Eastern Legends, Folklore Mythology
Dragons have an incredibly long history...pun intended. Unlike in western
Mythology ancient Asian dragons aren t fire breathing, princess kidnapping,
terrorizing creatures that only the bravest of knights of the round table can slay.
Nor do they eat people or attack villages and castles. In western culture the
dragon represents evil and darkness. These dragons usually have sharp teeth
muscular bodies and strong legs. They bring suffering to humankind and are a
symbol of fear and strength.
Dragons in and throughout China, as well as most places in Asia are know as
the symbol of nobility, holiness, solemness, and good fortune. ... Show more content on

Eastern and Chinese
dragons are portrayed as auspicious Creatures with magical powers. They coex
ist in heaven with the gods and when Buddhists achieve transcendence they
ascend to heaven by ridding on the back of a dragon. These dragons are be
lieved by the people to be deities. They are wise, compassionate, and watch
over the people keeping them safe.
The presence of dragons within the Chinese culture dates back thousands of
years. There is a dragon statue that was dated back to the 5th millennium BC
from the yungshao period. Chinese dragons are strongly associated with water
and in popular belief they re believed to be the rulers of moving bodies of water
such as waterfalls, rivers or seas. In the traditional Chinese believes there are
four major dragon kings which represents the four major seas; the East sea cor
responding to the East China Sea, the south sea corresponding to the South
China Sea, The west sea corresponding to the Indian Ocean and beyond, and
The North Sea corresponding to lake Baikal. Because of this association with
the seas they are seen as being in charge of water related weather phe

What Has The Industrial Revolution Improved For Modern...
What Has the Industrial Revolution Improved for Modern Civilization?
Agriculture
During the Industrial Revolution many major improvements were made to fundamental areas in
society such as agriculture, textile and metal manufacturing, transportation, economic policies, and
social structure (Montagna, The Industrial Revolution). Changes within the agriculture industry
were a central part of industrial change due to the large position that agriculture contributed to raw
materials in the textile industry. Agriculture specifically gave to the demand for products such as
wool and cotton which contributed to the production of cloth. Additionally, the advancement of
metal allowed for better farming tools which allowed for technical advancements in the way that
crops were harvested. The ultimate importance in the changes made to the agriculture industry
revolved around food availability. The changes in technology and advancements in crop rotation
made it possible to feed large populations of people. The agricultural changes provided enough food
to sustain a sufficient workforce, which additionally allowed expansion of industry and resulted in
economic expansion (Montagna, The Industrial Revolution).
The Textile Industry Hand in hand with agriculture, the textile industry grew exponentially during
this period. Prior to the Industrial Revolution, the creation of fabric occurred independently in
homes. The entire process was long and involved because the

Residential Schools Vs. Public Schools
Residential School s were introduced back in the 1870 s, they were made to change the way native
children spoke their languages and how they viewed their cultures. The residential school system in
Canada was operated by the government, where the native children were aggressively forced away
from their loved ones to participate in these schools (1000 Conversations). The government had a
concept, where they can modernize the native children, aged of three to eighteen and extinguish the
aboriginal culture. In the twentieth century the Canadian Public Schools had arrived and had
improved treatments than residential schools. In Contrast, the treatments within these schools were
both different, whereas Canadian public school students had more freedom than residential school
students because children were taken away from their families. However, the treatment in these
schools were different and some what similar. Even though Residential schools and Canadian
Public schools were similar in some form, there were numerous amounts of differences in how the
children were taught, how they were treated and how their living conditions were like throughout
these schools.
Residential schools were the one of the worst decisions the Canadian government had made. As
they planned this idea with the churches across Canada, it became unforgettable for the native
people. These schools changed the way native people lived in Canada. The children in these
schools were abused and neglected everyday

The Osi Reference Model Developed By Iso
The OSI reference model is a seven layer abstract model developed by ISO in 1984. It describes
the standards for inter computer communication that is how data flows from one computer on a
network through wires, cable and routers to another computer in another network. Each layer
provides a framework to explain specific functionalities and the interactions between network
components where the upper layers ( Application, Presentation, Session )mostly work at the
software level and the lower layers(Transport, Network, Data Link and Physical) in the hardware
and firmware levels. We will use data unit flow within the CCU network to illustrate at each
layer the association between devices and software and also the interactions of components
between the layers. Layer 1 The Physical Layer The OSI Physical layer defines electrical,
physical and procedural specifications for devices and medium ( cables, connectors, hubs,
repeaters, network interfaces cards ) responsible to transport across the network the bit stream
of data. At this layer, Data Units are called bits: Frames from the Data Link layer are encoded in
a series of electrical impulse, light or radio signal and transmitted through a media (copper, fiber
or wireless) across the network to the receiving node. It is also the job of the Physical layer to
retrieve these individual signals from the media, restore them to their bit representations, and pass
the bits up to the Data Link layer as a complete frame. CCU

The Game Of Dice
My mini classroom lesson plan on the game of Dice did not showcase any of my top five
strengths. The one strength it came close to was citizenship, teamwork, and loyalty. The game of
Dice is played with multiply people and each person had to be supportive and patient with the
person before them. When learninga gamefor the first time you want all the participants to work
together to make sure they understand the concepts and how it works. The game is played
individually, but you do have to participate in the game as a group in order to succeed. Dice is a
very strategic game and it can be played in teams. In my class presentation we played individually,
but if we had played it in groups we would have relied more on teamwork because the team... Show

was Gratitude. I am always very thankful when I receive a gift but I really do not pay close
attention to when good things happen to me. I generally shake them off and do not focus on
them. One of my five strengths that I would like to improve before my practicum starts is
fairness, equity, and justice. I want to make sure that when I walk into the classroom that I will
treat every one of my students fairly. I do not want any of the students to feel like I treat them
different than their classmate. It is hard to not have that one favourite child that you depend on
in the classroom, but I personally want to treat everyone the same. Another strength that I would
like to work on is citizenship, teamwork, and loyalty. I generally work well in groups once get to
know everybody and recognize that they are not going to judge any of the suggestions I have
towards projects. I want to learn to speak up better in my groups and share more of my own
ideas; even if they do not get used they are at least out in the open. I would like to be better at
using my voice in group settings. When I start my practicum, I need to be ready to contribute to

citizen of the United States, and a philanthropist devoted to the betterment of the world around
him, Andrew Carnegie became famous at the turn of the twentieth century and became a real life
rags to riches story. Born in Dunfermline, Scotland, on November 25, 1835, Andrew Carnegie
entered the world in poverty. The son of a hand weaver, Carnegie received his only formal
education during the short time between his birth and his move to the United States. When steam
machinery for weaving came into use, Carnegie s father sold his looms and household goods,

