Comparison Essay Topics For College
Writing an essay on the topic of "Comparison Essay Topics For College" can be a challenging
task that demands careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. The difficulty arises from the
need to identify suitable subjects for comparison, conduct thorough research on each, and
articulate meaningful insights that contribute to a well-rounded essay.
Firstly, selecting appropriate topics requires a deep understanding of the subject matter. The
choices must be relevant to the college level, engaging for the readers, and offer ample
opportunities for insightful comparisons. This involves extensive brainstorming and research to
ensure that the selected topics align with academic standards and provide enough material for a
comprehensive analysis.
Once the topics are chosen, the challenge lies in conducting thorough research. This involves
delving into academic literature, journals, and credible sources to gather relevant information
and data on each topic. The comparison should be based on solid evidence, and the writer must
navigate through a sea of information to extract the most pertinent details for an effective
analysis.
Additionally, crafting a coherent and structured essay that seamlessly compares the chosen topics
is no small feat. The writer must carefully organize their thoughts, present a clear introduction,
provide a nuanced analysis in the body paragraphs, and conclude with a strong and impactful
summary. The essay should not only highlight the similarities and differences but also offer
valuable insights that contribute to the reader's understanding.
Moreover, maintaining an objective tone throughout the essay can be challenging, as personal
biases may unintentionally influence the analysis. Striking the right balance between objectivity
and engagement is crucial to ensure the essay resonates with the intended audience.
In conclusion, writing a comparison essay on college-level topics demands a combination of
analytical skills, research prowess, and effective writing. It is a task that requires time, dedication,
and attention to detail. However, for those who find themselves overwhelmed or pressed for
time, there are alternatives. Similar essays and a variety of academic writing services can be

De Doctrina Christian Wisdom Vs. St. Augustine
Wisdom Versus Eloquence
St. Augustine of Hippo was a rhetorician whom taught in Rome, Milan, and Carthage.
After being baptized as a Christian he trained in classical Ciceronian and Platonic
methods of rhetoric leading him to become an extremely skilled practitioner of
oratory and aimed to teach others through a spiritual truth. St. Augustine is the author
of De Doctrina Christiana which includes a divided structure amongst four books.
Book Four explores the relation between Christian eloquence and worldly wisdom.
St. Augustine argues that wisdom is more important than eloquence. He stresses that
if one is unable to be both eloquent and wise, then to be sure to speak wisely opposed
to speaking eloquently. He states, though wisdom ... Show more content on

Augustine prefers one to speak wisely versus speaking eloquently, he does not shun
the idea of eloquence. Eloquence is of high value and as a rhetorician one should
have the ability to speak fluent and persuasive words. He believes eloquence can
bring power and beauty found in the sacred writings in which God can mold our
characters when spoken. This is why in Book Four, chapter four, St. Augustine
expresses that eloquence can be used to rouse the audience opposed to instruct them.
This being said, eloquence can rouse emotions of the careless or ignorant to bring
harmony to the truths of Holy Scripture. Since eloquence is considered an ornament
of speech, one who speaks with little eloquence may be seen as rude or
The Discovery of the First Bog Body
A bog body is classified as a human corpse that over a long course of time has been
naturally mummified in a peat bog. A peat bog is a swamp that collects peat, which
is dead plant material, often moss. In the peat bog when a body is mummified they
are often known as bog people. These bodies are crucial to our understanding of the
past for what they reveal.
Since the discovery of the first bog body known as Amcotts Moor Woman who was
discovered in 1747 in England, bog bodies have been a main source of what is
considered vital information for restructuring our past. They have allowed humans to
explore the past and our heritage and have helped them to acquire a further
understanding of how we, as a human race, have developed. A great example of the
knowledge that bog bodies have provided us is Tollund Man. Tollund Man who was
found in Denmark is one of the most famous examples of bog bodies, he has helped
us to extend the small snapshots we have of the past. Bog bodies as a collective are
also revealing information about the individual bodies themselves and the lifestyles
they led. This primary evidence aids our modern understanding of our historical past.
Bog Bodies allow us to delve into the ancient lifestyles that the individuals led, this
includes their diet, their looks, their clothing, their beliefs and their customs. Tollund
Man revealed all this information and more when scientists began to reconstruct his
life. Tollund Man was found with a leather belt and a

Lies In Prison Analysis
But, myths are fiction, based on lies, and therefore, worthless. You can t seriously
believe in fairy tales!
Why not? I can. In fact, I do.
But, this is preposterous. How can you seriously believe a lie?
Oh, Jack, myths are not lies! In fact, they are the very opposite of lies! Myths portray
the essential truth, the primary reality of life itself!
Go on.
You see, we have been duped into using the word myth as being synonymous with a
lie because we have been duped into accepting the first real lie of materialism.
And what is that?
That is the hideous claim that there is no supernatural order to the universe. The
materialists have imprisoned us in a world of mere matter, of physical facts, devoid
of metaphysical truth. Well, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Truth. Truth. What on earth is this truth that you are talking about?
Ah. Quid est veritas? What is truth? I m glad to see you ve entered into the spirit of
the myth, Jack. You ve just cast yourself into the role of Pilate.
Pilate? Oh, I see. You re able to believe in the lesser myths because you ve already
accepted the big one. Once you accept the big myth, the lie of Christ, it s easy to
accept the smaller ones. All right, Tollers. I ll play the role of Pilate. I ll wash my
hands of the whole nonsense.
Well, Jack, you may be able to wash your hands, but your mind is still muddled.
You re not thinking clearly at all, old chap. You re acting as if myths are mere
arbitrary inventions of fiction, as if we pull them out of thin air, but what you don
t understand, is that we make things by the law in which we are made. We tell
stories because God is a storyteller. In fact, he s the Storyteller. We tell our stories

