Russia Living Conditions
In Russia, there were some prosperous peasant farmers called kulaks, but the living and working
conditions for most peasants were dreadful. The Famine and starvation were common and in some
regions. Much of Russia land was unsuitable for farming. As a result, the land was short in supply
because, by the early 1900s, the population was growing rapidly. The peasants living conditions
contrasted sharply with those of the aristocracy, who had vast estates, town and country houses and
luxurious lifestyles. The biggest problems that Russia faced is that the Tsar did not do delegate day to
day task and he also managed his officials poorly.
The opposition parties, added to the appalling conditions in the towns and the countryside, led to a

The Serpent-Vampire in Keats Lamia Essay
The Serpent Vampire in Keats s Lamia
The origin of the lamia myth lies in one of the love affairs of Zeus. The Olympian falls in love with
Lamia, queen of Libya, which was, for the Greeks, the whole continent of Africa. When Hera finds out
about their love, she destroys each of Lamia s children at birth. In her misery, Lamia withdraws to the
rocks and caves of the sea coast, where she preys on other women s children, eating them and sucking
their blood. To recompense his mistress, Zeus gives her the power of shape shifting. Perhaps as a
reflection of this versatility, the monstrous race of lamiae of Africa are composite beings, with the
heads and breasts of women, but the bodies of serpents. In this earliest incarnation, Lamia is ... Show

When Telemakhos meets Helen in Sparta, she still can charm her listeners and even jest about her
infidelity of twenty years earlier when the Greeks besieged Troy, daring all for the wanton that I was
(IV, 157). While she is not a vampire, she has caused the bloody deaths of numberless Trojans and
Greeks.
Immortal temptresses hold out that same promise of heightened sexual experience, but they add to that
the lure of an escape from the ordinary world into a dream land of perpetual youth and eternal life.
They can raise man above his mortal station. In this category we can place the Homeric goddess
Kalypso. She has tried to secure Odysseus for herself by giving him eternal youth and immortality. As
she complains to Hermes, who has come with the gods command to send Odysseus home, all her
effort has gone unrewarded:
I fed him, loved him, sang that he should not die
nor grow old, ever, in all the days to come. (Odyssey V, 142 43)
No one is grateful to such a benefactress, least of all the hero himself, though we have to remember
that he has spent seven unaging years in her earthly paradise. Her inability to win his heart intensifies
her anger at the other gods. Whatever the gods have done for their mortal beloveds, they have not
loved as she has, devotedly, constantly.
Odysseus refuses Kalypso s immortality because he glories in the very restrictions imposed by
mortality. His love for his

Bogeyman Descriptive Writing
Darkness The small pieces of gravel cut deep into my skin as I skidded along the ground away from
the cabin. I gave the figure standing in the darkness of the doorway a vicious glance. I felt the pain
growing on my knees and my cheek. My bright blue eyes started to fill with tears and what was my
sleek, smooth brown hair was messed up and dirty. I was always teased for my fear of the bogeyman
and the dark. I got my fear when something was moving under my bed in the middle of the night and
my brother said it was the bogeyman. So ever since I have been petrified at night of the bogeyman.
When I arrived to camp my class had the talk. The don t feed the animals, no walking around at night.

louder It was the bogeyman I thought. I was terrified the figure was so scary it could scare the wings
off a fly. Then I heard a noise that no bogeyman would make, a noise that a raccoon makes. Raccoons
I thought, why are they after me. They looked cute at first then up close they became feral monsters. I
ran for my life. They started to chase me from on top of the old dying trees I felt a stone hit the top of
my head. The raccoons were dropping things on my head, on the bright side, I thought at least these

it I could dive in and they lose my scent. As the gushing water became louder I noticed how long I had

The Pros And Cons Of Malware
What Is Malware? You sure have heard before terms such as virus, worm, Trojan or rootkit when
people discuss internet security. These names describe types of programs used by internet criminals or
hackers to hack and take over computers and mobile devices. All of these different terms can be
simply called malware. We can simply say that malware is a software, a computer program used by
hackers to perform malicious actions. In fact, the word malware is a combination of two words
malicious and software. The end goal of most hackers is to install a malware on your device. And once
it s installed, these hackers can potentially take control of that device. Many people have this wrong
idea of malware is being a problem only for Windows computers. And the reality is, Windows is
widely used, which makes it a big target, malware can attack any computing device, including
smartphones and tablets. In fact, the percentage of malicious software action against mobile devices is
steadily growing. (Zeltser, L. 2014) Malware in these days is no longer created by just curious
hobbyists or amateur hackers, but by experienced internet criminals to help them achieve certain
goals. These goals can include stealing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Internet attackers are constantly changing, developing new and more intelligent attacks that can
bypass anti malware programs. In turn, anti virus vendors are then continuously updating their
products and programs with new capabilities to detect new malware. To be clear, it has become an
arms race, with both sides attempting to outsmart the other. Unfortunately, internet criminals almost
always have the upper hand. As such, remember that while anti malware can detect and block many
malware, attackers are always creating new versions that will be missed. As a result, you cannot
depend on just anti malware to protect you. You have to take additional steps to protect

Similarities And Differences Between The Yellow Wallpaper...
In this essay I will be comparing the two short stories The Story of an Hour and The Yellow Wallpaper
. The Story of an Hour , written by Kate Chopin, is centered around a woman by the name Louise
Mallard and her reaction after being informed of her husbands death , On the other hand The Yellow
Wallpaper Written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman is about Jane, A young, newly married mother who at
the time is undergoing care because of her depression. Although both essays have their similarities and
differences I will be focusing mainly on the themes of Freedom, Isolation and Oppression. I will also
be focusing on how the themes appear within both short stories and do a compare and contrast about
the way the themes appear in the two short stories. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Freudian Regression theory states that Psychological repression, is the psychological attempt
made by an individual to repel one s own desires and impulses toward pleasurable instincts by
excluding the desire from one s consciousness and holding or subduing it in the unconscious .
Sigmund Freud believed that In order to face problems in life, the ego employs defense mechanisms.
These mechanisms function unconsciously to keep away unpleasant feelings. Repression was the first
defense mechanism that Freud discovered and is thought to be the most important. Repression is one
of the unconscious mechanisms employed by the ego to avoid a disturbing thought from being
conscious. Normally the thoughts that are repressed are those of guilt. Freud believed that repression
could sometimes have two stages which had to do with the aspects of personality ego and super ego
and the individual s sense of good and bad . The first stage of Repression which is called Primary
Repression is realizing and determining what is good and what is bad The Second stage of repression
starts to take place when a person notices that acting on some desires could cause anxiety. Repression
is seen in The Story of an Hour and in The Yellow Wallpaper in different ways. We can see that in The
Yellow Wallpaper Jane is a depressed woman who can t handle to be alone

University of South Florida
Tampa, U.S.A. simpsond@mail.usf.edu I. INTRODUCTION
Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days in
ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering.
Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. It was roman engineers who allowed the city of
Rome to be built from the palaces to the aqueducts. After the roman engineers built the aqueducts then
engineering evolved to a more renaissance approach including building castles and moats. Kings and
queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on their castles.
The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented calculus and put a
formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on improving machinery in
the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical field. Lately some of the more
popular feats of engineers include large skyscrapers being built across the world, and one of the best
inventions of all which is the computer. Computer scientist and electrical engineers have been at the
forefront of our most recent technological advancement and will continue to push our technological
boundaries to the limits.

