Comparing Macbeth And Throne Of Blood

Character Comparison: Macbeth Throne of Blood
In the tragic play by Shakespeare, The Tragedy of Macbeth Macbeth, and the Japanese film, Throne of
Blood, many characters are direct parallels of each other. There are many similarities and yet, key
differences within each of the characters. Macbeth and Washizu share many of the same character
traits, as do their wives, Lady Macbeth and Asaji, respectively. We can also see these similarities
between Banquo and Miki and the three witches and the Forest Spirit. Macbeth and Washizu are
subject to their ambition and fear as they ascend to kingship, while Lady Macbeth and Asaji are
plagued by their desire for social status and wealth. Banquo and ... Show more content on

They both have the will to manipulate and command the actions of their husbands and show
tremendous resolve to gain wealth and status. However, there are some key differences between Lady
Macbeth and Asaji. Lady Macbeth s mental health takes longer to decline into almost complete
insanity. We see Lady Macbeth struggling with her position after becoming Queen. She is stressed
about keeping the throne secure and is not as happy as she thought she might be. It takes a while but
eventually she cracks and has somewhat of a mental breakdown. Asaji on the other hand keeps her
composure throughout most of the film. She is obviously concerned about succeeding in her
endeavors but she was able to keep her focus unlike Lady Macbeth. It is only very suddenly that she
suffers the same fate as Lady Macbeth. Both women are found washing nonexistent blood from their
hands while sleepwalking. One other crucial difference between the two women is their role as women
within their respective societies. Lady Macbeth does not wish to be treated like a woman at all. At one
point in the play she even says, Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill
me from the crown to the toe topful of direst cruelty! (Shakespeare 1.5:40 44) Asaji takes a vastly
different path when it comes to her role as a woman. Her body language within the film shows that
she is willing to take on her role as a prominent

Hyphen Analysis
Living on a Hyphen: Examining the Fluidity of Identity and Belonging Within a Bicultural Context in
Ruth Ozeki s A Tale For the Time Being
In A Tale For the Time Being, Ozeki Ruth uses the character of Nao to portray the struggles of
negotiating between two distinct cultures and what it means to live on a hyphen. The hyphen
represents disconnection and connection simultaneously. Liu defines hyphenated identity as involving
the coexistence, rather than the merging of two cultures (33). In other words, two distinct entities
belong together, but never successfully merge into one because the individual finds it difficult to fully
associate with either of the two cultures. In Ozeki s novel we witness how bicultural experiences
shape Nao s sense of identity and belonging as she grapples with the complexities of moving from one
country to another.
For first generation immigrants in North America, acceptance into the mainstream society requires
them to learn or improve their English language skills and adapt to its cultural practices (Liu 1). Liu
believes second generation immigrants are better equipped to accomplish this because they are either
born in the host country or migrated at a young age (1). When Nao s family moved to Sunnyvale, Nao
learned English quickly and internalized American values and norms. Nao was young and had no
memory of Japan from when [she] was a baby (43), which explains her rapid adjustment to America.
Unlike her parents, Nao never had a

My Statement Of Purpose For Learning English
Statement of Purpose
One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way. Franck
Smith
My interest in learning English is due to the fact that I have always liked to challenge myself. Even
though many of my friends and family warned me from majoring in English, as it would be difficult
for me, I have accepted the challenge. I have always felt that learning English would increase myself
confidence and have people around me impressed. This interest has also grown through my passion in
learning about languages, cultures, and traditions. Where I come from, Saudi Arabia, a big number of
people came from different countries and spoke different languages. I have realized that English could
be a means to interact with a lot of people speaking different languages. I have also realized that
English is the lingua franca of today s world with no close rivals. Learning English actually ... Show

Horace Mann Influence On American Education
All schools in the twenty first century are different from each other, may it be how much a student
learns, preparedness for after school, and teaching methods and philosophies of education. Some
schools are on the direction students to work in education, while others are geared to become future
doctors, lawyers, and business leaders. Horace Mann between 1837 and 1848, became the best known
educator in America, and the best known American educator throughout the world. He had a vision for
what the future of America s education should look like today, and today s education does not fulfill
that vision. My education up to this point has been what you would expect out of an upper class

mythical figure who deliver presents to good children all over the world on Christmas Eve (24th

question is, does he exist? Would it be possible that Santa Claus is just an ordinary man who delivers

With all the definitions above it is still impossible to completely understand the situation of Kaplan
with his daughter s statement. The belief of Ari cancels out the statement abundantly; thus, making it a
paradox statement. The reason for this is due to the statement and the situation, even though both of
the statements are true, they cannot be true at the same time, in other words it is self contradictory. It is
such a great irony that the attention grabbing sentence of Kaplan s daughter leads to no further
discussion in the book; nonetheless, the same theories Kaplan uses to explain the existence of Santa
can too be useful to unlocking the paradoxical sentence. It is not surprising to find a paradox statement
or situation as the world itself it full of paradox. Applying Kaplan s ideas and theories to the statement

Internal System Controls And Application Controls
Internal System Controls
Introduction
Now a days businesses rely mostly on technology. However, there are risks that business information
systems face such as human input errors, transactions or data input that are improperly approved prior
to data input, and input controls that do not provide assurance that all transactions are initially
captured and recorded; these risks are all categorized as data origin risks. Business organizations
combat this and other risks using General Controls and Application Controls. Please keep reading to
find out what this controls are and how this controls are used, as well as learn about other risks that
business face and their respective categories.