The Effect Of The Printing Press On The Church
The new invention came out recently and was invented by a man, Johann
Gutenberg. He called his invention the printing press; a device that applies
pressure to an inked surface resting on a print medium, so that it transfers the ink.
This new technology rapidly impacted the society by transforming Europe into a
place where all ideas could be heard. Since the books were cheaper, easier to
produce than hand copied books this meant that even low class could afford books
to access a broad range of knowledge. Now, people could increase their knowledge,
where in the past many people were uneducated. This increased the development of
new ideas. The printing pressalso printed the first complete version of the bible, this
affected the church because
The Use Of A Pneumatic Compression Device On The
Incidence...
Death from deep vein thrombosis developed in a healthcare setting can potentially be
prevented or reduced. Prophylactic measures backed by evidence based practice need
to be taken to help these incidents. Awareness must be raised with nursing staff,
medical doctors and other healthcare professions. Many different modalities can help
prevent the development of deep vein thrombosis; this paper will concentrate a
mechanical method. This research proposal examines whether the use of a pneumatic
compression device reduces the incidence of developing deep veinthrombosis
compared to no intervention during the period of hospitalization. The research design
being utilized is a true experimental study. Participants will be placed into either the
experimental group that will receive the intervention of the pneumatic compression
device. The other control group will not receive any intervention. Possible
implications of this study could be a change in protocol regarding pneumatic
compression device practice. The study postulates that a pneumatic compression
device will reduce the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis in the hospitalized patient.
Prophylactic Use of a Pneumatic Compression Device Pulmonary embolism resulting
from deep vein thrombosis is the most common preventable cause of hospital death
(Maynard, 2015). Consequently, the Surgeon General has called to action to prevent
deep vein thrombosis. Deep vein thrombosis in the healthcare setting can be reduced

The Interdependence Of The Health System
Health system is defined as all activities whose primary purpose is to promote,
restore, and maintain health (WHO, 2000). All activities in the system can be
assumed as an organization of components and their interconnections that work
together for a purpose, which is concerned with people s health. In other words, a
system has many parts as a set of interrelated components to achieve a common goal
(Shi Singh, 2014). The interdependence of the healthsystem can be regarded as the
functions and roles played by these components (The World Bank, 2007). Describing
the components, interdependence, and purpose, Roemer (1991) defined a health
system as the combination of resources, organization, financing and management that
culminate in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A strong belief in capitalism has led to health care being viewed as an economic
good or service, not as a public resource. In other words, health is viewed as a
privilege, not as a right. This has led to the fee for service being the principal model
of payment, which has uncontrolled utilization, uncontrolled prices and payments.
Capitalism has also led to the belief that each individual and business particularly in
private sectors try to manipulate financial incentives for their own benefits without
considering the effect on the system (Shi Singh, 2014).
Values and beliefs do not only influence in shaping the entire health system, but they
also influence the other system within the systems framework such as system
resources especially human resources (health service professionals) and system
processes especially the way of healthcare delivered to people. For instance, health
service professionals cultural and value backgrounds may affect the way they
perform health care services. Part of their values as professionals is shaped not only
by their academic experiences, but also by their cultures and beliefs. Since cultural
and social factors between patients and health service professionals are not always the
same, it is important to take into
Tension Between Dreams And Realities In The Great Gatsby
While reading The Great Gatsby, I have noticed a constant shift between dreams and
realities. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck popped into my head when I noticed
this motif. Lennie Small continually dreams about living on a farm with George,
rabbits, and other animals. Although, the reality is that he is working at a factory
with little pay and respect. Everyone in The Great Gatsbyhas a dream. Nick s dream
is to live in a judge free and accepting society. Gatsby s dream is to meet Daisy and
spark up what they used to have. Daisy accepts her reality; she is comfortable with
her life because she is wealthy since she married Tom. She accepts it, but that does
not mean she is content with her surroundings. Daisy is ann accpetable wife, but
Tom dreams of a better woman, he seeks for something different; hence why he has
an affair with Myrtle Wilson. He was born into a lavish life; hence, financially he is
comfortable. Myrtle s dream is to be with a further successful and wealthy man. The
fantasy life of Wilson consists of moving to a different location with Myrtle and
starting a family in a nicer environment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Daisy obviously admires Gatsby, she would never leave Tom because
he provides her a safe lifestyle and she would also be frightened to leave him
because he is strong and has the capability of abusing her or going even further than
that. Wilson and Myrtle both die, so their dreams definitely don t come true. Also,
even if they both stayed alive, Myrtle is always searching for something better,
therefore she might have moved on from Wilson, crushing his
The Fact Of Blackness Frantz Fanon Analysis
I was struck by a strong emotional resonance while I was reading The Fact of
Blackness by Frantz Fanon. As long as the black man is among his own, he will
have no occasion, except in minor internal conflicts, to experience his being through
others, Frantz Fanon writes, In America, Negroes are segregated, whipped in the
streets where he describes how his social location was greatly affected by his racial
class and how he was identified as supposed inferior group to the mainstream society.
I strongly identify myself with Frantz Fanon. As being an Asian immigrant in
America, my race and gender class significantly shaped my social location. I have
been living in the U.S. for 4 years and I m still encountering some obstacles that are

Before I Came To The Rca And To London, I Worked As A
Textile
Before I came to the RCA and to London, I worked as a textile designer specialising
in the design of men s ties in Seoul, South Korea. My business was relatively small
and I enjoyed making bespoke textiles for my customers. Over time, I got to know
my customers well, and tried to base my designs on this personal knowledge. I
wanted the ties to be more than just mere physical objects; instead I wanted to imbue
them with an emotional attachment that reflected the relationship between me and
my customers and my knowledge of their lives and personalities. I began talking to
my customers and noticed that unconsciously my designs were becoming more
dialogical2, a graphical representation of the conversations and stories we shared.

