Becoming A Real Estate Investor
Many people hold on to the belief that real estate investing is a risky thing to do. Even those that
are investors will tell you it s a risky business, but if you stick with it in the long run the risk
takers will come to realize that this is the way out to be living the lives they are meant to live. It
could be that money is tight and it s putting a hold on becoming an investor or the uneasy feeling
of thinking if it all doesn t go as planned. This is a leap of assurance that will change the lives of
many that want or have been thinking about becoming a Real EstateInvestor. This will help you

The law differentiates between the investor and the homeowner because the investor has taken on
large improvements based on the previous state of affairs where the homeowner has not. This
means that the investor gained site specific assurance where the homeowner did not, even if they
seek out to maintain the zoning classification not only on their property, but on the whole
neighborhood. Hence, several courts have specifically held that neighbors have no eternally vested
rights in the perpetuation of an existing zoning classification (Stahl, Kenneth A). In most cases this
is why there are some neighborhoods around the metropolitan area where there are signs that read
My community is not for sale as a way of protesting. In a way this seems unfair for the communities
that must deal with new development within the area without having a say which makes most
neighbors somewhat aggravated with the city s decision making and the benefits it gives investors
in what they do with a property. On the other hand people need to realize the essential aspect of new
property development, this is motivation for investors to form an important part of identity to help
shape communities where the property can serve as an important focus that gives meaning to
residents within society. Therefore, it is important to note that the Property and Relative Status is
another factor that needs to be accounted for when getting in real estate investing as well as the

The Hound Of The Baskerviile By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay
RATIONALISM AND SUPERSTITION: A CRITICAL STUDY OF THE HOUND OF THE
BASKERVIILE BY SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE The book The Hound Of The Baskerville
was written in 1901. The novel was published in serial form from 1901 to 1902. It continues to
enjoy much success today and is considered by some Sherlock Holmes scholars to be Doyle s
best work. It has inspired over twenty film and television reinterpretations, made in diverse
places such as Germany, Australia, Canada, the United States, and of course, the United
Kingdom. The most recent such reinvention of this story can be seen in the BBC series
Sherlock, although this retelling very much differs from the original novel. Doyle was inspired
to write the novel when he was staying with his friend, Bertram Fletcher Robinson in 1901. He
named the character Sir Henry Baskerville after the gardener of Robinson named Harry
Baskerville. Doyle had met Robinson on a return voyage from South Africa and Robinson told
him about a legend from his home region of Devon, England. Later, Robinson showed Doyle the
moor known as Dartmoor, upon which the story is based. It is the largest open space in the
southern region of England. In a letter to his mother, Mary, Doyle commented that the moor was a
great place, very sad and wild, dotted with the dwellings of prehistoric man, huts and graves . And
this is where Doyle got his inspiration from. The atmosphere of a place uninhabited by man is
pervasive in the story and is actually different from many

The Northern Renaissance And The Spirit Of The Northern...
The Northern Renaissance began in the fifthteenth century, catalyzed by the end of the Bubonic
Plague, a commercial revolution which brought economic prosperity, and the ideas brought by
Italian artists fleeing from French invaders. Northern Europeans quickly accepted Italian art, who
combined their traditions with Italian concepts to celebrate realistic portrayals in their paintings.
The surge of creativity in Flanders, the hub of the Northern Renaissance, at the time embodied the
spirit of the Renaissance, which celebrated inventiveness, as well as exploring new ideas. Jan Van
Eyck, a Flemish painter born in the late fourteenth century, lived at the beginning of the Northern
Renaissance, in which he created many famous paintings such as the Ghent Altarpiece, The
Arnolfini Portrait, and The Madonna of Chancellor Rolin. Jan Van Eyck s training in Flanders
allowed the painter to procure important court positions, in which he embodied the creative spirit of
the Renaissance by mastering the techniques of realism and intense detail within his painting The
Madonna of Chancellor Rolin, and the Eyckian technique of oil paintinginfluenced many other
painters of the time as well as modern artists.
Jan Van Eyck trained with his brother in Flanders, where he secured high courtly positions, which
allowed him the freedom to further his mastery and worldview, embodying the Renaissance spirit.
Training with his brother, Hubert Van Eyck, allowed Jan Van Eyck to master painting. Jan and

Descriptive Essay Guide Dog
Oh, I could never do that. It would be so hard to give them up! This is something I hear everyday
as I go about my daily life. I am a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, an organization that
provides fully trained guide dogs to people who are visually impaired at no cost. It is only
through many volunteers that this is possible. And I am one of those volunteers. I volunteer about
a year of my life to train and socialize a young puppy until it is ready to to begin learning tasks
necessary to be an effective guide dog. It is one of the best things I have chosent to do, even though
it is so hard to give them up.
On July 29, 2016 I drove into the parking lot of a hotel. I felt so many emotions as we pulled up to
a lot filled with so many people with smiles on their faces. I was picking up my fourth puppy to
raise to someday be a guide dog for somebody visually impaired. I had been assigned a puppy,
but I did not know his name. All I had been told was that he was a male yellow lab, and his name
started with the letter Y. Naturally, I had put together a list of over 100 name possibilities, and I
anxiously awaited to hear what my companion for the next year would be called. Finally, the
moment arrived when a small yellow ball emerged from the doors of the puppy truck, a large van
used to transport puppies. I could not contain my excitement. He was handed to me as I was told
his name. Yukon. It was so incredibly beautiful to hold this little being in my arms knowing that

History Of The Campaign Finance
History of The Campaign Finance in the U.S
Campaign finance in the United States is the financing of electoral campaigns at the federal, state,
and local levels. At the federal level, campaign finance law is enacted by Congress and enforced by
the Federal Election Commission (FEC), an independent federal agency. Although more campaign
spending is privately financed, public financing is available for qualifying candidates for President
of the United States during both the primaries and the general election. Eligibility requirements
must be fulfilled to qualify for a government subsidy, and those that do accept government funding
are usually subject to spending limits on money.
To gain votes from recently enfranchised, unpropertied voters, Andrew Jackson launched his
campaign for the 1828 election through a network of partisan newspapers across the nation. After
his election, Jackson began a political patronage system that rewarded political party operatives,
which had a profound effect on future elections. Eventually, appointees were expected to
contribute portions of their pay back to the political party. During the Jacksonian era, some of the
first attempts were made by corporations to influence politicians. Jackson claimed that his charter
battle against the Second Bank of the United States was one of the great struggles between
democracy and the money power. While it was rumored that The Bank of the United States spent
over $40,000 from 1830 to 1832 in an effort to stop