Analysis Of On Keeping A Notebook By Joan Didion
ON KEEPING A NOTEBOOK RHETORICAL ANALYSIS The point of keeping a notebook has
never been, nor is it now to have an accurate factual record of what I have been doing or thinking.
Author, Joan Didion, in her essay, On Keeping a Notebook explains how to keep a notebook and why.
Didion s purpose is to inform us on how she keeps a notebook and why notebooks are useful in
helping us to remember events that happened in the past. She adopts a sentimental tone in order to
emphasize how many memories are kept alive by keeping a notebook. Didion uses ethos, pathos, and
different rhetorical devices in her essay to explain her point. Didion uses ethos appeals. She explains
in the first paragraph all of her accomplishments. She is the author of novels, short stories, screen
plays, and essays. She began as a staff writer for Vogue Magazine in New York in 1956. Run River
was her first novel published in 1963. Her collection of essays includes On Keeping a Notebook ,

Political Fictions, Fixed Ideas: America Since 9.11, and Where I Was From, were all written and
published within the next twenty four years (paragraph 1). In the essay On Keeping a Notebook ,

Meaning And Definition Of Ledger By J. R. Batliboi
Meaning and Definition of Ledger
According to J.R. Batliboi , The ledger is the chief of accounts and it is in this book that all the
business transactions would ultimately find their place under their accounts in a duly classified form.
A Ledger should be kept in the form of bound register, or in the form of cards or in punched sheets or
it can be in the form of loose leaf binder. Every account in the ledger is opened preferably or it can be
in a separate page or card
These all business transactions are first recorded in Journal or Special Purpose Subsidiary Books. The

Political Ideology In Pakistan Research Paper
Ideology
Ideology is a comprehensive set of normative beliefs, conscious and unconscious ideas, that an
individual, group or society has. In social studies, a political ideology is a certain ethical set of ideals,
principles, doctrine or symbols of a social movement, or a large group that explains how a society
should work .1 Political ideologies are concerned with many different aspects of society including the
economy, education, health care, justice system and foreign policy.
There are two dimensions to political ideologies:
Goals
Methods
Goals refer to beliefs of a party about how a government and country should work and methods refers
to the path a party may take to achieve them.

This essay will be examining the key arguments for the existence of God, in order to discuss the claim
that it is wrong to believe in anything without sufficient evidence with reference to the non existence
of God. It will be exploring both a priori and an a posteriori argument for the existence of God. It will
solely be concentrating on the Theological argument, Cosmological argument and the Ontological
argument, in order, to analyse their significance and contribution in vindicating the claim for the
existence of God. The essay will begin by providing a clear philosophical characterisation of the God

The Teleological argument is a posteriori and inductive argument. It is based on the observation of
order in the world, and that the complexity of the universe shows evidence of design. This design
implies a designer; capable and sentient, and this designer is God. The argument is split into two parts:
design qua purpose and design qua regularity (Jordan, et al., 2002). Design qua regularity looks at the
evidence of design, found in the order and regularity in the universe (Jordan, et al., 2002). It was first
developed in the 13th century by St Thomas Aquinas, who in his fifth way in Summa Theologica,
argued that the world of nature is like an arrow shot from an archer s bow, it has direction and purpose
even if it lacks awareness as some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to
their end: and this being we call God (Aquinas, 2009, p. 23). William Paley, another key contributor in
of the Teleological argument, uses the planetary movements and Newton s laws of motion are also
specific examples to provide evidence for design qua regularity part of the argument (Paley Ware,
1857).
Design qua purpose looks at the evidence of design in relation to the ways in which the parts of the
universe appear to fit together for some purpose. William Paley put forward the most famous form of
the design qua purpose argument in his book Natural Theology (Paley Ware, 1857). Paley used the
analogy of a watch and suggested

The Normal Heart Rate Of A Daphnia Magna
Introduction The purpose of this lab was to determine the normal heart rate of a Daphnia Magna and
decipher the different effects that various substances had on it. A Daphnia Magna is a species of water
fleas and can be located in the Northern United Sates against the coastline of the Atlantic in rocky
pools. The water flea s habitat consists of rivers and streams, temporary pools, lakes and ponds, and
brackish water. The Daphnia Magna range from two to five millimeters in length and are shaped like a
kidney bean (Elenbaas, Molly). Relating to this lab experiment we learned in class that the normal
heart rate is measured anywhere between 60 and 100 beats per minute (BPM). If your resting BPM is
measured at a level above the number 100 it is known as Tachycardia. This term indicates that your
heart level has exceeded the normal range. Also if your heart rate is indicated below 60 then it is
called Bradycardia, which means the heart is beating slower than normal. When your heart rate is
affected by a substance in the body it is called a Chronotropic agent. When the heart rate decreases
because of a substance or chemical it is called a negative Chronotropic and when it is affected
oppositely by increasing it is known as a positive Chronotropic agent. In this experiment we added
many different substances to the slide on which the water flea was placed to calculate the increase or
decrease in its heart rate due to the ingredients in the substances. The first substance used was

Maglev Consequences Essay
Maglev Consequences
Magnetically levitated ground transportation, or quot;maglev, quot; is an advanced mode of surface
high speed transportation whereby a vehicle gliding above a guide track is suspended, guided, and
propelled by magnetic forces.
Because they never touch the guide track causing friction, maglev vehicles can be designed to travel at
extremely high speeds, 500 kilometers per hour (300 miles per hour), or more!
Americans traveled 3.2 trillion passenger kilometers (2 trillion passenger miles) by car, truck, bus, and

Also the cost of a maglev trip will be less so that even with the longer trips where the maglev vehicles
don t have the time advantage they will have the cost advantage.
Because land is costly and scarce, adding more highway lanes and building new airports in or near our
larger cities is becoming increasingly difficult. For example, adding new highway capacity in urban
areas typically costs more than $15 million per land mile, and a new Denver airport is estimated to
cost $3 to 4 billion.
Current transportation technologies are petroleum dependent, accounting for 64 percent of total
petroleum use. Without transportation alternatives that reduce petroleum dependency, transportation
related petroleum use is expected to remain high 36 percent above our own US petroleum production,
so we will have to get the oil from other countries which will raise taxes on oil imports, possibly
creating national security problems.
High speed ground transportation systems are capable of approaching the speed of airplane flight
while offering some of the flexibility of the automobile, such systems can provide added capacity in
dense corridors around the world. Because of its very high speed, it will be more likely to attract
medium distance air travelers and highway drivers than high speed rail.