Literary Devices In The Snows Of Mount Kilimanjaro
The story, The Snows of Mount Kilimanjaro, by Ernest Hemingway opens up with a description of
Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa (Downie 1). The mountain
is said to be where God resides, high up on the mountain. Different themes like relationships and
death flood the story. It starts with the main character Harry, and his wife stranded on the mountain.
Hemmingway utilizes different literary devices to bring out these themes, with the main character
facing his last moments alive. The story is full of powerful literary devices. However, it mostly
portrays symbolism and flashback. Symbolism is the main literary device that Hemingway uses
throughout the story. Animal symbolism is dominant as it is what the author uses at the beginning of
the story. In a short prologue at the beginning, Hemingway talks of a leopard carcass at the summit of
the mountain. He says, Close to the Western summit there is the dried and frozen carcass of a leopard,
(Hemingway 1). The readers may find it difficult to explain how a leopard found its way up the
mountain and what exactly it was doing wandering so high up at the summit. Hemingway uses the
leopard to symbolize power, courage, and uttermost strength, which are characters Harry had as a
young man. He hopes that he will regain these characters someday. He aspires to go back to his old
ways where he was profound and of good character during his youth, rather than the character he had
developed. While both

Essay on American Gangster
INTRODUCTION
American Gangster tells a story about how the emerge of drug traffic and trade was in the streets of
Harlem, New York. Denzel Washington plays real life gangster Frank Lucas back in the 70s that was
originally from North Carolina.
Lucas moves to Harlem and is apprenticed under a notorious crime boss Bumpy. Russell Crowe plays
detective Richie Roberts – a New York detective that has a task to bring the drug trafficking and
corruption between the police department to heel. In the movie also plays Josh Brolin the sleazy cop,
along with a host of celebrity actors and actresses.
What I found interesting of this movie was that Lucas was likable even as a terrible person who did

Lucas, more of a boutique operator, managed to bypass the Italians to establish the grisly but
exceedingly Cadaver Connection correlation from Asia s Golden Triangle poppy growers straight to
116th Street, smuggling heroin known as Blue Magic inside the coffins of American soldiers killed in
the Vietnam War.
Both Lucas and Roberts share a rigorous ethical code that sets them apart from their own colleagues,
making them lone figures on opposite sides of the law. The destinies of these two men became
intertwined as they approach a confrontation where only one of them can come out on top.
Conclusion
Lucas is later arrested along with many of his family members, on various criminal charges to include
Conspiracy, Drug trafficking and other related crimes and sentenced in 1975 facing up to 70 years in
prison. He quickly turned into a government informant, most notably against the then corrupt Special
Investigations Unit of the NYPD. Out of 70 SIU officers, 52 were eventually either jailed or indicted.
Lucas is now free and lives with his wife and eleven year old son in Newark NJ. Roberts and Lucas
are now good friends after Roberts played Lucas s defense

Effect Of Emulsifier On Ice Cream
In this experiment, we would like to prepare ice cream by using milk, cream, sucrose, stabilizer and
emulsifier. We will prepare ice cream by using two sets of formula. Group B1 and B2 will add the
emulsifier into their ice cream whereas group B3 and B4 do not add any emulsifier into ice cream. In
this experiment, our group (B3) will prepare the ice cream without adding emulsifier. Therefore, we
can study the effect of adding emulsifier on the ice cream. Firstly, we will mix the ingredients in the
orderly manner by using high speed mixer. The stabilizer is not added in this step, it is added only
during pasteurization process. After mixing, we will carry out pasteurization process. This step is
conducted by heating the ice cream mix at 71oC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The mouth coating is affected by three dimensional network structures of air cells. Emulsifier can
provide semblance of richness sensation of mouth coating by contributing to a formation of small,
uniformly dispersed air cell and protects against texture deterioration due to heat shock. (Clark,
Costello, Drake, Bodyfelt, 2009). We also study the defects present in our ice cream. Based on table 5,
both ice cream with and without emulsifier have defects in its flavor. Both ice cream taste too sweet.
This is due to imbalance of the ingredients used during ice cream making. This defects can be
overcome by reduce the amount of sucrose used. For defects in body, ice cream with emulsifier has
gummy body. It is an indication of pasty and sticky body. This is probably due to over stabilization,
very high solid content and low overrun. Excessive stabilizer and sucrose content will contribute to
this defect. For the ice cream without emulsifier, it has a heavy body. It is indication of soggy, doughy
and putty like body. The factor causing this defect is almost same as gummy body which is high total
solid, over stabilization and low overrun. Therefore, we can overcome both defects by reducing
amount of stabilizer and sucrose as well as incorporate more air into ice cream mix during freezing

How Does Pink Floyd Represent Money
Pink Floyd s song Money explains the deeper and darker side of money and how it can be used for
temptations, lust and, greed. The first line of the song says Money get away, I perceive this as a way of
saying money was doing evil things to David Gilmour (or the song writer) and needed to be pushed
away from money. Obviously Pink Floyd was not pushed to far away from money because this album
sold 34 million copies, but that s beside the point. Regardless song makes you believe everyone is
greedy deep down because of money, everyone (including myself), wants a nice job, a nice car and,
some nice clothes on their back. Coupled with many habits, substance abuse and many other things,
money can uniquely be just as addictive, when people get

Analysis Of Tomb Of The Warrior
The Wonders of Woodturning
Woodturning is the action of shaping wood with a lathe (Webster s). The lathe is a machine for
turning, that is, for shaping articles of wood, metal, or other material, by causing them to revolve
while acted upon by a cutting tool (Webster s). While writing my research paper I will research many
things such as: different types of woodturning, the education and training it takes to become a
woodturner, the salary that one makes with this being a career, the pros and cons of being coming a
woodturner, also the tools and techniques to using a lathe. The history of woodturning goes back to
before the third century ( Brief ) It is proven that the Etruscans were the developers of wood turning.
Tomb of the Warrior is where the first piece of turned wood found in that area ( Brief ). The Etruscans
were not the only people using the lathe in this time period ( Brief ). A bowl is the oldest artifact that
has been discovered ( Brief ) The bowl was discovered before the sixth century ( Brief ) Throughout
the years the lathe has been advanced. The earliest making of the lathe is from a known Egyptian wall
relief carved in stone in the tomb of Petosiris dated some 300 BC ( King ). Middle Eastern and eastern
lathes of this type was operated at ground level by two men ( King ). One person provides the power
by pulling backwards and forwards on a cord or leather strap wrapped around the object while the

Analysis of A Savage Life Essay
Through the use of anecdotes in the article A Savage Life , Suzanne Winckler effectively points out
that it is important to understand where your food comes from. Winckler helps convey to readers that
while butchering animals is no fun, it is necessary for the survival of omnivores. She argues that meat
eaters are out of touch with reality; instead of recognizing that an animal must be sacrificed for their
meal, most consumers mindlessly devour the food on their plates without a thought of where their
food came from. Winckler states I am too far gone in my rational Western head to appropriate the
ritual of cultures for whom the bloody business of hunting was a matter of survival (634); in this
statement she adequately appeals to logos ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this proclamation, Winckler successfully appeals to pathos because she makes it simple for
the audience to see the connection between a newborn and a chicken about to lose its life. Both
chickens and newborns are ignorant to the world and rather helpless comparing a human to the food
that one eats helps to put the killing of a chicken into perspective. Winckler then gruesomely explains
what it is like to behead a chicken; appealing to both pathos and ethos: Headless chickens don t run
around. They thrash with such force and seeming coordination that they sometimes turn back flips
(633). By using imagery to describe this horrific requirement for killing a chicken, Winckler is seen as
a credible and factual source. After slaying her first chicken, Winckler realized why cultures, ancient
and contemporary, develop elaborate rituals for coping with the grisly experience of killing any
sentient creature (633). She appeals to logos in this quote by informing readers of the epiphany she
came to taking them through her mind s thought process; this makes her come across as a logical
being, not a demented human. By appealing to logos in this quote, Winckler invokes thought in
readers minds; she productively addresses that killing animals is disturbing and off putting but
necessary for survival, since most nations perform rituals

The Value Of Loan Payment Essay
Annuity Due an annuity due in which all the cash flow occurs at the beginning of each period ( Titman
et al, 2014,p. 167). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the beginning of the
period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional front. The
outstanding interest rate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight
variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of interest/m)
^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times compounding occurred
in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance amount of loan one owes must
be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman et all, 2014). The information
regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair idea about how the loan financing
occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and interest affect the amount of any
loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration such as refinancing mortgage loan
cost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as appraisal fee, legal fee, origination
fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by getting attracted to lower interest rate.
The refinance must put some extra money aside to pay the refinancing cost.
Future Value of Annuity payment due PMT [(1+ i) ^n 1 / i] (1+ i).

