March Book One And Two Analysis
The pathway to equality for African Americans was a lengthy and laborious process that required
dedication and hard work. March Book One and Two by John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and Nate Powell
describes John Lewis introduction to the inequality and his work during the Civil Rights Movement.
The story is told by Lewis personal accounts and images, which provides an unique reading for the
audience. March: Book One and Two depicts the process of how John Lewis starts to become aware of
the actions against the African Americans and it follows with the protests he was involved in.
Throughout the two books, the chickens stood out the most (p. 23). John Lewis connection to the
chickens really encompasses the whole point of African Americans efforts, by showing that ... Show

For my second source I would use the short online work, The Strategy . This source would help me
with my research paper because it talks about the strategy behind the protests. Readers first notice that
this work is from a government site, which helps establish credibility and accountability. Also
indicating accountability is citing the photos the source utilizes. When reading the work, the readers
see that more information is provided on briefly touched topics, which gives the assertion that the site
is knowledgeable in the subject. The book, Selma to Saigon: The Civil Rights Movement and the
Vietnam War, helps my research paper, by providing information about how the protests became less
diverse and the effects on the movement. This helps to indicate the importance of the strategies that
were utilized during the Civil Rights Movement. Similarly to the others, this source also upholds
credibility by providing the sources it used. The books is also accredited by being published by a well
known school and through the format of the text by being formal and

Cinematography Analysis Of Polanski s Chinatown
Cinematography Analysis in Chinatown
Chinatown is based on Roman Polanski s lifeworks. Polanski s goal is to emphasizes the meaning of
how cinematography is made, and how it inspires by understanding the concept of setting, lighting,
and how the image is captured. This film was released in 1974 by director of Roman Polanski to focus
on private investigator J.J. Gittes, played by Jack Nicholson to investigate the elements behind the
truth. Polanski s goal is to emphasize the audience to give an ominous feeling of the main character,
J.J. Gittes and his point of view by showing in color instead of black and white pictures. Due to these
reasons, Polanski wanted to use Panavision to give a flawed vision about the past, which the story is
set in the years of 1937. Polanski states, a traditional detective story with a new, modern shape for
Paramount picture. (1) This paper focuses on the film Chinatown which is neo noir, not only because
of the setting, but the concept of cinematography that connects duplicates occurrences together that
describe three categories: background of the cinematographer, point of view of the main character, and
the interpretation of the ending scenes.
First of all, Roman Polanski hired John A. Alonzo as the Director of Photography for Chinatown.
Therefore, Alonzo was well known for his notable works, as Director of Photography position after
Chinatown s successful film is Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Scarface, and Star Trek:

Role Of Julius Caesar In The Gaul
Julius Caesar s role in the Gaul had a large impact in many aspects of his career such as the military,
wealth and influence on Rome and political power. Julius Caesar was a Roman politician who turned
the Roman republic into the powerful Roman Empire. Caesar overthrew the Roman republic and
founded the rule of the emperors. In this period Caesar used the problems to his advantage and created
his own supreme political and military power, gaining the trust of Rome and building his army. Caesar
is well known throughout the whole world as one of the most powerful and successful leaders that has
ever lived. In his young years, his father had a major impact on him, as he had political success, and
the family has a history in politics, which had helped Caesar in starting out in politics. Julius Caesar s
first important political success had occurred in 63b.c.e when Caesar was appointed the role of Chief
Religious office in Rome; this had set him up for future political roles. Caesar was very strategically
and had many tactics to how he would rule; he always wanted more glory and political and military
opportunities and would overcome all challenges he faced. In 59B.C.E Caesar won an election to
become consul, the senate then assigned him to lands that gave Caesar no opportunities for military
exaltation, as he did not want Caesar to succeed. Caesar realised he would need more allies to
overcome his opponents in the senate. He then formed the alliance that was known as the First
Triumvirate with the Roman General Pompey who brought wealth and military success. During
Caesar s rule he gained a lot of military success due to how he led his army
Military during Caesar s rule was a high contribution of his success. Military success was important to
Julius Caesar as it gave him wealth to succeed in Roman politics. It was important was important for
Caesar because it gives him enormous power in the military; this means his army would be big and
strong and would be able to protect Caesar. Success in a war gave Caesar more glory and brought
more wealth to him, and made Caesar rise more to fame. In Rome political success brought
opportunities for military command, as Julius Caesar already had much political power, his

