The Second Theory Of Time
The second theory of the relativity of time is used by Robert Zemeckis in the movie Back to the
Future and Back to the Future Part II. Marty travels back in time in the first movie and back to the
present time, and then in the second he goes into the future, then the present, then the past. Marty
travels through all of these different time periods which become altered every time Marty and Doc
travel in time. As they go between different time periods, Marty and Doc encounter different alternate
universes that are coexisting. Every time they go into a different year they have to be extremely
careful as if they disturb anything they will alter the future course of history. This exemplifies the idea

all of these occurred in some form. Robert took these events and placed them into the life of one man,
making it seem as if humans can go back and manipulate the past to our liking. In this case, he used
many special effects to create the reality that we can go back into time and manipulate the past to our
liking. While he does not explicitly say this, it can be assumed that he went into the past to recreate it
to fit his image of the future.
Robert also made the movie Cast Away which uses time in a different fashion than Forrest Gump. In
the movie, Chuck survives a plane crash in the middle of the ocean but is assumed to have died as he
was not found. The civilized world assumes Chuck has died and has a proper funeral for him.
However, Chuck is living on a deserted island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In the beginning of
the movie Chuck is obsessed with time, everything must be on time and everything is run and
calculated to the second. For example, Chuck demands all of his employees be on time to the second
as he walks around with a stop watch making sure that the employees make the deadline. When he
ends up on the island he starts keeping track of time with scratches in the rocks as tally marks. After a
year or so of the approximately four years he was on the island, he loses

The Era Of New Technology
The 1990s was the era of new technology. This era consists of wars and a variety of inventions coming
into our world, such as The Persian Gulf War, and the Google Search Bar. This decade was a time of
all sorts of records broken and right into the history book, just like when Eilleen Collins was the first
female to become an astronaut. This is a start to something big in many years to come.
The Persian Gulf War was one of the great wars that helped America to be what is today. This war
helped people achieve freedom and liberty in their lives. Furthermore, the United States paid for the
war and it costs the U.S. millions of dollars in debt (NAGEL, 21). The war was declared on August
20, 1990. This war was declared because of Iraq s invasion in Kuwait on August 20, 1990. Iraq s
leader, Saddam Hussein, ordered the invasion and occupation of Kuwait with the apparent aim of
acquiring that nation s large oil reserves, canceling a large debt Iraq owed Kuwait, and expanding
Iraqi power in the region (EXAMINER.COM). Persian Gulf War took place in Southwestern Asia.
The U.S benefited some things not just for them, but for other countries. People said the U.S achieved
freedom for other countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. These countries did not possess
freedom. One thing the U.S benefited from this war, was respect. Another thing the U.S. gained during
this war was allies, such as Iran. Also, the U.S. gained respect from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. And as

Henri Matisse s Painting Comparison
These three famous paintings are going to be analyzed below, pointing their similarities and
differences. Henri Matisse was mostly known for his work during the Fauvism movement, Pablo
Picasso excelled during the Cubism movement and Paul Cezanne showed his talents through the Post
Impressionism movement.
Discussion
Matisse s painting shows a broad open field focusing on the bright landscape with a lot of nature and
the expression of sensuality and eroticism. The bodies in this painting are seemed graceful and curvy.
On the hand, Picasso used geometric forms and an illusion of depth to exhibit a more suggestive kind
of sensuality. In his painting, he did not use bright landscapes, but a closed and dark place that looks
crowded. The women illustrated are referenced as prostitutes from a brothel located in Avignon Street
in Barcelona. Both Matisse and Picasso illustrated a woman standing in the same position on the left
side of Matisse s painting and in the middle of Picasso s painting. They both have their elbows raised.
Paul Cezanne used structure, order and optical effects of color in his painting. The Large Bathers is ...

Matisse and Cezanne used landscape and sensuality. Picasso and Cezanne used similar colors of blue
and brown. Picasso differs his painting through the rude sensuality expressed and the geometrical
forms of his movement. Paul Cezanne inspired both paintings to use sensuality of females. He inspired
Matisse to focus on the landscape, and Picasso to focus on the colors. Even though he was a source of
inspiration for painters from different movements, Matisse and Picasso differentiated their work with
the characteristics from their own movements. Matisse used the bright and cheery landscapes
referenced in Fauvism and Picasso used geometrical forms with an illusion of depth from Cubism. All
three paintings are famous worldwide and gave recognition to their authors for their well done

An Era Of Advancements, 1945-1970
An Era of Advancements Jackie Robinson once said Life is not a spectator sport. . . . If you re going to
spend your whole life in the grandstand just watching what goes on, in my opinion you re wasting
your life. Robinson was always looking to advance not only in baseball, but in life as well. During the
years 1945 1970, Americans experienced prosperity, advancements, and controversy. For example, the
assassination of John F. Kennedy caused Americans to question the honesty of the government. In
addition, Americans also faced massive Civil Rights movements and anti war protests that divided the
country. Some other events/people that affected this era were Martin Luther King Jr., the Space Race,
and the wars in Vietnam and Korea ( Prosperity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Project MKUltra, sometimes referred to as Project Monarch, is a program of many different
experiments tested on American Citizens by the CIA. Experiments on humans were intended to
identify and develop drugs and procedures to be used in interrogations and torture, in order to weaken
the individual to force confessions through mind control. Project MKUltra started in the 1950 s and
lasted around 20 years. The CIA experimented on countless unsuspecting American Citizens that were
exposed to drugs, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, abuse and torture. Subjects that were least likely to
put up a fight were picked for the operation. Popular places and subjects were nursing homes, prisons,
mental hospitals, homeless people, and drug addicts. Over 44 different universities were involved in
the operation. Doctor Sidney Gottlieb was chosen to lead the program when it officially began in
1953. The US started mind control experiments, torture, and brainwashing programs after reports that
the Chinese and North Koreans were testing techniques on prisoners of war in WWII. The CIA was
authorized to commit 6% of of their entire operating budget on MKUltra with no guidelines or
oversight on how it was spent. Operations for MKUltra were so secretive that even the agents running

How Social Class Affects My Family Life And Education
We are shaped by society s structures, is the primary concept of the idea developed by C. Wright Mills
(Henslin). In this paper, I will demonstrate how my social class affected my family life and education.
World is composed of social stratification, a system which people are divided into layers based on
their property, power and prestige. This stratification labels people and causes them to think
accordingly within their own stratification. It can be expressed in four major groups as follows:
slavery, caste system, estate, and class. Though it can be described in slavery, caste system, and estate,
these are all old forms of social stratification that are not used commonly in the present. Therefore, my
paper will be focusing on the description of the class system.
In social stratification, class is the only system that approves social mobility. It is also a system that is
based on the physical possessions such as money and materials. Moreover, slass system is the system
that allowed me to think I can achieve upward social mobility. Therefore, I aim to be part of a higher
social class as I am currently a member of a working class, which is compsed of relatively unskilled
blue collar... [less secure jobs,] more routine, and more closely supervised [jobs],(Henslin 268). I
intend to achieve this goal by getting educated.
After immigrating to the United States, I was grouped in a class of English as a second language
learners in a public middle school. In that class, I

The Forever Moving Land Essay
The Forever Moving Land nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The land below us is always in motion. Plate
tectonics studies these restless effects to give us a better understanding of the Earth and its past. New
molten rocks are poured out in the form of magma from the mid ocean ridges. The rock is recycled
and re entered back into the earth in deep ocean trenches through convection current. The convection
current in the mantle drives plates around either against or away from each other. These collisions give
rise to earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, and continental drift. The crashing and spreading of the
plates forms the landscape of the Earth as we see it today. The positions of the land masses today is a
result of continental drift. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cooled magma will, in time, sink back down into the Earth in the deep ocean trenches. The mantle
sinking down produces subduction zones or Benioff zones. The deepest part of the ocean resides in
these areas. There are three types of boundaries where plates meet: divergent boundaries the upwelling
of magma; convergent boundaries where the plates collide producing mountains, volcanoes, and
earthquakes; and transform boundaries lateral movement. Transform plates are caused by fracture
zones. When a rift opens from the upwelling of magma it causes a crack in the crust. As new magma
rises to the surface, the crack increases caused by the pressure, resulting in a horizontal faulting. The
fractured plate pieces travel in the same direction as the original plate was traveling away from the
ocean ridge. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;During the early 1900 s, a theory of a super continent was
developed by Alfred Wegener. He was ridiculed for his ideas that continental drift produced the
present positions of the continents from a single super continent called Pangea. This theory is widely
accepted today, however. There was abundant evidence for Wegener to believe in the existance of
Pangea. The shape of the continents could be pieced together like a giant jigsaw puzzle suggesting that
the continents were once glued together. The fossils found on the continents were not distinct to that
particular land, but were also found in lands that were separated by

managed to get influenza. When she asked for the reward the Carbolic Company claimed that there
was no enforceable contract between it and the user of the smoke ball on the grounds that there was no
acceptance of the offer, because Mrs Carlill had never notified the Company that she accepted its
offer, nor furnished any consideration. The court held that in unilateral offers, the advertisement is an
offer which was accepted by Mrs Carlill. The courts also looked at the parties intention, such as the
fact that 1000 pounds were deposited in the Bank showed a genuine intention to create a legal
relationship. There was consideration furnished by Mrs Carlill when she purchased the smoke balls.
Hence there was a binding contract.
The second type of offer is bilateral which is an agreement in which both parties make a promise or
promises to the other party. For example A offers to sell his motorcycle to B for RM2500 . B accepts
the offer by promising to pay A.
Offer can be made by using 2 methods which according to section 9 Contracts Act 1950 are by

