gear
to compete, and here I was dressed like a redneck with cargo shorts, a t shirt and old tennis shoes. The
competition began, grass wet from the morning dew and rain from the previous night, and I was first.

you must try to beat the competition. It is the worst place to start. And

Designer Babies Genetics
Until a few years ago having a baby boy or a baby girl was just complete chance. Not anymore. Now
parents have the option to decide on the gender of their future baby, along with many other genetic
traits, such as eye colour, hair colour, intelligence, athletic ability and even skin tone. Designer babies
can also be made for medical reasons, by changing the genetics of a baby, diseases such as down
syndrome and turner syndrome can be prevented. A designer baby can also be made with identical
tissue to be donated to a sick sibling in need.
Before researchers were able to find a way to make this possible, they first had to understand more
about genetics. Genetics explains the process of parents passing down genes to their children, these
genes are things like hair colour, eye colour and genetic disorders. Every human has 23 pairs of
chromosomes, 43 individual, and within them is where the genes are carried, each chromosome holds
about 20,000 genes.
A chromosome is made up of genes, which is sort sections of DNA (Deoxynucleic acid) . Within the

Write An Essay On Being A Minority
What does the word minority mean to me and tell a situation in which the actions of myself or of
others toward minority? It s a scholarship that gives one thousand per semester for one year
There are many inequalities in our society based on race and ethnicity. Minority consists of group that
makes up then less than half the total population, and are treated differently based on their race and
ethnicity. Minorities are people of color, low income, and women. To be a minority means that you are
lefts with the jobs that no else wants, you have limited access to medical care, and are caught up with
stress which leads to bad addictions and poor eating habits. We have the belief that we all have an
equal opportunity in life including equal access to quality education. In schools where there is a larger
group of minorities usually get less funding for their school which does not help children reach their
full potential. Another issue that minorities encounter is that they are usually placed in the lower
paying jobs. The cost of education can be too much for a minority which usually leads them to have
lower paying jobs which stops them from pursuing a better future. I have also seen that minority
students are being underestimated because many believe they are not intelligent enough. Over the past
couple years, I ve seen that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

options of books to pick from. Growing up I never noticed that my school received a small amount of

and I was eager to play the cricket betting. After few days there was a cricket match between India and
Pakistan I decided to bet against India. At that time it was like if India wins you will get double money
and for Pakistan you will get four times the money you invest. I was having $1000, so I thought to
invest $100 i.e. I was thinking to be risk aversion rather than risk seeking because I was betting for the

Piracy in Somalia
Piracy in Somalia Somalia has been dealing with piracy for decades now. Piracy is a major problem in
today s waters, but what exactly is piracy? Piracy is the practice of attacking and robbing ships at sea.
The piracy epidemic in Somalia is not going to go away overnight. Piracy in Somalia has drastically
affected everything about the country. Piracy might now sound like a whole lot of a big deal, but the
real fact is, it is a big deal. Solving such an issue as piracy is not an easy task by any means. To solve

nations are spending billions of dollars to guard the Somali coastline and providing security to their
ships and as well as paying ransoms for their hijacked ships. The people of Somalia have been
affected greatly. Not only the people of Somalia but of other countries as well. Somali pirates are

