Gm Food Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of "GM Food" presents a unique set of challenges. Firstly,
delving into the complex world of genetically modified organisms requires a solid understanding
of both biological concepts and the ethical considerations surrounding the topic. Researching the
latest developments in genetic engineering and their implications on food production demands a
considerable investment of time and effort.
Moreover, navigating the polarized views on GM food adds another layer of difficulty. The topic
is surrounded by debates, with proponents highlighting potential benefits like increased crop
yields and resistance to pests, while critics express concerns about environmental impact and
long-term health effects. Balancing these perspectives requires meticulous research and the
ability to present a nuanced argument that acknowledges the complexities of the issue.
Additionally, the evolving nature of biotechnology means that staying current with the latest
research findings and regulatory changes is imperative. This adds a dynamic element to the
essay, as positions and perspectives can shift over time.
The challenge extends to structuring the essay effectively, ensuring that the introduction sets the
stage for a comprehensive exploration of the topic, the body presents well-reasoned arguments,
and the conclusion ties everything together while leaving a lasting impression. Striking the right
balance between scientific information and engaging prose is crucial to keep the reader's interest
throughout the essay.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "GM Food" demands a combination of scientific literacy,
critical thinking skills, and the ability to navigate a landscape of conflicting opinions. It's a task
that requires dedication, careful research, and a commitment to presenting a well-rounded
perspective on a topic that continues to shape the future of agriculture.

Rape As A Weapon Of War
Being a part of a global community comes with many responsibilities and duties.
People of the global community have to be aware of the dangers that are present in
the lives of many people all over the globe. Human Rights issues are quite serious
and violations of these rights should not be taken lightly. In exploration of a global
human rights issue, the discovery of rape as a tool in war was a gross violation of
human rights as well as overwhelmingly a gender issue. Rape used as a tool of war
has devastated and destroyed people, communities, families, and traditions. When
discussing rape as weapon of war, there are two main modern day conflicts that can
not be overlooked. Rape as a weapon of war is brought into light by the wars of
Congo and Bosnia. These two conflicts brought the eyes of the world onto the
global issue of rape in war and more specifically how it is used as a tool of ethnocide
and genocide. The recent conflict in the Congo has been rooted in the 1994 Rwandan
Genocideand related violence in Burundi which saw hundreds of thousands of Hutus
flee both countries into eastern ZaГЇre. (First and Second) In the Rwandan genocide,
Hutu power groups (called the Interahamwe and the Impuzamugambi) led mass
killings of Tutsis and pro peace Hutus, murdering 800,000 people in approximately
100 days. (Congo) In response, the Tutsi led Rwandan Patriotic Front, or RPF,
overthrew the Rwandan Hutu government.
During and after the genocide, an estimated 2 million refugees,

Planning the Website
I believe I was able to include all of the components specified in the planning and
preparation stages of my website.
I created a structure diagram which is a conceptual modeling tool used to
document the different structures that make up a system, such as a database or an
application. It shows the hierarchy or structure of the different components or
modules of the system. I have added all the links of the websites I will be using.
However, due to my website plan being complex I added fewer links and made it less
complex, but it looks professional. The index of files and pages is a list showing
the folders and files I will use on my website. This made life a lot easier because I
was more organised. As well as, I could just copy the name of the file that I would
save it as. Also, this saves me time. However, it makes it more time consuming
saving it a particular way looking for the index of files and pages document.
Improvements I could have done made the titles shorter, which would have made me
save my time.
I also created an action plan. This is because then I would be aware when I should
complete a particular task. This will enable me to complete my task before my
deadline. As well as, if there are any personal circumstances and I am unable to
complete a task I can catch up or even be ahead before my estimated time when I
will complete the task. This means that I can improve my work if I made an
Similarities Between Hinduism And Hinduism
Similarities and Differences Between Buddhism and Hinduism
When comparing two different religions, it is easy to find many similarities and
differences. Buddhism and Hinduism are two religions that are very well known
throughout the world (awritersesteem). Some people even believe that since they
have multiple similarities and that they were both founded from the same region, that
they are just sects of the same religion, but they are different religions in many ways
(awritersesteem).
Hinduism is third on the list, behind the Christianity and Islamic religions, of the
most studied and practiced beliefs in the world (History.com Staff). Hinduism has
been around for many years which has allowed for a numerous number of sects to
form throughout the religion. This causes a range of beliefs throughout the religion,
just like any other religion. Some well known sects are Shaiva, which are followers
of Shiva; Vaishnava, followers of Vishnu; Shakta, followers of Devi; Smarta,
followers of Brahman (History.com Staff). Hindus do not just study one book or text,
like most religions, but they do have the main text which is called Vedas. The Vedas
are made up of The Rig Veda, The Samaveda, Yajurveda, Atharvaveda (History.com
Staff). Some of the other important texts Hindus study from are called Upanishads,
Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, and 18 Puranas (History.com Staff). There
are different hymns, stories, and rituals throughout these texts. Hindus also believe in

Rhetorical Analysis Of Matthew Shepard
On April 11th, 1999, a trial was conducted against the murderer of Matthew
Shepard. The main speaker was his father, Dennis Shepard, a 70 year old male who
is the father of two in the upper middle class of Wyoming. He went to the
University of Wyoming and is currently working as an Industry Safety Engineer.
However, he is also in a lot of grief and anger due to the murder of his 21 year old
son Matthew. This was a trial against Mr. McKinney and Mr. Henderson for beating
his son to death; where he wanted to prove that this was a hate crime and not just a
robbery gone bad (Shepard). Mr. Shepard is giving a testimony describing Matthew s
character and why no one deserves such unjust discrimination that Matthew had

Sexism In Visual Arts
I selected Penn State University specifically for their dual degree program in
women s studies. My interest is researching visual culture and imagery of Black
female artists expressed in diverse societies; in everyday life, in art education, and
from feminist perspectives. These areas reflect my general interest both as an artist,
educator, and researcher. I have first hand experiences of being marginalized based
one s raceand gender, and being stereotyped based on the imagery of black women in
the media.
I began drawing as a little girl and looked at artists like Norman Rockwell, Ernie
Barnes, and Georgia O Keefe as a source for inspiration, however, I wondered was
there any black female artists. It wasn t until I took an undergraduate ... Show more

narrative told I understood the need to pursue the question, is there a black
feminist art movement to support and protect black women artists? Troubled by
the answer I received from the interviewees, I realized I was not the only one
feeling alone. Guided by black feminist theorists Lorde (2014) otherness, Collins
Hill (2000) inequality and oppression, I wanted to give these women a platform to
share their stories. After realizing the token black female artists in mainstream art

