Origin Of Cats Research Paper
The Origin of Cats and their Lives There once was a goddess who lived above the clouds. She was a
playful goddess who always played tricks on the other gods and goddesses. One day after playing a
trick on the wrong god, the goddess was forced to live on Earth. She didn t want to live as a human, so
she decided to create her own body. This new body of her s will be what we know now today as cats.
The goddess wanted to feel power she once had when she lived above the clouds, so she decided to
create a large beast with a golden mane. She would walk around a savannah with her head held up
high. No other animal dared to cross her path. After fourteen years in the body, the goddess became
bored. She jumped out of the body which created it s own

American Rockwell Controversy
In this research paper, I will be discussing the American illustrator Norman Rockwell, comparing his
work the Dr. Francis Schaeffer s criteria for art. I will discuss his technical mastery in the academic
principles and the message of his work as it relates to the major and minor themes. Norman Rockwell
was a well known American illustrator during the 1900s. His work was greatly admired because he
idealized the American life around him. While Rockwell himself was not religious, his work, using
great technical skill, communicated a positive message of morality found in America past.
Norman Rockwell was born in the late 1800s to a middle class family in New York. Rockwell s
interest in art began when his father would read novels by Charles ... Show more content on

From a young age, he chose to study under George Bridgeman and Thomas Fogarty who were
considered to be more traditional, and looked up to artists such as Rembrandt and Brughel. He did
intense research for his paintings, and created backgrounds for his characters and props for his
settings. Norman Rockwell had an extensive process to his work, and created detailed sketches from
live models or photographs before he would begin to paint. In the early thirties, he did go to Paris and
attempt dynamic symmetry, but quickly went back to his traditional way of painting. Alden Hatch
states that Rockwell brings to his painting not only great talent, but superb technique and artistic
knowledge, bought by years of training and unceasing study. (Hatch/Rockwell, 9) Ben Sonder states in
The Legacy of Norman Rockwell that Rockwell had remarkable eye for detail, was rigorous in his
authenticity in rendering people and things, and possessed the academic trying and technical skills of a
fine artist. (Sonder, 7) Norman Rockwell s work, created with such idealized naturalism, captured the
lives and stories of the American people and emotionally connected with his

Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians.
Tensions between the French and English speaking Canadians has been a topic issue for quite some
time now. Throughout the years it has been questioned as to wether or not the French and English
speaking Canadians have the potential ability to be together as a nation. Various votes have been held
in order to try and establish what the people of Canada feel about this situation. However, the history
of the English and French speaking Canadians prove that Canada is an impossible nation. Foreign
Policies, such as the Naval Services Bill, the Boer War and Conscription all contribute to why Canada
is an impossible nation. Political Issues involving the Constitution Act, 1982, the Referendum Act
Two, 1995 and the Clarity Act are three other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The unilateral partition of the constitution and the refusal of other provinces to back Quebec further
alienated French Canadians. Consequently, this endured the tensions
between the nation to rise even higher than they already were because it had been stated that many
provinces didn t agree with the French Canadians and that made them subsequently bitter. Many agree
that it is getting to the point that Quebec should separate from Canada. One in three Canadians support
this statement. That is where the Referendum Act Two, 1995, takes a role in the dispute over French
and English speaking Canadians. After voting on it, the English speaking Canadians prepare to keep
Quebec in Canada. Yet, 32% said that they d rather see Quebec leave. When asked how they d vote if
another referendum took place with the same question, 49% of the people voted yes, and 42% of the
people voted no. While another referendum on secession is not the wish of the people of Canada or
some of the people in Quebec, the stated intention is to get Quebec independence. The Clarity Act was
the PQ s plans to hold another referendum. They want to create a winning conditions and that is what
they intend to do. The government of Canada has the right and obligation to indicate what, in a
referendum on secession, it would consider to be a clear majority on a clear question. In conclusion it
is proved that due to the Constitution Act,

Loneliness In Animal Rescue By Dennis Lehane
No one plans to be alone. In fact, it may be said events occur which cause a person to withdraw from
an otherwise normal, engaged life. However, this doesn t stop them, if only subconsciously, from
searching for connection with any living thing. Aristotle said Man is by nature a social animal...society
is something that precedes the individual (Connection, Aristotle, Google). Whenever humans connect
they may make themselves vulnerable; but regardless of past pain, will always take another chance at
engagement. Furthermore, the deeper the connection, the more they are willing to do to keep it.
Author Dennis Lehane shows us in Animal Rescue how loneliness can lead to love, and in turn,
demand justice. Loneliness is a familiar concept to characters Bob and Nadia. Firstly, Bob lives alone.
He avoids all types of social interactions, due in part to the pain it s caused him in the past;
consequently, the only women that ever take interest in him are those he pays. Secondly, he walks
alone at night. While alone on these walks, he tries to forget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First is when Eric demands payment for Nadia. Bob mulls this over for a bit, shoots him and as Eric is
dying says I m sorry but you kids...You say terrible things about women. You hurt harmless dogs, I m
tired of you man (Lehane, 2009). In order to further justify his action, Bob tells Nadia He would have
just kept coming. Once someone takes something from you and you let them? They don t feel
gratitude, they just feel like you owe them more (Lehane, 2009). Second, Cassius being rescued from
death and having a good life is an act of justice. After Bob takes in the puppy, he enlists Nadia to help
him become a better dog owner, giving Cassius the fair chance he deserves. In a span of two and a half
months, Cassius went from being a nearly dead puppy abandoned in the trash, to a proud, happy dog
like any other. These are two of many examples of justice throughout the

Ceramics Scholarship Essay
Growing up I have developed interests and abilities that continue to provide me endless satisfaction
and joy: literature, creative writing, friends, and art. These things are my foundation, my fun and my
life.
Ceramics is one of my true passions. It began when I was very young and continued through a 5 week
summer program at Choate in 2016, and now at Fay as my favored art class. At Choate, I advanced
significantly in ceramics, learning and developing new clay and glazing techniques. One of the
methods I created was a marbling technique which impressed my fellow students and was used by
upper classmates for the rest of the summer. In my present ceramics class at Fay, I have worked hard
on hand building pieces, whistles, and using slabs to create boxes, vases, and tea sets. I am hoping to
get onto the Varsity Art team next year. Varsity Art is a ninth grade art class where advanced art
students are placed together to work and learn new techniques. The class focuses on sketching,

Doniger. This has helped me to be adept at writing as well. Now, literature and creative writing are
two of my favorite subjects. This past year, while working with my seventh grade teacher, Adam
Frick, I had to write a paper on my personal life and what made me unique and special. Despite my
love for writing, this was an arduous task for me. Writing about myself is more challenging sometimes
than writing about almost anything else!
Friendship is something that almost everyone needs or has. I have many friends and I am so thankful
for them. One of the most wonderful elements of my experience at Fay is the opportunity to meet
people my age, ranging from Thailand to Russia to California. I feel that true friends are extremely
important because they are there through hard times and are always there to talk to and can put a smile
on my face. Friendship is the essence of