He established many other steel plants, and in 1892, he merged all of his interests into the
Carnegie Steel Company. This act from Carnegie is fitting with one of his most famous
quotations, Put all of your eggs in one basket, and then watch that basket. This firm became one
of the greatest industrial enterprises in America. Carnegie later sold it to J.P. Morgan s United
States Steel Corporation in 1901 for $400 million, which would be a little over $4 billion today!
After retiring, Carnegie s fortune was estimated to be as large as half a billion dollars. From that
time on, with the philosophy that the rich have a moral obligation to give away their money, he
devoted himself to philanthropy. Although ironic, this man of great fortune strongly believed in
the merits of poverty for the development of character and work ethic, and determined that
wealthy men should not leave their fortunes to their children, but should give it away, claiming

Insomnia With Short Sleep Duration And Mortality Essay
This paper will explore the study into and the results of a study into any possible connection
between insomnia with short sleep duration and mortality. The purpose of this paper is to bring
forth a better understanding of why this study was implemented and the benefits, if any, of the
results stemming from the study. We will focus on the study itself and of its participants. We will
also be providing thoughts on the study s conclusions and of any ramifications that may arise
moving forward, that this study provides. The methods that were used by the researchers were
simple in theory and in application. Bring together a group of participants, one thousand seven
hundred and forty one to be precise. Study their sleep patterns for a single night and then follow up
on said participants throughout a fourteen year span. The researchers would attempt to discover any
and all links between insomniawith short sleep duration and mortality in men and women with their
findings. In doing so, the researchers had hoped that their work would lead to a better
understanding of the necessity for the treatment of insomnia, and the need for further studies within
this field. These researchers concluded that there is a link between insomnia with short sleep
duration with mortality in men, although they were not as successful in finding a similar clear link
in women.

The Fashion Transition Of 1860
Modernity Project

Chuanming Wang
The fashion transition from 1860 to 1940
Before the middle of the century, most clothing was made at home, either by the wearer or a
family member. 75 percent of all clothing in America was homemade at the beginning of the
century. Only wealthier people could afford the services of a tailor. Then the technical advances
and the capability for mass manufacturing were making fashionable dress available to a rapidly
expanding middle class. In his well known book, Art History, Marilyn Stokstad states, Paris as the
psychological and architectural axis became the icon of the modern and the metropolitan in art.
This unprecedented display of arts drew art students, critics and collectors from every corner ...

One of Judaism s crucial values is circumcision which contradicts with the Hellenistic value that
the male body is perfect without any modifications. Because of that, Jews had to decide whether
to circumcise or participate in the sports in the public stadiums. Many anti hellenistic Jews
living in Jerusalem believed that they should be speaking Hebrew or Aramaic and not Greek.
With Hellenism, the Greek language became more prevalent and the Bible even got translated
into Greek instead of Hebrew and was called the Septuagint. Hellenizing was overall
controversial topic and each side believed their beliefs were there only beliefs. Eventually
Antiochus the Fourth begins to rule, and he is a harsh ruler who does not accept the Anti
hellenistic Jews. He transforms all the Jewish altars to Greek altars, which meant that only Greek
sacrifices could be made. The Anti hellenistic Jews grew angrier and angrier, and eventually the

much smaller force, and that was the only way they had a chance of winning the war. After two

Born Into Blindness
Judgment, reason, and clarity of perception; these are all qualities that contribute to blindness
within Jane Austen s Emma; a blindness that Austen herself feels can be avoided. This form of
blindness ultimately yields unhappiness due to an inaccurate perception of human situations and
feelings. With Emmas inability to perceive the truth and her lack of self understanding, she becomes
the victim of her own imaginative world of matchmaking and false happiness induced by Mr.
Woodhouse, her father. This inducement is caused by his angst towards marriageand constant
obsession of keeping his daughter close. Emma Woodhouse is practically born into blindness when
she is left with one parent s negative connotations toward the reality of the... Show more content on

Woodhouse still tries to earnestly dissuade her from it (315) in order to keep her blind to the real
world and to whom she must spend her life with, expecting her to reside with him. Despite the
negative response of Mr. Woodhouse, Emma basks in her self realization and eye opening feelings
and claims staying single for her father would not do...and said it must be so , referring to the
marriage (315). With this realization, Emma avoids the blindness Mr. Woodhouse still wishes to
instill upon her.
As a possibility viewed by Austen, Emma avoids further blindness through discovering true
happiness. One s happiness comes from love, obviously not the only source of true happiness, but a
prominent one. Happiness, in turn, can then release one from blindness such as Emma s. Her
realization that there had never been a time...that [Mr. Knightley s] regard for her had not been
infinitely the most dear allows her to understand she had been entirely under a delusion (278) and
had not seen clearly until now. Austen undoubtedly points out that for Emma to understand[ing],
thoroughly understand[ing] her own heart, (278) is the first step in reaching this revelation.
Furthermore, Austen states in an 1814 personal letter to her niece, Fanny Knight, nothing can be
compared to the misery of being bound without love bound to one and preferring another (Austen,
Letter, paragraph 7). In regards to Emma, this misery, or unhappiness due to blindness,

Cardiovascular Disease And Cardiovascular Diseases
According to the WHO, cardiovascular diseases have been the leading cause of death globally
claiming 17 million lives a year, more deaths than all cancer combined (Chiu and Radisic, 2013).
Cardiovascular disease is responsible for a preponderance of health problems and its impact is
expected to grow further as the population ages. In the UK, NHS spends about ВЈ7.74 billion as the
expenditure to deal with cardiovascular diseases (Barton et al., 2011). Cardiovascular disease in the
form of myocardial infarction has become the principle cause of death in developed countries,
accounting for nearly 40% of all deaths (http://www.bhf.org.uk/). Congenital heartdefects, which
occur in nearly 14 of every 1000 new born children, is another tragic fact that baffles medical
industry (http://www.heart.org/). About 61 million Americans (almost one fourth of the
population) live with cardiovascular diseases, such as coronary heart disease, congenital
cardiovascular defects, and congestive heart failure.
These stated facts very well implicate an imperative need to investigate promising alternative
treatment strategies as well preventive measures. Impairment in cardiac functions, organ (heart)
failure or trigger of compensatory mechanisms (hypertrophy, neurohumoral system activation,
autokrine, paracrine stimulation, etc) are the result of loss in cardiac myocytes predominantly due
to myocardial infarction (Zimmermann and Eschenhagen, 2003). In addition to the traditional

