Essay About Smoking
Crafting an essay on the subject of smoking can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires
navigating through a myriad of perspectives, scientific data, and societal implications. The topic
is inherently controversial, touching on health, personal choices, and public policy, making it a
complex terrain to navigate.
One of the primary difficulties lies in maintaining a balanced and unbiased tone. Addressing the
health risks associated with smoking requires a careful presentation of scientific evidence, while
also acknowledging the individual freedom to make choices. Striking this delicate balance
demands a thorough understanding of both the medical and ethical dimensions, demanding a
considerable amount of research and critical thinking.
Moreover, the essay must address the social aspects of smoking, considering cultural attitudes,
historical contexts, and the role of advertising and media influence. Discussing these factors
requires a nuanced approach, as it involves dissecting the interconnected web of societal norms
and personal behaviors.
In addition, the ever-evolving nature of the topic poses a challenge. New research findings,
policy changes, and shifting public opinions necessitate constant updates to ensure the essay
remains relevant and informative. Staying abreast of these developments requires ongoing
diligence and a commitment to presenting the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Conclusively, writing an essay on smoking demands a delicate balance between science, ethics,
and societal considerations. Navigating through these intricate aspects while maintaining a
coherent and engaging narrative is a formidable task. For those who find themselves grappling
with the complexities of this subject, seeking assistance from professional writing services, such
as HelpWriting.net, can provide valuable support in crafting a well-researched and insightful
essay.

Gender Parity In Canadian Government
The issue I have chosen to engage with is gender parity in the Canadian government.
This subject is important since, to this day, we still have non proportional
representation of women in the Canadian government. I believe that there is a strong
need for further proportional representation of women in government. It is the correct
position since, in order to represent their population, the government should be
proportional with regard to their population s diversity. My position reflects liberal
feminismsince it is a version of feminism that advocates equal opportunities for
women in addition to equal political rights.
For my political action, I will be sending, as soon as this proposal is accepted, a letter
to the member of parliament representing

Step into a time machine and go back approximately 77 years ago, where the
authentic Cheesecake recipe for the Cheesecake Factory was brought to light.
Evelyn Overton was reading a Detroitian newspaper when she first found the recipe
for success. The family s matriarch cooked the decadent cake for everyone, and As
the cakes became more popular through word of mouth, David Overton developed a
small delivery route. Everyone loved her Cheesecakerecipe so much that she chose to
establish a little cake shop. After a while, Evelyn gave up her dream of owning her

In 1972, with their children grownup, Evelyn and Oscar Overton decided to move to

Research paper: Causes of coral reef bleaching and how Co2 emissions affect coral
populations
The effects of Co2 emissions over the years have greatly impacted the way coral
reefs thrive in certain parts of the ocean. To understand why coralreefs are dying
throughout the oceans it is imperative to first see what a coral is and what it is
composed of. Corals are oceanic invertebrates which fall into the phylum Cnidaria.
Corals reefs mostly consist of shells made of aragonite, which is the crystallized form
of CaCo3. Small algae called zooxanthellae helps the corals with the vibrant colors
they are known for. Coals are one of the most inhabitable species found because of
what they can be composed of. For example, one species that make up the coral
reefs are sea anemone. Sea Anemones are chemically composed of a poison in their
tentacles that fire viciously into their victims penetrating them with a paralyzing
neurotoxin. Clownfish, however, had a mucus like layer that protects them from the
poison and is able to make a home out of the anemone. There is so much life that is
brought by coral reefs. There can be a plethora of symbiotic relationships found in
coral reefs. As years start to progress and humans are started to manipulate the natural
environment of these biological inhibitors. Coral reefs annually benefit human both
directly and indirectly by $375 and about 500 million people need the reefs in
Catherine The Great Biography
Catherine the Great, was born on May 2, 1729, in Stettin, Prussia (now Szczecin,
Poland), and became the Russian empress in 1762. During her reign, Russia
expanded its borders, made many political reforms, increased the religious toleration,
and modernized exponentially, earning her the title of Enlightened Despot. She died
on November 17, 1796 in Tsarskoye Selo, or what is now Pushkin.
Catherine, started out as a minor German princess. Her birth name was Sophie
Friederike Auguste, and she grew up in Stettin in a small feudal state called Anhalt
Zebst. Her father, Christian August, was a prince of these insignificant holdings, but
he gained fame for his military service. He served as a general for Frederick William
of Prussia. Princess Johanna ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No finalized laws or reforms came out of the commission, but it was the first time
that Russians from across the empire were able to express their thoughts about the
country s needs and problems. Ultimately, the Nakaz became more known for its
ideas and as a point towards Catherine s ideals and progressive thoughts, rather than
its actual influence on the country s standing.
A skeptic religiously, Catherine tried to diminish the power of the Orthodox Church.
She had given them the land peter had taken back, but she soon changed her mind.
Catherine declared that the church s wealth would belong to the state. To that end,
she made the church part of the state, and therefor all of its holdings, including more
than one million serfs.
At the time of Catherine s coup, Russia was viewed as underdeveloped and covered
in rural farms by many in Europe. She tried to change this negative opinion through
expanding and upgrading the country s educational systems and artist export.
Catherine owned a boarding school established for girls from affluent families in St.
Petersburg, and later called for free schools to be an accessible opportunity for

Social Movements Of Canada And Ghana
Social movements are everywhere. However, the transformation and publicity this
particular movement has received is admirable. During the Summer of 2015, BLM
publicly challenged politicians, including those in the 2016 U.S presidential
elections. A drawback of the movement is that it is decentralized and does not have
the funds or people with enough power to enforce a formal structure and hierarchy
within its network. One successful method the protestors employed to have their
voices heard is the staged demonstrations at numerous malls across the United
States on Black Friday, which is undeniably, a wisely chosen date to reach and
spread such messages in public to as many people as possible. Besides the U.S,
there are several BLM chapters in Canada and Ghana. The movement has also
expanded beyond street protests, such as college campuses who have taken part
including the University of Missouri protestin 2015. The simple hashtag is a
significant way to reach thousands of people efficiently and rapidly, however, the
movement has comprised a variety of tactics to have their voices heard. Not only
have they held marches and rallies, they have formed die ins also known as lie ins ,
which is a form of protest where protestors feign being dead. Furthermore, they use
several powerful slogans such as White silence is violence , Is my son next? and
Hands up, don t shoot . The most notable protests and demonstrations is without
doubt, the 2016 Presidential elections, the
Women Are Not Born But Made
Women are not born but made. Nowadays we celebrate women s day but there are
many situations we had come through to this position and space Punjabi women
occupy nowadays, and comparing it to the times 60 years ago. The age of my
grandmother. When the country had just got independence. When the women are
participating in nationalist movements were being pushed into the domestic
household works.
There have been innumerable debates about gender in (Banerjee 2012) Punjab
over last 60 years. Most of them were about women s positions in society, their
education, health, economic status, gender equality. What we can conclude from
these discussions is that how women have always held a certain contradictory
position in our developing country in past years. In recent years women held a
very less respectful position . they were not treated as human. On other hand, Punjab
has an increased percentage of literacy among women . now women are allowed to
enter into professional fields now. However, in the 1950s my grandmother tells
women were just made to do household chores. They were not allowed to get higher
education or even go out without the permission of parents. They were supposed to
be at home . while on the other hand the practices of female foeticide, poor health
conditions and lack of education persisting still continue. Even the supportive
ideology of the home being women s real domain and marriage being her ultimate
destiny has not changed much in last 60 years.

