Lenovo’s Acquisition of Ibm’s Pc Division
Case study
Lenovo s Acquisition of IBM s PC Division:
A Short cut to be a World Player or a Lemon that Leads Nowhere?
1. General presentation
2. Identification of problem, causes and negative effects
Strategic problem definition: Acquisition of IBM PC division as part of the expansion strategy.
Causes: Lenovo was number 9 on PC market and had 2.2% market share worldwide and therefore it
wanted to increase its market share position. Lenovo became a market leader in China with 27%
market share and wanted to expand. They first tried to diversify into non PC areas but they failed and
consequently they decided to concentrate only on PC products. ... Show more content on

o acquiring LG Laptops (option 3.4.) would lead to a small increase, as LG is not one of the big laptop
producers. o expanding in the non PC area via smartphones (option 3.5.) would not do anything for
the current market share, as we would be talking about a different market segment altogether.
It provides quick and extensive access to a large distribution network of retail and corporate
customers, lowering distribution costs (the same goes for option 3.3., which also brings Lenovo
contact with IBM s network) o option 3.2. keeps Lenovo isolated in the home market o option 3.4.
would bring with it a small distribution network, proportionate to the small size of the LG laptop
division. o option 3.5. might mean a possibly large network, but, as it is in another production sector,
so it could not be easily coupled with Lenovo s existing one.
It provides the possibility of brand capitalization, in the sense that Lenovo would take advantage of
the reputation and customer base of IBM and incorporate them through the acquisition, lowering
marketing costs o in the case of a merger, the brand name would be probably shared for the whole
duration of the partnership. o under options 3.4. and 3.5., as said before, LG is not a brand name in IT
or in smartphones, so Lenovo could not use this to attract more

Engagement And CMOP-E
Theory: The Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement (CMOP E) is a further
expansion of the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance (CMOP). The theories underpinning
the CMOP E largely include humanistic theories, with a particular focus on client centred therapy
developed from Carl Rogers (Townsend Polatajko, 2007). As the name infers, the main focus of the
CMOP is on occupational performance and exploring the interplay between the person, environment
and occupation. While CMOP E maintains this view, it also encompasses engagement; and just like
performance, engagement is also a result of the interdependent relationship between the person,
environment and occupation. In conjunction with performance, engagement was

Tornado Script
Tornado Script
By: Rachel Lee
My name is Rachel Lee. What is severe weather? Is a tornado a type of severe weather? If you want to
know, it is yes. A tornado is a type of severe weather. A tornado is a violent, and narrow row of air that
moves fast in a circular way, which comes from a thunderstorm to the earth. Tornadoes are recognized
or known as cyclones. Cyclones can also be hurricanes, typhoons, or more. They are storms that
counts as severe weather and move quickly around in a circular way. A tornado happens during a bad
thunderstorm. Winds up high blow faster than winds down and lower. They both go in directions,
which makes a circular motion. Then it starts to rotate faster and faster until it creates a tornado.
Before the tornado hits, it dangles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Things inside the tornado does not get much damage. Things that are thrown aside or hit by debris get
much more damage. Some people could get killed, and some are very injured. Little people are left
unharmed. You need to pick a place where anyone can find and be at if a tornado comes. Make sure
that everyone is safe. Also, you have to close the windows, if a safe room has windows. But, try to
stay in a safe place without windows. A tornado looks like a thin rope and twirls fast in a circular way.
The winds from a tornado can swish across and go toward the land as quickly as 100 300 miles per
hour. One well known storm is the Great Tri State Tornado. This tornado was devastating and
incredible because it went through three states; Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana in less than 4 hours.
Another very well known storm is the Flint Beecher Tornado. A tornado had struck the cities Flint and
Beecher in Michigan. It had hit at night, so it was more difficult to understand that there was a
tornado, where it is currently, and what it will damage. In the United States, in the Midwest, it is also
known as the Tornado Alley. There, a lot of tornadoes occur. In the Midwest, they have tornado

All Quiet in the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque...
Erich Maria Remarque, All Quiet in the Western Front expresses the emotions and physical states that
soldiers experience in battles. The novel illustrates great struggle that Paul, a young soldier that
voluntarily enrolled in war has to go through in order to survive. Eager and ready to join Paul sees the
horror of war. In contrast, Joseph Boyden tells a story between two best friends that join the war and
become professional snipers. Elijah and Xavier, growing up from a native culture, Xavier strictly
follows his native beliefs while Elijah loses knowledge of his native background and adapts to the
white culture. Elijah loses himself to drugs and becoming windigo, committing many murders to gain
the respect and name of the best sniper. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Realizing the true meaning of war Paul starts to go into depression, entering a state where is unable to
feel or care for anyone. In addition of the impact of death, Paul is constantly questioning why they
must fight and kill, showing care and affection even for his enemies. This is shown after capturing
Russian soldiers and keeping them as slaves Paul comes across as seeing them as human, where Paul
says, A word of command has made these silent figures our enemies; a word of command might
transform them into our friends (Remarque, 193). Showing hostility for the Russian slaves that he
feels can be friends. Questions to why they are enemies, he sees that commanding the silent soldiers
make them enemies but with no war they are friends. With all these men having families and children
he cannot kill take a father away from their family. In an end result Paul has no reason to live and can t
live in a world the constant killing of innocent lives. This is seen when Paul sees no more healing to
life, after meeting his family on leave he cannot feel the same way for others. Unable to express his
feelings or talk about the experiences from war, Paul becomes ready to die, He had fallen forward and
lay on the earth as though sleeping. Turning him over one saw that he could not have suffered long;
his face had an expression of calm, as though almost glad the end had come (Remarque, 296).

Anti-Terrorism Policy In Canada
Anti terrorism policy has become a more important legislative issue since the September 11th incident
in 2001. Prior to this event, North American countries felt the need to implement new policy that
would protect their citizens from criminal activity associated with acts of terror. In Canada, anti
terrorism policy consists of three main components identified in the literature: 1) The criminal code
and relevant violations; 2) Anti Terror Legislation; and 3) policy in practice. In this briefing note, all
three will be analyzed based on whether or not the current policy is sufficiently protecting Canadians
while ensuring that civil liberties are not being violated.