Similarities Between The Holocaust And Salem Witch Trials
Comparing Tragedies What do two events that occured hundred of years apart have in common?
Although the Salem Witch Trials and the Holocaust were very different, they were both led by
misguided judgements of what makes people different. They both consisted of many tragedies
such as false accusation, killing innocent people, and lots of death. The Salem Witch Trials
began in 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts (Salem Witch Trials 1). Three girls were accused of
witchcraft, and then proceed to blame the whole town of witchcraft (Salem Witch Trials 1).
Bridget Bishop was the first woman hanged in June (Salem Witch Trials 1). Many people denied
witchcraft in Salem (Salem Witch Trials 1). 40,000 to 60,000 people were executed for being
accused of witchcraft (Salem Witch Trials 2). General Court declared a day of fasting for the
tragedy (Salem Witch Trials 1). Thought the respected Minister Cotton Mather had warned of the
dubious value of spectral evidence, his concerns went largely unheeded during the Salem Witch
Trials, (Salem Witch Trials 1).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The article was easy to understand due to having a background in phonetics and know the different
types of place, manner and voicing.
Introduction: According to the article, there is documentation that there are early intervention
programs out in the world. The congress, of 1986, encouraged others to design early intervention
for toddlers and infants with disabilities. There is (1/4) of children in the world that qualify for
early interventions and demonstrate some type of communication disorder. There are many other
studies that have been done that concluded there is little known about the effectiveness of
treatments on toddlers with cleft palate who enrolled in early intervention services. According to
Blakeley and Brockman (1995), they described 41 children that do have cleft palate who
enrolled in 4 year treatment plan at the age of 12 months. 66% of the children also received
articulation therapy from an SLP. The results showed 93% of them showed normal articulation by
age 5 and 88% had normal expressive language also by the age of 5.
Early intervention helps children, with delays, in speech sound development and expressive
language focus on the extending of the child s lexical development. Lexical development refers to
stages or steps in a process involving change. One primary therapy goal would be SLP s expanding
the client s consonant inventory, of early intervention. In the method

The Medici Family During the Renaissance Essays
Florence, Italy was a city just like any other during the Renaissance. It was city of 50,000 people,
less than there were in Paris and Venice but more than most other European cities. The busiest parts
of the city were the Ponte Vecchio, a place lined with markets and houses, the neighborhood of the
Orsanmichele and Mercato Vecchio, or the Old Market. Florencewas a place of beauty and leisure.
A Venetian visitor once said, There is in my opinion no region more sweeter than that wherein

At first, Giovanni was not wealthy. His family had very little money. After his mother s death,
due to his current financial situation, Giovanni s cousin, Vieri di Cambio de Medici employed
Giovanni and his brother, Francesco to work at his bank. In 1385, he was married off to
Piccarda Bueri, who was the mother of Cosimo and Lorenzo. Following his marriage, he took a
risk and invested in his cousin s bank. He moved to Rome to become an executive partner of
Vieri s southern bank believing he was now skilled enough to attain wealth by using the methods
of his cousin. A few years later, Giovanni established the first Medici bank in Florence with a
branch in Rome. A couple years after that, he opened a branch in Naples and Venice (Parks, XI).
Baldassare Cossa, a pirate whose ambition was to become Pope was one of Giovanni s first
clients (PBS: Godfathers of the Renaissance). With the help of Giovanni, Cossa got his wish and
became Pope in 1410. His bank flourished due to Baldassare Cossa s success in becoming Pope.
Dealing with the papacy had opened up new doors into the Church for Giovanni. It drastically
increased the number of clients Giovanni affiliated with. He didn t achieve much compared to his
sons and grandchildren but because established the first Medici Bank, he helped his family acquire
great wealth and popularity.

Does Clifford Offer a Convincing View of Religious Faith
Does Clifford offer a convincing view of religious faith?
In his article The Ethics of Belief (Clifford, 1877) W.K. Clifford sought to argue that it is wrong
always, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence (as cited on
p190). The aim of this essay is to establish whether indeed this view offered by Clifford, when
considering religious faith, is convincing. In order to do this I will consider the arguments that
Clifford put forward, including that which to believe anything based upon insufficient evidence
always does harm and so is wrong. Such a statement is in direct opposition to those religious
believers who regard their blind faith as a virtue and for whom evidence is something that is ...

I formed this belief because he smiled at me, that may be considered insufficient evidence, however
as a human being with instinct and emotions it makes me feel better to hold this belief, therefore I
do.
If we consider perhaps the many people who may have suffered misfortune in life and who take
the opportunity of the turn of the New Year to state their belief that this year will be different,
good things are to come their way and fortunes will change. I don t agree that these individuals can
be labeled immoral in holding these beliefs. There may be no evidence sufficient or otherwise to
support this belief but it could be argued that without the positive and maybe unrealistic expectation
of a change in fortunes then none would come. Similarly the talented actor may believe they will be
successful in their chosen career with the hope and expectation of stardom and recognition,
statistically we know that this, irrelevant of the talent and ability, is highly unlikely and there
would be no evidence to support their belief, in fact there would be more than sufficient evidence to
suggest otherwise, however

Domestic Violence Social Problem
Domestic Violence as a Social Problem Domestic violence or intimate partner violence has been a
social problem for almost as long as humans have inhabited the earth. Domestic violence is often
defined as a pattern of abusive tactics aimed to maintain power and control over an intimate partner,
such as physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse. Like many social problems, domestic
violencecan happen to anybody and can be perpetrated by anybody. It is generally accepted that as
many as 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violenceby an
intimate partner in their lifetime (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010). Furthermore, it
is believed that domestic violence impacts individuals with disabilities... Show more content on

This may be the result of the lack of differences among the help seeking behavior and requested
services of survivors across identities. For example, one study found that LGBTQ individuals
have sought help at rates similar to their cisgender, heterosexual counterparts (Turell Cornell
Swanson, 2005). With that being said, the study also reported a low rating of helpfulness of
service providers from this group (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). LGBTQ indidivuals reported
that domestic violence programs, police, attorneys, and clergy were the least helpful when
seeking help related to a violent incident, while family and friends were able to satisfy their
needs (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). While this could be interpreted as a lack of response
from these agencies regarding domestic violence towards LGBTQ individuals, it should also be
noted that some of these agencies receive low ratings of helpfulness from survivors across all
identities. For example, the police response to domestic violence has long been criticized by
survivors of partner violence (Li et al., 2015). In some ways, the police response to domestic
violence has even worsened since the implementation of VAWA with mandatory arrest policies
disproportionately impacting women and other minorities (Qtd. in Li et al., 2015; Sudbury,
2003). Furthermore, Chen Ullman predicted that the police response to sexual and domestic
violence is greatly influenced by myths perpetrated by rape culture such as disbelief of victims
(Chen Ullman, 2014). One benefit and service related to VAWA that has received a lot of
criticism from intersectional analysts is shelter services. Shelter services are typically gender
based services (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). Despite VAWA requiring an alternative service of
equal opportunity being offered, LGBTQ

