Doctor Faustus Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Doctor Faustus" can prove to be a challenging endeavor,
demanding a nuanced understanding of Christopher Marlowe's play and the complex themes it
explores. The narrative intricacies, rich symbolism, and philosophical inquiries embedded in the
text necessitate a thorough analysis.
To create a compelling essay, one must delve into the character of Faustus, examining his tragic
flaw and the consequences of his choices. Additionally, the play's historical context, religious
undertones, and the Faustian bargain theme require careful consideration. Balancing textual
evidence with critical interpretation adds another layer of difficulty, as one must navigate
through various scholarly perspectives to construct a well-supported argument.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding a mere summary and instead engaging in a thoughtful
exploration of the play's deeper meanings. Crafting a thesis that encapsulates the essence of one's
interpretation while remaining coherent and persuasive requires a keen analytical eye.
While the difficulty of the task may be daunting, it also presents an opportunity for intellectual
growth and a deeper appreciation of literature. The key is to approach the essay with patience,
dedication, and a genuine passion for unraveling the complexities within "Doctor Faustus."

The Media Of New Digital Media
In the age of new digital media, it has become all the easier for consumers to be
able to share their media online, on various different sites. Whether that is audio,
video, or images, there are a whole host of different platforms in which users can
upload their content on to and, in turn, can interact with other uses that have the
same interests. In this report I will be looking at different social media sites, all
with a different media demographic and discuss the advantages and drawbacks of
each site in regards to the consumer, and whether they are the best sites to use in
their own respective media areas. 2)a)Spotify Spotify is a commercial streaming

every song in existence by any artist, album, genre, or record label. It is one of the
leading sites for streaming music, and it allows users to be able to stream music to
their, computer, mobile or tablet devices wherever they are in the world. This
form of digital media allows users to effectively have access to as many albums as
they want, as opposed to going out and buying physical CD s, and it is also a way
for users to listen to music legally, as opposed to previously using other illegal

Analyze The Changes Of The Renaissance Dbq
The Renaissance was a rebirth of Europe during the 1400s. It was a time period that
came after the Middle Ages, and people started thinking differently than how they
were thinking during the Middle Ages. The Bubonic Plague made many people
question their lives and also the churches and their religions which were a big part of
life during the Middle Ages. Instead, during the Renaissancemany ideas were taken
from the ancient Greeks and Romans, the laws on paintings became much more
relaxed leading too many artists creating detailed paintings, the printing press was
created which made the creation of books faster and increased quantity, and people
became more educated in history, reading and writing. Many of these changes such as

One of these changes was the creation of the printing press. The printing press
allowed for the creation of books to be much quicker and for the quantity of books
to be much larger. In document 2 it says, Now a copy of 180 copies of the bible
could be made in 2 years. This shows how over the span of 2 years a lot of bibles
could be made for more people to read. Another change during the Renaissance is
the increase of education during the Renaissance. In document 3 it says, Instead of
being stuck as a peasant on a manor, people moved to cities and learned to become
skilled workers for guilds. This shows one of the effects that education had on the
Renaissance which allowed people to do something else in their lives other than
being stuck inside a manor. Yet another change during the Renaissance is the
increased interest in Medicine and Science. This was important not only for
understanding the body but also to understand diseases. In document 5 it says, In the
Renaissance, people started to learn where the plague came from and how the
human body worked. This shows how the knowledge on the human body led people
to learn about the plague which was a huge issue during the Middle

Essay On The Greatest Presidents
Presidents day is not only a day of no school and savings it is also a day to reflect
on the leaders of our nation throughout its history. This brings to light the question
Who have been the greatest presidents of the U.S.? . When I reflected on this I
came to the realization that there is no correct answer. There have been many great
presidents in their own right from Washington our first president, the setter of many
precedents, the one who every presidents strives to be like.To Lincoln our 16th
president the one who saw the division of the nation and then brought it back
together and to many the great liberator of the slaves. And now in my mind I ve

his economic programs and innovations, at the end of his presidency it dropped to

economic programs disadvantaged the poor which were a majority Black and Latino.
However, during Reagan presidency 16 million new jobs were created (human

best presidents economically.
Reagan was president during a time of doubt and uncertainty. During his presidency
he saw the most of the cold war and a rise of international terrorism. Reagan adopted
a Peace Through Strength philosophy. Reagan increased defense spending by 40%
during his presidency and human events concluded that the free flow of oil during the

Responsibility In An Inspector Calls By J. B. Priestley
In An Inspector calls, there are many themes discussed but the main theme is
responsibility. The author, J.B Priestley aim was to make an audience aware that
no one can live in a society without being responsible for other who lives in the
same society. We all live in one community and we are all responsible for each
other, our action does affect the people s life around us. Firstly, throughout the
text, there are many ways to presents the theme of responsibility and one of them is
the different views of society presented by Mr. Birling and the Inspector. The
Inspector tells Mr. Birling We are responsible for each other. And I tell you the
time will come soon when, if men will not learn that lesson, then they will be
taught it in fire and blood and anguish. (pg 56) He tells what could happen if some
members in the family ignore their responsibility. Birling tells his family that A man
has to make his own way has to look after himself. (pg 9) In using phrases such as

out of the five with a negative effect on Eva smith s life. I don t suppose I d have
done it. But she was very pretty and looked as if she could take care of herself. I
couldn t be sorry for her. (pg 24) In this time, this can be seen that Sheila was very
responsible for what she had done to Eva smith as she is the reason for that girl to
get rid from Milwards because of her jealousy towards her. Through words such as
Sorry for her , she is very guilty for what she did. The fact that there are members in
the family who knows their responsibility shows that in this society, the author is
telling us that they are people who also care for those that they had affected in their
lives. Through this, it has also show the mature, honest and truthful side of Sheila
Art and History Displayed at the Pompeii Exhibition at
LACMA
The Pompeii exhibition at LACMA was an astounding visualization of history. The
exhibition provided all sorts of objects; from sculptures, glass figures, painted art,
and more. These art pieces specify the kind of life that was taking place in the Bay
of Naples during the second century. As we know the cities around the Bay of Naples,
which include Pompeiiand Herculaneum, became tourist attractions when the cities
were excavated after they were buried from the volcanic eruption of Mount
Vesuvius. However, the comprehension of how the art pieces made their way into
the museum is just a little fact of the history behind them. With this exhibition we

Then we view the sculptures of the Boar and Hunting Dogs which were originally
in the garden of a home in a city in the Bay of Naples. We also view the large fresco
of the Garden Scene (see Fig. 2), which feels like a time warp back in time to
Pompeii. The Garden Scene displays the beauty of nature with the various plants
and birds present, and the two heads hanging on posts seem to be looking out to
the viewer and protecting the garden. After the garden pieces we then are
welcomed to the indoors of the Bay of Naples homes. The presentations of glass
objects as well as pieces of furniture are the next stop in the exhibition. We view a
couple of lamps which have exquisite detail. The Lamp Bearing Youth (see Fig. 3)
which was utilized as a home decoration seems to be more of an artifact. A young
and fit man, presumably Apollo, stands in the now prominent cross balance
posture. We then see objects such as the two Table Supporters and the Four Flasks.
The two table supporters are very intricate objects, for they portray an almost
devilish animal with a lion s leg. On the other hand, the four flasks express the
beauty of glass blowing with the exquisite colors and movements of lines. At the
end of this room we are taken to The Moregine Triclinium which is a beautiful room
with an empowering color of red. The room has what seems to be the second
Apple s Use Of Social Media
Question 4:
Apple s use of social media:
Apple s Presence on social media can be somewhat argued as non existent. Looking
at social networking sites we can see that this is evident. They do have a Facebook
page but they are relaxed in their response to the public complaints and comments.
They have a Twitter handle, @Apple, but it never posts nor does it have a profile
picture yet it still has 37 thousand followers.
Although Apple as a whole doesn t engage on social networking as we can see,
they do have account for their various departments and apps, such as,
@AppleSupport and Apple Music on Facebook. Apple doesn t engage with the
public on social networking sites concerning issues related to the current Apple vs
FBI case. The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, has a twitter handle but also doesn t
comment or tweet on any issues.
Observing other social media, Apple is quite active on Content Communities. Apple
has a YouTube channels where they post videos about their products, users can then
comment on the video and give feedback to Apple.