In 2010, Khadr plead guilty to the charges that had been laid against him. In his plea bargain, there
was a possibility that he could return to Canada instead of spending the remainder of his sentence in

terror committed in Afghanistan. However, According to Augustine (2014), the Khadr case was unique
from any other involving terrorism for the three following reasons: First, Khadr was a child soldier
when he committed the crimes and that he should not be held fully accountable for his actions;
Second, Khadr s entire direct family was sensationalized based on the fact that they were an Al Qaeda

repatriation from Guantanamo Bay. Canadian Government should not have taken so long to repatriate

mitigating factors that would have led him to take such action. When dealing with children,

Descartes Was A Philosopher That Did Not Take Any Truth
Descartes was a philosopher that did not take any truth without questioning it. This is key in truly
understanding the world around us. A real seeker of truth must doubt everything once in their lifetime.
Without doubt, we have no reason. Without reason, we cannot hold any truths to be correct. Descartes
truly understood how the rudiments vested in us by an infinite power play a powerful role in the way
we live today.
1. What is your initial point of view?
My initial point of view is that in order to seek the truth, we must doubt. In doubting, we critically
analyze the reason behind our thought process. What exactly makes a piece of wax that piece of wax?
Is it even wax? We must doubt even the simplest of truths in order to reach a higher state of knowing.
2. How can you define your point of view more clearly?
I can define my point of view more clearly by defining truth and doubt. Truth can be defined as an
idea that holds certainty and be able to question and analyze. Doubt can be defined as uncertainty with
a questionable premise.
3. What is an example of your point of view?
An example of my point of view is in Descartes most noted wax example. We take into consideration
a piece of wax, which has a color, shape, size, and will emit a sound. Once we burn the wax,
everything changes. We don t question that it is the same wax, though. But why? How do we know
that it is the same wax? Descartes did exactly this, and concluded that what he saw he grasped solely

Biography Of Samuel F. B. Morse
In 1836, Samuel F. B. Morse created Morse Code, a method of transmitting text information as a
series of on off tones, lights, or clicks that can be directly understood by a skilled listener without
special equipment. Born in 1791, Samuel Morse was a famous American inventor and painter. He
graduated from Yale in 1810 and studied painting in England afterwards. Morse s painting style was
considered romantic and he flourished in the art field. Morse co founded the National Academy of
Design and was the school s first president. In 1815, Morse returned to America and set up a studio in
Boston; focusing on portraits, he painted pictures of Marquis de Lafayette and George Washington. In

The Role Of Churches During The Medieval Era
During the Medieval era, countless cathedrals and churches were built as religion became popular and
widespread around Europe. Back in the Medieval period, churches gained an absurd amount of money
in various ways, such as people would travel to church to observe relics and donate to be blessed or
healed, people would buy indulgences, and people would donate their land to church when they died.
Firstly, citizens back in the Medieval era would travel to churches to see the relic or relics there or to
be blessed and healed. Numerous amounts of people would go to church to be blessed by the relics.
Consequently, Many churches were built around reliquaries to bring people in. Reliquaries hold a

The Sovereignty And Goodness Of God
As time passes, the expectations that society has on women has changed. Many of these expectations
had to be met for the woman to be complete with her role in society. In Rowlandson s time, her
expectations were to be a housewife, a mother, and a religious follower. Rowlandson s, The
sovereignty and Goodness of God demonstrates the role she had when she was in the colonies and
how that role changed as she became captive by the Natives. From her writings, one can infer her
place at home and how that changed as she became captive. It begins with her omission of the soldier
s failure to protect them from the Natives. While she writes about the horrendous death some soldiers
receive, she does not mention much about their courage to protect the colonist. This can only be
inferred as she begins her writing with the attack. Although, she does not say what she expected of the
soldiers, her whole family stayed inside their home expecting to be saved and for the attack to come to
an end. She as well as the other women within the household were to take care of the children and the
home. It is only when the fire over her head forces her to escape outside, only to get shot and taken
captive. This is demonstrated later on her writings in the fifth remove, English army after them to this
river, and saw the smoke of their wigwams, and yet this river puts a stop to them. God did not give
them courage or activity to go after us (294). Therefore, showing the incapability of the soldiers

William Edward Burghardt Dubois And The Harlem Renaissance
Labeled as a radical, William Edward Burghardt DuBois had a solid idea for African American
progression. Described variously as the most outspoken civil rights activist in America, and the
undisputed intellectual leader of a new generation of African Americans , Du Bois was considered the
inspiration for the literary movement known as the Harlem Renaissance (Reuben). Known as the
Talented Tenth , in his essay he mentions the Negro race, like all races, being saved by its exceptional
men. Du Bois believed that if a small group of black persons attained college educations they would
be leaders of the race and encourage the rest to do the same and reach a higher level of education. As a
co founder of the NAACP and the long time editor of its magazine The Crisis, Du Bois nurtured and
promoted many young and talented African Americans (Reuben). Underlying his controversial notion
of the talented tenth, was his belief that true integration will happen when selected blacks excel in the
literature and the fine arts. Du Bois stated, If this be true and who can deny it three tasks lay before
me, first to show from the past that the Talented Tenth as they have risen among American Negroes
have been worthy of leadership, secondly, to show how these men may be educated and developed,
and thirdly, to show their relation to the Negro problem (Chesnutt et al. 34). Contrary to Booker T.
Washington, Du Bois believed that if you wanted something accomplished you went right at it.

Analysis Of The Rape Of Dinah
Biblical scholars often debate on whether or not the rape of Dinah is a legitimate claim. In order for
one to form their own opinion, they should read the text of the story as it is written in the Bible. Then,
they should read various journals and commentaries to see what scholarly authors have to offer as
evidence for their personal opinions of the story. As the biblical text presents in Genesis 34, Dinah is
the daughter of Leah and Jacob. One day, Dinah set out to visit some of the women of the land. When
Shechem saw her, the son of Hamor, he fell in love with her at first sight and seized her and lay with
her by force (Genesis 24:2). In fact, he was so in love with her, he asked Hamor to get her for his wife.
Jacob quickly got word of the abuse that fell upon Dinah, and when his sons came in from the fields,
he relayed the information to them. Hamor went to Jacob to ask for Dinah s hand on behalf of
Shechem, and Jacob offered him a deal. If Hamor would have every man in his city circumcised, then
he would allow Shechem to marry Dinah. While Hamor agreed to Jacob s proposition, Jacob s sons,
Simon and Levi, devised a plan of their own. They were so infuriated with the abuse bestowed upon
Dinah that they decided to take advantage of Hamor s kingdom while they on their third day of
healing from their circumcisions. Simon and Levi murdered every male in the city, and the other sons
of Jacob followed by seizing anything and everything they could. After this news reached

How Divorce Has Changed Changing Society
Society is constantly changing. We are able to visualize these changes year after year by way of
statistics. This allows us to be able to use these values to qualitatively analyze correlation, causation,
and effect. One topic that has benefited from the use of statistics to measure its effects is divorce.
Divorce is defined as the legal process of dissolving a marriage, thus separating two individuals
(Merriam). From generation to generation, divorce has been on a steady increase. The annual rate of
divorce more than doubled between the mid 1960s and the early 1980s (Croteau). As of recent,
statistics show an increase in divorce rates from less than 20% to nearly 50% since 1960 (Croteau).
Throughout history, divorce has remained a controversial topic. Perceptions of divorce have
drastically changed essentially because the value of marriage has changed. Marriage was once seen as
a practical necessity and an irrevocable commitment. The view of marriage caused divorce to be
perceived as a stigma. Divorce in earlier generations was not granted by the court system unless there
were extenuating circumstances (Evolution). For example, if the woman in the marriage was unable to
conceive children the divorce would be granted to the man. This remained the standard practice until
the 1970 s with the introduction of no fault divorces (Croteau). No fault divorces were divorces
granted to a family based solely on the request of one of the partners (Croteau). This legal

Miller also notices younger teammates that will be able to take over once he s gone.