The State Of The Texas Constitution
There has been seven Texas Constitutions since 1827 including our current
Constitution, which was established on 1876. Our current constitution has been
amended hundreds of times because of its tight restrictions. The Legislative
department is the dominant branch of the Texas Constitution it is subject to check
and balances in the tripartite system. The Executive department limits the
government s power, and the judicial powers is divided into smaller courts. These
three branches of the Texasare examples of how restricted and limited our constitution
is.
The legislative branch is considered the most powerful branch of the rest because
of the amount of power and control it has on the government, it consists of the
Texas State Senate and the House of Representatives. Even though this branch is
considered the post dominant it has restrictions. These are 5 restrictions and limits
that this branch has. 1) The Texas Legislative Branch does not meet every year, it
meets every 2 years and only for 140 days. However, the governor of Texas has the
authority to call other meeting in between their regular scheduled time. 2) Article III
section 58 of the Texas Constitution says the Legislature shall hold its sessions at the
city of Austin, which is hereby declared to be the Seat of Government. 3) Article III
section 57 of the Texas constitution says that no local or special law shall be passed,
unless notice of the intention to apply therefor shall have been published in the
Lake Michigan s Radiography Program
I was excited when I was accepted into Radiologic program at Lake Michigan, a year
earlier I was very disappointed when I missed the deadline to apply into the
program because I was missing one of the required prerequisites to get into the
program. I had to wait a full year to apply again and I was very happy when I got
accepted into the program, it was hard to hide my excitement during the first
semester, I was charged and ready to go.
As part of the Radiography program, for the two years we are in the program we are
required to do clinical rotations at hospitals or clinics in the surrounding areas. They
were usually 24 hours a week during the fall and winter semesters and 40 hours a

Essay On Health Care Is Costly And Invaluable
Health Care is Costly and Invaluable

Health Care is Costly and Invaluable Rachel Shein and Steve Pilarski have a lot of
options when it comes to providing health care for their employees. The world of
Health Care involves many methods for individuals to find insurance either on their
own or through an employer. All the options and the new legislation has made it
difficult to find and pay for a policy as a small business owner because of all the
requirements he or she must make in order to avoid penalty charges. Rachel and
Steve are copreneurs running a whole sale bakery called Baked in the Sun that

Creating a desirable work environment will appeal to better employees that
contribute to the image and quality of the business which results in higher
profitability. Penalties are also very costly. Rachel and Steve would have to pay
$130,000 of penalties instead of about $118,000 for the health care plan. Although
both are costly, the business will lose both employees and more money without
coverage.
Shrinking Workforce Another option is shrinking the company s workforce to avoid
the requirements implemented by the Affordable Care Act. Having under 50
employees allows Rachel and Steve to instruct their employees to purchase their
own health care. This also comes with the same problem associated with simply
paying penalties: talented workers are less inclined to work there. Baked in the Sun
would either have to shrink their production, or outsource and hire independent
contractors. Rachel and Steve will lose more control over the supply chain if they
use a delivery company. Using another delivery company could create issues because
trucks are not always available for urgent deliveries. Instead, they would spend more
time coordinating pick up and drop off times convenient for both the delivery
company, their company, and the buyer. Although shrinking the workforce makes
financial sense, it does not advance the company.

Examples Of Psychological Resilience
Psychological Resilience
People contend with many difficult and trying times every day. These may be the
loss of a loved one, a serious illness, the loss of a job or source of income, a terrorist
attack, to mention but a few tragic events. More often than not, these events tend to
be life changing, and how people react to them matters. For the most part, most
people react to such incidences with a sense of uncertainty, accompanied by a
flood of strong emotions. In retrospect, people have the tendency to adapt
c0onsidrably to such life changing situations, albeit over time. This process
involves a lot of resilience, which is an ongoing process that necessitates effort,
time, and engagement, with the people going through a series of stages. Of
interest to this discourse, therefore, are some of the coping strategies individuals
employ, to cope with some of these challenging situations. To do this, this essay
uses the example of Frederic Henry in Ernest Hemingway s A Farwell to Arms.
First, we will talk about how Henry has a series of misfortunes from his past, which
he appears to cope with rather well. Second, we will talk about Catherine Barkley,
Frederic s love interest. She has also lost her fiancГ© when she meets ... Show more

psychological dysfunction may range from persistent negative moods, or even a
mental illness. This constitutes the mainstream perception of psychological
resilience. In this sense, Neill observes that psychological stressors, also dubbed risk
factors, are those experiences of major chronic or acute stress, such as the death or
someone close, chronic illness, or even the sexual, emotion, or even physical abuse
(par. 2). Other common stress factors include sudden employment, fear, or even
community violence, such as the recent upheaval of terrorist attacks across the
The Physics of Riding Bulls Essay
The Physics of Riding Bulls
Rodeo is a sport that came about by everyday work being made into competition.
Every event in rodeo has a practical purpose; all but one that is. There is no practical
reason to get on a bull; only the thrills, chills, and rush of excitement. ItВЎВ¦s more
than a challenge between riders. ItВЎВ¦s a challenge between man and beast.
Legendary cowboy Larry Mahan had an even different way of looking at it. He said,
ВЎВ§ItВЎВ¦s not a challenge with the animal but with the weakness in oneВЎВ¦s
selfВЎВЁ. At any rate, itВЎВ¦s all about the challenge.
The challenge is simple; stay on the bullВЎВ¦s back for eight seconds while keeping
one hand fee from contact with the bull or your own body. Well it sounds simple
anyways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This exerts a force in the opposite direction the bull is going. The force is the
product of the bullВЎВ¦s mass and its acceleration. With a rider on the bullВЎВ¦s
back this force then becomes a combination of the bullВЎВ¦s mass plus the
riderВЎВ¦s mass times the acceleration of both which is attributed only by the bull.
All the rider needs to do in this case is hold on tight. There may be some air
resistance, but it is too small to notice. The bull further complicates the ride by
bucking (a combination of raring, kicking, and jumping). Each component of the
buck is relatively simple. When a bull rares, it creates a force pushing the rider
backwards. When a bull kicks, it creates a force throwing the rider forwards. When
the bull jumps, it creates a force pushing the rider straight upwards. Each force is
once again the product of how fast the bull changes positions (acceleration) and
itВЎВ¦s mass. In each of these situations the bullВЎВ¦s mass is combined with the
riderВЎВ¦s. So, if the combined mass remains the same, all the rider has to do to
counter the force created by the bull is move in the opposite direction as the bull
with and equal acceleration. Acceleration equals the change in velocity divided by
the change in time. The velocity is the change in position divided by the change in
time. Both the bull and the rider can accelerate instantaneously. Therefore the velocity
is the only variable the rider needs to adjust to the counter the bullВЎВ¦s force. If the

The Cartesian Circle Essay
Descartes Cartesian Circle
Descartes Cartesian Circle has come under fire from countless philosophers because
it supposedly commits a logical fallacy with its circular reasoning. In his second
Meditation, Descartes attempts to prove the existence of God. He states that clear
and distinct perception leads to knowledge, and that God s existence is apparent and
obvious because of things we have come to perceive as knowledge. Furthermore, he
asserts that we cannot turn these perceptions into knowledge without the assurance
that God exists. Essentially, Descartes claims that God is a necessary condition for
knowledge, which in turn requires the existence of God. This circular logic presents a
problematic scenario similar to the chicken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In one publication James Van Cleve writes about a philosopher named Willis
Doney who advocates a solution to the Cartesian Circle called the Memory
Gambit. Doney s analysis reveals that Descartes says that if I remember clearly
and distinctly perceiving something that I do not now clearly and distinctly
perceive, I can be certain of it if and only if I know that God exists (Cleve, 56).
Doney proposes that an atheist can learn and ascertain knowledge about subjects
such as math if he clearly perceives them at the time. Whether or not he retains that
knowledge or is able to erase doubt regarding that knowledge is entirely dependent
on his comprehension of God s existence. Doney s interpretation therefore is that
the function of God is only to guarantee the accuracy of one s memory, rather than
regulate the transition from a perception to a piece of knowledge. In other words,
without a certainty that God exists, one is merely trapped in a moment, and can
only be certain of things perceived at any one given time. By denying one of the
premises that form the Cartesian Circle, it is possible to circumvent the logical
fallacy originally committed. Following in the steps of the first defense is one that
seeks to disprove Descartes second premise: in order to know that God exists, one
must first have a certainty that what they perceive is truly knowledge. Van Cleve

