Features Of Space Expansion
Feature Space Expansion
Firstly the feature space would be increased in dimension, by the addition of new features. Due to
the analysis done on feature production, it was noted that by generalising feature production and
consumption (in the neural network), a lot of time could be saved in the long run. This meant when
the feature space was to be expanded, it would be important to create the feature production in a
scalable manner.
Neural Network Expansion
Secondly, the neural network would be extended from a simple input output neural network to one
with a variable number of inputs, layers, and hidden neurons. The addition of more layers would
allow more complex planes to partition the feature space as sometimes simple planes cannot
adequately classify data. For example, consider the classification of a data set similar to the output
of a XOR gate.
Consider four input data points of (0, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0), and (1, 1), with respective outputs 0,1,1,0,
where 1 represents positive classification, and 0 represents negative classification. This provides
an example of a classification which has very high error when classified without a hidden layer.
This is because a linear combination of the input coefficients can only define a partition which is a
straight line.
Any linear partition of these inputs can at most correctly classify three of four data points. This is
because the data points are linearly inseparable. However, with a more complex neural network,
such as one

The Effects of Gunpowder on Warfare Essays
The discovery of gunpowder changed war from being fought with medieval weaponry and battle
tactics to more modern day weapons and tactics because the gunpowder powered weapons are
more deadly. Weapons that use gunpowder to launch projectiles have a greater range than melee
weapons and are more powerful than bow and arrows. Also, cannons are more powerful and have a
greater range and accuracy than catapults and they also can be reloaded faster than catapults.

The long range infantry weapon of the 1700 s was the musket. The musket is stronger than the bow
and arrow. The kinetic energy and momentum of an 18mm musket ball shooting from a Brown
Bess musket are 1460 joules and 9.36 kg*m/s. The kinetic energy and momentum of an arrow
being shot from a bow are 16.5 joules and 1.15 kg*m/s. The musket ball clearly has a much
stronger momentum and kinetic energy than the arrow, which means it has more stopping power.
Firearms of the 1700 s also have much greater maximum range than bows and arrows. If a Brown
Bess was fired at a forty five degree angle in a frictionless environment, the musket ball would
travel 9783 meters. If a bow fired it s arrow at forty five degrees in a frictionless environment, it
would travel only one hundred and nineteen meters. The musket has more than eighty two times the
maximum range of the bow and arrow. Some might say that bows and arrows are stronger than
muskets, but that is not entirely true. Most people refer to muskets and rifles of the eighteen and
nineteenth century only as smooth bore barrel muskets. Muskets barrels later became rifled in the
nineteenth century and are much more accurate than their smooth bore relatives. Not only are
muskets more lethal than bows and arrows, but cannons and artillery are more lethal than medieval
catapults.

Rent To Work
Financial literacy, defined as the understanding about individual or family finances and the
application of the skills to make responsible financial decisions, is one of the progressive
economic courses for individuals and families facing a financial crisis (Delgadillo, 2014). The
topics investigated in this literature review include the importance of financial education for all
clients, the effectiveness of financial literacy, and different approaches to financial literacy classes.
The relevance to social work involves several principles from the NASW Code of Ethics,
specifically service, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, social
justice, and competence (Code of Ethics, 2008). Also, the NASW specifies that commitment to
clients is the primary ethical responsibility for social workers (Code of Ethics, 2008). Although the

Descriptive Narrative Essay
It s hard to explain, the feelings and thoughts I had that day. Immense joy, and yet towering fear.
So many words come to mind, looking back on it now. I felt alienated, yet accepted. I felt
accepted, with the other women standing by me. I felt alienated by the immense amount of
mens eyes on us. A penetrating stare, as though we didn t belong. Anxious, yet eager. It s nerve
wracking being the first, being a leader. But I knew this was my place. Superior, yet inferior.
Superior, with that crisp uniform upon my body. Inferior, the mens eyes. June 28, 1976. The
bus moves along, ascending into the mountains of colorado springs. Every bump makes my
stomach tie into a knot even tighter than before. There is chatter, the sound of what we are.
Teenage girls. I drift from the talk and find myself thinking back to what my father said so me
so long before this day. They will rip you of all of your rights and hand them back to you one by
one. I am prepared for it. I know that I am strong enough for the future coming my way. The Air
Force Academy is my future. A particularly jostling bump brings my back into my seat. I join into
the conversations as the bus continues its constant low hum and swaying motion. The girl across
the aisle from me turns to me, Nervous, much? Taken aback, I ask her what she means. Your face,
it looks a bit uh uneasy. Yeah, a little bit, I guess. And you aren t? I never said that I wasn t. She

Social Issues In America Today
In America today, there are an array of issues that our society faces daily. The society we live in

of America s leading social issues. Obesity can be blamed on a number of things: lack of
physicality, GMOs, and socioeconomic status. Overweight and obese individuals are a risk for
many diseases and chronic health issues. This can range from high blood pressure to certain
cancers (colon, pancreas, breast, prostate, etc.) There are more than 3 million cases of obesity in
America today. The lack of physicality would play a role in these numbers. Efforts have been made

Study of Milestone 3 s Mobile Phone Implementation Plan
Milestone 3: Mobile Phone Implementation Plan Technology or Business Practices For
Milestone to be successful with their mobile platform strategy their strength of integration needs
to progress beyond TCP/IP and encompass the emerging technologies and standards that will lead
to tablets becoming the dominant development platform of the future. At the center of these
technologies are secured enterprise access encryption and remote management support including
device wide wipe and replace security architectures (Gold, 2011). These technologies make it
possible for Milestone to manage each of their applications remotely and also completely erase
the contents of a device if it is lost or stolen. A second major design criterion is to create an
effective Application Programmer Interface (API) architecture that allows for any of the
Milestone applications and associated resource calls including database integrations to gain real
time access speeds (Proffitt, 2011). The expectation customers have for smartphone and tablet PC
access today includes real time performance at a minimum with periodic application updates not
requiring reboot of the device required (The Economist, 2011). This is the new normal when it
comes to device performance and requires an intensive level of integration within a given device in
addition to database and system integration requirements. Apple has been able to successful

Big Bad Wolf Persuasive Essay
Eating is a necessary commodity. Every living being has to eat in order to stay alive. In fact,
you can only survive about 3 weeks without eating. Many animals don t receive backlash for the
food they eat because, even us, human beings understand that it s necessary to obtain proteins.
However, the Big, Bad Wolf will always be unfairly criticized for eating pigs. Even though
society views the wolf as malicious, that is very far from the truth as proven in sources B, C,
and H because the wolf deserves to eat food as much as the pigs do. You re obliged to feed
yourself as much as any person or animal is. Food is such an essential item you could say that
everyone deserves to eat. However, many tried to verbally attack the wolf in his decision of
eating the pigs. Nevertheless, you re right, nobody should take accountability because wolves
[decide to] eat cute animals (Source B). I m sure, If cheeseburgers were cute, folks would
probably think you were Big and Bad (Source B). When interpreted, the comparison seems frugal,
but in the larger picture it makes sense. Primarily because wolves, like... Show more content on

My Desire to Work in Game Development
As a child all I wanted to do was rule the world, I noticed early on in my childhood that all aspects
of computer games development especially programming and games design could help me
accomplish this. I have been playing computer games since before even the PlayStation 2 was
released when my brother got a PlayStation from a another family member. For as much as I
have enjoyed, experienced a wide range of platforms, games and retain my love for this form of
entertainment. One of my favourite games of all time is Kingdom Hearts, on the PlayStation 2 and
developed by Square (later Square Enix); it played brilliantly, was graphically superb and had a
perfect soundtrack.
My resolve of wanting to develop games in the future using the variety of platforms that would be
available, in empowering new technology, I can see that computer games programme gives solid
groundwork within computer science to determine ideal. It would give the necessary skills,
knowledge to learn and evolve with and within growing industry.
Most of time spent reading books similarly comic books/manga etc. such as e.g. Charlie Higson s
The Fear, Darren Shan s The Saga of Darren Shan, Online game magazines, such as PCGamer,
Gamasutra, where I keep up to date with the latest news in the games industry, reading game
reviews, learn about different aspects of a career in game development and much more. During
June 2013, I attended The Rezzed Expo, a fair for current Game Developers and prospective

