Discursive Essay Samples
Crafting a discursive essay on the topic of "Discursive Essay Samples" may seem like a
paradoxical challenge. The inherent complexity lies in the need to provide a comprehensive
exploration of various perspectives while maintaining a coherent and logical structure. One must
navigate through divergent opinions, counterarguments, and diverse viewpoints, requiring a
delicate balance between presenting contrasting ideas and offering a nuanced synthesis.
To start, the writer must delve into extensive research to gather a spectrum of opinions on the
subject matter. This involves scouring through academic journals, books, and credible online
sources to acquire a nuanced understanding of the topic's multifaceted nature. The challenge
arises in synthesizing this information into a cohesive narrative that not only presents diverse
viewpoints but also establishes a clear line of reasoning.
The essay must seamlessly transition between different arguments, creating a flow that captivates
the reader's attention and sustains their interest throughout. Striking the right balance between
objectivity and persuasive language is a tightrope walk, as the writer endeavors to present a well-
rounded discussion without imposing personal bias.
Additionally, the task demands a keen awareness of potential pitfalls, such as oversimplifying
complex issues or neglecting crucial perspectives. The challenge is not merely in the presentation
of ideas but also in the meticulous analysis of each argument, providing a nuanced understanding
that transcends surface-level discussions.
Structuring the essay poses another hurdle, as the writer must decide on a coherent organization
that effectively communicates the various dimensions of the topic. This involves careful
consideration of the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, each serving a specific
purpose in the overall narrative.
In conclusion, the difficulty in writing an essay on "Discursive Essay Samples" lies in the
intricate dance between presenting diverse perspectives, maintaining a coherent structure, and
weaving a compelling narrative. It is a challenging endeavor that requires meticulous research,
analytical finesse, and a mastery of language. Yet, it is precisely these challenges that make the
process intellectually stimulating and rewarding for those willing to undertake it.

The Importance Of A Certified Nurse Midwife And An...
Obstetrics
I am interested in helping people. I believe in the well being of others and would
love to work with the miracle of life, also known as pregnancy and birth. This is
why I am looking at Obstetrics. According to webmd.com an Obstetrician is, a doctor
who specializes in pregnancy, childbirth, and a woman s reproductive system. They
take care of women during pregnancy in many ways, including monitoring the mother
s and her developing baby s health by carrying out routine ultrasounds, measurements,
and tests. As an Obstetric Doctor, my responsibilities would consist of checking for
any problems that could cause issues during a pregnancy. I would advise about diet,
exercise, medications, and other health related things, as well as ... Show more

My #2 suggestion was Athletic Trainer and my #3 was Massage Therapist. I believe
that all of these really fit me because they deal with the well being of others and
dealing with people, but have chosen to research Obstetrics because of how advanced
it is and the fact that this profession deals with babies and mothers and pregnancies,
which are all very interesting to me.
In the past, Obstetrics was carried out by the midwives. There was not much
knowledge of the advanced way we deal with complications in pregnancies back
then, therefore midwives were the pregnancy experts. In the 1300 s, the first C
section was performed on a deceased woman, to save the baby, and before the 1500
s, C sections were only performed if the mother was beyond help and almost always
resulted in the death of the mother. But as C sections became more widely
recognized in the early 1800 s, Obstetrics became the first physician specialty
recognized in the U.S. In these years, the UK and Ireland had an 80% mortality
rate for C sections. Today, 32% of deliveries are by Cesarean Section, and maternal
mortality rates are at 0 in a large series of cesareans in some settings, according to
nih.gov. This is good, and by the looks of it these numbers will be increasingly
common as medical strategies are improved. Additionally, the Pap smear was not
discovered until 1923 by a man named Georgios Nicholas Papanikolaou, M.D., Ph.D.

The Negative Impact Of Technology In The United States
With one click of a button, technology has allowed the world to communicate with
people several thousand miles away in just a few seconds. Advancements in
technology have a positive impact on the way people live around the world; the
innovations and integrations of technology has allowed almost anyone to do almost
anything. The world has become extremely dependent on technology, which creates a
high demand for advancements that positively change the way of living, especially
the way of communication, for everyone. Globalization and connectivity through
technology has allowed for friends and family to visually communicate with each
other through video calling programs, the conducting of businesses internationally,
and for medical assistance around the world.
The internet creates an alternative way for family and friends to visually
communicate abroad. Video chat programs such as Skype and FaceTime are used
by millions of people to chat with friends and family. If a parent is on a business trip
or even away in the military, Skype or FaceTime gives families the opportunities ...

Companies are able have global video conferences and organize deals and sales
half way around the world via videoconferencing. Not only does technology
improve the ways of connectivity, but it has also made information easily accessible
and has allowed files to be shared through e mail and edited on a separate device.
Although the concept of outsourcing is highly controversial in the United States, in
the long run, technology has helped word wide businesses save a great amount of
money by outsourcing jobs internationally. Many businesses outsource jobs related to
customer service and have employees from various countries speak on the phone to
assist their customers, who are many times, more than a few thousand miles away.
From a professional point of view, the internet and technology have paved a way for
success in the business
Prospero The Oppressor
Shakespeare uses Prospero as the oppressor which represents the British Empire
that successfully colonized 25 percent of the world. Prospero was originally the
Duke of Milan until he was betrayed and banished by his brother to a remote island.
Being someone of high status, everything has been done for him back in Milan; now
that he s on his own, he heavily relies to Calibanto ensure his their survival by letting

The Presidency Of Bill Clinton
The presidency of Bill Clinton is not too simple to forget. The 42th president is
memorable in a variety of aspects. Bill Clinton, born in August, 1949, was ready
for political world at 17 when he shook president John F. Kennedy s hand on a trip
to DC. After five terms as governor of Arkansas, he knew that his aspiration one
day to be president could happen, but he must work hard. After some time, Clinton
became governor of Arkansas while working closely with his wife. He was often
ridiculed for his youth and political inexperience, but Clinton was able to prove his
critics wrong he decided to run for president in 1992. Bill Clintonbecame president of
the United Statesof America and served two terms. Clinton won the heart of many...

In his first term, Clinton had a somewhat moderate relationship with the media. He
was criticized for some of his decisions, but overall it was a typical president versus
media relationship, until his second term. In 1998, the media coverage of Bill
Clinton went from mild to extremely harsh when the Lewinsky scandal emerged.
The press was strident when it came to finding information about the sex scandal.
Reports would surround Clinton and the first lady trying to oust comments out of
them. However, this did not get worse until the president lied under oath with his
famous line, I did not have sexual relations with that woman... , and the president
was impeached. The press had a field day by making jokes, and over analyzing
every little thing the president did. Overall, Bill Clinton and the media did not
have a harmonious relationship and still do not to this day. In the first year of
Clinton s presidency, he was able to entice Congress to get some of the things done
that he promised in his campaign. Clinton was able to persuade them to raise taxes
on the wealthy. He was able to wheedle the Senate to ratify the North American
Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which helped create thousands of jobs. He was
also able to convince them to pass bills to aid parents and to combat violent crime.
Clinton was able to fulfill some of the promises of his campaign in that first year, and
his relationship with Congress was simply Clinton persuading both houses. However,

Second Edition Of The Critique Of Pure Reason
INTRODUCTION In the second edition of the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant
refutes claims that his work purports to a form of idealism such as the views
provided by Descartes and Berkeley. In the section titled the Refutation of Idealism,
he addresses two types of idealism. Kant states, Idealism (I mean material idealism)
is the theory that declares the existence of objects in space outside us to be either
merely doubtful and indemonstrable, or else false and impossible; the former is the
problematic idealism of Descartes, who declares only one empirical assertion,
namely I am, to be indubitable; the latter is the dogmatic idealism of Berkeley (B
274). In order to refute Descartes problematic idealism , Kant turns the game played
by idealism against itself by reversing the assumption that immediate experience is...

