Good Citizenship Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Good Citizenship" may present both challenges and
opportunities for reflection. The difficulty lies in navigating the broad and abstract nature of the
subject, as "good citizenship" can encompass a wide array of concepts and perspectives.
Defining what constitutes a good citizen and exploring the responsibilities and virtues associated
with it requires careful consideration and a nuanced approach.
One of the challenges is striking a balance between idealism and realism. While it's tempting to
delve into lofty ideals of citizenship, grounding the essay in practical examples and real-world
scenarios adds depth and credibility. Additionally, addressing the cultural and contextual
variations of good citizenship poses another layer of complexity. The expectations and norms for
citizens can differ across societies, making it important to acknowledge these variations while
still presenting a universal understanding.
Furthermore, crafting an engaging and insightful essay involves thorough research to support
your arguments. This requires sifting through diverse sources, from historical perspectives to
contemporary viewpoints, to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic. The ability to
synthesize information coherently and present a well-structured argument is crucial for the
success of the essay.
On a personal level, reflecting on one's own experiences and beliefs about good citizenship can
be a challenging yet rewarding aspect of the writing process. Articulating one's thoughts on civic
duties, community involvement, and ethical considerations demands introspection and self-
awareness.
Despite the difficulties, writing an essay on "Good Citizenship" offers an opportunity for
personal growth and intellectual exploration. It encourages critical thinking about societal values,
individual responsibilities, and the interconnectedness of communities. In overcoming the
challenges, the writer can develop a deeper understanding of the topic and contribute to the
ongoing conversation about what it means to be a good citizen in today's complex world.

Essay on Fenian Movement
Fenian Movement
The word Fenian comes from Irish folklore. It is described as an ancient group of
knights who were independent and had a form of nationalism for their homeland of
Ireland. According to the legend, Irish rebels who were known as knights gave up a
chance for world dominion by leaving their country to keep Ireland alive, through
their pride for the country. In 1848, a movement struck in Ireland, to achieve
independence from England by using force. The movement was led by a group of
revolutionaries called Young Ireland. This movement was led by William Smith O
Brian. Also a part of this group was seven other rebellious Irish leaders. The group
influenced Britain s and the United States foreign and domestic ... Show more content

Death and famine were causing the people to suffer in Ireland.
Landlords were trying to find the problem to the deaths. Landlords knew exactly
what to do. They evicted hundreds and thousands of peasants, because the work
was not getting done (Considine 76). Unemployment was the view of the workers
due to soldiers coming home from the Napoleonic Wars and more people were
dying from disease. As the farmlands of Ireland were being cleaned out, over the
period of time, emigration increased at an excessive rate. Many Irish residents left
for America and other English speaking countries. During the famine, nearly one
million people sought a new and richer life in the United States. Ship owners
crowded hundreds of Irish onto boats, later labeled coffin ships (Ruddy 43). These
ships reached port only after losing a third of their passengers to disease, hunger
and other causes. While Britain provided much relief for Ireland s starving
population, many Irish criticized Britain s delayed response and further blamed
centuries of British political oppression to underline the causes of the famine. As
depression continued in Ireland, two million more people left to seek this new life.
But even leaving wasn t the cure. The Irish were already stressed out due to the
economy caused by its Poor Law System.
Due to the Poor Law system, the Irish people weren t
Motif And Motifs In Macbeth
Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth
Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or
murder; coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of
accountability for the crimes. Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that
Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of Duncan. While trying to
secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions whether he
should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps
aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when
it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he
does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related
to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil
he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing
Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not
acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is
after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and
guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I
dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne,
Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights
Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has
done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even
after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for
the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their
succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking
to Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf
up the tender eye of pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54).
Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so
violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day. Related to both passages, Macbeth
does not want anyone to
Case Study Of Paul s False
Paul organized a country western concert in Bakersfield during the time that a major
rodeo was in town. He made the following arrangements for the concert: Paul
contracted with Alice, who owned Cowboy Auditorium, for the concert venue. Paul
chose Cowboy Auditorium because it seats 20,000 people. The contract, which was
signed by Paul and Alice, required any changes to be in writing and signed by both
parties. The rental price was $400,000. Paul sold out Cowboy Auditorium for the
concert. A month later, and three days before the concert, Alice informed Paul that
the roof of Cowboy Auditorium had collapsed during a rainstorm and that it could not
be repaired before Paul s concert date. Alice quickly offered to rent Paul another
auditorium that

Coca Cola and Lynx Marketing
Introduction
We have been given a work placement with a local marketing firm who have
accounts with a number of clients. Each client is engaged at various stages in the
product development process. We are to analyse two products of our choice then

Thing Is Head Essay
Thing is Head, which is one of the nominal group functions reflecting its logical
structure, and it is structure that reflects the relationship of sub categorization. The
other elements that co occur with Head are the premodifier and postmodifier. The
logical analysis expresses the recursive aspect of the modifying relation, providing
a univariate structure. The experiential structure concerns how meaning is
expressed in the group as the organization of experience. The crucial question is
how and whether the head is modified. The head is not always be modified into

However, at the same time, many people have realized the value of the metal truss
bridge as a historic artifact and a beautiful structure that
is so much more intricate and complex than the simple concrete or steel bridges built
today. Currently in most cases, government response to this growing public demand
has been minimal and is mostly limited to initiating surveys of historic bridges to
determine which bridges are historic. With some exceptions, government does very
little with their historic bridges beyond these assessments however. In Ontario, these
bridges have and continue to face demolition, however in many cases Ontario repairs
bridges as part of a routine maintenance, but rarely for the reasons of saving history.
In the United States, where replacement is the preferred option over repair when
dealing with deficient structures, these bridges face demolition even more frequently.
A number of factors make pin connected truss bridges historically significant as a
whole. Truss bridges represent a period in the development of bridge technology.
Significant experimentation and developments occurred during this period as bridge
design moved toward a general standardization. During the 1860s and 1870s, bridge
companies received numerous patents in the United States, testifying to this period of
development. The classic pin connected Pratt truss bridge is what essentially came

The Threepenny Opera Essays
What keeps mankind alive? Answer the question with reference to the actions of
characters in The Threepenny Opera. In The Threepenny Opera, Bertolt Brecht,
through the writing of the song Second Threepenny Finale What Keeps Mankind
Alive in Scene Six, gives us the idea that mankind is kept alive by bestial acts (page
55, line number 18). In my opinion, although the idea to associate human beings with
beasts, or more specifically, human behaviour with bestial acts looks peculiar, some
characters, in their pursuit of desires and wants, do reflect an inhuman nature, which
makes them beast like . In the play, we can see the constant, uncontrollable longing
of food (page 55 number 9) of some characters. In my opinion,... Show more content

In my view, Mac is really, as what Polly and Lucy comment, a man who is not
worth [so] [many] commitments (page 68). Besides sexual urges, money is
another piece of juicy meat that attracts the most number of characters and leads
them to inhuman deeds. An obvious example is Jenny. Upon the bribe of Mrs.
Peachum, she decides to betray Mac in spite of the companionship between them.
Worse, she is not impressed by Mac s belief that a woman with name beginning
with a P (instead of a J as suggested by Jenny) will betray her, and goes on turning
him in to Constable Smith. Finally, when Mr. Peachum refuses to give her the
reward for turning Mac in, Jenny gets furious, blames the Peachums for black[ing]
[Mac s] boots (page 58) and tells them how bad she feels for having [sold] the last
sportsman left in London (page 58). In my view, Jenny is such a hypocrite and
money fanatic that the example about her is itself, the best manifestation of what is
suggested in the song as however much you twist, whatever lies you tell.... Morals

Physician Assisted Suicides
Imagine suffering day to day with consistent hospital visits, numerous medications,
and unbearable pain for the next six months of your life, then being told that dying
peacefully is not a granted privilege. Then imagine not being able to die in a
controlled and dignified process like you prefer to. How would that affect the way
you feel about deathand the rest of your life you have left? Millions of people
suffering from terminal illnesses consider physician assisted suicide, but their wishes
are rejected due to state and government beliefs. In fact, only five states out of fifty
have a law permitting citizens the right to participate in physician assisted suicide.
That leaves just only 10% of the United States entitling critically ill patients to die
with nobility. However, many citizens are commencing to lean toward physician
assisted suicides once they ascertain they hold a terminal illness.... Show more content

With self interest, patients inquire a legal doctor about their privilege of a controlled
death by oral medication. Physician Assisted Suicides allow a competent adult
resident of the state to obtain a prescription from a physician for a lethal dose of
medication, for the purpose of causing death through self administration (Ganzini 77).
Aid in dying is a term commonly used for physician assisted suicide. In other words,
Physician Assisted Suicides permit terminal patients and physicians to work together
to accommodate a licit planned death. Furthermore, with the permission of AID, a
physician writes a prescription for the life ending medication for a terminally ill,

The Similarities Between Ireland And The United States
The difference of the prevalence of alcohol rates in between Ireland, the United
States and the Netherlands are different in various ways. Ireland has the highest
rate of cases for alcoholism. In Ireland, which has a 54% rate of cases for alcohol
abuse, you can buy alcohol anytime of the day. The United States have an alcohol
rate of 33% and the Netherlands has a rate of 24%. A person cannot buy alcohol in
the later evening hours of the United Statesor in the Netherlands. In Ireland, alcohol
is available more now than it ever was before. A person can buy alcohol day or
night. Since the smoking ban took effect in 2004, more and more people have been
drinking at home. People can afford to buy more alcohol from a store then at a bar
because it is cheaper. And the more alcohol a person buys the more at risk they are to
consume larger amounts. Which in turn, the rates for alcoholism go up.... Show more