consciousness raising theory (Reed, 2017) for these women to share their personal
experiences to public discussions and turn them into an analysis of the commonality
in inequality (Dill Zambrana, 2017). Grateful for my opportunities, I realize how
feminist scholarship allows me to create a feminist space to challenge the hegemonic
The Classical Theories Of Organizations And Management
To what extent do you agree with criticisms by Marxist Labour Process and
McDonaldization theorists (discuss either or both) of orthodox theories of
organizations and management? (Word count: 2097)
Organisations and management have seen considerable level of changes in the past
few decades, mainly in terms of theories, concepts, and so on. Although there have
been many classical theories in the business environment, some of which are still in
practice, a new wave of theories have emerged following industrialisation and
modernisation of organisations and processes. The classical theories of management,
and other traditional models were criticised or extended by modern theorists from a
different point of view. Although it is difficult to reach in a concrete judgment from a
single point of view, as to which theories are better for managing business, especially
since, each management models may have different implications and impacts on
different business types, this essay attempts to understand these differences by
critically examining the criticisms raised by the McDonaldization theorists and the
Labour Process theorists against the orthodox models of organisations and
management in the light of available literature and examples.
In order to understand the concept further, a brief note on each theories are
necessary. The term was first coined by George Ritzer to refer to the rationalisation
of work, life, and such. The concept argues that breaking down each task to the
Semiotic Analysis of True Detective
Semiotic Analysis of True Detective In 1951, the first television crime drama series,
Dragnet significantly influenced our American culture. According to the New Oxford
American Dictionary, the term dragnet is a symbol, for, a system of coordinated
measures used to apprehend criminals or suspects. Most crime drama series solve a
different case each episode. Although, in current pop culture crime dramas focus on
one particular crime, throughout an entire season. Similar, to the show Homeland,
the HBO crime drama True Detectiveadds a twist on the conventional series. The
show depicts a subject matter that has affected modern society as a whole. Southern
Louisiana policedetectives Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, in 2012, are asked to revisit
their solving of a ritualistic murder case from 1995. The murder of a former student
of the Light of the Way Christian Academy lays the foundation, for detective Cohle s
doubts about the true design of religion. The True Detective storyline portrays the
utilization of religion, education, and politics, by men in power who manipulate and
control young innocent children. Questioning the validity of religion within a crime
drama series is relative to modern society. The conspiracy within the Catholic Church
to suppress hundreds of child molestations committed, by Catholic priests is a
pertinent sign represented in True Detective . Southern Louisiana is located in the
heart of the American Bible belt, where religion is not a choice, but a
Analysis Of The Film Black Robe
In the 1991 film Black Robe, which is set during the 1630s Beaver War in North
America, the French make attempts to search for and continue to convert a Huron
Indian tribe to Christianity. To complete this mission, the founder of the French
settlement in Quebec, Samuel Champlain, sends a Jesuit priest, Father LaForgue, off
to find the Indian tribe, and a man named Daniel and a family of Indians, who are a
part of the Algonquintribe, accompany Father LaForgue on this journey. Some
historical events that are mentioned in American Colonies by Alan Taylor that are
dramatized by the film include the relationship between the Jesuits and the Indians
and the love story. While, to an extent, the relationship between the two parties had
many moments of accuracy, the film also made it seem like no matter what the
Jesuit priest always was only looking out for the Indian people in order to convert
them. The film ignores the side of the relationship where the French Jesuits primarily
colonize the Indians, which ultimately leads to the death of thousands of Indians.
Also, the love story between Daniel and Annuka who is the daughter of Chomina,
who is accompanying the French on their mission, was dramatized. Recognizing that
this love story s purpose is to entertain the viewer, the way the cultures collide is not
as accurate as it could be. Overall, however, the film does deal with these
dramatizations in a responsible and fairly accurate way. In the film, the French

The Burden Of St. Paul Essay
The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them
Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a
universal, monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death
and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his
mission to spread Christianity. He was raised as a jew, and ironically, during his
youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during this time, was
born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would
militantly persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed
to Christianity that he was given authority by the chief priest to destroy these
followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he would extend his persecution to
other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to Damascus that
would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying
Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind
became clear. He knew then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation
brought by faith through Jesus Christ. These renewed eyes of Paul were now
determined to seek out individuals that needed to hear about salvation through Jesus,
specifically, his people the Jews. The Christian Church of today consists of
approximately 38,000 Christian denominations spread out across the globe. Many of
which actively send missionaries to foreign countries. Would Paul, or even
Literary Analysis Of The Heart Of Darkness
The overall meaning of the paragraph, that connects to the overall meaning of the
novel, is that the average person has a deep resonance with the natives and their
savagery lying within our minds and hearts. Marlow has crumbles of this mentality
through his journey, when he comes into contact with the natives on various
occasions, and is able to distinguish an odd relationship between the denizen and the
citizen. In this particular instance, as Marlow travels to through the Congo River on a
steam boat, he is able to meet and interact with the African natives, both on and off
the steamboat. With the various interactions, he slowly finds himself learning about
the social interactions that the natives have and are capable of, and has his previous
mental notions and structures of the community shaken and reconstructed. Finally,
Marlow comes to conclusion; both the average city dweller and African native share a
link of ancestry, humanity, and are no internal difference between one another. The
only difference that can be found is based of societal expectations and thinking that
fools people into believing that the two are not mutual in any degree, which would be
the root of evil practices, such as dehumanization. Conrad has a keen eye for the
particular lengths and punctuations being used throughout the novel, and can be
clearly identified within the given paragraph. Through literary techniques such as
syntax Conrad is able to implore the audience to realize such a mindset, and
Chromium Plating Research Paper
Due to the industrial restrictions in place across some the main areas of the world
under health and safety regulations, finding an alternative plating process to the
current hexavalent chromium process has become a real necessity. Trivalent
chromium has proved to be a suitable replacement due to being less toxic, both health
wise and environmentally, whilst also demonstrating almost identical metalfinishes to
those of the hexavalent chromiumdeposits. However, the trivalent chromium chemical
process is not without its difficulties, such as the inertness of the Cr3+ ions to be
reduced to their metallic state, or the initial inferiority of the metal deposits physical
properties in comparison to the deposits attained from conventional techniques. In
order to overcome these issues multiple approaches have been investigated.
It has been found that the use of complexing agents in the trivalent chromium
electrolyte solution work to generate stable complexes with Cr3+ through ligand
exchange which are then easily reducible to metallic chromium. Not only does this
now allow chromium deposition to take place, but it also improves the current
efficiency of the electrodeposit. The process of co depositing chromium as an alloy
with other metals has shown to enhance the physical and chemical properties of the
metal as opposed to individual electrodepositions; an ability that is unattainable for
hexavalent chromium, giving an immediate advantage. In addition, the outcome of
Governor Isham Harris
Governor Isham Harris of Tennessee was pivotal in the foundation of the Army of
Tennessee. In early 1861 Harris moved Tennessee away from the Union, and
established the command structure for the Provisional Army of Tennessee. The
Provisional Army was very well organized, and became the foundation of the Army of
Tennessee. When it was transferred to Confederate command, officially July 31,
1861, it contained 24 regiments, 10 artillery batteries, an Engineer Corps,
Quartermaster and Ordnance departments and an Ordnance Bureau .
As Confederate authority was not established in the state until July, until then Harris
had the responsibilities of defense. In May, the state army was still in the process of
being organized and was in no condition for such defense. The state militia had been
abolished in 1857, and as late as January 1861, Harris reported that no military
organization existed in the state. Thus the Governor would have to build a state army

Southwest Airlines Flight From Baltimore Washington...
In order to visit my family in Rhode Island over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend,
I decided that the quickest travel option would be to take a Southwest Airlines
flight from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) to T.F. Green
Airport (PVD). Anticipating the high volume of people also trying to travel
during the holiday season, I decided to arrive at the airport couple of hours early to
ensure that I would be able to check my bags, go through TSA security, and have
enough time to go to the restroom before boarding for Southwest began. Between
the time of arrival at the airport and the time a plane leaves the gate for take off, I
noticed that within the airport, in order to eventually board their respective aircrafts,
travelers must navigate through multiple queues, which are line[s] of persons waiting
in turn to be served, according, to order of arrival (Mann, 3). In engaging in these
queues, passengers are participating in serially coordinated actions, in which multiple
peopleare attempting to do the same thing at the same time, such that some must wait
while others engage in the activity. After checking their luggage with their respective
airlines, travelers must go through the TSA Security Checkpoint in order to be
admitted onto the concourse. The process of moving through TSA could be
considered a compound (sequentially linked) queue, where a single larger action is
accomplished over multiple queues. Once passengers move through the first queue of
Chemical Reactions And Factors That Affect The Rate Of

