2. Antisemitism The Holocaust
The Holocaust started because of ingrained antisemitism both in Germany and the countries it
conquered, compounded by propaganda and the encouragement and leadership of political leaders. It
also started because the passive and active perpetrators held deep animosity towards the Jewish people
ingrained by almost 2000 years of antisemitism in Christian teachings‚ which made them receptive to
the message of the Nazis, and which made the idea of eliminating and exterminating Jews reasonable
and indeed desirable.
The Holocaust was undertaken by Adolph Hitler to extinguish an entire race, the Jewish People.
Similarly, for the past five years, four million Syrian refugees have been displaced and in need of new
residential areas while more than 11.6 million people have been affected by the civil war in Syria.
Like in the Holocaust, the Roma, physically and mentally disabled, communists and homosexuals
were targeted; not just the Jewish population. Both events demonstrate the inhumanity of our times

Prior to his upbringing and continuing, anti Semitism propaganda was abundant in production.
Nonetheless, Hitler established a Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda headed by
Joseph Goebbels. The Ministry s aim was to ensure the Nazi s anti semitic message was successfully
spread through any mode of communication. The propaganda reignited the resentment and underlying
hatred inside every German through the exploitation of anti semetic myths entrenched in the European
culture for generations. Propaganda also encouraged passivity and acceptance of the impending
measures against Jews, as these appeared to depict the Nazi government restoring

His divergence from typical dance technique has allowed for him to become a worldwide success

4. 2 Personal Goals
Introduction I will be exploring and distinguishing two personal goals and two professional goals in
relation to developing a strong and resilient mind. We will find methods that would help achieve these
goals. We will be creating scenarios that for each personal goal established and what method used to
achieve that goal.
First personal goal is to pay more attention and ask questions if I do not hear correctly. I may seem bit
off in my own world to say the least but it is nothing of the sort. I do listen; however, I do not always
hear them due to my bad hearing from military service. I do not like annoying people by asking them
to repeat themselves, so I try to simply wing it when possible.

I must be on my game in relation to the details of the project. There is one additional artist who fails to

Instead of being easily overwhelmed and anxious, I step back and reassess the situation. I breath,
smile, and simply correct the issue before the passing deadline comes. By doing this, I come across
grounded, professional, and dealt the situation in a positive manner.
Second professional goal would be more mindful and understanding to the client when trying the
understand there needs. Being a retired graphic shop team leader, I had to deal directly with clients
and try to understand their needs. At times this was no easy task, for a client may not always know
what he/she may want. This can be truly confusing and even annoying.
Methods would be to practice mindfulness, be positive, and gradually offer ideas to him/her to help
the process be easier for both parties (Mercola, 2013). It seems to be easier for the client to deal with a
more laid back, positive, and more mindful representative, for he/she may not know much of anything

5. How Legionnaire s Disease Is An Important Public Health...
Introduction
Legionnaire s disease is an important public health problem that can cause substantial morbidity and
mortality.1 This bacterial infection is caused primarily by the gram negative bacteria, Legionella
pneumophila, found in freshwater environments throughout the world. 2, 3
Legionnaires disease was initially described in 1976, after a major respiratory outbreak among
attendees of an American Legion convention.4 L. pneumophila causes a severe inflammatory
pneumonia that primarily affects susceptible patients as a result of advanced age, underlying
debilitating conditions or immunosuppression.5 Environmental risk factors such as cooling towers or

11Macrolides, doxycycline, and quinolones are the most commonly prescribed effective antibiotics,
and preventive measures have been widely adopted in public and private institutions. 12
Public health efforts have largely focused on the identification of outbreaks of legionellosis, followed
by investigation and source control. The recent outbreak in the city of New York has emphasized the
need to recognize Legionnaires disease as a common community and hospital acquired pneumonia.
Health care workers should have a high clinical suspicion of L. pneumophila in any patient with
unexplained pneumonia and risk factors for Legionnaire s disease. Routine testing has been
discouraged for all outpatients with community acquired pneumonia and further testing should be
assessed on a case by case basis. This review summarizes the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis
and management of Legionnaires disease. A better understanding of the risks associated with
Legionnaires disease would allow state and local entities to better target preventive measures and
improve clinician awareness.