The proof given by the First Analogy provides the foundation for this premise. In
light of the fact that Kant is providing a transcendental argument as proof for an
external world, we see here that by starting with the obvious, premise (1), Kant seeks
to establish the conditions necessary for the possibility of time determinations.
Correspondingly, Premise (2) asserts that something persistent in perception is
necessary for all temporal relations, unity of apperception and a fortiori, self
consciousness. Moreover, this persisting thing is the substance of the first analogy. In
the first analogy Kant concludes: Change can only be perceived through that which
persists and its alteration. For the difference of the times in which things are can only
be perceived in them as parts of one and the same time. All change is only the division
of time. Hence there must be something that exists throughout the entire time since
the whole is always the ground of the division. Hence substance is the substratum,
and that which is changing is only the way in which this exists (A
Argumentative Essay On Animal Assisted Therapy
Man s Best Friend... and Therapist Animal assisted therapy is used in hospitals and
colleges throughout the United States and all around the world . Dogs, cats, fish,
birds and many other types of animals are used to help calm people and bring them
a sense of companionship. The animals also provide unconditional love for people
who feel depressed and alone. Some doctors may oppose this type of therapybecause
they do not believe that it actually helps patients, but studies throughout the years
have shown that this can be the best option for students in college and patients that
are terminally ill. Statistics have shown that animal assisted therapy is one of the best
options of therapy for people who struggle with depression, anxiety, stress, and many
other mental illnesses. This type of therapy can also help with physical ailments.
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) has been proven to be beneficial to a multitude of
people in many different situations. One of the main reasons that Animal Assisted
Therapy is so important and beneficial is because it has been proven to lower blood
pressure in adults and adolescents. After spending just 12 minutes with a therapy
animal, a study showed that the adults participating in this project experienced a
drop in numbers of their blood pressure. The adults also reported that they had a 24
percent decrease in their anxiety levels. Researchers also proved that the harmful
toxins in the subjects bodies decreased by a very significant amount
North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart
Performed by North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart is a song of contrast.
Contrast between complex and straightforward, and bright and dark, both in the
instrumentation and lyrical content. It is inside of these contrasts that the listener can
begin to understand the song s political message.
Beginning with sudden, energetic burst of violins, piano, electric guitar, electric bass,
and a drum kit, the song s intro is heavily syncopated and rhythmically varied. After
a short call and response section between the piano and rest of the band, every
instrument in unison performs a rising, 8th note riff that connects to the verse. It is
here when the vocals come in where the intro s powerful energy slides into a less
driving, more mellow mood. The intro grabs the listener s attention, but once the
lyrics come in the music slides back to allow the singer to be dominant.
Rhythmical, the core of My Heart lies in the 4/4 time signature with emphasis on the
backbeat. While the bass sticks to hitting quarter notes with the drums, guitar and
piano provide syncopation in the verses by playing on the offbeats. Together with a
tempo that comfortably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the lyrics do not shy away from displaying the political message outright, the
music also carries this message. By utilizing contrasting elements, such as the march
like beat with sudden, syncopated moments, and the bright instrumentation with dark
harmonics, My Heart could be interpreted as a battle between opposing forces, and
calling on the North Korean citizens to stand up and back their country in order to
win any upcoming conflicts. The song feels like a march, further elevating its
political, militaristic message. The lyrics talk about giving everything to the country,
and the dark chords and rich backing vocals give these lyrics a dramatic weight that
could help persuade listeners to follow the narrator s example of

Knights Of Labor In The Late 1800s
The late 1800 s were a time in American history where the country saw tremendous
economic growth. Big businesses ran the country and even held power over the
government. According to Howard Zinn s A People s History of the United States,
the government took bribes from business leaders. These bribes allowed the big
businesses to take advantage of workers. Laborers at the time we faced with
extremely long work hours and very little pay. In hopes of reversing their luck,
many workers took to strikes and riots to get what they wanted. However, the big
business friendly government put an end to many of these occurrences. Due to the
fact that America was run by a government bribed by big business, workers received
low wages as well as unhealthy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many had to work from dawn until dusk and barely got to see their families. In the
spring of 1866, a group of three hundred fifty thousand workers went on strike in
hopes of an eight hour work day. Throughout cities all over the country large
groups of strikers took to the street. In New York, twenty five thousand people
marched down Broadway all in hope of a shorter work day. The biggest effect of
the strike took place in Chicago. With forty thousand strikers, every railroad,
stockyard and many businesses were forced to close. Unlike most strikes against
big business, many people did receive what they had asked for. In fact, forty five
thousand people were given the eight hour work day just to not strike. The meer
numbers of this strike truly speak to how desperate workers were of shorter work
days. However, big business did not care the only thing on their mind was money.
The only reason many of these workers received their demand were due to the fact
that business would lose more in a few days of shut down as compared to 2 hours
less work a day. Another example of how work hours affected the poor was
described by Morris Rosenfeld as, I have a little boy at home... A stranger I am to
my child; and a stranger my child is to me. This excerpt from his poem entitled My
Boy shows how due to the long work hours, many parents were not home enough to
raise their children. However, this was the least of
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hosting
Introduction Hosting has become a method to connect our world. It is a means for
those in need of a website to get their products and services marketed to a much
wider and global target audience. Because of its popularity there are many
different platforms, applications and different kinds of packages available for one
to use, should they want to start a website and online business. The cheapest is
shared hosting which allows you to share a server with multiple other websites
that share the servers resources. The one that tends to be most expensive is
dedicated server hosting with which you would be leasing a server for your own
use. You do not share this server and you have the use of all the server s resources
at your disposal. You also have the choice of operating system to use. You can use
either Windows or Linux. Windows is generally more expensive as it is paid
software meaning you have to buy a license in order to use it. Linux on the other
hand is cheaper. The operating system has multiple versions called distributions that
are many times free as this operating system is open source. Linux is credited as
being more flexible and more customizable. Many website developers also believe it
to be more secure and reliable than Windows. In fact most recommend using Linux
unless you have Windows specific... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hosting is when a hosting provider leases out a portion of its servers or cloud to
clients who then run their websites. This means that the host upkeeps and
maintains the server and makes sure that any server related issues are taken care
of. It is for this reason that they employ a staff of server administrators to look after
the servers and in so doing look after the websites of their clients. This symbiotic
relationship is highly advantageous both the host and client as the host gets an
income and the client gets the use of server at a far cheaper price and headache than
if they bought a

Assassin s Creed Essay
While it does not come out until December, Assassin s Creed is one of the most
anticipated films of the year. According to the Director Justin Kurzel, they tried to
film As much as possible in reality. This means less CGI and more real stunts. In the
recently released stunt featurette entitled Assassin s Creed: The Leap of Faith, we get
to see idea first hand.
In the movie, Michael Fassbender s character Callum Lynch / Aguilar is trapped a
must perform a Leap of Faith from 125 feet off the ground. Producer Patrick

so we will do it for real. Says Crowley. The Damien he is referring to is Damien
Walters, who stunt doubles for Fassbender in the film.
In the video below, Walters and the crew discuss and then Damien executes
multiple falls from various heights starting at 70 ft, then 90 ft and finally
performing the tallest at 125 ft. The bag Walters landed in is 10m by 10m or

There Will Be Blood
There Will be Blood was released in 2007. The director and the screenwriter was
by Paul Thomas Anderson. Some of the tremendous actors in this movie are,
Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano, and Dillon Freasier. I would say this movie really
set the tone for the American dream, even though it wasn t really thought of during
the movie s time period. It really shows hard work, greed, lust, and trickery.
Overall this is a good movie, with a very slow start. It is filled with drama,
mystery, and action. If you are for those kinds of films this movie is right up your
alley. This movie is more of an action, drama, and mystery film. You never know
what will be happening next. The film is filled with small hints, to where you have to

Developments Of Recording Technology During The 20th
Century
Developments in recording technology in the 20th century brought an extensive
increase in the variety of music that people had access to. It also played a major role
in how music could be heard. These inventions gifted the public with new ways that
music could be enjoyed more easily and more often. It also influenced composers to
experiment with new genres and styles. One aspect that was provided to the public
through inventions and developments in musictechnology was a major convenience.
They no loner needed to leave the comfort of their home to spend money on a live
performance. One particular inventionthat pushed this development was the radio.
This invention was the first known device to allow mass communication; not only
nationally, but internationally as well (Wyman). As early as the 1800 s, multiple
people began experimenting with wireless signals and communication (CITE). In
1910, this wireless system developed to be referred to as the name radio (CITE).
However, it wasn t until 1920 that the first radio station in the US arose (CITE). The
radio was mainly used for news at first; but within the next couple of years as more
radio stations popped up, music became prominent on the radio. Another invention
that played a major role in how people heard music in the 20th centuryis the
gramophone; also known as the phonograph. The phonograph was a disc used as the
primary medium for music reproduction until late in 20th century (CITE). The
phonograph was invented by

The World Is Too Much With Us Figurative Language Essay
In the poems The World Is Too Much with Us , written by William Wordsworth, and
the poem written in reply to Wordsworth s poem titled To Wordsworth , by Percy
Bysshe Shelley, both refer to nature throughout their poems. The themes of their
poems are different, but the poets use similar figurative language in their writing. In
the poem The World Is Too Much with Us , written by William Wordsworth
, the
theme of the poem is how humans used to pay so much attention to nature, but no
longer do. Wordsworth begins to refer to this change when he says, This Sea that
bares her bosom to the moon, The winds that will be howling at all hours (Lines 5
/6). Wordsworth uses personification when he says that the sea bared her bosom and
when he says that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also says that the winds were once howling, which indicates that the winds were
impossible to not notice. Wordsworth then concludes his statement when he says,
And are up gathered now like sleeping flowers (Line 7). Wordsworth uses this
simile to compare the previous views of nature, to the current views. Humans used
to pay so much attention to nature, but now nature does not matter to them. Just as
if they were sleeping flowers that nobody cares about anymore. Wordsworth then
alludes to Greek gods such as Proteus and Triton in his poem when he says, Have
glimpses that would make me less forlorn; Have sight of Proteus rising from the
sea; Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn (Line 12/13/14). Wordsworth s
reference to the two sea gods shows his desire to have humans go back to the days
where they worshiped nature. He wants to see the two see gods so that it can make
him feel happier. The theme of Shelley s poem is similar to Wordsworth s poem, but
also different. Shelley argues that while humans have ignored nature, it is not their
fault. He also insinuates that he disagrees with Wordsworth s

Constitution, political democracy, individual liberty, and equality of economic

In light of the following documents and your knowledge of the 1820 s and 1830 s, to
what extent do you agree with the Jacksonians view of themselves?
Andrew Jackson began a whole new era in American history. Amongst his greatest
accomplishments were evoking the common man to be interested in government and
tailoring democracy to satisfy the same common man s needs. Of course, Jackson
could not go about making such radical changes without supporters, but that never
surfaced as a problem. Jacksonian Democrats, as they came to be called, were great in