The new research raises the question of ethical silk, made without the destruction of
the moth within the cocoon, and the ethics of employment practices within the silk
manufacturing industry today.
The majority of mass production generates pollution, which causes climate change.
In an era of fast fashion, mass produced textile waste has continued to grow4.
According to the report Valuing our Clothes , extending the average life of clothes
by only three months of active use would lead to a five to ten per cent reduction in
each of the carbon, water and waste footprints; around 350,000 tonnes of used
clothing ends up in landfill in the UK every year5.
Waste is not just a UK problem. Dongdaemoon market is the biggest fashion and
textiles market in South Korea. Many young designers work there but follow fashion
trends rather than creating their own unique designs. About 20 tonnes of fabric waste
is generated per day. Seoul city authorities estimate that it collects about 5,000 tonnes
of waste resources, such as fabric and banners, per year from the
Dongdaemoon market.6

I had heard from adults that this was a revolutionary war, a liberation of the people
from corrupt government. But what kind of liberation movement shoots innocent

rebellions start, the people end up getting hurt. I m not saying that you shouldn t

just so paradoxical. People often rebel for better conditions, treatment, etc., but before

Product Bundling (Case Study)

The group is presenting on the topic of product development and product bundling
are significant factors influencing market demand in telecommunication.
Product development involved modification of an existing product or its presentation,
or formulation of an entirely new product that satisfies a newly defined customer
wants or market niche. There are two parallel paths involved in the product
development process, one involves the idea generation, product design and detail
engineering; the other involves market research and marketing analysis. Companies

The customers need to compare between the 3 big companies to cater for their own
budget and requirements. Usually for the phones product bundling, the phone itself
will be charged half the price of current market price and the customer will have to
sign minimum 24 months contract with certain amount of price. However, this is not
included the charges for sms and calling out. Therefore, usually this product bundling
for phones is quite sneaky in terms of their marketing because in the end, the monthly
price that customer pay will be equal or more with the phone market price. This is
resulting of their terms and condition, that binds the customer to pay for 24 months
and this not included charges incur if we are using the services.
However, with this emergence of product bundling, the shift for demand in
communication has increased drastically. This maybe because it provides customer
of terms that they can pay in monthly installment and not need to provide a large
sum of cash to purchase the phone. This attracts new, young customers that did not
have large sum of savings to purchase the phone in their market price. The question
occurs is How does the company cater to demand? As in, how do they know that this
phone will be marketable or saleable? .
In the presentation, explanation been given is that the demand comes from customer
wanted the items due to trends and exposure from social media. However, to focus

Long Division shows throughout three time periods that while the African American
race progresses, it never arrives at full equality. In each time period 1964, 1985, and

Business Plan for an Aviation Company
1. Company s profile
JetStream Aero Services (JAS) is a newly set up aerospace company dedicated to
providing small aircraft modification, assembly and maintenance services in South
East Asia. JAS will have its first maintenance plant at Seletar Airport (Singapore)
and aimed to start operations by 2010. Singapore is chosen due to its strategic
location and it is a major hub in aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO)
in Asia Pacific.
As JAS is relatively a new company, the management aims to enter the South East
Asia market by focusing on small business aircrafts in the first few years of
operations. Other areas would be looked into further once JAS has established its
brand name and services.
JAS is also proud to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teamwork * Teamwork helps the company work in a more efficient manner and
reducing any chances of miscommunications between different departments *
Monthly gatherings shall be organized by the management to foster greater
relationship and cohesiveness of the entire company
2. Company s products and services
Seletar Airport is chosen as the main location for JAS main headquarters and
maintenance plant. The total land space available is roughly two hectares in size
and would be sufficient to house a decent aircraft hangar and office space. Within the
airport itself, an existing runway (03/21) with a distance of 1,592 meters long and 46
meters wide would be available to carry out test flights conveniently.
Though JAS primary provides MRO services such as maintenance and repair for a
wide range of small business aircrafts, its main focus shall be the manufacturing,
assembling and sale of the Diamond DA42 twin star aircraft. Sales target are set at
three of this business jet per month from the start of JAS operations.
JAS new single engine trainer aircraft, JetStream Flyer would begin its design
phase concurrently from the start of operations and set to be in operations and
delivered by year 2011. Its target sales potential would be at least of five aircrafts per
month from year 2013 onwards.
To further enhance JAS services to customers, the in house engineers would provide
aircraft maintenance advice and workshops for customers.
The Serial Peripheral Interphase
The Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a synchronous bi directional (full duplex)
serial data protocol used by microcontrollers to enable communication between one
or more peripheral devices that are all of short distances to one another.
Furthermore, it can also be used for communication between two microcontrollers;
with particular interest between Arduino boards and Multiwii flight controllers. In
general, an SPI data link consists of one master; typically a microcontroller which
controls one or more peripheral devices known as slaves. Both the master and the
slaves share three common lines which include; MISO (Master In Slave Out)
which is responsible for transferring data from the slave to the master; MOSI
(Master Out Slave In) which is responsible for transferring data from the master to
the slaves; and SCK (Serial Clock) which is created by the master and is
responsible for synchronising the transmission of data between master and slave
in respect clock pulses. There is also SS (Slave Select) line that is specific to a pin
on each slave device and in which the master can use to enable and disable specific
slave devices. In the case a slave device s SS pin is low, communication is enabled
with the master. However in the case it is high, communication is disabled with the
master. This allows multiple devices using SPI to share common MISO, MOSI, and
CLK lines. Full duplex data transmission occurs during each clock cycle generated by
the master in which the master
Examples Of Paradoxes In Catch 22
In Catch 22, Heller makes light of World War II by adding humor in which
characters are forced to deal with illogical, paradoxical situations that make their life
often times harder
Kuzel 7 than it already is in the Air Force. These paradoxes are seen throughout the
novel, usually accompanied by a superior officer using a rule known as Catch 22.
Catch 22 is different from other laws however, as there seem to be no set limits
and is often described as a vague, convenient solution for superior officers to use
when their orders make no sense. This law often led to crueler, corrupt leaders in the
story s plotline. The first time the main character of the book is introduced to this
mysterious law is with Doc Daneeka in the hospital ward when he ... Show more