Studies have shown that alcoholism is most common in Caucasians, people with
some college education, and people with an annual income of 75k or more. Among
the United States full time students aged 18 22, 58.4% reported drinking alcohol.
An estimated 12.7% of college students admitted to heavy drinking and 39% of
college students reported binge drinking in the past month. These percentages are
much high in the same age group that do not go to college. Which says that non
college students are more likely to have problems with alcoholism then college
students in the United States. In the Netherlands in the 1975 1992 the alcohol
consumed per liter rose to the highest rates from 1975 to 1992 total per capita 15+

Carbon Monoxide Research Paper
In Superior Wisconsin, the CO alarm of a neighbor could have saved two people
over the holiday season. Two individuals had been sickened as a result of carbon
monoxide poisoning, and they had to be taken to the Superior hospital, where they
had been listed as stable. When firefighters responded to the call about carbon
monoxide, they learned of the deadly carbon monoxide levels inside the apartment
building located on the 1500 block of Broadway.
During the initial monitoring, they found low levels of carbon monoxide. Around
five parts per million within the hallway of the apartment, but one apartment on the
first floor had excess levels that reached above 70 ppm. During further investigation,
firefighters discovered that a malfunctioning furnace was the culprit for the higher
levels of CO. To make matters worse, the carbon monoxide detector had the battery
removed, which could have proven a fatal mistake if the neighboring apartment had
not had a detector that triggered the alarm. It alerted everyone within that building

The Effect Of Parapsychology On The Existence Of Science
Not a lot of people can say they have had a paranormal experience. It is the kind of
thing that happens once in a lifetime, and usually it is not anything big. But those
who do have these experiences pertain that belief in the supernatural, and it is these
documented experiences that have brought about the study of parapsychology. Is
there something to these claims or is it due to mental illusions? Parapsychology is a
highly debated branch of science because of the existence of phenomena that cannot
be explained, the main argument being in the existence of physics and whether there
is something beyond or not. s Parapsychology is the study of supernatural phenomena
or more specifically, psychicphenomena. Most parapsychologists divide... Show more

Even the learned expressed interest in these, however, the wide acceptance of these
occurrences may have been due to the insufficient education of the general public.
After the Enlightenment, which occurred in the 18th century, the existence of deities
and magic was more widely contested and doubted, leading to the discrediting of
these phenomena as science. One of the first scientists to attempt a scientific study of
psychic phenomena was Franz Anton Mesmer in the 1700 s; he experimented with
and attempted to patent the mesmerism technique, more commonly known as
hypnotism. Even though his method did not achieve scientific recognition, shifting
religious beliefs allowed for the widespread Spiritualism movement, which allowed
for the use of mediums and the like (Psychicscience.org). Modern parapsychology
came about in the 1920 s with the invention of statistical tools and the efforts of a
researcher by the name of J.B. Rhine. Rhine had three aims through his experiments:
to provide data on parapsychological phenomena rather than to attempt to prove their
existence, to achieve scientific recognition and to prove that psychic ability was not
limited to certain people and was a part of human psyche all along just waiting to be
discovered. Though he was not necessarily successful in his goals, Rhine did change
his field in that now psychic study is not limited to individuals with psychic talent,
rather a
Immigration Settlement And Spatial Assimilation
Immigration settlement and spatial assimilation lead to a diversity of segregation
patterns among many groups throughout U.S. history. Dating back to the 1900 s as
much as 90% of Blacks lived in southern states. Douglas Massey stated in his
Residential Segregation essay that these southern states contained only 25% of
whites, most Blacks lived in rural counties that yielded a large portion of segregated
and racially isolated minorities. Shifting ahead to today, racially segregated
neighborhoods share a common theme, many Blacks cluster into neighborhoods that
are in and around urban areas that seem to be close to the city center. Massey
explains that the concentration of space that Black peopleoccupy in these areas is
increasingly becoming confined into smaller, compacted areas. I feel Massey is
explaining that Blacks living in these areas are essentially getting pushed out in an
effort to re build or cleanup the areas. Robert Bullard explained in the section
Zoning and Land Use, which Blacks are frequently the victims of unregulated
growth, and land use decisions are powered by dominant society regardless of the
circumstances on these neighborhoods. These neighborhoods that are occupied by
minorities are commonly known as Ghetto s. In order to get a better understanding of
this term, I researched it online. The definition of ghetto on Dictionary.com is a
section of a city, especially a thickly populated slum area, inhabited predominantly by
members of an ethnic or
Isolation In Jane Eyre
In the novel, Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte portrays how isolation and exile can cast
a damaging effect on one s life through a foil between Jane and Bertha. Initially
Jane was worth nothing while on the other hand, Bertha was initially rich,
beautiful, and everyone wanted to marry her. The roles were switched. Jane
established herself, somewhat, and Bertha went crazy . Jane was isolated as a
child physically and mentally. Jane was locked in the red room for over a night.
Mentally she was isolated because as a child she lived with people from a different
social class than her own. Bertha was insane because she had been locked in a room
for fifteen years. Damaging effects came from this. Bertha Mason bit a man, caught
the house on fire, and
Existential Behavior Is An Individual
Sartre addresses how this means one relates to one s self by stating existential
behavior is acting with choice every time, you seek to determine the original
choice you make. Existential behavior is decoding the attitude of the person which
makes an individual not a unity. Existential behavior is the original choice
operating in the face of the world and being a choice of position in the world is
total like the complex; it is prior to logic like complex (Sartre, pg. 71). Sartre gets
his point across to us by explaining to us how empirical and extensional behavior
differ and how they are similar. The principle of this psychoanalysis is that man is
a totality not a collection. Consequently he expresses himself as a whole in even
the most insignificant and his most superficial behavior (Sartre, pg.68). It is much
easier to see existential behavior the empirical behavior due to the fact that you
can see other people exercising their free will. Empirical behavior is the idea of
unconsciousness that deals with how you act more objectively, scientific and fact
based. This is what makes an individual a unity and is also the principle of
existential psychoanalysis. Empirical psychoanalysis seeks to determine the
complex, the very name of which indicates the polyvalence of all the meaning
which are referred back to (Sartre, pg.71). Because empirical psychoanalysis is your
initial state, it is argued that the revelations that are made can be fixed conceptually if
needed. It is
Catch-22, by Joseph Heller
Catch 22 is a story about the different personalities that can be involved in a war. Out
of all the different archetypes, the three I ve chosen are John Yossarian, Albert
Tappman, and Milo Minderbinder, although, not in that order. The first character
being analyzed is Yossarian, the unwilling hero of this book. Although the book
labels Yossarianas the main character, he constantly tries to coward out of going to
battle. The second character that will be described is Milo Minderbinder, the
archetypical business person of Catch 22.He runs the camp mess hall and controls
what everyone in the camp is buying, selling, and eating. Milo is constantly trying to
control or manipulate the economies around him, and after he gets a large commission

The quote above describes the relationship with Colonel Cathcart, in which Cathcart
has a worrying doubt about Yossarian and his role in the squadron. Yossarian
complains to Doc Daneeka about Colonel Cathcart s dictum regarding the mission

who he actually is. One of the main points within the story is when the soldiers

Interracial Marriages In The 1950 s
Have a good day at work honey! , is something that a housewive would say to their
working husbands in the mornings when they leave for work. Women were always
happier to be stay at home mothers due to the fact that it was their only role during
those times. The only things that they were responsible for was to make meals,
house chorus, and to care for the children. Men only had to work to maintain their
families, be always right, and always gave inspiring moral advice. Since the family
roles in the 1950 s were much more simple, many people believed that those were the
best times to start a family. That wasn t the whole truth of the family construction in
the 50 s, and it wasn t the best time to live due to the fact that there was so much

Interracial marriages was one of the different forms of structure. Now more than
ever there are more and more families from different races that are being married.

have both been divorced with children. Due to the fact that her second husband is
older than her, so are his children. In the 1950 s such marriages were not acceptable

modern family but also was that homosexual marriages. Homosexuals were never

homosexuals would be able to be married, much less be able to have a family. In

Difference Between A Leader And A Boss
The hardest element while being an entrepreneur is leading a team. Take special
notice of what was said there; lead and team. As one goes about life trying to climb
the ladder within a workplace, he/she will often lose sight of what is genuinely
important: attitude and servitude. One will become so caught up in the success that
he/she will become a bossfigure; except when this happens, the person is not
successful. This alters one s future and relationships, not only in the workplace but
also in the home life, in essence affecting the community as a whole. Leaders and
bosses run communities, but there is a definite difference between the two styles. In
today s society, a boss must work to become a great leader.
So the question is, what is the difference between a leader and a boss? The answer
is easy; it s the way they think. If one searched Leader vs. Boss on the internet, the
person would probably find the quote Bosses push while leaders pull by Dave
Ramsey. What that means is that a boss will tell a team what to do while a leader
will do it with them. This is because he/she will participate in the workload and take
the fall for them if something goes wrong. Andy Stanley s tells in his podcast that
someone should always try to never over complicate situations. He says, One must
aspire to be the dumbest person in the room . This will push the person to surround
himself/herself with smarter people; this will help the person grow because one can
never be finished.