The Jacksonians arose from these issues and others, as is evidenced in writings of
the time, such as The Working Men s Declaration of Independence by George Henry
Evans. They began to call the public s attention to an oppression by the upper class
through many different issues of the time, which was looked down upon by some,
such as Daniel Webster in response to Jackson s bank veto. This dealt with the Bank
War which was the primary economic dealing of the time in which President Jackson
vetoed the recharter of the Bank of the United States. He did so because he found
the bank unconstitutional and thought that it was a near monopoly that only
benefited the rich. This stirred public support and brought the class issue to the
forefront for many people. Although some looked upon Jackson s decision on the
Bank as a bad one, the Jacksonians supported him because they saw it as an attempt
to support equality and eliminate a monopoly in the hands of the elite rich. Another
such instance that dealt with monopoly and equality of economic opportunity was
the Charles River Bridge v. Warren Bridge case in 1837. In it, Chief Justice Taney
ruled that new enterprises could not be confined by the implied privileges of old
charters, in an effort to allow for competition and free enterprise. Political democracy
was one of the resurfacing interests during the Jacksonian Era. Jacksonian Democrats
saw it as their duty to protect the government run

keep you on your feet. This book is about a Phantom, who has been told for doing
horrible things inside the opera house in Paris. Many tragedies happen and everyone
flees from fear. No one believes anyone about this ghost, there is only one person in
the opera house who knows the real truth.
Gaston Leroux s novel starts out with a scene in the opera house. Christine Daae
was singing on the stage, and afterwards the managers were going to have a party,
because it was their last night at the opera house. Christine happens to be the
protagonist of the book. Christine fainted in the middle of her show and was
dragged off stage like she saw a ghost. Raoul, has a crush on Christine and wants to
talk to her and get to know her. Christine was in her dressing room and wanted to be
left alone. Soon after this, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The revolving mirror completed its circle and the two men held their breath. They
were still trying to find Christine, by going to every cellar. The third cellar was the
monster s home. They finally reached the third cellar and it was lit very dimly. Next,
the Foreign Stranger led Raoul down two staircases to the fifth cellar, because they
thought they heard something. A flaming head was following them as they started to

Social Worker Reflection
In Chapter 1 of Social Welfare in Canadian Society there is a section focusing on
social welfare programs and services. While reflecting on this section I examined the
importance of the ideas discussed and how they will contribute to my future as a
social worker. As a social worker, I will be exposed to the social welfareprograms and
services. Being familiar with the programs and services will be beneficial to
myself as a future social worker. While being familiar with these programs and
services will prepare me for future contact with them, it will also give myself an
idea of what services and programs I believe work and which ones I recommend
could use some improvements by looking at them critically. Being critical is
important as a social worker due to critical thinking can lead to positive change.
Before reviewing the section on social welfare services and programs I had a general
understanding of the various types of services (targeted cash transfers, universal cash
transfers, contributory programs and tax relief programs). However, after reading the
textbook I gained a more detailed understanding of the program goals and
descriptions. I was also familiar with the financial eligibility tests, which include:
income tests, needs tests, and asset tests.
Reflecting on the section and what I learned, a few questions came to mind. I could
not help but wonder how effective the various programs truly are. Are they meeting
the needs they set out to need? I also wonder if when
The Complexity And National Significance Of The D.c
ral circuit court of appeal.
The complexity and national significance of the D.C. Circuit s docket is, at least in
part, due to Congress s various and diverse grants of subject matter jurisdiction.
Fraser et al. combed the United States Code to discover that 150 statutes contain the
words D.C. Circuit, and at least 130 of these statutes are grants of jurisdiction. This
latter figure includes at least 43 grants of exclusive jurisdiction to the D.C. Circuit in
eight titles.
Regarding the type of agency action the D.C. Circuit is granted jurisdiction to review,
grants of jurisdiction are equally diverse. Congress has specifically granted the D.C.
Circuit jurisdiction to review two licensing provisions, thirty five provisions of fines
or penalties, twenty four rulemaking provisions, and twenty six other adjudications.
B.The D.C. Circuit s Importance to Administrative Law
Because the federal government s myriad agencies are headquartered in Washington,
D.C., the rules of personal jurisdiction render the D.C. Circuit a forum for many anti
fraud suits against government contractors. For instance, under the False Claims Acct
(FCA), a suit may be filed in any United States judicial district in which at least one
of the named defendants to the suit can be found, resides, transacts business, or has
made false claims to the government as proscribed in the FCA. Any corporate
defendant headquartered Washington, D.C. is therefore within the personal
jurisdiction of
Cracker Jack Case Analysis
Case Recap
The primary reason for the Borden Foods to divert itself from snacks is to
emphasis its efforts and resources in the growth of their whole wheat meal
segments. Because of this valuation they had and a growth plan they had they
decided to announce sale of Cracker Jack in 1997. The management team of
Broaden also recognized that with the increase in competition they have not been
able to successfully grow the sales figure in past five years. Also because the
Cracker Jack brand has various packaging options and has been maintaining a huge
product line of 32 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs). However, currently Broaden

Cracker Jacks sales will represent a tiny part of the Frito Lay s business currently,
however the chances are high to get the numbers high from this division if proper
decisions are made. Frito Lay is the leader in the US market concerning market share
and sales volume. So they can use their advertising and marketing experience to uplift
CJ. CJ should be marketed as a stackable treat which is healthy as of natural
ingredients like popcorn. Marketing researchers should focus on the small children
as the target market as well. By launching the different sizes and convenient
packages to the customers so that they can grab it and go rather than having a box.
The CJ should be made available to as many stores as possible by utilizing the
same direct store delivery channels. A careful analysis has to be done to change any
features like gifts in each bag and the flavor of the CJ, because that is the major point
of CJ and most of the customers are attracted because of that particular features.
Recommendation
In my opinion the Borden Foods will sell the company for above 30 million dollars
based on the assets it has and the goodwill for the year ending 1996. However the
Frito Lay should only pay around 25 million dollars for acquisitions of the company.

Conflict And Social Behavior Perspective
Introduction This paper will show how conflict and social behavior perspective
play an important role in Dasani s life (Hutchinson, 2015). The reader will have a
better understanding of the perspective through examples in Dasani s life. This paper
will conclude with a reflection of the writer s future profession in the social work
field.
Conflict Perspective Defined Conflict perspective is seen through the lens of
someone who has power and seeks to oppress people with less power, sometime
through discrimination or control (Hutchinson, 2015). Individuals who are not in the
social work field would automatically assume that the conflict involves a dispute
between two individuals. An issue with conflict perspective is that it has the ... Show

Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which
learning occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and
cognitive social learning theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often
associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s experiment with the salivating dog
(Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the dog to associate
food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung
even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior
as the result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate
positive reinforcements with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a
behavior more. Negative reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and
this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states
that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation
of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning
theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow
through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a
change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015).
Dasani s conflict Perspective A reoccurring conflict throughout this case assessment is
the mayor s ignorance to the policies that he is

#1) (A) Issac Newton s Law of Universal Gravitation is: Two bodies attracted to
each other with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and
inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This means that
the further apart these two attracting bodies are from each other, the less the
gravitational force between them is. The force of gravity depends on the product of
the mass of the two attracting bodies. If the distance between the two bodies doubles,
the force between them becomes one quarter of the force it was before.

Opaque: when some wavelengths of light can t pass through the lens, visible light is
dimmed when it passes through, and the lens absorbs ultraviolet radiation.
The reflecting telescope was helpful in solving some of these problems because
they use mirrors with top coated surfaces which light does not enter. Mirrors don t
sag because they can easily be supported unlike heavy lenses. Since light doesn t
enter the mirror, the problems of different wavelengths, chromatic aberration and
opaque do not occur. However, spherical aberration can still occur because when
light enters a telescope with a spherical mirror at different distances from the
mirror s center, the light comes into focus at different focal lengths. One other
main problem with reflecting telescopes is that they block out about ten percent of
light attracted by the primary mirror. They are still the preferred telescopes to use.
(B) I would build a reflecting telescope. I would want the mirror to be F/15, 800 at

collect light to a point and then reflect it to a secondary mirror. I would turn the

Role and Function of Personnel Departments and Ways to...
Evaluation of the role and function of personnel departments within organizations and
discussion of ways to improve their strategic value to the organization.
Role of HR Departments
The HR model of the four HRM perspectives devised by Ulrich helps clarify the role
of Personnel Departments (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 75).
Strategic Partner
As Strategic Partner the HR Department creates an appropriate organisational
architecture with the target of achieving a match between factors such as culture and
work processes and the organisation s strategic goals. The focus is on results
orientation and performance enhancement (University of Sunderland 2004, pp. 75,

change agent). It is vital for corporate success that all four roles are considered as
equally important.
Problems, however, might not only arise because of operational and strategic
processes. The department also has to manage to align processes and people because
both factors equally contribute to the success of the HR Department and the
organisation.
Another critical point is that the HR role and activities are very comprehensive and
complex, maybe too comprehensive for one department, as it might be possible to
lose control over all the different processes.
HR Functions and Evaluation
HR policy formulation
The Personnel Department formulates strategic HR policy, bearing in mind the
overall organisational context (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 84).
If properly devised, HR policy formulation can make an essential contribution to
corporate success. However, it has to be considered that if the department devises a
wrong strategy it could slow down corporate development and thus future corporate
success.
Planning
This activity comprises HR planning, recruitment and workforce planning and work
organisation (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 84).
A problem area is that future development and corporate needs might be difficult to
estimate. This means that planning could be totally wrong and objectives could not
be achieved, which would also result in high costs.