Why do people do research? People research to find out facts and information, solutions to
problems, and instructions on how to do things better. It can be a great and useful tool, but you
have to be really careful of the sources you use because not all sources are credible. Doing research
gives you a chance to pursue your interests, to learn new things, develop your problem solving
skills, and to find new ways to challenge yourself. Working on a research project with fellow
coworkers gives you the chance work closely with one another and learn from a mentor, a faculty
member, or other experienced researcher. With a self initiated research project, you leave Berkeley
with a product that represents the distillation of your interests and studies, and possibly, a real
contribution to knowledge. (http://research.berkeley.edu/experience.php) ... Show more content on

Symbolism In Tangerine By Edward Bloor
Every day, people often get themselves in positions where they are presented with appearance
known to be deceptive. Based on the appearance, a false truth hides beneath an exceptional
display. People, objects, and buildings are entirely taken by people s perspectives. This is the
theme that the book Tangerine illustrates. The novel Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor, is
about Paul Fisher, a boy having to go through many situations where a false reality surrounds his
life. Bloor uses Erik Fisher and the Tangerine County to reveal that reality is often far from what
it appears to be. The first symbol Edward Bloor uses is Erik Fisher. Erik Fisher is a high school
football star without impaired vision unlike his brother, Paul (Burch 27). As Paul finds out, his
eyes were damaged from Erik. Paul states, I remembered Erik s fingers prying my eyelids open
while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them (255). This shows that Paul did not realize the
dark past behind his disability and that Erik could have done such a thing to him since Erik s
external shape is much clearer than the looking of himself. Another reality behind Erik s typical
appearance is that he orders his sidekick, Arthur Bauer to murder Luis Cruz (275). Not even enough

Paul Fisher describes the Tangerine County as a place carpeted with green grass, with trees along
both sides of the road and flower beds running down the middle of a median strip. We could see the
roofs of big expensive houses peeking up over the landscaping (9). Although things on the surface
look great in Tangerine County, they re falling apart underneath. Outside the housing development,
a muck fire burns underground (16). In a middle school, a sinkhole opens (80), and mosquitoes
torture the neighborhoods (161). These incidents completely differ from its display of a beautiful

An analysis of Eric Klinenberg article Adaptation: How can cities be climate proofed Global
warming and climate change exist and the two have called for a world attention to reduce their
impacts. The Great 8 nations, including U.S., have convened various global summits where heads
of states come to debate how to counter the increased climate change. Various recommendations

How Does Michael Moore Use Satire In Bowling For Columbine
At first glance, Michael Moore s documentary Bowling for Columbine appears to highlight the
ubiquitous issue of gun violence in the United States. However, in actuality, the documentary
exposes the fear mongering that exacerbates Americans affinity for violence through the use of
satire in cartoons and interviews. To begin, Moore summarizes the history of America with a
satirical cartoon that depicts Americans as cowardly people. It is evident from the cartoon that
America has a history of fear mongering since citizens are always fearful of something, whether it
be the Aboriginals or African Americans disrupting the picturesque Caucasian suburbia, all without
a probable cause. As a result, citizens utilize this mentality of fear to justify

Dysfunctional Families
Dysfunctional families breed dysfunctional children. This can stay with them all the way up to
their marriage and is most likely to occur in their relationship. According to research done by the
University of Chicago ( published in the journal of Abnormal Child Psychology) social skills
can be interpreted as everything from the basic please and thank you to speaking in large
crowds. How parents deal with that is just as important for the child as the violence they are
being exposed to. In the end, they both affect the child one way or another. Part of the Brain The

61 records of this volcano erupting. The first eruption recorded was in 1519 and the most current
eruption is in 2016. One of Colimas largest explosion was on January 20th, 1913. The type of
magma that fuels from this volcano is rhyolitic. In the images that I found on google maps

knew that magma type had to be rhyolitic. This volcano is explosive. I know this based off the

Each element gave the stage a different feel that matched every scene , complementing each
brilliantly. The only element that lacked for me was lights, although very bright ; in my opinion
the reoccurring blue wasn t the best option. I feel if the lighting designer would have had more
warmer colored lights against the already vibrant set pieces, it would have made the stage pop
more. But one thing i did particularly fancy, were the costumes the characters wore and how
they fit each character. Each character s costume showed the dichotomy between the
personalities and tastes of each individual. For example Ilona played by Jane Krakowski was
dressed in a scarlet / pinkish dress with a high slit up the left side; showing her seductive
character type. Meaning when i saw Ilona on stage, I immediately knew who i was looking at .

Edward Snowden Controversy
Edward Snowden is a former computer programmer that worked for the National Security Agency,
an intelligence agency of the US government that focuses on the protection of important data from
foreign intelligence. But back in 2013, he was found guilty of leaking confidential information
regarding the NSA s secret surveillanceprogram. After being charged for theft of government

There are two ways to look at this; is Snowden an enemy or hero to America?

How Did Normans Build Motte And Bailey Castles
Castles were constructed strategically as military structures to defend against attackers and
enemies. They were built to maximize their defense features and limit any weaknesses that the
enemy could capitalize on. Around the 10th century, Normans began to build motte and bailey
castles to protect themselves from any Viking invasions or attacks which depended on the element
of surprise. Motte and bailey castles got their name from their motte which is a mound of earth
and their bailey, a flat enclosed area that is usually surrounded by a wooden fence. On top of the
motte was the keepwhich was a tower or structure that operated as the last line of defense. The
motte was sometimes human made and was combined with a nearby hill. The keep was also where

Castles began to be built with stone instead of timber and became stronger to withstand sieges. For
example, castles included drawbridges and other features such as ditches, rivers and moats were
built to encircle the castle. As the construction of castles improved and new innovations were
integrated, concentric circle castles emerged in the 12th century. These were castles with an inner
wall and an outer wall, hence the name, concentric, which means a circle inside another circle. The
inner wall was higher than the outer wall which allowed archers to shoot over the outer walls and
the outer wall was thicker to have a strong first line of defense. More important structures were built
within the inner wall and the multiple walls construction made the castle more durable during the
event of a siege or an attack. When an attack occurred, the concentric design of the castle resulted in
many attackers getting struck in the middle of the inner and outer walls. The soldiers defended the
castle took advantage of the situation and the attacker would be bombarded with traps, hot liquid
and murder

Homebuyer Interest Rate
The first mortgage option is a 15 year, fixed rate mortgage. This mortgage type maintains a steady
interest rate for the fifteen year term of the loan and requires the homebuyer to make equal monthly
payments until the loan is amortized (Zillow.com, n.d.[b]). Because the term of this loan is short,
the monthly mortgage payment will be higher than with a longer term loan as the principal must be
paid off in a shorter amount of time. The interestrate associated with a mortgage varies by lending
institution, homebuyer s credit score, loan term, location of home, among other variables (Geffner,
2009). For the purposes of this analysis, we will assume that the homebuyer has qualified for Bank
of America s 15 year, fixed rate mortgage interest rate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With an initial interest rate of 3.5%, a homebuyer s monthly principal/interest payment during the
first ten years is $772.36. The actual monthly payment will be, as with the 15 year fixed rate
mortgage, increased by the monthly escrow payments of homeowner s insurance and property taxes
making the actual monthly payment during the first ten years $1,246.36. Under the assumption that
the interest rate would increase by 0.1% every year after the initial 10 year period, the homebuyer s
principal/interest payment increases from the aforementioned $772.36, to $850.15, with their total
monthly payment increasing from $1,246.36 to $1,324.21. Again, the proportion of the principal

multiplied by the previous month s ending principal balance. The remainder of the principal