The Figurative Language In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Raymond Carver s Cathedral (1983), uses elements such as tone, which is the author s attitude toward
a subject and style, which describes the ways that the author uses words the author s word choice,
sentence structure, figurative language, and sentence arrangement, to create a main character who
inhabits all the qualities of an antihero, in order to establish his ignorance towards a blind man whom
he reluctantly welcomes into his home. Carver initially presents the husband, who is also the narrator,
as a jealous, pity less man who is insecure in his relationship with his wife. The initial tone of the
story starts off as jarring and very insensitive, where the husband makes prejudice assumptions about
the blind man and his life. Carver develops the story and his character progression through crafty
language and a shift in tones throughout the length of the story that drastically changes the entire
feeling of the story. Cathedral shows the development of a narrator who has been placed in what
seems, at first to be an awkward situation which ends up, instead, being a moment of true revelation.
Carver depicts the story in a rather strident tone, making the narrator, appear as the antihero, though
some may view his character as somewhat humorous, and straightforward, his tone is initially very
harsh and ignorant. Carver said himself that the narrator albeit having many prejudices against blind
people, he changes; he grows out of those narrow minded ways. The story follows the lives of three
main characters; the narrator who lacks a name, his wife and his wife s blind friend, Robert. The
narrator is initially openly critical and uneducated towards the blind man and his perception of the
world, but towards the end of the story we see him becoming more accepting of the man whom he
once saw as strange and even pathetic for not ever having seen his wife who died of cancer, he says, I
m imagining now her last thought maybe this: that he never even knew what she looked like, and she
on an express to the grave. Robert was left with a small insurance policy and half of a twenty peso
Mexican coin. The other half of the coin went into the box with her. Pathetic. (168) The story s style
itself is told in a very

Semiotic Deconstruction Analysis Of Calvin Klein Jeans
Calvin Klein is an American multinational fashion company founded in 1968. Since their inception,
they have always been known as a top end designer brand, branching out to related clothing markets.
Calvin Klein is notorious with creating brands within their chosen product. For example Calvin Klein
Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear s are brands in themselves. However they have also branched out
into other related markets providing products such fragrances, sportswear, watches and jewellery.
Calvin Klein unlike contemporary top end brand designer have been very controversial in their past
effort to market their brand. For example in 2010, Calvin Klein released an advert in an effort to bring
attention to Calvin Klein Jeans, however it was viewed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However prior to this it is important to discuss the fact that we are now living in an era of an attention
economy. In today s age, consumers are overwhelmed by the paradox of choice so many choices to
make, and no easy way to distinguish among the offerings (Davenport, Harris 2009). Furthermore,
since consumers are bombarded with advert offering its important to avail of whatever attention a
brand gets. Thus an attention economy is an approach of management that treat human attention as
scare resources and applies an economic theory to make use of that attention; hence the ability of the
brand to channel attention creates great value. A semiotic description is consequently a vital means by
which we might begin to understand how an image captivates our imaginations. The founder of
modern linguistics, Ferdinand de Saussure, argued that at one point in time language would be part of
a comprehensive science of signs, which would study the production of meaning (Culler, 2001). In
other words, the appeal of images comes through the stories or meanings that are being depicted,
which eventually leads to an emotion or experience being felt by people in an attention economy. To
greater understand a semiotic analysis I will now provide an in depth look into my Calvin Klein watch
advert. To display the theory behind my advert I will be exploring the use of denotations, connotations
found in my advert. As well as describing various rhetorical styles

Zayed- Man Who Built A Nation
As a matter of fact, I have chosen a book titled Zayed Man Who Built A Nation . because I am
attracted by its title. The book that includes 734 pages, covered all details about the life of late Sheikh
Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. I always influenced by the president of Emirates Arab behavior the
founding father of the EAU, and those who have escorted him throughout his long life. The book
comprises the challenges that Sheikh Zayed confronted since 1971 until his death in 2004. My interest
is to illustrate the exclusive accomplishments of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan a Bedouin who
lived in the desert and a leader of his people and for the good of the world. The book of Zayed: Man
Who Built a Nation was written by Graeme H. Wilson. (2013).
In the first place, the book mentioned that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was born in 1912 on
the poor isolated and largely ignored Trucial Coast. He was the youngest of the four sons, his father.
As a member of the ruling class, his childhood could be considered to be relatively privileged, but it
was also one scarred by the difficulties of the era. The tragic death of his father, regional economic
collapse and difficult political conditions meant that it was a hard, uncertain life. Sheikh Zayed
emerged through this with a reputation as a leader of note. While his brother, Sheikh Shakhbout, was
Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed served as the Wali of Al Ain, a period in which he revived the
economy of the area and became famous

Comparing Aristotle s 8
Now the question is what values should one have to rule, what makes them qualified compared to
others. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be
better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to
break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the
honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. There is an oligarchy, ruled by a
man driven by his necessary appetites. Democracy, in which the man is controlled by unnecessary
appetites. And finally there is tyranny, which the man is driven by unlawful appetites. Socrates
towards the end of book 8 break down how all these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone
who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant
because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless,
criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an
example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in
any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is
that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on
guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the
day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is
not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones,
men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him
toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in
society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The
father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable.

Classic Greek Philosophy
The downfall of Greece s Mycenaean period was thought to have begun from internal civil turmoils
that led to an unstable government. The weakened government left the country vulnerable to foreign
mariners who took advantage, invaded, and destroyed much of the country.
2. Describe Classic Greek Philosophy.
Classic Greek Philosophy is largely based on the ideologies of Socrates and those who supported and
added on to his ideas, such as Plato and Aristotle. Rather than believing that the world was created by
one or many gods, Socrates and other Greeks relied on observable evidence, scientific reasoning, and
realistic thoughts to explain the natural processes of the world.
3. What was the social organization of the Hellenistic Kingdoms?
During the Hellenistic period, Greek culture was widespread across the Mediterranean. After the death
of Alexander the Great, the Hellenistic empire broke up into kingdoms and were ruled by kings. The
Hellenistic kingdoms retained much of the Greek s philosophy, science, literature, and art. The
kingdoms administered cosmopolitan societies, interacted frequently with people from Greece to
India, and integrated the economies and societies of far away regions by facilitating trade.

Philosophy? (1/3)
Hellenistic philosophers believed that a single god ruled the entire universe, whereas Greek
philosophers believed that gods did not attribute to the

American Policy In Graham Greene s The Quiet American
Through its critical depiction of American policy in the conflict between the Viet Minh and Southern
Vietnam, Graham Greene s The Quiet American suggests that journalist Thomas Fowler s perspective
of foreign non intervention in Vietnamese affairs is justified because Fowler understands the
discomfort and struggles Vietnamese citizens face first hand while his rival, Alden Pyle, refuses to
allow his experiences change his firm beliefs in democracy. Pyle, an American working with the
Economic Aid Mission, is an ardent believer in the virtue and necessary action of the American

As he perceives the individuals and nations only as they conform to his, and York Harding s, belief,

ramifications to the Vietnamese. Greene allegorically depicts Pyle as America and its ideology
containment is a responsibility Americans have for the rest of the world. As he did not spend any time

Brian agrees with that statement. He thinks society is terrible. He doesn t like how people easily judge