The Music Of John Cage
John Cage lived a very interesting, non traditional life that allowed him to form his outside of the box
philosophy on music that questions the very definition of music. After exploring many different
careers in the art world, he decided to compose music and through a winding, tumultuous road, he
rose to the top of the classical music world. His life greatly influenced his music. His study of
Buddhism and working with the choreographies of Merce Cunningham allowed Cage to discover the
other side of music, silence. Cage and his philosophies not only changed music for the better but also
changed the path that all types of art for the good; without Cage s philosophy on silence, musicians

Cage says that Schoenberg has had the biggest influence on his work. With Cage being very young, he
had trouble paying for the lessons from Schoenberg, so Schoenberg cut a deal with Cage. He would
tutor him for free as long as Cage promised to devote his life to music. This is why even forty years
later, Cage was still drafting compositions, he was so grateful for Schoenberg s generosity that he did
not want to break the promise. After studying under Schoenberg for 2 years, Cage met Xenia
Kashevaroff and married her. She was a dancer and they moved to Hollywood where Cage
choreographed music for his wife s dance routines. During this time, Cage began using irregular
instruments. After teaching at UCLA and other colleges, Cage left to go to Seattle, Washington, and

In the 1940s, Cage and Xenia moved to New York and stayed with good friends, but after a falling out,
Cage was left homeless without any money, even after he just had his most successful concert yet.

By spreading expenses over the whole year there is a more equal cash outflow each month rather than
one huge outflow during one month. An example of this is the offer from insurance companies to be
able to pay insurance premiums monthly instead of annually because of the excessively high costs.
Another strategy commonly used is Discounts for the early payments , This is where a business may
offer discounts to account customers for the early payment of their accounts to speed up cash inflow.
This discount may be a little as 2 5%, but shows effective in terms of cash inflow as it gives incentive
for the customers, Giving both the customer and business a gain in the financial situation. Other
incentives for early payment could include small gifts and discounts on future orders that the
customers may have. The business then may shorten the credit terms it allows for account customers.
Thus Reducing the number of days that a customer can take to pay its invoice, this will speed up cash
inflow into the business as it recieves cash from its sales much sooner. Factoring, a short term source

The West Fertilizer Plant Explosion
There are disasters occurring all around the world that most individuals will not hear of due to a lack
of media coverage. Many of these disasters can have incredibly detrimental effects on entire
populations, and those at risk deserve a chance to educate themselves. Two of the disasters found were
the West Fertilizer plant explosion and the increasing rate of acidification of ocean water. Despite the
fact that these disasters pose such incredible dangers, they were found to be among the least reported
on stories amongst media outlets. Although these disasters have not been covered nearly as much as
other major catastrophes, such as hurricane Katrina, they still have far reaching physical and
emotional consequences and have their own unique story. The West Fertilizer company located in
West, Texas was in the business of chemical manufacturing and distribution. The night of April 17,
2013, an explosion occurred as authorities were attempting to extinguish a fire that had broken out
earlier that day. The primary explosive agent was found to be ammonium nitrate, a chemical used as

A Comparison Of Elia Kazan And Arthur Miller
Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller had been good friends for quite a long time. Miller and Kazan could
have made some of the best films and plays in the world, but they let things come between them. They
worked on films and plays together. They had a professional and personal relationship, however The
Red Scare destroyed that. The threat of communism also broke them apart. Arthur Miller was a
playwright who wrote plays such as The Crucible and Death of a Salesman . Miller was a kind man
and wanted to keep his reputation to a high standard. He believed that theater would change the world.
His works were based off of his life, friends, and family. The way he portrayed himself made people
believe that he was a hero. Elia Kazan was Miller s director on Broadway when Death of a Salesman
came out in 1947. The play was about a New York family s life in reality and what they wanted it to
be. Elia Kazan was a theater director where he worked with Miller. He is considered one of the

The Use Of Pesticides And Growth Hormone
Sara Richards Professor Phil 305 Intro: With the world s population continuing to increase, the
demand for food is higher than ever. A growing population means more demand on food. The world
population will rise to 9.3 billion in 2050 and surpass 10 billion by the end of this century. (Sanyal)
This should say something about our growing population that is still continuing to grow to this day.
This increase in food demand also calls for more efficient ways of growing and providing food
without causing any damage to our environment or our health. Two methods that can be effective for
this demand are the organic and conventional method. Decision: Its unethical for conventional farmers

Kennedy also had a clear health plan known as Medicare. President Kennedy introduced the
Medicare plan on television to the public in 1962. Regrettably, the Medicare plan was rejected by the
Senate. In 1965, the Medicaid program was passed. Although Medicaid was created in
1965, it was not available in every state until 1982 (Medicaid.gov, n.d.).
The State Children s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) is a policy that was created and settled
because there were clearly problems for families raising uninsured children who could not afford
insurance coverage. SCHIP is a program controlled by the United States Department of
Health and Human Services that delivers funds to states for health insurance to cover families with
children who cannot afford health coverage or were not eligible for Medicare. SCHIP was first defined
and began to develop through the formulation stage. It started to classify what resolution will propose
long lasting term benefits, by the people who have skills and knowledge to make effective decisions
and place them into action (Medicaid.gov, n.d.).

I chose this element because it s very expensive and I wanted to know what makes it so expensive.
Since its more expensive than Gold and I thought Gold was more expensive than any element. Also
because I want to know why people say an artist just went Platinum.
Platinum was discovered in 1735 by Julius Scaliger. The spanish term is Platina which means little

Differences Between Theatre And Movie
In today s busy world, people usually struggle to find time for fun and a way of relaxation but when it
happens, they often spend it on entertainment. One of those forms of entertainment is watching stage
or film productions. Theatre and film have lots of aspects in common and depend on each other,
however, they involve differences. People choose between theater and film based on factors and their
own preferences. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast between those two forms of art.
First of all, theater as well, as the film is the form of entertainment. Theater was one of the first forms
of arts that made people feel emotion: sadness, laughter, thoughtfulness while being entertained. By
watching actors perform on the stage the viewers live and feel every moment and emotion. The
amusement that comes with life performance is extremely inspiring and motivating. The point of
entertainment is to capture the attention of the audience and that s what ... Show more content on

One of which is the type of performance. Theater is known for performances that are unedited and
raw, therefore actors have to rehearse the script frequent numbers of times in order to avoid bloopers.
During play the most focus is on actors and acting, rather than visuals; the stage cannot be edited or
enhanced. In stage acting, actors have to deal with a lot of stress they have to be stage ready no matter
what. Actors have to have oratory skill as well since they have to perform in front of the crowd.
However, when it comes to creating movies actors are allowed to have bloopers, since it is possible to
edit it out. Actors do not have to rehearse the script as many as theater actors do. Actors of film are
performing in front of the camera, not the live audience. Filmmaking is focused a lot on the visually in
order to make it look more attention capturing. Movies are enhanced visually and can have special

Violence In Frantz Fanon s The Wretched Of The Earth
Frantz Fanon, in his book The Wretched of the Earth, seeks to define violence and its justification in
the context of colonialism. To understand Fanon s justification for violence, it is necessary to learn
how Fanon defines violence. Fanon s definitions of violence range from psychological to historical to
cultural, eventually leading the colonized to redirect this violence to the colonizer as a cleansing ritual.
In The Wretched of the Earth, The first type of violence that Fanon addresses is physical and bodily
harm. Fanon says that, Their first confrontation was colored by violence and their cohabitation or
rather the exploitation of the colonized by the colonizer continued at the point of the bayonet and
under cannon fire (Fannon 2). Immediately, the colonizer begins to imprison the indigenous people for
the colonist s benefit. He then defines ontological and epistemological violence. Ontological and
epistemological violence happens as the colonizer begins to steal the identity of the people they
control. This violence creates the bounds between the colonizer and the colonized. It traps the
indigenous people with slave identities, marking them as natives. Once this violence occurs,
colonizers begin to forget the greater reality of their actions. It becomes a Manichean paradigm. There
is no longer a gray area, just black and white, good and evil. Fanon even goes so far as writing that
Sometimes this Manichaeism reaches its logical conclusion and dehumanizes the