In the beginning of Little Miss Sunshine, the family faces the issue of not agreeing
on a plan for their trip to Olive s pageant. This is because Richard doubts the
journey by asking How re you gonna get down there (Arndt 22). This brings a
faulty start in the initiation of the journey since the hero archetype character is
hesitant in continuing his quest. It is the same when Jewel, the hero in As I Lay
Dying, is unsure of the situation with Addie s death. Little Miss Sunshine also
introduces a minor conflict that is within a character. Specifically, this issue in the
characteristics of one the archetypal character is the ignorance of both Richard and
Jewel. Richard is obsessed with his nine steps to success, so he is blinded by his
motto Winners see what they want, they go out and they get it (Arndt 2). However,
it is ironic because Richard hides his failures through excuses, through his ignorance
and inability to accept reality. This can be interpreted as a similar conflict in that
Jewel is blinded by his love for his horse Both heroes struggle with their own inner
conflicts, yet in the end they manage to overcome these minor obstacles in
themselves. This allows the journey to be

Theme Of Racism In Othello
In the mid 1600s, England went through a time called Elizabethan Era. During this
time, racism was common. People of color were called savage. However, in
Othello by William Shakespeare, had issues about race. Throughout the play, we see
a difficult relation between Othello, a black man, Desdemona, a white woman and
the everyone. They weren t happy that Desdemona and Othello were together. The
crime that was committed by Othello was called a pressure group because he was
pressured by Iago words. However, in order to understand the racial issues, we should
know about the Elizabethan attitude to the black people. Othello is a Moor. He
moved from a white Venetian group to a terrible breakdown. One of the main cause
of hatred in England, shows how people of color were treated like back then. Other
main cause was what the white peopletreated other racelike. All members of each
race have characteristics, talents, or assets. It is described as discrimination or
prejudice that is led against someone who fits in a different race. If someone
discriminates someone that is because of their ethnicity and race. As we know racism
is presented throughout the play in William Shakespeare s Othello. According to
Rudolph Shaw, about mid sixteenth century, the English met with Africans. The
Native West Africans appeared first in London. Blacks were a very noticeable in
Shakespeare s London. Europeans considered that African men are barbaric, illiterate,

Analysis Of The One With Five Steaks And The Simpsons
The culture of America was transforming by the end of the twentieth century, and
series like Seinfeld and The Simpsons were transcending television through creative
storylines and outstanding comedy. In the year 1994, CNN introduced the new, hit
sitcom Friends; the show followed six 20 to 30 year old friendslives in Manhattan and
captured an upcoming generation by storm. The idea of friends learning to support
one another through professional and private conflict appealed to the masses.
Everyone tuned in each Thursday night and became attached to one of the show s
empathetic characters: insipid Ross, irresolute Rachel, vacuous Joey, bubbly Phoebe,
irritable Chandler, and imperious Monica. Its popularity only grew through each new
season as the actors and actresses developed from unknowns into national television
stars. The One with Five Steaks and an Eggplant in season two exemplifies the show
s ability to influence and reflect a country s culture through its emotional storylines,
comedic drama, and relatable characters.
In the episode, Ross s birthday is coming up, and the group is planning something
special for the event. They agree on a gift, cake, and tickets to the upcoming Hootie
and the Blowfish concert. It will cost each person sixty two dollars, but Rachel,
Joey, and Phoebe each receive a lower income than the other members of the group;
the extravagant lifestyles of their friends begins to become an issue. Meanwhile,
Chandler is receiving calls from a woman

The Common Relations Of Slavery And The Civil War Essay
The common relations of slavery are between slavery and the Civil War. Most
would argue that slavery ended in 1865. With this standpoint, we often brush off or
neglect to further investigate slavery in its most modern forms. Over the course of
history, there are few times we can truly say a social problem was completely solved.
Starvation still exists, as does poverty, racism, war, segregation, injustice within
government systems, and yes, even slavery. Human traffickingis modern day slavery,
and it exists everywhere with two different categories: sex exploitation and labor
exploitation. Humantrafficking is not new, but what is new is the volume of
trafficking taking place, and how little we know about it. How can a problem, so
monstrous and so widespread continue with most society being unaware of its
existence? The 1800 s, and even years prior, were a period of unfathomable abuse
towards people considered less than. The 21st century is also a period of
unfathomable abuse towards people considered commodities. Now the common
place relation between slavery and the civil war must be over, because the monster
of modern day slavery has awoken. Human trafficking has key components and facts,
such as the staggering numbers of victims. The official definition of human
trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced
labor or commercial sexual exploitation (Dictionary.com). Per the United Nations
Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), trafficking

Addicks Park Ten Research Paper

Houstonians who want both the perks of an urban environment and the know your

According to the Texas State Historical Association, this neighborhood has been
called by several names throughout the years, with the most notable besides
Addicks, being Bear Creek (which is the name of a nearby area). Addicks has also
worn several hats when it comes to its settlement. First, German immigrants settled
the area at around 1850, as they did with several nearby towns, but it was as a

Prohibition and Al Capone
Out of the turmoil and the collapse of law and order in the 1920 s, perhaps the
most recognized figure to emerge from the time is Al Capone. The New York
Times said of Al Capone that he was the symbol of a shameful era, the monstrous
symptom of a disease which was eating into the conscience of America. Looking
back on it now, this period of Prohibition in full, ugly flower seems fantastically
incredible. Capone himself was incredible, the creation of an ugly dream .
(www.umich.edu) He impacted society through his ruthless tactics, secret alliances,
and penetrant for violence typified by the St. Valentine s Day massacre. Capone
controlled many businesses in Chicago such as speakeasies, gambling houses,
brothels, horse and race tracks, etc. at an approximated income of $100,000,000 a
year. For several years, Al Caponewas never convicted for the crimes he committed,
and when he did, he had an alibi or there was never sufficient evidence against him.
Al Capone had more power in society than most of the political leaders did during
that time period. It took Al Capone his whole life to achieve the power he had in
the Roaring 20 s. Alphonsus Capone, best known as Al Capone, was born on
January 17, 1899 in Brooklyn New York. At the age of fourteen, he dropped out of
school and became a member of the Five Point Gangin Manhattan. He started to
work at a Brooklyn bar called the Harvard Inn, and this is when Al Capone received
his nickname Scarface after being in a fight.

throughout the novel to represent Zeena s presence which is why he dragged himself
wearily to his feet (Wharton 71) as a reaction to the smell.
Concerning the aspects of both freedom and isolation, Wharton made the decision
to choose birds and a domestic cat for a specific reason. According to Setting and
Symbolism , References to trees, birds, and mice, therefore, are all image patterns
connecting Mattie, and Ethan s love for her, with the natural freedom of the
outdoors. In contrast, and a natural enemy to both birds and mice, is Zeena s
domestic cat. (Springer 8). So, as you can see, these two animals were chosen to
show that Zeena will always have the upperhand on Mattie and Ethan can t do
anything to stop it. In nature, you can t stop an animal from killing another because
that is how they survive and that is life. In a similar scenario, Ethan has no control
on what Zeena does because she has appropriated the role as the head of the
household and, essentially, controls Mattie s every move. Regarding this facet of
isolation versus freedom, the reader can see how Ethan psychologically has
associated Mattie with the things he desires to have and Zeena with the things he
desires to escape. Following this concept, Wharton uses the environment to express
Ethan s psychological state of mind. The story takes place in an isolated town covered
in snow which becomes one of the main contributors to Ethan s misery. In the novel,
Wharton uses winter as the key to Ethan s isolation,
After the funeral, when he saw her preparing to go away, he was seized with an
unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm; and before he knew what he was
doing he had asked her to stay there with him. He had often thought since that it
would not have happened if his mother had died in spring instead of winter. (Wharton
41).
This quote brings up the idea of how the season of winter is what isolated him to a
point where people question that ... he s been in Starkfield too many winters. Most
of the smart ones get away. (Wharton 5). As the novel progresses, this brutal climate
also develop characteristics, warm and happy or cold and miserable,

RE: NASA Performance Relative to EROW and Strategic Differences In the Rubber
Industry
Executive Summary
This report seeks to explain the key differences between the NASA (North American
South American) and EROW (Europe and rest of world) sales performance over the
past nine months. There are several reasons causing the sales performance figures
currently stemming from NASA to be incomparable with the EROW numbers,
including the current practice of transferring large quantities of regular butyl rubber
from the Sarnia to the Antwerp production facilities. As Polysar operates globally, it
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to an unfair representation of profitability for the two cost centers. In terms
of which to use for Polysar Limited s Rubber Segment, setting prices at cost hereby
benefits the EROW center, whereas using market price would benefit the NASA
segment. This is because then NASA is recording revenue for the units transferred,
whereas EROW will not, (provided that the prices in both markets are similar
international arbitrage). With Polysar s company wide profitability in mind, as well
as spirit of fairness in representation for both segments using a de centralized
approach, our recommendation is the use of negotiated transfer pricing. This occurs
when the NASA and EROW segments collaborate to agree on a selling/purchasing
price for the internationally transferred butyl supply. Implementing this will cause
both segments to have better information of the costs and benefits associated with the
transfer. To narrow down on what this transfer price should specifically be, a range of
acceptable transfer prices will provide an estimate. _______________ As this is an
international transfer, there are even more considerations that become relevant. For
example, the corporate tax rate applied in North American versus Europe should be
considered. Furthermore, management should look
A New Picture Archiving Communications Systems ( Pacs )...
Challenge the Vendor As a member of an organization acquiring a new Picture
Archiving Communications Systems (PACS) software, it is imperative to make
certain of several vendor challenges that sales representatives won t address in depth.
With PACS applications there are continuous challenges because of the complexity
and constant evolving technology in the Imaging sector of health care. Particularly,
there are three encounters which I will address that a PACS vendor may not identify
the imperfections of their application. Primarily integration capabilities are huge to
countless in Imaging, as most PACS software s struggle to be well matched with the
Radiology Information System or the Health Information System. It is essential for
the PACS application being purchased have a platform that is compatible with the
software s already within the organization in order for the workflow to be efficient.
Another topic vendors tend to breeze over are downtimes and how often they may
occur. Although downtimes shouldn t occur frequently the departments need to be
established and up to date on downtime scenarios, which the vendor should provide
support for 24/7. In addition the vendor should have solutions in order to make sure
the departments are fully functional even during a downtime scenario. Lastly,
interoperability concerns are a major factor as healthcare enhances and is improving.
Imaging plays the center role to a patient s continuous care and better outcomes.