A Comparison Of The World Trade Center Attack In 1993 And...
The first World Trade Center Attack in 1993 and the Boston Marathon Attack in 2013 are two
significant attacks that share some similarities and difference. Although horrific, both attacks provide
useful information to combat terrorism in the future. In a way, the World Trade Center Attack
influenced the Boston Marathon Attack, and there is even an indirect link between the two attacks.
Observing how the occurrences resembled one another, and interpreting the way technology has
changed will provide some insight.
First, the World Trade Center Attack was perpetrated by the terrorist organization Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda
is a notorious, organized, and established group of radical Islamists. Al Qaeda has influenced
numerous other terrorist organizations in countries around the world. They have access to massive
resources, regarding both people, technology, know how, and weapons. Al Qaeda has been on the
intelligence radar for many years.
In contrast, the two subjects that committed the Boston Marathon Attack, later identified as the
Tsarnaev brothers, were not formally affiliated with any terrorist organization. They were self funded,
and their resources were limited. They were also relatively unknown to United States Intelligence,
although Russian Intelligence did have information that the brothers were potentially involved in
terrorist activity. The brothers were young immigrants with little to no criminal backgrounds or
experience.

Nike is one of the largest most popular sports/athletic brands worldwide. They are number one

now has a market value of almost $30 million, and does seem to be stopping growth (Nike Inc, 2017).
Created in 1964, Nike has continuously grown adding many diffusion lines to their brand to be more
distinct for different sports. Not only does Nike encompass almost all sports, but also they have
brilliant marketing and their trademark Just Do it partnered with the swoosh logo, which is endorsed

south Asian countries. Their ethical integrity was compromised and many consumers would not buy

Roles Of Women In The 1900 s
Women played a very distinct, yet changing role at the end of the 1800s. With that role they also
saturated the realm of art, almost completely eclipsing men. This dominance of the female figure in art
was partly the fault of the arguably chauvinistic attitude that the turn of the century male had in regard
to women. Women of the late 1800 s into the early 1900 s were an extension of the man s success and
station in so ciety. They were to be beautiful and helpless, completely reliant on the man. Their posi

in the Art Nouveau movement. His images for Job cigarette papers as well as his depictions of

The Chimera of Ethnic Humour
Humour has always had the ability as long as anyone can remember to bring people together and unify
them to become closer and better acquainted. As humour developed over time different categories of
humour appeared. Ethnic humour is one of the categories that was created decades ago and continues
to be widely used in present day comedy. The concept of ethnic, racial, and gender humour is as
sensitive a subject today as it has ever been; and yet there has never been such a prolific quantity of
this humour as there is in current day society. It manifests in American culture s films and stand up
comedy routines, as well as on popular TV sitcoms. Ethnic humour is one of the only types of humour
that can bring laughter and joy to people while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience for this annihilated single system with N incongruity (Davis 28). The joke sets up a
system of the debate on abortion throughout the world. The unexpected and an incongruity then occur
with unnatural responses and the system is broken and this is what triggers the laughter. The style and
way the joke is set up can closely be compared to many other categories of jokes. But what sets ethnic
jokes apart is how the system it creates makes a person think of an ethnic group, then commonly has a
play on that ethnic cultures common stereo types which are often very biased and racist. Furthermore,
another way that this joke can be analyzed and viewed is through Lois Leveen s perspective. Leveen
points out, That if the teller and the audience of the joke are non Jewish the joke has a sense of
prejudice and is hyper critical. However, if the teller and audience of the joke were Jewish, the joke
would then be comprehended in a different light. The Jewish would take the joke from someone
within their group and enjoy it because of a sense of pride, connecting Jewish life to elevated
expectancy they would be happy to be known for (Qtd. In Rapport. The Sword 1). This analysis that
Leveen gives sheds light on how it is feasible for ethnic jokes to have many different meanings;
depending on the content, teller and audience of the joke. Thus creating humour from one

Heckler s Veto Analysis
Lucia Valdivia is an assistant professor of English and Humanities at Reed College. In her article, she
talks about how the right to speak freely is not the same as the right to rob others of their voices. I
agree because, ultimately, everyone believes they are fighting for the right cause, so silencing the
other party s voice means we must silence all parties voices. The heckler s veto is defined as the
suppression of speech in order to appease disruptive, hostile, or threatening members of the audience,
(Gillman, Chemerinsky). This has been ruled time and time again as unconstitutional when speakers
are actually designated to speak in a private area. Although, in a public space, such as an open campus

What Are The Rewards In Walden Economy
In Walden Economy , Thoreau states that For a long time I was a reporter to a journal, of no very wide
circulation, whose editor has never yet seen fit to print the bulk of my contributions, and, as is too
common with writers, I got only my labor for my pains. However, in this case, my pains were their
own reward. This pain is written to be a reward for Thoreau. The reward that is received is the reward
of hard work and learning. Even though Thoreau had a very low job in the journalism industry, and
made many works for the business, many never saw the light of day. What is understood though, is
that he was not very angry or disappointed with the results, but instead found a sort of happiness or
reward . Through understanding, Thoreau ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This not only applies to his field of work but also applies to his life. Thoreau not only learned to write
better, but it also helps in forming habits that last a lifetime. The reward is much deeper than writing.
A life lesson only learned through failure is earned. The lesson is that through failure, you find
success. Many of history s greats have all learned the lesson and never stopped after their first failure,
but instead learned and continued to work hard to achieve their goals. This lesson of pain being a
reward is shown throughout my life. Through high school, grades never came easy, studying hard and
through plenty of gruesome hours was necessary for success. I struggled in applying myself to study
every night and took a more relaxed and fun approach to the high school life. This turned into failure
quickly and through the failure, I was forced to form study habits and get rid of many distractions.
This failure was required in understanding how to become successful through my academic career, as
well as life. This lesson is applied to me waking up every morning with a positive attitude and work