Valerie Lake, an eighth grade English teacher, believes that the CC intensifies the complexity of what
the teachers have to teach, but realizes that her students can actually learn/understand more than what
we (teachers) think. On the other hand, this makes the students think more which in turn helps them
learn and apply their skills to the test. Another teacher states that the standards before did not make the
students think about why they do what they do in class. Overall, many teachers have their reasons to
why they like or dislike the standards; all in all, teachers are required to implement them in their

The Importance Of Strict Gun Control Laws
Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States yet in 2016 there were 762 gun related
homicides, 3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims. Despite strict gun laws Chicago had
one of the deadliest years in history, so are the laws really working? Strict gun control does not mean
that the amount of gun related crime will decrease. So, what is the point in making strict gun control
laws?
Gun control does not work. Chicago is a prime example of this, Chicago has some of the strictest laws
in America but led the country in gun violence in 2016. So why are the gun laws not working? For
starters criminals do not care about the laws, criminals break the laws and gun laws are just more laws
they will break. Once somebody decides they are going to commit a crime such as murder not having
a gun is going to stop the person from committing the murder that person will either possess a firearm
illegally or commit the crime without a gun. Trying to ban firearms is also likely to drastically
increase the black market or street value of the weapons since they will no longer be able to buy them
at a store, assuming that they would even be able to pass a background check to purchase it legally,
and most likely lead to even more crime. Between 2000 and 2013 the majority of active shooter
incidents in American was at schools, colleges, malls, and businesses. The people that go to schools
and businesses to commit murder usually want to commit a mass murder and kill as many innocent
people as they can before they get killed or kill themselves. Since they want mass casualties the
shooters do not want to be shot which is why they go where there are a lot of people and where there
are very few or nobody that is armed and prepared to defend themselves and others. Schools are often
a target of people who want to cause mass casualties since there is usually only one armed and ready
person on campus if that which often makes schools a desirable target, but what if all the faculty and
staff member at the school was trained and carrying a firearm then that would drastically decrease the
chances of somebody wanting to commit mass murder at a school since that person s odds of
murdering more than a one person

Oppression in Cuckoos Nest
frank C, Survey of Literature and Comp. Block 5 May 10, 2011 An Omnipresent Oppression
Oppression is an omnipresent force which has fed on ignorance and hatred and affected the lives of
the less fortunate and powerless. Through literature people are able to express their feelings and
attitudes regarding an amalgam of elements. An example of this exists in the two texts, One Flew Over
the Cuckoo s Nest, and The Life Your Save May Be Your Own; in both texts we see a clear correlation
between the plot events in the stories and the events that took place in American History to oppress
women and Native Americans. One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, and The Life You Save May Be

Nurse Ratched forced the patients to conform to her guidelines, such as when Chief was forced to
sweep rather than live freely as he pleased. Chief like Lucynell in The Life You Save May Be Your
Own, does not have a voice to express his feelings or thoughts. This lack off voice can be compared to
the Native Americans who were made by the federal government to give up their traditions of hunting
and gathering and forced to farm. Both the government and Nurse Ratched did not allow for any
intervening, and they forced upon their subjects a certain lifestyle. During the early twentieth century
women did not control their own lives, it was controlled by society and they were expected to conform
to society and follow its laws and patterns. In The Life You Save May Be Your Own, Women were
denied access to public power and the idea of women in the early 1900s was a perfect wife and
mother, thus leaving their lives to be run by men (Bruccoli 324). Women of this time were voiceless,
and this lack of voice is display in the story because Lucynell literally was a mute, and could not
speak. Lucynell s lack of a voice metaphorically represents the women who had no voice in the early
twentieth century whereas Mr.Shiftlet does have a voice; he represents the men during the

similarities and distinctions between the problems for frogs and koalas. As a matter of fact, there are
not too many similarities between the problems for these animals. Nonetheless, there is one major
thing that has caused both of these animals to be endangered species, and that one thing is the work of
humans. Without a doubt, humans specifically play a crucial role in killing off frogs and koalas around

