Who Is Pontius Pilate The Roman Governor In The Death Of...
Question 3: Discuss the role of Pontius Pilate the Roman Governor in the death of Jesus. Who
was he? Did he want Jesus to die? What did he do to achieve his aims? Was he happy with the
end result of his actions? Pontius Pilate was the Roman Governor during the period of Jesus
existence and is most commonly known as the judge of Jesus trial. Pilate was appointed prefect of
the Roman provinces of Judaea, Samaria and Idumaea by the Roman Emperor, Tiberius in 26 AD.
The title of a Roman prefect granted Pilate the power of a supreme judge that had the only authority
to demand a criminal s execution. His crucial responsibility as a Roman prefect was maintaining
law and order which it has been said to be accomplished through brute force if Pilate couldn t
negotiate. Initially, Pontius Pilate did not want Jesus to be put to death as he saw him as innocent
but was cautious to not offend the Jews. After examining Jesus privately, he returned to the crowd
that gathered and exclaimed that the accused had done nothing worthy of death however, the crowd
were displeased with his statement and would not settle with anything less than His death. Trying to
maintain his judgement that Jesus was innocent, he offered the... Show more content on

Despite his disciples protests, Jesus got down to his knees with a basin of water and towel and
started to wash their feet. During their supper, Jesus warned his apostles about his crucifixion
and the betrayal from one of them without naming. While they ate, Jesus broke bread and
dispersed it amongst his disciples saying, Take it: this is my body. He then took a cup filled with
wine, drank it then gave it to them which they all drank from. He told his disciples that the wine
was His blood of the covenant, which was poured out for many. This was the first Eucharist which

Cubist Collage
The readings for week five were Cubist Collage, the Public, and the Culture of Commodities by
Christine Poggi and In the Name of Picasso by Rosalind Krauss. Poggi and Krauss take two
somewhat different approaches to examine the usage of signifiers and language in Cubism
collages. Poggi takes a more personal approach at the beginning of his piece by discussing
Braque and Picasso s juxtaposed attitudes and actions towards the public and mass culture by
discussing the way in which Picasso and Braque s artworks were displayed through small dealers
specifically Kahnweiler. [125] The paradoxical element arrives from the usage of mass produced
materials like newspaper or wallpaper in the Cubist collages. Through this, he challenges not only
the hierarchical distinctions between high art and mass culture that would come to be a basis for
much of twentieth century modern art, but also challenges idea of the... Show more content on

Both of these article s respective topics are discussed chiefly through the work of Picasso with
Krauss taking a more impersonal view of the usage of signs in Picasso s work. Krauss
investigates the idea of the proper name as a signifier and how it can be used in a representative
function outside of indicating an individual by using our understanding of Picasso s Seated Bather
and Bather with Beach Ball after knowing whom the figures were modeled after [23,26]. Krauss
looks at the idea of the relationship between the signifier and the signified and how, like Poggi, she
believed signs can be manipulated to add representation in the mind of the viewer in absence of
pictorial representation

Inaccuracies In Armageddon
The movie Armageddon is a great movie, but contains many scientific inaccuracies. The movie has
many scenes that are set in outer space where many things such as gravity act different. While
watching the movie many things are portrayed to act in space as they do on Earth, which is not
true. Forces that act upon an object in space behave completely different than those that act upon
objects on Earthdue to the differences in atmosphere. There are four specific instances from the
movie where I can prove inaccuracies. In the movie when the crew was on the crater drilling,
nothing was coming out of the hole. When there is drilling taking place the rock or dirt needs to
be displaced into the surrounding area. In the movie nothing came out of the hole during the entire
drilling process. There was almost no gravity on the asteroid to be able to hold the remnants and
dust in the hole being drilled. Therefore, the dust and remnants should be up on the surface of the
asteroid and floating around in space. The way I would fix this inaccuracy of how... Show more

This could never happen because gun powder is used to create an explosion which requires
oxygen. The space shuttle had crash landed, releasing all the oxygen from within the shuttle. In
turn a gun would be rendered useless in space. There is new ammunition than can be fired in
space, but the movie also failed to show that outcome correctly as well. If a gun was shot in the
vacuum of space, the gun and whatever is holding it would be launched backwards just as the
bullet is launched forwards due to there being no gravity to holding anything in place. To fix this
inaccuracy I would show the space vehicle being blown backwards by the gun shot or I would
show the gun on the space vehicle firing blanks because of the gun not being able to fire with no

Lais Of Equitan And Bisclavret By Marie De France
THE RESEARCH TOPIC
The topic of my research is how courtly love applied the Lais of Equitan and Bisclavret written by
Marie De France.
THE RESEARCH CONTEXT
Research Questions:
1.What are the effects of courtly love on the situation of women in the middle ages?
2.Can it be between a knight and an unmarried lady?
3.How courtly love seen by society?
4.Is courtly love sinful?
5.What are the reasons behind courtly love?
Hebert Moller states that first, the female love object is, as a rule, the wife of another man; and
yet this relationship is celebrated as the source of a higher morality, notwithstanding the prevailing
religious and social sanctions of monogamy. Modern authors have unanimously realized that the
consummation of courtly love would mean adultery. The contemporaries did not present it in that
light, but rather claimed an inherent right of the lover to his lady s attention. If marriages, for
economic and political reasons, were arranged by relatives or feudal overlords, it is a mere
construction of some older historians that, for that reason, the contemporaries permitted extra
marital free love and developed a gigantic system of bigamy in which every lady was expected to
have both a husband and a paramour. Although in men an excess of love or... Show more content

English Major Essay
In recent years, the English major has faced an increasing amount of scrutiny. While the number of
English majors throughout the United States is rapidly declining, majors with roots in science,
technology, engineering, and math are praised as worthwhile and immediately beneficial.
Beginning shortly after the Great Recession of 2008 2009, humanities based majors have been
deemed expendable and trivial. President Barack Obamas 2011 State of the Union Address only
served to propel this mindset as he renewed his commitment for his Educate to Innovate platform
that specifically targets [science, technology, engineering, and math degrees] as a means of helping
to rebuild America s economic edge (Luangphinith 64). In effect, society now surmises English as
archaic and obsolete in the quick paced world (65). Although the English majoris plagued with a

The Roaring 20s Were A Prosperous Time For Many
The Roaring 20s were a prosperous time for many. New inventions and ideas grew and many
societies flourished, and the idea of the perfect American family was created, thus empowering
people of different nationalities to go to America. In the United States, immigrants and citizens
enjoyed going out to have fun. They could go to out to clubs, go listen to some jazz music or go
dancing. This time period was all about new inventions and having fun but also there was a lot a
separation of what class people were in. The upper class used all the new inventions and the lower
class did not use any high technology inventions because they were poor. Immigrants usually were
in the lower class or in the middle class depending on what kind of occupation they had.
Immigrationin the 1920s led to drastic changes in population. Immigration was very important
because of international movement during World War 1 and World War 2. They were searching
for new occupations so they looked overseas to find new opportunities, and to have a higher chance
of finding a job. This caused immigration to happen all over the world which resulted in an increase
in migration to the U.S.
Immigration and employment paragraph(s): World War 1 and World War 2 made people want to
immigrate to the United States for employment. After World War 1, people usually migrated to
New York City or Boston because there were a lot of opportunities for factory employment though
the reality was that factory work was dangerous.