Milo s whole business seemed to contradict itself, because this concept of buying
and selling to himself worked and made him much wealth, even though it makes
no sense to the reader. Heller is embodying the Catch 22 ideology into Milo, along
with symbolizing him as corruption. Milo embodies the idea of the Catch 22 law
through his business, where he buys new products and sells them to himself in a
different location to change the value of the product. The importance of Milo lies
in his success. He often tells people that they get a share of the profit. Everyone
gets a share of the profit according to him. This allows him to get away with terrible
actions, such as bomb his own base, and get away with it with the two colonels.
This is also the reason many of the men continue to support him even though they
know he is corrupt. Later in the book, he appeals to the colonels and pleases them
to better his own situation. He talks to the colonel and uses many paradoxes and
logic to convince the colonel to not make him have to fly any more missions.
Heller uses Milo to show corruption throughout the book, like how he is exempt
from flying more missions because he is a monetary asset to them and the other
men. The only logical way to explain how Milo s business works is the theory of
Catch 22. Heller wants Catch 22 to not be interpreted as a law, but rather as a theory
that explains paradoxes and situations that don t make sense. He suggests this

Philosopher King Pericles Research Paper
A philosopher king is a leader and is defined by one s virtues. The morals one holds
up is what separates them from a good philosopher king or not. Although Pericles
perseverance and sacrifice created a tyranny in Athens, Lycurgus sacrifice and
devotion transformed Sparta into a warrior state; therefore Lycurgus is a
philosopher king and Pericles is not. Pericles was hungry for power and with
perseverance and sacrifice he made the city fall to him. Pericles, finding himself
come short of his competitor in wealth and money... turned to the distribution of the
public moneys. (Page 208) Since he was so determined to win the people over, the
disadvantage of money did not stop him, which indicates that he would go to any

Consequences Of The Mfecane
Introduction
Question
What was responsible for The Mfecane?
This project will present research proving that there was a chain of events that
triggered and lead to The Mfecane. The Mfecane was a warfare tribes and
communities. The events leading to the 1815 1840 war are based on the Zulucentric
Theory, the Slave Theory and the climatic crisis that plagued Southern Africaat the
time. In contrast to this, this analysis will revel what lead up to The Mfecane and the
domino affect of the consequences that caused The Mfecane.
Summary of evidence
Source A is summary of the different types of slaves found during 1658 to 1806
when the British ended slave trade. There were company slaves that cut timber,
worked on the harbour on building and in gardens. Farm slaves that worked on
vineyards and pressed grapes for wine. There were also Town slaves that were owned

It was an event of major historical importance and brought about destruction upon life
and property. It led to a great redistribution of people and changed tradition, political
and social structures The Mfecane was based on many events but mainly caused by
the Zulu kingdom, the drought that plagued southern Africa at the time and the slave
disruptions.
Food shortages and a lack of resource were blamed on the population growth and
mainly on the climatic crisis. The decline of rain and the droughts caused disruptions
and suffering. People fought over grain , cattle and water. The growing competition
for limited resources led to tribe s becoming more centralized and created friction.
The mahltule drought caused the most suffering
Furthermore the slave theory stated by Juilan Cobbing argued that the outside
pressures and intrusions were disrupting the entire area. It led to tensions between the
different tribes when the process was carried out by the
People, Great Company, Crappy People
My favorite saying in business is great people, great company, crappy people... I ll
let you fill in the blanks. It starts with a vision, your vision and your desire to make
a difference. Wait, what difference? In your life or others? Entrepreneurs tend to
have an unrealistic view of their vision and think why doesn t everyone see what I
see? Why doesn t everyone do what I do? Then one day it becomes real, one person
can see it with you. Then another, then two more and pretty soon you have a business
full of employees that want to see it grow.
Then it happens, you hire crazy ! And crazy has two friends that you hire and soon
crazy is running the show. Why does this happen? Why do we let this happen?
Typically it s because the business lacks profit and we are too scared to get rid of
crazy, so we let them tell us what to do, how to do it and with whom we are going to
do it with.
The challenge is that no matter what our vision is the outside world is going to try
and destroy it. It is just human nature. We have to surround ourselves with people
that share our values and our vision. If not, your vision is distorted and soon your
dream becomes a nightmare. You struggle and make decisions based on what they
want not what your business design was meant to be.
Let me give you a simple example, we focus on helping hairdressers every day. If I
hire someone that wants us to serve beauty supplies, would it work? Of course it
wouldn t! So, no matter how good they are, I can t
Ethical Relativism And Moral Relativism
In this paper, I will argue against moral relativism as the correct way to judge
human morality. There are several issues with moral relativism, and I will focus on
why moral relativism s argument is false and also consider the implications of
accepting relativism. I will propose an alternative framework for making moral
judgments about right and wrong and consider relativist objections.
Philosophers often vary in their usage of moral relativism, so, for the purpose of this
paper, I will be considering moral relativism to be the belief that moral judgments
are right and wrong only relative to the framework of a community. It follows from
this that relativists also believe no moral standpoint can be proved to be objectively
superior to another.
Let us consider the argument that moral relativism proposes. Since a relativist
believes that moral absolutes do not exist, it follows that he must believe that all
moral claims are only preferences. For example, a relativist would say that the
claim murder is wrong is true only if and only if the speaker believes it is true. So,
if I say Killing is wrong , it is morally true if I actually believe what I say. It follows
from this that, according to relativism, moral disagreements are disagreements about
preferences (as opposed to facts). This is because, as mentioned, relativism believes
morality to be preferences, so disagreements of morality must be disagreements over
preferences. Since this claim follows from the main argument,

