The Technological Evolution Of The Media Industry
The technological evolution has played an inevitable and indispensable role in changing the facade of
the world. In particular, recent developments and innovations in the field of science and technology
have transformed the entire paradigm of media industry. It has been established that in the
contemporary or technology driven media environment, the traditional concept of ownership,
intellectual property, as well as copyright has become a controversial point (Sutherland Smith, 2015).
It is due to the fact that the technological advancements have created such practices that have
completely redefined the ways in which media was being consumed by the audiences. Most
importantly, the contemporary media practices have also played a major role ... Show more content on

High tech media tools and platforms have superficially changed the way in which people used to
consume media. It has been established that the recent technological advancements have played a
significant role in building entirely new and unique media environment. In accordance with the views
of Bird (2011), the new current contemporary age of information and technology has substantially
enabled the individuals to actively contribute and consume the media sources. It is significant to bring
into the notice that such practices were impractical to be attained by the consumers, in the past years.
Before the emergence of internet as well as web 2.0 technologies, the communication, distribution,
and creation of ideas was generally aided by the corporate middlemen . It is due to the fact that it was
quite difficult and impossible (to some extent) for the average person to coordinate in a free and
independent manner. However, the evolution and development of contemporary and higher innovative
web applications had changed the entire facade of the media consumption trends. In this account, it
has been assessed that the web based applications and state of the art technologies have completely
democratised this process (Muir, 2013). It is because; by using these technologies, the users can easily
participate in the consumption of media through

Anthropology and Its Branches
Anthropology is the study of human beings, in particular the study of their physical character,
evolutionary history, racial classification, historical and present day geographic distribution, group
relationships, and cultural history. Anthropology can be characterized as the naturalistic description
and interpretation of the diverse peoples of the world.
Modern day anthropology consists of two major divisions: cultural anthropology, which deals with the
study of human culture in all its aspects; and physical anthropology, which is the study of human
physical character, in both the past and present.
Anthropology emerged as an independent science in the late 18th century, it developed two divisions:

Biological Anthropology
Biological anthropology, also known as physical anthropology, deals with tracing the biological
origins, evolutionary changes, and the genetic diversity of the human species. In the process,
biological anthropologists study primate behavior, and anatomical variations between primates and
human beings in order to understand physical changes that have taken place in humans during their
evolutionary journey from apes. They may also take up genetic analysis and anthropometric studies to
find reasons behind the physical differences between people of various groups.
Besides these major branches, anthropology also has other divisions like forensic anthropology,
medical anthropology, and ecological anthropology. Although each branch is a specialized field of
study, they are inter related. This gives anthropologists an edge over researchers from other fields in
addressing human problems, as they study human existence not in isolation but in totality.
Evolution Of Man What is it?
The modern theory concerning the evolution of man proposes that humans and apes derive from an
apelike ancestor that lived on earth a few million years ago. The theory states that man,

Martin Luther Letter From Birmingham Jail
Letter from Birmingham Jail is an open letter that Martin Luther wrote expressing his feelings about
the racial injustice during his time period. He was put in jail when he wrote this letter for peacefully
protesting for justice for African Americans. Dr. Luther writes about what he did and why he did the
things he did. In his letter he doesn t just focus his bias opinion on the African American culture and
the horrific treatment that they have been given from the whites. No, his letter gives you an insight on
a wide variety of perspectives of people about his feelings towards justice. He references many
historical theologians and biblical characters who would have done just as he has done. This letter was

Luther has said in his letter was very persuasive to me. Dr. Luther was a very intelligent man that was
shown throughout the letter based on the words that he chose and the power that was amplified. I love
how he is not asking for revenge or sorrow of the things he has done but rather he is expressing his
thoughts and feelings through a calm and peaceful manner. He mentions how he was called an
extremist and at first and how he was offended but then later he took pride in that name. Dr. Luther
references how in the bible Jesus was an extremist for love and glory from God. He also says that we
are all extremist in one way or another. I have never heard that phrase in a positive way before. This is
my favorite part of his letter he says, the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind
of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? Will we be extremists for the
preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice? Again this shows the level of commitment that
he has for this cause that he his willing to write in this radical type of thinking and publish it for the

Gogol s Name In The Namesake
In the beginning of the novel, The Namesake, we see Gogol s parents suggest that he should go by the
name Nikhil when he starts Kindergarten. Born and growing up being called Gogol by his parents, it
was the only name that he had ever known, therefore he didn t really see into it much until he was
leaving for college. By this point, he grew to hate his name therefore resenting when people would ask
about it. When Gogol decided to attend Yale, he admitted that it was time to reinvent himself so he
officially changing his name to Nikhil. While the name conversation at Donald s house during the
gathering is still going full force, Moushumi blurts out that Nikhil changed his name. The room gets
completely quiet and suddenly people start asking questions, demanding answers. No one knows the
Gogol that we met at the beginning of the story. Apparently this is news to everyone that Nikhil
thought they would never find out. When Donald asked, What in the world made your parents choose
that name, (244) Nikhil instantly thinks back to the vividly awful story and can only mutter out that
his father was a fan. When Nikhil says, There s no such thing as a prefect name. I think that human ...