Passover The Prince Of Egypt
Hollywood is known for creating its classic movies that are cherished long after they were released.
Some of the greatest movies of all time are animated, one of them being The Prince of Egypt. This
time honoured film was based upon the true story of the Jewish ancestors in Sefer Shemot. To some
extent the movie was spot on but, there were a handful of differences between the movie and the
history. The addition of character traits, songs, and events, reshaped the story of Passover and made
the movie a success. The first observation noted is the addition of character traits. For example, the
brotherly bond between Moshe and Ramses. In both the movie and the history, Moshe was raised in
the Egyptian palace. But in Shemot, Ramses is not a character. ... Show more content on

Hollywood attempts to adapt all of the original story without boring or offending the audience. To do
so, Hollywood removed and added scenes to the film. The first example is when Moshe and Ramses
are chariot racing throughout the palace. Things get out of hand and they end up destroying a large
and an important statue. Their father Pharaoh gets very cross with them and punishes them for their
actions. This scene does not appear in Shemot but Hollywood adds this scene to represent the brother
s fun personalities and what it is like growing up in the Egyptian palace. A second time this is seen is
the ceremony held for the new prince of Egypt, Ramses. Moshe also receives a new title, the Royal
Chief Architect. As a gift from the magicians, they give Ramses captivity of Sephora. Ramses declines
and gives her to Moshe. He embarrasses her in front of all the citizens of Egypt by making her fall into
the fountain. Again, none of this happens in history and Sephora is only introduced when Moshe saves
her at the well, which does happen in the movie. ‫ב‬ ‫פרק‬ ‫צאנם‬ ‫וישקאת‬ ‫ויושען‬ ‫משה‬ ‫ויקם‬ ‫ויגרשום‬ ‫הרעים‬ ‫ויבאו‬.
Hollywood does this to show maturity and character growth for Moshe and showing the viewers that
Sephora is a strong female lead. The third example is not an addition but an important scene in history
that was cut from the film. In Sefer Shemot, before exiting Egypt the Jews baked unleavened bread

The Cost Of Cost Costing
Procedure costing is utilized when there is large scale manufacture of comparative items, where the
expenses connected with individual units of yield can t be separated from one another. As such, the
expense of every item delivered is thought to be the same as the expense of each other item. Under
this idea, expenses are amassed over a settled time of time, abridged, and after that designated to the
greater part of the units delivered amid that time of time on a predictable premise. At the point when
items are rather being produced on an individual premise, occupation costing is utilized to amass costs
and appoint the expenses to items. At the point when a creation procedure contains a few mass
assembling and some modified components, then a crossover costing framework is utilized.
Cases of the businesses where this kind of creation happens incorporate oil refining, sustenance
generation, and substance preparing. Case in point, how would you focus the exact expense needed to
make one gallon of flying fuel, when a great many gallons of the same fuel are spouting out of a
refinery consistently? The expense bookkeeping technique utilized for this situation is procedure
costing.
Procedure costing is the main sensible methodology to deciding item costs in numerous commercial
enterprises. It utilizes the greater part of the same diary entrances found in an occupation costing
environment, so there is no compelling reason to rebuild the diagram of records to any huge degree.

How Does Ayn Rand Use Gender In Atlas Shrugged
In her book, Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand uses a fictional story to critique the end result of several
commonplace ideologies. The book most closely deals with the ultimate result that stems from a
Marxist slogan, From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The world that Rand
creates has few differences from reality at its start, but as the story progresses, real world ideologies
are taken to the extreme, and societal collapse appears to be imminent. Much of this is revealed
through the thoughts and actions of a character that appears to be Rand s self insert, Dagny Taggart.
Dagny finds herself alienated from both her peers and those in charge of industry based on her beliefs
and her gender. Rand uses Dagny s struggle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her gender also seems to contribute to the disdain that many characters hold for her. Because of
Dagny s refusal to excuse shortcomings for any reason, she pays little attention to any sexism in her
profession. Since much of the book is written with her thoughts at its forefront, Dagny s alienation
based on gender is easily forgotten. However, it is still evident. Rand does not ignore sexism; she
merely refuses to overplay it. One of the rare mentions of Dagny s gender in her work is found on
page 771, where Bertram Scudder introduces Dagny on his talk show with, the last descendant of an
illustrious name in our industrial history, the woman executive possible only in America. This
comment is brief, and appears harmless, but there is a deeper significance within it. Scudder uses the
words, only possible in America, to attribute Dagny s success to her circumstance, detaching it from
her own effort. This is one of the ways that several characters in the book justify their prejudice
against anyone who is better off than them; they attribute any achievement or detriment to
circumstance, minimizing the accomplishments of others and excusing their own behavior. The
characters who exhibit gender bias against Dagny are not limited to men. In fact, much of the sexism
of which she is subject comes from other women. Readers are exposed to this in a brief encounter with
a minor character named Betty Pope, who expresses her disdain for Dagny, calling her a grease
monkey. . .posing around like a big executive, (Rand, 73). She then comments on Dagny s femininity,
or lack thereof, implying that running a railroad is a task that is beneath a proper woman. The next
obvious drag on Dagny s femininity comes from her brother s second source of companionship, his
wife Cheryl. Cheryl Taggart s first encounter with Dagny is not a friendly one, as she seems to feel the
need to put Dagny in her place. She

What Does The Purple Symbolize In The Color Purple
Through the use of a symbol, the author can deliver a powerful message. A symbol contains the ability
to change the mindset of characters and enlarge literary meaning. In the book The Color Purple, Alice
Walter uses the color purple to symbolize Celie s transformation into a poised woman and God s
influence on her life.
Although the color purple does not appear many times in the novel, purple associates with Celie and
her journey from a young girl to a confident woman. As a young girl, Celie expresses that purple is her
favorite color because purple represents the beauty that she desired. When Mr. s sister is not able to
buy the purple clothing that Celie wanted, the lack of purple symbolizes the lack of beauty that Celie
sees in herself because others do not find her desirable. Purple appears more often after Celie s
relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of her life, Celie has barely any purple in her life because she is surviving. Through
trying to survive, Celie dies emotionally, and she cannot see the good in anything. Shug Avery points
out purple to Celie; Shug shows Celie that purple is a manifestation of God because the color seems
rare in nature. She tells Celie that purple is the way the world tries to please us back. According to
Shug, the beauty of God s creation includes all creation because God expresses his/her love through
giving life pleasure. Similarly, Shug suggests that people demonstrate their love for God by taking life
s pleasures. Given Shug s advice, Celie begins to see the enjoyment in her life and discovers that God
wants her to notice the beauties of his/her creation the same way Celie wants to be noticed and loved.
Despite her social constraints, Celie learns that God intends for the enjoyment of life just as God
intends the color purple. As Celie learns to love and live, she decorates her room in bright colors,

Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, Willy Loman Comparison Essay
Still, the Truth Remains
An immense desire for personal satisfaction, and extraordinary reputation can often result in a sickly,
perverse distortion of reality. In Sophocles Oedipus Rex, a man well known for his intellect and
wisdom, finds himself blind to the truth of his life, and his parentage. William Shakespeare s Hamlet
also contains a character that is in search of the truth, which ultimately leads to his own demise, as
well as the demise of many around him. Arthur Miller s play, The Death of a Salesman, tells of a
tragic character so wrapped up in his delusional world, that reality and illusion fuse, causing an
internal explosion that leads to his downfall. Each play enacts the struggle of a man attempting to

Oedipus foolish decisions ultimately lead to his downfall in the play. Oedipus chooses to kill Laios.
He chooses to marry Iocaste. He chooses to forcefully, and publicly, assume the mission of
discovering the identity of Laios murderer saying ironically, I say I take the son s part, just as though I
were his son, to press the fight for him and see it won, (633). He proceeds on this mission and chooses
to ignore the warnings of Creon, Iocaste, Teiresias, the messenger, the shepherd, and anyone who
attempts to stand between him and the truth; and, he chooses to blind himself. In the end, Oedipus
most foolish choice prevails throughout the play; the choice of illusion over reality ultimately costs
him his life.
Similar to the quest for truth in Oedipus case, so does Hamlet lead to his own decease. In the first act
of William Shakespeare s Hamlet, after Hamlet is aware of the tormented ghost of his father walking
on the ramparts, he goes to witness it for himself. This immediately exemplifies the theory that
Hamlet, like Oedipus, is in search of the truth, until he realizes it is too much to bear. Subsequent to
seeing the apparition, he is convinced to avenge his father s murderer. The ghost tells him, Revenge
his foul and most unnatural murder, (29). As Hamlet lays the trap for the new King Claudius, he is
procrastinating in order to solve his self doubt. Even after the ghost tells Hamlet how his father was
murdered, Hamlet has the players act

Paley s Arguments On The Existence Of God
My argument and ideas are based on parts of Thomas Aquinas and William Paley s arguments on the
existence of God. As a Christian, at some point in time you wonder or start to question religion. Does
God exist? I feel as though this is a natural question people ask through their personal spiritual
journeys. The existence of God is provided by the premises of a first mover, a first causer, the proof of
possibility and necessity, and God being the designer of the universe, therefore God exists. The natural
world must have had a maker. Genesis 1:1 says, In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth. I wonder if God made the universe, who made God? God is the transcendent personal cause of
the universe, exists independently, there is no beginning. Therefore, nothing caused God. All humans
have attempted to find the answers to the great questions of life. Like where did I come from or what
is wrong with me and the world? We all seek answers, we all want wrongs to be set right, and we all