Political Climate of the 1970s Paper
The 1970s for the United States of America was a time of recession, war and a world
famous government scandal. The war in Vietnam left the people of the nation in
disarray and turmoil. The government took a great deal of abuse from the people with
the decisions made during the Vietnam War. President Nixon attempted different
strategies than used before to end the VietnamWar with little success. The public s
image of the government was distorted when the Watergate Scandal was made public
and Richard Nixonwas the first president to resign in U.S. history. The 1970s was a
challenging time for the people of the nation and the faith the country had in the
government diminished. By the end of the Vietnam War the social outcome of the

The people saw how dirty the politicians can be and lost a great deal of respect for
the government. The Watergate Scandal displayed criminal acts which involved
the President and high ranking officials. The after effects showed the balance shift
from the Republican to the Democratic Party with the voters. Most of the voters
were disgusted with Nixon s actions and leaned to the Democratic Party for
restructuring. The Watergate Scandal also led to the people blaming the
government of other issues like inflation, recession and energy cost. The story of
Watergate is a complex and deep one full of intrigue and back room deals, public
politics and personal motivations (Evans, 2002). The people of the nation
witnessed President Nixon abuse the power of presidency and his actions plague
the political practices to this day. In conclusion, the 1970s were a time in history
that will be remembered for many years to come. The Vietnam War was full of
controversy and frustrated the American pride the country obtained after World War
II. The colleges in the U.S. were a popular location for anti war protestors and even
resulted in the death of several students. The draft was in full effect and created draft
dodgers which mostly fled to Canada to escape the war. Many Americans felt our
military should not have even been in Vietnam, but the government feared the

Leadership Theories And Theories Of Leadership Essay
For decade s individuals, companies, and organizations have spent an unprecedented
amount of money on researching, molding, modeling and working to define what a
leader is and what characteristics make successful leaders. With all the research,
there is not a quick answer or even full agreement as to what makes an individual an
effective leader. The definition of a leader is someone who can influence others and
who has managerial authority. (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2015. P.370)
Research on management and leadership in organizations over the past century shows
there are still no clear definitions or answers about what counts as effective and
successful leadership; the field remains varied and argued. Actual studies of
leadership began in the twentieth century. The early studies of leadership theories
focused on the person and their behaviors, currently known as leadership trait theories
and behavioral theories.
Trait theories of Leadership Trait theories of leadership defined as theories that
isolate characteristics (traits) that differentiate leaders from nonleaders. (Robbins, et
al., 2015. P.338) Research on leadership began with a search for inherited
characteristics that differentiated leaders from nonleaders and explained individuals
effectiveness as leaders. Early research dating back to the twentieth century was the
beginning of the trait paradigm of leadership research. Researchers have not been able
to definitively state that traits alone define
Doing Business in Saudi Arabia Essay
International Business
Saudi Arabia s Dynamic Culture
Introduction The American way of business differs from many other countries
across the world. Each company has their own set of tactics that they use to close
big deals. Businesses from Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, tend to do things a bit
differently. They take pride in getting to know the individuals from the other
company before even disclosing any information to them. Meetings sometimes take
place in less than formal locations such as coffee shops and cafes. The religious and
social differences between the United States and Saudi Arabia make it challenging for
Americans, unaware of the way of Saudi life, to do business there. They may

(Martinez Carter). When doing business internationally, it is important to consider
how businesses operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own,
businesses tend to be deal focused where people are more task oriented.
Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S. communication style because
the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi Arabia, on
the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with
friends ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family
centered society where trust of others is highly correlated with the degree of
familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for businesses here to take a
long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is important
when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a
bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). The relationship focus businesses will not be so
quick to conduct a business deal. They would rather take the time and learn about the
business and individuals they are dealing with.
The deal focused businesses like to get right to business with as little time wasting
as possible. It can not be determined that one is better than the other. However it is
more reasonable to follow what your culture defines as more common. The Saudi
way of life is based around religion and family. There are
The Mother-Daughter Relationship In Amy Tan s The Violin
Every mother daughter relationship differs, whether it is a happy or terrifyingly,
angry relationship. This is shown in Amy Chua s excerpt from The Violin in the
memoir Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom and Amy Tan s excerpt from Jing Mei
Woo: Two Kinds in the novel The Joy Luck Club. Chua writes with a more calm
yet irritable tone, while Tan on the other hand is more aggressive and belligerent.
First off, in The Violin , Amy Chua shows an irritable tone in the relationship with
her daughter. Chua stated, ... my presence made her edgy and irritable , which
clearly shows that their relationship was not always the most comfortable to be a
part of (Chua 47 48). Chua s daughter, Lulu, felt like she was always being criticized
by her motherwhen playing the violin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The irritable tone in Chua s excerpt could have been recognized as already
aggressive in another person s opinion; however, the mother daughter relationship
in Tan s novel seemed much more violent. Aggression was shown when Tan wrote,
... yanked me by the arm and pulled me off the floor. She was frighteningly strong,
half pulling, half carrying me towards the piano... (Tan 141 142). Using great
imagery in that line, Tan made it incredibly easy for readers to see in their minds
the amount of anger that was running through the mother s head and the fear of the
daughter. When the daughter said, You want me to be something that I m not! , it
was referring to her not wanting to play the piano. (Tan 141 142). Her mother is
one of those parents who have a dream in mind for their children before they are
even born instead of supporting the child s own dream. As if it could not get any
more bitter, words of hatred were exchanged between one another such as, ...I wish
you weren t my mother, (Tan 141 142). The readers could only imagine the menacing
tone in the daughter s voice when this was
Pit Bull Liability Research
Pit bulls are a breed of dog that are notoriously labeled as being dangerous and as
having a propensity to attack without warning. Statistics gathered from 2005 through
2015 found that Pit bulls accounted for 64.4 percent, or 232, of the 360 deaths of
Americans suffered due to dog bite injuries, while only making up about 6.6 percent
of the total U.S. dogpopulation. Due to these statistics, there are many who defend
enacting statutes that specifically point to incidents involving these dogs needing
strict liability to protect third parties.
The Maryland Court of Appeals, for example, held in Tracey v. Solesky (2012) that
owners and landlords are liable for injuries caused by pit bulls and cross bred pit bull
mixes, describing them as inherently dangerous. The judgment of this court ruling
meant that it was no longer necessary to prove that a pit bull who attacks a person
or that pit bulls in general are dangerous; all pit bull owners are automatically held
to a strict liability standard under Maryland law. This case established a new standard
of liability for a specific breed of dog due to what some would argue is their
aggressive and vicious nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, even if the owner of a wild animal takes significant measures to protect
others from being harmed by their pet, they are still held responsible for any
injuries that do occur. This is due to the fact that wild animals cannot be tamed and
it is assumed that all wild animals naturally have vicious tendencies. Strict liability
laws in regards to possessors of wild animals exist because these kinds of animals
are more dangerous than domestic animals are. A tiger that lives in an individual s
house brings a higher degree of risk than, for example, a house cat would

Chapter I
1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION
1 1 Overview of human blood groups
The term blood group is usually restricted to blood cell surface antigens, and
generally to red cell surface antigens. These antigens are molecules present on the red
blood cells membrane, which can trigger an immune response if they are foreign to
the body.
Landsteiner and his colleagues (1, 2), discovered the first blood group system (ABO)
in 1901, they observed that plasma from some individuals agglutinated the red cells
from others.
For the next 45 years, only those antibodies that directly agglutinate could be studied.
With the development of the antiglobulin test by Coombs, Mourant, and Race in
1945 (3, 4), the non agglutinating antibodies could be detected, ... Show more content

Levine and Stetson identified an alloantibody in the mother serum, which react at
room temperature and 37 c with husband RBCs and with 80% of Caucasians RBCs.
They postulated that this antibody had produced against a specific factor in both
fetus and father RBCs that the mother lack. Levine and his colleague suggested that
antibody had developed during the mother pregnancy after her exposure to a foreign
factor from her fetus.
A year later Landsteiner and Wiener (7), discovered an antibody in the rabbits and
guinea pigs sera after being injected with rhesus Macacus monkeys RBCs, they
noticed that the antibody agglutinate with 85% of human RBCs. This antibody
named Rh after Rhesus monkeys. Other study carried by Levine and others (8),
demonstrate that Rh antibody which was described by Landsteiner and Wiener has
the same specificities of the former antibody which was discovered in 1939, and they
thought it was belong to the same blood group. Years later, many investigations
showed that it was not the case, and each of the two antibodies belong to a different
blood group. However, anti Rh name retained to the human produced antibody, and
the other antibody renamed anti LW in

