Miserable Routines In Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
There was no way out none. He was a prisoner for life, and now his one ray of light to be extinguished
(Wharton 29). Miserable routines caused by terrible occurrences trappes Ethan Frome every single
day. Edith Wharton opposes the idea of following any routine. Wharton expresses that routines and
cycles prevent a person from expressing their own desires or achieving their personal goals in life.
These cycles prohibit a person from seeing changes within their environment and possible
opportunities that could improve their life. Even if a person breaks free from a routine, an endless
amount of reasons exist to pull them back in. Ethan Frome momentarily escapes from his daily routine
to pursue his education, but not far into this break he has to return in order to help his family. Ethan
Frome somehow found a way out of his miserable routine, but failed to take that exit; resulting in a
life much worse than before. Finding a way out seems like a reasonable solution to escape bad
situations, but taking such a great risk to completely change one s entire life, seems nearly impossible
for any citizens of Starkfield. In the novella, Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton exemplifies how routines
deny a person from reaching their full potential through the constant pull Ethan and other members of
Starkfield receive to follow their normal, average routine and not follow their desires.
The Frome household contained many illnesses over many years, bringing in people outside of the

Summary Of The Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of...
Written between 1904 and 1905, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is the fundamental
and best known work of Max Weber, a German philosopher and sociologist who was also a political
man: I chose this book because I was curious about the theories on how capitalism emerged and
because I have heard of Max Weber before which could make this report less complex for me. In this
book Weber notes that the Protestant religion is the predominant among the German capitalist classes.
With the difference between Protestant capitalists and Catholic capitalists, Weber concludes that
Protestant ideology in one way or another promotes the construction of capitalism.
Max Weber begins his book pointing out how there was a common factor in his society, business
leaders and owners of capital, as well as the higher grades of skilled labour, and even more the higher
technically and commercially trained personnel of modern enterprises, are overwhelmingly Protestant
(3). This message unveils the sociological themes of the conflict theory and how culture affects
society. His style of writing is expository and persuasive, for this book can be treated as a lengthy
essay. Weber notes that the Protestant religion is the predominant among the German capitalist classes.
Being the difference between Protestant capitalists and Catholic capitalists, Weber concludes that
Protestant ideology in one way or another promotes the construction of capitalism. The ethics of
capitalism argue that the supreme end of our life is the acquisition of wealth by themselves, the pursuit
of enrichment is not seen as a means to an end; the capitalist entrepreneur does not seek to enrich
himself to retire but seeks enrichment for himself. Enjoyment, rest or withdrawal are not the
objectives of the capitalist mentality, although it may be the end of the members of capitalist
economies that are not integrated into the system.
One of the concepts that this book talks about is some of the essence of the macro level process of
capitalism. He tried to correlate the fact that the people who have wealth and have the control over
production, or capitalists, had a different way of seeing what was in front of them. He said that
capitalism acts as an

San Francisco 1915
San Francisco 1915 Palace of Fine Arts The Palace of Fine Arts was one of the finest buildings
constructed for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. It was one of the
most important symbols of the fair, situated near its center, at the end of the axis on which were
located the Courts of the Four Seasons and of the Universe at the center, and the Court of Abundance,
with the Machinery Palace framing the other side. The Palace was designed by a well known local
architect, Bernard Maybeck (b. New York, New York 1882; d. Berkeley, California 1957) who studied
architecture at the Paris Ecole des Beaux Arts. Maybeck then moved to San Francisco, joined the firm

The center of the arch was placed behind the rotunda, so that the two were not aligned in concentric
rings. This allowed a wider arch to be built in the same space, giving it a grander appearance. The
pergola can be more closely seen in the next image, reprinted from the same source and measuring 4
by 6 inches, as well as in the third and fourth images, which are photographs from Souvenir Views of
the Panama Pacific International Exposition San Francisco California 1915 (7 in. x 11 in.) There were
ochre columns, topped by boxes, mixed with pale green ones. The boxes were originally meant to
house small trees and hanging vines, but these were not planted for budgetary reasons. At each corner
of the boxes stood statues of women looking inwards, sculpted by Ulric Ellerhusen. They were meant
to represent the melancholy of life without art. The colonnades stood along the side of the lagoon, as
can be seen in the second image, with the reflection of the tranquil water adding a pleasant element.
Along the side of the walkway in the pergola was a garden of small trees and shrubbery. Plants were
present everywhere in the Palace, along the pergola and the rotunda, befitting the theme of a decaying
ruin, overrun by nature. According to Maybeck, it is the water and the trees that people came to see
(Macomber, 23). The natural scenery was integral to his design. The combination of majestic

Rhetorical Analysis Of Charleston Hope
Rhetorical Analysis
In the view of Lloyd Blitzer, he explains what makes situations rhetorical that is identical to a moral
act . His definition of a moral act is when you act or preform by any situation. He shows examples of
different types of rhetorical analysis that happened in the past. Blitzer states that a rhetorical analysis
is a change in reality. Therefore, he is saying that it is an action or new information that is to be
addressed or known. He states that rhetorical analysis should be followed by a rhetorical method.
Blitzer mentioned that there are three main components when writing a rhetorical analysis. One
component to look for is referred to as exigence. Exigence is the reason you are proving something.
Audience is the part of a rhetorical analysis that involves people that you are trying to get to
understand your situation. Lloyd stated that everyone is being capable by the change of speech. From
my perspective, Blitzer s rhetorical audience consists only of people who are more likely influenced
by discourse and have the possibility of becoming mediators of change. The final component is
constraint. Constraint deals with limitation and restrictions in a rhetorical analysis. Charleston Hope
provides a great opportunity to become involved and assist with its mission throughout the
community.

Compare And Contrast Cash Flow Budget Vs Comprehensive Budget
The first thing to consider in deciding whether a cash flow budget would be more useful than a
comprehensive budget, is why they are different. Firstly, the comprehensive is one budget for a
designated period, such as 6 or 12 months. All income is calculated as one total, and each expense is
calculated for the entire period. Whereas, a cash flow budget is broken down into shorter periods,
generally per month, it provides a better look at how money is being spent each month.
For someone with inconsistent monthly income, this is a great type of budget since it compares your
income to expenses during those short times. Sometimes you may have a budget deficit, and some
months a surplus, a cash flow budget would show you that, whereas, the comprehensive

