Fort Snelling State Park Research Paper
There is a huge and beautiful state park in the center of the Twin Cities in Minnesota as Northern
United States of America, which is called Fort Snelling State Park . The park is the place of
coexistence between nature and human resources. There are not only wildlife animals such as Turkeys,
white tailed deer, fox snake, and coyotes, but also there are a lot of human resources like biking trails,
fishing, camping, and lodging for visitors to stay with eco friendly and be in harmony with nature in
the center of big city. At the Fort Snelling State park, there are several terrestrial and aquatic invasive
species. What do we mean by aquatic invasive species? They are plants and animals that live in the
water and are not native to Minnesota. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Until a stable balance is reached, healthy and balanced ecosystem keep this balance through several
limiting factors, which can restrict and regulate the size or range of species such as natural climate,
geography, presence or absence of predators. When, however, these invasive species are accidentally
or intentionally transplanted into out waters. They can upset the ecological balance. They lack disease
and predator controls, so these non native species can rapidly reproduce and spread at an amazing and
faster pace than native species. The consequence is that these invasive species compete with native
species for food and habitat. These organisms harmful not because of what they are, but where they
happen to be. Most of the world s ecosystem are the result of coevolution by numerous different
organisms in the worlds, adapting to their environment and each other. In other words, natural
ecosystems become totally disrupt and out of balance. if the new species and habitat s limiting factors

Disadvantages Of Rewable Energy
1.6 RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES Energy that comes from resources which are naturally
replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat is
termed as renewable energy. The most common definition is that a natural process at a rate that is
equal to or faster than the rate at which that resource is being consumed by renewable energy is from
an energy resource. Renewable energy is a subset of sustainable energy.
1.61 Main types of renewable energy sources:
Hydro Power:
India is endowed with a large potential of hydro power, of which only 17% has been harnessed so far.
The hydroelectricity is a clean and renewable source of energy. It has been felt that there is a long
gestation period in hydro projects due to delays in forest and environment clearance, rehabilitation of
the project effected people besides inter state disputes and construction holdups due to several reasons.
Under RSE only small hydro projects are considered since they do not require large pond age and
have the capacity to provide power to remote and hilly terrain where extension of the grid system is
either un economic or not possible.
Solar Power: The climatic condition in India provides abundant potential of solar power due to large
scale radiation available during a wider part of the year due to tropical condition in the country. The
solar power can be developed for long term use through the application of solar photo voltaic (SPV)
Technology which

Benefits Of Stereotyping
Stereotyping is useful although only used if to make things easier and the goal is for empowerment
and improvement. I have a son who has a learning disability and in this case this term can get sticky!
Most people automatically assume that speaking, communication and interaction with someone with a
learning disability is difficult, impossible and some may say useless. These are stereotypes that are
unproductive.
Yet knowing that people feel this way is an empowerment to those who work so diligently to make
sure that this does not happen. By stereotyping say a child with slow processing speed or ADHD as a
child that cannot pay attention long or needs things to be concrete and direct you know how to hold a
conversation effectively. Without these stereotyping characteristics there is bound to be information
that is not received. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Be very specific. When he looks as if he has no idea what I am talking about....it is just that. And most
children with the same type of disability have the same hardships with communication!!!
Wow, I cannot believe I am saying this!!! I never realized or sat and thought that by stereotyping
different things it can be useful....again only if it is done in the manner of making it useful. I think
without singling out the disabilities and stereotyping and generalizing the specifics of somethings
there would be less advancements. This must be why professionals do constant testing to make sure
that they do not stereotype a child into one category and leave that stereotype as a label! Again making
sure that is is always for the betterment of the child not what we know of a typical

What Is The Role Of Reasoning In Judicial Decision Making
It s important to understand how judges come to their decisions, as it can often be more than just
simply applying legal principles to get to the relevant solution. It is common for there to be many
potential outcomes to a case, and these outcomes shape the way in which laws shift and change thus
having a profound impact on society as a whole our laws are what define our civilization, values,
beliefs, and morality. As Lord Dyson stated: The business of judging often involves a choice between
different conclusions, any of which it may be possible to reach by respectable legal reasoning. The
choice made is likely to be motivated at a far deeper level by the judge s own approach to the law .
This essay will cover the role of reasoning in judicial decision making; how it allows judges to
interpret statute and precedent, as well as leading the way for reform and the establishing of new case
law. It will also cover the limitations of reasoning, some of which help keep the balance of power in
check Such as binding precedent and the rule of law, as well as other subconscious factors that may
influence a judge s ability to use reason when making a decision.
Reasoning plays an important role in judicial decision making. No matter how many precedent cases,
guidelines, and statutes may exist, reasoning will always be essential because it allows these factors to
be interpreted on a case by case basis; this is necessary because statutes are too limited to be able to
cover every

Introduction
Kindness is the one notion that can be understood throughout time and across all cultures and
languages. To be altruistic in the modern day world is to show selfless concern for the welfare of
others. Many consider such a characteristic to be immeasurable, but leaps in science and math have
begun to show otherwise. This was really intriguing, as I had never even considered the possibility of
developing a mathematical basis for altruism. As my CAS project, I founded a Random Acts of
Kindness club to promote giving in my school and local community. The idea of being able to ... Show

The players choices are interrelated, so the outcome depends on both parties involved (Myerson).
This theory can be applied in a public goods experiment that dealt with a situation of making decisions
for either self or group interest. In the study, participants were placed into groups of four and each
given 20 money units (MUs). They had the choice of contributing between 0 to 20 MUs to the group
for a specified number of rounds. Their choice was only revealed to the other members of the
experiment after everyone has chosen at the end of each round (Fowler and Nicholas).
For the purpose of this paper, I will present a simplified version of this experiment modified for two
participants to show the logic behind game theory, which will determine the supposed outcome of the
experiment. The basic model serves the general purpose of demonstrating how the most beneficial
scenario is to always look out for one s own interests. In this case, the players have two choices;
donate their money, which would take away from their own pleasure, or keep it. Suppose both are
male participants. Each is assigned 1 monetary unit (MU) for the one turn game;
If both participants keep their money, each ends up with his original amount (1MU). If only one
participant donates, he loses everything (0 MU). On the other hand, the other