The Marine Mammal Protection Act was established and signed in 1972. According
to Ray and Potter (2011), this bill was passed, despite some times contentious
testimony, without significant opposition or debate by both the House of
Representatives and the Senate and was signed into law on 21 October 1972 . This
particular environmental act sought to protect whales, dolphins, ... Show more content

Congress created the Marine Mammal Protection Act as a reaction to the public s
concern that human activities were threatening to extinguish certain species of
marine mammals. As Dye (1993) states, Congress enacted the MMPA to prohibit the
harassing, catching and killing of marine mammals by U.S. citizens or within the
jurisdiction of the United States .
The MMPA is managed by primarily by both the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS)
external and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) external.
The Marine Mammal Commission (MMC) external was bought in also to review and
amend existing policies. This group of three members, chosen by the U.S. President,
is appointed for three year terms. The FWS and NOAA have different roles in
protecting marine mammals; the first taking responsibility for sea otters, walruses,
polar bears, manatees; the latter taking responsibility for pinnipeds, including seals
and sea lions, and cetaceans such as whales and dolphins. Also, the Animal and Plant
Health Inspection Service external, part of the Department of Agriculture, is
accountable for the regulations managing marine mammals in captivity.
There have been a number of amendments to the MMPA since 1972. According to
Risenhoover (2012), these amendments have added more legislation or, in some
parts, lessened the regulations . An example is the International Dolphin Conservation

Theme Of Fire In Fahrenheit 451
Fire, the symbol of warmth, destruction, and renewal, is a dominant image in the
novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Guy Montag, the protagonist, lives in a
grim, futuristic United States where people have given up books and knowledge in
general for entertainment and instant gratification. The standard use of fire to warm
and heat has been replaced to be used for destruction and entertainment. Montag s
job as a fireman clearly shows this, as he is required to burn books and houses.
Montag s understanding of fire and burning as destruction is completely reversed by
the end of the book when he regards it as a symbol of warmth and renewal. Montag s
enjoyment of fire and burning is changed through his interactions with Clarisse and...

We can tell that he wanted to burn his house because He wanted to change
everything, the chairs, the tables, and in the dining room the silverware and plastic
dishes, everything that showed that he had lived here... (Bradbury 116). He
wanted to get rid of his old life and all memories of it. Beatty had said Burn all,
burn everything. Fire is bright and fire is clean (Bradbury 60). Beatty told Montag
that fire can be used for cleasing just burn anything that is a problem. Ironically,
Beatty is Montag s problem, so he follows his advice and burns him. With the use
of fire, Montag successfully gets rid of his previous life and Beatty, the person
who controlled him before. He is having a rebirth in life. After Montag barely
escapes the city, the true meaning of fire is shown to him. When he first see the
group of hobos with Harvard and Cambridge degrees, they were warming
themselves next to a fire talking and sharing ideas, making it a symbol of warmth.
The Phoenix, a bird of fire, appears in the end as a symbol of renewal and rebirth.
Granger compares mankind to a phoenix when he said, But every time he burnt
himself up he sprang out out of the ashes, he got himself born all over again. And it
looks like we re doing the same thing... (163). He thinks that humankind has one
advantageous trait compared to this bird, and that is learning from its mistakes.

Different Types Of Staph Infections
Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus is a gram positive bacterium. It is accountable for numerous
conditions when it crosses the threshold into the human body. The bacterium may
also be referred to as a Staph infection . There are more than 28 different types of
staphylococcus aureus that are responsible for cellulitis, blood poisoning, and various
others. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus is also a type of staphylococcus
aureus. Staph infections are curable with different antibiotics. Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus aureus is a microorganism that appears on several diverse surfaces.
This bacterium lives harmlessly on the skin as part of the normal flora. Hard
surfaces are also covered in S. aureus. The microorganism is gram positive. ... Show

Staph infections can spread from person to person in group living situations (like
college dorms). Usually this happens when people with skin infections share personal
things like bed linens, towels, or clothing. Warm, humid environments can contribute
to staph infections (Staph, 2016). Infections from the staph families are especially
common in teens and young adults due to the amount of sharing and touching this
age group do. It is important to educate adolescents about the damage that a staph
infection can have on the body. Americans should also be diligent about having good
hygiene in order to reduce the chance of getting an infection.
The staph infections can range from somber to flesh eating infections. A common
skin condition that staph is able to cause is cellulitis. It is more common in people
who have a weakened immune system such as people who are immunocompromised,
infants, and the elderly. Cellulitis is characterized by a red, warm patch on the skin
paired with a fever. The bacteria that cause cellulitis can spread rapidly, entering
lymph nodes and your bloodstream. Recurrent episodes of cellulitis may cause
chronic swelling of the affected limb (Mayo, 2015). Cellulitis is spread extremely
easily, and is a big issue within long term care facilities. The infection can be cured
by antibiotics. However, there are cases reported stating that cellulitis is becoming
resistant to some antibiotics. The doctor can order a culture to send to pathology.
Case Report On Methotrexate
Adverse drug reaction : Case reports on methotrexate toxicity varied presentation.
Introduction :
In 1949, Sidney Farber, M.D., a pathologist and a clinician formed a theory that folic
acid is required for the growth of cancer cells and methotrexate being a folate
antagonist can be used to counter it. Since then it has been used in dermatology,
gynaecology, rheumatology and cancers.
Methotrexate formerly known as amethopterin is an antimetaboliteand
dermatologically it is FDA approved mainly for psoriasis and sezary syndrome.
Structurally it is 4 amino N methyl pteroylglutamic acid which is very much similar
to folic acid. It is competitive antagonist of dihydrofoltate reductase.

depression because of a broken heart; a story that may be familiar to most, but new to
others that have not experience love and destruction.
It all start October 2011, when a young woman and mother was working at a local
grocery store she had lived nearby home town, she met a young man that swipe her
off her feet the moment she laid eyes on him .The relation blossomed naturally, the
couple decided to move into an apartment together. They saved all their money

brought her a car, joined a church, got her G.E.D, and enrolled into college. All was
well for her, but she later on took the young man back. Again he broke her heart.

Survival Analysis for Evaluation of Mortality in Selected Body Weight Lines of
Japanese quails Using Cox Model
Abstract:
Quail rising has become an important poultry business in the world.
The objective of this study was to carry out survival analysis to evaluate and quantify
risk factors involved in mortality of Japanese quail. Survival analysis and Cox
proportional hazards model were used to describe mortality in Japanese quail with
hatch weight and post hatch body weight as a risk factors. Weight is a variable
change with time, so it is considered time dependent covariate.
Survival function distribution and Kaplain Meier curve showed that mortality was
higher in the line selected for high compared to low and control line. Log rank test
used for testing equality of survival distributions for the different levels of selected
lines (Log Rank value = 9.898) resulted P value = 0.007** which is a highly
significant.
Mortality declined when post hatch body weight increased. Body weight at hatch did
not significantly affect mortality. However, post hatch body weight affects mortality
significantly with P value (0.011) and hazard ratio (1.009). Any factor that
influences growth after hatching may likely have a direct impact on mortality.
Deficiency of water, feed, warmth, and potential negative social interaction are
factors that could affect mortality immediately after hatch. Through survival analysis,
the present study has revealed that factors affecting post hatch BW
Examples Of Deviance In The Office
The Office is a comedic mockumentary that takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania
and focuses on the lives of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company Inc. employees over the
course of nine years. It has many characters, but mainly centers around Michael Scott,
the regional manager, Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert (both salesman) and Pam Beesly,
the receptionist. Over its nine seasons, the show has displayed many sociological
concepts, but has the most examples of deviance, sex and gender, socialization and
social interaction and groups and organization. Deviance in The Officeis displayed
mainly through one of its minor characters, Creed Bratton. While he appears to be a
normal person, he often reveals things that are incriminating and is defined by his

In the episode Gay Witch Hunt , one of Dunder Mifflin s employees, Oscar Martinez,
is outed by the regional manager, Michael Scott, to all his employees. After he does
this, Oscar has to deal with the repercussions of being gay in the workplace, some
of which include dealing with homophobic questions and attitudes towards him,
especially from his more conservative co worker, Angela Martin. Later in the show,
Angela gets married to the senator of Scranton, and has a baby that, is later
revealed in the episode Jury Duty , conceived out of wedlock. The baby doesn t
end up being the senator s at all, but is instead another Dunder Mifflin employees ,
Dwight Schrute, after the two had an affair. Lastly, sexism in the workplace,
especially in the episode Back from Vacation , is shown to be a fairly large issue.
Michael Scott spreads around a picture of Jan Levinson, the vice president of sales
and his unofficial girlfriend, from their vacation in Jamaica in which she is nearly
naked. He does this without her approval, and it s spread to everybody in both the
office and to the warehouse, and eventually makes its way into the higher

What Is The Pricing Paradox
1.After doing some research, what is the Pricing Paradox? How is this best managed
by new entrepreneurs as they make their pricing decisions?
To understand what a pricing paradox is one must have a clear understanding of
what a paradox is. A paradox is a perception that many may classify as being
contradictory or absurd. If a statement is false it true, and if a statement is true it
has to in turn be false. For an example; No one frequents that restaurant because it is
always busy. This sentence is a paradox because if no one frequent the said
restaurant how can it always be busy? The pricing paradox belief is when you lower
the price, more people will buy your service or product. However this is not all that
is needed for a new entrepreneur price point to be successful. Positioning is key
when one is deciding prices. Branding and perceived value is very important.
When someone price their product or service at a higher price customers perceive
that product or service value is higher. Having a more expensive price shows a
product s quality and exclusiveness. If a price is too low customers perceive the
product or service as being one that is cheap and of poor quality. One wants to
position themselves not on the basis of competing with price but where price
increase the bottom line because it shows value. Pricing can be a way to stand out ...