As the senior class this year, our class decided to bug the junior highers by forming
BUG groups. BUG, standing for Buddies Under God , was designed with the
purpose of leading the junior highers by example. The world and those who don t
have a saving knowledge of Christ, look at the Church. The impression they
should see is one that results from following Christ s example. They should see
people who are full of the love of Christ. As leaders everyone should lead by example,
but the example that you use must be based on the Bible. It is foolish to believe
that people will want to do what they are told to do unless the leader is willing to do
what he has asked of his followers.
In addition to, and perhaps even more important than, leading by example is
leading through serving. Servant leadership at first thought sounds like an
oxymoron. Popular opinion believes that the leader is supposed to have people
who serve him. But if we are to follow Christ s example we must first serve. Quite
possibly the most perfect example of servant leadership is the well known story of
Jesus washing his disciple s feet. The disciples were appalled that Christ would do
such a thing for them because it was a servant s job and Christ was their leader. But
because He washed their feet I am willing to bet that the disciple s respect for Jesus
increased greatly. At the first retreat of the year our class went up a day early for a

leases) for the academic school year by signing a contract with their local Best

much is required a month, and if need be a down payment. I think that this will
generate a positive response from the public seeing as now more students will be
able to handle college with the necessary technology. This is a brand extension
because Best Buy currently does not partake in leasing so it will be a new sector
for the company to generate income from. The target market is college students
who need to purchase electronics for school. Seeing as how nowadays most
students rely on their laptops for notes, important documents, and typing papers, the
market is only going to grow in the future. Some professors even require students to
take tests and submit homework online. Our whole lifestyle is moving toward to
implementation of technology, so we believe everybody should have the

terms of money, we offer the leasing solution as a way to even the playing field so
that no students have an exponential advantage over others. Some college students

they had to pay in full at the time of purchase. This is why

everything is just beautiful and detailed. But realistically i would love to take my
boyfriend to the Falling Water House, and i have been looking into it recently. You
see pictures on instagram or Facebook of couples going there and taking cute
selfies but i see the beautiful nature behind them, and the architecture sitting above
a waterfall. I would love to be able to go experience it for myself instead of just
seeing pictures of it. The Sagrada Familia definitely caught my attention right off
the bat in the video. It has been in construction for over 133 years and counting. It
is so intricate and advanced that it is taking centuries to build and that is just
something that shouldn t be overlooked. You don t hear about that kind of stuff in
your history classes in high school, or even in art history at a vocational high school
where you major in graphic design. Growing up i never once heard of the Sagrada

Dystopian Bildungsroman
The effect that dystopian societies have on Bildungsroman is not necessarily large,
but it still alters the traditional view of it. First off the dystopian society has a few
trademarked aspects. These include: the use of propaganda to control people,
restrictions on freedom, a certain concept is worshipped by society, constant
surveillance, fear of outside world, dehumanized state, real world is banished and
distrusted, individuality is bad, and the society is supposed to be a utopia.
(readwritethink.org)
One of the major differences in Dystopian Bildungsroman is that traditionally the
protagonist will have people who are mentors and help them to find their correct
place in society, but in dystopia there are not many good mentors leading ... Show

Bildungsroman was originally directly about the protagonist s character formation
and finding their place in society, but the dystopian society brings more of a focus
on the protagonist discovering their place despite the corrupt society surrounding
them. In Divergent Tris has a choice to make about her future, she has her family to
stay with and a community that she grew up in and is expected to stay in. What the
society has ingrained in her is that despite what she wants her best place is with her
family in the same faction. Society has supplied them with a false hope of making
their own choice when they turn sixteen. When they do turn sixteen, they must take
an aptitude test and attend the choosing ceremony. The aptitude tests place the teens
in simulations of situations that are meant to tell them where they fit the best in
society, and generally the teens only receive one faction that best fits them. In Tris
case she received three different factions as possible choices and was told to keep
her results a secret because this rarely happened and she would be in danger if the
people in power found out. This breaks the mold of Bildungsroman because Tris
society has inadvertently given her more than one option showing that there isn t just
one place she can be useful but
Essay On Aurangzeb
Aurangzeb s religious policy is based on the Islamic theory of kinship. Aurangzeb
was felt that he had not only become greater than administer the empire in a better
way, but also to protect and strengthen particularly its Sunni Islam faith. He was a
strict follower of the Sunni sect, to the extent that he persecuted the members of the
Shiite sect. In order to achieve its objective of strengthening Islam, his father was
imprisoned, he killed his brothers, he forced his son Akbar to revolt and have a
miserable life. He also forced the Rajputs, the Jat Sikhs and Marathas to revolt,
destroyed the states of Bijapur and Golconda and imposed political, economic and
social disabilities of their Muslim subjects in order to convert them to Islam. Believes

The Abolition Of Slavery In America
Slavery
Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North
American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of such
lucrative crops as tobacco. Slaves were mostly of African decent. About 12 million
slaves had been shipped from Africa, and 10 million had arrived in America. Slavery
was a problem that lasted 245 years in North America. There was nothing uplifting
or positive about slavery, and it was basically white people making black people, their
slaves.
Slavery was eventually put to an end by leaders such as; Fredrick Douglass,
Theodore Parker, Harriet Tubman, and Martin Luther King Jr. These leaders brought
attention to the horrid act of slavery and what it does to people. Slavery is ... Show

Douglass was born a slave and became a noted reformer, author and speaker. He
dedicated his life to the abolition of slavery and the fight for Black rights. He was
convinced that Abolition should be achieved by moral enticement alone, without
political action.
Next, Theodore Parker (1818 1895) attacked the Fugitive Slave Law from his
Boston stand, urging his audience to assist runaways in any way they could. He
wanted to stress the importance of helping in any way possible. He hid scores of
fugitives from the federal agents delegated to summon up them, and he engineered
their escape to Canada.
Harriet Tubman man (1822 1913) was an African American woman whose daring
rescues helped hundreds of slaves to freedom. She became the most famous leader of
the Underground Railroad, which helped slaves escaping to the free states or to
Canada.
She was called the Black Moses, who led over 300 slaves to freedom on the
Underground Railroad and was never caught, nor any of the fugitives in her charge.

Masculinity In The Big Sleep, And Henry Hawk sThe Big
Sleep
World War II brought a new era for women since they took over the job force as
men were fighting in the war. Soon, women were successfully engaging in jobs
that were once believed could only be done by men. However, once the war was
over there was an expectation that women would give their jobs back to the men.
With some women resisting to return to their traditional pink collar domestic,
secretarial, and industrial positions, ubiquitous images of propaganda still recognized
today symbolize this idea. Rosie the Riveter is a primary example as her image
radiates competence and power, which were traits associated with masculinityand
were not appropriate in women. As society s view on women began to change and
broaden, characteristics that were stereotypically male accommodated this new idea
of femininityand attractiveness. Henry Hawk s film production of The Big Sleep
(Warner Brothers, 1946) and Raymond Chandler s novel, The Big Sleep highlights
the changes in social construction of the portrayal of women in the form of female
empowerment and its involvement in a predominately male society. It is mandatory
to examine the hero and essence of masculinity, which is portrayed by Phillip
Marlowe in both the novel and film versions of The Big Sleep in order to analyze
changes in the perception of female femininity. Throughout Henry Hawk s 1946 film
version of The Big Sleep, Marlowe s characterization as the hero of the film
demonstrates standard masculine qualities of a man:

Influential People Of The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment or SiГЁcle des LumiГЁres as it known in France was the start of
a physiological movement which controlled world ideas of the 18th century. It is
believed by French historians that this period started in between 1715 and 1789 the
year Louis XIV died. Others date the start of the enlightenment back to 1620 with the
start of the scientific revolution. Enlightenment thinkers wanted goals of tolerance,
progress, liberty, and reason as well to end the abuses of the state and church. The
enlightenment is marked by rising experimentation, scientific accuracy, and
reductionism, along with increased questioning of religious beliefs. Three very

