Three Brief Scenarios and Boundaries
List three brief scenarios that will illustrate examples of the types of boundary issues or multiple
relationships you may encounter in the work you will be doing as a counselor. Be specific in
describing the client, the counseling setting, and the situation that has raised these issues. Discuss
specifically what makes these scenarios ethical challenges.
Boundaries make it possible for the relationship between therapist and client to be professional and
safe for the client and set the parameters of the services provided.
The primary concern in establishing and managing boundaries with each individual client is to the best
interest of the client. While it is difficult for clients to negotiate boundaries or recognize the need for

The medicinal aspect of touch has been known and used for centuries. Touch triggers a cascade of
healing chemical responses including a decrease in stress hormones and an increase in serotonin and
dopamine levels. In addition, touch has been shown to increase the immune system s cytotoxic
capacity, thereby helping our body maintain its defenses and decreasing anxiety, depression,
hyperactivity, inattention, stress hormones and cortisol levels.
Clinically appropriate touch increases the client s sense of trust, comfort and ease with the therapist.
As a result touch is highly effective in enriching beneficial relationship between client and therapist.
The meaning of touch can only be understood within the context of who the client is, the therapeutic
relationship, and the setting. There are instances when the use of touch should be avoided for those
clients who are highly paranoid, hostile, highly sexualized or who demand touch.
Special care must be given to clients who have experienced assault, neglect, rape, molestation,
attachment issues, sexual addictions, and intimacy issues.
In this case scenario, the counselor gave the client a hug as a token of condolence and support in her
grief. It is believed that the counselor did not break any code of ethics. In Corey, Corey and Callanan
(2011) P. 317. Zur and Nordmarken (2009) note that touch in therapy is not inherently unethical and

Nature Methaphors in The Battle of Issus and Starry Night...
Since the beginning, nature has been one of mans many inspirations. It is used to convey emotions and
bring meaning in many ways in art. During the Northern Renaissance Albrecht Altdorfer was one of
the most distinguished painters known for his expressively detailed landscapes. The Battle of Issus
done by Altdorfer focused on nature to further amplify Alexander s victorious battle. Three hundred
and sixty years later, the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh creates a work that also showed how nature
can bring emotion and significance to his painting Starry Night. Albrecht Altdorfer s The Battle of
Issus in one of the artist most famous works depicting the exploits of historic heroes. [1] It was created
in 1529 on commission for the Munich ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Above the battle, in the sky nature seems to have it own dramatic conflict that elaborately mirrors the
historical battle of Issus. The Post Impressionism artist Vincent Van Gogh created his masterwork
Starry Night in 1889. Unlike the painting of Altdorfer, this painting was more personal and had the
conflict of man vs. himself. The painting of Starry Night took place in France while he was in the care
of the Saint Remy of Provence Psychiatric Hospital. Van Gogh yearned for a life that was calm and
harmonious during his seemingly never ending depressive state. In Starry Night Van Gogh s point of
view is omniscient as well but, he detaches himself even further. He Van Gogh creates a night sky
embellished by the swirling of its clouds and the illuminating blaze from its stars. He uses lines that
are arabesque in continuation that creates a fluid like design over the work making it harmonious.
Located below the dynamic sky is a row rolling hills in which the artist used different tones to create a
sense of depth in his work by the use of atmospheric perspective however, the painting still has a look
of flatness. The hills lead the eyes to a small calm inviting town created using simple shapes. The
church in the valley towers over all the homes as if it was a guardian. The tall steeple of the church is
not able to touch the magnificent sky however, there is an eerie cypress tree in the foreground it is able
to touch the

Productivity Improvement in Screw Type Biomass Briquettes...
The sectional details of the parts are shown in fig 3 in which the machine shaft is supported by radial
and thrust bearings. Radial bearings support the dead load on the shaft, while thrust bearings support
the axial load due to compression of saw dust by screw. One end of the shaft is connected to the gear
drive. In the other end of the shaft screw is inserted. Starting section of screw placed inside barrel
conveys the material into the mould. Mould is made in two sections, first in which the cross section
gradually reduced to the final shape of briquette (called forming mould or wear sleeve) and the later
with uniform cross section of the final briquette which exerts necessary back pressure for compression
due to friction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the second set of readings the stoppages are preplanned so that screw is removed before it was
damaged considerably. The heater is stopped earlier; very fine powder not suitable for briquetting was
introduced inside to push the previously formed matter out making the cleaning process easy and
short. The system will be started again with the new screw in place and heated to required temperature
about 250oC. The average down time in this trial was considerably reduced to 31 minutes. The
experimental details are given in table 1. Table 1 Experimental details for Eutectrode 700 coated screw

Eutechtrode 700 was used in this trial but replaced along with the second screw replacement.
Readings were taken for 4 trials to keep the total duration similar to that of first set. The next set of
trials with planned stoppages was also conducted for 4 trials in the similar way and the readings
tabulated. The details of the experiment are presented in table 2. Preplanning downtime has shown
improvements in the following aspects.
 The downtime per setup went down;
 productivity has shown improvement;
 Even though it was not accounted labor productivity morale went up significantly.