How Does Toni Morrison Use Names In Song Of Solomon
Macon Dead, Pilate, Reba, Hagar, First Corinthians, Milkman, Circe and Guitar. Toni Morrison,
author of Song of Solomon, has a greater purpose for using these unique names. From the onset of the
novel, Morrison s use of names is significant and deliberate throughout the text. For instance, Not
Doctor Street, originally named Mains Street acknowledging the only black doctor the city allowed,
hints at the social tensions between black and white people in this society. Additionally, the name
Blood Bank was chosen to describe a rough part of the city. Morrison uses this name to expose the
differing social classes and racism that exists in the town. In addition to physical places, Morrison also
picked the names of each character intentionally. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the onset on the novel, Morrison is able associate Guitar with the theme of unattainability
through the ...contest, in a store down home in Florida (45). Guitar saw [the guitar] when [his] mother
took [him] downtown with her. [He] was just a baby...[he] cried for it, they said. And always asked
about it (45). Guitar s name originates from this very event in his childhood. In addition to that fact
that Guitar is simply unable to obtain the guitar he desires, Morrison displays the unattainability of the
guitar by explaining It was one of those things where you guess how many beans in the big glass jar
and you win a guitar (45). This game adds an additional barrier between Guitar and the guitar in the
store because it makes the guitar appear as a trophy to winning the contest. This connects to the idea
of contest and athletics as people compete with the attentions of winning or obtaining money, trophies,
or pride. Just like how the death of his own father makes him unattainable Guitar choses to go to war
with racism. Guitar notices racism present in society ...When a Negro child, negro woman, or negro
man is killed by whites and nothing is done about it by their low and their courts... (154). Guitar tries
to end racism and reach equality be joining the Seven Days Society which ...selects a similar victim at
random, and they execute him or her in a similar manner if they can (154). Morrison uses her major
theme of racism to show the significance of Guitar s name as he joins the Seven Days Society
attempting to reach justice by killing white people when they kill other black people. Morrison shows
that Guitar is fighting in an unwinnable war; Guitar keeps fighting anyways (1). Deeper in the novel,
Guitar s ...commitment to political justice goes awry: in seeking a death for Hagar s death,
presumably, Guitar sacrifices the innocent Pilate. Her

that it is the actual person in the culture writing what is going on during that time frame. The Diary of

Others were shot at the whim of the Nazis guards. Those Jews that worked had their lives spared but
were fed only enough to keep them alive. No one knows for sure how many children were killed but it
is estimated at between 1.2 and 1.5 million. The children that survived did so because they were
hidden in homes, basements and convents or lived with Christian families who concealed their
identities. By the end of the war six million Jews had been killed in one way or another inside and
outside concentration camps across Europe. Never in human history had so many been killed because
of who they were.
Jews not immediately selected for extermination faced a living death in the concentration camp, which
also included non Jewish inmates, many of them opponents of the Nazi regime. The SS, who ran the
camps, took sadistic pleasure in humiliating and brutalizing their helpless Jewish victims.

Hamlet And The Movie Hamlet
The movie Hamlet has an identical script to the play, with the little stage direction present in the play
the director of the film had to interpret what he read and create the best scene possible from his
interpretations. The effects used in the film that stemmed from the director s interpretations of the play
are zoom ins, jump cuts, flashbacks and music. The four main effects used in the film gave a stronger
idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by Claudius. During the
film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius feels when he is exposed
by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the royalty, Hamlet requests that
sixteen lines be added to the play. These added words would tell the exact way Claudius poisoned the
King and for what reason. When the actors perform the play and recites the sixteen lines, Hamlet joins
the actor on stage and begins to yell while looking directly into Claudius s eyes. As Hamlet is yelling
towards Claudius in rage he exclaims, You shall see anon how the murderer gets the love of Gonzago
s wife. While yelling towards Claudius, the camera switched between the two six times during the
span of 3 seconds. This is to allow the film audience to recognize the negative and damning effects
Hamlet s words are causing towards Claudius. As Hamlet is looking into the eyes of Claudius, Hamlet
yells the word murderer , the zoom and jump cuts are very

Mandamus proceeding by applicants for marriage license. The District Court, Hennepin County, Tom
Bergin, J., ruled that clerk of county district court was not required to issue marriage license to
applicants who were of the same sex and specifically directed that license not be issued to them, and
appeal was taken. The Supreme Court, Peterson, J., held that statute governing marriage does not
authorize marriage between persons of the same sex, and such marriages are accordingly prohibited,
and that such statute does not offend the First, Eighth, Ninth or Fourteenth Amendments to the United
States Constitution. Affirmed (Baker, 1971).
Baker v. Nelson, the beginning of the same sex debate for the next 45yr, would be used in other states
as precedent to block efforts at marriage equality. There would be many victories and some bitter
defeats for proponents of same sex marriage, but in the end, they would prevail.
In 1971, The San Francisco Chronicle declared that a gay marriage boom was under way. In the first
few years of that decade, The New York limes, Life

Facebook is a worldwide acknowledged social media service, that because of its sheer size, it
possesses the ultimate power to influence and potentially morph its user s perspectives, by simply
exposing them to biased articles, headlines and even messages, motivating them to act on what they

Manjoo s perspective on the increasingly dangerous role Facebook has when presenting news, as by
doing so the service possesses the ultimate power to shape the thoughts of its users.

