Family Tree Flake Research Paper
The ability to make and use tools dates back millions of years in our family tree. Chimpanzees,
our closest living relatives, can on their own devise spear like weapons for hunting and create
specialized tool kits for foraging ants, suggesting our family tree may have possessed wooden tools
since the ancestors of humans and chimps diverged some 4 million years ago.
The dawn of stone tools dates back some 2.6 million years to Gona in Ethiopia. Known as the
Oldowan, these include not just fist sized hunks of rock for pounding, but also the first known
manufacture of stone tools sharp flakes created by knapping, or striking a hard stone against
quartz, obsidian, flint or any other rock whose flakes can hold an edge. At this time are also the
oldest known butchered animal bones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the extent of the technology for nearly a million years. It was probably very ad hoc
when you needed a stone tool and you didn t have one, just made one, then dropped it, said
paleoanthropologist Thomas Wynn at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Such technology is just slightly past the range of what apes generally do, Wynn added. Indeed,
chimpanzees in the wild can use stones as simple tools for hammering, and the chimpanzee like
bonobo ape can even be taught how to flake stone to make cutting tools. These don t seem to
represent any great intellectual leap, he

Apush Sample Narrative Essay
APUSH PROMPT I m Afghan, and me and my siblings are first generation born in America. I do
not pass as white, and neither do any of my family members. We have dark hair, olive toned
skin, and are all very hairy. Every single one of us. Knowing I look different than my peers has
contributed to a feeling of otherness whenever I m around my friends who do look traditionally
white. It s an uneasy feeling that is hard to push away and always lingers. However, I haven t
always felt like this. When I was in kindergarden I was a big fan of skirts. I wore them all the
time. One time, i was sitting down when we had some free time and I remember looking at my
bare legs. At the time, It took me a moment to realize my legs looked very different from the...

She was my dad s mom, and we used to call her Bebe Hajji as a sign of respect for a elders who has
completed a pilgrimage to Mecca. Bebe Hajji passed away from gallbladder cancer, and it was a
very surreal time in not only my life, but my family s as well. I don t actually remember that
much about her before she was admitted to the hospital, only when she was. I remember what
she looked like, I remember what her lap felt like when she d hold me, but I do not remember
her voice. When she was in the hospital I never quite grasped what was going on, I knew she
was dying, but i dont think i ever knew what death was. After her funeral I was sad, but i kept
waitin for the other shoe o drop. I didn t know how to grieve, I was nine, I went back to school
and i didn t cry when i told other people what happened, and i didn t cry at her memorial. As i ve
gotten older, it s stuck with me more and more. When I was in middle school i felt exponential
guilt, about my lack of tears when i was younger. I felt like I hadn t lover her enough and as a
result been unable to grieve. As I ve gotten older I ve realized people deal with death differently,
and to be fair, I was nine. This year, I decided to join the wrestling team. I am a very unskilled
wrestler. I m not saying this to tear myself, it s just true. However, I do love the sport, and would
like to continue wrestling throughout High School. When I first joined, I was unable to take down
a single boy on my team. Not even a single one. By the end of the season, the boy who I had been
unable to pin once the first month I was able to pin half the times we wrestled by that last month.
This was a lesson in hard work, and the fact that I am able to beat up boys (and girls). Those two

Religion And Spirituality On The United States Of America...
Religion and spirituality have been complex issues in the United States of America. This is
especially true when it comes to Native Americans. Since the 16th century, contact between
Native Americans and Europeans has been filled with both good and bad. In this paper, the issue
of religion and spirituality and how they figure into the story of Indian European contact between
the 16th and 21st centuries will be discussed. The people of the Eastern Woodlands held beliefs
about the human, natural, and supernatural worlds. The people believed that there was no line
between the human and natural worlds. In some languages, animals were referred to as people.
Humans were referred to as extra people, or people people. They also believed there was no line
between the natural and supernatural worlds. They also had in their beliefs the idea of manitou.
Manitou roughly translates to spirit in English. They believed there was manitou in everything in
the human, natural, and supernatural worlds. They believed there was power in the natural world
itself. In a reading done in class, Farmers of the Woodlands, written by Peter Nabokov and Dean
Snow, there is discussion of the religious and spiritual beliefs of the people who lived in the
Eastern Woodlands. For the Penobscot bands, they had the spiritual belief of totems. These totems
were animals. They believed the totems were the ancestors to the people of the band. These totems
linked them to the lands they lived, hunted, and fished

The Value Of The Credits
The credits are not provided in a lump sum but instead are claimed in equal amounts over a 10
year credit period (many projects claim credits over 11 years, due to the rules governing how
many credits can be claimed in the first year of the credit period). Thus, the $70,000 of annual
credits described in the illustration will yield a total of $700,000 of credits over the credit
period. Three examples of LIHTC properties in Chicago are Jade Gardens, East Park SRO, and
Riverside. Jade Garden is three 3 story apartment buildings with a total of 72 units that was
placed in service in 1996. The project cost about $7.4 million and received $2.7 million in tax
credits allocated at about $500,000 per year. The project received $.54 in tax credits per every
dollar used in the project. East Park SRO cost about $7.1 million and has 152 units that were
placed in service in 1995. This project received $2.9 million in tax credits which is about $.53 on
every dollar. Lastly, Riverside has 258 units and was put in service in 2007. This project cost
about $33.7 million and received about $11.3 million in tax credits which is $.94 on every dollar.
These projects are examples of how tax credits are encouraging developers to create housing for low
income families. These homes are very modern and blend easily with the surrounding communities.
Future studies should compare militaryhousing model and public housing to determine which is
more successful and why. Although

Mobileye
Mobil Eye Case A) Mobileye, founded by Amnon Shashua and Ziv Aviram, is a company leading
the market in technologically advanced software algorithms, system on chips, and applications
customized to extensively process visual information for the use of advanced driver assistance
systems, or ADAS. Mobileye is the market leader for ADAS because of its unmatched customer
value proposition, or CVP; focusing on continuously improving safety, avoiding accidents, and
saving lives in an increasingly affordable way. This value the customer receives comes from the
applications that increase the safety in vehicles such as warnings for lane departure and forward
collision, autonomous emergency braking, and many other active safety features. These... Show

This vehicle requires no steering wheel, gas, or brake pedals, and already has 500,000 miles of
test driving. It includes an advanced linar, light detection and ranging, sensor system for
developing detailed maps of roads it has traveled on. Google s disadvantages as a competitor all
stream from the outrageous cost of its self driving car prototype, which is $170,000. Shashua and
Aviram do not believe it could be commercialized at such a price. Also, the mapping system would
involve an immense amount of driving and is extremely unrealistic on a global scale. There is also
a possibility of road construction, changing roads and highways making the memory saved in the
systems inaccurate for the mapping system used by Google. In addition, Shashua and Aviram
believe that it is not to Google s advantage to attempt such huge leaps into the future so soon.
Lastly, the other potential competition that could challenge Mobileye would be OmniVision. This
company develops digital imaging solutions for a multitude of markets besides automotive,
including entertainment, medical imaging, PC cameras, mobile phones, and security and
surveillance. OmniVision has technology such as a 360 degree view, lane change detection, and
autonomous driving. The technology used in those various devices could be applied to visual
processing for ADAS s, along with radar and lidar. An advantage OmniVision possesses is that it