Hard Work Could Be Very Strenuous At Times Making You Want
Hard work could be very strenuous at times making you want to sit back, relax and take a breather. To
avoid a complete burnout, visit a Caribbean island or eat something that you really enjoy. Ride a roller
coaster or go cart riding. Do whatever is necessary to feel better. The key is to reward yourself with
positive things for a job well done, because you need and deserve it. Intently focusing for long periods
of time on certain tasks can become extremely frustrating so you need a release, which is why you
should reward yourself. On the flip side, it is also making you become stronger because you are
essentially developing a focus based stamina. Once you get to that point, the rewards will come in
quicker than a rushing river.

George Herbert Mead s Theory Of Symbolic Interactionism
According to George Herbert Mead, symbolic interactionism is a theory that rely on the reality of
human s daily actions which are interactions. It focuses on roles and behaviour as well as human s
interactions and actions. The idea that individuals use language and significant symbols in their
communication with others is the central to symbolic interactionist thought . Rather than addressing
how common social institutions define and impact individuals, symbolic interactionists shift their
attention to the interpretation of subjective viewpoints and how individuals make sense of their world
from their unique perspective. Symbolic interactionism basically means the ongoing use of language
and gestures in anticipation of how others will react which is equal to a conversation. ... Show more

Morris in 1934. His theory of the self maintains that the conception a person holds of themselves in
their mind emerges from social interaction with others. This is, in effect, a theory and argument
against biological determinism because it holds that the self is not at the start there at birth nor
necessarily at the beginning of a social interaction, but is constructed and re constructed in the process
of social experience and activity. This means individuals expand their self concept through
interactions with other people. Self concept gives a vital motive towards people behaviour. For
example, people will not repeat their mistakes once it pointed out by other people. Not only that, the
meanings also regulate our behaviour and actions so that people do not act hastily and recklessly. This

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Catalysts
A Catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of reaction by providing alternate routes for the
reaction to take place/lowering the activation energy which is the minimum energy required for a
reaction to happen. It does not undergo any change itself making it useful as it is recyclable and they
reduce manufacturing costs. The 2 types of catalysts are heterogeneous catalysts and homogenous
catalysts. Another substance, called the Inhibitor, does the opposite of a catalyst by reducing the rate
of a reaction.

The catalyst, acts as a reduction and oxidation catalyst. Catalysts are used as they increase the surface
area for the reaction to occur. Reduction is usually the first stage where Platinum breaks apart the
bonds of the Nitrogen Oxide by making stronger ionic bonds with the Nitrogen than the Covalent
bonds present between the Nitrogen and Oxygen. Therefore, the Nitrogen molecules form a strong
bond with the platinum and the Oxygen forms a strong diatomic bond which ensures that it won t re
bond with nitrogen as its valence shell is complete. After a while, the Nitrogen atoms will similarly
form a diatomic bond, N2. The second stage is the oxidation catalyzing where Carbon Monoxide and
other Hydrocarbons are converted into less harmful substances. This relies solely on the purity of the
air. The hydrocarbons and Carbon Monoxide are burned in the environment so that they have a chance
of mixing with the oxygen in the environment to form Carbon Dioxide and Water Vapor. This is not
very efficient as the temperatures required for the catalyst and oxygen to activate and form bonds with
the Hydrocarbons are around 200 500℃. Sometimes, unwanted particles like Sulfur mix with the
catalyst lowering the efficiency of

The King Of The Israelites
he conquest of the Israelites spread like a lightning bolt. All the countries that lived within the
boundaries of the Promised Land were in utter fear for their lives. Kings who had strong fortified
cities within massive stone walls trembled as the stories flooded in telling them how easily Israel
fought and defeated everyone in their path.
Kings everywhere came together in a united effort to stop God s people from entering into their
country. Instead their defiance of God s will was met with utter devastation. No one could stand up to
the power behind the Israelite army.
Israel held tightly to the Laws of Moses doing everything commanded. Because of each man s
faithfulness a supernatural ability took over each fighting soldier giving them the ability to stand and
defeat a thousand men.
Leviticus 26:7 8, You will be victorious over your enemies; five of you will be able to defeat a
hundred, and a hundred will be able to defeat ten thousand.
Every promise in the Law was fulfilled because the Israelites made a conscious effort to remember the
Laws and apply them to their lives. Their faithfulness to God s words empowered the Spiritual forces
of the unseen heavenly kingdom and the Spirits of God ran to protect every soldier from harm while
enabling them to defeat every person who tried to come up against them.

Theme Of Revenge In Frankenstein
The Revenge of a Medieval Monster The reason for a decision made by The Monster or Victor
Frankenstein s creation, created one of the many themes revenge . Revenge is an interesting theme
that occurs in the book Frankenstein. There are many events that occur in the story that support this
theme. Revenge forms a very destructive feeling within the monster. The theme of revenge first
appears when the monster was mistreated by his creator, Victor Frankenstein. The monster then was
abandoned by the De Lacey family. The monster then decided to turn to revenge. The monster actions
are understandable because it has been abandoned and mistreated by humanity. Revenge truly effected
the monster in this novel. Revenge turned the monster into a real monster that had no feelings and
made him want to destroy his creator. The monster wanted revenge on Victor because he abandoned
and mistreated him. Also, Victor wasn t a good father figure, he didn t teach or care for his creation.
Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live? Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence
which you had so wantonly bestowed? I know not; despair had not yet taken possession of me; my
feeling were those of rage and revenge. I could with my pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its
inhabitants and have glutted myself with their shrieks and misery (161). The monster was furious and
mad at Victor from how he was treated. He asked Victor why he had lived and asked himself why he

High Altitude Is Defined As An Elevation Of 1500-3500 Metres
With regards to elevation, high altitude is defined as an elevation of 1,500 3,500 meters (4,900 11,500
ft.) but can differ by a 1,000 ft., depending on the defining source. The definition of elevation
continues with very high altitude, which is 3,500 5,500 meters (11,500 18,000 ft.) then continues to
extreme altitude of which is above 5,500 meters (18,000 ft.). Within healthy individuals, substantial
clinical changes are difficult to exhibit at elevations lower than 1,500 meters. But once the human
body reaches altitudes at or above high altitude, the adverse effects on the human body become
increasing pronounced and considerable. As altitude increases, the barometric pressure falls and the
environmental partial pressure of inspired oxygen decreases. The reduction of inspired oxygen, in
combination with other environmental factors such as a decline in temperature, humidity, paired with
physical activity, the human body must be able to compensate for the adverse effects opposed
primarily on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
Physical alterations within the cardiopulmonary system begin to be substantial over an altitude of
2500 meters. However, the human body can use both short term and long term means to adapt to high
altitude, and even beyond that will allow the body to partially compensate or even fully compensate
for the lack of oxygen. But, there is also a limit to the level of adaptation and compensation that can
take place. Once an altitude of or above 8,000