INTRODUCTION
Wine, as a product, does offer a degree of complexity that not many other categories
can claim. Wine is a beverage. Wine is a socialization tool or a way to celebrate an
event. Wine tells us about the history and culture of a country. Wine is a symbol of
prestige.
Traditionally, natural cork was considered the closure of choice, especially for wine
of any quality. In truth, natural cork has many advantages. It is natural, flexible and
compressible with amazing anti slip properties. It is also biodegradable, 100%
recyclable and, cork forests promote biodiversity. Most important natural cork has
proven to be extremely suitable for long term wine aging. But wineries are switching
to screw caps and other alternative closures to ensure quality and reduce the
possibility of contamination with TCA (the chemical compound 2,4,6
trichloroanisole), which a wine gets with a faulty cork leaving behind the musty and
damp smell but there is still the hesitation thinking that screw caps may not be
provided with the same aging effect as the wines under cork does. An important
advantage of the screw cap is that it really preserves the aromatic freshness and
youthfulness of a wine (The Kitchen, 2008).
The type of closure selected for wine has
Sonny Corleone s Injustice In The Film, The Godfather
The Godfather In the chosen scene, we see Sonny Corleone heading home after an
incident where he threatens his brother in law with death if he continues to abuse
the sister of Sonny. On his drive back, he stops at a toll booth; however, cars pull
up behind him, and to each side boxing him in. The passengers of all 3 vehicles
open fire on Sonny resulting in his tragic death. I believe that this scene in
particular helps to embody the movie as a whole due to its tragic and violent nature.
For instance, earlier in the movie Don Corleon attempts to help his Godson, Johnny
Fontane, by influencing an abrasive studio yet through the death of his prized
stallion. However, a few scenes afterwards it can be seen that outside forces conspire

I believe that this scene in particular truly captures the devastation, destruction and
sadness that the true attack brought on both in reality and in the fictionalized
account created within the movie. The pain, the sorrow and the desire for revenge
that is reflected in the eyes and faces of the attendees helps to set the stage for the
subsequent scenes in the movie where the bombing run on Japan occurs. While I
do have to admit that there are an assortment of better scenes in the movie such as
the scene where Danny dies and tells Rafe with his last breath that Rafe will be a
father or the ending scene where Rafe and his young son ride off in a small plane,
the fact remains that these scenes could be attributed to any other fictional movie
while the memorial scene truly embodies the spirit of Pearl
Subprime Lending
Defining Subprime Lending The problem to be investigated is the effect of
subprime mortgage loans on the economy. According to Merriam Webster subprime
is defined as having or being an interest rate that is higher than a prime rate and is
extended especially to low income borrowers; extending or obtaining a subprime loan
(Webster, 2012). Subprime mortgageloans are loans given to people with a low
credit score. Subprime borrowers normally don t qualify for prime loans or prime
lending. According to Jennings, the subprime mortgage market is defined to include
those borrowers with a FICO (Fair Isaac Co.) score below 570 (Jennings, 2012, p.
434).

The vast majority of subprime loans are now securitized; leading to claims that
securitization facilitates predatory lending and should actively police lenders. New
standards to protect borrowers against unfair practices were launched 1 July
including requirements to ensure they are not lured into credit contracts they cannot
afford to repay. The standards include provisions to stop predatory lenders from
exploitative practices such as using household items as security for cash loans
(Engel, K. amp; McCoy, 2007).
Lender and Incentives One has to wonder, why were subprime loans pitched to
consumers? They weren t pushed for altruistic purposes; not from the kindness of
the heart. The results were inevitable. According to the readings, subprime loans
ended with the same result. They were a risk for the consumer as well as the bank
backing the loan. There had to be some incentive for the banks; some benefit that is
reaped. In this case, it was a monetary benefit.
Yield spread premiums is what lenders call them. Consumer groups call them legal
kickbacks. YSPs are the cash that mortgage brokers or lenders get for steering a
borrower into a home loan with a higher interest rate (Center for Responsible
Lending, Yield Spread Premiums (YSPS).
However, the Federal Reserve stepped in and regulated these kickbacks.
New rules issued by the Federal Reserve Board mean that YSPs are no longer legal.
The Fed rules ban brokers and loan officers from

Comparing Cyrano de Bergerac and the Movie, Roxanne
Isn t it easier to accept the idea that a main character would be engaged in a fist
fight, rather than a sword fight? Aren t fire fighters, as characters, more believable
than a bunch of olden day French cadets? I certainly think so. To me it is just more
real to have the setting of a story in modern times and in the United States. Rostand s
Cyrano De Bergerac is written about a time that no one alive now has experienced.
There is the same plot idea that an ugly man wants the pretty girl, but she is too busy
being infatuated with the pretty boy to notice the intellect of the man she truly
comes to love. Steve Martin s Roxanne and Rostand s Cyrano De Bergerac are

The cadets are steadfast men who are ready to fight, but the firemen are a bunch of
goofy adults that really have no clue to what they are doing. Roxanne?s astronomer
hobby and job gives her the air of being intelligent and intellectual just like
Rostand?s Roxanne has. Le Bret and Raganeau morphed into the more modern
character, Dixie. She takes on the role of being Charlie Bales? confident and most
trusted friend. In this story, Dixie plays a key role to the plot by giving Roxanne the
letter Charlie wrote. She slyly put Charlie?s name on the back so that Roxanne would
finally figure out it was Charlie, not Chris, who is an intellectual mastermind. Giving
the characters and setting a modern angle helps the present society relate to the
masterpiece by Rostand.
Is the tragedy lost, or is it just more believable? One of the most profound changes
is the difference in what happens after Chris, or Christian, joyfully rushes to
Roxanne?s room after the balcony scene. In the original, Cyrano keeps his word to
help Christian and distracts De Guiche from interrupting what is going on in the
house. In the modern version, though, Charlie sends the old ladies to walk in on
Roxanne and Chris. Most people would probably have done the same thing. A
person who is in love with another person won?t just sit back and watch while
someone else steals the love away. They would seize the opportunity to stop anything
going on between them. The second change is the fact that

Henry almost completely into the person he is. He becomes more daring and defiant

Unsatisfactory Score
Credit scores a can help or hinder the average consumer from getting loans, credit
cards, cars, and even a home. A good credit score is above 670 in terms of the
FICO score range. Whether you are a young adult with no credit or an older person
who needs to repair an unsatisfactory score, implementing these 6 strategies will assist
in building an adequate credit score:
1.Get a secured credit card
The first step to building a credit score is having something to build it on. Secured
credit cards are the best option for people with a bad score or no score. These cards
use the owner s initial deposit amount as collateral in the case that they miss
payments. The key to bettering a score with this method is to pay down your
balances, and keep those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason it makes up for such a large part of the process is because a clean
payment history shows credit companies that you are responsible and financially
stable enough to pay bills and loans on time.
3.Watch your credit score
There is a misconception that checking one s credit score often will lower it. It is a
good idea to make sure you check your Experian, Equifax, and Transunion reports
occasionally. Another misconception that people have is that checking their score
will cost money. While some sites do require this, CreditKarma and
AnnualCreditReport allow people to check them for free.
4.Get rid of old credit balances
It is best to get rid of debt as soon as possible. Old balances not only cost more as
interest rises, they also can increase your credit utilization ratio. This ratio should be
30% or less to keep a good score.
5.Avoid applying for many credit cards
When you apply for a new card, the companies will inquire about your credit
history to bureaus. This act is called a hard inquiry and does harm your score,
though in a minor way. However, this can add up to it is best to avoid applying for
too many cards and only going for one after extensive research.

universe. What is out there? There is a many number of possibilities. There could be
other universes, or maybe there is nothing out there. We don t know. If there are other
universes or other dimensions, we might be able to inhabit them. They could have

These are the 10 dimensions of the superstring theory. Evidence of the Multiverse
and Multiverse Theories There are 5 main theories on why the multiverse is
possible. The first theory is that we don t know the shape of space time. Space time
could be flat and stretch on forever causing multiple universes. If this theory is true
there would be universes that repeat themselves because atoms can only be put
together so many ways (Howell). The second theory is eternal inflation. This states
that some areas of space stop inflation, but some continue to get larger, so our
universe could be a bubble sitting in a network of bubble universes. In this theory the
laws of physics could be different for each universe because they aren t linked
(Howell). The third theory is that multiple universes can follow the theory of
quantum mechanics, and daughter universes. If you follow the laws of probability it
suggests that for every outcome that could come from your decisions there would be
a range of universes, each with a different outcome from your decisions (Howell). The
fourth theory of the multiverse is that of mathematical universes. This theory suggests
that the structure mathematics could change depending on which universe you are in
(Howell). The last multiverse theory goes back to the fact that spacetime could be
flat. But, the number of possible particle configuration in multiple