IMPORTANCE OF CULTIVATING A LIFESTYLE OF CONSISTENT HEALTH CHECKS The term
lifestyle can denote the interests, opinions, behaviors, and behavioral orientations of an individual,
group, or culture. More interestingly, a healthy or unhealthy lifestyle will most likely be transmitted
across generations. The way we live our life touches the comfort of our immediate and external
environment. Immediate environment in this context are the people we are living together with in our
various homes and neighborhood (i.e. Siblings, spouse, parents and children).External environment
are our offices, social gatherings, churches, mosques etc. Parents are the first teacher for every child.
Everything that parents do will be very likely transferred to their children through the learning
process. When a 0 3 year old child has a mother who practices a healthy lifestyle, this child will be
70% more likely to become healthy and adopt the same lifestyle. For instance, high income parents
are more likely to eat organic food, have time to exercise, and provide the best living condition to their
children. On the other hand, low income parents are more likely to participate in unhealthy activities
such as smoking to help them release poverty related stress and depression Today, deskbound and

How To Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse
In the United States alone, over fifteen million people abuse prescription drugs. Due to the rise in
prescription drug abuse, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Centers for Disease
Control (CDC) have declared the abuse as a crisis. A common misconception about prescription drugs
is that many people believe that they are safer than illegal drugs, such as heroin. However,
prescription drugs are only safe in the doses prescribed. If taken obsessively, then the drugs have the
potential to be just as dangerous as illegal substances. The most commonly abused prescription drugs
are opiates, better known as painkillers, which have been readily available to abusers and requires

Advertising for prescription opiates overlooks the fact that they are addictive. In a world filled with
technology, advertisements are everywhere. It is nearly impossible for many people to get through the
day without hearing at least one commercial. In the past several years, drug companies have begun to
advertise their products. Designed to appeal to the public, most ads do not disclose their faults.
However, in the dawn of the opioid crisis, states are beginning to question the lack of
acknowledgment of their drug s addictive history. The city of Chicago has sued several
pharmaceutical companies over misleading advertising. While some companies have reached an
agreement to disclose the risk of addiction with their products, advocates believe this does not solely
make a large impact on improving the opiate crisis. Adriane Fugh Berman, professor of pharmacology

pharmaceutical companies to get us out of this opioid mess is not likely to be successful, (qtd. in

Istj Personality Analysis
Succeeding in academics can be affected greatly by your personality. Being an ISTJ and having
sensing and judging as my two main personality traits certainly has both its up and downs. Ever since
I was a child, I have always been responsible, orderly, and statistical, and as time passed, these traits
become a natural habit. I see this as a strength since it had helped me significantly in my studies, but
some of these traits also restrict my creativity and often makes it difficult for me to look outside the
box. Sensors are great problem solvers, so when I am faced with a problem, I attempt to use the
information I have available to come up with the best solutions. Emotions rarely ever influence my
conclusions and perceptions, and I place a great deal of trust in my judgement, which is based mostly
off of logic and reasoning. I do not make assumptions, and instead, I prefer to observe my
surroundings and take a practical, well planned course of action. This causes me to have little
tolerance and patience for indecisiveness and intuitive judgments; I prefer to analyze the information

The Bronx Zoo, And The Botanical Gardens
When one thinks of the Bronx, we think of Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo, and the Botanical
Gardens. But ultimately, many neglect the Bronx as the poorest county, with the highest dropout rates,
and unemployment rates in the State of New York. I spent the last five years trying to fix some of
these issues, working especially with children from the ages of nine to seventeen with a nonprofit
organization called CBALL. We aim to empower young leaders and prevent children from falling
victim to the criminal culture that plague the Bronx. A direct correlation exists between the well being
of the residents in the Bronx and the crime rates. For example, seven out of the twenty New York City
neighborhoods with high violent crime rates come from the Bronx. As a future attorney, I would like
to attack this problem legally. Therefore, I actively swapped my ride along with Ben Cruz to intern
with the Bronx Defenders. Do to their stellar reputation; I was eager to see the Bronx Defender s
approach towards helping the borough. Also, my experience of that day impressed me and inspired me
to one day potentially work for the Bronx Defenders.
The Bronx Defenders impressed me with their holistic approach and resembled the work I do with

Ocean Acidification:
How the Ocean s Declining pH is Destroying Our Environment
Sometimes called climate change s equivalently destructive twin , ocean acidification is becoming
more and more noticeable as the seawater s changing chemistry begins to cause environmental and
economical problems. When the Industrial Revolution began around 1760, fossil fuel powered
machines gained an immense amount of accessibility and popularity. Since then, carbon dioxide
(CO2) levels in the atmosphere have risen enough to change the pH of the world s oceans. Given that
the ocean absorbs almost half of the CO2 that is released into our atmosphere, ocean acidification is
inclining into an even greater problem as fossil fuels become a more common energy source in our
society. Higher acid levels can harm wildlife, disrupt the food chain, and negatively impact industries
that rely on the ocean for business. Ocean acidification is causing growing dilemmas for both marine
ecosystems and ocean based economies. Although many companies and organizations are attempting
to fix this problem, acidification is still threatening to cause increasingly harmful issues for the future.
Ocean acidification is the constant increase of acidity in the Earth s oceans, caused by the unceasingly
rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Anthropogenic CO2 is mainly emitted by the
burning of fossil fuels, including coal, oil, and natural gas. Since the