How to Build Dynamic Team Cohesiveness
| How to Build Dynamic Team Cohesiveness| By: Tony E Ornduff| Introduction Just because an
organization has employees does not mean they will function together as a team. To be a team
requires that the team members enjoy working together and does so cohesively, productively, and
efficiently. The successful team is cohesive because team members work together and share
common goals and resources. Production doesn t mean the team members never disagree, but they
know how to work through conflicts and resolve conflicts together. The team is efficient because
tasks are assigned in a way that takes into account each member s strengths and weaknesses. The

They communicate well among themselves and well with other teams in the company. Conversely,
almost all problems preventing a team from operating cohesively are related to poor
communication. Misunderstandings and assumptions can create chaos within a team.
Communication is vital to successful team building. Managers who oversee teams should
encourage their workers to communicate regularly with each other. The manager should promote
interaction amongst his team members. It is easy for a team that sits together to interact. However,
it is much more difficult if they are not based in the same location. The manager should use regular
events to bring his team together. This can be done through team meetings, status and progress
updates, or social events. Events outside work can especially help the team get to know each other
and foster positive working relationships. When the manager schedules a team meeting, it is
important for all team members to actively engage during these meetings. Synergy on teams is
achieved when team members feel comfortable speaking up with suggestions that build on the
creativity of other team members. If the manager is the only one communicating and dominating
the meeting, this can limit the chances of a team achieving real synergy. All team members should
feel encouraged to have input into their jobs. Encourage employees to make suggestions about
changes in what they do and

The flapper was a women that did what she wanted, and had lots of fun. The flapper could be
recognised by her signature look of bobbed hair and easy to move in clothing which resembled
that of a boys clothing. Flappers wore this so that they could easily dance and move about freely
instead of being restricted to what they normally could do. Flappers were able to take charge of
their lives and do what they wanted and do it when they wanted to, which really made the lives
of women during the 1920 s exciting and fun. A great example of this was smoking, flappers
started to smoke in the 1920 s which up until this point in time had only been done by man. The
image of a women smoking would have shocked anyone during the start of the Roaring
Twenties, but by the end of the decade women smoking was just a normal occurrence. Women
smoking showed how they now had freedom to do what they wanted and that they did have the
right to do what men do, if men are smoking cigarettes why should women not smoke. The
flapper girls started to smoke as a way to both rebel and to live a little, it was fun for them and it
almost made them more powerful as it pushed the boundaries of what women could do.
Smoking for the flapper girls as a result of pushing these boundaries became a fun activity that
made their lives much more exciting. Next another new thing flappers started to do was driving
cars. Cars were new and were very exciting and fast which was perfect for the fun flapper
lifestyle. Flappers loved cars as they were fast and very risky which was a great activity for the
flappers as they could now push the boundaries even more because they were doing the same
thing that the men were doing. Driving cars truly was able to show off a flapper s wild side as
they just wanted to have the excitement and the fun that comes along with driving a car. Finally
flappers drank alcohol during a time when it was prohibited.

Literary Review of Bram Stoker s Dracula Essay
Review of Bram Stoker s Dracula Prior to the creation of the literary classic Dracula , Bram
Stoker spent his time managing the Lyceum Theatre and legendary actor Henry Irving.
According to Jennifer Dorn, when the novel was first published in 1897, critics regarded it as a
pulp fiction potboiler (Dorn). The novels declaration as a literary masterpiece came many years
later. A graduate of Trinity college, Stoker came from a middle class Irish family, the son of a civil
servant. The publication The Literary World of Bram Stoker, by Jennifer Dorn, declares that

a secret applauder to the feminist movement by creating female characters who exhibit such
independence. There are many interpretation of Stokers inspiration for the characters in Dracula,
and of the Count himself. According to a biography written by Barbara Belford, Stoker based his
dark vampire character on his actor friend and employer, Henry Irving. Stokers slavish devotion
to the actor can be compared to the relationship between Renfield and the Count (Miller). In the
novel, Renfield is driven mad with powerful loyalty to the Count. Belford insinuates in The
Biography of the Author of Dracula, that the relationship between Irving and Stoker was of the
same dominate nature. Belford goes forward to declare that the Stoker slyly includes in his novel
repressed homoerotic and sexual tendencies, possibly his own, that were forbidden by society
standards of that time. This issue brought forth the fears of societal sexual independence in the
Victorian era. Another speculation for the inspiration of the Count Dracula in Stokers novel is of
the Prince of Wallachia, Vlad III. He ruled over what is now known as Romania during the years

The lieutenant governor, Dan Patrick, is the presiding officer over the Texas Senate. Unlike the
Speaker, the lieutenant governor does not have the same amount of control over the Senate

The Ambiguity Of The Iconic
This essay will explore the ambiguity of the Iconic, what does it stand for in the modern world of
architecture and how does it originate. The obsession of architecture with this term is slowly
taking over; architects strive towards creating Iconic buildings as a way to gain fame. How does
one design an Iconic building and what does it imply when placed within a particular context? We
will explore this through a particular architectural project of the church of San Giovanni Battista
under Florence, an icon which never really succeeded in achieving its purpose and yet contains
some of the very fundamental and curcial ideas about the Iconic which I want to express in this
essay. Why does one building (such as the Eiffel toweror London Gherkin)become symbolic for a
city while other attempt to replicate this phenomenon fail? And most importantly what role does

Summary Of We Are All Bystanders Essay
Everyday humans are presented with new opportunities and situations. These events can change
the way they think and make decisions. But it s the way it can change ones relationships that can
really hurt one s ability to care. There is a total of 7.442 billion people alive today. Yet only a
small portion of that are people one truly cares about. For many people, a specific setting, situation
or emotion can alter the way people can think rationally.
Throughout life, one is to see many people they don t know Humans walk past each other and no
interaction occurs. Depending on a particular situation one might be in, it can change the ability
to react, help and care for a stranger in need. In the article We are all bystanders , by Jason Marsh
and Dacher Keltner, it shows how in certain settings people don t act to help another, even though
one might want to. Everyday Stuart would board the bus and a couple of boys would tease him. I
would sit silent and watch. I wish I would ve helped (Marsh/Keltner 3). People develop a feeling
that prevents them from caring for strangers. This is due to a thought of peer pressure or judgement
that could be given to an individual for taking action. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Summary
Zynga was the leader in the social game with the support of Facebook. The demographic
representation of the social games extends to women and elderly. The lack of creativity of Zynga

strategy toward the mobile platform. Zynga relies its sales on virtual goods, which are very limited

The strategy of Zynga is offer free games in order to sell virtual goods by exploiting the marketing

doing research on this topic. Divorce is very hard on people who have to deal with this. The
articles I have found to do research on all have something new and exciting to bring to the table.
Of the ones I have found, I believe they will help me to understand more of the struggles young
children have to cope with during such a difficult time. I also found an interesting article about
the fathers perspectives on divorce. It talked about how they still want to be apart of their
children s lives and how hard it is to keep a strong relationship with their children. I felt like it
would be good to include this article into my paper because it will help me to learn from the fathers
side how they handle the situation. Throughout this paper, I disused the different effects divorce
has on children, the various programs and coping strategies for the children, and fathers
perspectives and motherchild relationships. All of these topics are very important to divorce and
the articles from the researchers did a great job of talking about these topics.