The Themes Of Courage In The Book Thief By Markus Zusak
Themes are inserted within literature by the author in an attempt to provoke readers to think about the
topic provided. In the novel, The Book Thief, written by Markus Zusak, many topics are presents,
such as, courage, suffering, and human behavior. The most prevalent, however, is the courage
possessed by certain individuals. This theme, bravery, is evident throughout the entire course of the
novel in Liesel Meminger, the Hubermanns, and Max Vandenburg. Liesel Meminger, coined The
Book Thief , exhibits extraordinary acts of courage within the literary work. Since birth, Meminger
has faced hardships; she deals with the absence of her father, the death of her younger brother, and the
abandonment by her mother all within several years. These adversities lead to the development of
Meminger s courageous nature, which she displays throughout the novel. Acts of her courage include
stealing books and trusting the Hubermanns After attending her brother s funeral, Liesel notices that
one of the gravediggers has dropped a novel. Looking around to make sure no one is watching her, she
collects the book and hides it; stealing this book ignites the fire and desire inside of her to learn how to
read and expand her knowledge. After Liesel Meminger arrives to the Hubermanns house in
Molching, Germany, she has to be coaxed out of the car. Finally, Hans Hubermann, later known as
Papa, is the successor in luring the child out of the car, he immediately gains her trust, unlike his cold
counterpart, Rosa Hubermann. Despite Rosa s foul mouth and direct orders, Saumensch. You call me
Mama when you talk to me (Zusak 35), Liesel eventually learns to trust and love her. Learning to love
and to trust the Hubermanns shows how courageous Liesel truly is since she had previously faced the
abandonment/death of two parents. Hans and Rosa Hubermann are driven by bravery throughout the
entire course of The Book Thief and are perhaps the most courageous characters within the novel.
Hans Hubermann defies the Furher (the leader Hitler) by not joining the Nazi Party, despite the
amount of pride that is supposed to be associated with it. Hubermann is looked down upon by much of
society due to this decision, even his own son, Hans

The Dream Of The Rood
The Dream of the Rood is by an unknown, Anglo Saxon, author. This ancient poem is about Jesus
being crucified through the cross point of view. Although this poem is about Jesus death, it does not
exactly match up with what the Bible has depicted in the Gospels of the New Testament. There is a
culture clash between the Anglo Saxon culture and beliefs and what the Bible thinks of Jesus during
his crucifixion. In this poem the author expresses Christ as strong, heroic, and bold, but the Bible
states that he was humble, passive, and weak. Contrary to what the Bible says, The Dream of the Rood
proclaims that Christ felt no pain, the cross did. These are only a few examples of the differences
between the Bible s take on this story versus the unknown author. This piece of literature is so highly
regarded, even today, because of the culture clash it displays. The story of the crucifixion of Jesus
Christ had only been written down in the Bible. To see this story being transformed into how a newer
culture interpreted the story had never been heard of up until this point in history. This shows how
time and different cultures can change stories and belief systems. ... Show more content on

In Flanders Fields Comparison
As the First World War dragged steadily onward toward its conclusion, the perspective of the war held
by the citizens began to evolve. Nowhere is this clearer than in the poems written by John McCrae and
Wilfred Owen. In Flanders Fields, by McCrae, and Dulce Et Decorum Est, by Owen, portray vastly
different depictions of the war being waged across the European continent. The evolving nature of the
European perspective of the war is evident in these two poems, as it changed from McCrae s
inspirational tone at the beginning of the war to the realistic and depressing tone put forth by Owen.
John McCrae wrote In Flanders Field in 1915 during the first stages of the war and intended to inspire
the reader to join and fight for the cause. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gone is the glorious and heroic depiction given by McCrae; replaced by the realistic description of

Essay On Good Vs Evil Wuthering Heights
Wuthering Heights: Good vs. Evil Emily Bronte s classical literary masterpiece, Wuthering Heights,
can more or less be viewed as a struggle between conventional, civilized human behavior, as well as
the wild, anarchistic side that each of us humans possess, although subtly. Bronte s piece can be
summed up by the good vs. evil elements that include Wuthering Heights as opposed to Thrushcross
Grange, Heathcliff vs. Edgar, and much more. These elemental set points lead to the conclusion that
Wuthering Heights cannot be classified as a love story, as there is no happy ending, and the heroine
dies at roughly the halfway point of the book. This aspect makes the masterpiece an enduring Gothic
classic, as Bronte is able to transform characters feelings onto paper, unmatched by any in the dark
literary realm. Bronte s inclusions of aspects such as ghosts, as well as the tranquility in which the
Grange brings are the set pieces that make the novel a battle between good and evil, rather than simply
a fictitious love account that ends in futility. Emily Bronte seemingly uses the two estates as a means
of setting the tone for the novel s continuous battle between good vs. evil. In accordance, the two
settings of Thrushcross Grange as well as Wuthering Heights establish the key elements of culture and
nature, which in many ways ties in to the Gothic elements of the novel. The name given to the second
dwelling, Wuthering , meaning extremely windy and turbulent, emphasizes the

Most of the trans fat is found in processed and packaged food and is evident that this is a major cause

I Have Always Love Science Since A Young Age
I have always love science since a young age. During high school I began experimenting with all the
different science classes that the school had to offer. Out of all of those classes I found the one that
brought incredible amount of fascination. That class was Botany where I had studied plants and
learned their functions. I learned about how they grow from a seed to how they reproduce. Even with
that class I have always found that plants bring a certain amount of curiosity. I had dreamt many ways
to the perfect yard with all sorts of plant species. The yard would be overflowing with plants. Also the
house would have so many plants inside that it would be a jungle. The courses required for botany are
very heavy with science. I know that I will be taking fifteen different science classes. I looked forward
to the challenges that each class will bring. During the time in my freshman year I would like to know
what reading and writing I will need for botany.
I looked in greater detail into Botany, I came to very interesting details about what my major will
include. I gathered all sorts of facts from different sources about Botany. Plant science is a hands on
very skilled profession. It requires a lot of experience and skills to work in the basic field of it. Botany
is very broad science of plants. Different scientist study certain parts of plants and their functions.

unique experience with an airline that I could ever remember. It all started out quite oddly enough in
the lobby just before takeoff. As I was checking in at the ticket counter, the representative asked me if
I wanted to play a game that could get me free round trip tickets. quot;Sure, who wouldn t, quot; I
exclaimed. As she gave me my boarding pass she said, quot;Great, how many holes do you have in