Canadian-American Relations Essay
As Lester B. Pearson once said Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. Politics may create
disagreements and conflict between two countries, but it can also affect countries relations. When
Canadian Prime Minister Diefenbaker refused to accept American warheads it has set back Canadian
and American relations. However In many ways we still help each other out. Canada benefits from
close ties to the United States of America because it helps our economy, forms our culture, and they

living through the media.
Secondly, closer ties to America helped us form a culture we know to this day. American media was
playing through Canadian televisions and radios. In the late 1950s after Canadian s pride and joy was
aggravated by the Avro Arrow , Canadian aviation talent went to America and helped with the man
landing on the moon. This influenced Hollywood to dedicate movies and T.V shows. Some of
Canadian actresses and actors stared in the playing of Hollywood shows and movies, along with
American actors and actresses. Canadians started watching more television which influenced
Canadian buying behaviours, clothes, behaviours, food etc. American culture had slightly influenced
Canadian culture through media. Also America has always been Canada s number one trading partner.
Gordon Morton McGregor, who was head of the Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd., set up the
largest automotive car company in Candaians. This car company gave many Canadians jobs since they
were manufactured by Canadians however the parts that came in for the automobiles were from
America. American goods were being transferred to Canada so they can manufacture cars. The
Americans have a culture that is recognized as being luxuries and rich. By America trading valuable
goods with Canada we gained recognition as Canada being a wealthy and luxuries country. Canada

The Meaning Of Coming Of Age Essay
The statement coming of age means to me that you are given more responsibility to do different
things, you are expected to be more mature and more trust is handed to you. These are just a few of
the things that are expected of you when you are coming of age because you are getting closer to
being a responsible, mature and trustworthy adult. The reason that I think you are given more
responsibility when you are coming of age is because you are getting older and about ready to move
out of the house, and when you do there won t be any excuses for not doing things that you are
supposed to do because it s on you for not doing what you are supposed to do. With that, you are given
more and more responsibility until you come of age to get you ready for the real world. ... Show more

Being mature means you have to know when to stop arguing and to respect others. You will be
expected to act like an adult even if you aren t one because if you don t learn how to before you come
of age, you won t be respected properly and it will be hard to get through life without being mature.
Being mature is one of the key things to be in life. In addition to the following expectations you are
expected to be when coming of age, being trustworthy is another key element to life for if you aren t
trustworthy it s very likely that you won t get hire or get fired from the job because how can someone
give you a task if they don t trust that you ll do it. Being trustworthy means to not only tell the truth at

Analysis Of The Movie Butterfield Stars Essay
Butterfield stars as Bruno, a curious, stubborn eight year old whose family is relocated to the
countryside when his father receives a new job as a head member of the Nazi party, working for the
Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp. Lonely and frustrated from having no one his own age to
talk to, Bruno explores past the limits of his backyard. He comes across a barbed wire fence, with a
young boy named Schmuel (played by Scanlon) on the other side wearing what Bruno perceives to be
striped pajamas. The two boys strike up a friendship through the fence, with Bruno coming to visit
Shmuel almost daily. Neither boy grasps that Schmuel is in a death camp, and when Schmuel
confesses to Bruno that he is Jewish, Bruno doesn t not seem to understand why that matters. Curious
as to what really lies on the other side of the fence, Bruno and Schmuel plot for him to sneak into the
camp, which leads to the demise of both of them. The film is more emotion based rather than fact
based, in an attempt to appeal to the audiences symphonies rather than instruct them on a historical
event. It has been criticized for its accuracy, specifically pertaining to the ages of the boys. Many
critics claim that boys as young as Schmuel would never have been at Auschwitz, because all children
too young to work were gassed upon arrival. Others argue that the film is symbol of innocence, and
the two boys reflect how children are able to look past each other s differences easier than adults.

The Triumph Of The Eastern Orthodoxy In 726 AD
The triumph of the Eastern Orthodoxy In 726 AD, there was a massive eruption by the Santorini
Volcano. The Agean Sea was filled with tsunamis, ash, and volcanic rock that caused the sea to boil. It
was the largest eruption Europe had seen in over 2000 years. Right now you re probably wondering
how this has anything to do with the subject at hand. This is the story of how an eruption sparked one
of the biggest debates in the history of the Eastern Orthodox Church.
The eruption of Santorini and the invading Muslims caused the emperor to change Christian history.
Emperor Leo III of Constantinople saw this eruption as a sign that God was angry with the empire.
Leo was confused by this and wondered why God was angry with him while He continued to allow
the Muslims to invade Christian territories. The emperor had a theory that since the Muslims were
iconoclastic, which means they were against the images of religious figures such as a painting of
Jesus. Leo thought that since the Muslims weren t using images, God had been favoring them since
the Christian church did use images. So Leo had the image of Jesus, that was placed in front of ...

The purpose of this research paper is to answer the major question, what is Deaf culture? There are
three sub questions that will assist in answering the major question: (1) What constitutes Deaf culture?
(2) How has American Sign Language impacted the Deaf community? (3) What are the major issues
that are being addressed in Deaf culture today? With these questions answer, it will give a better
understanding as to what Deaf culture is and that it is indeed a culture.

There are also questions that arise such as, what constitutes Deaf culture? There are two other
questions that are very important into explaining the importance of Deaf culture, which is, how has
ASL (American Sign Language) impacted the Deaf community and what are the major issues that are
being addressed in Deaf culture today? This topic is very important to me because I was raised in the
Deaf culture. My entire family is Deaf and have faced many of these questions that hearing people are
unaware about. I feel that it is my job to educate when I have the chance to do so. By being able to
educate at least one person, I have done my job. I do not think there is enough information out there to
reach everyone s awareness of Deaf culture. While investigating this topic I will be trying to ask at
least 30 50 people; Deaf and hearing, about what they think Deaf culture is. I am very curious as to
how many understand Deaf culture and how many Deaf people actually know what Deaf culture is.
Deaf culture has been suppressed for many years that even the Deaf people might not know what
really makes up Deaf culture. I also what to get the Deaf people s take on what they think are the
major issues that are being dealt with today and also how they think ASL has impacted their
communities (History). I know that everyone will have a different take on these two questions and it is
always interesting to see the different answers. I

My Guide to Attracting Guys
You may feel like it can be impossible to get a guy to truly notice you. There are different ways of
showcasing your personality and appearance to achieve more attention from guys. It can prove to be
quite difficult at times if you re not sure how to be seen around them. By following my guide on how
to attract guys you will be a couple steps closer to finding your dream guy.
There are certain ways you can portray your personality aimed at a guy; they are most likely to notice
a girl that loves who she is, who is confident, bold and is not afraid to joke around and make him
laugh. Smiling to show that you re having a good time, keeping eye contact with him so that he knows
he s got your undivided attention and do not forget to laugh at his jokes; this is a big one, even if they
are not funny. If you don t laugh it can lead to a really awkward situation and so can putting on a
ridiculous laugh, he might no longer think you are interested. Make sure you keep the conversation
going, ask questions, talk about yourself, school, family, hobbies, but try not to get too personal. Make
sure that you don t talk too much and overload him with information, give him a chance to get a few
words in and answer rather than leaving him sitting there listening to you blabber on.

you are showering regularly, at least once a day. Washing thoroughly from head to toe may even

Critical Appreciation Of Judith Decapitating Holofernes
From Whitney Chadwick third edition of Women, Art, and Society, the piece of artwork that engaged
me deeply from this book is the 17th Century Italian Baroque painting Judith Decapitating Holofernes
c. 1618 by Italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi. This painting is oil on canvas painting in the style of
classical Italian Baroque characteristics of chiaroscuro, dramatic realism, naturalistic, and rich vivid
colors. What I see physically at first from the painting is at the center of the work a violent action is
being played out by two young women using a sword to behead a man s head while he s in bed. I can
see the arm strength of Judith and her maidservant in the way they re holding the man down to keep
him still while their killing him and in the way the artist arranges the women s arms. I also see the
amazement, terror, and vulnerability Holofernes is feeling by the way Artemisia painted in such detail
in the look in his unnaturally wide eyes due to shock, his mouth is open like he s either screaming for
help or in pain, and how his body is contorted in an uncomfortable arrangement almost like he s trying
to get up to stop this assault. What mostly draws me and holds my attention to this painting is the raw
intensified emotion Artemisia can show of the three characters in this dramatic climatic scene, how
theatrical she is with the blood when Judith cuts into Holofernes neck, raw emotions, and how to me
other paintings seem so tame compared to Artemisia Judith. I

Beowulf Vs Dante The Pilgrim
What is a hero? Maya Angelou believed that a hero is any person really intent on making this a better
place for all people. When the word hero comes to my mind, I see someone who is noble in character
and is respected for his or her brave actions. A Christian hero is someone who displays qualities of a
regular hero but has qualities that are similar to characteristics of Jesus Christ. Jesus was a man who
was humble, courageous, and a man who helped others. Beowulf is a better example of a Christian
hero than Dante the Pilgrim because Beowulf exemplifies the characteristics of humbleness, being
courageous, and helping others more than Dante the Pilgrim does. For a hero to be humble, they have