ВЁUNI has knocked off the #1 North Carolina Tar Heels!ВЁ Gary Rima

I have been a UNI men s basketball fan for a long time, and I had been waiting forever for this
basketball game to happen. It was the UNI Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels game. The reason
Northern Iowa scheduled this matchup was because North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige was
supposed to play, but he suffered from a broken bone injury in his hand so he couldn t play. Marcus
Paige played for Linn Mar High School with his teammate, Matt Bohannon, who is UNI Panther
player. ВЁSo anything could happen, right? I asked my dad, ВЁDad, do you think UNI is going to

Liberal Arts Should Be Taught In College Essay
What is Being Taught in College?
What should colleges be teaching, is a question that many people are wanting an answer to. Should
colleges be teaching students liberal arts or should they just let liberal arts classes slip away? This
a controversy between students on every college campus. It is important to the students, because
they want what is best for themselves during college. I believe that students need to be taught
liberal arts to help better their learning abilities. In my own experience, I have learned that liberal
arts classes may be frustrating, but in the long run they have really helped to develop a better grasp
on general education. Liberal arts classes are a good way to begin college, instead of just jumping
right in to a major.
Colleges should teach liberal arts because they help students develop better learning skills. ... Show

Students will still learn the same way, whether there are a lot of students or a little. Smaller class
size do not make a student perform better, that is up to the student, not the class size. Students
can learn in any type of environment; class size does not matter when it comes to a students
learning ability. Learning is not about where the knowledge is learned, it is about how it is
learned and if a student is willing to learn it. Some might also oppose that colleges should not
make students take liberal arts classes. Liberal arts classes do not always help a student develop
better learning skills. Some liberal arts classes are not even relevant to a students major. Having
to take classes that are not relevant to a student can be overwhelming and frustrating for them. It
is too expensive for them to have to pay for classes that are not relevant to their major. Students
should be able to choose what classes they want to enroll in and how they want to do it. In all

The Quarrel Between Poetry And Philosophy In Republic
The Quarrel Between Poetry and Philosophy in Republic

Starting from Plato, the quarrel between poetry and philosophy has been through almost the entire
history of western thoughts. By combing the viewpoints of Socrates, the protagonist of Plato s

poetry will also be included.

High School to NBA: Good or Bad?
Mel Plantenga
College Composition P.4/5
March 6, 2013
Some of the greatest stars in the NBA were drafted straight out of high school. Lebron James,
Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard are just a few examples. Even though, as of 2006, the NBA
eligibility rule states that a player entering the NBA draft must be at least nineteen years old and a
year removed from high school, it is still a huge debate in the sports world of whether or not this
rule is the right choice. Before the rule was set in place, NBA commissioner David Stern said, We
have the right to set an age limit in the collective bargaining agreement. I believe we can work
together to come up with something that is legally correct and will ... Show more content on

If the rule were to be changed to require two years of college, the players would be much more
experienced and would create a stronger group of rookies each year for the NBA. Imagine a
young man, straight out of high school, with dreams of playing in the NBA. What if he was one
of the four players who, between 1975 and 2001, declared for the draft straight out of high
school never made it to the NBA (Should high school players be eligible). What are his options
after that? Sure, he could always go to college, but what if he never applied to one? Another
option is to play in a European league, but how is an eighteen or nineteen year old expected to
live on his own in a whole new country? This is just one downfall to being able to enter the draft
straight out of high school. While many are successful, the young men who are not may be
forced to give up their dream and must make serious life decisions to move forward. For this
reason alone, the rule should stay the same to allow players to mature before they are able to enter
the draft. The year of college basketball played is monumental in the maturation of young players
directly out of high school. High school basketball is clearly a much different game than what is
played in the NBA; the pace is slower and the plays are far less complex. With this said, only few
players are able to adapt to the fast pace of the NBA straight out of high school. For the majority
of the players unable to do so, their

Stereotypes Of Beef Cattle
Bovine Get Stressed Too Stress? Cattle? Do they not just lie around and chew their cud? The
stereotype of lazy cows soaking up the sun perhaps is far stretched. Cattle are associated with
this stereotype because it is what people see. An average citizen s only interactions with cattle are
seeing them in the field grazing; however a farmer understands to keep his profit and cattle
healthy he must reduce stress. A farmer understands his cattle and knows that a routine is
necessary to keep stress to a rare occurrence. Factors that play into cattle stress involve even a
small change to the routine such as a dog wandering around the pen. The cow becomes spooked,

Contrasting from humans under stress cattle eat less and less putting on less weight and in
many cases losing weight. Beef cattle brought to a processing plant are graded on carcass value
including marbling, rib eye area, and overall appearance of the meat on the rail. A producer gets
the profit based on the evaluation grade on the individual calf. The FAO states, It is necessary
for animals to be stress and injury free during operations prior to slaughter, so as not to
unnecessary deplete muscle glycogen reserves ( Effects of Stress 2). As an animal is stressed
during loading, unloading, and stunning the vital glycogen in the muscle is drastically reduced
and can disappear. Glycogen is transformed into lactic acid that works as a tenderizer and taste
influence for consumers. A producer could operate a stress free farm, however if the trip to the
processing plant is extremely stressful the whole year worth of feeding and making a calf s life
easy, is possibly a risk with the value of the carcass plummeting quickly. Although the farmer
took many of the correct steps, a small dose of stress before processing can destroy all the hard
work and leave consumers with a tough tasteless meat. In conclusion, the amount of stress on
cattle can reduce production in all aspects and ultimately leave the farmer empty handed and the
consumer can be left with rotten, tasteless food. Stress must be reduced to a minimum to bring
forth the best most profitable product. Perhaps all farmers should shoot for having cattle be that
stereotype of easily soaking up the sunshine and lying on a side hill chewing cud. What is the
cost of stress? Can the reduction of stress bring a better life to all aspects of the beef industry?
Will the reduction of stress create a better product for consumers? What is the real cost of

An Ethical Photographer Should Do For Our Last Position...
Introduction:
Kevin Carter, the south African photographer, is famous for a photograph named Struggling Girl.
In 1993, while on a trip to Sudan, Carter found a Sudanese toddler stalked by a vulture. The
vulture is waiting for the girl to die and to eat her but Carter stopped and took a picture instead of
helping the girl. Hundreds of people feel mad about the photograph because Carter only used the
girl to take photograph, and left her away. Ironically, the photograph won the Pulitzer Prizefor
Feature Photography in 1994. (1) As an ethical photographer, I believe it is unethical to take photos

Photographers is allowed to take photos for vulnerable subjects, because those photos can easily

What Are The Four Federal Safety Standards
4 Federal Safety Standards Your Company Must Follow to a Tee
The Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) employs about 2,200 safety inspectors
that oversee over 130 million workers in eight million worksites. OSHA safety inspectors are tasked
with investigating accidents, performing surprise inspections and consulting with companies to
improve safety conditions. The last thing that any company needs is a surprise inspection that
results in hefty fines and safety citations. Read below to learn about four federal safety standards
that your company must follow. https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb

According to OSHA, lack of fall protection is the most frequency cited violation. For example,
construction sites notoriously fail to provide adequate fall protection systems. As a result, this is
the leading cause of worker fatalities in the construction industry. On the other hand, any
company that requires employees to work on surfaces above six feet will be required to provide
adequate guardrail and personal fall protection systems. For example, a regular office based
business that requires maintenance personnel to fix roofing problems will be required to follow
federal fall protection standards.

every continent, country and city of the world.
Why is it that when faced with anger, we have such a strong feeling to fight back in an overly
aggressive manner. The news is full of stories about murders, kidnappings, terrorist attacks and
wars. Many people have the idea that violence is the solution to everything, when in reality it is
really the problem. But... may I remind you that violence is not necessarily inevitable. Have you
ever thought of this? There is nowhere in our biology textbooks that states that such behaviour is
innate. In fact, we do not have a DNA designated for violence. In fact, the only reasonable
argument behind the fact that many believe war is inevitable is because we have caused it to
become this way.

