In modern day society, individuals are influenced by strong superiority figures their whose dominance stems from internal power.
Authority can often lead subordinates to rebel and seize control; therefore ability to obtain power is exceptionally difficult. A
rivalry for rigid power is seen in the literary piece, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest. The limited dominance is shifted fluidly
between Nurse Ratched and Randle McMurphy, and finally designated to Chief Bromden. Although Nurse Ratched exercises
initial control over her ward, Randle McMurphy attempts to disobey her authority through defiance, and ultimately the power
shifts into Chief Bromden s final control in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest.
In the beginning of the novel, Nurse Ratched undoubtedly dominates the control of the mental hospital. Chief s profound

seems to be a large, African American, elderly lady named Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones. When Roger reaches out and
snatches the purse, he loses his balance and falls flat on his back. Mrs. Jones simply gives him a swift kick in the rear and tells
him to get up. Then, instead of continuing to beat him, she sees his dirty face, and her motherly instincts resurface. She carries

she does this, I do not quite understand, but the traits such as her size, strength, name, and motherly instincts may provide the

think. The winding, twisting roads of Eastern Kentucky have picturesque scenery, but many of the people here are struggling in
these hills. The people of Eastern Kentucky have been dependent on the coal industry to feed their families and pay their bills,
but this once thriving industry has been on the decline in recent years. Without coal, Eastern Kentucky is facing a grim future and
many of its residents are struggling with the effects of losing one of their main employment opportunities. Many people in this
region face poverty every day and with the prospects grim, poverty is an ongoing issue. According to Merriam Webster, poverty
is defined as the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. If you drive
