6. Adverb Modifiers of nouns, verbs, other adverbs Often tell when, where why, under what conditions Frequently (not always) end in –ly Examples: He drove quickly home. The car was very fast. The concert went by quite quickly.

7. Preposition Links nouns, pronouns, phrases Indicates temporal, spatial, logical relationships Over 100 English prepositions: Around, along, between, beyond, near, over, outside.. Etc etc The trees are beside the house.

8. Conjunction A joiner word connects ( or conjoins) parts of a sentence Simple, little= coordinating And, but, or, yet, for, nor, so Subordinating conjunction= relationship between dependent clause and sentence Unless we act now, all is lost. 9. Interjection A word added to a sentence to convey emotion. No grammatical relationship to anything else “Wow! That snowflake is beautiful.” “Oh no, I don’t want to go shovel more snow!”