Watching Pollan s Series Documentary
INTRODUCTION
I selected to watch Pollan s series documentary instead of his book due to my difficulties in
reading and being a visual learner. I am grateful to Pollen for being able to see his story as the
documentary. This allowed a visual and hearing experience with the professionals he spoke with
within their environment along with demonstrations of what they were talking about. It was an
experience to join the people from the countries he visited in their homes/work and to learn what
he was taught. This video brings more meaning and life into his story than just words on a page.
AUTHOR
Michael Pollan is an American author, journalist, activist, and professor of journalism at the UC
Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. For the last 25 years he has written about nature and
culture and their intersection in what we put on our plates, what is in our farms/gardens and in
the environment we have built. In 2010, he was named in TIME s 100 Most Influential People,
and received a few other awards. He does not seem to have a formal education in nutrition,
however, based off this documentary he completes thorough research through speaking with
professionals, specialists and highly regarded (in this case) makers as well as people who live in
the communities he is reporting about.
STORY
Pollen speaks about how America consumes more processed food than any other country and is
very quickly losing its roots and knowledge of natural food and home cooking with its ability to

Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen in the...
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen is an important document of the French
Revolution. The National Assembly passed it on August 6, 1789. The Declaration presents the idea
of inalienable rights of humans regardless of social status or privilege. It, along with support of the
majority of France, was instrumental in putting an end to the Ancien Regime. The Ancien Regime
was the old order matriarchal way, and the people of France were tired of the control this absolute
monarchy had over them. The French Revolutionwas a turning point in European history that
would forever change the government of France. Not only were the citizens unhappy with their
current government, but the majority were suffering from the economic crisis as the result of
war. Forty years of wars in which France was involved had taken its toll on the economy. In
addition to the drain on finances by war, the extravagant lifestyles of the aristocracy also drained
France s treasury. Though economy was definitely a cause of the French Revolution, it was not the
only cause. Like the American Revolution that occurred a decade earlier, there were many reasons
for the revolt but the main goal being equality for all. One catalyst of the French Revolution was
the Ancien Regime s social structure. For centuries, the people of France were divided into three
distinct groups, also known as Estates or Orders. The First Estate consisted of the Clergy of the
French Catholic Church. The church was quite

ANTHONY NG ARCHITECTS LIMITED: building towards a paperless future 2011 BSM920

Killer Angels By Michael Shaara
In the Pulitzer Prize winning civil war novel Killer Angels, Michael Shaara covers five days of the
historic battle between the Northern and Southern United States at Gettysburg. Both the North and
the South fought for freedom, although they did not have equivalent definitions of freedom. The
North and the South were unwavering in their beliefs and their hope for a better United States, but
what the two butted heads the most on was slavery. The South was a primarily agrarian region
which relied heavily on the agriculture of crops like cotton and sugarcane, both of which required
intense manual labor, unlike the North who was more so industrialized; however, as William
Preston said, it was not cotton that was the south s king but it was slavery that made them so
prosperous. The South relied on slavery because having many workers to tend to these cash crops
without having to pay them saved farmers and plantation owner s money that they could use to buy
more slaves that put out more work leading to more land for more crops, or to have more money to
pay their taxes. Many Southerners like William Preston thought that owning other people was their
divine right as white men. The Civil War was started over the North and South s conflicting views
on whether they had the civil right to own or not own slaves. The Northern and Southern states
developed themselves much differently than one another because of their agrarian versus
industrialized economy. As the states developed they

Instead, they were so focused on developing a blockbuster drug that its ethical considerations that
would ordinarily have been considered were ignored. Protecting consumers of prescription medicine
The best course of action, in protecting consumers of prescription medicine, would be to ban direct
to consumer (DTC) advertising of these medications. Research has shown that DTC ads provide
biased educational materials that promote medication over healthy alternatives (Stange, 2007).
Conversations between the patient and health care provider revolve around DTC ads rather than the
patient s personal health. Discussing why the DTC drug is not the best option for the patient could
result in decreased conversations about the patient s behavior, family health history or recent
patient health concerns. DTC advertisements create an environment through which patient
vulnerability and fear of illness is manipulated and the selected drug serves as the best solution.
These advertisements should encourage the patient to encourage communications between the
patient and doctor on ways to become healthier; instead they foster a belief that drug dependency
is a more viable solution than healthy behaviors. As of right now, only the United States and New
Zealand do not ban the use of DTC ads (Stange, 2007). Consumers need to take a more

Miami Dade High School Research Paper
Since them opening in 2006, the West Campus of Miami Dade College, located on Doral at the
west side of Miami as they own name tells, has been the study house of thousands of students.
Unfortunately, in 2012 a catastrophic garage collapse occurred when it was three fourths complete,
leaving the students without somewhere to park their cars to attend class. Consequently, leading
too many effects on students schedule and also even on their budget.
Since the vast majority of students that attend college drives a car, Miami Dade College had to find
a place where students could park their car without taking the risk of being towed or ticketed. So
the college administration allied at a first instance with Miami Dade County to let the students park
at the 117th avenue which is right behind the college buildings. The real problem came when the
Miami Dade County didn t let them park there anymore. Consequently, MDC had to find another
place to let them park, so they moved the parking site to the International Mall, which is about 3

Analysis Of Oedipus The King Вё Jocasta
Suicide is a desperate act that puts forward a clear yet sombre statement to their audience.
Keeping this is mind, the question arises, why do people commit suicide? In Sophocles play,
Oedipus The KingВё Jocasta who is both wife and mother to Oedipus is an excellent example of
why one might commit suicide due to two major themes. The first theme is pride and manifests
itself in Jocasta s prideful character. The second theme is prophecy and its relation to suicideis found
it Jocasta s actions after she realizes the truth. Jocasta s arrogant character and the discovery of the
prophecy s fulfilment are what drive Jocasta to suicide.
Jocasta s egotistical nature is evident throughout the play and this aspect, along with other features
of the play, are what contribute to her unruly demise. She is portrayed as an arrogant individual
through her actions and lines spoken in the play. After the messenger arrives with news of Polybus
death, Oedipus is relieved that his adopted father had died thus, unable to fulfill the prophecy.
Jocasta responds with a boastful remark stating, There. Didn t I tell you from the start (Sophocles
1064 1065). This contemptuous statement directed towards Oedipus showcases Jocasta s
personality, and is a major factor that contributes to her death. In addition to being insolent, Jocasta
portrays traits of skepticism, because she questions the prophecy that Tiresias had foretold, A
prophet? Well then, free yourself of every charge! Listen to me and

INTRODUCTION LITERATURE REVIEW The current economic crisis has become a major
concern of all nations today. It has led policymakers and economists to rethink about the instrument
for economics stability. One of the most damaging consequences of this crisis is the consumption
instability, which negatively affects risk adverse agents welfare. As mentioned by Athahasoulis and

detrimental consequences for the accumulation of human capital and physical capital. Therefore,

value added by all resident producers plus any product taxes (less subsidies) not included in the