Reflection Paper On Being A Counselor
As a potential counselor, there are different reasons why I choose this journey to be a helper, servant
and a leader. Not only was my early experiences in life a stepping stone towards this path, but my faith
in God and the realities of life led me as well. Even though I am still creating my future towards this
goal, there is no doubt that I am called to be in servitude to others. In this journey, I am appreciating
the learning fundamentals I have gained from the academic coursework, professionals/teachers and
experience that I have encountered to be molded into a multicultural competent counselor. By taking
advantage of this opportunity of learning, I have chosen a theoretical orientation that best suits me as a
potential clinician according to my beliefs, values and logical thinking. It is also noteworthy to
indicate that the self awareness of my beliefs, values, interests and thought process has been further
explored due to the assessments and activities of the Life Story Board, Meyer Briggs Type Indicator
(MBTI), Strong Interest Inventory (SII), My Career Story, and Career Genogram, including a
reflection of my spiritual walk with Christ.
Life Story Board
As everyone has a story of their journey, my story begins as a child growing up in a traditional
Hispanic/Latino home in a south suburb of Chicago. At a young age, I recognized that I viewed life
differently in comparison to my peers, siblings and parents. My thought process was very logical,
which helped me make rational decisions. It was not often that I made choices according to my
emotions and feelings, but rather choices of what I thought would benefit me in the long run.
However, many of my choices and protests that I did make were against the norm within my
traditional Hispanic/Latino home, gender roles, and religious beliefs. As I reviewed my Life Story
Board, I was able to identify different stages of my childhood/adolescence/teens were I had either a
negative, or a negative/positive experience due to the challenges and consequences of my logical
thought process and actions/reactions. It was a very confusing time for me to live in a culture where I
was constantly being challenged for who I was, without feeling understood.
Another highlight of my

was strong enough to accept this and follow God s will. Joseph, Mary s fiance, was approached by an
angel in a dream that told him Mary was pregnant by the Holy Spirit so he should not leave her. After
these events happened, Caesar Augustus issued a decree of a census stating everyone was to go back

The Yellow Wallpaper, By Harrison Bergeron
By comparing both stories together, and the characters within them, it is clear that neither the narrator
from The Yellow Wallpaper or Harrison from Harrison Bergeron agree with the way they are being
treated caused by their social, political and economic standpoint in society. In both stories they have
opposing forces trying to dictate their life, and telling them who they are supposed to be. Within the
story The Yellow Wallpaper , the narrator is being authorized by her husband john and in the story
Harrison Bergeron , Harrison is being oppressed by his government system. In both societies of the
stories, the characters are treated differently for who they are. The people to have more power in their
lives, decide who they are and what they can be. The ultimate outcome of their life is up to the forces
controlling them. Both characters have no way to escape the labels given to them, without going
against the people restraining their potential. The characters have many good attributes to them, but
are confined to being what others tell them to be. The narrator has wonderful writing skills and an
active mind which allows her to be creative and have an artistic personality, but her husband will not
allow her to write or be who she wants to be because he has the capability to control who she is.
Harrison is a genius and an athlete who could build upon his abilities to better himself as a person both
mentally and physically, but the government will not allow him to

Rhyme Scheme Of Sonnet
This poem is one of the many exceptional sonnets the writer, William Wordsworth has written in the
1800 s as he feels emotional and spiritual to nature. Sonnets are fourteen line poetic inventions written
mostly using the iambic parameter. This specific structure of the poem is a Petrarchan sonnet or also
known as the Italian sonnet divided into two parts known as the Octave (first eight lines of the poem)
and a Sestet (last six lines of the poem). In this poem, the octave has a rhyme scheme of ABBAABBA
and the sestet has a rhyme scheme of CDECED. This rhyme scheme with no break between the
stanzas shows a strong connection and gives of the impression that the poem is organized and has
harmony, as the speaker s main subject is nature in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nowadays these words seem old fashioned: thou beauteous , o er , walkest , liest , thee , worshipp st .
These words can also be found in the religious book of Christians called the Bible which emphasizes
the religious aspects nature has within itself. There is also a great deal of comparison between
Christians and nature displayed in the poem with the use of words such as Abraham, Nun, heaven etc.
The speaker also contrasts himself as a mere thinker to the little girl who puts no effort at all but she is
intimately linked to nature and its serenity. The poem is carried out in a respectful and serious tones
using words like holy time showing emphasis on religion and God is with thee when we know it not
also showing spirituality knowing there is a supreme being that watches over us all, the tone could
also be described as affectionate and gentle using the words Dear and emphasizing it twice to show
affection and care to this little girl and praises her natural quality.
There is also a variety of figures of speech used throughout the poem: metaphor Thou liest in
Abraham s bosom comparing how blessed the young girl is God s court. Simile the holy time is quiet
as a Nun comparing the serenity and peace of that moment is like being in the presence of Gods
worship and a sound like thunder comparing the oceanic waves

Analysis Of The Movie American Sniper
U.S. Navy SEAL ,Chris Kyle was just the average die hard Texan. He aspired to become a cowboy,
but it wasn t working out in his favor. After seeing the horrors of terrorism on 9/11 he was ready to
fight for his country and enlisted into the military. He goes on to fight in four tours and becomes the
deadliest sniper in American history. After each tour, he felt that he had to go back. He had two goals
that he couldn t give up on; protecting his team and taking out the deadliest enemy sniper, Mustafa.
Chris would not stop until he achieved his goals, when he finally did, he faced a new battle. He
struggled with normal daily life, but even then he persevered and found a new passion to aid him.
Throughout this film, Clint Eastwood portrays the theme of perseverance through the use of setting,
camera angles, and the main character Chris Kyle. American Sniper is a film that revolves around the
life of a Navy SEAL sniper named Chris Kyle. Chris grew up in an old fashioned southern family and
grew up trying to start his career as a cowboy. After 9/11 that was the last straw for him, so he decided
to become a Navy SEAL. During his training he meets a girl at a bar, at the time it didn t seem too

At first she forgets to bring the right shoes to work, and then she decides to explain it with
mountaineering. That is probably one of the worst excuses for forgetting anything. This tells us, that
the narrator s sense of order is not the best. She also tells us, that she has dry washed her hair,
probably without success. That also shows us about the greatest sense of order. Maybe is she looking
for order? It could be that she almost all the time, searches amongst others for the one thing she can t
do herself.
It seems that she is in a drastic development. She is married, but yet she wants to be divorced, and
when she goes home after work it s without her husband. The relationship between her and her

something happened. It seems that her husband has been unfaithful to her, and therefore they are

be that she was starting to go crazy and they had to split up. We don t know. But it seems like her mind

Muscle Contraction System
Intro: The heart has a clear function, which is to constantly pump blood through the body into every
organ that consists of cells. Blood is transported through the body with veins and arteries that are set
up through the body, one having oxygenated blood flowing into the body while the other is poor on
oxygen heading into the lungs for gas exchanges. These pumps the hearts emulates are caused by
electrical stimulation, which produce muscle contraction.
The cardiac cycle has a regular pattern that is determined by electrical activity. It all starts at (SA)
node which is located in the right and left atrium, the also know as the natural peacemaker, where
electrical signals originate. Next, the (AV) node or the Atrioventicular node located on the opposite
side of the (SA) node near the AV valves. The (AV) node serves as a bridge between the atrium and
the ventricle, delaying the electrical impulses to ensure that the atria have completely pump the blood
before the ventricle contraction. Electric signal from the That started from the (SA) node soon reach
the Atrioventicular bundle or referred to as the (AV) bundle which is divided into the right and the left
bundle branches created a path of impulses to the apex, then spreading throughout the myocardium
soon after passing through the purkinje fibers. While the heart goes through this process a certain
machine called ECG recording apparatus records the waves PQRST, which is the pattern of the
cardiac cycle. In the PQRST P represents the contraction of the atria and its usually the beginning of
the cardiac cycle. QRS illustrates the contraction of both ventricles and also shows the completion of