Post Modern era with its technological advancement introduced immense political and military giants
which included Communism, Nazism, and Americanism, but also targeted Christian faith (Shelley,
2008, p. 417). According to Worldview (2017), it also introduced atheism, a belief that there is no
God, no supernatural Creator, no Divine moral lawgiver, and no ultimate Judge of mans actions
followed by religious pluralism, belief that one must be tolerant of all religious beliefs because no one
religion can be true. Once again, Christians required different ways of uniting, thinking, and coping as
the world once again faced changed. To gain understanding of what humility as a concept meant in

On the other hand, the latter statement offers criticism and urges Christians to be aware of their
intentions, before God and themselves because it is offensive to pretend to possess humility. It is a lie.
Additionally, within his works, Lewis poses discerning question, How is it that people who are quite
obviously eaten up with Pride can say they believe in God and appear to themselves very religious? he
answers the question in the following way, I am afraid it means they are worshipping an imaginary
God. ... they pay a pennyworth of imaginary humility to Him and get out of it a pound s worth of Pride
towards their fellow men (p. 69). In other words, he appears to suggest that some Christians attempt to
hold on to the earthly commodities without realizing what is offered to them in the afterlife.
While discussing the topic of Christian belief, Lewis discusses Christ s crucifixion and offers the
following description of humility, Now the Christian belief is that if we somehow share the humility
and suffering of Christ we shall also share in His conquest for death and find a new life after we have
died and in it become perfect, and perfectly happy, creatures (p. 36). Reflecting upon aforementioned
statement the following conclusion can be drawn attaining humility leads to faultlessness and
effortless happiness that is a new life. To support above statement, Lewis

Oral And Drug Delivery System
Oral administration is the most resourceful, convenient and major mode of drug delivery and is
associated with superior patient compliance as compared to other modes of drug intake (1).
Approximately 50% of drug delivery systems present in the market are oral drug delivery system (2).
But main difficulty encounter in oral formulation (as estimated more than 50% of oral formulations
are found to be poorly water soluble) has low bioavailability, giving increase to additional problems
like high inter and intra subject variability , lack of dose uniformity and finally leading to therapeutic
failure. The challenging mission is to increase the bioavailability of drugs (3). To overcome this
difficulty, the oral controlled release (CR) formulations have been developed , as these will release the
drug slowly into GIT and continue the constant drug concentration in the serum for a long period of
time(4). Fig 1: Physiology of Stomach
1.1. Gastro Retentive Drug Delivery System (GRDDS)
The retention of oral dosage form in the upper GIT leading prolonged contact time of drug with the
GIT mucosa , leading to higher bioavailability and hence therapeutic efficacy , reduced time intervals
for drug administration , potentially reduced dose size and thus improved patient compliance(5).
A most favourable GRDDS can be defined as a system which preserve in the stomach for a adequate
time interval against all the physiological barriers, releases active moiety in a controlled way

Information Management And The Retail Industry
Information Management and the Retail Industry The retail industry is ever changing and evolving.
The more successful companies within the industry understand the need to use technology to their
advantage. Information management is the process by which different types of data is collected,
categorized, and stored (Turban, Volonino, Wood, Sipior, 2013, p. 32). A review of the collected data
is done to ascertain the value of the contents and reports are generated based on that data (Turban,
Volonino, Wood, Sipior). The Importance of Information Management in Retail The retail industry
uses information management systems to make decisions on the brands they introduce to their stores
as well as the best fashion designers they should collaborate with (Parekh, 2014). The data collected is
invaluable in that it enabled the industry to make quick decisions based on what their customers want
to purchase, and it gives those that use the technology, ideas as to upcoming trends. This is gives them
the advantage over their competitors (Parekh). Prior to the use of information management, the
industry made educated guesses at what their customers wanted. The more an item sold, the more they
attempted to keep the item in stock. With information management, retailers are using real time, fact
based to maintain pace with their competitors and meet the demands of their customers (Parekh).
Information management is one of the heaviest users by the retail industry. Retailers

Game Of Thrones Satire
In most TV series the viewers are accustomed to figuring out the main Protagonist and Antagonist of
the shows. In the TV series of Game of Thrones that completely changes as the viewers are left
stunned as the viewers are left guessing who the real Protagonist is, as the author George R. R. Martin
shows no mercy to any of the main characters. .This show was a different experience for me as a
viewer as it changes the way I love and hate characters. Game of Thrones also has nudity and violence
as the author portrays what barbaric things that we as humans have done in the past. Martin s true
intentions is to relay the message to the viewers that women were helplessly taken advantage of and
while only the powerful took advantage of the powerless.

Concept of Efficient Market Hypothesis
AN ESSAY ON
CAPITAL MARKETS, INVESTMENT AND FINANCE
Investing in a market where people believe in efficiency is like playing bridge with someone who has
been told it doesn t do any good to look at the cards .
Discuss. Warren Buffet, New York Times Magazine.
AUTHOR: CHARLES EKWE RUO
In an efficient market, security (example shares) prices rationally reflect available information
(Arnold 2005, p.684). The efficient market hypothesis
(EMH) refers to share price movement with respect to available information and thus no trader will be
presented with an opportunity of making supernormal profits (except by chance), therefore their
profits on a share will reflect the riskiness associated with that shares (Pike and Neal 2009). ... Show

Fama (1970) developed three grading systems to explain market efficiency. These were based on three
different forms of investment approaches which were designed to produce abnormal returns (Arnold
2005).
3
Weak form efficiency; current share prices reflect all information contained in past price movements
and its represented as: Pt = Pt

+ expected return +
random errort. The expected return is a function of a security‟s risk and the random component is due
to new information, which by definition arrives randomly; hence, in a weak form efficient market,
stock prices follow a random walk ,that is cannot be predicted (see fig. 2) (Hillier et al 2010).
Semi Strong form efficiency; security prices reflect all publicly available information (examples are
historical price, annual reports, mergers, dividend payment, earnings .etc) (ibid).
Strong form efficiency; security prices reflects all information (public and private (inside)
information). Note that in strong form efficiency, trading on inside knowledge is illegal because it
makes outsiders feel cheated (Brigham and Houston 2009).
Investments analysts who want to determine the intrinsic worth of shares based on underlining
information undertake fundamental analysis, which according to Pike and Neal (2009,p.36) is the
analysis of the fundamental determinants of company