I come from Republican baby boomer parents, whose parents before them were Republicans and

school, discussing politics in my civics class, and being confused as to why people would get so
mad about the ideas I held as true. My parents talked about this stuff, how could what they say be
lies or arrogant responses to social issues? I soon realized through discussion with my peers that
a lot of the stuff I said I believed in I really didn t agree with and that my views were vastly
different from my parents and those before them. From there I went super radical liberal, spewing

in with my environment, or the people around me. It is, essentially, a roller coaster identity. It is
the revelation of a basic inefficacy or strain in producing an unwavering sense of self. You
mentioned that stress often causes you to be hard on yourself and others. I too suffer from being
very hard on myself, but I found that the struggle came from me trying to blend in with my
environment. As a result, I may have offered to much input into a conversation, but didn t get much
out of it at all. According to Stewart (2012), identity negotiation,

Animal Models And Clinical Trials
(WY Mak et. Al, 2014) discusses the concerns of the fact that many drugs that are successful in
animal trials are not successful in clinical trials, most specifically, drugs used in cancer treatments.
Animal models have been an important factor in the testing of a new drug before it is used in
clinical trials, but many drugs that are approved in animalmodels are not successful in human
models. It has been shown that 85% of early clinical trials for novel drugs are not successful and
from the remaining 15%, only half are approved for human use. The reason there is a difference
in results between animal models and clinical trials have to do with the inability of animals to
identically mimic human body functions. An example of a trial that had a difference in results
is the TGN1412 trial. TGN1412 was a drug used to treat diseases such as MS, rheumatoid
arthritis, and certain cancers. Before used in clinical trials, this drug was first tested in mice.
There were no complications shown in mice that would indicate complications in humans.
Humans in clinical trials were given a dose 500 times lower than the dose given to mice and it
resulted in catastrophic organ failure. Another study involving IPI 296 in patients with advanced
chondrosarcoma was ended early due to the fact that it had no effect shown in clinical trials. When
IPI 296 was used on mice, they were shown to have an increase in survival rate. This showed that
the effects of the drug on animal models was different

True Grit Coming Of Age Quotes
People do not give it credence that a fourteen year old girl could leave home and go off in the
wintertime to avenge her father s blood. (Portis 11) And many people still do not imagine that a
story like that is even close to being realistic. Even though, True Grit is fictional; it seemed real as
the reader saw Mattie Ross came of age. Coming of age is the transition from youth to adulthood.
Throughout the novel, True Grit, the protagonist, Mattie Ross, develops courage, common sense,
and bravery as she comes of age from her experience of hunting down the man who murdered her
father. The fourteen year old faced many challenges that marked the growth of her maturity.
For the duration of the novel, Mattie Ross was gaining courage as ... Show more content on

going with me. I pointed the revolver at his belly and shot him down. Over the course of this
passage, Mattie s confidence grows. She started out nervous with running into Tom Chaney but in
the discussion, she decides to shoot him. This passage shows the reader just how much Mattie has
grown. When Rooster killed Moon, Mattie was extremely uncomfortable with that death but now
she had grown to the point where she tried to murder a man. Well, it was not just a random man. It
was her father s murderer. Although this was the whole point of the journey; it still reveals
development in her character. In the beginning, she expected Rooster to shoot Tom Chaney but
now Mattie had become ready to kill her father s slaughterer. The whole novel prepared for this
moment; the moment where Mattie finally stood up to the man who single handedly blew up her
life. This passage was probably the most momentous part of the book since it was when Mattie

Essay On Static Members
Week Five Learning Journal The Ongoing Emphasis on Static Members Static, static, static; but
what does all this static mean? Re occuringly, our reading material conveys the idea of static
members. During the course of chapter five, I develop a keen understanding on how to use static
members, say variables and methods. Building static variables and methods means building class
members that hold the same values through all instances. No matter how many instances of a class
I instantiate, static members will retain the same value. This is useful for global placement of data.
Building non static variables and methods means building class members that are unique to each
instance of the class you create. Create a backbone class, which lays... Show more content on

Chapter five teaches me to instantiate variables of references of objects with the new keyword,
before trying to use my variable. How I Can Use Null Pointer Wisdom in My Own Programming
at Home Moreover, many programmers, like me, have their development cycle haulted when
the SDK or 3DEngine crashes, and all the console says is null pointer exception. From reading
chapter five, I can tell you this exception is thrown when an object referenced variable was not
instantiated. This error is simple to fix, takes initializing the troubled variable with the new
keyword and constructor of its referenced object class, and there we go. Months of questioning
and advice seeking on SDK forums can be bypassed with chapter five, when all you really need
to do is identify which variable on the call stack is causing the null pointer reference. Identify
which object reference it should have, and initialize it with the new keyword and class
constructor. Arrays of Type Object I like writing in depth learning journals, because looking
back on learning journals point out material I find especially interesting. Arrays of type object
are handy when you ve created an object class, and need to spawn an array of them. In video
game programming, often it s useful to create a bullet object, or a character object, or a
background object. Knowing Java creates array of objects help programmers rapidly spawn
multiple types of their objects. Java is one of my favorite programming

Fluoride Essay
Fluoride
Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in almost all foods and water supplies. The fluoride ion
comes from the element fluorine. Fluorine, the 13th most abundant element in the earth s crust, is
never encountered in its free state in nature. It exists only in combination with other elements as a
fluoride compound. Fluoride is effective in preventing and reversing the early signs of tooth decay.
Researchers have shown that there are several ways through which fluoride achieves its decay
preventive effects. It makes the tooth structure stronger, so teeth are more resistant to acid attacks.
Acid is formed when the bacteria in plaque break down sugars and carbohydrates from the diet.
Repeated acid attacks break down the tooth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nearly 145 million Americans are currently receiving the benefits of optimally fluoridated water.
With the 1995 enactment of Assembly
Bill 733 in California, ten states and territories in the United States now mandate fluoridation
through legislation. Besides California, these include seven other states (Connecticut, Georgia,
Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio and South Dakota), as well as the District of Columbia and
Puerto Rico. Three states (South Dakota, Rhode Island and Kentucky), as well as the District of
Columbia, have achieved the ultimate success with 100 percent of their treatable community water
systems providing the benefits of fluoridation to their citizens.
While safety has been an issue frequently raised by those opposed to fluoridation, scientific data
from peer reviewed clinical research provide overwhelming evidence that the adjustment of
fluoride levels in drinking water to the optimal level is undoubtedly safe. Hundreds of studies on
fluoride metabolism have tracked the outcomes of ingested fluoride. Ingested fluoride essentially
travels three metabolic pathways. It is either excreted by the kidneys, absorbed by the teeth or
taken up in the skeleton. At optimal levels fluoride has never been demonstrated to cause skeletal
fluorosis or other bone problems. On the contrary, there is mounting evidence that continued