Total energy consumption has been reduced through the use of new technology, such as
renewable sources, like wind turbines (CEMEX 2012). In 2000, CEMEX reduced electrical
consumption by 160,000 megawatts, which, with the combination of alternative fuels; reduced
CO2 emissions by 263,000 tonnes (Wilson, Chang 2003). CEMEX is now actively committed to

certainly help with the overall reduction of CO2; however it is questionable whether or not the

Summary Of Parasite Rex Inside The Bizarre World Of The World
Zimmer emphasizes his prologue in two different stories. The first story is about a twelve year
old boy named Justin who lives in Tambura Sudan infected with a single cell parasite called a
trypanosome also known as the sleeping disease. Zimmer explains that the parasite is transmitted
by two different hosts the tsetse fly and humans. The infection cycle starts with the tsetse fly
drinking human s blood pouring in Trypanosomes. The trypanosomes then steal oxygen and
glucose invading all the organs including the brain. Sleeping sickness gets its named from the way
trypanosomes disorder people brains by damaging the biological clock and turning day to night.
Justin had to take some injections of melarsoprol which contains twenty percent of arsenic and
steroids for swelling. This brutal procedure was followed because Justin had parasitesin his brain.
The second story took place a few months after his trip to Sudan. Biologist Daniel Brooks
guided Zimmer and seven other biologists through a jungle in Costa Rica. Brooks caught several
different types of frogs to look under a microscope, most of the parasites were new to science.
Zimmer then goes into detail of how the book Parasite Rex Inside the Bizarre World of Nature s
Most Dangerous Creatures is about a new study of life and that it has taken a long time for scientist
to appreciate the sophisticated adaptation parasites have made to the inner world.

Comparison Of Drummer Hodge And I Look Into My Glass By...
Thomas Hardy was a poet and novelist from the 19th century. He was born in June 1840, and he
had wrote over 800 poems in his lifetime, a lot of which were published in his latter years. I am
going to compare and contrast two of his poems: Drummer hodge and I Look into my glass.
Drummer Hodge is a poem about a young man who tragically lost his life in the Boer war. Hardy
heard news about the death of the young drummer who was from Dorchester in wessex (the region
that Hardy most commonly wrote about) The drummers in the war could often be as young as
thirteen or fourteen, as they would be dishonest about their age to the recruitment officers. Hodge is
not the drummer s name; it was often a nickname given to agricultural workers at this period ...

Both poems use the abab structure, have three stanzas and concentrate on the theme of death.
Whilst the poem of Drummer hodge has the backdrop of a huge landscape, I look into my glass
portrays the sufferings of a melancholy man who is writing in self pity. The language differs a
lot between the two pems as Drummer Hodge is a external pem that can easily be imagined
however I look into my glass is not only internalised it is introverted. Hodge himself wouldnt of
wanted to die so young while Hardy felt he had lived his life and wanted it to come to an end,
this displays a huge contrast between the poems. In I look into my glass the coldness of other
people s hearts is emphasised by the assonance of grown cold and then lonely in the next line. It
also underlines Hardy s grieving with the words steals and eve . Assonance cannot be found in
Drummer Hodge as I believe he is telling a story while in I look into my glass he truly wants
sympathy for himself from the

The Siamese Revolution And Animal Farm
The Siamese Revolution and Animal Farm Thailand has gone through many revolutions and

positive happenings while under absolute monarchy rule. They had been able to preserve their
independence when it was threatened by the British and French colonial advances in Southeast
Asia. That had happened while Siam was under rule of Chulalongkorn. Siam was also able to
gain spoils of war from being involved with World War I during the rule of Vajiravudh. Siam s last

Summary
If you are reading this paper at work, chances are your boss may be reading it right along with you
and you do not know it. Employers have a legitimate interest in monitoring their employees in the
workplace. Besides efficiency and productivity, employers want to protect their agencies from
possible employee misconduct, fraud, and misrepresentation.
Current legal trends seem to indicate that employer interests are going to be given deference,
especially if the workplace continues to experience signs of increased destructive behaviors (thefts,
workplace violence, copyright infringement, etc.). At times, employee surveillance is viewed as
absolutely necessary.
Unfortunately, there are virtually no clear cut laws that regulate employee monitoring in the
workplace. In order to protect yourself, understand your employer s policy on employee monitoring
and know your privacy rights if your employer abuses monitoring in the workplace.
The Privacy Issue
One of the most interesting, yet controversial areas concerning employment is that of privacy.
Employers and employees alike are trying to discern what limits should a company have over

Everybody Hates Chris
Since television came into existence, it has evolved into a useful tool to spread ideas, both social
and political, and has had a great effect on the generations growing up with these heavily influential
shows. To these younger generations, television has taken the role of a teacher, with the task of
creating a social construction by which many of us base our personal beliefs and judgments on.
This power allows televisionshows take the opportunity to address problems in a manner that many
audiences can take to heart. Many television shows present controversial topics in a comical matter,
in some ways to soften the blow of hard hitting reality at the same time bringing attention to the
issue being addressed. In the television show,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buying stolen goods is a great deal, and a good way to stretch a dollar in Chris s neighborhood
and it was perfectly acceptable, unless they were selling your stolen property. This portrayal of
Chris s neighborhood further reinforces the class differences between the white and black
neighborhoods in New York and by extension throughout the United States. Chris returns to
school and so returns the racial stereotypes that affect his day to day life. As the rumor of him
beating up the bully continues to spread, Chris is put into a position where he cannot defend
himself from any attackers or he would be labeled as the aggressor and punished by detention.
Shortly after Chris begins his school day, he is called into the principal s office to be lectured by
the school s principal. Very quickly the most heinous stereotypes are said by the principal, a man
who is supposed to be of superior intelligence and moral understanding. The principal tries to
sympathize with Chris s life by assuming he does not have a father, that his mother is on drugs,
and that Chris was born a crack baby. Chris, not having any of these issues, is shocked and
confused with the principle s assumptions of what his life is like. By putting these stereotypes into
words, the television show forces the audience to examine their own thoughts on racial stereotypes
and where the line should be

D-Day Of Nazi Germany Essay
June 6, 1944, marked the start of the liberation of Nazi Germany. Many lives were lost by both
sides but all of those lives that were lost were brave people who fought for a great cause. To
make this day a success the US made many fake attacks. These attacks played an amazing role in
the win of the war. D Day was a major turning point in WWII; without a win on the beaches of
Normandy Nazi Germanywould ve kept getting stronger.
The US and its allied forces (Britain and Canada) had many conferences to talk about how and
where they were going to attack Nazi, Germany. Some of the most important conferences were the
Sextant and Eureka meetings. At both of the meetings the people talked about the battle strategy
and who was going where. All allied generals were required to come to these (CNN.com). The US

Operation Overlord was the attack of the US and its allies along the beaches of France. Even
though the general said these words on June 5th the attack was postponed to the next day. on
June 6th at 6;30 am the war started when the Germans were caught off guard and they were
attacked. By June 11, 1944 over 160,000 US and allied troops made it into the beaches of

500 vessels were in the fight to attack Nazi Germany (History.com/staff). When the people in the
concentration camps heard about the allies coming they started to get hope . Many Germans
had to take detours around big bridges because the allied forces were destroying them during the
war (A+E Networks). At one attack point Roi Namur over 5,000 Japanese people died and less than
500 US people died. The defeat of Nazi Germany was a very important part of winning the war and

Bystander Intervention Paper
Bystander intervention describes the act of an individual stepping in to stop a violent activity, in
which someone or something is being victimized. Bystander intervention has been well studied, in a
variety of settings and situations. The first research on this subject was done by LatanГ© and
Darley (1968), who found that bystanders were less likely to intervene during emergencies when
they were in a group, than when they were alone. Much of the modern research looks at bystander
interventionin situations of sexual violence, particularly that which occurs among people on college
campuses.
Fischer and Greitemeyer (2013) took an applied approach by examining bystander intervention with
other bystanders present or absent, in situations of varying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

(2013), Bennet and Banyard (2016) also looked at bystander invention in sexually violent
situations, but focused their research on college campuses. This research focused the relationship
between the bystanders affiliation with victims and perpetrators and the likelihood and safety of an
intervention. Participants included 545 students who were enrolled in a psychology course at a
college in the northeast United States. The group was primarily consisted of white and freshmen
and sophomore students. Just over half were female, 29.5% reported unwelcome sexual events in
adolescence, and 4.4% had been raped. Participants read stories about sexual violence in which
they were assigned to being either friends or strangers with the perpetrator, and friends or strangers
with the victim. After reading the stories, they answered surveys that asked if the scenario depicted
a problem and if they felt comfortable intervening. The results found that when participants were
friends with the perpetrator they labeled the situation as less problematic, and when they were
friends with the victim they labeled it as more problematic. Participants who knew either the victim
or perpetrator found it safer to intervene than participants who knew neither, and those who knew
both individuals found it safest. This research showed that bystander relationships with those
involved in the situation reflect identification of a problem and perceived bystander