The Process Of Aging And Metabolism
The process of aging is one many dread and try to avoid. Arguably even worse than aging are age
related diseases that see their onset as people get older. Aging and metabolism have been found to be
closely connected. As individuals age, they usually gain weight because metabolism slows and their
body composition changes. According to a paper published in Nature, after age 45 the average person
loses about 10% of their muscle mass each decade and that mass is generally just turned into fat
because their muscles cannot metabolize and use the added calories being consumed. As a result,
consuming fewer calories has been proven to consistently extend lifespans and delay age related
diseases in evolutionary diverse organisms, meaning specialized multi cellular organisms such as
humans and animals. Several metabolites, molecules generated and used in intermediate steps of
metabolic reactions, have been shown to slow the aging process and are of great interest to researchers
because the mechanisms of how they do this is unknown. This project is a deeper dive into a specific
molecule that was of particular interest to the research team during a screening of many endogenous
molecules including metabolites and disease associated metabolites. In this study, α ketoglutarate (α
KG) is explored in order to determine if and how it effects the lifespan of adult Caenorhabditis
elegans, also known as roundworms. α KG is an important molecule in cellular respiration,
particularly the citric

Without a proper diagnosis, change is very likely to fail (Pellettiere, 2006). Alderfer (1980) states
organizational diagnosis proceeds in there orderly phases: entry, data collection, and feedback (p.
460). The entry phase consists of identifying who will participate in the assessment and if an
agreement can be reached (Alderfer, 1980). The data collection phase consists of collecting the
information and then analysis of the information (Alderfer, 1980). The feedback phase consists of
sharing the results with the organization along with suggestions for the organization (Alderfer, 1980;
Preziosi, 2012). The feedback should consist of strengths and weaknesses within the organization
(Alderfer, 1980). Salem (2002) states there are three type of assessments: structural assessments,
functional assessments, and process assessments. Structural assessments are a snapshot of a specific
point in time, functional assessments relates antecedents with actions and outcomes, and process
assessments consists of collecting data over an extended period of time (Alderfer, 1980).
SWOT Analysis SWOT Anlysis is an acronym which stands for strength, weakness, opportunities, and

Over the course of this semester, the three essays that I wrote were the exploratory essay, A Cute

Joseph Carey Merrick was born on August 5, 1862 in Leicester to Mary Jane Merrick and Joseph
Merrick. His siblings were William, John, and, Marian. Joseph Carey Merrick was born with
deformities on his body, head, and even his hands. His parents said that it was caused by Mary being
knocked down by an elephant at the fairgrounds while she was pregnant with Merrick. That was how
Joseph Carey Merrick got his name that he is well known as, which is The Elephant Man. Merrick had
a close relationship with his mother until she died when he was only eleven. She died of Bronchial

Europe where he was beaten, robbed, and abandoned. In 1886 Joseph had made his way back to
London unable to speak. The police searched Merrick and found Fredrick Treves business card.
Treves brought Merrick to the London Hospital. Fredrick Treves decided to admit Merrick for his
physical condition. Francis Carr Gomm, supported Treves idea. Merrick s condition had worsened
over the past two years. The London Hospital was not equipped to take care of an incurable patient so
Carr Gomm talked to other hospitals and institutions no one would take Merrick. Carr Gomm put a
letter in the New York Times giving an outline of Joseph Carey Merrick s life. In result of this letter
the public gave much support. This support earned enough money to get Merrick a place to spend the
rest of his life in the hospital under watch by the nurses and staff. Merrick s case attracted many
people. Many people visited Merrick in the hospital and continued to give funds. One important
person out of the many that visited Merrick was the Princess of Wales Alexandra. Since Merrick had
so many supporters he was able to fulfill all of his desires before he died. A few thing she got to do
with the money from his supporters were going to the theatre and going on vacation many times in the
country. Merrick spent a lot of his time writing poetry and building a church out of playing cards.
Merrick stayed in the hospital most of the time. Over time Merrick s condition slowly worsened over
the four years that he was in the London Hospital. He got a lot of care from the staff and nurses. He
spent much of his time in the living quarters or in bed because of his decreased energy. His head
continued to grow larger and the deformities on his head grew larger. Joseph was five feet two inches

Similarities Between China And America
The United States of America and China have a rough relationship, but it is clear to anyone that they
are the two biggest superpowers in the world. These two countries have the highest GDP (gross
domestic product) out of any other country, and they are both very influential over other countries,
making them the two largest powers in the world. Being two major powerhouses, the two countries
have many similarities, and after taking a closer look at the geography, people, and history of the two
countries, it becomes evident that there are many differences as well. The geography of the United
States varies in many ways. Being the third largest country in the world, at 3,717,727 square miles, the

that they have after their first, to try and get their population down. The population may be much
higher than the U.S., however, the median house income is much lower at just over $10,000. About
half of the population works in manufacturing, and the other half works in the service industry. The

Value And Its Influence On People s Living
1. Introduction
Money is very important to daily life. It is money that enable people to live a life they want to live and
fulfill the value of life, such as happiness, health , love, and making difference. On the other hand,
values determine every life decision that people makes (Determine the true purpose of money in your
life, 2016).
Value is the monetary worth of something, which has great influence on indivudual s behavior and
attitude. When a purchase decision is made, it involves a value calculation. In general, value is
measured by price. But the price does not really reflect the true value. The most common value is
economic value. Beside economic value, there are cultural value and social value. Value is important
to both individual and business. This essay mainly explores the concept of value and its influence on
people s living.
2. The concepts of value
2.1 Definition of Value
Value is defined as the desirability of something, such as usefulness and exchangeability, also is
defined as the amount of money for a fair exchange for something (paperchain , nd). According to
Adam Smith, the word value , had two different meanings: value in use and value in exchange.George
[1908] mentioned that value of a thing was the largest amount of wealth that anyone was willing to
exchange for. Mises [1934] added that value is always the result of subjective judgments, and
intrinsically related to the worth that the consumer wanted to exchange for. Dewey( 1939) considered