Age Degeneration Essay
Age Related Macular Degeneration
Age related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye disease related to aging. The disease causes you to
lose your central vision. Your central vision is what allows you to see objects clearly and to do daily
tasks like read and drive.
There are two main types of AMD:
Dry AMD. People with this type lose their vision slowly. Some people notice very little change in
their vision as they age. This is the most common type of AMD.
Wet AMD. People with this type lose their vision quickly.
CAUSES
This condition is caused by damage to the part of the eye that provides you with central vision
(macula). Dry AMD happens when deposits in the macula cause light sensitive cells in the macula to
slowly break down. Wet AMD happens when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Things may not seem as bright as they once were.
Decreased ability to recognize faces.
One eye seems worse than the other.
Decreased ability to adapt to dimly lit rooms.
Straight lines appear crooked or wavy. This is a symptom of wet AMD.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition is diagnosed based on your symptoms and an eye exam. During the eye exam:
Eye drops will be placed in your eyes to enlarge (dilate) your pupils. This will allow your health care
provider to see the back of your eye better.
You may be asked to look at an image that looks like a checkerboard (Amsler grid). Early changes in
your central vision will cause the grid to look distorted.
You may be given a test called a fluorescein angiogram. In this test a dye is injected into a vein and
pictures are taken as the dye travels through the eye. This test shows if you have dry or wet AMD.
TREATMENT
There is no cure for this condition, but treatment can help slow down how fast it gets worse.
Treatment may include:
Taking vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, zinc, and antioxidants.

Allocation Rates And Its Effects On The Current Allocation...
allocation rates to make them more efficient. Second, policy makers could change allocations to
reflect more accurate precipitation rates along with being more efficient. Third, a market based system
could be implemented allowing for tradeable water rights much like the market system in Australia.
All of these policy options would solve the inefficiencies in the current allocation rates. They would
not solve the supply and demand complications due to the ongoing drought or growing populations.
The first option would simply change the allocation of water making it more efficient and removing
any potential deadweight loss that may otherwise exist. The second option would merely make
allocation rates more efficient by basing them off of more accurate precipitation amounts. The third,
would make it easier for water rights to be traded, leading to a more efficient outcome through trading
rather than mandating consumption amounts.
Method
To start with the first policy option an effort must take place to test the efficiency of current allocation
rates. In an attempt to do so, a simple model will be used to determine what an efficient allocation
would be. To further simplify the model, it will consist of only Upper and Lower basins, averaging
statistics taken from the states located within each basin. This simple model will allow variables to be
changed to help identify how they interact with the efficient allocation of water. To perform this
model, it is necessary to have a demand

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation was founded in 1863 when Mr. Henry Williams purchased Old Fort
Park and donated it to the city of Fort Wayne. Since then, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation has
continued to grow acquiring 85 more parks which include Reservoir Park in 1880, Foster Park golf
course in 1928, Fort Wayne s Children s Zoo in 1962, the Botanical Conservatory in 1979 and more

tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past summer 647
Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them. Because this
treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated the summer of
2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be treated again in
the summer of 2014. (City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Davey Resource group was the
lowest bidder and took on the project of treating the Ash trees. Davey Resource Group provides a full
range of natural resource and utility consulting services to the commercial, residential, municipal and
governmental markets. (Davey)
The question arose about the cost benefits of treating the tree versus cutting them down. It cost
approximately $43.00 to treat one tree versus the $400.00 to cut the tree down, grind the stump away,
and plant a new tree in its place. Even though many Ash trees have been saved by this treatment, it
was too late for some. So far 10,500 Ash trees have been cut down in the city of Fort Wayne because
they were attacked by the Ash Borer. This year another 2,447 will be cut down also. Mudrack Tree

If pictures are worth one million words then a 3 d picture which is a monument is worth one million
stories. The purpose of monuments is to tell a story about an events therefore crital thinking adn
efforts are placed into making monuments. Depending on where the monuemnt is located and how it

an example, inorder for placing something of sagnificant value, the holocaust, would be placed
somehwere of sagnifcant value, like a nations capital, but just anywhere in the nations capital.
Eventhough DC is the nations capital placeing the holocaust museum in a mall in DC is disrespectful
and offensive to the people who died and the servivers(source E). Just because its the national capital
doesnt mean a mall in the nations capital is appropreate, besides lives were lost, not material things
being bought. The failure for the creator(s) to think of that stripped the meaning and the pain behind
the holocuast away. The placement of that museum made fun of, or even mocked the holocuast as if it
is important to be remebered by America but not important to petray horrifying details of it. If the
placement of the museum was to be in central DC near the White House, it creates a more important
rule in Americas everyday life, because its near where the prisident lives, its near where people go to
live the American dream. It would reinforce the meaning of the tragidy, the menaing of being saought

Taking a Look at Bolivia
Bolivia is an amazing country, rich in culture, tourism, and history. Located in western central South
America, Bolivia is bordered by Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Peru, and Chile. Bolivia is divided into 3
very diverse regions, the Andean region, that s surrounded by mountain ranges and has the highest
altitude in Bolivia, the sub Andean region, that s distinguished by its farming activities, and the llanos
region, that s surrounded by rainforest and is very bio diverse. Although Bolivia has seen many great
advances over the last few years, poverty, political instability, and drug trafficking continue to be
issues that the country faces. In the next couple of paragraphs I m going to talk about poverty in
Bolivia, and how it has caused an epidemic of malnutrition children, I m then going to narrow the
topic down by talking about Bolivia s child mortality rates and healthcare system, and the problems
with healthcare access, I m going to talk about Bolivia s lack of access to food security and sanitation,
and lastly I m going to talk about the benefits that the popularity of the Bolivian crop quinoa has had
on Bolivian nutrition.
Bolivia history and poverty
Since the end of the Napoleonic wars and the establishment of Bolivia s independence from Spanish
rule in 1825, Bolivia has endured a violent and unstable past with close to 200 overthrows of the