The Plight of Immigrants to Boston
Since its conception in the early 1600 s, Boston, the so called City on a Hill, has opened its doors to
all people of all ethnic and religious background. At times there were many who fought to prevent the
immigrants, while other people, at the same time, helped those who made it to the Americas, more
specifically, Boston to make a new life for themselves. The immigrants from Ireland were not
unfamiliar with this trend in American history. More often than not, the Irish immigrants were met
with adversity from the native Bostonians. Founded by the Puritans in the late 1600 s, Boston and its

Unfortunately, the Irish Catholic immigrants were not looked very highly upon at first. The Puritan
citizens of Boston often looked those that actually expressed their religious, papist beliefs in public
with suspicion and fear. These Puritans continued to regard Catholicism as both a subversive political
menace as well as a fearsome religious heresy. This, considering the fact that those same Puritans and
Protestants came to the Colonies in search of religious freedom, was quite bold on their parts. For
example, many Roman Catholics were excluded from liberties and rights that other citizens had. They
were often placed under unusually severe limitations on their everyday life especially on those actions
where religious believes played and important role. Following the Revolutionary War, some tolerance
for Catholics was present there was a sufficient atmosphere of forbearance in Boston to accommodate
the handful of Roman Catholics who had now begun to practice heir religion openly. This new found
tolerance could not have come at better time. After the Revolutionary War, larger numbers of Irish
immigrants were joining their friends and families in America. From 1825 to 1830, approximately

Film Analysis Of The Romantic Genre And Movie Rocky
Genre theory is used to study films and put them into a classification so that audiences know what
type of film it is before they see it. Genres are categories based on the story of the film, sometimes the
actors and actresses, or even the directors. All films fall under a genre or sub genre category. Romantic
Comedy is an example of a genre which is light hearted, humorous story involving people in love,
sometimes overlapping with subgenres such as screwball comedy teen comedy, or gross out comedy. (
Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014, table 4.1). This paper will focus on the romantic comedy genre and movie
Rocky. It will take a better look at the specific conventions of this genre and how this movie fits the
gangster genre. Romantic comedy films create a comic climate through a series of cues to the
audience: subject matter is treated as trivial, jokes and physical humor make fun of events, and
characters are protected from harm (Grindon Leger (2015). Romantic comedy films usually have a
couple that meet and fall in love in some way throughout the movie. In the movie Rocky Sylvester
Stallone as Rocky meets Adrian at the pet shop and realizes she is the women he wants to be with.
Rocky is a want to be boxer at the time who wants to be a professional boxer and knows Adrian s
brother from the gym. When Rocky sees Adrian through the window of the pet shop he uses the
excuse that he buys a fish and asks her out. Adrian agrees and she is a very bashful lady, she dresses
and looks very homely. Rocky and Adrian starting dating and she supports him through his boxing
career. The couple falls in love and they get married. Adrian starts dressing nice and gets contacts to
the point you see her transform into a beautiful lady by the end of the film. The genre of Romantic
comedy is pairing two individuals into a couple with some comedy which Rocky proves to have. The
comedy part would be where Adrian asks Rocky why he boxes and he says because he can t dance or
sing . Throughout the film there are little conventions to show the comedy. The film Rocky the first
convention would be the setting. In the film it is set in 1976 in the low income part of Philadelphia.

Resistance of Spot Welding on Galvanized Steel Sheet
Literature review starting with the research topic of the modeling and analysis of resistance spot
welding on galvanized steel sheet used in car body manufacturing.
In the process analysis of resistance spot welding on galvanized steel used in vehicle body
manufacturing, the quality of spot weld is checked from the tensile strength and shear strength
properties of the spot weld. The four important parameters in this analysis are:
a. Weld current
b. Weld time
c. Pressure
d. Hold time
These four factors determine the quality of weld. For the first stage of analysis, non linear behavior of
the process become one of the main problem. So the author proposed an Artificial Neural Network
(ANN). This Artificial Neural Network is capable of dealing and gives accurate result for non linear
systems. This research paper aims to give the proper solution to control the process input parameters
to make better spot weld joints with specified strength. In the second stage of the research work,
Genetic Algorithm with fitness function based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model was used
for determining a set of optimized process parameters.
At the end of research paper it is concluded that the analysis shows that there is a non linear
relationship between weld parameters and tensile shear strength properties of spot weld joints. The
proposed Artificial Neural Network was very much effective for modeling the non linear systems. The
analysis conducted by the use of Artificial

Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Plans
Retirement Plans Companies have the option of selecting the best pension plan for both the employee
and the employer. There are several different types to plans available, but the most common are
defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans. Each plan offers different incentives for both the
employer and the employee, which makes their values different for every situation. Defined Benefit
Plans Large corporations under which the employer promises to pay a retiree a stated pension, often
expressed as a percentage of preretirement pay, which is traditionally used and known as a defined
benefit plans (Cascio, 2013, p. 483). The most common formula for defined benefit plans couples an
employee s years of service and their final average pay, to determine the amount of their retirement.
Employers then pay into the fund each year to cover the expected benefit payment for the employee.
The majority of defined benefit plans calculates earnings over the last 3 to 5 years of service for a
prospective retiree and offers a pension that is about one half this amount, which varies from 30 to 80
percent, adjusted for years of seniority (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2014, p. 466). The following is

understand and most convenient. Astronomy and mathematics were regarded as the playthings of
intellectuals. They were accounted as having neither philosophical nor theological relevance. There
was genuine puzzlement among Churchmen that they had to get involved in a quarrel over planetary
orbits. Aristotle had refuted heliocentricity , and by Galileo s time nearly every major thinker
subscribed to a geocentric view. Copernicus had delayed the publication of his book for years because
he feared not the censure of the Church, but the mockery of academics. It was the hide bound
Aristotelians in the schools who offered the fiercest resistance to the new science. Aristotle was the
Master of Those Who Know; perusal of his texts was regarded as almost superior to the study of
nature itself. The Aristotelian universe comprised two worlds, the superlunary and the sublunary. The
former consisted of the moon and everything beyond; it was perfect and

Total cost structure suggests that the costs they will incur during the business would be 8,196,000 per
annum and the revenue generated for the project would be 12,100,000 per annum.
The total profit before tax for this business would be 2,809,000 per annum and return on capital before
tax would be 112% for running on full capacity which at the same time is to be acquired after 3 years
as suggested in the report.
Other Facts As mentioned in the case the cold storage will operate at its full capacity from the start as
there is more demand in the market to supply. Secondly, there is an opportunity available for cold
store to increase its profitability through trading. So there is an expansion opportunity for cold storage.
Managerial problems would be at low level for cold storage; these problems might emerge after
expansion in trading. There is also the opportunity of expansion with the chain of cold storage. On the
other hand for knitwear all the numbers mentioned in the report are acquired when the facility is
operating at its full capacity which is after 3 years. The profitability would be affected by the variation
in the prices which consisted of major part of cost of production. There is an intense competition in
this industry which will affect the sales prices as well and eventually profitability. Huge promotional
efforts are required in this industry to overcome competition which would incur

The Figures Of The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art
The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each
culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In ancient
Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art, people
were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very human and emotional. The way humans
have been depicted through sculpture and the reasons behind these canons have evolved and changed
over time.
The earliest examples of the human form in sculpture can be found in the paleolithic era. While in the
Paleolithic era humans were rarely depicted in paintings, they were commonly depicted through
sculpture in small figurines. The majority of these figures were female, with very few males, and over
two hundred have been classified as Venus figurines. These figures were almost always made with
exaggerated breasts, stomach, and hips, which is unlikely to be how women looked during this time.
The proportions were symbolic and not meant to represent a real woman. This is shown in the piece
Venus of Willendorf, a Paleolithic era sculpture. This figure is fairly small at only four inches high,
and it is unable to stand up on its own (see fig. 1). Like most sculptures around this time period, it was
made to be easily carried as the paleolithic people were nomadic (Zygmont). Oddly, she has no
carving on her face to indicate her facial features, such as eyes, a nose, or a mouth, while