Anheuser Busch wanted to target because that generation can afford to spend $18 on a 24 pack of beer

target that generation because they are all on social media and advertising is shifting that way. The
#Upfowhatever movement was to gain new business through new customers and corporations
(Hughes, 2015). The campaign was already two years old and has inspired millions of consumers to
engage with that hashtag to get out and try new adventures (Hughes, 2015). The young generation was

Tobias Wolff s The Rich Brother
Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk
(Susan Scarf Merrell). Merrell, an American author and a creative writing and literature teacher at
Stony Brook Southampton, states that since the early days of your youth to the end of our story our
siblings are there throughout our whole journey. Life is similar to a play; parents pass away during the
first half; while one s children come in during the second half; but siblings are there throughout both
acts. Tobias Wolff s, The Rich Brother, portrays the relationship between two brothers that are
complete opposites; yet they know each other s strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else will
ever be able. The Rich Brother describes a complex sibling relationship that is fairly common in today
s society; Tobias Wolff makes use of pathos by incorporating real life sibling abuse; and ethos in his
own life and credentials. Pathos, according to merriam webster.com, is defined as an element in
experience or in artistic representation evoking pity or compassion . The Rich Brother uses this appeal
to grasp the heart strings of its audience; to have compassion and/or pity towards the brothers. As
author Tobias Wolff states in this piece, Do you remember when you used to try to kill me? ...Is that
strange or what? I was afraid that you d get mad if you found out that I knew you were trying to kill
me (328 329). In this quote Tobias Wolff, a short story author, makes

Argumentative Essay On Religious Discrimination
Religious Discrimination Discrimination, a word that can meet quite a lot, there are many different
types of discrimination some of course are harsher than others. There s just one type of discrimination
that has been on the rise for some time now, and that s persecution. Persecution just means bad
treatment simply because of race, political, or religious beliefs. The area that has been hit over and
over for some time is religious persecution. A very sad but true reality for many people having to hide
to worship their beliefs. The most persecuted religion in the world may come to a shock to some
people, but the most persecuted religion is Christianity. Followed by Islam, and third is Judaism.
Christianity is the most popular religion in the United States, but is the least popular worldwide. To
put it in perspective, Christians are persecuted in over 130 countries for just their beliefs. To add on to

The Dirty War in Argentina The Dirty War in Argentina occurred in Argentina, South America from
approximately 1974 1983. It was also known as The Process of National Reorganization. ( Dirty War )
This was a time of state terrorism when the Argentine Military Government conducted terrorism
against its own people. Also, this was a time of government corruption. Illegal actions were not
uncommon at this time. Gangs would be able to rob and defile people and if they were taken to court,
the gangs could argue that the person was a socialist and their actions were militaristically justified.

These ideas are the main reason on Marx s conclusion on man s nature, which is incredibly important
to understand the theory of the individual. Man s nature is not abstract; a characteristic of a certain
individual. Actually it is the totally of all the social relations (Marx). In this quote the idea of man s
nature that Marx has represents a revolutionary reconstruction that would have to happen in the world
and the importance of education in the individual.
Marx s studies the theory of the individual and mainly focus in three areas, which are the complete
development of the individual, the problems of alienation and freedom.
Labour for the worker is something external not belonging to his nature...in his labour he does not
affirm himself, but denies himself, feels not happy, but unhappy, does not develop freely his physical
and spiritual energy but wears out his physical nature and destroys his spiritual force. This is why the
worker feels that he is himself only outside of working hours in the process of labour he feels he is
estranged from himself. He is himself when he is not working, and when he works he is already not
himself. (Marx)
Marx explains the idea in how the labor workers do not own they own work. Therefore, alienation is a
product from labor and it is used between capitalist societies to alienate the product of a man s labor
and his social nature. The bourgeois society will take the

Abstract
The state of Michigan s Earned Income Tax Credit is a good anti poverty mechanism for low and
moderate income working families. The Michigan credit was an effective technique for achieving a
reduction of the poverty rate in 2011. The Michigan Earned Income Tax Credit targets a certain
income level of working families. In 2011 the state Earned Income Tax Credit reached over 700,000
households. Governor Rick Snyder does not support its state credit geared toward low income families
irrespective of the amount of families that were elevated out of poverty. The tax credit advocates for
children and child education, can stimulate the economy by way of the multiplier effect, and lead
families to self sufficiency. Michigan EITC 3
The Effects of the Michigan Earned Income on
The Economy and working Families The Michigan Earned Income Tax Credit (MEITC) is a
refundable credit that targets low income working families. There are many other states with the
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) some with a refundable credit some with a non refundable credit.
The state credit follows the same criteria as the federal EITC. The MEITC is a credit against the states

In 2014, Viacom profit margin was 30%, highest in 5 years, whereas the peer group average was 25%.
This higher value of profit margin can be attributed to the increase in the revenue generated from their

increase from international advertising due to acquisition of Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited (UK),
however, the other revenue was driven by news channels, MTV Italy, and improvement in European