How Did Art Influence Western Civilization
As previously mentioned in the Theme 1 under trade and commerce, the interactive map in Module 3
of the Aegean civilization shows how the Bronze Age brought about an exchanging of arts via trading
routes to the rest of the world. These arts were in the form of luxury goods such as painted pottery and
jewelry from the Greeks of Mycenaean, which traveled, to the Hittite Empires and Egypt. This trade
advanced art forms that helped to influence and shape local cultures throughout western civilization.
Fast forward and by the time of the Italian Renaissance, art is booming and influencing thoughts and
cultures all over the western world. During the Renaissance, a rebirth of creativity occurred and the
idea of humanism was born. Chapter 12 mentions

areas, about twenty percent of the people who contracted the virus were healthcare workers, such as
doctors, nurses, family doctors and specialist. The spreading of the virus seemed to follow its own

These hospitalized cases would than in turn enter the second stage of transmission. The health care

Abstract No one on earth can escape the sounds of noise an unwanted, disturbing sound that causes a
nuisance in the eye of the beholder. Noise is a disturbance to the human environment that is escalating
at such a high rate that it will become a major threat to the quality of human lives. In the past thirty
years, noise in all areas, especially in urban areas, have been increasing rapidly. There are numerous
effects on the human environment due to the increase in noise pollution. In the following paper, the
cause and effects of noise pollution will be presented in some detail. Slowly, insensibly, we seem to

This type of exposure to noise does not have to be as loud as a gun being fired; it can be as simple as a
person shouting across the room. The type of hearing loss is any degree from partial to complete
hearing loss. This loss, usually, is permanent and is not satisfactorily corrected by any devices such as,
hearing aids. The loss is caused by the destruction of the delicate hair cells and their auditory nerve
connections in the Organ of Corti, which is contained in the cochlea (Bugliarello, et al., 1976). Every
exposure to loud noise destroys some cells, but prolonged exposure damages a larger amount of cells,
and ultimately collapses the Organ of Corti, which causes deafness.
Most of society is now aware that noise can damage hearing. However, short of a threat that disaster
would overtake the human race if nothing is done about noise, it is unlikely that many people today
would become strongly motivated to do something about the problem. Yet, the evidence about the ill
effects of noise does not allow for complacency or neglect. For instance, researchers working with
children with hearing disorders are constantly reminded of the crucial importance of hearing to
children. In the early years the child cannot learn to speak without special training if he has enough
hearing loss to interfere effectively with the hearing of words in context

The Revolutionary War And The Declaration Of Independence
Decades following the Revolutionary War and the Declaration of Independence, America continued to
face challenges in their young country. Tensions with the British, as well as Native Americans, led to
more struggles for America. The British failed to recognize the United States of America as a separate
and free country, and by enlisting the help of frustrated Native Americans they continued to be a sore
within America. They believed they had rights to some parts of land in western Florida, they joined
forces with Native Americans when Americans decide to move westward, and worst of all they
continued to impress Americans onto British ships because of problems with trade.
Tensions with the British continued to rise and a factor for the War of 1812 was the problem with
British West Florida. The War Hawks, who were a group of men who had a strong hatred towards the
British, were irate with the British over territorial issues. Among these men were John C. Calhoun and
Henry Clay, who brimmed with the cocky belligerence of youth and were super nationalists (Conlin
217). These men were wanting to conquer Canada, and the idea of doing so was not implausible.
Great Britain had an army in Canada, but it had slowly been reduced and Americans thought it would
be a perfect time to try and conquer the land. However, America unfortunately was not able to conquer
the lands in Canada, and the land remained the property of the British.
There were also territorial issues with western

Term Investment Tactics That A Capital Market Analyst
Everything comes at an expense. The world revolves upon an axis of currency. Although this has an
immoral implication, it contributes to capital market analysts having a job. They are responsible for

Besides aiding them with stocks, a capital market analyst yields several presentations and

when to purchase and sell, they must assist them decide on what to capitalize in. There happen to be
various different long term investment tactics that a capital market analyst may practice. One strategy
they may exercise is investing in a stock and industry that their client comprehends. If the client has
no knowledge in the industry, it remains dangerous since they are not informed on what is happening
within the field. Another approach is to begin investing as early as possible; this allows the money to
have additional time to multiply. The other tactic is to diversify the investments. This safeguards
investors if one industry or the stock crashes; they ensure to not completely lose all of the money they
have invested. As of now, pharmaceuticals and 3D printing happen to be two industries that remain
appropriate for a long term investment. There are several explanations why the pharmaceutical
industry is a popular long investment industry amid capital market analysts.

Effects Of Imagination Inflation
Imagination Inflation
Although it may seem feasible for an individual to generate an inaccurate memory of an experienced
event based on misinformation, it may not seem feasible for an individual to create a complete false
memory of an event they have never experienced; however, research has shown that imagination can
be a powerful source of false memories. In the imagination inflation effect, performed actions versus
imagined actions are confused in hindsight. Humans also have the ability to imagine other people s
behavior. (Decety Grezes, 2006).
The typical imagination inflation paradigm occurs in three phases (Sharman, Manning, Gary, 2005).
During the first phase, participants complete a Life Events Inventory (LEI, Gary, Manning, Loftus,
Sherman, 1996) questionnaire suggesting the probability that they experienced certain events as a
child. The second phase is the imagining phase during which participants imagine how and when
some of the events could have transpired. The third phase involves completing a LEI questionnaire
again, and most of the time participants are informed that the original copies have been lost. This
paradigm demonstrates how participants can be manipulated into being confident and believing that
certain events occurred during their childhood, which causes them to create a false memory (Leding
2012). Other studies support the imagination inflation paradigm by validating that individual s
confidence increases because of imagining an event (Heaps

Africa By Mckay
Claude McKay s Africa is an English sonnet also known as a traditional literary poem. It starts with an
opening The sun sought thy dim bed and brought forth light . Referring to historical and scientific
debate on of the African origins of the nation. This can also be related to biblical terminology, dim
being Africa s unlighted knowledge prior to God s intervention and it also can be inferred that he is
referring to the rich melanin of descendants from Africa.
The next line, The sciences were sucklings at thy breasts, plays on theory of Africa being the Mother
Land or The Mecca .This is where essentially civilization begins, just like a mother having a child.
The mother is a natural nurturer and essentially Mckay tied in the correlation in the second line.