Harry In Micheal Crichton s Sphere
In the novel quot;Sphere by Micheal Crichton, it entails of a psychatrist sent to the
underwater site of a quot;plane crash quot; where they later find the craft is from the
future or a alien power. Once they later inspect the ship more they see that it contains
a sphere like object that has the power to manifest the thoughts (or in the crew apos;s
case nightmares) of whoever interacted and went inside of it.
Although this novel is, of course, a science fiction, it does possess some biological
facts. Small details such as the stings of jellyfish venomous stings killing their crew
member, a cold water rush having the ability to kill Norman, a series of glasses
breaking around Norman once the oxygen was removed from the room, not being ...

Though these are just details these are some things that i noticed that were left in the
novel and not brought into the movie. In the novel the ship was attacked multiple
times by a squid were in the movie they only showed one attack. They also removed
some fun from the novel too because the reader was allowed to figure the code out
but in the movie Harry solved the code all by himself. Even the characters main story
points were changed like how Beth was left conscious and only anxious when she set
the bomb but in the novel she was unconcious not allowing them to change the time
setting. But even though they had many differences they kept some parts similar like
they both included the code, destruction of habitats, and forgetting completely about
the bomb.
This novel gave inspiration for some technology that can be made in the future such a
deep submarines which were fiction around the time the novel was written but later
were adopted for normal use. This novel presents inventions that i believe will be
normalized in thr future such as underwater
Informative Speech On Aorta
Definition
The aorta is the largest artery of the body. Its job is to disperse blood to smaller
arteries to be sure all of the parts of the body receive an efficient supply of well
oxygenated blood. This artery connects to the aortic valve of the heart. This valve
opens and closes, so blood can leave the heart. It has to close completely and open
widely for the right amount of blood to be able to flow through. If there are any
problems with it, and it can t push through blood from the aorta, a person might end
up needing aortic valve replacement surgery.
Symptoms
The symptoms of problems with the aortic valve are similar to that of a heart attack.
There is chest pain and pressure that some describe as feeling like the heart is being
squeezed. The heart might also have a sensation of fullness that seems different, and
the left arm might also go numb. Some of the other symptoms include:
Breaking out in a cold sweat
Shortness of breath
Nausea
Vomiting
Treatment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, a cardiologist will determine how serious a person s condition is. Sometimes,
the problem is minor, and it can be repaired. But, if the aortic valve has completely
stopped functioning, then surgery must be done quickly to keep the person alive.
This usually requires a complete replacement of the valve with either a donated
human aortic valve, a patient s own pulmonary valve, or a pig or cow heart valve.
The surgery is tedious and stressful on the body, and unfortunately, the heart valve
will wear out over time. Because of this, mechanical aortic valves are usually used on
younger patients, so they don t have to go through the painful surgery again later
The Early Years Of The American Civil War
The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same
attention from historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact,
only slavery and sectionalism, the leading causes of the American Civil War, have
been consistently covered in much of the historical study of the first half of the
nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I spent time
with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained
standard bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly
nonexistent. This seems especially true of the studies that attempt to bring together
the various elements in a manner that creates a big picture of the time period.
Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty years and
perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into
a coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story,
but to put their story back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when
pieced together, accomplish this to some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it
does not, nor were the majority of the authors intending too, create a complete picture
of what America was like in the early nineteenth century. The first historian to attempt
an overarching theme of the west was Frederick Jackson Turnerin his Significance of
the Frontierin American History. For years, Turner s vision was

Howler Monkey Research Paper
Did you know that there are currently 264 monkey species? Monkeys are the
closest animals to man. There are a lot of facts about monkeys people don t know.
Monkeys can be divided into two groups: old world monkeys that live in Africa
and Asia and new world monkeys that live in South America. A Baboon is
classified as an old world monkey. A Howler Monkey is classified as a new world
monkey. Most monkeys don t swing with their tails because not all monkeys have
tails. Apes don t have tails. Monkeys are omnivores. This means that most plants,
nuts, seeds, and flowers are all eaten. Howler monkeys can be heard from up to 3
miles away. They live in the savannas and forests in South America. They eat birds,
fruits, maggots, tree bark, and
The Effects Of Optimism On Cancer Survival Rate
The previous section has shown that previous study had yielded contradictory results.
To account for the inconsistent findings, we have to first understand the inner
mechanisms of the effects of optimism on cancer survival rate. Salovey (2000) has
proposed various potential casual pathways from dispositional optimism to cancer
survival outcomes. One of the potential mediators of optimism and survival outcome
might be immune system. In other words, optimism tends to enhance the immune
system which in turn enhance cancer survival rate. Indeed, Ah (2007) examines the
intimate connections among social support, optimism, and immune response. Ah
hypothesized that optimism plays a mediating role for immune response and cancer
outcome. 54 cancer patients participated in the study. They completed questionnaires
regarding stress level, optimism, and satisfaction social support. Participants blood
was assessed to measure the immune system (ex., white blood cell such as natural
killer cell. The results showed that only optimism is associated with immune response
and cancer prognosis, while perceived satisfaction of social support was not
associated immune response.
Given that immunology mediate the relationship between optimism and cancer
survival rate, it is possible that the inconsistent results of the previous studies might
be accounted by mechanisms related to immunology.
One possible explanation might be that previous studies looked at different types of
cancer, while some type
Confucianism Dbq Analysis
According to Confucianism a ruler should set a good example for his subjects
because people follow the leader. If the leader is corrupt and acts as if he is above the
law then people will copy him and act as he does. If the ruler follows the rules then
so will the people. Legalists believe that people are inherently evil and a good
military is needed to keep the people in check and to keep the enemies away. If the
people revolt or if the nation gets attacked, a good military is necessary to fight back.

Without a strong military they would be defenseless against attacks either from
neighbors or from revolts inside their own nation. The Persians were aware of the
need for a strong military and used to teach their kids from when they were five
years old to when they were twenty years old, how to ride a horse and how to
shoot a bow. (Doc 1) They trained their children from when they were young how
to fight because they knew it is of utmost importance to have a strong military. In
Sparta as well, the children were in school learning how to fight from when they
were very young and because of this Sparta was able to defend itself from Persia
when they attacked. They did however need to turn to Athens for help, because
they also had military training that was superior to its adversaries. A ruler whose
own nation revolts needs a good military in order to end the revolt and make sure
everything goes back to normal because without that he would be vulnerable, and
be taken over as soon as there is a revolt. A helpful document would be a primary
source written by a citizen in a civilization that didn t have a proper army (Egypt
during the Old Kingdom) and how that didn t work and they needed to create a proper
What Does Grandma Mean To You Essay
As a young adult, you don t remember much childhood memories that can be
cherished forever besides who your best friend was in first grade or your favorite
color or why the kids were being mean to you at recess. As we get older we realize
there is more life struggles to worry about than what happened during grade school.
Many people will look at their grandma as the wonderful lady that makes you fat
because she doesn t let you to leave her house hungry and your coat pockets will be
overflowing with candy just to snack on later. Although I could agree to that
100%, there is a lot more than just the food and candy that a grandma will over fill
you with. Ever since I was a little girl, my grandma has been my best friend. I spent
almost every day with her as long as she wasn t away traveling for work. When she
wasn t working we did almost everything you could think of and somehow always
found ourselves at the mall by the end of the day. Although she had many other
grandkids to show attention to as well, she always made me feel like the only little
girl in the world. She treated me like a princess and I loved every minute of it.... Show

have more receivables and payables I would suggest that you pay a little more
money for the accrual basis you re more likely to have a bigger business anyways.
The revenue recognition principle recognizes revenue in the accounting period in
which the performance obligation is satisfied. The expense recognition principle
match expenses with revenues in the period when the company makes efforts to
generate those revenues. If they waited until the end of the year to make all these