Earlier in the novel Jam goes into the Radley house and forgets his pants. He wants
to get his pants back but he fears the Radley property When I went back they were

negative connotation and internal fear Jem has about the Radley house. Like they
were expecting me. Illustrates the fact that Jem feels weary about the Radley house
but decides to go to the house anyways despite the internal fears he has about the
property. Similarly in the photo about the Montgomery Bus Boycott shows many
people asking others to Support our walk for freedom this illustration suggests that
the people participating in this boycott have gone through a lot of hardships in their

internal conflict of feeling less than and not being treated equally. The beauty about
this boycott is all the people participating feel like they are not being treated equal
but they still overcome these struggles and go to the boycott to fight regardless of
their internal fears of not being accepted. Both Jem from To Kill and Mockingbird

Battle Of Thermopylae Essay
Herodotus The Battle of Thermopylae
In the spring of 480 BC the Persian army from all parts of the vast Persian Empire
concentrated at Abydos, near the Hellespont, in order to attempt the second attack
against Greece. Preparations of this campaign, started by Darius, and continued after
his death in 486 BC, his son Xerxes, heir to the throne of the Persian Empire. These
preparations, except the concentration of land and naval forces, included a parallel
diplomatic and intelligence movements, with a view to breaking down the Greek
cities, and avoiding the creation of a Greek coalition, which could cause problems in
the attack of the Persian forces.
Main source for the Greco Persian wars is the Greek historian Herodotus.
Herodotus, known as the Father of History , was born in 484 BC in Halicarnassus,
Asia Minor, which at that time was under Persian occupation. He wrote the play
Histories around 440 430 BC, trying to discover the real causes of Greco Persian

Although Thermopylae constitutes a defeat of the Greeks, at least for the western
culture, they repeatedly receive praise for their participation in combat. It is clear
that the Greek strategy was to keep the Persians at Thermopylae and Artemisia
apparently did not want to hand over all Boeotia and Attica to the Persians. The
Greek position at Thermopylae, despite the small number of Greek troops, was
almost impregnable. While the Greeks managed to keep the Persians in Thermopylae
for even a short time, the Persians might have to retreat due to lack of food and
water. Thus, despite heavy losses, the destruction of a narrow Persian victory, tactics
and strategy. The successful retreat of the Greeks, despite the enhanced morale, not a

Liberalist Views On Liberalism And Liberalism
Conservatives are very supportive for individuals that are in the higher class,
while liberals support the lower class individuals in society. Conservatives and
Liberals have completely different views from one another. I personally favor
liberalist views due to the fact they favor equality within our society. While
conservatives feel as though within a society everyone should be responsible for
themselves they don t believe in aid to mankind. In our society we can achieve and
do so much more if everyone as a whole worked together and cared about the
individual next to them. The world that we live in today would but much stronger,
there would be less poverty and more equality in the working class. Due to the
different views between the conservatives and the liberalist, a world of equality
will never exist. I will distinctly go over the different beliefs between the
conservatives and the liberalist of which I agree with all of the liberalist beliefs.
Liberalist feels as though the government should do more to give everyone more
equal opportunity. They believe it is the duty of the government to protect our civil
liberties, and our human and civil rights. To sum it all up, the government is to make
sure that no one is suffering and if there is, then it is the government s job to solve
the issues within the society. Conservatives on the other hand believes in free market,
personal responsibility and that it s the government s job to ensure our freedom to
chase our own goals.
The Mass Murder Of Jews
The mass murder of millions of Jews was a horrendous experiment and something
only men filled with hatred could inflict on the innocent lives of that era. A
deportation train would arrive at a Natzi camp and unload all of the Jews that had
been collected and taken from their homes. The Jews would be unloaded and the
men were separated from the woman and children. A physician would glance at
each person to see determine their health status and whether they were worth
keeping alive. The ones deemed weak in the eyes of the Natzi s were taken to gas
chambers. In order to prevent panic, the victims were told they were simply taking a
shower to get rid of the lice. Each person would hand over their valuables and then

Bullying And Stereotypes
In yesterday s society, bullying was most common in boys, whether it be that the
boy is the bully or the victim. However, the percentage of girls that are victimized
or are bullying others is increasing daily. This is due to social media, behavior
patterns and newly defined gender roles society has taken on to a new level. The
definition of bullyingis changing as well, it is not simply to physically abuse a victim
but to harm them in a way. This includes physically and mentally whether it be
through someone s words or through online interactions. (Include Study) Even though
bullying has been dominated by boys, girls have always been part of the picture.

Symbolism In Raktakarabi
In Rabindranath Tagore s play, Raktakarabi (Red Oleanders, 1924), set in an
imaginary town called Yakshapuri ruled under capitalism, minorities are
dehumanized and exploited into becoming a source of gold digging machines by a
brutal King whose ever growing obsession with wealth had turned him despicable
until salvation became apparent in the hands of a woman named Nandini. Nandini is
the protagonist and the King is the antagonist of the play. Yakshapuri in Hindu
mythology is referred to as the abode of the god of its hoard of treasure. In the play,
the King symbolizes the oppressor of both humans and nature by fear and power and
Nandini symbolizes the nature that restores its equilibrium by shaking everything
into its righteous place by beauty, love and strong character. What s left in between
are the oppressed: the miners along with their families who are undoubtedly and
hopelessly stuck in a rollercoaster where their freedom is nowhere to be apparent.
Tagore shows his concern over the materialistic industry oriented mentality of men
and the lust of controlling the resources of the earth as well as the inhabitants by
exploiting, estranging and circumscribing the underdogs.