Feminism And The Second Wave Of Feminism
Any given person can define feminism in a different way. Some view it as a women s movement
for women, by women and against men. It can also be hard to distinguish the different types of
feminism when the more radical, outspoken people or organizations can overshadow the rest. In
general, feminism is another way in which to view things, another lens in which to see the world. It
is another platform for people to express themselves as whole individuals and become a voice for
others that may otherwise remain unheard. Feminismas a whole takes a look at social constructs
and gender norms and begins to deconstruct them to create an environment that is equal and
accepting of all persons. In the second wave of feminism, many women began to break out of the
roles as housewives and mothers and speak up for equality. Gloria Steinemis among many of the

The Decline Of Civility Within The Workplace
The question was asked, Do manners matter? The Golden Rule states: do to others what you
would want them to do to you. The decline of civility in the workplace has been on the rise.
Morals are still at the conclusion that this isn t at any value of importance (Martin). Society
assumes that one is born with etiquettes and not taught. Judith Martin states that the Original
Innocence is the idea that people are born naturally good but corrupted by civilization (Martin).
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of civility is polite, reasonable, and
respectful behavior. Incivility is an issue for many. Researcher Jeannie Trudel of Indiana
Wesleyan University in Marion says that Seventy five percent to eighty percent of people have
experienced incivility (Mattice). Employees, bosses, and even family members are affected by
one s reaction to incivility. The lack of discipline and the absences of manners is slowly creating
a problem in today s work society due to need of communication (Martin). Today s work society
has targeted hate for one another. It is typically causing many to regret their choice of profession;
constantly, dreading the idea to perform to the expected. If we are going to eliminate the cause of
rude behavior and the effect of rude behavior in the workplace, each company should evaluate their
policy s, discuss proper expectations, and provide trainings. The cause of uncivil actions can take a
dramatic toll on any workplace.

remarkable craftsmen. To trick the brothers into making Sif s hair, he set up a competition

Competing globally would allow Friend Z s Coffee House to take advantage of a larger customer

The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team Case Study
The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) has undergone significant changes in the past three
years. The brigade was once one of the best maneuver brigades in Forces Command (FORSCOM)
but is now riddled with issues ranging from lack of a clear vision for the unit to low morale, and
ethical concerns. As the incoming BrigadeCommander, I have had 30 days to assess the unit and
review historical information and an evaluation from the Centers for Army Lessons Learned
(CALL). The most critical leadership problem in the 4th ABCT is the lack of a clear vision for
the unit. I will use Kotter s Eight Step Change Model and the Seven Step Vision Process along
with Kotter s Eight Step change model to establish goals and implement organizational change.
By implementing change using Kotter s model and the seven step vision process, I can alleviate
some of the underlying morale and ethical issues while providing a picture of the future. The
first step of Kotter s Eight Step Change Model is creating a sense of urgency. 4th ABCT has a
systemic leadership problem. One way to create a sense of urgency is through dissatisfaction. I
will start by suspending or removing leaders currently displaying unethical behavior. Not only am I
creating dissatisfaction, but also an opportunity to use talent management to assign leaders within
the brigade who will help support change. I will suspend CPT Seth Cooper and perform a
Commander s inquiry prior to pursuing a 15 6 investigation. This will show the

UHG Performance Management
Mission, Goals, and Performance Management Today, organizations need to have a clear
understanding of where their organization is and where it needs to be in the future to secure
longevity and financial success (Moore, Ellsworth, Kaufman, 2011). Organizations need to have a

performance managementprocess in place allows the employer and employee to communicate goals,

Social Change Essay
In my lifetime time, I have seen many social changes. The invention of the internet, the change in
views on race, religion and the institution of marriage and many other changes too numerous to
mention. There are three important processes that facilitate these changes, cultural processes
(invention, discovery, and diffusion), social conflict, ideas, and demographic patterns. Along with
social change, modernity has allowed our society to change. Modern societies are different from
traditional societies and by looking at the theories of Tönnies, Durkheim, Weber, and Marx. we

In industrial capitalist societies, he maintained, the struggle between capitalists and workers
pushes society toward a socialist system of production. Marx vision about social conflict
arising from inequality has proven to be correct and that it does create changes in every society.
Without ideas, and men with dreams, there would be no innovation and little social change. Max
Weber believed that most social change came from ideas. For example, it takes just one man
with a charismatic message to inspire and change the world. Weber (1958, orig. 1904 l905) also
high lighted the importance of ideas by revealing how the religious beliefs of early Protestants
set the stage for the spread of industrial capitalism. Ideas unite people in a common goal allowing
social change to take place, such as creating a new neighborhood watch program or protesting
wall street for more income equality. As populations grow and change, demographic patterns play
a part in social change. Some patterns include change in household size, women having fewer
children, the age of the population, and the migration from one place to another. In America,
households have been shrinking over the last century and family size is about half of what it

Rhetorical Analysis Of Politics In The English Language
In George Orwell s Politics in the English Language, the author makes the point that politics are
distorted as a result of improper use of the English language. He breaks the issue down into four
main sources: dying metaphors, verbal false limbs, pretentious diction, and meaningless words. He
uses these points to prove specifically what must be done in order to fix modern English. Orwell
does this through his use of rhetorical devices such as asyndeton and metaphor, which both
demonstrate the idea that he aims to convey.
George Orwell uses asyndeton to prove how unnecessary the employment of specific writing
techniques is when one is trying to get a point across to an audience. Instances of this can be found
in the portion of the essay in which Orwell takes apart the idea of pretentious diction. He uses
asyndeton to list a vast multitude of words phenomenon, element, individual (as noun), objective,
categorical, effective, virtual, basic, primary, promote, constitute, exhibit, exploit, utilize, eliminate,
liquidate which fall under the category of pretentious. The way that the words are listed without any
break between them eventually becomes monotonous. This demonstrates Orwell s idea that
pretentious diction, (Orwell) results in a more blurred understanding of points that are being made.

the grace of a fencer and the ferocity of a starving lion. Those that saw him fight, friend or foe,
called him a monster on the battlefield, because of his horrifying demeanor and impeccable
fighting ability. He continued to carve a path directly through the enemy forces, the horse he was

Star Spangled Banner
Many people hail The Star Spangled Banner as the greatest piece of American music. The
audiences of America s national anthem seem, instinctively, eager to express their respect by
embracing the notion to remove their hats and stand up. However, not many people ponder over
the question of what The Star Spangled Banner truly means. What does it mean? Why does it
deserve so much reverence and honor? What exceptional difference allows it to prevail over the
masterpieces of prominent composers like Mozart and Beethoven? The answer is fairly simple. The
Star Spangled Banner symbolizes America s perseverance, its set of moral laws and ethics, and its
history that constitutes what America truly means. The Star Spangled Banner ... Show more content