Corporate And Business Strategy Analysis
The Corporate and Business Strategy
Before we can talk about the Strategy Hudson Bay uses we must first answer the the
question of what a Corporate and Business Strategy is and how The Bay inaugurates
this into their company;
A Corporate Strategy in its simplest form is the the drive of the company as this
has the goal/goals a company is trying to achieve and at what level it wishes to
compete. Keeping this in mind we can now talk about the Hudson Bays corporate
strategy. The Hudson Bay s mission statement is a vision for growth and is
committed to bringing Canadians the products and services they want . The Hudson
Bay is the oldest commercial company in North America, and as such expects to be
at the forefront competing at the highest level in its industry, In addition they have a
goal to make $1.5 billion in incremental sales and revenue. Now that we have
identified the corporate strategy of Hudson bay we must identify how they plan to
achieve these goals this is known as the business strategy.
A business strategy is how a company intends to accomplish the corporate level
strategy it does this by highlighting key objectives and appointing these objective to
different divisions in the company, now that we understand what a business strategy
is we can examine how Hudson bay inaugurates this into their business strategy. They
prioritize accommodating the demands of Canadians and providing quality service to
their customers. In addition, they put great importance on
Persuasive Essay On Guns In America
In America the citizens were given rights by our founding fathers that were given to
the citizens to maintain order in the country; one of these is the second amendment,
the right to bear arms. This amendment allows United states citizens to carry a
firearm for reasons like self defense and hunting ( Second Amendment ). Now in
this country there are some who wish to take that right away by saying that firearms
are the source of violence in this country. These people would have others believe
that guns are the reason that violent crimes happen everyday in our nation. The
government is trying to ban the use of guns in America, and guns are not even the
biggest threat (Deakins). No one should be able to take away a citizen s right to bear
arms.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1989, a ban on guns was put into effect in California. Over the next five years
there was a twenty six percent spike in murders related to guns. But since 1991,
when the nation s murder rate peaked, the murder rate has begun dropping drastically
even though the number of gun owners has increased dramatically ( A Ban On
Assault ). In addition, studies done between 2009 and 2014 show that the number of
violent crimes involving guns are nine times lower than ones involving knives, blunt
objects, and assaults with an unarmed assailant. Not many of these crimes are even
attributed to law abiding permit owners, because of the five million people who have
a hand gun permit less than one one hundredth of a percent have committed a violent
crime involving their firearm
Biography of Guy De Maupassant
Guy De Maupassant was born on August 5th, 1850 at the ChГўteau de Miromesnil.
He was born to his mother and father Laure Le Poittevin and Gustave de
Maupassant. At a young age his parents divorced, he and his brother lived with his
mom for most of his life. Laure was highly involved in his life, she is the first
person to show him the love for classical literature. As he grew up that love grew
stronger and stronger. After he graduated college, he enlisted into the Franco
Prussian War. Although he served, and had other jobs afterwards he was not a
very ambitious man. He would rather spend his time and energy writing than doing
his job. Many of his stories took place during the Franco Prussian War. To me his
stories were twisted and depressing. His early life was not exactly the easiest of
lives. When Maupassant was 11, his parents separated, and he was brought up by his
mother in the picturesque coastal town of Г‰tretat (Liukkonen). This affects the
way he thinks, therefore the way he writes his stories. I also believe that the war
had a great effect on his writings. During the time of the war, many aspects of life
weren t exactly joyful. I feel that the way the world around him was depressing,
which influenced him to write more depressing stories. His subjects include war, the
Norman peasantry, the bureaucracy, life on the banks of the Seine, the emotional
problems of the different classes, and, ominously, hallucination (Britannica). It could
have been a way for
How Keats Is Obsessed With Beauty
One Must Imagine Keats Happy Keats is obsessed with beauty in his poetry. Keats
always creates a a beautiful object out of some mundane and poor existence. Most
notably, in Isabella, or Pot of Basil , Isabella buries the head of her lost lover,
Lorenzo, inside a pot of basil. Keats approaches beauty in a way fundamentally
different from Lake Poets such as Wordsworth and Coleridge. For Wordsworth, his
poems will be found to carry with them a purpose (Norton, 295). Therefore, in
Wordsworth s pomes beauty is secondary, and he exhibits beauty only in order to
show the purpose of his poem. For instance, in Lines Written in Early Spring , the
beauty of Nature described in the first five stanzas only elevates the speaker to a
high enough position and hence prepares readers for the revelation of the final
stanza What man has made of man (Norton, 280). For Keats, it seems that his
poems do not have a purpose; if there is one, the purpose can only be Beauty, as
Keats discloses in a letter to his brothers, the sense of Beauty overcomes every
other consideration, or rather obliterates all consideration (Keats, 232). However,
curiously Keats likes to break the beautiful object he creates in his poems. For
instance, Isabella s brothers steal her pot of basil; Apollonius exorcises Lamia. In
Eve of St. Agnes , although the protagonists Madeline and Porphyro escape from the
fate of death, the poem still ends with the morbid deaths of Angela and the
Beadsman. If Keats goal is to
Flaws In The Cask Of Amontillado
An unreliable narrator is like a tour guide without a map they take you on a journey
with good intentions, but they made many mistakes. Basically, what this means is
that everyone has flaws; and the rest is dependent on what their intention is.
Imperfect characters are routinely used in short stories, mainly because every
protagonistand antagonisthas an intention of some sort. The flaws often add to their
character. If there were no flaws, then several elements of the story would be
missing; specifically in the narrator. Flawed characters add meaning or conflict to the
short stories; which is the most important reason that the characters appeal to the
readers.
Most stories do not begin with a flawless protagonist; or a perfect antagonist. ... Show

But what is different about this story is that the main character is a truly vindictive
and unforgiving character when the story begins; but they still hold the place of
the protagonist. This is because a character named Fortunato is Montresor s
opponent or enemy. Montresor s ultimate goal is to get revenge on Fortunato for
the things he had done to him; and decides to lure him to his own brutal fate. His
character is revealed almost immediately; as he describes his plan and puts up a
facade to welcome Fortunato. He says he did not perceive that my to smile now
was at the thought of his immolation. (212). His obligation to kill this man shows
his vengeful personality, and also reveals that he is definitely not flawless.
However, his opposition to Fortunato is what creates conflict. Montresor chooses
to commit this crime to punish Fortunato for the pain he had caused him.
Fortunato is lured into the catacombs; promised some Amontillado. Montresor
took advantage of him being intoxicated; so Fortunato foolishly follows him to the
crypt in which he would be imprisoned. All this time, the reader doesn t know what
Fortunato s evil deed was. We don t know if anything deserved that kind of
punishment. However, at the end of the story when Montresor is trapping him
behind the wall, Fortunato says his final words. Montresor says those words I
hearkened in vain for a reply...no answer...my heart grew sick. (217). He shows
remorse for the tragedy he caused. Montresor was about as foolish as his deceased
acquaintance. This factor; this flaw; is what caused these events in the story to
happen. He the main character not been flawed, there would be no base for the
conflict in the

The Evolution of Title Sequences
Movie titles first appeared in the beginning of silent films around the early twentieth
century, giving producers the opportunity to display legal and copyright information.
Before the fifties these movie titles were just text with information, they were static,
separate from the movie, and it was common for them to be projected onto the
cinema curtains before the first scene of the movie. This paper will address the

Digital software didn t exist to make shapes and words fly across the screen at the

that included a beginning, middle, and end. The primary purpose of a title sequence
has always been to introduce the name of a film, introduce the actors, and introduce
the main people that work on it. Title sequences may be considered the most
important aspect of a film to some. In a perfect world the title sequence sets up an

Beowulf As A Christian Hero
In addition, Beowulf exemplifies many features that define him as a Christian hero
as well by specifically resembling a Christ figure. The monster Grendel instills an
overall feeling of fear of death on the citizens of Heorot. When Beowulf arrives and
defeats Grendel, he subsequently and momentarily releases the people of these bonds
of fear, much like Jesusreleases the people from the fear of death by dying for their
sins and ensuring an eternally ideal afterlife. Additionally, the author portrays Grendel
as an incarnation of the Christian devil throughout the story. Many of his
characteristics resemble those of Satan. This includes the fact that he belongs to the
lineage of Cain and the fact that his and his mother s home provokes images of hell.
However, another enemy of Beowulfalso resembles Satan: the dragon. The bible
describes Satan as the great dragon...the serpent of old . This description draws an
interesting comparison between Beowulf s battle with the dragon and Jesus
experience in the garden of Gethsemane. In Matthew 26:36 56, Jesus tells his
eleven disciples not to fight the people that capture him and willingly sacrifices
himself for the good of the people despite the betrayal by Judas, one of his own.
Similarly, eleven men follow Beowulf when he faces the dragon. Just like Jesus
knew his predetermination to die for his people, Beowulf recognizes his mortality
and knows his time on earth is ending. Beowulf slays the dragon, but the cost is his
life. While

Shooting An Elephant Irony
In Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell, the narrator is irresolute towards his role
in British Imperialism. While his role in the governing body makes him despise the
British Empire s systematic mistreatment of its subjects, he also resents the locals
because of how they torment him. Furthermore, this ambivalence shows the decline
of imperialism as the narrator cannot support his own side, reflecting the corruption
of the British regime. Orwell juxtaposes the narrator s authoritative occupation as a
British police officer with his repugnance towards British imperialism through his
consistent use of irony, the extended metaphor of theatre, and the narrator s own
indecisiveness. Foremostly, irony is crucial in showing the narrator s ambivalence as

with the gravity it deserves. Their gleeful disrespect for the life of the animal

reality I was only an absurd puppet pushed to and fro... As a colonial policeman, the

interaction, the ambivalence of the narrator is expressed for he wants to gratify the
Burmese people as he feels it is his duty as a colonizer, yet the action goes against
his moral conduct. Furthermore he scorns the Burmese and does not want to satisfy
their wicked desires. By comparing his situation to that of a performance, the narrator
shows his lack of control and dominance as a British colonial