Africa was pimped by the new peoples as they admire Africa s beauty and wanted the same by any

One way the Federal Government can make healthcare more effective is to make it more affordable.
This can be accomplished by reintroducing the originally slated public option to the Affordable
Healthcare Act. The public option was originally included in the ACA and even passed the initial
House vote. However, it was later removed by the Senate Financial Committee and not included in the
final Senate bill that passed (citation needed). There are three reasons why the public option should to
be reintroduced into the health care system: to help control premium costs, increase marketplace
competition in rural areas and increase the quality and diversity of offered plans. Indeed, what is so
important about the national option is that it will naturally function as a benchmark , or price and care
baseline, within the current insurance exchange system mandated by the ACA (citation needed). By
virtue of currently existing systems such as Medicare, the public option will have access to superior
negotiating leverage that will help keep private competitive rates affordable. Indeed, according to the
Congressional Budget Office (CBO), administrative costs under the public Medicare plan are less than
2 percent of expenditures, compared with approximately 11 percent of spending by private plans
under Medicare Advantage (Nichols et al. 6). Furthermore, according to the Medicare Payment

Essay On Keynes Vs Hayek
Keynes vs Hayek The Commanding heights video takes us to the economic disaster that arose in the
aftermath of World War One. Following World War One two young economists emerged that hoped to
solve the world s economic troubles, John Meynard Keynes and Friederich Hayek. Each having a
completely different philosophy in the role of government in the economy. Keynes theorized that
heavy government influence was essential in the economy, and many of his principals were
implemented in Franklin Roosevelt s New Deal policy which helped pull America out of the Great
Depression. On the other hand Hayek insisted that the lesser of a role government played in
economics the better. He argued that socialist states cannot be successful because they lack a
functioning price system to send the signals to consumers and producers, thus inducing a chaos.
Keynes was a British economist who is credited for being the father of macroeconomics. The
foundation of Keynes theory relies on government playing a strong and fundamental role in the
economy. To be put simply Keynes theory is that the government can borrow money to spend on such
things like public works. By doing so the government would create jobs ... Show more content on

possess the ability to make rational decisions, wither to put a resource here, or buy a good there,
because there was no price system to weigh the alternatives. In summary Hayek believed that
government could make technical decisions, but not economic decisions. Less government
intervention meant for more economic freedom. In his theory when people were allowed the freedom

face with. The sun was beaming down and melting the tar in the empty parking lot. The shop was just
as still and frozen as the yogurt it sells. An employee teenage girl was laying down in the back with
her nose in a book and a mouth full of cheesecake yogurt. That employee was me. Like I said, I was

Ha ha wow you don t seem excited to be asking in return, but I m Teddy. It s not the only thing I m not
excited about at this point.
Well I think I should be cleaning the windows by myself, you are a customer.
I try to come off a bit confident but since that s not my forte I m sure it didn t.
Well you see here, you were struggling and I m from the south, where when we see a beautiful gal in
trouble you help her out.
He turned to look at me and grinned down making me suddenly feel cold despite the heat.
Why me? I tried to be a good worker and this is what I get? Are you kidding me?
We kept a silence for a few seconds before he perked up again.
So why isn t your boyfriend helping you with the windows? Hah oh my God did he really just that?
Did he really pull THAT line on me?
But what you see little Teddy here didn t know was my boyfriend ACTUALLY WAS at the theatre
working in the building next to me.
Because he is at his own job and I don t need his help with my job.
You know your kind of a scrappy girl, I like that.
I was shocked with how blunt he was. Thank Goodness we were done and could go inside. When we

conversation while I texted Jacob to come help me. Being a good boyfriend he rushes over in seconds.

The Development Process Of The New Testament Canon
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON
SUBMITTED TO DR. NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR
THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN
NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement to come from early church history
is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon. While we may not put much thought into it
today, which books should be included or excluded from the New Testament was once the center of
much controversy. It took the church many years to settle upon the current collection of books as
being the proper Canon, making it more of a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a
universal Canon was only realized after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian
heretic Marcion. Marcion s collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the
church through councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books
became part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of the
church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. The selection of books that were to be
included or excluded from the texts used by the church was the responsibility of each individual
church body, and thus varied greatly from location to location. Because there was no canon (books

God is good and it is difficult to believe in a good who...
Firstly, we must understand what is meant by good well good is that which is morally right. With God
it is said in the bible oh give thanks to the lord, for he is good; for His loving kindness is everlasting
(Psalms), another way is the 10 commandments which shows God setting the standard of what is
morally right and wrong. Another way of showing of how God is good is by creation in genesis 1 and
2 which shows God either creating the world or how he is crafting everything, also in the bible of how
God has preformed miracles and in todays society.
In the bible there are many passages, which say God is good for example in James every good thing