Reactions occur everywhere, and they may take decades, such as fossils, or only
seconds, such as lighting a match to occur. Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of
chemical reactions and what factors affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017).
Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases, surface area of reacting
solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction
(Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of
activation energy, product management and reactant management (William, 2017).
This is accomplished by making changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature
of a reaction to alter the position of the equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017).
Accordingly, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was further identified that typically for every 10oC temperature rise, the reaction
rate would double (Del Mundo et al., 2016) (Clark, 2017).
Throughout the Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction, chemical equilibria are clearly
demonstrated through the delayed colour change of combining two colourless
solutions to form a dark blue solution. The overall chemical reaction for this is as
follows:
2IO 3(aq) + 5HSO 3(aq) + 2H (aq) в†’ I2 + 5HSO 4(aq) + H20(l)
Iodate ions + Bisulfite ions + hydronium ions в†’ Iodine + Bisulfate + water (Iodine
Clock, 2017)
The individual steps of the reaction are:
(1) IO3 (aq) + 3HSO3 (aq) в†’ I (aq) + 3SO4 (aq) + 3H+(aq)
Iodate + Bisulfite в†’ Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(2) IO3 (aq) + 5I (aq) + 6H+aq) в†’ 3I2(aq) + 3H2O(l)
Iodate + Iodide + Hydronium ions в†’ Iodine + Water
(3) I2(aq) + HSO3 (aq) + H2O(l) в†’ 2I (aq) +SO4 (aq) +3H+(aq)
Iodine + Bisulfite + Water в†’ Iodide + Sulfate + Hydronium ions
(4) I2(aq) + I (aq) + starch в†’ dark blue starch I3 complex
Iodine + Iodide + starch в†’ dark blue starch I3 complex
(Iodine Clock Reaction, 2015)
The first reaction is the rate determining step, and hence, determines the order of the
reaction. The equilibria is delayed in this reaction due to any of the iodine produced,
immediately reacting with any bisulfite still present, before then being converted into
colourless iodide (reaction 2). Therefore, to demonstrate this reaction, the

it wasn t bad just communicating with them when he saw them in the
neighborhood. But what made it look so guilty is steve talked with them about the

Iago as the Perfect Villain of Shakespeare s Othello Essay
Iago as the Perfect Villain of Othello
Iago, the villain in Shakespeare s Othello, is a round character of great depth and
many dimensions. Iago works towards an aim that is constantly changing and
becomes progressively more tragic. Yet, at times, honest Iago does actually seem
honest. This essay will explore the complex character of honest Iago.
One of the most interesting questions that crops up is concerning Iago s motives.
What are his reasons to kill every major Venetian in Cyprus? Shakespeareseemingly
sets the stage for Iago s actions, giving him two distinct reasons to avenge Othello.
The first is the fact that Othello promotes Cassio, an arithmetician to the rank of
lieutenant and passes over Iago who is but a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Shakespeare portrays Othello as the general without faults, perfect. Yet, he slowly
reveals the weaknesses of Othello s love for Desdemona. For this love he will
forsake anything. Iago is quick to pick on this and starts working towards destroying
Othello through his only shortcoming.
Iago uses a gamut of devious methods to achieve his means. His use of Roderigo is
a masterly move. From being a Venetian gentleman, Roderigo becomes Iago s gull.
In the very first scene he gets him to confront a sleepy Brabantio and give him the
news of his daughters escapades with the Moor.
At the end of the court scene in the first act, Iago and Roderigo are left alone with
the poor doting lover in great despair. Roderigo takes a decision to drown himself.
Iago easily convinces him out of it by pointing out Othello s shortcomings. Says he,
She must change for youth: when she is sated with his body,
she will find the errors of his choice.
This satisfies Roderigo and Iago s hate starts taking definite shape:
I hate the moor,
And it is thought abroad, that twixt my sheets
He s done my office.
This is of course, unlikely and serves only as a justification for his evil.
In Cyprus, Iago designs a brawl with Cassio and Roderigo by having the latter
insult the former while they are drunk. This, of course, results in Cassio s dismissal
by Othello but it far from satisfies Iago. He then in turn advises Cassio on how to
regain his

also speculated that the name derives from all the god status that was located
around the building or the resemblance of the dome to the heavens. Interior The
Pantheon could be the first building where the interior outshined the exterior. The

has a diameter of 43.2m and is an exact perfect sphere. There is a skylight on the
top of the dome that opens to the sky and is 8.8 m in diameter. The walls are 6m
thick. Later History The building went through many historic events. The Pantheon

Brand Items And The Purchaser Basic Leadership Process
INTRODUCTION In the modern society brands not only signify the product or
company but also have a strong relationship with perceived quality, consumers life
style, social class, taste etc. The motivation behind this study is to frame a more

Furthermore, this concentrate additionally tries to investigate the connection
between various brand items and the purchaser basic leadership process. This
study has been conducted through literature study as well as questionnaire
directed survey. Simple random sampling procedure has been used to determine
sampling frame and size and a convenience sample of sixty respondents of different
age groups, income and occupation have been considered for the survey. The
collected data were analysed to comply with the objectives and also to draw
conclusions. From the study it is discovered that when consumer purchases a car,
brand names do effect his/her choice. The study also reveals that branded cars have
a excessive place in consumer mind, when customers go for purchasing a car; they
prefer to purchase a familiar branded car. Customers would prefer not to attempt new
or obscure marked cars in light of the fact that they have very little data about the
slighter known brand. INDUSTRY PROFILEIndia is one of the most significant

Do s and Don ts of Pride and Prejudice
In 19th century England, manners played a big role. In her book Pride and Prejudice,
Jane Austen portrays many different aspects of English social manners in the 1800s,
and these facets of English etiquette, including traveling etiquette, social propriety,
and dancing, greatly affect the plot of the book.
One aspect of English social etiquette was the set of strict rules for how one was to
act to appear as a socially adept person and therefore a desirable match for marriage.
They were for the most part unspoken rules, but during the 19th century there began
to be a growing selection of etiquette books available, for instance, Dr. ... Show more

establish their reputations; Darcy gets a bad reputation as a proud and disagreeable
man, and Mr. Bingley gets a reputation as an amiable man who is fun to be around.
Mr. Bingley through dancing also got an opportunity to show Jane that he cared
about her; in the 1800s, if a gentleman asked to dance with a lady twice it usually
meant that said gentleman was interested in the lady. At the first ball, Mr. Bingley
danced with [Jane] twice... (Austen 279) and thereby showed his affection for her, an
affection that grows stronger throughout Pride and Prejudice.
Dancing also affects the plot of Pride and Prejudice. During the ball at Netherfield,
Darcy dances with Elizabeth, and two important things happen during this dance.
First, Darcy s affection for Elizabeth begins to flourish. As he is dancing with her,
they have a little argument. After the dance, Darcy begins to be angry at Elizabeth,
but ...in Darcy s breast there was a tolerable powerful feeling towards [Elizabeth],
which soon procured her pardon, and directed all his anger against another. Also,
during this dance Elizabeth s view of what happened between Mr. Darcy and Mr.
Wickham, that Mr. Darcy has shamelessly exploited Mr. Wickham, is established in
her own mind. Without dancing, the plot of Pride and

Rhetorical Analysis of a The New York Times Article Essay
The article titled The man with the snow job appears in the Opinion Pages, The New
York Times. Author, Gail Collins, opens her article with the question: Who is to
blame for this weather? which hooks readers attention and makes them curious about
what they are going to read. In her writing, Collins talks about the current snowstorm
in the United States and how it is used for everyone s advantage. She also points out
how government officials such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Al Gore, George W. Bush
,
and Barack Obamause the occasion of snowfall for their own purposes. The author
borrows images of global warmingeffects to discuss some controversial problems in
the society these days. She applies the following elements to establish the... Show