Buddhism Is A Religion And Philosophy Essay
Buddhism is a religion and philosophy based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama. It is the oldest
and fourth largest religion in the world with around 500 million followers. Buddhism focuses on
teaching people how to come to terms with and end the suffering of themselves and others by cutting
out greed, hatred, and ignorance from their lives. Unlike most major world religions, Buddhism does
not revolve around worshiping a god or divine creator, instead the focus of Buddhism is living one s
best life and transforming the lives of others. The ultimate goal of Buddhism is to reach
Enlightenment and upon death achieve Nirvana, the liberation of pain and suffering. For Buddhists, it
is the individual s responsibility to find his or her own path to enlightenment; the principles of
Buddhism are seen more as guidelines than rules.
Siddhartha Gautama was born between 563 and 480 BCE as the prince of Lumbini (in what is now
Nepal). His mother died in either in childbirth or shortly thereafter and and his father was left to raise
him. During his birth celebrations, it was predicted that Siddhartha would either become a great king
or a great spiritual leader. His father wanted him to take over the throne, so he avoided religious
teachings and sheltered him from suffering. Siddhartha, unsatisfied with with the life he was leading
and yearning to learn about the world, he left his home at twenty nine to seek the true meaning of life.
On his travels he saw an old man, a diseased man,

Benefits Of Spending On Eating Out
On the first assignment, I listed one of the advantages in changing my spending when it comes to
eating out was that it would save me money that could be better spent on something more valuable.
This is overall the most important benefit for me currently because money is especially tight during
this Fall Semester, the holidays are here and this this usually includes spending on food and gifts. Also
with the new season I enjoy spending some money on things that will last longer than 30 minutes,
typically food is only a short term splurge. The overall goal is to save money, and I found that I have
saved a lot more money by becoming more aware of how much money I ve actually put into eating

I have found this to be true because now that I am choosing to eat at home I see my mom a lot more.
We will sit together for a meal every other day (like I said, im very busy so I m not home very often.) I
also indicated that my temptations towards sweets and beverages would be reduced because im not in
its presence. This proved to be true because if I don t see the temptations I don t fall to it. I have tried
to avoid putting myself in situations where going out to eat becomes an option and therefore I don t
have the need to buy something because the occasion or because im already in that setting. Last, I said
the novelty of eating out will be special again. The absence of the eating out environment will make it
feel more significant event. To elaborate, you know when you have something so often that after a
while it might not mean as much to you as it did the first few times. Like seeing your favorite play the
first few times, but maybe after the 87th time you aren t as excited about it. This is the exact feeling
im talking about, eating out, getting treats so much with my boyfriend that it isnt a special event for us
anymore. Now that we don t do this as frequently its become something to really look forward to
because its not everyday.
Now to add to my advantages, I would say that by reducing my spending on food I would gain better
money managing skills. I would have a better understanding of determining needs versus wants.

Mattel investigated the toy crisis thoroughly. The outcome to the problem had Mattel dismiss several
of their subcontractors in the global economy. The next step was to ensure that all toys manufactured
by those subcontractors, were removed from the shelves.
Prior to facing any these problems, Mattel implemented their Global Manufacturing Principles
(GMP). This applied to all businesses that produced or distributed their products. The GMP s provided
structure for both subcontractors and contractors to abide by. This also helped to maintain safety for
employees as well as the consumers.
Mattel should revise their GMP s to be more up to update and implement them in their global
economy, since much of their business is oversees. There should be regular inspections to make sure
that their products are lead free. Equipment and products should be tested and examined to ensure that
there are limited issues that could arise, which could lead to harmful safety issues for the consumer.
Even though running a business may be stressful, it is important that companies make sure that the
safety of their consumers is part of their mission, even when expanded globally. A business must make
sure that their standards and principle are ones that their global contractors and subcontractors adhere
to when manufacturing products for the company.

Health Care Services And Rural Communities
Section 1
Assessing Healthcare services is an important factor for individuals in rural areas in order to decrease
physical and emotional stress. In many rural areas, there are barriers that one may face such as, lack of
transportation, shortage of physicians in the area and lack of health care services. With these barriers,
rural communities face more sickness and deaths. In this paper, the author will discuss factors that
sustain health care services in rural communities and how to make it better with a proposed solution
that may assist with this issue.
Factors that contribute to sustaining the issue, what factors may ameliorate the issue.
When one looks at the barriers that rural communities face with the issue of health care services, there
are a few to discuss. First, lack of transportation is one barrier to look at. In rural areas, there are
residents that may not have a car, have funds to put gas in the car, or due to distance in a rural
community, have the means to travel that far due to their health condition. In a qualitative study done
on barriers that patients with chronic disease face in rural areas, between the years of 2002 to 2012,
geographical distance was one of the main barriers that the patients faced. This issue caused many
patients to not seek healthcare increasing their vulnerability to possibly decrease their health,
according to (Brundisini, Giacomini, DeJean, et al. 2013).
The next barrier that the author found was the shortage of physicians in

Differences And Characteristics Of Inductive Reasoning
Characteristics of Inductive Reasoning
Inductive reasoning is not designed to produce mathematical certainty. Induction occurs when we
gather bits of specific information together and use our own knowledge and experience in order to
make an observation about what must be true. Inductive reasoning does not use syllogisms, but series
of observations, in order to reach a conclusion. Consider the following chains of observations:
Observation: John came to class late this morning.
Observation: John s hair was uncombed.
Prior experience: John is very fussy about his hair.
Conclusion: John overslept
The reasoning process here is directly opposite to that used in deductive syllogisms. Rather than
beginning with a general principle (People who comb their hair wake up on time), the chain of
evidence begins with an observation and then combines it with the strength of previous observations
in order to arrive at a conclusion.
The most basic kind of inductive reasoning is called generalization. You generalize whenever you
make a general statement (all salesmen are pushy) based on observations with specific members of
that group (the last three salesmen who came to my door were pushy). You also generalize when you
make an observation about a specific thing based on other specific things that belong to the same
group (my girlfriend s cousin Ed is a salesman, so he will probably be pushy.) When you use specific
observations as the basis of a general conclusion, you are said to be making an

Introduction of Antarctic Krill
1. Introduction of Antarctic Krill
Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) is one of the most abundant organisms in southern ocean, with a
total biomass of hundreds millions of tons. It is a cold water species and they mainly feed on marine
algae. Their lifespan is five to six years and they can grow up to six centimeters long. Atlantic krill
start life as eggs that sink and hatch in spring. They develop though Nauplius, Metanauplius,
Calyptopis stages and reach the fourth stage furcilia by winter. Antarctic krill that hatch at the depth of
shallow Antarctic shelf (300 400 meters) can swim back to the surface water before winter. Therefore,
furcilia are able to survive the first winter by feeding on algae and a small portion of zooplankton on
the undersurface of pack ice before using up their stored supplies. Antarctic krill that hatch in water
deeper than 500 meters may starve before they are able to swim back to the surface and find food to
feed on.
Antarctic krill play a crucial role within the southern ocean food web. They feed primarily on
phytoplankton, especially small diatoms. They also feed on a lesser extent zooplankton, such as
copepods, amphipods and other small zooplankton. Living near the bottom of food chains and
converting the phytoplankton and zooplankton to a form suitable for larger animals, including fish,
penguins, seals and wales, they have been considered as an important trophic level connection. Other
popular organisms are not preferred food source

identity. One sibling might posses more intellectual, and athletic traits than the other, while the other
one is complete opposite. But having this unique set of traits is what makes us as an individuals. It s
what distinguishes between you and the world. If everyone would have had the same identity then we
would not have evolved. We would have not discovered all these scientific achievements throughout
history. There wouldn t be all stars or hall of fame sports athletes in history. Having different qualities
as an individual is what sets you apart and makes up the person you are today. Of course, you might
ask yourself, why do I hold these specific set of traits or why do I act this way? These questions have
even been asked as early during adolescent years. During