Adolf Hitler And The Nazi Party
In 1933, Adolf Hitler was legally named chancellor of Germany by President Paul von
Hindenburg. In the following years, Hitler would take power as FГјhrer and the Nazi party would
create laws that pretty much allowed them to kill eleven million people. While the anti semitic laws
and the laws against undesirables were horrible, they were still laws. The truth of the matter was
that Hitler belonged to the Nazi partyand it was a legitimate political party with a substantial
following; and their laws were enacted legally. In this essay, I will explain how both Hart s and
Fuller s theories play into why I believe that the Nazis had laws. It begins with Hart s idea of a
sovereign body enacting legitimate laws and the complexity of the people following despite the
immorality of the laws and ends with the laws becoming nullified as they lose respect. I will
also address the idea that the Nazi s power didn t have legitimate laws because they went against
laws that came before them. Hart, often credited as being the father of modern legal positivism ,
built his ideas off the legal positivists who came before him: Jeremy Bentham and John Austin.
Hart took their ideas and softened their especially Austin s harder, more cynical view that laws
were purely followed because of a the threat coming from a reigning power. Hart argued that laws
were more complex than that. He believed that the incentives, negative or positive, put forth by the
ruling power was only part of the

A. E. Housman s Poem For An Athlete Dying Young
Forever Young
James Wattersmith once said, live life to its fullest or it may seem like you died young (1). A.E.
Housman s poem, For an Athlete Dying Young is a moving tribute to those affected by the death
of someone who has died young and the noticable difference that is left when they are gone, but
also that they are remembered for the remarkable things they have done. The poem is also
symbolic for athletes and the sadness they feel when their old age makes them have to quit the
game they love so much. Housman uses imagery, word choice, and symbolism to deliver a sad but
powerfully emotional poem that expresses the feelings experienced when an individual dies young
but also the sadness endured by some athletes as they grow old.

Housman uses comparisons and symbols to help the reader to understand the situation to
accomplish the goal of fully expressing the theme of remembrance and longing. The narrator recalls
a time when Shoulder high we bring you home, / And set you at your threshold down, / Townsman
of a stiller town (lines 6 8). The narrator seems to be relating the time when, in excitement and
jubilation of the athlete s win, they carried him home in glory. Line 8 suggests that perhaps being
townsman of a stiller town means that he has passed on and the townsman carried the athlete home
and placed the athlete at the threshold in death. The threshold is symbolic of the transition from
worldly glory the athlete was experiencing, to the heavenly glory the athlete now realizes. The
athlete has passes on and is now the townsman of a town much stiller than the one the athlete once
knew suggesting that the athlete is now becoming acquainted with a new heavenly town . Line 8,
while being the first indication that the athlete has died, also gives calming reassurance that the
athlete is in a better, more tranquil place. A.E. Housman continues to use symbolism, when in lines
11 12 the narrator says that the athlete like the laurel grows / [And] withers quicker than the rose .
Housman uses the laurel bush to symbolize how the athlete has grown quickly, but has also died
just as fast. Housman may not be suggesting that the

Arrest Emmeline Pankhurst
7333 It was the fifth time I was called to arrest Emmeline Pankhurst under the Cat and Mouse
Act. As a police officer, I thought it was my duty to keep the streets of Plymouth clean, and I
would be assigned the same comfortable position over and over again. But my chief from
Scotland Yard found out my motives and sent me out to do some other dirty work, such as
arresting women under the Cat and Mouse Act. The government had decided to arrest Emmeline
after she traveled from Ellis Island to England. Of course, I was expecting to be sent to recapture
her, but 7 other men were also told to follow me. 4 from Scotland Yard, two from Plymouth, and a
prison guard from Holloway. Like all of the other times, Ms. Pankhurst refused to go back to
prison, but we picked her up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My job was assigned, and it seemed like my chief could already foresee the events that were
going to happen. It seemed as if I was assigned to every single one of Emmeline Pankhurst s
arrests. Every time I arrested her and brought her to prison, I started to grow soft towards the
women s suffrage movement. I started to build empathy for them and started to abandon my
duties, especially after force feeding women for over 3 months. A couple of years after my fifth
arrest of Ms. Pankhurst, I traveled to the United States by boat to witness the woman s suffrage
amendment being passed in the House of Representatives. After being forced to witness so many
horrific events in England, it felt only right to show my support of the Nineteenth Amendment. I
would later go back to England to report what had happened. In 1923, I married one of the
Suffragettes working with Emmeline, and I asked her to tell me all about their efforts to give
women voting rights. Because of what she told me, I was able to increase my efforts to grant
women voting equality with men in

Summary Of Monica Ferrell
Monica Ferrell s, Of the Irresoubleness of Diamonds, Harmless, As Recalled by a Fairy Tale,
Gerburt des Monicakinds, and Beautiful Funeral each employ four different grammatical issues
such as attributive adjectives, finite verb strings, non finite verb strings, active voice and the
known new contract throughout her poems. By incorporating these grammatical issues into her
work, Ferrell intends to develop a clear and sharp image to ignite the imagination of her readers.
The poems Of the Irresoubleness of Diamonds, Harmless, As Recalled by a Fairy Tale, Gerburt
des Monicakinds and Beautiful Funeral were written by poet and novelist Monica Ferrell.
Monica Ferrell was born in New Dehli. She earned her BA from Harvard University and MFA
from Columbia University (Poetry Foundation). Ferrell discusses the role of uncertainty in her
poems. She states, I m trying to let something that wants to come into being do so poetry as
uncovering, rather than invention or rhetoric, and a form of devotion and service . (Poetry
Foundation). By using several grammar techniques Ferrell paints a bright image for her readers to
ponder upon. Ferrell is an atypical poet and uses a variety of forms to convey her simple and lyrical
tone throughout them. One of the reasons that I chose her poems is because of the strong, lyrical
language she uses to convey the imagery and earnest tone. Her attitude throughout these three
poems remains quizzical. Monica

Typical symptoms include tumors, stiffness, slowness, impaired balance and coordination.
About 1.5 million Older Americans are affected by Parkinson experience no motor symptoms,
memory loss, depression, and a lack of sense of smell. The symptoms at times appear after a
stroke, encephalitis (an irritation or inflammation of the brain caused by an infection), and or
head injury occurs. Parkinson Disease is currently not a direct death endangerment. There has
not been an official case where a patient has directly died from Parkinson, but there have been
cases of evidence that in some type of Parkinson diseases were created by a mutated gene that
creates a certain protein. The average percent for a man in his sixties to develop Parkinson
disease is a 2% chance while a women in her sixties has a 1.3% chance. In the year 2000 15,000
deaths were reported to have had Parkinson a rate of 5.5 people per 100,000 people in America.
In the United States alone the chance of someone developing Parkinson is between 1.5 2.0
percent. On average a person spends about $2500 on medication and nationally $5.6 billion
approximately is spent annually. Smokers have a 40% lower risk of development in Parkinson. The
ingredient inside cigarettes is currently unknown, but there is an ideal guess that it maybe the
Monoamine oxidase B or MAO B that, an enzyme created by the MAOB gene, is found in humans
that lower the chance of development. The

Heritage Of The West Essay
Zackary Nash 12/12/16 U.S. History Heritage of The West The first part of the book started