9. Rhetorical Analysis Of Gatorade s The Secret To Victory
Gatorade s most recent commercial, The Secret to Victory, focuses on defeat to help make their
advertisement effective. The commercial starts out with Michael Jordan, a star basketball player, who
asks, You want to know the secret to victory? This bold question grabs the attention of the audience.
The commercial continues with many star athletes, present and past, that state a time where they failed
in their respective careers. Later on, NFL quarterback Matt Ryan, answers Jordan s proposed question
with defeat, after a scene of him losing in the Super Bowl. In this essay, I will argue that Gatorade s
The Secret to Victory commercial is very effective by using rhetorical components and focusing on
defeat. The target audience for Gatorade is for athletes, but this commercial does a great job of
reaching out to a wide range of athletes. The advertisement targets athletes of the older generation,
along with athletes that are young. Gatorade uses two retired players, Peyton Manning and Michael
Jordan, along with two players nearing the end of their careers, Eli Manning and Serena Williams, and
three players that are currently in their prime, Kyle Schwarber, Matt Ryan, and Karl Anthony Towns.

realized that taking my path would show others how being faithful towards a goal made life easier for
me to follow God. In order for Christian to reach the Palace Beautiful, he has to climb the Hill of
Difficulty. In the same way, I had to focus on my faith in order to become stronger person of God.
Similarly, Christian discusses how the better way to go was the most difficult way versus the two other
easy, but deathly paths: Better, though difficult, the Right Way to go, Than Wrong, though easy, where

12. Seven Against Thebes Analysis
Within Suppliants there are many points to be made regarding the Us Against the World topic for this
course. When the Danaids arrived in Argos they were faced with the potential consequences for being
refugees.Upon their arrival, they had informed Pelasgos and the Argives of their shared ancestry with
Io, one of Zeus s many affairs, a fact that would prove to be a useful tool in the future. Pelasgos and
the Argives are given the unsure task of giving the daughters sanctuary in their town. The host versus
guest relationship plays a large part in this, so that Zeus, the deity of hospitality, would punish those
who do not take in the genuinely vulnerable or otherwise defenseless beings. These consequences
made the decision to help the ladies take refuge because the growth and general knowledge spread that
they were also Io s descendants. These two tools, or resources per se, were most valuable in bringing
the Danaids to safety. While reading Seven Against Thebes, one may think about how one man is
pinned against the world out of his own greed. Eteocles, one of two princes of Thebes, was put in
charge first to rule the city. He used his talent of quick wit to alter the rules as he saw fit and swing the

Introduction
As an aspiring Architectural Technologist I will be expected to possess a variety of skills which are
valuable for any Architectural Technologist position. I will be studying and evaluating a building
design of the Engineering and Computing Building, Coventry. I am to assess the structure, identifying,
why the building was designed in the way it was, the impact, challenges and purposes. This will allow
me to understand the integration of architectural and structural design.
1.1 Design philosophy and aesthetics
The Engineering and Computing Building (ECB) was designed by Arup Associates and built by main
contractor Vinci. In designing this building Arup Associates were trying to create a sustainable
postmodern building, which would become a flagship for the university and a landmark in the centre
of the city. Designed to meet the university s long term needs in terms of improving the student
learning experience, using the building as a learning tool in itself.
The 15,000m² building is enclosed in a square, split into two L shaped blocks. Linked together by a
glazed entrance at the corner and separated by a large gap on the opposite corner.
The L block facing the south and west has been configured as the Nature block. This four storey
Nature wing features a green and blue roof planted with foliage, providing a variety of habitats to
encourage the local wildlife. Well known to attract insects that pipistrelle bats are known to prefer.