The Economic Policies Of Supply Side Economics
Ever wondered why you have to pay those extra couple of cents at the grocery store? Or why gas
prices seem to be constantly fluctuating? The answer lies within a nation s economic policy. Economic
policy is the actions taken by a government to influence its economy. Types of economic policy
actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of government
expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. Economic policy hopes to
accomplish economic growth and a stable economy. More specifically, the federal government hopes
to accomplish stable prices, economic growth, and full employment by its economic policy.
Economists debate over three economic policies: supply side ... Show more content on

The methods that supply side economics uses to improve economic growth are to lower marginal
taxes and less government regulation. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan that
would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great advocate for
supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply side economics is
based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not always work. For
example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax revenues did not rise.
This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order for the economy to be
successful.
Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic
activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services.
Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great Depression
when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by John Maynard
Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. Aggregate demand is the total level of demand for desired
goods and services, which is made up of the sum of consumption expenditure, investment expenditure,
government expenditure, and net exports. Demand side economics utilizes methods such as increasing
the buying power of the lower and middle classes, which increases the demand for more goods

The Most Popular Destination Of The Jewish People s...
Masada derives from the Hebrew word mezuda, meaning fortress or stronghold. Currently, it
represents one of the Jewish people s greatest symbols of intransigence. In the name of tradition, some
inductees to the Israeli Defense Forces take their oath of loyalty to the Jewish state on top or at the
Western Wall of Masada, as remnant of the sacred Temple in Jerusalem; The oath ends with Masada
shall not fall again. 1 Next to Jerusalem, it is the most popular destination of tourists visiting Israel
today. The fortification was built by Herod the Great, King of Judaea, who reigned between 37 BCE
and 4 CE as a palace complex for himself. The overall product of Masada was an engineering
achievement with it s architecture and structure, making it habitable in time of emergency. The
geography also provided a natural defense for Masada, which helped Jewish sustenance during their
last form of resistance against the Romans. Evidence of a siege occurring in this ancient plateau
thousands of years ago are primarily sourced by the reminiscence found by archaeologists, as well as
first century Jewish Roman historian Josephus. To further understand the history of Masada, prior
experiences of society at the time shall be considered; the Jewish society has been condemned and
conquered throughout history, as well the Romans height of imperializing and conquering being
executed. The siege of Masada consisted of the Jews retreating from their destroyed civilization,
Jerusalem, to the strategic

Literary Analysis Of Roman Fever
In Roman Fever by Edith Wharton s, Grace Ansley and Alida Slade begin to discuss their past and
present with one another revealing some skeletons in the closet. Wharton wanted the readers to focus
on the betrayal from a so called friend Mrs. Ansley. Furthermore, Wharton wanted the readers to think
about deceit in the story by actively misleading Mrs. Slade. In the end, what was noted to be
miserable, gains notoriety by revealing the ultimate secret.
The setting of Roman Fever takes place in a Roman restaurant terrace. Surrounded by beautiful
sunsets and prior history, It tends to take a toll on both women that leads to a great deal of emotion.
As young aged women in Rome, young Grace was always sweet and quiet. Alida was engaged to
Delphin. Suspecting that her friend may have feelings for her fiancé, Alida wrote a misleading letter to
Grace, requesting that they meet at the Colosseum, signed with Delphin Slades initials. However, the
temperatures near the Forum and Colosseum at night can be brutal, and young Grace is liable to
become ill. It ultimately led to Grace and Alida s friendship to deteriorate.
One can find it rather difficult to believe that these two women were actually childhood companions.
They appear to be the opposite of one another. Mrs. Slade, who is described as fuller, and higher in
color, with a small determined nose supported with vigorous black eyebrows, (Wharton) seems to be
as arrogant and envious of Mrs. Ansley. Mrs. Ansley, however, was

Doing Business in Saudi Arabia Essay
International Business
Saudi Arabia s Dynamic Culture
Introduction The American way of business differs from many other countries across the world. Each
company has their own set of tactics that they use to close big deals. Businesses from Saudi Arabia, on
the other hand, tend to do things a bit differently. They take pride in getting to know the individuals
from the other company before even disclosing any information to them. Meetings sometimes take
place in less than formal locations such as coffee shops and cafes. The religious and social differences
between the United States and Saudi Arabia make it challenging for Americans, unaware of the way of
Saudi life, to do business there. They may experience cultural shock or even ... Show more content on

(Martinez Carter). When doing business internationally, it is important to consider how businesses
operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own, businesses tend to be deal focused
where people are more task oriented. Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S.
communication style because the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi
Arabia, on the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with friends
ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family centered society where trust of
others is highly correlated with the degree of familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for
businesses here to take a long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is
important when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a
bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). The relationship focus businesses will not be so quick to conduct
a business deal. They would rather take the time and learn about the business and individuals they are
dealing with.
The deal focused businesses like to get right to business with as little time wasting as possible. It can
not be determined that one is better than the other. However it is more reasonable to follow what your
culture defines as more common. The Saudi way of life is based around religion and family. There are

Addressing Cultural Competence For Improving Healthcare...
Addressing Cultural Competence for Improving Healthcare Quality Improving diversity in health care
setting is important in patient care. Cultural competence is approach to enhancing healthcare delivery
that has been promoted broadly in recent years. By definition cultural competence in health care
describes the ability of systems to provide care to patients with diverse values, beliefs and behaviors,
including tailoring delivery to meet patients social, cultural, and linguistic needs (Betancourt, Green,
Carrillo, 2002) .The increasing diversity across the nation could create many challenges for health
care providers .As the United States becomes a more racially and ethnically diverse nation, healthcare
systems and providers need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cultural competence plays a significant role in health care delivery. There is a lack of cultural
competence in the U.S. heath care. Despite current effort to deal with the issue, the problem still exist
and many patients are suffering from it impact. Many people are not being able to get adequate care
due to the lack of communication, languages, beliefs, values, perspective, and customs. Cultural
competence barriers are critical in reducing health disparity. Those barriers include: lack of diversity
in the healthcare settings, lack of system of care that can address the needs of various populations,
inadequate communication between healthcare providers and patients of distinct ethnic, racial,
language, belief, customs, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Lately many hospitals across the nation
took the imitative to start promoting cultural competence by implementing different programs that
help both the patient and health care providers. Cultural competence helps to improve access to high
quality of care that responds to the need of the patients. Lack of cultural competence between patients
and healthcare providers can impact the outcome of care provided. Furthermore, a lack of culturally
sensitive care can compromise the quality of the healthcare that the patient receives (Anderson,
Scrimshaw, Fullilove, Fielding, Normand, 2003). Healthcare providers have to understand they own
worldviews and the patients, while avoiding categorization of patients. In

Coming To America Passage Analysis
Welcoming. Belonging. Sense of Purpose. Everyone wants that. Without it we feel naked, incomplete.
Ultimately, it is what mankind really strives for. While food, water, and shelter are important, there is
no purpose to life without that sense of belonging. Kao and her family never really felt belonged
anywhere, and they struggled to feel a sense of purpose in their home .
My favorite passage in the book, is when Kao is telling her story of her adjustment of coming to
America. This passage is part of the third section of the book, The American Years. In the section, Kao
and her family had just arrived in their new tiny home in Saint Paul, Minnesota. While they had
training of what to expect from America, it did not prepare them well enough for what was to come.
Their arrival was anything but welcoming as they were greeted with ... Show more content on

In the passage, Kao says, For the first year and a half, we wanted to be invisible (112). This is my
favorite passage because it is really jaw dropping to see that after all Kao and her family had been
through they wanted to stay invisible in America for the first year and a half that they were afraid of
being who they are, Hmong. Back in their old home they were accustomed to frequent bombings,
disease, malnourishment, and so much physical pain. But here, their biggest fear being in the US is the
hatred and racism that is targeted on them. Day after day it s a struggle for Kao s family. For many
immigrants, America has always been projected as the Golden Gate . A place where one would no
longer struggle for their family and if you worked hard enough one can accomplish anything.
Malnourishment, clean air, and safety would no longer keep you up at night. And at the start of Kao s
American journey, it was hard to see if any positive opportunity would arise. But it would, as they
didn t let the hard work or racism get to them. Kao s parents would