Study Area Of East Harbor
Methods
Study Area East Harbor is a 291 hectare back barrier salt marsh and coastal lagoon that is located
within the Cape Cod National Seashore (CCNS), in Truro Massachusetts (Thiet et al. 2014a;
Thelen Thiet, 2009). The East Harbor system was artificially isolated from the Cape Cod Bay in
1868 when the original 1000 ft wide inlet was diked due to the construction of a causeway for
use by trains and automobiles (Portnoy et al. 2006). In 1894, a drainage system was installed
that allowed freshwater to escape the system (Portnoy et al. 2006). However, no sea water could
enter the system due to a one way flapper valve and the exclusion of the tides caused the salinity
to decline from 25 30 parts per thousand (ppt) into brackish water with a salinity of around 5 ppt
(Portnoy, 2013; Smith Medeiros, 2013). The creation of a nearly fresh water system ultimately led
to a variety of ecological problems in East Harbor (Smith Medeiros, 2013), and many native
estuarine fauna and flora were extirpated (Portnoy, 2013). The tidal restriction caused summertime
oxygen stress (Thelen, 2009) and in 2001, an oxygen depletion created a fish kill involving around
40,000 alewives (Alosa pseudoharengus) and several hundred white perch (Morone Americana)
(Portnoy, 2013). This, along with a multitude of previous water quality related problems prompted
restoration efforts to begin (Thelen, 2009). In 2002, after nearly 150 years of tidal flow restriction,
the flapper valve was permanently

Queen Elizabeth I s Speech Analysis
Queen Elizabeth I s speech can be considered as a historical political text in which Queen
Elizabeth I is giving a speech to her troops for getting prepared for the battle against Spanish
troops, the Spanish Armada, managed by King Philip II of Spain, during the summer of 1588.
This speech took place in Tilbury, in Essex, where the troops were assembled, near the Thames
Estuary. With it, Queen Elizabeth I was trying to make her troops know that Philip had reached
Englandwith his fleet in order to conquer it. This speech was found in a letter dated 1623, from
Leonel Sharp, who had been a witness when Elizabeth delivered her speech.
Due to everything mentioned above, this speech can be situated during the century of Tudor rule
(1485 1603), a glorious period of English history.
During the fifteenth century, the trade in England had been damaged. Before dying and, in order
to improve England s trade because of its importance, Henry VII, who was the king at that
moment, spent a big amount of money in a fleet of merchant ships. When he died, he left the reign
to his son, Henry VIII. In 1510 Henry married Catherine of Aragon but, years later, after several
disagreements, he got divorced and married Anne Boleyn. It meant a breakdown with Catholicism,
establishing by this way the Protestant Church. Some years later, in 1547, Henry died and ... Show

Catolic and the pope was trying to persuade both countries to attack England. Added to that,
Elizabeth realized France wanted to attack England with Mary s help, involved in several Catholic

Slavery American Slavery
Slavery in America has always been a widely discussed topic. Many of these discussions have be
focus on why slavery grew so rapidly between the late 1700 s and the mid 1800 s just before the
Civil War. The number of slaves in the south during the late 1700 s was approximately 500,000,
this number grew to almost four million by the 1860 s. There is evidence to support that the
perpetuation and expansion of black slavery in the United Statesbetween 1776 and 1860 was
influenced by greed, a since of white superiority, and legislation. A combination that would lead to
an eventual civil war. Greed was a major driving force in the expansion of black slaveryin the in the
18th and 19th centuries. This expansion of slavery was a cycle that would perpetuate itself.
Plantation owners would realize early on that the ownership of slave would increase their
socioeconomic status and the greed for this status was enormous. The use of slaves would create
higher profit margins for the plantation owners. With higher profits, plantation owners could
purchase more land, and with more land came the need for more labor (slaves) to operate the
larger plantation. A larger plantation would lead to owner coming into power within the local
government as a top land owner. The political power that came with local government leadership
also became lusted after. At the time, the greed for more money birthed the greed for more land,

The Roles Of Sophie Scholl
There were about 67 million people living in Germany during the time of the Holocaust, however
only a few had the bravery to speak out against the Nazis. Sophie Scholl was one of these
courageous people. It is evident that Sophie Scholl is a great role model who impacted Germany
because she wrote anti Nazi propaganda, fought for what she thought was right, and Germans today
admire her.
Sophie grew up during the Nazi takeover in Forchtenberg, Germany. Unlike most German families,
hers had their own ideas about the Nazi party. Her father, who was a former mayor of several small
towns in Germany, warned Sophie and her brothers about the new regime eventually abusing their
power (Biography in Context). Her parents also encouraged their children to think for themselves
and speak their minds (Student Resource Center). This parental support foreshadows what Sophie
and her brother would become. The Scholl household was very supportive of their family members.
When Sophie was twelve years old, she joined the League of German Girls. This was a pseudo
Nazi organization (Pettinger). These organizations, called Hitler YouthOrganizations, trained and
educated German teenagers to become loyal followers of the Nazi Party (Zapotczny). Initially,
Sophie excelled in the League of German Girls. She enjoyed the activities and was even promoted
to a leadership position. However, Sophie eventually became skeptical about the organization she
was in (Pettinger). As was typical

Bacterial Lawns
1. Did your bacterial lawns contain only one species of bacteria on each plate, based on lawn
appearance? If not, why do you think that is?
I do believe that my bacterial lawns contained only one species of bacteria on each plate, they are
consistent in color and appearance from the bacteria colonies from Experiment 1. There is only
one difference and it involves plate 1, the toilet handle. I was unsure if it was because of the bacteria
or in reaction to the antibiotics but around the Kanamycin ZOI there is a brighter yellow ring
around it. I thought it was strange that only around there was such a reaction but as I said I was
not sure if it was a reaction to the Kanamycin.
2. Which antibiotic was most effective in killing the bacterial lawn on each plate? Which was the

