that they are witnessing firsthand the imprisonment and inhumane treatment of innocent animals.
Wildlife should not be kept captive where they are exposed to overwhelming isolation, a shortened life
span, and in the rare occasion when they are released back into the wild deprived of natural instincts to
help them survive.
Similar to humans, animals are living creatures who require interaction with their own kind; however,
when they are kept in captivity these animals are frequently exposed to isolation. Wild animals
commonly live in groups, whether it be a pride of lions, pack of wolves or a pod of whales. One
particular example pertains to the natural grouping of elephants in the wild versus the complete
solitary environment in which they are kept in when captive. That being said, elephants naturally live
within large family groups and are one of the most socially complex animals outside of man. Yet in
zoos they are kept either alone or with only one or two other unrelated elephants ( Los Angeles Times,
n.p.). As if removing them out of their natural habitat was not enough, zoos separate animal s families

It is disappointing to know that so many of the young men of Epworth are shirking their duty. Surely
they do not expect the women to fight their battles for them, to do all that can be done, whilst they

1. Background
I serve as a pastoral intern at the Vineyard Christian Church of Evanston. This marks my second year
of internship at this church. I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of becoming familiar with the
culture of a non denominational setting of the church. The Evanston Vineyard comprises of 57 nations
of the world. The church is not only unique because of this particular diversity (for example, there is a
Spanish speaking congregation that convenes every Sunday in the La Viña auditorium, one of multiple

During my conversation with Muria, I was mindful of learning about her as a person her interests, her
passion and her serious mindedness about what kind of help she would like to offer to the church and

Bywater is a professor at Dixie State University, He teaches expository english and has his way of
doing so. On every Tuesday of the semester a printed draft is to be brought into class for class

One?
World War One was known as the First World War or The Great War. It began on the 28th of July
1914 and lasted until the 11th of November 1918. Thirty countries were involved in the war. Over nine
million soldiers died and twenty one million were wounded. Undeniably World War One was one of
the biggest and most devastating wars in history. Trench warfare took those who signed up by
complete surprise. A war that was intended to be all about movement became stagnant. Soldiers were
very much stuck in the trenches and experienced horrendous conditions. As a result the use of
terrifying new technologies not used before were created in a response to the conditions of trench
warfare. This resulted in trench warfare being changed forever due to the introduction of the tank in

The tank was the first armored machine to be used. It was adapted from tractors and its goal was to
break through the heavily fortified trenches and offer protection to the troops from any artillery fire.