Descriptive Essay About A Wedding
Growing up, one of my favorite movies to watch was Cinderella. It shows a classic fairy tale wedding
that almost every girl, including me, fantasizes about. Fortunately for me, I was given an opportunity
to be a part of one. It was 8 o clock in the morning on a fresh fall day. My mom and I arrived at Ulta
Beauty to meet with my sister to get our hair and makeup done. As soon as we walked in I could smell
the hairspray and saw all the makeup we had to choose from. I choose to do a classic bun with a braid
while my sister chose to do a loose bun with hair framing her face. For our makeup, we both chose to
do a classic fall, but light look. This consisted of using Clinique foundation with a light orange
eyeshadow and finishing the look with fake eyelashes. Our next task of the day was to meet at the
Best Western Hotel in New Ulm to get ready. I put on my bridesmaid dress and assisted my sister with
any final touch ups. She stepped into her cinderella, lace, full, cream colored ball gown and I laced her
up. My eyes have never seen anything more gorgeous than her. She glistened like snow on a sunny
day. To get more natural and clear looking photos, the wedding party headed downstairs to a room
with natural lighting to set up for pictures. Kara stood by the window while we all took turns fixing
her veil, or buttoning her dress, all while pictures were being taken. After an hour or so, we all made
our way down to German Park, where the wedding would take place. The park was

Essay on Investigate the Water Potential of Potato Cells
Investigate the Water Potential of Potato Cells
Introduction
In my investigation, I hope to determine the water potential of potato cells. The plant material I will
use in my investigation will be potato chips, which I will cut myself prior to the investigation.
I hope to find the concentration of a solution where the chip stays the same mass and length, which
will tell me that the water potential inside the cells is the same as the water potential outside the cells.
Background

membranes are permeable to water but impermeable to certain dissolved substances. In the case of this
experiment, the sucrose molecules cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will measure the length and cross sectional area for each chip.
o Time the chip is left in the solution I think that if I were to leave the chips in the solution for only a
small amount of time there might not be sufficient time for the osmosis to occur, so that the chips
would not differ in size enough for conclusive results. Therefore, I will need to give a good amount of
time for the osmosis to occur.
o Temperature I believe that all reactions happen quicker when there is a higher temperature, so
diffusion across the membrane may be faster at higher temperature.
o Concentration of sucrose solution I think that the lower the concentration of the external sucrose
solution, the more the chip will expand (because the cells become turgid).
o Total Volume of sucrose solution I think that changing the volume of sucrose solution may affect the
results of my investigation.
Variable I will change:
I will change the concentration of sucrose solution in my experiment, because I believe the results of
that experiment will tell me the water potential of the potato cells.

I will carry out all my experiments at the same temperature, 20°C, because that is room temperature,
and I will not have to heat up anything. I will cut my chips to the same dimensions every time, using a

The University Writing Center And The Academic Success Center
The University Writing Center (UWC) and the Academic Success Center (ASC) are two of the
university initiatives that help students enrich their academic experience. While UWC assists students
in improving their written and oral communication skills through one to one consulting sessions,
online resources, and workshops, ASC works to enhance students intellectual performance through
academic coaching, supplemental instruction, drop in tutoring sessions, and peer mentoring. Both of
the organizations take a collaborative learning approach to encourage students to develop necessary
study skills for academic success and increase student retention. ASC offers various student
development programs; however, our focus for this proposal will be on drop in tutoring services
offered by ASC.
The number of students using these campus resources is growing every semester. Although many
students on campus are willing to use these services, their availability is limited. Students are often
discouraged to use these resources due unavailability of appointments, and long wait times. In order to