Greek History Essay
Greek History
The Ancient Greek civilization was located on the same land Greece is now, Ionian
Islands, Asia Minor, South Italy, and Sicily. It is surrounded mountains and in the
north by water. The Ionian and the Aegean seas, together with natural islands and
bays, gave the Greeks the opportunity to develop their high level of commerce and
their rich culture. The mountains, which surrounded Greece, gave them the
advantage of being well protected.
From earlier times, the Geeks lived in independent settlements, and they were isolated
from one another. Later, these settlements grew into bigger cities and/or formed city
states. The Greek civilization has made great contributions in many areas to western

Later the Greek fled into the sea on boats and planned a trap for the evil army. They
managed a surprise attack by ramming the Persian ships thus creating the end of the

Alexander the Great, king of Macedonia, was born in July 356B.C. in Pella,
Macedonia. He was one of the greatest military geniuses in known history, he had
every battle planned out to the most crucial detail and left nothing to chance. His
father, Philip II of Macedon, was a brilliant ruler and strategist. As his mother,
Olympias, princess of Epirus, was pregnant they could foresee that the child would
have the heart of a line and the will of and eagle. Even as a Young boy Alexander
was fearless and strong, both physically as also mentally. At the age of 12, he tamed
a horse that none other could ride.
Alexander s teacher Leonidas taught him the way of the Spartans so he turned into a
militaristic machine.
As his father Philip was killed, Alexander had removed all those near him that
could be a threat to his throne. This is when Alexander s quest started, he ran over
Pelion, Illyria, and then Thebes. Spring 334 Alexander crossed the Dardanelles with
an army of 30,000 men into Asia. He then left his fathers closest friend in charge of
Europe with around 13,000 men. To meet Alexander s great army, the Persians had a

Equal Opportunity Evolves Human Resources
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EVOLVES HUMAN RESOURCES
The predominant founder of the civil rights movement of the 1960s, Martin Luther
King, stated, All progress is precarious, and the solution of one problem brings us
face to face with another problem (Mathis 2006). We daily witness the famed Civil
Rights Act of 1964 evolve to challenge and change human resource policies and
procedures to meet the increased complexity and awareness of human resources. The
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) was created by Title VII of the
Civil Rights Act of 1964; however, the Commission s mission has been shaped by
more than this one single piece of legislation. Numerous laws, amendments, and

Over the years these regulations have changed with the consciousness of the
people and the technologies of the day. Imperfect? Yes, but with increased
education and research into the needs of individuals and evolving forms of work
and organizations, the culture overall has demanded more equitable employment
practices, locally and nationally. I prefer fewer laws that perpetuate external
motivation for fairness, looking to the day when individuals increasingly become
internally led in their behavior. To that end, I selected three federal regulations
that seem to me to lead to that increased individual and family strength (however
we define family today) that collectively builds and sustains creative efforts for
quality living in balanced work and life settings. First, the Civil Rights Act of 1964
Title VII states it is illegal for employers to discriminate with respect to terms,
conditions, or privileges of employment because of race, religion, ethnics... (age,
gender, sexual orientation were added later) (EEOC). Let us examine the major
advantages and disadvantages of this huge legal step that took on the challenge of
eradicating exploitation of workers. One area of concern to me is hostile
environments, an area this act is designed to eliminate or minimize. Rita Byrnes
Kittle, EEOC Supervisory Trial Attorney, Denver Field Office (Kittle) gives an in
depth clarification of a hostile work environment, stating such an
Descriptive Essay About The Circus
The town of Smyrna was changed forever on the afternoon of May 18th. Barlow s

The Beliefs Of Judaism, Zionism And Judaism
There will always be differences in religion, history has shown us that. No one can
ever be truly correct; someone will always interject or disagree and there will
always be conflict when it comes to religions. Whether it comes down to debates, or
even wars have been fought because of difference in religion. One religion in
particular follow the same doctrine, but have different views on it, and that religion is
Judaism. In Judaism, there are the secular Zionistic Jews and then there are True
Torah Jews. Both believe in the same thing, but the way they carry it out is very
different. The first question is, where did Zionismcome from and how did it become
popular? Zionism all started with a man name Theodore Herzl about one hundred
years ago, and he got the great idea of starting a movement of taking the sacred True
Torah Judaism and changing it a little bit. He wanted to start a branch of the religion
and make it more secular, by not studying the Torah, and making Judaism more
territorial by thinking that this religion should be in one area and that is modern day
Jerusalem, or Israel. Instead of being like most religions where they want to spread
the word and go out and convert others into what they believe. Zionist think that
they should cut everyone off and go back to the promise land. Laura Wharton, of
the Jerusalem City Council, wrote about Zionism and said Theodor Herzl s vision
was of Israel as a haven for the Jewish people (p75). Laura touched base on Theodor

Abortion Did Not Lower Crime Rate
Ever since Freakonomics was published, and sold, which it sold very well to be
honest, there has been many debates about one theory that Steven D. Levitt used to
explain why the crime rate dropped in the 1990 s. That theory is that the Supreme
Court case of Roe V Wade, which legalized abortion in all fifty states. Steven Levitt
stated in Freakonomics that the legalization of abortion had the biggest percentage
of why the crime rate went down. Yet, I would like to question this theory myself.
One big controversy that I have with this theory is that Mr. Levitt did not put in to
factor the crack issues that were occurring during the time. The 1990 s was the
biggest boom for the crack industry, becoming the major reason of why people were
committing homicide during the decade. So how does one truly know if those
fetuses that were aborted would have joined the crack fiasco (http://online.wsj.com

HLjarwtM95Erz45QPP0pDWul8rc_20061127.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top). Another
issue that I have with this abortion theory is that it is being conducted as a total,
complete whole of all people in the United States. In the 1970 s non white females
were at their peak of abortions. One would expect that the crime rate should be the
lowest then in the 1990 s for non whites, but in the years of 1993 and 1994 homicide
was at its peak for young black male adults. Even though the statistics prove this to be
true, Levitt and his partner of this theory, John
Truth Is Culturally Relative
The quality of being true is related to something clear, without any uncertainty. This
is perfectly summarized by the Greek word for truth is бјЂО»О®ОёОµО№О±
(alГ©theia), from the privative prefix бјЂ (a ), meaning not , and О»О®ОёОµ (
lethe), oblivion , which, as Martin Heidegger (2001) explained by analysing its
etymology, refers to the state of not being hidden . Truthis a cross issue, that embraces
everything related to humans, from the most ordinary aspect of daily life, to the most
deep religious thought. The need to find what is true is part of the human nature, but
as the German philosopher Edmund Husserl (1965) stated, that same nature, which
gave us the need of knowledge, at the same time bound us to subjectivity, limiting our
understanding to judgement and interpretation, thus, truth can only be obtained
gradually, through a never ending task. This process of understanding finds its
ancient roots in Greece, in the VII VI century B.C., when philosophy was born and
the slow loss of universal certainties has started. The very first interest of
philosophers was that to define the concept of Being, a wide notion that embraces
objective and subjective features of reality. Throughout the philosophy of truth,
objectivism and subjectivism lead to the development of the two major approaches to
reality, Relativism and Universalism. One of the first interpretation of truth and
knowledge was given by the sophists, and it finds its primary source in Protagoras