Life Is Fine By Langston Hughes
I think the poem Life is Fine is a lyric poem. The poem Life is Fine is about someone who went down
to a river to think. But he can t think so he jumps in the river. And he starts to sink. Then he takes the
elevator up 16 floors and thinks about his baby. So he thinks about jumping. But he will be dogged if
they see him if they see him die. So in this poem I think he is telling us that everybody has problems
including Hughes. But in this poem he shows us that we should still push through and get through it.
In this poem Langston Hughes uses symbolism and imagery. Langston Hughes uses symbolism in this
quote I went down to the river, I set down on the bank. I tried to think but couldn t, So I jumped in and
sank. . I feel that he might be saying that the river is life. And he might feel that he Langston Hughes
is sinking in life. By putting symbolism in his poem it disguises what he really means or says what he
feels like it looks like. I think Langston Hughes uses imagery in the quote But it was...cold in that
water! It was cold! . I feel lik he uses imagery in that quote because he puts the image in our minds of
cold water or someone touching the water and the water is cold. By him using imagery it makes us ...

I think that this quote So since I m still here livin I guess I will live on I could ve died for love But for
livin I was born. Shows it very well. By saying that (The way you look at it.) is like he has had
struggles before. I was writing a poem and I disguised some of my struggles. And as I went forward I
looked back and realized I made it through most of my struggles. In the past I have been dogged /
done wrong. But I ve always got through it. And cam back with better. Hughes might be disguising his
struggles because he doesn t want anyone to know them or are ashamed of them. By showing that
Hughes has struggles related me and maybe many more people to