There are 3 occasions that Beowulf helps others. The first occasion is when Beowulf goes to visit
King Hrothgar and the king begs him to help and to fight Grendel for him and his kingdom (Beowulf,

mother (Beowulf, 2131). The third occasion is when King Hygelac is killed and his wife wants
Beowulf to take over as king because she believes that her son is too young to lead and protect the
kingdom. But instead Beowulf honors, guides and provides support for the prince (Beowulf, 2365
2378). In contrast, Dante the Pilgrim does not help others. Yes, he is seen as a character who pities the
sinners at first but he does not help them. Instead, he wants to know their names and stories so he can
put it into his notes (Inferno, XXXII). Dante the Pilgrim is using the sinners for their stories and does
not care to help them at least feel better. A Christian hero is characterized for helping others because
that is what Jesus did. Beowulf was a helpful person to others, while Dante the Pilgrim did not seem to

Marketing Plan For The Local Grocery Store Essay
A trip to the local grocery store may seem like a mindless every day activity of providing nourishment
and basic needs for your family. However, many consumers fail to realize how much consideration,
time, and money is allocated by businesses attempting to understand why consumers buy products
over other similar products. Significant amounts of money are invested in neuromarketing, branding
products, and developing the company s lifestyle brand to attract loyal customers. Strategic branding
isn t focused on the product, but creates a feeling within the customer. The efforts of branding and
neuromarketing have significant impact on how consumers purchase the items presented to them.
Organizations have significantly evolved since the early 1980 s. Products went from scooping out bulk
items from a barrel to neatly packaged items in a row; sometimes with four or five different labels of

My Best Vacation
The best vacation ever! my cousin Vicky screamed from the bed next to me. I was just trying to fall
sleep, but she kept talking most of the night with her twin sister Emma. We all have the same age, and
this is the first vacation we have without parents, aunts, and uncles around, telling us what to do. We
arrived to Los Angeles, California at 11:00 pm, checked into the hotel and tried to rest. The next day
we planned to drive around the city and wait for our friend Annette, who was coming from Texas.
Annette was around twenty years old, but she had been traveling around the world with her father
since she was 13. I admire her, she is funny, has a good temper, and is really knowledgeable about
traveling. We are going to fly together to Mexico City first, and from there to Acapulco. We planned to
go to La Quebrada , it s a place in Acapulco where people do cliff diving. We had done some research
about it. The divers have to climb the cliff and do a freestyle jump into the water. We couldn t wait to
be there, Annette was going to be really happy too, she used to compete in platform diving when she
was in high school. The hotel room phone rang pretty early the next day. Our parents checking on us,
making sure we were ok. Emma talked to her mother and assured her that everything was ok and that
we will be careful driving around. It was funny, I looked at her facial expressions meanwhile she is
talking, and Emma rolls the eyes and nods a lot. Emma is the opposite of his sister Vicky. Vicky talks
a lot but she s a scary cat, on the other hand, Emma is quieter but really adventurous. Liz, my uncle
wants you on the phone! Emma announced. I picked up the phone and got myself ready for the
lecture. My father was concerned that we were going alone to Mexico. I promised that we were going
to stay in Acapulco a couple of days and go back to California. Don t do stupid things my father
continued, and, take care of each other. Annette arrived at midday, we were happy to see each other
again. We decided to go the movies. We say the premier of Batman Returns , the line at the movie
theater was extremely long, but we were so excited that the next day we will be flying to Mexico that

Crime In The Mid 1990s Essay
In the mid 1990s, after decades of relatively steady increase, crime rates in the United
States began a rapid and surprising decline. Researchers have investigated many possible explanations
for this decline. For instance, Levitt [2004] argues that the decline in crime in the mid 1990s is
explained by increases in the number of police, the size of the prison population, the decreasing crack
epidemic, and the legalization of abortion in the 1970s. Although it may be the case that Levitt s
explanations did in fact contributed to the decline in crime in the mid
1900s, it may also be the case that the exposure of lead is also an important factor that affected these
rates.
There are multiple reasons to expect that a person s lead exposure as a child could affect

Paragraph 3
Lead has also been associated directly with delinquent, criminal, and aggressive behavior.
Denno [1990] finds that lead poisoning is the most significant predictor of disciplinary problems and
one of the most significant predictors of delinquency, adult criminality, and the number and severity of
offenses. This suggests that there is a significant relationship between the amount of lead in bone,
which is a good measure of past exposure and antisocial, delinquent, and aggressive behaviors. (in this
section I plan to add more, trying to connect the association between crime and lead)
Conclusion
Above all, the evidence shows that lead is associated with aggressivity, impulsivity,
ADHD, and lower IQ, and that these impairments in turn are associated with violent and criminal

behavior. Lead has also been directly associated with delinquent and criminal behavior.

Introduction. Plaza, The Logistics Park Of Zaragoza. Plaza
Introduction
Plaza, the logistics park of Zaragoza
Plaza is a brand new logistics park located in the outskirts of Zaragoza, Spain (Watson Kraiselburd,
2009, p. 1). Plaza was opened for business on October 10, 2005, with a total surface area of
12,826,898 m2 (Watson Kraiselburd, 2009, p. 1). For instance, the company granted the area to
different business participants and connected with the international organizations for the supportive
ideas to grow in the future (Watson Kraiselburd, 2009, p.1). In addition, the logistics parks were part
of a larger development effort that included not only an industrial park, but also malls and living
spaces (Watson Kraiselburd, 2009, p.1).

The city of Zaragoza offered facilities that gave the possibility of using different modes of

country, high speed and regular cargo train connections, and sate of the art cargo airport (Watson
Kraiselburd, 2009, p.3). Furthermore, the logistics area would be used to connect Spain to the south of
France, Italy and Portugal (Watson Kraiselburd, 2009, p.3).
. Moreover, to overcome the fact that Aragon was a land locked territory, part of the plan was to create
a dry port through agreements with the most important ports in Spain s (located in Bilbao, Barcelona
and Valencia). Such ports would benefit from the possibility of directing goods away from the
expensive and congested real around the port itself, and clients would benefit because PLAZA could
give the customers the flexibility to choose the best port for each occasion (Watson Kraiselburd,2009,
p.3). This case shows that Ricardo Garcia, who is managing director of PLAZA centered an analysis
on one hypothetical example, to clarify his thought on positioning the PLAZA as a preferred location
for European companies seeking to develop their distribution network. This report also suggests
recommendations that the PLAZA should

Gender Socialization
Gender Socialization
Sociology 100
Before a newborn child takes his or her first breath of life outside the mother s womb, he or she is
distinguishable and characterized by gender. A baby is born and the doctor looks at the proud parents
or parent and says three simple words: Its a boy, or Its a girl The baby is brought home and dressed in
clothes that help friends, family and even strangers identify the sex of the child. Baby boys are dressed
in blue and baby girls are dressed in pink. The baby boy may be dressed in a blue jumpsuit with a
football or a baseball glove on it. The baby girl may wear a bow in their hair and flowered pajamas. As
the boy begins to grow, he is given a miniature basketball and a hoop to play with. ... Show more

Another aspect of everyday life that is highly influential in gender socialization is the media. What we
see on television or at the movies, what we read in the newspaper or in magazines, what we see on
billboards or hear on the radio are all very significant on how we form a opinion on gender identity.
Media publishers have very successfully learned to play to an audience and are extremely successful
in communicating with the audience they wish to reach. Advertisers are the biggest example of this
concept. Society is very apt in recognizing images seen in commercials and printed ads and viewing
them as socially acceptable behavior. For example, beer companies will target the twenty to thirty year
old male audiences and include scantily clad women enjoying their favorite beers. Ironically, popular
women magazines also use beautiful women to promote cosmetics and beauty products. Both
examples show the exploitation of female images in society. It is this societal ignorance that clouds the
mind and allows the images to continue to influence what we believe to be socially acceptable. And
when society is presented with something or someone out of the ordinary, which doesn t follow what
we deem to be correct, we rebel and try to modify it to our socially acceptable standards.
Imagine a baby born with no visible sex organs. Now imagine after some tests that there are no

License for restaurants and bars The author plans on opening up a nightclub, there are many different
types of licenses that the author needs to get in order to open the nightclub. Since it is a nightclub the
author will need a liquor license, entertainment license, dance license, extended hours license and
many others. The author wants to sell alcohol, to have live concerts, to let people dance, to stay
opened after 2 a.m. and other things. According to Jamie Zawinski, there are permits for almost
everything the author wants to have in her business.

