I am currently enrolled in Calculus and I am feeling overwhelmed because just the year before I
had only taken Algebra II so a jump from Algebra to Calculus is pretty big because I skipped
Trigonometry and Precalculus. I felt overwhelmed so I saw this choice on the Application
Activity 2 I chose to go for tutoring. The tutor I chose is the Valedictorian and she could have
chose to graduate as early as last year. She is currently taking this last semester here and then
graduating and going to New Mexico Tech.
I had a C in calculus when I chose to get my tutor to help me with test corrections and a few
homework assignments that were worth a lot of points. Alyssa my tutor really helped me
understand what I did wrong on my test and with the corrections she had me do I was able to
bring my grade from a C to a B. The test had me deal with limits of functions and before I really
didn t understand on the first question I was very close to the correct answer but I factored
incorrectly and on the second question I remembered a vital rule in limits which is 1 divided by

that confused me quite a lot and after getting tutored these functions make sense to me and I can

Nowadays, the preferred pathway for a nurse discovered at work under the influence of drugs or

The IPN was: established in 1983 through legislative action to ensure public health and safety
through a program that provides close monitoring of nurses who are unsafe to practice due to
impairment as a result of misuse or abuse of alcohol or drugs, or both, or due to a mental or
physical condition which could affect the licensee s ability to practice with skill and safety.

The realization that, when suffering from a substance use disorder, a nurse deserves the same care
and treatment that we would offer to anyone else has led to the development of these alternative to
discipline programs around the country, and in Florida it is the IPN.
Its programs allow nurses to receive treatment and rehabilitation in a non punitive manner. If the
nurse agrees to withdraw from practice and complete the program the IPN will then facilitate the
successful return of that nurse to practice, all the while maintaining confidentiality even from the
Board of Nursing.