Analysis Of Nothing Gold Can Stay By Jane Flanders
The world has several great poets and numerous mind blowing works, each with its own way of
portraying its own message using symbolism to represent lessons of everyday life. Jane Flanders
wrote the poem named Cloud Painter she shows the world from an artistic way, using a painter and his
canvas to help the reader picture the true meaning behind the words and images created. Robert Frost
takes on the same idea, but uses a less complex example so that it makes his work easy to understand
while not revealing the actual meaning of the poem. Frost and Flanders are just two of the many poets
that use nature as a way of explaining the very lessons in life. Each poet has a different way of
presenting similar images but from a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Flanders uses this line to represent the things opportunities in the world that are there and difficult to
get without giving up something in return. The special chances that are there from the start are often
not appreciated but the ones that have been worked for do not tend to lose their value over time.
Robert Frost on the other hand used a more fictional approach in Nothing Gold Can Stay . Nature s
first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold. This couplet has one key theme that not only lies in the
word choice but in the writing, itself. The start of spring is when all the new flowers blossom and the
leaves on trees become greener. The start of something fresh and lovely is the main point in this line
but this is also a way of saying that the best things that are free are given without any strings or
repercussions are taken advantage of. The next two lines Her early leaf s a flower; But only so an
hour. In other words, the possibilities that are given throughout life can also be taken away just as fast.
In Frost s poem, he uses the garden of Eden to help the reader to imagine where this idea is heading.
In the first sentence Frost states that Natures first green is gold this represents the very first blooming
of flowers and the return of the green leaves during the springtime which when applied to life, it

Correlation Between Mental Illness and Violence and Crime...
Literature Analysis and Research Proposal of the Correlation between Mental Illness and Violence and
Crime Over the past few decades, many researches have strived to test and explain the correlation
between violence and crime and mental illness. Moore and Hiday (2006) assert that up 22% of
inmates has a mental illness, sometimes containing more mental illness patients than many psychiatric
units. Due to these statistics it is evident how important it is to understand the causes of the
correlations between crime and violence and mental disorders. This proposal wishes to explain and

illnesses and violence and crime. Further research to test ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These theories strive to explain how these factors may have an influence of crime and mental illness.
Social Learning Theory and Mental Illness The Social Learning Theory strives to show how behaviors
are acquired and maintained through various techniques. According to this theory, three basic
constructs are apparent. Differential association explains that a person engages themselves in a group
that has an acceptance toward crime as a possible means of obtaining necessary life goals. People
engaged in these groups learn to view crime as either positive or negative. Differential reinforcement
explains how well the participation in crime is accepted and imitation is the final acceptance of the
crime by observing others and committing the crime as well. Applied to mental illness, individuals
with mental illness are more likely to be engaged with individuals of these ideals due to excessive
exposure from close contact in low socioeconomic areas. Social Stress and Mental Illness According
to the Social Stress Theory, crime and violence is related to the amount of stress felt in one s life.
Applied to mental health, it is proposed that mental illness will lead to stressful situations in life which
will in turn lead to crime and violence (Silver 2006). Stressful life events have shown a relation to an

How Did The Crusades Affect The Medieval World
IMPACT OF THE CRUSADES ON THE LATE MEDIEVAL WORLD. The Crusades greatly
impacted economic expansion as well as the expansion of Europe as a whole. Europe regained contact
with the outside world, and as it did so, trade with the Middle East, India, and China brought goods as
well as knowledge. Merchants in Italy converted the ships used to carry crusaders into trade ships that
would sail to the Middle East. The Crusaders introduced textiles, spices, foods products and many
more goods to the Europeans from the Middle East, and through all of this trade came the
development of a money economy. The crusaders brought works from Greek philosophers back to
Europe, where Muslim scholars translated them to Latin which prompted further learning in the West.

Christians were introduced to Arabic philosophy and science, and along with this came new religious
orders and practices. The church clashed with monarchs after their power increased, and after the
church did not reunite with the Byzantine empire, many started to question the church s motives. Now
that people had the knowledge and resources to read the bible, some felt as though this clashed with
the previous actions of the church. Although this seemed like a time for religious tolerance after such a
conflict fueled by faith, the Reconquista in Spain expelled Muslims out of Spain and those who did
not convert to Christianity were burned at the steak. The crusades set the foundation for the Age of
Exploration. While the Chinese had been traveling as far as Arabia and Africa since 618 AD, the
Crusades influenced nations such as Spain to explore new travel. The Spanish had become inspired to