The expression is frequently applied to people who abuse their authority to avoid
criticism or to deflect guilt or mistake. Therefore, I understand that the man with the
snow job here implies a group of government official. The following metaphor is
made when she introduces the email sent from Rahm Emanuel who is in the race for
Chicago mayor. The author says that Rahm wasted no time in sending off a storm
related e mail, offering a few helpful tips on how to weather the weather. (Collins).
Rahm Emanuel is giving some snowstorm survival tips that every citizen already
knows. Is it difficult for Chicagoans to survive a snowstorm without Rahm s
leadership?
Another metaphor is made when she says: We are sick of bad weather and looking
for a dumping place for all our bad vibrations (Collins). In this case, bad weather
does not literally mean climate change. It implies the bad political and economical
situations that people have been undergoing recently such as pension problem,
political corruption, and global warming. A dumping place can be considered as a
specific person who we can blame to.
To support for the sarcastic tone, Collins additionally makes a sophisticated simile:
We would like to blame one specific person like the evil queen in the movie Red
Sonja who used a magic orb to destroy entire civilizations with terrible storms until
she was vanquished by Red Sonja and Arnold Schwarzenegger. (Collins). Arnold
Schwarzenegger, the 38th
How Did The British Raj Colonized India
The British Raj colonized India in an organized fashion while utilizing its luxury,
wealth and pleasure regardless of the fact that, that was only true in rare situations.
The majority of the time the British Raj confronted political confusion, revolts and
extreme racism towards both British and Indian people; these conflicts subdued with
the common stereotype that India was a realm of spice, wealth, and glory. Suggesting
the British Rajwas beneficial to the Indian subcontinent would be an indistinct
opposition. To learn why the British Raj was detrimental to the Indian subcontinent,
one must first learn what the British Raj is and its history. The period of dominion
of the British Raj lasted from 1858 to 1958. The British Raj separated India into the
notorious princely states , where certain royalties under the British Crown ruled.
Queen Victoria, crowned, in 1876, the Empress of India since the British East India
company transferred power to her. In an attempt to give a representative voice to all
Indians the Indian National Congress, established in 1885, which consisted of a
group of middle class scholars, some of which were British, became the voice of
Indian opinion to the British Government. This later became the precursor of the
Congress Party. In 1894 Gandhi drafted the petition fighting the indentured servant
system, six months later, Great Britain ceased the indentured servant program within
India. In 1920 Gandhi creates the idea of satyagraha which is a
The Epic Of Beowulf By Beowulf
People throughout the world practice a variety of religions. Some religions are
more popular than others such as Buddhism versus Jainism. Religions tend to
spread within a society and then die back down. However, there are still people
amongst us who believe or may even still practice archaic religions. Some religions
date back to 700 A.D such as Christianity and paganism. Over the course of hundreds
of years both religions have evolved. Throughout different works of literature, people
are able to understand the original aspects of these different religions. Due to the
construction of this Beowulf, students and professors are able to study and get a true
understanding of a pagans demeanor and how life evolves through their eyes.
Throughout the epic poem Beowulf, paganism is exemplified as this epic hero falls
victim to fate while embarking on his journey through life fighting monsters and
chasing after his fame.
To begin with, Beowulf was composed in Old English by an anonymous writer
between the sixth and seventh century, and it is known for portraying the emergence
of the Anglo Saxons and their way of life. Adams David Leeming, author of The
Anglo Saxons 449 1066 , stated that the island of Great Britain, secluded from the
European continent, seemed perfect for the birth of legends, poets, and the belief in
elves due to its rain drenched and almost always fogged weather. This type of
weather is ideal for such stories involving heroes and legends. This island has been
Great Reforms Essay
1. What were the zemstvos ? What were they responsible for? What was the
purpose of the last of the Great Reforms? Zemstvos were elected assemblies divided
into three groups: landowners, peasant communes, and townspeople. Although the
ability to tax was limited, they carried a great responsibility as they were in charge
of local services, health care, and education (to name a few things). The last of the
Great Reforms focused on military service, as the changes included all men to be
eligible for military service and not simply the peasant men. Although the
conscription term would be lessened for those with an educational background, while
those with no education would serve the maximum term of six to nine years

during that time and denied possible strides for political reform. These things
caused certain individuals to dislike the new czar. Unlike the previous reigns the
events that occurred were due to the actions of the masses, rather than the czar or
his advisers did, as the underground revolution started beginning again. Other
events that happened during Nicholas reign was a trampling that occurred during
his coronation that led to the death of over 1000 people. Additionally, Russia lost
two major wars: the Russo Japanese War, and World War I; both of these wars
resulted in terrible losses and deeply shook the country and the leadership of the

There were two different lines that defined the revolutionary movement of the
1890s: the Socialist Revolutionaries (SRs) and Marxism. The SRs were committed
to peasant revolution and acted with political assassinations. Marxism was a theory
from thinker Karl Marx. These revolutions began to spread in Russia after a famine

Russia. 7. Describe the type of Marxists at the beginning of the 20th century. Did they

Two worlds has a huge connection with the choreographers, Doris Humphrey, and

connection with music, therefore, music visualization is a way to see the music
through the dance, sometimes having the dances follow rhythmic patterns (pg.81).
Also, the choreographer, Isadora Duncan, created dances centered on the emotion

easier than it looks. You have to be skating as fast as you can on slippery ice on
thin blades, while you are wearing extra gear to protect you and holding a stick

trying to get the puck and getting around the goalie. This is the story of ice hockey.

Defense Mechanisms Have A Negative Effect On
Personality...
Hypothesis: Defense mechanisms have a negative effect on personality
development. My Initial Hypothesis In life, we encounter situations that we put
ourselves in and then need a way to not place the blame where it should be. Like,
failing a test and blaming the teacher when you know you didn t study. Or,
something happens to us that we aren t quite ready to accept. For example, not
getting a passing grade then ignoring it and not taking the proper steps like retaking
it. By behaving as if you didn t fail the class and not retaking it while you have time
can result in a possible additional semester of school so you could graduate. This
action represents defense mechanisms we may use to protect ourselves from. These

Of course, this can become unsafe because there could be some medical needs that
are not being met. Since defense mechanisms are unconscious, it is safe to assume
that they are a natural part of our development. In fact, denial is quite common in
preschoolers and as we develop as do our understanding of these defense
mechanisms so we replace the old ones with new mechanisms (Cramer, 1999). As
we advance the mechanisms we use become more complex like going from denial
to projection. Projection involved placing feelings about one situation on
someone or something also. This seems to be more complicated because they have
to know that we cannot express ourselves inappropriately to the initial issue and
find somewhere else where it may be more acceptable. Like, your parents making
you angry then, you being mean to your sibling even though it is not warranted.
While our ages increase and our defense mechanisms begin to adapt and the old
defenses aren t used as much as mention earlier. We now know that when the
childhood methods lie, denial and projection linger past their time psychopathology
can develop as time goes on (Cramer, 1999). Identification tends to come after
projection, which is after denial and it assists in helping to become more
independent and help to find who you are (Porerelli, Thomas, Hibbard, Cogan,
(1998). Separating yourself from your parents is a great part of life. Excepting and

Archery Hunting
Did you know that bow/archery hunting season was first started in 1934? Although
it came in as an actual sport in 1934, people way back in time used bows for
hunting, protection, and even as competition. Way back when there were still
civilizations people used bows to protect them from attacks. Bows also helped get
food by ambush instead of chasing the animals down. There were usually a arena
somewhere in the civilization, and that is where the people would shoot their bowa
to see who is the better shot. That is what the people used the bowand arrow for.