Twenty seven years ago, Rollin King, a San Antonio entrepreneur who owned a small commuter air

of airline. They began with one simple notion. If you get your passengers to their destinations when
they want to get there, on time, at the lowest possible fares, and make certain they have a good time
doing it, people will fly your airline. And you know what? They were right. Within those 27 years,
Southwest Airlines became the fifth largest major airline in America. Today, they have flown over 50
million passengers a year to 54 cities all over the southwest and beyond. They do it over 2,300 times a
day with over 267 of the newest jets in the nation and fly only one type aircraft; the B 737. The
average age of their fleet is only 8.4 years and they own over sixty percent of them. In May 1988, they

Speeding Bullet Two Heaven Analysis
Look no further: Kid Cudi s new record Speeding Bullet 2 Heaven has all the attributes of a bad album
and then some. On the backs of critically panned singles CONFUSED! , Wedding Tux , and the
perfectly named Judgmental Cunt , Cudi s latest record differs incredibly from both Man On The
Moons. This is not a hip hop album, first of all the entire hour long record is guitars and bass, taking
significant inspiration from angsty 90s alt rock. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this, and
Cudi is at least trying to stretch some boundaries. However, he utterly misses the mark. Speeding
Bullet 2 Heaven is an utter failure, a nastily boring album that fails to address any of the flaws in Cudi
s approach to rock songwriting.
It can be hard to cross over genres, just as it is hard to cross over art forms. Some do it with aplomb to
pull a name or two out of the hat, Zooey Deschanel is a talented actor and songwriter, and Justin
Timberlake has proven his worth in comedy and film as much as he has in his music. However, we get
something very different when a egotistical artist who is great in one field crosses over to a new one:
the deluded artist. Here we see Kid Cudi, a reasonably established and quite popular hip hop ... Show

perception of the state of the Earth at the time she was writing The Dispossessed. and the Earthlings

the book, Keng speaks little of what life is like on Earth, but it is clear from what she does say, and
from her reaction to Urras, that life on Earth in her time is terrible. Throughout the book, the reader is

Shevek. (347). Both hail from different foreign planets and are therefore removed from the culture of
Urras. But despite this shared experience, they have vastly different views of the planet. Shevek
despises Urras, as he feels the people are immoral and value nothing of worth. The overarching
philosophy of the planet centered on profit and possession is at odds with Shevek s most basic beliefs
of freedom and equality. Urras may be rich in material goods, but Shevek finds it lacking in the
qualities he sees are valuable, such as brotherhood and compassion. For example, he compares Urras

Functionalist Perspective
Sociologists analyze and interpret social phenomena at different levels and from different
perspectives. Sociologists study everything from specific behaviors on the micro level to generalized,
big pictures on the macro level. Each palpable explanation and theoretical generalization of society
and social behavior that sociologists provide, contribute to the understanding of complex behaviors we
demonstrate everyday. Pioneering sociologists introduced a broad conceptualization of the
fundamentals of society. These views are now the basis of which today s theoretical perspectives are

Functionalist Perspective According to the Functionalist Perspective, also known as functionalism,
each aspect of society is interdependent and the parts its people have in it all contribute to society s
functioning as a whole. Largely based on the works of Herbert Spencer, Emile Durkheim, Talcott
Parsons, and Robert Merton, functionalism states that society is a system of interconnected parts that
rely on each other to maintain balance and social equilibrium. Functionalism emphasizes the
interconnectedness of society by focusing on the relationships and influences present in each part of
society. Terms as functional and dysfunctional are often used by sociologists focusing on
functionalism. Elements are said to be functional if they contribute to social stability and
dysfunctional if they break the pattern of stability. (Crossman, 2017) Functionalists are described to
defend the status quo, avoid social change, and believe people cooperate to effect social order.
Functionalism addresses society as a whole by standards of norms, customs, traditions, and
institutions. While once criticized for failure to account for social change and ignoring systematic
inequalities that naturally produce tension and conflict. The functionalist theory easily allows for
specific macro analyses of more contentious power imbalances while also permitting a

Forging, Horticulture, Agriculture, Industrialism And The...
The five modes of livelihood are, foraging, horticulture, pastoralism, agriculture, Industrialism and the
Information Age.
Foraging is based on obtaining food only available in nature, this includes fruits, small animals, nuts,
berries, and etc. This is done by either gathering, fishing, or hunting resources. The labor of this
system is family based and the gender roles do overlap. Though men tend to do the hunting, while the
females do more foraging. Foraging has a high degree of sustainability if there s undisturbed outside
forces.
Horticulture is the process of getting food by cultivating crops within gardens. These crop yields
support denser populations than foraging and allow for permanent settlements. The labor is made by
usually a main family. Men often do more work in terms of actual manually labor, such as clearing the
land. Everyone has a part in the process even the children. They help out by caring for siblings,
fetching fuel, and hauling water. The system has a high sustainability, but can get threaten by outsiders

The King of Spain at that time was called Phillip, and he had previously asked Elizabeth to marry him,
but she had refused. He grew more annoyed with her because they belonged to different religions, and
she had encouraged her pirate s to raid Spanish ships, amongst other reasons. Eventually, he prepared
an Armada to attack England, but it failed and the Spanish returned home. I think that Elizabeth could
have behaved with a little more diplomacy to avoid war, and she didn t actually help to defeat the
Spaniards, although she did make a very stirring speech to her troops, which started, I may have the
body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a great king. Also, lots of her
injured soldiers who returned home alive were not paid and were left to beg in the streets for the
remainder of their lives, although that might be a different issue. So basically I do think that Elizabeth
deserved the title, Good Queen Bess, because she was very innovative and forward thinking for her
time, and wasn t too cruel for her time. One thing is sure, and that it that she was certainly a very
interesting woman. In conclusion, I would like to end this essay thanking you for reading it, I hoped