John Brown s A Hero
John Brown Essay
What John Brown did was crazy and was suicidal; he did it because he knew the purpose of it and the
after effect of it. After the Harpers Ferry revolt Brown said that he doesn t feel no guilt for his actions.
He knew what people would characterize him as and he just doesn t care. He knows what affect and
toll it would take on people to see their own kind to stand up and fight for equality of a different race.
Most people would think he s crazy, but actually he s just trying to fight for justice to end slavery
because what he believes that is right.
The reason why I say he s a hero not a terrorist is because if you define a terrorist and line it up with
what John Brown believes in and what he wanted to accomplish then you would think he s a hero also.
See people got to remember the Harpers Ferry revolt wasn t the only slave revolt John Brown was
apart of, he was also apart of other attacks in different places. For example in his Conversation: Patriot
or Terrorist it says During what became known as the Pottawatomie Massacre and the Battle of
Osawatomie, Brown assumed the role of abolitionist leader and led violent attacks against proponents
of slavery. See that he wasn t just apart of one revolt and one attack like Osama Bin Laden was no he
was part of a couple attacks and battles. His mission was to free slaves and make the economy and
country better by allowing everyone to be treated equal and have equal rights. Like what we have sort

The Internet has also changed the way students learn. Online classes are more readily available
compared to several years ago. By means of online classes more adult students pursuing higher
education are able to make that dream become a reality. Students attending online classes offer
different viewpoints with fellow students and are able to communicate without feeling that a correct
answer needs to be given.
Of course the Internet brings lots of competition among retailers, which affects the supply conditions
within an industry. Companies overseas are able to place their products on the net, which in return
expands their market, and therefore sell to a larger area this causes force of lower prices and creates a
greater incentive for sellers to set apart their products or services.
The article emphasized on how changes in information technology can influence supply conditions in
the market with the following example, Encyclopedia Britannica. Encyclopedia Britannica at one
point was a very expensive set of research books that parents would purchase to help their child s
education, however now with the internet available with many free online encyclopedias, Britannica
has had to market their product other ways. They now have a CD ROM available, which contains
things such as video clips, audio clips, and pictures. This new Britannica format is less expensive as
the books.

The Effects Of The Watergate Scandal Of 1972
Some events in history have the power to linger over a nation and affect the world for years, the
Watergate Scandal of 1972 is one of them. The events that occurred on the morning of June 17, 1972
would have effects on American life and politics for years to come and ultimately lead to the downfall
of President Richard Nixon. The Watergate Scandal has proven to have had monumental effects on the
political culture of America. Although Nixon eventually resigned on August 9, 1974, the national
nightmare was not nearly over. Ever since the diminishment of Nixon s presidency: politics have
irrevocably lost its innocence, Americans have lost faith and trust in the government, and media has
become more aggressive with the evolution of journalism. The so called third rate burglary attempt
transpired on the morning of June 17, 1972. At this time Republican President Richard M. Nixon was
running for reelection and the United States was embroiled in the Vietnam War. On that memorable
day, five men broke into the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate Hotel in
Washington, D.C.. Consequently, those men were arrested for trying to bug and steal documents.
Optimistic voters believed there was no link between the president and the burglars and Nixon was
reelected. Initial investigations were heavily influenced by the media, particularly through the works

Eveline is one of the most limited stories that make up James Joyce s accumulation Dubliners (1914),
a volume that was not an underlying business achievement (it sold only 379 duplicates in its first year
of distribution, and 120 of those were purchased by Joyce himself). However Dubliners reclassified

The Middle Passage Analysis
In The Middle Passage Documentary by Steven Spielberg, the trans Atlantic slave trade is analyzed
and broken down to reveal the true horrors endured by millions of African Americans through the four
hundred years it occurred. Step by step, it travels through the journey the slaves suffered through,
from the initial capturing to the moments they arrived in America, only to be auctioned off as no more
than lowly farm animals. The documentary shows the overall journey of the Middle Passage and the
trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it in a different light. The novel
follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the horrors of the capture, forced
migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. Another perspective within the book is of a white girl
named Polly who is braving the hardships that come with being an indentured servant. Yet what both
the documentary and novel show are the unbreakable spirits of the ones who were forced to withstand
the barbarous actions of the people who imprisoned them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Religion Influence Ancient Egypt
The geographical location and the surrounding environment of Egypt heavily influenced the people of
Ancient Egypt s spiritual life and their religious belief in a multitude of ways. A central part of the
environment that contributed to Egyptian spiritual life and religious beliefs is the Nile River, a
foundation of their cosmology. Their religious belief stems from the myth of Ra, the sun god. The
belief is at the beginning of time the Nile brought a mound of silt where Ra, the highest deity among
the Egyptian gods. From Ra, the other gods emerged. The Nile River, to the Ancient Egyptians,
symbolized rebirth and renewal. The Nile also represented the belief in life after death. The story of
Osiris is directly connected to the Nile River, and the resurrection after death. Osiris, the god of the
underworld, was killed by his brother Set and his body was cut into small pieces and thrown into the