They are all very much used these days. Bowhunting is the use of a bow to hunt
for food such as deer, rabbits, bears, moose, elk, and much more animals that you
can hunt. Target archery is when archer s line up target at different distances and
shoot to see who is more accurate. In that case there are many people that compete
with each other. Some people only use target archery to help sight their bows in
for hunting purposes. Field archery is almost the same as target archery. People
shoot at targets and compete to see who gets closer to a bullseye. In indoor archery
archers also shoot at targets. They compete to see who is the most accurate. People
usually compete for fun or for bragging rights. Since the targets are indoors the first
archer to miss his target loses and his arrow might just break as well. Finally in
flight archery people shoot at targets that look like animals. They aim for vitals on
the targets, and work on accuracy from far away distances. That somes up on the

We have seen it already in many places. Also, we have already used it many times

Banners, hospital curtains. tabletop displays, metal bakeware, protective barriers, non

an aluminum Grommet. Now, you can understand how versatile this product is.
Why aluminum?: Well, we should highlight several properties here:
* Durability: When compared to steel, aluminum is durable and light weight. While it
is difficult to which is the best from aluminum and stainless steel, aluminum is
definitely better than ordinary steel. So, can be used for outdoor applications and for
where water and moisture are present.
* Ductility: Well, this benefit is enjoyed by the Grommet manufacturers. When
compared to steel, aluminum is more ductile, hence easy to roll, processed, and
stamped. In other words, aluminum makes the manufacturing process easy and
practical.
* Lightness: The high weight is the top downside of steel grommets. Aluminum, on
the other hand; is three times lighter than steel, making it suitable for applications
where weight reduction is necessary. So, installing 3 aluminum grommets adds the
same weight as adding one steel
The Prayer Of An Ecumenical Worship
An ecumenical worship strives to unify people of a specific church. On campus,
there is a group called Common Ground which offers a weekly ecumenical worship
on Sundays at 8pm in the Clock tower lounge. The service that I attended lasted for
an hour and included Communion. Also, two students read from the scriptures: John
20:19 to John 20:30 relating to An Empty Tomb and dealing with doubt. An activity
being included during the service surprised me. I knew at some churches there was
time for reflections and moments to speak with a neighbor, but the activity was
connected to Matthew 26:36 to Matthew 26:56. The symbolism of taking a cup and
helping to ease one s troubles was especially calming at this time of year can be

Some believe that the bread and wine are a literal representation of Christ s body.
Others partake of Communion as a way to recreate a version of the Last Supper. Not
to say that is a wrong way of interpreting the bible, but that the practice fails to
understand the historical critical perspective of what Communion is. The original
symbolism of Communion was meant to help unify the church. However, in today
s society, there are different versions of Communion that actually separate the
church into who is able or allowed to partake in the bread or the wine and who is
not. There are closed and open Communions which undermines the original intent
of a Communion by limiting who is allowed to take in the bread and the wine. That
is not to say that Communion has been corrupted everywhere, but the fact that
these terms exist exemplify that in some places, it has lost the original meaning.
At the service I attended the Communion was passed around and each person
served their neighbor after their turn. I was in the front row and would have been
the last one to receive Communion. However, I was never baptized and do not
believe in God. I didn t want to step on anybody s toes, so I asked my friend who
was next to me to bring it back to the front because I was nervous. She still offered it
to me when my turn for communion came along, and after I shook my head no, she
brought it back to the front.
One of the difficulties the sermon I attended dealt with

healthcare sector of India
India is a developing country and we all know that India is still in a health crisis.
Although, India has been awarded a Polio free status by an official certificate by the
World Health Organization (WHO), we still occupy 2nd position when it comes to
population and the 112th position in sex ratio out of 190 countries . With this data we
can assess the condition of healthcare in India. The healthcare system is very bad
in our country and for a developing country like India, we require that everyone, at
least the work force and the children who are the future of our country should be
healthy, because if we want India to reach at a stage of a developed country then
we need to make sure we have an overall development. One of my findings was a
survey conducted by Dr.C.Chandramouli who is the Registrar general and the
census commissioner of India. His survey was conducted in different states of
India but the information I have taken is from the state, Madhya Pradesh the heart
of India. The information was gathered from each and every district in Madhya
Pradesh in form of questioners and in form of the verbal information which had to
be gathered because there are still some villages in India who still don t know how
to read or write. The result which came in front was very
Ode To A Chestnut On The Ground Poem
The poem Ode to a Chestnut on the Ground by Pablo Neruda examines both the
insignificance and treasure held within self discovery and new beginnings in
adolescence through the use of figurative language and diction involving a chestnut
in nature. The speaker addresses their admiration to a fallen chestnut throughout the
poem (as implied through the term ode in the title), and the speaker uses the events of
the poem in addition to the chestnut s surroundings to symbolize adolescence and the
leap from childhood to adulthood; the chestnut itself acts as a symbol for a young
adult with a sense of purity yet determination due to lack of experience in the world.
The speaker begins the poem by emphasizing the perfection of the chestnut through
diction, stating that the chestnut was complete: / polished wood / glistening
mahogany / perfect ( Chesnut 3 6); this follows the description of its surroundings in
the tree as being bristling foliage ( Chestnut 1).... Show more content on

Optimism And Racism
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. This quote by Ralph
Waldo Emerson appears to be a charming, quaint sentiment, although a sentiment
which is seemingly not applicable to modern society. However, is it possible that
each individual could establish an optimisitc, sanguine attitude throught all the days
of their life? In retrospect, I sincerely believe that this is attainable, through a
conscious, caring attitude to our thoughts.
Genuinely unadulterated optimisim and joy is so recherere in modern society.
However, optimisim and an audcaious thrist for a jovial life is wildly infectious. The
significant question still stands. How do we obtain this unshakeable optimism
through the storms of life, through clossal challenges, through unfair critisim and
rejection?
When we see unabashedly optimisic indivudals who rejoice in life and modify the
way we look at this immense, vast, capacious world, we wonder how to procure what
they have acquired? We concede. We convince ourselves that they posess something

A commonly practiced technique includes observing an atrocious, unpreposessing
situation and detecting one outstanding, reedeming quality in the most horrendous

as it all depends upon the individual.
Optimisitic inviduals are typically empthatic and compassionate. They view
situations through the eyes of others, which allows them to realize the magnitude of
things they have to be thankful for. This motivates and fuels their splendid attitudes.
There are scads of ways optimists stay optimsitic and keep their loving, joyful

Ethics, Deontological, And Virtue
From the moment we are born, our parents make sure to teach us the right from
wrong. As we grow older we begin having our own thoughts and learning the ethical
and unethical things of life. In today s society, we are all expected to be more open
minded and respecting of others way of life and culture. That s what being a Global
Citizen is about. Through Global Ethicswe have learned so far, that we can all relate
to three important moral theories. These theories are known as Consequentialist
(Utilitarian), Deontological, and Virtue. Through this paper I will also be discussing
a case study found in chapter two, based on the Selling of Human BodyParts, and how
it s seen through the lenses of Cosmopolitanism and its four criterions, as... Show

In other words, a deontological person thinks more about themselves and their
duty. An example also given is class similar to the previous one. Is that if a
manager is told to fire an employee due to insufficient funds, the manager would
complete the task without even thinking about because of his/her duty to the
company. They don t really think about the consequences that this causes the
employees personal life. Lastly, we have Virtue. A virtues person attempts to
discern character traits (virtues and vices) that are or could be motivating the
people involved in a situation (Contrast between the three Ethical frameworks,
Moskwa,). In other words, a virtues person not only watches for themselves, but
they also watch out for others who need help who are within their same virtue. For
example, if a friend is going through a hard time, a virtues person would be there
for them and watch out for their best interest. Consequentialism, Deontological, and
Virtue all help shape our moral values. As we go along on the book we focus on
chapter two s case study based on the sale of body parts. Through the lenses of
cosmopolitanism, we see that a cosmopolitan may have different views when it
comes to the selling of body parts compared to non cosmopolitan. A non
cosmopolitan would agree with the selling of body
The Exodus
Exodus
IntroductionThe Greek word, exodus means departure. The Exodus is the Israelite
departure from Egypt under the leadership of Moses, and the subsequent journey
through the Sinai wilderness.[1]
The biblical Exodus account has been understood on a number of different levels.[2]
Historically, the Exodus represents the process of Israelite s slavery under a Egyptian
pharaoh, followed by their freedom flight from Egypt to the promised land, Canaan.
Theologically the Exodus implicates important themes: divine promise and
fulfillment of it, eternal covenant, human suffering and redemption. Paradigmatically,
the Exodus provides the powerful image of the archetype for all subsequent
redemption and liberation experiences, it has become ... Show more content on

Exodus 7:14 12:36 records ten plagues. However Ps. 78:43 51 and 105:27 36

Exodus 13:17 18:27 describes the scene the departure from Egypt and the journey to
Sinai. Moses led Israel from Succoth to Ehtam, then toward Pi haniroth, where they
camped along the shoreline opposite a site called Baal zephon.[21] The body of

climactic event of the Exodus took place here.

