The majority of people in this world live a life that could possibly be a product of an
illusion. An illusion could possibly ruin the lives of many people, by making the
people live a life full of lies and dishonesty. The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott
Fitzgerald, is a fictional, dramatic novel. In the novel, one of the main characters,
named Gatsby, is seen living a life that was a product of lies, and dishonesty. There
is no doubt that Gatsby s whole life, in addition to his death, was a product of an
illusion.
The beginning of Gatsby s illusion was when Gatsby was seventeen. At the age of
seventeen James Gatz, Gatsby s real name, witnessed an event that changed his
life. For Example, when Gatsby saw Dan Cody s yacht anchored over the most
dangerous place on the lake, James Gatz informed Cody that a wind might catch
him and break him up in half an hour. (Fitzgerald 105). The encounter that James
Gatz had with Cody was what started the illusion that Gatz was going to live for the

are selected for collections, the works of classical writers will be prioritized over

thing, there is much that can be and needs to be learned from classical poets.
However, it is often overlooked how much other, more unknown writers can
contribute to the canon of poetry, especially those influenced by different racial and
ethnic backgrounds. To demonstrate my point, in this essay I shall be discussing in
detail Langston Hughes and his piece Poem and why it should be included in the
Norton Anthology of Poetry. I will contrast and compare it with Christina Rossetti s
Remember, and back up my arguments with selected quotes from Langston Hughes

was excited because it gave me the opportunity to step of my comfort zone; in
addition, I was excited to be able to get out into the community and practice some

The wind instrument I will be researching in this experiment will be the pipe organ,
commonly used in cathedrals and churches. Pipe organs produce sound by pushing
pressurized air through a set of flue pipes.
Flue pipes usually have a circular cross section and are mostly made of wood or
metal. One pipe can only produce one pitch, so to produce a range of pitches an
organ will have multiple sets of pipes called stops. Organs can have as little as 12

Discussion
After looking at the results, it is easy to see that as pipe got shorter, the fundamental
frequency increases. A 0.340m length pipe gave a frequency of 236Hz, while a
0.100m length pipe gave a frequency of 714Hz.
Conclusion
The results shown above prove the proposed theory to be correct.
If I were to do this experiment in the future I would use multiple pipes of different
lengths rather than using a piston to alter the length. I think this would give more
accurate results. I would also consider using pipes of different materials to see if it
has any effect on the results.