Indians, who controlled the Mohawk Valley and St. Lawrence River. Which of the one of the two
major approaches to the introduction of the subcontinent. This followed in various wars, and
shifting back and forth of each lands peace. They talked a lot, I mean a lot about Pioneers, it
talked about Indians, and their effects on the people. This constant danger by the frontier, made it
so that their greatest resources were endurance and prolific reproduction. Indians were capturing
families, trying to preserve their century old ways. They started to take over. There were many
tribes, including the Sac, Fox, Shawnee, Kickapoo, Miami, Delaware, Wyandot, and Seneca tribes.
The British made this worse by continuing to get deep into Indian affairs, even after the 1783 Treaty

When you would pan for gold, you would go to side of a river or runoff, and put the pan in the

The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog )
1. Introduction:
Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are developed
using either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also known as traditional
architecture or using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer Architecture). Some games are
developed using a combination of these two architectures known as Mirrored Server
Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo, 2003). In general, games are two types. One is role based
playing games where players role is fixed. Other is real time strategy based games where player s
actions dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of multiplayer
online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For entertainment purpose and for a virtual experience,
people are showing greater interest in MOG. In recent years, organizations started to using
distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P) architecture for developing MOG due to its
robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The well known traditional client serverarchitecture has
limited scalability and robustness and it requires the high cost to maintain servers when online
players are massive (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004).
The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware and network.
Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as software development for
players and hosts according to hardware management. The theme of the logical platform is
providing best gaming software with

Adolescence Substance Abuse
Being an adolescent myself and having a first hand perspective on adolescent substance abuse, I feel
that I have a certain perspective on the substance abuse and misconduct issues that others may not.
An old friend of mine went through these issues, with continuous and serious substance abuse along
with conduct problems. Personally, I believe that there is a serious lack of justification to begin
abusing substances, however, I understand that there are many factors that are involved when
developing an SUD. In this day and age there is so much information surrounding substances at one

making most people very aware. I do consider the backgrounds... Show more content on

I feel that this is an important comparison due to the fact that parents usually have a greater
knowledge surrounding substance abuse and conduct issues, because they have had enough time to
experience and view these situations. It is also important due to the close relationships that parents
have with their children. The perspectives differ in a great way depending on the parent and
adolescent. Undoubtedly, there is not a parent that would wish a SUD or conduct issues on their
child, however, adolescents can see this as a punishment to their parent. In the particular situation
that I experienced my friend and her mother had unequivocal opposing perspectives on the matter,
the adolescent saw substance abuse as a minor action, with minor consequences, to gain that
temporary euphoric state of mind, and to cope with difficult circumstances; while the mother saw
this substance abuse as a major action, with major, life threatening consequences. While the
mother believed all of this, there was almost a lack of following through with the situation, she
didn t want to believe that her daughter could be doing all of these things, so she chose not to
see it. I believe that the perspectives of each group differ due to the considerable age gap and
different experiences, while one group (the adolescent) is enduring hardships during school time,
the other group (the parent) could have had different experiences in school, or has been graduated
so long that the hardships of school are forgotten. The gap of age is important also due to the
mother having more first hand experiences and perspectives on the

The Conflict of Gene Patents
Patents are licenses granted by the government that give permission to an inventor the right to rent,
hire, or sell his invention. In the science community gene patents have created conflict between
those who believe that patents have helped science and those who believe it is actually hindering
science advances. Genes are important because they are the heredity of a living organismand it is
given from a parent to their offspring. Scientist study genes to find cures for the many diseases
found in the world. Unfortunately gene patents focus on the commercial side, therefore I believe
gene patents should be banned. In this essay, I will outline arguments for and against gene patents.
There have been many cases that have raised the public s awareness over gene patents. It was
recently brought to attention again in the case of Association for
Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics (2013), when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that
companies cannot patent naturally occurring forms of DNA; they can only patent artificial
produced DNA. Naturally occurring genes are genes found on living organisms while artificial
genes are products of genetic material that occur when a gene has been isolated and they cannot be
found in an organism. There are many commercial uses of gene sequences for example in
agriculture a particular product such as rice contains genes once scientist isolates and clones them,
he can find uses for those genes, such as being able immune to particular

England
England is the biggest country that is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern
Ireland. The country of England has a history that is riddled by plagues, ruled by monarchs, and
devastated by two World Wars. Despite these hardships, England also contains a rich history of
culture and beauty.
England was formed by multiple invasions and immigrants from many different countries. Some of
these include the Romans, Vikings, Anglos Saxons and Celts. England was established as an
country in 1536, but has an ancient history dating back to more than 800,000 years. England is
known for its prehistoric monument in Wiltshire called Stonehenge. Stonehenge is a ring of
standing stones that are believed to be built between 3000BC 2000BC of the Neolithic and Bronze
Age. In 43 AD the Roman Empire began to invade and conquer England. The Romans ruled over
England until the 5th century. The Romans built about 10,000 miles of road during their 400 year
reign. After the end of the Roman rule came the people known as the Anglo Saxons. They