Reflection On The Environment
To be honest, I never have given the environment any thought and what my opinion
would be on the topics that I hear around me. Sure, I ve heard about environmental
issues on the 6 O Clock news, but never did I think about it for more than a few
seconds and what position I would take on the topic of the day. After even just a few
days of taking my environmental issues class, I realized that my opinion and position
on certain topics do matter and that every little thing we do has such an extreme
impact on something in nature somehow. One thing that I have definitely taken away
from the class so far on the food chainor the circle of life and how it ties into other
events occurring right now. It has been just a coincidence that during this period of
time while taking this environment class that the hurricanes in the southern states
and islands have occurred which have had a tremendous impact on our environment.
The last topic that I want to discuss is how this environmental class and the simple
effort of informing myself has changed my perspective of every animal s purpose on
this planet, and finding a new respect for these beautiful creatures that we share the
world with.
When you think of a food chain, you automatically know that humans are at the
top, which still holds true, however myself and probably many other people only
associate ourselves as the dominant species along with other animals such as
wolves, bears etc. being the primary consumers. In reality, theres so many more
levels on the food chain, making it a lot more complex system than it seems. You
may ask why this is important or why I am even talking about it, and it the simple
fact that I find myself guilty of being so selfish and not thinking about the bigger
scheme of things. By learning how other animals interact in the lower part of the
food chains gives you a new found respect for the food that you eat, along with a
newfound respect for the animals themselves. Us humans being the top predators, we
don t think about how polluting the areas around us, and causing the air to be toxic
affects these animals, even as little as bugs. However, those little bugs are what fuels
other animals higher up on the food chain and eventually supplies us
Disadvantages Of Cruises
The time when cruises were only for the rich are long gone and nowadays
everyone can afford to go on such a trip if they know when and where to look for
it. With cruises increasing in popularity in the travel industry, the offers are more
varied than never and there are many choices for those who want to get the best deal
for a cruise. And if they make use of the following tricks, they can increase their
chances of getting a great cruisedeal.
Go for the last minute deals
While in other cases, early booking can bring you many discounts, when it comes
to cruises, it s best to opt for the last minute offers. If you want to get the best deal,
look for cruises 60 to 90 days before the departure because that is the last call for

There are websites where you fill a form with the details of the cruise you are
looking for and then the ad will be posted to various travel agencies. An agent will
soon get back to you and offer you price quotes. However, you must know that most
agents charge a fee when they meet with you to discuss the details of the cruise. This
fee in nonrefundable if you don t book or you cancel the cruise, but you can use it for
another cruise.
Analyze the total costs
Finding a cruise that is very cheap but doesn t include the additional fees is not
actually a bargain, so pay attention to the details of the cruise. Even if the travel
package is affordable, having to pay for service fees or port charges is not
something you want. This is why you must analyze the package very well and ask
the person in charge if the additional fees are included in the sale price. Another
important aspect is the payment method required by each travel agencies. Some of
them mandate that you pay for the entire price of the cruise when you book it while
others don t refund your

How Is Atticus Finch Selfish
The quietest people are often the most powerful Society today is quick to stereotype
those with a quiet disposition as boring, hermits, misanthropes, inferior, self
conscious, serious, sensitive, shy, lack sociability, lack assertiveness and are
considered a second class personality trait. However, characters such as Atticus Finch
in To Kill A Mockingbird published by Harper Lee in 1960 and an influential
individual named J.K. Rowling prove these accusations wrongs. Without these quiet
contributors, our society would not be blessed with inventions such as the Law of

The French Health Care System
Introduction France, a member country of the Organization for Economic Co
operation and Development (OECD), has the total population around 63 million
and steady growth rate around 0.7% (OECD, 2013). France has great performance
in a number of measures of well being. For instance, according to the OECD
statistics (OECD, 2013), the average household net adjusted disposable income of
France is 28,310 USD per year, which is much more than the OECD average (23,
047 USD). Compared to the OECD average employment rate between 15 and 64
years age, which is 66%, French slightly lower (64%). However, the number is still
better than most of the OECD countries such as the USA (OECD, 2013). In terms
of health, life expectancy at birth in France is 82 years, which is higher than the
OECD average (80 years). Specifically, life expectancy for females is 86 years
while the figure for males is 79 (OECD, 2013). In 2000, the World Health
Organisation (WHO) generated the annual report of which the theme was the health
care system performance all over the world (WHO, 2000). This report specifically
analysed the performance of the healthcare systems of 191 countries and ranked
based on a lot of criteria. Surprisingly, the French health care system was ranked the
first place for the overall performance. Since then, the discussion and debate around
the French health care system has never ended. The favours would like to propagate

Australian Secondary Education
Inclusive Education in the Australian Secondary Schools
Secondary school education has been recognized as crucial educational experience
for children during their teenager years (Eubanks Eubanks, 2008). During the period
of adolescence, students are experiencing a wide range of changes associated with
their physical, social and psychological development. It is also regarded as an
important transition for individuals from the primary schooling to post school life
(Foreman, 2011). To support student to manage developmental changes and transition

Pearce and his fellows argue that one of big challenges facing students with special
needs is that there is inadequate support of funding for them as they transit from
primary education to secondary education. Thus, it seems that inclusion policies in
Australia have been implemented inconsistently. Moreover, the Australian Bureau of
Statistic (ABS) indicates an increasing number of building special schools (17% to
be exactly) compared to regular schools (3%) during the period from 1999 to 2013
(Boyle et al., 2015). The figure seems to reveal that it becomes a greater degree of
exclusion that placing students with special needs in the segregated schools. To
certain extent, the form of special schools as segregated placements has been
maintained currently contradicts the promotion of inclusive education which
advocating integrating students with disabilities into regular classroom and schools.
Apart from changeable and inconsistent policies of inclusive education, the
interpretation of the concept inclusion may affect the current direction of inclusive
practices. According to a report from the National Council on Intellectual Disability
(NCID) (Australia) submitted to the Office of the United Nations High
Commissioner for Human Rights, the old paradigm of exclusion hidden by the
inclusive practices and misinterpretation of inclusive principles promoted by the UN
convention have set up barriers to prevent the achievement of Australian inclusive

Virtual Phone Number Advantages And Disadvantages
A virtual phone number can be used like a regular number, but having a virtual
number is beneficial because it is not directly associated with any telephone line.
Therefore, virtual phone numbers work by forwarding incoming phone calls to
another phone or electronic device, such as a computer. This service is a great tool
for individuals who travel for work or have migrated from other countries as well as
companies who wish to do business in other countries, but are not yet equipped to
build a brick and mortar office overseas.
For example, if you wanted to do business in Egypt, you could use a virtual phone
number to route calls from Egyptian locals to your offices located in any city, such as
London, Los Angeles, or Toronto. It s an extremely low cost method for your
business to stay in contact with Egyptian consumers and stay competitive in the
Egyptian market.
If you ve decided to expand your business overseas to Egypt, Global Call
Forwarding offers virtual toll free numbers. This modern advancement in
telecommunications will give you a much larger advantage over business
competitors. There are several beneficial reasons to bring your company s products