Rhetorical Analysis Of Patrick Henry s Speech To The...
A Rhetorical Analysis of Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia Convention
The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me,
give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life.
Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory Speech to the Virginia Convention. While discussing
with the colonists, Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain,
concluding that there is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneously. In Patrick Henry s Speech to
the Virginia Convention, he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to
influence the assembly to unify and reciprocate.
Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifyingamplifyling loaded words to bring to
attention the predicament between the two opposing sides. The purpose of loaded words are terms to
influence by utilizing positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five,
We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets
the verb of the sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We
have asked; we have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned,
remonstrated and supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is,
compelling them to take action. He continues to go forth near the end in the paragraph seven stating It
is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter (Henry 7). Again he focuses on the verb, in this case, extenuate
to accentuate the seriousness of the dilemma by pleading to the audience that now is the time to act,
rather than wait or else matters will only get more grave. Henry uses amplifying loaded words in his
declamation to his advantage to persuade, almost deceive, in order to oblige his audience to take
matters into their own hands. Patrick Henry displays coherent parallelism in order to highlight the
hardships the colonies had to endure while fusing balance and technique in doing so. Parallelism, or
parallel structure, is a literary method defined as the

INTRODUCTION
Cement is the binding material that holds the concrete together, and is therefore a basic need for every
construction involving concrete or biding of basic blocks like bricks. Also concrete is the second most
consumed material after water, with nearly 3 tonnes used annually for each person in world.
The manufacturing process of cement consists of mixing, drying and grinding of limestone, clay and
silica into composite mass. The

Bo Jackson Info Speech Essay
Bo Jackson I. Introduction a. No matter what people say, multitasking is one of the hardest things to
do. Whether it s play two sports in high school or work two jobs, it s tough to handle all that
responsibility. I myself played two sports in high school and trying to balance that out with school was
a tough enough task in itself. Now imagine having to manage two professional jobs at the same time,
well that s the life Bo Jackson lived, my favorite professional athlete and arguably the best athlete of
all time. Vincent Bo Jackson was born on November 30, 1962 in Bessemer, Alabama. He earned the
nickname Bo early as a child because he was a very rough and competitive kid and his brother

Turned out, it was rather illegal, and he became suspended for the remainder of his senior baseball
season. Bo was extremely furious about that, and it even drove him to choose going to the MLB out of
college over the NFL Draft where he was the clear number one pick. Bo decided to sign with the
Kansas City Royals out of Auburn, where he batted .401 with 17 home runs and 43 RBI s as a senior.
And as if baseball and football wasn t enough sports at a big time university, Bo also ran track and
field his freshman and sophomore years and even considered joining the USA Olympic team, but
opted not to because he wouldn t get any financial security of the MLB or NFL, nor have the time to
train for the Olympics. c. Professional Career ii. Even though Jackson told the Buccaneers he wouldn t
go to the NFL, they still drafted him first overall in the 1985 NFL Draft. He spent the 1986 87 playing
for the Kansas City Royals, but he spent most of those years working his way up the minor leagues.
Following the 1987 season, Jackson decided to pick up football again as a hobby he described it, and
signed with the Los Angeles Raiders. In the 1989 baseball season, he was selected to the All Star game
and a lot of people were skeptical to whether he deserved to be there or not. So Bo did what only Bo

Why Did Saigo Takamori Become A Hero
2421212 Why Did Saigo Takamori Become A Popular Hero? In 2003, the epic war film The Last
Samurai starring Tom Cruise burst on the scene and was well received with a total worldwide box
office of $456 million, and depicted the tragic finale of samurai class under the Meiji government. The
main character, Katsumoto, was loosely based on Saigo Takamori, who launched a rebellion against
the Meiji government that he had strived to establish. Despite being declared as a traitor after the
rebellion, Saigo was celebrated as a legendary hero by common people. They revered Saigo as a
virtuous man, romanticized him as a tragic hero, and idealized him as the embodiment of samurai
spirits. Saigo was celebrated as a virtuous man who lived a frugal life ... Show more content on

Before his resignation, Saigo exercised supreme military power: in 1872 he became Commander in
Chief of all the armed forces and in 1873 was appointed unique rank of Field Marshal. Yet after the
summit of fame and power, his army was crushed by the commoner conscripts they despised, Saigo let
his servant severe his head in the final battle, and his failure became a celebration of the new Japan
and the demise of samurai class. For common people, the fleeting fortune of Saigo the Great from
hero to traitor provoked strong sympathy. The sorrow of fleeting fortune had a long history in Japan.
In the Tales of The Heike, the author lamented upon the unpredictable fortune of the young emperor,
as long life is the name they give to the imperial palace, signaling that one should reside there for
years unending. Yet before he had reached the age of ten, this ruler ended as refuse on the ocean floor.
The traditional sentiments for fleeting fortune was strengthened by the dramatic contrast between the
revered Commander in Chief to a traitor who died in the battlefield against the government Saigo
himself helped to establish. Thus Saigo was romanticized as a martyr for his principles who knew he
would never win and a tragic hero who suffered from fleeting

The Use Of Yoga And Standard Physical Therapy Essay
Statistical Analysis Outline Quantitative Research Question In older women with osteoarthritis (OA),
is there a significant difference in the quality of life between those who participate in yoga and those
who participate in standard physical therapy? Descriptive statistics will be used to describe the
baseline characteristics of the two intervention groups (yoga and standard physical therapy). The
baseline characteristics will include body mass index (BMI) and severity of disease (the Kellgren
Lawrence grading scale for osteoarthritis). Hypothesis 1  Null hypothesis: There will be not be a
difference between the effect of yoga and standard physical therapy on the WOMAC scale at five
weeks in older women diagnosed with OA at a significance level of 0.05.  Alternative hypothesis:

Caballes a warning ticket for speeding the second trooper walked around Roy s car with the narcotics
detection dog. The dog alerted that it had detected narcotics at the rear end of the car which
subsequently led to the state troopers searching the trunk of the car. Upon searching the trunk of the
car the state troopers found a large quantity of marijuana which consequently led to the arrest of Roy
Caballes. The entire incident lasted no longer than 10 minutes. Roy Caballes was convicted of a
narcotics offence and was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay a $256,136 fine. Case