One does not know if their competition pricing has be profitable. One does not
know their competitions overhead cost or other expenses. These things need to be
known if one is considering following a competitor s pricing. Pricing needs to be

part of the business that is decided depending on various external factors. One has to
do thorough research when it comes to pricing because a price can affect the position

First Conceptualised By Keith Hart In 1973, The Notion
First conceptualised by Keith Hart in 1973, the notion of informality is broadly
defined as explaining activities which fall beyond the regulation of the state, often
resulting from the absence of one or more forms of state... regulation (Sinha and
Kanbur, 2012:2). However, according to McFarlane and Waibel (2012), informality
itself is a nebulous term due to its wide reaching focus from poverty to marginality,
from livelihoods to inequality. They describe informality as more of a metaphor
rather than a concept due to the fluidity and uncertainty of the term, however, they do
agree that informality plays a crucial role not only in the global South, but beyond
(McFarlane and Waibel, 2012:1). In many instances, the state itself has been... Show

The stagnation of the global Southern countries in Latin America, Eastern Europe and
Africa occurred in the 1970s and 80s when these countries found themselves trapped
by levels of debt to international public and commercial banks (Williams, 1994:214).
Fearing another global depression, large banks and organisations such as the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) embarked upon structural adjustment programs
(SAPs) in these heavily indebted countries with the aim of restructuring their
traditional economies seen in the global North as symptoms of backwardness
(Moser, 1994). The ability to qualify for monetary aid from the global North was
conditional on the adoption of a range of policies (Craig and Porter, 2003:60) set out
by these organisations believed to be necessary for debt sustainability; central to
which was the theory of neoliberalism . The first main condition was the devaluing of
the local currency, intended to encourage exports and limit imports (Williams, 1994),
with the second policy agreement being the reduction in the size of the government
bureaucracy. The initial reason for the debt pile up in these countries was seen as
being due to governmental mismanagement, and therefore money was allocated for
the restructuring of the state governments in order to correct their inefficiency. As a
result of the withdrawing
Essay on Confronting Inequality

In the article Confronting Inequality Paul Krugman compares the new millennia to
the 1970 s and has many financial stats to back his theory of income inequality. He
backs up his claims with facts and figures, but also gives his own solutions to these
problems. Krugman states, The ugliness of our politics is in large part a reflection
of the inequality of our income distribution. He states that in the 1960 s was that the
governments was in place to sere the best interests of society and that many in
modern society believe that government only serves a few big interests .

What really is bothersome and infuriates me on a personal level is that jobs are
exported abroad and yet you hear that the the immigrants are wrecking the system.
Many people assume that illegal immigrants come to this country because they
want to live the American dream. I have to agree with that, however, I have to
disagree with what has been said in the past that many have lost their jobs due to
those immigrants that are willing to do the job for minimum wage and most often
willing to do it for less. They too pay taxes on those few dollars they earn for their
hard work.
I agree that we need to find a solution for income equality as well as social equality,
something that more than likely never occur. No one s race or culture is better than
the next, we should all be entitled to an equal chance. Bottom line is, we all want to
provide a better living as well as a better education for our children in an equal
society. I feel the government should do more to reduce it, Economic inequality has
not only created unequal opportunity in our country, but has left the lower and middle
income families to struggle, damaging our society. Economic inequality, the extent of
disparity between high income and low income households, is rising in the United
States. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Some argue that
economic inequality is beneficial as it motivates an individual to innovate and
specialize to create goods

that all the characters had played a part in the suicide of a girl called Eva Smith. In
some ways, all the characters are responsible for the death of Eva Smith, each one
of them did something that affected her in some way or another. Overall I feel that
some characters were more responsible than others for many different reasons. In the
book we see several different reactions from the characters when they find out that
they are caught up in the suicide, some were upset and distressed and others just tried
to pass the blame to others and tried to excuse what they had done. The characters

The Youth Criminal Justice Act
In Spring 2009, three offenders, all in grade eleven , set two houses is Sherwood
park on fire. The youth criminal justice Act (YCJA) provided opportunities for them
to reintegrate and rehabilitate, instead of throwing them in jail. YCJA covers kids
between the ages twelve to seventeen years old. It s purpose is to handle youth
offenders more differently than adults because of their undeveloped minds. The
YCJA was released back in 2003. By protecting the rights and providing Youth
Canadians the support they need, the YCJA benefits the offenders in a positive way.
The act gentrust the youth a second chance to make sure they don t reoffend by
rehabilitating and reintegrating them. Also youth over the age 14 years can get an
adult sentence if necessary. Therefore, the YCJA is an effective law because it
supports everyone; youth will acquire the help they need and Public Safety is insured.
One of the most important components in the YCJA is that it allows youth to
receive a second chance. After they have been rehabilitated, and five years have
passed, their criminal record will be sealed. In addition, the act will enforce and
conceal the identity of the young offender. The media ban allows the twelve year old
girl who murdered her family (consists of three people) will eventually be able to
apply for the job of her preference. She is less likely to be rejected and the will not be
recognized by the public since she was covered by the media ban. Criminal record
Apollo 13 Stoichiometry
In the lab sodium hydrogen carbonate will react with hydrochloric acid. Then with
the data gained from the lab, the use of stoichiometry is used to calculate the mass of
the product, and compare the theoretical data to the actual data to calculate the
percent error. When reacting the two compounds, it is placed over a heat source. The
stoichiometry in the equation is to calculate the theoretical mass, or calculated mass,
that is reacted from the compounds. The actual amount was the mass of the product
received in the lab. An example how stoichiometry was used was during the Apollo
13. The Apollo 13 had two air tanks that had blown up causing the trip to the moon to

Then with a pipet, place slowly with hydrochloric acid, 10 ml, into the sodium
hydrogen carbonate until the bubbles stop. Then with the product, heat until it
seems as if all the water in the dish is evaporated. Originally the product was
supposed to be 2.09g of hydrochloric acid, however there was a miscalculation of
the mass of the sodium hydrogen carbonate, and that mass turned out to be 3.07g.
The final mass for the product was supposed to be 2.14g as a mass of the product.
After all the procedures were completed, the mass that was received from the lab
calculations was 2.45g. This was a 114.55 percent error to the lab. The large error
could have lead to many different things. One of the things that the error could
have been caused was miss calculating the mass. While measuring the sodium
hydrogen carbonate, the mass of the evaporating dish mass, 46.50g, had altered
when it was zeroed and put the 3.00g of the sodium hydrogen carbonate. Then it
was massed again together and it was 49.57g. Another possible way that the mass
was altered the way it was, it that all the water wasn t evaporated. There was also a
little splatter outside the dish. That helped lessening the mass that was already too
big. Finally an important error that happened was not letting the evaporating dish
cool after it was heated. Those are some ways that the lab error could

step behind her, breathing down her neck. It is almost as if he is smothering her
and unintentionally annoying her. Without communication between them she
goes to her dad asking for help, saying she would give up her beauty to be left
alone, Transform me and destroy that beauty by which I have too well pleased.
From here her father comes into play to protect her like any other father would and
hardens her into a tree reassuring her protection and only being distinguishable is
her warm glow. The rest of this passage is Ovid reaching out trying to help Sappho.
Wondering what is wrong and saying that it will all be better with his help. This
relates to the passage above because it is about Sappho feeling as if he is being too
nosey just like how he is constantly asking her what is wrong. In both passages he
just wants to help but is going about it the wrong way. The theme of this passage for
her is protection. Running to her dad asking for help, having a hardening of bark