The Use Of Stereotypes In The 1967 Film Guess Who s Coming...
In the 1967 film, Guess Who s Coming to Dinner, the main characters bring home controversy when
they surprise their parents and friends with the news of their soon to be interracial marriage. Each
character brings a unique perspectives to the film, which in turn brings to light several different issues.
Throughout the film, there are many different ways in which communication is ineffective and could
have been improved. First, this paper will discuss examples of stereotypes presented in the film. Next,
it will explain complications in listening styles and how it affects communication between characters.
Finally, this paper will analyze process of conflict and how the prior points influence the process.
According to the textbook, stereotyping is attributing a set of qualities to a person because of his or
her membership to some category (Beebe, Beebe, Redmond, 2011, 74). This can be seen throughout
the beginning of the film when John and Joey first interact with Mrs. Drayton and again with Mr.
Drayton. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both cases, the accusers took a small amount of information as if they were a highly representative
factor. As a result, Mr. Drayton drew prejudicial conclusions about John and his capabilities. As for
Tillie, she overgeneralized and drew inaccurate conclusions about John and his intentions with Joey.
Although these are two specific examples of stereotyping in the film, they are not the only instances.
However, they are not pertinent to the purposes of this paper and will not be listed. Each of these
instances of stereotyping cut off the chance of successful communication by letting the preconceived
notions keep them from being open minded towards John. Towards the end of the movie, John is
talking to his father and says, You think of yourself as a colored man, but I just think of myself as a
man . This statement does a great job of exemplifying the difference in stereotyping and not

Each perspective is held within a chapter which, when the characters move away from each other,
allows the author to leave minor cliff hangers at the end of each chapter. While six of the characters
from this first book are from the same family, the perspective is shifted around in preceding books.
Death is common is this book and it s was one of the best things about it because it played well to the
realism of the time that is depicted. Main characters are not safe like in other novels I have read and
this made for very exciting reading. Self preservation is often the cause for character splits and
confrontations, and by the end of the book characters you assumed you would be attached too for
some time are left headless and gutless or simply gone.
The novel, A Game of Thrones, begins with an encounter with supernatural beings; this may give a
false impression as to what will come. As the story begins to unfold, the theme moves strongly into

Australia has a parliamentary democracy, where China is still under a communist rule. There are many
stark differences between both nations, which can lead to security concerns for both. However through
the rise of China it is clear that it would inevitably raise tensions with Asia s other resident powers and
that competition between them will be at its most dangerous (Dupont, 2011). This is not only a threat
for Australia, but also other nations such as the United States. Tension in the Asian region is always a
threat to Australia due to its proximity to Asia. Being the island nation with no large allies within a
close range Australia has over the years held a strong concerns about the Asian nation. This threat is
not new, as even in the colonial period Australians held a great fear for the Asian Invasion . However,
Australia still has the radical differences with China. These differences are not only in the running of
the country, but also in the ideological sides of the respective nations. This growth of China has led to
many nations creating policy solely regarding the growth of China. This enables them to have ways to
grow in partnership with the rise of China. Australia is one of these nations and has shifted towards an
accommodation policy concerning China. Each nation comes to terms with China in its own manner
combining the different elements of containment, engagement and hedging strategies (He, 2012, p.

FT-Ir Advantages
The measured signal is digitized and sent to the computer where the Fourier transformation takes
place. The final infrared spectrum is then presented to the user for interpretation. A background
spectrum must also be measured with no sample in the beam. This can be compared to the
measurement with the sample in the beam to determine the percent transmittance. This technique
results in a spectrum which has all of the instrumental characteristics removed [195]. Some of the
major advantages of FT IR over the dispersive technique include: Speed: Because all of the
frequencies are measured simultaneously, most measurements by FT IR are made in a matter of
seconds rather than several minutes. This is referred to as the Felgett Advantage. Sensitivity: The
detectors employed are much more sensitive. The optical throughput is much higher (referred to as the
Jacquinot Advantage) results in lower noise levels and the fast scans. Mechanical Simplicity: The
moving mirror in the interferometer is the only continuously moving part in the instrument. Internally
Calibrated: These instruments employ a helium neon laser as an internal wavelength calibration
standard (referred to as the Connes Advantage). These instruments are self calibrating and never need
to be calibrated by the user. These advantages make extremely accurate measurements and ... Show

Religion vs. Morality Essay
To be moral simply means to do what is right; however, doing what is right is easier said than done.
Perhaps if one was a child, one would, to the best of their abilities, follow what his parents demand of
him, this would constitute them as doing what is right. Now let us say that the child is an orphan, or
does not believe what his parents say is right, should following them still be considered moral, or is it
even up to him to decide? Perhaps the child has evolved past parenting all together and therefore
needs no more guidance. Defining what is considered moral has now become much more complex.
Sam Harris presents the same basic argument of morality in his book Letter to a Christian Nation, by
applying it not to a child and his parents, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While atheists do not believe in God, it does not mean that they do not serve a god and religion.
Capitalism, at least in America, is everyone s religion. It is served each and every day as millions
make the pilgrimage to work, to gain the capacities to tithe into the economy by following the ever
present sermon of buy, buy, buy. The sermon is far greater than any religion of God, for it is sought
out daily by various means such as the television, radio, and advertisements on clothes that society
themselves perpetuate. Martin Luther once stated that one s religion is whatever one is willing to
sacrifice his children for is his religion and God . Millions are being sacrificed by their economies
today; workers are working 12 hour days for less than 2 dollars. Governments are doing all in their
powers to keep unions from forming all in the name of capitalism. Therefore if Harris argument is that
only morality can be accomplished by atheism, and there is no true form of Atheism, then there can be
no true form of morality(religion of the market 67 70). Harris also groups all Christians into one huge
pool of rifle toting, homophobes, who s main concern is to prevent murder of the unborn, all the while

Ifrs Vs. Us Gaap Essay
For years, IASB and FASB have been working diligently on convergence with IFRS. Different
countries develop their own accounting standards based on their unique rules, principles, business

accounting standards. Two major standards are the US GAAP and IFRS, and they share many
differences and similarities. One of the main differences is the conceptual approach and framework,
IFRS is principle based whilst US GAAP is rule based (Forgeas, 2008). When comparing IFRS and