A Day I Was A New Beginning For My Life
Settling in new country isn t always easy. A day I arrived in Vermont seemed to be a new beginning
for my life. I came to Vermont on December 09th, 2008. I was about 14 years old, and I had no idea
what I was thinking of. I was so confused, and I didn t speak English at all. I thought I was lost
because I saw so many diverse people I ve never seen in my life. I felt uncomfortable to be here
because I didn t understand what it was going on this state. I thought that I was in wrong place
because it wasn t easy for me to start living in Vermont. Living in Vermont made feel like I was totally
blank in my mind because I felt dislocated and insecure. For example, I was scared to go outside and
hang out with other friends because I thought they would hit me or laugh at me. I remember playing
around with my neighbors; they came to me and asked me if I could play with them. I was totally lost
because I didn t understand what they asked me. They kept mumbling words I couldn t understand at
all. I felt unwanted to be with them because they didn t speak my native language. As I left them, they
started laughing so hard, and I was afraid of asking them what they were laughing. As long as they
kept laughing, I suddenly ran to my room with anger. When I got into my room, I started nodding my
head and wondering what I could I do to just forget what I saw a outside. I was so worried because I
thought that this country wasn t right place for me. What I had to do was to stay

Expense of the Iran-Iraq War
Costing up to $1,000,000,000 monthly and possible over $300,000,000,000 in material terms
(Swearingen, 1988) over the course of the conflict, the Iran Iraq War was at face value, an attempt by
Iraq to compel Iran to recognize Iraq s territorial rights and to renegotiate the 1975 treaty. Initially,
Iraq seemed to have either no clearly formulated strategic goals or had fallen short of them the first
reaction one would have when hearing that Iraq called for a cease fire 6 days in and issued a set of
demands which included a renegotiation of the treaty, return of the islands to the UAE and the non
participation and non interaction of Iran within the Gulf community.
Most see Iraq coming out of the war as more powerful in absolute power terms but not in relation to
the rising power of its neighbours (Parasiliti, 2003, p. 160). According to Parasilati (2003) Iraq s
reliance on its economic strategic rents the billions of loans and grants given by the West and other
Arab Gulf states undercut its power relative to its neighbours. Even though it may seem like Iraq hadn
t lost territorially, its bid for power failed and dropped it deeper into debt. In addition, the only positive
aspect of the war was the slight increase in the national pride amongst Iraqis but none of the important
geopolitical issues were addressed.
There was no change in the 1975 agreement over the Shatt al Arab waterway (Bahadori, 2005, p. 3)
nor was Iraq the pre dominant power in the Gulf.

Hamlet And Religion Essay
The Religion of Shakespeare
When studying the plays of Shakespeare, primarily Hamlet, it is easy to see Shakespeare had a deep
respect and understanding of Christianity. During the 1600 s, the time in which Hamlet was created,
Christianity was split into two main religious groups. One of these groups was Catholicism, which
was discriminated against, and the other Protestantism. Protestants were the group of Christians
created when the Church of England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman
Catholic Church. Those individuals protested the rule of the Catholic Church, hence being called
Protestants. During this time period, in hopes of deterring the return of the Catholic Church and it s
rule of England, Catholicism was, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet includes thoughts on mortality, the afterlife, suicide, and the consequences of an individual s
actions. Hamlet mulls over the idea of suicide in his To be or not to be soliloquy. As he cannot be
certain what will happen to his spirit after death, he does not follow through with this thought. In the
Christian religion it is understood only God can give and take life. And said, Naked came I out of my
mother s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord taketh away: blessed be
the name of the Lord. (KJV Job 1:21). Suicide is ungodly to Christian s because it rejects God s gift of
life. This concern with the destination of one s spirit shows Hamlet to be aware and concerned for his
spirit (soul). Shakespeare adding this inner conflict inside Hamlet s mind immensely deepens the
character. It also shows that, as a writer, Shakespeare understands completely that an internal conflict
can add as much satisfying drama to a piece as external conflict between characters. Shakespeare
including the very human idea of thinking and worrying about what happens after death makes Hamlet
seem as real as any individual you pass by on a daily

Resting Membrane Potential Research Paper
Hanan Yusuf
BIO 350 002
In order to understand electrical signaling in biological membranes, we must know the basic
properties of the resting membrane potential. Electrical signaling of biological membranes is required
for effective cell to cell communication in our bodies (Watson et al. 2015). In order for the conduction
of electrical signals along membranes to occur, cells must be excited. Before excitation occurs, the cell
membrane is at rest; this state is known as resting membrane potential. The resting membrane
potential results from a separation of charges across the membrane. Additionally, at this state there is
no massive ion movement across the membrane.
Initially, the potassium concentration is larger inside of the cell than outside whereas the sodium
concentration is larger outside of the cell than inside. As a result, the aforementioned ions will travel
down their concentration gradient; potassium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the K+/Na+ ATPase pump actively transports potassium into the cell and sodium out of
the cell in order to maintain the membrane potential of the cell. This process requires energy because
the pump goes against the concentration gradient of the ions. As a result, the potassium concentration
is higher inside of the cell than outside and the sodium concentration is higher outside of the cell than
inside. This causes a large net diffusion of potassium out of cell and only a small net diffusion of
sodium into the cell in order to establish equilibrium potential (Sherwood et al. 2013). More potassium
diffuses via the membrane than sodium because the membrane is 25X more permeable to potassium
than to sodium (Purves et al. 2001). The resting membrane potential value for a typical cell is 70
millivolts, which is closer to the equilibrium potential of potassium due to its high

With a shipping theft rate on the rise at approximately $30 billion a year, the logistics industry was
forced to find better ways of tracking. As with any security device, the criminals will find ingenious
methods to work around them. (Heyn, 2014) Global Positioning System tracking in logistics has
helped the industry tremendously by adding benefits such as improved supply chain security, meeting
the customer needs by knowing exactly where shipments are, reduction in lost shipments, and aiding
law enforcement with recovery of stolen goods. As technology has improved, GPS units have shrunk
in size and now can be covertly placed within shipments. As criminals have learned to dismantle GPS
systems, often a multiple units have been put on shipments. (Heyn, 2014) This enables a GPS receiver
to be placed for tracking of a single load like a shipping container with multiple items linked to the
container, or a single value item for individual traceability. A simple solution for shipping and
transportation companies has been found with GPS. On average, a shipment can be protected and real
time traceability provided at just five dollars unit. This is quite a return on investment with the huge
theft and loss rate of shipments. ( GPS Package Tracking GPSit, n.d.)