The goodness of God may be seen in the New Testament personality of Jesus. Some Christians would
say that the perfect goodness of God may be seen in Jesus, who of course suffers on the cross. This
raises the question Can the goodness of God be seen in the sufferings of Jesus? It is difficult to believe
in a God who is perfectly good.
Reasons for thinking it is
If God is perfectly good, does this mean that all the things God does are also good?
The issue stems from the Euthyphro dilemma, which states that either God is good by definition or
that God ascribes to a standard of goodness which is external to him.
This causes problems when one considers some of the things it is said that God does. Are the things
which God does good by definition? This would include wars and plagues. It also assumes that much
of what we call evil comes from God.
It is evil which is at the heart of the criticism here. It is incompatible to have God who is said to be all
powerful (omnipotent), all loving (omnibenevolent) and have a presence of evil in the world. The
choice is to deny that God is all powerful or to say that there is no such thing as evil or to cast doubt
on his omnibenevolence.
Reasons for thinking it is not
Many religious people would find it difficult to love and worship a God who did not have their best
interests at heart.
A number of modern who does what he can when he can, than to have a God who is not supreme
goodness.

Eliza Haywood Gender Inequality
Recently The Alantic published an article titled When Will the Gender Gap in Science Disappear? and
the answer to the question is in sixteen years and in hard sciences, like physics, that number
skyrockets to 258 years. This means it will take women another ten generations to publish at the same
rate as their male counterparts. Startling statistic like these force me to think about how a culture of
such inequality was created. The answer may lie in a close examination of how science was discussed
between males and females during the eighteenth century. The popular pastime of microscopic
viewing provides a space to see males and females engaged. The interactions that occurred around the
microscope typically had a male figure leading women through science and highlight gender
discrepancies in teaching and learning of natural philosophy. Eliza Haywood s The Female Spectator

What we consider the modern microscope can be traced back to Holland in the 1590s. Hans and
Zacharis Jensen, a father and son team of spectacles makers, are usually listed as the original
inventors. Their microscope was simple by today s standards; it included three sliding tubes with lens
at both ends that opened up to eighteen inches when fully extended. The magnification power was
generally considered to be about nine times. Even though the objects were magnified, they were
blurry. Croft, the author of Under the Microscope: A Brief History of Microscopy, explains that the
early devices had severe chromatic aberrations, which consist of color halos surrounding the object
making clear viewing problematic. Over the course of the 17th and 18th centuries vast improvements
occurred in the field of microscopy including magnification, size, and clarity. Microscopes were to
become more portable, and less expensive allowing them to become a instrument commonly found in

In Letter to Menoecceous, Epicurus outlines the view that life should be and is about maximizing ones
own pleasure. Epicurus importantly notes that pleasure is not necessarily one of a lavish lifestyle, but
where pain is absent in body and soul (Epicurus (1), p. 32). This overarching notion filters into his
ethical philosophies; in the way that one is and should be just while maintaining the aim of

Informative Speech On Human Trafficking
Dear ladies and gentlemen of the Human Services Committee,
My name is Brittany McClary and I am here on behalf of the Advocates for Victims of Human
Trafficking Non profit Organization. This organization is located here in Baltimore, Maryland, and
stands to combat human trafficking through prevention awareness, advocacy, and by assisting victims
with resources and services. First and foremost I d like to thank the committee for the honor to give
my testimony today and for considering human trafficking as an issue. I d also like to thank the
committee for inviting students as witnesses. I am here today as an advocate in support of bill S.178
Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015. I have been an advocate for victims within this
organization for the last 5 years ago. I was compelled to join when a dear friend of mine became a
victim after being deceived by a false job advertisement that promised more money and no previous
work experience. This one of the many recruitment tactics that traffickers use to lure victims. This for
a college student seemed like a dream, but for my friend it turned out to be a horrific nightmare that
she was lucky enough to escape and start the process of healing from. But for many victims they are
not able to do so.
The policy aims to protect victims of human trafficking by strengthening the services provided to
assist them. The bill includes many provisions that target specific issues within trafficking. One such

The Importance Of Kinship In Cultural Anthropology
Kingsborough Community College
Importance of Kinship in cultural anthropology
Student: Amulang Mantsynov
Professor: Igor Pashkovskiy
Kinship has traditionally been one of the key topics in social and cultural anthropology. There are two
primary reasons for this. First, although not all communities are constituted on the basis of kinship, all
humans have a kinship as individuals and are related to other individuals through it. Second, for the
sorts of tribal, classless, economically unspecialized societies that anthropologists have mostly though
no longer exclusively studied, kinship has appeared to be the main or even sole form of social
organization. These observations led various theoretical approaches, especially the schools of
functionalism and structuralism within social anthropology, to focusing on how social groups are
formed. They got interested in studying of how individuals are related to one another through kinship,
and what kinds of mutual rights and duties they have as a result. (R. Parkin. Kinship)
Parkin (2012) also points out that unlike the functionalists and structuralists, cultural anthropologists,
elected to focus more greatly on the symbolic rather than socio practical aspects of kinship. They are
interested in the meanings attached to being a particular sort of relative. They also study how symbols
of and perspectives on an individual, the body, and gender tell kinship ideas and practices. In broad
terms, a study of kingship from the symbolic standpoint has prevailed in America since the beginning
of the twentieth century and periodically has been reinvented and by the 1970s become more
influential in world anthropology, especially in its poststructuralist phase. The field of study of a
kinship can be divided into three major categories: descent (that is, relations between generations);
affinity (marriage); and siblingship. However, the siblingship hasn t been studied as widely as the first
two categories. (R. Parkin. Kinship).
By the definition provided in the New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, kinship is a relation between
two or more persons that is based on common ancestry (descent) or marriage (affinity). In his work