Samuel Morse Accomplishments
Samuel Finley Breese Morse was an American painter and an inventor. After becoming a well known
portrait painter, in his middle age he contributed to the invention of a single wire telegraph system. He
was a co developer of the Morse code and helped to develop a commercial use of telegraphy.
Samuel Morse was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, being the first child of pastor Jedidiah Morse
who was a geographer and Elisabeth Ann Finley Morse. His father was a great preacher of the
calvinist faith and strongly believed in education within a Federalist framework, alongside the
instillation of Calvinist virtues, morals, and prayers for his first son. After attending Phillips academy

Samuel was then able to create a prototype of the telegraph. In 1836 others started working on the
invention. In 1838 Morse formed a partnership with fellow inventor Alfred Vail, who funded in the
invention and also helped with the dots and dashes for sending signals which is what we know as
morse code. Until 1842, when Morse gained the attention of Maine Congressman, Francis Ormand
Jonathan Smith. The same year Samuel attached two wires between two committee rooms in the
capitol and was able to send code back and forth. With the help of Smith, Samuel won $30,000 for the
demmonstration and to construct a 38 mile telegraph line between Washington D.C., Baltimore, and
Maryland. On May 24, 1844 Samuel tapped his first message which read What hath God wrought! .
Almost as soon as Morse received his patent for the telegraph in 1847, he was hit with litigious claims
from partners and rival inventors. The legal battles culminated in the U.S. Supreme Court decision O
Rielly v.s. Morse in 1854, that stated Morse had been the first to develop a workable telegraph. In
spite of the court s clear ruling, Morse received no official recognition from the U.S.

The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf
The purpose of a lighthouse is to serve as a navigational aid to shores or ports and to warn boats of
dangerous areas. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf is a novel that teaches how one person can
affect the lives of people around them by, in a sense, shining a light on the person s specific traits. In
the novel, Mrs. Ramsay is one of the main characters that unfortunately does not make it to the end of
the story, but her presence is shadowed throughout the novel where she is not there physically.
Virginia Woolf used the lighthouse as analogy for Mrs. Ramsay s existence in the first part of the book
and after her death during the third section of the book. Mrs. Ramsay s death allows the reader to
realize that she is the lighthouse that highlights and unifies her family and all the guests during the
time spent together at the Ramsay s summer home. Though Mrs. Ramsay was the conjoining light that
brought people together, Woolf decides to kill Mrs. Ramsay in part two of the novel. During the
moments of Mrs. Ramsay lighting, Woolf incorporates dark thoughts that expresses a different side to
the novel. Bitter and black, half way down, in the darkness, in the shaft which ran from the sunlight to
the depths, perhaps a tear formed; a tear fell... (p.32). Woolf is reflecting on her perception of death
and how she dealt with the thoughts of killing herself. As for Woolf s own death, she left her house
leaving behind a note to Vanessa Bell, her sister, and a note to Leonard Woolf,

Essay On How Hormones Can Affect A Woman s Behavior
How Hormones Can Affect A Woman s Moods
Women have a relatively unique hormonal system when compared to men. Men have a relatively
static hormone system with stable levels of pituitary and gonadal hormones throughout their daily
lives, suffering from decreasing levels of testosterone after the age of 30 40. Usually this gradual
change does not markedly affect male mood.
Women, on the other hand, spend much of their reproductive lives with a cyclical pattern of hormones
that change on a day to day basis. The cycle repeats itself every month and the fluctuations alone can
contribute to changes in everyday mood.
In the beginning of the cycle, the LH and FSH levels are low. The FSH gradually rises in order to

If the symptoms are relatively mild, she can take vitamins, eat healthy, and exercise in order to
improve many of the mood symptoms. If the symptoms are severe and a woman does not wish to
become pregnant, oral contraceptives can even out the symptoms. Still other women see their doctor
and get prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs like Prozac, Lexapro, or Celexa.
These can reduce many of the emotional symptoms so typical of having PMDD or even milder
premenstrual symptoms.
Hyperthyroid Conditions
Women are at a higher risk of hypothyroid or hyperthyroid conditions when compared to men. This
means they have a higher risk of these hormonally related conditions affecting mood and outlook on
life. Hypothyroidism is much more common than hyperthyroidism but both syndromes can lead to
mood disorders and mental symptoms.
In hypothyroidism, the main mood symptoms include the following:
Depressive symptoms
Tiredness or fatigue even when getting enough sleep at night.
Difficulty sleeping
If the woman has hyperthyroidism, she likely

they adored him from saving cubans from the corrupt dictator that U.S. backed up. Castro turned out