This is absolutely counterintuitive to classical physics which has the two as completely different
entities. Relativity can be separated into two basic concepts: Special and General Relativity. Within
Relativity the fundamental concept above all else is that space and time are intertwined with each
other in the universe as a fabric called space time. Simply put, Special Relativity deals with the laws
of Physics when observers are all moving uniformly relative to each other while General Relativity
expands on the idea to include gravitation and acceleration. (Lieber, Lillian R. The Einstein Theory of
Relativity. Philadelphia: Paul Dry, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However this is not the same for the beam of light fired from the laser pointer. This is because light is
an electromagnetic wave that is independent of the motion of its starting point. It will always travel at
299,792,458 m/s because light s speed only depends on the medium through which it travels and the
motion of the object it is created from is completely irrelevant. (Lieber, Lillian R. The Einstein Theory
of Relativity. Philadelphia: Paul Dry, 2008. Print. p. 4 37)( Einstein, Albert, and Robert W. Lawson.
Relativity; the Special and General Theory,. New York: H. Holt and, 1920. 21 25. Print.)
This postulate developed by Einstein has what some would call key problems and would cause uproar
in conventional thinking. Things such as time now become variables when original thinking classified
it as an unchanging constant. Just thinking about this prospect can be mind boggling. Time is
something that everyone takes for granted as being a constant flow, just ticking away, and perpetual.
But, in fact, it is something that depends entirely on space time. How do we know that time is
relative? Imagine a different kind of clock. This clock is unique because instead of a hand ticking
away it is actually a beam of light bouncing between two mirrors. This would seem the most logical
choice of an accurate clock because light is a constant right? As we observe the clock it ticks off at

The British Soldier As A Drunken Brute
The beginning of the nineteenth century found the British army already engaged for the last seven
years in a war with the French. This war to oppose Napoleon would last until 1815, by which time the
British would be victorious. This triumphant British army, although successful throughout their
campaign with the French, was not openly considered a humble and advantageous force for society. In
fact, the common stereotype and popular image of the British soldier was negative, as the Duke of
Wellington stated the soldiers were the scum of the earth who have all enlisted to drink .1 For the
majority of the soldiers, this label was given inappropriately and carelessly. The Autobiography of
Sergeant William Lawrence, a British soldier who fought in the Peninsula and Waterloo Campaigns
during his fourteen year military career, offers an insight into the lives of the labelled soldiers and
interpretation of whether this label can be deemed accurate.
The idea of the British soldier as a drunken brute is inaccurate. The men who enlisted to fight against
Napoleon were more often than not forced to do so out of economic necessity. Soldiers delinquencies
seemed to many contemporaries to be the unavoidable result of the type of men who enlisted. 2 The
British army was made from voluntary enlistment, and this was thought to have produced a body of
army that was inferior in both character and discipline to the past British armies. For the volunteers,
the promise of regular food and

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor Frankl
Introduction
Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl describes his therapeutic doctrine (pg. 97), logotherapy.
Frankl further developed his theory based on his experiences living in the concentration camps during
World War II. He shares how this philosophy enabled him to survive the toughest times and find
motivation in life. In this paper, I will describe how Man s Search for Meaning provided personal
insights for dealing with the stresses of professional school. I will also address the impact of the
concentration camps on the prisoners using a biopsychosocial spiritual perspective and how Frankl s
challenge to always have a purpose in life can benefit families that are facing a difficult health related
diagnosis.
Personal insights
In logotherapy, Frankl states there are three different ways to find meaning in life, (1) by creating
work or doing a deed; (2) by experiencing something or encountering someone; and (3) by the attitude
we take toward unavoidable suffering (pg. 111). I realized these three tactics could be relevant to my
own life as I take on the challenge of optometry school. Optometry school is a huge commitment and
it demands four years of heavy course loads with challenging material. There is evidence that almost
30% of medical students experience symptoms of depression and around 11% have had suicidal
thoughts (Rotenstein et al., 2016). I prefer not to become one of these statistics during my time in
optometry school. I feel one way to prevent this

Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders by...
The overall message and core argument this book offers is that the new version of the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the DSM 5, will cause an enormous increase of people who
are not mentally ill being diagnosed with a mental disorder and receiving unnecessary treatment for it.
Allen Frances argues that assigning everyday problems to mental disorders causes massive
disadvantages for individuals and society. Diagnosing a healthy person as mentally ill will lead to
unnecessary, harmful medications, the constricting of horizons, misallocation of medical recourses,
and wasting the budgets of families and the state. He states as well that we do not take responsibility
for our own mental well being. We do not trust our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was not because of an increase of the mental illnesses but because of mistakes in the diagnostic
criteria. This has caused normal young children being diagnosed with a mental disorder and being
treated with harmful medications. There were mixed feelings among the parents about the diagnosing
of their children and the medications their children received. Some of the parents had some suspicion
against the medications but some parents were glad to see their child receiving special attention and
education.
The audience of the book is literally everyone. Frances wants to warn psychiatrists and psychologists
but general practitioners as well to watch out for depending too much on the criteria in DSM 5 in
diagnosing patients with mental illnesses. He argues that DSM 5 causes hyperinflation of diagnosis
and therefore emphasizes them to be critical towards using DSM 5 and its criteria. Frances wants to
warn normal people as well. He wants to alert people who do not need treatment to avoid it, but at the
same time encourage individuals who do need treatment to seek it and to stick with it. He also would
like to alert normal people of the diagnostic hyperinflation and the severe consequences of it and the
important role of the pharmaceutical companies in the diagnostic hyperinflation.
Differences with other sources
What makes Saving Normal different from other books with the same subject is that Allen