Residential Schools Case Study
The Reality of Residential Schools
The Indian Act of 1876 placed restrictions on the education of Aboriginal children, which ultimately
devastated the First Nation culture (Florence 37). The Canadian Government saw relations with
Aboriginal people as the Indian Problem and they wanted to get rid of the First Nation people s
culture, identity and individual nations. In the 1880s the Government began to establish and operate a
system of residential schools which were a central element to their policy. The intent was the
assimilation of Aboriginal children into the working classes of Euro Canadian culture. The children
were forced to attend the schools and were segregated from the influence of their family, community,
and culture. Between 1882 and 1969, residential schools operated in Canada through arrangements
between the Government of Canada and the Roman Catholic, Angelicin, Methodist, United and
Presbyterian churches (Stonefish 16). Around 100,000 Aboriginal children between the age of 6 to 16
attended one of the 100 schools at its peak in 1957. Residential schools devastated First Nations
culture because they exposed them to all forms of abuse and stripped them of their language and
family.
Traditional language has helped shape the Indigenous culture in Canada for thousands of years.
Unfortunately, preserving the traditional languages has been seriously jeopardized in the past 150. As
Watson Foundry states, languages in Canada s Aboriginal communities have been on a

Charley Patton is known as the father of the delta Blue. His official year of birth is unknown but is
speculated to be between 1887, 1891. He wasn t born in the Mississippi Delta however, his family

family moved to the Dockery Plantation which was renowned for its favorable treatment of it
sharecroppers and lenience on the musical indulgences of its residents. At the Dockery Plantation,
Patton and other gave birth to the Delta Blues. He learned from a man named Henry Sloan who played
what is viewed as an early Blues style. He influenced many other artists at the Dockery plantation
including younger protégé s like Robert Johnson and Howling Wolf. Although Patton as of diminutive
stature, he had a gritty, growly voice of a much bigger man which is said to have influenced the
distinctive raspy voice of Wolf.
The moniker Muddy Waters was given to him by his grandmother who was observed that he loved