The Murder Of The Murdered Or Suicide Victims
Rationale:
Over the years I have been consistently watching the TV show Bones . In this TV show the main
protagonist is a forensic anthropologist..... Most of the TV shows I have watched over the years have
always had a forensic scientist, or forensic anthropologist. It has always been fascinating how the
forensic analysts could deduce the exact time when a person was murdered to the correct hour and
most times to the correct minute. In each of these TV shows there were three main ways on how the
protagonists determined the time of death of the murdered or suicide victims. The three ways were
rigor mortis, algor mortis, and entomology. Using these methods they had conclusive results on how
the person was murdered and when the person was murdered.
Introduction:
Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws. Forensic scientists collect,
preserve, and analyses scientific evidence during the course of an investigation. It is used in multiple
scenarios regarding criminal cases, but in the following investigation it will be used to determine the
time of death of people. There are three major methods of determining the time of death of the
deceased: Forensic Entomology, Algor Mortis, and Rigor Mortis.
Forensic entomology is used when forensic entomologists study the bugs found on the deceased to
estimate the time of death. Algor mortis is the change in body temperature following death. This is
generally a steady decline until matching the

False imprisonment Ricardo v State Immigration Department [SID] False imprisonment is defined as
intentional and unauthorised restraint or deprivation of a person s liberty. SID was intentionally
wrongful used its authority to cause confinement on Ricardo s liberty. Although there has been no
application of physical force, there was evidence of complete submission by Ricardo to the control of
SID, which eventually satisfied the test drawn from the High Court s decision in Balmain New Ferry
Co Ltd v Robertson. Through the presence of officers, it was apparent that if Ricardo refused to
follow, he would be restrained by force. So the requirement of total restraint was abundantly satisfied.
SID took the action without any requisite warrants or reasonable evidence; a tip off was not enough to
satisfy, so an imprisonment was unlawful since the beginning as they barred exit. No minimum time
limit is specified for constituting of the action on false imprisonment, therefore 20 minute of detention
or even less than that would still constitute an action for false imprisonment. There will be no relevant
defences since the action was unlawfully carried out, without any authorised license or statutory
authority. So SID would be liable for false imprisonment; Ricardo can claim for nominal

The Importance Of Physical Education On American Schools
The Importance of Physical Education in American Schools
Review
Hommes, Tiffany J., Bemidji State University, USA
Background Many children in America do not receive the needed amount of physical activity needed
to maintain a healthy weight. Approximately17% of children are obese (Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation, 2016) and 1 in 3 children are overweight or obese (American Heart Association, 2016).
This is a local and national emergency that needs to be addressed to keep children healthy, prevent
morbidities, and control the costs that are associated with being overweight or obese. Pre diabetes,
type 2 diabetes, and hypertension in children is at an all time high. However, research indicates that
only 3.8 percent of American elementary schools provide daily physical education (Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation, 2007). This paper will discuss the importance of daily physical education in our
schools. There is an abundance of support to provide daily physical education in our schools. First
Lady Michelle Obama (2010) stated that she will lead a national initiative to reverse the childhood
obesity epidemic. In her initiative, she mentioned the intervention of increasing physical activity to
change this epidemic (Obama, 2010). In fact, Healthy People 2020 has objectives to increase the
portion of the America s private and public schools that require daily physical education U.S.

Eureka Phenomenon Essay
There are many times when one sits for long periods thinking and trying to find solutions to their
issues, be it in mathematics, or in relationships, or even in challenging games. Often, however, the
answer to the question is found not by deliberately looking for the solution, but while doing leisurely
activities and seeing or hearing something that makes them realize the answer to their problem. Isaac
Asimov goes into detail about this experience in his essay The Eureka Phenomenon which can also be
observed in the film Zootopia, directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore. Asimov takes on a
decidedly alternative method to solving problematic situations. In his essay, he is emphatic that

The Noble Knight In Thomas Malory s Morte Darthur
During Malory s Morte Darthur , the noble knights such as Lancelot, Gawain, Agravain, and Gareth
represent the ideals of knightliness. Malory seems to be implying that Sir Lancelot although King
Arthur s biggest betrayer was still the noblest of knights despite his adultery. Sir Lancelot during the
story is portrayed as the measure in which all knights worth is metered by. As just a knight Lancelot is
held as the man of which many worship, slightly more than even King Arthur, making Lancelot the
main idol of the text. Being a knight nobility, honor, and worship was an imperative skill in the role of
leadership, for a leader often were those who had proven themselves on and off the battlefield. For
others to look over Sire Lancelot and Queen Guinevere s secret affair insinuates that they respected Sir
Lancelot more than King Arthur. In Sir Thomas Malory s Morte Darthur the implication of the story is
that honor is obtained by holding up to the responsibilities one may have more so than relationships
they are involved in. Sir Agravain and Sir Mordred brought the Queen and Sir Lancelot s affair up
amongst the group of knights. To a reader, it shows a semi dislike to Sir Lancelot that they both would
make such noise over this. Sir Gawain reminds them both that they, must remember how often time
Sir Lancelot hath rescued the King and Queen (483). Gawain looks to Sir Lancelot as an honorable
knight disbelieving that his fellow knights would accuse him of such accusations.

Symptoms And Treatment Of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
In the current world population there is a large increase in people diagnosed with inflammatory bowel
diseases (IBDs), lactose intolerance and/or a combination of the two. Theories suggest that the delayed
onset of lactose intolerance, in patients who already have IBD s, may arise as secondary lactose
intolerance but only as a byproduct of the IBD. This begs the question of if the prevalence of an IBD
predisposes that same person to lactose intolerance and if so, what are the drivers that allow this to
happen? Inflammatory bowel diseases are categorized into two subset categories, ulcerative colitis
(UC) and Crohn s disease. IBD s are defined as a chronic inflammation of all or part of a digestive
tract. The inflammation takes place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who are lactose intolerant also have diminishes levels of lactase, the small intestinal enzyme
responsible for the catalysis of lactose. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some
cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance.
During infancy the vast majority of humans have the ability to digest and catabolize lactose into
glucose and galactose via the lactase enzyme. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn mammals,
given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the weaning
period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of the lactase
enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose. While this may
be the natural progression of the expression of the lactase enzyme, there remains a large,
predominantly western population that maintains a steady production of lactase, those individuals are
known as lactase persistent (Baumgart, et al.).
Lactase Persistence Causes: Lactase persistence has been strongly suggested to be a function of
genetic causes and its inheritance occurs in an autosomal recessive manner. Individuals that exhibit the
highest lactase activity are genotypically homozygous recessive for lactase persistence; where as
individuals who show lower lactase activities are heterozygous or homozygous

According to my analysis, the problems are distrust between the managers and employees and
unfairness of rewards between the employees and supervisors. In order to keep productivity and
profitability of the plant, it should resolve the issues urgently before the situation deteriorated further. I
recommend the option two is better for Bent to deal with these problems for the plant. Firstly,
communication is the most important factor that affects the relationship between managers and
employees. If the managers could listen advices of the work in time from their employees, it not only
will be more easier to handle the existing problem in the company, but also will improve the
relationship between managers and employees because the staff feel the company takes, to respect and
to trust them, feel oneself is in enterprise s one, and they can have the confidence and the sense of
responsibility for the development of their company. Secondly, it is to give the appreciation by
managers to employees frequently that will improve the employee morale because they will feel more
attached to their company. As the result of this, employees will devote to their work without any
complaint. Consequently, because of the improvement of relationship and employee morale, the
efficiency and productivity of company will improve with the efforts of all staff and give them