14. The Role Of Women In A Streetcar Named Desire
The role of women in the 1950 was seen to be repressive and constrictive in many ways. Society
placed high importance and many expectations for these women on behavior at home as well as in
public. Women were supposed to fulfil certain roles, such as a caring mother, a diligent homemaker,
and an obedient wife. The perfect mother was supposed to stay home and nurture so society would
accept them. In fact, even if a woman wanted to voice an opinion, her lack of education would not
allow it . The play A Streetcar Named Desire is set during the late 1940 s and early 1950 s period
where it describes the decline of a fading Southern belle named Blanche DuBois. The women in this
play are represented to be dependent and submissive in nature and in addition they are also seen to be

Introduction
A swimming pool is one of the main factors for almost everyone in summer. Swimming pools can be
either built above or below ground and can be constructed from many different materials. However for
a pool to be safe to swim in, the water must maintain low levels of bacteria and viruses to avoid the
spread of diseases and pathogens. If a pool is not properly sanitised, then it will become unsafe and
unhygienic to use. If a pool were to be sanitised correctly, then the water will be kept at a correct pH
level. The pH levels of a pool are one of the most important elements when looking at how to
maintain a safe pool. It affects every other chemical balance in the pool water, however on a hot
summer day in Brisbane, how does the sunlight affect the chlorine levels of the pool? How does this
affect the pH levels? How does this UV light affect the equilibriums in a pool? What systems are there
in a pool? pH of the Swimming Pool
The sunlight in Brisbane is a very vital factor in pool equilibrium, as the sunlight breaks down the
chlorine in the pool. However this breakdown of chlorine is indirect. This occurs due to the fact that

Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgery is one of the most mediatic specialties, however, it
remains without a completely adequate definition. McCarthy, a professor at New York University,
considers it a problem solving specialty, since it is not restricted by an organ system, pathology or

Although it is commonly associated with cosmetic surgery, the origin of this specialty lies in its
reconstructive aspect. Therefore, I chose to explore this aspect and, since% of the patients submitted to

importance for the woman as the breast.

reconstruction, according to the type of technique used, into the following categories: implant

In 2013, 289 000 women died during pregnancy and childbirth and it was estimated that everyday 800
women all over the world died from childbirth or childbirth related problems (World Health
Organization, 2014). Often, maternal mortality is found to occur more often in developing countries
than developed countries. Maternal mortality refers women who died from the situation like during
pregnancy, termination of pregnancy within 42 days, regardless of duration and place of pregnancy,
from aggravation caused by the pregnancy or pregnancy management (Nwagha et al, 2010). Maternal
mortality may be resulted from direct or indirect cause. Direct causes are from obstetric complications
of pregnancy, labour, and puerperium, and interventions whereas indirect causes are from the
worsening of current conditions by pregnancy or delivery (Givewell, 2009). This paper aims to
examine the causes for maternal mortality in both developed and developing countries and will end
with a proposal for government to ensure women are given reproductive health rights.
Developed countries

U.S. is experiencing a rise in maternal mortality. It has doubled for the last 25 years and the experts
are uncertain about the increase. Experts are not entirely clear for the rise in the maternal deaths in the

bills that were brought up for discussion happened to work out to where I agree with, and voted on,

The hardest part about Mock Congress was getting in front of the class and saying my speech. I am

easiest part about Mock Congress was probably listening and voting on other bills. The part I enjoyed

PepsiCo is also a leading worldwide beverage company, but they are also the parent company of the
Frito Lay and Quaker Oats Companies. This makes PepsiCo a leader in the beverage, snack and cereal
industries. As consumers, we have indulged in their products for many years. My personal preference
has always been Pepsi over Coke, which is why I was very interested in conducting this analysis.
Regardless of the results, I will always seek out a Diet Pepsi over a Diet Coke and so will many of my
physician friends at Children s Hospital who start their mornings with a Diet Pepsi. These personal
preferences are what contributes to a company s profits through net sales. However, the key
performance measurement tools used are not based on sales alone. Calculating liquidity, solvency, and
profitability ratios on a regular basis give us a better insight on the performance and overall health of a
company. Coca Cola vs. PepsiCo Liquidity
Liquidity ratios measure the short term ability of a company to pay its obligations and meet their
needs for maintaining cash. According to Cagle, Campbell Jones (2013), A good assessment of a
company s liquidity is important because a decline in liquidity leads to a greater risk of bankruptcy (p.
44). Creditors, investors and analysts alike are all interested in a company s liquidity. After computing