The Consequences Of The Treaty Of Versailles
In 1919, the Allied victors in World War I met at the Paris Peace Conference to set
the peace terms for the defeated Central Powers. The Allies created the peace terms
in the hope to create and maintain world peace. However, the Allies and Central
Powers realized that the peace terms stated in the Treaty of Versailles did not help to
maintain world peace. When the Allies created the Treaty they designed it in a bad
way. Rather than specific, the Treaty didn t make much sense because it was wordy.
John Maynard Keynesan English economist attended the Paris Peace Conference and
wrote the book The Economic Consequences of Peace in which he stated his opinion
about the Treaty. In Thornstein Veblen s review of The Economic Consequences of
Peace he argues that Keynes withheld information about the consequences that the
Treaty would cause. If Keynes would not have withheld any information the
economic downfall would not have happened. Keynes failed to include the
consequences of the Treaty in his analysis though, and failed to influence the Allies at
the Paris Peace Conference. In Keynes analysis of the Treaty he did not include the
consequence that the Bolshevism would come to an end. At the Paris Peace
Conference the Great Powers only agreed to eliminate the Bolshevism, other than that
the Great Powers could not agree on anything. They knew that it would be difficult to
eliminate the Bolshevism in Soviet Russia, but the Great Powers thought it had to be
done to create and
The Pepsi Of Coca Cola
Many beverages have been produced and manufactured over time, but there has
never been a drink that makes your mouth water as your hear the pop of the bottle
opening, a drink that bubbles in your mouth as you drink it, a drink that has an
even richer history and more efficient company than any other. This drink is
French Wine Cola. At least that is what John Stith Pemberton, the creator of Coca
Cola, called it before his bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, suggested the now famous
name Coca Cola(Library of Congress). Robinson also suggested adding the slogan,
delicious and refreshing, to all of Coke s ads. Coca Cola is a beverage that has
been successful for many years.Though most people would tell you Coca Cola is
just a drink, it is more than just a soft drink. Coke, created by a man who lived in
Columbus, Ga, started out as a medicine, has a unique bottling, and is a very
interesting piece of history as a business and as a soft drink. Coca Cola was

Haymin St Sanford Research Paper
Haymin Ståford was born in 1100 CE in Växjö, Sweden. He was a half blood:
his mother, Elsa, was a Muggle, and his father, Olof, was a wizard. They were both
loving parents and they never quarreled in his presence. He got along well with the
children in his neighbourhood. As a result, he never experienced enough stress to
do involuntary magic; so his parents assumed that he was a Squib. They sent him to
a Muggle school, where he also got along well with the other children. Much to
everyone s surprise, when Haymin turned 11 he got a letter from Hogwarts School
of Witchcraft and Wizardry, inviting him to study magic there. He was reluctant to

Hayman chose Care of Magical Creatures and Alchemy. Alchemy quickly joined
Potions and Transfiguration as his favourite subjects. He was particularly
fascinated with the lectures about the Vedas, a group of deities in Indian alchemic
folklore. They believed in a strict moral code: doing good deeds for others, using
Alchemy for the benefit of all of humanity, both present and future as well as the
universe, and being patient. These were the principles he had learned from his
parents, and these were the principles upon which he had always based his own
life. As the years passed, Hayman decided that he when he graduated from
Hogwarts, he would move to India and found a group of Alchemists who would
practise and promulgate the Vedas moral code. He graduated with an O in Potions,
Transfiguration and Alchemy. His examiners for the N.E.W.T. practical Alchemy
and Potions examinations was particularly impressed with the Longevity Potion he
had invented. He obtained an E in every other subject: he had dropped Astronomy
as soon as it was no longer a required course. And then, after his final visit to his

  • 1. Discursive Essay Samples Crafting a discursive essay on the topic of "Discursive Essay Samples" may seem like a paradoxical challenge. The inherent complexity lies in the need to provide a comprehensive exploration of various perspectives while maintaining a coherent and logical structure. One must navigate through divergent opinions, counterarguments, and diverse viewpoints, requiring a delicate balance between presenting contrasting ideas and offering a nuanced synthesis. To start, the writer must delve into extensive research to gather a spectrum of opinions on the subject matter. This involves scouring through academic journals, books, and credible online sources to acquire a nuanced understanding of the topic's multifaceted nature. The challenge arises in synthesizing this information into a cohesive narrative that not only presents diverse viewpoints but also establishes a clear line of reasoning. The essay must seamlessly transition between different arguments, creating a flow that captivates the reader's attention and sustains their interest throughout. Striking the right balance between objectivity and persuasive language is a tightrope walk, as the writer endeavors to present a well- rounded discussion without imposing personal bias. Additionally, the task demands a keen awareness of potential pitfalls, such as oversimplifying complex issues or neglecting crucial perspectives. The challenge is not merely in the presentation of ideas but also in the meticulous analysis of each argument, providing a nuanced understanding that transcends surface-level discussions. Structuring the essay poses another hurdle, as the writer must decide on a coherent organization that effectively communicates the various dimensions of the topic. This involves careful consideration of the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, each serving a specific purpose in the overall narrative. In conclusion, the difficulty in writing an essay on "Discursive Essay Samples" lies in the intricate dance between presenting diverse perspectives, maintaining a coherent structure, and weaving a compelling narrative. • 2. The Importance Of A Certified Nurse Midwife And An... Obstetrics I am interested in helping people. I believe in the well being of others and would love to work with the miracle of life, also known as pregnancy and birth. This is why I am looking at Obstetrics. According to webmd.com an Obstetrician is, a doctor who specializes in pregnancy, childbirth, and a woman s reproductive system. They take care of women during pregnancy in many ways, including monitoring the mother s and her developing baby s health by carrying out routine ultrasounds, measurements, and tests. As an Obstetric Doctor, my responsibilities would consist of checking for any problems that could cause issues during a pregnancy. I would advise about diet, exercise, medications, and other health related things, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My #2 suggestion was Athletic Trainer and my #3 was Massage Therapist. I believe that all of these really fit me because they deal with the well being of others and dealing with people, but have chosen to research Obstetrics because of how advanced it is and the fact that this profession deals with babies and mothers and pregnancies, which are all very interesting to me. In the past, Obstetrics was carried out by the midwives. There was not much knowledge of the advanced way we deal with complications in pregnancies back then, therefore midwives were the pregnancy experts. In the 1300 s, the first C section was performed on a deceased woman, to save the baby, and before the 1500 s, C sections were only performed if the mother was beyond help and almost always resulted in the death of the mother. But as C sections became more widely recognized in the early 1800 s, Obstetrics became the first physician specialty recognized in the U.S. In these years, the UK and Ireland had an 80% mortality rate for C sections. Today, 32% of deliveries are by Cesarean Section, and maternal mortality rates are at 0 in a large series of cesareans in some settings, according to nih.gov. This is good, and by the looks of it these numbers will be increasingly common as medical strategies are improved. Additionally, the Pap smear was not discovered until 1923 by a man named Georgios Nicholas Papanikolaou, M.D., Ph.D. He had initially taken in a study of cell

  • 6. The Presidency Of Bill Clinton The presidency of Bill Clinton is not too simple to forget. The 42th president is memorable in a variety of aspects. Bill Clinton, born in August, 1949, was ready for political world at 17 when he shook president John F. Kennedy s hand on a trip to DC. After five terms as governor of Arkansas, he knew that his aspiration one day to be president could happen, but he must work hard. After some time, Clinton became governor of Arkansas while working closely with his wife. He was often ridiculed for his youth and political inexperience, but Clinton was able to prove his critics wrong he decided to run for president in 1992. Bill Clintonbecame president of the United Statesof America and served two terms. Clinton won the heart of many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his first term, Clinton had a somewhat moderate relationship with the media. He was criticized for some of his decisions, but overall it was a typical president versus media relationship, until his second term. In 1998, the media coverage of Bill Clinton went from mild to extremely harsh when the Lewinsky scandal emerged. The press was strident when it came to finding information about the sex scandal. Reports would surround Clinton and the first lady trying to oust comments out of them. However, this did not get worse until the president lied under oath with his famous line, I did not have sexual relations with that woman... , and the president was impeached. The press had a field day by making jokes, and over analyzing every little thing the president did. Overall, Bill Clinton and the media did not have a harmonious relationship and still do not to this day. In the first year of Clinton s presidency, he was able to entice Congress to get some of the things done that he promised in his campaign. Clinton was able to persuade them to raise taxes on the wealthy. He was able to wheedle the Senate to ratify the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which helped create thousands of jobs. He was also able to convince them to pass bills to aid parents and to combat violent crime. Clinton was able to fulfill some of the promises of his campaign in that first year, and his relationship with Congress was simply Clinton persuading both houses. However, in the mid term
  • 7. Second Edition Of The Critique Of Pure Reason INTRODUCTION In the second edition of the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant refutes claims that his work purports to a form of idealism such as the views provided by Descartes and Berkeley. In the section titled the Refutation of Idealism, he addresses two types of idealism. Kant states, Idealism (I mean material idealism) is the theory that declares the existence of objects in space outside us to be either merely doubtful and indemonstrable, or else false and impossible; the former is the problematic idealism of Descartes, who declares only one empirical assertion, namely I am, to be indubitable; the latter is the dogmatic idealism of Berkeley (B 274). In order to refute Descartes problematic idealism , Kant turns the game played by idealism against itself by reversing the assumption that immediate experience is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The proof given by the First Analogy provides the foundation for this premise. In light of the fact that Kant is providing a transcendental argument as proof for an external world, we see here that by starting with the obvious, premise (1), Kant seeks to establish the conditions necessary for the possibility of time determinations. Correspondingly, Premise (2) asserts that something persistent in perception is necessary for all temporal relations, unity of apperception and a fortiori, self consciousness. Moreover, this persisting thing is the substance of the first analogy. In the first analogy Kant concludes: Change can only be perceived through that which persists and its alteration. For the difference of the times in which things are can only be perceived in them as parts of one and the same time. All change is only the division of time. Hence there must be something that exists throughout the entire time since the whole is always the ground of the division. Hence substance is the substratum, and that which is changing is only the way in which this exists (A