International Accounting Standards Board And The Us...
IFRS 15: Background Revenue itself is an essential metric that is used to gauge a
company s present, past, and future. The requirements for recognizing revenue
however are changing with the IFRS 15. The International Accounting Standards
Board and the US Financial Accounting boards issued a new standard on the
revenue recognition in a joint converged effort in both the IFRS and the US
GAAP. The core principle of the new Standard is for companies to recognize
revenue to depict the transfer of goods or services to customers in amounts that
reflect the consideration (that is, payment) to which the company expects to be
entitled in exchange for those goods or services. ( IFRS IASB And FASB Issue

the IFRS 15 was issued, revenue recognition requirements under the US GAAP and
the IFRS were different and required improvement. They conflicted with each other
and resulted in different accounting for transactions that were similar. IFRS s
previous revenue recognition standards were difficult to understand and apply as
well. There were inconsistencies and weaknesses in existing revenue requirements as
mentioned earlier. Issues that did arise because of these were hard to deal with as
well. Not only was the preparation of the financial statements more complex than it
needed to be, the US GAAP revenue recognition standards are also quite broad in
nature and different industries had different
Song Of Roland
The Norton Anthology, a book containing countless stories and tales of heroism,
holds a rather confusing final verse to one of its great stories, the Song of Roland.
This final line catches all those who read it, trying to understand its true meaning.
One must understand the final verse to fully understand the story. The confusion
surrounding the concluding line exists due to the ancient and unclear language
Turold wrote the story in. Through the seven translations he also changes the
wording in several diverse ways. Along with the confusing language and wording,
scholars have formed opinions about the meaning of the final line. Of the several
possible meanings of the last line of Song of Roland, each one affects the resolve and
meaning of the entire story in different ways through the confusing language, changes
in wording, and various scholars opinions on the text.
Due to the confusing ancient Anglo Norman language, the final line stating Ci falt la

meaning of the words geste and declinet and the syntax of que still stand unresolved.

Key Elements Of Political Democracy
A government by the people, for the people of the United States. The word traces
back to the Greek word demos meaning people and krater, meaning power . Political
democracy is one of the major elements of American freedom. Owning property was a
key element in the political movement and environment. Some states restricted the
voting rights of the poor who did own property. In 1850, the constitutional convention
changed the law. It stated that the personal independence necessary in the citizen now
rested, not in the ownership of property, but ownership of oneself.
In October 1844, proponents of the democratic reform, organized a peoples
convention, which drafted a new state constitution. It enabled all white adult men,
and eliminated blacks entirely. A new reform gave blacks the right to vote.
Thomas Dor, governor of Rhode Island was mainly responsible for blacks not
being able to vote, by a movement he pushed, which allowed only white males that
qualified could vote. President Tyler sent troops to Rhode Island where Governor
Dor was arrested and sent to prison for two years with charges of treason. This
prompted legislature to eliminate the law that only white property owners could
vote. In the early 1830 s Alex Tocqueville , a French historian and politician wrote

Analysing Invisible Man Essay
Analysing Invisible Man
After reading this book I wondered what it would be like to be blind then gain
sight, but realize you cannot see yourself because you are invisible. It seems like a
cruel joke that once you can see you realize that you still cannot see who you are.
Even though this seems like a very depressing event Ellison makes it seem like a
positive thing. While, at the end of the story, the narrator still does not know his
place in the world he seems to be glad that he is no longer blindfolded. He even
questions the reader s ability to see, Who knows but that, on some lower
frequencies, I speak for you? What Ellison does well is the evolution of the narrator s
blindness. The blindness motif seems to first show ... Show more content on