This means that the bacteria for this lawn have cells that are surrounded by a cell wall which
includes a thin layer of peptidoglycan and surrounding that is an outer lipid membrane that does not
contain the Gram strain. Yet at the same time while Kanamycin was the most effective the
Ampicillin and Penicillin had reactions as well. The Ampicillin would kill both Gram positive and
Gram negative so this could indicate that there are Gram negative bacteria in the lawn, but the fact
that the Penicillin worked as well was what was interesting. This means that this bacterial lawn
contains both gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Gram positive are bacteria with cell walls
that contain a thick layer of peptiodoglycan that retains the Gram strain. For plate 2, trashcan lid,
only the Kanamcyin worked which indicates that the only bacteria in this lawn are Gram negative,
but if that is true why didn t the Ampicillin work at all? Ampicillin works to kill both positive and
negative grams, but there was no reaction this time. Could it be that it needs more

Freshman Year Research Paper
Freshman year can be described as the worst year of high school. The effects of puberty have

Demographic And Epidemiological Transition
1)One characteristic that is similar of demographic and epidemiological transitions is that they both
focus on mortality within a population. Both examine mortality changes within a population, and
can even measure mortality within the same population, (yet demographic does this on a overall
level and epidemiological in a cause specific manner). It is clear that both transitions measure
mortality at the population level. 2)Demographic transition is focused on overall mortality while
epidemiological transition is focused on determinants of mortality. Demographic transition is

William Bradford and Thomas Morton
In the New World Bradford and Morton were both important men of our history. The stories of both
great men give us an insight into the way religion and influence affected Puritan life.
William Bradford said he believed, Plymouth people were the chosen people to live out their last
days in the earthly church (Daly pg 560). Puritan settlers came to the new world seeking a better
life and to get away from the rule of the Catholic Church they wanted to become a primitive Baptist
church like in the Old Testament. The Puritans wanted to live their lives in Old Testament biblical
way of life; when the settlers came to the, New England they thought they had landed in God s
country (Callicott). They thought they were the chosen ones the new ... Show more content on

After reading various papers on the Puritans it is hard to imagine just how against any showing of
sexual pleasure was even forbidden between man and wife, much less frolicking with Indian
women. Although that was probably not something that was widely accepted, it was not against the
law. Morton called the drinking and songs with the red and whites harmless and Bradford called
the pagan ways.
Morton felt that Bradford s, accusations were more from fear of what he did not know and
understand and was not truly backed up by fact (Daly pg 564). Could you imagine the kind of
world we would have today if everyone spend this much time and effort on who slept with who? I
am not saying that people should just sleep around with people like trying on clothes, but unless
you are hurting someone just go your own way.
Bradford felt that Morton was an enemy against God (Daly pg 565). Bradford called Morton s
conduct Lord of misrule , and Morton felt like it was harmless fun (Schoenberg). His maypole
festivities smacked of folk superstitions and pagan practices; his consorting with Indian lasses
violated their sexual and racial taboos; his hospitality to indentured servants threatened their labor
supply and social order; and his trading of guns for furs not only stole the beaver and deerskin
trade away but it also armed their deadly enemies, who became a terror unto them, who

I Have Long Advocated For Social Equality
I have long advocated for social equality and been aware of the prevalence of racism. However, my
forethought now seems insignificant compared to the degree of racism that James W. Loewen
suggests is indoctrinating the minds and classrooms of America s youth. Loewen takes readers on
an enlightening journey through his book, Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American
HistoryTextbookGot Wrong, that intends to expose the false claims and lack of information in
standard American high school history textbooks. He aims to set the record straight on how and
why American history is so misrepresented and why it is important to represent history accurately
and not limitedly. Throughout the book, he largely focuses on the shortcomings or outright
fallacies of historical textbooks in regards to racism, government, colonialism, and patriotism.
Loewen serves this book to bring about institutional change where he feels that it is needed and to
stress the importance of factual historical information and realpolitik. He displays vast amounts of
logical and thoroughly descriptive anecdotes and facts, however, the scrambled organization of his
topics, and his clear devotion and passion for the theme of social justice and anti racism present the
problem of bombardment. Furthermore, he does not appeal to his suggested audiencein adequate
rhetorical manner that is consistent with his declared purpose of the book.

Comparing Windows Server 2008 And 2012 Essay
This paper is compare and contrast the versions of Windows server 2008 and 2012. We will
explore and deliver the similarities and differences within each OS and define the benefits of each
based on the following operations.
Windows Server 2008 was built on the same platform as Windows Vista; therefore, it shares much
of the same attributes and functionalities. After revisions and improvements to the Windows Vista
platform and codes, Microsoft released Win2K8 on February 4th, 2008. This was the developer
version of Windows Server 2008, and second version called Windows Server 2008 R2 was released
a year later in July of 2009. In order to keep up with the surge of new generational technology,
Microsoft decided to repackage Windows Server 2008 R2, and re release it as Windows Server
2012. Windows Server 2012 was featured to place more of an emphasis on cloud computing and an
improved version of Hyper V.

Server 2012. Administrators who have worked with server licenses might say that the term
simplified licensing is an oxymoron, because there was no such thing as simple in Microsoft

demands for a better method of licensing. These customers were confused and aggravated by the
difficulty of finding the correct server edition that fit their needs along with trying to figure out

Essay on Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis When people think of psychoanalysis, usually one name comes to mind. This
would be Sigmund Freud. Freud, along with Carl G. Jung and Alfred Adler, has impacted the
history of psychoanalysis. Further, he has influenced the lives of the men and women during the
early 1900s. In today s society, the history of psychoanalysisis continually being discussed among
many scholars. Paul Roazen, author of Encountering Freud: The Politics and Histories of
Psychoanalysis, has dedicated his professional career to researching the impact of Freud and his
followers not only on politics but on the cultural and intellectual life of this century (Chodoff 132).