Argumentative Essay On Animal Assisted Therapy Man s Best Friend... and Therapist Animal assisted therapy is used in hospitals and colleges throughout the United States and all around the world . Dogs, cats, fish, birds and many other types of animals are used to help calm people and bring them a sense of companionship. • 9. North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart Performed by North Korea s Moranbong Band, My Heart is a song of contrast. Contrast between complex and straightforward, and bright and dark, both in the instrumentation and lyrical content. It is inside of these contrasts that the listener can begin to understand the song s political message. Beginning with sudden, energetic burst of violins, piano, electric guitar, electric bass, and a drum kit, the song s intro is heavily syncopated and rhythmically varied. After a short call and response section between the piano and rest of the band, every instrument in unison performs a rising, 8th note riff that connects to the verse. It is here when the vocals come in where the intro s powerful energy slides into a less driving, more mellow mood. The intro grabs the listener s attention, but once the lyrics come in the music slides back to allow the singer to be dominant. Rhythmical, the core of My Heart lies in the 4/4 time signature with emphasis on the backbeat. While the bass sticks to hitting quarter notes with the drums, guitar and piano provide syncopation in the verses by playing on the offbeats. Together with a tempo that comfortably ... By utilizing contrasting elements, such as the march like beat with sudden, syncopated moments, and the bright instrumentation with dark harmonics, My Heart could be interpreted as a battle between opposing forces, and calling on the North Korean citizens to stand up and back their country in order to win any upcoming conflicts. The song feels like a march, further elevating its political, militaristic message. The lyrics talk about giving everything to the country, and the dark chords and rich backing vocals give these lyrics a dramatic weight that could help persuade listeners to follow the narrator s example of

These bribes allowed the big businesses to take advantage of workers. Laborers at the time we faced with extremely long work hours and very little pay. Throughout cities all over the country large groups of strikers took to the street. In New York, twenty five thousand people marched down Broadway all in hope of a shorter work day. The biggest effect of the strike took place in Chicago. With forty thousand strikers, every railroad, stockyard and many businesses were forced to close. Unlike most strikes against big business, many people did receive what they had asked for. In fact, forty five thousand people were given the eight hour work day just to not strike. The meer numbers of this strike truly speak to how desperate workers were of shorter work days. However, big business did not care the only thing on their mind was money. The only reason many of these workers received their demand were due to the fact that business would lose more in a few days of shut down as compared to 2 hours less work a day. Another example of how work hours affected the poor was described by Morris Rosenfeld as, I have a little boy at home... A stranger I am to my child; and a stranger my child is to me. This excerpt from his poem entitled My Boy shows how due to the long work hours, many parents were not home enough to raise their children. However, this was the least of

The World Is Too Much With Us Figurative Language Essay In the poems The World Is Too Much with Us , written by William Wordsworth, and the poem written in reply to Wordsworth s poem titled To Wordsworth , by Percy Bysshe Shelley, both refer to nature throughout their poems. The themes of their poems are different, but the poets use similar figurative language in their writing. In the poem The World Is Too Much with Us , written by William Wordsworth , the theme of the poem is how humans used to pay so much attention to nature, but no longer do. It also says that the winds were once howling, which indicates that the winds were impossible to not notice. Wordsworth then concludes his statement when he says, And are up gathered now like sleeping flowers (Line 7). Wordsworth uses this simile to compare the previous views of nature, to the current views. Humans used to pay so much attention to nature, but now nature does not matter to them. Just as if they were sleeping flowers that nobody cares about anymore. Wordsworth then alludes to Greek gods such as Proteus and Triton in his poem when he says, Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn; Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea; Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn (Line 12/13/14). Wordsworth s reference to the two sea gods shows his desire to have humans go back to the days where they worshiped nature. He wants to see the two see gods so that it can make him feel happier. The theme of Shelley s poem is similar to Wordsworth s poem, but also different. Shelley argues that while humans have ignored nature, it is not their fault. He also insinuates that he disagrees with Wordsworth s

They began to call the public s attention to an oppression by the upper class through many different issues of the time, which was looked down upon by some, such as Daniel Webster in response to Jackson s bank veto. This dealt with the Bank War which was the primary economic dealing of the time in which President Jackson vetoed the recharter of the Bank of the United States. He did so because he found the bank unconstitutional and thought that it was a near monopoly that only benefited the rich. This stirred public support and brought the class issue to the forefront for many people. Although some looked upon Jackson s decision on the Bank as a bad one, the Jacksonians supported him because they saw it as an attempt to support equality and eliminate a monopoly in the hands of the elite rich. Another such instance that dealt with monopoly and equality of economic opportunity was the Charles River Bridge v. Warren Bridge case in 1837. In it, Chief Justice Taney ruled that new enterprises could not be confined by the implied privileges of old charters, in an effort to allow for competition and free enterprise. Political democracy was one of the resurfacing interests during the Jacksonian Era. Jacksonian Democrats saw it as their duty to protect the government run

Within this perspective, there are three theories that describe different ways in which learning occurs; classical conditioning theory, operant conditioning theory, and cognitive social learning theory (Hutchinson, 2015). Classical conditioning is often associated with physiologist Ivan Pavlov s experiment with the salivating dog (Hutchinson, 2015). This experiment focused on conditioning the dog to associate food with the bell while salivating, and eventually salivates when the bell is rung even without the presence of food. Operant conditioning theory is changed behavior as the result of a reinforcement (Hutchinson, 2015). In our society, we associate positive reinforcements with compliments, smiles, high fives in order to encourage a behavior more. Negative reinforcement involves jail, detention, and grounding, and this is to stop a behavior from continuing. A cognitive social learning theory states that behavior can be learned through observations, beliefs, expectations, and imitation of others (Hutchinson, 2015). A major difference between cognitive social learning theory and the others, is a lack of manipulation to encourage the individual to follow through with a behavior. Rather, cognitive social learning theories suggest that a change in thinking can ultimately result in a change in behavior (Hutchinson, 2015). Another critical point is that the HR role and activities are very comprehensive and complex, maybe too comprehensive for one department, as it might be possible to lose control over all the different processes. HR Functions and Evaluation HR policy formulation The Personnel Department formulates strategic HR policy, bearing in mind the overall organisational context (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 84). If properly devised, HR policy formulation can make an essential contribution to corporate success. However, it has to be considered that if the department devises a wrong strategy it could slow down corporate development and thus future corporate success. Planning This activity comprises HR planning, recruitment and workforce planning and work organisation (University of Sunderland 2004, p. 84). A problem area is that future development and corporate needs might be difficult to

In the beginning of Little Miss Sunshine, the family faces the issue of not agreeing on a plan for their trip to Olive s pageant. It is the same when Jewel, the hero in As I Lay Dying, is unsure of the situation with Addie s death. Little Miss Sunshine also introduces a minor conflict that is within a character. Richard is obsessed with his nine steps to success, so he is blinded by his motto Winners see what they want, they go out and they get it (Arndt 2). However, it is ironic because Richard hides his failures through excuses, through his ignorance and inability to accept reality. This can be interpreted as a similar conflict in that Jewel is blinded by his love for his horse Both heroes struggle with their own inner conflicts, yet in the end they manage to overcome these minor obstacles in themselves. The idea of friends learning to support one another through professional and private conflict appealed to the masses. Everyone tuned in each Thursday night and became attached to one of the show s empathetic characters: insipid Ross, irresolute Rachel, vacuous Joey, bubbly Phoebe, irritable Chandler, and imperious Monica. Its popularity only grew through each new season as the actors and actresses developed from unknowns into national television stars. The One with Five Steaks and an Eggplant in season two exemplifies the show s ability to influence and reflect a country s culture through its emotional storylines, comedic drama, and relatable characters. In the episode, Ross s birthday is coming up, and the group is planning something special for the event. They agree on a gift, cake, and tickets to the upcoming Hootie and the Blowfish concert. With this standpoint, we often brush off or neglect to further investigate slavery in its most modern forms. Over the course of history, there are few times we can truly say a social problem was completely solved. Starvation still exists, as does poverty, racism, war, segregation, injustice within government systems, and yes, even slavery. Human traffickingis modern day slavery, and it exists everywhere with two different categories: sex exploitation and labor exploitation. Humantrafficking is not new, but what is new is the volume of trafficking taking place, and how little we know about it. How can a problem, so monstrous and so widespread continue with most society being unaware of its existence? The 1800 s, and even years prior, were a period of unfathomable abuse towards people considered less than. The 21st century is also a period of unfathomable abuse towards people considered commodities. Now the common place relation between slavery and the civil war must be over, because the monster of modern day slavery has awoken. The official definition of human trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation (Dictionary.com). Freedom And Symbolism In Zeena, By Ethan Wharton In addition, this smell of geranium, that the cat made evident to Ethan, is used throughout the novel to represent Zeena s presence which is why he dragged himself wearily to his feet (Wharton 71) as a reaction to the smell. Concerning the aspects of both freedom and isolation, Wharton made the decision to choose birds and a domestic cat for a specific reason. According to Setting and Symbolism , References to trees, birds, and mice, therefore, are all image patterns connecting Mattie, and Ethan s love for her, with the natural freedom of the outdoors. In contrast, and a natural enemy to both birds and mice, is Zeena s domestic cat. (Springer 8). So, as you can see, these two animals were chosen to show that Zeena will always have the upperhand on Mattie and Ethan can t do anything to stop it. In nature, you can t stop an animal from killing another because that is how they survive and that is life. In a similar scenario, Ethan has no control on what Zeena does because she has appropriated the role as the head of the household and, essentially, controls Mattie s every move. Regarding this facet of isolation versus freedom, the reader can see how Ethan psychologically has associated Mattie with the things he desires to have and Zeena with the things he desires to escape. Following this concept, Wharton uses the environment to express Ethan s psychological state of mind. The story takes place in an isolated town covered in snow which becomes one of the main contributors to Ethan s misery. In the novel, Wharton uses winter as the key to Ethan s isolation, After the funeral, when he saw her preparing to go away, he was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm; and before he knew what he was doing he had asked her to stay there with him. He had often thought since that it would not have happened if his mother had died in spring instead of winter. (Wharton 41). This quote brings up the idea of how the season of winter is what isolated him to a point where people question that ... he s been in Starkfield too many winters. Most of the smart ones get away. (Wharton 5). As the novel progresses, this brutal climate also develop characteristics, warm and happy or cold and miserable,