Now at this point the narrator is still blindfolded, and he seems to be moved by the
speech and still have some faith in Bledsoe. I mean, he obviously trusts him with
the letters. If he did not he would have opened them before he gave them to the
prospective employers. One of the first times the narrator removes a blindfold (I
say a blindfold because he wears many) is when he eats the yams in the street. Yes
this act gives him a sense of freedom, but it gives him an even greater realization. He
believes that he can judge a good yam by merely looking at it. You don t have to
convince me...I can look at it and see it s good. He is making a blind assumption at
this point, and on top of that he is doing the very thing that others do to him. He is
making a judgment on something based on its outward appearance. When he eats
the frostbitten yam he realizes that he cannot make a clear judgment on things
based on that appearance only. This can even be brought back to his original
assessment of Dr. Bledsoe. The removal of the blindfolds help in the discovery of
the narrator s own identity. However, when he joins the Brotherhood he is once
again blinded. This is shown during the speeches in chapter sixteen. He is afraid that
he will become someone else, and the spotlight then blinds him. The Brotherhood
hinders his search for who he is. He is trying to find his place in history, but he
believes that only through the Brotherhood, who places no value on the
Symbolism In Dr Jekyll And Hyde
Furthermore, symbolism plays a great role in the Stevenson s strange case. The
symbolism gives the illusion that Jekyll and Hyde were two completely different
entities or in other words the duality of life . Jekyll states in the short story With
every day, and from both sides of my intelligence, the moral and the intellectual, I
thus drew steadily nearer to that truth, by whose partial discovery I have been
doomed to such a dreadful shipwreck: that man is not truly one, but truly two
(Stevenson 52). Although, Stevenson s leads us to separate the two characters based
on their actions, however, it is not clear and neither are many of the symbolic devices
the author employs. It is justifiable that Stevenson allowed Jekyll s mind to run
rampant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Schizoaffective disorder, however, has not because it is
relatively new. Dr. Jekyll suffered many symptoms that could have linked him to
this disorder such as his delusions of being two people, mood swings, and
alcoholism. Throughout the story Dr.Jekyll shows signs of having a multiple
personality or what others would call the double brain. Dr. Jekyll strongly believes
that Hyde is his evil self personified which leads to the conclusion that he may have
been delusional if this situation was thought of logically. In addition to delusions,
Dr. Jekyll seems to have mood swings that may have been caused by
schizoaffective disorder. After Hyde had supposedly committed murder Dr. Jekyll
became more social with his former friends. According to the Stevenson, Now that
the evil influence had been withdrawn, a new life began for Dr.Jekyll. He came out
of his seclusion, renewed relations with his friends.... The narrator portrays Jekyll,
after Hyde disappears, as a social and outgoing man, but as the days pass after his
disappearance his mood changes again. Dr. Jekyll becomes an introvert and stops
allowing people to his home and become depressed. ... Having now been used for the
last two months to see his friends almost daily, he found this return of solitude to
weigh upon his spirits. (Stevenson 28). The mood changes were not just a
coincidence but a factor that comes along with the development of schizoaffective
Analysis Of The Populist Movement
Historians debated the description over the overwhelming mass movements. One
side described uprising as threatening and dangerous which led them to be cautious
of the populist movement. On the other hand, some believed that the uprising was a
peaceful resistance to injustice. As John D. Hicks wrote, the last phase of a long
and perhaps a losing struggle the struggle to save agricultural America from the
devouring jaws of industrial America (Brinkley, 452). The basis of Hicks s argument
is that farmers are realizing the harsh industrial growth having effect on their
agricultural life and so want to reform the ways of the government. The Populist
movement was a great rift towards the movement of political protest. Their first
program was
Better When We Came To America
Us, the English pilgrims, are a group that sets sail to take a journey because of our
religion. We had to leave England and go to America to practice our religion. In
England we had difficulties with religion. King Henry the 8th took away the Roman
Catholic Church and formed the Anglican Church. We are Separatists and are
mistreated for our beliefs. Therefore, we get very worried about our children s religion
.
However, anything was better than staying there. When we got to America, the
Virginia Company gave us grants. The pilgrims were able to get grants of land from
the Virginia Company (Discovering Our Past a History of the United States 65). We
could practice our religion freely without being mistreated. Now we can start our new
The Pros And Cons Of Plagiarism
In a world surrounded by phones, computers, and other technological devices,
information is always just a click away. School work has become more clicking
and typing, and less reading and writing. When kids get an assignment to read a
book and do a book report on it, laziness kicks in, and they go to the internet to look
up a summary. Then what they do is copy and paste other people s writings into their
paper. What a majority of kids do not know is that this is considered plagiarismand it
is illegal. Plagiarism is something that is very common in today s world and although
it is common and a great deal of people do it, it is still illegal and wrong
Plagiarism, defined by the Merriam Webster dictionary is to commit literary theft
or to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source
. What this means in simpler words is that plagiarism stealing someone else s
words or ideas and using them as if they were your own. It is considered plagiarism
even if you forget to put quotation marks around the information you are using.
While reading the article ВЁWhat is Plagiarism?ВЁ the reader learns that although
it may not seem like a big deal to copy what someone else said online or in a book, it
is actually breaking the U.S. law. For example, if a music composer wanted to write
a new piece of music they would research and spend time trying to think about what
their piece is going to consist of. If the composer were to take words from another
piece

The Problem Of Sex Addiction
Many people across the world are struggling with many different types of addictions.
Some people feel that sex is a major concern. In the article Your Addicted to What?
Challenging the Myth of Sex addiction , written by Marty Klein, he states that sex is
not an addiction. On the other had many other believe that it is. A multitude of people
would argue that sex is not an addictionbecause it is something that can be
controlled. We all have choices, and the choices are up to the individual to make and
that choice should be don t do it if you don t want to get addicted.
A prime example of a choice would be, alcohol. There are many people that are
addicted to alcohol, however, alcohol is a choice. With addictions, people don t
realize that it is all mind over matter. Some people feel that drinking will help take
the pain away. While others do it just for the high that it gives them. See it s a
choice. Could sex be put in the same category as alcohol? A multitude of people
state that sex is a very enjoyable sport; that it makes them feel loved, it makes
people feel comfort, and for many women, it makes them feel protected. Sex is
physical, but it is also mental. Sex has the power to make someone feel
emotionally attached to someone else. It has the power to change someone s
mood. Many married couples use sex as a form of unity, some feel that it is the best
after trying to reconcile after a fight or etc. However the big question is, is sex
addiction a real thing or is it

  • 1. Comparison Essay Topics For College Writing an essay on the topic of "Comparison Essay Topics For College" can be a challenging task that demands careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. The difficulty arises from the need to identify suitable subjects for comparison, conduct thorough research on each, and articulate meaningful insights that contribute to a well-rounded essay. After being baptized as a Christian he trained in classical Ciceronian and Platonic methods of rhetoric leading him to become an extremely skilled practitioner of oratory and aimed to teach others through a spiritual truth. St. Augustine is the author of De Doctrina Christiana which includes a divided structure amongst four books. Book Four explores the relation between Christian eloquence and worldly wisdom. Eloquence is of high value and as a rhetorician one should have the ability to speak fluent and persuasive words. He believes eloquence can bring power and beauty found in the sacred writings in which God can mold our characters when spoken. This is why in Book Four, chapter four, St. Augustine expresses that eloquence can be used to rouse the audience opposed to instruct them. This being said, eloquence can rouse emotions of the careless or ignorant to bring harmony to the truths of Holy Scripture. Since eloquence is considered an ornament of speech, one who speaks with little eloquence may be seen as rude or