The Common Core State Standards Essay
In 2009 the Common Core State Standards, or CCSS, was initiated, and since then has become a large
part of education today. News shows in multiple states have shown students protesting these new
standards by skipping classes and school all together. These actions obviously show their refusal to
work with the new standards. While there are many teachers who are happy with these standards,
students still need to be convinced, and teachers can help this by supporting Common Core State
Standards. This in turn may help students understand their subjects better, and give teachers a more
attentive and active class. With CCSS being present in 2016 in most states it is of relevance to take it
in to consideration that it will be around for a while. In years to come, CCSS may become the
standards in all states. In order to ensure that there are no refusals to work with these standards,
administration and faculty in high schools across the United States should find a way to accommodate
these new common core state standards. This can be done through reassuring individual teachers that
they are able to teach the new standards in ways that are easy for them, showing different ways to help
students achieve a higher order of thinking, and offer a better way to connect students previous
knowledge to knowledge they are currently receiving.
Each of the news ways stated in the previous paragraph can help to alleviate any concerns parents and
teachers may have about how students and education

Lord Of The Flies Man Vs Society Analysis
Lord of the Flies Man vs Society, Man vs Man, and Man vs nature Illustrate Humanity
The Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a novel where man is fending for survival. Boys are
aground on an island at the time of a war. The two main characters Jack and Ralph, who represent
civilisation and barbarism, have a strong conflict. This has an effect on the rest of the boys throughout
the book. All of the boys slowly turn into savages further into the story. Close to the end of the book
Jack states And the conch doesn t count at this end of the island. pg. 186 When Jack says this, it
represents that he does not want rules. Jack is a savage and he refuses to be civil and organized. In the
novel, The lord of the Flies, by William Golding the conflict man vs. society, man vs. man, and man
vs. nature illustrate humanity. One major conflict in The Lord of the Flies is man vs. society. Ralph is
good for the island society because he concluded there need to be rules and order so that the boys stay
balanced and are concentrated on getting recaptured. The rules! Shouted Ralph You re breaking the
rules! pg. 130 Ralph is fighting for civilization, he is trying to make everything is coordinated, all he
wants is for all of them to get rescued. Society need rules in order to be civil, because if everyone was
not civil, the world would be turbulent. Ralph is the leader of the tribe . When Jack separated from the
group and made his own tribe it all became crazy. Jack s group was chaotic; however, they did know
how to hunt and they had the ability to start a fire because of Piggy s specs. One boy states, We did
everything adults would do, what went wrong (Golding). When boys from Ralph s tribe decided to
leave and start their own clan then everything started becoming chaotic. If they all would have stayed
together they would have had trouble getting along but at least it wouldn t be hectic. Ralph did the
best he could trying to keep everyone from going insane. Ralph represents humanity, and jack
represents savagery.
Piggy has an external conflict with jack in the novel. Jack is bully s piggy; therefore, piggy has a

How Modern Myths Affect Society
Modern Myths For the past 6 weeks we have learned about modern myths and how they affect society
in our everyday lives. In this paper you will see the topics that we focused on and what we learned of
how these challenges impose on our societies. The first myth that we all know is society s definition of
image. Every day millions of people in society look in the mirror and hate what they see. Many starve
themselves get plastic surgery cake on layer of makeup just too try to accept themselves. The reason
we do this is because of the picture that that media and society shows us. We think that if we don t
look like the people in the magazine s with everything perfect then we are not good enough and feel
like we need to change ourselves to be accepted. People spend thousands of dollars on makeup
different clothes and other thing to try and make us be more like the picture perfect person and it is
wrong. Body dysmorphia is a condition when a person who will never accept their body for what it is.
More than 200,000 cases of it are found in society every year. It is most common in ages between 14
41. People with this condition will take huge steps to change because they will never accept their body
for how it is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sharia Law And Islamic Law
Sharia, also called Sharia Law or Islamic Law, is a religious law forming part of the Islamic tradition,
and it is derived from the religious precepts of Islam. Despite of the fact that Sharia oppresses women
and restrict their human rights, a lot of Muslims still think of Sharia very positively. In order to know
why, one needs to know and understand the basic law concepts and go specifically into the
characteristics and factors or the Sharia Law. Before going onto the Sharia, one needs to know and
understand the law concepts. First, all societies and religions contain a legal system. Unless any law or

Sharia, also called Sharia Law or Islamic Law, is a religious law forming part of the Islamic tradition,
and it came from the religious precepts of Islam. Sharia is often portrayed as a medieval legal system
used by religious zealots to oppress women and deny human rights for Muslims and non Muslims
alike. (Esposito, 40) Islamic law in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, and the Taliban s
Afghanistan has required to restrict women s rights.
Regardless of this negative characteristic of Sharia, why do so many Muslims regard Sharia so
positively and think of it as central to their faith? One of the reasons is that Sharia has functioned as a
positive source of guidance, a law whose principles and values have provided a moral compass for

The reason they want Sharia so much is much easier to understand if one realizes that many Muslims
across the world concerns much about how modern secularism has challenged faith and family values.
Muslims see secularism as undermining personal and public morality, weakening marriage as an
institution, and leading to rampant divorce, sexual promiscuity, dysfunctional families, and alcohol
and drug abuse. (Esposito, 41)
Now we can go specifically into Sharia Law, which is the foundation of religious politics. There are
two categories of Sharia law that we can break down to. They are

Lace Up Your Shoes Essay
Quick! Look at your shoes. If your shoes have laces, they might be tied wrong. In fact, about 50% of
Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their shoes. If
your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to prevent them
from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way.
About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events and
races mostly 5K s. Six months into my new hobby, I decided I was a real runner and because I was a
real runner, I needed to subscribe to a real running magazine. It s a well known fact that every diehard
runner has to subscribe to a running magazine of some sort. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

First you were shown how to take one lace and pass it under the other. After reading this, it dawned on
me that most of us
were taught how to tie our shoes when we were four or five years old. Our parents or siblings taught
us, but didn t necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don t worry. It only takes
a minor tweak to tie the right knot a Reef Knot. All shoelace knots start the same; laces crossed over
under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same direction that you
crossed the laces, you will end up with a Granny Knot. A Granny Knot has an unbalanced bow, e.g.,
the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it s perfectly inline with the shoe (see illustration
below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots, granny knotters are the
people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the people whose shoes come
untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third base heading for home plate
in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his shoes in the middle of the race.
Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from coming untied. This works until its time
to untie the knot, and we all know how hard it can be to untie a double knot, especially with cold
hands.
The other 50% are the people who tie their shoes the right way using a

The Pros And Cons Of Being Against Open Marriage
Reasons why everyone should be against open marriage is because you married the person that you
wanted to love and spend the rest of your life with. You are breaking the marital vows. When marrying
someone you are making a commitment to be loyal. According to J.B. Chachila, What we commit to
be not just to take on that person, to uphold that person s dream, and to meet that person s needs. We
actually commit to becoming one that person. When people have a open marriage is when one
companion breaks the pre established rules of marriage. Open marriages show that your love and
commitment should be questioned because why marry someone when all they want to do is go out and
do things with other people while married. If two people are perfect for each other than they shouldn t
be in an open marriage because they are together because they are supposedly perfect for each other. If
you aren t happy with the person you are currently married to then what was the point of marrying
them in the first place. Before you are officially you say special marital vows to each other to promise
that you be there for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. According to Romans 7:3,
Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive.
But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an
adulteress. The reason everyone says vows is because they are supposed to show a public