The gravity of my decision to become the first person in my family to apply to

Masculinity In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Maybe there is a beast... maybe it s only us. (Golding). This line comes from the
book Lord of The Flies a book about a group of boys stranded trying to create a
colony, and all of the troubles they face. A number of the troubles they actually
face come from their own doing, arising because of the way that they learned to
behave very masculinely. The boys are all trying to appear dominant and repress
their emotions so they don t look weak or feminine to the other boys, much like how
men in today s culture try to do. So, what would happen if boys were brought up in a
more supportive and less harsh culture? Would men appear more communicative and
open to their emotions, or would they stay the same? Boys and men growing and
maturing in today s society should not be pressured into suppressing emotions and
killing all semi feminine parts about themselves.
When men and boys are trying to show no emotion and appear dominant to their
peers, nobody wins. Men are taught this from a young age, to grow up and be a Man .
Which in society s terms means to have anger issues, treat women as an inferior, and
to be over controlling of everything. That kind of toxic masculinity is a reason for
many troubles in a multitude of peoples lives. Little boys and Little girls start off
emotionally equal...both boys and girls are like a stereotypical girl. Society
influences the way our boys behave. All though some boys may still behave this
way; as a result of them just having a personality
Experiment Synthesis Essay
The project s hypothesis is: if the type of biomass is vegetable peels then the
amount of biogas produced will increase. This project tests the amount of biogas
produced when cow manure is combined with different types of biomass (in this
case, mashed bananas and vegetable peelings). It is an interesting project because
studying how biogas is produced, it is possible to see how this chemical reaction
happens. Biogas can be used for cooking, heating, and after going through a
transformation process it could be even used as fuel. If studied more, biogas could
have more functions. When choosing this experiment the hopes were to find out
what types of things easily found can increase the production of biogas, and how
could it be produced. Cows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And when the bananas were mixed with the cow manure (that also produces gas
by itself), the amount of gas produced was a lot bigger than the other options. The
predicted results were for the vegetable peelings + cow manure balloon would turn
out to be bigger at the end of the experiment , but the bananas combined with the
manure produced more gas than the expected. If repeated, the changes made
would be the place where the experiment happened and the type of bottles used.
The bottles used had drawings all over its surface, which made it hard to look at
what was going on, and placed (at the porch) where it had the risk of being dropped
because of the wind/any other natural causes or even because of people that could
walk by and drop it if not paying attention. The data does not support the hypothesis,
since the products that produced more biogas were not the vegetable peelings and
the cow manure. The average difference between the vegetable peelings
(approximately 0.6 cm) and the mashed bananas (approximately 2.5 cm) were 1.9 cm
The Circular Ruins And Miles Davis s Kind Of Blue
The products of one s emotions, skill, and craftsmanship can take many different
forms: art, music, and even in some cases, people. Jorge Luis Borges in The
Circular Ruins describes a man painstakingly working to create a Dream Man just
to find out that he is one himself. He, a manifestation of someone else s efforts has
the autonomy to inspire, or rather be inspired, to create a new dream man. In Miles
Davis s Kind of Blue, the work being created is spontaneous and without exception,

Borges is describing the power of imagination and dreams in his story. He is stating
that dreams can come true if you focus and work hard enough towards them. This
can be seen in the eventual creation of the dreamed man, despite the sorcerer s
struggles and changes of course. He simply wanted to dream [a man] completely,
in painstaking detail, and impose him upon reality (Borges 97) and he did just
that. The sorcerer had come to fill his entire soul (Borges 97) and he spent all of
his energy upon completing his task. Borges argues that regardless of what stands
in the way, one can achieve what they put their mind to. In the process, there will
be self discovery and it may or may not be all that they wanted, but discovery will
be made. The sorcerer is flooded with relief, with humiliation, [and] with terror
(Borges 100) when he realizes that he is also a dreamed man. He makes a
discovery about himself that is both threatening to his self image, but also
relieving because of his deeper self knowledge. Davis is pushing the envelope of
jazz with Kind of Blue (Urness). It is something that the world has not seen before
and, while based in what is already known, is trying to find what is possible. It
encourages the listener to push the boundaries of their lives and be willing to take
risks. Davis put his bandmates in uncomfortable situations in order to
Potassium Chromate Lab
The results obtained were consistent with the lab manual and the unknown sample
aligned well with the instructions that were given. The unknown sample was labeled
3 which was then combined with HCl and centrifuged, decanted, combined with
more HCl, centrifuged, and decanted again. The precipitate formed from the two
latter steps was then boiled and then combined with acetic acid and Potassium
Chromate to check for the presence of Pb2+. Upon mixing the precipitate with
acetic acid and Potassium Chromate, a bright yellow solution was formed with no
apparent precipitate. This bright yellow solution indicated that our unknown for part
A contained Lead Chromate. In part, B the liquid that was decanted in step 3 was to
be tested for the presence of either the presence of Barium or Calcium. The solution
was mixed with Ammonium hydroxide and then it was tested to make sure the
solution was basic. Ammonium carbonate was then added and the solution was
heated, cooled, centrifuged, and the liquid was discarded. The precipitated was
washed with water and centrifuged. Acetic acid was mixed with the precipitated and
dissolved until it was not cloudy. Ammonium hydroxide was mixed with the
unknown liquid. Potassium Chromate was then added and a yellow precipitate was
formed. The mixture was centrifuged and an orange liquid was formed and then
decanted. The remaining precipitate was then checked for the presence of barium by
adding HCl to dissolve it and was then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The HCl itself helped to separate the Lead ions from the Calcium ions. This is why
a precipitate was formed for use in Part A and the liquid was saved for Part B. This
worked due to differing KSP s as one compound was more soluble rather than the
other and thus the Lead, which was extremely insoluble with a low KSP formed a
precipitate with the addition of HCl since

United Kingdom s Royal Air Force is the world s oldest air force, created on April
1st 1918, it became the first air force independent from army or navy control. The
Royal Air Force (RAF) was the merger of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal
Naval Service, and was under command of the British Government Air Ministry.
The RAF was granted its independence because it was believed that it would allow
the opportunity to carry out the maximum effectiveness of what it was capable of,
and would allow the air force to provide the upmost proficiency in their missions.
The creation of the RAF in 1918, not only led to the first independent air force, but
also initiated what was to become the strongest and most powerful air force of its
time. Consisting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attacks on the most vulnerable targets were chosen: the destruction of oil,
transportation, the air craft industries were regarded as the most crucial targets, but
in what order they were attacked was decided upon operational experience of the
commander. The destruction caused by these strategic bombings placed a ceiling
on Germany s war production. The frequent attacks on the aircraft factories caused
significant interruption to the flow of things being manufactured for the war. In
effort to reduce the chance of factories being bombed, larger factories were
dispersed into smaller units, and in doing so these elaborate dispersals caused
additional acute problems in the supply. These attacks proved to be so effective that
it reduced the German aircraft production in France to a total of 2,500 aircrafts for
the whole war

Origin of Hindu Religion
A Hindu ( pronunciation (help·info), Devanagari: हिन्दु) is an
adherent of Hinduism, a set of religious, philosophical and cultural systems that
originated in the Indian subcontinent. The vast body of Hindu scriptures, divided into
Ељruti ( revealed ) and Smriti ( remembered ), lay the foundation of Hindubeliefs,
which primarily include dhГЎrma, kГЎrma, ahimsa and saб№ѓsДЃra. VedДЃnta and
yoga are one of the several core schools of Hindu philosophy, broadly known as the
SanДЃtana Dharma. The word Hindu is at times attributed to all persons professing
Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism or Sikhism as is used in the Constitution of India.[1]
With more than a billion adherents, Hinduism is the world s third largest religion.

The early medieval Puranas helped establish a religious mainstream among the pre
literate tribal societies undergoing acculturation. The tenets of Brahmanic Hinduism
and of the Dharmashastras underwent a radical transformation at the hands of the
Purana composers, resulting in the rise of a mainstream Hinduism that overshadowed
all earlier traditions.[14]
Though Islam came to India in the early 7th century with the advent of Arab traders
and the conquest of Sindh, it started to become a major religion during the later
Muslim conquest in the Indian subcontinent.[12] During this period Buddhism
declined rapidly and many Hindus converted to Islam. Numerous Muslim rulers such
as Aurangzeb destroyed Hindu temples and persecuted non Muslims; however some,
such as Akbar, were more tolerant. Hinduism underwent profound changes, in large
part due to the influence of the prominent teachers Ramanuja, Madhva, and
Chaitanya.[12] Followers of the Bhakti movement moved away from the abstract
concept of Brahman, which the philosopher Adi Shankara consolidated a few
centuries before, with emotional, passionate devotion towards the more accessible
avatars, especially Krishna and Rama.[15]

Despite of the booming smart device market, more Chinese software developers
began to target western markets. Compared to consumer products, information
technology products such as mobile apps can be distributed across the borders
virtually and no brick and mortar warehouse is needed at all. Chinese IT companies,
especially many startups, sometimes prefer to target foreign market first because of
better market structure, intellectual property protection, and mature consumers.
Compared to China and its more than 200 mobile app stores, Europe and the U.S.
have fewer number of, but more structured and regulated mobile application market
places. In addition, western consumers are in general more willing to pay for
software and apps as they install which could provide a more stable source of cash
flow.