Clinical Reasoning Model Essay
Incorporating theory into practice is very important aspect in nursing profession. Nurses employ
analytical thinking and reasoning to evaluate health assessments and physical examinations. Core
essences of this concept include cognition, metacognition and discipline specific knowledge
(Simmons, B. 2010). The clinical reasoning model aids nurses to make clinical judgments. In the
scenario of Mrs Alice Palmer, numerous investigation where taken and due to limited information
more subjective data was needed as well as objective data had to be monitored constantly. Effective
clinical reasoning depends upon the nurse s ability to collect the right cues and to take the right
action for the right patient at the right time and for the right reason (Levett Jones, Hoffman,... Show

The application of critical thinking and clinical reasoning are crucial fundamentals in everyday
life of nurse s clinical practice. Like most skills, the more the nurses train, the more natural and
easier it becomes. Encouraging comparisons with similar presentations help learners widen their
differential diagnosis (Pinnock, R., Welch, P. 2014). Critical thinking is a purposeful, goal
directed thinking process that strives to problem solve patient care issues through the use of
clinical reasoning (Estes, M., Calleja, P., Theobald, K., Harvey, T. 2016). Clinical reasoning
whereas is a disciplined, creative and reflective approach used together with critical thinking to
establish potential strategies to assist patients in reaching their desired health goals (Estes, M.,
Calleja, P., Theobald, K., Harvey, T. 2016). Both these skills are vital and failure to grasp and
master these abilities result in adverse patient outcomes such as improper patient care, incorrect
diagnose and inappropriate treatment. In other words, critical thinking and clinical reasoning leads

In response to this, the side of Germany under control of the Soviet Union became the German
Republic of Germany, also known as West Germany. This was one of the first steps that would
divide Germany for almost 30 years.
The German Communist Party began restricting East German s ability to travel to the West in
1949 (Levy 13). Germany s Eastern government installed barbed wire and minefields fields along
the border of East and West Germany. However, Eastern Germans still found a way to escape to
the western side of Germany. The most popular way of escape was known as the five cent subway

together. For five cents, eastern Germans would take the train from East Germany to West Germany.
Then that person would slip through the border or take a plane or bus out. According to Debbie

he obviously wants to say something that pleases them since they are his audience. That makes his
evidence unreliable since he could have made that up to please the colonists who had captured him.
Next up is Sylvanus Wood who was a commonwealth of Massachusetts and gave a sworn testimony
on June 17, 1826. He Said that The officer then swung his sword, and said Lay down your arms,
you damn d rebels, or you are all dead men fire (5). He also said One member of the company
told me, many years since, that after Parker s company had dispersed, and he was at some
distance, he gave them the guts of his gun (5). Wood said that The British ordered their troops to
fire, as well as him saying that one of the colonists did in fact fire against the Regulars. This
contradicts the fact that Bateman said that none of the colonists fired at the Regulars while Wood
is saying that at least one colonists did fire upon the Regulars. It also seems a bit unreliable since
Wood s testimony was made almost 50 years later after the event took

Why Lily s Father Prevented Her From Going For Grammar...
6.I believe that Lily s father prevented her from going to grammar school for a variety of
reasons. One would be that he saw her as mainly a source of income and looked at the here and
now value of her work, rather than her getting a better job in the future. Second, he felt insulted
because his kid would get a better job than what he had and he had never had the privilege to go
to a nice school because he had been deprived of his childhood. He felt that if he couldn t have it
then she couldn t either. To a certain degree, je must ve felt jealousy and anger. His pride was
insulted because so many people forgot about him and never even gave him a chance; they just
forced him to do things and here his children were, privileged and they didn t even realize how
lucky they were.
7.The war changed the talk of the town significantly. War forces people to look death and loss in
the eye. When people look death in the eye, they often become their true selves. When they
looked around, they stopped seeing the petty lines but instead saw people as they truly were: no
better or worse than the other. They saw how similar they all were: they all had something to lose.
They all shared the same fear of death, losing their belongings, and losing one another. They were
forced to figure out the truth in things rather than the facades everyone puts up. They were united
as a country rather than separated by a religion. They stopped their judgments. The wall was still
there, but the war

The Harm in Low Carb Diets
Low carb diets are basically anti carbohydrates diets. Low carb diets make you eat fewer carbs
than most doctors would suggest. While the experts recommend that adults get about half of
their calories from carbs, low carb diet limits the eating of carb to10 percent of daily calories
consumed. Before going anti carb, lets know what they are. Carbs are very important nutrients
in food. They are the body s main energy source, supplying energy for everyday activities and
making sure everything from your muscles to brain is working properly. Not all carbs are
nutritious. Good ones are processed and are full of vitamins and minerals, for example: whole
grain pasta and bread, veggies, and fruit. Bad ones come from foods like white bread and sugary
sweets, which are full of calories and don t have a lot of nutritional value. There are many many
low carb diets. the most popular ones include Atkins, Dukan, Eco Atkins, Medifast, the Paelo and
the South beach diet. In my opinion the Atkins diet is the most popular because of it results:
Notice that the difference of time is about 3 weeks The Atkins diet is diet which cuts down

Acid Base Disturbance Report
Acid Base Disturbances is any condition which results in changes of the extracellular fluid pH from
the normal range of pH 7.35 7.45. ... Because the blood pH and the ECF pH are almost always
equivalent, disturbances of acid base homeostasis are diagnosed by measuring blood pH. When the
pH is below 7.35, the condition is called acidosis; when the pH is above 7.45, it is called alkalosis

respiratory so the imbalance or condition maybe respiratory acidosis, or respiratory alkalosis,