It portrays America s peerless zeal to defend its homeland and, in the course, its rights, its values,
and its freedom that require such dear efforts to attain. Furthermore, it duly illustrates the many
trials America is willing to face to create this new haven in which every person is free from
persecution for following their perception of true freedom. However, the moral and humane laws
of the Americans dictate the extension of freedom to others. Freedom, as the Americans come to
believe, belongs to everyone. The most conspicuous example of America s extending arms of
compassion and equality is the Civil War. Of course, there is no obligation for America to fight a
war against itself for the welfare of African Americans. Still, America is only abiding by its own
set of ethical laws and the humanity that the Bible dictates. In comparison, the moral cause of this
war is exceptionally similar to that in The Star Spangled Banner . Both of the conflicts involve
America in an attempt to uphold its significant values and tenets through confiding in their religion.
Both of the conflicts hail a future in which freedom shall govern this nation. Moreover, both of the
conflicts prove America s traditional values and faith apt to withstand wave after wave of
bombardment without faltering. America is a separate little haven in which no limits exist to
restrict the people s religious faith or to hinder them from following their moral laws and values.

How Is The Australian Legend Poem
In the opinion of historian and author of The Australian Legend Russel Ward, his representation of
the typical Australian is a practical, rough man who gives things a go. Other perceived ideas stated
in his text are; masculinity and mateship, egalitarianism, larrikinism, anti intellectualism and
stoicism. Published in 1958, these ideologies symbolize the typical man in the days in was written,
whereas nowadays it can be perceived differently with modern, multicultural Australians. Though
most of the ideas are still accurate to todays people, it was only focused on the men, and not the
women or general society including the indigenous. I have chosen to analyse two classic Australian
bush poems by two well known competitors. The first one... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The poem focuses on explaining the hardship of the bush and the harsh realities we don t think
about. According to Dawson s aesthetic illustration, the life of a bushman is a tough and difficult

Bodily Intelligent Research Paper
People can be intelligent in different ways some of these ways are being naturalist intelligence,
bodily kinesthetic intelligence, and interpersonal intelligence. Naturalist is an intelligent by
understanding living things and reading or being a part of nature. Next is bodily kinesthetic is an
intelligent by coordinating your mindwith your body. Finally, interpersonal is an intelligent by
sensing or feelingsomeone s emotions or feelings by looking at them.
One way can be intelligent is interpersonal intelligent. Interpersonal is an intelligent by sensing
and understanding people s feelings and motives. This is an intelligent because people can look
at someone and understand what they re doing and what they are going to do. David looks at a box
full of corn and can tell how many pieces of corn there is in that box even if there are 64 boxes ...

Bodily kinesthetic is when you coordinate your mind with your body and coordinate what you
need to do in a fast reaction and do what you are thinking. When people meditate, or pray that is a
form of bodily kinesthetic because they fuse their mind with their body to get more power or to
believe in something greater. When Charlie accepted with his body to his mind that he wasn t
smart and will never be smart but he goes to find a solution. That sometimes I coordinate my mind
with my body to do what I tell my body to do or what I Think.
The last way of intelligence is naturalist, naturalist that which involves being with nature. Naturalist
is when you understand living things and reading nature or understanding nature. That there are a
lot of people that do a lot of things that include nature like fishing or gardening. This relates to
flowers of Algernon because Charlie does activate with Algernon the mouse that he hangs out with
to understand him. I can relate to this because sometimes I go out to a lake and I fish for a couple

Why Honduras Should Be Funded
Imagine living without all the necessities for sophisticated life; no toothbrushes, no showers, no
soft, fluffy beds. It isn t pretty, is it? Well, projects to better the people of Honduras can be funded
to give them the quality that humans deserve to make a living. For example, the average annual
income of families of Honduras is less than six hundred dollars. Even government funded schools
most children can t afford to go to because of the cost of uniforms and schoolsupplies. A reason
that the people of Honduras should be supported is because the average annual income is around a
meager 580 American Dollars. According to the CIA World Factbook, Honduras is one of the
poorest countries in Latin America and has the world s highest murder rate. This means that most

Honduras provides free public education through fifth grade, but sadly many students cannot
attend due to the cost of school supplies and uniforms. Many projects funding Hondurans are for
money to buy foodstuffs for re sale. The people need the profit from selling these items to afford
the cost of their children going to school. If their children can receive an education, they will be
able to get better paying jobs, ending the poverty cycle in that family line. The last reason why we
should contribute to funding for Hondurans is there is a high population growth rate and more
people means more food is needed. Since the population growth rate is approximately 1.64%
(estimated in 2016), this means more people in this country will need to find jobs or a way to get
food and other necessities for their families. Many families have multiple children to help with
farm work, so families keep getting bigger and bigger, meaning more food, so there is never an

The Guillain-Barre Syndrome Essay
Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) is a disorder where your own immune system starts to attack part
of the nervous system, mainly the peripheral nervous system. The peripheral nervous system is a
very important system in the body it is what contains all the nerves that are not directly connected
to the brain and spinal cord. The main function of the peripheral nervous systemis to connect the
central nervous systemto the rest of the body, such as the organs and limbs. Beginning signs that
you may have Guillain Barre Syndrome is that of noticing varying degrees of tingling and

Guillain Barre syndrome is diagnosed in a couple ways however due to the fact that a great
many of the signs and symptoms can be quite varied doctors have a hard time diagnosing it in
the earliest stages. As previously stated several disorders have similar symptoms to Guillain
Barre syndrome so with many cases of this disease the doctors ensure that they get a very
thorough examination as well as question the patients with great credibility before giving a
diagnosis of this disease. Doctors normally give patients that think they have Guillain Barre a
nerve conduction velocity test this gives clues to the doctors that help aid in diagnosis. With
some doctors they go to the extreme and perform a spinal tap to be for certain that a patient does
in fact have Guillain Barre Syndrome. A spinal tap is a procedure where a large needle is
inserted into the lumbar (lower back) and a small amount of fluid is drawn, this fluid is
cerebrospinal fluid. As of right now those are the only test to diagnose a patient. As of right now
Guillain Barre syndrome does not have a known cure. However, there are a great many therapies
available to help lessen the illness in the severity of it. These therapies also help accelerate recovery
in patients. The current therapy method being used at the time is that of plasma exchange and
immunoglobulin in high doses. They are both equally effective, however the

The Rights Of Fellow American Citizens
The Complacent Majority Students across the United States stand before the American flag

raised to devote their life to a country they are born into by chance. Unknown to them, they are
subject to the laws and regulations of an outside world that boasts freedom, yet imposes a pledge
amongst children. The American government was once a country of dissent and rebellion.
However, as citizens become radical in the midst of chaos, cower in the face of defeat, comply to
a vocal minority, silence their voice in fear of a powerful nation, abuse of power becomes
prevalent, and citizens must practice the most American form of democracy civil... Show more