Nightclubs
1920 s According to Stuart Moss (2010), the first nightclubs started in the 1920 s. 1920 s was the time
post World War I, the nation was strong and business was booming. (Nightlife) During that time
selling alcohol was illegal and people were not accepting that new rule, therefore the name
speakeasies was invented. Speakeasies is the name for places that used to sell illegal alcoholic
beverages and some speakeasies were like clubs now a day, where people drink and dance. (Jen and
Ceyana, 2010)
1970 s
During the 1970 s, there were more types of entertainment than the 1920 s. There were bars, key

Second Trimester Miscarriage Literature Review
.1 Introduction
The Literature Review discussed in this chapter commences with a discussion on the prevalence of
second trimester miscarriage, risk factors associated with second trimester miscarriage and hospital
care during miscarriage. Next the theoretical approaches that have informed our thinking on grief and
bereavement are discussed; such as the contemporary theories of grief and bereavement (Stroebe and
Schut 1999; Worden, 2009) while also drawing on the earlier work of Freud (1925), Bowlby (1980)
and Parkes (1972). The psychological aspects of pregnancy loss and fathers experiences of

The rate of second trimester miscarriage is estimated at 1 2% of recognised pregnancies (Edlow et al.,
2007, Wyatt et al., 2005). Blohm et al. (2008) found that miscarriage occurred in 12% of all
pregnancies and one quarter of women who had been pregnant by 39 years of age had suffered at least
one miscarriage. Research with a sample of 5806 women by Hure et al. (2012) found a miscarriage
rate of 25 per 100 live births. The majority of miscarriages take place during the first trimester of
pregnancy (HSE, 2014). Westin et al. (2007) found that in low risk women, the risk of pregnancy loss
in the second trimester was 0.5%. A recent study conducted in Cork found that the rate of pregnancy
loss between 14 24 weeks was approximately 0.5% (Morris et al., 2014). A more recent study
conducted in a large Dublin maternity hospital reported a rate of second trimester pregnancy loss of
0.8% (Cullen et al., 2016).
2.4 Risk factors associated with second trimester miscarriage
While there is a dearth of research examining risk factors specifically for second trimester miscarriage
there are a number of research studies examining risk factors for miscarriage, recurrent miscarriages
and stillbirths. Several risk factors have been associated with an increased risk of miscarriage and or
stillbirth; these include increased maternal age, obesity, smoking, caffeine

Vicki Kistler s Talk Summary
From Vicki Kistler s talk, I learned that Public Health overlaps with a lot of Health Science majors.
Some majors that involve Public Health are IT, Pre med, and undecided (basic science classes). The
goal of Public Health is to respond, present, and help people live happy and healthy lives. Public
Health also isn t one major or discipline, it s a philosophy. Some careers in the Public Health field are
adoption, reducing mortality for infants, and being a lawyer who supports the Public Health Law.
There are 48 health instructors out of 50 and there also isn t a Public Health department in every

This impacts not only their loved ones, but also the rest of the population. Spreading cancer awareness
allows others to be informed about cancers they may have not known about and possibly prevent them
from happening to them in the future. Another aspect of Public Health that is very touching is the fact
that they deal with suicide prevention. This is a very complicated legal situation and deals with public
policies. Furthermore, helping with drug addictions was another impacting topic of Public Health. Not
only is it difficult to watch a drug addict suffer on a daily basis, but also watching their families
struggle emotionally. Public Health helps educate drug addicts by helping them quit the drug they are
using and provide epidemics. In turn, this will allow the drug addict to quit their addiction as well as
help their family s situation get back to normal again. In conclusion, I learned that Public Health is a
field in which it helps people feel happy again, teaches about health care disease, and helps change the
lives of others positively. That is why the Public Health field will be an important career in the

should be for your country and justify your reason for choosing these priorities.
In Singapore, education is more or less a political and social engineering tool that prepares
Singaporeans for the workplace of the future. In the 1960s, education was driven by the need for
Singapore to survive as a small, independent city state with limited resources. Thus, there was a strong

How does the development of core competencies provide both advantages and disadvantages for an

today s world competition among firms becomes globalized and more intense. In order to become
superiorly competitive, companies should enhance its competencies in a way that will allow them to
achieve dominant position in a market. One way of accomplishing it is by development of core

For instance, mentioned by some participants in the discussion, Nokia lost its leadership in production
of mobile phones as they were unable to adapt to the new era of phones pioneered by Iphone. There
has been general consensus throughout the discussion that applying dynamic capabilities approach can
prevent core competencies becoming core rigidities. The idea of dynamic capabilities lies in a
necessity of a company to create, extend and modify its resource base, whether it would be minor
continuous improvements; creation of new resources or combination of existing ones in new ways; or
a complete renewing of the resource base, depending on how dynamic the environment is, in order to
sustain competitive advantage and address external changes. What is important here is the managers
perception of the environmental dynamism that providesthe basis for their ability to identify the need
for changes and extend those changes when necessary. According to Amrosini et al (2009), managers
who fail to identify correctly the environmental dynamism may react not accordingly to the actual
environment and, thus, apply insufficient changes (risk of strategic shift), prefer predictability of

Comparing After You And Everything Happens For A Reason
The novel After You by Jojo Moyes and poem Everything Happens for a Reason by Katie both contain
a similar message that moving on from the death of a loved one is difficult initially, but as time
progresses the pain will ease.
First, one similarity the novel and poem both share examples of the initial pain after a loved one has
passed away.
After Will s death, Louisa goes on the roof while drunk and yells out to the heavens: You didn t give
me a bloody life, did you? Not really. You just smashed up my old one. Smashed it into little pieces.
What am I meant to do with what s left? (Moyes 7).
Much like Louisa, the speaker in Everything Happens for a Reason ponders why did you have to

seems unfixable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

make them sad, yet comforted.

The Impact Of Organizational Change On Change Management
Introduction
Change is a phenomenon which is inevitable in every aspect of human life and it is always constant
despite the fact that people do resist change due to some reasons. Organizational change is also a
phenomenon which cannot be avoided by organization, because internal and external factors exist
which can cause an organization to change. According to Mills an et al (2008) organization change
can be defined as an alteration of a core aspect of an organization s operations. Theses core aspects
involve culture of the company, the technology used or the structure of the organization. This report
will evaluate the impact of organizational changes.
Change Management
The change Management function will assess the nature and magnitude of the change as a result of the
change programme and who it will affect. In parallel to this, the team should put in place measures to
assess how ready people are for the change. As an output of the change readiness assessments, and any
areas of the organisation who look to be particularly resistant to change or are facing a significant
volume of change can be given specific focus. The readiness to change will be measured across the
project lifecycle to monitor and track the sentiment of the organisation.
Policies and Procedures against the Strategic Plan
Once reviewed, policies which had been developed in response to meeting the requirements of the
strategic plan must b reviewed to identify those that require change. The time taken

Telehealth Benefits
Telehealth is remote exchange of data between a patient and doctor that facilitate in better diagnosis of

improves the quality of care:
Telehealth uses technology to provide services that assist in the management of long term health
conditions. For patients, telehealth can be a blessing that allows them to remain in their homes rather
than moving to rehabilitation facilities. By taking an active role in their own care, some patients are
reducing the number of medications they take, visiting emergency rooms less frequently and even
lessening depressive symptoms.
There are real benefits for both the patient and the clinician. The individual patient has more control
and understanding of their long term health condition, and the clinicians utilising telehealth as part of
a care pathway can ensure that they are proactively involved in the ongoing wellbeing of their patient,
managing timely interventions and helping to improve their patient s quality of life.

Unfortunately, this means you ll have bone pressing against bone in your hand/upper arm, which can

The Song Cherry Wine By Indie Rock Artist
In the song Cherry Wine , written and performed by indie rock artist Hozier, it becomes apparent early
on that this is not what one might consider a typical love song; nor is it about a typical woman.
Although the acoustic guitar and softer melody paint a peaceful picture, the lyrics express that there is
something much deeper that lies beneath its surface. From beginning to end, every verse about this
woman and his relationship with her is a contradiction, which immediately sets the tone for the way he
feels being with her: it s a battle. While most love songs are written in hopes of appealing to a wide
audience, Hozier simply writes about the faults he has found in his own relationship and how,
regardless, he can t seem to walk away. Although Hozier continuously professes his love for this
woman throughout this song, there are still darker lyrics and elements that should be acknowledged as
well. The second verse begins with this line: Calls of guilty fall on me/ All while she stains the sheets
of some other. It s very clear in this lyric that this woman has continuously accused him of being
unfaithful to her all while it is implied that she is the one who has been unfaithful. It is not just
coincidence that, a few lines before, Hozier says It looks ugly, but it s clean. Oh mama, don t fuss over
me, which suggests that his friends and family are concerned about this relationship but he insists that
it isn t as bad as it looks. It s interesting how these two verses

work load they may embrace the proposed changes as well. Change has a way of affecting everybody
that is involved, so they will need to understand the benefits of the proposed changes.
Promotions are always great. Cost decreases can also bring bigger bonuses or more money added to
the organizations annual raises. It was stated that some people do not want to be king or queens.
Usually a promotion requires more work and some people are not interested. If they could continue to
do their job with bigger benefits that could entice people to embrace proposed changes.
An automated system requires less work for everybody involved, which means that they may be
required to work less hours as well. They will have more time to spend at the office and not have to be
in the field as much either. People will need to have complete uderstanding and introducing project
based management could also entice the people. There are many benefits associated with introducing
project based management, such as greater entrepreneurship, more client satisfaction, more effective