In general, an SPI data link consists of one master; typically a microcontroller which controls one or more peripheral devices known as slaves. Both the master and the slaves share three common lines which include; MISO (Master In Slave Out) which is responsible for transferring data from the slave to the master; MOSI (Master Out Slave In) which is responsible for transferring data from the master to the slaves; and SCK (Serial Clock) which is created by the master and is responsible for synchronising the transmission of data between master and slave in respect clock pulses. There is also SS (Slave Select) line that is specific to a pin on each slave device and in which the master can use to enable and disable specific slave devices. In the case a slave device s SS pin is low, communication is enabled with the master. However in the case it is high, communication is disabled with the master. This allows multiple devices using SPI to share common MISO, MOSI, and CLK lines. Full duplex data transmission occurs during each clock cycle generated by the master in which the master

Examples Of Paradoxes In Catch 22 In Catch 22, Heller makes light of World War II by adding humor in which characters are forced to deal with illogical, paradoxical situations that make their life often times harder Kuzel 7 than it already is in the Air Force. These paradoxes are seen throughout the novel, usually accompanied by a superior officer using a rule known as Catch 22. Catch 22 is different from other laws however, as there seem to be no set limits and is often described as a vague, convenient solution for superior officers to use when their orders make no sense. Milo s whole business seemed to contradict itself, because this concept of buying and selling to himself worked and made him much wealth, even though it makes no sense to the reader. Heller is embodying the Catch 22 ideology into Milo, along with symbolizing him as corruption. Milo embodies the idea of the Catch 22 law through his business, where he buys new products and sells them to himself in a different location to change the value of the product. The importance of Milo lies in his success. He often tells people that they get a share of the profit. Everyone gets a share of the profit according to him. This allows him to get away with terrible actions, such as bomb his own base, and get away with it with the two colonels. This is also the reason many of the men continue to support him even though they know he is corrupt. Later in the book, he appeals to the colonels and pleases them to better his own situation. He talks to the colonel and uses many paradoxes and logic to convince the colonel to not make him have to fly any more missions. Heller uses Milo to show corruption throughout the book, like how he is exempt from flying more missions because he is a monetary asset to them and the other men. The only logical way to explain how Milo s business works is the theory of Catch 22. Heller wants Catch 22 to not be interpreted as a law, but rather as a theory that explains paradoxes and situations that don t make sense. He suggests this

It starts with a vision, your vision and your desire to make a difference. Wait, what difference? In your life or others? Entrepreneurs tend to have an unrealistic view of their vision and think why doesn t everyone see what I see? Why doesn t everyone do what I do? Then one day it becomes real, one person can see it with you. Then another, then two more and pretty soon you have a business full of employees that want to see it grow. Then it happens, you hire crazy ! And crazy has two friends that you hire and soon crazy is running the show. Why does this happen? Why do we let this happen? Typically it s because the business lacks profit and we are too scared to get rid of crazy, so we let them tell us what to do, how to do it and with whom we are going to do it with. The challenge is that no matter what our vision is the outside world is going to try and destroy it. It is just human nature. We have to surround ourselves with people that share our values and our vision. If not, your vision is distorted and soon your dream becomes a nightmare. You struggle and make decisions based on what they want not what your business design was meant to be. Let me give you a simple example, we focus on helping hairdressers every day. If I hire someone that wants us to serve beauty supplies, would it work? Of course it wouldn t! So, no matter how good they are, I can t
  • 29. Ethical Relativism And Moral Relativism In this paper, I will argue against moral relativism as the correct way to judge human morality. There are several issues with moral relativism, and I will focus on why moral relativism s argument is false and also consider the implications of accepting relativism. I will propose an alternative framework for making moral judgments about right and wrong and consider relativist objections. Philosophers often vary in their usage of moral relativism, so, for the purpose of this paper, I will be considering moral relativism to be the belief that moral judgments are right and wrong only relative to the framework of a community. It follows from this that relativists also believe no moral standpoint can be proved to be objectively superior to another. Let us consider the argument that moral relativism proposes. Since a relativist believes that moral absolutes do not exist, it follows that he must believe that all moral claims are only preferences. For example, a relativist would say that the claim murder is wrong is true only if and only if the speaker believes it is true. So, if I say Killing is wrong , it is morally true if I actually believe what I say. It follows from this that, according to relativism, moral disagreements are disagreements about preferences (as opposed to facts). This is because, as mentioned, relativism believes morality to be preferences, so disagreements of morality must be disagreements over preferences. Since this claim follows from the main argument,

Conservatives and Liberals have completely different views from one another. I personally favor liberalist views due to the fact they favor equality within our society. While conservatives feel as though within a society everyone should be responsible for themselves they don t believe in aid to mankind. In our society we can achieve and do so much more if everyone as a whole worked together and cared about the individual next to them. The world that we live in today would but much stronger, there would be less poverty and more equality in the working class. Due to the different views between the conservatives and the liberalist, a world of equality will never exist. I will distinctly go over the different beliefs between the conservatives and the liberalist of which I agree with all of the liberalist beliefs. Liberalist feels as though the government should do more to give everyone more equal opportunity. They believe it is the duty of the government to protect our civil liberties, and our human and civil rights. To sum it all up, the government is to make sure that no one is suffering and if there is, then it is the government s job to solve the issues within the society. Conservatives on the other hand believes in free market, personal responsibility and that it s the government s job to ensure our freedom to chase our own goals.

Political democracy is one of the major elements of American freedom. Owning property was a key element in the political movement and environment. Some states restricted the voting rights of the poor who did own property. In 1850, the constitutional convention changed the law. It stated that the personal independence necessary in the citizen now rested, not in the ownership of property, but ownership of oneself. In October 1844, proponents of the democratic reform, organized a peoples convention, which drafted a new state constitution. It enabled all white adult men, and eliminated blacks entirely. A new reform gave blacks the right to vote. Thomas Dor, governor of Rhode Island was mainly responsible for blacks not being able to vote, by a movement he pushed, which allowed only white males that qualified could vote. President Tyler sent troops to Rhode Island where Governor Dor was arrested and sent to prison for two years with charges of treason.