Because of this, many searched for ideas to fill this void, and some found the answer to lay
within Freud. Also, Freud s image of man was completely secular. Roazen states, this freedom
from both Utopianism and asceticism has earned Freud the contempt of ideological totalitarians
of the Right and the Left (28). Despite the reasoning that lies behind this issue, it is clear that
Freud has provided an image of man that has made him understandable without at the same time
making him despicable. It is important to remember that Freud was once referred to as a leader
during a period of extreme change in social character. Freud, who was rooted in the philosophy
of humanism and the enlightenment, was a liberal critic of the bourgeois society. (Roazen 45).
He felt society demanded many un called for hardships on man. Further, he declared that these
cruelties would led to the formation of neuroses that could have been prevented by a more
accepting attitude. Many of Freud s supporters also felt that the pressures that were laid down by
society were unjust, hence their finding hope in his theories. Looking directly at Freud and his
development of psychoanalysis, he claims that psychoanalysis is my creation; for ten years I was
the only one occupied with it (Brill 933). Freud worked as a therapist treating patients and then
applying his findings to the larger human domains. Freud once stated, I perceived ever more clearly

Research ethics provides guidelines for the conduction of biomedical research. In addition, It
educates and monitors scientists conducting research to ensure a high ethical standard is

It was noted that many ethical issues may arise, relating to eligibility and criteria in identifying the
subjects to be used for testing. It was also noted that laws and regulations were formulated based on
unethical principles that took place in the past. The most obvious ones were the Tuskegee syphilis
study, where the black male were used for the experiment. This study comprised of 600 African
American men, about 400 with syphilis cases and 200 men without syphilis, in other words, the
control group. And many of them died due to the study. It was discovered that none of them were
informed about the possible cure, neither were they treated with antibiotic (http:/

War Crime, in this experiment, thousands of prisoners were tortured by injecting them with
gasoline and live viruses, immersing them in ice water and forcing them to ingest poisons. Based
on the information gathered from the reading, I have realized that before an individual become part
of a research study, there has to be an informed consent. Informed consent promotes autonomy,
which brings about respect for the person s dignity. Therefore, in order to protect the participants in
research, the ethical principles have to be followed. Such

Clinically, the oral findings were high arched palate in all cases, malocclusion in 6 cases and
macrostomia in 4 cases while multiple impactions of the teeth were detected in four patients
(Gataa, 2015, p. 7713). Additionally, only one patient had a cleft palate. From a radiographic
perspective, all patients had zygomatic hypoplasia and seven patients had maxillary sinus
hypoplasia. Many patients also had micrognathia and short ramus of the mandible. As only two
patients had family history of TCS, six patients had TCS due to a new mutation. These results
exemplify the notion that TCS patients are all affected differently, and with varying types and
degrees of deformities, due to the fact that most cases arise from a new mutation. Living... Show

This review discussed how Treacher Collins syndrome is caused by a decline in migrating
neural crest cells as determined in the genetic study, which suggested that inhibited p53 gene
function could help to prevent craniofacial anomalies. The decline in migrating neural crest cells
then results in many oral and dental malformations as exhibited in the clinical study, such as a
high arched palate, malocclusion, macrostomia, multiple impactions of the teeth, and cleft
palate. The presence of these malformations has been shown to have a negative correlation on
the lives of those diagnosed with the syndrome as portrayed in the quality of life study. High
levels of depression and low levels of quality of life were seen in patients diagnosed with TCS.
Researchers are starting to gain more insight into the causes of TCS which could help in
determining a prevention for TCS. A definitive procedure to prevent TCS, including what triggers
the activation of p53 and the resulting loss of neural crest cells, would be a significant discovery
given the evidence of physical and emotional effects Treacher Collins syndrome causes those

Neutrophil Test Lab Report
4 Neutrophil Test: Neutrophil was isolated according to the method previously described (Hana et
al., 2008). Principle: Neutrophil was isolated using a standard density gradient separation method to
isolate neutrophils from whole blood using commercially available separation media that is a
mixture of sodium metrizoate and Dextran 500. The procedure consists of layering whole blood
over the density gradient medium, centrifugation, separation of neutrophil layer, and lysis of
residual erythrocytes. Cells are then washed, counted, and resuspended in buffer to desired
concentration. When performed correctly, this method has been shown to yield samples of 95%
neutrophils with 95% viability. Procedure: 1. Bring all reagents to room temperature.... Show more

An Analysis Of Zora Neale Hurston s Trifles By Susan...
In a male dominated society, women were believed to be fragile weaklings that depended on men
in order to survive and find happiness. In fact, they were seen as nothing more than selfless wives
and mothers. The seemingly perfect wife then, was characterized by her dutifulness and obedient
demeanor. This notion of male supremacy was undoubtedly the predominant basis of the nineteenth
and twentieth centuries. Rendered unable to voice their own opinions, women then turned to pen
and paper as a way to communicate their thoughts. From this, arose the following pieces: Kate
Chopin s short story The Story of an Hour, Emily Dickinson s poem She rose to His Requirement

The story takes place during the harsh and relentless winter, serving as a key symbol since Mrs.
Hale describes Mr. Wright as a raw wind that gets to the bone (Glaspell 19). In this sense, the
desolate environment outside parallels the atmosphere inside the Wright s home. The cold presence
of her husband has confined Mrs. Wright and created a loneliness that was unbearable, leading her
to eventually murder him.
While Glaspell communicates women s view of marriage through significance of the canary and
setting, Chopin makes use of the symbolism in Mrs. Mallard s room door along with the front
door of her home to illustrate the struggles that women during her time. After news of her
husband s death, Mrs. Mallard retreats back to her room, having no one accompany her. She
resides there long enough that her sister, Josephine, must implor[e] for admission with her lips

making herself ill. Although she does weep over the death of her husband, Mrs. Mallard was
drinking in a very elixir of life (Chopin 16). The door that divides her and the rest of the
characters represents a separation from her ordinary life and the life that she must keep private.
Only behind this door does Mrs. Mallard feel safe to confide in her feelings, which was that of joy
and a profound desire for a freedom that would belong to her absolutely (Chopin 16), without
concern for what others will make

Sports Media Changing the Sports Industry
When looking back at historical sporting moments, the impact ESPN has made on sports, sports
media and the sports industry as a whole can t be overlooked. On September 7th 1979 ESPN
launched their flagship show, SportsCenter. This moment in sports media history was a game
changer for the way fans consume sports. It is amazing that back in 1979, the concept of watching
highlights and footage of games when they were happening or just completed was unfathomable for
most people. The moment SportsCenter aired, sports marketingand media was altered to a 24/7
industry that has continued to grow to its current place as a trend leader in society. One sporting
moment in particular for myself, was the launch of ESPN360 back in 2002. This provided fans the
first broadband network that they could catch live streams or recaps of different events from
mainstream (NCAA tournament) and obscure (Bassmaster Elite). Change for the fans is seen with
so many media platforms popping up that impact the fan experience from consumer to consumer.
A historical sporting moment involving an athlete, was in the 1970 s when Coke marketed their
product with Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Mean Joe Green. These advertisements defined a
sports industry as being accessible to the public and really resonated with consumers of both the
beverage industry as well as the sports industry. The Internet has impacted the fans greatly over the
years. Internet provides sports companies with a way to

destructive power of tornadoes. It will also touch on some of the safety precaution involved in a
tornado from sirens to getting to safety. So what does cause a tornado and the effect they have?

WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
First the public is taught to recognize the environmental clues such as dark, often greenish sky,
wall clouds, large hail, and loud roaring sound like a train. The National Weather Service
broadcasts watches and warnings for tornadoes as well as for thunderstorms. The civil defense
sirens are sounded at night in conjuction with the warnings when everyone is asleep because they
may not aware of the watches or warnings, if the town has them.
Some other effects of these monsters are that people loose their houses and properties and for some
without insurance it is total devastation. There are many effects due to tornadoes and way too
many to go into on this short paper.
WHAT CAUSES A TORNADO AND THE EFFECT THEY HAVE
CONCLUSION
The effects of tornadoes are slight to major destruction and the cost can be very high up to the
loss of life. Prepare yourself, have a plan to escape to safety. If you are in a tornado prone area
then you might want to get a weather radio that has a siren to warn of impending activity.

Frogs and Wasps by Aristophanes
In the Frogs and Wasps written by the eminently best comedian of the fifth century, Aristophanes,
we see he utilized humour to exact the important message that Athens is corrupt, and on the verge
of chaos. The Athenian audience would expect to be thrust into a world of humour in the City
Dionysia, somewhere parallel to their own (e.g. the Athenian jury in the Wasps , and the failings of
the government in Frogs ). It is vital, then, that Aristophanesconveys his political and social views
through slapstick, farce, and caricature to interest the audience. This is an important component in
both plays as the audience is able to simultaneously accept his diplomatic views whilst being
entertained. After all his main point for producing his plays were to produce something with a little
fable, with a moral .
The Wasps is an absurd play, and in most of the parts, we see a lot of satiric, scatological parody
in a viciously Anti Cleon portrayal of the judicial system. Aristophanes intent is didactic (lesson
like) as he teaches his political view that Cleon s aggression towards Sparta would lead to war.
Comedy was key to the portrayal of his political message about the judicial system as it was a
very serious idea; therefore it is a key component in lightening up his difficult to swallow ideas.
The comedy is initiated with three simultaneous attacks at Cleonymus. Firstly, the simple effect of
a pun is used, as the word aspis has the double meaning of a snake as well as a

The Republicans Fight For Economic Justice And Security
Ideologies are referred as a set of ideas and values that provides a base for organised political
action. They justify and influence the different theories of society and human nature. Ideologies
have a big impact on policy making. Democratic and Republican parties differ on their ideologies
and values, therefore, impacting policy formulation. Democrats fight for economic justice and
security in the U.S. and global economies. For example, fairness is the core principle for the
Congressional progressive caucus. It also embodies national priorities that are consistent with the
values, needs, and hopes of all our people, not just the powerful and the privilege. They want to
invest in America and create new jobs in the U.S. by building more affordable housing, re building
America s schools and physical infrastructure, cleaning up our environment, and improving
homeland security. They also want to ensure working families can live above the poverty line and
with dignity by raising and indexing the minimum wage. Whereas the Republicans believe they
shouldn t be spending money on the homeless. Conservatives believe that giving away handouts
decreases incentives to work and that, generally, welfare is the enemy of freedom. As a result, The

Crusher And The Black Death
Wreaking havoc throughout Europe, The Black Death was a destructive plague that left over
twenty million dead in its track. Despite the atrocious consequences of this disease, it yielded a
favourable aftermath such as the stability of the European population and the increase in demand
for work (Damen, 2015). Similarly to The Black Death, the novel Crusher by Niall Leonard shows
that positive outcomes often appear from situations that may seem negative. The protagonist of the
novel, Finn Maguire, finds himself as the prime suspect in the murder investigation of his father,
Noel. The murder of Finn s father and his pursuit to clear his name reflect the notion that there are
trials that appear bitter to the core which are often blessings in disguise. As a result of Noel s

obtains a grand inheritance from Noel s friend.

Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Charter of Rights and Freedoms
The Canadian constitution is the foundation that forms and brings together our nation government
and its legal system. You can also consider the constitution as a rulebook. It contains rules and
regulations that political parties must follow in order to adopt, amend, or revoke a law. The
constitution has three main sources. In 1867 the British North American Act passed, which was the
first source of the constitution. A change was made to the BNA act and was patriated in 1982. It
was then officially called the Constitution Act 1867. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
were included in the amendments that were added to the Constitution in 1982. The act was
renamed Constitution Act 1982. The second source is the unwritten set of rules and conventions,
which is crucial in Canadian law. These rules usually are developed and later on used by
important politicians and government officials. The last source of the constitution is the court
rulings and decisions. When there are disputes or conflicts to solve, the courts are called upon to
resolve them. The charter of rights and freedoms is known as the most important piece of
paperwork to any living Canadian. (Alexandraowicz 104). It is made up of 34 sections and 9
subsections. The most significant subtopics in the charter are our fundamental freedoms, legal and

A Rising China Will Benefit the US and its Allies
Korea and Japan have been known for their food, their culture, and as well as the products that
have been selling throughout the world. They have been able to build their economy up as well
as be able to develop drastically to a point where they are considered to be one of the most
developed countries in the world. Though both nations have developed as well as maintained peace
with other nations; Japan and Koreahave one thing that they do not seem to be able to get along or
even resolve. Both countries have something in common in what they want to get their hands on.
What do the two nations want, but cannot have unless the other party gives it up? is the Takeshima
/Dokdo Island. It is because of such territorial dispute that it is not only... Show more content on

As years went by documents slowly started revealing Japan s true intentions for the island thus, the
Japanese Foreign Affairs Department has craftily tried to sanitize the Dokdo issue by claiming this
is a territorial land dispute (Dokdo Takeshima 13).
Though such events have occurred in the past. Today, one of Korea s and Japan s goals to claim
the Takeshima/Dokdo Island for their own is due to the abundant amount of natural resources that
can be found on and around the island. Though the island may not have enough fresh water for it
to be sustainable for a large nation to be residing on, the island does have a large amount of fish
living in the water around the island. It is already commonly known by many, that fishermen from
both nations are traveling towards the island in order to gain such marine resources. But because
of such large demand for fish located around the island, it caused conflicts between the two
countries. In 1999, a treaty was made that would help allow both countries to have fishing rights in
certain areas. Even though the two countries had the right to certain areas of water around the
island, the ownership of the seabed was not determined which led both Japan and Korea make
multiple attempts to claim the area for themselves in 2006 (Emmers 16), but no