Destroying The Social Fabric Of Our Planet By Robert D....
Requirement 1: Summary of Author s Thesis and Main Argument The article which I will be
critiquing is titled The Coming Anarchy: How Scarcity, Crime, Overpopulation, Tribalism, and
Disease are Rapidly Destroying the Social Fabric of Our Planet written by Robert D. Kaplan. It was
published in the Atlantic Monthly in February 1994. In this article Mr. Kaplan argues that the way
Nations are viewed, both internally and externally, will change dramatically in the coming decades. I
will examine how the author developed his argument based on the four crucial concepts of
environmental scarcity, cultural and racial clash, geographic destiny, and the transformation of war. In
this article, Mr. Kaplan immediately draws the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an area that we haven t traditionally taken part in. Not only is the geo political canvas constantly
changing, the language barrier will prove to be a difficult one to overcome. Along the western coast of
Africa the lines that define countries are fluid at best. Land is claimed by the warlord or tribe that can
hold it and factions within the countries are fighting daily for control. Rebellion is a daily occurrence
and with it brings a multitude of ethnic complexities. With the proliferation of technology we may
very well see the region turned into a religious or extremist playground with the heads of those
organizations hundreds of miles away controlling the fighting on the ground like a puppeteer with
puppets, all in the name of a movement or ideology. As fighting continues crime and war become
indistinguishable, with national defense viewed as a local concept 3. Fighting will become a matter of
survival as nations and states lose the ability to protect its citizens and survival becomes

How Society Uses Today s Everyday Lives That Often Go...
There are many objects that society uses today in their everyday lives that often go unnoticed and
unappreciated. One of those many objects would be the hairbrush. Everyone uses a hairbrush; people
have them in their homes, somewhere hidden in their car, or even at the bottom of their purses.
Numerous people, mostly women, own multiple hairbrushes without realizing it. Consequently, no
one knows how important this object is, yet it being so frequently used. The common hairbrush,
although taken for granted, is a household item that dates back to 1898, which consists of a variety to
choose from, and can deflect self confidence if not used. Lyda A. Newman was born in Ohio in 1898.
This woman is significant because she is the inventor of the hairbrush (Inventor of an Improved
Hairbrush). Newman was also an African American inventor and a women s rights activist. Newman
fought for women s right to vote, working with well known women s suffrage activists (Lyda Newman
Biography). Newman s motive for the invention of the hairbrush was designed to promote ventilation
for hair and provide storage for excess hair and impurities, as well as controlling hair with an afro like
texture (Inventor of an Improved Hairbrush). The hairbrush Newman invented had elastic wire teeth
along with natural bristles, an alternative to using animal hair bristles. (Lyda Newman Biography).
The bristles Newman used were safer to use on hair scalps and easy to make. In 1898, Newman

Tracking Shot In Serenity Crew
Starting at around ten minutes in and lasting around six minutes long is the tracking shot for the movie
Serenity. The shot introduces the characters and gives a look at the ship. The tracking shot helps to set
the tone for how the main characters are going to interact with each other. The tracking shot starts with
the introduction of two crew members of the ship, Wash and Mal. Because the shot tracks Mal as he
interacts with the crew members viewers know he is an important character. Jayne is the next crew
member to be introduced as Mal exits the cockpit. Zoe is next on the crew list followed by Kaylee and
Simon. Once this shot has been established the viewers know the pilot is Wash, who is seat belted in
and wearing a flight jacket views ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the dialog between the Wash and Mal the viewer learns they have a sarcastic type of
relationship. Both characters are equally lit showing which helps to show they have a strong
relationship. Jayne seems to be obsessed with weapons, based off how he is covered in them as he
exits his room. Jayne dresses for action with weapons strapped on, t shirt, pants, and boots. Jayne and
Mal s interaction show a boss employee type relationship but still strong enough for equal lighting.
Zoe is Wash s wife, which the viewer learns when Mal tells her to talk to your husband when she
inquires if they are crashing. Zoe is dressed for action also wearing moveable clothing, boots, and has
a weapon strapped to her leg like Mal. There is equal lighting here also, and dialogue demonstrates
friendship. Kaylee s a mechanic, as the viewers see her holding a tool while working on an engine
with soot or oil on her. Kaylee wears a coveralls with the arms cutoff and a brightly covered shirt
underneath, suggesting a happy person. The lighting here also shows a strong relationship between the
characters. Simon is the ships doctor, which is learn through verbal conversation and when he gives

Watership Down
The extraordinary novel, Watership Down, by Richard Adams is an adventure filled, meaningful piece
of literature published in London around November 1972. Although the plot is about a group of
rabbits struggling to find home, the story can be interpreted as so much more. Of course the book can
be interpreted differently especially as times change. The general meaning however remains intact.
This piece is a great example of an author speaking their voice through writing.
The beginning of the novel takes place at the home of the Owsla Rabbits, which could be classified as
a corrupt democracy. When Fiver, one of the main character s, senses something terrible is going to
happen to his home, he convinces his brother Hazel and several others to ... Show more content on

This idea may be more important than others just because it gives somewhat of a moral lesson on how
to succeed in life. Without the rabbits great work ethic and strong will they would not have made it to
Watership Down. Even after they were worn to the brim and some even injured, they kept on going
because they had a good leader and a bright vision of their future. They continued to go even when
some had became skeptical. This leads into another small side note that, no one was ever left behind.
When Pipkin, a small loyal rabbit was injured, he was not left behind. The group came up with the
water raft idea to get him across the river, because they cared and looked out for one another.Hazel
also took the time to examine him and help to heal his foot so they could continue on with their
journey. You can almost trace this back to the beginning of the book, when Hazel and Fiver were
about to embark on their trip they could have saved themselves and left, but they didn t. They warned
the others and gave an invitation to anyone that wanted to go. They tried to save anyone and everyone
that they could, because they couldn t leave anyone

Character Analysis Of King Henry The V
King Henry the V, a strong young man who has shown to be a natural leader as he time and time again
captures the hearts of people by his moving speeches. There is no denying that Henry the V is an
interesting character, both fear and loved by the people around him. As much as he can be admirable
leader clearly there are some very strange aspects about his character. When reading through the play
one tends to wonder who King Henry really is. As he enters in different scenarios and interacts with
different people we see a dramatic shift in his personality. Though on one hand it is not a bad thing,
perhaps he understands what type of people want in different situation and he seems to mold his
personality accordingly. On the other hand, however, one can look at this as an act of deceit even
comparing King Henry to the modern day politicians who are often accused of being deceitful by
putting up a character for their own advantage. All in all, it is very evident that King Henry has a multi
faceted personality and he uses it to his own advantage. Shakespeare intentionally showed this in the
play to show In his speech at the wall of Harfleur King Henry shows a very brutal side of himself
when trying to invade France showing how merciless and how plainly vicious he can be . The purpose
of this paper is to show how in the play, Henry the fifth by William Shakespeare and the film version
by Kenneth Branagh both show that Henry is that although Henry is not a good person morally
speaking but is a successful king .Who uses his many faces to deceive people but also create his
empire .During the speech at the wall of Harfleur, King Henry shows a very brutal and harsh side of
his personality very different from what he has been showing before. In the dramatic text, the speech
was delivered in blank verse to show the status of who was speaking and to set the tone of the speech.
In the film version, Branagh too interpreted this scene as a very intense moment by the way in which
showed the scene in the film. The scene was set by putting Henry in a dark alley on his horse , when
he speaks the camera was put at a low angle to make it seem as though the audience was looking up at
him. He was placed in the dark with the

The Constitutional Provisions With Reference Freedom Of...
2.1 Constitutional Provisions with reference to Freedom of Press Our constitution unlike the American
Constitution does not specifically or separately provide for the liberty of press. The omission was
explained by Dr. B.R Ambedkar when he observed,
The press has no special rights which are not to be given or which are not to be exercised by the
citizen in his individual capacity. The editor of a press or the manager is merely exercising the right of
expression, and, therefore no special mention is necessary of the freedom of the press. Therefore, it is
now settled that right to freedom of speech and expression in Article 19(1) (a) includes the liberty
granted to press. The importance of freedom of press in parliamentary democracy was recognized,
stated, re stated by the superior courts despite the fact there is no specific enumeration of this freedom.
Liberty of Press is crucial for healthy development of a democratic nation and the judiciary has been
extremely influential in developing the jurisprudence pertaining to freedom of Press. Liberty of Press
is printing without previous license, subject to the consequences of law. In Romesh Thaper v. State of
Madras, Patanjali Sastri, C.J. observed:
Freedom of speech and of the press lay at the foundation of all democratic organizations, for without
free political discussion public education, so essential for the proper functioning of the process of
popular government, is possible.