The Relation of Evil and Love in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
This study will examine Emily Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights, focusing on how evil is related to
love. The study will explore the main relationship in the book, the relationship between Heathcliff
and Catherine. That relationship is full of both love and evil and will show us what happens when
evil and love become tied to one another. The first thing we need to do is define evil. It is perhaps
impossible to define love in a way, which will satisfy all of us. We will probably all agree that
love is usually an attraction between two people, which makes them feel good about themselves
and the other person and about life in general. On the other hand, the love that ... Show more content

That is what Bronte s novel shows us and reminds us about this kind of powerful, romantic love.
It does not get out of control in the case of these two lovers, and becomes evil. Heathcliff is
shown to be a dark and even hateful character the moment we meet him on the first two pages of
the book. Lockwood sees himself as a kind of kin to Heathcliff, and sees the region as a fit for heir
dark personalities. A perfect misanthropist s Heaven and Mr. Heathcliff and I are such a suitable
pair to divide the desolation between us. A capital fellow! He little imagined how my heart warmed
towards him when I beheld his black eyes withdraw so suspiciously under their brows (45).
Lockwood has no idea how much more dark and evil Heathcliff is. Heathcliff is shown to be an evil
man even before he meets Catherine, so we cannot say that he learned to be evil because of his
extreme love for Catherine. We see Heathcliff not as a loving person, not as a lover, but as a hater,
a misanthrope, or a person who hates people. This might be a clue helping us to understand the evil
part of Heathcliff s love. Perhaps a love for one person, which grows out of a hatred of all other
people, will end up being evil, sooner or later. Perhaps true love leads a person to feel warm and
loving toward all people, or most people. And perhaps a love, which is evil, is one, which comes

The Best Principles Of Persuasion
To achieve a successful business interaction, it is important to persuade the best possible manner
ever. Several researchers have studied how to persuade effectively, but the best principles of
persuasions were described by Robert Cialdini and the principles include reciprocity, scarcity,
authority, commitment and consistency, consensus and liking.
Reciprocity is the expectation of getting a return for a favor offered. This simply implies that for
everything that is given out, there is a certain expectation from the receiving end. Basically, one
can give out money and expect goods or services in return. In a business context, I might have the
mind set of making a potential customer a repeat buyer and to make that happen, I offer to help
the buyer by giving a discount. If the buyer shows appreciation and still comes back to get more of
the products, that means the favor has been reciprocated.
Scarcity is another principle of persuasion. Scarcity can be described as the rare availability of an
item. As a seller, one of the ways to persuade and make a potential buyer purchase your product is
to remind them of how rare the product is, especially if it is ... Show more content on

Exothermic Salts Lab Report
Analysis: The endothermic salts would not even function as hand warmers at all because they take
in energy from their energy in the form of heat. This means it will take heat away from whatever is
near it. That means, any hands near the endothermic salts will become colder, not warmer. The
exothermic salts, which are the salts give off energy, are LiCl, Na2CO3 and CaCl2.
The next important consideration is whether they give off enough heat to make sufficient hand
warmers. For 10 grams of the salt in 40 milliliters of water, the minimum temperature change must
at least 20 degrees celsius. As calculated above, only LiCl and CaCl2 meet the requirements.

It is very difficult to get an exact amount measured for whatever substances is being used, in

stirred the solution fully or equally, causing a dissonance in temperatures and how the energy is
distributed throughout the solution. Finally, the mass we recorded could have slight
inaccuracies due to there being a chance grains of whatever salt we were using falling onto the

Ethnic Makeup Of Los Angeles
Since 1965 many people have immigrated to the greater Los Angeles area than anywhere within the
United States. These immigrants have rapidly and profoundly transformed the city s ethnic makeup
and spared heated debate over their impact on the region. Unfortunately within many areas of Los
Angeles there are those who have been pushed out of their homes, which have been passed through
generations of ethnic minorities in other areas due to gentrification. These gentrified areas have
been renovated by the city to allow for a much more comfortable living experience. One specific
way this has happened is by allowing an ease of access to mainstream markets that provide
necessary measures for their lifestyle. However those of this community are not the only
communities that wish to adhere to this lifestyle. Many Angelinos, although living within a
community that is seen as poor and unhealthy, actually care about the food that they put within their
bodies. The resources that are readily available in the gentrified location in Los Angeles, but not to
other parts force them to eat from local markets and convenience stores close where the quality is

The Negative Effects Of Technology On Communication
Did you know that Canadians between 18 and 34 years old are spending on average 34 hours
per week on the Internet? This number is only increasing as the years go by. Around 74% of
individuals 65 and up are using the Internet regularly. This is a drastic change from 10 years ago,
as it has increased by 54% (Thomson, 2017). How have we come so far, but to feel like we aren t
going anywhere? Things need to be done if we want to see any change for the future. There is a
significant correlation between technology and communication. By addressing the negative effects
that technology has on face to face communication, how technology has changed the way we
communicate with others, and why we expect more from technology rather than with another
human being, we can better understand the many factors that we must acknowledge in order for us
to move forward.
Technology is a great distraction everywhere; whether it is at home, in the office, or when
travelling. Hundreds of thousands of people suffer injuries from accidents caused by distracted
driving involving technology. People become so distracted at work that they forget about more
pressing matters (Kazmeyer, n.d.). Technology has become an important part of the way we
communicate. It has gone so far as to take the place of face to face communication (Drago, 2015).
By addressing the negative effects that technology has on face to face communication, it is the first
step in admitting that there is something wrong with the world that

Quotes From The Jamestown S Klallam Tribe
How strong are you? One of my favorite quotes is You never know how strong you are until being
strong is the only choice you have is a quote that might connect to some more than others In all,
this quote represents struggle and the resilience someone has to possess to make it through
whatever they re going through. The Jamestown S Klallam tribe(The Strong People) originated in
1874 near the eastern end of the strait of Juan De Fuca, which is Northwestern Oregon today .The
tribe has always lived in the upper Washington area where they thrived on the agriculture and

to relocate. The tribe then moved to a new community that had all naturally resources called
Jamestown, named after James balch who was a leader within the tribe hints the renowned name.