The Politics Of The United States
In the United States, elections can be the deciding factor in ones political career. In recent times,
congressional elections have not only become increasingly important, but also more expensive. The
expense is often considered a result of modern times, however it results in many people being unable
to run for a political position. This begs the question of who might be running for a political position if
the price wasn t so high, would it be a more common person who relates more to the people. Often
incumbents, those currently in office, are able to edge out competitors because of money. The price of
elections can also affect issues that are covered by politicians. While its not too hard to fill the
requirements for becoming a senator or representative, most people are unable to run for election due
to the financial burden. In current times this leads to politicians caring less about issues and more on
their image, money, and reelection. This is because money is related to power so the more money one
has, the more powerful one is, and this also relates to reelection and image. During the 2012
congressional election senators, on average, raised $10,476,451 and representative, on average, raised

explains Creon, the king of Thebes in Sophocles play Antigone to the furthest extent. Creon s constant
paranoia about the safety of his enfant regime is his fatal flaw. Antigone depicts the dangers of power
and the importance of family, and illustrates Creon s rule over the city of Thebes. Creon takes power
over the city after their previous ruler died in battle. Thebes is riven by the tragedy of their previous
king s death and Creon needed to make sure that the people were loyal to his regime. One decree that
he made was that the previous king s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Here, Creon is showing his first signs of paranoia. He thinks that the people of his kingdom all are
gossiping about him and constructing a rebellion, but in reality they are not. In his first speech he
spoke about the nature of friendship and being loyal to the state. Now, he is not even giving anyone a
chance to show his or her loyalty. Here, we can see how his paranoia interferes with his ability to be a
great leader.
In his fourth monologue, Creon shows his naive side to complement his paranoia. In this scene, Creon
and his son, Haemon, are arguing about what to do about Antigone. At first Haemon is agreeing with
his father, yet, as the conversation escalates Haemon starts to take the side of his fiancé, Antigone.
Creon states,
I caught her in naked rebellion, the traitor, the only one in the whole city. I m not about to prove
myself a liar, not to my people, no, I m going to kill her

Wealth Distribution and William Domhoffs Wealth, Income,...
In William Domhoff s article, Wealth, Income, and Power, he examines wealth distribution in the
United States, specifically financial inequality. He concludes that the wealthiest 10% of the United
States effectively owns America, and that this is due in large part to an increase in unequal distribution
of wealth between 1983 and 2004. Domhoff also states that the unequal wealth distribution is due in
large part to tax cuts for the wealthy and the defeat of labor unions. Most of Domhoff s information is
accurate and includes strong, valid arguments and statements. However, there is room for
improvement when identifying the subject of what is causing the inequality.
The most important points made in Domhoff s article are his statistics, the ... Show more content on

William Domhoff s claims in the article Wealth, Income, and Power, are, for the most part, very
strong. He makes strong statements regarding the concentration of wealth in the United States, and
backs them up with good sources throughout. The statistics used are valid, and consistent among many
trusted sources. The only area where Domhoff s argument falls short is when he references the causes
of wealth inequality. In this portion, his argument is a bit weak and could be strengthened by
considering other important factors effecting wealth concentration, rather than limiting it to two
seemingly all important issues. Overall, upon examination of Domhoff s ideas and sources, he
presents an accurate and fairly strong argument about the unequal distribution of wealth in the United
States.

Best Memories Research Paper
When most people think of a school they think of hard work yelling teens and just absolute chaos, but
they also my think back to when they themselves were in school or even their first year there as
freshmen and then think of all of the good and funny memories they had there in that year. I happen to
be one of them just thinking back to the beginning of the year and all the memories I have had so far.
Heck, some of my best memories are in school like when my balloon popped in class, and when me
and my friends messed with the plants we were supposed to grow and even when me and my friends
played a few games of UNO in the middle of class. First off, one way I had a great time in class is
when my balloon popped in the middle of biology. One reason ... Show more content on

One reason why this is one of my best memories is that we were super loud. This makes it the best
because we were super loud and our substitute teacher didn t even care, other than when he asked us if
we were done with are working Are you guys done with your work over there and if not you ll have to
talk to your teacher but we were already done so we were good. Another reason why this is one of my
best memories is none of us were winning. This makes it the best because we are all competitive and
none of us were winning, Which is kind of funny because all of us were smack talking each other
about who is going to win. Yet I ended up winning and won the next few games of UNO but they were
all pretty lengthy and took us most of the hour to play. This makes playing UNO in the middle of class
one of the best memories because our teacher didn t even care that much and that none of us were
winning even though we were all competitive. Some of my best memories that i have had in my
freshman year are when my balloon popped in the middle of class ,and when we messed with my
friends plant ,and finally when me and my friends played UNO in the middle of class. These were
some of my best memories because when my balloon popped everyone jumped out of their seats and
me and my friends couldn t help but laugh, and when we messed with my friends plant and we put a
crayon in his plant and waterboarded it, and finally when me and my friends played UNO in the
middle of class and our teacher didn t even

Tay Soon, By Catherine Lim Summary
Passion is defined in the Canadian Oxford High School Dictionary as a strong and barely controllable
emotion. The author, Catherine Lim, develops ideas and concepts about the immense influence of a
ruling passion on an individual s life, within the story she wrote, titled, Paper . The individual s life in
which gets effected by a ruling passion is Tay Soon, who has a dream of building a home of
perfection, shaped and decorated consummately with utter flawlessness and superiority. Fundamental
ideas of vast influence that Catherine developed among this topic were evoking change, inspiration,
and clout it has in outcome, through the whole of another s life. Change is a concept of starting at one
point, and ending up somewhere else, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A ruling passion can inspire someone to put their thoughts and/or words into action. Quoted on page
76, Tay Soon secured a loan from his bank and put twenty thousand in OHT. This situation
represented putting thoughts into actions to put effort towards achieving one s dream because Tay
wanted to do it for quite some time, and then finally came about doing it. Secondly, a different
repercussion of inspiration would be for one to continue on dreaming even when things get rough.
This was shown when Tay was upset due to failing to buy a share at nine dollars which a few days
later had hit seventeen dollars (located on page 77), but he continued on trying to achieve his dream,
and didn t let that one stock discourage him. Besides this, a ruling passion can influence an individual
s life through inspiring other s to become passionate or take action as well. Delineated after Dr. Soo
bought the Russian Banking shares for four dollars, and turned out to be worth seven the next day, in
which the time came when Tay and Yee became even more passionate towards this and their dream
than they were before. Being a powerful piece reacting from a ruling passion, inspiration can influence
an individual`s life in a considerable