Identity And Identity In The Whore s Child By Richard Russo
The Whore s Child is a famous short story by Richard Russo. The story follows the life of a nun,
Sister Ursula, as she joins a college fiction writing course and begins writing her life story. As she
writes, with the help of her professor and the feedback from her class, she discovers more about
herself and the truth about her life. A key element of this story is the depth to which the characters
are explored, given the limited amount of time for characterization. A primary way to explore this
characterization is through the works of prominent identity theorists one of which being Canary et
al. This theory talks about some of the ways that identity is developed, through concepts such as
social cognition, schema, and the four cognitive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another key aspect of Canary s theory is that of the four cognitive processes stereotypes,
attributions, person perception, and interpersonal goals. According to Canary, stereotypes are
when categories are about people and are based on their group membership (Canary 114). In
Russo s story, Sister Ursula writes about how, as a child, she understood that her mother s being
a prostitute made her the whore s child, that her mother s wickedness diminished her father s
value (8). This excerpt from Sister Ursula s story establishes how the negative stereotypes around
her mother s lifestyle impacted her childhood. Even today, prostitution is considered dishonorable
in society, especially within religious circles, and thus, Sister Ursula s mother s stigma was
attached to her as a child, which caused her to be inherently disliked in the nun community. Again,
this could be a contributing factor to Sister Ursula s cold and steadfast demeanor, as she had to
grow up protecting herself from the judgmental gazes of her superiors and peers. Attributions are
the next facet of the four cognitive processes that can be seen in The Whore s Child. They are
defined as assessments of the cause of an action or behavior, (Canary 111) and can be both internal
and external. Internal meaning that the behavior is attributed to qualities such as

Cost Of College Student Analysis
The average cost of attending college at a public university is 12,796 US dollars, and a private
university is 30,367 US dollars (Green Haven Press 2009). It has always been expensive to study in
America. But why is it so? Why don t we have free colleges for the poor to attend? Some people
may qualify for higher educationyet not be able to enroll in classes due to shortage in their budget.
This is really inappropriate. The government should work on providing the adequate amount of aid
a student would need to attend college, or make higher education free as a better incentive.

As to find a perfect scholarship, a student should be a phenomenal student, with a very high GPA.
But for a regular federal Pell Grant it is usually very low, and only covers a little portion of the

Obtaining a college degree now costs 1,120 percent more than what it costed three decades ago,

How Thomas Hardy Suggests that this is a Moment of Transformation for Bathsheba Everdene
Thomas Hardy is able to suggest to us that this is a moment of transformation for Bathsheba
Everdene, due to a number of factors.
Thomas Hardy uses both the elements as well as the actions of Sergeant
Troy to help us understand the reasons behind Bathsheba s transformation and the way in which it
comes about.
Thomas Hardy uses the setting of Bathsheba and Troy s meeting to its full potential. Bathsheba
goes to meet the sergeant at the bottom of a pit, which has a saucer like shape and is naturally
formed, with a top diameter of about thirty feet . There are ferns growing all over the hills near by,

The beams of light caught from the low sunrays seem to help express the uniqueness of the
atmosphere in which Bathsheba sees
a sort of rainbow which Troy s reflecting blade makes. Troy s sword seems to be one of the main
objects which the light seems to emphasize, but is not the only one. Hardy also accentuates the
characters actions and the affect that the activities are having on them. By this I mean the way
in which Bathsheba s eyes shone with infrequent light when she was running back to meet Troy,
Hardy seems to be using the light to draw attention to the fact the Bathsheba is extremely excited
about this engagement with Troy. Later on in the chapter we are told of how she was enclosed
in a firmament of light , this seems to be exaggerating the fact that Bathsheba seems enclosed
due to the fact that Troy is springing at her from all sides of her at once possibly making her feel
trapped or victimised. The light within the chapter is also used to make the scene almost seem as
if it is part of a play on acted out on a stage. The manner in which the light highlights their heads
seems to make us think of a stage.
The idea that this chapter is in possible ways acted out as if part of a play, can be verified. The way
in which Troy seems to acting out a

Feminist Analysis Of Medea
Classical Greek society placed great emphasis on it citizens fulfilling their social and moral
obligations on the principle of sophrosyne, that is finding the balance between their reason and
passions. Controversially, the eponymous protagonist in Euripides tragedy, Medea, challenges all
beliefs of balance seeking instead to exact her retribution on Jason. In the process, Euripides
explores the characters rationalisations and motives behind their decisions and its repercussions.
Jason leaves Medea for fortune and prestige ultimately being the catalyst behind Medea s
determination to seek vengeance. In doing so, Jason describes her as a lioness not a woman,
highlighting the potential forces that women are capable of unleashing, accentuating... Show more

After Medea is betrayed, she epitomises perfectly the proverbial woman scorned determined to
ensure a bloodbath as she sinks into abysmal hopelessness and despair. At each stage of her
scheme, Medea exercises careful judgement, knowing exactly what to say at the right time to the
right person. She is able to manipulate Creon, Aegus and ultimately Jason to formulate
circumstances and opportunities to seek retribution and to reciprocate the injustices that befall her.
Medea s meticulously cunning revenge, cursing her children of a bewitched mother is judiciously
complemented by a pathological lack of remorse for her husband and children. Although the
ancient and modern audience may agree in Jason deserving punishment to some extent, it is
Medea s act of infanticide is where the line is drawn. However, in leaving Medea unpunished,
Euripides disposes the traditional theatrical rational resolution for the villain but instead invokes a
masterstroke of divine intervention using the device deus ex machina allowing her to have good
fortune and help from Helios and divine protection on her side. This not only leaves the ancient
and modern audience querying at society s obsession with morality in the face of such an abjectly
irrational denouement but simultaneously forces the audience to question their own sense
perception and justice. Medea s actions are Dionysian guided. Her emotions are liberated,
shattering all sense of society s moral boundaries that confines her. The dichotomy between a
lioness and a woman aims to highlight Medea as a powerful and regal creature. As a lioness, she is
able to truly be a mistress of the systematic dysfunctional Greek society that subjugates its