21. Adolf Hitler s Machiavellian Strategy Essay
Adolf Hitler s Machiavellian Strategy
Machiavelli s The Prince outlines tactics for a leader to seize and maintain lands under his power. His
tactics have been demonstrated repeatedly throughout history, and though his approach is hardly
ethical or idealistic, one cannot deny the fact that it has proved to be effective. Hitler is an example
that exemplifies the accuracy of what Machiavelli said would bring success in the acquisition of new
provinces. One topic Machiavelli focuses on, especially in Part II, are different types of troops. Had he
seen Hitler s army, he would have classified the troops as native, and would have applauded Hitler s
choice in troops over mercenary (men who fight for money,) auxiliary (foreign ... Show more content

Furthermore it contained people from various religions, including Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, and
atheists, such as communists. Hitler had built the support of an entire nativist Nazi army over the years
with the Beer Hall Putsch, his book Mein Kampf, a book that narrates his struggle in Germany, and his
tremendous oratory skills. Using this army he was able to bully his way into a dictatorial position and
dissolve the Reichstag, eliminating the last bit of democratic government left in Germany. Once in
power, he was able to successfully stay in power by using the guidelines given in The Prince. The
work acknowledges that mixed principalities are of the more difficult to control. To hold such a land
in your power, you must first extinguish the line of princes (15). In Hitler s case, the princes meant
anyone who had any sort of political power in Germany, and he was swift and efficient in killing them,
and outlawing their political parties. Machiavelli also said it is better not to share power, and Hitler
followed this by killing all those in his own Nazi party that had any sort of power, including his whole
elite blackshirt army. The final, and most important issue of maintaining a mixed principality is the
use of force and strict policies, which Hitler used without fail.

22. Anchor Analysis
This article will discuss how to create anchors using various techniques. An anchor is a trigger that
sets off an emotional cascade in you. Anchors can create good emotions and bad emotions. The
principle is one of association. If we associate a certain trigger with a certain emotion then we are
almost sure to get the same response every time. You may have heard of a very famous experiment by
Ivan Pavlov on the emotional conditioning of dogs. If you have not heard of it, I would suggest that
you type it into Google and read about the experiment. This experiment demonstrated that it was
possible to create a predetermined emotional response with a trigger or anchor (in this case a ringing
bell) provided that the subject (the dog) was pre conditioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Each and every one of us has anchors programmed in us. The problem is that most of us are not aware
that these anchors exist or the effect that they have on us as individuals. Anchors can take shape in
many different forms. They can be anchors based on sight, sound, touch or any other of the senses. It
would be easier to give a specific example. Let us assume that ten years ago you attended the funeral
of an aunt of yours who you loved very much. During the funeral, they burnt incense as part of the
ceremony. You were obviously in a state of high emotional turmoil. You breathed in the incense with
its distinctive smell. Ten years later you pass a shop on your way to work. You notice that there is
something about the shop that makes you feel very low but you can t figure out exactly what is
causing you to feel that way. After all, it is a wonderful day in summer and you have your vacation to
look forward to. Without you consciously realising it, that shop is actually burning the same brand of
incense that was at your aunt s funeral. The smell that you are taking in is triggering a subconscious
reaction to the emotions that you experienced at your aunt s funeral. Even after ten years, you still
experience the same emotions again. The anchor is the smell of the incense and the outcome is the low
mood that you experienced as a

sixth with in eight years. Phil Jackson coached some of the best basketball players, such as Scottie
Pippen, Dennis Rodman and even Michael Jordan! Each of those three players and the coach are in
the Hall of Fame today, including the assistant coach Tex Winter during the 97 98 season (1997 98