  • 2. The Technological Evolution Of The Media Industry The technological evolution has played an inevitable and indispensable role in changing the facade of the world. In particular, recent developments and innovations in the field of science and technology have transformed the entire paradigm of media industry. It has been established that in the contemporary or technology driven media environment, the traditional concept of ownership, intellectual property, as well as copyright has become a controversial point (Sutherland Smith, 2015). It is due to the fact that the technological advancements have created such practices that have completely redefined the ways in which media was being consumed by the audiences. Most importantly, the contemporary media practices have also played a major role ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High tech media tools and platforms have superficially changed the way in which people used to consume media. It has been established that the recent technological advancements have played a significant role in building entirely new and unique media environment. In accordance with the views of Bird (2011), the new current contemporary age of information and technology has substantially enabled the individuals to actively contribute and consume the media sources. It is significant to bring into the notice that such practices were impractical to be attained by the consumers, in the past years. Before the emergence of internet as well as web 2.0 technologies, the communication, distribution, and creation of ideas was generally aided by the corporate middlemen . It is due to the fact that it was quite difficult and impossible (to some extent) for the average person to coordinate in a free and independent manner. However, the evolution and development of contemporary and higher innovative web applications had changed the entire facade of the media consumption trends. In this account, it has been assessed that the web based applications and state of the art technologies have completely democratised this process (Muir, 2013). It is because; by using these technologies, the users can easily participate in the consumption of media through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Anthropology and Its Branches Anthropology is the study of human beings, in particular the study of their physical character, evolutionary history, racial classification, historical and present day geographic distribution, group relationships, and cultural history. Anthropology can be characterized as the naturalistic description and interpretation of the diverse peoples of the world. Modern day anthropology consists of two major divisions: cultural anthropology, which deals with the study of human culture in all its aspects; and physical anthropology, which is the study of human physical character, in both the past and present. Biological Anthropology Biological anthropology, also known as physical anthropology, deals with tracing the biological origins, evolutionary changes, and the genetic diversity of the human species. In the process, biological anthropologists study primate behavior, and anatomical variations between primates and human beings in order to understand physical changes that have taken place in humans during their evolutionary journey from apes. They may also take up genetic analysis and anthropometric studies to find reasons behind the physical differences between people of various groups. Besides these major branches, anthropology also has other divisions like forensic anthropology, medical anthropology, and ecological anthropology. Although each branch is a specialized field of study, they are inter related. This gives anthropologists an edge over researchers from other fields in addressing human problems, as they study human existence not in isolation but in totality. Evolution Of Man What is it? The modern theory concerning the evolution of man proposes that humans and apes derive from an apelike ancestor that lived on earth a few million years ago. The theory states that man, ... • 4. Martin Luther Letter From Birmingham Jail Letter from Birmingham Jail is an open letter that Martin Luther wrote expressing his feelings about the racial injustice during his time period. He was put in jail when he wrote this letter for peacefully protesting for justice for African Americans. Dr. Luther writes about what he did and why he did the things he did. In his letter he doesn t just focus his bias opinion on the African American culture and the horrific treatment that they have been given from the whites. No, his letter gives you an insight on a wide variety of perspectives of people about his feelings towards justice. He references many historical theologians and biblical characters who would have done just as he has done. This letter was widely used during the American Civil Rights Movement during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Luther has said in his letter was very persuasive to me. Dr. Luther was a very intelligent man that was shown throughout the letter based on the words that he chose and the power that was amplified. I love how he is not asking for revenge or sorrow of the things he has done but rather he is expressing his thoughts and feelings through a calm and peaceful manner. He mentions how he was called an extremist and at first and how he was offended but then later he took pride in that name. Dr. Luther references how in the bible Jesus was an extremist for love and glory from God. He also says that we are all extremist in one way or another. I have never heard that phrase in a positive way before. This is my favorite part of his letter he says, the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be. Will we be extremists for hate or for love? Will we be extremists for the preservation of injustice or for the extension of justice? Again this shows the level of commitment that he has for this cause that he his willing to write in this radical type of thinking and publish it for the civil rights ... • 8. Allocation Rates And Its Effects On The Current Allocation... allocation rates to make them more efficient. Second, policy makers could change allocations to reflect more accurate precipitation rates along with being more efficient. Third, a market based system could be implemented allowing for tradeable water rights much like the market system in Australia. All of these policy options would solve the inefficiencies in the current allocation rates. They would not solve the supply and demand complications due to the ongoing drought or growing populations. The first option would simply change the allocation of water making it more efficient and removing any potential deadweight loss that may otherwise exist. The second option would merely make allocation rates more efficient by basing them off of more accurate precipitation amounts. The third, would make it easier for water rights to be traded, leading to a more efficient outcome through trading rather than mandating consumption amounts. Method To start with the first policy option an effort must take place to test the efficiency of current allocation rates. In an attempt to do so, a simple model will be used to determine what an efficient allocation would be. To further simplify the model, it will consist of only Upper and Lower basins, averaging statistics taken from the states located within each basin. This simple model will allow variables to be changed to help identify how they interact with the efficient allocation of water. To perform this model, it is necessary to have a demand ... (City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation organization budgeted for and planned a way to help save this tree species. For the past couple years, biannual Ash tree treatments have been in place to help save the Ash trees of Fort Wayne. This past summer 647 Ash trees in Fort Wayne were treated to prevent the Ash Borer from killing them. Because this treatment is a biannual treatment, only half of the population of Ash trees was treated the summer of 2013. The other half of the population was treated the previous summer and will be treated again in the summer of 2014. (City of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, 2013) Davey Resource group was the lowest bidder and took on the project of treating the Ash trees. Davey Resource Group provides a full range of natural resource and utility consulting services to the commercial, residential, municipal and governmental markets. (Davey) The question arose about the cost benefits of treating the tree versus cutting them down. It cost approximately $43.00 to treat one tree versus the $400.00 to cut the tree down, grind the stump away, and plant a new tree in its place. Even though many Ash trees have been saved by this treatment, it was too late for some. So far 10,500 Ash trees have been cut down in the city of Fort Wayne because they were attacked by the Ash Borer. This year another 2,447 will be cut down also. Mudrack Tree Experts have ... In the past thirty years, noise in all areas, especially in urban areas, have been increasing rapidly. There are numerous effects on the human environment due to the increase in noise pollution. The type of hearing loss is any degree from partial to complete hearing loss. This loss, usually, is permanent and is not satisfactorily corrected by any devices such as, hearing aids. The loss is caused by the destruction of the delicate hair cells and their auditory nerve connections in the Organ of Corti, which is contained in the cochlea (Bugliarello, et al., 1976). Every exposure to loud noise destroys some cells, but prolonged exposure damages a larger amount of cells, and ultimately collapses the Organ of Corti, which causes deafness. Most of society is now aware that noise can damage hearing. However, short of a threat that disaster would overtake the human race if nothing is done about noise, it is unlikely that many people today would become strongly motivated to do something about the problem. Yet, the evidence about the ill effects of noise does not allow for complacency or neglect. For instance, researchers working with children with hearing disorders are constantly reminded of the crucial importance of hearing to children. The Revolutionary War And The Declaration Of Independence Decades following the Revolutionary War and the Declaration of Independence, America continued to face challenges in their young country. Tensions with the British, as well as Native Americans, led to more struggles for America. The British failed to recognize the United