Identification of problem, causes and negative effects Strategic problem definition: Acquisition of IBM PC division as part of the expansion strategy. Causes: Lenovo was number 9 on PC market and had 2.2% market share worldwide and therefore it wanted to increase its market share position. Lenovo became a market leader in China with 27% market share and wanted to expand. They first tried to diversify into non PC areas but they failed and consequently they decided to concentrate only on PC products. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... o acquiring LG Laptops (option 3.4.) would lead to a small increase, as LG is not one of the big laptop producers. o expanding in the non PC area via smartphones (option 3.5.) would not do anything for the current market share, as we would be talking about a different market segment altogether. It provides quick and extensive access to a large distribution network of retail and corporate customers, lowering distribution costs (the same goes for option 3.3., which also brings Lenovo contact with IBM s network) o option 3.2. keeps Lenovo isolated in the home market o option 3.4. would bring with it a small distribution network, proportionate to the small size of the LG laptop division. o option 3.5. might mean a possibly large network, but, as it is in another production sector, so it could not be easily coupled with Lenovo s existing one. It provides the possibility of brand capitalization, in the sense that Lenovo would take advantage of the reputation and customer base of IBM and incorporate them through the acquisition, lowering marketing costs o in the case of a merger, the brand name would be probably shared for the whole duration of the partnership. o under options 3.4. and 3.5., as said before, LG is not a brand name in IT or in smartphones, so Lenovo could not use this to attract more ... The theories underpinning the CMOP E largely include humanistic theories, with a particular focus on client centred therapy developed from Carl Rogers (Townsend Polatajko, 2007). As the name infers, the main focus of the CMOP is on occupational performance and exploring the interplay between the person, environment and occupation. While CMOP E maintains this view, it also encompasses engagement; and just like performance, engagement is also a result of the interdependent relationship between the person, environment and occupation. Prior to this event, North American countries felt the need to implement new policy that would protect their citizens from criminal activity associated with acts of terror. In Canada, anti terrorism policy consists of three main components identified in the literature: 1) The criminal code and relevant violations; 2) Anti Terror Legislation; and 3) policy in practice. In his plea bargain, there was a possibility that he could return to Canada instead of spending the remainder of his sentence in Guantanamo Bay Prison. However, According to Augustine (2014), the Khadr case was unique from any other involving terrorism for the three following reasons: First, Khadr was a child soldier when he committed the crimes and that he should not be held fully accountable for his actions; Second, Khadr s entire direct family was sensationalized based on the fact that they were an Al Qaeda family . Third, Khadr was the only western national whose government did not intervene to ensure his repatriation from Guantanamo Bay. Canadian Government should not have taken so long to repatriate Khadr based on the fact that he was a child soldier at the time. • 7. Descartes Was A Philosopher That Did Not Take Any Truth Descartes was a philosopher that did not take any truth without questioning it. This is key in truly understanding the world around us. A real seeker of truth must doubt everything once in their lifetime. Without doubt, we have no reason. Without reason, we cannot hold any truths to be correct. Descartes truly understood how the rudiments vested in us by an infinite power play a powerful role in the way we live today. 1. What is your initial point of view? My initial point of view is that in order to seek the truth, we must doubt. In doubting, we critically analyze the reason behind our thought process. What exactly makes a piece of wax that piece of wax? Is it even wax? We must doubt even the simplest of truths in order to reach a higher state of knowing. 2. How can you define your point of view more clearly? I can define my point of view more clearly by defining truth and doubt. Truth can be defined as an idea that holds certainty and be able to question and analyze. Doubt can be defined as uncertainty with a questionable premise. 3. What is an example of your point of view? An example of my point of view is in Descartes most noted wax example. We take into consideration a piece of wax, which has a color, shape, size, and will emit a sound. Once we burn the wax, everything changes. We don t question that it is the same wax, though. But why? How do we know that it is the same wax? Descartes did exactly this, and concluded that what he saw he grasped solely with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Sovereignty And Goodness Of God As time passes, the expectations that society has on women has changed. Many of these expectations had to be met for the woman to be complete with her role in society. In Rowlandson s time, her expectations were to be a housewife, a mother, and a religious follower. Rowlandson s, The sovereignty and Goodness of God demonstrates the role she had when she was in the colonies and how that role changed as she became captive by the Natives. From her writings, one can infer her place at home and how that changed as she became captive. It begins with her omission of the soldier s failure to protect them from the Natives. While she writes about the horrendous death some soldiers receive, she does not mention much about their courage to protect the colonist. This can only be inferred as she begins her writing with the attack. Although, she does not say what she expected of the soldiers, her whole family stayed inside their home expecting to be saved and for the attack to come to an end. She as well as the other women within the household were to take care of the children and the home. It is only when the fire over her head forces her to escape outside, only to get shot and taken captive. This is demonstrated later on her writings in the fifth remove, English army after them to this river, and saw the smoke of their wigwams, and yet this river puts a stop to them. God did not give them courage or activity to go after us (294). Therefore, showing the incapability of the soldiers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. William Edward Burghardt Dubois And The Harlem Renaissance Labeled as a radical, William Edward Burghardt DuBois had a solid idea for African American progression. Described variously as the most outspoken civil rights activist in America, and the undisputed intellectual leader of a new generation of African Americans , Du Bois was considered the inspiration for the literary movement known as the Harlem Renaissance (Reuben). Known as the Talented Tenth , in his essay he mentions the Negro race, like all races, being saved by its exceptional men. Du Bois believed that if a small group of black persons attained college educations they would be leaders of the race and encourage the rest to do the same and reach a higher level of education. As a co founder of the NAACP and the long time editor of its magazine The Crisis, Du Bois nurtured and promoted many young and talented African Americans (Reuben). Underlying his controversial notion of the talented tenth, was his belief that true integration will happen when selected blacks excel in the literature and the fine arts. Du Bois stated, If this be true and who can deny it three tasks lay before me, first to show from the past that the Talented Tenth as they have risen among American Negroes have been worthy of leadership, secondly, to show how these men may be educated and developed, and thirdly, to show their relation to the Negro problem (Chesnutt et al. 34). In order for one to form their own opinion, they should read the text of the story as it is written in the Bible. Then, they should read various journals and commentaries to see what scholarly authors have to offer as evidence for their personal opinions of the story. As the biblical text presents in Genesis 34, Dinah is the daughter of Leah and Jacob. One day, Dinah set out to visit some of the women of the land. When Shechem saw her, the son of Hamor, he fell in love with her at first sight and seized her and lay with her by force (Genesis 24:2). In fact, he was so in love with her, he asked Hamor to get her for his wife. Jacob quickly got word of the abuse that fell upon Dinah, and when his sons came in from the fields, he relayed the information to them. Hamor went to Jacob to ask for Dinah s hand on behalf of Shechem, and Jacob offered him a deal. If Hamor would have every man in his city circumcised, then he would allow Shechem to marry Dinah. While Hamor agreed to Jacob s proposition, Jacob s sons, Simon and Levi, devised a plan of their own. They were so infuriated with the abuse bestowed upon Dinah that they decided to take advantage of Hamor s kingdom while they on their third day of healing from their circumcisions. Simon and Levi murdered every male in the city, and the other sons of Jacob followed by seizing anything and everything they could. After this news reached ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. How Divorce Has Changed Changing Society Society is constantly changing. We are able to visualize these changes year after year by way of statistics. This allows us to be able to use these values to qualitatively analyze correlation, causation, and effect. One topic that has benefited from the use of statistics to measure its effects is divorce. Divorce is defined as the legal process of dissolving a marriage, thus separating two individuals (Merriam). From generation to generation, divorce has been on a steady increase. The annual rate of divorce more than doubled between the mid 1960s and the early 1980s (Croteau). As of recent, statistics show an increase in divorce rates from less than 20% to nearly 50% since 1960 (Croteau). Throughout history, divorce has remained a controversial topic. Perceptions of divorce have drastically changed essentially because the value of marriage has changed. Marriage was once seen as a practical necessity and an irrevocable commitment. The view of marriage caused divorce to be perceived as a stigma. Divorce in earlier generations was not granted by the court system unless there were extenuating circumstances (Evolution). For example, if the woman in the marriage was unable to conceive children the divorce would be granted to the man. This remained the standard practice until the 1970 s with the introduction of no fault divorces (Croteau). No fault divorces were divorces granted to a family based solely on the request of one of the partners (Croteau). This legal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To understand Fanon s justification for violence, it is necessary to learn how Fanon defines violence. Fanon s definitions of violence range from psychological to historical to cultural, eventually leading the colonized to redirect this violence to the colonizer as a cleansing ritual. In The Wretched of the Earth, The first type of violence that Fanon addresses is physical and bodily harm. Fanon says that, Their first confrontation was colored by violence and their cohabitation or rather the exploitation of the colonized by the colonizer continued at the point of the bayonet and under cannon fire (Fannon 2). Immediately, the colonizer begins to imprison the indigenous people for the colonist s benefit. He then defines ontological and epistemological violence. Ontological and epistemological violence happens as the colonizer begins to steal the identity of the people they control. This violence creates the bounds between the colonizer and the colonized. It traps the indigenous people with slave identities, marking them as natives. Once this violence occurs, colonizers begin to forget the greater reality of their actions. It becomes a Manichean paradigm. There is no longer a gray area, just black and white, good and evil. The definition of elevation continues with very high altitude, which is 3,500 5,500 meters (11,500 18,000 ft.) then continues to extreme altitude of which is above 5,500 meters (18,000 ft.). Within healthy individuals, substantial clinical changes are difficult to exhibit at elevations lower than 1,500 meters. But once the human body reaches altitudes at or above high altitude, the adverse effects on the human body become increasing pronounced and considerable. As altitude increases, the barometric pressure falls and the environmental partial pressure of inspired oxygen decreases. The reduction of inspired oxygen, in combination with other environmental factors such as a decline in