See No Evil Review
This report is based on the book; See No Evil, by Robert Baer. To be honest, I didn t read Baer s book.
I listened to the audio version which has Robert Baer himself reading his book. While flying
commuter and mail flights, I was able to listen to Baer s adventures in the Middle East. There is a
distinct similarity between this book and Harvey Kushner s Holy War on the Homefront, being that
despite all the warnings our intelligence officers have supplied to our government agencies, there
seems to be little or no action taken to stop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That was the usual sign that the action would be to build calluses on the backside.
When Baer was trying to get information on the embassy bombing while working in east Beirut, he
felt that he was working in the dark. He needed to be in West Beirut where all the good agents were,
but that was under the control of Hezbollah and getting in there would be suicide. He had to resort to
access agents, which didn t know anything, but could get to those that did know something. He found
a good access agent and was able to dig up a lot of information with him and through the use of
wiretaps, which is very easy to do in Beirut. One vital piece of information was about Hussein Khalil
being a key player in the Glass kidnapping. He also found out that Hussein Khalil was in charge of the
takeover of the Shaykh ab Dalah barracks and was in charge at the same time IJO hostages were held
there. The investigation lead to a terrorist name Mugneah and he could have had an assassin, he calls
him Isom, take him out at a pending meeting with a muffler charge. A muffler charge is two cars
loaded with explosives, one on each side of the victim s car; a very effective high pressure sandwich.
He decided not to do it, figuring that assassinations should be up to the politicians in Washington. He
never saw Isom again, but he regretted his decision after that. Baer made the comment that if
Washington would have recognized the terrorist threat back then, in the 90s,

This paper will describe the implementation of home automation with the help of internet[5]. II.
LITERATURE SURVEY Earlier, for controlling home appliances we need to switch it manually.
Because of the difficulty in operation and difficult for remote access, this system was not considered
as an efficient method. As the technology has advanced the home automation system become
controlled by Bluetooth module which mark the beginning of wireless transmission era. The limitation
of Bluetooth technology is that there is a chance of interference with other devices using Bluetooth
and range is also limited for Bluetooth[1]. Advancement in technology has created an outburst on the
development of the android platform which became an revolution in the cellular mobile system. It can
be controlled by android mobile phone. In the case of android phone, it was platform dependent, i.e.,
we need an iOS for Apple phone android for working in android phone[4]. We have developed a
system that we can control and monitor the home appliances using any devices having an internet
connection[3]. Figure 1: Home automation using Bluetooth module Figure 2: Home automation using
Android App III. PROPOSED METHODOLOGY The existing systems has a number of
disadvantages which are listed above. The system defined here has used internet for handling home
automation. We have used