Typhion Reflection
Typhion On a still night during the summer solstice, a young man lied in the grass
fields alongside his humble home, concentrating on the wind s whistle, the way it
caressed his skin so gingerly. His name was Typhion, son of commoners Agenor and
Agathe whom passed during his seventeenth year. Alone in the latter part of his life,
he became inevitably appreciative of his natural surroundings...particularly the wind
and the water (as he lived by a great ocean). Typhion thought of the wind as his
supreme companion, for it always held him, guided him, and swept soft music
through his ears. He would smile as the sky wept, its tears dancing down,
performing for his unaccompanied self. In the town which he lived the entirety of
his life, all the potential wives knew of and formed an aversion to his isolation (the
idea of marriage, or even companionship, was a far thought indeed). One day,
however, Typhion was trying to catch the wind in a jar; foolishly, he ran through
waves of wheat trying to catch a gust. When he neared a small stream, he noticed
the silhouette of what looked like a young woman. (Now, he had not much interest
in finding one to love, but, in all his solitude, he became curious of people.) He
crept along the bank in an attempt to observe the woman more clearly and, in doing
so, he heard her singing and thought to himself, Oh, how beautiful...how alike her
voice sounds to the wind. Typhion felt overtaken, possessed even, by a force which
took his feet toward
Principles And Beliefs Of Scientology
Principles and Beliefs The beliefs and practices I ve studied in Scientology have
been invaluable to me John Travolta, Member of the Church of Scientology The
most important features of Scientology lie in their foundations. In its creation it
was vital for the principles of Scientology to not only be original but also be
plausible enough for someone to believe wholeheartedly. This was accomplished
with flying colors. With this, it is also important to be familiar with these ideologies
in order to effectively analyze (and perhaps criticize) them. To begin, as always, it s
best to start at the beginning in this case Dianetics. For most Scientologists, Dianetics
is their very first glance into the world of Scientology. For all intents and purposes the
best way to describe the book, is as the holy book of Scientology. However, it does
much more than the Bible or the Qaran to their respective religions. This is because
instead of focusing on a series of stories, in which core of ideas are ingrained in the
text with the assumption that they will be correctly interpreted by a reader, Dianetics
is much more clear in its intentions, and feels more like a hybrid between a textbook
and a self help guide. Interestingly enough not once in its hundreds of pages does it
actually utter the word Scientology . Dianetics makes several astounding claims to
readers including increased mental capacity, emotional control, among many more.
Perhaps most impressive, is that many of
War Horse Evaluation Essay
War Horse Evaluation
On the 11th of March 2013 I went to see War Horse at the New London Theatre.
War Horse is a novel adapted by Nick Stafford and written by Michael Morpurgo.
The performance I saw was directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, it also
involved the incredible Handspring Puppet Company who created all the animals.
War Horse is set in Devon in 1914 and is about how a farmer, Ted Narracott who is
played by Jamie Kenna buys a thoroughbred horse rather than a plough animal, but
when his teenage son Albert played by SiГґn Daniel Young trains the horse and calls
him Joey, the two becoming inseparable. When his harvest fails, Ted has to sell Joey

For example when the actors were fence posts they held long canes to represent a
fence. The horses responded to being penned in by backing away from the fences,
again effectively allowing smooth transitions.
Another important aspect of the performance was the use of costumes. The
costumes were authentic of the early twentieth century and they were effective as
they helped set the scene. In Devon people mostly wore farming clothes and the
soldiers in the war wore army uniforms. An interesting contrast that I saw was that
The Handspring Puppet actors for Joey always wore the farmer s clothes even when
he was serving in the army. Whereas the army horse, Topthorn operated by Richard
Booth, Sergio Priftis and Antony Antunes always wore army clothes. This suggested
to me that despite Joey being forced to be a War Horse he belonged in Devon.
There were many moments in the play that effectively conveyed the themes. One
particular scene in Act Two stood out for me, this when Albert and one of his
fellow soldiers, David were hiding in the trench. The themes that were conveyed
here were loyalty and love. They were both talking about their loved ones which
for Albert was Joey and the other soldier, David talked about his girlfriend, Floss.
That scene was interesting as it used comedy in contrast to the horror of the war. It
started with a joke of how Floss looked like a horse but then the tension increased
again when suddenly David soldier said to Albert I put my foot in
The Great Gatsby Impact On Society
The roaring twenties was a time of economic growth and cultural prosperity. The
roaring twenties left an impact on authors similar to F. Scott Fitzgerald to write
novels based on this era. The novel The Great Gatsby was based on the era of 1920s
presenting several themes influenced by the change in culture and economy. The
revolving theme presented in the Great Gatsbyis the idea of old money vs new
money. The effect of new money coming into power made an impact on society and
this was showcased in the novel. After World War I, the United States
began to see a
growth in the economy, this was the beginning of the Roaring 20s. During this time,
money was easier to obtain and more began to carouse around. The prohibition law
was implemented during this time and allowed criminals to make money off selling
illegal alcohol. The increase in carousing and partying, increased the change in culture

Cinderella Brothers Grimm And The Little Glass Slipper

other things that were not mentioned in the original Cinderella. Because of the new

One Hunting Trip Research Paper
I have experienced many things in my short time on Earth. Many of these
experiences have been both memorable and incredibly impactful, but perhaps one
hunting trip has provided my most important life lessons, so far. On this trip I
learned the definition of lost, learned that what we take advantage of every day
should be cherished and learned the true meaning of family. After this trip the way I
viewed things and myself changed. Telling everyone this story has the ability to
potentially sway one person from making the same mistakes that I did, thus saving
them from difficulties, it will be worth it. It was a stormy winter s night, when I
decided to go out into some fields in North Dakota. The hunting in the morning was

I Am Depressed And Hungry
I am poor. I am depressed and hungry. I have nothing and own nothing. Survival is
difficult.
Every night, I sleep outside, in the boiling sun or in the freezing moonlight, on the
hard ground. Whether it is hailing or raining, I sleep there with my mama and sister.
But it never snows or rains here. We have no water.
In the morning, I wake up early, hungry, bony, and weak. My mama can t afford
breakfast like you can. Nothing lives here, so we are lucky if we find a few strands
of grass.
Today, my mama found a few bright red seeds. We tried to eat them, but we were
too weak to crack them open. The sun had made them as hard as pebbles. We are still
hungry.
Mama and my sister, Heyla, made necklaces, pretending the seeds were beads. They
really did look wonderful, but Mama knew we had to sell them.
I walked with Heyla, barefoot, on the rock covered ground. It had cracks in it from
all the heat and sunlight. Heyla and I panted to the village miles away, the stones and
solid pieces of dirt sticking painfully into our feet. The kids in the village had food
and shoes. They even had schools and homes. They were lucky.
Heyla entered the village gates first, but we both gasped at its sight. It looked like a
paradise to us. All those things. . . .
I wish we could live here, Heyla. Mama would be so much happier, I told my sister.
She nodded, but didn t answer. We both knew we couldn t afford life here. Ever
since Papa died, the villagers kicked us out.
At first when the villagers saw
Beauty Is Beauty Meaning
Beauty can be seen in every shape, form, or size. Despite the difference in its
existence, it cannot be treated different. Beauty is beauty. Here Claude McKay, Ben
Jonson, and Paul Dunbar allow us to see beauty in different forms, however all
meaning the same thing. From beauty in simplicity, beauty in showing one s true
emotions, and beauty in equality. The White City , Still To Be Neat, Still To Be
Dressed , and We Wear The Mask, reveal the definition of beauty in deviating
embodiments. The juxtaposition, repetition, and antithesis in the poems helps clarify
the author s purpose.
In Claude McKay s The White City, the beauty he perceives in the city is
juxtaposed with the reality that dwells in it. From a distance, McKay views the city
of his dreams, he describes it having towers as high they touch the clouds, though,
the city s environment fills him with hatred it is the only thing keeping him alive .
Although, he describes it as heaven in the white world s hell (Arp, 892). The strong
opposing connotation McKay notes, symbolizes the atmosphere in the city he so
desires. His heaven would be what the people in the city would consider hell . Since
the poem was written during the 1920s, a moment when racism and segregation was
highly concentrated. McKay describes heaven to be a place where blacks can be
mixed with the whites, which for the white city it would be hell. Likewise, for the
white city heaven would be McKay s hell, and conversely. The contrast helps to