Difference Between San And Nas
There are two main types of network based storage, storage area networks (SAN) and network
attached storage (NAS). Choosing between a SAN and a NAS system depends on user s needs. In fact,
each technology certainly has its own advantages as well as disadvantages. A storage area network
(SAN) is a dedicated high speed network used to connect and manage shared storage devices. A SAN
network makes it easier for all serves to access unlimited number of storage devices through a LAN or

Mammals Gas Exchange Research
Like insects aquatic mammals originated from terrestrial mammals. Mammals are much larger than
insects so they require different adaptations to be able to survive in an aquatic environment. Mammals
gas exchange occurs in the lungs because of this, mammals are not able to live completely underwater.
They still need to surface for air. Some live in the water for all stages of life including whales and
dolphins but others including seals breed on land. Land mammals are generally not very efficient
swimmers. However those that have evolved to become aquatic mammals have developed streamlined
bodies. Their ears have shrunk and are now small holes and they have completely lost their back
limbs. Their front limbs have been replaced with fins.
Mammals that have adapted to live in the aquatic environment have many advantages. This means that

Galatians 5: 16 18 (RSV) states:
But I say, walk by the Spirit and do not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are

So we have the opportunity today to choose the power and freedom in Christ as opposed to slavery
through useless and destructive solutions We have escaped self deception. We realize that no amount
of works will grant us salvation. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior that we
will receive it.
Step 3: Cross the Principilizing Bridge
We find that the theological principle that people cannot achieve God s acceptance by keeping the law
or by human effort alone (symbolized by circumcision). God s grace is given as a gift This principle is
timeless. It is not geared towards any culture. It is directed at all of those who believe Christ to be our
Lord and Savior, is not time specific and is relevant to both the biblical reader as well as the
contemporary. God s law shows people their sins. So it shows people that they need to trust Jesus.
Only Jesus can free us from the punishment for our sins. And it is not enough that we cease to do evil,
but we must learn to do well. Our conversation will always be answerable to the principle which
guides and governs us.
Step 4: Grasp the text in our town
We do not live by the Law of Moses today, however, we very often live our lives as if we are in
control. We labor for money, property and prestige sometimes by any means necessary and believe
that we will gain favor in the eyes of God and our peers.

Democracy As A Best Solution, And Underlying Capitalist...
Democracy has morphed in the face of time due to exterior forces which in turn have impacted the
understanding of what democracy in action should look like. Technology, education, religious decay
and rise, and many other facets of modern life have overwhelmed the understanding of what
democracy is. Simply engaging with the concept of democracy is in itself an acceptance of values and
assumptions about what governments, and many times economies, should look like. But this paper
hardly allows for alternative approach, so the mindset and concepts proposed are a result of the
acceptance of western understandings of governance, the natural arrival of democracy as a best
solution, and underlying capitalist forces which populates democracy at its core, from Locke to the
American founding fathers.
So the question becomes what democracy actually looks like in the real world. For as lofty or
revolutionary as the founders might have been in their goals, American democracy, now and then, has
never been as good as what it looks on paper. The evolutional lens of democracy is then one of both
how one arrives at governance and what does democracy stand for. Is it having elections, which might
or might not be free in nature? Is it torturing and discriminating against its own citizens? Bending to
the popular will of the majority? Protecting minorities? Seeing all as equal in the eyes of the law? Is it
none of the above? This really becomes then a question of the cause and consequences of

Essay On The Story Of The Ghost
Pip, wait! Simon yelled at a high pitched voice. The dog franticly running at
the woody overlook of the pond. Pip, where are you boy? . Simon heard a rustle in the
bushes next to him, it was like a bee whispering in a low voice. He turned on his
flashlight and began to wonder into the mossy, and overgrown, dew riddled forrest. He
began to hear sounds all around him as he got further into the mystical looking forrest.
He tripped over a log and he gasped with fear and began to pant like a dog. His
flashlight started flickering, and suddenly went out with a quiet zzzttt . He could not see
two feet in front of him and it suddenly became cold and gloomy, a fog seeped over him.
The fog was cold and misty and like a rainy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

scratchiness of his voice. As Simon walked further from the man he tripped on a thick chain.

until he reached the clearing in the middle of the dark forest. He was looking all around
his surroundings for the old man. Then hearing the thick chain rattling on the gravel and saw
the old man approach him quietly. Come eer boy! The man yelled. Hiding might have

Viral Hemorrhagic Fever and Ebola Virus Species
What is Ebola hemorrhagic fever? Ebola hemorrhagic fever (Ebola HF) is a severe, often fatal disease
in humans and nonhuman primates (monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees) that has appeared
sporadically since its initial recognition in 1976. The disease is caused by infection with Ebola virus,
named after a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in Africa, where it was
first recognized. The virus is one of two members of a family of RNA viruses called the Filoviridae.
There are five identified subtypes of Ebola virus. Four of the five have caused disease in humans:
Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, Ebola Ivory Coast and Ebola Bundibugyo. The fifth, Ebola Reston, has
caused disease in nonhuman primates, but not in humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Persons tested later in the course of the disease or after recovery can be tested for IgM and IgG
antibodies; the disease can also be diagnosed retrospectively in deceased patients by using
immunohistochemistry testing, virus isolation, or PCR.
How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever treated?
There is no standard treatment for Ebola HF. Patients receive supportive therapy. This consists of
balancing the patient s fluids and electrolytes, maintaining their oxygen status and blood pressure, and
treating them for any complicating infections.
How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever prevented?
The prevention of Ebola HF in Africa presents many challenges. Because the identity and location of
the natural reservoir of Ebola virus are unknown, there are few established primary prevention
measures.
If cases of the disease do appear, current social and economic conditions often favor the spread of an
epidemic within health care facilities. Therefore, health care providers must be able to recognize a
case of Ebola HF should one appear. They must also have the capability to perform diagnostic tests
and be ready to employ practical viral hemorrhagic fever isolation precautions, or barrier nursing
techniques. These techniques include the wearing of protective clothing, such as masks, gloves,
gowns, and goggles; the use of infection control measures, including complete equipment sterilization;
and the isolation of Ebola HF patients from contact with unprotected