In fact, most Japanese American s recount this moment in history as a traumatic experience as
they were forced to leave their homes due to an unjust law. Attorney General Biddle as well as
former Secretary of War Henry Stimson, believed there was no reasons for mass evacuation
(Irons 41), and that [Americans] cannot discriminate among [citizens] on the ground of racial
origin (Irons 41). American s are raised to believe the founding fathers had the best interests of
all citizens, and the Constitution and Bill of Rights are guidelines for all branches of government.
In a 6 to 3 Supreme Court ruling against Hirabayashi, a new precedent was set that opposed the
guidelines of law. Although the prosecution had no legal grounds to convict Hirabayashi as anti
Japanese laws conflict with the laws of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the Court s historic
malevolence against minorities (Irons 5) tends to rule in favor of injustice. Popular opinion was
that Hirabayashi s conviction was the result of government precautions during wartime. In reality,
radical opinions fueled the fears of Americans who unknowingly sacrificed their freedom for the
illusion of safety. Historic government feats are the basis for modern political ideology. American
democracy was built on the successes of both the Greek and Roman empire along with a socialist
safety net. The

Agricultural Education and Training on Crop Producing...
1. RESEARCH TOPIC Agricultural Education and Training on crop producing rural subsistence
farmers in the area of KwaMadundube (Stanger, Kwa Zulu Natal). 2. BACKGROUND The rapid
growth of agricultural education and training began during the late 19th century in the United
States of America (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agricultural_extension). Since the establishment
of the democratic South African government in 1994, visionary policies and programs, strategies
and Agricultural education and training governance structures have been established (Didiza,
2005). In 2005 (DoA, 2005), the national agricultural education and training strategy was launched
with the aim to address the needs of the country s economy and improvement of agricultural
production through quality Agricultural Education and Training. The area of KwaMadundube is
located in Kwa Zulu Natal. Before April 2013, the area of KwaMadundube was not under
Municipality (Nhaca and Ngobese, KwaDukuza Municipality Corporate communications
Department). There was no development in any way. It was owned by families who paid money
for it. The receipts they received when they bought the land served as certificates so that they
could enjoy the privileges enjoyed by white people and served as a right to own the land. These
families were forced to change their surnames e.g. Mhlongo became Champion and Khuzwayo
became Forbay; so that they would own the land freely as it was during the apartheid era that they

A Brief Argument Of Evolutionary Psychology By Putting...
Social constructionism counters this argument of evolutionary psychology by putting emphasis on
environment and nurture. Constructionism focuses on how meaning is created hence when we use
the term socially constructed we are referring to how society and culture create gender roles which
are in turn prescribed as normal and appropriate behavior expected from a person of that particular
gender. More radical versions of the social constructionist theory go as far as to argue that the
behavioral differences that exist between men and women are entirely social conventions free of
any biological or evolutional influence. Other versions of the theory also claim that there are
multiple genders aside from the traditionally recognized male and... Show more content on

Gender stereotypes can even be accurate at times....
As we have seen gender stereotypes and the subsequent gender roles which they encourage can
often serve a good purpose but they do become problematic when the lines are blurred and we can
no longer distinguish between nature and nurture. There is a network of researchers who have
proposed that stereotypes are indeed grounded on truth and these are not just empty claims as there
is also a wealth of research to support this. Throughout this paper we shall take a look at this
research and examine its authenticity in order to determine what truth if any lies in stereotypes.
Similarly, many people use confirmatory biases to prove the truthfulness of stereotypes.
Confirmation bias is a tendency of people to remember and notice events in a way which confirms
their ideology and beliefs.. For instance,
How they Are normalized.American celebrity chef and cooking show television host Paula Dean

