In Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, Jonathan Edwards delivers a powerful sermon to his
congregation about the horrors of hell. Throughout the piece, the author explains there is no escape
from eternal destruction, and one must join God to reach salvation (para. 27). Edwards uses dark,
gruesome imagery along with gloomy diction in order to instill fear into the audience, and persuade
them to more devoutly worship God.
Imagery is used by Edwards to induce terror onto the congregation by illustrating the power of

In South Africa race took a shift from biology to culture. Because is of its many diverse
indigenous groups, race was no longer a difference between Afrikaners and the English but with
Zulus, Xhosa and Tswanas. Language was used as a determinant of race. Dubow argues that not
much scientifically constructed race has been done in South Africa despite the fact that race
has deep seated roots. This is because many dismissed race as being scientific as it began to
appear to be a sociological issue. Science was then pushed aside and race was now seen as a
social and intellectual construct (Dubow, 1995: 2 5) from natural science to solely social
science resulting from everyday experiences. When we say race is a social construct we
disregard any possibility of it being that of a scientific one. It is not something that we are born
with because of our culture (Erasmus, 2005: 9), instead, simply out, race is a bunch of
meanings that we attach to people. We do not dispute the fact that there are differences among

Despite the fact that Ghazali in The Rescuer from Error is searching for certain knowledge but
states in a paradoxical manner that this may actually not be possible, he is the most persuasive
author when considering the knowledge of the divine alongside Plato in The Republic and
Augustine in City of God. Ghazali considers both belief and knowledge as necessary for
knowledge of the divine while Plato focuses solely on knowledge. On the other side, while
Augustine does support the idea of a rational soul, he refutes his own claim when considering
the miracles of God. In this essay I will argue that incorporating both knowledge and belief,
Ghazali provides an approach in which humans gain the most knowledge of the divine because
knowledge based belief combines a necessary personal journey and faith in the divine when
human intellect can only go so far. I will outline this argument by looking at what each author
defines as knowledge of the divine, how he sees this divine affecting human life, and why this
argument is either persuasive or non persuasive using Ghazali as a base to refute and/or support
their claims. Ghazali establishes the divine as God Almighty who guides and allows truth to lead
(Ghazali 78). God does this through the prophet Muhammad who, among many things, is a
messenger (Ghazali 77). The message he is delivering is one from God to humankind; as an

the hospital when complications arise. This is often the case because treatments (such as
intravenous medications) needed to deal with the various complications of CHF require
interventions that need to be administered by a team of medical staff with close monitoring of the
patient. According to the CDC website report Hospitalizations for Congestive Heart Failure:
United States 2000 2010, 5.8 million people suffer from CHF in the United States, and
hospitalization rates for individuals under the age of 65 with CHF increased significantly from 23%
to 29% with rates for men higher compared to women. Fluid retention that is unresponsive to oral

turbine creates energy that goes into a generator which gives off electricity. The water from the

becomes spent fuel and is treated as waste. Most countries bury the spent fuel or reuse it. In the
U.S., we haven t decided what to do with the spent fuel so most of the spent fuel rods are stored
in temporary storage pools. In the future, the United States plans to bury the waste in the Yucca
Mountains which are located in Nevada. This would be a suitable place since it is not close to

My Untold Story was about Abby Stein, activist, blogger, educator, student and a woman living
trans experience who grew up in Brooklyn, NY from an Ultra Orthodox Jewish community. This
Yiddish speaking ultra orthodox religion has minimal contact with the non Jewish world and
very limited access to technology. Assigned male gender at birth and as a rabbi in this
community, Abby married at 18 years old with the marriage producing two children. Abby left
her community to explore alternative views and came out as transgendered a few years later.
Using her experiences and knowledge Abby blogs about social justice issues related to oppressive
practices with the hope of supporting others from orthodox religions to become themselves while

God to his cult. Because of the information and research I have thus far, I could definitely associate
Charles Manson with yet another diagnosis of a mental disorder. Using the DSM again, it shows that
the diagnostic criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder is met by Manson. The symptoms of this
disorder are those such as failure to conform to social norms, conning others, impulsivity,
aggressiveness, recklessness, irresponsibility, and lack of remorse. All of these can basically be

Situations of unpleasant interactions between people are common even in our societies. At least
each person has at one time has experienced a terrible or unpleasant interaction with another
person. In the play No Exit by Sartre and the poems The Waste Land by Eliot, there are similar
unpleasant interactions depicted. No Exit is a play consisting of three characters Inez, Garcin, and
Estelle who are in hell damned in one room. The characters had thought hell was a place for
punishment but rather found themselves in a room well furnished. However, all the characters
refuse to admit to their damnation reasons. The Waste Land on the other hand is a collection of
poems that delve in war, disillusionment, death, and trauma themes to show the effects of World
War I. Therefore, the focus of this essay is to discuss unpleasant interpersonal situations depicted in
the two texts and that are similar.
In both texts, the characters were frightened by the interactions with the other people. In The Waste

Building Relationships With Our Inner City Youth
With all the incidents happening here in America involving officers making them seem like the
bad guys I decided to come up with the non profit organization of P.O.L.I.C.E to show they are
really here for us and our protection. There is no positive outlook on police and nobody thinks of
building relationships with them especially today s youth. In many communities in America our
inner city youth does not trust and is more scared of officers than they are more dependant on
them. Which has created many issues and even riots in some cities. P.O.L.I.C.E is a program done
by policeofficers in communities that are struggling with troubled youth to help and provide
guidance for them and also help build relationships in the community back up again. In order for
this organization to work we will needmany officers to step up and wantto be part of this program,
and if they care about protecting the people like they should than they will want to be apart of it.
Getting these volunteers will be the first step. The next step to fall behind that is getting a little
money for certain activities for these mentors and the kids. I ve researched many federal grants
that are out there that this program could apply for. According to grants.gov Pathways to Justice
Careers for Youth is one that is available (GRANTS.GOV). There is also a charity program called
Cops For Kids which gives out money for programs such as this (Grant Guidelines). Many
donations could also be given to the program.
