Body Shop Climate Friendly case Study
The Body Shop Australia worked with Climate Friendly to measure its greenhouse gas emissions and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint. Climate Friendly provided renewable energy certificates and offsets to match The Body Shop's electricity usage and flight emissions. The savings from switching to these programs allowed The Body Shop to invest in energy efficiency upgrades. To communicate its actions and engage customers and staff, The Body Shop partnered with Climate Friendly to launch a climate pledge competition called "Kick Climate Change" across its stores and marketing channels. The Body Shop's goal was to become carbon neutral and inspire others to take action on climate change.

Zero Waste Scotland - High Tide - Sustainable Production - Report
High Tide produced a sustainability report for a digital storytelling project to communicate green issues. Through various measures like using an existing outdoor bar location, plant-based catering, digital documents, and asking crew to travel sustainably, the production reduced its carbon footprint by 48% compared to taking no measures. In total the production emitted 515kg of CO2 versus an estimated 1004kg. Key learnings included the importance of factoring sustainability into creative and location decisions and communicating the green goals to crew.

- 2. At PPG, sustainable operations serve as a hallmark of who we are and how we operate around the globe. Our employees continually work to find new ways to reduce our footprint. And every day brings new progress and better results. Here are a few of the highlights from 2015.
- 3. 30% 2013 2014 2015 2016 We set a goal of 30% of company global sales to come from sustainable products by 2020. We reached that goal in 2015. Aim high.
- 4. Upgrading the closed-loop chilled water system at our Huntsville, Alabama, plant reduced the system’s electricity use by almost 45%. Cool conservation.
- 5. 426 TONS By converting scrap material into pellets that are reintroduced into the manufacturing process at one of our Ohio plants, we eliminated more than 426 metric tons of non-hazardous waste in 2015. Cut the scrap.
- 6. C°/F° Using programmable thermostats in our U.S. paint stores, PPG is saving $934,000 in energy costs. That’s a lot of saved watts. Get with the program. $934,000 ENERGY SAVINGS
- 7. Our Sigma Coatings plant in Belgium switched to more compact, environmentally friendly delivery vans, significantly reducing transportation costs and carbon footprint. TRANSPORTATION COSTS CO2 Take the high road.
- 8. 1,200 STEAM OF METRIC TONS Waste heat? No way. Waste heat? No way. In Tianjin, China, our plant traps excess heat from a single air compressor to warm water, saving 1,200 metric tons of steam annually.
- 9. WASTE WATER 73% Our Batavia, Illinois, plant has reduced waste water use by 73% over a two-year period. Gallons of savings.
- 10. 75% LESS WASTE Separating paint remnants at our Amsterdam plant reduces waste by more than 75%. That’s 53 metric tons per year. Shrink the landfill.
- 11. 200,000 GALLONS SAVED Modifications to the wash booth at our aerospace plant in Huntsville reduced water usage by 45%, saving almost 200,000 gallons a year. Wash and care.
- 12. We’ve created an environment that inspires our people to find new, more efficient ways to create the paints, coatings and materials that help make the world a more beautiful place.