Like each other part of human advancement, mathematics has its own particular birthplace focused
around the needs of humanity in searching for understanding. Mathematics emerged from the
necessity to quantify time and number. The earliest evidence of counting occurred in mountains of
Africa were notched bones and scored pieces of wood and stone were discovered. As human
advancements started to surface in Asia and the near east, frameworks and essential appreciation of
arithmetic, geometry and polynomial math started to develop. Mathematics has made a lot of progress

Those who are diagnosed with Alzheimer s experience an array of troubling symptoms. It usually
begins with the person forgetting their short term memory. Because Alzheimer s begins in the
hippocampus the learning part of the brain they may have trouble remembering names when they are
introduced to new people. In the second stage of Alzheimer s disease, patients can expect to be
disoriented at times, have sudden mood and behavior changes, and often develop suspicions about
their family, friends, or caregivers. During the end of this stage, they may also experience
hallucinations, delusions, and have extreme paranoia. During the third and final stage of Alzheimer s,
patients have difficulty speaking, walking, and swallowing. In this final stage, the brain shrinks to
about one fourth the size of a normal brain, and the person will most likely pass away. Those who
have been diagnosed with Alzheimer s disease are expected to live only about eight years after their
diagnosis, due to its progressive nature and worsening over

Florida Living
The Florida landscape has inspired many individuals to write about the natural beauty of the
land. Florida has many environmental qualities that draws people to it. This state of Florida
has a truly unique habitat, and some of it is unexplainable. The flora and fauna of the state of
Florida is an anomaly, containing palm frond wasps that are aggressive, and mean snakes
of all sorts. Cultures converge in this melting pot of the United States. Florida is unique place
that is all its own.
The Everglades have many mysteries to hold. Sit in the quiet and see what you can hear. The
noises and the utter silence are eerie. Sydney Lanier explains that upon the entering of the Saint ...

We have come to understand some of the wildlife that the inhabits this area and how
ponderous and dangerous they can be. Fowl and reptiles are plenty. Birds with sharp beaks and
poisonous creatures, deadly to those who are unsuspecting, of those whom are not from the area.
Alligators are not that uncommon, and yet the local flamingos are white or so pale pink that if
you blink, you will miss them. The wildlife of the area is often found to be odd or even scary by
visitors.
Many of the native Seminole Indians are still in the area, although they are deemed to

Cinematography In Batman Begins
What is cinematography? Cinematography is the ability to transform and capture all moving aspect of
a motion picture. This process cannot be acquired without the help of the cinematographer whose job
is to make sure that the shot, take and setup match the views of the director in order to depict the story
of the film. The shot, take and setup fall within four broader categories: The cinematographic
properties of the shot, the framing of the shot, the speed and length of the shot and the special effects
each of which help intrigued the audience and impel them to watch the film. Film stock, lighting and
lenses make up the cinematographic properties of the shot. In the film, Batman Begins the
cinematographer used a mixture of black, white and color film stock.
The use of the black and white film stock helped create an illusion between good and evil. ... Show

Yet, both types of film stock incorporate the use of light. Lighting shapes how the lenses will capture
the pictures that will guide the audience throughout the story. There are two types of light: natural and
artificial, which come from different sources. Natural light comes from nature such as the sun and
artificial light come from instruments. Depending on the direction of the light and its source the
quality of the picture will be affected. In Batman Begins a scene that stood out the most as a good
representation of the properties of the shot is when Bruce Wane is trying to keep a spear head away
from Rachel. In this scene, he tries to hind inside of an old well which has been boarded up. As he is

Changes- Tupac Shakur Influences on Society Essay
We talk a lot about Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., but it s time to be like them, as strong as
them. They were mortal men like us and every one of us can be like them. I don t want to be a role
model. I just want to be someone who says, this is who I am, this is what I do. I say what s on my
mind. Tupac Amaru Shakur (T.I.P). This quote was spoken by one of hip hop s most legendary idols,
Tupac Shakur. Tupac has become an integral icon of the hip hop culture and will live on eternally
through his dynamic lyrics and poems. Most of Tupac s raps concerned growing up around violence
and hardships in ghettos, and racial inequality in the United States. He experienced many of these
factors growing up, especially race related ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a grammar and literacy to each of these forms of communication. Bombarded with a wide
variety of images regularly, students need sharp visual interpretation skills to interact with the media
analytically. Each form of communication has its own rules and grammar and should be taught in
ways that lead students to be more specific and concise in communicating (Edutopia).
So remediating a text through a different tool ultimately will change the way it is communicated to its
audience. For example, imagine the oratory medium that Tupac used to convey his hit song, Changes
was instead only a written form of the lyrics. This traditional technology would not only affect the
message behind the song but the audience s acceptance of it. The second way I have communicated
this song is visually. I have constructed a collage of what I thought the song was trying to convey. This
leaves area for the original message to be interpreted differently among each individual and losing
sight of the originality of it. Although these mediums are proper for some texts, I think that Tupac
choose the correct form, auditory to communicate his message. I began my remediation process

Examples Of Realism In A Doll s House
Henrik Ibsen is regarded as the inventor of realism . Realism is a movement in theatre that first began
at the end of the nineteenth century. In a realism play social and domestic problems are explored as
they would actually happen in a real life situation. We are presented with a portrayal of humanity and
life as it occurs in real life. It is evidently clear from reading Ibsen s A Doll s House that this play was
written in the form of realism. Ibsen does not shadow any aspect of life in Norway in the nineteenth
century in this play. It is clear that during this time power was very important. It was a patriarchal
society which oppressed both males and females as they struggled to confine to the strict regulations
of the society of that time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We see how Torvald was most concerned about what people would think should Nora leave him rather
than the actual heartbreak of his marriage disintegrating. From this moment happiness is not the
question; all that concerns us is to save the remains, the fragments, the appearance¬ . Ibsen (2008)
[Act Three]. Once everybody thought that everything in the Helmer household was perfectly fine and
happy that was all that mattered. Some might argue that this is just Torvald being superficial and that
he never really cared for his wife, however as much as I agree with that statement I think the society in
which he lived in also played a major part in his opinion on the matter. Everything in society was
based on your appearance; you needed to present your life in the best light possible if you were to
retain your status. As Torvald, possessed a high status job as the bank manager it is clear that his
reputation was running through his mind when having the conversation with Nora. How painful and
humiliating it would be for Torvald, with his manly independence, to know that he owed me anything!
[Act One] It is clear that it is the man s duty to care for his wife and not the other way around as this
would be emasculating for the