States of America as a separate and free country, and by enlisting the help of frustrated Native Americans they continued to be a sore within America. They believed they had rights to some parts of land in western Florida, they joined forces with Native Americans when Americans decide to move westward, and worst of all they continued to impress Americans onto British ships because of problems with trade. Tensions with the British continued to rise and a factor for the War of 1812 was the problem with British West Florida. The War Hawks, who were a group of men who had a strong hatred towards the British, were irate with the British over territorial issues. Among these men were John C. These men were wanting to conquer Canada, and the idea of doing so was not implausible. Great Britain had an army in Canada, but it had slowly been reduced and Americans thought it would be a perfect time to try and conquer the land. Effects Of Imagination Inflation Imagination Inflation Although it may seem feasible for an individual to generate an inaccurate memory of an experienced event based on misinformation, it may not seem feasible for an individual to create a complete false memory of an event they have never experienced; however, research has shown that imagination can be a powerful source of false memories. In the imagination inflation effect, performed actions versus imagined actions are confused in hindsight. Humans also have the ability to imagine other people s behavior. (Decety Grezes, 2006). The typical imagination inflation paradigm occurs in three phases (Sharman, Manning, Gary, 2005). During the first phase, participants complete a Life Events Inventory (LEI, Gary, Manning, Loftus, Sherman, 1996) questionnaire suggesting the probability that they experienced certain events as a child. The second phase is the imagining phase during which participants imagine how and when some of the events could have transpired. The third phase involves completing a LEI questionnaire again, and most of the time participants are informed that the original copies have been lost. This paradigm demonstrates how participants can be manipulated into being confident and believing that certain events occurred during their childhood, which causes them to create a false memory (Leding 2012). Other studies support the imagination inflation paradigm by validating that individual s confidence increases because of imagining an event (Heaps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are three reasons why the public option should to be reintroduced into the health care system: to help control premium costs, increase marketplace competition in rural areas and increase the quality and diversity of offered plans. Indeed, what is so important about the national option is that it will naturally function as a benchmark , or price and care baseline, within the current insurance exchange system mandated by the ACA (citation needed). By virtue of currently existing systems such as Medicare, the public option will have access to superior negotiating leverage that will help keep private competitive rates affordable. Following World War One two young economists emerged that hoped to solve the world s economic troubles, John Meynard Keynes and Friederich Hayek. Each having a completely different philosophy in the role of government in the economy. Keynes theorized that heavy government influence was essential in the economy, and many of his principals were implemented in Franklin Roosevelt s New Deal policy which helped pull America out of the Great Depression. On the other hand Hayek insisted that the lesser of a role government played in economics the better. He argued that socialist states cannot be successful because they lack a functioning price system to send the signals to consumers and producers, thus inducing a chaos. Keynes was a British economist who is credited for being the father of macroeconomics. The foundation of Keynes theory relies on government playing a strong and fundamental role in the economy. NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement to come from early church history is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon. While we may not put much thought into it today, which books should be included or excluded from the New Testament was once the center of much controversy. It took the church many years to settle upon the current collection of books as being the proper Canon, making it more of a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a universal Canon was only realized after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian heretic Marcion. Marcion s collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the church through councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books became part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of the church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. The selection of books that were to be included or excluded from the texts used by the church was the responsibility of each individual church body, and thus varied greatly from location to location. Reasons for thinking it is If God is perfectly good, does this mean that all the things God does are also good? • 34. Informative Speech On Human Trafficking Dear ladies and gentlemen of the Human Services Committee, My name is Brittany McClary and I am here on behalf of the Advocates for Victims of Human Trafficking Non profit Organization. This organization is located here in Baltimore, Maryland, and stands to combat human trafficking through prevention awareness, advocacy, and by assisting victims with resources and services. First and foremost I d like to thank the committee for the honor to give my testimony today and for considering human trafficking as an issue. I d also like to thank the committee for inviting students as witnesses. I am here today as an advocate in support of bill S.178 Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act of 2015. I have been an advocate for victims within this organization for the last 5 years ago. I was compelled to join when a dear friend of mine became a victim after being deceived by a false job advertisement that promised more money and no previous work experience. This one of the many recruitment tactics that traffickers use to lure victims. This for a college student seemed like a dream, but for my friend it turned out to be a horrific nightmare that she was lucky enough to escape and start the process of healing from. But for many victims they are not able to do so. The policy aims to protect victims of human trafficking by strengthening the services provided to assist them. The bill includes many provisions that target specific issues within trafficking. One such is a policy change ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Importance Of Kinship In Cultural Anthropology Kingsborough Community College Importance of Kinship in cultural anthropology Student: Amulang Mantsynov Professor: Igor Pashkovskiy Kinship has traditionally been one of the key topics in social and cultural anthropology. There are two primary reasons for this. First, although not all communities are constituted on the basis of kinship, all humans have a kinship as individuals and are related to other individuals through it. Second, for the sorts of tribal, classless, economically unspecialized societies that anthropologists have mostly though no longer exclusively studied, kinship has appeared to be the main or even sole form of social organization. These observations led various theoretical approaches, especially the schools of functionalism and structuralism within social anthropology, to focusing on how social groups are formed. They got interested in studying of how individuals are related to one another through kinship, and what kinds of mutual rights and duties they have as a result. (R. Parkin. Kinship) Parkin (2012) also points out that unlike the functionalists and structuralists, cultural anthropologists, elected to focus more greatly on the symbolic rather than socio practical aspects of kinship. They are interested in the meanings attached to being a particular sort of relative. They also study how symbols of and perspectives on an individual, the body, and gender tell kinship ideas and practices. In broad terms, a study of kingship from the symbolic standpoint has prevailed in America since the beginning of the twentieth century and periodically has been reinvented and by the 1970s become more influential in world anthropology, especially in its poststructuralist phase. The field of study of a kinship can be divided into three major categories: descent (that is, relations between generations); affinity (marriage); and siblingship. However, the siblingship hasn t been studied as widely as the first two categories. (R. Parkin. Kinship). By the definition provided in the New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, kinship is a relation between two or more persons that is based on common ancestry (descent) or marriage (affinity). • 36. Residential Schools Case Study The Reality of Residential Schools The Indian Act of 1876 placed restrictions on the education of Aboriginal children, which ultimately devastated the First Nation culture (Florence 37). The Canadian Government saw relations with Aboriginal people as the Indian Problem and they wanted to get rid of the First Nation people s culture, identity and individual nations. In the 1880s the Government began to establish and operate a system of residential schools which were a central element to their policy. The intent was the assimilation of Aboriginal children into the working classes of Euro Canadian culture. The children were forced to attend the schools and were segregated from the influence of their family, community, and culture. Between 1882 and 1969, residential schools operated in Canada through arrangements between the Government of Canada and the Roman Catholic, Angelicin, Methodist, United and Presbyterian churches (Stonefish 16). Around 100,000 Aboriginal children between the age of 6 to 16 attended one of the 100 schools at its peak in 1957. Residential schools devastated First Nations culture because they exposed them to all forms of abuse and stripped them of their language and family. Traditional language has helped shape the Indigenous culture in Canada for thousands of years. Unfortunately, preserving the traditional languages has been seriously jeopardized in the past 150. As Watson Foundry states, languages in Canada s Aboriginal communities have been on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