temperature, humidity, paired with physical activity, the human body must be able to compensate for the adverse effects opposed primarily on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Physical alterations within the cardiopulmonary system begin to be substantial over an altitude of 2500 meters. However, the human body can use both short term and long term means to adapt to high altitude, and even beyond that will allow the body to partially compensate or even fully compensate for the lack of oxygen. But, there is also a limit to the level of adaptation and compensation that can take place. Once an altitude of or above 8,000 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Buddhism Is A Religion And Philosophy Essay Buddhism is a religion and philosophy based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama. It is the oldest and fourth largest religion in the world with around 500 million followers. Buddhism focuses on teaching people how to come to terms with and end the suffering of themselves and others by cutting out greed, hatred, and ignorance from their lives. Unlike most major world religions, Buddhism does not revolve around worshiping a god or divine creator, instead the focus of Buddhism is living one s best life and transforming the lives of others. The ultimate goal of Buddhism is to reach Enlightenment and upon death achieve Nirvana, the liberation of pain and suffering. For Buddhists, it is the individual s responsibility to find his or her own path to enlightenment; the principles of Buddhism are seen more as guidelines than rules. Siddhartha Gautama was born between 563 and 480 BCE as the prince of Lumbini (in what is now Nepal). His mother died in either in childbirth or shortly thereafter and and his father was left to raise him. During his birth celebrations, it was predicted that Siddhartha would either become a great king or a great spiritual leader. His father wanted him to take over the throne, so he avoided religious teachings and sheltered him from suffering. Siddhartha, unsatisfied with with the life he was leading and yearning to learn about the world, he left his home at twenty nine to seek the true meaning of life. On his travels he saw an old man, a diseased man, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Benefits Of Spending On Eating Out On the first assignment, I listed one of the advantages in changing my spending when it comes to eating out was that it would save me money that could be better spent on something more valuable. This is overall the most important benefit for me currently because money is especially tight during this Fall Semester, the holidays are here and this this usually includes spending on food and gifts. Also with the new season I enjoy spending some money on things that will last longer than 30 minutes, typically food is only a short term splurge. The overall goal is to save money, and I found that I have saved a lot more money by becoming more aware of how much money I ve actually put into eating out. I use that saved money towards bills, which are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have found this to be true because now that I am choosing to eat at home I see my mom a lot more. We will sit together for a meal every other day (like I said, im very busy so I m not home very often.) I also indicated that my temptations towards sweets and beverages would be reduced because im not in its presence. This proved to be true because if I don t see the temptations I don t fall to it. I have tried to avoid putting myself in situations where going out to eat becomes an option and therefore I don t have the need to buy something because the occasion or because im already in that setting. Last, I said the novelty of eating out will be special again. The absence of the eating out environment will make it feel more significant event. To elaborate, you know when you have something so often that after a while it might not mean as much to you as it did the first few times. Like seeing your favorite play the first few times, but maybe after the 87th time you aren t as excited about it. This is the exact feeling im talking about, eating out, getting treats so much with my boyfriend that it isnt a special event for us anymore. Now that we don t do this as frequently its become something to really look forward to because its not everyday. Now to add to my advantages, I would say that by reducing my spending on food I would gain better money managing skills. I would have a better understanding of determining needs versus wants. ... The outcome to the problem had Mattel dismiss several of their subcontractors in the global economy. The next step was to ensure that all toys manufactured by those subcontractors, were removed from the shelves. Prior to facing any these problems, Mattel implemented their Global Manufacturing Principles (GMP). This applied to all businesses that produced or distributed their products. The GMP s provided structure for both subcontractors and contractors to abide by. This also helped to maintain safety for employees as well as the consumers. Mattel should revise their GMP s to be more up to update and implement them in their global economy, since much of their business is oversees. There should be regular inspections to make sure that their products are lead free. Equipment and products should be tested and examined to ensure that there are limited issues that could arise, which could lead to harmful safety issues for the consumer. Even though running a business may be stressful, it is important that companies make sure that the safety of their consumers is part of their mission, even when expanded globally. A business must make sure that their standards and principle are ones that their global contractors and subcontractors adhere to when manufacturing products for the company. • 39. Health Care Services And Rural Communities Section 1 Assessing Healthcare services is an important factor for individuals in rural areas in order to decrease physical and emotional stress. In many rural areas, there are barriers that one may face such as, lack of transportation, shortage of physicians in the area and lack of health care services. With these barriers, rural communities face more sickness and deaths. In this paper, the author will discuss factors that sustain health care services in rural communities and how to make it better with a proposed solution that may assist with this issue. Factors that contribute to sustaining the issue, what factors may ameliorate the issue. When one looks at the barriers that rural communities face with the issue of health care services, there are a few to discuss. First, lack of transportation is one barrier to look at. In rural areas, there are residents that may not have a car, have funds to put gas in the car, or due to distance in a rural community, have the means to travel that far due to their health condition. In a qualitative study done on barriers that patients with chronic disease face in rural areas, between the years of 2002 to 2012, geographical distance was one of the main barriers that the patients faced. This issue caused many patients to not seek healthcare increasing their vulnerability to possibly decrease their health, according to (Brundisini, Giacomini, DeJean, et al. 2013). • 40. Differences And Characteristics Of Inductive Reasoning Characteristics of Inductive Reasoning Inductive reasoning is not designed to produce mathematical certainty. Induction occurs when we gather bits of specific information together and use our own knowledge and experience in order to make an observation about what must be true. Inductive reasoning does not use syllogisms, but series of observations, in order to reach a conclusion. Consider the following chains of observations: Observation: John came to class late this morning. Observation: John s hair was uncombed. Prior experience: John is very fussy about his hair. Conclusion: John overslept The reasoning process here is directly opposite to that used in deductive syllogisms. Rather than beginning with a general principle (People who comb their hair wake up on time), the chain of evidence begins with an observation and then combines it with the strength of previous observations in order to arrive at a conclusion. The most basic kind of inductive reasoning is called generalization. You generalize whenever you make a general statement (all salesmen are pushy) based on observations with specific members of that group (the last three salesmen who came to my door were pushy). You also generalize when you make an observation about a specific thing based on other specific things that belong to the same group (my girlfriend s cousin Ed is a salesman, so he will probably be pushy.) When you use specific observations as the basis of a general conclusion, you are said to be making an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Introduction of Antarctic Krill 1. Introduction of Antarctic Krill Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba) is one of the most abundant organisms in southern ocean, with a total biomass of hundreds millions of tons. It is a cold water species and they mainly feed on marine algae. Their lifespan is five to six years and they can grow up to six centimeters long. Atlantic krill start life as eggs that sink and hatch in spring. They develop though Nauplius, Metanauplius, Calyptopis stages and reach the fourth stage furcilia by winter. Antarctic krill that hatch at the depth of shallow Antarctic shelf (300 400 meters) can swim back to the surface water before winter. Therefore, furcilia are able to survive the first winter by feeding on algae and a small portion of zooplankton on the undersurface of pack ice before using up their stored supplies. Antarctic krill that hatch in water deeper than 500 meters may starve before they are able to swim back to the surface and find food to feed on. Antarctic krill play a crucial role within the southern ocean food web. They feed primarily on phytoplankton, especially small diatoms. They also feed on a lesser extent zooplankton, such as copepods, amphipods and other small zooplankton. Living near the bottom of food chains and converting the phytoplankton and zooplankton to a form suitable for larger animals, including fish, penguins, seals and wales, they have been considered as an important trophic level connection. Other popular organisms are not preferred food source ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. A Study Of Life Span Development Have you ever asked yourself, who am I? What makes me the individual that I am today? Well, you are not alone. Many individuals have been trying to figure out why they have certain characteristics or why they did not have those leadership or charismatic traits that they wish they could have. All these questions can be explored through the study of life span development. Within this science, we can explore the factors that influence who you are with identity development, gender, stereotypes, ethnicity and culture. Identity is what makes the individual. The uniqueness, such as specific traits ranging from religious to intelligence. Despite having the same parents, even siblings have different identity. One sibling might posses more intellectual, and athletic traits than the other, while the other one is complete opposite. But having this unique set of traits is what makes us as an individuals. It s what distinguishes between you and the world. If everyone would have had the same identity then we would not have evolved. We would have not discovered all these scientific achievements throughout history. There wouldn t be all stars or hall of fame sports athletes in history. Having different qualities as an individual is what sets you apart and makes up the person you are today. Of course, you might ask yourself, why do I hold these specific set of traits or why do I act this way? These questions have even been asked as early during adolescent years. During ... • 44. Life Is Fine By Langston Hughes I think the poem Life is Fine is a lyric poem. The poem Life is Fine is about someone who went down to a river to think. But he can t think so he jumps in the river. And he starts to sink. Then he takes the elevator up 16 floors and thinks about his baby. So he thinks about jumping. But he will be dogged if they see him if they see him die. So in this poem I think he is telling us that everybody has problems including Hughes. But in this poem he shows us that we should still push through and get through it. In this poem Langston Hughes uses symbolism and imagery. Langston Hughes uses symbolism in this quote I went down to the river, I set down on the bank. I tried to think but couldn t, So I jumped in and sank. . I feel that he might be saying that the river is life. And he might feel that he Langston Hughes is sinking in life. By putting symbolism in his poem it disguises what he really means or says what he feels like it looks like. I think Langston Hughes uses imagery in the quote But it was...cold in that water!