Cookmaid With Still Life Of Vegetables And Fruit
Fashion is a platform in which one can represent themselves. People are often
characterized and assessed based on what they wear and how they present their
body to the world. This notion of clothing not just being for function but also for
expression dates back long before the modern age. In the early seventeenth century,
for example, an artists portrayal of apparel was used as a symbol of wealth and
status. The paintings Cookmaid with Still Life of Vegetables and Fruit (Figure
One), Probably Mary Lady Scudamore (Figure Two), and Dudley, the 3rd Baron
North (Figure Three) all depict people of different prosperity and backgrounds. The
three subjects in the paintings don distinctively different attire. In this essay, I will
consider how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The subject of the portrait, Dudley North, is pictured wearing a knee length rich
black garment fully embroidered in silver thread, paired with an extravagant set of
shoes. He also dons a white collar and cufflinks made of lace, paralleling those
depicted in the portrait of Lady Scudamore. The color and materiality of the attire
convey the elite status of Dudley. The subject of the painting was a principle
courtier of James I, a role that placed him in the heart of clothing. The court
members developed into models for the noble style of dress, with royalty spending
thousands of pounds annually for their wardrobe. In the modern world, fashion is
predominately a female dominated industry. However, in the early seventeenth
century, the dress of men was of greater importance than that of woman, as
aristocratic woman often lived privatized lives whereas men were more exposed to
society. The fit of the male outfit also held a high significance, just as it did for the
female. In the portrait, Dudley s waist is highlighted through the tight tailoring of the
costume, and is enhanced by the belt that clasps his sword. The male representation
of fashion was a symbol of aristocracy in seventeenth century England and was used
in portraiture in order to express one s wealth, as seen through the painting of Dudley
Ergonomics Literature Review
Literature Review evaluating the effects of ergonomics on work
Ergonomics is defined as the science of designing the job to fit the worker rather than
physically forcing the workers body to fit the jobВ№. Ergonomics combines aspects
from the following scientific fields, physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, industrial
hygiene and psychology. This bibliographic analysis will concentrate on the
following topics: medical aspects, productivity and product quality, the relationship
between work sustainability and ergonomics, small business foundries, and green
ergonomics. This review will also highlight pros and cons of the application of

A study shows that ergonomics in the work environment could assist in eliminating
frequent events of production failures, health hazards, optimise production rates and
the effect on product quality. A strong correlation between quality errors and high
ergonomic workload exists. Potential reasons for this include the effect of other
ergonomic factors (organisational, cognitive and psychological) and
misclassifications. High risk tasks such as working underneath machinery, hidden, at
a distance, or in compromising postures, and forceful operations creates more errors.
The following outcomes were pointed out in the study: improvement in productivity
and working conditions, reduced reworking, scrap and time, and a decrease in health
risks. Advantages of ergonomics should encourage the employer and employees to
support the ergonomic approach to assist them in finding solutions and making
continuous improvements. Evidence from our research findings suggest that
incorporating ergonomics into the work place positively effects the workers
wellbeing and production but has no impact on the quality of the
Essay on History of Aruba
History of Aruba
Although there are no written accounts of Aruba s early history, much has been
determined by archeological excavation. The first known settlers of the island were
a tribe of Arawak natives called the Caiquetios. These people were initially located
on the South American mainland, and it is assumed that the Caiquetios migrated
from Venezuela to Aruba. Due to its lack of natural resources, it can be assumed that
Aruba was merely a stopover for a succession of tribes. They were a peaceful people,
living under the guidance of a shaman or priest, who also served as the village chief.
The transient nature of Aruba s population kept the size of the villages small, usually
under fifty individuals. The Caiquetios consumed only ... Show more content on

When the Spanish realized that the climate of Aruba was too arid for cultivation and
there was little evidence of the gold they were seeking, they essentially abandoned it
to the native Caiquetios for approximately 150 years, and devoted their attention to
their more lucrative possessions. Some natives were brought to Spain s other islands,
such as Hispaniola, to work as slaves, while others were converted to Christianity.
Before long, however, the island became a concealed hide away for pirates and
buccaneers who preyed on ships transporting New World goods back to Europe. At
Bushiribana on the northeast coast, the ruins of an old pirate castle remain today.
During this time, the Dutch and Spanish had begun their Eighty Years War, which,
in 1580, resulted in the closing of Portugal s ports to Dutch navigation. The Dutch
began traveling to the West Indies in search of foreign goods such as salt.
Following the Spanish conquest of their base in St. Maarten, the Dutch set out
looking for another place to establish a colonial presence. In 1936 they captured the
islands of Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire from the Spanish who put up very little
defense. The Dutch West India Company set up its administrative capital on
Curaçao and formed an economic plan for its Netherlands Antilles. Curaçao
would be the capital and agricultural center, Bonaire would be used for salt making
and maize growing,
Isabel Allende, The Goddaughter Of Salvador Allende
Jonathan Pinela Lebron Ms. Linda M. Goddard Comp II ENC 1102 10108
November, 15 2017 Title Isabel Allende was born on August 2, 1942, in Lima, Peru,
to TomГЎs and Francisca Allende. Isabel Allende is the goddaughter of Salvador
Allende, the first socialist president of Chile who was her father s cousin. Allende s
father was a diplomat and deserted the family when Allende was just two years.
Allende, her siblings, and mother then moved in with her grandfather in Chile.
Allende remembers herself as a rebellious child during those years living with her
grandfather. We lived in an affluent house with no money, (Allende, Telegraph). My
grandfather would pay for what was necessary but my mother did not even have the
cash to buy us an ice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This perseverance could be related to Allende s perseverance in life such as
becoming a journalist and author. Throughout the three Fortunato generations,
there was the desired result of a successful circus. The first Fortunato persevered
through times of catastrophe and turmoil (105) and for years Horacio s
grandfather bore the sole responsibility for the spectacle (105). His desire to save
and maintain his circus came to the point where he had to perform almost all of the
acts. However, he managed somehow to survive bad times while many other
circuses succumbed and were thus obliterated(106). The first Fortunato s desire to
keep his circus buoyant left him to persevere through all the hard time and come
out stronger. The first Fortunato s son, Fortunato II, was left a debt free
enterprise. He too persevered with an unshakable prudence and under his direction
the circus grew in size and prestige until it was the largest in the nation. (105) He
made it so that the enormous caravan no longer drifted aimlessly, as it had in his
father s day, but steamed purposefully (106). The second Fortunato was able to
make the circus a greater success. His father before him allowed him to do so
through his perseverance and thus created a new, higher goal for his son to reach.
Horacio, the third Fortunato, intended to be rich from the time he was a young boy
(108). His goal was predetermined and he eventually lived a good life.
The Tesla Model Of Electric Cars Essay
Over 325,000 reservations have been placed for the upcoming release of the Tesla
Model 3. Those waiting for their new luxury Tesla, however, will need to patiently
wait until 2019 for their electric cars.
There is fantastic news when it comes to the variety of electric cars though. There
are some seriously compelling electric cars currently on the market that you can get
behind the wheel of. There are even some new models to be launched onto roadways
later this year as well.
Another bonus for electric car fans is that the three year wait period is just long
enough to lease a new vehicle while waiting in vain. The wealth of options you can
consider in regards to the $35,000 Model 3 opening price is very encouraging.
Especially if you re wetting your taste buds for electric cars with multiple companies
throwing their green thumb into the mix.
It will be hard to compete with the Tesla Model S and Model 3 though. The Model
S is designed with safety, luxury, and hair blowing exhilaration in mind. The Tesla
all electric powertrain that will bring you from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds is pretty
mind blowing. The Tesla Model S also comes with an autopilot feature.
The Model S 70 has an MSRP price tag of $71,200 and the AWD 70D is $76,200.
This is a far cry from the value you get with the Ford Focus Electric and Nissan Leaf.
Even the BMW 330e and i3 are less expensive.
Those plug in hybrid alternatives to Tesla electric cars are great as well. But they
often only offer up the
Psychodynamic Approach In Psychology
Due to the broad spectrum of interests in psychology, psychologists have created a
various and diverse explanation. In this essay, we will discuss how the three
different disorders are explained psychologically. The three disorders that will be
explained are schizophrenia, depression, and eating disorders. The treatments for all
these disorders will be explored as well. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the
different treatments given for depression will be considered. The mental health has
always been an important part of each individual s life as it improves the quality of
life immensely. A good mental health provides us with healthy relationships, make
good life choices, maintain physical health, handle ups and downs of life and
discover and grow towards our potential. Schizophreniais a long term mental health...