However, the process of implementing these programs is laden with challenges. As such, an

The Effects Of Donald Trump s Bashed On Women
Donald Trump has bashed on women for not being as intelligent as men, and has glorified the looks of
women who are beautiful, but Trump also bashes on the women who are not fit to his beauty
standards. Donald Trump told an interviewer that, A person who is very flat chested is very hard to be
a 10 (Trump, 2001). By saying that a person with a flat chest cannot look like the perfect ten, he is
saying that women have to have large breasts to be beautiful. This claim of a beauty norm can cause
many self confidence issues in women.
Donald Trump also told an interviewer, Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you
imagine that, the face of our next president? I mean, she s a woman, and I m not supposed to say bad
things, but really,

Summary on The Book of the Courtier by Baldassar...
The Book of the Courtier Summary
The Book of the Courtier by Baldassar Castiglione was the book of proper etiquette for men and
women from 1528 to the end of the 18th century. This book was found in French, Latin, Spanish,
Dutch, English, German, and Polish. This book was written in a dialogue well, four different
dialogues, with each dialogue pushing and explaining different rules that needed to be fallowed if a
person was considered to be high class; these rules were basically held as law to most of the high class
citizens of Europe. There are some rules that are able to be paired or grouped together because they
either said the same thing or were pointing towards the same major point on how to act; some of these
major key points ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of the rules are still kept up in today s society. The rules that are no longer in place include
being born into a wealthy family, do not boast/ brag, do not spread rumors, do not lead on someone of
the opposite sex unless they are of the same social status as you poor or rich , speak in multiple
languages French, Italian, and Spanish , be graceful within everything you do, do not do sports ladies ,
be knowledgeable, make sure that your armor is well kept and taken care of gentlemen , be able to
fight in a tournament and against a range of weapons gentlemen , and act as if you were a person of
the court. The amount of rules, like these, that are still in affect are dress for success, treat everyone
with respect, be kind, treat your other as if he/she was you if you are in a relationship , be
ladylike/gentlemanlike, be courteous, and have friends close by. The three major categories that have
been mentioned, respect, leadership, and social image, were the ways that a person with a high
ranking of social order would act in public and within their own homes. The Book of The Courtier by
Baldassar Castiglione was the base of the modern day books on proper etiquette; yet, the rules are now
not only for the rich but also for the