Measuring And Collecting The Right Measurement For Study
The credibility of a study as evidence for practice is almost entirely dependent on identifying,
measuring and collecting the right measurement for study (Houser, 2015). Having a reliable
measurement strategy is critical for good evidence. It is this evidence that research requires
determining if and what identification of the measurement objective and measurement strategies can
be accurate and straightforward, as when we measure concrete factors, such as a person s weight or
waist circumference (Grove, Burns Gray, 2013, p. 382). Levels of Measurement Variables The

Business Process Of Small Business
Introduction The process of small business creation requires that entrepreneurs engage significant
analysis and planning. There are many considerations that a potential small business owner must make
to ensure that they are making not only the best decisions for the business itself, but for them as
individuals. Entrepreneurs must identify things such as the product(s) and/or service(s) they wish to
offer to their customers, how they will market their offerings, where they will locate their business,
how they will manage that business, etc. All of these elements play a critical role in the successful
operations and profit earning capabilities of the businesses. This paper sets out to identify the factors
an entrepreneur must consider when deciding on the ownership model for the business. It will then
examine the advantages and disadvantages of starting a business through franchising. Lastly, this
paper will examine the criteria an entrepreneur should evaluate before purchasing an existing
business.
List several factors an entrepreneur should consider before choosing a form of ownership?
One of the most significant decisions an entrepreneur will make will center on the ownership of their
organization (Scarborough Cornwall, 2014, p. 138). This organizational component is crucial to the
successful operation of the business and as such, there are a number of considerations entrepreneurs
must make when selecting the appropriate ownership model of their small business. The

Love and relationships in modern society means a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In
my views, it is an intense affectionate concern or an intense sexual desire for another person. It is a
term of endearment and a strong fondness or enthusiasm for something. A stereotypical view of
contemporary love exists, which is based principally on gender, social class and race. In Love
Actually, Huge Grant, who is the prime minister, falls in love with his secretary; Martine McCutcheon.
This contrasts with the stereotype regarding social background, as Huge Grant is of a much higher
status than Martine McCutcheon in the film. The title of the film automatically reveals various types
of love, with the emphasis on actually. I think this suggests that the views of love and relationships
portrayed in the film are the views of contemporary love. In the title of the film, Love Actually, the
word Love is highlighted in bold and is red. Stereotypically, red is the colour of love, which is
probably why this colour was used. The soundtracks for both trailers are very different. The first
trailer consists of slow and romantic music, which suggests that it is a film targeted at couples or older

Ethical Issues With Animal Testing
More than 115 million animals are used each year for testing (Akhtar). The act of testing on live
animals for the purpose of scientific research is called vivisection. According to a nationwide survey
of biology educators commissioned by NAVS in 2014, the use of animals as dissection specimens in
biology classrooms remains a prevalent practice in the United States, with 84% of pre college biology
educators reporting the use of dissection as a teaching tool. The use of vivisection is carried out in
middle schools, high schools, and universities. Animals are also used in testing for cosmetics, tox
screenings, and xenotransplantation, a process of transplanting organs or tissues between different
species . Many creatures around the world are forced into a life in cage where they obliged to endure
painful tests. Along with the pain caused by scientists, many of the drugs that prove to be successful in
animals aren t in humans. Aside from all, animals do have the right to not be harmed although the
Animal Welfare Act doesn t provide much protection. Our country s law refuses to find it necessary to
use alternative methods which are also obtainable. Animal testing should be outlawed due to animal
rights, ethical issues, alternative ways and its unreliability.
First of all, testing on animals must be outlawed in order to protect the rights of animals. Their rights
are infringed by endless experimenting. We may not believe this but animals and humans are alike in
more than one way.