We will explain schizophrenia psychologically by two main explanations which
are psychodynamic and behavioral. Psychodynamic approach is concerned with
insensate processes. According to this approach, the abnormality is the result of
unresolved conflict between the ID, ego, and superego which has been subjugated
into the unconscious. According to Freud if the world of the schizophrenic is
harsh then a child may become fixated at a particular stage of development (slide
share, 2013). This usually happens if the child has had an experience of
unsupported and less caring parents; this in turn can be accountable to why the
schizophrenics have a sense of loss. This is all because their ego has no control.
Before the ego develops in a child they are ruled by the ID which means selfish
desires. Therefore, it means schizophrenia occurs due to conflicts in
Abraham Maslow Handout
The Abraham Maslow handout is about the self Actualizing person and the
psychologically healthy individual; that is very helpful for everyone. Abraham
Maslow created self actualization theory that represents a concept derived from
Humanistic psychological. Self actualization definition is, to become what you were
intended to be; to fulfill to the utmost your potential. According to Abraham Maslow,
it represents growth of an individual toward fulfillment of the highest needs; those
for meaning in life, in particular. Maslow s hierarchy reflects a linear pattern of
growth depicted in a direct pyramidal order of ascension. Moreover, he states that self
actualizing individuals are able to resolve dichotomies such as that reflected in the

Chapter 4 Chapter 1-4
Chapter Four: Chapter four will examine reasons of why teaching history and
controversial, sensitive topics to young elementary students is important and those
topics, such as racism, affect young children. It will also examine both the negative
and positive effects and influences history can have on a young child s mind and their
cultural way of thinking. Ethnicity, race, and other diverse characteristics play very
important roles in today s society. James Bank believes that social science specialists
in ethnic relations have abundantly documented the fact that ethnicity and ethnic
cultures are integral parts of our social system (pg 5). What children learn in
elementary schoolabout social studies and the history of their country and heritages

The kind of education they receive in their earlier years helps lay out the foundation
for building the characteristics of an open minded, easy to relate to, caring,
member of society. There was a study published in 2013 that tested white children
between the ages of 5 10 to see at what kind of stage of prejudice and racism they
were harboring. Using the collected research, Franca and Monteiro came to an
important, normative contextual condition that allowed children to display aversive
racial biased behaviors (pg 264). What this means is that if children grow up in
environments where the people are accepting and don t usually express bad attitudes
towards people of different races and ethnicities, those children will continue on that
same path and racism should not be an issue later on their life. Another study was
conducted to study the affects of racism on babies and toddlers, and how

  • 1. Doctor Faustus Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Doctor Faustus" can prove to be a challenging endeavor, demanding a nuanced understanding of Christopher Marlowe's play and the complex themes it explores. The narrative intricacies, rich symbolism, and philosophical inquiries embedded in the text necessitate a thorough analysis. To create a compelling essay, one must delve into the character of Faustus, examining his tragic flaw and the consequences of his choices. Additionally, the play's historical context, religious undertones, and the Faustian bargain theme require careful consideration. Balancing textual evidence with critical interpretation adds another layer of difficulty, as one must navigate through various scholarly perspectives to construct a well-supported argument. Furthermore, the challenge lies in avoiding a mere summary and instead engaging in a thoughtful exploration of the play's deeper meanings. As a Jesuit university, Loyola teaches a commitment to social justice, a desire to include the marginalized and an embrace of service. Ignatian pedagogy, with its emphasis on experience, critical thinking, effective communication and reflection is an active learning pedagogy. It is a tremendous asset, but its pragmatic value depends on how this approach is realized. Loyola recognizes that being culturally responsive is more than being respectful, empathetic, or sensitive. • 3. The Media Of New Digital Media In the age of new digital media, it has become all the easier for consumers to be able to share their media online, on various different sites. Whether that is audio, video, or images, there are a whole host of different platforms in which users can upload their content on to and, in turn, can interact with other uses that have the same interests. In this report I will be looking at different social media sites, all with a different media demographic and discuss the advantages and drawbacks of each site in regards to the consumer, and whether they are the best sites to use in their own respective media areas. 2)a)Spotify Spotify is a commercial streaming site, launched in October 2008, which lets users browse and listen to just about every song in existence by any artist, album, genre, or record label. It is one of the leading sites for streaming music, and it allows users to be able to stream music to their, computer, mobile or tablet devices wherever they are in the world. This form of digital media allows users to effectively have access to as many albums as they want, as opposed to going out and buying physical CD s, and it is also a way for users to listen to music legally, as opposed to previously using other illegal sites, such as Limewire (which was shut down by federal court) to be able to listen to music while not paying a penny. In addition to the free version of Spotify, you can purchase the ВЈ11.99 per month subscription, which removes the commercial adverts
  • 4. Analyze The Changes Of The Renaissance Dbq The Renaissance was a rebirth of Europe during the 1400s. It was a time period that came after the Middle Ages, and people started thinking differently than how they were thinking during the Middle Ages. The Bubonic Plague made many people question their lives and also the churches and their religions which were a big part of life during the Middle Ages. Instead, during the Renaissancemany ideas were taken from the ancient Greeks and Romans, the laws on paintings became much more relaxed leading too many artists creating detailed paintings, the printing press was created which made the creation of books faster and increased quantity, and people became more educated in history, reading and writing. The printing press allowed for the creation of books to be much quicker and for the quantity of books to be much larger. In document 2 it says, Now a copy of 180 copies of the bible could be made in 2 years. This shows how over the span of 2 years a lot of bibles could be made for more people to read. Another change during the Renaissance is the increase of education during the Renaissance. In document 3 it says, Instead of being stuck as a peasant on a manor, people moved to cities and learned to become skilled workers for guilds. This shows one of the effects that education had on the Renaissance which allowed people to do something else in their lives other than being stuck inside a manor. Yet another change during the Renaissance is the increased interest in Medicine and Science. This was important not only for understanding the body but also to understand diseases. In document 5 it says, In the Renaissance, people started to learn where the plague came from and how the human body worked. This shows how the knowledge on the human body led people to learn about the plague which was a huge issue during the Middle