A Very Brief Look at the Crusades
On the 27th of November in the year 1095, Pope Urban II issued a decree to a
council of the Church at Clermont in the French Auvergne saying Whoever for
devotion alone, not to gain honour or money, goes to jerusalem to liberate the
Church of God can substitute the journey for all penance (Tyerman 27). As the Pope
declared a first crusadeagainst the Muslims, he used forgiveness from sins as a
false incentive to get knights to join in his fight. In his letter of instruction, Urban
says that a barbaric fury has deplorably afflicted an laid waste the churches of God
in the regions of the Orient, referring to the turkish muslims that had destroyed
many of the churches in asian minor (Krey 42 43). The Turks would invade the
churches and desecrate and overthrow the alters, (Munro 5 8). The Seljuk Turks
invaded the lands of the christians, torturing and killing the Christians in ways that
were despicable. For example, they would cut the abdomen and tie the entrails to a
stake, then make them walk until all organs were out of the body (Munro 5 8).
These Muslims took a tract of land from the Greek Empire that would have taken
two months to walk across (Munro 5 8). Pope Urban II questioned everyone, asking
Whose duty is to avenge this and recover that land, if not yours? in his speech at
Clermont, declaring a jihad, or holy war against the Muslim Turks (Munro 5 8). As
Urban finished his speech to the Council at Clermont, all who were in attendance
shouted Deus lo volt!
From Sock Puppets to the First Ammendment to the...
Recommendations Using and managing a sockpuppet is an endeavor that
necessitates vigilance, training, and proficiency. The role of the sockpuppet is still
developing across the Internet, and it is important to recognize the historical
significance of pseudonyms and anonymous speech. Additionally, it is critical to
remember the unique, primarily autonomous nature of online communities, and the
negative impact that mandated identification could have on free speech. The value of
anonymity found in the use of a sockpuppet is profoundly connected to the
establishment of the United States of America. Although John Hancock and several
others signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution with their real
names, pseudonyms forged the journey to the freedoms outlined in those documents.
These early examples of sockpuppets disseminated publications which united
colonizers to fight for independence. The question of anonymity was not as important
as working together to fight persecution. The Silence Dogood letters, Common Sense,
The Federalist Papers, and other writings exemplify an author s purpose for
anonymity. This initial use of sockpuppets during the American Revolution carved a
precedent for the importance of anonymity and pseudonymity in the United States,
and, therefore, led to the First Amendment of the Constitution. As the world
continues to struggle with the pressure to challenge authority anonymously,
sockpuppets in online communities present a new playing

Good Citizenship Essays.pdf

  • 1. Good Citizenship Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Good Citizenship" may present both challenges and opportunities for reflection. The difficulty lies in navigating the broad and abstract nature of the subject, as "good citizenship" can encompass a wide array of concepts and perspectives. Defining what constitutes a good citizen and exploring the responsibilities and virtues associated with it requires careful consideration and a nuanced approach. One of the challenges is striking a balance between idealism and realism. While it's tempting to delve into lofty ideals of citizenship, grounding the essay in practical examples and real-world scenarios adds depth and credibility. Additionally, addressing the cultural and contextual variations of good citizenship poses another layer of complexity. The expectations and norms for citizens can differ across societies, making it important to acknowledge these variations while still presenting a universal understanding. Furthermore, crafting an engaging and insightful essay involves thorough research to support your arguments. This requires sifting through diverse sources, from historical perspectives to contemporary viewpoints, to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic. The ability to synthesize information coherently and present a well-structured argument is crucial for the success of the essay. On a personal level, reflecting on one's own experiences and beliefs about good citizenship can be a challenging yet rewarding aspect of the writing process. Articulating one's thoughts on civic duties, community involvement, and ethical considerations demands introspection and self- awareness. Despite the difficulties, writing an essay on "Good Citizenship" offers an opportunity for personal growth and intellectual exploration. It encourages critical thinking about societal values, individual responsibilities, and the interconnectedness of communities. In overcoming the challenges, the writer can develop a deeper understanding of the topic and contribute to the ongoing conversation about what it means to be a good citizen in today's complex world. • 2. Essay on Fenian Movement Fenian Movement The word Fenian comes from Irish folklore. It is described as an ancient group of knights who were independent and had a form of nationalism for their homeland of Ireland. According to the legend, Irish rebels who were known as knights gave up a chance for world dominion by leaving their country to keep Ireland alive, through their pride for the country. In 1848, a movement struck in Ireland, to achieve independence from England by using force. The movement was led by a group of revolutionaries called Young Ireland. This movement was led by William Smith O Brian. Also a part of this group was seven other rebellious Irish leaders. The group influenced Britain s and the United States foreign and domestic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Death and famine were causing the people to suffer in Ireland. Landlords were trying to find the problem to the deaths. Landlords knew exactly what to do. They evicted hundreds and thousands of peasants, because the work was not getting done (Considine 76). Unemployment was the view of the workers due to soldiers coming home from the Napoleonic Wars and more people were dying from disease. As the farmlands of Ireland were being cleaned out, over the period of time, emigration increased at an excessive rate. Many Irish residents left for America and other English speaking countries. During the famine, nearly one million people sought a new and richer life in the United States. Ship owners crowded hundreds of Irish onto boats, later labeled coffin ships (Ruddy 43). These ships reached port only after losing a third of their passengers to disease, hunger and other causes. While Britain provided much relief for Ireland s starving population, many Irish criticized Britain s delayed response and further blamed centuries of British political oppression to underline the causes of the famine. As depression continued in Ireland, two million more people left to seek this new life. But even leaving wasn t the cure. The Irish were already stressed out due to the economy caused by its Poor Law System. Due to the Poor Law system, the Irish people weren t
  • 3. Motif And Motifs In Macbeth Sight of Darkness: Analyzing Murder Motifs in Macbeth Throughout Shakespeare s Macbeth, the motif sight represents a terrible event or murder; coinciding with the event, while also highlighting Macbeth s lack of accountability for the crimes. Through the use of the motif sight, it is conveyed that Macbeth decides he must turn a blind eye to the murder of Duncan. While trying to secure the throne he is prophesied to have, Macbeth frequently questions whether he should interfere with fate s process. After speaking with Duncan, Macbeth steps aside and states, The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be /which the eye fears, when it is done, to see (1.4.59 60). Macbeth s thoughts to kill Duncan are so evil when he does it that Macbeth doesn t want to look. In addition, the eye is a directly related to the brain, therefore, by winking, Macbeth tries to avoid acknowledging the evil he may commit. To conclude, Macbeth cannot stomach the thought of killing Duncan so he must turn a blind eye to it; he will try to literally not see it, and not acknowledge it cognitively. Another example of Macbeth turning a blind eye is after the killing of Duncan. Macbeth discusses with Lady Macbeth the remorse and guilt he feels. He states, I am afraid to think what I have done. / Look at again I dare not (2.2.66 67). Even after killing Duncan in attempt to claim the throne, Macbeth refuses to look at Duncan and his dead body. This again highlights Macbeth s refusal to condone his deeds as he cannot bare to look at what he has done. The final sight motif used by Macbeth precedes the murder of Banquo. Even after Duncan is dead, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth cannot stand idle and wait for the crown to be delivered to them; they decree to remove any threats posed to their succession. For this reason, they hire three murderers to kill Banquo. While talking to Lady Macbeth about their plans, Macbeth responds, Come, seeling night, / scarf up the tender eye of pitiful day / and with thy bloody and invisible hand (3.2.52 54). Similarly to the first passage, Macbeth is saying the actions of killing Banquo are so violent that it cannot be visible by the light of day. Related to both passages, Macbeth does not want anyone to

He made the following arrangements for the concert: Paul contracted with Alice, who owned Cowboy Auditorium, for the concert venue. Paul chose Cowboy Auditorium because it seats 20,000 people. The contract, which was signed by Paul and Alice, required any changes to be in writing and signed by both parties. The rental price was $400,000. Paul sold out Cowboy Auditorium for the concert. A month later, and three days before the concert, Alice informed Paul that the roof of Cowboy Auditorium had collapsed during a rainstorm and that it could not be repaired before Paul s concert date. Alice quickly offered to rent Paul another auditorium that

The other elements that co occur with Head are the premodifier and postmodifier. The logical analysis expresses the recursive aspect of the modifying relation, providing a univariate structure. However, at the same time, many people have realized the value of the metal truss bridge as a historic artifact and a beautiful structure that is so much more intricate and complex than the simple concrete or steel bridges built today. Currently in most cases, government response to this growing public demand has been minimal and is mostly limited to initiating surveys of historic bridges to determine which bridges are historic. With some exceptions, government does very little with their historic bridges beyond these assessments however. In Ontario, these bridges have and continue to face demolition, however in many cases Ontario repairs bridges as part of a routine maintenance, but rarely for the reasons of saving history. In the United States, where replacement is the preferred option over repair when dealing with deficient structures, these bridges face demolition even more frequently. A number of factors make pin connected truss bridges historically significant as a whole. Truss bridges represent a period in the development of bridge technology. Significant experimentation and developments occurred during this period as bridge design moved toward a general standardization. During the 1860s and 1870s, bridge companies received numerous patents in the United States, testifying to this period of development. The classic pin connected Pratt truss bridge is what essentially came out of this
  • 8. The Threepenny Opera Essays What keeps mankind alive? Answer the question with reference to the actions of characters in The Threepenny Opera. In The Threepenny Opera, Bertolt Brecht, through the writing of the song Second Threepenny Finale What Keeps Mankind Alive in Scene Six, gives us the idea that mankind is kept alive by bestial acts (page 55, line number 18). In my opinion, although the idea to associate human beings with beasts, or more specifically, human behaviour with bestial acts looks peculiar, some characters, in their pursuit of desires and wants, do reflect an inhuman nature, which makes them beast like . In the play, we can see the constant, uncontrollable longing of food (page 55 number 9) of some characters. In my opinion,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my view, Mac is really, as what Polly and Lucy comment, a man who is not worth [so] [many] commitments (page 68). Besides sexual urges, money is another piece of juicy meat that attracts the most number of characters and leads them to inhuman deeds. An obvious example is Jenny. Upon the bribe of Mrs. Peachum, she decides to betray Mac in spite of the companionship between them. Worse, she is not impressed by Mac s belief that a woman with name beginning with a P (instead of a J as suggested by Jenny) will betray her, and goes on turning him in to Constable Smith. Finally, when Mr. Peachum refuses to give her the reward for turning Mac in, Jenny gets furious, blames the Peachums for black[ing] [Mac s] boots (page 58) and tells them how bad she feels for having [sold] the last sportsman left in London (page 58). In my view, Jenny is such a hypocrite and money fanatic that the example about her is itself, the best manifestation of what is suggested in the song as however much you twist, whatever lies you tell.... Morals follow on (page 55, lines 8 ~ 9). As money represents one s living, it does not surprise readers greatly by telling them that government officers such as Tiger Brown and Constable Smith have committed bribery. In fact, what is really surprising to us is Brown s yielding to the