Evidence Of Momentum Effect On The Market, Asian Markets,...
2 Evidence of Momentum Effect
The following presents the studies examined on the momentum effect in several markets. The
markets have been divided into the United States market, European market, Asian market, and
emerging market.
2.1 Portfolio formation
The most commonly used method in the literature to investigate the existence of momentum effect
was from the study by Jegadeesh and Titman (1993). In this method, the strategy was selecting
stocks based on returns in the past J months and holding them for K months (J month/K month
strategy). It was constructed as follows: At the beginning of each month t during the sample period,
stocks were ranked in ascending order based on their returns in the past J months. J was the
formation period set at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. The portfolio with the highest past returns was called
the winners decile and it contained the best 10% of the sample firms, whereas the portfolio with the
lowest pasts return was called the losers decile and it contained the worst 10% of the sample firms.
In each month t, the momentum strategy bought the winners decile and sold the losers decile, and
then held for K months. K was the holding period set at 3,6,9 and 12 months. Lastly, the strategy
closed out the position started from t K. To increase the robustness of the test, the strategy usually
included portfolios with overlapping holding periods, where in any given month t, the strategy held
a group of portfolios that were selected in the current month,

Some of the Issues Affecting the Current Marketing...
Marketing communication is mostly known as the process by which the marketer develops and
presents an appropriate set of communication stimulus to a defined target audience with the
intention of eliciting a decisive set of responses ( Yeshin, 1999). Therefore, it is the process
whereby thoughts are shared and meanings conveyed in a convincing manner by an organization to
its target audience for the patronage of their product and services over their competitors with the
use of the promotional mix.
In other for an organizations product and services to sell, the organization needs to develop an

Media Fragmentation
The integrated marketing communication media are fragmented, making it more difficult to
communicate a message clearly. This is because, consumers are bombarded by thousands of pieces
of information each and everyday, not having a consistent message makes communicating with the
consumers even more difficult.
Cables, satellite and digital television provide media buyers with an increasing and complex range
of opportunities and the internet which is part of the new media presents challenges for all

for safety reasons. Still a plan, especially a good crisis plan, should be implemented to be able to
handle any sorts of problems. Manufacturer companies also need to be ready to communicate the
stakeholders and let them know that they come first. However, when a plan is not firmly
established or is completely ignored, the company can jeopardize not only their reputation, but
also loose financially, the way Firestone/Bridgestone and Ford Company had to undergo. The
Firestone Complete Auto Care is a company that produces and supplies pneumatic tires for
various modes of wheeled transportation and they sold the company to Bridgestone Corporation.
Nonetheless, a crisis transpired, where 6.5 million Firestone brand tires were recalled in response
to complaints the tires may be linked to fatal crashes (www.money.cnn.com, August 2000). These
tires were manufactured and placed on Ford vehicles. According to Simison et al. (August 2000),
the Firestone brands affected are certain 15 inch Radial ATX and Radial ATX II tires produced in
North America and Certain Wilderness AT Tires with product code P235/75R15 there were
manufactured at Firestone s Decatur, IL., plant. The majority of the tires were mounted as original
equipment on Ford Explorers and other Ford light trucks. The problem is that the

1900 1910
At the beginning of the 20th century a New York editorialist wrote that the 20th century began in
the United States with a sense of euphoria and self satisfaction, a sure feeling that America is the
envy of the world (World History Timeline 1900 1901 ). The president was Teddy Roosevelt
, who
enjoyed enormous popularity due to the general happiness of the American people. A thriving
industry created many jobs for immigrants and others. A monumental event took place in 1901
when the New York Stock Exchangeexceeded 2 million shares for the first time ever (World History
Timeline 1900 1901 ). The tycoon J.P. Morgan created the U.S. Steel Co. in 1901, which became
the first billion dollar corporation in the world (Historical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 1900 there was the Boxer Rebellion in which anti foreigner Boxers occupied Beijing.
International force eventually ended the violent siege (Historical Daily Almanac 1900 ). Another
major world event during the decade was the Russo Japanese War. The two countries battled over
the control of Manchuria and Korea, and the Russians were forced to surrender (Historical Daily
Almanac 1905 ). Also around the globe, in the field of psychology, the great Sigmund Freud wrote
a book called The Interpretation of Dreams (Magill 14). This book documented Freud s theory that
dreams are meaningful and can be understood. Another great mind of that era was Albert Einstein.
He came up with his theory of relativity in 1905(Magill 19).
Great artists of the world were also creating some of their most brilliant work during this decade.
Henri Matisse fought to find the artistic freedom he needed by creating the Fauvist movement in
the early 1900 s(Pioch 2). Fauvism led to the larger movement called Expressionism, a term used
to describe any art that raises subjective feelings above objective observations (Pioch 4). Georges
Rouault was another pioneer of the Expressionist movement; he was a Frenchman who linked the
decorative effects of Fauvism in France with the symbolic color of German Expressionism (Pioch
6). Another leading artist of the time period was Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, a German who wanted his
art to be a bridge to the future (Pioch 6). These men were very important artists, but

How Music Processes Benefit America s Market
Music has been evolving and developing for thousands of years. Each generation has been
engaging in union with instruments and song to express sorrow, joy, heartbreak, life, death, love
and so on. As music has grown and become more popular, more ways to listen to it have been
introduced. Besides live music, the best way to listen to any artist is through a cassette tape.
Cassette tapes show beneficial purposes in economics in areas such as marketing, entertainment
and the music industry. Cassettes have been benefiting America s market because people have
been buying them for decades. The first cassette tape to ever be produced was in 1962 in
Germany and was later introduced to America in 1966. Reaching its peak in 1990, over
442,000,000 cassettes were sold in the US alone; this even exceeded the amount of records that
were also being sold. When a product is selling at such a high rate, workers are needed to make
the music, put together the tapes or sell them in the stores. Not only was music made on them,
but blank ones were sold as well so buyers could put together their own mix for themselves, a
friend or someone special. Cassettes benefitted the marketplace because millions of US dollars
were made from them and although they are not as popular today, they are still an economic
business from which the US makes money off of.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In today s time, they are cheap, usually in good condition, vintage and still popular. Because
cassette players are hunky, walkmans are a good way to listen to music on the go. Although
phones are also easy to use for music, tapes give one a vintage vibe wherever they are. The music
usually doesn t have the best quality that society has today, but that makes it even cooler to use.
Overall, cassettes are beneficial towards people today in that they are a reminder of how far music
has come and they are a simple way to enjoy music wherever one

The Duchess Of Malfi Sexism Essay
Much like the real world, the Duchess in The Duchess of Malfi is subject to a plurality of sexist
expectations. This is at the core of The Duchess of Malfi part scathing critique on sexism, part
satire of the social hierarchy in the Renaissance era, part exploration of complicated inter family
gender politics it explores almost every facet of genderpolitics in the bourgeoisie class. Throughout
The Duchess of Malfi, John Webster employs symbolic imagery to explore gender politics in
Europe the expectation placed on the Duchess to not re marry after her husband s death, Ferdinand
s need to control her sexuality, and their eventual deaths are all comments on Webster s issues with
the patriarchy in mid century Europe. The Duchess s introduction... Show more content on

This includes the dagger scene mentioned earlier, as well as some other handouts acts to make
sure their sister doesn t remarry. This includes hiring a spy to watch her, forcing her to leave her
children as they flee the country, and then the eventual sororicide. The majority of Act IV details
the torture and eventual murder of the Duchess; from making her kiss the severed hand of a dead
man, to making convincing mannequins of her children and lover to terrorize her Ferdinand and his
posse stop at nothing to truly break down the Duchess. Again, this seems like another comment
from Webster on the patriarchy: here are men trying to break down a woman for disobeying their
orders by taking the expectations that they had of her and showing her the result of
disobedience. There s many examples of this behavior throughout history, but none as grotesque
(and startlingly recent) as to that of Prosper Ortega; a Georgia mom who s husband tortured her
for days in 2006 in front of their infant daughter drugging her so she was weak; blinded her;
deprived her of nourishment; deafened her so she wouldn t hear her fifteen day old daughters
screams; cut off her hair so that she wouldn t be attractive to other men this need to control a
woman s sexuality is pervasive not only in The Duchess of Malfi but in the modern world as

DISH Network is always searching for ways to remain a successful and competitive company in

commercial spaces have become areas for multifunction activities. Along with the availability of

occurred from an empty table in the center of the cafГ©. I felt at ease in this setting, as there

neighboring customers who were about to get comfortable in their seats. A young man sitting