  • 2. Features Of Space Expansion Feature Space Expansion Firstly the feature space would be increased in dimension, by the addition of new features. Due to the analysis done on feature production, it was noted that by generalising feature production and consumption (in the neural network), a lot of time could be saved in the long run. This meant when the feature space was to be expanded, it would be important to create the feature production in a scalable manner. Neural Network Expansion Secondly, the neural network would be extended from a simple input output neural network to one with a variable number of inputs, layers, and hidden neurons. The addition of more layers would allow more complex planes to partition the feature space as sometimes simple planes cannot adequately classify data. For example, consider the classification of a data set similar to the output of a XOR gate. Consider four input data points of (0, 0), (0, 1), (1, 0), and (1, 1), with respective outputs 0,1,1,0, where 1 represents positive classification, and 0 represents negative classification. This provides an example of a classification which has very high error when classified without a hidden layer. This is because a linear combination of the input coefficients can only define a partition which is a straight line. Any linear partition of these inputs can at most correctly classify three of four data points. This is because the data points are linearly inseparable. However, with a more complex neural network, such as one with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Effects of Gunpowder on Warfare Essays The discovery of gunpowder changed war from being fought with medieval weaponry and battle tactics to more modern day weapons and tactics because the gunpowder powered weapons are more deadly. Weapons that use gunpowder to launch projectiles have a greater range than melee weapons and are more powerful than bow and arrows. Also, cannons are more powerful and have a greater range and accuracy than catapults and they also can be reloaded faster than catapults. Gunpowderweapons changed war because they are stronger, more accurate, have a greater range and are able to be reloaded faster than medieval weaponry. Gunpowder was invented long before the Europeans were introduced to it. Gunpowder was invented by the Chinese in the ninth century . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The long range infantry weapon of the 1700 s was the musket. The musket is stronger than the bow and arrow. The kinetic energy and momentum of an 18mm musket ball shooting from a Brown Bess musket are 1460 joules and 9.36 kg*m/s. The kinetic energy and momentum of an arrow being shot from a bow are 16.5 joules and 1.15 kg*m/s. The musket ball clearly has a much stronger momentum and kinetic energy than the arrow, which means it has more stopping power. Firearms of the 1700 s also have much greater maximum range than bows and arrows. If a Brown Bess was fired at a forty five degree angle in a frictionless environment, the musket ball would travel 9783 meters. If a bow fired it s arrow at forty five degrees in a frictionless environment, it would travel only one hundred and nineteen meters. The musket has more than eighty two times the maximum range of the bow and arrow. Some might say that bows and arrows are stronger than muskets, but that is not entirely true. Most people refer to muskets and rifles of the eighteen and nineteenth century only as smooth bore barrel muskets. Muskets barrels later became rifled in the nineteenth century and are much more accurate than their smooth bore relatives. Not only are muskets more lethal than bows and arrows, but cannons and artillery are more lethal than medieval catapults. Not only are gunpowder powered infantry weapons more deadly than medieval infantry weapons, but gunpowder powered artillery is more lethal than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rent To Work Financial literacy, defined as the understanding about individual or family finances and the application of the skills to make responsible financial decisions, is one of the progressive economic courses for individuals and families facing a financial crisis (Delgadillo, 2014). The topics investigated in this literature review include the importance of financial education for all clients, the effectiveness of financial literacy, and different approaches to financial literacy classes. The relevance to social work involves several principles from the NASW Code of Ethics, specifically service, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, social justice, and competence (Code of Ethics, 2008). • 5. Descriptive Narrative Essay It s hard to explain, the feelings and thoughts I had that day. Immense joy, and yet towering fear. So many words come to mind, looking back on it now. I felt alienated, yet accepted. I felt accepted, with the other women standing by me. I felt alienated by the immense amount of mens eyes on us. A penetrating stare, as though we didn t belong. Anxious, yet eager. It s nerve wracking being the first, being a leader. But I knew this was my place. Superior, yet inferior. Superior, with that crisp uniform upon my body. Inferior, the mens eyes. June 28, 1976. The bus moves along, ascending into the mountains of colorado springs. Every bump makes my stomach tie into a knot even tighter than before. There is chatter, the sound of what we are. Teenage girls. I drift from the talk and find myself thinking back to what my father said so me so long before this day. They will rip you of all of your rights and hand them back to you one by one. I am prepared for it. I know that I am strong enough for the future coming my way. The Air Force Academy is my future. A particularly jostling bump brings my back into my seat. I join into the conversations as the bus continues its constant low hum and swaying motion. The girl across the aisle from me turns to me, Nervous, much? Taken aback, I ask her what she means. Your face, it looks a bit uh uneasy. Yeah, a little bit, I guess. And you aren t? I never said that I wasn t. She answered, a look of knowing seemed to shine in her ... • 7. Study of Milestone 3 s Mobile Phone Implementation Plan Milestone 3: Mobile Phone Implementation Plan Technology or Business Practices For Milestone to be successful with their mobile platform strategy their strength of integration needs to progress beyond TCP/IP and encompass the emerging technologies and standards that will lead to tablets becoming the dominant development platform of the future. At the center of these technologies are secured enterprise access encryption and remote management support including device wide wipe and replace security architectures (Gold, 2011). These technologies make it possible for Milestone to manage each of their applications remotely and also completely erase the contents of a device if it is lost or stolen. A second major design criterion is to create an effective Application Programmer Interface (API) architecture that allows for any of the Milestone applications and associated resource calls including database integrations to gain real time access speeds (Proffitt, 2011). The expectation customers have for smartphone and tablet PC access today includes real time performance at a minimum with periodic application updates not requiring reboot of the device required (The Economist, 2011). This is the new normal when it comes to device performance and requires an intensive level of integration within a given device in addition to database and system integration requirements. • 8. Big Bad Wolf Persuasive Essay Eating is a necessary commodity. Every living being has to eat in order to stay alive. In fact, you can only survive about 3 weeks without eating. Many animals don t receive backlash for the food they eat because, even us, human beings understand that it s necessary to obtain proteins. However, the Big, Bad Wolf will always be unfairly criticized for eating pigs. Even though society views the wolf as malicious, that is very far from the truth as proven in sources B, C, and H because the wolf deserves to eat food as much as the pigs do. You re obliged to feed yourself as much as any person or animal is. Food is such an essential item you could say that everyone deserves to eat. However, many tried to verbally attack the wolf in his decision of eating the pigs. Nevertheless, you re right, nobody should take accountability because wolves [decide to] eat cute animals (Source B). I m sure, If cheeseburgers were cute, folks would probably think you were Big and Bad (Source B). When interpreted, the comparison seems frugal, but in the larger picture it makes sense. My Desire to Work in Game Development As a child all I wanted to do was rule the world, I noticed early on in my childhood that all aspects of computer games development especially programming and games design could help me accomplish this. I have been playing computer games since before even the PlayStation 2 was released when my brother got a PlayStation from a another family member. For as much as I have enjoyed, experienced a wide range of platforms, games and retain my love for this form of entertainment. One of my favourite games of all time is Kingdom Hearts, on the PlayStation 2 and developed by Square (later Square Enix); it played brilliantly, was graphically superb and had a perfect soundtrack. My resolve of wanting to develop games in the future using the variety of platforms that would be available, in empowering new technology, I can see that computer games programme gives solid groundwork within computer science to determine ideal. It would give the necessary skills, knowledge to learn and evolve with and within growing industry. People research to find out facts and information, solutions to problems, and instructions on how to do things better. • 11. Symbolism In Tangerine By Edward Bloor Every day, people often get themselves in positions where they are presented with appearance known to be deceptive. Based on the appearance, a false truth hides beneath an exceptional display. People, objects, and buildings are entirely taken by people s perspectives. This is the theme that the book Tangerine illustrates. The novel Tangerine, written by Edward Bloor, is about Paul Fisher, a boy having to go through many situations where a false reality surrounds his life. Bloor uses Erik Fisher and the Tangerine County to reveal that reality is often far from what it appears to be. The first symbol Edward Bloor uses is Erik Fisher. Erik Fisher is a high school football star without impaired vision unlike his brother, Paul (Burch 27). As Paul finds out, his eyes were damaged from Erik. To begin, Moore summarizes the history of America with a satirical cartoon that depicts Americans as cowardly people. • 32. The Effect Of Divorce On Children The occurrence on divorce in our society today has left children emotionally and mentally hurt by this. More and more studies have been done on to see if divorce has an effect on children. I personally have had no effect of divorce, but I have had several friends who have been affected. I had little knowledge about how impactful divorcecan have an affect on someone until I started doing research on this topic. Divorce is very hard on people who have to deal with this. The articles I have found to do research on all have something new and exciting to bring to the table. Of the ones I have found, I believe they will help me to understand more of the struggles young children have to cope with during such a difficult time. I also found an interesting article about the fathers perspectives on divorce. It talked about how they still want to be apart of their children s lives and how hard it is to keep a strong relationship with their children. I felt like it would be good to include this article into my paper because it will help me to learn from the fathers side how they handle the situation. Throughout this paper, I disused the different effects divorce has on children, the various programs and coping strategies for the children, and fathers perspectives and motherchild relationships. All of these topics are very important to divorce and the articles from the researchers did a great job of talking about these topics. Effects on Children of Divorced Families Much of the ... In 2000, CEMEX reduced electrical consumption by 160,000 megawatts, which, with the combination of alternative fuels; reduced CO2 emissions by 263,000 tonnes (Wilson, Chang 2003). CEMEX is now actively committed to reducing carbon emissions in order to achieve environmental sustainability, We acknowledge the local and global challenges posed by climate change, and are committed to applying