  • 2. Who Is Pontius Pilate The Roman Governor In The Death Of... Question 3: Discuss the role of Pontius Pilate the Roman Governor in the death of Jesus. Who was he? Did he want Jesus to die? What did he do to achieve his aims? Was he happy with the end result of his actions? Pontius Pilate was the Roman Governor during the period of Jesus existence and is most commonly known as the judge of Jesus trial. Pilate was appointed prefect of the Roman provinces of Judaea, Samaria and Idumaea by the Roman Emperor, Tiberius in 26 AD. The title of a Roman prefect granted Pilate the power of a supreme judge that had the only authority to demand a criminal s execution. His crucial responsibility as a Roman prefect was maintaining law and order which it has been said to be accomplished through brute force if Pilate couldn t negotiate. Initially, Pontius Pilate did not want Jesus to be put to death as he saw him as innocent but was cautious to not offend the Jews. After examining Jesus privately, he returned to the crowd that gathered and exclaimed that the accused had done nothing worthy of death however, the crowd were displeased with his statement and would not settle with anything less than His death. Trying to maintain his judgement that Jesus was innocent, he offered the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Cubist Collage The readings for week five were Cubist Collage, the Public, and the Culture of Commodities by Christine Poggi and In the Name of Picasso by Rosalind Krauss. Poggi and Krauss take two somewhat different approaches to examine the usage of signifiers and language in Cubism collages. Poggi takes a more personal approach at the beginning of his piece by discussing Braque and Picasso s juxtaposed attitudes and actions towards the public and mass culture by discussing the way in which Picasso and Braque s artworks were displayed through small dealers specifically Kahnweiler. [125] The paradoxical element arrives from the usage of mass produced materials like newspaper or wallpaper in the Cubist collages. Through this, he challenges not only the hierarchical distinctions between high art and mass culture that would come to be a basis for much of twentieth century modern art, but also challenges idea of the... Both of these article s respective topics are discussed chiefly through the work of Picasso with Krauss taking a more impersonal view of the usage of signs in Picasso s work. Krauss investigates the idea of the proper name as a signifier and how it can be used in a representative function outside of indicating an individual by using our understanding of Picasso s Seated Bather and Bather with Beach Ball after knowing whom the figures were modeled after [23,26]. Krauss looks at the idea of the relationship between the signifier and the signified and how, like Poggi, she believed signs can be manipulated to add representation in the mind of the viewer in absence of pictorial representation ... • 4. Inaccuracies In Armageddon The movie Armageddon is a great movie, but contains many scientific inaccuracies. The movie has many scenes that are set in outer space where many things such as gravity act different. While watching the movie many things are portrayed to act in space as they do on Earth, which is not true. Forces that act upon an object in space behave completely different than those that act upon objects on Earthdue to the differences in atmosphere. There are four specific instances from the movie where I can prove inaccuracies. In the movie when the crew was on the crater drilling, nothing was coming out of the hole. When there is drilling taking place the rock or dirt needs to be displaced into the surrounding area. In the movie nothing came out of the hole during the entire drilling process. There was almost no gravity on the asteroid to be able to hold the remnants and dust in the hole being drilled. Therefore, the dust and remnants should be up on the surface of the asteroid and floating around in space. The way I would fix this inaccuracy of how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could never happen because gun powder is used to create an explosion which requires oxygen. The space shuttle had crash landed, releasing all the oxygen from within the shuttle. In turn a gun would be rendered useless in space. There is new ammunition than can be fired in space, but the movie also failed to show that outcome correctly as well. If a gun was shot in the vacuum of space, the gun and whatever is holding it would be launched backwards just as the bullet is launched forwards due to there being no gravity to holding anything in place. To fix this inaccuracy I would show the space vehicle being blown backwards by the gun shot or I would show the gun on the space vehicle firing blanks because of the gun not being able to fire with no ... • 5. Lais Of Equitan And Bisclavret By Marie De France THE RESEARCH TOPIC The topic of my research is how courtly love applied the Lais of Equitan and Bisclavret written by Marie De France. THE RESEARCH CONTEXT Research Questions: 1.What are the effects of courtly love on the situation of women in the middle ages? 2.Can it be between a knight and an unmarried lady? 3.How courtly love seen by society? 4.Is courtly love sinful? 5.What are the reasons behind courtly love? Hebert Moller states that first, the female love object is, as a rule, the wife of another man; and yet this relationship is celebrated as the source of a higher morality, notwithstanding the prevailing religious and social sanctions of monogamy. Modern authors have unanimously realized that the consummation of courtly love would mean adultery. The contemporaries did not present it in that light, but rather claimed an inherent right of the lover to his lady s attention. If marriages, for economic and political reasons, were arranged by relatives or feudal overlords, it is a mere construction of some older historians that, for that reason, the contemporaries permitted extra marital free love and developed a gigantic system of bigamy in which every lady was expected to have both a husband and a paramour. Although in men an excess of love or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Three days a week Bisclavret mysteriously disappears. His wife asks the truth behind his frequent absence. While the number of English majors throughout the United States is rapidly declining, majors with roots in science, technology, engineering, and math are praised as worthwhile and immediately beneficial. Beginning shortly after the Great Recession of 2008 2009, humanities based majors have been deemed expendable and trivial. President Barack Obamas 2011 State of the Union Address only served to propel this mindset as he renewed his commitment for his Educate to Innovate platform that specifically targets [science, technology, engineering, and math degrees] as a means of helping to rebuild America s economic edge (Luangphinith 64). In effect, society now surmises English as archaic and obsolete in the quick paced world (65). Although the English majoris plagued with a plethora of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New inventions and ideas grew and many societies flourished, and the idea of the perfect American family was created, thus empowering people of different nationalities to go to America. In the United States, immigrants and citizens enjoyed going out to have fun. They could go to out to clubs, go listen to some jazz music or go dancing. This time period was all about new inventions and having fun but also there was a lot a separation of what class people were in. The upper class used all the new inventions and the lower class did not use any high technology inventions because they were poor. Immigrants usually were in the lower class or in the middle class depending on what kind of occupation they had. Immigrationin the 1920s led to drastic changes in population. Immigration was very important because of international movement during World War 1 and World War 2. They were searching for new occupations so they looked overseas to find new opportunities, and to have a higher chance of finding a job. • 