Passive Euthanasia is the discontinuation of life sustaining medical procedures by the
attending physician, thereby allowing the patient to die without intervention from the
lack of medical treatment. This is commonly known as Pulling the Plug . Physician
Assisted Suicide is the act of the physician providing the patient with the means and
knowledge to perform life ending acts, but allowing the patient to carry out the
lethal act alone, at his or her own discretion. If a doctor provides a terminally ill
patient with a large quantity of morphine, but leaves the patient with the option of if
and when to take a lethal dosage, this is considered physician assisted suicide.
There are many arguments both for and against euthanasia. Many faith groups within
Christian, Muslim, Jewish and other religions believe that God gives life and
therefore only God should take it away. Suicide would then be considered an
interference of God s plan for that individual. Therefore, such groups argue that the
patient should continue living and suffering until God decides otherwise. Some
religious extremist groups take this idea to the extent that they will not seek medical

means does not prevent one from enlightening the self. Such is the case for both
Frederick Douglas and Malcolm X, two men who enlightened themselves without
access to the wealth that tethers education to those of the upper class. Hard work and
determination can win the day and bestow a freedom that only an advanced
education offers. These two men are shining examples of what can be accomplished
when someone refuses to be denied an education. This story tells about, Malcolm X
and Fredrick Douglas, and how they found themselves trapped, uninformed, and rose
above their demographics.
Malcolm X was an African American convict who educated himself during his
prison sentence. He focused on the study of the civil rights of African Americans.
The illumination of Malcolm X began when he went to Charlestown Prison.
Behind a string of robberies targeting wealthy whites. Malcolm is often quoted as
saying, It had really begun back in the Charlestown Prison . (437) He met a man
named Bimbi being more knowledgeable than Malcolm X this inspired his self
education. He read every book he could get his hands on. Malcolm X could not
understand what he read. Realizing he needed to broaden his vocabulary he
Essay about Math And Owning A Restaraunt

you to take a look at just how productive your restaurant is and what steps you need
to take in order to keep it successful. Profit and Loss statements are a big part of
owning a restaurant. Profit and Loss statements revolve around math too.
These statements using your bookkeeping records show what times you turned profit
and what times you took a loss. Using this mathematical step an owner can get ideas
about what was working for them and what wasn t.
Doing your business taxes requires a lot of math. Showing your business expenses

  • 2. Gender Parity In Canadian Government The issue I have chosen to engage with is gender parity in the Canadian government. This subject is important since, to this day, we still have non proportional representation of women in the Canadian government. I believe that there is a strong need for further proportional representation of women in government. It is the correct position since, in order to represent their population, the government should be proportional with regard to their population s diversity. My position reflects liberal feminismsince it is a version of feminism that advocates equal opportunities for women in addition to equal political rights. For my political action, I will be sending, as soon as this proposal is accepted, a letter to the member of parliament representing

Gutierrez Mrs. Ybarra Chemistry CC 20 Oct, 2017 Research paper: Causes of coral reef bleaching and how Co2 emissions affect coral populations The effects of Co2 emissions over the years have greatly impacted the way coral reefs thrive in certain parts of the ocean. To understand why coralreefs are dying throughout the oceans it is imperative to first see what a coral is and what it is composed of. Corals are oceanic invertebrates which fall into the phylum Cnidaria. Corals reefs mostly consist of shells made of aragonite, which is the crystallized form of CaCo3. Small algae called zooxanthellae helps the corals with the vibrant colors they are known for. Coals are one of the most inhabitable species found because of what they can be composed of. For example, one species that make up the coral reefs are sea anemone. Sea Anemones are chemically composed of a poison in their tentacles that fire viciously into their victims penetrating them with a paralyzing neurotoxin. Clownfish, however, had a mucus like layer that protects them from the poison and is able to make a home out of the anemone. There is so much life that is brought by coral reefs. There can be a plethora of symbiotic relationships found in coral reefs. As years start to progress and humans are started to manipulate the natural environment of these biological inhibitors. Coral reefs annually benefit human both directly and indirectly by $375 and about 500 million people need the reefs in

Ultimately, the Nakaz became more known for its ideas and as a point towards Catherine s ideals and progressive thoughts, rather than its actual influence on the country s standing. A skeptic religiously, Catherine tried to diminish the power of the Orthodox Church. She had given them the land peter had taken back, but she soon changed her mind. Catherine declared that the church s wealth would belong to the state. To that end, she made the church part of the state, and therefor all of its holdings, including more than one million serfs. At the time of Catherine s coup, Russia was viewed as underdeveloped and covered in rural farms by many in Europe. She tried to change this negative opinion through expanding and upgrading the country s educational systems and artist export. Catherine owned a boarding school established for girls from affluent families in St. Petersburg, and later called for free schools to be an accessible opportunity for children in towns all across
  • 6. Social Movements Of Canada And Ghana Social movements are everywhere. However, the transformation and publicity this particular movement has received is admirable. During the Summer of 2015, BLM publicly challenged politicians, including those in the 2016 U.S presidential elections. A drawback of the movement is that it is decentralized and does not have the funds or people with enough power to enforce a formal structure and hierarchy within its network. One successful method the protestors employed to have their voices heard is the staged demonstrations at numerous malls across the United States on Black Friday, which is undeniably, a wisely chosen date to reach and spread such messages in public to as many people as possible. Besides the U.S, there are several BLM chapters in Canada and Ghana. The movement has also expanded beyond street protests, such as college campuses who have taken part including the University of Missouri protestin 2015. The simple hashtag is a significant way to reach thousands of people efficiently and rapidly, however, the movement has comprised a variety of tactics to have their voices heard. Not only have they held marches and rallies, they have formed die ins also known as lie ins , which is a form of protest where protestors feign being dead. Furthermore, they use several powerful slogans such as White silence is violence , Is my son next? and Hands up, don t shoot . The most notable protests and demonstrations is without doubt, the 2016 Presidential elections, the

Nowadays we celebrate women s day but there are many situations we had come through to this position and space Punjabi women occupy nowadays, and comparing it to the times 60 years ago. The age of my grandmother. When the country had just got independence. When the women are participating in nationalist movements were being pushed into the domestic household works. There have been innumerable debates about gender in (Banerjee 2012) Punjab over last 60 years. Most of them were about women s positions in society, their education, health, economic status, gender equality. What we can conclude from these discussions is that how women have always held a certain contradictory position in our developing country in past years. In recent years women held a very less respectful position . they were not treated as human. On other hand, Punjab has an increased percentage of literacy among women . now women are allowed to enter into professional fields now. However, in the 1950s my grandmother tells women were just made to do household chores. They were not allowed to get higher education or even go out without the permission of parents. They were supposed to be at home . while on the other hand the practices of female foeticide, poor health conditions and lack of education persisting still continue. Even the supportive ideology of the home being women s real domain and marriage being her ultimate destiny has not changed much in last 60 years. When our