The Spectrophotometer Determinationof Iron in Teff
Introduction The research question is: the spectrophotometer determination of iron in teff and a
measure of the bio availability to suggest ways in which bio availability or absorption is increased
and consequently anemia decreased.
Iron is one of the most important elements that is needed by different living organisms. One of its
functions is to control cell growth and aid in differentiation of cells. However, one of its most
important responsibilities is found in hemoglobin. which is involved in allowing oxygen transport
in portions of the blood. Iron is available in two oxidation states: Fe2+ and Fe3+. The one that is
readily absorbed in the human body is Fe2+. Thus in this extended essay, I will focus on the
concentration of Fe2+ in four cereals teff, wheat, maize and sorghum. Limited amounts of
absorption of Fe2+ in the human body causes iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is
when a person has a red blood cell count that is less than normal or when there are few
hemoglobin molecules in each red blood cell. Consequences and effect of this to humans could
be fatigue, headaches, palpitations, lethargy and etc. One of the causes of iron deficiency anemia
is the bio availability of many grains and legumes. The less bio available or in other words the
less absorbed the nutrients of the cereals we eat are, the prospect of iron deficiency anemia
occurring becomes higher. I will show this need of Iron in the blood by first measuring the iron
contents of the four

China s Trade Regulation Policies
Trade regulation policies are paramount for any country to progress in today s global world. The
fast paced economic activities of the 21st century has forced numerous countries to re evaluate
their trade regulation policies, primarily based on their specialization and global niche markets.
This article will focus on two separate case studies of China and Ethiopia. Throughout this article
we will discuss the past history and prevailing trade regulation policies of these countries and how
these polices have affected the macro and micro economic operations within these countries. Trade

This means a growth in imports from nations China is already in good relation with, while on the
other hand it has raised its tariff for agricultural products and decreased its tariff for non
agricultural goods. Through this policy, China is trying to strengthen its domestic market for
agricultural goods while it is ready to rely on the international products of non agricultural nature.
Some of the non agricultural goods with decreased import tariffs include garments, footwear, and
skin care products. Import tariffs on suits and fur skin products are lowered from 14 percent to 7
percent. While China has decided to become liberal with its regulation policies, it is careful to
avoid dumping and hence may impose anti dumping policies on goods it fears would threaten
Chinese national industries. This policy is important in terms of preserving national industries and
their stability. Such a policy helps restore balance and confidence within the economy. This sense
of security will improve local performances. China is also very careful on the import of demerit
goods, such as alcohol and tobacco. Consumption tax is applied to similar products because of their
prevailing harmful effects and increased demand in the market. Consumption tax helps increase the
price and reduce market demand. China has also removed most of the quota and licensing
requirements from most of the imports. While this will increase the influx of imported goods, this

Adult Development Attachment Analysis
Adult Development Interview: Attachment Across a Life Span The notion of attachment and the
attachment theory are primarily associated to John Bowlby, who s articulation of attachment
diverged significantly from all previous theories concerning the importance of social and emotional
bonds formed by a child. The propensity to search for contact with a care giver was not a derived
from inclination, but subsisted as a primary and permanent drive (Broderick Blewitt.2015).
Essentially, the attachment theorychallenged theories of social learning, along with psychoanalysis.

Pathophysiology Of Asthma
Introduction:
Asthma comes from the Greek meaning of short of breath which the world has come to known as
asthma which is shortness of breath. Henry Hyde Salter was the first person to describe asthma in
which he stated: airways narrow due to contraction of their smooth muscle. William Osler known as
the father of medicine described asthma as a spasm of the bronchial muscles, swelling of the
bronchial mucous membrane, the special form of inflammation of the smaller bronchioles, similar
to hay fever, runs in families, begins in childhood and sometimes lasts into old age, can induce a
paroxysm. Asthma was understood about around 1980s when they figured out how the specific

The mucous metaplasia is caused by production and storage of mucins increasing in secretory
cells and club cells. MUC5B and MUC5AC are types of bronchial epithelial cells mRNA which
help mucous clearing and protect against airway infection. This has been thought to be a major
player in airway problems in asthma. IL 13 binding causes mucous metaplasia. This is caused by
the binding of IL 13 which leads to Jak kinases activation and then phosphorylation of transducer
and then STAT6. This STAT6 pathway deals with calcium activated chloride channel one which is
also known as CLCA1 and is the gene related to the airway epithelial cells. In asthma, however,
this channel doesn t function as it normal function which is an ion channel but goes through
secretion and cleavage. This channel can induce MUC5AC through MAP kinase MAPk13. The
inflammation aspect of asthma occurs from a cascade of events usually is a type 2 inflammation
dealing with types of CD4+ T cells like Th2 cells. This pathway deals with a lot of mediators that
cause inflammation, IgE, mucosal surfaces, smooth muscles, and mast cells. When the IgE is
created in the body, it is circulated through the bloodstream.

Laurence Olivier directed and starred in it himself as a patriotic call to the barricades. Olivier
greatly aspired to become one of the greatest actors of the twentieth century. His attempt in the role
of the main character Henry was nothing short of this by delivering an epic performance in the
midst of a gay, colourful depiction of battle. Kenneth Branagh s production (1989) attempted
greater realism in the battle scenes and focused more on Henry s inner conflicts. There was not
as much emphasis on the patriotic elements of the play as in Olivier s. Branagh s film was
constructed many years after Olivier s predominant original when it was considered a classic.
Olivier created a total advance in Shakespearean film and gave dawn to colour filming. A young
Branagh would have to direct and act admirably to stand alongside the preceding version. He
would have to successfully comply as a Shakespearean actor to take the familiar and make it new .
Branagh heavily scrutinised Olivier s epic work, employing and enhancing many of the methods
Olivier inspired and developed, causing Branagh s film to be labelled sometimes as an emulation.
Still there is an obvious (yet often subtle) extent to which Branagh tries

Nichols V Century West Summary
Contracts are an integral part of our everyday life and play as important role in our personal and
business lives. In order to deal effectively with promises provided in the business world, a legal
framework is needed. Basically, a contract is a promise or set of promises, for which the law
provides a remedy if a party breaches or failing to perform. In order to form a contract, four basic
elements are needed: an agreement, bargained for consideration, legal capacity to enter into the
contract and a legal purpose consistent with law and public policy. The case Michelle M. Nichols