Essay about The NRA Killed Gun Control Legislation
The NRA Killed Gun Control Legislation
By the year 2003, it is expected that firearms will cause the most injury related deaths in the United
States, surpassing even automobile accidents. Poll after poll have revealed that most Americans favor
stricter gun control laws. Five recent suburban school shootings have demonstrated that when guns
and kids mix, tragedy results. Yet gun control legislation remains at a standstill.
The battle for stricter gun control laws has not been without victories. In 1968, Congress passed the
Gun Control Act in the wake of the assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr., President John F.
Kennedy, and Senator Robert Kennedy. The law mandated stricter licensing requirements, prohibited
the sale of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the thrill of the above victories could not prevent the agony of defeat that the country faced
between October 1997 and June 1998. There were five suburban school shootings in that time, in
Pearl Mississippi, West Paducah, Kentucky; Jonesboro, Arkansa;, Edinboro, Pennsylvania; and
Springfield, Oregon. This unspeakable violence left sixteen dead, including eleven children and
teenagers. The shooters ranged in age from 11 to 16 years old.
Although no one can explain the why of these tragedies, recent statistics give insight into the how : A
1990 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) survey found that one in twenty high school students had
carried a gun in the past month, while a 1994 Harris poll found that only one in five students would
tell a teacher if he or she knew that another student was bringing weapons to school. Where do these
kids get their guns? The Harris poll found that only 43% of parents of minors keep their guns safely
locked, which means that an estimated 1.2 million latchkey elementary school students can access the
guns kept in their houses. The consequences of the latter statistic were brutally obvious in Jonesboro,
when sixth grader Andrew Golden and eighth grader Mitchell Johnson opened fire on a crowd of
students with guns taken from a glass

Summary Of Paul Begg And John Bennett s Jack The Ripper
In Paul Begg and John Bennett 2012 published book, Jack the Ripper, they use over thirty specialized
maps and reconstructed images to help bring to life the lives of people that died at the hands of the
infamous murderer. The only certain fact about Mary Jane Kelly short life was the date given for her
death, November 9, 1888. Most of her life story is shrouded in mystery and communicated without
any real verification ever supplied, and much of it was recounted by her former lover Joseph Barnett
during the investigation into her murder. It s accepted that she was born in Limerick, Ireland and
belonged to a family having several brothers and a sister. Mary admits to one marriage that lasted for
about three years before her husband met his untimely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the months leading up to her murder, a growing dependency on alcohol and an increased
participation in prostitution created a rift between Mary and Joseph. The relationship had become so
quarrelsome that Barnett eventually decided on vacating their shared residence on 13 Miller Court,
just off Dorset Street. Mary was not a literate person or skilled in any particular kind of work, and this
afforded her little opportunity to social climb and rise above her current desperate situation. Without
receiving financial support from her family members, a legal husband, or Barrett s share of income, it
appears she resigned to prostitution as a full time profession. Consequently, this choice led to the
disintegration of life and ultimately prey to a sinister killer. The evening before her death, it appears
from witness statements, that Mary was living her life in the manner she was accustomed to; drinking,
singing, carousing, and taking on clients. Sometime in the early morning hours of November 9, 1888,
she found her way back home after possibly introducing herself to the man that would become her

  • 2. Miserable Routines In Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton There was no way out none. He was a prisoner for life, and now his one ray of light to be extinguished (Wharton 29). Miserable routines caused by terrible occurrences trappes Ethan Frome every single day. Edith Wharton opposes the idea of following any routine. Wharton expresses that routines and cycles prevent a person from expressing their own desires or achieving their personal goals in life. These cycles prohibit a person from seeing changes within their environment and possible opportunities that could improve their life. Even if a person breaks free from a routine, an endless amount of reasons exist to pull them back in. Ethan Frome momentarily escapes from his daily routine to pursue his education, but not far into this break he has to return in order to help his family. Ethan Frome somehow found a way out of his miserable routine, but failed to take that exit; resulting in a life much worse than before. Finding a way out seems like a reasonable solution to escape bad situations, but taking such a great risk to completely change one s entire life, seems nearly impossible for any citizens of Starkfield. In the novella, Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton exemplifies how routines deny a person from reaching their full potential through the constant pull Ethan and other members of Starkfield receive to follow their normal, average routine and not follow their desires. The Frome household contained many illnesses over many years, bringing in people outside of the immediate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Summary Of The Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of... Written between 1904 and 1905, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism is the fundamental and best known work of Max Weber, a German philosopher and sociologist who was also a political man: I chose this book because I was curious about the theories on how capitalism emerged and because I have heard of Max Weber before which could make this report less complex for me. In this book Weber notes that the Protestant religion is the predominant among the German capitalist classes. With the difference between Protestant capitalists and Catholic capitalists, Weber concludes that Protestant ideology in one way or another promotes the construction of capitalism. Max Weber begins his book pointing out how there was a common factor in his society, business leaders and owners of capital, as well as the higher grades of skilled labour, and even more the higher technically and commercially trained personnel of modern enterprises, are overwhelmingly Protestant (3). This message unveils the sociological themes of the conflict theory and how culture affects society. His style of writing is expository and persuasive, for this book can be treated as a lengthy essay. Weber notes that the Protestant religion is the predominant among the German capitalist classes. Being the difference between Protestant capitalists and Catholic capitalists, Weber concludes that Protestant ideology in one way or another promotes the construction of capitalism. The ethics of capitalism argue that the supreme end of our life is the acquisition of wealth by themselves, the pursuit of enrichment is not seen as a means to an end; the capitalist entrepreneur does not seek to enrich himself to retire but seeks enrichment for himself. Enjoyment, rest or withdrawal are not the objectives of the capitalist mentality, although it may be the end of the members of capitalist economies that are not integrated into the system. One of the concepts that this book talks about is some of the essence of the macro level process of capitalism. He tried to correlate the fact that the people who have wealth and have the control over production, or capitalists, had a different way of seeing what was in front of them. He said that capitalism acts as an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