  • 2. Rape As A Weapon Of War Being a part of a global community comes with many responsibilities and duties. People of the global community have to be aware of the dangers that are present in the lives of many people all over the globe. Human Rights issues are quite serious and violations of these rights should not be taken lightly. In exploration of a global human rights issue, the discovery of rape as a tool in war was a gross violation of human rights as well as overwhelmingly a gender issue. Rape used as a tool of war has devastated and destroyed people, communities, families, and traditions. When discussing rape as weapon of war, there are two main modern day conflicts that can not be overlooked. Rape as a weapon of war is brought into light by the wars of Congo and Bosnia. These two conflicts brought the eyes of the world onto the global issue of rape in war and more specifically how it is used as a tool of ethnocide and genocide. The recent conflict in the Congo has been rooted in the 1994 Rwandan Genocideand related violence in Burundi which saw hundreds of thousands of Hutus flee both countries into eastern ZaГЇre. (First and Second) In the Rwandan genocide, Hutu power groups (called the Interahamwe and the Impuzamugambi) led mass killings of Tutsis and pro peace Hutus, murdering 800,000 people in approximately 100 days. (Congo) In response, the Tutsi led Rwandan Patriotic Front, or RPF, overthrew the Rwandan Hutu government. During and after the genocide, an estimated 2 million refugees,

Unit 9 And 14 Analysis Performance Evaluation Unit 9 and 14 Analysis Performance Evaluation Planning the Website I believe I was able to include all of the components specified in the planning and preparation stages of my website. I created a structure diagram which is a conceptual modeling tool used to document the different structures that make up a system, such as a database or an application. It shows the hierarchy or structure of the different components or modules of the system. I have added all the links of the websites I will be using. However, due to my website plan being complex I added fewer links and made it less complex, but it looks professional. The index of files and pages is a list showing the folders and files I will use on my website. This made life a lot easier because I was more organised. As well as, I could just copy the name of the file that I would save it as. Also, this saves me time. However, it makes it more time consuming saving it a particular way looking for the index of files and pages document. Improvements I could have done made the titles shorter, which would have made me save my time. I also created an action plan. This is because then I would be aware when I should complete a particular task. This will enable me to complete my task before my deadline. As well as, if there are any personal circumstances and I am unable to complete a task I can catch up or even be ahead before my estimated time when I will complete the task. This means that I can improve my work if I made an

  • 5. Rhetorical Analysis Of Matthew Shepard On April 11th, 1999, a trial was conducted against the murderer of Matthew Shepard. The main speaker was his father, Dennis Shepard, a 70 year old male who is the father of two in the upper middle class of Wyoming. He went to the University of Wyoming and is currently working as an Industry Safety Engineer. However, he is also in a lot of grief and anger due to the murder of his 21 year old son Matthew. This was a trial against Mr. McKinney and Mr. Henderson for beating his son to death; where he wanted to prove that this was a hate crime and not just a robbery gone bad (Shepard). Mr. Shepard is giving a testimony describing Matthew s character and why no one deserves such unjust discrimination that Matthew had received. He speaks to the... • 6. Sexism In Visual Arts I selected Penn State University specifically for their dual degree program in women s studies. My interest is researching visual culture and imagery of Black female artists expressed in diverse societies; in everyday life, in art education, and from feminist perspectives. These areas reflect my general interest both as an artist, educator, and researcher. I have first hand experiences of being marginalized based one s raceand gender, and being stereotyped based on the imagery of black women in the media. I began drawing as a little girl and looked at artists like Norman Rockwell, Ernie Barnes, and Georgia O Keefe as a source for inspiration, however, I wondered was there any black female artists. It wasn t until I took an undergraduate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My first paper in women s studies applied critical race feminism theory of Berry (2014) and I interviewed five black female artists. Enthusiastic about having their narrative told I understood the need to pursue the question, is there a black feminist art movement to support and protect black women artists? Troubled by the answer I received from the interviewees, I realized I was not the only one feeling alone. Guided by black feminist theorists Lorde (2014) otherness, Collins Hill (2000) inequality and oppression, I wanted to give these women a platform to share their stories. After realizing the token black female artists in mainstream art world gave the illusion of equality, I began to enact a space of feminist consciousness raising theory (Reed, 2017) for these women to share their personal experiences to public discussions and turn them into an analysis of the commonality in inequality (Dill Zambrana, 2017). Grateful for my opportunities, I realize how feminist scholarship allows me to create a feminist space to challenge the hegemonic
  • 7. The Classical Theories Of Organizations And Management To what extent do you agree with criticisms by Marxist Labour Process and McDonaldization theorists (discuss either or both) of orthodox theories of organizations and management? (Word count: 2097) Organisations and management have seen considerable level of changes in the past few decades, mainly in terms of theories, concepts, and so on. Although there have been many classical theories in the business environment, some of which are still in practice, a new wave of theories have emerged following industrialisation and modernisation of organisations and processes. The classical theories of management, and other traditional models were criticised or extended by modern theorists from a different point of view. Although it is difficult to reach in a concrete judgment from a single point of view, as to which theories are better for managing business, especially since, each management models may have different implications and impacts on different business types, this essay attempts to understand these differences by critically examining the criticisms raised by the McDonaldization theorists and the Labour Process theorists against the orthodox models of organisations and management in the light of available literature and examples. In order to understand the concept further, a brief note on each theories are necessary. The term was first coined by George Ritzer to refer to the rationalisation of work, life, and such. The concept argues that breaking down each task to the
  • 8. Semiotic Analysis of True Detective Semiotic Analysis of True Detective In 1951, the first television crime drama series, Dragnet significantly influenced our American culture. According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, the term dragnet is a symbol, for, a system of coordinated measures used to apprehend criminals or suspects. Most crime drama series solve a different case each episode. Although, in current pop culture crime dramas focus on one particular crime, throughout an entire season. Similar, to the show Homeland, the HBO crime drama True Detectiveadds a twist on the conventional series. The show depicts a subject matter that has affected modern society as a whole. Southern Louisiana policedetectives Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, in 2012, are asked to revisit their solving of a ritualistic murder case from 1995. The murder of a former student of the Light of the Way Christian Academy lays the foundation, for detective Cohle s doubts about the true design of religion. The True Detective storyline portrays the utilization of religion, education, and politics, by men in power who manipulate and control young innocent children. Questioning the validity of religion within a crime drama series is relative to modern society. The conspiracy within the Catholic Church to suppress hundreds of child molestations committed, by Catholic priests is a pertinent sign represented in True Detective . Southern Louisiana is located in the heart of the American Bible belt, where religion is not a choice, but a
  • 9. Analysis Of The Film Black Robe In the 1991 film Black Robe, which is set during the 1630s Beaver War in North America, the French make attempts to search for and continue to convert a Huron Indian tribe to Christianity. To complete this mission, the founder of the French settlement in Quebec, Samuel Champlain, sends a Jesuit priest, Father LaForgue, off to find the Indian tribe, and a man named Daniel and a family of Indians, who are a part of the Algonquintribe, accompany Father LaForgue on this journey. Some historical events that are mentioned in American Colonies by Alan Taylor that are dramatized by the film include the relationship between the Jesuits and the Indians and the love story. While, to an extent, the relationship between the two parties had many moments of accuracy, the film also made it seem like no matter what the Jesuit priest always was only looking out for the Indian people in order to convert them. The film ignores the side of the relationship where the French Jesuits primarily colonize the Indians, which ultimately leads to the death of thousands of Indians. Also, the love story between Daniel and Annuka who is the daughter of Chomina, who is accompanying the French on their mission, was dramatized. Recognizing that this love story s purpose is to entertain the viewer, the way the cultures collide is not as accurate as it could be. • 11. The Burden Of St. Paul Essay The Burden of St. Paul Today: Us vs Them Christianity has over 2.1 billion followers throughout the world and is known to be a universal, monotheistic belief system that has been developed since the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul is a man, which is known for his mission to spread Christianity. He was raised as a jew, and ironically, during his youth he was persecuted by Christians. Paul, known as Saul during this time, was born in Tarsus. Saul, during his years as a Jewish Pharisee in Tarsus, would militantly persecute anything that involved Christianity. He was so much opposed to Christianity that he was given authority by the chief priest to destroy these followers of Christianity. Saul decided that he would extend his persecution to other cities such as Damascus. It was this walk on the road to Damascus that would serve as a major turning point in his life. Jesus appeared to Saul, saying Saul, Saul! Why do you persecute me? (Acts 9:1 6) Paul was blinded, yet his mind became clear. He knew then that Jesus was calling him to spread the salvation brought by faith through Jesus Christ. These renewed eyes of Paul were now determined to seek out individuals that needed to hear about salvation through Jesus, specifically, his people the Jews. The Christian Church of today consists of approximately 38,000 Christian denominations spread out across the globe. Many of which actively send missionaries to foreign countries. Would Paul, or even
  • 12. Literary Analysis Of The Heart Of Darkness The overall meaning of the paragraph, that connects to the overall meaning of the novel, is that the average person has a deep resonance with the natives and their savagery lying within our minds and hearts. Marlow has crumbles of this mentality through his journey, when he comes into contact with the natives on various occasions, and is able to distinguish an odd relationship between the denizen and the citizen. In this particular instance, as Marlow travels to through the Congo River on a steam boat, he is able to meet and interact with the African natives, both on and off the steamboat. With the various interactions, he slowly finds himself learning about the social interactions that the natives have and are capable of, and has his previous mental notions and structures of the community shaken and reconstructed. Finally, Marlow comes to conclusion; both the average city dweller and African native share a link of ancestry, humanity, and are no internal difference between one another. The only difference that can be found is based of societal expectations and thinking that fools people into believing that the two are not mutual in any degree, which would be the root of evil practices, such as dehumanization. Conrad has a keen eye for the particular lengths and punctuations being used throughout the novel, and can be clearly identified within the given paragraph. Through literary techniques such as syntax Conrad is able to implore the audience to realize such a mindset, and
  • 13. Chromium Plating Research Paper Due to the industrial restrictions in place across some the main areas of the world under health and safety regulations, finding an alternative plating process to the current hexavalent chromium process has become a real necessity. Trivalent chromium has proved to be a suitable replacement due to being less toxic, both health wise and environmentally, whilst also demonstrating almost identical metalfinishes to those of the hexavalent chromiumdeposits. However, the trivalent chromium chemical process is not without its difficulties, such as the inertness of the Cr3+ ions to be reduced to their metallic state, or the initial inferiority of the metal deposits physical properties in comparison to the deposits attained from conventional techniques. In order to overcome these issues multiple approaches have been investigated. It has been found that the use of complexing agents in the trivalent chromium electrolyte solution work to generate stable complexes with Cr3+ through ligand exchange which are then easily reducible to metallic chromium. Not only does this now allow chromium deposition to take place, but it also improves the current efficiency of the electrodeposit. The process of co depositing chromium as an alloy with other metals has shown to enhance the physical and chemical properties of the metal as opposed to individual electrodepositions; an ability that is unattainable for hexavalent chromium, giving an immediate advantage. In addition, the outcome of