Analysis Of Akira Kurosawa ( 1910-1998 )
Akira Kurosawa (1910 1998) was one of Japan s most important film directors of the twentieth
century. His work spanned over fifty years and included a broad range of genres from historical epics
to gangster dramas. His films not only told interesting stories but also broke new ground. Many of his
innovations were technical, such as his use of the long lens, his penchant for shooting with multiple
cameras, and his virtuosic editing. Other innovations were tied to his emphasis on details within his
films, such as elaborate period costumes and sets, western music, stunning location shots, and detailed
miniature sets. As to specific reasons, I think much of it comes down a confusion between theme and
technique. I don t see any reason to question Kurosawa s word that all his films were Japanese and
aimed solely at a Japanese audience. However, many writers on the topic saw camera movements or
set ups that resembled John Ford, read about Kurosawa s admiration for westerns and American pulp
fiction, and added it up into a bland statement of Kurosawa being an essentially Western film maker.
And Japanese critics, puzzled about why he was so popular in the West compared to other film
makers, decided this is right. He has often been called the most Western of Japanese film directors
(and is certainly the best known of them in Europe and America), but though he freely admits
influence from Western directors and painters and has based several of his films on major Western
texts, he

What Is The Importance Of Behavior Modification
Goal Setting and Monitoring One of the problems I have always had as a student was procrastinating.
I have recognized that it was an issue before, but I never decided to do anything about it. For my
behavior modification project my goal was to reduce procrastination. I chose this behavior because I
wanted to make my assignments easier. I figured if I stopped starting my schoolwork at the last minute
my work would be less difficult, and maybe my grades would be better. I was really hoping that this
self modification project can make me a new and improved student. To collect my data over the two
week period I used a journal. The first week was baseline data, and the second week was treatment
data. In my journal I wrote down each time I started doing an assignment, and put the name of the
assignment along with the date it was due next to it. Below the next section I included a chart
summarizing the data I recorded in my journal. Behavior Modification Plan During the baseline week

I broke down my assignment during this week, so I completed a bit of the assignment each day.
Bigger assignments were broken down more than my smaller and easier assignments. I also gave
myself some positive reinforcement when I started my assignment sooner than a day before it was
due. I was given some candy whenever I started the assignment sooner. The way I did it was: I bought
my favorite candy, gave it to my friend, and told him to give me some when I came back with part of
my assignment finished. Majority of the assignments during the treatment week were started earlier
than a day before it was due. I felt good about breaking the assignment down because I didn t have to
cram a whole bunch of work in. There were still some times when I started the assignment the night
before it was due. I believe I can continue the progress I made for future

Nearly Gone Paradox
In Nearly Gone by Elle Cosimano, the protagonist, Nearly Leigh Boswell, is targeted by an unknown
enemy that is killing people that she has only one connection to. In the book, Nearly is learning about
Schrödinger s cat, then when reading Missed Connections in the newspaper she is confronted with a
science riddle that mentioned Isaac Newton. And she also has to teach someone how to balance
equations. These are the three different examples I will be describing and making parallels to.
Schrödinger s cat paradox in the book is briefly talked about in the very beginning of the book in her
AP Chemistry class. Her class is discussing quantum mechanics which is the mathematical description
of the motion and interaction of subatomic particles, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

,often referred to as the law of inertia , violates the Uncertainty Principle which is the principle that
the momentum and position of a particle cannot both be precisely determined at the same time. The
second law of motion violates the of equation of quantized energy. Quantize means to restrict (a

Diversity In Advertising
On T.V., billboards, magazines, and almost anywhere possible, there is a constant push for a better,
more improved product that everyone needs in their life. The American marketplace has grown
increasingly congested as more and more products have entered into the frenzied competition after the
public s dollars, as stated by Jib Fowles in , Advertisings Fifteen Basic Appeals. Advertisement is so
much a part of everyday life that most people are unfazed by almost everything being a space to
advertise. When the majority doesn t notice the majority of advertisements what is a company to do?
Advertisers are constantly searching for new ways to catch an audience s eye, which is what exactly a

Now, in 2017, American values are changing and there is a movement of women, young and old,
standing up to societies standards of beauty, saying that there is no such thing as a perfect woman, and
that diversity is beautiful. Many companies have taken to that ideal by using campaigns where there
are more than just tall, skinny, white models, and also going without photoshopping their photos. This
is something that makes brands more relatable to everyday women, because finally there is diversity
in advertisements and campaigns. For many years people of color, mentally or physically disabled
people, and members of the LGBTQ community were severely underrepresented in the media.
Representation is very important when it comes to appealing to a large audience, when looking at
advertisements, everyone wants to see people that they can relate to. Clearly, Olay has not opted for
this rout in the advertisement. Perhaps if the models did not have flawless skin and were closer in age
to the women who would be buying this product, the readers would be more inclined to give it a try.
Instead, an older reader looks at the models and can t relate because the reader cannot see a reflection
of themselves in the models. In real life, women aren t perfect. Jib Fowles put advertising into fifteen
basic appeals, number six being the desire to achieve. Though he describes it as, the drive that
energizes people, causing them to strive in their lives and careers, it could also be looked at as trying
to achieve a certain appearance (Fowles 82). For a very long time that certain appearance was bring
skinny and tan with bleach blonde hair. Olay is showing perfection, a feat that many strive for but

Analysis of Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven and Smoke Signals
Sherman Alexie based on some short stories included in his book, The Lone Ranger and Tonto
Fistfight in Heaven, wrote the screenplay for the movie Smoke Signals. Both the movie and the book
portray problems that Indians had to deal with, and how they dealt with it. The book is far more
complex than the movie, showing a wider variation of characters facing different situations.
In the movie there is Victor, the main character, which tries to be the typical Indian, or maybe just a
typical man. He shows just hate towards his father, who left Victor and his mother alone and fled to
Phoenix. The picture Victor has about his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though she said so many good things about his father and about things he was afraid of, Victor
did not want to show any compassion for his father. It is like the story on Real Boys, Inside the World
of Boys: Behind the Mask of Masculinity. Victor was hiding behind this mask so he would not show
his emotions. However, after the accident, he began to think about his father. He understood that no
one could be perfect and he finally saw that he really loved his father.
The book has many short stories that sometimes are connected with others. The book focuses mainly
on showing the degraded Indian society, where everyone is or will be an alcoholic. The story ?The
Only Traffic Signal on the Reservation Doesn?t Flash Red Anymore? (Alexie p. 43 53) is an example
of how the author depicts alcoholism in the Indian society. In this story there is a young Indian that
could have a nice future playing basketball. However, he turns out to be just like most of the other
Indians in his reservation. He was committing crimes and then started drinking.
By reading the book, the author showed me was that the only thing left for the remaining Native
Americans is to drink, since everything they once had has disappeared. Most part of the book is about
Indians having bad experiences in life and facing the loss of their tradition.
The book and the movie are great examples of how a man, or boy, tries to behave like a man that has