Nerves bubbled in my stomach as we waited for the plane to take off. Every other student in year eight
buzzed with chatter, while Mr. Whitelock took attendance. It was announced two weeks ago that the
Eton Boys Boarding School, along with many other schools, would be traveling overseas to escape
from possible atomic warfare. This information didn t set in my mind till about two days before the
flight; I was moving away from my home and the only life I knew.
Russell Grohmann, Mr. Whitelock called interrupting my previous thoughts.
Here, I uttered back.
After attendance, the flight attendant came out and gave us safety procedures.
During the flight please keep your seat buckled until told otherwise and in case of emergency an
oxygen mask will come down from above your seats. Before helping anyone else, please, secure your
own mask. Thank you. she stated in a monotone voice, then walked to the back of the plane.
The plane took off and William, who constantly picked on my at school for both my appearance and
diction, decided to spark up a conversation.
Hey Piggy, how do you feel about the move? he asked bitterley, I ve heard Australia is amazing.
I m glad that we are moving to a safer place, but Australia is over 9,000 miles away and will be a huge

Mental Retardation is an old fashioned term for people who have problems learning and developing,
but is defined as a disability characterized by significant limitations both in intellectual functioning
and behaviors in expressing conceptual, social and practical skills in approximately one to three
percent of the United States (Sue, Sue, Stanley, 2010). Mental retardation is categorized by the DSM
IV TR as being a genetic disorder usually first diagnosed in infancy, childhood or adolescence, and is

and flexible joints (NIH, 2012). Learning is difficult for people with Fragile X Syndrome because the

issues to severe developmental disability (NIH, 2012). Other characteristics include behavioral, social
and emotional problems including anxiety in new situations, problems making eye contact, attention
disorders and aggresive behavior (NIH, 2012). Speech, and language problems also exist with Fragile
X Syndrome, including trouble speaking clearly, stuttering, speech may come later than others their
age, few may never speak. Lastly, many children with Fragile X Syndrome have sensory issues and
can be bothered by bright lights, loud noises, or the way clothing feels on their skin, which can cause
the child to act out (Sue, Sue, Stanley, 2010).
Down Syndrome is a condition caused by the presecnce of an extra chromosome called trisomy 21
(t21), which is a non sex chromosome and results in mental retardation and distinct physical
characteristics (Sue, Sue, Stanley, 2010). Trisomy 21 means that each cell in the body has three copies
of the chromosome 21, instead of the normal 2 copies received, one from each parent (NLM, 2012).

The Haudenosaunee had a complex political system. It had four levels, the first one being kinship and
residence. Basically the family, lineage and clan. The second was that of the town which was
governed independently. The third was a combination of towns that formed a Nation. The last one was
that all Nations joined the larger League. The League was divided into two halves, they followed the
Great Law of Peace constitution and consisted of 50 sachem (a named office) positions.
The primary social unit was the matrilineage. Power descended from the mother s side. Related
nuclear families lived together and led by the eldest female. Women owned land and controlled the
distribution of resources. They also had a class system and the upper class was made up of lineages,
chiefs and clan elders. The lower class were slaves and captives. The middle class were in between.
Division of labor was determined by sex. Men hinted, fished and conducted war and women collected
plant food, cooked, maintained the household. The Haudenosaunee also had several societies such as
the Medicine and False Face societies to name a few.
The two major economic pursuits were agriculture and hunting. Excess food was stored for later use.

28. Symbols In John Irving s A Prayer For Owen Meany
There are numerous symbols that John Irving incorporated into A Prayer for Owen Meany. While
some symbols only appear in the novel once, other symbols happen to recur throughout the novel.
Such recurring symbols are the several manifestations of armless figures, which are Tabby s
dressmaker s dummy, the armadillo, and the statue of Mary Magdalene. The most significant
manifestation of the armless figures is Tabby s dressmaker s dummy since its symbolism of Tabby
primarily contributes to the reader s understanding of Owen s belief that he was God s instrument, as
well as the overall theme of predestination. Tabby s dressmaker s dummy was first introduced in
chapter three, The Angel . One of the first things that John reveals about it ... Show more content on

According to John, the dressmaker s dummy was an exact replica of Tabby s body, therefore it can be
assumed that it symbolizes Tabby herself. Tabby is significant to the novel because she contributes to
the reader s understanding of Owen s belief that he was God s instrument. The novel circulates around
Owen s belief that he was God s instrument and the accident involving Tabby s death emphasized this
belief, thus enabling readers to really grasp what Owen meant by being God s instrument. Since
disturbing the angel, Owen felt it was his destiny to aid in Tabby s death, thus aiding in an act that
God destined to happen. Owen saw the accident as God acting through him to make the task happen,
which is exactly what Owen means by being God s instrument. Tabby s character also contributes to
the overall theme of predestination because her death is what Owen believed was supposed to happen,
that s why he didn t feel guilty about the baseball striking her left temple. Furthermore, the
armlessness of the dressmaker s dummy foreshadows to Owen s predestined death when he loses his
arms by the grenade.Without Tabby s presence in the novel, Owen s poof for being God s instrument
and his belief in predestination would not be visible to the others living in Gravesend, including John.