San Francisco 1915 San Francisco 1915 Palace of Fine Arts The Palace of Fine Arts was one of the finest buildings constructed for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco. It was one of the most important symbols of the fair, situated near its center, at the end of the axis on which were located the Courts of the Four Seasons and of the Universe at the center, and the Court of Abundance, with the Machinery Palace framing the other side. The Palace was designed by a well known local architect, Bernard Maybeck (b. New York, New York 1882; d. Berkeley, California 1957) who studied architecture at the Paris Ecole des Beaux Arts. There were ochre columns, topped by boxes, mixed with pale green ones. The boxes were originally meant to house small trees and hanging vines, but these were not planted for budgetary reasons. At each corner of the boxes stood statues of women looking inwards, sculpted by Ulric Ellerhusen. They were meant to represent the melancholy of life without art. The colonnades stood along the side of the lagoon, as can be seen in the second image, with the reflection of the tranquil water adding a pleasant element. Along the side of the walkway in the pergola was a garden of small trees and shrubbery. Plants were present everywhere in the Palace, along the pergola and the rotunda, befitting the theme of a decaying ruin, overrun by nature. According to Maybeck, it is the water and the trees that people came to see (Macomber, 23). The natural scenery was integral to his design. The combination of majestic ... • 8. Rhetorical Analysis Of Charleston Hope Rhetorical Analysis In the view of Lloyd Blitzer, he explains what makes situations rhetorical that is identical to a moral act . His definition of a moral act is when you act or preform by any situation. He shows examples of different types of rhetorical analysis that happened in the past. Blitzer states that a rhetorical analysis is a change in reality. Therefore, he is saying that it is an action or new information that is to be addressed or known. He states that rhetorical analysis should be followed by a rhetorical method. Blitzer mentioned that there are three main components when writing a rhetorical analysis. One component to look for is referred to as exigence. Exigence is the reason you are proving something. Audience is the part of a rhetorical analysis that involves people that you are trying to get to understand your situation. Lloyd stated that everyone is being capable by the change of speech. From my perspective, Blitzer s rhetorical audience consists only of people who are more likely influenced by discourse and have the possibility of becoming mediators of change. The final component is constraint. Constraint deals with limitation and restrictions in a rhetorical analysis. • 9. Compare And Contrast Cash Flow Budget Vs Comprehensive Budget The first thing to consider in deciding whether a cash flow budget would be more useful than a comprehensive budget, is why they are different. Firstly, the comprehensive is one budget for a designated period, such as 6 or 12 months. All income is calculated as one total, and each expense is calculated for the entire period. Whereas, a cash flow budget is broken down into shorter periods, generally per month, it provides a better look at how money is being spent each month. For someone with inconsistent monthly income, this is a great type of budget since it compares your income to expenses during those short times. Sometimes you may have a budget deficit, and some months a surplus, a cash flow budget would show you that, whereas, the comprehensive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Reflection Paper On Being A Counselor As a potential counselor, there are different reasons why I choose this journey to be a helper, servant and a leader. Not only was my early experiences in life a stepping stone towards this path, but my faith in God and the realities of life led me as well. Even though I am still creating my future towards this goal, there is no doubt that I am called to be in servitude to others. In this journey, I am appreciating the learning fundamentals I have gained from the academic coursework, professionals/teachers and experience that I have encountered to be molded into a multicultural competent counselor. By taking advantage of this opportunity of learning, I have chosen a theoretical orientation that best suits me as a potential clinician according to my beliefs, values and logical thinking. It is also noteworthy to indicate that the self awareness of my beliefs, values, interests and thought process has been further explored due to the assessments and activities of the Life Story Board, Meyer Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Strong Interest Inventory (SII), My Career Story, and Career Genogram, including a reflection of my spiritual walk with Christ. Life Story Board As everyone has a story of their journey, my story begins as a child growing up in a traditional Hispanic/Latino home in a south suburb of Chicago. At a young age, I recognized that I viewed life differently in comparison to my peers, siblings and parents. My thought process was very logical, which helped me make rational decisions. It was not often that I made choices according to my emotions and feelings, but rather choices of what I thought would benefit me in the long run. However, many of my choices and protests that I did make were against the norm within my traditional Hispanic/Latino home, gender roles, and religious beliefs. As I reviewed my Life Story Board, I was able to identify different stages of my childhood/adolescence/teens were I had either a negative, or a negative/positive experience due to the challenges and consequences of my logical thought process and actions/reactions. It was a very confusing time for me to live in a culture where I was constantly being challenged for who I was, without feeling understood. Another highlight of my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Muscle Contraction System Intro: The heart has a clear function, which is to constantly pump blood through the body into every organ that consists of cells. Blood is transported through the body with veins and arteries that are set up through the body, one having oxygenated blood flowing into the body while the other is poor on oxygen heading into the lungs for gas exchanges. These pumps the hearts emulates are caused by electrical stimulation, which produce muscle contraction. The cardiac cycle has a regular pattern that is determined by electrical activity. It all starts at (SA) node which is located in the right and left atrium, the also know as the natural peacemaker, where electrical signals originate. Next, the (AV) node or the Atrioventicular node located on the opposite side of the (SA) node near the AV valves. The (AV) node serves as a bridge between the atrium and the ventricle, delaying the electrical impulses to ensure that the atria have completely pump the blood before the ventricle contraction. Electric signal from the That started from the (SA) node soon reach the Atrioventicular bundle or referred to as the (AV) bundle which is divided into the right and the left bundle branches created a path of impulses to the apex, then spreading throughout the myocardium soon after passing through the purkinje fibers. While the heart goes through this process a certain machine called ECG recording apparatus records the waves PQRST, which is the pattern of the cardiac cycle. In the PQRST P represents the contraction of the atria and its usually the beginning of the cardiac cycle. QRS illustrates the contraction of both ventricles and also shows the completion of the cardiac depolarization. Finally the T wave represents the relaxation of the ventricles and it s the end of ... • 18. Rhetorical Analysis Of Patrick Henry s Speech To The... A Rhetorical Analysis of Patrick Henry s Speech To The Virginia Convention The prominent patriot Patrick Henry once said, I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death! (Henry 7) implying that a life without liberty is not a righteous life. Henry s quote is included in his popular oratory Speech to the Virginia Convention. While discussing with the colonists, Henry lists all of the discrepancies the thirteen colonies had with Great Britain, concluding that there is no other option, but to retaliate instantaneously. In Patrick Henry s Speech to the Virginia Convention, he utilizes amplifying loaded words and coherent parallelism in order to influence the assembly to unify and reciprocate. Throughout the entirety of his speech, Henry presents amplifyingamplifyling loaded words to bring to attention the predicament between the two opposing sides. The purpose of loaded words are terms to influence by utilizing positive or negative connotations. For example, Henry claims in paragraph five, We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated... (Henry 5). He particularly targets the verb of the sentences by altering their meaning, to add a kick to the phrase. Rather than state, We have asked; we have protested, we have begged, Henry offers more potent terms, such as petitioned, remonstrated and supplicated, to emphasize how perilous the situation between the two countries is, compelling them to take action. He continues to go forth near the end in the paragraph seven stating It is in vain, sir, to extenuate the matter (Henry 7). Again he focuses on the verb, in this case, extenuate to accentuate the seriousness of the dilemma by pleading to the audience that now is the time to act, rather than wait or else matters will only get more grave. Henry uses amplifying loaded words in his declamation to his advantage to persuade, almost deceive, in order to oblige his audience to take matters into their own hands. Patrick Henry displays coherent parallelism in order to highlight the hardships the colonies had to endure while fusing balance and technique in doing so. In 2003, the epic war film The Last Samurai starring Tom Cruise burst on the scene and was well