In the interview conducted primarily by Peter Lloyd, there are numerous techniques used that instantly

  • 3. St Anthony Humility The saints give us the greatest examples of this life of humility and what it means. In the life of St. Antony, Christian monk from Egypt, there is a story that God, through a vision, showed him the world with the lures and traps that Satan had prepared for human beings. After seeing this, the monk was scared and asked God; Lord, who can escape all of these traps? Antony heard a voice saying, only he who is humble can escape these traps, because God provides his grace to the humble and those who are lowly and meek, but the proud always fall into Satan s traps. But, Satan does not attempt to attack a humble man. This story of St. Antony makes it clear that living the virtue of humility is not only a matter of rejecting the motions of pride, selfishness and vanity, the devil s greatest allies and the sins that are the greatest obstacle to the vocations we have received from the Lord, but living a life that sees power and authority made perfect in weakness. (2 Cor. 12:19) Just think about the Canaanite woman. She did not feel humiliated by Jesus comparison emphasizing the difference between Jews and Pagans. Because she was humble, she understood her place next to the chosen people of Israel. Her humility gave her the strength to persevere, prostrate herself and make herself lowly and meek before Jesus even in the face of an apparent rejection. Because she understood that power is made perfect in weakness, her humility and persistence, obtained for her and her child a great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Secret Service And A Protective Security Policy Introduction Assassination is always a serious business. It is unfamiliar to most of us who live in liberal democracies. The Secret Service found that assassination seems clear is that, for almost all subjects, attacks or near lethal approaches occurred after a period of downward spiral in their lives (Dedman, 1998). The most often motive that assassins gave for attacking a public figure was to achieve notoriety or fame, and only a few wanted political change or acted in a group. Other assassins wanted to end their pain by being imprisoned or to avenge a perceived wrong. In this article, some of the incorrect stereotypes associated with assassins or near lethal approachers who direct their activities against prominent public officials and public figures, and how these stereotypes can create blind spots in a protective security policy. Blind spots in a Protective Security Policy Portraits of assassins are fixed in the American mind as the deranged madman, the lonely loser obsessed with his target, the political killer following threats with violence. Dedman (1998) shows that half of the assassins has mental illness symptoms, where many shifted from one target to another, valuing the act more than the victim. Not one had communicated a direct threat to the target or to law enforcement authorities. Many studies found there was no set profile, although there were some patterns like histories of social isolation, weapon use or harassing other people. Yakin (2011) discusses ... Lecture 5 Articles vs Constitution The Articles of Confederation constructed a national government that had military power, elected officials, power to declare war, and even the power to manage indian relations. It took many complaints, and conflicts to ratify the Articles of Confederation. It has a certain structure, and many weaknesses. On the other hand, the Constitution was also opposed, but accepted as well, and it is ratified. A federal constitution was first proposed on June 12, 1176, when the Second Continental Congress called for a thirteen man committee to draw it. It became known as the articles of confederation the following November, and was turned in to the states for its approval. John Dickinson was the main contributor to the Articles of confederation. He called it a League of Friendship .The Articles took 5 years to get approved by all 13 states, and were ratified until March 1, 1781. The length taken to ratify the Articles was seen as a lack in common unity. There was complaint that states with land could use their tracts to pay money for common cause. It seemed logical that the western area be given to the central government to get rid of land for common benefit . There was a problem with landed estates, which had land west of the Appalachians, and the landless states, which boundaries were defined. It became an even bigger problem with the proclamation line of 1763. The landless states said that land that was debated about should be shared by all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Argumentative Essay On The Black Mirror The stand alone series Black Mirror , features an episode titled Nosedive directed by Joe Wright. In the show, a seemingly ideal woman named Lacie Pound lives in a status obsessed world, and struggles to express herself. At first, Lacie is described as this merry, popular, and fun person to be around. But then we see that Lacie tries to fit in with everybody else, and struggles with that objective. So she begins to have courage in herself to say and do whatever she wants, even if society disagrees with her defiance. In the