Our current constitution has been amended hundreds of times because of its tight restrictions. The Legislative department is the dominant branch of the Texas Constitution it is subject to check and balances in the tripartite system. The Executive department limits the government s power, and the judicial powers is divided into smaller courts. These three branches of the Texasare examples of how restricted and limited our constitution is. Essay On Health Care Is Costly And Invaluable Health Care is Costly and Invaluable Cana Rainwater Charleston Southern University Health Care is Costly and Invaluable Rachel Shein and Steve Pilarski have a lot of options when it comes to providing health care for their employees. The world of Health Care involves many methods for individuals to find insurance either on their own or through an employer. All the options and the new legislation has made it difficult to find and pay for a policy as a small business owner because of all the requirements he or she must make in order to avoid penalty charges. Creating a desirable work environment will appeal to better employees that contribute to the image and quality of the business which results in higher profitability. Penalties are also very costly. Rachel and Steve would have to pay $130,000 of penalties instead of about $118,000 for the health care plan. Although both are costly, the business will lose both employees and more money without coverage. Shrinking Workforce Another option is shrinking the company s workforce to avoid the requirements implemented by the Affordable Care Act. Having under 50 employees allows Rachel and Steve to instruct their employees to purchase their own health care. This also comes with the same problem associated with simply paying penalties: talented workers are less inclined to work there. Baked in the Sun would either have to shrink their production, or outsource and hire independent contractors. Rachel and Steve will lose more control over the supply chain if they use a delivery company. Using another delivery company could create issues because trucks are not always available for urgent deliveries. Instead, they would spend more time coordinating pick up and drop off times convenient for both the delivery company, their company, and the buyer. Although shrinking the workforce makes financial sense, it does not advance the company. Health Care is the Best Option Rising health
  • 11. Examples Of Psychological Resilience Psychological Resilience People contend with many difficult and trying times every day. These may be the loss of a loved one, a serious illness, the loss of a job or source of income, a terrorist attack, to mention but a few tragic events. More often than not, these events tend to be life changing, and how people react to them matters. For the most part, most people react to such incidences with a sense of uncertainty, accompanied by a flood of strong emotions. In retrospect, people have the tendency to adapt c0onsidrably to such life changing situations, albeit over time. This process involves a lot of resilience, which is an ongoing process that necessitates effort, time, and engagement, with the people going through a series of stages. Of interest to this discourse, therefore, are some of the coping strategies individuals employ, to cope with some of these challenging situations. To do this, this essay uses the example of Frederic Henry in Ernest Hemingway s A Farwell to Arms. First, we will talk about how Henry has a series of misfortunes from his past, which he appears to cope with rather well. Second, we will talk about Catherine Barkley, Frederic s love interest. Other common stress factors include sudden employment, fear, or even community violence, such as the recent upheaval of terrorist attacks across the
  • 12. The Physics of Riding Bulls Essay The Physics of Riding Bulls Rodeo is a sport that came about by everyday work being made into competition. Every event in rodeo has a practical purpose; all but one that is. There is no practical reason to get on a bull; only the thrills, chills, and rush of excitement. ItВЎВ¦s more than a challenge between riders. ItВЎВ¦s a challenge between man and beast. Legendary cowboy Larry Mahan had an even different way of looking at it. He said, ВЎВ§ItВЎВ¦s not a challenge with the animal but with the weakness in oneВЎВ¦s selfВЎВЁ. At any rate, itВЎВ¦s all about the challenge. The challenge is simple; stay on the bullВЎВ¦s back for eight seconds while keeping one hand fee from contact with the bull or your own body. Well it sounds simple anyways. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This exerts a force in the opposite direction the bull is going. The force is the product of the bullВЎВ¦s mass and its acceleration. With a rider on the bullВЎВ¦s back this force then becomes a combination of the bullВЎВ¦s mass plus the riderВЎВ¦s mass times the acceleration of both which is attributed only by the bull. All the rider needs to do in this case is hold on tight. There may be some air resistance, but it is too small to notice. The bull further complicates the ride by bucking (a combination of raring, kicking, and jumping). Each component of the buck is relatively simple. When a bull rares, it creates a force pushing the rider backwards. When a bull kicks, it creates a force throwing the rider forwards. When the bull jumps, it creates a force pushing the rider straight upwards. Each force is once again the product of how fast the bull changes positions (acceleration) and itВЎВ¦s mass. In each of these situations the bullВЎВ¦s mass is combined with the riderВЎВ¦s. So, if the combined mass remains the same, all the rider has to do to counter the force created by the bull is move in the opposite direction as the bull with and equal acceleration. Acceleration equals the change in velocity divided by the change in time. The velocity is the change in position divided by the change in time. Both the bull and the rider can accelerate instantaneously. Therefore the velocity is the only variable the rider needs to adjust to the counter the bullВЎВ¦s force. If the distance change
  • 13. The Cartesian Circle Essay Descartes Cartesian Circle Descartes Cartesian Circle has come under fire from countless philosophers because it supposedly commits a logical fallacy with its circular reasoning. In his second Meditation, Descartes attempts to prove the existence of God. He states that clear and distinct perception leads to knowledge, and that God s existence is apparent and obvious because of things we have come to perceive as knowledge. Furthermore, he asserts that we cannot turn these perceptions into knowledge without the assurance that God exists. Essentially, Descartes claims that God is a necessary condition for knowledge, which in turn requires the existence of God. This circular logic presents a problematic scenario similar to the chicken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In one publication James Van Cleve writes about a philosopher named Willis Doney who advocates a solution to the Cartesian Circle called the Memory Gambit. Doney s analysis reveals that Descartes says that if I remember clearly and distinctly perceiving something that I do not now clearly and distinctly perceive, I can be certain of it if and only if I know that God exists (Cleve, 56). Doney proposes that an atheist can learn and ascertain knowledge about subjects such as math if he clearly perceives them at the time. Whether or not he retains that knowledge or is able to erase doubt regarding that knowledge is entirely dependent on his comprehension of God s existence. Doney s interpretation therefore is that the function of God is only to guarantee the accuracy of one s memory, rather than regulate the transition from a perception to a piece of knowledge. In other words, without a certainty that God exists, one is merely trapped in a moment, and can only be certain of things perceived at any one given time. By denying one of the premises that form the Cartesian Circle, it is possible to circumvent the logical fallacy originally committed. Following in the steps of the first defense is one that seeks to disprove Descartes second premise: in order to know that God exists, one must first have a certainty that what they perceive is truly knowledge. Van Cleve sheds some light on this by

Wine is a beverage. Wine is a socialization tool or a way to celebrate an event. Wine tells us about the history and culture of a country. Wine is a symbol of prestige. Traditionally, natural cork was considered the closure of choice, especially for wine of any quality. In truth, natural cork has many advantages. It is natural, flexible and compressible with amazing anti slip properties. It is also biodegradable, 100% recyclable and, cork forests promote biodiversity. Most important natural cork has proven to be extremely suitable for long term wine aging. But wineries are switching to screw caps and other alternative closures to ensure quality and reduce the possibility of contamination with TCA (the chemical compound 2,4,6 trichloroanisole), which a wine gets with a faulty cork leaving behind the musty and damp smell but there is still the hesitation thinking that screw caps may not be provided with the same aging effect as the wines under cork does. An important advantage of the screw cap is that it really preserves the aromatic freshness and youthfulness of a wine (The Kitchen, 2008). The type of closure selected for wine has