In order to visit my family in Rhode Island over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, I decided that the quickest travel option would be to take a Southwest Airlines flight from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) to T.F. Green Airport (PVD). Anticipating the high volume of people also trying to travel during the holiday season, I decided to arrive at the airport couple of hours early to ensure that I would be able to check my bags, go through TSA security, and have enough time to go to the restroom before boarding for Southwest began. Between the time of arrival at the airport and the time a plane leaves the gate for take off, I noticed that within the airport, in order to eventually board their respective aircrafts, travelers must navigate through multiple queues, which are line[s] of persons waiting in turn to be served, according, to order of arrival (Mann, 3). In engaging in these queues, passengers are participating in serially coordinated actions, in which multiple peopleare attempting to do the same thing at the same time, such that some must wait while others engage in the activity. After checking their luggage with their respective airlines, travelers must go through the TSA Security Checkpoint in order to be admitted onto the concourse. The process of moving through TSA could be considered a compound (sequentially linked) queue, where a single larger action is accomplished over multiple queues. Chemical kinetics concerns the rates of chemical reactions and what factors affects these rates (Iodine Clock, 2017). Temperature, concentration, pressure of reacting gases, surface area of reacting solids and the use of catalysts are all factors which affect the rate of a reaction (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). This is because they affect the reaction roles and yields of activation energy, product management and reactant management (William, 2017). This is accomplished by making changes to the concentration, pressure or temperature of a reaction to alter the position of the equilibrium (Bbc.co.uk, 2017). Accordingly, the ... His use of Roderigo is a masterly move. From being a Venetian gentleman, Roderigo becomes Iago s gull. In the very first scene he gets him to confront a sleepy Brabantio and give him the news of his daughters escapades with the Moor. At the end of the court scene in the first act, Iago and Roderigo are left alone with the poor doting lover in great despair. Roderigo takes a decision to drown himself. Iago easily convinces him out of it by pointing out Othello s shortcomings. Says he, She must change for youth: when she is sated with his body, she will find the errors of his choice. When it came to creating dances, Humphrey was interested in group dynamics. She also had a strong connection with music, therefore, music visualization is a way to see the music through the dance, sometimes having the dances follow rhythmic patterns (pg.81). Also, the choreographer, Isadora Duncan, created dances centered on the emotion of Mother, depicting a sorrowful and broken figure. You have to be skating as fast as you can on slippery ice on thin blades, while you are wearing extra gear to protect you and holding a stick focusing on getting a small puck into a net. For example, not getting a passing grade then ignoring it and not taking the proper steps like retaking it. Of course, this can become unsafe because there could be some medical needs that are not being met. Since defense mechanisms are unconscious, it is safe to assume that they are a natural part of our development. In fact, denial is quite common in preschoolers and as we develop as do our understanding of these defense mechanisms so we replace the old ones with new mechanisms (Cramer, 1999). As we advance the mechanisms we use become more complex like going from denial to projection. Projection involved placing feelings about one situation on someone or something also. This seems to be more complicated because they have to know that we cannot express ourselves inappropriately to the initial issue and find somewhere else where it may be more acceptable. Like, your parents making you angry then, you being mean to your sibling even though it is not warranted. While our ages increase and our defense mechanisms begin to adapt and the old defenses aren t used as much as mention earlier. We now know that when the childhood methods lie, denial and projection linger past their time psychopathology can develop as time goes on (Cramer, 1999). Identification tends to come after projection, which is after denial and it assists in helping to become more independent and help to find who you are (Porerelli, Thomas, Hibbard, Cogan, (1998). Not to say that is a wrong way of interpreting the bible, but that the practice fails to understand the historical critical perspective of what Communion is. The original symbolism of Communion was meant to help unify the church. However, in today s society, there are different versions of Communion that actually separate the church into who is able or allowed to partake in the bread or the wine and who is not. There are closed and open Communions which undermines the original intent of a Communion by limiting who is allowed to take in the bread and the wine. That is not to say that Communion has been corrupted everywhere, but the fact that these terms exist exemplify that in some places, it has lost the original meaning. At the service I attended the Communion was passed around and each person served their neighbor after their turn. I was in the front row and would have been the last one to receive Communion. It has been just a coincidence that during this period of time while taking this environment class that the hurricanes in the southern states and islands have occurred which have had a tremendous impact on our environment. The last topic that I want to discuss is how this environmental class and the simple effort of informing myself has changed my perspective of every animal s purpose on this planet, and finding a new respect for these beautiful creatures that we share the world with. When you think of a food chain, you automatically know that humans are at the top, which still holds true, however myself and probably many other people only associate ourselves as the dominant species along with other animals such as wolves, bears etc. being the primary consumers. In reality, theres so many more levels on the food chain, making it a lot more complex system than it seems. You may ask why this is important or why I am even talking about it, and it the simple fact that I find myself guilty of being so selfish and not thinking about the bigger scheme of things. By learning how other animals interact in the lower part of the food chains gives you a new found respect for the food that you eat, along with a newfound respect for the animals themselves.