11. Study Area Of East Harbor Methods Study Area East Harbor is a 291 hectare back barrier salt marsh and coastal lagoon that is located within the Cape Cod National Seashore (CCNS), in Truro Massachusetts (Thiet et al. 2014a; Thelen Thiet, 2009). The East Harbor system was artificially isolated from the Cape Cod Bay in 1868 when the original 1000 ft wide inlet was diked due to the construction of a causeway for use by trains and automobiles (Portnoy et al. 2006). In 1894, a drainage system was installed that allowed freshwater to escape the system (Portnoy et al. 2006). However, no sea water could enter the system due to a one way flapper valve and the exclusion of the tides caused the salinity to decline from 25 30 parts per thousand (ppt) into brackish water with a salinity of around 5 ppt (Portnoy, 2013; Smith Medeiros, 2013). The creation of a nearly fresh water system ultimately led to a variety of ecological problems in East Harbor (Smith Medeiros, 2013), and many native estuarine fauna and flora were extirpated (Portnoy, 2013). The tidal restriction caused summertime oxygen stress (Thelen, 2009) and in 2001, an oxygen depletion created a fish kill involving around 40,000 alewives (Alosa pseudoharengus) and several hundred white perch (Morone Americana) (Portnoy, 2013). This, along with a multitude of previous water quality related problems prompted restoration efforts to begin (Thelen, 2009). This speech took place in Tilbury, in Essex, where the troops were assembled, near the Thames Estuary. With it, Queen Elizabeth I was trying to make her troops know that Philip had reached Englandwith his fleet in order to conquer it. This speech was found in a letter dated 1623, from Leonel Sharp, who had been a witness when Elizabeth delivered her speech. Due to everything mentioned above, this speech can be situated during the century of Tudor rule (1485 1603), a glorious period of English history. During the fifteenth century, the trade in England had been damaged. Before dying and, in order to improve England s trade because of its importance, Henry VII, who was the king at that moment, spent a big amount of money in a fleet of merchant ships. When he died, he left the reign to his son, Henry VIII. In 1510 Henry married Catherine of Aragon but, years later, after several disagreements, he got divorced and married Anne Boleyn. • 15. Slavery American Slavery Slavery in America has always been a widely discussed topic. Many of these discussions have be focus on why slavery grew so rapidly between the late 1700 s and the mid 1800 s just before the Civil War. The number of slaves in the south during the late 1700 s was approximately 500,000, this number grew to almost four million by the 1860 s. There is evidence to support that the perpetuation and expansion of black slavery in the United Statesbetween 1776 and 1860 was influenced by greed, a since of white superiority, and legislation. A combination that would lead to an eventual civil war. Greed was a major driving force in the expansion of black slaveryin the in the 18th and 19th centuries. This expansion of slavery was a cycle that would perpetuate itself. Plantation owners would realize early on that the ownership of slave would increase their socioeconomic status and the greed for this status was enormous. The use of slaves would create higher profit margins for the plantation owners. With higher profits, plantation owners could purchase more land, and with more land came the need for more labor (slaves) to operate the larger plantation. A larger plantation would lead to owner coming into power within the local government as a top land owner. The political power that came with local government leadership also became lusted after. Sophie Scholl was one of these courageous people. It is evident that Sophie Scholl is a great role model who impacted Germany because she wrote anti Nazi propaganda, fought for what she thought was right, and Germans today admire her. Sophie grew up during the Nazi takeover in Forchtenberg, Germany. Unlike most German families, hers had their own ideas about the Nazi party. Her father, who was a former mayor of several small towns in Germany, warned Sophie and her brothers about the new regime eventually abusing their power (Biography in Context). Her parents also encouraged their children to think for themselves and speak their minds (Student Resource Center). This parental support foreshadows what Sophie and her brother would become. The Scholl household was very supportive of their family members. When Sophie was twelve years old, she joined the League of German Girls. This was a pseudo Nazi organization (Pettinger). These organizations, called Hitler YouthOrganizations, trained and educated German teenagers to become loyal followers of the Nazi Party (Zapotczny). The Ampicillin would kill both Gram positive and Gram negative so this could indicate that there are Gram negative bacteria in the lawn, but the fact that the Penicillin worked as well was what was interesting. This means that this bacterial lawn contains both gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Gram positive are bacteria with cell walls that contain a thick layer of peptiodoglycan that retains the Gram strain. The presence of these malformations has been shown to have a negative correlation on the lives of those diagnosed with the syndrome as portrayed in the quality of life study. High levels of depression and low levels of quality of life were seen in patients diagnosed with TCS. Researchers are starting to gain more insight into the causes of TCS which could help in determining a prevention for TCS. A definitive procedure to prevent TCS, including what triggers the activation of p53 and the resulting loss of neural crest cells, would be a significant discovery given the evidence of physical and emotional effects Treacher Collins syndrome causes those diagnosed with ... • 30. Neutrophil Test Lab Report 4 Neutrophil Test: Neutrophil was isolated according to the method previously described (Hana et al., 2008). Principle: Neutrophil was isolated using a standard density gradient separation method to isolate neutrophils from whole blood using commercially available separation media that is a mixture of sodium metrizoate and Dextran 500. The procedure consists of layering whole blood over the density gradient medium, centrifugation, separation of neutrophil layer, and lysis of residual erythrocytes. Cells are then washed, counted, and resuspended in buffer to desired concentration. When performed correctly, this method has been shown to yield samples of 95% neutrophils with 95% viability. Procedure: 1. Bring all reagents to room temperature.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Collect 5.0 ml of neutrophil isolation media in centrifuge tube. The blood should separate out into 6 distinct bands: plasma, monocytes, isolation media, neutrophils, more isolation media, and the red blood cell pellet. If these bands are not clear, the separation process was not clean and will need to be repeated. 4. Carefully remove the top three layers (plasma, monocytes, and isolation media) using a pipette. Dispose of these layers. 