The vast majority of subprime loans are now securitized; leading to claims that securitization facilitates predatory lending and should actively police lenders. New standards to protect borrowers against unfair practices were launched 1 July including requirements to ensure they are not lured into credit contracts they cannot afford to repay. The standards include provisions to stop predatory lenders from exploitative practices such as using household items as security for cash loans (Engel, K. amp; McCoy, 2007). Lender and Incentives One has to wonder, why were subprime loans pitched to consumers? They weren t pushed for altruistic purposes; not from the kindness of the heart. The results were inevitable. According to the readings, subprime loans ended with the same result. They were a risk for the consumer as well as the bank backing the loan. There had to be some incentive for the banks; some benefit that is reaped. In this case, it was a monetary benefit. Yield spread premiums is what lenders call them. Consumer groups call them legal kickbacks. YSPs are the cash that mortgage brokers or lenders get for steering a borrower into a home loan with a higher interest rate (Center for Responsible Lending, Yield Spread Premiums (YSPS). Comparing Cyrano de Bergerac and the Movie, Roxanne Isn t it easier to accept the idea that a main character would be engaged in a fist fight, rather than a sword fight? Aren t fire fighters, as characters, more believable than a bunch of olden day French cadets? I certainly think so. To me it is just more real to have the setting of a story in modern times and in the United States. Rostand s Cyrano De Bergerac is written about a time that no one alive now has experienced. One of the most profound changes is the difference in what happens after Chris, or Christian, joyfully rushes to Roxanne?s room after the balcony scene. In the original, Cyrano keeps his word to help Christian and distracts De Guiche from interrupting what is going on in the house. In the modern version, though, Charlie sends the old ladies to walk in on Roxanne and Chris. Most people would probably have done the same thing. These are the 10 dimensions of the superstring theory. Evidence of the Multiverse and Multiverse Theories There are 5 main theories on why the multiverse is possible. The first theory is that we don t know the shape of space time. Space time could be flat and stretch on forever causing multiple universes. If this theory is true there would be universes that repeat themselves because atoms can only be put together so many ways (Howell). The second theory is eternal inflation. This states that some areas of space stop inflation, but some continue to get larger, so our universe could be a bubble sitting in a network of bubble universes. In this theory the laws of physics could be different for each universe because they aren t linked (Howell). The third theory is that multiple universes can follow the theory of quantum mechanics, and daughter universes. If you follow the laws of probability it suggests that for every outcome that could come from your decisions there would be a range of universes, each with a different outcome from your decisions (Howell). The fourth theory of the multiverse is that of mathematical universes. This theory suggests that the structure mathematics could change depending on which universe you are in (Howell). Yes, but with increased education and research into the needs of individuals and evolving forms of work and organizations, the culture overall has demanded more equitable employment practices, locally and nationally. I prefer fewer laws that perpetuate external motivation for fairness, looking to the day when individuals increasingly become internally led in their behavior. To that end, I selected three federal regulations that seem to me to lead to that increased individual and family strength (however we define family today) that collectively builds and sustains creative efforts for quality living in balanced work and life settings. First, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Title VII states it is illegal for employers to discriminate with respect to terms, conditions, or privileges of employment because of race, religion, ethnics... • 26. The Beliefs Of Judaism, Zionism And Judaism There will always be differences in religion, history has shown us that. No one can ever be truly correct; someone will always interject or disagree and there will always be conflict when it comes to religions. Whether it comes down to debates, or even wars have been fought because of difference in religion. One religion in particular follow the same doctrine, but have different views on it, and that religion is Judaism. In Judaism, there are the secular Zionistic Jews and then there are True Torah Jews. Both believe in the same thing, but the way they carry it out is very different. The first question is, where did Zionismcome from and how did it become popular? Zionism all started with a man name Theodore Herzl about one hundred years ago, and he got the great idea of starting a movement of taking the sacred True Torah Judaism and changing it a little bit. He wanted to start a branch of the religion and make it more secular, by not studying the Torah, and making Judaism more territorial by thinking that this religion should be in one area and that is modern day Jerusalem, or Israel. Instead of being like most religions where they want to spread the word and go out and convert others into what they believe. Zionist think that they should cut everyone off and go back to the promise land. Laura Wharton, of the Jerusalem City Council, wrote about Zionism and said Theodor Herzl s vision was of Israel as a haven for the Jewish people (p75). Laura touched base on Theodor did
  • 27. Abortion Did Not Lower Crime Rate Ever since Freakonomics was published, and sold, which it sold very well to be honest, there has been many debates about one theory that Steven D. Levitt used to explain why the crime rate dropped in the 1990 s. That theory is that the Supreme Court case of Roe V Wade, which legalized abortion in all fifty states. Steven Levitt stated in Freakonomics that the legalization of abortion had the biggest percentage of why the crime rate went down. Yet, I would like to question this theory myself. One big controversy that I have with this theory is that Mr. Levitt did not put in to factor the crack issues that were occurring during the time. The 1990 s was the biggest boom for the crack industry, becoming the major reason of why people were committing homicide during the decade. So how does one truly know if those fetuses that were aborted would have joined the crack fiasco (http://online.wsj.com /public/article/SB113314261192407815 HLjarwtM95Erz45QPP0pDWul8rc_20061127.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top). Another issue that I have with this abortion theory is that it is being conducted as a total, complete whole of all people in the United States. In the 1970 s non white females were at their peak of abortions. One would expect that the crime rate should be the lowest then in the 1990 s for non whites, but in the years of 1993 and 1994 homicide was at its peak for young black male adults. Even though the statistics prove this to be true, Levitt and his partner of this theory, John

This is perfectly summarized by the Greek word for truth is бјЂО»О®ОёОµО№О± (alГ©theia), from the privative prefix бјЂ (a ), meaning not , and О»О®ОёОµ ( lethe), oblivion , which, as Martin Heidegger (2001) explained by analysing its etymology, refers to the state of not being hidden . Truthis a cross issue, that embraces everything related to humans, from the most ordinary aspect of daily life, to the most deep religious thought. The need to find what is true is part of the human nature, but as the German philosopher Edmund Husserl (1965) stated, that same nature, which gave us the need of knowledge, at the same time bound us to subjectivity, limiting our understanding to judgement and interpretation, thus, truth can only be obtained gradually, through a never ending task. This process of understanding finds its ancient roots in Greece, in the VII VI century B.C., when philosophy was born and the slow loss of universal certainties has started. The very first interest of philosophers was that to define the concept of Being, a wide notion that embraces objective and subjective features of reality. Throughout the philosophy of truth, objectivism and subjectivism lead to the development of the two major approaches to reality, Relativism and Universalism. One of the first interpretation of truth and knowledge was given by the sophists, and it finds its primary source in Protagoras fragment of all

Typhion Reflection Typhion On a still night during the summer solstice, a young man lied in the grass fields alongside his humble home, concentrating on the wind s whistle, the way it caressed his skin so gingerly. His name was Typhion, son of commoners Agenor and Agathe whom passed during his seventeenth year. Alone in the latter part of his life, he became inevitably appreciative of his natural surroundings...particularly the wind and the water (as he lived by a great ocean). Typhion thought of the wind as his supreme companion, for it always held him, guided him, and swept soft music through his ears. He would smile as the sky wept, its tears dancing down, performing for his unaccompanied self. In the town which he lived the entirety of his life, all the potential wives knew of and formed an aversion to his isolation (the idea of marriage, or even companionship, was a far thought indeed). One day, however, Typhion was trying to catch the wind in a jar; foolishly, he ran through waves of wheat trying to catch a gust. When he neared a small stream, he noticed the silhouette of what looked like a young woman. (Now, he had not much interest in finding one to love, but, in all his solitude, he became curious of people.) He crept along the bank in an attempt to observe the woman more clearly and, in doing so, he heard her singing and thought to himself, Oh, how beautiful...how alike her voice sounds to the wind. Typhion felt overtaken, possessed even, by a force which took his feet toward

In its creation it was vital for the principles of Scientology to not only be original but also be plausible enough for someone to believe wholeheartedly. This was accomplished with flying colors. With this, it is also important to be familiar with these ideologies in order to effectively analyze (and perhaps criticize) them. To begin, as always, it s best to start at the beginning in this case Dianetics. For most Scientologists, Dianetics is their very first glance into the world of Scientology. For all intents and purposes the best way to describe the book, is as the holy book of Scientology. However, it does much more than the Bible or the Qaran to their respective religions. This is because instead of focusing on a series of stories, in which core of ideas are ingrained in the text with the assumption that they will be correctly interpreted by a reader, Dianetics is much more clear in its intentions, and feels more like a hybrid between a textbook and a self help guide. Interestingly enough not once in its hundreds of pages does it actually utter the word Scientology . Dianetics makes several astounding claims to readers including increased mental capacity, emotional control, among many more. Perhaps most impressive, is that many of

War Horse is a novel adapted by Nick Stafford and written by Michael Morpurgo. The performance I saw was directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, it also involved the incredible Handspring Puppet Company who created all the animals. For example when the actors were fence posts they held long canes to represent a fence. The horses responded to being penned in by backing away from the fences, again effectively allowing smooth transitions. Another important aspect of the performance was the use of costumes. The costumes were authentic of the early twentieth century and they were effective as they helped set the scene. In Devon people mostly wore farming clothes and the soldiers in the war wore army uniforms. An interesting contrast that I saw was that The Handspring Puppet actors for Joey always wore the farmer s clothes even when he was serving in the army. Whereas the army horse, Topthorn operated by Richard Booth, Sergio Priftis and Antony Antunes always wore army clothes. This suggested to me that despite Joey being forced to be a War Horse he belonged in Devon. There were many moments in the play that effectively conveyed the themes. One particular scene in Act Two stood out for me, this when Albert and one of his fellow soldiers, David were hiding in the trench. The themes that were conveyed here were loyalty and love. They were both talking about their loved ones which for Albert was Joey and the other soldier, David talked about his girlfriend, Floss. That scene was interesting as it used comedy in contrast to the horror of the war. It started with a joke of how Floss looked like a horse but then the tension increased again when suddenly David soldier said to Albert I put my foot in

Physician Assisted Suicide is the act of the physician providing the patient with the means and knowledge to perform life ending acts, but allowing the patient to carry out the lethal act alone, at his or her own discretion. If a doctor provides a terminally ill patient with a large quantity of morphine, but leaves the patient with the option of if and when to take a lethal dosage, this is considered physician assisted suicide. There are many arguments both for and against euthanasia. Many faith groups within Christian, Muslim, Jewish and other religions believe that God gives life and therefore only God should take it away.