Architecture Of The Renaissance Period
The Renaissance period was a time filled with new ideas and developments that changed European
society. Many cultural and scientific advances were made during this period, especially in architecture
and medicine. As Arthur Ericsson states the period was studded by the names of architects such as
Filippo Brunelleschi and Donato Bramante, whose creations are recorded as great historical events.
The Renaissance period is also well known for the new scientific discoveries made through the
examination of the human body. The European society changed greatly during the Renaissance period
due to the many cultural and scientific advances made particularly in architecture and medicine.
The architecture of the Renaissance period replaced the medieval gothic style with a style representing
the rebirth of classical civilization. One of the famous architects in the early Renaissance was Filippo
Brunelleschi. Through looking at the old Roman and Greek architecture, he was able to bring back the
old traditional buildings and arches, but in a more effective and proportional way. In the early
Renaissance, the Florentines fathers created a competition for the ideal dome design. Many architects
came from all around Europe to showcase their designs. Brunelleschi had won for his amazing yet
risky plan. He designed the dome with two concentric shells. The inner shell facing the inside of the
cathedral, and the outer shell would be a large dome. He bound the walls with tension rings of

Hearing And Responding To Jack London s The Call Of The Wild
Hearing and Responding to the Call of the Wild At the beginning of The Call of the Wild, Jack
London presents a quotation from Atavism, a 1902 poem by John Myers O Hara that encapsulates one
of the main motifs of the novel: Old longings nomadic leap, Chafing at custom s chain; Again from its
brumal sleep..[brumal: winter] Wakens the ferine strain. . [ferine: savage, fierce, wild] One
characteristics of naturalism is Determinism theory of Heredity. In the novel heredity is mainly
represented in atavism . Atavism is one of the themes of the call of the wild. It is an animal s recovery
of the instincts of his wild ancestors. For Buck, this recovery involved repeated visions of his
primitive past, which usually occurred late at night when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man could leap high and swing in trees. And closely akin to the visions of the hairy man was the
call still sounding in the depths of the forest. It filled him with a great unrest and strange desires. It
caused him to feel a vague, sweet gladness, and he was aware of wild yearnings and stirrings for he
knew not what. Sometimes he pursued the call into the forest, looking for it as though it were a
tangible thing, barking softly or defiantly, as the mood might dictate. (Chapter VII, The Sounding of
the Call ). Buck s experiences in the northland wilderness awakened in him the long dormant instincts
of a wild carnivore. When he acted on these instincts by killing the moose, for example, or befriending
the wolf brother he was responding to the call of the wild. His atavism that was, his reversion to the
behavior of his canine ancestors gradually transformed him into a wolf like creature that prefers to live
in a savage environment in which he must fight and kill to live. In the last chapter of The Call of the
Wild, there was always a scene that Buck felt the call of the life in the wild drawing him away from
mankind, away from campfire and towns, and into the