The Prolonged Identity Crisis Economic Difference of East and West Germany
In February of 1945, the Nazi Germans got defeated and soon surrendered to the allied powers.
Germany s nation was split between the four allied powers: United States, Great Britain, Soviet
Union, and France. In addition, the capital city of Berlin was also divided amongst the Allied Powers
into four sections. However, tensions among the Western Powers and Soviet Union caused a shift into
a Cold War. In 1949, Germany and the city of Berlin got divided into two nations in which became
known as the West and East Germany. West Germany is known as the Federal Republic of Germany
(FRG) and is supported by the three Western Powers. East Germany is known as the German
Democratic Republic (GDR) and is governed by the Soviet Union. The Western Powers and the Soviet
Union created different philosophy within the territories that they governed. Each of the territory has
its own identity, economy outlook, and lifestyle.
East Germany and West Germany struggles to identify their social identity because of the
reconstruction of the German society guided by the Western Powers and Soviet Union. The GDR was
closely monitored by the Soviets and FRG was overseen by the Western Powers. As tensions increased
more and more during the Cold War, the major powers sought to form a national identity to the divide

good. In Lord of the Flies The shore was fledged with palm trees. These stood or leaned or reclined
against the light and their green feathers were a hundred feet up in the air (Golding 9). The island
seems serene though The ground beneath them was a bank covered with coarse grass, torn everywhere
by the upheavals of fallen trees, scattered with decaying coconuts and palm saplings (Golding 10)
later it shows dark things. The boys were happy at first and were having fun since there were no rules.
They swim in the water and play in the sand like they think it is a vacation. On the other hand the

make artificial flowers in the workshop that a group of inmates attended with frenetic diligence. But
after the third week she began, little by little, to join in the life of the cloister (Marques 83) These
things distract the characters in their pursuits to freedom. There is no way to beat this setting.

31. The Principle Of Separation Of Power
Our Founding Fathers were no strangers to the long standing care of a government. Throughout
history it has been proven over and over that when any one person is allowed to obtain and stockpile
power that he/she becomes the greatest threat to liberty. It is no wonder that the most famous and
treasured part of the Constitution, the separation of powers, was molded over hundreds of years.
The idea of separation of power is not necessarily a new concept. As far back as 350 B.C. the Greek
philosopher Aristotle made the observation in Politics that any government whether it be monarchal,
democratic, and etc. has three basic branches: the deliberative, the magisterial, and the judicative.
Today all three can be directly compared to: legislative, executive, and judicial within our modern day
governments. However, while Aristotle asserted that all three were basic components to any and all
governments, he did not specify that they should be wielded by separate entities of said governments.
It would not be until centuries after Aristotle s death that his idea of the different functions of
government would be separated into different branches. It was the French philosopher Baron de
Montesquieu put forth the idea that these powers should be separated, and no one person/branch
should hold multiple powers. Of course while John Locke had made the case for splitting the
legislative and executive powers, it was Montesquieu that gave our Founding Fathers the proof and/or
backing for a

Though I am excited to relocate from Fort Collins, I am most excited to meet other students attending
CMU in the fall. I believe that the first few weeks in college is crucial to collegiate happiness and
success. This time is imperative for socialization, meeting new friends, and getting involved around
campus and in the community. The Outdoor Program, Alternative Spring Break, Club sports, Forensic

campus.
My freshman year of high school I found myself overwhelmed by the course load at a new school. I

determined to become more involved in both my school, and my community. I first decided to join the

president, and a multi city level officer for. By joining FCCLA, I have been given the opportunity to