The Hurt Locker Character Analysis
In 2008, director Kathryn Bigelow presented The Hurt Locker, a war drama focusing on an army
bomb squad during the Iraq War. When Sergeant JT Sanborn loses one of his men from to an
explosion, Sergeant First Class William James replaces the bomb defuser and joins Sanborn and
Specialist Owen Eldridge. Due to Sanborn s heavy ego and James reckless methods, tensions rise and
the men constantly quarrel until the three realize their similarities of being entrapped by war. The film
explores the idea of soldiers as heroes and even questions the validity of this concept; various
situations challenge James and his reactions do not always correspond with those of a cliché idol.
Although James contradicts the idea of the typical hero, he ultimately exhibits ... Show more content

Bigelow operates this idea entirely; she begins by proving realistic heroes also benefit from their own
actions. Past films display heroes actions as only benefiting the lives of citizens as a collective whole,
but Bigelow does not believe in solely choosing between the happiness of the people and the
happiness of the hero. Instead, James endeavors serve his country and himself personally.
Additionally, Bigelow recognizes how heroes possess flaws and how this forms a connection between
heroism and humanity. James demonstrates his faults through his humane reaction to a body bomb;
instead of following common protocol and destroying the young boy s corpse, he keeps the carcass
intact and ultimately ends of killing another soldier due to an explosion. This scene also validates how
heroes must take risks that threaten the lives of others. Audiences already understand how a typical
American hero can jeopardize his own life, but the modern American hero understands he cannot
sacrifice himself alone; others might face risks as well. The scene in which James and his squad
oppose military orders during their final mission also supports this characteristic. Because Bigelow
portrays the character of James as a

Vaccines Are The Tugboats Of Preventive Health
Introduction
Vaccines are the tugboats of preventive health (Billy Corgan). Vaccines are one of the most cost
effective health solutions; they are seen as the safest and best way to prevent diseases. They are also
effective in preventing bacterial infections such as whooping cough (pertussis) and tetanus. But there
are people around the world who purposely avoid it because of the ingredients inside or because of
their own bad experiences with vaccines. Due to the rise of conscientious vaccine objectors in
Australia, the Australian government introduced the No Jab No Pay legislation. The legislation
consists on the government cutting child care benefits and tax rebate if the child isn t immunised;
ultimately to improve the immunisation coverage rates in Australia. ( No Jab No Pay, Australian
Vaccination skeptics Network Inc. , 2016) It also provides a catch up plan that provides free service
for children under 10. The scheme aims to improve overall vaccination standards in Australia. But
why do people object getting vaccination? Is the No Jab No Pay the best solution? Is there a better
solution to vaccination rates? The report aims to answer the questions above through research and data
from Australia and around the world.
Importance of Vaccination
Vaccinations are an important force against preventable diseases, they fight many diseases and it
doesn t only protect the person vaccinated but can protect others. They can control the spread of
disease to people who are not