Physician Assisted Suicides Imagine suffering day to day with consistent hospital visits, numerous medications, and unbearable pain for the next six months of your life, then being told that dying peacefully is not a granted privilege. Then imagine not being able to die in a controlled and dignified process like you prefer to. How would that affect the way you feel about deathand the rest of your life you have left? Millions of people suffering from terminal illnesses consider physician assisted suicide, but their wishes are rejected due to state and government beliefs. In fact, only five states out of fifty have a law permitting citizens the right to participate in physician assisted suicide. In Ireland, alcohol is available more now than it ever was before. A person can buy alcohol day or night. Since the smoking ban took effect in 2004, more and more people have been drinking at home. Two individuals had been sickened as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning, and they had to be taken to the Superior hospital, where they had been listed as stable. During the initial monitoring, they found low levels of carbon monoxide. It is the kind of thing that happens once in a lifetime, and usually it is not anything big. But those who do have these experiences pertain that belief in the supernatural, and it is these documented experiences that have brought about the study of parapsychology. Is there something to these claims or is it due to mental illusions? Parapsychology is a highly debated branch of science because of the existence of phenomena that cannot be explained, the main argument being in the existence of physics and whether there is something beyond or not. s Parapsychology is the study of supernatural phenomena or more specifically, psychicphenomena. Even the learned expressed interest in these, however, the wide acceptance of these occurrences may have been due to the insufficient education of the general public. After the Enlightenment, which occurred in the 18th century, the existence of deities and magic was more widely contested and doubted, leading to the discrediting of these phenomena as science. One of the first scientists to attempt a scientific study of psychic phenomena was Franz Anton Mesmer in the 1700 s; he experimented with and attempted to patent the mesmerism technique, more commonly known as hypnotism. Even though his method did not achieve scientific recognition, shifting religious beliefs allowed for the widespread Spiritualism movement, which allowed for the use of mediums and the like (Psychicscience.org). Modern parapsychology came about in the 1920 s with the invention of statistical tools and the efforts of a researcher by the name of J.B. Rhine. Rhine had three aims through his experiments: to provide data on parapsychological phenomena rather than to attempt to prove their existence, to achieve scientific recognition and to prove that psychic ability was not limited to certain people and was a part of human psyche all along just waiting to be discovered. Though he was not necessarily successful in his goals, Rhine did change his field in that now psychic study is not limited to individuals with psychic talent, rather a

Dating back to the 1900 s as much as 90% of Blacks lived in southern states. Douglas Massey stated in his Residential Segregation essay that these southern states contained only 25% of whites, most Blacks lived in rural counties that yielded a large portion of segregated and racially isolated minorities. Shifting ahead to today, racially segregated neighborhoods share a common theme, many Blacks cluster into neighborhoods that are in and around urban areas that seem to be close to the city center. Massey explains that the concentration of space that Black peopleoccupy in these areas is increasingly becoming confined into smaller, compacted areas. I feel Massey is explaining that Blacks living in these areas are essentially getting pushed out in an effort to re build or cleanup the areas. Robert Bullard explained in the section Zoning and Land Use, which Blacks are frequently the victims of unregulated growth, and land use decisions are powered by dominant society regardless of the circumstances on these neighborhoods. These neighborhoods that are occupied by minorities are commonly known as Ghetto s. In order to get a better understanding of this term, I researched it online. The definition of ghetto on Dictionary.com is a section of a city, especially a thickly populated slum area, inhabited predominantly by members of an ethnic or

  • 15. Existential Behavior Is An Individual Sartre addresses how this means one relates to one s self by stating existential behavior is acting with choice every time, you seek to determine the original choice you make. Existential behavior is decoding the attitude of the person which makes an individual not a unity. Existential behavior is the original choice operating in the face of the world and being a choice of position in the world is total like the complex; it is prior to logic like complex (Sartre, pg. 71). Sartre gets his point across to us by explaining to us how empirical and extensional behavior differ and how they are similar. The principle of this psychoanalysis is that man is a totality not a collection. Consequently he expresses himself as a whole in even the most insignificant and his most superficial behavior (Sartre, pg.68). It is much easier to see existential behavior the empirical behavior due to the fact that you can see other people exercising their free will. Empirical behavior is the idea of unconsciousness that deals with how you act more objectively, scientific and fact based. This is what makes an individual a unity and is also the principle of existential psychoanalysis. Empirical psychoanalysis seeks to determine the complex, the very name of which indicates the polyvalence of all the meaning which are referred back to (Sartre, pg.71). Because empirical psychoanalysis is your initial state, it is argued that the revelations that are made can be fixed conceptually if needed. It is

Out of all the different archetypes, the three I ve chosen are John Yossarian, Albert Tappman, and Milo Minderbinder, although, not in that order. The first character being analyzed is Yossarian, the unwilling hero of this book. Although the book labels Yossarianas the main character, he constantly tries to coward out of going to battle. The second character that will be described is Milo Minderbinder, the archetypical business person of Catch 22.He runs the camp mess hall and controls what everyone in the camp is buying, selling, and eating. Yossarian complains to Doc Daneeka about Colonel Cathcart s dictum regarding the mission count during every visit to the medical tent. Cathcart s opinion about Yossarian also dawns upon the other men who start to wonder about the man with that name and who he actually is. One of the main points within the story is when the soldiers question Yossarian during the death of Lt. Mudd, whom the men continuously call the dead man in Yossarian s tent (Heller 166). A character that changes Yossarian completely about war is Snowden. After Snowden s death, Yossarian is given a medal of honor for fighting through that battle, but unlike the other men, Yossarian shows up in a disorderly fashion. • 19. Difference Between A Leader And A Boss The hardest element while being an entrepreneur is leading a team. Take special notice of what was said there; lead and team. As one goes about life trying to climb the ladder within a workplace, he/she will often lose sight of what is genuinely important: attitude and servitude. One will become so caught up in the success that he/she will become a bossfigure; except when this happens, the person is not successful. This alters one s future and relationships, not only in the workplace but also in the home life, in essence affecting the community as a whole. Leaders and bosses run communities, but there is a definite difference between the two styles. In today s society, a boss must work to become a great leader. So the question is, what is the difference between a leader and a boss? The answer is easy; it s the way they think. If one searched Leader vs. Boss on the internet, the person would probably find the quote Bosses push while leaders pull by Dave Ramsey. What that means is that a boss will tell a team what to do while a leader will do it with them. This is because he/she will participate in the workload and take the fall for them if something goes wrong. Andy Stanley s tells in his podcast that someone should always try to never over complicate situations. He says, One must aspire to be the dumbest person in the room . This will push the person to surround himself/herself with smarter people; this will help the person grow because one can never be finished.

Survival Analysis for Evaluation of Mortality in Selected Body Weight Lines of Japanese quails Using Cox Model Abstract: Quail rising has become an important poultry business in the world. The objective of this study was to carry out survival analysis to evaluate and quantify risk factors involved in mortality of Japanese quail. Survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards model were used to describe mortality in Japanese quail with hatch weight and post hatch body weight as a risk factors. Weight is a variable change with time, so it is considered time dependent covariate. Survival function distribution and Kaplain Meier curve showed that mortality was higher in the line selected for high compared to low and control line. Log rank test used for testing equality of survival distributions for the different levels of selected lines (Log Rank value = 9.898) resulted P value = 0.007** which is a highly significant. Mortality declined when post hatch body weight increased. Body weight at hatch did not significantly affect mortality. However, post hatch body weight affects mortality significantly with P value (0.011) and hazard ratio (1.009). Any factor that influences growth after hatching may likely have a direct impact on mortality. Deficiency of water, feed, warmth, and potential negative social interaction are factors that could affect mortality immediately after hatch. Through survival analysis, the present study has revealed that factors affecting post hatch BW

To understand what a pricing paradox is one must have a clear understanding of what a paradox is. A paradox is a perception that many may classify as being contradictory or absurd. If a statement is false it true, and if a statement is true it has to in turn be false. For an example; No one frequents that restaurant because it is always busy. This sentence is a paradox because if no one frequent the said restaurant how can it always be busy? The pricing paradox belief is when you lower the price, more people will buy your service or product. However this is not all that is needed for a new entrepreneur price point to be successful. Positioning is key when one is deciding prices. Branding and perceived value is very important. When someone price their product or service at a higher price customers perceive that product or service value is higher. Having a more expensive price shows a product s quality and exclusiveness. If a price is too low customers perceive the product or service as being one that is cheap and of poor quality. Fearing another global depression, large banks and organisations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) embarked upon structural adjustment programs (SAPs) in these heavily indebted countries with the aim of restructuring their traditional economies seen in the global North as symptoms of backwardness (Moser, 1994). The ability to qualify for monetary aid from the global North was conditional on the adoption of a range of policies (Craig and Porter, 2003:60) set out by these organisations believed to be necessary for debt sustainability; central to which was the theory of neoliberalism . The first main condition was the devaluing of the local currency, intended to encourage exports and limit imports (Williams, 1994), with the second policy agreement being the reduction in the size of the government bureaucracy. This was a 114.55 percent error to the lab. The large error could have lead to many different things. One of the things that the error could have been caused was miss calculating the mass. While measuring the sodium hydrogen carbonate, the mass of the evaporating dish mass, 46.50g, had altered when it was zeroed and put the 3.00g of the sodium hydrogen carbonate. Then it was massed again together and it was 49.57g. Another possible way that the mass was altered the way it was, it that all the water wasn t evaporated. There was also a little splatter outside the dish. That helped lessening the mass that was already too big. Finally an important error that happened was not letting the evaporating dish cool after it was heated. Those are some ways that the lab error could