end, Lacie is finally able to find her voice and express her individuality, even though ultimately she is put behind bars. Therefore, Joe Wright suggests that even though social hierarchy is valued in society, it does not promote one s self expression or individuality. In other words, Nosedive displays the negative impact of social standings on people who are not a true fit with what society views as perfect. At the start of the episode, we take a glimpse of where Lacie lives. The beautiful topiary of the trees, clean roads and sidewalks, all picture perfect. The scene later changes to Lacie interacting with her brother Ryan, who is described as an apathetic gamer that consumes himself in his game instead of his social status. Lacie s relationship with Ryan is a seemingly normal brother sister correlation, sometimes bitterness and harsh words, but they also care for one another. She does seem like the ideal sister and even an ideal person to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the history, mushrooms were used in different cultures for their medicinal and tonic properties (Gunde Cimerman, 1999). The longest tradition of using edible mushrooms for medicinal purposes is in China. Mushrooms represent a major and as yet largely untapped source of powerful new pharmaceutical products. The most significant medicinal effect of mushrooms and their metabolites that attracted the attention of the public in the recent years is their antitumour property. In trying to come up with a logical answer they dwell on it and it becomes even more confusing. Afterwards they settle upon the conclusion that things happen for a reason and not in any kind of order. Wideman also claims that people do not have the power to control their own destinies. How rediculous would it life be if every time a close friend or family member died someone would go on a crime spree. But metaphorically speaking it gives us a canvas paint a picture on. After the epilogue Wideman jumps straight into an important part of the story, the death of Robby s friend Garth in Robby s point of view. This is important because this is what sparks Robby s behavioral changes. Then John, as an outsider looking in on the situation moves onto how he views Robby. He understands Robby s behavior is wrong but he lets it go because of all the awful things that Robby has gone through growing up. Wideman now finds that his mother is starting to accept that Robby is a product of his environment and the events lead up to his wrong doings. John visits Robby in prison and finally opens the lines of communication between each other. They decide to write a book together but John doubted himself. John did not trust himself with Robby s story because he was tempted to make it his own. The first story Robby talks about is his friend Gar in the hospital. Gar seems very sick, he s stuck in a hospital bed. He was misdiagnosed by the doctors and dies because of it. After the death of Gar, Robby turned into a hardcore gangster. • 13. Behavior Change Tests Introduction In the figure below, Catania and colleagues have explained the process of behavioural change and how each step impacts the overall approach of the individual. The figure confirms all of the steps that have been aforementioned and illustrate how the success of each step is important for not only its completion but also the appropriate initiation of the next step (Catania et al, 1990). The labelling refers to the recognition of the problem; the commitment to the stage of planning to resolve the problem; and, the enactment to the action taken. In this paper we will mainly highlight how the different behaviour change tests will impact an individual when he chooses to sustain a medium sized company. The paper will be divided across four sections: the first will be the critical evaluation of the GET profile and test (attached) where the various personal traits highlighted in the results will be discussed; the second section will include the supporting evidence for assessments inclusive of universal examples; the third section will include the antecedent influences that I had, primarily, in the form of advice from my family members, that instigated the development of certain business traits in me; the fourth and final section will include the implications of these tests on my business traits. The Prologue and First Scene of William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet This essay will feature how different directors put the original text of Romeo Juliet into films using their own interpretations. The prologue sets the scene, In fair Verona (where we lay our scene), making the play more believable, as in Shakespeare s time scenery would have been minimal. Luhrman repeats the prologue three times, in this sense he is trying to achieve the same as Shakespeare: to capture the audience. Luhrman accomplishes this by the variety of ways in which he portrays the prologue. For example the first showing of the prologue is a new reader on a television screen, this inclines the audience to believe important news is coming, it also suggest tragedy. The second time the audience view the prologue is in a selections of straight cut clips, these are out takes from newspapers, as well as pictures of the setting and characters. The auxiliary