The Importance Of Sin In The Inferno By Dante Alighieri
For centuries, sin has been a struggle in each individual s daily life. From the beginning of time,
Satan has lured people to commit sins straying them away from God. As sins can become
addictive, people crave the feeling of the satisfaction from committing wrong doings. Every day
humans consciously commit sins like lust, gluttony, violence, greed, and hypocrisy. Hypocrites
are people that do not practice the type of lifestyle they tell others to practice. The sin that
humans struggle with the most in The Inferno by Dante Alighieri is hypocrisy because human
beings hold other people to higher standards, are ashamed of their ways, and seek to impress
others. Human beings are prone to hold loved ones to higher standards, leading to the sin of
hypocrisy. Though hypocrisy is wrong, in many situations, hypocrites believes that they are
lying to others in order to better improve another person s life. Many adults are hypocrites
towards their children because they want better for them. For example, if a mother of a teenage
son is addicted to smoking cigarettes, the mother would commit hypocrisy if she told the son
not to smoke them. Though morally it is right for the mother to look out for her son and make
sure he is safe, the practice of the mother telling her son to not smoke like she does would still be
considered a sin according to Dante in The Inferno. Professional researchers have determined
that power makes people stricter in moral judgment of others while being less strict of their own
behavior ( If Power Corrupts Are the Powerful Absolutely Hypocritical ). It is difficult for people
to lead the same kind of life they want others to lead. People tend to want to give good advice to
strengthen loved ones rather than be truthful or not say anything at all. Humans psychologically
have a hard time accepting their bad habits, and therefore choose to ignore them, not being truthful
with themselves, God, and those surrounding them. Hypocrisy is a common sin among people
because people are ashamed of their poor ways in life. It is known that humans become anxious
about their reputation and social status in public. For reputations determine people s friends, jobs,
and quality of life. Peoples lives tend to

Investigating Flat Planes
Turns out there is a fairly straight forward way to prove conclusively that we do not live on a flat
plane. Simply pick a line of longitude (along which everyone will experience high noon at the
same time, doesn t have to be one perfect line of latitude but each person should measure at high
noon on the same day) and measure the length of the suns shadow at several points of latitude from
directly under the sun to as far North as you can (must have at least one measurement that is above
75В°).
Requirements For Experiment
All the sticks should, of course, be very close to exactly the same length (recommend 2 to 5
meters). I used 5 meters in my example, taller is better.
The sticks should be placed absolutely plumb (straight up and down). They cannot lean in any
direction.

And now all you have to do is personally verify that this calculator gives you fairly accurate results
for the shadow lengths (I have) and you can be certain that the plane of the Earth simply cannot be
flat.
ON A FLAT PLANE
Now let s compare the expected values above with those on a flat plane, which turns out to be
trivial mathematically we don t even need a calculator. We just need to calculate the following:
slope = (distance to sun / distance to stick) length of shadow = (height of stick / slope)
To get this formula we just have to think about two right triangles, using the slope of the first one to
figure out the length of the adjacent side of the second one (height/slope).
Our first right triangle is the one from a point directly under the sun at the top of our stick, over
to our next stick, say at 10В° latitude, which is 1109472m for every 10В°s latitude and then up to
the sun, finally back down to where we started. Let s assume the sun is ~4000 miles away or

Years later, I was at an amusement park on a school field trip on one of the hottest days of the
year. In fact, it was so hot that I guess a lot of rocks had the same idea. It was so crowded that I
could barely roll a centimeter. At that moment, I realized that I had gotten separated from my
class! I hurried to look around, but I could barely move past the packed crowd of rocks in front
of the most popular ride. Stones pushed and pressed against one another trying to get on the ride.
I soon forgot about my class and pressed against the crowd in my effort to get in line. I waited in
the packed crowd in an unbearable heat for thousands of years. By the time it was my turn, I had
become a Metamorphic rock to my surprise.
If you became a Metamorphic rock again, then how are you an Igneous right now? asked Pebble.
Well I have changed hundreds of times over the years, it s called the rock cycle. This is just my
current form but it can change when you least expect it.
Do you think I m going to change too!? demanded Pebble.
Of course you will, it all depends on the conditions you re under. replied grandma

CafГ© D. Pownd Case Study
Introduction
CafГ© D. Pownd is newly opened residence cafeteria in the Cambridge Hall, which was opened
from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday. It serves 550 residents from both Cambridge Hall
and Nottingham Hall by providing hot meals, beverages, salads, desserts, snacks and sandwiches.
Its peak hours are 5pm to 6:30 pm everyday which makes the heaviest crowds. The majority of the
customers paid with campus wide electronic payment system.
Problem Statement
Customers are complaining about the waiting time is too long. This could a threat to the cafeteria
because if they could not successfully decrease the waiting time, customers would switch to other
alternatives. Another critical consideration to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And their major limitation is that they have limited space for lines. Precooked, interactive cooking
counter and payment counter are their lines, and they also have salad bars and drink area. Not only
the layout needs to be re designed, other issues also need to be solved. 1. It needs to solve the
staffing problems. They should arrange more staff in the interactive cooking during the peak
hours, and arrange less staff for the precooked counter, which means it, could be a self serve
section. They can consider issuing numbers to their customers for the interactive cooking line to
allow a quicker order. 2. They should also set up the broadcast to inform customers to collect the
food after taking the order and then customers can go to salad, drink area and payment line. This
needs them to create a separate area for the collection at the end of the interactive line. 3. By using
the new POS system, they can improve their daily deal prices, and gathering feedback from
customers about their food and services.
There are some uncertainties for the implementation for this case. For one thing, we don t know
any information about their housing service providers such as their contract terms and daily
assured sales. For the other thing, we don t know the arrival patterns of customers. Whether they
are released from class at the same time or some seasonal specials to attract more customers.