  • 2. Russia Living Conditions In Russia, there were some prosperous peasant farmers called kulaks, but the living and working conditions for most peasants were dreadful. The Famine and starvation were common and in some regions. Much of Russia land was unsuitable for farming. As a result, the land was short in supply because, by the early 1900s, the population was growing rapidly. The peasants living conditions contrasted sharply with those of the aristocracy, who had vast estates, town and country houses and luxurious lifestyles. The biggest problems that Russia faced is that the Tsar did not do delegate day to day task and he also managed his officials poorly. • 3. The Serpent-Vampire in Keats Lamia Essay The Serpent Vampire in Keats s Lamia The origin of the lamia myth lies in one of the love affairs of Zeus. The Olympian falls in love with Lamia, queen of Libya, which was, for the Greeks, the whole continent of Africa. When Hera finds out about their love, she destroys each of Lamia s children at birth. In her misery, Lamia withdraws to the rocks and caves of the sea coast, where she preys on other women s children, eating them and sucking their blood. To recompense his mistress, Zeus gives her the power of shape shifting. Perhaps as a reflection of this versatility, the monstrous race of lamiae of Africa are composite beings, with the heads and breasts of women, but the bodies of serpents. In this earliest incarnation, Lamia is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Telemakhos meets Helen in Sparta, she still can charm her listeners and even jest about her infidelity of twenty years earlier when the Greeks besieged Troy, daring all for the wanton that I was (IV, 157). While she is not a vampire, she has caused the bloody deaths of numberless Trojans and Greeks. Immortal temptresses hold out that same promise of heightened sexual experience, but they add to that the lure of an escape from the ordinary world into a dream land of perpetual youth and eternal life. They can raise man above his mortal station. In this category we can place the Homeric goddess Kalypso. She has tried to secure Odysseus for herself by giving him eternal youth and immortality. As she complains to Hermes, who has come with the gods command to send Odysseus home, all her effort has gone unrewarded: I fed him, loved him, sang that he should not die nor grow old, ever, in all the days to come. (Odyssey V, 142 43) No one is grateful to such a benefactress, least of all the hero himself, though we have to remember that he has spent seven unaging years in her earthly paradise. Her inability to win his heart intensifies her anger at the other gods. Whatever the gods have done for their mortal beloveds, they have not loved as she has, devotedly, constantly. Odysseus refuses Kalypso s immortality because he glories in the very restrictions imposed by mortality. His love for his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I gave the figure standing in the darkness of the doorway a vicious glance. I felt the pain growing on my knees and my cheek. My bright blue eyes started to fill with tears and what was my sleek, smooth brown hair was messed up and dirty. I was always teased for my fear of the bogeyman and the dark. I got my fear when something was moving under my bed in the middle of the night and my brother said it was the bogeyman. So ever since I have been petrified at night of the bogeyman. I ran for my life. They started to chase me from on top of the old dying trees I felt a stone hit the top of my head. The raccoons were dropping things on my head, on the bright side, I thought at least these aren t monkeys, they would be throwing something else. I could hear a creek in the distance. • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Malware What Is Malware? You sure have heard before terms such as virus, worm, Trojan or rootkit when people discuss internet security. These names describe types of programs used by internet criminals or hackers to hack and take over computers and mobile devices. All of these different terms can be simply called malware. We can simply say that malware is a software, a computer program used by hackers to perform malicious actions. In fact, the word malware is a combination of two words malicious and software. The end goal of most hackers is to install a malware on your device. And once it s installed, these hackers can potentially take control of that device. Many people have this wrong idea of malware is being a problem only for Windows computers. And the reality is, Windows is widely used, which makes it a big target, malware can attack any computing device, including smartphones and tablets. In fact, the percentage of malicious software action against mobile devices is steadily growing. These goals can include stealing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Freudian Regression theory states that Psychological repression, is the psychological attempt made by an individual to repel one s own desires and impulses toward pleasurable instincts by excluding the desire from one s consciousness and holding or subduing it in the unconscious . Sigmund Freud believed that In order to face problems in life, the ego employs defense mechanisms. These mechanisms function unconsciously to keep away unpleasant feelings. Repression was the first defense mechanism that Freud discovered and is thought to be the most important. Repression is one of the unconscious mechanisms employed by the ego to avoid a disturbing thought from being conscious. Normally the thoughts that are repressed are those of guilt. Freud believed that repression could sometimes have two stages which had to do with the aspects of personality ego and super ego and the individual s sense of good and bad . The first stage of Repression which is called Primary Repression is realizing and determining what is good and what is bad The Second stage of repression starts to take place when a person notices that acting on some desires could cause anxiety. • 7. Foundations Of Engineering Lab Report Foundations of Engineering Lab Report Project 2 Dominic Simpson Department of Civil Engineering University of South Florida Tampa, U.S.A. simpsond@mail.usf.edu I. INTRODUCTION Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days in ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering. Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. It was roman engineers who allowed the city of Rome to be built from the palaces to the aqueducts. After the roman engineers built the aqueducts then engineering evolved to a more renaissance approach including building castles and moats. Kings and queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on their castles. The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented calculus and put a formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on improving machinery in the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical field. Lately some of the more popular feats of engineers include large skyscrapers being built across the world, and one of the best inventions of all which is the computer. Computer scientist and electrical engineers have been at the forefront of our most recent technological advancement and will continue to push our technological boundaries to the limits. II. • 8. Literary Devices In The Snows Of Mount Kilimanjaro The story, The Snows of Mount Kilimanjaro, by Ernest Hemingway opens up with a description of Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa (Downie 1). The mountain is said to be where God resides, high up on the mountain. Different themes like relationships and death flood the story. It starts with the main character Harry, and his wife stranded on the mountain. Hemmingway utilizes different literary devices to bring out these themes, with the main character facing his last moments alive. The story is full of powerful literary devices. However, it mostly portrays symbolism and flashback. Symbolism is the main literary device that Hemingway uses throughout the story. Animal symbolism is dominant as it is what the author uses at the beginning of the story. In a short prologue at the beginning, Hemingway talks of a leopard carcass at the summit of the mountain. He says, Close to the Western summit there is the dried and frozen carcass of a leopard, (Hemingway 1). The readers may find it difficult to explain how a leopard found its way up the mountain and what exactly it was doing wandering so high up at the summit. Hemingway uses the leopard to symbolize power, courage, and uttermost strength, which are characters Harry had as a young man. He hopes that he will regain these characters someday. He aspires to go back to his old ways where he was profound and of good character during his youth, rather than the character he had developed. While both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We will prepare ice cream by using two sets of formula. Group B1 and B2 will add the emulsifier into their ice cream whereas group B3 and B4 do not add any emulsifier into ice cream. In this experiment, our group (B3) will prepare the ice cream without adding emulsifier. Therefore, we can study the effect of adding emulsifier on the ice cream. Firstly, we will mix the ingredients in the orderly manner by using high speed mixer. The stabilizer is not added in this step, it is added only during pasteurization process. After mixing, we will carry out pasteurization process. This step is conducted by heating the ice cream mix at 71oC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mouth coating is affected by three dimensional network structures of air cells. Emulsifier can provide semblance of richness sensation of mouth coating by contributing to a formation of small, uniformly dispersed air cell and protects against texture deterioration due to heat shock. (Clark, Costello, Drake, Bodyfelt, 2009). We also study the defects present in our ice cream. Based on table 5, both ice cream with and without emulsifier have defects in its flavor. Both ice cream taste too sweet. This is due to imbalance of the ingredients used during ice cream making. This defects can be overcome by reduce the amount of sucrose used. For defects in body, ice cream with emulsifier has gummy body. It is an indication of pasty and sticky body. This is probably due to over stabilization, very high solid content and low overrun. Excessive stabilizer and sucrose content will contribute to this defect. For the ice cream without emulsifier, it has a heavy body. It is indication of soggy, doughy and putty like body. The factor causing this defect is almost same as gummy body which is high total solid, over stabilization and low overrun. Therefore, we can overcome both defects by reducing amount of stabilizer and sucrose as well as incorporate more air into ice cream mix during freezing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Analysis of A Savage Life Essay Through the use of anecdotes in the article A Savage Life , Suzanne Winckler effectively points out that it is important to understand where your food comes from. Winckler helps convey to readers that while butchering animals is no fun, it is necessary for the survival of omnivores. She argues that meat eaters are out of touch with reality; instead of recognizing that an animal must be sacrificed for their meal, most consumers mindlessly devour the food on their plates without a thought of where their food came from. Winckler states I am too far gone in my rational Western head to appropriate the ritual of cultures for whom the bloody business of hunting was a matter of survival (634); in this statement she adequately appeals to logos ... Through this proclamation, Winckler successfully appeals to pathos because she makes it simple for the audience to see the connection between a newborn and a chicken about to lose its life. Both chickens and newborns are ignorant to the world and rather helpless comparing a human to the food that one eats helps to put the killing of a chicken into perspective. Winckler then gruesomely explains what it is like to behead a chicken; appealing to both pathos and ethos: Headless chickens don t run around. They thrash with such force and seeming coordination that they sometimes turn back flips (633). By using imagery to describe this horrific requirement for killing a chicken, Winckler is seen as a credible and factual source. After slaying her first chicken, Winckler realized why cultures, ancient and contemporary, develop elaborate rituals for coping with the grisly experience of killing any sentient creature (633). She appeals to logos in this quote by informing readers of the epiphany she came to taking them through her mind s thought process; this makes her come across as a logical being, not a demented human. By appealing to logos in this quote, Winckler invokes thought in readers minds; she productively addresses that killing animals is disturbing and off putting but necessary for survival, since most nations perform rituals ... • 14. The Value Of Loan Payment Essay Annuity Due an annuity due in which all the cash flow occurs at the beginning of each period ( Titman et al, 2014,p. 167). Annuity dues are payment such as apartment rent payment at the beginning of the period. The outstanding of the loan information is helpful beyond the professional front. The outstanding interest rate can be calculated by using the same formula as a present value with a slight variation. The present outstanding value of the loan = PMT [1 1/ (1+ annual rate of interest/m) ^number of years *m / annual rate of interest/m]. Here, m is a number of times compounding occurred in the year. Note The book Financial management suggests the balance amount of loan one owes must be equal to the present value of the remaining loan payment (Titman et all, 2014). The information regarding the calculation of loan and outstanding loan gave us a fair idea about how the loan financing occur. Another important aspect learned is how the principle and interest affect the amount of any loan. This knowledge also brought other factors into consideration such as refinancing mortgage loan cost. The refinancing cost involves distinct hidden costs such as appraisal fee, legal fee, origination fee, and application. Hence, if one plan to refinance the loan by getting attracted to lower interest rate. The refinance must put some extra money aside to pay the refinancing cost. Some of the greatest movies of all time are animated, one of them being The Prince of Egypt. This time honoured film was based upon the true story of the Jewish ancestors in Sefer Shemot. To some extent the movie was spot on but, there were a handful of differences between the movie and the history. The addition of character traits, songs, and events, reshaped the story of Passover and made the movie a success. The first observation noted is the addition of character traits. For example, the brotherly bond between Moshe and Ramses. In both the movie and the history, Moshe was raised in the Egyptian palace. But in Shemot, Ramses is not a character. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hollywood attempts to adapt all of the original story without boring or offending the audience. To do so, Hollywood removed and added scenes to the film. The first example is when Moshe and Ramses are chariot racing throughout the palace. Things get out of hand and they end up destroying a large and an important statue. Their father Pharaoh gets very cross with them and punishes them for their actions. This scene does not appear in Shemot but Hollywood adds this scene to represent the brother s fun personalities and what it is like growing up in the Egyptian palace. A second time this is seen is the ceremony held for the new prince of Egypt, Ramses. Moshe also receives a new title, the Royal Chief Architect. As a gift from the magicians, they give Ramses captivity of Sephora. Ramses declines and gives her to Moshe. He embarrasses her in front of all the citizens of Egypt by making her fall into the fountain. Again, none of this happens in history and Sephora is only introduced when Moshe saves her at the well, which does happen in the movie. ‫ב‬ ‫פרק‬ ‫צאנם‬ ‫וישקאת‬ ‫ויושען‬ ‫משה‬ ‫ויקם‬ ‫ויגרשום‬ ‫הרעים‬ ‫ויבאו‬. The Cost Of Cost Costing Procedure costing is utilized when there is large scale manufacture of comparative items, where the expenses connected with individual units of yield can t be separated from one another. As such, the expense of every item delivered is thought to be the same as the expense of each other item. Under this idea, expenses are amassed over a settled time of time, abridged, and after that designated to the greater part of the units delivered amid that time of time on a predictable premise. At the point when items are rather being produced on an individual premise, occupation costing is utilized to amass costs and appoint the expenses to items. At the point when a creation procedure contains a few mass assembling and some modified components, then a crossover costing framework is utilized. Cases of the businesses where this kind of creation happens incorporate oil refining, sustenance generation, and substance preparing. Case in point, how would you focus the exact expense needed to make one gallon of flying fuel, when a great many gallons of the same fuel are spouting out of a refinery consistently? The world that Rand creates has few differences from reality at its start, but as the story progresses, real world ideologies are taken to the extreme, and societal collapse appears to be imminent. Since much of the book is written with her thoughts at its forefront, Dagny s alienation based on gender is easily forgotten. However, it is still evident. Rand does not ignore sexism; she merely refuses to overplay it. One of the rare mentions of Dagny s gender in her work is found on page 771, where Bertram Scudder introduces Dagny on his talk show with, the last descendant of an illustrious name in our industrial history, the woman executive possible only in America. This comment is brief, and appears harmless, but there is a deeper significance within it. Scudder uses the words, only possible in America, to attribute Dagny s success to her circumstance, detaching it from her own effort. This is one of the ways that several characters in the book justify their prejudice against anyone who is better off than them; they attribute any achievement or detriment to circumstance, minimizing the accomplishments of others and excusing their own behavior. The characters who exhibit gender bias against Dagny are not limited to men. In fact, much of the sexism of which she is subject comes from other women. Readers are exposed to this in a brief encounter with a minor character named Betty Pope, who expresses her disdain for Dagny, calling her a grease monkey. . .posing around like a big executive, (Rand, 73). She then comments on Dagny s femininity, or lack thereof, implying that running a railroad is a task that is beneath a proper woman. The next obvious drag on Dagny s femininity comes from her brother s second source of companionship, his wife Cheryl. They were often placed under unusually severe limitations on their everyday life especially on those actions where religious believes played and important role. Following the Revolutionary War, some tolerance for Catholics was present there was a sufficient atmosphere of forbearance in Boston to accommodate the handful of Roman Catholics who had now begun to practice heir religion openly. This new found tolerance could not have come at better time. After the Revolutionary War, larger numbers of Irish immigrants were joining their friends and families in America. From 1825 to 1830, approximately 125,000 people emigrated from Ireland to the Americas, an average of 20,000 a year. • 35. Film Analysis Of The Romantic Genre And Movie Rocky Genre theory is used to study films and put them into a classification so that audiences know what type of film it is before they see it. Genres are categories based on the story of the film, sometimes the actors and actresses, or even the directors. All films fall under a genre or sub genre category. Romantic Comedy is an example of a genre which is light hearted, humorous story involving people in love, sometimes overlapping with subgenres such as screwball comedy teen comedy, or gross out comedy. ( Goodykoontz Jacobs, 2014, table 4.1). This paper will focus on the romantic comedy genre and movie Rocky. It will take a better look at the specific conventions of this genre and how this movie fits the gangster genre. Romantic comedy films create a comic climate through a series of cues to the audience: subject matter is treated as trivial, jokes and physical humor make fun of events, and characters are protected from harm (Grindon Leger (2015). Romantic comedy films usually have a couple that meet and fall in love in some way throughout the movie. In the movie Rocky Sylvester Stallone as Rocky meets Adrian at the pet shop and realizes she is the women he wants to be with. Rocky is a want to be boxer at the time who wants to be a professional boxer and knows Adrian s brother from the gym. When Rocky sees Adrian through the window of the pet shop he uses the excuse that he buys a fish and asks her out. Adrian agrees and she is a very bashful lady, she dresses and looks very homely. Rocky and Adrian starting dating and she supports him through his boxing career. The couple falls in love and they get married. Adrian starts dressing nice and gets contacts to the point you see her transform into a beautiful lady by the end of the film. The genre of Romantic comedy is pairing two individuals into a couple with some comedy which Rocky proves to have. The comedy part would be where Adrian asks Rocky why he boxes and he says because he can t dance or sing . Throughout the film there are little conventions to show the comedy. The film Rocky the first convention would be the setting. In the film it is set in 1976 in the low income part of Philadelphia. This shows the Rocky and Adrian started out ... • 36. Resistance of Spot Welding on Galvanized Steel Sheet Literature review starting with the research topic of the modeling and analysis of resistance spot welding on galvanized steel sheet used in car body manufacturing. In the process analysis of resistance spot welding on galvanized steel used in vehicle body manufacturing, the quality of spot weld is checked from the tensile strength and shear strength properties of the spot weld. The four important parameters in this analysis are: a. Weld current b. Weld time c. Pressure d. Hold time These four factors determine the quality of weld. For the first stage of analysis, non linear behavior of the process become one of the main problem. So the author proposed an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). This Artificial Neural Network is capable of dealing and gives accurate result for non linear systems. This research paper aims to give the proper solution to control the process input parameters to make better spot weld joints with specified strength. In the second stage of the research work, Genetic Algorithm with fitness function based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model was used for determining a set of optimized process parameters. At the end of research paper it is concluded that the analysis shows that there is a non linear relationship between weld parameters and tensile shear strength properties of spot weld joints. The proposed Artificial Neural Network was very much effective for modeling the non linear systems. The analysis conducted by the use of Artificial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Plans Retirement Plans Companies have the option of selecting the best pension plan for both the employee and the employer. There are several different types to plans available, but the most common are defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans. Each plan offers different incentives for both the employer and the employee, which makes their values different for every situation. Defined Benefit Plans Large corporations under which the employer promises to pay a retiree a stated pension, often expressed as a percentage of preretirement pay, which is traditionally used and known as a defined benefit plans (Cascio, 2013, p. 483). The most common formula for defined benefit plans couples an employee s years of service and their final average pay, to determine the amount of their retirement. Employers then pay into the fund each year to cover the expected benefit payment for the employee. The majority of defined benefit plans calculates earnings over the last 3 to 5 years of service for a prospective retiree and offers a pension that is about one half this amount, which varies from 30 to 80 percent, adjusted for years of seniority (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2014, p. 466). Essay about Galileo and the History of the Catholic Church Galileo and the History of the Catholic Church In the history of the Catholic Church, no episode is so contested by so many viewpoints as the condemnation of Galileo. The Galileo case, for many, proves the Church abhors science, refuses to abandon outdated teachings, and is clearly not infallible. For staunch Catholics the episode is often a source of embarrassment and frustration. Either way it is undeniable that Galileo s life sparked a definite change in scientific thought all across Europe and symbolised the struggle between science and the Catholic Church. In 1543 Nicholas Copernicus, a Polish Canon, published On the Revolution of the Celestial Orbs . The popular view is that Copernicus discovered that the earth revolves ... Prior to Galileo s time, the Greek and medieval mind, science was a kind of formalism, a means of coordinating data, which had no bearing on the ultimate reality of things. The point was to give order to complicated data, and all that mattered was the hypothesis that was simplest to understand and most convenient. Astronomy and mathematics were regarded as the playthings of intellectuals. They were accounted as having neither philosophical nor theological relevance. There was genuine puzzlement among Churchmen that they had to get involved in a quarrel over planetary orbits. Aristotle had refuted heliocentricity , and by Galileo s time nearly every major thinker subscribed to a geocentric view. Copernicus had delayed the publication of his book for years because he feared not the censure of the Church, but the mockery of academics. It was the hide bound Aristotelians in the schools who offered the fiercest resistance to the new science. • 41. The Figures Of The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In ancient Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art, people were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very human and emotional. The way humans have been depicted through sculpture and the reasons behind these canons have evolved and changed over time. The earliest examples of the human form in sculpture can be found in the paleolithic era. While in the Paleolithic era humans were rarely depicted in paintings, they were commonly depicted through sculpture in small figurines. The majority of these figures were female, with very few males, and over two hundred have been classified as Venus figurines. These figures were almost always made with exaggerated breasts, stomach, and hips, which is unlikely to be how women looked during this time. The proportions were symbolic and not meant to represent a real woman. This is shown in the piece Venus of Willendorf, a Paleolithic era sculpture. This figure is fairly small at only four inches high, and it is unable to stand up on its own (see fig. 1). Like most sculptures around this time period, it was made to be easily carried as the paleolithic people were nomadic (Zygmont). The answer lies within a nation s economic policy. Economic policy is the actions taken by a government to influence its economy. Types of economic policy actions can include setting interest rates through a federal reserve, regulating the level of government expenditures, creating private property rights, and setting tax rates. Economic policy hopes to accomplish economic growth and a stable economy. More specifically, the federal government hopes to accomplish stable prices, economic growth, and full employment by its economic policy. Economists debate over three economic policies: supply side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The methods that supply side economics uses to improve economic growth are to lower marginal taxes and less government regulation. Under President Ronald Reagan, Congress passed a plan that would slash taxes by $749 billion over five years. As a result, Reagan was called a great advocate for supply side economics and was praised for his great leadership. Although supply side economics is based on the idea of encouraging people to work harder, it also seems to not always work. For example, Congress passed the cut in tax rates after Reagan was elected, but tax revenues did not rise. This goes to show that other economic policies need to be examined in order for the economy to be successful. Demand side economics is based on the belief that the most important thing affecting economic activity and thus resulting in the most stable economy is consumer demand for goods and services. Also called Keynesian economics, demand side economics was developed after the Great Depression when supply side economics fell through. Demand side economics was founded by John Maynard Keynes and is based on aggregate demand. Aggregate demand is the total level of demand for desired goods and services, which is made up of the sum of consumption expenditure, investment expenditure, government expenditure, and net exports. When doing business internationally, it is important to consider how businesses operate within their culture. In western societies such as our own, businesses tend to be deal focused where people are more task oriented. Independence and personal initiative characterize U.S. communication style because the U.S. work culture is very outcome oriented (Martinez Carter). Saudi Arabia, on the contrary, follows a relationship focus culture, where people put dealings with friends ahead of business dealings. In Saudi Arabia they are part of a family centered society where trust of others is highly correlated with the degree of familiarity with them (Daniels 48). It is uncommon for businesses here to take a long time to decide if they will partake in a business transaction. Patience is important when conducting business in Saudi Arabia since decisions are made slowly and in a bureaucratic manner (McLaughlin). The relationship focus businesses will not be so quick to conduct a business deal. They would rather take the time and learn about the business and individuals they are dealing with.