My Reflection On My Life
I would like to think that through all trails and heartache I will always point my focus toward God, but
I do not know what my future holds. No matter what is happening I want to understand that I have a
friend, someone on my side, who wishes that I succeed and already has planned my life. Still, I always
worry that when my life is no longer in a state of ease and only academic stress plagues my mind, I
won t find the same sunlit joy and steadfast love in God that I do when my life has minimal

In fifth grade my fear of being trapped became too strong for me to handle on my own. I hated being
stuck in a room full of people with no way out. Sitting in a chair at a desk may as well have been a jail
sell to my ten year old self. I would do anything not to be imprisoned in a classroom with the evil
teacher who plotted my mental demise into her detailed lesson plans each night. I had panic attacks at
night when I looked at the school day which daunted my near future, and I would kick and cry in first
terror, then rage as we pulled onto the black asphalt which reeked of freedoms death. Planning on
being like every other child was worthless at this point. Through this time, though it seemed it would
never end, I learned incredible values. I planned to never go to sleepovers like the typical ten year old,
go on a date as was common for teenagers, or even go to college as the rest of the world did. While
my plans were shattered, God s plans were just beginning. Nonetheless, before He could make
changes in my life, He had to teach me a lesson in my purpose on this earth. My purpose is not to
follow my idea of how my life should go, rather it is to Glorify Him, do His will and remember I am
His.

The Use Of Drug Induced Gingival Overgrowth
3.1 Subtitle: Introduction
Gingival enlargement is the overgrowth of gingiva characterized by an expansion and accumulation of
the connective tissue with occasional presence of increased number of cells.
Drug induced gingival overgrowth is known as an adverse effect with three types of drug:
 Phenytoin, an antiepileptic;
 Cyclosporine A, an immunosuppressant; and
 Calcium channel blockers, such as dihydropyridines (nifedipine), diltiazem, and verapamil, which
are widely prescribed for the treatment of various cardiovascular diseases.
 This is characterized by an accumulation of extracellular matrix within the gingival connective
tissue, particularly the collagenous component, with various degrees of chronic inflammatory
inflammation. (Yamasaki, 1987)
 It remains unknown why drugs with such different pharmacological actions induce similar gingival
overgrowth.
 The genetically determined capacity of the host to deal metabolically with chronically administered
drugs, the responsiveness of gingival tissue to the drugs, and preexisting gingival condition, including
inflammation may, differ among individuals.
 Although the pathology of drug induced gingival overgrowth is not definitively known
 These disorders seem to be induced through the disruption of the homeostasis of collagen synthesis
and degradation in gingival connective tissues.

The Rise Of The Chinese Revolution
Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will shake the world. This statement was once said by Napoleon
Bonaparte, a French military and political leader, indicating that China was a resting giant. During the
past decades, China had lacked development on some aspects such as governance and it seemed that
its movement were backwards. Corruptions, injustices, lack of efficiency and productivity; these are
the objects and reasons that hindered China from growing and being united. There had been an
abundant number of revolts, wars and uprisings that took place in China during its revolution years
and the product of these can be classified as positive or negative outcome depending on one s point of
view. The Chinese revolutionaries made a gigantic impact on their history and they have proven that
the power of the people is stronger than the people in power. This paper presents an overview of the
circumstances after the revolution took place, the abolishment of the imperial China, the rise of the
Republic and the conflict between the Nationalist and Communist Party.
The main discussion of the topics will be started by a brief discussion during the late Qing dynasty.
The revolutionaries, led by Sun Yatsen and Huang xing revolted against the Qing due to the endless
corruption and its efficiency as an empire. One of the uprising was the Wuchang Uprising, it took
place on 10 October 1911 in Hubei province. The southern provinces subsequently declared their

You meet the nicest people on a Honda, to combat the negative image associated with the sport.
Yamaha starting selling motorcycles in the United States during 1960; Suzuki followed in 1963; and

Sleepy Hollow Comparison Essay
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is short story of speculative fiction written by Washington Irving,
published in 1820. It follows the journey of Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones in their attempt to win
over Katrina Van Tassel. Many adaptions have been made of Irving s original story with one of the
most known being Sleepy Hollow a 1999 American horror film directed by Tim Burton. The movie
follows a different but similar plot to the original story with the murders of the headless horseman
being the main focus of the movie. In both versions it can be clearly seen how the setting has a huge
impact on all aspects of the book and film particularly the themes, values and characterisation.

One of the main values looked at in Irving s short story is the difference between the natural and
supernatural. There is a huge contrast throughout the story of this and this mainly has to do with the
setting. Irving looks at the natural setting of Sleepy Hollow compared to the supernatural thoughts of
the residents. ... Or tapping of a woodpecker, is almost the only sound that every breaks in upon the
uniform of tranquillity. (Irving, 1820) and ... That holds a spell over the minds of the good people.
(Irving, 1820) are both two quotes that show the contrast between the natural and supernatural. With
out both aspects it would change dramatically the setting, characters and plot of the story. Similarly to
the themes in Burton s adaption of Sleepy Hollow the values are much darker and eerie compared with
those in Irving s original. One thing both versions have in common is the value of the difference
between supernatural and natural. Although it is looked at in a different way Burton still has it
reoccurring throughout the film. In the film the whole idea and the actually reality of the headless
horseman is all very supernatural and not very realistic although the rest of the movie has more of a
natural feel to it. The setting is used to show the supernatural and natural values, as without the
particular atmosphere that Burton has created it would not come across of

The Decision Of The Court Essay
Dear. Ms Stewart, it is in the best interest of the country, and the Constitution that I urge you to not
allow for a set of specific guidelines to be put in place to tell the Justices of the Court, how to interpret
the Constitution. With the decision of Marbury v. Madison in 1803 the Court established its power of
Judicial review(Judicial Learning Center, Web insert hyperlink), and it is up to the Justices to decide
when and how the Constitution will be interpreted. This memo will address the following issues with
creating guidelines for Justices in the Supreme Court The first problem with the idea of the set of
guidelines on how to interpret the constitution is the fact that it undermines the relationship between
the Constitution and the Court. Chief Justice Hughes once said the job of the court is to maintain a
living Constitution whose broad provisions are continually applied to complicated new situations (U.S
Supreme Court Hughes). This means that the Court uses the Constitution as a way to interpret new
laws, and cases that are appealed all the way up to the court. Nevertheless, it must be noted that Chief
Justice states that the Court must maintain a living Constitution . This word choice is intentional and
deliberate. Unlike a typical Constitution that only has the merit of what is explicitly stated on the
document, a living constitution is a document changes over time, and adapts to new circumstances,
without being formally amended(Strauss, 2010, Web).

