value age. The older you are the more you are respected because of your seniority. So the first thing

Korean speech is in the Subject/Object/Verb format as opposed to Subject/Verb/Object for English. To
use honorific speech, you must add a yo or seyo at the end of your sentences. seyo which is the

informal setting such as when you meet older acquaintances that you re not too close with or with a

psychological scars that never heal (Mr. Turner). A play on the common idiom, sticks and stones may
break my bones but words may never hurt me. Which was once used by parents universally to justify
name calling and harsh words, now sheds light on the darker, often unseen wounds of words. These
wounds and scars, both psychological and physical fall under abuse and can be ensured, worsened, or
inflicted further by harmful social norms. Social norms are pushed on children from birth and
throughout their life as an unwritten set of rules that all people must live by in their society. This string
of abuse has left a countless number of victims in its wake and continues to do so till this day. Abuse
is regrettably a more common part of our society and is described by Margaret O. Hyde in her work,
Know About Abuse, as an, harmful, injurious, or offensive treatment (Hyde 4). Abuse is usually only
limited to the physical signs, such as; the red ribbons left from the lash of a belt or the blooming
bruises from the drop of a fist. Rarely do those take the time to see the trauma and chaos caused by

Point of View Wuthering Heights has two main narrators from whose point of view the novel is
written. Lockwood is the primary narrator, and much is of what takes place in the present is told
through his eyes, via first person. The narration shifts to Ellen Dean, as she gives, to both Lockwood
and the reader, her version of past events. She serves as the peripheral narrator, who is meant to tell
the tale of what transpired before Lockwood s arrival to Wuthering Heights. Ellen s story is filtered
and recorded through Lockwood s perspective. There are however certain instances where Nelly
herself was not present and therefore relies on someone else s eyewitness report to convey what
transpired.
Syntax and Diction Wuthering Heights presents a variety of different styles, ranging from Catherine s
poetic speech, Heathcliff s verbal ferocity, Lockwood s greater literary discourse, Nelly s lecturing