our skills, technologies, and determination to reduce the contribution of our operations and our industry to climate change (CEMEX 2012). This commitment helps to satisfy the demand from society and stakeholders to reduce carbon emissions. The efforts of CEMEX are commendable and will certainly help with the overall reduction of CO2; however it is questionable whether or not the burning of alternative fuels is a sustainable solution. The European Commission and UN Intergovernmental Panel on climate change claim state that only biomass fuels such as wood or sewage sludge should be considered carbon neutral, and that the burning of tyres and household waste may be worse than fossil fuels (ENDS Report 2008). The first story is about a twelve year old boy named Justin who lives in Tambura Sudan infected with a single cell parasite called a trypanosome also known as the sleeping disease. Zimmer explains that the parasite is transmitted by two different hosts the tsetse fly and humans. The infection cycle starts with the tsetse fly drinking human s blood pouring in Trypanosomes. The trypanosomes then steal oxygen and glucose invading all the organs including the brain. Sleeping sickness gets its named from the way trypanosomes disorder people brains by damaging the biological clock and turning day to night. Justin had to take some injections of melarsoprol which contains twenty percent of arsenic and steroids for swelling. This brutal procedure was followed because Justin had parasitesin his brain. The second story took place a few months after his trip to Sudan. Biologist Daniel Brooks guided Zimmer and seven other biologists through a jungle in Costa Rica. Brooks caught several different types of frogs to look under a microscope, most of the parasites were new to science. Zimmer then goes into detail of how the book Parasite Rex Inside the Bizarre World of Nature s Most Dangerous Creatures is about a new study of life and that it has taken a long time for scientist to appreciate the sophisticated adaptation parasites have made to the inner world. • 37. Comparison Of Drummer Hodge And I Look Into My Glass By... Thomas Hardy was a poet and novelist from the 19th century. He was born in June 1840, and he had wrote over 800 poems in his lifetime, a lot of which were published in his latter years. I am going to compare and contrast two of his poems: Drummer hodge and I Look into my glass. Drummer Hodge is a poem about a young man who tragically lost his life in the Boer war. Hardy heard news about the death of the young drummer who was from Dorchester in wessex (the region that Hardy most commonly wrote about) The drummers in the war could often be as young as thirteen or fourteen, as they would be dishonest about their age to the recruitment officers. Hodge is not the drummer s name; it was often a nickname given to agricultural workers at this period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both poems use the abab structure, have three stanzas and concentrate on the theme of death. Whilst the poem of Drummer hodge has the backdrop of a huge landscape, I look into my glass portrays the sufferings of a melancholy man who is writing in self pity. The language differs a lot between the two pems as Drummer Hodge is a external pem that can easily be imagined however I look into my glass is not only internalised it is introverted. Hodge himself wouldnt of wanted to die so young while Hardy felt he had lived his life and wanted it to come to an end, this displays a huge contrast between the poems. In I look into my glass the coldness of other people s hearts is emphasised by the assonance of grown cold and then lonely in the next line. It also underlines Hardy s grieving with the words steals and eve . Assonance cannot be found in Drummer Hodge as I believe he is telling a story while in I look into my glass he truly wants sympathy for himself from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Employers have a legitimate interest in monitoring their employees in the workplace. Besides efficiency and productivity, employers want to protect their agencies from possible employee misconduct, fraud, and misrepresentation. Current legal trends seem to indicate that employer interests are going to be given deference, especially if the workplace continues to experience signs of increased destructive behaviors (thefts, workplace violence, copyright infringement, etc.). At times, employee surveillance is viewed as absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, there are virtually no clear cut laws that regulate employee monitoring in the workplace. In order to protect yourself, understand your employer s policy on employee monitoring and know your privacy rights if your employer abuses monitoring in the workplace. In the following years, Hitler would take power as FГјhrer and the Nazi party would create laws that pretty much allowed them to kill eleven million people. While the anti semitic laws and the laws against undesirables were horrible, they were still laws. The truth of the matter was that Hitler belonged to the Nazi partyand it was a legitimate political party with a substantial following; and their laws were enacted legally. In this essay, I will explain how both Hart s and Fuller s theories play into why I believe that the Nazis had laws. It begins with Hart s idea of a sovereign body enacting legitimate laws and the complexity of the people following despite the immorality of the laws and ends with the laws becoming nullified as they lose respect. I will also address the idea that the Nazi s power didn t have legitimate laws because they went against laws that came before them. Hart, often credited as being the father of modern legal positivism , built his ideas off the legal positivists who came before him: Jeremy Bentham and John Austin. Hart took their ideas and softened their especially Austin s harder, more cynical view that laws were purely followed because of a the threat coming from a reigning power. The narrator seems to be relating the time when, in excitement and jubilation of the athlete s win, they carried him home in glory. The British made this worse by continuing to get deep into Indian affairs, even after the 1783 Treaty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the gold rush, the best way to travel was by land, although there were many dangers ahead including Indians, bad weather, and a lack of water. They traveled in caravans, and because of the long journey many wagon wheels broke, and some belongings had laid abandoned. There were many ways to obtain gold, there was panning, washing, and mining. When you would pan for gold, you would go to side of a river or runoff, and put the pan in the water and try to obtain some of the gold pieces in your pan. When you would wash for gold, you would dig a large portion out of the ground, and wash the dirt out through the holes, so you could the gold. With mining you would find some in a cave, and use your pickaxe and mine it. Overall this book told me some very interesting facts about history, and really told me some things I didn t ... • 55. The Multiplier Online Games ( Mog ) 1. Introduction: Multiplier Online Games (MOG) are one kind of real time applications. These are developed using either centralized architecture (Client Server Architecture) also known as traditional architecture or using distributed architecture (Peer to Peer Architecture). Some games are developed using a combination of these two architectures known as Mirrored Server Architecture (Hsu, Ling, Li, Kuo, 2003). In general, games are two types. One is role based playing games where players role is fixed. Other is real time strategy based games where player s actions dynamic. The Quake, Galaxy Star Wars, EVE, Warcraft are some examples of multiplayer online games (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). For entertainment purpose and for a virtual experience, people are showing greater interest in MOG. In recent years, organizations started to using distributed architecture or Peer to Peer (P P) architecture for developing MOG due to its robustness, scalability, and flexibility. The well known traditional client serverarchitecture has limited scalability and robustness and it requires the high cost to maintain servers when online players are massive (Merabti Rhalibi, 2004). The MOG requires two kinds of platforms. One is physical platform contain hardware and network. Another is logical platform focuses on system architecture such as software development for players and hosts according to hardware management. The theme of the logical platform is providing best gaming software with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Adolescence Substance Abuse Being an adolescent myself and having a first hand perspective on adolescent substance abuse, I feel that I have a certain perspective on the substance abuse and misconduct issues that others may not. An old friend of mine went through these issues, with continuous and serious substance abuse along with conduct problems. Personally, I believe that there is a serious lack of justification to begin abusing substances, however, I understand that there are many factors that are involved when developing an SUD. In this day and age there is so much information surrounding substances at one s fingertips, the consequences are clearly outlined in numerous online websites, and television ads, making most people very aware. I do consider the backgrounds... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel that this is an important comparison due to the fact that parents usually have a greater knowledge surrounding substance abuse and conduct issues, because they have had enough time to experience and view these situations. It is also important due to the close relationships that parents have with their children. The perspectives differ in a great way depending on the parent and adolescent. Undoubtedly, there is not a parent that would wish a SUD or conduct issues on their child, however, adolescents can see this as a punishment to their parent. In the particular situation that I experienced my friend and her mother had unequivocal opposing perspectives on the matter, the adolescent saw substance abuse as a minor action, with minor consequences, to gain that temporary euphoric state of mind, and to cope with difficult circumstances; while the mother saw this substance abuse as a major action, with major, life threatening consequences. While the mother believed all of this, there was almost a lack of following through with the situation, she didn t want to believe that her daughter could be doing all of these things, so she chose not to see it. I believe that the perspectives of each group differ due to the considerable age gap and different experiences, while one group (the adolescent) is enduring hardships during school time, the other group (the parent) could have had different experiences in school, or has been graduated so long that the hardships of school are forgotten. The gap of age is important also due to the mother having more first hand experiences and perspectives on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. The Conflict of Gene Patents Patents are licenses granted by the government that give permission to an inventor the right to rent, hire, or sell his invention. In the science community gene patents have created conflict between those who believe that patents have helped science and those who believe it is actually hindering science advances. Genes are important because they are the heredity of a living organismand it is given from a parent to their offspring. Scientist study genes to find cures for the many diseases found in the world. Unfortunately gene patents focus on the commercial side, therefore I believe gene patents should be banned. In this essay, I will outline arguments for and against gene patents. There have been many cases that have raised the public s awareness over gene patents. It was recently brought to attention again in the case of Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics (2013), when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that companies cannot patent naturally occurring forms of DNA; they can only patent artificial produced DNA. Naturally occurring genes are genes found on living organisms while artificial genes are products of genetic material that occur when a gene has been isolated and they cannot be found in an organism. There are many commercial uses of gene sequences for example in agriculture a particular product such as rice contains genes once scientist isolates and clones them, he can find uses for those genes, such as being able immune to particular ...