Narrative Essay About Running Record
I am exhausted. I have worked with a group of teachers today who hate using running records. I
know what my kids can and can not do , they exclaimed. Why does the district have us doing all of
this silliness? , they continued. As soon as we begin the running record process; mindsets begin to
change. I sit on one end of the table and the classroom teacher sits on the other side. Our model

The teacher begins the running record protocol as the other educators observe the process. Our star
student waits patiently for his turn at being the center of attention. The teacher places the sample

Why Did Phoenicians Spread Across The Mediterranean
The Phoenicians spread across the Mediterranean using this knowledge. First in Cyprus and then
Northern Africa, Western Sicily, the islands of Corsica and Sardinia and Southern France, they
spread across the sea looking for new people to trade with always setting up trade posts in the
cities they found spread across the region, as their interaction with the city grew over time and in
turn their influence till eventually these cities became Phoenician colonies through immersion as
most of these colonies had evidence of occupation before the arrival of the Phoenicians. Many
believe that their ability to start expanding across the Mediterranean ties with the alliance between
King Hiram of Tyre and King Solomon of Israel, as gaining an ally that... Show more content on

As such the trade cities were either founded around natural harbors or bays such as in the cities of
Palermo, Soluntum, MГЎlaga, CГЎrtama and Tangier to name a few . This allowed for the ships
to come right up against the city to be loaded up with goods that would be either brought back to
Phoenicia or traded to other peoples, it also allowed them to easily defend their ships as any
enemy by land would have to get through the city set up around it and by sea would have to sail
just as close to the shore to deal any damage to the Phoenician ships . The next type of place is a
headland that jutted out into the sea where ships could be harbored on either side such as the
cities of Nora and Tharros on Sardinia, Marsala on Sicily and Mogador in Morocco . Again, this set
up allows for the ships to be defended as by land the enemy would have to travel all the way up to
the headland and by sea any ship would have to face defenses placed at the top of the headland.
Now the last three cities are special cases as they are setup a little differently but all follow the
two categories as stated above. The city of Motya on the Western tip of Sicily is set up on the
island now known as San Pantaleo, however it is in the middle of a natural lagoon and is
protected from the sea by Isola Grande

Fanny Mendelssohn Research Paper
Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn were
both female composers during a time when female composers were not well supported. Their
musical ventures play a large role in the development of female musicians in history. However,
despite their similarities, Clara and Fanny both experienced different experiences as female
musicians of the nineteenth century.
Clara Schumann Clara was exposed to music at a young age. She was fortunate to have a
musically gifted father, who was known to be an excellent piano teacher. She studied piano under

Fanny was the oldest born out of four siblings, one including the well known composer Felix
Mendelssohn. Both Felix and Fanny received their earliest music education from their mother,
Lea, who taught them piano. However, Fanny continued her music education into her teen years
when she began to study theory and composition. In 1820, Fanny enrolled at the Berlin Sing
Akademie. While studying there, it is believed that she composed about 500 works. In 1829,
Fanny married the painter Wilhelm Hensel. Fanny was exposed to the oppression of females
during this time period. Her father seemed to follow social influences and believed that she
should not be able to publish her works. Felix also followed the same opinion as their father,
discouraging Fanny from publishing. Her music was only ever published under her brothers
name it is believed that many of the compositions credited to Felix were actually written by
Fanny (Kimber 113). After her marriage to Hensel, Fanny began holding a salon: a regular
gathering of friends and invited guests (Burkholder, Grout, and Pasilca 620). Fanny rarely
performed publicly; the majority of her performing was done in private. Wilhelm encouraged
Fanny to publish her works; he was supportive of his wife s ability to create beautiful music.
Unfortunately, an unexpected stroke took Fanny s life. It was not until recently that her music was

Hitler And Antisemitism
The experience of the war, economic crisis and the discontent caused by the conditions of the
Treaty of Versailles created a favourable condition for a rise of utopian revolutionary movements
such as Fascism in Italy and National Socialism in Germany. By placing the regeneration of the
nation as one of their main objectives, they provided a dream of recreating a sense of community
among the members of their nations whilst providing a sense of security through national myths
and symbols, which left little or no room for those who were different. According to Mosse, war
had transformed politics into a drama built upon shared emotions , and racism, thus, all too easily
provided unity to this drama . Yet, the leaders of those movements, Hitler,... Show more content on

However, united by the same goals, the two regimes expressed different understanding and use of
the main concepts of race and its relation to politics. Whereas the political domain in Germany was
formed on the basis of racial thinking immediately after Hitler came to power, for Mussolini the
racial laws were introduced later as a tool to give fascism a new dynamic. Racism represented the
most radical initiative of the fascist project of remaking Italians as a way of regenerating the
Italian nation. Although the racial law of fascist regime was based on Nuremberg laws, the racial
thinking has been fused from the imperial policy on conquest of Ethiopia. In Italy, the racial law
allowed to model new national identity by clearing it from foreign elements which were regarded
as degenerative and having negative influence on the nation. Similarly, for Nazi Germany the desire
to bring the nation to a common awareness of its ethnic and political unity required a common
enemy in a face of the Jews. Thus Jews symbolised many things the Nazi wanted to destroy
within the german society in order to achieve its resurrection. But none of it would have been
possible if German policies would not have received a broad support in the Nazi party and and the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cancer Patients
1.Introduction:
The numbers of people who are dying due to crucial diseases such as cancer have increased,
according to world health organization (WHO) cited in Jane et al (2008), in
2005, 7.6 million people died from cancer, a figure expected to increase to 9 million people by
2015 , and increasing further to 11.4 million dying in 2030. Therefore, scientists have attempted to
find appropriate solution for those problems. Since the nineteenth century, solutions have been
introduced by scientists, that use radiation for the diagnosis of diseases instead of surgery (Pope,
1999), which has led to great
advances in medicine because diagnostic technology such as CT and X rays scanning, nuclear

interactions are in two main different ways:if ionizing radiationdirectly interacts,it is

uncharged particle (Knoll, 2010).
2.1.1 Charged particle: This type interacts directly with matter, which can be
generatedfrom fast electrons such as Beta particles or from heavy charged particle
such as; alpha particle.
Beta particle:Most radioactive nucleuses are not stable. Therefore, they start
emitting radiation to be stable, Beta particle is of the type radiation (Graham et al,2012).
This is emitted by radioactive nucleus, the atomic mass number of radioactive nucleus
decreases by one .On the other hand ,atomic number remain the same. It can be seen
from the equation:
(_Z^A)X→(_Z+1^A)Y+β^ ................. (Knoll, 2010)
Thus, z= is atomic mass number of radioactive nucleus
A= Atomic number
X= is radioactive nucleus before emitting
Y= Radioactive nucleus after emitting
Secondly: Alphaparticle produces from the same way of Beta particle; how