  • 2. The Second Theory Of Time The second theory of the relativity of time is used by Robert Zemeckis in the movie Back to the Future and Back to the Future Part II. Marty travels back in time in the first movie and back to the present time, and then in the second he goes into the future, then the present, then the past. Marty travels through all of these different time periods which become altered every time Marty and Doc travel in time. As they go between different time periods, Marty and Doc encounter different alternate universes that are coexisting. Every time they go into a different year they have to be extremely careful as if they disturb anything they will alter the future course of history. Robert took these events and placed them into the life of one man, making it seem as if humans can go back and manipulate the past to our liking. In this case, he used many special effects to create the reality that we can go back into time and manipulate the past to our liking. While he does not explicitly say this, it can be assumed that he went into the past to recreate it to fit his image of the future. Robert also made the movie Cast Away which uses time in a different fashion than Forrest Gump. In the movie, Chuck survives a plane crash in the middle of the ocean but is assumed to have died as he was not found. The civilized world assumes Chuck has died and has a proper funeral for him. However, Chuck is living on a deserted island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In the beginning of the movie Chuck is obsessed with time, everything must be on time and everything is run and calculated to the second. For example, Chuck demands all of his employees be on time to the second as he walks around with a stop watch making sure that the employees make the deadline. When he ends up on the island he starts keeping track of time with scratches in the rocks as tally marks. After a year or so of the approximately four years he was on the island, he loses ... • 3. The Era Of New Technology The 1990s was the era of new technology. This era consists of wars and a variety of inventions coming into our world, such as The Persian Gulf War, and the Google Search Bar. This decade was a time of all sorts of records broken and right into the history book, just like when Eilleen Collins was the first female to become an astronaut. This is a start to something big in many years to come. The Persian Gulf War was one of the great wars that helped America to be what is today. This war helped people achieve freedom and liberty in their lives. Furthermore, the United States paid for the war and it costs the U.S. millions of dollars in debt (NAGEL, 21). The war was declared on August 20, 1990. This war was declared because of Iraq s invasion in Kuwait on August 20, 1990. Iraq s leader, Saddam Hussein, ordered the invasion and occupation of Kuwait with the apparent aim of acquiring that nation s large oil reserves, canceling a large debt Iraq owed Kuwait, and expanding Iraqi power in the region (EXAMINER.COM). Persian Gulf War took place in Southwestern Asia. The U.S benefited some things not just for them, but for other countries. People said the U.S achieved freedom for other countries such as Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. These countries did not possess freedom. One thing the U.S benefited from this war, was respect. Another thing the U.S. gained during this war was allies, such as Iran. Also, the U.S. gained respect from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. And as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henri Matisse was mostly known for his work during the Fauvism movement, Pablo Picasso excelled during the Cubism movement and Paul Cezanne showed his talents through the Post Impressionism movement. Discussion Matisse s painting shows a broad open field focusing on the bright landscape with a lot of nature and the expression of sensuality and eroticism. The bodies in this painting are seemed graceful and curvy. On the hand, Picasso used geometric forms and an illusion of depth to exhibit a more suggestive kind of sensuality. In his painting, he did not use bright landscapes, but a closed and dark place that looks crowded. The women illustrated are referenced as prostitutes from a brothel located in Avignon Street in Barcelona. • 6. How Social Class Affects My Family Life And Education We are shaped by society s structures, is the primary concept of the idea developed by C. Wright Mills (Henslin). In this paper, I will demonstrate how my social class affected my family life and education. World is composed of social stratification, a system which people are divided into layers based on their property, power and prestige. This stratification labels people and causes them to think accordingly within their own stratification. It can be expressed in four major groups as follows: slavery, caste system, estate, and class. Though it can be described in slavery, caste system, and estate, these are all old forms of social stratification that are not used commonly in the present. Therefore, my paper will be focusing on the description of the class system. In social stratification, class is the only system that approves social mobility. It is also a system that is based on the physical possessions such as money and materials. Moreover, slass system is the system that allowed me to think I can achieve upward social mobility. Therefore, I aim to be part of a higher social class as I am currently a member of a working class, which is compsed of relatively unskilled blue collar... [less secure jobs,] more routine, and more closely supervised [jobs],(Henslin 268). I intend to achieve this goal by getting educated. Plate tectonics studies these restless effects to give us a better understanding of the Earth and its past. New molten rocks are poured out in the form of magma from the mid ocean ridges. The rock is recycled and re entered back into the earth in deep ocean trenches through convection current. The convection current in the mantle drives plates around either against or away from each other. These collisions give rise to earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, and continental drift. The crashing and spreading of the plates forms the landscape of the Earth as we see it today. The positions of the land masses today is a result of continental drift. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cooled magma will, in time, sink back down into the Earth in the deep ocean trenches. The mantle sinking down produces subduction zones or Benioff zones. The deepest part of the ocean resides in these areas. There are three types of boundaries where plates meet: divergent boundaries the upwelling of magma; convergent boundaries where the plates collide producing mountains, volcanoes, and earthquakes; and transform boundaries lateral movement. Transform plates are caused by fracture zones. When a rift opens from the upwelling of magma it causes a crack in the crust. As new magma rises to the surface, the crack increases caused by the pressure, resulting in a horizontal faulting. The fractured plate pieces travel in the same direction as the original plate was traveling away from the ocean ridge. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;During the early 1900 s, a theory of a super continent was developed by Alfred Wegener. He was ridiculed for his ideas that continental drift produced the present positions of the continents from a single super continent called Pangea. This theory is widely accepted today, however. There was abundant evidence for Wegener to believe in the existance of Pangea. The shape of the continents could be pieced together like a giant jigsaw puzzle suggesting that the continents were once glued together. • 12. Analysis Of The Movie Butterfield Stars Essay Butterfield stars as Bruno, a curious, stubborn eight year old whose family is relocated to the countryside when his father receives a new job as a head member of the Nazi party, working for the Auschwitz Birkenau concentration camp. Lonely and frustrated from having no one his own age to talk to, Bruno explores past the limits of his backyard. He comes across a barbed wire fence, with a young boy named Schmuel (played by Scanlon) on the other side wearing what Bruno perceives to be striped pajamas. The two boys strike up a friendship through the fence, with Bruno coming to visit Shmuel almost daily. Neither boy grasps that Schmuel is in a death camp, and when Schmuel confesses to Bruno that he is Jewish, Bruno doesn t not seem to understand why that matters. Curious as to what really lies on the other side of the fence, Bruno and Schmuel plot for him to sneak into the camp, which leads to the demise of both of them. The film is more emotion based rather than fact based, in an attempt to appeal to the audiences symphonies rather than instruct them on a historical event. It has been criticized for its accuracy, specifically pertaining to the ages of the boys. Many critics claim that boys as young as Schmuel would never have been at Auschwitz, because all children too young to work were gassed upon arrival. Others argue that the film is symbol of innocence, and the two boys reflect how children are able to look past each other s differences easier than adults. Critics also ... This is the story of how an eruption sparked one of the biggest debates in the history of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The eruption of Santorini and the invading Muslims caused the emperor to change Christian history. Emperor Leo III of Constantinople saw this eruption as a sign that God was angry with the empire. Leo was confused by this and wondered why God was angry with him while He continued to allow the Muslims to invade Christian territories. The emperor had a theory that since the Muslims were iconoclastic, which means they were against the images of religious figures such as a painting of Jesus. • 17. Critical Appreciation Of Judith Decapitating Holofernes From Whitney Chadwick third edition of Women, Art, and Society, the piece of artwork that engaged me deeply from this book is the 17th Century Italian Baroque painting Judith Decapitating Holofernes c. 1618 by Italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi. This painting is oil on canvas painting in the style of classical Italian Baroque characteristics of chiaroscuro, dramatic realism, naturalistic, and rich vivid colors. What I see physically at first from the painting is at the center of the work a violent action is being played out by two young women using a sword to behead a man s head while he s in bed. I can see the arm strength of Judith and her maidservant in the way they re holding the man down to keep him still while their killing him and in the way the artist arranges the women s arms. I also see the amazement, terror, and vulnerability Holofernes is feeling by the way Artemisia painted in such detail in the look in his unnaturally wide eyes due to shock, his mouth is open like he s either screaming for help or in pain, and how his body is contorted in an uncomfortable arrangement almost like he s trying to get up to stop this assault. What mostly draws me and holds my attention to this painting is the raw intensified emotion Artemisia can show of the three characters in this dramatic climatic scene, how theatrical she is with the blood when Judith cuts into Holofernes neck, raw emotions, and how to me other paintings seem so tame compared to Artemisia Judith. But instead Beowulf honors, guides and provides support for the prince (Beowulf, 2365 2378). In contrast, Dante the Pilgrim does not help others. Yes, he is seen as a character who pities the sinners at first but he does not help them. Instead, he wants to know their names and stories so he can put it into his notes (Inferno, XXXII). Dante the Pilgrim is using the sinners for their stories and does not care to help them at least feel better. A Christian hero is characterized for helping others because that is what Jesus did. • 19. Marketing Plan For The Local Grocery Store Essay A trip to the local grocery store may seem like a mindless every day activity of providing nourishment and basic needs for your family. However, many consumers fail to realize how much consideration, time, and money is allocated by businesses attempting to understand why consumers buy products over other similar products. Significant amounts of money are invested in neuromarketing, branding products, and developing the company s lifestyle brand to attract loyal customers. Strategic branding isn t focused on the product, but creates a feeling within the customer. The efforts of branding and neuromarketing have significant impact on how consumers purchase the items presented to them. Organizations have significantly evolved since the early 1980 s. Products went from scooping out bulk items from a barrel to neatly packaged items in a row; sometimes with four or five different labels of the exact same product displayed for the consumer to choose between. In general, most products are equal by comparison, but the brand placed on the packaging instills a sense of prestige over other inferior brands. Brands could conjure a feeling, think of Aunt Jemima s comforting presence. (Klein, 2015 p. 779) The significance of creating a life style brand for organizations meant that there were those in the industry who understood that advertising wasn t just scientific; it was also spiritual. • 20. My Best Vacation The best vacation ever! my cousin Vicky screamed from the bed next to me. I was just trying to fall sleep, but she kept talking most of the night with her twin sister Emma. We all have the same age, and this is the first vacation we have without parents, aunts, and uncles around, telling us what to do. We arrived to Los Angeles, California at 11:00 pm, checked into the hotel and tried to rest. The next day we planned to drive around the city and wait for our friend Annette, who was coming from Texas. Annette was around twenty years old, but she had been traveling around the world with her father since she was 13. I admire her, she is funny, has a good temper, and is really knowledgeable about traveling. We are going to fly together to Mexico City first, and from there to Acapulco. We planned to go to La