Disadvantages Of Rewable Energy 1.6 RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES Energy that comes from resources which are naturally replenished on a human timescale such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat is termed as renewable energy. The most common definition is that a natural process at a rate that is equal to or faster than the rate at which that resource is being consumed by renewable energy is from an energy resource. Renewable energy is a subset of sustainable energy. 1.61 Main types of renewable energy sources: Hydro Power: India is endowed with a large potential of hydro power, of which only 17% has been harnessed so far. The hydroelectricity is a clean and renewable source of energy. It has been felt that there is a long gestation period in hydro projects due to delays in forest and environment clearance, rehabilitation of the project effected people besides inter state disputes and construction holdups due to several reasons. Under RSE only small hydro projects are considered since they do not require large pond age and have the capacity to provide power to remote and hilly terrain where extension of the grid system is either un economic or not possible. Solar Power: The climatic condition in India provides abundant potential of solar power due to large scale radiation available during a wider part of the year due to tropical condition in the country. • 4. Benefits Of Stereotyping Stereotyping is useful although only used if to make things easier and the goal is for empowerment and improvement. I have a son who has a learning disability and in this case this term can get sticky! Most people automatically assume that speaking, communication and interaction with someone with a learning disability is difficult, impossible and some may say useless. These are stereotypes that are unproductive. Yet knowing that people feel this way is an empowerment to those who work so diligently to make sure that this does not happen. By stereotyping say a child with slow processing speed or ADHD as a child that cannot pay attention long or needs things to be concrete and direct you know how to hold a conversation effectively. I think without singling out the disabilities and stereotyping and generalizing the specifics of somethings there would be less advancements. This must be why professionals do constant testing to make sure that they do not stereotype a child into one category and leave that stereotype as a label! Again making sure that is is always for the betterment of the child not what we know of a typical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. What Is The Role Of Reasoning In Judicial Decision Making It s important to understand how judges come to their decisions, as it can often be more than just simply applying legal principles to get to the relevant solution. It is common for there to be many potential outcomes to a case, and these outcomes shape the way in which laws shift and change thus having a profound impact on society as a whole our laws are what define our civilization, values, beliefs, and morality. As Lord Dyson stated: The business of judging often involves a choice between different conclusions, any of which it may be possible to reach by respectable legal reasoning. The choice made is likely to be motivated at a far deeper level by the judge s own approach to the law . This essay will cover the role of reasoning in judicial decision making; how it allows judges to interpret statute and precedent, as well as leading the way for reform and the establishing of new case law. It will also cover the limitations of reasoning, some of which help keep the balance of power in check Such as binding precedent and the rule of law, as well as other subconscious factors that may influence a judge s ability to use reason when making a decision. Reasoning plays an important role in judicial decision making. No matter how many precedent cases, guidelines, and statutes may exist, reasoning will always be essential because it allows these factors to be interpreted on a case by case basis; this is necessary because statutes are too limited to be able to cover every ... The Search For Altruism Citadel High School Mathematics SL The Search for Altruism Alina Chen 002937 0110 (Examinations) May 2015 Introduction Kindness is the one notion that can be understood throughout time and across all cultures and languages. To be altruistic in the modern day world is to show selfless concern for the welfare of others. Many consider such a characteristic to be immeasurable, but leaps in science and math have begun to show otherwise. This was really intriguing, as I had never even considered the possibility of developing a mathematical basis for altruism. The players choices are interrelated, so the outcome depends on both parties involved (Myerson). This theory can be applied in a public goods experiment that dealt with a situation of making decisions for either self or group interest. In the study, participants were placed into groups of four and each given 20 money units (MUs). They had the choice of contributing between 0 to 20 MUs to the group for a specified number of rounds. Their choice was only revealed to the other members of the experiment after everyone has chosen at the end of each round (Fowler and Nicholas). For the purpose of this paper, I will present a simplified version of this experiment modified for two participants to show the logic behind game theory, which will determine the supposed outcome of the experiment. The basic model serves the general purpose of demonstrating how the most beneficial scenario is to always look out for one s own interests. In this case, the players have two choices; donate their money, which would take away from their own pleasure, or keep it. Suppose both are male participants. Each is assigned 1 monetary unit (MU) for the one turn game; If both participants keep their money, each ends up with his original amount (1MU). • 7. The Themes Of Courage In The Book Thief By Markus Zusak Themes are inserted within literature by the author in an attempt to provoke readers to think about the topic provided. In the novel, The Book Thief, written by Markus Zusak, many topics are presents, such as, courage, suffering, and human behavior. The most prevalent, however, is the courage possessed by certain individuals. This theme, bravery, is evident throughout the entire course of the novel in Liesel Meminger, the Hubermanns, and Max Vandenburg. Liesel Meminger, coined The Book Thief , exhibits extraordinary acts of courage within the literary work. Since birth, Meminger has faced hardships; she deals with the absence of her father, the death of her younger brother, and the abandonment by her mother all within several years. These adversities lead to the development of Meminger s courageous nature, which she displays throughout the novel. Acts of her courage include stealing books and trusting the Hubermanns After attending her brother s funeral, Liesel notices that one of the gravediggers has dropped a novel. Looking around to make sure no one is watching her, she collects the book and hides it; stealing this book ignites the fire and desire inside of her to learn how to read and expand her knowledge. After Liesel Meminger arrives to the Hubermanns house in Molching, Germany, she has to be coaxed out of the car. Finally, Hans Hubermann, later known as Papa, is the successor in luring the child out of the car, he immediately gains her trust, unlike his cold counterpart, Rosa Hubermann. Despite Rosa s foul mouth and direct orders, Saumensch. You call me Mama when you talk to me (Zusak 35), Liesel eventually learns to trust and love her. Learning to love and to trust the Hubermanns shows how courageous Liesel truly is since she had previously faced the abandonment/death of two parents. Hans and Rosa Hubermann are driven by bravery throughout the entire course of The Book Thief and are perhaps the most courageous characters within the novel. Hans Hubermann defies the Furher (the leader Hitler) by not joining the Nazi Party, despite the amount of pride that is supposed to be associated with it. Hubermann is looked down upon by much of society due to this decision, even his own son, Hans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Dream Of The Rood The Dream of the Rood is by an unknown, Anglo Saxon, author. This ancient poem is about Jesus being crucified through the cross point of view. Although this poem is about Jesus death, it does not exactly match up with what the Bible has depicted in the Gospels of the New Testament. There is a culture clash between the Anglo Saxon culture and beliefs and what the Bible thinks of Jesus during his crucifixion. In this poem the author expresses Christ as strong, heroic, and bold, but the Bible states that he was humble, passive, and weak. Contrary to what the Bible says, The Dream of the Rood proclaims that Christ felt no pain, the cross did. These are only a few examples of the differences between the Bible s take on this story versus the unknown author. This piece of literature is so highly regarded, even today, because of the culture clash it displays. The story of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ had only been written down in the Bible. To see this story being transformed into how a newer culture interpreted the story had never been heard of up until this point in history. • 11. Essay On Good Vs Evil Wuthering Heights Wuthering Heights: Good vs. Evil Emily Bronte s classical literary masterpiece, Wuthering Heights, can more or less be viewed as a struggle between conventional, civilized human behavior, as well as the wild, anarchistic side that each of us humans possess, although subtly. Bronte s piece can be summed up by the good vs. evil elements that include Wuthering Heights as opposed to Thrushcross Grange, Heathcliff vs. Edgar, and much more. These elemental set points lead to the conclusion that Wuthering Heights cannot be classified as a love story, as there is no happy ending, and the heroine dies at roughly the halfway point of the book. This aspect makes the masterpiece an enduring Gothic classic, as Bronte is able to transform characters feelings onto paper, unmatched by any in the dark literary realm. Bronte s inclusions of aspects such as ghosts, as well as the tranquility in which the Grange brings are the set pieces that make the novel a battle between good and evil, rather than simply a fictitious love account that ends in futility. Emily Bronte seemingly uses the two estates as a means of setting the tone for the novel s continuous battle between good vs. evil. In accordance, the two settings of Thrushcross Grange as well as Wuthering Heights establish the key elements of culture and nature, which in many ways ties in to the Gothic elements of the novel. The name given to the second dwelling, Wuthering , meaning extremely windy and turbulent, emphasizes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is not a hip hop album, first of all the entire hour long record is guitars and bass, taking significant inspiration from angsty 90s alt rock. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with this, and Cudi is at least trying to stretch some boundaries. However, he utterly misses the mark. Speeding Bullet 2 Heaven is an utter failure, a nastily boring album that fails to address any of the flaws in Cudi s approach to rock songwriting. It can be hard to cross over genres, just as it is hard to cross over art forms. Largely based on the works of Herbert Spencer, Emile Durkheim, Talcott Parsons, and Robert Merton, functionalism states that society is a system of interconnected parts that rely on each other to maintain balance and social equilibrium. Functionalism emphasizes the interconnectedness of society by focusing on the relationships and influences present in each part of society. The labor of this system is family based and the gender roles do overlap. Though men tend to do the hunting, while the females do more foraging. Foraging has a high degree of sustainability if there s undisturbed outside forces. Horticulture is the process of getting food by cultivating crops within gardens. These crop yields support denser populations than foraging and allow for permanent settlements. The labor is made by usually a main family. Men often do more work in terms of actual manually labor, such as clearing the land. Everyone has a part in the process even the children. Certainly I agree with you it was a terrible thing that her soldiers and sailors didn t get paid, especially after the Spanish Armada, when many sailors were reduced to begging. and by the end of her reign the standard of living for the common people of England was at it s lowest ever. But she manage to keep her throne for forty five years which makes her a good Queen in the sense that she was a survivor, and at the beginning at any rate she did attempt to be tolerant of other religions, while virtually creating the Church of England and settling the religious question. I think that Elizabeth could have behaved with a little more diplomacy to avoid war, and she didn t actually help to defeat the Spaniards, although she did make a very stirring speech to her troops, which started, I may have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a great king. Also, lots of her injured soldiers who returned home alive were not paid and were left to beg in the streets for the remainder of their lives, although that might be a different issue. So basically I do think that Elizabeth deserved the title, Good Queen Bess, because she was very innovative and forward thinking for her time, and wasn t too cruel for her time. Hamlet And Religion Essay The Religion of Shakespeare When studying the plays of Shakespeare, primarily Hamlet, it is easy to see Shakespeare had a deep respect and understanding of Christianity. During the 1600 s, the time in which Hamlet was created, Christianity was split into two main religious groups. One of these groups was Catholicism, which was discriminated against, and the other Protestantism. Protestants were the group of Christians created when the Church of England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church. As he cannot be certain what will happen to his spirit after death, he does not follow through with this thought. In the Christian religion it is understood only God can give and take life. And said, Naked came I out of my mother s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord taketh away: blessed be the name of the Lord. (KJV Job 1:21). Suicide is ungodly to Christian s because it rejects God s gift of life. This concern with the destination of one s spirit shows Hamlet to be aware and concerned for his spirit (soul). • 27. Resting Membrane Potential Research Paper Hanan Yusuf BIO 350 002 In order to understand electrical signaling in biological membranes, we must know the basic properties of the resting membrane potential. Electrical signaling of biological membranes is required for effective cell to cell communication in our bodies (Watson et al. 2015). In order for the conduction of electrical signals along membranes to occur, cells must be excited. Before excitation occurs, the cell membrane is at rest; this state is known as resting membrane potential. The resting membrane potential results from a separation of charges across the membrane. Additionally, at this state there is no massive ion movement across the membrane. Initially, the potassium concentration is larger inside of the cell than outside whereas the sodium concentration is larger outside of the cell than inside. As a result, the aforementioned ions will travel down their concentration gradient; potassium ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, the K+/Na+ ATPase pump actively transports potassium into the cell and sodium out of the cell in order to maintain the membrane potential of the cell. This process requires energy because the pump goes against the concentration gradient of the ions. As a result, the potassium concentration is higher inside of the cell than outside and the sodium concentration is higher outside of the cell than inside. This causes a large net diffusion of potassium out of cell and only a small net diffusion of sodium into the cell in order to establish equilibrium potential (Sherwood et al. 2013). More potassium diffuses via the membrane than sodium because the membrane is 25X more permeable to potassium than to sodium (Purves et al. 2001). Democracy has morphed in the face of time due to exterior forces which in turn have impacted the understanding of what democracy in action should look like. Technology, education, religious decay and rise, and many other facets of modern life have overwhelmed the understanding of what democracy is. Simply engaging with the concept of democracy is in itself an acceptance of values and assumptions about what governments, and many times economies, should look like. The evolutional lens of democracy is then one of both how one arrives at governance and what does democracy stand for. Is it having elections, which might or might not be free in nature? Is it torturing and discriminating against its own citizens? Bending to the popular will of the majority? Protecting minorities? Seeing all as equal in the eyes of the law? Is it none of the above? • 44. Viral Hemorrhagic Fever and Ebola Virus Species What is Ebola hemorrhagic fever? Ebola hemorrhagic fever (Ebola HF) is a severe, often fatal disease in humans and nonhuman primates (monkeys, gorillas, and chimpanzees) that has appeared sporadically since its initial recognition in 1976. The disease is caused by infection with Ebola virus, named after a river in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) in Africa, where it was first recognized. The virus is one of two members of a family of RNA viruses called the Filoviridae. There are five identified subtypes of Ebola virus. Four of the five have caused disease in humans: Ebola Zaire, Ebola Sudan, Ebola Ivory Coast and Ebola Bundibugyo. The fifth, Ebola Reston, has caused disease in nonhuman primates, but not in humans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever treated? There is no standard treatment for Ebola HF. Patients receive supportive therapy. This consists of balancing the patient s fluids and electrolytes, maintaining their oxygen status and blood pressure, and treating them for any complicating infections. How is Ebola hemorrhagic fever prevented? The prevention of Ebola HF in Africa presents many challenges. Because the identity and location of the natural reservoir of Ebola virus are unknown, there are few established primary prevention measures. If cases of the disease do appear, current social and economic conditions often favor the spread of an epidemic within health care facilities. Therefore, health care providers must be able to recognize a case of Ebola HF should one appear. They must also have the capability to perform diagnostic tests and be ready to employ practical viral hemorrhagic fever isolation precautions, or barrier nursing techniques. These techniques include the wearing of protective clothing, such as masks, gloves, gowns, and goggles; the use of infection control measures, including complete equipment sterilization; and the isolation of Ebola HF patients from contact with unprotected ... When Sergeant JT Sanborn loses one of his men from to an explosion, Sergeant First Class William James replaces the bomb defuser and joins Sanborn and Specialist Owen Eldridge. Due to Sanborn s heavy ego and James reckless methods, tensions rise and the men constantly quarrel until the three realize their similarities of being entrapped by war. The film explores the idea of soldiers as heroes and even questions the validity of this concept; various situations challenge James and his reactions do not always correspond with those of a cliché idol. Although James contradicts the idea of the typical hero, he ultimately exhibits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bigelow operates this idea entirely; she begins by proving realistic heroes also benefit from their own actions. Past films display heroes actions as only benefiting the lives of citizens as a collective whole, but Bigelow does not believe in solely choosing between the happiness of the people and the happiness of the hero. Instead, James endeavors serve his country and himself personally. Additionally, Bigelow recognizes how heroes possess flaws and how this forms a connection between heroism and humanity. James demonstrates his faults through his humane reaction to a body bomb; instead of following common protocol and destroying the young boy s corpse, he keeps the carcass intact and ultimately ends of killing another soldier due to an explosion. This scene also validates how heroes must take risks that threaten the lives of others. Audiences already understand how a typical American hero can jeopardize his own life, but the modern American hero understands he cannot sacrifice himself alone; others might face risks as well. The scene in which James and his squad oppose military orders during their final mission also supports this characteristic. Because Bigelow portrays the character of James as a ...