Machiavelli s Battles
In The Prince, Machiavelli uses many examples of battles and people to emphasize and illustrate his
points. He exalts some as examples of great leadership, and condemns others for their mistakes and
imperfections. Machiavelli, in the Prince, praises Philip of Macedon for fighting to hold onto his
country, and for holding onto most of his kingdom even after surrendering a few cities to Rome. His
purpose in doing this was to provide an example of a prince that did the opposite of the princes of
Italy, and to further reprimand the princes of Italy for allowing their kingdom to slip through their
fingers. And yet, Machiavelli only speaks on Philip s last war, and praises only his preparedness to go
to war, not mentioning the amount of power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If Machiavelli were to place as much or more importance on the outcomes of a decision than the
theory a decision was made on, much of his novel would be different. For example, he would not have
praised Cesare Borgia, for although his theory was sound he was unable to adapt to changing
circumstances and was thus deposed. In the case of Philip V of Macedon, however, Machiavelli s
words may have been words of caution instead of outright condemnation had he placed any emphasis
upon the outcome of rule. It is clear that becoming too complacent is certainly no good for a prince,
and will almost certainly result in a dead or overthrown prince, and that is what Machiavelli
admonished the princes of Italy for. Philip of Macedon s excessive paranoia, however, may have been
his downfall. While it is true that it is impossible to ascertain exactly how Rome would have reacted
had Philip been more willing to compromise instead of outright attack the greater, and fast growing,
power, it seems fairly safe to say Philip may have lived out the rest of his days in greater peace and
perhaps sustained his line for much longer had he not been so quick to antagonize the Romans.
Therefore, had Machiavelli looked at Philip s rule in a more objective light, unskewed by the anger he
held towards the princes of Italy for letting their kingdom fall, this