Quebrada , it s a place in Acapulco where people do cliff diving. We had done some research about it. The divers have to climb the cliff and do a freestyle jump into the water. We couldn t wait to be there, Annette was going to be really happy too, she used to compete in platform diving when she was in high school. The hotel room phone rang pretty early the next day. Our parents checking on us, making sure we were ok. Emma talked to her mother and assured her that everything was ok and that we will be careful driving around. It was funny, I looked at her facial expressions meanwhile she is talking, and Emma rolls the eyes and nods a lot. Emma is the opposite of his sister Vicky. Vicky talks a lot but she s a scary cat, on the other hand, Emma is quieter but really adventurous. Liz, my uncle wants you on the phone! Emma announced. I picked up the phone and got myself ready for the lecture. My father was concerned that we were going alone to Mexico. I promised that we were going to stay in Acapulco a couple of days and go back to California. Don t do stupid things my father continued, and, take care of each other. Annette arrived at midday, we were happy to see each other again. We decided to go the movies. • 21. Crime In The Mid 1990s Essay In the mid 1990s, after decades of relatively steady increase, crime rates in the United States began a rapid and surprising decline. Researchers have investigated many possible explanations for this decline. For instance, Levitt [2004] argues that the decline in crime in the mid 1990s is explained by increases in the number of police, the size of the prison population, the decreasing crack epidemic, and the legalization of abortion in the 1970s. Although it may be the case that Levitt s explanations did in fact contributed to the decline in crime in the mid 1900s, it may also be the case that the exposure of lead is also an important factor that affected these rates. This suggests that there is a significant relationship between the amount of lead in bone, which is a good measure of past exposure and antisocial, delinquent, and aggressive behaviors. Another aspect of everyday life that is highly influential in gender socialization is the media. What we see on television or at the movies, what we read in the newspaper or in magazines, what we see on billboards or hear on the radio are all very significant on how we form a opinion on gender identity. Media publishers have very successfully learned to play to an audience and are extremely successful in communicating with the audience they wish to reach. Advertisers are the biggest example of this concept. Society is very apt in recognizing images seen in commercials and printed ads and viewing them as socially acceptable behavior. For example, beer companies will target the twenty to thirty year old male audiences and include scantily clad women enjoying their favorite beers. Ironically, popular women magazines also use beautiful women to promote cosmetics and beauty products. Both examples show the exploitation of female images in society. It is this societal ignorance that clouds the mind and allows the images to continue to influence what we believe to be socially acceptable. And when society is presented with something or someone out of the ordinary, which doesn t follow what we deem to be correct, we rebel and try to modify it to our socially acceptable standards. The Song Cherry Wine By Indie Rock Artist In the song Cherry Wine , written and performed by indie rock artist Hozier, it becomes apparent early on that this is not what one might consider a typical love song; nor is it about a typical woman. Although the acoustic guitar and softer melody paint a peaceful picture, the lyrics express that there is something much deeper that lies beneath its surface. From beginning to end, every verse about this woman and his relationship with her is a contradiction, which immediately sets the tone for the way he feels being with her: it s a battle. While most love songs are written in hopes of appealing to a wide audience, Hozier simply writes about the faults he has found in his own relationship and how, regardless, he can t seem to walk away. Although Hozier continuously professes his love for this woman throughout this song, there are still darker lyrics and elements that should be acknowledged as well. The second verse begins with this line: Calls of guilty fall on me/ All while she stains the sheets of some other. It s very clear in this lyric that this woman has continuously accused him of being unfaithful to her all while it is implied that she is the one who has been unfaithful. It is not just coincidence that, a few lines before, Hozier says It looks ugly, but it s clean. Somtimes, changes do not work as intended, implementation difficulties arise, or the organization s circumstances change in ways that render the planned changes ineffectual (Armenakis, Harris, Cole, Fillmer, 7 Self, 2007, p.274 ). The first step is to make your team aware of why the changes are important or necessary. Some may feel that if its not broke then why fix it approach. It is extremely important ... In this article Mr. Kaplan argues that the way Nations are viewed, both internally and externally, will change dramatically in the coming decades. One of those many objects would be the hairbrush. Everyone uses a hairbrush; people have them in their homes, somewhere hidden in their car, or even at the bottom of their purses. Numerous people, mostly women, own multiple hairbrushes without realizing it. Consequently, no one knows how important this object is, yet it being so frequently used. The common hairbrush, although taken for granted, is a household item that dates back to 1898, which consists of a variety to choose from, and can deflect self confidence if not used. Lyda A. Newman was also an African American inventor and a women s rights activist. Newman fought for women s right to vote, working with well known women s suffrage activists (Lyda Newman Biography). Newman s motive for the invention of the hairbrush was designed to promote ventilation for hair and provide storage for excess hair and impurities, as well as controlling hair with an afro like texture (Inventor of an Improved Hairbrush). The hairbrush Newman invented had elastic wire teeth along with natural bristles, an alternative to using animal hair bristles. (Lyda Newman Biography). Although the plot is about a group of rabbits struggling to find home, the story can be interpreted as so much more. Of course the book can be interpreted differently especially as times change. The general meaning however remains intact. This piece is a great example of an author speaking their voice through writing. • 43. Character Analysis Of King Henry The V King Henry the V, a strong young man who has shown to be a natural leader as he time and time again captures the hearts of people by his moving speeches. There is no denying that Henry the V is an interesting character, both fear and loved by the people around him. As much as he can be admirable leader clearly there are some very strange aspects about his character. When reading through the play one tends to wonder who King Henry really is. As he enters in different scenarios and interacts with different people we see a dramatic shift in his personality. Though on one hand it is not a bad thing, perhaps he understands what type of people want in different situation and he seems to mold his personality accordingly. On the other hand, however, one can look at this as an act of deceit even comparing King Henry to the modern day politicians who are often accused of being deceitful by putting up a character for their own advantage. All in all, it is very evident that King Henry has a multi faceted personality and he uses it to his own advantage. Shakespeare intentionally showed this in the play to show In his speech at the wall of Harfleur King Henry shows a very brutal side of himself when trying to invade France showing how merciless and how plainly vicious he can be . The purpose of this paper is to show how in the play, Henry the fifth by William Shakespeare and the film version by Kenneth Branagh both show that Henry is that although Henry is not a good person morally speaking but is a successful king .Who uses his many faces to deceive people but also create his empire .During the speech at the wall of Harfleur, King Henry shows a very brutal and harsh side of his personality very different from what he has been showing before. In the dramatic text, the speech was delivered in blank verse to show the status of who was speaking and to set the tone of the speech. In the film version, Branagh too interpreted this scene as a very intense moment by the way in which showed the scene in the film. The scene was set by putting Henry in a dark alley on his horse , when he speaks the camera was put at a low angle to make it seem as though the audience was looking up at him. • 44. The Constitutional Provisions With Reference Freedom Of... 2.1 Constitutional Provisions with reference to Freedom of Press Our constitution unlike the American Constitution does not specifically or separately provide for the liberty of press. The omission was explained by Dr. B.R Ambedkar when he observed, The press has no special rights which are not to be given or which are not to be exercised by the citizen in his individual capacity. The editor of a press or the manager is merely exercising the right of expression, and, therefore no special mention is necessary of the freedom of the press. Therefore, it is now settled that right to freedom of speech and expression in Article 19(1) (a) includes the liberty granted to press. The importance of freedom of press in parliamentary democracy was recognized, stated, re stated by the superior courts despite the fact there is no specific enumeration of this freedom. Liberty of Press is crucial for healthy development of a democratic nation and the judiciary has been extremely influential in developing the jurisprudence pertaining to freedom of Press. Liberty of Press is printing without previous license, subject to the consequences of law. In Romesh Thaper v. State of Madras, Patanjali Sastri, C.J. observed: Freedom of speech and of the press lay at the foundation of all democratic organizations, for without free political discussion public education, so essential for the proper functioning of the process of popular government, is possible. 2.2 Meaning of Trial by Media ... • 45. Analysis Of Akira Kurosawa ( 1910-1998 ) Akira Kurosawa (1910 1998) was one of Japan s most important film directors of the twentieth century. His work spanned over fifty years and included a broad range of genres from historical epics to gangster dramas. His films not only told interesting stories but also broke new ground. Many of his innovations were technical, such as his use of the long lens, his penchant for shooting with multiple cameras, and his virtuosic editing. Other innovations were tied to his emphasis on details within his films, such as elaborate period costumes and sets, western music, stunning location shots, and detailed miniature sets. As to specific reasons, I think much of it comes down a confusion between theme and technique. I don t see any reason to question Kurosawa s word that all his films were Japanese and aimed solely at a Japanese audience. However, many writers on the topic saw camera movements or set ups that resembled John Ford, read about Kurosawa s admiration for westerns and American pulp fiction, and added it up into a bland statement of Kurosawa being an essentially Western film maker. And Japanese critics, puzzled about why he was so popular in the West compared to other film makers, decided this is right. He has often been called the most Western of Japanese film directors (and is certainly the best known of them in Europe and America), but though he freely admits influence from Western directors and painters and has based several of his films on major Western texts, he ... I have recognized that it was an issue before, but I never decided to do anything about it. For my behavior modification project my goal was to reduce procrastination. I chose this behavior because I wanted to make my assignments easier. I figured if I stopped starting my schoolwork at the last minute my work would be less difficult, and maybe my grades would be better. I was really hoping that this self modification project can make me a new and improved student. To collect my data over the two week period I used a journal. The first week was baseline data, and the second week was treatment data. In my journal I wrote down each time I started doing an assignment, and put the name of the assignment along with the date it was due next to it. The American marketplace has grown increasingly congested as more and more products have entered into the frenzied competition after the public s dollars, as stated by Jib Fowles in , Advertisings Fifteen Basic Appeals. Now, in 2017, American values are changing and there is a movement of women, young and old, standing up to societies standards of beauty, saying that there is no such thing as a perfect woman, and that diversity is beautiful. Many companies have taken to that ideal by using campaigns where there are more than just tall, skinny, white models, and also going without photoshopping their photos. This is something that makes brands more relatable to everyday women, because finally there is diversity in advertisements and campaigns. For many years people of color, mentally or physically disabled people, and members of the LGBTQ community were severely underrepresented in the media. Representation is very important when it comes to appealing to a large audience, when looking at advertisements, everyone wants to see people that they can relate to. Clearly, Olay has not opted for this rout in the advertisement. Perhaps if the models did not have flawless skin and were closer in age to the women who would be buying this product, the readers would be more inclined to give it a try. Instead, an older reader looks at the models and can t relate because the reader cannot see a reflection of themselves in the models. In real life, women aren t perfect. Jib Fowles put advertising into fifteen basic appeals, number six being the desire to achieve.