  • 2. Comparing Macbeth And Throne Of Blood Dane Drewry Mr. Ortiz English 12 27 February 2017 Character Comparison: Macbeth Throne of Blood In the tragic play by Shakespeare, The Tragedy of Macbeth Macbeth, and the Japanese film, Throne of Blood, many characters are direct parallels of each other. There are many similarities and yet, key differences within each of the characters. Macbeth and Washizu share many of the same character traits, as do their wives, Lady Macbeth and Asaji, respectively. We can also see these similarities between Banquo and Miki and the three witches and the Forest Spirit. Macbeth and Washizu are subject to their ambition and fear as they ascend to kingship, while Lady Macbeth and Asaji are plagued by their desire for social status and wealth. Banquo and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They both have the will to manipulate and command the actions of their husbands and show tremendous resolve to gain wealth and status. However, there are some key differences between Lady Macbeth and Asaji. Lady Macbeth s mental health takes longer to decline into almost complete insanity. We see Lady Macbeth struggling with her position after becoming Queen. She is stressed about keeping the throne secure and is not as happy as she thought she might be. It takes a while but eventually she cracks and has somewhat of a mental breakdown. Asaji on the other hand keeps her composure throughout most of the film. She is obviously concerned about succeeding in her endeavors but she was able to keep her focus unlike Lady Macbeth. It is only very suddenly that she suffers the same fate as Lady Macbeth. Both women are found washing nonexistent blood from their hands while sleepwalking. One other crucial difference between the two women is their role as women within their respective societies. Lady Macbeth does not wish to be treated like a woman at all. At one point in the play she even says, Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe topful of direst cruelty! (Shakespeare 1.5:40 44) Asaji takes a vastly different path when it comes to her role as a woman. Her body language within the film shows that she is willing to take on her role as a prominent ... • 3. Hyphen Analysis Living on a Hyphen: Examining the Fluidity of Identity and Belonging Within a Bicultural Context in Ruth Ozeki s A Tale For the Time Being In A Tale For the Time Being, Ozeki Ruth uses the character of Nao to portray the struggles of negotiating between two distinct cultures and what it means to live on a hyphen. The hyphen represents disconnection and connection simultaneously. Liu defines hyphenated identity as involving the coexistence, rather than the merging of two cultures (33). In other words, two distinct entities belong together, but never successfully merge into one because the individual finds it difficult to fully associate with either of the two cultures. In Ozeki s novel we witness how bicultural experiences shape Nao s sense of identity and belonging as she grapples with the complexities of moving from one country to another. For first generation immigrants in North America, acceptance into the mainstream society requires them to learn or improve their English language skills and adapt to its cultural practices (Liu 1). Liu believes second generation immigrants are better equipped to accomplish this because they are either born in the host country or migrated at a young age (1). When Nao s family moved to Sunnyvale, Nao learned English quickly and internalized American values and norms. Nao was young and had no memory of Japan from when [she] was a baby (43), which explains her rapid adjustment to America. Unlike her parents, Nao never had a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. My Statement Of Purpose For Learning English Statement of Purpose One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way. Franck Smith My interest in learning English is due to the fact that I have always liked to challenge myself. Even though many of my friends and family warned me from majoring in English, as it would be difficult for me, I have accepted the challenge. I have always felt that learning English would increase myself confidence and have people around me impressed. It is based on the observation of order in the world, and that the complexity of the universe shows evidence of design. This design implies a designer; capable and sentient, and this designer is God. The argument is split into two parts: design qua purpose and design qua regularity (Jordan, et al., 2002). Design qua regularity looks at the evidence of design, found in the order and regularity in the universe (Jordan, et al., 2002). It was first developed in the 13th century by St Thomas Aquinas, who in his fifth way in Summa Theologica, argued that the world of nature is like an arrow shot from an archer s bow, it has direction and purpose even if it lacks awareness as some intelligent being exists by whom all natural things are directed to their end: and this being we call God (Aquinas, 2009, p. 23). William Paley, another key contributor in of the Teleological argument, uses the planetary movements and Newton s laws of motion are also specific examples to provide evidence for design qua regularity part of the argument (Paley Ware, 1857). Design qua purpose looks at the evidence of design in relation to the ways in which the parts of the universe appear to fit together for some purpose. William Paley put forward the most famous form of the design qua purpose argument in his book Natural Theology (Paley Ware, 1857). Paley used the analogy of a watch and suggested ... • 15. The Normal Heart Rate Of A Daphnia Magna Introduction The purpose of this lab was to determine the normal heart rate of a Daphnia Magna and decipher the different effects that various substances had on it. A Daphnia Magna is a species of water fleas and can be located in the Northern United Sates against the coastline of the Atlantic in rocky pools. The water flea s habitat consists of rivers and streams, temporary pools, lakes and ponds, and brackish water. The Daphnia Magna range from two to five millimeters in length and are shaped like a kidney bean (Elenbaas, Molly). Relating to this lab experiment we learned in class that the normal heart rate is measured anywhere between 60 and 100 beats per minute (BPM). If your resting BPM is measured at a level above the number 100 it is known as Tachycardia. This term indicates that your heart level has exceeded the normal range. Also if your heart rate is indicated below 60 then it is called Bradycardia, which means the heart is beating slower than normal. When your heart rate is affected by a substance in the body it is called a Chronotropic agent. When the heart rate decreases because of a substance or chemical it is called a negative Chronotropic and when it is affected oppositely by increasing it is known as a positive Chronotropic agent. In this experiment we added many different substances to the slide on which the water flea was placed to calculate the increase or decrease in its heart rate due to the ingredients in the substances. • 26. How To Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse In the United States alone, over fifteen million people abuse prescription drugs. Due to the rise in prescription drug abuse, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have declared the abuse as a crisis. A common misconception about prescription drugs is that many people believe that they are safer than illegal drugs, such as heroin. However, prescription drugs are only safe in the doses prescribed. If taken obsessively, then the drugs have the potential to be just as dangerous as illegal substances. The most commonly abused prescription drugs are opiates, better known as painkillers, which have been readily available to abusers and requires little effort to attain. In a world filled with technology, advertisements are everywhere. It is nearly impossible for many people to get through the day without hearing at least one commercial. In the past several years, drug companies have begun to advertise their products. Designed to appeal to the public, most ads do not disclose their faults. However, in the dawn of the opioid crisis, states are beginning to question the lack of acknowledgment of their drug s addictive history. The city of Chicago has sued several pharmaceutical companies over misleading advertising. While some companies have reached an agreement to disclose the risk of addiction with their products, advocates believe this does not solely make a large impact on improving the opiate crisis. Adriane Fugh Berman, professor of pharmacology at Georgetown University School of Medicine, claims, Maybe it s a first step, but I think counting on pharmaceutical companies to get us out of this opioid mess is not likely to be successful, (qtd. in Bernstein). Being an ISTJ and having sensing and judging as my two main personality traits certainly has both its up and downs. I see this as a strength since it had helped me significantly in my studies, but some of these traits also restrict my creativity and often makes it difficult for me to look outside the box. Sensors are great problem solvers, so when I am faced with a problem, I attempt to use the information I have available to come up with the best solutions. But ultimately, many neglect the Bronx as the poorest county, with the highest dropout rates, and unemployment rates in the State of New York. I spent the last five years trying to fix some of these issues, working especially with children from the ages of nine to seventeen with a nonprofit organization called CBALL. We aim to empower young leaders and prevent children from falling victim to the criminal culture that plague the Bronx. A direct correlation exists between the well being of the residents in the Bronx and the crime rates. Ocean Acidification Is Destroying Our Environment Evelyn Yang Nick Grossenbacher Essay Writing A July 6, 2015 Ocean Acidification: How the Ocean s Declining pH is Destroying Our Environment Sometimes called climate change s equivalently destructive twin , ocean acidification is becoming more and more noticeable as the seawater s changing chemistry begins to cause environmental and economical problems. When the Industrial Revolution began around 1760, fossil fuel powered machines gained an immense amount of accessibility and popularity. Since then, carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere have risen enough to change the pH of the world s oceans. Given that the ocean absorbs almost half of the CO2 that is released into our atmosphere, ocean acidification is inclining into an even greater problem as fossil fuels become a more common energy source in our society. Higher acid levels can harm wildlife, disrupt the food chain, and negatively impact industries that rely on the ocean for business. Ocean acidification is causing growing dilemmas for both marine ecosystems and ocean based economies. Although many companies and organizations are attempting to fix this problem, acidification is still threatening to cause increasingly harmful issues for the future. Ocean acidification is the constant increase of acidity in the Earth s oceans, caused by the unceasingly rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Most people would think he s crazy, but actually he s just trying to fight for justice to end slavery because what he believes that is right. In recent times, congressional elections have not only become increasingly important, but also more expensive. The expense is often considered a result of modern times, however it results in many people being unable to run for a political position. This begs the question of who might be running for a political position if the price wasn t so high, would it be a more common person who relates more to the people. Often incumbents, those currently in office, are able to edge out competitors because of money. The price of elections can also affect issues that are covered by politicians. While its not too hard to fill the requirements for becoming a senator or representative, most people are unable to run for election due to the financial burden. In current times this leads to politicians caring less about issues and more on their image, money, and reelection.