  • 2. Family Tree Flake Research Paper The ability to make and use tools dates back millions of years in our family tree. Chimpanzees, our closest living relatives, can on their own devise spear like weapons for hunting and create specialized tool kits for foraging ants, suggesting our family tree may have possessed wooden tools since the ancestors of humans and chimps diverged some 4 million years ago. The dawn of stone tools dates back some 2.6 million years to Gona in Ethiopia. Known as the Oldowan, these include not just fist sized hunks of rock for pounding, but also the first known manufacture of stone tools sharp flakes created by knapping, or striking a hard stone against quartz, obsidian, flint or any other rock whose flakes can hold an edge. At this time are also the oldest known butchered animal bones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the extent of the technology for nearly a million years. It was probably very ad hoc when you needed a stone tool and you didn t have one, just made one, then dropped it, said paleoanthropologist Thomas Wynn at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Such technology is just slightly past the range of what apes generally do, Wynn added. Indeed, chimpanzees in the wild can use stones as simple tools for hammering, and the chimpanzee like bonobo ape can even be taught how to flake stone to make cutting tools. These don t seem to represent any great intellectual leap, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Apush Sample Narrative Essay APUSH PROMPT I m Afghan, and me and my siblings are first generation born in America. I do not pass as white, and neither do any of my family members. We have dark hair, olive toned skin, and are all very hairy. Every single one of us. Knowing I look different than my peers has contributed to a feeling of otherness whenever I m around my friends who do look traditionally white. It s an uneasy feeling that is hard to push away and always lingers. However, I haven t always felt like this. When I was in kindergarden I was a big fan of skirts. I wore them all the time. One time, i was sitting down when we had some free time and I remember looking at my bare legs. At the time, It took me a moment to realize my legs looked very different from the... I don t actually remember that much about her before she was admitted to the hospital, only when she was. I remember what she looked like, I remember what her lap felt like when she d hold me, but I do not remember her voice. When she was in the hospital I never quite grasped what was going on, I knew she was dying, but i dont think i ever knew what death was. After her funeral I was sad, but i kept waitin for the other shoe o drop. I didn t know how to grieve, I was nine, I went back to school and i didn t cry when i told other people what happened, and i didn t cry at her memorial. As i ve gotten older, it s stuck with me more and more. When I was in middle school i felt exponential guilt, about my lack of tears when i was younger. I felt like I hadn t lover her enough and as a result been unable to grieve. As I ve gotten older I ve realized people deal with death differently, and to be fair, I was nine. This year, I decided to join the wrestling team. I am a very unskilled wrestler. I m not saying this to tear myself, it s just true. However, I do love the sport, and would like to continue wrestling throughout High School. When I first joined, I was unable to take down a single boy on my team. Not even a single one. By the end of the season, the boy who I had been unable to pin once the first month I was able to pin half the times we wrestled by that last month. This was a lesson in hard work, and the fact that I am able to beat up boys (and girls). Those two things have given me lots of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Religion And Spirituality On The United States Of America... Religion and spirituality have been complex issues in the United States of America. This is especially true when it comes to Native Americans. Since the 16th century, contact between Native Americans and Europeans has been filled with both good and bad. In this paper, the issue of religion and spirituality and how they figure into the story of Indian European contact between the 16th and 21st centuries will be discussed. The people of the Eastern Woodlands held beliefs about the human, natural, and supernatural worlds. The people believed that there was no line between the human and natural worlds. In some languages, animals were referred to as people. Humans were referred to as extra people, or people people. They also believed there was no line between the natural and supernatural worlds. They also had in their beliefs the idea of manitou. Manitou roughly translates to spirit in English. They believed there was manitou in everything in the human, natural, and supernatural worlds. They believed there was power in the natural world itself. In a reading done in class, Farmers of the Woodlands, written by Peter Nabokov and Dean Snow, there is discussion of the religious and spiritual beliefs of the people who lived in the Eastern Woodlands. For the Penobscot bands, they had the spiritual belief of totems. These totems were animals. They believed the totems were the ancestors to the people of the band. These totems linked them to the lands they lived, hunted, and fished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Value Of The Credits The credits are not provided in a lump sum but instead are claimed in equal amounts over a 10 year credit period (many projects claim credits over 11 years, due to the rules governing how many credits can be claimed in the first year of the credit period). Thus, the $70,000 of annual credits described in the illustration will yield a total of $700,000 of credits over the credit period. Three examples of LIHTC properties in Chicago are Jade Gardens, East Park SRO, and Riverside. Jade Garden is three 3 story apartment buildings with a total of 72 units that was placed in service in 1996. The project cost about $7.4 million and received $2.7 million in tax credits allocated at about $500,000 per year. The project received $.54 in tax credits per every dollar used in the project. East Park SRO cost about $7.1 million and has 152 units that were placed in service in 1995. This project received $2.9 million in tax credits which is about $.53 on every dollar. Lastly, Riverside has 258 units and was put in service in 2007. This project cost about $33.7 million and received about $11.3 million in tax credits which is $.94 on every dollar. These projects are examples of how tax credits are encouraging developers to create housing for low income families. These homes are very modern and blend easily with the surrounding communities. Future studies should compare militaryhousing model and public housing to determine which is more successful and why. Although ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mobileye Mobil Eye Case A) Mobileye, founded by Amnon Shashua and Ziv Aviram, is a company leading the market in technologically advanced software algorithms, system on chips, and applications customized to extensively process visual information for the use of advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS. Mobileye is the market leader for ADAS because of its unmatched customer value proposition, or CVP; focusing on continuously improving safety, avoiding accidents, and saving lives in an increasingly affordable way. It includes an advanced linar, light detection and ranging, sensor system for developing detailed maps of roads it has traveled on. Google s disadvantages as a competitor all stream from the outrageous cost of its self driving car prototype, which is $170,000. Shashua and Aviram do not believe it could be commercialized at such a price. Also, the mapping system would involve an immense amount of driving and is extremely unrealistic on a global scale. There is also a possibility of road construction, changing roads and highways making the memory saved in the systems inaccurate for the mapping system used by Google. In addition, Shashua and Aviram believe that it is not to Google s advantage to attempt such huge leaps into the future so soon. Lastly, the other potential competition that could challenge Mobileye would be OmniVision. • 8. Liberal Arts Should Be Taught In College Essay What is Being Taught in College? What should colleges be teaching, is a question that many people are wanting an answer to. Should colleges be teaching students liberal arts or should they just let liberal arts classes slip away? This a controversy between students on every college campus. It is important to the students, because they want what is best for themselves during college. I believe that students need to be taught liberal arts to help better their learning abilities. In my own experience, I have learned that liberal arts classes may be frustrating, but in the long run they have really helped to develop a better grasp on general education. Liberal arts classes are a good way to begin college, instead of just jumping right in to a major. Colleges should teach liberal arts because they help students develop better learning skills. ... Some might also oppose that colleges should not make students take liberal arts classes. Liberal arts classes do not always help a student develop better learning skills. Some liberal arts classes are not even relevant to a students major. Having to take classes that are not relevant to a student can be overwhelming and frustrating for them. • 10. Rogerian Argument High School to NBA: Good or Bad? Mel Plantenga College Composition P.4/5 March 6, 2013 Some of the greatest stars in the NBA were drafted straight out of high school. Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard are just a few examples. Even though, as of 2006, the NBA eligibility rule states that a player entering the NBA draft must be at least nineteen years old and a year removed from high school, it is still a huge debate in the sports world of whether or not this rule is the right choice. If the rule were to be changed to require two years of college, the players would be much more experienced and would create a stronger group of rookies each year for the NBA. Imagine a young man, straight out of high school, with dreams of playing in the NBA. What if he was one of the four players who, between 1975 and 2001, declared for the draft straight out of high school never made it to the NBA (Should high school players be eligible). What are his options after that? Sure, he could always go to college, but what if he never applied to one? Another option is to play in a European league, but how is an eighteen or nineteen year old expected to live on his own in a whole new country? This is just one downfall to being able to enter the draft straight out of high school. While many are successful, the young men who are not may be forced to give up their dream and must make serious life decisions to move forward. For this reason alone, the rule should stay the same to allow players to mature before they are able to enter the draft. The year of college basketball played is monumental in the maturation of young players directly out of high school. High school basketball is clearly a much different game than what is played in the NBA; the pace is slower and the plays are far less complex. With this said, only few players are able to adapt to the fast pace of the NBA straight out of high school. For the majority of the players unable to do so, their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cattle are associated with this stereotype because it is what people see. An average citizen s only interactions with cattle are seeing them in the field grazing; however a farmer understands to keep his profit and cattle healthy he must reduce stress. A farmer understands his cattle and knows that a routine is necessary to keep stress to a rare occurrence. Contrasting from humans under stress cattle eat less and less putting on less weight and in many cases losing weight. Beef cattle brought to a processing plant are graded on carcass value including marbling, rib eye area, and overall appearance of the meat on the rail. A producer gets the profit based on the evaluation grade on the individual calf. The FAO states, It is necessary for animals to be stress and injury free during operations prior to slaughter, so as not to unnecessary deplete muscle glycogen reserves ( Effects of Stress 2). As an animal is stressed during loading, unloading, and stunning the vital glycogen in the muscle is drastically reduced and can disappear. Glycogen is transformed into lactic acid that works as a tenderizer and taste influence for consumers. A producer could operate a stress free farm, however if the trip to the processing plant is extremely stressful the whole year worth of feeding and making a calf s life easy, is possibly a risk with the value of the carcass plummeting quickly. Although the farmer took many of the correct steps, a small dose of stress before processing can destroy all the hard work and leave consumers with a tough tasteless meat. In conclusion, the amount of stress on cattle can reduce production in all aspects and ultimately leave the farmer empty handed and the consumer can be left with rotten, tasteless food. Stress must be reduced to a minimum to bring forth the best most profitable product. Perhaps all farmers should shoot for having cattle be that stereotype of easily soaking up the sunshine and lying on a side hill chewing cud. What is the cost of stress? In 1993, while on a trip to Sudan, Carter found a Sudanese toddler stalked by a vulture. The vulture is waiting for the girl to die and to eat her but Carter stopped and took a picture instead of helping the girl. Hundreds of people feel mad about the photograph because Carter only used the girl to take photograph, and left her away. Ironically, the photograph won the Pulitzer Prizefor Feature Photography in 1994. I believe Jill is an ethical photographer because the children were either professionally hired or her friend s children (and include her daughter). Growing up, I had strict political ideas fused into my spongy childhood brain without any realization on my part. I m from a very liberal part of the country, and I remember in middle school, discussing politics in my civics class, and being confused as to why people would get so mad about the ideas I held as true. My parents talked about this stuff, how could what they say be lies or arrogant responses to social issues? I soon realized through discussion with my peers that a lot of the stuff I said I believed in I really didn t agree with and that my views were vastly different from my parents and those before them. • 20. Animal Models And Clinical Trials (WY Mak et. Al, 2014) discusses the concerns of the fact that many drugs that are successful in animal trials are not successful in clinical trials, most specifically, drugs used in cancer treatments. Animal models have been an important factor in the testing of a new drug before it is used in clinical trials, but many drugs that are approved in animalmodels are not successful in human models. It has been shown that 85% of early clinical trials for novel drugs are not successful and from the remaining 15%, only half are approved for human use. The reason there is a difference in results between animal models and clinical trials have to do with the inability of animals to identically mimic human body functions. An example of a trial that had a difference in results is the TGN1412 trial. TGN1412 was a drug used to treat diseases such as MS, rheumatoid arthritis, and certain cancers. Before used in clinical trials, this drug was first tested in mice. There were no complications shown in mice that would indicate complications in humans. Humans in clinical trials were given a dose 500 times lower than the dose given to mice and it resulted in catastrophic organ failure. Another study involving IPI 296 in patients with advanced chondrosarcoma was ended early due to the fact that it had no effect shown in clinical trials. Re occuringly, our reading material conveys the idea of static members. During the course of chapter five, I develop a keen understanding on how to use static members, say variables and methods. Building static variables and methods means building class members that hold the same values through all instances. How I Can Use Null Pointer Wisdom in My Own Programming at Home Moreover, many programmers, like me, have their development cycle haulted when the SDK or 3DEngine crashes, and all the console says is null pointer exception. From reading chapter five, I can tell you this exception is thrown when an object referenced variable was not instantiated. This error is simple to fix, takes initializing the troubled variable with the new keyword and constructor of its referenced object class, and there we go. Months of questioning and advice seeking on SDK forums can be bypassed with chapter five, when all you really need to do is identify which variable on the call stack is causing the null pointer reference. Identify which object reference it should have, and initialize it with the new keyword and class constructor. Fluorine, the 13th most abundant element in the earth s crust, is never encountered in its free state in nature. It exists only in combination with other elements as a fluoride compound. Fluoride is effective in preventing and reversing the early signs of tooth decay. Researchers have shown that there are several ways through which fluoride achieves its decay preventive effects. It makes the tooth structure stronger, so teeth are more resistant to acid attacks. Acid is formed when the bacteria in plaque break down sugars and carbohydrates from the diet. The Relation of Evil and Love in Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte This study will examine Emily Bronte s novel Wuthering Heights, focusing on how evil is related to love. The study will explore the main relationship in the book, the relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine. That relationship is full of both love and evil and will show us what happens when evil and love become tied to one another. The first thing we need to do is define evil. Lockwood sees himself as a kind of kin to Heathcliff, and sees the region as a fit for heir dark personalities. This might be a clue helping us to understand the evil part of Heathcliff s love. Several researchers have studied how to persuade effectively, but the best principles of persuasions were described by Robert Cialdini and the principles include reciprocity, scarcity, authority, commitment and consistency, consensus and liking. Reciprocity is the expectation of getting a return for a favor offered. This simply implies that for everything that is given out, there is a certain expectation from the receiving end. Basically, one can give out money and expect goods or services in return. In a business context, I might have the mind set of making a potential customer a repeat buyer and to make that happen, I offer to help the buyer by giving a discount. If the buyer shows appreciation and still comes back to get more of the products, that means the favor has been reciprocated. Scarcity is another principle of persuasion. In this method, the strategy was selecting stocks based on returns in the past J months and holding them for K months (J month/K month strategy). The Spectrophotometer Determinationof Iron in Teff Introduction The research question is: the spectrophotometer determination of iron in teff and a measure of the bio availability to suggest ways in which bio availability or absorption is increased and consequently anemia decreased. Iron is one of the most important elements that is needed by different living organisms. One of its functions is to control cell growth and aid in differentiation of cells. However, one of its most important responsibilities is found in hemoglobin. which is involved in allowing oxygen transport in portions of the blood. Iron is available in two oxidation states: Fe2+ and Fe3+. The one that is readily absorbed in the human body is Fe2+. Thus in this extended essay, I will focus on the concentration of Fe2+ in four cereals teff, wheat, maize and sorghum. Limited amounts of absorption of Fe2+ in the human body causes iron deficiency anemia. Iron deficiency anemia is when a person has a red blood cell count that is less than normal or when there are few hemoglobin molecules in each red blood cell. Consequences and effect of this to humans could be fatigue, headaches, palpitations, lethargy and etc. One of the causes of iron deficiency anemia is the bio availability of many grains and legumes. The less bio available or in other words the less absorbed the nutrients of the cereals we eat are, the prospect of iron deficiency anemia occurring becomes higher.