Framing The Truth Analysis
Framing The Truth: Analyzing News Stories
When presenting news stories, framing is an essential part of telling a factual story. While pure
objectivity is impossible, certain techniques journalist acquire can provide for a more unbiased article.
Delving into a more specific case study regarding the different aspects of framing, the two articles
presented come from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and The Guardian. The topic of both articles
concern the cancellation of the UC Berkeley Milo Yiannopoulos event and the protests/riots that

The Guardian hooks the readers by writing, Violence flares after group of anti fascist activists shoot
fireworks at venue where the controversial Breitbart editor was due to give a talk. Each word provides
greater insight into what is perceived as salient throughout the article. The word flares uses the
rhetorical structure of depictions when describing the violence that occurred at the event. Flares not
only illustrates a crowd of riled up people, but the police weapons used to disperse the crowds. Flares
also captivates the later essence of the article when it mentions the light pole that had been set aflame
burned itself out . Continuing to analyze the lead, The Guardian uses an abundance of designators to
frame competition and conflict among Yiannopoulos and the protestors/rioters. It reflects villainous
undertones when describing Yiannopoulos as controversial and an internet troll . Additionally,
protesters are labeled as boisterous but peaceful while carrying glittering flags . The particular use of
glittering flags , which could also be denoted as a depictor, accentuates the peacefulness of the
protesters because of reader s tendency to connect glittering with other positive terms such as beaming

L-Asparagine Lab Report
The concentrations of L arginine and L asparagine were measured in the range 0.110 mM. Data was
collected from the fluorescence intensity of the Arg and Asn sensing membranes at the two emission
wavelengths (λem = 565 and 625 nm) at an excitation wavelength of 460 nm (λex = 460 nm). The

Molly Moony Case Study
Introduction
Evidence based practice is the foundation of safe and effective patient centered care. In a medical
surgical environment a holistic knowledge, understanding and approach to patient care is crucial.
During this essay I will demonstrate my knowledge of these principles through a case study analysis
involving a patient named Molly Moony. This analysis will discuss Molly s injury of a fractured neck
of femur, her surgical procedure, the anatomy and physiology of the hip joint, her immediate
postoperative care, assessments that should be performed upon returning to the ward and her ongoing
care and discharge planning.
Anatomy and Physiology of The Hip Joint
Molly Moony has fallen in her home resulting in a fractured neck of femur. The neck of femur is one
of the main components found within the hip joint, and as it will be made apparent, Molly s age,
mobility and current conditions can impact the normal structure, function and healing process of her ...

The outermost layer is a membrane called periosteum, a fibrous connective tissue responsible for
protection, connected to fibers called Sharpey s (perforating) fibers linking to the bone (Marieb,
2012). The external surface at the end of the bone is covered with articular cartilage, reducing joint
friction (Marieb, 2012). Within the bone is a thin layer of compact bone called epiphyses,
encompassing spongy bone and yellow marrow (Marieb, 2012). Bones possess five important
functions including, support, protection, movement, storage and blood cell formation (Marieb, 2012).
Bones protect and support the body by acting as a rigid framework surrounding delicate organs and
tolerating enormous pressure when weight bearing and moving (Marieb, 2012). Bones are also
responsible for storing fat, minerals and producing blood cells (hematopoiesis) within the cavities of
bone marrow (McCance Huether, 2014) (Marieb,

Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And Ancient Athens
A Comparison of Societies in Ancient Egypt and Periclean Athens
Midterm Essay Maureen Cairns
In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first
mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has a stable food supply, social
levels and classes, specialization of labor, a system of government, and a highly developed culture.
Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit into these parameters. In this essay we will explore
social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both
ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or
inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with
priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who
worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22).
According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and
was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles
were next in the hierarchy, responsible for making local laws. Priests came next, and were responsible
for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only
ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage

Essay on The Aftermath for Children in Child Labor
Introduction It is estimated that 186 million kids are currently engaged in child labor. around (85
million) of these children have been defined to work in dangerous conditions. http://www.ilo.org
These children must endure things that harm them in so many ways both physically and mentally.
These can lead to life time problems or even death. More effort! According to
http://www.continuetolearn.uiowa.edu Child labor laws around the world are often not enforced many
state governments allocate few resources to enforcing child labor laws. The government lacks the right
laws to protect these children from this labor. Neither do they even implement the ones they have right
now. Inadequate/poor enforcement of legislation and policies to ... Show more content on

http://www.continuetolearn.uiowa.edu Physical Effects Child labor presents many fatal issues as well.
Children in most cases will have to live with it for the rest of their lifes (same with mental effects).
They can lose vital organs and their body can be in mutilated condition. Diseases can also be picked
up along the way in some kinds of labour including child prostitution (STI), underground
mines/welding causing respiratory diseases and lead poison etc. These children can also end up with
illnesses that sometimes can not be treated. Which can end up resulting in their own death. Children
rather than adults Children are usually prefered over adults for a couple of reasons: One, children can
be more easily manipulated than adults. Two, they are more willing to do the work. But children are
more susceptible to illness or disease rather than adults are.
http://www.ilo.org/ipec/facts/WorstFormsofChildLabour/Hazardouschildlabour/lang en/index.htm
Wrapping It all up Currently across the globe many countries allow child labor to inhabit their country.
Many organizations are fighting against this so that these children can get an education and live a safe
and healthy life style. The International Labor Organization(ILO)http://www.ilo.org for example
promotes jobs and protects victims of child labor in the entire world in countries with extremely high
child labourers: Eritrea, Somalia, DR Congo, Myanmar, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Zimbabwe

Justice And Punishment In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
Warning! A runaway robber has just been caught in the middle of the highway. Policemen are
investigating the case and considering if they should punish the criminal or let him go. How will
prison affect the person? Will he benefit from time in prison or will it only make him worse? The
theme of justice and punishment is explored in real life and books. Life in prison may have some
positive influences, but to a large extent it is not successful in changing someone s mindset. In the
book In Cold Blood , Truman Capote uses syntax, diction, and a variety of details to support the theme
that justice and punishment is not effective. Truman Capote efficiently uses syntax to support the
theme that punishment is ineffective. Perry s first time in prison shows how his horrendous treatment
caused him to become a harmful person. Capote states, I was sentenced to 5 to 10 years for grand
larceny, burglary, and jailbreak. I felt I was very unjustly dealt with. I became very bitter while I was
in prison. Upon my release I worked for a while in Nevada and Idaho went to las Vegas and continued
to Kansas where got into the situation I m in now. Not time for more (276). The use of short sentences
such as I became very bitter while I was in prison makes it stand out and is more important. Also,
starting off with I in all of the sentence is a form of parallelism. The first person point of view shows
all of Perry s feelings in this scene. The short sentences and the first person point of

Summary Of Education By C. S. Lewis
Education must have a goal with a story behind it. This story must be one that tells about the creation
by God and envisions a future in the kingdom of heaven. In addition the story constructs ideals, gives
unfaltering rules of conduct, and provides the one true source of power. Above all, the story must
present an awareness of purpose. This explanation of achieving a story was the author s goal and they
attained it in a book that was enjoyable and easy to read and understand. Of personal interest was the
chapter on C.S. Lewis and his methods of studying and teaching. He is one of my favorite authors, and
my interest never waivered as I read that chapter. They explained that Lewis was primarily concerned

Social Security And The Great Depression
Social Security
Alfred Malone
Sociology
Mrs. Joy Branch
14 November 2014
Social security was created in response to the Great Depression. The purpose of it is to protect aged
and disabled persons from illness expenses, to give children a chance to grow up healthy and secure,
keep families together, and to augment the material needs of individuals and families. The Social
Security Act was first passed in 1935 and later amended in 1956 to provide disability benefits. Some
programs included under the Social Security Act are: retirement insurance, survivor s insurance,
disability insurance, and some public assistance and welfare services. The Social Security program is
meant to provide benefits, social security numbers, and generate its own finances. The first Social
Security Numbers(SSN) were first issued in 1936. These cards each all have their own number used to
track the earning histories of U.S. Workers. The cards also were used to determine Social Security
benefit entitlement and benefit levels. The use of the SSN later expanded in terms of use. As of
December2008, the Social Security Administration (SSA) had issued over 450 million original SSNs,
and nearly every legal resident of the United States had one (Carolyn Puckett). The SSN led to what is
mostly used today to identify and gather information on a person. This method is particularly used
when applying for jobs. The largest source of income for most of today s elderly comes from social