Analysis Of Homer s Warm Glow When analyzing this passage it seems to be that she is struggling how to deal with and confront the situation of her husband being over bearing and too much to handle. As if he is so clingy she can t do anything herself, giving her no pause, one step behind her, breathing down her neck. It is almost as if he is smothering her and unintentionally annoying her. Without communication between them she goes to her dad asking for help, saying she would give up her beauty to be left alone, Transform me and destroy that beauty by which I have too well pleased. From here her father comes into play to protect her like any other father would and hardens her into a tree reassuring her protection and only being distinguishable is her warm glow. The rest of this passage is Ovid reaching out trying to help Sappho. Wondering what is wrong and saying that it will all be better with his help. This relates to the passage above because it is about Sappho feeling as if he is being too nosey just like how he is constantly asking her what is wrong. In both passages he just wants to help but is going about it the wrong way. The theme of this passage for her is protection. Running to her dad asking for help, having a hardening of bark cover her completely molding her with a more tough exterior. The theme of protection is shown in many aspects of this course when it involves family and protecting the ones they love. Whether the threat or circumstance is severe or not, protection is the

One prominent fact, I faced was my lack of preparation for college level work. My education prepared me for tradesmen level work, not higher education. The basic skills of effective study habits, note taking abilities, and test taking strategies were not developed by the time I completed high school. Yet, I held a deep belief that I could do anything if given the opportunity. That was one skill set that my parents helped foster within me as a young person. Consequently, I was prepared to face and solve the forthcoming challenges. During my time at Purdue University, I developed a learning system to aid me to be successful. This system has continually adapted and strengthened throughout my career. The premise that everyone has the capacity to learn is valid once we employ a couple of conditions. This line comes from the book Lord of The Flies a book about a group of boys stranded trying to create a colony, and all of the troubles they face. A number of the troubles they actually face come from their own doing, arising because of the way that they learned to behave very masculinely. The boys are all trying to appear dominant and repress their emotions so they don t look weak or feminine to the other boys, much like how men in today s culture try to do. So, what would happen if boys were brought up in a more supportive and less harsh culture? Would men appear more communicative and open to their emotions, or would they stay the same? Boys and men growing and maturing in today s society should not be pressured into suppressing emotions and killing all semi feminine parts about themselves. When men and boys are trying to show no emotion and appear dominant to their peers, nobody wins. Men are taught this from a young age, to grow up and be a Man . Which in society s terms means to have anger issues, treat women as an inferior, and to be over controlling of everything. That kind of toxic masculinity is a reason for many troubles in a multitude of peoples lives. Little boys and Little girls start off emotionally equal...both boys and girls are like a stereotypical girl. Society influences the way our boys behave. All though some boys may still behave this way; as a result of them just having a personality
  • 38. Experiment Synthesis Essay The project s hypothesis is: if the type of biomass is vegetable peels then the amount of biogas produced will increase. This project tests the amount of biogas produced when cow manure is combined with different types of biomass (in this case, mashed bananas and vegetable peelings). It is an interesting project because studying how biogas is produced, it is possible to see how this chemical reaction happens. Biogas can be used for cooking, heating, and after going through a transformation process it could be even used as fuel. If studied more, biogas could have more functions. When choosing this experiment the hopes were to find out what types of things easily found can increase the production of biogas, and how could it be produced. Cows... The predicted results were for the vegetable peelings + cow manure balloon would turn out to be bigger at the end of the experiment , but the bananas combined with the manure produced more gas than the expected. If repeated, the changes made would be the place where the experiment happened and the type of bottles used. The bottles used had drawings all over its surface, which made it hard to look at what was going on, and placed (at the porch) where it had the risk of being dropped because of the wind/any other natural causes or even because of people that could walk by and drop it if not paying attention. The data does not support the hypothesis, since the products that produced more biogas were not the vegetable peelings and the cow manure. The average difference between the vegetable peelings (approximately 0.6 cm) and the mashed bananas (approximately 2.5 cm) were 1.9 cm

Jorge Luis Borges in The Circular Ruins describes a man painstakingly working to create a Dream Man just to find out that he is one himself. He, a manifestation of someone else s efforts has the autonomy to inspire, or rather be inspired, to create a new dream man. In Miles Davis s Kind of Blue, the work being created is spontaneous and without exception, the first complete performance of each was a take (Evans). Improvisation that can never allow for the same performance again is caught on five tracks frozen in time. Yet, it too can inspire others to make new works of art, just as the dream man was able ... This can be seen in the eventual creation of the dreamed man, despite the sorcerer s struggles and changes of course. He simply wanted to dream [a man] completely, in painstaking detail, and impose him upon reality (Borges 97) and he did just that. The sorcerer had come to fill his entire soul (Borges 97) and he spent all of his energy upon completing his task. Borges argues that regardless of what stands in the way, one can achieve what they put their mind to. In the process, there will be self discovery and it may or may not be all that they wanted, but discovery will be made. The sorcerer is flooded with relief, with humiliation, [and] with terror (Borges 100) when he realizes that he is also a dreamed man. He makes a discovery about himself that is both threatening to his self image, but also relieving because of his deeper self knowledge. The early medieval Puranas helped establish a religious mainstream among the pre literate tribal societies undergoing acculturation. The tenets of Brahmanic Hinduism and of the Dharmashastras underwent a radical transformation at the hands of the Purana composers, resulting in the rise of a mainstream Hinduism that overshadowed all earlier traditions.[14] Though Islam came to India in the early 7th century with the advent of Arab traders and the conquest of Sindh, it started to become a major religion during the later Muslim conquest in the Indian subcontinent.[12] During this period Buddhism declined rapidly and many Hindus converted to Islam. Numerous Muslim rulers such as Aurangzeb destroyed Hindu temples and persecuted non Muslims; however some, such as Akbar, were more tolerant. Hinduism underwent profound changes, in large part due to the influence of the prominent teachers Ramanuja, Madhva, and Chaitanya.[12] Followers of the Bhakti movement moved away from the abstract concept of Brahman, which the philosopher Adi Shankara consolidated a few centuries before, with emotional, passionate devotion towards the more accessible avatars, especially Krishna and Rama.[15] The Swaminarayan sect s Akshardham Temple in Delhi, according the Guinness World Records is the World s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple Indology as an academic

A Very Brief Look at the Crusades On the 27th of November in the year 1095, Pope Urban II issued a decree to a council of the Church at Clermont in the French Auvergne saying Whoever for devotion alone, not to gain honour or money, goes to jerusalem to liberate the Church of God can substitute the journey for all penance (Tyerman 27). As the Pope declared a first crusadeagainst the Muslims, he used forgiveness from sins as a false incentive to get knights to join in his fight. In his letter of instruction, Urban says that a barbaric fury has deplorably afflicted an laid waste the churches of God in the regions of the Orient, referring to the turkish muslims that had destroyed many of the churches in asian minor (Krey 42 43). The Turks would invade the churches and desecrate and overthrow the alters, (Munro 5 8). The Seljuk Turks invaded the lands of the christians, torturing and killing the Christians in ways that were despicable. For example, they would cut the abdomen and tie the entrails to a stake, then make them walk until all organs were out of the body (Munro 5 8). These Muslims took a tract of land from the Greek Empire that would have taken two months to walk across (Munro 5 8). Pope Urban II questioned everyone, asking Whose duty is to avenge this and recover that land, if not yours? in his speech at Clermont, declaring a jihad, or holy war against the Muslim Turks (Munro 5 8). As Urban finished his speech to the Council at Clermont, all who were in attendance shouted Deus lo volt!

The role of the sockpuppet is still developing across the Internet, and it is important to recognize the historical significance of pseudonyms and anonymous speech. Additionally, it is critical to remember the unique, primarily autonomous nature of online communities, and the negative impact that mandated identification could have on free speech. The value of anonymity found in the use of a sockpuppet is profoundly connected to the establishment of the United States of America. Although John Hancock and several others signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution with their real names, pseudonyms forged the journey to the freedoms outlined in those documents. These early examples of sockpuppets disseminated publications which united colonizers to fight for independence. The question of anonymity was not as important as working together to fight persecution. The Silence Dogood letters, Common Sense, The Federalist Papers, and other writings exemplify an author s purpose for anonymity. This initial use of sockpuppets during the American Revolution carved a precedent for the importance of anonymity and pseudonymity in the United States, and, therefore, led to the First Amendment of the Constitution. As the world continues to struggle with the pressure to challenge authority anonymously, sockpuppets in online communities present a new playing
