Short overview on the evolution of NFC to accommodate broader IoT use cases including security, two-factor authentication and other applications of long range, low power wireless networking.
More details on implementing broadcast/multicast messaging in IoT networking running Haystack + DASH7 networking software. Also implementing CBOR to enable queries over MQTT.
An overview of Haystack's security features for low power IoT networks. Unlike most IoT stacks, when Haystack invented DASH7, security was an a priori principle and led to the most secure networking stack available in the low power, wide area networking (LPWAN) space today.
Haystack XR Mode radically improves the range of IoT devices using Semtech's LoRa radio. Using the same error correction used in deep space probes along with other techniques, Haystack offers the longest range, lowest power, and lowest latency networking stack for LoRa today.
Emerging LTE standards for IoT lack a networking stack for true real-time, low power networking. A simple add-on to the existing TCP/IP stack makes a difference.

DDS (Data Distribution Service) over Low Bandwidth Data Links: Tactical Radios, Satellite, etc.
DDS implementations are widely used in defense and aerospace applications, being common to use very low bandwitdh data links.
This presentation explain how to achieve good performance in these scenarios.
Recently published research (July 2019) has described a model for Bit Error Rate (BER) analysis of the LoRa PHY over a Rayleigh flat fading channel. Rayleigh flat fading channels are observable in environments where there’s a lot of multipath interference (e.g. dense urban, indoor, etc).
The LoRa PHY experiences significant degradation of sensitivity in Raleigh flat fading channels
Experimentation in an environment exhibiting Raleigh flat fading validates the model from the research.
Haystack XR2 encoding for LoRa was observed to yield roughly 30 dB gain to Packet Error Rate (PER) vs. default LoRaWAN encoding, in said experiment.
Haystack XR2 encoding for LoRa can yield enormous gains to efficiency, Quality of Service (QoS), and channel density for LoRa deployments in dense urban, indoor, or other environments where multipath dominates.

eProsima RPC over DDS - OMG June 2013 Berlin MeetingJaime Martin Losa
DDS is being increasingly selected as the foundation of many mission- and business-critical systems. Some of these systems are designed to be completely data-centric and asynchronous, while others prefer to maintain some interactions (such as placing an order, performing a computation, etc.) as traditional client/server, request/reply, interactions. As such, many DDS users would like to define Services as a collection of operations/methods, and invoke methods using DDS as the transport for requests, replies and exceptions.
This talk will introduce eProsima RPC for DDS, a high performance Remote Procedure Call framework based on DDS, 100% standards-based and open source.
Wireless IoT connections fall into two low-power camps: local area and wide area. Historically the two have not overlapped but advances in networking technologies make it possible for wide area technologies to perform the same functions as local area technologies with no additional cost or feature "sacrifice".
How new Low Power Wireless Area Networks (LPWAN's) are aggressively challenging the Internet of Things status quo and how industry can exploit this opportunity. Specifically, the ability to query IoT endpoints in real time, improve network capacity and data rates, and the ability to deploy a filesystem in order to create a "Hadoop"-like real-time query capability at the edge of the network is explored.

M2M Protocols for Constrained Environments in the Context of IoT: A Compariso...Edielson P. Frigieri
The Internet of Things movement opens new possibilities for services and business along with new technological challenges, such as power efficiency, operation in constrained environments, security, and privacy. With the expectation of a high amount of devices connected in this Future Internet, scalability is also assumed to be a challenge. To address these limitations, several protocols are being proposed. In this paper, two of them, MQTT and COAP, are presented and qualitatively compared, summarizing their main features and limitations, highlighting the best scenarios where each approach is more suitable.

Modelling Machine Type Communicationin IEEE 802.11ah NetworksEvgeny Khorov
Wi-Fi was originally designed to provide broadband
wireless Internet access for devices which generate rather heavy
streams. And Wi-Fi succeeded. The coming revolution of the
Internet of Things with myriads of autonomous devices and
machine type communications (MTC) traffic raises a question:
can the Wi-Fi success story be repeated in the area of MTC?
Started in 2010, IEEE 802.11 Task Group ah (TGah) has
developed a draft amendment to the IEEE 802.11 standard,
adapting Wi-Fi for MTC requirements. The performance of novel
channel access enhancements in MTC scenarios can hardly be
studied with models from Bianchi’s clan, which typically assume
that traffic load does not change with time. This paper contributes
with a pioneer analytical approach to study Wi-Fi-based MTC,
which can be used to investigate and customize many mechanisms developed by TGah.
This is a slideshow for paper Evgeny Khorov, Alexander Krotov, Andrey Lyakhov.

The communication part is targeted to apply only to public safety use. The partial network coverage and out of network coverage scenarios apply only to public safety use. The work will proceed from the starting point of the agreements and working assumptions reached during the study item as captured in TR 36.843.

Enhancing Wireless Communication using Software-Defined Radio Architecture Onyebuchi nosiri
Abstract – Software-Defined Radio (SDR) is a rapidly evolving technology that is receiving enormous recognition and generating widespread interest in the telecommunication industry. It facilitates implementation of the physical and link layer protocols-in effect entire wireless system,-in software. A side effect of the rapid growth of wireless system technology in the recent past is an excess of wireless system standards. Therefore the SDR concept is emerging as a pragmatic solution. It aims to build flexible radio systems which are multiple-Defined Radio architectures as a prototyping, tool for wireless baseband signal processor implementations is explored. Signal processing implementations is explored. Signal processing architectures and algorithms for the physical layer of IEEE 802.11g- the latest release from the popular IEEE family of wireless standards-is developed and simulated in Matlab and Simulink. The integrity of the developed model is verified by measurement of the constellation versus signal to noise ratio (SNR) and Bit error Rate (BER) versus SNR graph, which are reported. The IEEE 802.11g PHY model is then translated to software (C++) with the aid of Real-Time workshop software tool. The generated codes can then be targeted on a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) or other programmable hardware modules.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Modern RF interface chipsets are
primarily digital.
DASH7 uses GFSK modulation,
which is similar to NFC modulation.
- Digital blocks remain intact
In concept, adding DASH7 to NFC is accomplished by adding an
Integer-N PLL and a small number of analog switches.
- Integer-N PLL for 13.56 MHz input with:
Divider Ref = 128, Multiplier N = 4096 ± 7
- Analog switches to tune antenna at 13.56 or 433
- DASH7 uses much less output power than NFC
433 MHz DASH7 spectrum is low enough and narrow enough
that normal SiO2 fabrication is OK.