But she was very pretty and looked as if she could take care of herself. I couldn t be sorry for her. (pg 24) In this time, this can be seen that Sheila was very responsible for what she had done to Eva smith as she is the reason for that girl to get rid from Milwards because of her jealousy towards her. The exhibition provided all sorts of objects; from sculptures, glass figures, painted art, and more. These art pieces specify the kind of life that was taking place in the Bay of Naples during the second century. As we know the cities around the Bay of Naples, which include Pompeiiand Herculaneum, became tourist attractions when the cities were excavated after they were buried from the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius. However, the comprehension of how the art pieces made their way into the museum is just a little fact of the history behind them. Then we view the sculptures of the Boar and Hunting Dogs which were originally in the garden of a home in a city in the Bay of Naples. We also view the large fresco of the Garden Scene (see Fig. 2), which feels like a time warp back in time to Pompeii. The Garden Scene displays the beauty of nature with the various plants and birds present, and the two heads hanging on posts seem to be looking out to the viewer and protecting the garden. After the garden pieces we then are welcomed to the indoors of the Bay of Naples homes. The presentations of glass objects as well as pieces of furniture are the next stop in the exhibition. We view a couple of lamps which have exquisite detail. The Lamp Bearing Youth (see Fig. 3) which was utilized as a home decoration seems to be more of an artifact. A young and fit man, presumably Apollo, stands in the now prominent cross balance posture. We then see objects such as the two Table Supporters and the Four Flasks. The two table supporters are very intricate objects, for they portray an almost devilish animal with a lion s leg. On the other hand, the four flasks express the beauty of glass blowing with the exquisite colors and movements of lines. At the end of this room we are taken to The Moregine Triclinium which is a beautiful room with an empowering color of red. The room has what seems to be the second
  • 9. Apple s Use Of Social Media Question 4: Apple s use of social media: Apple s Presence on social media can be somewhat argued as non existent. Looking at social networking sites we can see that this is evident. They do have a Facebook page but they are relaxed in their response to the public complaints and comments. They have a Twitter handle, @Apple, but it never posts nor does it have a profile picture yet it still has 37 thousand followers. Although Apple as a whole doesn t engage on social networking as we can see, they do have account for their various departments and apps, such as, @AppleSupport and Apple Music on Facebook. Apple doesn t engage with the public on social networking sites concerning issues related to the current Apple vs FBI case. The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, has a twitter handle but also doesn t comment or tweet on any issues. Observing other social media, Apple is quite active on Content Communities. Apple has a YouTube channels where they post videos about their products, users can then comment on the video and give feedback to Apple. • 10. Political Climate of the 1970s Paper The 1970s for the United States of America was a time of recession, war and a world famous government scandal. The war in Vietnam left the people of the nation in disarray and turmoil. The government took a great deal of abuse from the people with the decisions made during the Vietnam War. President Nixon attempted different strategies than used before to end the VietnamWar with little success. The public s image of the government was distorted when the Watergate Scandal was made public and Richard Nixonwas the first president to resign in U.S. history. The 1970s was a challenging time for the people of the nation and the faith the country had in the government diminished. By the end of the Vietnam War the social outcome of the nation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people saw how dirty the politicians can be and lost a great deal of respect for the government. The Watergate Scandal displayed criminal acts which involved the President and high ranking officials. The after effects showed the balance shift from the Republican to the Democratic Party with the voters. Most of the voters were disgusted with Nixon s actions and leaned to the Democratic Party for restructuring. The Watergate Scandal also led to the people blaming the government of other issues like inflation, recession and energy cost. The story of Watergate is a complex and deep one full of intrigue and back room deals, public politics and personal motivations (Evans, 2002). The people of the nation witnessed President Nixon abuse the power of presidency and his actions plague the political practices to this day. In conclusion, the 1970s were a time in history that will be remembered for many years to come. The Vietnam War was full of controversy and frustrated the American pride the country obtained after World War II. The colleges in the U.S. were a popular location for anti war protestors and even resulted in the death of several students. The draft was in full effect and created draft dodgers which mostly fled to Canada to escape the war. Many Americans felt our military should not have even been in Vietnam, but the government feared the communist domino
  • 11. Leadership Theories And Theories Of Leadership Essay For decade s individuals, companies, and organizations have spent an unprecedented amount of money on researching, molding, modeling and working to define what a leader is and what characteristics make successful leaders. With all the research, there is not a quick answer or even full agreement as to what makes an individual an effective leader. The definition of a leader is someone who can influence others and who has managerial authority. (Robbins, Decenzo, Coulter, 2015. P.370) Research on management and leadership in organizations over the past century shows there are still no clear definitions or answers about what counts as effective and successful leadership; the field remains varied and argued. Actual studies of leadership began in the twentieth century. The early studies of leadership theories focused on the person and their behaviors, currently known as leadership trait theories and behavioral theories. Trait theories of Leadership Trait theories of leadership defined as theories that isolate characteristics (traits) that differentiate leaders from nonleaders. (Robbins, et al., 2015. P.338) Research on leadership began with a search for inherited characteristics that differentiated leaders from nonleaders and explained individuals effectiveness as leaders. Early research dating back to the twentieth century was the beginning of the trait paradigm of leadership research. Researchers have not been able to definitively state that traits alone define
  • 12. Doing Business in Saudi Arabia Essay International Business Saudi Arabia s Dynamic Culture Introduction The American way of business differs from many other countries across the world. Each company has their own set of tactics that they use to close big deals. Businesses from Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, tend to do things a bit differently. They take pride in getting to know the individuals from the other company before even disclosing any information to them. Meetings sometimes take place in less than formal locations such as coffee shops and cafes. The religious and social differences between the United States and Saudi Arabia make it challenging for Americans, unaware of the way of Saudi life, to do business there. They may experience cultural shock or even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Martinez Carter). When doing business internationally, it is important to consider how businesses operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own, businesses tend to be deal focused where people are more task oriented. Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S. communication style because the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi Arabia, on the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with friends ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family centered society where trust of others is highly correlated with the degree of familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for businesses here to take a long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is important when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). The relationship focus businesses will not be so quick to conduct a business deal. They would rather take the time and learn about the business and individuals they are dealing with. The deal focused businesses like to get right to business with as little time wasting as possible. It can not be determined that one is better than the other. However it is more reasonable to follow what your culture defines as more common. The Saudi way of life is based around religion and family. There are
  • 13. The Mother-Daughter Relationship In Amy Tan s The Violin Every mother daughter relationship differs, whether it is a happy or terrifyingly, angry relationship. This is shown in Amy Chua s excerpt from The Violin in the memoir Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mom and Amy Tan s excerpt from Jing Mei Woo: Two Kinds in the novel The Joy Luck Club. Chua writes with a more calm yet irritable tone, while Tan on the other hand is more aggressive and belligerent. First off, in The Violin , Amy Chua shows an irritable tone in the relationship with her daughter. Chua stated, ... my presence made her edgy and irritable , which clearly shows that their relationship was not always the most comfortable to be a part of (Chua 47 48). Chua s daughter, Lulu, felt like she was always being criticized by her motherwhen playing the violin.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The irritable tone in Chua s excerpt could have been recognized as already aggressive in another person s opinion; however, the mother daughter relationship in Tan s novel seemed much more violent. Aggression was shown when Tan wrote, ... yanked me by the arm and pulled me off the floor. She was frighteningly strong, half pulling, half carrying me towards the piano... (Tan 141 142). Using great imagery in that line, Tan made it incredibly easy for readers to see in their minds the amount of anger that was running through the mother s head and the fear of the daughter. When the daughter said, You want me to be something that I m not! , it was referring to her not wanting to play the piano. (Tan 141 142). Her mother is one of those parents who have a dream in mind for their children before they are even born instead of supporting the child s own dream. As if it could not get any more bitter, words of hatred were exchanged between one another such as, ...I wish you weren t my mother, (Tan 141 142). The readers could only imagine the menacing tone in the daughter s voice when this was
  • 14. Pit Bull Liability Research Pit bulls are a breed of dog that are notoriously labeled as being dangerous and as having a propensity to attack without warning. Statistics gathered from 2005 through 2015 found that Pit bulls accounted for 64.4 percent, or 232, of the 360 deaths of Americans suffered due to dog bite injuries, while only making up about 6.6 percent of the total U.S. dogpopulation. Due to these statistics, there are many who defend enacting statutes that specifically point to incidents involving these dogs needing strict liability to protect third parties. The Maryland Court of Appeals, for example, held in Tracey v. Solesky (2012) that owners and landlords are liable for injuries caused by pit bulls and cross bred pit bull mixes, describing them as inherently dangerous. The judgment of this court ruling meant that it was no longer necessary to prove that a pit bull who attacks a person or that pit bulls in general are dangerous; all pit bull owners are automatically held to a strict liability standard under Maryland law. This case established a new standard of liability for a specific breed of dog due to what some would argue is their aggressive and vicious nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, even if the owner of a wild animal takes significant measures to protect others from being harmed by their pet, they are still held responsible for any injuries that do occur. This is due to the fact that wild animals cannot be tamed and it is assumed that all wild animals naturally have vicious tendencies. Strict liability laws in regards to possessors of wild animals exist because these kinds of animals are more dangerous than domestic animals are. A tiger that lives in an individual s house brings a higher degree of risk than, for example, a house cat would

The International Society Of Blood Transfusion ( Isbt ) Chapter I 1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION 1 1 Overview of human blood groups The term blood group is usually restricted to blood cell surface antigens, and generally to red cell surface antigens. These antigens are molecules present on the red blood cells membrane, which can trigger an immune response if they are foreign to the body. Landsteiner and his colleagues (1, 2), discovered the first blood group system (ABO) in 1901, they observed that plasma from some individuals agglutinated the red cells from others. For the next 45 years, only those antibodies that directly agglutinate could be studied. Levine and his colleague suggested that antibody had developed during the mother pregnancy after her exposure to a foreign factor from her fetus. A year later Landsteiner and Wiener (7), discovered an antibody in the rabbits and guinea pigs sera after being injected with rhesus Macacus monkeys RBCs, they noticed that the antibody agglutinate with 85% of human RBCs. This antibody named Rh after Rhesus monkeys. Other study carried by Levine and others (8), demonstrate that Rh antibody which was described by Landsteiner and Wiener has the same specificities of the former antibody which was discovered in 1939, and they thought it was belong to the same blood group. Years later, many investigations showed that it was not the case, and each of the two antibodies belong to a different blood group. However, anti Rh name retained to the human produced antibody, and the other antibody renamed anti LW in