received with a total worldwide box office of $456 million, and depicted the tragic finale of samurai class under the Meiji government. The main character, Katsumoto, was loosely based on Saigo Takamori, who launched a rebellion against the Meiji government that he had strived to establish. Despite being declared as a traitor after the rebellion, Saigo was celebrated as a legendary hero by common people. Before his resignation, Saigo exercised supreme military power: in 1872 he became Commander in Chief of all the armed forces and in 1873 was appointed unique rank of Field Marshal. Yet after the summit of fame and power, his army was crushed by the commoner conscripts they despised, Saigo let his servant severe his head in the final battle, and his failure became a celebration of the new Japan and the demise of samurai class. For common people, the fleeting fortune of Saigo the Great from hero to traitor provoked strong sympathy. The sorrow of fleeting fortune had a long history in Japan. In the Tales of The Heike, the author lamented upon the unpredictable fortune of the young emperor, as long life is the name they give to the imperial palace, signaling that one should reside there for years unending. Yet before he had reached the age of ten, this ruler ended as refuse on the ocean floor. The traditional sentiments for fleeting fortune was strengthened by the dramatic contrast between the revered Commander in Chief to a traitor who died in the battlefield against the government Saigo himself helped to establish. In this TV show the main protagonist is a forensic anthropologist..... Most of the TV shows I have watched over the years have always had a forensic scientist, or forensic anthropologist. It has always been fascinating how the forensic analysts could deduce the exact time when a person was murdered to the correct hour and most times to the correct minute. In each of these TV shows there were three main ways on how the protagonists determined the time of death of the murdered or suicide victims. SID was intentionally wrongful used its authority to cause confinement on Ricardo s liberty. Although there has been no application of physical force, there was evidence of complete submission by Ricardo to the control of SID, which eventually satisfied the test drawn from the High Court s decision in Balmain New Ferry Co Ltd v Robertson. Through the presence of officers, it was apparent that if Ricardo refused to follow, he would be restrained by force. So the requirement of total restraint was abundantly satisfied. SID took the action without any requisite warrants or reasonable evidence; a tip off was not enough to satisfy, so an imprisonment was unlawful since the beginning as they barred exit. No minimum time limit is specified for constituting of the action on false imprisonment, therefore 20 minute of detention or even less than that would still constitute an action for false imprisonment. Malory seems to be implying that Sir Lancelot although King Arthur s biggest betrayer was still the noblest of knights despite his adultery. Sir Lancelot during the story is portrayed as the measure in which all knights worth is metered by. As just a knight Lancelot is held as the man of which many worship, slightly more than even King Arthur, making Lancelot the main idol of the text. Being a knight nobility, honor, and worship was an imperative skill in the role of leadership, for a leader often were those who had proven themselves on and off the battlefield. For others to look over Sire Lancelot and Queen Guinevere s secret affair insinuates that they respected Sir Lancelot more than King Arthur. In Sir Thomas Malory s Morte Darthur the implication of the story is that honor is obtained by holding up to the responsibilities one may have more so than relationships they are involved in. Sir Agravain and Sir Mordred brought the Queen and Sir Lancelot s affair up amongst the group of knights. To a reader, it shows a semi dislike to Sir Lancelot that they both would make such noise over this. Those who are lactose intolerant also have diminishes levels of lactase, the small intestinal enzyme responsible for the catalysis of lactose. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance. During infancy the vast majority of humans have the ability to digest and catabolize lactose into glucose and galactose via the lactase enzyme. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn mammals, given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the weaning period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of the lactase enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose. While this may be the natural progression of the expression of the lactase enzyme, there remains a large, predominantly western population that maintains a steady production of lactase, those individuals are known as lactase persistent (Baumgart, et al.). Lactase Persistence Causes: Lactase persistence has been strongly suggested to be a function of genetic causes and its inheritance occurs in an autosomal recessive manner. They were mortal men like us and every one of us can be like them. I don t want to be a role model. I just want to be someone who says, this is who I am, this is what I do. I say what s on my mind. Tupac Amaru Shakur (T.I.P). This quote was spoken by one of hip hop s most legendary idols, Tupac Shakur. Tupac has become an integral icon of the hip hop culture and will live on eternally through his dynamic lyrics and poems. Bombarded with a wide variety of images regularly, students need sharp visual interpretation skills to interact with the media analytically. Each form of communication has its own rules and grammar and should be taught in ways that lead students to be more specific and concise in communicating (Edutopia). So remediating a text through a different tool ultimately will change the way it is communicated to its audience. For example, imagine the oratory medium that Tupac used to convey his hit song, Changes was instead only a written form of the lyrics. This traditional technology would not only affect the message behind the song but the audience s acceptance of it. The second way I have communicated this song is visually. I have constructed a collage of what I thought the song was trying to convey. This leaves area for the original message to be interpreted differently among each individual and losing sight of the originality of it. Although these mediums are proper for some texts, I think that Tupac choose the correct form, auditory to communicate his message. I began my remediation process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Examples Of Realism In A Doll s House Henrik Ibsen is regarded as the inventor of realism . Realism is a movement in theatre that first began at the end of the nineteenth century. In a realism play social and domestic problems are explored as they would actually happen in a real life situation. We are presented with a portrayal of humanity and life as it occurs in real life. It is evidently clear from reading Ibsen s A Doll s House that this play was written in the form of realism. Ibsen does not shadow any aspect of life in Norway in the nineteenth century in this play. It is clear that during this time power was very important. It was a patriarchal society which oppressed both males and females as they struggled to confine to the strict regulations of the society of that time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We see how Torvald was most concerned about what people would think should Nora leave him rather than the actual heartbreak of his marriage disintegrating. From this moment happiness is not the question; all that concerns us is to save the remains, the fragments, the appearance¬ . Ibsen (2008) [Act Three]. Once everybody thought that everything in the Helmer household was perfectly fine and happy that was all that mattered. Some might argue that this is just Torvald being superficial and that he never really cared for his wife, however as much as I agree with that statement I think the society in which he lived in also played a major part in his opinion on the matter. Everything in society was based on your appearance; you needed to present your life in the best light possible if you were to retain your status. As Torvald, possessed a high status job as the bank manager it is clear that his reputation was running through his mind when having the conversation with Nora. Poll after poll have revealed that most Americans favor stricter gun control laws. Five recent suburban school shootings have demonstrated that when guns and kids mix, tragedy results. Yet gun control legislation remains at a standstill. The battle for stricter gun control laws has not been without victories. However, the thrill of the above victories could not prevent the agony of defeat that the country faced between October 1997 and June 1998. There were five suburban school shootings in that time, in Pearl Mississippi, West Paducah, Kentucky; Jonesboro, Arkansa;, Edinboro, Pennsylvania; and Springfield, Oregon. This unspeakable violence left sixteen dead, including eleven children and teenagers. The shooters ranged in age from 11 to 16 years old. Although no one can explain the why of these tragedies, recent statistics give insight into the how : A 1990 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) survey found that one in twenty high school students had carried a gun in the past month, while a 1994 Harris poll found that only one in five students would tell a teacher if he or she knew that another student was bringing weapons to school. Where do these kids get their guns? The Harris poll found that only 43% of parents of minors keep their guns safely locked, which means that an estimated 1.2 million latchkey elementary school students can access the guns kept in their houses. The consequences of the latter statistic were brutally obvious in Jonesboro, when sixth grader Andrew Golden and eighth grader Mitchell Johnson opened fire on a crowd of students with guns taken from a glass ...