It was deemed necessary for human advancement in terms of improvement in institutions, standard
of living, health care, education and the way forward in society. In other words it can be regarded
as a social empowerment to prepare government policies in the emerging societies. According to
Alan Thomas, development is seen as an historical era attesting for social changes which has
transformed society over a long period. He also made mention that development is a deliberate
intent for progress through government, its agencies, social movements and other organizations
(Thomas, 1992). Development is evident in society when there is a marked increase in economic
growth, prosperity among individuals, modernized infrastructure and an increase in educational
standards. Educational opportunities are of vital importance in any society as it enhances and
produces individuals of intellectual personalities who in turn build the society from their brilliant
ideas. On the other hand, lack of educational standard leads to criminal behaviours, hence, a decline
in development. Adapting to technological advancement and engaging in an active civil society
helps in fostering development. Civil society plays an integral role in society s development as they

Agriculture During the Industrial Revolution many major improvements were made to fundamental areas in society such as agriculture, textile and metal manufacturing, transportation, economic policies, and social structure (Montagna, The Industrial Revolution). Changes within the agriculture industry were a central part of industrial change due to the large position that agriculture contributed to raw materials in the textile industry. Agriculture specifically gave to the demand for products such as wool and cotton which contributed to the production of cloth. Additionally, the advancement of metal allowed for better farming tools which allowed for technical advancements in the way that crops were harvested. The ultimate importance in the changes made to the agriculture industry revolved around food availability. The changes in technology and advancements in crop rotation made it possible to feed large populations of people. The agricultural changes provided enough food to sustain a sufficient workforce, which additionally allowed expansion of industry and resulted in economic expansion (Montagna, The Industrial Revolution). Public Schools Residential School s were introduced back in the 1870 s, they were made to change the way native children spoke their languages and how they viewed their cultures. The residential school system in Canada was operated by the government, where the native children were aggressively forced away from their loved ones to participate in these schools (1000 Conversations). The government had a concept, where they can modernize the native children, aged of three to eighteen and extinguish the aboriginal culture. In the twentieth century the Canadian Public Schools had arrived and had improved treatments than residential schools. In Contrast, the treatments within these schools were both different, whereas Canadian public school students had more freedom than residential school students because children were taken away from their families. However, the treatment in these schools were different and some what similar. Even though Residential schools and Canadian Public schools were similar in some form, there were numerous amounts of differences in how the children were taught, how they were treated and how their living conditions were like throughout these schools. Residential schools were the one of the worst decisions the Canadian government had made. As they planned this idea with the churches across Canada, it became unforgettable for the native people. • 6. The Osi Reference Model Developed By Iso The OSI reference model is a seven layer abstract model developed by ISO in 1984. It describes the standards for inter computer communication that is how data flows from one computer on a network through wires, cable and routers to another computer in another network. Each layer provides a framework to explain specific functionalities and the interactions between network components where the upper layers ( Application, Presentation, Session )mostly work at the software level and the lower layers(Transport, Network, Data Link and Physical) in the hardware and firmware levels. We will use data unit flow within the CCU network to illustrate at each layer the association between devices and software and also the interactions of components between the layers. Layer 1 The Physical Layer The OSI Physical layer defines electrical, physical and procedural specifications for devices and medium ( cables, connectors, hubs, repeaters, network interfaces cards ) responsible to transport across the network the bit stream of data. At this layer, Data Units are called bits: Frames from the Data Link layer are encoded in a series of electrical impulse, light or radio signal and transmitted through a media (copper, fiber or wireless) across the network to the receiving node. It is also the job of the Physical layer to retrieve these individual signals from the media, restore them to their bit representations, and pass the bits up to the Data Link layer as a complete frame. One of my five strengths that I would like to improve before my practicum starts is fairness, equity, and justice. I want to make sure that when I walk into the classroom that I will treat every one of my students fairly. I do not want any of the students to feel like I treat them different than their classmate. Andrew Carnegie Research Paper Andrew Carnegie Essay written by aliciareagan@neo.tamu.edu A man of Scotland, a distinguished citizen of the United States, and a philanthropist devoted to the betterment of the world around him, Andrew Carnegie became famous at the turn of the twentieth century and became a real life rags to riches story. Born in Dunfermline, Scotland, on November 25, 1835, Andrew Carnegie entered the world in poverty. The son of a hand weaver, Carnegie received his only formal education during the short time between his birth and his move to the United States. When steam machinery for weaving came into use, Carnegie s father sold his looms and household goods, sailing to America with his wife and two sons. At this time, Andrew was twelve, and his... This act from Carnegie is fitting with one of his most famous quotations, Put all of your eggs in one basket, and then watch that basket. This firm became one of the greatest industrial enterprises in America. Carnegie later sold it to J.P. Morgan s United States Steel Corporation in 1901 for $400 million, which would be a little over $4 billion today! After retiring, Carnegie s fortune was estimated to be as large as half a billion dollars. From that time on, with the philosophy that the rich have a moral obligation to give away their money, he devoted himself to philanthropy. Although ironic, this man of great fortune strongly believed in the merits of poverty for the development of character and work ethic, and determined that wealthy men should not leave their fortunes to their children, but should give it away, claiming The man who dies thus rich, dies disgraced. The picture of community service, Carnegie is quoted as saying, Pittsburgh entered the core of my heart when I was a boy, and cannot be torn out. I can never be one hair s breadth less loyal to her, or less anxious to help her in any way, than I have been since I could help anything. My treasure is still with you, and how best to serve Pittsburgh is the question which occurs to me almost every day of my life. Colonel James Anderson, who Carnegie ... Born Into Blindness Judgment, reason, and clarity of perception; these are all qualities that contribute to blindness within Jane Austen s Emma; a blindness that Austen herself feels can be avoided. This form of blindness ultimately yields unhappiness due to an inaccurate perception of human situations and feelings. With Emmas inability to perceive the truth and her lack of self understanding, she becomes the victim of her own imaginative world of matchmaking and false happiness induced by Mr. Woodhouse, her father. This inducement is caused by his angst towards marriageand constant obsession of keeping his daughter close. With this realization, Emma avoids the blindness Mr. Woodhouse still wishes to instill upon