Sometimes it requires a little help from mama duckto boost itself up. Despite the cute and rather funny part of this picture, it is possible to learn a lot from the ducks. As the senior class this year, our class decided to bug the junior highers by forming BUG groups. BUG, standing for Buddies Under God , was designed with the purpose of leading the junior highers by example. The world and those who don t have a saving knowledge of Christ, look at the Church. The impression they should see is one that results from following Christ s example. They should see people who are full of the love of Christ. As leaders everyone should lead by example, but the example that you use must be based on the Bible. It is foolish to believe that people will want to do what they are told to do unless the leader is willing to do what he has asked of his followers. In addition to, and perhaps even more important than, leading by example is leading through serving. Servant leadership at first thought sounds like an oxymoron. Popular opinion believes that the leader is supposed to have people who serve him. But if we are to follow Christ s example we must first serve. Quite possibly the most perfect example of servant leadership is the well known story of Jesus washing his disciple s feet. The disciples were appalled that Christ would do such a thing for them because it was a servant s job and Christ was their leader. But because He washed their feet I am willing to bet that the disciple s respect for Jesus increased greatly. At the first retreat of the year our class went up a day early for a time of fellowship and

The contract will include details such as when it starts and when it ends, how much is required a month, and if need be a down payment. I think that this will generate a positive response from the public seeing as now more students will be able to handle college with the necessary technology. This is a brand extension because Best Buy currently does not partake in leasing so it will be a new sector for the company to generate income from. The target market is college students who need to purchase electronics for school. Seeing as how nowadays most students rely on their laptops for notes, important documents, and typing papers, the market is only going to grow in the future. Some professors even require students to take tests and submit homework online. Our whole lifestyle is moving toward to implementation of technology, so we believe everybody should have the opportunity to utilize it. While some kids may me more fortunate than others in terms of money, we offer the leasing solution as a way to even the playing field so that no students have an exponential advantage over others. Soon, women were successfully engaging in jobs that were once believed could only be done by men. However, once the war was over there was an expectation that women would give their jobs back to the men. With some women resisting to return to their traditional pink collar domestic, secretarial, and industrial positions, ubiquitous images of propaganda still recognized today symbolize this idea. Rosie the Riveter is a primary example as her image radiates competence and power, which were traits associated with masculinityand were not appropriate in women. As society s view on women began to change and broaden, characteristics that were stereotypically male accommodated this new idea of femininityand attractiveness. Henry Hawk s film production of The Big Sleep (Warner Brothers, 1946) and Raymond Chandler s novel, The Big Sleep highlights the changes in social construction of the portrayal of women in the form of female empowerment and its involvement in a predominately male society. It is mandatory to examine the hero and essence of masculinity, which is portrayed by Phillip Marlowe in both the novel and film versions of The Big Sleep in order to analyze changes in the perception of female femininity. Throughout Henry Hawk s 1946 film version of The Big Sleep, Marlowe s characterization as the hero of the film demonstrates standard masculine qualities of a man:

  • 32. How Keats Is Obsessed With Beauty One Must Imagine Keats Happy Keats is obsessed with beauty in his poetry. Keats always creates a a beautiful object out of some mundane and poor existence. Most notably, in Isabella, or Pot of Basil , Isabella buries the head of her lost lover, Lorenzo, inside a pot of basil. Keats approaches beauty in a way fundamentally different from Lake Poets such as Wordsworth and Coleridge. For Wordsworth, his poems will be found to carry with them a purpose (Norton, 295). Therefore, in Wordsworth s pomes beauty is secondary, and he exhibits beauty only in order to show the purpose of his poem. For instance, in Lines Written in Early Spring , the beauty of Nature described in the first five stanzas only elevates the speaker to a high enough position and hence prepares readers for the revelation of the final stanza What man has made of man (Norton, 280). For Keats, it seems that his poems do not have a purpose; if there is one, the purpose can only be Beauty, as Keats discloses in a letter to his brothers, the sense of Beauty overcomes every other consideration, or rather obliterates all consideration (Keats, 232). However, curiously Keats likes to break the beautiful object he creates in his poems. For instance, Isabella s brothers steal her pot of basil; Apollonius exorcises Lamia. In Eve of St. Agnes , although the protagonists Madeline and Porphyro escape from the fate of death, the poem still ends with the morbid deaths of Angela and the Beadsman. If Keats goal is to

While his role in the governing body makes him despise the British Empire s systematic mistreatment of its subjects, he also resents the locals because of how they torment him. Furthermore, this ambivalence shows the decline of imperialism as the narrator cannot support his own side, reflecting the corruption of the British regime. Their gleeful disrespect for the life of the animal prompts the narrator to admit: Here was I, the white man with his gun, standing in front of the unarmed native crowd seemingly the leading actor of the piece; but in reality I was only an absurd puppet pushed to and fro... As a colonial policeman, the narrator feels as though he must play a role for the Burmese people; he is not truly in control but rather following lead and desires of the natives. The true cost of white westerners conquest, Orwell is the white men s freedom. Through this interaction, the ambivalence of the narrator is expressed for he wants to gratify the Burmese people as he feels it is his duty as a colonizer, yet the action goes against his moral conduct. Furthermore he scorns the Burmese and does not want to satisfy their wicked desires. By comparing his situation to that of a performance, the narrator shows his lack of control and dominance as a British colonial

People are often characterized and assessed based on what they wear and how they present their body to the world. This notion of clothing not just being for function but also for expression dates back long before the modern age. In the early seventeenth century, for example, an artists portrayal of apparel was used as a symbol of wealth and status. The paintings Cookmaid with Still Life of Vegetables and Fruit (Figure One), Probably Mary Lady Scudamore (Figure Two), and Dudley, the 3rd Baron North (Figure Three) all depict people of different prosperity and backgrounds. The subject of the portrait, Dudley North, is pictured wearing a knee length rich black garment fully embroidered in silver thread, paired with an extravagant set of shoes. He also dons a white collar and cufflinks made of lace, paralleling those depicted in the portrait of Lady Scudamore. The color and materiality of the attire convey the elite status of Dudley. The subject of the painting was a principle courtier of James I, a role that placed him in the heart of clothing. The court members developed into models for the noble style of dress, with royalty spending thousands of pounds annually for their wardrobe. In the modern world, fashion is predominately a female dominated industry. However, in the early seventeenth century, the dress of men was of greater importance than that of woman, as aristocratic woman often lived privatized lives whereas men were more exposed to society. The fit of the male outfit also held a high significance, just as it did for the female. In the portrait, Dudley s waist is highlighted through the tight tailoring of the costume, and is enhanced by the belt that clasps his sword. The male representation of fashion was a symbol of aristocracy in seventeenth century England and was used in portraiture in order to express one s wealth, as seen through the painting of Dudley

The first known settlers of the island were a tribe of Arawak natives called the Caiquetios. These people were initially located on the South American mainland, and it is assumed that the Caiquetios migrated from Venezuela to Aruba. Due to its lack of natural resources, it can be assumed that Aruba was merely a stopover for a succession of tribes. They were a peaceful people, living under the guidance of a shaman or priest, who also served as the village chief. When the Spanish realized that the climate of Aruba was too arid for cultivation and there was little evidence of the gold they were seeking, they essentially abandoned it to the native Caiquetios for approximately 150 years, and devoted their attention to their more lucrative possessions. Some natives were brought to Spain s other islands, such as Hispaniola, to work as slaves, while others were converted to Christianity. Before long, however, the island became a concealed hide away for pirates and buccaneers who preyed on ships transporting New World goods back to Europe. At Bushiribana on the northeast coast, the ruins of an old pirate castle remain today. During this time, the Dutch and Spanish had begun their Eighty Years War, which, in 1580, resulted in the closing of Portugal s ports to Dutch navigation. The Dutch began traveling to the West Indies in search of foreign goods such as salt. Following the Spanish conquest of their base in St. Maarten, the Dutch set out looking for another place to establish a colonial presence. In 1936 they captured the islands of Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire from the Spanish who put up very little defense. The Dutch West India Company set up its administrative capital on Curaçao and formed an economic plan for its Netherlands Antilles. Throughout the three Fortunato generations, there was the desired result of a successful circus. The first Fortunato persevered through times of catastrophe and turmoil (105) and for years Horacio s grandfather bore the sole responsibility for the spectacle (105). His desire to save and maintain his circus came to the point where he had to perform almost all of the acts. However, he managed somehow to survive bad times while many other circuses succumbed and were thus obliterated(106). The first Fortunato s desire to keep his circus buoyant left him to persevere through all the hard time and come out stronger. The first Fortunato s son, Fortunato II, was left a debt free enterprise. He too persevered with an unshakable prudence and under his direction the circus grew in size and prestige until it was the largest in the nation. (105) He made it so that the enormous caravan no longer drifted aimlessly, as it had in his father s day, but steamed purposefully (106). The second Fortunato was able to make the circus a greater success. His father before him allowed him to do so through his perseverance and thus created a new, higher goal for his son to reach. Horacio, the third Fortunato, intended to be rich from the time he was a young boy (108). His goal was predetermined and he eventually lived a good life.