Patrick Henry Accomplishments
Patrick Henry was the first and sixth governor of Virginia.
He grew up in Studley, the family farm, in Hanover County, Virginia.
He had strong feelings about freedom. Give me liberty, or give me death!
His parents gave him a business to run, but he shortly bankrupted it. He took the bar exam, passed,
and became a lawyer. He lived from May 29, 1736, to June 6, 1799. He was elected to Virginia House
of Burgesses in 1765, admitted to the Bar of the General Court in Virginia in 1769, elected to the
Continental Congress in 1774, Virginia Militia Leader in 1775 and Governor of Virginia, 1776 1778,
1784.
Patrick Henry created Stamp Act Revolution, effectively starting Revolutionary War. He governed the
largest state in the US the first and sixth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He made the Stamp Acts, which perturbed the British. They then sent more troops over and started the
war. Patrick Henry faced challenges before he became successful. At the age of 15, Henry ran a store
for his father. The business didn t last, and Henry had his first taste of failure. He married Sarah
Shelton, the daughter of a local innkeeper, in 1754. As part of his wife s dowry, Henry received some
farm land. He tried growing tobacco there for three years, but he didn t fare well in this new venture
either. In 1757, Henry and his wife lost their farmhouse to a fire. He then managed a tavern for his
father in law and studied to be a lawyer. In 1760, he secured his law license. For my part, whatever
anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide
for it. Patrick Henry was motivated by the people that suffered from British taxation. He wouldn t
have been motivated to end taxation if no one was being taxed.
Patrick Henry s main accomplishment impacted America because it was the turning point to war.
Without the war, we wouldn t have been independant. Patrick Henry s accomplishment had a great
impact. Without it, we would not be a free country. It politically started the Revolutionary War. The
most important thing that we should remember about Patrick Henry is his desire to end British
taxation.