Even those that are investors will tell you it s a risky business, but if you stick with it in the long run the risk takers will come to realize that this is the way out to be living the lives they are meant to live. It could be that money is tight and it s putting a hold on becoming an investor or the uneasy feeling of thinking if it all doesn t go as planned. The law differentiates between the investor and the homeowner because the investor has taken on large improvements based on the previous state of affairs where the homeowner has not. This means that the investor gained site specific assurance where the homeowner did not, even if they seek out to maintain the zoning classification not only on their property, but on the whole neighborhood. Hence, several courts have specifically held that neighbors have no eternally vested rights in the perpetuation of an existing zoning classification (Stahl, Kenneth A). In most cases this is why there are some neighborhoods around the metropolitan area where there are signs that read My community is not for sale as a way of protesting. In a way this seems unfair for the communities that must deal with new development within the area without having a say which makes most neighbors somewhat aggravated with the city s decision making and the benefits it gives investors in what they do with a property. On the other hand people need to realize the essential aspect of new property development, this is motivation for investors to form an important part of identity to help shape communities where the property can serve as an important focus that gives meaning to residents within society. Therefore, it is important to note that the Property and Relative Status is another factor that needs to be accounted for when getting in real estate investing as well as the ... • 3. The Hound Of The Baskerviile By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay RATIONALISM AND SUPERSTITION: A CRITICAL STUDY OF THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVIILE BY SIR ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE The book The Hound Of The Baskerville was written in 1901. The novel was published in serial form from 1901 to 1902. It continues to enjoy much success today and is considered by some Sherlock Holmes scholars to be Doyle s best work. It has inspired over twenty film and television reinterpretations, made in diverse places such as Germany, Australia, Canada, the United States, and of course, the United Kingdom. The most recent such reinvention of this story can be seen in the BBC series Sherlock, although this retelling very much differs from the original novel. Doyle was inspired to write the novel when he was staying with his friend, Bertram Fletcher Robinson in 1901. He named the character Sir Henry Baskerville after the gardener of Robinson named Harry Baskerville. Doyle had met Robinson on a return voyage from South Africa and Robinson told him about a legend from his home region of Devon, England. Later, Robinson showed Doyle the moor known as Dartmoor, upon which the story is based. It is the largest open space in the southern region of England. In a letter to his mother, Mary, Doyle commented that the moor was a great place, very sad and wild, dotted with the dwellings of prehistoric man, huts and graves . And this is where Doyle got his inspiration from. The atmosphere of a place uninhabited by man is pervasive in the story and is actually different from many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Northern Renaissance And The Spirit Of The Northern... The Northern Renaissance began in the fifthteenth century, catalyzed by the end of the Bubonic Plague, a commercial revolution which brought economic prosperity, and the ideas brought by Italian artists fleeing from French invaders. Northern Europeans quickly accepted Italian art, who combined their traditions with Italian concepts to celebrate realistic portrayals in their paintings. The surge of creativity in Flanders, the hub of the Northern Renaissance, at the time embodied the spirit of the Renaissance, which celebrated inventiveness, as well as exploring new ideas. Jan Van Eyck, a Flemish painter born in the late fourteenth century, lived at the beginning of the Northern Renaissance, in which he created many famous paintings such as the Ghent Altarpiece, The Arnolfini Portrait, and The Madonna of Chancellor Rolin. Jan Van Eyck s training in Flanders allowed the painter to procure important court positions, in which he embodied the creative spirit of the Renaissance by mastering the techniques of realism and intense detail within his painting The Madonna of Chancellor Rolin, and the Eyckian technique of oil paintinginfluenced many other painters of the time as well as modern artists. Jan Van Eyck trained with his brother in Flanders, where he secured high courtly positions, which allowed him the freedom to further his mastery and worldview, embodying the Renaissance spirit. • 5. Descriptive Essay Guide Dog Oh, I could never do that. It would be so hard to give them up! This is something I hear everyday as I go about my daily life. I am a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, an organization that provides fully trained guide dogs to people who are visually impaired at no cost. It is only through many volunteers that this is possible. And I am one of those volunteers. I volunteer about a year of my life to train and socialize a young puppy until it is ready to to begin learning tasks necessary to be an effective guide dog. It is one of the best things I have chosent to do, even though it is so hard to give them up. On July 29, 2016 I drove into the parking lot of a hotel. I felt so many emotions as we pulled up to a lot filled with so many people with smiles on their faces. I was picking up my fourth puppy to raise to someday be a guide dog for somebody visually impaired. I had been assigned a puppy, but I did not know his name. All I had been told was that he was a male yellow lab, and his name started with the letter Y. Naturally, I had put together a list of over 100 name possibilities, and I anxiously awaited to hear what my companion for the next year would be called. Finally, the moment arrived when a small yellow ball emerged from the doors of the puppy truck, a large van used to transport puppies. I could not contain my excitement. He was handed to me as I was told his name. Yukon. It was so incredibly beautiful to hold this little being in my arms knowing that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. History Of The Campaign Finance History of The Campaign Finance in the U.S Campaign finance in the United States is the financing of electoral campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels. At the federal level, campaign finance law is enacted by Congress and enforced by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), an independent federal agency. Although more campaign spending is privately financed, public financing is available for qualifying candidates for President of the United States during both the primaries and the general election. Eligibility requirements must be fulfilled to qualify for a government subsidy, and those that do accept government funding are usually subject to spending limits on money. To gain votes from recently enfranchised, unpropertied voters, Andrew Jackson launched his campaign for the 1828 election through a network of partisan newspapers across the nation. After his election, Jackson began a political patronage system that rewarded political party operatives, which had a profound effect on future elections. Eventually, appointees were expected to contribute portions of their pay back to the political party. During the Jacksonian era, some of the first attempts were made by corporations to influence politicians. Jackson claimed that his charter battle against the Second Bank of the United States was one of the great struggles between democracy and the money power. While it was rumored that The Bank of the United States spent over $40,000 from 1830 to 1832 in an effort to stop ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three girls were accused of witchcraft, and then proceed to blame the whole town of witchcraft (Salem Witch Trials 1). Bridget Bishop was the first woman hanged in June (Salem Witch Trials 1). The article was easy to understand due to having a background in phonetics and know the different types of place, manner and voicing. Introduction: According to the article, there is documentation that there are early intervention programs out in the world. The congress, of 1986, encouraged others to design early intervention for toddlers and infants with disabilities. There is (1/4) of children in the world that qualify for early interventions and demonstrate some type of communication disorder. There are many other studies that have been done that concluded there is little known about the effectiveness of treatments on toddlers with cleft palate who enrolled in early intervention services. According to Blakeley and Brockman (1995), they described 41 children that do have cleft palate who enrolled in 4 year treatment plan at the age of 12 months. 66% of the children also received articulation therapy from an SLP. The results showed 93% of them showed normal articulation by age 5 and 88% had normal expressive language also by the age of 5. Early intervention helps children, with delays, in speech sound development and expressive language focus on the extending of the child s lexical development. Clifford sought to argue that it is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone, to believe anything upon insufficient evidence (as cited on p190). The aim of this essay is to establish whether indeed this view offered by Clifford, when considering religious faith, is convincing. Domestic Violence Social Problem Domestic Violence as a Social Problem Domestic violence or intimate partner violence has been a social problem for almost as long as humans have inhabited the earth. Domestic violence is often defined as a pattern of abusive tactics aimed to maintain power and control over an intimate partner, such as physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse. Like many social problems, domestic violencecan happen to anybody and can be perpetrated by anybody. It is generally accepted that as many as 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violenceby an intimate partner in their lifetime (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2010). Furthermore, it is believed that domestic violence impacts individuals with disabilities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This may be the result of the lack of differences among the help seeking behavior and requested services of survivors across identities. For example, one study found that LGBTQ individuals have sought help at rates similar to their cisgender, heterosexual counterparts (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). With that being said, the study also reported a low rating of helpfulness of service providers from this group (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). LGBTQ indidivuals reported that domestic violence programs, police, attorneys, and clergy were the least helpful when seeking help related to a violent incident, while family and friends were able to satisfy their needs (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). While this could be interpreted as a lack of response from these agencies regarding domestic violence towards LGBTQ individuals, it should also be noted that some of these agencies receive low ratings of helpfulness from survivors across all identities. For example, the