Bernard Matthews has set six ambitious green energy goals to reduce reliance on fossil fuels including becoming carbon neutral by 2020. They have opened a £4.2 million food waste anaerobic digestion plant at their Holton production site, which generates power from 29,000 tonnes of factory waste annually. This has eliminated 1,200 lorry journeys of waste transport each year. They are also exploring developing a gas to grid plant at a farm site that would produce methane from maize, beet, and turkey litter to inject into the gas network. Bernard Matthews remains committed to supporting sustainability goals through innovative renewable energy solutions.