  • 3. American Rockwell Controversy In this research paper, I will be discussing the American illustrator Norman Rockwell, comparing his work the Dr. Francis Schaeffer s criteria for art. I will discuss his technical mastery in the academic principles and the message of his work as it relates to the major and minor themes. Norman Rockwell was a well known American illustrator during the 1900s. His work was greatly admired because he idealized the American life around him. While Rockwell himself was not religious, his work, using great technical skill, communicated a positive message of morality found in America past. Norman Rockwell was born in the late 1800s to a middle class family in New York. Rockwell s interest in art began when his father would read novels by Charles ... Norman Rockwell had an extensive process to his work, and created detailed sketches from live models or photographs before he would begin to paint. In the early thirties, he did go to Paris and attempt dynamic symmetry, but quickly went back to his traditional way of painting. Alden Hatch states that Rockwell brings to his painting not only great talent, but superb technique and artistic knowledge, bought by years of training and unceasing study. Throughout the years it has been questioned as to wether or not the French and English speaking Canadians have the potential ability to be together as a nation. Various votes have been held in order to try and establish what the people of Canada feel about this situation. However, the history of the English and French speaking Canadians prove that Canada is an impossible nation. Foreign Policies, such as the Naval Services Bill, the Boer War and Conscription all contribute to why Canada is an impossible nation. The unilateral partition of the constitution and the refusal of other provinces to back Quebec further alienated French Canadians. Consequently, this endured the tensions between the nation to rise even higher than they already were because it had been stated that many provinces didn t agree with the French Canadians and that made them subsequently bitter. Many agree that it is getting to the point that Quebec should separate from Canada. One in three Canadians support this statement. That is where the Referendum Act Two, 1995, takes a role in the dispute over French and English speaking Canadians. After voting on it, the English speaking Canadians prepare to keep Quebec in Canada. Yet, 32% said that they d rather see Quebec leave. When asked how they d vote if another referendum took place with the same question, 49% of the people voted yes, and 42% of the people voted no. While another referendum on secession is not the wish of the people of Canada or some of the people in Quebec, the stated intention is to get Quebec independence. The Clarity Act was the PQ s plans to hold another referendum. They want to create a winning conditions and that is what they intend to do. The government of Canada has the right and obligation to indicate what, in a referendum on secession, it would consider to be a clear majority on a clear question. • 7. Loneliness In Animal Rescue By Dennis Lehane No one plans to be alone. In fact, it may be said events occur which cause a person to withdraw from an otherwise normal, engaged life. However, this doesn t stop them, if only subconsciously, from searching for connection with any living thing. Aristotle said Man is by nature a social animal...society is something that precedes the individual (Connection, Aristotle, Google). Whenever humans connect they may make themselves vulnerable; but regardless of past pain, will always take another chance at engagement. Furthermore, the deeper the connection, the more they are willing to do to keep it. Author Dennis Lehane shows us in Animal Rescue how loneliness can lead to love, and in turn, demand justice. Loneliness is a familiar concept to characters Bob and Nadia. Firstly, Bob lives alone. He avoids all types of social interactions, due in part to the pain it s caused him in the past; consequently, the only women that ever take interest in him are those he pays. In order to further justify his action, Bob tells Nadia He would have just kept coming. Once someone takes something from you and you let them? They don t feel gratitude, they just feel like you owe them more (Lehane, 2009). Second, Cassius being rescued from death and having a good life is an act of justice. After Bob takes in the puppy, he enlists Nadia to help him become a better dog owner, giving Cassius the fair chance he deserves. In a span of two and a half months, Cassius went from being a nearly dead puppy abandoned in the trash, to a proud, happy dog like any other. These things are my foundation, my fun and my life. Ceramics is one of my true passions. It began when I was very young and continued through a 5 week summer program at Choate in 2016, and now at Fay as my favored art class. At Choate, I advanced significantly in ceramics, learning and developing new clay and glazing techniques. One of the methods I created was a marbling technique which impressed my fellow students and was used by upper classmates for the rest of the summer. In my present ceramics class at Fay, I have worked hard on hand building pieces, whistles, and using slabs to create boxes, vases, and tea sets. • 9. The Figurative Language In Raymond Carver s Cathedral Raymond Carver s Cathedral (1983), uses elements such as tone, which is the author s attitude toward a subject and style, which describes the ways that the author uses words the author s word choice, sentence structure, figurative language, and sentence arrangement, to create a main character who inhabits all the qualities of an antihero, in order to establish his ignorance towards a blind man whom he reluctantly welcomes into his home. Carver initially presents the husband, who is also the narrator, as a jealous, pity less man who is insecure in his relationship with his wife. The initial tone of the story starts off as jarring and very insensitive, where the husband makes prejudice assumptions about the blind man and his life. Carver develops the story and his character progression through crafty language and a shift in tones throughout the length of the story that drastically changes the entire feeling of the story. Cathedral shows the development of a narrator who has been placed in what seems, at first to be an awkward situation which ends up, instead, being a moment of true revelation. Carver depicts the story in a rather strident tone, making the narrator, appear as the antihero, though some may view his character as somewhat humorous, and straightforward, his tone is initially very harsh and ignorant. Carver said himself that the narrator albeit having many prejudices against blind people, he changes; he grows out of those narrow minded ways. The story follows the lives of three main characters; the narrator who lacks a name, his wife and his wife s blind friend, Robert. The narrator is initially openly critical and uneducated towards the blind man and his perception of the world, but towards the end of the story we see him becoming more accepting of the man whom he once saw as strange and even pathetic for not ever having seen his wife who died of cancer, he says, I m imagining now her last thought maybe this: that he never even knew what she looked like, and she on an express to the grave. For example Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Underwear s are brands in themselves. However prior to this it is important to discuss the fact that we are now living in an era of an attention economy. In today s age, consumers are overwhelmed by the paradox of choice so many choices to make, and no easy way to distinguish among the offerings (Davenport, Harris 2009). Furthermore, since consumers are bombarded with advert offering its important to avail of whatever attention a brand gets. Thus an attention economy is an approach of management that treat human attention as scare resources and applies an economic theory to make use of that attention; hence the ability of the brand to channel attention creates great value. A semiotic description is consequently a vital means by which we might begin to understand how an image captivates our imaginations. The founder of modern linguistics, Ferdinand de Saussure, argued that at one point in time language would be part of a comprehensive science of signs, which would study the production of meaning (Culler, 2001). In other words, the appeal of images comes through the stories or meanings that are being depicted, which eventually leads to an emotion or experience being felt by people in an attention economy. To greater understand a semiotic analysis I will now provide an in depth look into my Calvin Klein watch advert. To display the theory behind my advert I will be exploring the use of denotations, connotations found in my advert. As well as describing various rhetorical styles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book of Zayed: Man Who Built a Nation was written by Graeme H. Wilson. (2013). In the first place, the book mentioned that Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was born in 1912 on the poor isolated and largely ignored Trucial Coast. He was the youngest of the four sons, his father. As a member of the ruling class, his childhood could be considered to be relatively privileged, but it was also one scarred by the difficulties of the era. The tragic death of his father, regional economic collapse and difficult political conditions meant that it was a hard, uncertain life. Plato outlines the different aspects of government and why he believes an aristocracy would be better form of government. In book 8 Socrates starts to wrap up his depiction of a just city. He starts to break down the four unjust constitutions of the city and man. Timocracy, which is represented by the honor driven man who resembles and rules that sort of government. In book 9 Plato discusses the aspects of the tyrannical man. He mentions that the tyrants are someone who is consumed by lawless desires. One question I have is the tyrannical man destined to be a tyrant because he has a noble democratic father? These desires lead men towards ghastly, shameless, criminal actions that are particularly bad for someone in an position of power. Socrates offers an example of a lawless desire is the desire to sleep with one s mother, something that is horrible to do in any society. It is made clear that all of us have lawless desires, which is indubitably true. The proof is that these desires occasionally come out at night, in our dreams, when the rational part of us is not on guard. But only the tyrannical man allows these desires to emerge in life while he is awake during the day. Plato s description continues, the tyrannical man is the son of the democratic man. His father is not lawless, but he does indulge unnecessary desires. Just like the father, the son is exposed to drones, men with lawless desires. However the father had his own oligarchic father s thriftiness to pull him toward the middle road of democracy. This is crucial for the balance one must have to be a ruler in society. Now this son brought up on the democratic ethos, moves further toward lawlessness. The father and entire household try to win him back, but the ultimate triumph of the lawless is inevitable. Classic Greek Philosophy is largely based on the ideologies of Socrates and those who supported and added on to his ideas, such as Plato and Aristotle. News shows in multiple states have shown students protesting these new standards by skipping classes and school all together. These actions obviously show their refusal to work with the new standards. While there are many teachers who are happy with these standards, students still need to be convinced, and teachers can help this by supporting Common Core State Standards. This in turn may help students understand their subjects better, and give teachers a more attentive and active class. With CCSS being present in 2016 in most states it is of relevance to take it in to consideration that it will be around for a while. In years to come, CCSS may become the standards in all states. In order to ensure that there are no refusals to work with these standards, administration and faculty in high schools across the United States should find a way to accommodate these new common core state standards. This can be done through reassuring individual teachers that they are able to teach the new standards in ways that are easy for them, showing different ways to help students achieve a higher order of thinking, and offer a better way to connect students previous knowledge to knowledge they are currently receiving. In this paper you will see the topics that we focused on and what we learned of how these challenges impose on our societies. The first myth that we all know is society s definition of image. Every day millions of people in society look in the mirror and hate what they see. Many starve themselves get plastic surgery cake on layer of makeup just too try to accept themselves. The reason we do this is because of the picture that that media and society shows us. We think that if we don t look like the people in the magazine s with everything perfect then we are not good enough and feel like we need to change ourselves