Valerie Lake, an eighth grade English teacher, believes that the CC intensifies the complexity of what the teachers have to teach, but realizes that her students can actually learn/understand more than what we (teachers) think. On the other hand, this makes the students think more which in turn helps them learn and apply their skills to the test. • 9. The Importance Of Strict Gun Control Laws Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States yet in 2016 there were 762 gun related homicides, 3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims. Despite strict gun laws Chicago had one of the deadliest years in history, so are the laws really working? Strict gun control does not mean that the amount of gun related crime will decrease. So, what is the point in making strict gun control laws? Gun control does not work. Chicago is a prime example of this, Chicago has some of the strictest laws in America but led the country in gun violence in 2016. So why are the gun laws not working? For starters criminals do not care about the laws, criminals break the laws and gun laws are just more laws they will break. Once somebody decides they are going to commit a crime such as murder not having a gun is going to stop the person from committing the murder that person will either possess a firearm illegally or commit the crime without a gun. Trying to ban firearms is also likely to drastically increase the black market or street value of the weapons since they will no longer be able to buy them at a store, assuming that they would even be able to pass a background check to purchase it legally, and most likely lead to even more crime. Between 2000 and 2013 the majority of active shooter incidents in American was at schools, colleges, malls, and businesses. The people that go to schools and businesses to commit murder usually want to commit a mass murder and kill as many innocent people as they can before they get killed or kill themselves. Since they want mass casualties the shooters do not want to be shot which is why they go where there are a lot of people and where there are very few or nobody that is armed and prepared to defend themselves and others. Schools are often a target of people who want to cause mass casualties since there is usually only one armed and ready person on campus if that which often makes schools a desirable target, but what if all the faculty and staff member at the school was trained and carrying a firearm then that would drastically decrease the chances of somebody wanting to commit mass murder at a school since that person s odds of murdering more than a one person ... After becoming a well known portrait painter, in his middle age he contributed to the invention of a single wire telegraph system. On May 24, 1844 Samuel tapped his first message which read What hath God wrought! . Almost as soon as Morse received his patent for the telegraph in 1847, he was hit with litigious claims from partners and rival inventors. The legal battles culminated in the U.S. Supreme Court decision O Rielly v.s. Morse in 1854, that stated Morse had been the first to develop a workable telegraph. • 28. The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf The purpose of a lighthouse is to serve as a navigational aid to shores or ports and to warn boats of dangerous areas. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf is a novel that teaches how one person can affect the lives of people around them by, in a sense, shining a light on the person s specific traits. In the novel, Mrs. Ramsay is one of the main characters that unfortunately does not make it to the end of the story, but her presence is shadowed throughout the novel where she is not there physically. Virginia Woolf used the lighthouse as analogy for Mrs. Ramsay s existence in the first part of the book and after her death during the third section of the book. Mrs. Ramsay s death allows the reader to realize that she is the lighthouse that highlights and unifies her family and all the guests during the time spent together at the Ramsay s summer home. Though Mrs. Ramsay was the conjoining light that brought people together, Woolf decides to kill Mrs. Ramsay in part two of the novel. During the moments of Mrs. Ramsay lighting, Woolf incorporates dark thoughts that expresses a different side to the novel. Bitter and black, half way down, in the darkness, in the shaft which ran from the sunlight to the depths, perhaps a tear formed; a tear fell... (p.32). Woolf is reflecting on her perception of death and how she dealt with the thoughts of killing herself. As for Woolf s own death, she left her house leaving behind a note to Vanessa Bell, her sister, and a note to Leonard Woolf, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Men have a relatively static hormone system with stable levels of pituitary and gonadal hormones throughout their daily lives, suffering from decreasing levels of testosterone after the age of 30 40. Usually this gradual change does not markedly affect male mood. Women, on the other hand, spend much of their reproductive lives with a cyclical pattern of hormones that change on a day to day basis. Love and relationships in modern society means a strong positive emotion of regard and affection. In my views, it is an intense affectionate concern or an intense sexual desire for another person. It is a term of endearment and a strong fondness or enthusiasm for something. A stereotypical view of contemporary love exists, which is based principally on gender, social class and race. In Love Actually, Huge Grant, who is the prime minister, falls in love with his secretary; Martine McCutcheon. This contrasts with the stereotype regarding social background, as Huge Grant is of a much higher status than Martine McCutcheon in the film. The title of the film automatically reveals various types of love, with the emphasis on actually. I think this suggests that the views of love and relationships portrayed in the film are the views of contemporary love. In the title of the film, Love Actually, the word Love is highlighted in bold and is red. Stereotypically, red is the colour of love, which is probably why this colour was used. According to a nationwide survey of biology educators commissioned by NAVS in 2014, the use of animals as dissection specimens in biology classrooms remains a prevalent practice in the United States, with 84% of pre college biology educators reporting the use of dissection as a teaching tool. The use of vivisection is carried out in middle schools, high schools, and universities. Animals are also used in testing for cosmetics, tox screenings, and xenotransplantation, a process of transplanting organs or tissues between different species . Many creatures around the world are forced into a life in cage where they obliged to endure painful tests. Aside from all, animals do have the right to not be harmed although the Animal Welfare Act doesn t provide much protection. He exalts some as examples of great leadership, and condemns others for their mistakes and imperfections. Machiavelli, in the Prince, praises Philip of Macedon for fighting to hold onto his country, and for holding onto most of his kingdom even after surrendering a few cities to Rome. His purpose in doing this was to provide an example of a prince that did the opposite of the princes of Italy, and to further reprimand the princes of Italy for allowing their kingdom to slip through their fingers. If Machiavelli were to place as much or more importance on the outcomes of a decision than the theory a decision was made on, much of his novel would be different. For example, he would not have praised Cesare Borgia, for although his theory was sound he was unable to adapt to changing circumstances and was thus deposed. In the case of Philip V of Macedon, however, Machiavelli s words may have been words of caution instead of outright condemnation had he placed any emphasis upon the outcome of rule. It is clear that becoming too complacent is certainly no good for a prince, and will almost certainly result in a dead or overthrown prince, and that is what Machiavelli admonished the princes of Italy for. Philip of Macedon s excessive paranoia, however, may have been his downfall. While it is true that it is impossible to ascertain exactly how Rome would have reacted had Philip been more willing to compromise instead of outright attack the greater, and fast growing, power, it seems fairly safe to say Philip may have lived out the rest of his days in greater peace and perhaps sustained his line for much longer had he not been so quick to antagonize the Romans.