police response to domestic violence has long been criticized by survivors of partner violence (Li et al., 2015). In some ways, the police response to domestic violence has even worsened since the implementation of VAWA with mandatory arrest policies disproportionately impacting women and other minorities (Qtd. in Li et al., 2015; Sudbury, 2003). Furthermore, Chen Ullman predicted that the police response to sexual and domestic violence is greatly influenced by myths perpetrated by rape culture such as disbelief of victims (Chen Ullman, 2014). One benefit and service related to VAWA that has received a lot of criticism from intersectional analysts is shelter services. Shelter services are typically gender based services (Turell Cornell Swanson, 2005). Despite VAWA requiring an alternative service of equal opportunity being offered, LGBTQ ... It was an experience to join the people from the countries he visited in their homes/work and to learn what he was taught. This video brings more meaning and life into his story than just words on a page. AUTHOR Michael Pollan is an American author, journalist, activist, and professor of journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. For the last 25 years he has written about nature and culture and their intersection in what we put on our plates, what is in our farms/gardens and in the environment we have built. In 2010, he was named in TIME s 100 Most Influential People, and received a few other awards. He does not seem to have a formal education in nutrition, however, based off this documentary he completes thorough research through speaking with professionals, specialists and highly regarded (in this case) makers as well as people who live in the communities he is reporting about. The National Assembly passed it on August 6, 1789. The Declaration presents the idea of inalienable rights of humans regardless of social status or privilege. It, along with support of the majority of France, was instrumental in putting an end to the Ancien Regime. The Ancien Regime was the old order matriarchal way, and the people of France were tired of the control this absolute monarchy had over them. The French Revolutionwas a turning point in European history that would forever change the government of France. Not only were the citizens unhappy with their current government, but the majority were suffering from the economic crisis as the result of war. Forty years of wars in which France was involved had taken its toll on the economy. In addition to the drain on finances by war, the extravagant lifestyles of the aristocracy also drained France s treasury. Though economy was definitely a cause of the French Revolution, it was not the only cause. Like the American Revolution that occurred a decade earlier, there were many reasons for the revolt but the main goal being equality for all. One catalyst of the French Revolution was the Ancien Regime s social structure. For centuries, the people of France were divided into three distinct groups, also known as Estates or Orders. • 17. Killer Angels By Michael Shaara In the Pulitzer Prize winning civil war novel Killer Angels, Michael Shaara covers five days of the historic battle between the Northern and Southern United States at Gettysburg. Both the North and the South fought for freedom, although they did not have equivalent definitions of freedom. The North and the South were unwavering in their beliefs and their hope for a better United States, but what the two butted heads the most on was slavery. The South was a primarily agrarian region which relied heavily on the agriculture of crops like cotton and sugarcane, both of which required intense manual labor, unlike the North who was more so industrialized; however, as William Preston said, it was not cotton that was the south s king but it was slavery that made them so prosperous. The South relied on slavery because having many workers to tend to these cash crops without having to pay them saved farmers and plantation owner s money that they could use to buy more slaves that put out more work leading to more land for more crops, or to have more money to pay their taxes. Many Southerners like William Preston thought that owning other people was their divine right as white men. The Civil War was started over the North and South s conflicting views on whether they had the civil right to own or not own slaves. The Northern and Southern states developed themselves much differently than one another because of their agrarian versus industrialized economy. As the states developed they ... Instead, they were so focused on developing a blockbuster drug that its ethical considerations that would ordinarily have been considered were ignored. Protecting consumers of prescription medicine The best course of action, in protecting consumers of prescription medicine, would be to ban direct to consumer (DTC) advertising of these medications. Research has shown that DTC ads provide biased educational materials that promote medication over healthy alternatives (Stange, 2007). Conversations between the patient and health care provider revolve around DTC ads rather than the patient s personal health. Discussing why the DTC drug is not the best option for the patient could result in decreased conversations about the patient s behavior, family health history or recent patient health concerns. DTC advertisements create an environment through which patient vulnerability and fear of illness is manipulated and the selected drug serves as the best solution. These advertisements should encourage the patient to encourage communications between the patient and doctor on ways to become healthier; instead they foster a belief that drug dependency is a more viable solution than healthy behaviors. As of right now, only the United States and New Zealand do not ban the use of DTC ads (Stange, 2007). Consumers need to take a more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Analysis Of Oedipus The King Вё Jocasta Suicide is a desperate act that puts forward a clear yet sombre statement to their audience. Keeping this is mind, the question arises, why do people commit suicide? In Sophocles play, Oedipus The KingВё Jocasta who is both wife and mother to Oedipus is an excellent example of why one might commit suicide due to two major themes. The first theme is pride and manifests itself in Jocasta s prideful character. The second theme is prophecy and its relation to suicideis found it Jocasta s actions after she realizes the truth. Jocasta s arrogant character and the discovery of the prophecy s fulfilment are what drive Jocasta to suicide. Jocasta s egotistical nature is evident throughout the play and this aspect, along with other features of the play, are what contribute to her unruly demise. She is portrayed as an arrogant individual through her actions and lines spoken in the play. After the messenger arrives with news of Polybus death, Oedipus is relieved that his adopted father had died thus, unable to fulfill the prophecy. Jocasta responds with a boastful remark stating, There. Didn t I tell you from the start (Sophocles 1064 1065). This contemptuous statement directed towards Oedipus showcases Jocasta s personality, and is a major factor that contributes to her death. In addition to being insolent, Jocasta portrays traits of skepticism, because she questions the prophecy that Tiresias had foretold, A prophet? Well then, free yourself of every charge! Marx vision about social conflict arising from inequality has proven to be correct and that it does create changes in every society. For example, it takes just one man with a charismatic message to inspire and change the world. Weber (1958, orig. 1904 l905) also high lighted the importance of ideas by revealing how the religious beliefs of early Protestants set the stage for the spread of industrial capitalism. Rhetorical Analysis Of Politics In The English Language In George Orwell s Politics in the English Language, the author makes the point that politics are distorted as a result of improper use of the English language. He breaks the issue down into four main sources: dying metaphors, verbal false limbs, pretentious diction, and meaningless words. He uses these points to prove specifically what must be done in order to fix modern English. Orwell does this through his use of rhetorical devices such as asyndeton and metaphor, which both demonstrate the idea that he aims to convey. George Orwell uses asyndeton to prove how unnecessary the employment of specific writing techniques is when one is trying to get a point across to an audience. However, not many people ponder over the question of what The Star Spangled Banner truly means. What does it mean? Why does it deserve so much reverence and honor? What exceptional difference allows it to prevail over the masterpieces of prominent composers like Mozart and Beethoven? The answer is fairly simple. The Star Spangled Banner symbolizes America s perseverance, its set of moral laws and ethics, and its history that constitutes what America truly means. The Star Spangled Banner ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It portrays America s peerless zeal to defend its homeland and, in the course, its rights, its values, and its freedom that require such dear efforts to attain. Furthermore, it duly illustrates the many trials America is willing to face to create this new haven in which every person is free from persecution for following their perception of true freedom. However, the moral and humane laws of the Americans dictate the extension of freedom to others. Freedom, as the Americans come to believe, belongs to everyone. The most conspicuous example of America s extending arms of compassion and equality is the Civil War. Of course, there is no obligation for America to fight a war against itself for the welfare of African Americans. Still, America is only abiding by its own set of ethical laws and the humanity that the Bible dictates. In comparison, the moral cause of this war is exceptionally similar to that in The Star Spangled Banner . Both of the conflicts involve America in an attempt to uphold its significant values and tenets through confiding in their religion. Both of the conflicts hail a future in which freedom shall govern this nation. Moreover, both of the conflicts prove America s traditional values and faith apt to withstand wave after wave of bombardment without faltering. America is a separate little haven in which no limits exist to restrict the people s religious faith or to hinder them from following their moral laws and values. The Star ... If their children can receive an education, they will be able to get better paying jobs, ending the poverty cycle in that family line. The last reason why we should contribute to funding for Hondurans is there is a high population growth rate and more people means more food is needed. Since the population growth rate is approximately 1.64% (estimated in 2016), this means more people in this country will need to find jobs or a way to get food and other necessities for their families. Popular opinion was that Hirabayashi s conviction was the result of government precautions during wartime. Constructionism focuses on how meaning is created hence when we use the term socially constructed we are referring to how society and culture create gender roles which are in turn prescribed as normal and appropriate behavior expected from a person of that particular gender. More radical versions of the social constructionist theory go as far as to argue that the behavioral differences that exist between men and women are entirely social conventions free of any biological or evolutional influence.