to be accepted. People spend thousands of dollars on makeup different clothes and other thing to try and make us be more like the picture perfect person and it is wrong. Sharia, also called Sharia Law or Islamic Law, is a religious law forming part of the Islamic tradition, and it came from the religious precepts of Islam. Sharia is often portrayed as a medieval legal system used by religious zealots to oppress women and deny human rights for Muslims and non Muslims alike. (Esposito, 40) Islamic law in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Sudan, and the Taliban s Afghanistan has required to restrict women s rights. Regardless of this negative characteristic of Sharia, why do so many Muslims regard Sharia so positively and think of it as central to their faith? One of the reasons is that Sharia has functioned as a positive source of guidance, a law whose principles and values have provided a moral compass for individuals and society. (Esposito, 41) The reason they want Sharia so much is much easier to understand if one realizes that many Muslims across the world concerns much about how modern secularism has challenged faith and family values. Muslims see secularism as undermining personal and public morality, weakening marriage as an institution, and leading to rampant divorce, sexual promiscuity, dysfunctional families, and alcohol and drug abuse. (Esposito, 41) Now we can go specifically into Sharia Law, which is the foundation of religious politics. There are two categories of Sharia law that we can break down to. They are ... • 21. Lace Up Your Shoes Essay Quick! Look at your shoes. If your shoes have laces, they might be tied wrong. In fact, about 50% of Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their shoes. If your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to prevent them from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way. About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events and races mostly 5K s. First you were shown how to take one lace and pass it under the other. After reading this, it dawned on me that most of us were taught how to tie our shoes when we were four or five years old. Our parents or siblings taught us, but didn t necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don t worry. It only takes a minor tweak to tie the right knot a Reef Knot. All shoelace knots start the same; laces crossed over under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same direction that you crossed the laces, you will end up with a Granny Knot. A Granny Knot has an unbalanced bow, e.g., the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it s perfectly inline with the shoe (see illustration below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots, granny knotters are the people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the people whose shoes come untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third base heading for home plate in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his shoes in the middle of the race. Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from coming untied. The Pros And Cons Of Being Against Open Marriage Reasons why everyone should be against open marriage is because you married the person that you wanted to love and spend the rest of your life with. You are breaking the marital vows. When marrying someone you are making a commitment to be loyal. According to J.B. Chachila, What we commit to be not just to take on that person, to uphold that person s dream, and to meet that person s needs. We actually commit to becoming one that person. When people have a open marriage is when one companion breaks the pre established rules of marriage. Open marriages show that your love and commitment should be questioned because why marry someone when all they want to do is go out and do things with other people while married. If two people are perfect for each other than they shouldn t be in an open marriage because they are together because they are supposedly perfect for each other. If you aren t happy with the person you are currently married to then what was the point of marrying them in the first place. Before you are officially you say special marital vows to each other to promise that you be there for better or for worse, in sickness and in health. According to Romans 7:3, Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. Drug induced gingival overgrowth is known as an adverse effect with three types of drug:  Phenytoin, an antiepileptic;  Cyclosporine A, an immunosuppressant; and  Calcium channel blockers, such as dihydropyridines (nifedipine), diltiazem, and verapamil, which are widely prescribed for the treatment of various cardiovascular diseases.  This is characterized by an accumulation of extracellular matrix within the gingival connective tissue, particularly the collagenous component, with various degrees of chronic inflammatory inflammation. (Yamasaki, 1987)  It remains unknown why drugs with such different pharmacological actions induce similar gingival overgrowth.  The genetically determined capacity of the host to deal metabolically with chronically administered drugs, the responsiveness of gingival tissue to the drugs, and preexisting gingival condition, including inflammation may, differ among individuals.  Although the pathology of drug induced gingival overgrowth is not definitively known  These disorders seem to be induced through the disruption of the homeostasis of collagen synthesis and degradation in gingival connective tissues. ... Ms Stewart, it is in the best interest of the country, and the Constitution that I urge you to not allow for a set of specific guidelines to be put in place to tell the Justices of the Court, how to interpret the Constitution. With the decision of Marbury v. Madison in 1803 the Court established its power of Judicial review(Judicial Learning Center, Web insert hyperlink), and it is up to the Justices to decide when and how the Constitution will be interpreted. This memo will address the following issues with creating guidelines for Justices in the Supreme Court The first problem with the idea of the set of guidelines on how to interpret the constitution is the fact that it undermines the relationship between the Constitution and the Court. Chief Justice Hughes once said the job of the court is to maintain a living Constitution whose broad provisions are continually applied to complicated new situations (U.S Supreme Court Hughes). This means that the Court uses the Constitution as a way to interpret new laws, and cases that are appealed all the way up to the court. Nevertheless, it must be noted that Chief Justice states that the Court must maintain a living Constitution . This word choice is intentional and deliberate. Unlike a typical Constitution that only has the merit of what is explicitly stated on the document, a living constitution is a document changes over time, and adapts to new circumstances, without being formally amended(Strauss, 2010, Web). ... • 42. Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And Ancient Athens A Comparison of Societies in Ancient Egypt and Periclean Athens Midterm Essay Maureen Cairns In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has a stable food supply, social levels and classes, specialization of labor, a system of government, and a highly developed culture. Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit into these parameters. In this essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, responsible for making local laws. Priests came next, and were responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... http://www.continuetolearn.uiowa.edu Physical Effects Child labor presents many fatal issues as well. Children in most cases will have to live with it for the rest of their lifes (same with mental effects). They can lose vital organs and their body can be in mutilated condition. Diseases can also be picked up along the way in some kinds of labour including child prostitution (STI), underground mines/welding causing respiratory diseases and lead poison etc. These children can also end up with illnesses that sometimes can not be treated. Which can end up resulting in their own death. Children rather than adults Children are usually prefered over adults for a couple of reasons: One, children can be more easily manipulated than adults. Two, they are more willing to do the work. But children are more susceptible to illness or disease rather than adults are. http://www.ilo.org/ipec/facts/WorstFormsofChildLabour/Hazardouschildlabour/lang en/index.htm Wrapping It all up Currently across the globe many countries allow child labor to inhabit their country. • 44. Justice And Punishment In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood Warning! A runaway robber has just been caught in the middle of the highway. Policemen are investigating the case and considering if they should punish the criminal or let him go. How will prison affect the person? Will he benefit from time in prison or will it only make him worse? The theme of justice and punishment is explored in real life and books. Life in prison may have some positive influences, but to a large extent it is not successful in changing someone s mindset. In the book In Cold Blood , Truman Capote uses syntax, diction, and a variety of details to support the theme that justice and punishment is not effective. Truman Capote efficiently uses syntax to support the theme that punishment is ineffective. Perry s first time in prison shows how his horrendous treatment caused him to become a harmful person. Capote states, I was sentenced to 5 to 10 years for grand larceny, burglary, and jailbreak. I felt I was very unjustly dealt with. I became very bitter while I was in prison. Upon my release I worked for a while in Nevada and Idaho went to las Vegas and continued to Kansas where got into the situation I m in now. Not time for more (276). The use of short sentences such as I became very bitter while I was in prison makes it stand out and is more important. Also, starting off with I in all of the sentence is a form of parallelism. The first person point of view shows all of Perry s feelings in this scene. The short sentences and the first person point of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Summary Of Education By C. S. Lewis Education must have a goal with a story behind it. This story must be one that tells about the creation by God and envisions a future in the kingdom of heaven. In addition the story constructs ideals, gives unfaltering rules of conduct, and provides the one true source of power. Above all, the story must present an awareness of purpose. This explanation of achieving a story was the author s goal and they attained it in a book that was enjoyable and easy to read and understand. Of personal interest was the chapter on C.S. Lewis and his methods of studying and teaching. He is one of my favorite authors, and my interest never waivered as I read that chapter. • 46. Social Security And The Great Depression Social Security Alfred Malone Sociology Mrs. Joy Branch 14 November 2014 Social security was created in response to the Great Depression. The purpose of it is to protect aged and disabled persons from illness expenses, to give children a chance to grow up healthy and secure, keep families together, and to augment the material needs of individuals and families. The Social Security Act was first passed in 1935 and later amended in 1956 to provide disability benefits. Some programs included under the Social Security Act are: retirement insurance, survivor s insurance, disability insurance, and some public assistance and welfare services. The Social Security program is meant to provide benefits, social security numbers, and generate its own finances. The first Social Security Numbers(SSN) were first issued in 1936. These cards each all have their own number used to track the earning histories of U.S. Workers. The cards also were used to determine Social Security benefit entitlement and benefit levels. The use of the SSN later expanded in terms of use. As of December2008, the Social Security Administration (SSA) had issued over 450 million original SSNs, and nearly every legal resident of the United States had one (Carolyn Puckett). The SSN led to what is mostly used today to identify and gather information on a person. This method is particularly used when applying for jobs. He made the Stamp Acts, which perturbed the British. They then sent more troops over and started the war. Patrick Henry faced challenges before he became successful. At the age of 15, Henry ran a store for his father. The business didn t last, and Henry had his first taste of failure. He married Sarah Shelton, the daughter of a local innkeeper, in 1754. As part of his wife s dowry, Henry received some farm land. He tried growing tobacco there for three years, but he didn t fare well in this new venture either. In 1757, Henry and his wife lost their farmhouse to a fire. He then managed a tavern for his father in law and studied to be a lawyer. In 1760, he secured his law license. For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it. Patrick Henry was motivated by the people that suffered from British taxation. He wouldn t have been motivated to end taxation if no one was being taxed.