  • 2. Three Brief Scenarios and Boundaries List three brief scenarios that will illustrate examples of the types of boundary issues or multiple relationships you may encounter in the work you will be doing as a counselor. Be specific in describing the client, the counseling setting, and the situation that has raised these issues. Discuss specifically what makes these scenarios ethical challenges. Boundaries make it possible for the relationship between therapist and client to be professional and safe for the client and set the parameters of the services provided. Touch triggers a cascade of healing chemical responses including a decrease in stress hormones and an increase in serotonin and dopamine levels. In addition, touch has been shown to increase the immune system s cytotoxic capacity, thereby helping our body maintain its defenses and decreasing anxiety, depression, hyperactivity, inattention, stress hormones and cortisol levels. Clinically appropriate touch increases the client s sense of trust, comfort and ease with the therapist. As a result touch is highly effective in enriching beneficial relationship between client and therapist. The meaning of touch can only be understood within the context of who the client is, the therapeutic relationship, and the setting. There are instances when the use of touch should be avoided for those clients who are highly paranoid, hostile, highly sexualized or who demand touch. Special care must be given to clients who have experienced assault, neglect, rape, molestation, attachment issues, sexual addictions, and intimacy issues. • 3. Nature Methaphors in The Battle of Issus and Starry Night... Since the beginning, nature has been one of mans many inspirations. It is used to convey emotions and bring meaning in many ways in art. During the Northern Renaissance Albrecht Altdorfer was one of the most distinguished painters known for his expressively detailed landscapes. The Battle of Issus done by Altdorfer focused on nature to further amplify Alexander s victorious battle. Three hundred and sixty years later, the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh creates a work that also showed how nature can bring emotion and significance to his painting Starry Night. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Above the battle, in the sky nature seems to have it own dramatic conflict that elaborately mirrors the historical battle of Issus. The Post Impressionism artist Vincent Van Gogh created his masterwork Starry Night in 1889. Unlike the painting of Altdorfer, this painting was more personal and had the conflict of man vs. himself. The painting of Starry Night took place in France while he was in the care of the Saint Remy of Provence Psychiatric Hospital. Van Gogh yearned for a life that was calm and harmonious during his seemingly never ending depressive state. In Starry Night Van Gogh s point of view is omniscient as well but, he detaches himself even further. He Van Gogh creates a night sky embellished by the swirling of its clouds and the illuminating blaze from its stars. He uses lines that are arabesque in continuation that creates a fluid like design over the work making it harmonious. Located below the dynamic sky is a row rolling hills in which the artist used different tones to create a sense of depth in his work by the use of atmospheric perspective however, the painting still has a look of flatness. The hills lead the eyes to a small calm inviting town created using simple shapes. The church in the valley towers over all the homes as if it was a guardian. The tall steeple of the church is not able to touch the magnificent sky however, there is an eerie cypress tree in the foreground it is able to touch the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While discussing the topic of Christian belief, Lewis discusses Christ s crucifixion and offers the following description of humility, Now the Christian belief is that if we somehow share the humility and suffering of Christ we shall also share in His conquest for death and find a new life after we have died and in it become perfect, and perfectly happy, creatures (p. 36). Approximately 50% of drug delivery systems present in the market are oral drug delivery system (2). But main difficulty encounter in oral formulation (as estimated more than 50% of oral formulations are found to be poorly water soluble) has low bioavailability, giving increase to additional problems like high inter and intra subject variability , lack of dose uniformity and finally leading to therapeutic failure. The challenging mission is to increase the bioavailability of drugs (3). To overcome this difficulty, the oral controlled release (CR) formulations have been developed , as these will release the drug slowly into GIT and continue the constant drug concentration in the serum for a long period of time(4). The more successful companies within the industry understand the need to use technology to their advantage. Information management is the process by which different types of data is collected, categorized, and stored (Turban, Volonino, Wood, Sipior, 2013, p. 32). A review of the collected data is done to ascertain the value of the contents and reports are generated based on that data (Turban, Volonino, Wood, Sipior). The Importance of Information Management in Retail The retail industry uses information management systems to make decisions on the brands they introduce to their stores as well as the best fashion designers they should collaborate with (Parekh, 2014). The data collected is invaluable in that it enabled the industry to make quick decisions based on what their customers want to purchase, and it gives those that use the technology, ideas as to upcoming trends. This is gives them the advantage over their competitors (Parekh). Prior to the use of information management, the industry made educated guesses at what their customers wanted. Concept of Efficient Market Hypothesis AN ESSAY ON CAPITAL MARKETS, INVESTMENT AND FINANCE Investing in a market where people believe in efficiency is like playing bridge with someone who has been told it doesn t do any good to look at the cards . Discuss. Warren Buffet, New York Times Magazine. AUTHOR: CHARLES EKWE RUO In an efficient market, security (example shares) prices rationally reflect available information (Arnold 2005, p.684). The efficient market hypothesis (EMH) refers to share price movement with respect to available information and thus no trader will be presented with an opportunity of making supernormal profits (except by chance), therefore their profits on a share will reflect the riskiness associated with that shares (Pike and Neal 2009). ... • 13. The Process Of Aging And Metabolism The process of aging is one many dread and try to avoid. Arguably even worse than aging are age related diseases that see their onset as people get older. Aging and metabolism have been found to be closely connected. As individuals age, they usually gain weight because metabolism slows and their body composition changes. According to a paper published in Nature, after age 45 the average person loses about 10% of their muscle mass each decade and that mass is generally just turned into fat because their muscles cannot metabolize and use the added calories being consumed. As a result, consuming fewer calories has been proven to consistently extend lifespans and delay age related diseases in evolutionary diverse organisms, meaning specialized multi cellular organisms such as humans and animals. Several metabolites, molecules generated and used in intermediate steps of metabolic reactions, have been shown to slow the aging process and are of great interest to researchers because the mechanisms of how they do this is unknown. This project is a deeper dive into a specific molecule that was of particular interest to the research team during a screening of many endogenous molecules including metabolites and disease associated metabolites. In the 1967 film, Guess Who s Coming to Dinner, the main characters bring home controversy when they surprise their parents and friends with the news of their soon to be interracial marriage. Each character brings a unique perspectives to the film, which in turn brings to light several different issues. Throughout the film, there are many different ways in which communication is ineffective and could have been improved. First, this paper will discuss examples of stereotypes presented in the film. Next, it will explain complications in listening styles and how it affects communication between characters. Finally, this paper will analyze process of conflict and how the prior points influence the process. According to the textbook, stereotyping is attributing a set of qualities to a person because of his or her membership to some category (Beebe, Beebe, Redmond, 2011, 74). Although these are two specific examples of stereotyping in the film, they are not the only instances. However, they are not pertinent to the purposes of this paper and will not be listed. Each of these instances of stereotyping cut off the chance of successful communication by letting the preconceived notions keep them from being open minded towards John. The final infrared spectrum is then presented to the user for interpretation. A background spectrum must also be measured with no sample in the beam. This can be compared to the measurement with the sample in the beam to determine the percent transmittance. This technique results in a spectrum which has all of the instrumental characteristics removed [195]. Some of the major advantages of FT IR over the dispersive technique include: Speed: Because all of the frequencies are measured simultaneously, most measurements by FT IR are made in a matter of seconds rather than several minutes. This is referred to as the Felgett Advantage. Sensitivity: The detectors employed are much more sensitive. The optical throughput is much higher (referred to as the Jacquinot Advantage) results in lower noise levels and the fast scans. Mechanical Simplicity: The moving mirror in the interferometer is the only continuously moving part in the instrument. Now let us say that the child is an orphan, or does not believe what his parents say is right, should following them still be considered moral, or is it even up to him to decide? Perhaps the child has evolved past parenting all together and therefore needs no more guidance. Defining what is considered moral has now become much more complex. The sermon is far greater than any religion of God, for it is sought out daily by various means such as the television, radio, and advertisements on clothes that society themselves perpetuate. Martin Luther once stated that one s religion is whatever one is willing to sacrifice his children for is his religion and God . Millions are being sacrificed by their economies today; workers are working 12 hour days for less than 2 dollars. This war to oppose Napoleon would last until 1815, by which time the British would be victorious. This triumphant British army, although successful throughout their campaign with the French, was not openly considered a humble and advantageous force for society. In fact, the common stereotype and popular image of the British soldier was negative, as the Duke of Wellington stated the soldiers were the scum of the earth who have all enlisted to drink .1 For the majority of the soldiers, this label was given inappropriately and carelessly. The Autobiography of Sergeant William Lawrence, a British soldier who fought in the Peninsula and Waterloo Campaigns during his fourteen year military career, offers an insight into the lives of the labelled soldiers and interpretation of whether this label can be deemed accurate. The idea of the British soldier as a drunken brute is inaccurate. The men who enlisted to fight against Napoleon were more often than not forced to do so out of economic necessity. Soldiers delinquencies seemed to many contemporaries to be the unavoidable result of the type of men who enlisted. 2 The British army was made from voluntary enlistment, and this was thought to have produced a body of army that was inferior in both character and discipline to the past British armies.