her. As a possibility viewed by Austen, Emma avoids further blindness through discovering true happiness. One s happiness comes from love, obviously not the only source of true happiness, but a prominent one. Happiness, in turn, can then release one from blindness such as Emma s. Her realization that there had never been a time...that [Mr. Knightley s] regard for her had not been infinitely the most dear allows her to understand she had been entirely under a delusion (278) and had not seen clearly until now. Austen undoubtedly points out that for Emma to understand[ing], thoroughly understand[ing] her own heart, (278) is the first step in reaching this revelation. Furthermore, Austen states in an 1814 personal letter to her niece, Fanny Knight, nothing can be compared to the misery of being bound without love bound to one and preferring another (Austen, Letter, paragraph 7). Cardiovascular Disease And Cardiovascular Diseases According to the WHO, cardiovascular diseases have been the leading cause of death globally claiming 17 million lives a year, more deaths than all cancer combined (Chiu and Radisic, 2013). Cardiovascular disease is responsible for a preponderance of health problems and its impact is expected to grow further as the population ages. This was one of the first steps that would divide Germany for almost 30 years. The German Communist Party began restricting East German s ability to travel to the West in 1949 (Levy 13). Germany s Eastern government installed barbed wire and minefields fields along the border of East and West Germany. However, Eastern Germans still found a way to escape to the western side of Germany. The most popular way of escape was known as the five cent subway ride to freedom. There was a subway system in Berlin that linked it s Eastern and Western sides together. For five cents, eastern Germans would take the train from East Germany to West Germany. This completely goes against the British evidence which clearly says that they did not give the command to fire and were giving orders to not fire. Also, since he was captured by the colonists, he obviously wants to say something that pleases them since they are his audience. That makes his evidence unreliable since he could have made that up to please the colonists who had captured him. Next up is Sylvanus Wood who was a commonwealth of Massachusetts and gave a sworn testimony on June 17, 1826. One would be that he saw her as mainly a source of income and looked at the here and now value of her work, rather than her getting a better job in the future. Second, he felt insulted because his kid would get a better job than what he had and he had never had the privilege to go to a nice school because he had been deprived of his childhood. He felt that if he couldn t have it then she couldn t either. To a certain degree, je must ve felt jealousy and anger. As she writes, with the help of her professor and the feedback from her class, she discovers more about herself and the truth about her life. A key element of this story is the depth to which the characters are explored, given the limited amount of time for characterization. Another key aspect of Canary s theory is that of the four cognitive processes stereotypes, attributions, person perception, and interpersonal goals. According to Canary, stereotypes are when categories are about people and are based on their group membership (Canary 114). In Russo s story, Sister Ursula writes about how, as a child, she understood that her mother s being a prostitute made her the whore s child, that her mother s wickedness diminished her father s value (8). This excerpt from Sister Ursula s story establishes how the negative stereotypes around her mother s lifestyle impacted her childhood. Even today, prostitution is considered dishonorable in society, especially within religious circles, and thus, Sister Ursula s mother s stigma was attached to her as a child, which caused her to be inherently disliked in the nun community. Again, this could be a contributing factor to Sister Ursula s cold and steadfast demeanor, as she had to grow up protecting herself from the judgmental gazes of her superiors and peers. Attributions are the next facet of the four cognitive processes that can be seen in The Whore s Child. They are defined as assessments of the cause of an action or behavior, (Canary 111) and can be both internal and external. Internal meaning that the behavior is attributed to qualities such as ... After Medea is betrayed, she epitomises perfectly the proverbial woman scorned determined to ensure a bloodbath as she sinks into abysmal hopelessness and despair. At each stage of her scheme, Medea exercises careful judgement, knowing exactly what to say at the right time to the right person. She is able to manipulate Creon, Aegus and ultimately Jason to formulate circumstances and opportunities to seek retribution and to reciprocate the injustices that befall her. Medea s meticulously cunning revenge, cursing her children of a bewitched mother is judiciously complemented by a pathological lack of remorse for her husband and children. Although the ancient and modern audience may agree in Jason deserving punishment to some extent, it is Medea s act of infanticide is where the line is drawn. However, in leaving Medea unpunished, Euripides disposes the traditional theatrical rational resolution for the villain but instead invokes a masterstroke of divine intervention using the device deus ex machina allowing her to have good fortune and help from Helios and divine protection on her side. This not only leaves the ancient and modern audience querying at society s obsession with morality in the face of such an abjectly irrational denouement but simultaneously forces the audience to question their own sense perception and justice. • 30. The Importance Of Sin In The Inferno By Dante Alighieri For centuries, sin has been a struggle in each individual s daily life. From the beginning of time, Satan has lured people to commit sins straying them away from God. As sins can become addictive, people crave the feeling of the satisfaction from committing wrong doings. Every day humans consciously commit sins like lust, gluttony, violence, greed, and hypocrisy. Hypocrites are people that do not practice the type of lifestyle they tell others to practice. The sin that humans struggle with the most in The Inferno by Dante Alighieri is hypocrisy because human beings hold other people to higher standards, are ashamed of their ways, and seek to impress others. Human beings are prone to hold loved ones to higher standards, leading to the sin of hypocrisy. Though hypocrisy is wrong, in many situations, hypocrites believes that they are lying to others in order to better improve another person s life. Many adults are hypocrites towards their children because they want better for them. For example, if a mother of a teenage son is addicted to smoking cigarettes, the mother would commit hypocrisy if she told the son not to smoke them. Though morally it is right for the mother to look out for her son and make sure he is safe, the practice of the mother telling her son to not smoke like she does would still be considered a sin according to Dante in The Inferno. Professional researchers have determined that power makes people stricter in moral judgment of others while being less strict of their own behavior ( If Power Corrupts Are the Powerful Absolutely Hypocritical ). It is difficult for people to lead the same kind of life they want others to lead. People tend to want to give good advice to strengthen loved ones rather than be truthful or not say anything at all. Humans psychologically have a hard time accepting their bad habits, and therefore choose to ignore them, not being truthful with themselves, God, and those surrounding them. This allowed for the ships to come right up against the city to be loaded up with goods that would be either brought back to Phoenicia or traded to other peoples, it also allowed them to easily defend their ships as any enemy by land would have to get through the city set up around it and by sea would have to sail just as close to the shore to deal any damage to the Phoenician ships . The next type of place is a headland that jutted out into the sea where ships could be harbored on either side such as the cities of Nora and Tharros on Sardinia, Marsala on Sicily and Mogador in Morocco .