5. Carefully pipette the layer of neutrophils and all of the isolation media beneath the neutrophils. Place the solution into a clean centrifuge ... • 31. An Analysis Of Zora Neale Hurston s Trifles By Susan... In a male dominated society, women were believed to be fragile weaklings that depended on men in order to survive and find happiness. In fact, they were seen as nothing more than selfless wives and mothers. The seemingly perfect wife then, was characterized by her dutifulness and obedient demeanor. This notion of male supremacy was undoubtedly the predominant basis of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Rendered unable to voice their own opinions, women then turned to pen and paper as a way to communicate their thoughts. From this, arose the following pieces: Kate Chopin s short story The Story of an Hour, Emily Dickinson s poem She rose to His Requirement dropt, Susan Glaspell s play Trifles, and Zora Neale Hurston s novel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story takes place during the harsh and relentless winter, serving as a key symbol since Mrs. Hale describes Mr. Wright as a raw wind that gets to the bone (Glaspell 19). In this sense, the desolate environment outside parallels the atmosphere inside the Wright s home. The cold presence of her husband has confined Mrs. Wright and created a loneliness that was unbearable, leading her to eventually murder him. While Glaspell communicates women s view of marriage through significance of the canary and setting, Chopin makes use of the symbolism in Mrs. Mallard s room door along with the front door of her home to illustrate the struggles that women during her time. After news of her husband s death, Mrs. Mallard retreats back to her room, having no one accompany her. She resides there long enough that her sister, Josephine, must implor[e] for admission with her lips to the keyhole (Chopin 16). Josephine is convinced that grief has consumed her sister who was making herself ill. Although she does weep over the death of her husband, Mrs. Mallard was drinking in a very elixir of life (Chopin 16). The door that divides her and the rest of the characters represents a separation from her ordinary life and the life that she must keep private. Only behind this door does Mrs. Mallard feel safe to confide in her feelings, which was that of joy and a profound desire for a freedom that would belong to her absolutely (Chopin 16), without concern for what others will make ... Sports Media Changing the Sports Industry When looking back at historical sporting moments, the impact ESPN has made on sports, sports media and the sports industry as a whole can t be overlooked. On September 7th 1979 ESPN launched their flagship show, SportsCenter. This moment in sports media history was a game changer for the way fans consume sports. It is amazing that back in 1979, the concept of watching highlights and footage of games when they were happening or just completed was unfathomable for most people. The moment SportsCenter aired, sports marketingand media was altered to a 24/7 industry that has continued to grow to its current place as a trend leader in society. One sporting moment in particular for myself, was the launch of ESPN360 back in 2002. This provided fans the first broadband network that they could catch live streams or recaps of different events from mainstream (NCAA tournament) and obscure (Bassmaster Elite). Change for the fans is seen with so many media platforms popping up that impact the fan experience from consumer to consumer. A historical sporting moment involving an athlete, was in the 1970 s when Coke marketed their product with Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Mean Joe Green. These advertisements defined a sports industry as being accessible to the public and really resonated with consumers of both the beverage industry as well as the sports industry. The Internet has impacted the fans greatly over the years. Internet provides sports companies with a way to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Frogs and Wasps by Aristophanes In the Frogs and Wasps written by the eminently best comedian of the fifth century, Aristophanes, we see he utilized humour to exact the important message that Athens is corrupt, and on the verge of chaos. The Athenian audience would expect to be thrust into a world of humour in the City Dionysia, somewhere parallel to their own (e.g. the Athenian jury in the Wasps , and the failings of the government in Frogs ). It is vital, then, that Aristophanesconveys his political and social views through slapstick, farce, and caricature to interest the audience. This is an important component in both plays as the audience is able to simultaneously accept his diplomatic views whilst being entertained. After all his main point for producing his plays were to produce something with a little fable, with a moral . The Wasps is an absurd play, and in most of the parts, we see a lot of satiric, scatological parody in a viciously Anti Cleon portrayal of the judicial system. Aristophanes intent is didactic (lesson like) as he teaches his political view that Cleon s aggression towards Sparta would lead to war. Comedy was key to the portrayal of his political message about the judicial system as it was a very serious idea; therefore it is a key component in lightening up his difficult to swallow ideas. The comedy is initiated with three simultaneous attacks at Cleonymus. Firstly, the simple effect of a pun is used, as the word aspis has the double meaning of a snake as well as a ... Despite the atrocious consequences of this disease, it yielded a favourable aftermath such as the stability of the European population and the increase in demand for work (Damen, 2015). Similarly to The Black Death, the novel Crusher by Niall Leonard shows that positive outcomes often appear from situations that may seem negative. The protagonist of the novel, Finn Maguire, finds himself as the prime suspect in the murder investigation of his father, Noel. The murder of Finn s father and his pursuit to clear his name reflect the notion that there are trials that appear bitter to the core which are often blessings in disguise. As a result of Noel s murder, Finn forms a passionate relationship with a girl named Zoe, reconnects with his mother, and obtains a grand inheritance from Noel s friend. Meeting Zoe is one of the positive things that happen to Finn as a result of his father s murder investigation. Their paths intersect when Finn is gathering information about Noel from his friends. Zoe and Finn are the first person in each other s lives that reciprocate the love and affection they have to offer. • 41. Charter Of Rights And Freedoms Charter of Rights and Freedoms The Canadian constitution is the foundation that forms and brings together our nation government and its legal system. You can also consider the constitution as a rulebook. It contains rules and regulations that political parties must follow in order to adopt, amend, or revoke a law. The constitution has three main sources. In 1867 the British North American Act passed, which was the first source of the constitution. A change was made to the BNA act and was patriated in 1982. It was then officially called the Constitution Act 1867. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms were included in the amendments that were added to the Constitution in 1982. The act was renamed Constitution Act 1982. The second source is the unwritten set of rules and conventions, which is crucial in Canadian law. These rules usually are developed and later on used by important politicians and government officials. The last source of the constitution is the court rulings and decisions. When there are disputes or conflicts to solve, the courts are called upon to resolve them. The charter of rights and freedoms is known as the most important piece of paperwork to any living Canadian. (Alexandraowicz 104). It is made up of 34 sections and 9 subsections. The most significant subtopics in the charter are our fundamental freedoms, legal and equality rights. Though such events have occurred in the past. Today, one of Korea s and Japan s goals to claim the Takeshima/Dokdo Island for their own is due to the abundant amount of natural resources that can be found on and around the island. Though the island may not have enough fresh water for it to be sustainable for a large nation to be residing on, the island does have a large amount of fish living in the water around the island. It is already commonly known by many, that fishermen from both nations are traveling towards the island in order to gain such marine resources. But because of such large demand for fish located around the island, it caused conflicts between the two countries. In 1999, a treaty was made that would help allow both countries to have fishing rights in certain areas. Even though the two countries had the right to certain areas of water around the island, the ownership of the seabed was not determined which led both Japan and Korea make multiple attempts to claim the area for themselves in 2006 (Emmers 16), but no ...