proteins contain hemagglutinin (HA) and a non toxic non hemagglutinin (NTNH) component which make up approximately 900kDa and ensure the toxin enters the gut without being lysed by the present enzymes. The botulinum toxin in the gut now has to enter the vascular system and does this via the process known as endocytosis and undergoes a further process (transcytosis) to move it into the vasculature. The botulinum toxin acts on neuron endings i.e. the neuromuscular junction and therefore needs to leave the vascular system. There is little knowledge on how the toxin undergoes this ... Only one peptide bond in the SNARE protein is cleaved by the catalytic domain of the light chain, even though there may be more occurrences of the same bond within the structure. The reason for this was speculated to be due to structural differences between the serotypes and that the binding domain of each may be in a different position so that when the toxin binds to its substrate it changes its orientation to cleave the peptide bond that is ideal in correspondence with the change in orientation. The effect of the peptide bond cleavage is revealed once an action potential reaches the neuron. An action potential at the neuron depolarises the membrane and this causes an influx of Ca2+ ions in the axon. However, the trend does not stop the rules and regulations that are set in the U.S. military. The paper examines the reasons why tattoos should be allowed in the U.S. military. The history of tattoos date back to the pyramid times and they have also been a longstanding tradition in the military. Tattoos are a form of art, which express a significant meaning. The artwork reflects a positive image of individuality and self expression for people. Tattoos are a lifelong commitment. People who view the art of tattoos as trashy can be quick to judge others who have tattoos. However, it is impossible to know the true colors of a person based on their tattoos. As long as the tattoos are not offensive to anyone, service members should be allowed to have them in the U.S. military. Tattoo Policies in the U.S. Military It is inevitable that tattoos are becoming more popular as time goes by. There are more people today with tattoos than there were years ago. Before it was only common for bikers and servicemen to have tattoos. Now it is one of the most cultural trends out there. Now parents have the option to decide on the gender of their future baby, along with many other genetic traits, such as eye colour, hair colour, intelligence, athletic ability and even skin tone. Designer babies can also be made for medical reasons, by changing the genetics of a baby, diseases such as down syndrome and turner syndrome can be prevented. A designer baby can also be made with identical tissue to be donated to a sick sibling in need. Before researchers were able to find a way to make this possible, they first had to understand more about genetics. Genetics explains the process of parents passing down genes to their children, these genes are things like hair colour, eye colour and genetic disorders. Toni Morrison, author of Song of Solomon, has a greater purpose for using these unique names. From the onset of the novel, Morrison s use of names is significant and deliberate throughout the text. For instance, Not Doctor Street, originally named Mains Street acknowledging the only black doctor the city allowed, hints at the social tensions between black and white people in this society. Additionally, the name Blood Bank was chosen to describe a rough part of the city. Morrison uses this name to expose the differing social classes and racism that exists in the town. In addition to that fact that Guitar is simply unable to obtain the guitar he desires, Morrison displays the unattainability of the guitar by explaining It was one of those things where you guess how many beans in the big glass jar and you win a guitar (45). This game adds an additional barrier between Guitar and the guitar in the store because it makes the guitar appear as a trophy to winning the contest. This connects to the idea of contest and athletics as people compete with the attentions of winning or obtaining money, trophies, or pride. Hamlet And The Movie Hamlet The movie Hamlet has an identical script to the play, with the little stage direction present in the play the director of the film had to interpret what he read and create the best scene possible from his interpretations. The effects used in the film that stemmed from the director s interpretations of the play are zoom ins, jump cuts, flashbacks and music. The four main effects used in the film gave a stronger idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by Claudius. During the film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius feels when he is exposed by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the royalty, Hamlet requests that sixteen lines be added to the play. These added words would tell the exact way Claudius poisoned the King and for what reason. When the actors perform the play and recites the sixteen lines, Hamlet joins the actor on stage and begins to yell while looking directly into Claudius s eyes. As Hamlet is yelling towards Claudius in rage he exclaims, You shall see anon how the murderer gets the love of Gonzago s wife.