With Polysar s company wide profitability in mind, as well as spirit of fairness in representation for both segments using a de centralized approach, our recommendation is the use of negotiated transfer pricing. • 47. Informative Speech On Aorta Definition The aorta is the largest artery of the body. Its job is to disperse blood to smaller arteries to be sure all of the parts of the body receive an efficient supply of well oxygenated blood. This artery connects to the aortic valve of the heart. This valve opens and closes, so blood can leave the heart. It has to close completely and open widely for the right amount of blood to be able to flow through. If there are any problems with it, and it can t push through blood from the aorta, a person might end up needing aortic valve replacement surgery. Symptoms The symptoms of problems with the aortic valve are similar to that of a heart attack. There is chest pain and pressure that some describe as feeling like the heart is being squeezed. The Early Years Of The American Civil War The study of the early years of the America republic has not received the same attention from historians, as have many other periods of American history. In fact, only slavery and sectionalism, the leading causes of the American Civil War, have been consistently covered in much of the historical study of the first half of the nineteenth century. This became quite obvious with the readings that I spent time with this semester. Many were somewhat long in the tooth, yet still remained standard bearers for their topic, as further study has been sporadic or nearly nonexistent. This seems especially true of the studies that attempt to bring together the various elements in a manner that creates a big picture of the time period. Regional or social histories have dominated this period in the last twenty years and perhaps it is time for a new attempt at integrating the various pieces of the puzzle into a coherent picture. This is not to dismiss the people and groups that make the story, but to put their story back into a greater context. The numerous books I read, when pieced together, accomplish this to some degree, but this manner is incomplete, as it does not, nor were the majority of the authors intending too, create a complete picture of what America was like in the early nineteenth century. To account for the inconsistent findings, we have to first understand the inner mechanisms of the effects of optimism on cancer survival rate. One of the potential mediators of optimism and survival outcome might be immune system. In other words, optimism tends to enhance the immune system which in turn enhance cancer survival rate. Indeed, Ah (2007) examines the intimate connections among social support, optimism, and immune response. Although she had many other grandkids to show attention to as well, she always made me feel like the only little girl in the world. She treated me like a princess and I loved every minute of it.... I wanted to go explore and hangout with my friends instead of hanging out with someone I was with every day of my childhood. I only started talking to her when it was convenient for myself or when I needed her to help me with something because I was so caught up with my friend s life that I forgot who was there with me from the beginning. I was the typically young teenage girl that was moody and wanted to do things on my own. I thought I could do anything without an adults
  • 54. Impact of Promotional Methods Essay From the scenarios, Erica and Chris have determined their weaknesses after performing a SWOT analysis. However, they have yet to identify opportunities for their business. Determine two potential opportunities specific to their restaurant s business environment, and discuss how the partners can take advantage of these opportunities. Discuss a situation where you were influenced by an infomercial, attractive packaging, and a discount flyer to purchase a product, and explain why you think the promotional method made such an impact on you. I believe one of their potential opportunities is proximity to their ideal client base. They could pass out menus for catering, dining or even take out menus to cater to some of the businesses as... Recognizes expenses and revenues when performed rather when paid Disadvantages of accrual basis accounting 1. Special rules apply to this form 2. Transactions recorded at the time it happens Advantages of cash basis accounting 1. Only records revenue and expenses when they are paid either way. 2. It s a very in expensive system to use 3. More simple system to use Disadvantages of cash basis accounting 1. Misleading financial statements. 2. Fails to record services performed but not paid yet 3. Does not match expenses with revenues. I believe that each of these could be good for your business just depending on the business. Like to use the cash basis you would need a business that does not have a lot of receivables and payables. If you have more receivables and payables I would suggest that you pay a little more money for the accrual basis you re more likely to have a bigger business anyways. The revenue recognition principle recognizes revenue in the accounting period in which the performance obligation is satisfied. The expense recognition principle match expenses with revenues in the period when the company makes efforts to generate those revenues. If they waited until the end of the year to make all these entries it would be crazy look at tax time how people are. Now look at a company that has hundreds or even
  • 55. The Consequences Of The Treaty Of Versailles In 1919, the Allied victors in World War I met at the Paris Peace Conference to set the peace terms for the defeated Central Powers. The Allies created the peace terms in the hope to create and maintain world peace. However, the Allies and Central Powers realized that the peace terms stated in the Treaty of Versailles did not help to maintain world peace. When the Allies created the Treaty they designed it in a bad way. Rather than specific, the Treaty didn t make much sense because it was wordy. John Maynard Keynesan English economist attended the Paris Peace Conference and wrote the book The Economic Consequences of Peace in which he stated his opinion about the Treaty. In Thornstein Veblen s review of The Economic Consequences of Peace he argues that Keynes withheld information about the consequences that the Treaty would cause. If Keynes would not have withheld any information the economic downfall would not have happened. Keynes failed to include the consequences of the Treaty in his analysis though, and failed to influence the Allies at the Paris Peace Conference. In Keynes analysis of the Treaty he did not include the consequence that the Bolshevism would come to an end. At the Paris Peace Conference the Great Powers only agreed to eliminate the Bolshevism, other than that the Great Powers could not agree on anything. They knew that it would be difficult to eliminate the Bolshevism in Soviet Russia, but the Great Powers thought it had to be done to create and

The Pepsi Of Coca Cola Many beverages have been produced and manufactured over time, but there has never been a drink that makes your mouth water as your hear the pop of the bottle opening, a drink that bubbles in your mouth as you drink it, a drink that has an even richer history and more efficient company than any other. This drink is French Wine Cola. At least that is what John Stith Pemberton, the creator of Coca Cola, called it before his bookkeeper, Frank Robinson, suggested the now famous name Coca Cola(Library of Congress). Robinson also suggested adding the slogan, delicious and refreshing, to all of Coke s ads. Coca Cola is a beverage that has been successful for many years.Though most people would tell you Coca Cola is just a drink, it is more than just a soft drink. Coke, created by a man who lived in Columbus, Ga, started out as a medicine, has a unique bottling, and is a very interesting piece of history as a business and as a soft drink. They were both loving parents and they never quarreled in his presence. He got along well with the children in his neighbourhood. As a result, he never experienced enough stress to do involuntary magic; so his parents assumed that he was a Squib. They sent him to a Muggle school, where he also got along well with the other children. Much to everyone s surprise, when Haymin turned 11 he got a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, inviting him to study magic there. He was reluctant to leave his happy life with his parents and his friends and live in a dormitory among strangers who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hayman chose Care of Magical Creatures and Alchemy. Alchemy quickly joined Potions and Transfiguration as his favourite subjects. He was particularly fascinated with the lectures about the Vedas, a group of deities in Indian alchemic folklore. They believed in a strict moral code: doing good deeds for others, using Alchemy for the benefit of all of humanity, both present and future as well as the universe, and being patient. These were the principles he had learned from his parents, and these were the principles upon which he had always based his own life. As the years passed, Hayman decided that he when he graduated from Hogwarts, he would move to India and found a group of Alchemists who would practise and promulgate the Vedas moral code. He graduated with an O in Potions, Transfiguration and Alchemy. His examiners for the N.E.W.T. practical Alchemy and Potions examinations was particularly impressed with the Longevity Potion he had invented. He obtained an E in every other subject: he had dropped Astronomy as soon as it was no longer a required course. And then, after his final visit to his parents in Sweden, he did move to

Galileo was one of the most respected scientist in modern day science because of one simple fact. The way you represent your work and represent yourself is what makes up your success, but it starts with you. I once heard somewhere laziness is not attractive and that you ve got to work towards your goals and this is a story about someone on pushed these things to the extreme. Making revolutionary discoveries that some only dreamed of Galileo did extraordinary things and pushed the limit of science. His discovery of astronomy was the starting point to many modern day discoveries, you know the stuff NOVA does. His book relating to his astronomical (hehe get it) discovery ... Galileo discovered the largest moon of Jupiter. Lo, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Not only that, but he was the one who made the scientific discovery that earth wasn t the center of the rotating planets we and that and the other planets actually orbit around the sun. When Galileo came out with this discovery King George III wasn t happy and I don t even know why. What I do know is he blackmailed Galileo in saying If you don t retract your statement you will be burned at the stake in a long painful death and some other scary stuff. And lastly he discovered how to convert math into a language. I don t really know how they figured things out before, but this surely made it x10 easier. Honestly I don t have much information on this, but I can entertain you until I get to a paragraphs length. So this weather we are having isn t it lovely, if only you could see since you re only reading this I will describe it to you.
